Having just come out of season 4, with people repeatedly saying "don't wait too long" and variations thereof to both generate a general atmosphere of creeping dread and highlight the parallel between martin's arc and basira's in which they both work with the enemy for the sake of their favorite person for just long enough to doom the world, I have to wonder what the hell they meant with this
like. what are you trying to say here?
#the magnus archives#tma liveblog#i dont even know what arcs we're comparing#is it about martin and elias?#sasha and melanie?#tim and jon??#is there some secret about the institute kill switch that can only be gleaned by comparing it to martin faking his cv?#i think im reading too much into it#i'm beginning to suspect the magnus archives might have a very mild homestuck accent#dave breaking dirk's sword to decapitate him feels thematic because of the way it echoes prior events#but i couldn't actually put into words what theme those echoes are trying to convey#if i thought about it hard enough i could probably analyze what decapitation symbolically represents in dirk's arc#but that analysis would have more to do with my imagination than homestuck's writing#in the same way i'm not convinced that the echoes of 'its not even a good lie' mean anything in particular#but you can't just spend a season echoing dialog meaningfully and then not expect me to read into it#when a character says word for word the exact same sentence that another character said 60 episodes ago#it feels important#i just cant make any real sense of it#yet#there's many arcs that if i look at it at just the right angle it could theoretically be setting up for#i'll just have to wait and see if any of them seem relevant to what happens in the rest of season 5

okay so i found this s1 and s2 intro comparison video and i'm going feral about it. i have a lot to say. i think the intro poses some very important theories and ideas and i'd like to post my take about it. this is about arcane btw
i made a comment about this on the video itself but there's a lot more i wanted to say. in short, the comment said:
season one's intro focuses on the surface-level ideas of the characters. each one is either decked out in their gear or holding their weapons, or whatever things make them who they are. i think it's super cool for that, but season two's focuses solely on lighting and the characters themselves.
as another post mentioned, all of the characters are in very generic clothing, with nothing but them to observe. no gear, no weapons, no items, other than viktor holding his mask (the same way he held the book last season mind you) and the medardas with the rose. they're going to be stripped bare in this season.
the lighting is made so it highlights their faces, their posture, their body language. we're not looking at characters in a show anymore. we're looking at people.
that's the big main idea of all of this, but there's a lot more to talk about, so i'll put the rest under the cut so nonone has to scroll for hours to get past this post if they don't want to read everything. and there are a heap of season two spoilers under the cut as well, just beware.
anyway, we start out the intro with vi. let's take a really close look at this because holy shit.
we start with her sitting there, in nothing but a tank top (and i think not even a bra lmao) and she brings her hand to her face and smudges her tattoo. the tattoo with her name on it. the tattoo that helped maddie nolan recognize her.
and then the pink strip of light HIGHLIGHTS IT. that's her name, that's who she is, and she smudged it. it's probably a tattoo so the smudge in the intro is lore symbolic than anything, unless you can just easily remove tattoos in the league of legends universe. but anyway, yeah, she's having an identity crisis. she doesn't know who she is anymore.
next, we have jinx. parallel to last season's intro vi and jinx are back to back. but in this season they're sitting down. while vi is sitting, contemplative, her sister stands up and shoots.
i think comparing this with s1 is very important. in s1 vi and powder are a carving, cut from the same stone. and there they are in season two, now their own people, now walking away from one another. it's a very clever way to present their dynamic in my opinion.
it's important to point out that vi sits down and the light illuminates her smudged tattoo, while when jinx stands and shoots the light highlights her eye. i'm not sure what to make of it but it's interesting.
let's move on to ekko!
so, when it switches to him, we can see him standing alone in an empty room, the light making it so he has two shadows. they move bit by bit, like the hands of a clock.
i think that's a really cool detail because, for those who don't know much about league of legends, ekko's ability in the game is time-related. what it means for his arc in s2 i'm not quite certain on, but i have a really big theory i'll talk about in another post soon.
on to the next bit, viktor! unfortunately there's a 10-image limit on mobile and i dont have a computer right now so i'll continue this in another post. also i don't want this to be pages and pages long... so stay tuned cause ive got a lot of shit to say lmao.
made a new blog tag, just search arcane intro analysis in my blog and you'll find all posts relating to arcane's intro. more to come!!!

I am not a prismdani guy in the sense that I dont think that could ever have a happy ending even in theory without altering or disrespecting their characters in some essential way and i dont think a fully tragic and fucked up ending for a character like dani with no light at the end of the tunnel really suits cpuk's tone or themes in the grand scheme of things
but i am in the sense that i understand and am compelled by it in like a horror movie way.
In a 'dear god dani get the hell out of there' way.
In a 'hey that scene in orange looked almost like a date before the arm thing, (the most flagrantly horrifying red flag yet at that point and what made most of us fully turn on her after some hesitation about fully condemning her when she gave cobalt a crisis instead of advice and shoved folk and treuse around before the Kicker that was her killing crimson onstage) that, as a flashback, was immediately preceded by Crimson (literally a walking red flag that somethings deeply wrong in Prism's metaphorical house, Noone Really Acts Like That For No Reason,) asking what Prism's been doing and saying and followed within said flashback by Quadratic (Mr. Character Arc Revolves Around Healing From A Relationship With A Character He Goes On To Explicitly Compare Prism To) carefully soft-confronting Prism so as not to make a scene while checking in with Dani to make sure shes okay and to let Prism know he has his eyes on her and isnt afraid to bluntly and unambiguously leak information to the audience she wants to keep secret while theyre on camera so she better not pull any shit' way.
In a 'the butchest girl twitter can handle without getting scared and me, the sunshiney eccentric femme she serves and obeys onesidedly like a dog, her own character subsumed into an aesthetically cute complimentary nonthreatening opposition to mine :) (dani cannot bring herself to admit shes grown afraid of setting her off or disappointing her or disobeying and being made to feel that oppressive crush of obligation as Prism manipulates her, struggling to realize and process the idea that Prism is a threat to her because an Abuser™️ (as per popular cultural portrayal) is supposed to be an obviously evil physically threatening bastard mcbadguy not a 5'0" nothing bible camp counselor that uses pressure, guilt, information control and other such tactics to creep into your thoughts to rewire your behavior to her liking if you don't have the means to reject what she imposes on you.) look at us we share a character flaw we're foils arent we charming :)' kinda way.
#something something chris fleming something something you are a cruel woman who just happens to be small. you get the picture#abusers can look like anything. be anyone. as long as they have the power to abuse#that goes for abusive parents and abusive partners alike.#and especially goes for someone who knows how to control the narrative. and i dont even mean that in the meta way#i mean that in the way that if someone can control how others percieve you. then they can use others as pawns of their abuse.#and if you can manipulate the information people have.#you can change how they feel about something in ways that make them resistant to realizing theyve been mislead.#if you can push your victim to the edge. make them lash out. make them unpalatable. you can justify becoming the 'hero' to put them down.#sincerely i love prism precisely because she is so deeply disturbing and sinister as a character concept#danth confronting prism in ncct3 has shades of these vibes too#“ive seen dani's face when she comes home”#“i know how hurt she is”#“i thought it was just pressure”#“but now i fucking know! its YOU isnt it?”#augh.#ncct spoilers#mostly in the tags but yknow#cpuk spoilers#for the whole post tho. lol#like i said this compells me. so i would talk about this more. but for Reasons the subject puts a bit of an anxious pit in my stomach#but i was thinkin about it anyway. so here we are. lol

They really wasted THE FUCK out of Nathan Pandit. Like WE DONT KNOW HIS HEIGHT, HIS BLOOD TYPE, HIS WEIGHT AND WE DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIM. He should’ve gotten a longer character arc and have a chance as a suspect or partner in a main investigation, he had so much potential, and yet pretty simple was like: “Yeah bro you gonna die and we’ll not tell more about you.” Nathan really got killed just to discard of him, and some things about his murder case felt really OOC out of him cause I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t let a bunch of kids touch snakes, and let alone learn how to handle them without any regard for safety. I really think he should’ve gotten more moments with Harper Stone, I wanted to see them blossom as a couple and end up together, and more things about their relationship and they really killed Harper’s character too by turning her into the activist stereotype LIKE WHAT THE HELL.
I know. It would have been nice if we were at least allowed to learn more about Nathan instead of him getting killed in the first case. Sure, I'm grateful they didn't make him the killer, but he could have been a suspect instead! I know PS was probably trying to go for a shock factor like, "We're going back to Grimsborough, so our first victim needs to be someone everyone will know and already care about! Oh! I know! Let's use Nathan!" Like, seriously?! The only info we know about Natha's profile is his age; we don't even know how tall he is or anything else!
Even in S1, he seemed to get the short end of the stick when it came to character development. The others got to serve as our partners in the main investigation and the AIs, but the only time Nathan was our partner was for a few AIs! And maybe it's because he only typically got one analysis per case (the autopsy), but compared to other teammates, we barely got to interact with him and know very little about him...
As for Snake in The Grass itself, it did seem a little OCC. Nathan knows a lot about snakes and would know how to properly handle them, but even so, he was the Zoo's vet and not a tour guide? Why would he be the one showing kids the animals anyway? Wouldn't that be more like Harper or Vince Moon's job??
As for Harper, personally, I don't ship her and Nathan (it felt like a last-minute ship idea to me when playing S1), but even so, it would have been nice to see them interact instead of Harper just being like, "oh, we broke up." And the part where she says Nathan wouldn't accept her reaction just confused me. I feel like when they broke up, Nathan would be sad but would respect Harper's request to end things, not try to win her back with gifts she wouldn't want! Maybe if PS didn't butcher the ship so much, I would like it more, but as it stands, it leaves a lot to be desired for me.
And even if I don't ship them, I still HATE what they did with Harper's character in S8! Yes, I agree she cares about animals, but she wouldn't be as crazy about it as they made her act in S8! She was basically a completely different character! The only thing in common with her past versions is her name and design! Other than that, she's unrecognizable!

Can you talk about what exactly blue’s (f) arc was in FRLG?
I have two thoughts on her "arc" in frlg: that it's conceptually interesting and that she also suffered from a nonsensical personality change
FRLG opens with Silver stating that Green has recovered from her trauma with the help of her friends. This is the logical next step to take her development after GSC, but Kusaka decided to essentially remove her personality to show that she's grown as a person. Like, her personality was formed from trauma so we're just taking the whole thing away to show that she isn't traumatized anymore, which isn't how people work. This is similar to how Yellow's bravado and denseness has been slowly replaced by softness and shyness ever since she was revealed to be a girl. It doesn't feel like a logical progression like other dexholders have, but instead she just feels like a new version of the same character
Some things about Green in FRLG are completely different. Why does Red say he doesn't want to involve her in the fight? The arc acts like her parents disappearing in front of her is the most traumatic thing instead of, like, just another traumatic event on the list of shit she's been dealing with since she was five. Her response doesn't make sense when we know that her cheeky personality is a response to growing up having to take care of herself, so completely dropping that especially in the face of stress feels weird. I assume she would revert to her old coping mechanisms under stress, but instead she's more open and vulnerable than we've ever seen her despite the rawness of the situation (compare that to how Ruby keeps reverting to his bad coping mechanisms despite his efforts to change). And Red has seen her overcome her fear of birds by capturing the legendary bird trio and showing up to fight with them, so wanting to keep her out of the fight doesn't make sense either. And why does professor oak insist that she's the most sensible kanto dexholder? The girl he publicly humiliated for stealing? She's definitley not more level headed than them enough to justify only giving her vital information. It really does feel like her personality was yanked out and replaced with Generic Girl personality. It doesn't feel like a realistic next step for her development as a person
On the other hand, her "arc" fits really well into the theme of FRLG (though some of it is just speculation). FRLG is a story about these one dimensional characters in a simple shonen universe growing up and realizing that the world is more complicated than they thought, and suffering because they dont realize it at first. For Green, she starts out in new clothes sitting pretty and proper under an umbrella, waiting for her parents to arrive and everything wrong with her childhood to be righted. But since this is FRLG, it isn't that simple, and her parents get abducted by Deoxys. Then later on we get this exchange
where she admits to her parents that she's changed because of what she went through and she can't go home just yet. It seems to me like Green thought she could make everything go back to the way it was before she was kidnapped. That's why the first full shot we get of her is this
where she's sitting all ladylike waiting for them, and she definitely isn't a ladylike person. I think there's some delusion there about a simple world, like other dexholders in this arc, where she thinks if she just acts like the child her parents lost, they'll go back to being the family they were when she was little. But she changed because she was kidnapped, and it's impossible to go back to who she was before all the bad things happened. I think that's what Kusaka was getting at with her here, that just like with Silver the ending is tragic and bittersweet. It feeds really well into the theme of FRLG, even if it isn't focused on much

Sanders Sides Character Recaps and Fortune Telling, what fun
let me start by saying I have suddenly been thrown back on the Fander train without my consent and this is the result of that. its a doozy, but if anyone wishes to discuss further id be delighted. so:
Virgil: came a long way, accepting being accepted, he's still dealing with the guilt of his past i spose. getting more familiar with everyone, him and logan are cute (platonically). Of course as Anxiety, he still struggles with lying (because we get nervous when we think about getting found out) and intrusive thoughts (what if im a bad person) but as a person(?) hes learning to come to terms with that, well on his way with a few crises coming his way, theres that whole thing with saying Paranoid to him, hope we face that. I see self discovery and good things coming his way, a win for all you virgil fans!
Roman: clearly, getting pretty emotionally beat, yknow, sides with Janus to be shot down, goes against Janus to be shot down again, significantly lacking in wins recently, you wonder abt his self esteem. Still doing his job great, which seems to be the only thing hes got going for him which is concerning. in the You vs Yourself vid hes very unsure about his moral views because he recognizes hes not Morality and when he proposes arguments they are based on endgoal, just like hes usually been as Passion, creativity, career drive, you might say? I dont see his arc being addressed in his near future, but I'm sure it will come to that. I see dark times before his good times roll, hang in there Roman fans, he'll get his moment.
Patton: Hes really been going through it, hasnt he. I mean, recently he just found out there was so much more complications to his job that he wasnt prepared to handle and to be faced with it all at once must be really challenging, especially when everyone is expecting results from him and he doesnt even know what to do and theyre all judging his decisions when hes just trying his best with all these new factors to consider with his job as Morality. Its easier for him to come to terms with Janus as deceit than Remus because he can easily see how lying can be good (even though he knows its also not a lot of the time) but he still doesnt really know how Intrusive Thoughts are helpful to Thomas or good in any way. I see in his future, job related anxiety and insecurity. It will be adressed, and its also good he was allowed his breakdown early (You vs Yourself, you can tell I really like this episode despite a severe lack of Virgil and Remus)
Logan: Well. we all know how this is going, I mean, hes the talk of the town lately! As a Logan fan, I can attest to the fact that he did used to be more lighthearted and smile more and I can also attest to the fact that Thomas is very aware of his development as a character and I don't think he'll let yall down. just, what I can glean from his videos. we're all waiting for him to go apeshit, and I with you, and i do think its coming very soon guys, hold on to your proverbial hats! I do enjoy that hes clearly indifferent to the new additions and not thrown off like the others. due to the fact that he is Logic. Id also like to point out that logic can be wrong and everyones logic is different. even if its less so compared to how anxiety is. so. logic is still susceptible to human whims. anyway theres been plenty going aorund abt ignoring logan and the orange side, and I'm always up for discussion on any of these guys. Hes really been just going ham into his job, huh? search for purpose, hmmm? ponder on that morsel. more alcohol in his life as well, an interesting observation.
Janus: oh, the snakey boi. How hes grown. he does a lot of drinking too. what for, I wonder. I do think the preposition to his song reveals a lot, like how Patton is talking to him more, how he knows truths and knows that some need to be hidden and its healthy to lie sometimes even when you know its a lie. Hes confident in himself and his abilities and knows when the criticism is ignorance vs actual criticism, which is why he values Logan's perspective on his arguments and brushes off Roman's jabs to his ego. Hes safely on the ride, and I dont see any heavy existential crises or anything in his near future, as in, he (and Remus, I'll talk about it later) will probably be the only mentally stable ones as the Light Sides are having their purposes reevaluated. Confidence is surprisingly key. who'da thunk it?
Remus: My favourite rat man. True to his name, hes very intrusive, and I admire his determination in his fight for acknowledgement. I think it will serve him well, the "face it bluntly hands on" tactic compared to Janus, who understands where he stands in the others' eyes and will slowly but surely snake his way (see what i did there?) to the table. Remus, and I love it about him, is just running forward to acceptance MACE ABLAZING and I hope it takes him good places. the WTIT ep was very revealing. his confidence in himself, like Janus's, will carry them through the generally rough patch that I predict is coming their way. i do think he is salty abt being ignored, which I interpret as the biggest difference between him and Janus (who might also be, but I dont really see it? I might also be in denial cuz this theory is really working for me) and Remus is wounded by it and trying to hide the fact that hes salty with his craziness and randomness that no one understands. its why he feels mor menacing than Janus. who knows, Janus might be just as peeved but hiding it better? settled himself in for the long game?
both dark sides certainly seem bent (and betting) on getting Logan to lose his marbles, but idk whether thats for Logans good or so the Reasonable Light Side (tm) will see what its like? and by proxy everyone else...? the tail end of the theory is escaping me now. its also 5 am.
Cant wait to see how the orange side manifests, wont that just be plenty of fun for all?

i was 15 when i watched made in abyss as well, finished the 1st season and promptly never touched it again because of what i learned about the author. From what ive seen from koreans they say that the version shown on korean tv is censored (which sounds plausible) which could mean that the weird parts that we skip may be cut out entirely(?dont quote me on that idk) soobin is on thin ice cause the 2nd season is worse and taeyong is in deep shit because i dont think there is any reason why someone should own the manga😟
I'mma preface this by saying I completely get everyone who couldn't stomach this series. It contains a lot of disturbing topics and at the end of the day, it's a horror series, of course not everyone is gonna be able to handle that, and again that's fine. But I can also say that this arc was surprisingly handled with a lot of care, wasn't fetishized nor glorified just... disturbing. Think of Outlast 2 or the ending of Amnesia:Rebirth.
TLDR:
Second season is way more disturbing but not as sexual in nature and Soobin most likely was talking about the fight scenes when saying how cool it was. And if he wasn't then who knows what he was yapping about, don't know him personally so I can't put words into his mouth unless he says something. As for Taeyong, can't defend him at ALL but calling him a p3d0 would still be a bit too much for me.
AND I wanna add after further investigation, Mingi said he didn't even watch it and instead dropped it because it was too much for him, so there's that.
For a more in depth explanation, here you go:
I'm gonna have to explain the lore in order for you all to understand this FULLY, so heres a summary:
The arc introduces us to Vueko, a victim of trafficking who was thrown into the Abyss with the rest of the now villagers because she wasn't deemed as someone useful. So obviously, when she meets Irumyuui, who has been exiled from her village for not being able to give birth at the age of 8, she immediately takes her in. As a victim, she understands her, and the author explains how, through helping Irumyuui, Vueko is able to heal her own trauma and heal Irumyuui as well. It's extremely well written, and as a fellow victim, there was something so sweet about seeing someone heal with the help of another. Especially when that someone acted like a mother figure. But of course, this is the Abyss. The point of the Abyss is that despite you thinking there's some light at the end of the tunnel, there isn't. Wazukyan takes that away, and Irumyuuis wish backfires (think of it like the wishes in Madoka, you get what you want but at a cost), and she gets turned into a horrible monster. But despite everything, she's happy because to her, she's fulfilled her purpose.
This is the part that I could discuss for hours because to me, it was commentary on how young girls even nowadayas are convinced by others that 'they have to find a man one day' and how having no kids is looked down upon. Especially in 3rd world countries. I could write an entire essay, but we're not here to do that.
I can tell you immediately that none of this was fetishized nor glorified in an yway, it's just supposed to make you feel absolutely empty because again, author is really trying to push that "oh you think you got the good end of the stick? Think again!" The manga if FILLED with situations like this, from Rico's origins to Nanachis arc, the subplot of this entire manga is 'how far are you willing to go to survive?'. Think of it like Fire Punch. Disturbing? Yeah, I mean, even I had to drop it once they began talking about trafficking women. Once again, I am comparing it to Madoka Magica but far more gruesome. Nothing explicit was shown, Irumyuui's private parts were never exposed, and her giving birth was also never shown. Her transformation WAS shown, but it's your basic body horror, like in most Junji Ito works.
SO, obviously if you're not a fan of the horror/seinen genre this is deeply disturbing and fucked but after seeing games like Outlast 2 and Amnesia: Rebirth, I wasn't as disturbed PERSONALLY. Again, recommending this publicly might've not been the smartest idea because you really do have to be into the horror genre to be able to handle topics like that. Even I just had to sit in silence for a couple hours after reading that backstory cuz damn, it hits you right in the feels. And most of the manga past that part just has badass fight scenes and when people praise it, they usually talk about that. From what I saw it was well animated and lots of clips were shared on tiktok, twitter etc. So there's a big chance he was talking about that.
(Examples of why people were hyping it up, even non-fans who had no idea about the series were going crazy because of this fight scene)
Now as for Taeyong... see now the reason I didn't mention him in the original post is because of that specific thing. I love the series and have come across physical copies of the manga but I know damn well I'm not buying cuz I don't wanna be seen supporting the author, purely out of spite. And saying 'oh well maybe he didn't know what the author is like'. Unlike some sites, physical copies DO include the extra chapters which contain stuff like this:
Totally unnecessary, not relevant to the plot and while some say it was added as a "haha funny joke" c'mon now. Let's use our brains. Now, would I call him a p3d0? Absolutely not. Would he be weird for this? To me, yeah. For anyone reading this, it's up for you to decide. I'm only here to answer questions about the series because I see people saying random stuff and making it seem FAR more worse just cuz they saw a couple tags.
#soobin#mingi#woozi#taeyong#made in abyss#ateez#seventeen#txt#tomorrow x together#y'know I'mma act like this is a positive thing cuz I get to infodump about a series#AGAIN not defending the author or anything like that#just tired of people overexaggerating the anime and acting like people are actual criminals for watching an anime that is btw on netflix

I'm half hoping the Hells run into some devout kryn, because it'd be interesting to see them deal with the parallels with the predathos followers of "all the gods are shit except this thing" and the doomsday goal where they could destroy the planet like mercer pointed out. Not to mention their method of lite immortality and reincarnation into people's children running against Ludinus's deal.
talking about the luxon is hard because my thoughts on it are wreathed in layers of meta like nothin else.... let's just say first off we're definitely getting that pov, as the kryn have aeor encircled (as we know from both the c2 aeor arc/frida & deanna during the c3 molaesmyr arc), and the discovery of ashton would be.... heresy? ascension? to them.
i think the luxon, in all its parralels to predathos and its domain of space & time, is kind of.... the answer to all this? the kryn are incorrect in their belief that the luxon was discovered by them, but i dont think theyre wrong about it in other ways. frankly i, someone who people think is a god hater for my analysis of the pantheon's actions, trust it. it has been used & abused throughout history whilst not even fully formed. where the pantheon & betrayers have had entire lives to make choices the luxon is a fetus who has been able to make none. as we understand it, it came to exandria because it was lonely and hungry to learn, to experience, to feel. it allegedly started life on exandria as folk worry predathos will end it. i presently think predathos & the luxon are both ancient, cosmic entities of higher power than the exandrian gods; one has lived and been beaten like an animal. one has seen eons of mortal history through an egg sac lens.
i think the kryn they can be extreme in how they wish others to join their faith, and i dont know how much of that counts as (for lack of a very non christian word) evangelizing; though ill say notably they ask others and try to win faith through mighty feats, over bulldozing & building temples with brute strength as vasselheim does. and frankly, while both wish for their cosmic entity to be free, the kryn certainly arent on the vanguard's levels; they want to understand the luxon and nurture it til it's ready to Become. the vanguard wishes for predathos to Wake and will rend the universe apart to watch it Devour. i think it is worth noting how beaten xhorhas is by wynandir; the society headed by a man who wants predathos freed does not sympathize with the luxon but despises it for being seen as a person and abuses it himself. ludinus, i think, sees predathos as a caged beast he can use or at least watch burn his worst enemies, and the luxon as a younger kind of it to force into service. the kryn see the luxon as a person-to-be like them. and maybe thats the key. understanding that even this galactic entity should feel care & grief & love right beside mortals. as if it's their child, even if they're by all means a parent to every living thing. as if it's one of Us. i think the real question i have isnt necessarily about the kryn parralels to the vanguard now, but rather the parralels in how they treat predathos when they learn of it; will they see it as alive and as worthy of care as the luxon? as well as the parralels of what actions the luxon will take compared to predathos; because i think, as predathos rages, the luxon will choose love.
#i dont know if ANY of this made sense but i am a dam of luxon thoughts waiting to break at all hours#long post#asks#van speaks#critical role#critical role meta#the luxon#predathos#ludinus da'leth#ashton greymoore

oh interesting! to me lestat's idolization of marius is so integral to his character that i can't see it not happening. the way he has been portrayed in s1, i think it would make sense for him as a character to not think of sex slavery/rape as anything particularily bad and just another thing that some vampires do to abuse others, if that makes sense. i think that it would go hand in hand with how he abused claudia in regards to her rape, mocking her, torturing her with the memories of the act etc. there is that one line from the books, i think he describes armand as "still being a scared orphan" (or something like that) so on some level he realizes what happend to him might not have been great (just like he admitted in the trial that what he did to louis was wrong), but i dont think that would be enough, for lack of a better word, for him to not want to be like marius (not saying that he wants to copy the way marius acts with his fledglings, but that it's not something that lestat would mind if someone else does it, if that makes sense) overall there are still things that would be great to be included in the show and finally done justice, compared to how horrible the books basically treated every storyline. i really want a well written tragedy and them giving all the characters so much more depth, let's hope for the best! (i always appreciate your long answers to the asks you get, because i think there is a lot of great discussions to be had about iwtv and it's nice to read what people think without it being derailed by some weirdos)
You're making me reconsider, maybe you're right that Lestat will still idolize Marius in the show at least on some level. Lestat is so cynical and has his unique views about evil or if such a thing even exists. He might be impressed by Marius' power and superficial charm and knowledge, and think 'well, i've done all kinds of horrible things to my fledglings, who am i to judge, we're both monsters'. Him experiencing shame and remorse for his actions in the modern time might make him only more likely to view Marius in idealized and somewhat sympathetic light, because he could see the monstrosity he sees in himself reflected in Marius and relate to him, and think that if he himself is ever going to redeem himself Marius must be redeemable too.
Because they seem to be going for some type of redemption arc for Lestat (at least Sam has several times indicated that Lestat has been depicted at his lowest and most awful in the show as a starting point for his character development) i could see them tying it with his relationship with Marius, Lestat initially making excuses for and idolizing him because Marius represents abusive white patriarchal power structures and qualities Lestat still deep down identifies with, and then he'd slowly over the series become disillusioned with Marius and everything he represents. But this is purely a guess, i don't know what will happen other than that i'm confident it'll be better than in the books. Also i really need to reread tvl and qotd because they come up constantly but details are getting fuzzy in my head
#also thanks i always start writing a reply to an ask like i'll make this short and nice#and then i like black out and wake up having written multiple rambling paragraphs lol#mail#sa tw

THE NEWEST PART OF METHOD ACTING WAS SO GOOD YET IT IS SO BITTER SWEET TO ME😭😭😭😭 literally went from “omg y/n finally at peace” to “NOEOEHEIWEHIWWHJWWHWJB” at the ending….
putting that aside ur writing is geninuely so immersive and authentic and just aighwhwjwgsjsshjs u just get it
what im really curious about is eren’s pov during the time period between the rep comeback and the lucky ones interview because i have no idea what is going awn in that mind of his😀 i dont have a single clue on how we gon even get an eren redemption arc or a happy ending from this 😭😭😭
HELLO HELLO MY SWEET ANON! first and foremost - replying to you but also everyone who has sent me such kind, kind (and aggressive) words about the last chapter. I feel bad filling everyones feed with each individual ask (which idk why i feel bad this is my blog but I do I don't want to annoy my moots or my followers) so im gonna address MOST questions ive had with your ask <3 pls don't think I don't see and love + appreciate your words each and every individual person, bc they make me more and more motivated/excited to write
that being said, thank you SO SO MUCH for saying my work is immersive and authentic. this is such a harder write compared to roommates because rather than it being like roommates (which was literally just like fluff no plot romance) I feel like im trying really hard to pour more than JUST romance into this - fame/people pleasing, drugs/addition, female friendships, toxic men/workplaces/dynamics, etc. - and the fact that it's getting across and hitting for you and others makes my heart so so warm. I know it's a silly little fanfiction but it means a lot that people can feel the feels with me - triumphant when y/n gets to assert her boundary, heartbroken when marco dies, forgiving of eren.
especially on my lacy, oh lacy chapter - I was really feeling the depths of comparing myself to other girls and feeling so, like OBSESSED with this one girl who I just think is better that me that it fills me with resentment for her/me/how my brain works. I wrote it into that chapter because it was what i was feeling expecting people to hate on historia/her entire relationship with y/n and I almost cried when every single person was so like....loving of her, of their relationship and never once questioned why she felt that way. like wow, real. art is soothing sometimes. (I am not calling my fic about a 2d man art but you get what im trying to say)
that being said. I got fifty asks begging me to clarify/and or make a happy ending. GUYS I AM STILL THE GIRL WHO WROTE ROOMMATES I PROMISE YOU'RE GETTING A SWEET FLUFFY ENDING THEY ARE ENDING UP TOGETHER THEY ARE SOULMATES THEY ARE FISH TOGETHER.
on the topic of eren and his thought process - I thought hard of whether I wanted to make this a dual pov - more like roommates and decided against it. eren purposely (and sometimes with reason) withholds information from y/n. I have to emulate that for you as readers, but I promise that eren will tell his shit when he tells his shit. and not JUST in the period between reputation and the lucky ones, but all the way back at the start. we're talking met gala, we're talking their breakup, we're talking the reputation songs, the fights they had, and EVEN the interview. all in good time. baby boy is about to tell his truth. y/n makes dumb mistakes but so does he!!!
I hope that clarifies everyones questions and soothes your brains for now!
(and yes. y/n will still be in season four. im not a nutjob.)

💛💚💙💜 for the unpopular opinions ask game
ahh thank you!!
yellow heart - popular ship you cant get behind?
not a massive fan of tenrose tbh. like i Know they had Something going on and were definitely flirting in fear her at least but. i just dont see them working as a Normal Couple. they are qpr besties they are deeply connected in ways they cant put into words, rose isnt sure if she loves him like her best friends or like a crush ten is aroace but doesnt know if he's actually attracted to rose or not they had a passionate midnight makeout session Once and then never mentioned it but you bet they thought about it every day. but they are NOTTTTTTTT normal dating. like super hot take moment i think but i kind of didnt like rose and tentoo as an ending one b/c it strips rose of so much choice and two its feels like a weird sort of ohhh yeahh no they get married now or something its okay <3. idk. like i really really like them together just not in the same way a lot of people seem to be shipping it
green heart - what does everyone get wrong about your favourite character?
A Lot of people seem to characterize Missy as like.... secretly nice all along?? like Yes she does have a lot of softer moments compared to. say. saxon master. but there are a couple of audios even where she's like nice to kids but pretending not to actually like them? and idk it just sits weird with me. like this is THE MASTER we're talking about. she canonically 'set an entire planet on fire to get enough light to put her eyeshadow on' but she ALSOOOO!!!!! had enough emotional intelligence to just. be decent to people she likes. idk. there is certainly an element of tragedy in her character in that she feels she doesnt know how to be good after so long spent being truly awful, that is the main point of her s10 arc, but that seems to have been misconstrued as 'she was secretly nice all along' which just. isnt true. s8 she literally turns of all earths dead people in cybermen and enjoyed it. it also does have vibes of it being a gender thing like 'oh now shes a women shes so much more caring' thats not really it!!!!!!!
blue heart - character whos not as hot as people seem to think?
eleven SORRY IM SORRY
purple heart - character who is hotter than people think?
i would be lying if i didnt have a few 'oh god i'm a lesbian' moments watching thirteens seasons. ahahahahah shes just sooooooooo like most of the time its like yeah okay. woman doctor okay cool. but tHEN also thirteen's in twelves's clothes.................................. and when she gets mad.................................................................. like i do not usually get at all actually attracted to fictional characters or actors but. thirteen.
also missy i think everyone does think she's hot but she is actually the best ever sooooo hehe

Blazar isn't over yet but I feel that the plot here is one of the worst. Even Trigger had a more consistent plot
Agreed tbh
Tho the actual issue with Blazar that I have (and I can sense that we're on the same page here) is that this is basically following the early Heisei formula, which are episodic seasons where theres not much focus on an overall plot.
Personally, while I did grow up with the Showa and Heisei series, I always wanted the series to focus on the Ultra itself, in terms of treating it as an actual character with dialogue, actively contributing to plot development etc, rather than being basically a plot device. Which is why I prefer the New Gen series (And im literally just rewatching them while Blazar is airing cause its boring af)
So its not really the issue of Blazar having a bad overall plot, its just that the focus of the series from the get-go was it to be a episodic season. And I wouldnt really say that the plot is bad, but just too basic. Even Taguchi outright said this that Blazar has a simple plot.
But to us that are focused on continuity of how one episode leads to the next, yeah Blazar is really bad. Like compared with the other seasons where each week im actively looking forward to watching the next episode to see how the plot develops after new revelations have been made in the previous episodes, I literally actively procrastinate from watching Blazar episodes cause I know nothing substantial is gonna happen anyways.
Tho on the other hand, the second thing I look for in a series are the quality of the fight scenes. Which was definitely a disappointment because I honestly expected to see an improvement from Z. And while it too had a pretty simple plot, Z's fight scenes then was essentially the peak of the franchise. But Blazar fell short in this department. But then again, this could all be part of Taguchi's plan to make Blazar a more "realistic" series.
I dont vibe with that decision either based on what it turned out but hey, at least its finally ending lol
Of course not to say that its totally bad tho, because we do have highlights like Niji, Brood Gevalka, introduction of M421 (however little) etc
But overall, I'd give Blazar a 4/10. Completely unmotivated and uninterested to watch most of the episodes, might put it at 3/10 which would make it the same tier as RB which I actively hated how the plot turned out but I dont think Blazar, as boring as it is, is THAT bad (so maybe 3.5? Stay tuned for the final review after the last episode). But at least they did remove cringe content (only cringe I rmb might be the washing machine scene?) so at least thats an improvement?
Movie dosent seem interesting either since there's neither new forms nor crossover
All we can do is hope that Arc would return to the usual New Gen formula

Echidna (ask character meme)
Now the real question is - which version of Echidna? >:3 Let's go with the Echidna Subaru interacts with.
Sexuality Headcanon: She's somebody who would be curious about all forms of love as part of her thirst for knowledge, so I can see her being interested in anybody that could provide a new experience.
A ship I have with said character: Hmmm, Emidona maybe? I've seen some cute fanart and it is funny seeing Echidna lose her shit over Emilia just being nice to people.
A BROTP I have with said character: Toxic brotp has to go to Subaru, but like... any of the witches works. I really want to see more about them interacting, but I've been slacking lately. Oh, and if we're counting all forms of Echidna, then Omega and Palmyra and Colette is pretty interesting.
A NOTP I have with said character: Subaru. I dont mind it if its portrayed as a very toxic ship, where its very clearly wrong, but it feels weird seeing a witch willing to let him die millions of times for her curiosity just have a happy relationship with him. Sends a bad message to me.
Oh and Echidna/Roswaal. That one's just...yeesh.
A random headcanon: Scarfdona has a lot more going on behind the scenes (Capella trying to hunt her down in Cat's Eye, for example) but I have a strong feeling Echidna intentionally made her in a way to obscure certain knowledge (like how she was made, her purpose, memories) just so that if Echidna-As-Omega were to meet her, it'd be a goldmine of new info.
But I could be very wrong! I just want more info on how exactly the different Echidna's matter to the plot.
General Opinion over said character: Very polarised. Witch Echidna was fascinating, I love her long rant in the WN/LN (which got fully adapted in the manga as a whole page spread!! 2000 words over like two pages) and the sheer psychological horror she poses during arc 4 as Subaru's surrogate parent - super good. Her relationship with Beatrice is so cruel but there's so much you can do with that dynamic. I don't care for Echidna and Roswaal's dynamic beyond how messed up it makes Roswaal, but even there I can admire the writing.
But I'm not really fond of the several different Echidna's running around. I can understand Omega, but Scarfdona doesn't even have a unique name. I have very mixed feelings about Scarfdona, from her shortening Ana's lifespan by spamming Jiwald uselessly to her muted role in the Ana camp (Only Ana knows her, despite meeting Scarfdona when she was 12. I know she's an intelligent character but keeping that under wraps for 10 years??) It just feels like that iteration is very lackluster compared to what we've expected from Dream Echidna and Omega.
Thanks for the ask!!
#ask#echidna rezero#rezero#I could say a lot more about scarfdona but im reserving judgment for when I finish cats eye#So far though its a mixed bag#May need to reread arc 6 to properly decide

Hey Minnie! Hope you don't mind me coming into your inbox to ramble, but I had a realization and a theory that I think you might appreciate.
So, I know we always complain about Dominic as The Guy Who Can't Write MK, and I do think he's part of the problem, but I think the real final boss of Bad MK Writers is Shawn Kittelsen.
He wrote the MKX comic, and is thus responsible for "Cassie was the result of a one night stand and Sonya never loved Johnny before MKX" (which is a bullshit interpretation of their dynamic), Hanzo "Sub-Zero is Beyond Saving Let's Just Leave Him For Dead" Hasashi, and probably other awful shit (oh wait, now I remember. Killing off a bunch of characters unceremoniously, for really no reason other than blood. That's just a shitty use of resources)
He started working on the games in MK11, and I'm pretty fucking sure he's responsible for Kotal/Jade (weird because it has no buildup), past Sonya being an unrepentant bitch (telling the father of your future daughter to get a vasectomy when you know said daughter personally is bitch behavior. As is not reading a mission report all the way through. Sonya is an emotionally repressed soldier, duty comes before everything for her. That's kinda the point of her arc in MKX??? But now she's suddenly incapable of understanding the idea that military service is about duty and sacrifice), the weird sexual threats Shao Kahn dishes out (because what the FUCK NRS? That's never been an aspect of the character before. Forced marriage, yes, but you'll note that he has no offspring of his own. Also, that's just a little much for the tone of MK), and probably the Sindel Retcon.
I have no idea what we're getting at, other than "Dominic is semi competent at writing" and "Shawn might just be on par with Stephen King, but only if you're comparing his writing to the sewer scene in IT."
Dont worry, i dont mind at all! I do appreciate this!☺️
And yeah, Shawn is apsolutley to blame as well. I think that the whole NRS writing team hates the franchise tbh(not the whole, but the Ones who write the most important stuff for the games and media). I did hear he was one of the main writters for mk11.
You are right tho, his interpretation of the characters that he did in the comics is pretty much what is ruining them the most(before mk11 ofc). I first found mkx the game and then the comics and without the knowlage of what comic!Hanzo did, i Just Kinda Thought he was Just a vengfull ass, but then the comics are what made me hate him.
I realy want to know what all of these mfs are smoking, cuz it doesnt seem like its good for them.
I also heard that mkx the game and mkx the comic were in production at the same time, so whoever was in charge of making sure they are on the same Page didnt do a good job, since the comics are not even complitely Canon at the end. Mostly cuz they didnt fit in with the game's narative and the characters were off(even they noticed, but a little too late). The "Cassie is a product of a one night stand" is one of them, cuz, in the game, some of the dialogue seems to indicate that Sonya was realy in love with Johnny and they only divorced later cuz of their marriage problems.
Some of their choices for mk11 are just disturbing. Someone Thought of that and actualy presented it and then someone ALLOWED it!
And Ed Boon seems to not give a flying f about what people do to the franchise he has built. Just stands around and hopes it makes him money.
In advance, i apologize if i ended up a bit biased and its complitely alright and understandable if Someone disagrees with me. I am in no way a profesional and probably just letting my emotions do all talking. (imma be honest, im mostly mad cuz the torture Kuai and then make him the bad guy or imply his life is easy)

chapter 4 was A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont even know, i read it and had to process for a bit before i wrote this ask
i really liked that we got to see more of their relationship and its dynamics and also a bit of heeseung and his friends interactions !! rly curious what's the deal with tiffany was that
anyway
what really got me in this chapter was that overwhelming almost sense of how truly possessive and obsessed hee is with yn, surely we could see that from the start but the part when he explained the whole ‘two sides and the first time he saw her and how both of them fell for her instantly” I GASPED, it gave ME chills, bet so much was going on through her head!!!!!!!! the way ethan so daring damnn, every single intimate scene here had me :OOOO from how great it was but u know what got me THIS LINE
“....regardless of your desire to either stay or leave, you wouldn’t have a choice.”
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT HELLO????????????????????? im so so fucking intrigued where we gonna go from here this chapter gave so much but so little for some reason?? im so excited for the next one, godman the wait was worth it !!!!!!!!! weeeee what a ride THANK U THO this series so so so good dear ˖⁺‧₊˚ ♡ ˚₊‧⁺˖
lol love i'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter, the next chapter and the ones that follow will explain more. not gonna lie i did leave you guys on a cliffhanger so its understandable why all the questions are popping up. and tiff, you'll be seeing more of her in the next few chapters and it will all come together, but yeah, tiff is a beotch.
after i posted MGR and MRE, alot of people wanted to know more about heeseung and his ethan side, which were all based off of an original character i made up when i wrote the series, but i did enhance and add a bit more to heeseungs/ethans character in HHP so everyone can see and get to know more about him since his background was so vague in the previous arcs. there's still alot about him we dont know about, but we're at least hearing him out on his personality and his other face. if you recall the mgr/mre arcs, where it compares heeseung to dr.jeckyll and ethan to mr. hyde. poor y/n, she really didn't know what to make of it, because she loves heeseung's gentle, protective, and soft personality, but she's also attracted/intrigued but also scared of the rough, dark, and aggressive ethan side that eludes from time to time. the fact that he told her that both of them fell for her, she was in shock which is why she honestly tried to forget about convo because in a way i guess she felt uncomfortable, but knows that heeseungs (and ethan's) heart means well and that no matter how dark he can get with his other side, he would never let anything happen to her. like that moment when in the final chapter of MRE when she got a little scared of how firm he was being with her but was still protecting her from samuel.
a friend of mine recently told me ethan's vibe (based off of the original character i made up named andiy) is "yandere", which i had no idea what that term meant up until like three weeks ago, but once i researched it and, shit, i even read some yandere enhypen fics to learn more on what she was talking about, and she's right. though it wasn't really intentional to make him yandere, but after learning what yandere was, i could agree with her, he's definitely giving yandere vibes. especially when you read the next few chapters, i've been re-editing the original drafts and it gets...intense. but that's only ethan, heeseung is not at all that way, but as he stated in this chapter, he's learned to develop a balance bc he's knew ever since he was young that he had a dark side to him. and honestly, we all saw the minor switches ever since MGR, when he had moments where he was soft and gentle, but when triggered, he get instantly confrontational and aggressive.

I remember people were very happy with all female characters in JJK too, but then it kinda uh, what even happened to them? All the interesting stories they sort of started are now god knows where, they're as flat as cardboard at this point, and we're kinda far into the series. Maki’s arc could've been so much better, but it all felt dragging to me at this point. It was in the middle of that other storyline that I was much more invested in, so jumping to whatever Maki was doing felt weird, but it's only how I saw it.
I honestly think JJK was overhyped; it carried itself very strongly all the way to Shibuya arc, then the anime helped a ton, and then given into account gege’s condition, the series started to drag. It also did introduce very cool female charas but then ultimately didn't do anything groundbreaking with them. Nobara was killed off, Maki’s arc being warped around that psycho guy, etc. I might not always agree with hori’s depiction of the girls but ye at least they do stuff and play actual important roles. Ochako gets so much hate but she's a solid character at least. Though I don't like compare the two. But yeah
honestly i never really understood all the hype around jjk girls... like they're written ok, but maybe its just personal preference bc i didnt like any of them that much... nobara was fine, maki was fine... but they all feel very same-y. which isnt a bad thing if its gege's type, but i like there to still be variety in characters yknow.
and yeah, a lot of untouched potential.. i mentioned it a while back, but even until recently yuki was a pretty wasted character - stated to be of the strongest grade yet we saw nothing from her until now, and even then while shes able to stand up to geto w help she still got kinda stomped from what i can tell lol. and given we're likely in the midway/second half point of jjk's story as a whole.. its not a good first showing imo
even the animation is kinda overhyped for jjk. i dont like the filter they use over some fights. its all bc of jjk and csm that people want mappa to animate everything... and some of the stuff is done really really well, but it really set some sort of "standard" for most anime fans on how shows should look regardless of schedule.
