I actually think Leona would listen to music fairly frequently. He's a rich kid, I def headcanon he got one of them expensive ass sports cars and probably speeds on the highway blasting music, pissing off literally everyone else tryna drive home from work. His music taste would be surprisingly diverse, too. He'd probably like a mix of 2000s rnb which includes like Rihanna, Ne-Yo, AALIYAH SO OBVIOUSLY, Akon, and he'd be a (not obsessive) Beyonce stan. He'd listen to NYC and UK drill, and since I headcanon Sunset Savanna to be an East African inspired nation, he'd probably have some Kenyan/Tanzanian/Ugandan/Rwandan artists on his playlist too (since those countries are where Swahili is spoken widely.) I don't have any artists to name but if yall know some put me on.

RUGGIE BUCCHI

Ruggie, similar to Leona would have diverse music taste. Probably grew up surrounded by music, listening to whatever was on the radio while cooking sum for his grandmother, and now he uses one of Leona's ten credit cards to pay for his Spotify premium. He def listens to albums when he's chilling on his bed, studying/trying to unwind after a long day of running around. Though he grew up on similar traditional East African music, his favorite genres (IN MY OPINION) would be alternative hip hop and indie music. He LOVESSSSS Kanye West (tcd to yeezus), Tyler the Creator (and honestly all of OFWGKTA), Gorillaz, Childish Gambino, Vampire Weekend, and early alternative hip hop artists like the Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Cypress Hill, etc. He was also probably put onto Britpop through Gorillaz, and likes Blur, Oasis, and (it's a secret tho) he fucks with Radiohead's "ok computer" album.

Jack is a canon gym rat. we already know he listens to music like HELL while he's bench pressing and doing pushups. I think he'd have similar music taste to Ruggie, excluding the "indie" part. (and he probably uses apple music, too.) Jack enjoys alternative hip-hop, and west coast hip-hop. Sleep Token are a rock? metal? genre blending collective based out of England, tho nobody's 100% sure of where the members are from because they are also a masked and anonymous project. Their style of music varies greatly from album to album and song to song. From soft ballads, to electronic music, to indie, to progressive / prog metal, to post-rock / post-metal, and now with their newest singles, a definite shift into heavier sounds with roots in djent and -core genre elements like breakdowns and scream vocals, let's just say they are very diverse and there are not many bands that sound the same out there. Their blending is pretty unique, and imo will prove to be genre-defining in the coming years. They are signed to Spinefarm records and they're touring as we speak in Europe.

They formed in 2016 and self-released their first EP called One that same year. Their second EP aptly called Two was released in 2017 on Basick. They currently have two full length albums out on Spinefarm, 2019's Sundowning and 2021's This Place Will Become Your Tomb, which are the crux of the material you wanna look into. I always advise that you listen to the whole albums front to back because artists plan these tracklists deliberately, so we owe it to them to consume their output the way they intended us to, but! I also realize nowadays nobody does that because of Spotify and streaming, unfortunately, so: for Sundowning, I'd recommend Sugar as a first track because it touches on both the soft and harsh sides of the album beautifully; and for TPWBYT I'd say start with Alkaline (bonus points for a delicious video to get you into their visual side too). On January 6th and 7th 2023, they released two new songs to showcase their new sound, Chokehold and The Summoning. These two singles seem to be the optimal path currently to get into the band. There are rumors of a new album called Take Me Back To Eden to be released this year, there's a tracklist floating around online though we don't know if its legit, and there are also rumors for new singles coming out, at the time of writing this, tomorrow and in two days, on the 19th and 20th of January 2023. There's also a recording of an acoustic show called From The Room Below floating online, with new takes on their previous songs and a few choice covers like Billie Eilish's When The Party's Over, surprising crossovers that are emotional experiences.

Now, visually and in theme, you'll notice the band has a storyline of sorts. The lore of Sleep Token is this: the band was formed after an ancient deity called Sleep (a reductive name that doesn't encompass the deity's nature at all, but its true name cannot be spoken in any human tongue) revealed itself to the singer, Vessel, in his sleep. Sleep appears to be a powerful force worshiped in ancient civilizations, that gave them the blessing of dreams and the curse of nightmares. Since this apparition, Vessel's life purpose has been to worship and make offerings to Sleep via music. The members of the band are all called vessels, we can infer vessels for Sleep. The singer is Vessel I, but the fandom's moved to just calling him Vessel. The other members are just called by their numbers. II is on drums, III is on bass, IV is on guitar. They're all vessels. They wear masks to hide their identities, with what seems to be full body black paint and some variety of stage costumes including hooded coats and capes and now apparently full pauldrons and void wizard staves.

You'll come across some specific lingo when encountering Sleep Token content or in the fandom. These terms mostly come from their official social media so they use them themselves, it's not fan made. "Worship" is the tagline, kinda like "Nema" is with Ghost. You'll see fans telling each other that all the time. To Worship is to take part in enjoying the band in any way you can: listening to the music, watching videos, streaming their stuff, spreading the word, going to shows, buying merch, etc. Sleep Token's shows are called Rituals, like Ghost's. Pictures and videos are referred to as Sacred Moments, or Sacred Moments in Time. The bands they tour with are called Brethren. Sleep Token's songs are called Offerings. Because they are written as a means to Worship the Sleep deity. Offerings can also be in the form of instrument playthroughs, videos, etc. What the band produces. When you listened to new material or acquire merch, you also Consume. A note on their anonymity to finish: while there are rumors about who the band members are, nothing's confirmed and the band's explicit wish is to maintain this anonymity, so it fundamental to respect those wishes and not try to dig. They value art for art, they let the music speak for itself, and they explicitely wish for their music to be detached from who they are as people. Let's leave the magic in place both for them and for us!

The soft thrum of indie music filled the air, bouncing off the walls of the dimly lit living room. Denki couldn’t help but tap his foot along with the rhythm, but his gaze kept wandering—straight to you. You were laughing, voice cheerful and melodic, as you playfully shoved Kirishima’s shoulder. The two were joking around, but Denki felt like an outsider watching them from the edge of the circle. He could barely focus on the conversation happening around him, his attention pulled like a magnet to your smile.

It wasn’t the first time he had felt like this. Every time you two hung out, every time he saw you together, he felt a quiet ache in his chest. He didn’t want to feel this way. He really didn’t. It was complicated—messy even—but still, he couldn’t help himself.

He met you not long after you started dating Kirishima. Funnily enough, he bumped into you before his friend was able to introduce you. It was at the diner the three of you were set to meet at. For the first time in his life, he was the first one to arrive. He was sitting at a table by the window with his head in his palm, already tired of waiting. When the bell above the door rang, he turned his head hoping that it'd be his friend walking through the door. Instead, it was you. Though he had no idea who you were, he found himself entranced by you. There was just something about you...you were...

Approaching him! The sight of you walking steadily towards him brought him back to reality. You must've noticed him staring at you. But you didn't look mad. No, you were smiling at him kindly. His face felt hot.

"Hi, sorry to bother. I was wondering if you've seen a big red haired guy come through here?" You asked him in your sweet voice. His mouth felt dry as he looked for the words. He swallowed before answering.

"I- I haven't, sorry." He responded. He pulled himself together enough to continue more confidently. "You're more than welcome to wait with me if you want." He accompanied his offer with his typical smirk. It was a shot in the dark and he honestly didn't expect much out of it. You were way out of his league, but the saying goes 'you miss every shot you don't take'. He was prepared for rejection when you surprised him by taking a seat across from him.

"Sure, thanks for offering!" You smiled brightly at him. "I've never been to this place before, do you have any recommendations?" He couldn't fucking believe it, momentarily too stunned to speak. Never in a million years did he think he would be sat across from a girl like you. But he certainly wouldn't let this once in a lifetime opportunity slip between his fingers.

He spoke to you with confidence. You told jokes and made him laugh then he would return the favor. He told you stories to keep you entertained. The two of you lost track of time together. Nearly a hour had passed before Kirishima finally made it. Denki had noticed him before you did, the blonde preparing to shoo his friend away to have more one on one time with you. Before he got the chance, you turned you head to see what he was looking at. A smile brighter than any of the ones he had seen yet spread across your face.

"Hey, Babe!" You called, standing up to greet the man with a hug which he gladly returned. The word 'babe' rung in Denki's ears like a gong.

"Hey, guys! I see you two found each other!" Kirishima smiled back. "Denks, this is Y/N, my girlfriend. I wanted to finally introduce you two."

Of. Fucking. Course. You were his best friend's girlfriend. That's his shitty luck. He should've known it was too good to be true.

"Well, its about time you got here. Didn't anyone ever teach you not to keep a lady waiting?" He jokingly chided, ignoring the way he felt inside. He could put those budding feelings behind him. He needed to be a good friend and it was as simple as that.

But of course it wasn't that simple. Despite his decision to bury the way he felt about you, the feelings continued to resurface. Little by little, his feelings for you had deepened, blossomed into something that felt dangerous, something he could never express.

“Denki, you good, man?” Kirishima’s voice snapped Denki out of his thoughts. He was smiling, his broad shoulders taking up most of the space in the room. He had his usual fiery energy, always enthusiastic and good natured, but Denki couldn’t help but notice the slight tension in his posture.

Denki smiled weakly. “Yeah, just… just thinking.”

“About what?” Kirishima raised an eyebrow. How could he tell his best friend that he was lost in thought thinking of his girlfriend? Thinking of your eyes, your smile, your soft looking lips that seemed so kissable-

Denki shrugged, trying to mask the shift in his mood. “Nothing important. Ya know...just zoning out.”

You turned to look at him, your lips quirking into a small, curious smile. “You sure you’re alright, Denki? You’re looking kind of lost in space.”

Denki swallowed hard, wishing the ground would swallow him whole. You always noticed. Always.

“Yeah,” he said, his voice a little too high-pitched. “I’m good. Really.”

Kirishima clapped him on the back, his usual grin wide and carefree. “Don’t worry, man. You’ll snap out of it. Let’s grab a drink or something.”

You turned back to Kirishima, your focus back on the conversation, but Denki’s mind kept replaying the way your eyes had briefly lingered on him. Had he imagined it? Or were you really wondering what was going on inside his head?

The next few days passed in a blur of schoolwork, hangouts, and stolen moments. It wasn’t as though Denki didn’t love hanging out with both you and Kirishima. He did. It was just… different now. He couldn’t escape the weight of the feelings he’d been carrying.

You raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Denki, you’ve been holding out on us?”

Denki’s face flushed a deep red. He quickly grabbed his drink, taking a big gulp to cover his nervousness. “Nah, it’s… it’s nothing. Just some stuff I’ve been listening to.”

You leaned in a little closer, eyes playful. “Come on, you’re always hiding the good stuff from us.”

The proximity made Denki’s heart race. Your eyes were so close, and in that moment, he could smell the faint scent of your perfume—something soft and sweet. He swallowed, trying to push down the sudden, stupid surge of feelings that rose in him.

“I’ll make you a playlist sometime,” he said, trying to sound casual, but his voice cracked slightly. He hated how obvious he was being.

Kirishima didn’t seem to notice, his attention drifting to a passing waitress. But your gaze lingered on Denki for just a fraction longer than normal, and for a moment, it felt like time slowed. Your eyes softened, lips slightly parted, and Denki had to fight the overwhelming urge to reach out and pull you closer, bringing your lips to his and ruining everything.

But he didn’t. He couldn’t.

“Alright, Denki,” you said, smiling brightly. “I’m looking forward to it.”

How your hand had brushed his when you’d both reached for the last French fry at lunch. How your laugh made his heart skip a beat. How, on those rare occasions when you had to walk somewhere together, your presence beside him felt like the most natural thing in the world.

For a moment, he hesitated. Then, without thinking, he blurted it out: “I’m in love with you, Y/N.”

The words hung in the air, and for a moment, it felt like the world stopped. You blinked, your expression unreadable. Denki’s heart pounded in his chest, the fear of rejection gripping him.

“I… I’ve been in love with you for a while,” he added quickly, his voice soft and wavering. “I know you’re with Kirishima. I’m sorry. I just… I needed to say it.”

You were silent for a long time, gaze dropping to your hands. Denki held his breath, afraid to hear the words that he ultimately knew were coming.

You remained silent for what felt like an eternity. Denki stood frozen, his heart thumping in his ears, terrified that he’d made a huge mistake. Maybe he shouldn’t have said anything. Maybe he had ruined everything—his friendship with you, with Kirishima, everything. He felt sick, like he was moments away from spilling his guts all over the ground and embarrassing himself even more.

He opened his mouth to backpedal, to say it was all a joke, but before he could, you slowly lifted your gaze to meet his. Your eyes were soft, almost sad, but there was something else in them—something he couldn’t quite place.

“You… you’ve been in love with me?” You asked, voice quiet and unsure.

Denki nodded, feeling a weight settle on his chest. His stomach twisted, and he fought the urge to turn and run, to take back the words that were already hanging between them like a fragile thread.

The cool breeze tousled your hair, and you hugged your knees to your chest, looking small and vulnerable. Denki’s heart ached at the sight, wishing he could take away your unease. You weren’t angry, but you weren’t happy either. He could feel the distance between them growing, like a wall slowly building that he didn’t know how to tear down.

“Denki,” you started, voice barely above a whisper. “I… I had no idea. I mean, I always knew you were a little different around me, but…”

You paused, biting your lip as if you were choosing your next words carefully.

“I care about you, Denki. A lot. You’re one of my closest friends. But I don’t feel that way about you.” Your words hung in the air, heavy with finality.

EAH Music Headcanons

I am slightly too scared of people judging my music taste to share the ever after high playlists I made so instead I will share some headcanons I have about their music taste!

obligatory mention that dexter is the biggest swiftie and convinced raven to get into her music

usually though raven prefers goth or punk rock music, maybe some metal when she's angy, some alt rock, but she has a sweet side and is trying to go against her mom so she also gets really into tswift

apple is kind of a basic baby gay UAHFJDJF like girl in red and phoebe bridgers vibes

darling likes oldies, billy joel, elton john, I need a hero bonnie tyler, etc etc (side note: she is okay with taylor swifts music but she is so fed up with dexter being obsessed with her)

90s music is faybelle and briars THING (although faybelle acts like she doesn't like it but she totally does) like NSYNC, backstreet boys, Selena, destiny's child that era is so them TO ME

cupid is open to listening to literally anything like she loves all music so much and she picks out songs for her radio show that she knows milton would never allow but he hasn't noticed yet so she keeps doing it (but if she had to choose she probably leans towards r&b, hip hop, chill vibes, and anything super unique, AND OFC any type of love song)

ashlynn loves anything relaxing, mostly classical music, jazz (loves laufey), indie, and folk (her playlists would have super ethereal, cottagecore picnic vibes) oh and! Ghibli music or music with those vibes for sure

hunter likes similar music to her but leans more towards the folk side (he likes listening to relaxing music to calm down when he gets too fed up with pesky)

Cerise likes indie rock and alt rock, but also I feel like she secretly loves some really girlypop Taylor swift songs

Cedar I think would enjoy r&b and classical (tho maybe more like movie soundtracks...) And maybe some folk and indie as well (like cupid she's probably pretty open to anything)

Duchess obviously listens to some ballet music just for practice BUT I think she'd also have a music taste that's really embarrassing to her and one time someone overheard her singing really badly in the shower (like to one direction or smth idk)

I just thought of this on the spot but maybe Humphrey likes edm LMAO

The wonderlandians are my fav characters but I don't have a solid headcanon for their music tastes because I think it would be so purposely chaotic and random and eclectic and strange

VINNY:

Vinny loves post-punk and goth music, like Joy Division, The Cure, Swans, The Fall, Depeche Mode and New Order. But when he gets asked to put something he likes on, he puts something like Prodigy or Infected Mushroom on, to look cool and not to "bore" his friends. And because he genuinely likes those as well.

Also i cannot NOT project my own coping mechanisms on emh characters, so i think (before the events unfolding, while Jessa is still alive and everything is normal) that boys like to meet up and share music AND their feelings in the format of : "This is how I feel : *Numb by Linkin Park starts playing*".

JEFF:

Jeff feels overwhelmed at his hospital job, feeling that he is responsible for everyone and everything, so most of the time when he doesn't have to work with patients, he wears headphones to ease his mind a bit, usually listening to something rhythmic (+1 point if the track doesn't have any words).

Jeff would be such a fan of Twenty One Pilots. This band is so him coded.

I think that Jeff and Evan would bond over their love for AJJ (again, im projecting, I KNOW). But Jeff would like the deeper details of the lyrics, and Evan would be like, "yo thats fire" because of the interesting sound.

EVAN :

I think that Evan has a Walkman cassette player, and he prefers cassettes to CD's, because "they sound worse". 

And the glove box in his car is filled with checks and old bills, and cassettes that don't match their package, for example, an AC/DC cassette in a Metallica case, etc. 

imo im convinced that Evan would be a huge lover of nu metal, im talking ALL OF IT. im talking Limp Bizkit, im talking Papa Roach, im talking Slipknot, Linkin Park, Skillet, KoЯn. Every time he gets a chance to get a record, he would spend his last money just to headbang to new edgy song while driving home.

And OF COURSE he would like Gorillaz. I think it should be canon, it's so obvious.

I think about Evan and his taste in music like this scene in Scott Piligrim where Ramona has unnecessary amount of different teas.

HABIT :

Evan can't stand MCR (i know it's a hot take, i know), but HABIT loves them, especially when he gets to rearrange and clean his weapons, humming along while putting on a show, like twirling knives in the air or threatening an imaginary opponent.

If talking about my favorite purple bastard, I think it's really for music to get stuck in his head, and sometimes it can result in pretty hilarious (although still horrifying if you know the context) things, for example him throwing out the "trash" *wink wink* and not noticing how he sings something he had heard on the radio.

Just imagine HABIT humming ABBA or some 2010 white girl music. This brings me so much joy, you have no idea.

STEPH:

I think Steph would hide her preferences, until she feels safe enough to share some of the music she likes, and if a person she shares it with likes it as well, she would spend hours and hours talking about every little detail in lyric and sound and how it all has A DEEPER MEANING! She would be right, tho.

I'm convinced there was a situation where she gave an Evanescence cd to Evan with "this reminds me of u" written on the cover. I don't make the rules.

She probably writes some lyrics she really liked "to put them into her art later" only to forget about it.

🎵Kaneeka would require vast knowledge of anime OSTs and jpop that I simply do not possess, possibly with some new wave mixed in. I can imagine her and Reese hanging out and listening to New Order together.

🎵Oscar would have some flavor of dad rock, remnants from his wild long-haired youth. Plus mournful latin music, which he sings along to on car rides with Rosalina, like his dad did with him (she doesn't appreciate it now but she'll think of him every time she hears it until she is the one singing along and embarrassing HER kids)

🎵Tabitha is tough bc she doesn't "get" music, so it'd have to be vibes-based only (rather than being stuff she would also listen to). And her vibe is dark folk. I do have Folk Music Knowledge (acquired by growing up in the south), but I mostly listen to old shitty recordings of songs about spurned lovers, not modern dark folk (lesbian flavor or otherwise).

Anyway those are my thoughts on the characters' playlists/music tastes. It's fun to write this stuff :3
