Summary: Let's just say when your daughter is coming, Lando isn't the best in this crisis compared to the ones on the track.

With the birth of your son less than ten months ago, you were ready for your daughter to be born.

Don't get it wrong, you loved being pregnant because you had an excuse for when you wanted more food or when hormones got too much.

But it doesn't mean you like the over overprotectiveness of your husband, and you could do virtually nothing other than sit there.

Normally, you love your husband's overprotectiveness, especially when other guys don't get the memo and ignore the ring, but you can barely stand to go to the bathroom without him worrying about you moving too much.

You couldn't travel anymore so before you couldn't travel anymore, you moved back to England temporarily to get help from your parents, from Lando's parents and family.

So you could rest while they watched your son.

It was the week of Silverstone when things felt differently, you told Lando, and he had the team update him on everything every few minutes that he was on the track.

So when Race Sunday came along, and you woke up with contractions and had Lando take you to the hospital only an hour before he had to be at the race, which you made him leave to attend and told him to win the race for his daughter.

So, that's what Lando did; he raced, with the pit wall giving him updates on you every ten minutes.

He won that race and did the podium and an hour of media before racing off to the hospital to be with you.

When he arrived, you were asleep, and no baby was in sight.

You woke up to the slight shuffling he made entering the room.

You watched as he looked around the room for your daughter.

"She went for testing about twenty minutes ago. She'll be back soon. And your son will be here with his grandparents around the same time," You tell him quietly as your throat feels so raw.

"Did you name her?" Lando asks as he stands next to your bedside, holding your hand and running his fingers over the top of your head. He kisses your forehead and nose before resting his forehead on yours.

"No, that's is the honor of her father," You told him as you closed your eyes and kissed Lando's lips.

Lando waterly smiles and kisses you again as a nurse comes in holding your daughter.

"Oh, you must be dad," the nurse says as Lando nods and takes the baby from the nurse as she hands his baby over to him. "What would you like to name her?"

"Alaia. Alaia Valeria Norris," Lando doesn't look up from his daughter as he says her name.

You watch on with a smile.

You know Lando panicked the whole way to the hospital that morning and after he left, because he was worried about you, about your daughter, about any complications that might arrive, like that in the delivery of your son.

Another way you are sure is because if you hadn't gotten to the car yourself, you're sure that you would've been forgotten at home until the hospital.

But in the end, it was all worth it. You watched your husband win a race again, and you are watching your little family grow larger with each passing moment.

Every hardship that the two of you had to cross to get here was worth it.

Worth it for the endless love you feel for your growing family.

Hi all,

Just a quick announcement that we have a new member of the team joining us at Dropout! Some of you have met him already, although you may not have realised it—he worked on A Game Most Changed and Escape the Greenroom in season 5, and Bingo, Deja Vu, Beat the Buzzer and Sam Says 4 in season 6, doing some of the hosting in my place.

And before you ask how that can be, this man is my exact doppelganger! He’s a time traveling alien who, for the moment, we are calling Other Sam, because we’ve agreed that the name he’s chosen is not exactly appropriate in a workplace setting. He’s here on a kind of rehabilitation program, as shows like Game Changer provide the sort of enrichment that he needs, without him having to resort to things like planetary conquest and murder. We also have him to thank for our new studio—he has kindly allowed us to use his (currently grounded) spacetime machine to record in, seeing as he did blow up our original studio. On an operational basis, nothing should have changed with the studio, but I do recommend you don’t go poking around in cupboards, just in case.

I promise on everything dear to me that this is not a joke.

I hope you’ll all make Other Sam feel welcome! So there’s minimal confusion between the two of us, he and I will be taking care to differentiate ourselves (he says he will try and look, in his words, “more evil”, although I’ll admit I’m not quite sure how that will work).

Series leads and producers, if you would like to include Other Sam in one of your shows, please let me know. He’s a lot of fun to work with, and he’s promised us his best behaviour, so I can guarantee there will be none of the aforementioned planetary conquest and murder. Of course, the wellbeing of all Dropout cast and crew is my highest priority, so if any of you are not comfortable working with him, please let me know as well, and production and I will ensure you are not cast in the same episodes. In future seasons of Game Changer, we will be sharing the hosting duties, so if you’re on an episode, it’ll be made clear which of us you’ll be working with.

On a related note, you know I hate being the bearer of bad news about mandatory seminars, but there is a training seminar next Monday on psychic defence techniques. This seminar is a requirement if you’re going to be working with him, and even if you’re not planning on that, I’d strongly advise coming along anyway.

Many thanks for your email, and for letting us know about Other Sam. You don’t need to confirm or deny this, but I’m assuming he did something to us during the Deja Vu recording. I haven’t felt entirely comfortable around you since then, and until now I haven’t been able to find a logical reason why. You mentioned psychic defence techniques in your email, so I take it that there was some kind of mental fuckery involved—perhaps a memory wipe? 

I don’t know what he did, and I’m not sure I want to know, but whatever it is, I don’t think it’s good. I would very much appreciate it if I don’t have to work with him.

Batman #149 by chip zdarsky is mostly unremarkable, but I'm really fascinated by how it makes a great case for 'good' endings not saving 'bad' stories*. Because there's a lot of interesting concepts in this issue (bruce having to deal with his rapidly aging and decaying clone making him think about his own life, re-establishing a 'nest' so to speak for his family after pushing them away, etc) but bc of the OOC slog that came before it, almost every moment w/ the batfamily comes off as unearned and disingenuous imo.

Like, everything with Damian is the perfect example in this. Because in isolation it's...fine. admittedly it's a missed opportunity to not go deeper into how Damian would feel about a clone of his dad who tried to kill considering Damian's relationships with clones of himself (the heretic rejects and respawn) or with former enemies who wanted him dead but who were manipulated and/or brainwashed (like suren and maya).

Zdarsky doesn't go into any of this but you could maybe excuse it as the issue not being about Damian. However, coupled with the previous bizarre characterizations of Damian in 147 and 148, it ends up not being fine- instead it starts to feel...icky how Damian (who, despite often being drawn and written as white, will never have his connection to the non-white al ghuls forgotten and will always be effected by racism even when not portrayed as a poc) is constantly written as overly violent, uncaring and narrow minded in this run. Coupled w/ trying to recanonize the morrison origin for Damian it's like. OH this is badly written and laden with subtle bigotry, sick**

That's me going into detail on it with Damian but it's applicable to other things in this issue- the way Cass, Steph and Duke have all been ignored or turned into jobbers makes their inclusion in the 'family' here feel hollow instead of satisfying. Bruce proclaiming that Zur was still a part of him and he needs to accept responsibility for his actions (when it means taking in clone son) wrings hollow when just last issue zdarsky was bending over backwards to separate Bruce and Zur bc otherwise the Jason thing would get really awkward. Ends are achieved through means that feel hollow or strange. I'm at my destination but damn why'd the bus have to do all that???

I only really have opinions on this latest arc of zdarskys Batman bc it's the one I've read the closest (bc I'm a hater, masochist and avid follower of even the bad damian storylines) but it's not saying great things.

Bc zdarsky can do one thing good in this book, and it's write Bruce and Tim. And yet this entire story, whether of his own volition or editorial mandate, includes other characters who aren't Bruce and Tim, the fabric starts to unravel in very telling ways.

(p.s, I think pennyworth manor is an interesting idea but I feel like in execution it's just gonna be 'bruce living in a house haunted by the memory of the people he couldn't save' but with a different dead guy this time. Illusion of change and whatnot)

*whether or not the ending is good is up to you ofc, as is your opinion on the proceeding arc! I saw some ppl complain that the ending was too "WFA" for them, which I get even if I dont think it'll literally be the same premise. If anything it's probably a lead into the new tec run. Likewise many ppl who aren't in the weeds of Damian and Jason characterization liked the previous arc! But I have my opinions and rest my case before the bench

Summary: Jimmy is the only sober person at the New Years Eve Party and it's not too fun without his Rancher.

Jimmy pulled at the end of his tie, frowning at the crowd of people. Everyone Grian knew and their soulmate was here, and despite the avian living in what could be loosely called a castle, it was packed wall to wall and louder than an enderman farm.

He could just see Tango across the room, gesturing widely with a drink in his hand that was half empty now and not because his soulmate had sipped any of it. His smile was the only reason Jimmy had tolerated the last hour of this party.

The first hour (hour and a half if he was being generous) was actually fun, but being PG meant you didn't drink and apparently none of the others cared about their content ratings.. not that it actually mattered here, during a party with no cameras or watchers or viewers or whatever turned on then, but saying he was keeping his PG rating was apparently reason enough to make people laugh and stop offering him drinks. So, long story short, he was sober in a sea of tipsy and drunk players and the near incomprehensible conversations had gotten tiring after a while.

He just had to wait till the clock struck 12 and they'd be out of here. Just another few minutes and the fireworks will go off.

He should make his way to Tango, the two of them should be together when the clock strikes. However that meant getting through the crowd, and that felt like a monumentous task at the moment.

The front door was to his left. He didn't want to just leave but standing at the edge of the crowd in the warm, liquor smelling home wasn't any more appealing. Hearing some fight break out was the last straw however. It was a drunken shouting match between what looked to be Cleo and Martyn with Scott holding her shoulder tightly, a feeble attempt to keep Martyn from getting his nose broken.

Jimmy was sure it would dissolve in a minute, and Grian was already making his way over to them to keep his party from becoming a full on brawl; so, with one last ruffle of his wings, he headed out the door.

The air outside was bristly, wind blowing through his hair and feathers and biting at his skin, sending a chill down his spine. With just a few steps from the door the grass was crunching under his feet, dried in the December cold.

Once the sound of music and shouts and laughter had died down he let himself drop to the ground, looking up at the galaxies above him. He didn't bother trying to count the stars, he wasn't so bored to start an impossible task, but he did lift a lazy finger to draw loose shapes between clusters.

He didn't turn his head as a pair of steps started from the door and crunched through the same grass he had; simply resigning himself to having to talk with someone that was probably too intoxicated to remember where they were let alone this conversation in the morning.

That is until two bright red eyes peered down at him, "Hey there Rancher Bud, thought I saw you sneaking out. Not enjoying the party?" His soulmate smiled, amusement in his voice.

He couldn't help but smile back, reaching up to touch his Rancher's face but coming up short. "Not really. Didn't want to spoil your fun though," he answered, "Everyone's drank a bit much for my liking."

"Ah, I see," Tango nodded sagely and sat down by his head. Jimmy dropped his arms back across his chest as Tango placed his hands on Jimmy's cheeks. "Don't think I've ever met a cowboy who didn't like a good whiskey."

Jimmy pouted, "Well this cowboy is fine staying sober, thank you very much."

"Alrighty," Tango replied, rubbing circles with his thumbs and warming Jimmy's cheeks, "I've had.. mmmmm, maybe three drinks? Two and a half? You okay to kiss this cowboy with his whiskey lips when the fireworks go off?"

Jimmy snorted, "Whiskey lips?"

Tango shrugged, "Something like that."

"I don't know," Jimmy hummed, "Sounds like a terrible idea, kissing you."

It was Tango's turn to pout, "But- But you're my soulmate, my rancher buddy, we gotta kiss at midnight, it's, like, law or something."

"Well, if it's law I suppose I got to, don't I?" Jimmy mused.

Tango nodded his head furiously, "Uh-huh, sure is. So we're gonna smooch right? I can- maybe I can see if someone's got a mint?"

"It's alright, you'll get lost if you go back in there." He placed his hands over Tango's, closing his eyes for a second, "I don't mind it that much, just as long as we can talk to each other still and you're not going to start calling me names."

"I'm not gonna call you names, Jim," Tango answered, "You're my Rancher, no one's gonna call you any more names while I'm around."

"You're a sap," Jimmy giggled.

Something squealed in the distance, making both them pause with confusion before a blast went off in the sky. Red sparkling the sky for a few seconds before being joined by blue then yellow then red and blue again, and so on, each coming with a bang and sizzle. The fireworks. It was midnight.

Tango laughed above him before leaning forward, "Happy new year, Rancher Buddy."

"Happy new year, Rancher Bud," Jimmy repeated, propping himself on his elbows.

The kiss was awkward, they hadn't bothered turning their heads and their chins bumped their noses and Jimmy's nose wrinkled at the bitter taste of Tango's mouth. They pulled away, laughing at the ridiculousness of it before Jimmy properly sat up, "Again?"

"One more time," Tango chuckled.

They closed the gap properly, it was a little less awkward, but their noses bumped and Jimmy was still grossed out by the taste. They laughed again as they pulled apart.

"This is dumb," Tango said, placing a hand on Jimmy's leg.

"We're kind of idiots, aren't we?" Jimmy giggled.

"Just a little," Tango agreed.

The third kiss wasn't perfect, but it was definitely close enough for them.

Breakdown of Deviantart’s new AI policies

if anyone still thinks the deviantart thing is just miscommunication, i took the time to read carefully all their infuriating word salad, and here’s the important thing about their new AI:

“While DreamUp is based on third-party technologies (like Stable Diffusion) which have trained their models with the open web, DeviantArt does NOT and WILL NOT add images submitted on DeviantArt to these training sets, on or off the platform.”

Translation: of course we wouldn’t ever steal you art! We’ll just use the thing that has already stolen your art. The thing we said we disagree with. We doing it. Yeah.

Also, about that opt out form going around:

“Artists should be able to choose whether or not AI-images can be generated in your style. Artists who meet the criteria in our manual human review of applicants will be able to request an opt out of their username along with several desired pseudonyms linked to them be unavailable for use in DreamUp prompts.”

Translation: artists should be able to choose if their art style can be used by AI or not. But screw them, we’re choosing. Meet our criteria if you want to opt out. We’re not telling you what the criteria is. Except we kinda do, in the form, and it’s beautiful:

“Currently, we'll be approving this ability for free to artists who are most likely to have been sourced by Stable Diffusion. In this first version of the opt-out process, we will only be considering accounts that follow best practices, including but not limited to:

An up-to-date email (must be the same one associated with your DeviantArt profile)

Currently = this criteria may change at any time I guess! They will protect your art! They love artists! They’re just keeping their options open in case they wake up tomorrow loving them less. Reliable business model!

including but not limited to = they legit don’t wanna tell the whole criteria lmao. I know people are already filling out this form and I hate to say it, be ready for disappointment, because they clearly are paving the way to be able to deny it for literally any reason. This should be a case study of obfuscation via stupid vague legal wordy stuff.

The “for free” part is also terrifying as it implies they have considered and are still considering paywalling this. You’ve heard of $8 for blue checkmark, now get ready for $8 for basic art rights! Except for that part I covered early where your art is already stolen, of course.

The up-to-date email thing again means that people locked out of old accounts are being opted in against their will, and they know, and they’re deliberately enforcing it. Note that this form isn’t about your art being used in datasets though, it’s about your style being used as a prompt for the AI. Nevertheless both things should be opt out by default, as that how consent works.

I legit don’t know what to say about the social accounts linked in your profile. They are likely gonna say it’s to help verify the person’s identify, and it makes no sense at all as social media isn’t for that, as recent events have taught us more than ever. The email tied to your account should be all a service like this needs. As I said, they clearly wanna keep their options open to deny people through whatever criteria they pop out of a hat that day.

TL;DR everything DA says about avoiding art theft in their AI is word salad to confuse their users, their AI is based of one that has trained on stolen art anyway, and their opt out processes are way too convoluted to not be intentional.

Yes, I am aware! I remember finding that interesting when reading about on Bulbapedia when trying to understand the Go-verse. Not sure if they would expand on it or not in pokemon Go, but it's certainly an interesting backstory.

I will admit, I was pretty disappointed with Cliff's personality. Before really reading into his quotes, I got the impression that he was the "I don't want to hurt you, but I'm loyal to team rocket so I'm gonna" and I thought that would be interesting cause I don't think we've gotten that type of team rocket member before? The only one that I remember is that random npc that battles you in radio tower I think that basically goes " what? A kid?! I don't want to hurt a kid, but I if I must....". In hindsight, I should have just expected that, and my disappointment is kinda silly all things considered. I got my hopes up based on nothing lol.

Anyway, I know Cliff's loyalty towards Team Rocket is due to them saving him in the past. It's really interesting and I hope that they expand on it more!
