3. What fandoms do you write for?

stargate atlantis is the runaway lead, then sg-1, 90s/00s treks, the x-files, and a grab bag of other things. only two fics so far for m*a*s*h but the forecast looks good!

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

no sooner met (star trek voyager, j/c, eight years of friends-to-lovers in 5k or less)

career day (stargate sg-1, clone!sam/jack, damn that sure was a choice to go back to high school amirite)

next chapter (the good place, chidi/eleanor, the intimacy of reading)

first date (star trek voyager, j/c, falling in love again)

occupational hazards (the good place, chidi/eleanor, eleanor would rather not be the architect)

5. Do you respond to comments?

eventually!!!! i tend to keep nice ones on my home page for a while to cheer me up and then sometimes they get buried. i wake up nights like "damn the good place fandom really went all out with amazing comments on that random fic in like 2018 and i never replied," so maybe i need to go through my inbox and belatedly clear my cosmic debts.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

twilight (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir, what if john didn't break the cycle). strong on style but real weak on comfort.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

weaving loose ends (stargate sg-1, sam/jack) ends with a wedding! in twenty years of writing romance fic, that has maybe only happened once?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not yet! but the year is young.

a fic of mine did cause a dramatic fandom schism once, in the dancing with the stars fandom no less. a splinter fan group created in exile! a mod claiming to be personal friends with the stars! everybody storming out and then blocking each other! so my fic did cause hate, but somehow i personally escaped unscathed. i didn't even get blocked. (lesson: in some spaces, rpf is encouraged until They Fuck. second lesson: if you start a fire and then stay very quiet, everyone forgets about you.)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do!! i guess!! but i'm struggling with it right now and it's giving me a complex. and "what kind" is like......... vanilla het fic for the most part tbh. gauzy curtain vibes, even. basically, i have to really sit and think about whether to rate something M or E, you know?

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

nope!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

nope!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? 

yes, but not since the x-files days. rip geocities webrings we salute you for your years of service.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

no, but i think i'd like to! passing chapters back and forth sleepover style like "haha write your way out of THIS" would be fun. (or collaborating in a more mundane way, i guess....)

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

john sheppard/elizabeth weir (stargate atlantis). first fic in the tag and i'm still fuckin there. three years on tv and a lifetime in my goddamn brain.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

realistically, i'm feeling pretty down on the chances that i'll ever finish ANY wip that's longer than 20k, but the two long ones withering on the vine that i'd like to finish are a sam/jack sg1 episodic soulmate fic and "what if janeway went undercover with the maquis instead of tuvok: the novel."

16. What are your writing strengths?

stealing one of geneeste's answers because "character complexity" is a good one! i don't feel satisfied with any fic unless i feel like i have learned something new about a character, or highlighted it in a new way.

my more specific strength, according to @coraclavia, is missing-scene fics that weave through an entire series canon to make a thesis statement (they are In Love).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

😭 i can't write anything long 😭 i really wish i were different 😭 i envy those of you with staying power who can return to a story after going to work or writing something else and keep plugging away at it. i used to write sprawling things when i was a teen, but since becoming Adult With Job now many years ago, i've totally lost that skill!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

haaaahahahaha. talk about a weakness. i literally couldn't bring myself to write a fic that required dialogue in Ancient from stargate, a language that -- i cannot stress this enough -- is not even real. i'm like "well maybe i'll study latin for three years and then analyze all the episodes where they speak it to reverse engineer the differences so i can write the bastardized space latin correctly" GIRL WHY. JUST FUCK IT UP.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

first completed story that i recall would have been star trek voyager in my early teens, and by the grace of rural internet and some kind of prescient sense of self-preservation, it does not live online. first internet-published fic was several years later, for the x-files. for better or worse, that one can still be found.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

i think pieces (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir, catharsis through sex pollen) might be the new best, and i had a lot of fun writing erasers on pencils (stargate sg-1, clone!sam/jack, catharsis through truancy).

Stargate (1994) live blogging:

Ok so I'm a huge fan of the SG-1 and Atlantis shows and have watched them in double digit amounts each, but I haven't seen the original movie since I was like 7. I'm about to rewatch SG-1 again and I've decided to finally watch it again, here's my thoughts!

Updates:

- I'm nervous because all I remember is that I hated it which is why I never watched it again

Pretty good movie overall, but I don't think I ever wanna watch it again cuz the kids thing is hella fucking weird, but I understand the show a lot more now! Except for the parts that make no sense because they made hella lore changes between this and the show.

TV Show (Non-Anime): Stargate SG-1 - Re-watching this because it's been a couple of years. I'm already on Season 6!

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Savory. I don't like sweets that much and rarely eat things like cookies or cakes. I'm also intolerant to peppers (not because of the capsaicin, I'm intolerant to the whole nightshade food family) so obviously I don't enjoy spicy foods since they cause me intestinal distress. So out of the list, I enjoy savory food.

Relationship status:

I'm married to my spouse. We've been together for 9 years and have been married for 6. I'm poly, so I also have a theyfriend that I have been with for 2-3 years. Both of them are wonderful people and I'm very lucky that they tolerate me and how freakin' dummy weird I am.

Last thing I Googled: 1870's clothing in America to get to THIS WEBSITE. I use this website constantly since I'm not very fashion forward, but need to know what Glen would wear back in ye olden days, and use this website as a jumping off point if it doesn't already tell me everything I need to know.

Current obsession:

Writing: I'm obsessed with Glen, and Masterpiece, still, after 2 years of starting the story. I am really in love with that character and I have pretty much decided I'm going to write his entire life. I'm also considering writing a story revolving around Ska at some point, since my spouse loves him so much, but that will be years from now.

Non-writing: I just started crocheting, so I'm making an afghan that I've been working on for about a week. I'm also considering starting up a comic but I can't decide if I want to draw killer mascots or continue the universe that Gravity is in. (See the header on my blog to know who I'm talking about).

A not so short introduction

Hello! My name is Milo, I am 28 and have been on tumblr for more than a decade.

I am primarily a fandom blog, but I really post whatever I want. So what you will find here will vary from day to day. My biggest fandoms are Glee and Starkid, but you will also find Woe.Begone, Magnus Archives, Malevolent, Good Omens, Heartstopper, Marvel, DC, Omgcheckplease, Stargate, Farscape, Supernatural, Doctor Who, and any myriad of other pieces of fiction that strike my fancy.

For everything fandom related, I do tag so if you don't want to see a particular fandom's content, feel free to block the tag. For the majority of them, it will simply be the name of the media, but for Glee and Starkid I have specialized tags that I will list below a read more for ease of knowing what to block.

I am a fic writer, though I only recently started writing again. Previously I wrote exclusively Klaine fics but more recently I've switched to primarily writing Seblaine with a sprinkling of Hevans and Klaine. You can find my AO3 here and my old FF.net here. I no longer post to FF.net so if you want to keep up with what I'm currently writing, you'll want to follow my AO3.

Lastly, for the Glee fans. I am a multishipper and I have been for years. I welcome fans of any and all ships and I love to hear theories and ideas about pretty much any ship involving Kurt, Blaine, Sebastian, or Sam. How many works do you have on Ao3? 45.

What’s your total Ao3 word count? 266,872.

What fandoms do you write for? Currently writing for the Star Wars fandom, Clone Wars era. Before that, most recently Avengers and Stargate: Atlantis.

What are your top five fics by kudos? They're all Avengers fics and, apart from the first one, all part of the same series! 1. Darcy Lewis: God of War. 2. A Rebellious House. 3. Eyes To See. 4. Something's Got To Give. 5. The Great Escape.

Do you respond to comments? I love comments! I respond to most comments, but sometimes I don't know what to say to things like the all emoji comments and I won't.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Three Bitter Bastards (Clone Wars). I prefer happy endings, so 'bittersweet' is the closest I've gotten. The main characters get a happy ending, but in doing so, leave people who care about them behind.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? For all that I love happy endings, almost all of my Star Wars fics end in murder. (I mean, Palpatine deserves to die, don't get me wrong, but can you call that happy?) If you count those, then Penguins in SPAAAACE (The Penguins of Madgascar/Clone Wars) is probably the most light-hearted. Otherwise, it's Sheppard and the Sex God (Stargate: Atlantis).

Do you get hate on fics? Only once, and it wasn't exactly hate. More of a constructive criticism of a racial stereotype I was unwittingly perpetrating.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Not so much anymore. I used to write a lot of smut, but you'll only find a fraction on Ao3 and it's tame stuff. The closest I've gotten recently was the main character waking up after an A/B/O heat. Practically PG-13 by my standards considering I used to write X rated stuff.

Do you write crossovers? Yes! I love crossovers! The craziest one is a tie between the This Is The Way-de (Deadpool/The Mandalorian) and Penguins in SPAAAACE.

Which fic are you proud of but wish had gotten a bigger response from your readers? A Matter of Taste (Clone Wars). It's an OFC self-insert, so I totally understand why no one likes it, but it really feels personal to me and I'd really like to hear anything, even what people didn't like about this one.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Not as far as I know.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? On Ao3, only with SirKate. Before that, I wrote a number of Star Trek fics in collaboration with Alara Rogers. I treasure both partnerships. Amazing friends.

What’s your all-time favourite ship? Which fandom? ;> In Star Wars, it's Fox/murder, hands down. While I've never written it, I adore Tony Stark/Bucky Barnes, but am also a fan of Darcy Lewis/Bucky Barnes.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? There's only one, Meanwhile In Tonygard (Avengers). I hate leaving anything unfinished, including stories, but my ex-husband killed my joy in writing for years until I finally rediscovered it in the Star Wars fandom. I can't bear going back to writing the Avengers with his words about Darcy reverberating in my head. I eventually resolved it by writing up my plans for what would have happened and adding that to the end. It's not as good as finishing, but it's the best I can do when I can't stop hearing "So she's a slut" when I try to write.

What are your writing strengths? I used to think it was snappy dialogue, but I've been told that my ideas are unusual and noteworthy. And judging by the response I've gotten in the Star Wars fandom (where I've been writing two types of fic: crack and serious), I have a talent with crack.

What are your writing weaknesses? I don't know what the official name for it is, but I have a problem where my mind goes too fast and skips over things or substitutes other words. So you'll see sentences like "She didn't finish eating clock," instead of "She didn't finish eating her meal." And because of this glitch, I end up having to read and reread my stories to find all the problems -- because my mind continues to glitch, skipping over the mistakes. Other than that, overuse of commas.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'd never done it until I got into the Star Wars fandom and discovered Mando'a and now I find it fascinating translating the concepts to Basic and back again. One of my favorite things about being a writer in the Star Wars fandom is developing new head canons from the culture clash inherent not just in the lives the characters lead but also the world view a language gives you. It's difficult, but I love it.

First fandom you wrote for? Battlestar Galactica, the first version. On paper, in a five-subject notebook. My self-insert, Starbuck and Apollo.

Favourite fic you’ve written? Probably The Only Way Out Is Forward (Clone Wars) series. I couldn't pick a favorite from that one; they hang together too closely to pick just one. I cried multiple times writing these stories.

Every time I do a list like this or share my Spotify wrapped or whatever, people love to tell me how insane I am.

This is the series I have watched the most times. We got the DVD box set when I was about 10, and I had all 7 seasons on a loop for about 6 years straight. It’s why I am the way I am.

A spin-off of a spin-off of a sci-fi movie from 1994. I cannot express to you how much I love Stargate Atlantis. The only time I’ve ever paid money for a photo-op at a convention was for a group photo with Richard Dean Anderson, David Nykl, and Christopher Judge.

Current obsession, very recent. Like I only started binging it less than 2 months ago recent. But it has touched me so deeply, I know this is a love that will last. You’re seeing this on my Red Dwarf blog so I don’t even need to tell you.

Completely faultless. Pobably the best writing in anything ever. I’m waiting to watch it again so I can experience it with a bit of freshness. Cannot recommend enough as long as you don't mind the violence, gore, rampant vulgarity, substance abuse, and abuse of women, children, and minorities. I promise it's really good and I'm not a sicko. It also had a movie that rocked my socks.

This show is very loosely based on Alexander Dumas’ The Three Musketeers, which is a story that has been adapted on screen many many times. This one, however, is my favourite. I have never been so inspired by a show. Besides everything I made in my Red Dead days, the most I've ever contributed creatively to a fandom was Musketeers. Which is interesting because as an historian I shouldn't like this show at all. But what can I say? The characters and the stories hold everything up so well it's easy for me to ignore all the historical inaccuracies.

I still think about Rose Tyler. And Martha. And Donna. And Wilf. Not such a fan since the Moffat days which is a real shame. But Doctor Who was so important to me growing up I can’t not include it here.

One of the best comedies ever made ever. I’ve loved the six idiots since childhood when I got really into horrible histories (which led me to a degree in history that's been interrupted). I’ve also loved everything else they’ve made (I wish I had more room to include Yonderland) but Ghosts is really special.

I wish I could include more historical reality shows here too because the genre is quite important to me. As a student, I invested a lot into researching the early 2000s fad, and I may still go back to that project and eventually work on producing a better version of historical reality television. That's my dream. Frontier House is a favourite though and a really good introduction to the concept.

Lemme preface this by saying some of your questions about me I'm happy to answer, but others I'd like to leave until after the reveal if you'd still like them then. Gotta try and make it hard to identify me if you let curiosity get the better you.

Jongdae is a sweet man and deserves the world, I'm so happy for him getting the family he's wanted. Hopefully, we'll get a new album from him eventually. Did you have a favourite of his songs? Or a favourite bit of his from an exo song?

I do game a bit, although I've never played mass effect or far cry, I stick with the final fantasy and legend of Zelda franchises. Though assassin creed did catch my eye during the ff15 crossover event and I briefly contemplated playing it. I get the finding some semblance of peace actually...final fantasy 15 has a fishing option too though I'm more likely to pop that in and follow the storyline as I wander the world rather than fish. Same goes for Zelda really, I'm more of a start the game over and revisit the world and actions through the story line sort of person.

Problems are a valid creation lol. But gif making? That's a labour of love as far as I'm concerned, I've seen what goes into making gifs and gif makers have all of my respect for the work they do. Same goes for fic writers, fanartists, etc theres so much that goes into producing fan content and its amazing what people do for the things they enjoy.

What sort of things do you write? I'm afraid I haven't familiarized myself with your work. Do you have a favourite genre to write for? What about reading while we're talking about it?

Speaking of reading I squealed so loudly when I read the words gunslinger!!! That is one of my most favorite series ever in the history of ever. Please tell me you've read all of them. Lie if you must lol. Really though, "The man in black fled west across the desert and the gunslinger followed" is an epic opening line and it gives me chills even just typing it out. And don't get me started on when Jake told Roland "Go then, there are other worlds than these." And then purposefully fell. One act that sent Roland on his path to further redemption. The whole series is a masterpiece truly.

You said horror and scifi....I'm not much for horror, but some sci-fi I can do. I generally stick with fantasy and comedy and dramas tbh when I consume media. But there are a few notable exceptions namely the three star franchises...Stargate, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Also Doctor Who...not that my brain equates the doctor with sci-fi lol. Though some are more familiar to me than others. What sort of sci-fi are you into?

Uh most watched YouTube? Well my go to channels are nate the hoof guy and north of the border. I tend to stick them on as background noise since they're easy to follow along with without having to actually pay attention. I do listen to music sometimes when I create though when i do its whatever helps me concentrate best at that moment. Sometimes it's something wordless so I can just immerse myself in whatever I'm working on, or it's a certain song on repeat that I can fade into if that makes sense.

Best part of fandom is its people tbh. As for what I like to create....edits, moodboards, fic, eventually I'd like to try my hand at videos and sound mixing there's a few mash-ups on YouTube that are so cool. I also like to create food, and I love to fingerpaint. I absolutely suck at it but it's fun and messy and a great way to relax, I highly recommend it!

Speaking of creating, I'm not sure what I'll have the time for gift creation wise so how about you give me a few suggestions for themes for the edits or the moodboards, ( I can also do icons/headers/lockscreens) and maybe what you'd be looking for in a fic? Au?, type(angst,fluff,slice of life etc)? member?, that sort of thing.

Now for a a few new questions.... do you have any blog recommendations on here? People you enjoy interacting with or content creators whose work you enjoy. How about exo fanarts or artists? Do you enjoy those? Do you have any favorites?

Jongdae does indeed deserve the world! he's so lucky, too, to be blessed with not just one child but two! My favourite song of his is definitely Good Night! So, so beautiful T_T and definitely one of my favourite songs of all time.

oh heck yeah!! FF and LOZ! I have a FF on my shelf to play but haven't gotten around to it (I have many brand new games on my shelf that still need to be unwrapped, I'm so behind >.<). I don't have a Switch so I haven't played BotW but it sure does look fantastic. I think my last LOZ game was... A Link to the Past on GBA... no, nevermind, I just checked and I had Phantom Hourglass too. But my favourite was Wind Waker on GameCube!!

I'm hoping they remaster the first AC! To me, in my personal opinion, not confirmed (I'm just hoping!!) they kinda hinted that maybe they would?? at Ubisoft Connect this year! so I'm really hoping!! because I never actually finished it T_T I got pretty much to the end, too. Le sigh. I'm so close! But I lost my original save files on one of my earlier consoles >.<

I'm hesitant to replay older games because everyone is doing remasters or remakes these days! I bought the DLC for the Mass Effect games a few months before the remaster was announced with all the DLC included lmfao

I started playing FC6 again the other night (never finished it, oops) and my first achievement of the night was for catching fish so I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed with that mechanic haaaa.

I get that! I like to replay games for the story, too. Sometimes I even lower the difficulty if I'm in a mood to experience the story rather than the gameplay. That way I can finish it quicker! And I won't do 100% completion runs (like checking every planet in ME).

I mainly write... well, I was going to say smut and yandere but my fluff masterlist is the longest so I definitely sneak those in quite often. Though I will admit I haven't written space-based sci-fi yet. And if a book or fic is sci-fi or horror, I will try it out. If it's a sci-fi horror or just based in space?? OH HELL YES!! Another Dark Tower fan!! Dude, it's freaking PERFECT! You even quoted my favourite line T_T While it does have one of the best opening lines in the history of ever, Jake's "Go then, there are other worlds than these" really just punches me in the gut every time I think about it!! King really outdid himself with that series, my God. The Gunslinger will probably always be my favourite but I'm enjoying every book so far!

Yes, I love me so good horror! I used to be, hmm, opposed to horror films because every year my birthday was overshadowed with Halloween (lol, don't judge me, I'm opening up here), but now I love them (and Halloween) so much!! And sci-fi... to vaguely quote Markiplier, "I'd sign up on a mission to space even if I knew 100% I would die".

I also don't really think of Doctor Who as sci-fi even though it is! haha, funny. I love the original 6 Star Wars films! I named my kitty cat after Anakin! I haven't watched the new ones yet tho. And, haha, I watched the original Star Trek series after watching the new films. So great, so classic!! I named a kitty cat after Cumberbatch's Khan, too. I never watched much Stargate aside from the original film.

I enjoy any sci-fi that is based in space! Interstellar is my favourite film right now~ and it used to be Avatar which is getting its second film soon!! I told myself I don't even like Avatar that much anymore and then watched the trailer and BOOM obsessed once more haha!

I don't know Nate the Hoof Guy or North of the Border. What type of content do they make? If I had to pick individual channels I like then I would go with Slogo and Markiplier (gaming) and Nick Crowley and Watcher (horror/paranormal investigations/stories etc).

What kind of music do you listen to when you create? Do you have any specific songs/playlists rn? and yes, that makes perfect sense! I like to repeat / loop music when I write, too.

tkkrs having a superiority complex about JK's tattoos is mind blowing to me. The same people who make theories about eyes mics and tigers are throwing tantrums because people think the letters on his hand that are literally Jimin's initials might possibly be related to Jimin and aren't in denial about the observable fact that they stand out among the rest of arMy. The whole thing reeks of insecurity which isn't new but at this point being in denial about the letters is willful delusion you can clearly see that they're a different shade even if you don't agree on the meaning of the letters which if anyone agrees with the member theory technically do agree on but that's a different point. Anyways they're annoying but we have so much else to focus on didn't Jungkook look so cute in his vlog 🤗

It baffles me why they don't simply take the stance of "JK has never publicly explained the meaning behind his tattoos. The J COULD stand for Jungkook and the tiger COULD stand for Tae, we just don't know." That's reasonable. That's sane. If you want, in your fanfic, to have that be your narrative, have at it.

It's the full-throated declaration that it MUST be so in real life. That the J over the M could NEVER stand for Jimin; that the touch-up of those letters HAS to be photoshopped or else it's just FANSERVICE. That's... crazy in the raw.

I think the great struggle of our current time is that we now live in a post-fact world. Never in the history of humanity have common people had more knowledge accessible to them for free, and yet people will cheerfully deny facts in favor of what feels good. We see this play out with policies around climate change. With masks and vaccines during pandemics. With critical race theory in schools. And of course in fandom ships, too (though I've never seen anything as vicious as the cult in fandom space before and I've lived through Gundam, Stargate, and Supernatural).

We can and should fact-check liars and conspiracy theorists all day long, but I have little hope it will change many minds. So yes, the better way to spend our energy is to celebrate the things we know to be true: We know Jungkook touched up JM and we know he memorized the lyrics to With You and chose to put it in his blog. Those are happy things that could signify deep affection and support of Jimin.

To be completely honest with you, I am a huge fan of Jimin and Jungkook and I hope they are together romantically. But I think it best to be a Jikook agnostic. I think there's mountains of evidence that they were attracted to each other and likely acted on that attraction at some point. There's not a MOUNTAIN of evidence RIGHT NOW about much of anything, but I think if we are patient, more will come out over the next year or so. In either case, if I profess to you that Jikook are real, I'm stating an opinion as fact. So rather I will say I THINK Jikook are together, but let's take in all evidence and try to get as clear a picture as possible.

To put it another way: a month ago I had a 34% chance of survival. My cancer was found in the nick of time just as it was spreading and the surgery removed all of it. It was a one in 12,000 chance. My survival rate is now 98%. I cannot say to you that God or angels or fate is real. I can tell you that even though I am insignificant in the grant scheme of the universe, what happened to me was a little miracle, and I intend to be grateful and celebrate it. It's not "proof" of divine intervention--not at all. But whether it's dumb luck or meant to be, my little miracle brings me joy, so I will celebrate it.

I have no absolute proof that Jimin and Jungkook are currently dating each other. But when I see them touch or talk softly or stare at each other, it brings me joy. So I will hold onto that, because joy is hard to come by these days. And if we ever find out they were never together, I'll feel a pretty misled and very sad, but as long as they are doing okay and are happy, I will thank them for the music and keep supporting them. They don't owe me anything.

I think that's the biggest difference between supporters and the cult: a sense of entitlement. Only people who feel entitled throw tantrums.

Fandoms on this blog, ranked by how niche they are (in my experience)

Doctor Who - solidly mainstream. I was first introduced to DW at my awesome summer camp for nerds - which might be a biased sampling, but most of the rest of this list isn't familiar to them. In fact I'm probably at a disadvantage here, not having seen much beyond the Eccleston-Tennant era.

Stargate - somewhat niche. I was introduced to this by my mother and we watched it together, and while public awareness of it seems moderate, I know few besides my parents who've seen it, not counting the friends I showed the film to who I don't think followed up.

The Silmarillion - niche. While Tolkien in itself is mainstream, I only know one irl person who's familiar with the deeper lore (is it any surprise that I want to marry him?). Even my parents haven't read Silm, although I'm working on changing that.

Gilbert and Sullivan - very niche. I wasn't actually introduced to this by anyone, my first awareness being through an Asimov story. While my parents have a DOC recording (well it's lost now) of the three big ones, I did most of the research myself, and still don't know any proper fans irl, though I'm slowly working on finding quality productions to convert my parents with.

Tricky question! I guess it depends on a couple of factors. Mainly, how much kinky/weird shit are you into? 😂

Farscape is one of those shows every sci-fi fan should see at least once just to say you've experienced it. Farscape is honestly not my favorite. But you know what, it was going for something, and it fucking went for it.

Stargate is much more your standard found-family sci-fi show. It's funny, but it's also got drama and philosophical questions. If you like TNG, Stargate is a similar mood except with more USAF propaganda. It's pretty wholesome & you can usually watch it without looking over your shoulder because shit you don't want to have to explain to your roommate is on the screen (*cough* Farscape).

My favorite thing about Stargate is that the main cast have a tight-knit dynamic & the drama all comes from external sources, with the team working together to overcome it. As opposed to shows crammed with interpersonal drama where the cast are always betraying each other. Nah. Stargate teams might bicker and banter but they support each other unconditionally <3

Stargate is a lot though, especially if you start with SG-1 waaayy back in 1997. There's 10 seasons of SG-1, 5 seasons of Atlantis, and 2? of Universe? (I am not an SGU fan; it's divisive 😅). No one will blame you if you start with Atlantis. A lot of people did, and unlike SG-1 which takes awhile to hit its stride, SGA hits the ground running.

Farscape only had 4 seasons, so if you want to cross a series off your list, you'll get through Farscape faster.

A Teensy Weensy Blog Update

I was quite diligently scrolling around my archive feed - privating some posts cause I just didn't like some and others had discourse I didnt care to see in my own blog (however I've kept any more recent ones cause meh - I guess the recent spite is still fresh) but what I've learned is...

a. I make way too many promises I don't follow through with, I mean well, really - but mental and physical health gets in the way and I just usually don't have as much time or interest to delve into all my artworks or post ideas.

b. those projects I promised to make are still rolling around in my brain trying to gain purchase, I cant promise that they'll ever get made or be made soon cause honestly Im having a social media melt down and need to focus on my career, so its all up in the air - still pondering the future of this blog and my time on social media

c. I have gotten angrier recently and major shocks its because I interacted with Marvel media again. That was my first mistake, really. But considering I will forever love the characters too much to abandon them - and I quite enjoy mutuals and some fans from there, I'll be making efforts to divorce myself from whatever the hell Marvel is putting out now and actually - truly - work on my interpretations of the characters. (Which will veer dramatically away from canon because not so shockingly I actually hate most of canon - I truly do - and oh please don't get me started on the writers, actors, directors that make all this garbage) (Marvel fanfic writers, I love you and only you)

d. I truly need to get back into more mellow fandoms like Garashir and Kurtbastian - cause those places be the bomb. And the bits of DC fandom that I don't want to beat with a bat. They're cool too. :) (I'm up to here with the bs discourse about batcest though - seriously dont @ me whether you hate it - I really just dont care for anti behavior)

e. I'm going to work extra hard to make this a positive space for people to follow me. Ill try to tone down negative posts (not cause I disagree with any of them - but cause I know focusing on the negatives really doesn't do anyone any good - that said don't be a dick to people who need to express their anger at something - that isn't people - basically chill the fuck out y'all and mind your business, there is a blocking function for a reason)

f. Really sad I had to turn off my anon asks cause I really did get some sweet people in there. Y'all are wonderful. I just cant cope with anonymous dick heads. <3

j. Might reblog less???? Not sure. But the amount of posts on my blog is becoming unmanageable (thats a lie, it already is - sobs-)

And yeah, that's it for now. Im still basically on hiatus until at least the new year (and gosh I actually go on hiatus quite a few times I noticed), currently living off romantic comedies and shows like the hardy boys and stargate. lmao.
