I've seen the same post a hundred times now. Sometimes it's a few days old, sometimes it's from years ago, but it's always the same. Some anti posts about how they don't understand how anyone can like Snape because he was so awful, and then there's a long reply that goes something like, "imagine this happens to you, and then this, and then this" to describe Snape's experience. Sometimes there's some James Potter hate thrown in.

Look. You can go through describing a character's entire experience but you don't really need to. Here's the thing that antis don't understand:

For all her faults (and they're big, bigoted ones) Rowling understood a really integral part of the human experience and conveyed it through Snape. Everyone needs love and to feel accepted. It's that simple. Snape became a Death Eater to seek acceptance (Rowling has confirmed this, though I can't remember the source - whoever wants to add it please do), because it was the only way he could find any.

Snape's understanding of morality, like everyone's, is subjective. Some readers understand this and some don't. When faced against a morality that says there is good and bad in the world, everyone makes choices based on their personal experience. Context is everything. Someone who experiences pain and suffering will not see the person inflicting it on them as moral. That's it. 'How can this person be good when they caused me so much suffering?' = human psychology. Most of the people who think 'I'm a bad person and deserve this' have been gaslit and abused into thinking so, because it's not a natural reaction - it's one that has to often be socialized into someone at a young age, exactly because it's not natural. Everyone is the hero of their own story; no one sees themselves as a villain, because they see the valid aspects of their own perspective.

You can write essays on how vulnerable people needing acceptance is what cults and fascists exploit to recruit vulnerable people, or on how the standard anti's un-nuanced reading of Snape both ignores canon and displays a disturbing lack of empathy or compassion, but at its core it just boils down to context. From Snape's perspective he experienced cruelty, therefore the people inflicting it must be cruel. Again, it's that simple. He was a person, like any other, except he was fictional so he wasn't even real. On the flip side is James Potter, who, for all his faults, didn't get to live long enough to get a chance to change and grow unlike Snape, and I think the Snapedom also needs to acknowledge that.

They're fictional characters representing things an author wants to say, not sports teams, not martyrs, and not all good or all bad emblems that define your identity depending on how you feel about them. It's depressing how much time is wasted arguing with bullies and trolls whether from the Marauders fandom or just random antis. I literally can't find more than three blogs to follow without this argument coming across my feed daily. I know the Snapedom is Not OK™ and that's kind why we're all here, and I know that my take is super unpopular but like Snape, I don't care what others think: this fandom has been having the exact same argument for years and nothing has changed. There's fanart and meta and fic and so much content out there appreciating this character, you're not going to change an anti's mind who's deliberately trolling in the tags, so why are you trying? What are you getting out of it? What does it give you? It's exhausting just scrolling past it.

Phobos is the god of fear, panic, all that good stuff, so obviously those traits would be passed down to his children

And a special power of Phobos is allowing those he makes eye contact with see their deepest fears,, lets say that that’s an ability that children of Phobos can do to an extent!!

So the first time you and Annabeth meet, it is NOT on good terms💀

Sent out by your father, Phobos, to mess up some quest Percy was sent on, an order from Ares himself, there's a face-off between you and Annabeth

Like, Annabeth is so ready to take you down the second you show up to disrupt their quest but she just can't seem to shake off the shivers and chills going down her body once you appear

And you already know how Percy cares for his friends so targeting someone whose close to him (Annabeth) was an open option

Cold sweat rolls down Annabeth's face at point, her heart slowly speeding up as you look toward her

The second you make eye contact with her BOOM

She immediately goes into panic mode when she feels something crawling down her hands

She can only start screaming in absolute FEAR when she sees hundreds of spiders crawling on her body, dropping her dagger to the ground and trying to swat them off her to no avail

And the worst part is that literally no one can help her because they can't even SEE what she's seeing and feeling, except you!

Yeah your meeting is the worst memory Annabeth has of you💀

Fast forwarding to after your meeting, you get caught in some trouble with a dangerous monster and dun duunn!!

Annabeth saves you because she knows its the right thing to do

And you're so touched by her action despite the literal hell you put her through after showing her worst fears that you just

Join their quest and decide to become her friend (or at least try to)

Annabeth would be super awkward and nervous around a child Phobos solely because of her first encounter with one

Whenever you try to talk to her, she just awkwardly looks at you

You see her somewhere at camp and brightly wave to her, she's doing a quick wave and speedwalking away

But it's low-key not her fault😭😭 Whenever she's around you she can't stop the way her hands get clammy and her heartbeat speeds up

It's something you can't control but you have this aura that ignites fear in anyone near you

I don't think a friendship could come from this unless you were to apologize for what happened

It could be the worst apology known to existence because you don't know how to properly express your feelings, but Annabeth appreciates the thought behind it!

After that, everything is a little smooth sailing

She would slowly get used to your presence, getting used to your aura and knowing that you most likely won't use your power to cause her harm (again)

It would take some time for you two to become close enough for her to see you in a romantic light, but you still manage to break down her walls

Your constant figure in her life makes you a part of her routine

She’d give you a nickname, something dumb like panic pants

The dating life with Annabeth wouldn’t be too different tbh

You guys still bucket with each other, throwing lighthearted, sarcastic comments but theres a more sweeter vibe

I think Annabeth still gets a little blushy with you cuz cmon! She still has a MAJOR crush on you even if you’re dating🤭

Somewhere in a relatively unpopulated part of Spider HQ, Miles and Hobie were walking and talking. Actually, Hobie was listening to Miles vent, but he didn't mind. He probably hadn't talked about much with anyone. The two slowed their walk to a stop, and found supports to rest their backs on while they faced each other and continued talking.

Hobie: I can't say I agree with you mate, I think you're a bloody good Spiderman.

Miles: But that's the thing! The second I got here, I've been treated like a danger to everyone. And now everyone's acting like it never even happened! And me escaping this futuristic joint, beating the other me, and stopping Spot all in one day, was all by the skin of my teeth!

Hobie raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything

Miles: -And don't get me started on Gwen and Peter. They're trying...but I don't even know what to say to them now. I wanted to see them so bad before I got here and- hell I don't know... I...

Miles sighed and hung his head for a moment

Hobie: I understand, you've had this stirring around in your head like a neverending mixtape. It's good that you're letting it out. Things may not be the same anymore, but thing is the most consistent thing about life is its inconsistency

Then some weeks back I had a crush on that girl that let me escape from Miguel before I was launched to Earth 42. Come to find out she's taken already. I swear I have such bad luck with this stuff you'd think it's a canon event.

Miles tries to laugh it off, but Hobie can tell the smile doesn't quite reach his eyes.

Hobie: Well mate, flirting is a skill forged with confidence and experience. You have a damn good personality, and you don't even need to try if you're just being yourself. Plus, somewhere there's a bloke out there who understands you and truly appreciates you for who you already are

Miles was caught off guard by this and felt his face heat up. Hobie was just hyping him up, being his straightforward self. He still wasn't used to hearing compliments like that...but he had to recover somehow before Hobie noticed the look on his face.

Miles: How are you so sure?

Hobie smirked

Hobie: I was this sure the whole time

Miles chuckled

Miles: Oh really? Then how about we make a bet. If you can find one person like how you described in a week, then I'll buy you that new guitar amp.

Hobie: Alright bet. In fact...I can think of one person right now who would like nothing more than to swoop you.

Miles looked around confused, then looked back at Hobie who had a smug look on his face

Miles: Who?

Hobie leaned off of the support he rested his back on and walked forward, steadily closing the distance between them. Miles' eyes widened and his heartbeat sped up as he finally understood why.

Erjon of the Wind Island

Ok, I'm writing this at midnight and it's probably coming from my sleep-deprived mind, but here's an idea what I need to write down before I forget it ヽ(￣～￣　)ノ:

Well we all know that the Wind Island test was just an illusion unlike the SGT on Earth 2 and this is because the Sound of the Wind would not have enough power to create an entire alternate dimension based on anyone's worst fears of the challenger who is going to do it σ(￣、￣〃).

We also know that due to the curse Cale never tried to form bonds with Min Ah, So Hoon or the rest of Team 1 but they still cared about him and were just as loyal as any member of Cale's family ( ‾́ ◡ ‾́ ).

Well, what if that were the case for the butler boy we see in the Wind Island test (ᓀ ᓀ)?

Let's say that he became very worried about his master after seeing him act in such a strange way and he decided to follow him because of that same concern ~(>_<~).

This only grew after seeing the way he spoke (or rather questioned) everyone he crossed, it got even worse after seeing him pick up a book that he already hated too much to even approach (｡•́︿•̀｡).

Well, he follows him from afar, not close enough to hear him but close enough to see him.

He watches everything that happens in Super Rock Villa and after he enters the top floor he gets very worried because he can't see it without giving himself away.

He hears the sound of a book hitting the floor and, alarmed, runs in only to see him "commit suicide" (ﾒ﹏ﾒ)

He panics and while trying to stop him he accidentally falls out of the window with him, causing him to somehow reach the real world (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ.

Can you imagine his panic when he discovered that the world where he lived his entire life was nothing more than an illusion? That the monster that appeared in every horror story was real and was at its maximum power?

And that's not even counting the shock of trying to stop the suicide of a loved one and knowing that you're about to die only to wake up in a cave full of dead mana with a younger version of your lord ( : ౦ ‸ ౦ : ).

What's more, let's say that he cannot remember anything from before the moment the test began, there is not a single memory, only information full of holes that he knows is true until he no longer is, worse yet? He didn't even have a name! ლ(¯ロ¯"ლ)

Finding out all of that would give him an incredibly big identity crisis, the chaos of the destruction of Wind Island would definitely be worse with a preteen suffering from an identity crisis.

It's more thanks to him that everyone discovers that for an entire week Cale was trapped in an illusion of his worst fear and had to commit suicide to get out of it to get the flask and the whip (╥_╥)(they don't know that the flask could be obtained easily and Bud never tried to get him off the island so everyone thinks the test was to get the jar out and improve the Sound of the Wind ╮(￣_￣)╭)

Eruhaben will feel incredibly guilty and will probably drink the entire flask, not wanting Cale's sacrifice to be in vain.

Bud will be worse than in canon thinking it was all his fault.

The children of "x" years of age on average will be very overprotective.

Ron and Beacrox will be more lenient than usual with Cale and at the bottom will be our butler boy.

Still in crisis, he decides to follow our young master, not knowing any life apart from him, despite questioning whether his affection for him was just another part of the illusion (ಡ‸ಡ).

Cale upon finding out this tells him to do what he wants and that if he is going to accompany them he will need a name or alias ( ̅́ ◡ ̅́ )

And he (Cale) ends up choosing Erjon as his name, which is of Albanian origin and means "our wind" (of course, the latter only after at least two hours of discussion about whether Cale will give him his name or Erjon should choose it, It turns out that even in a more than traumatized state of mind they are both incredibly stubborn)

well considering im still following some moots of over 10+ years that still regularly reblog new art and fics for fandoms Ive seen called "dead" many times in the past, fandoms that havent had new content in years, it's probably not

also, the older the fandom, consider how much more ridiculous your claim is. if the media is from fucking 20 years ago and still getting art and fic in any capacity, I dont wanna hear shit about shit being "dead" because there was a slow month of content on tumblr.com

What is really happening?

well if its for an ongoing fandom and there's a noticeable slow period, ask yourself... are we in-between episodes? in-between movies? in-between games? the fandom is not dead, sheesh. everything naturally slows down a while after canon content stops being made. doesn't mean it's dead.

what is happening is that artists and fic writers and other fandom enjoyers that are still out here making plenty of "content" for you (to absorb in 2 seconds and then demand more like they're machines, btw) see your dumb little comment and look around like ???

like ok what am I, chopped liver? I'm still out here making plenty of content, am i dead to you?

what are you doing to keep the active community alive and motivated? are you actually liking and sharing their art? reading their fics and leaving nice comments?

orrrrrrrr do you only care when its your favorite artists making content?

its like. very obvious when its the biggest artists who arent making art anymore cause they moved to a new fandom or whatever and suddenly here come the "the fandom is dead" posts

i know from experience that it just makes everyone else feel like they dont "count." theyre just the backup "favorite" artists when the real "favorite" artists are away, because you don't have a choice anymore.

it feels so god damn disrespectful and dismissive. like thank god i will draw whatever tf i want whether it gets 1 like or 3000 but whenever i see that kind of comment I cant help but go "well the fandom is dead apparently so I guess I'll just throw my ideas and wips away huh???"

and most people are kind. i dont think those big artists would be very happy to hear you're dismissing an entire fandom's worth of creativity just because they havent drawn for it in a while

i keep saying artist but this goes for anyone who contributes to fandom in any way. even just posting headcanons and stuff is participation. and those fics need people to read them, after all.

ive yet to see any fandom actually die. but you will kill your creators' motivation if you keep saying its dead

You know, I'm quite glad that we're getting the fanon vs canon concerning Elu Thingol and the Sindar in general into focus a bit. When I first came to Tumblr, it felt to me as though I were just about the only one who cared about him (which of course was never the case, but I at least had no-one to talk to about my elf).

But there's a stale note to it- that it seems there must be more fighting, and hardened fronts, more never-ending discussions that always burn down to one thing- do we accept canon or not.

And really, I don't want to go down that road anymore. I really don't want to spend so much time quoting and explaining and re-reading to make sure I get my argumentation right only to have the other side say stuff like 'yeah, true, but I still get a different vibe so I'm gonna ignore canon and keep hating'

And while I really want to emphasise that there is nothing (!) whatsoever wrong with feeling a story, feeling characters and liking or disliking them (yes, happens to me, too. Canonically, Aredhel has done absolutely nothing wrong, and yet I really dislike her), basing actual character-bashing on these 'vibes' is a problem. Excluding people who defend their favourite characters with CANON from discussions. Making up yet more hateful fanon. Accusing people of certain political beliefs because they like the Sindar (and yeah, I did delete a lot of what I've written here. It just... this makes me so so is angry, but starting to insult people is not what I want for this post, so I deleted, and sat on my fingers until I was able to pick up civil tones again).

But I can't change it. I can't change what other people think, and who knows, maybe I'm no more right than they are. Maybe there is no right. Maybe we could accept that this fandom is vast enough for ALL OF US?

So dear fellow Sindar-stans, let's stop arguing and fill Tumblr instead with the content you want to see. Share your headcanons, write your fanfictions, draw and share your fan art.

Let's discuss it all, dive deep. Comment on the works you like, ask for things to be written. Yeah, I have an obsession with character death, I find grief and mourning an incredibly beautiful thing to write and read about, and as I kill off my favourite characters in general, Elu Thingol's death is my prime motive. (who would have guessed, ey? 🤣) And I'd love to read it from time to time, rather than always write it myself. But that is my very specific hyper fixation and understandably not everyone's cup of tea. But give me all those tender moments of love and friendship and loyalty. Give me the conversations between Elwë, Olwë and Elmo on the journey, give me Daeron's backstory, give me Mablung and Beleg standing unwavering behind their king. Give me drunk Elu and Melian and HER found family. Give me an insight into Nimloth's head. Give me loving reaper-like comics with Elurín and Eluréd and Námo Mandos. And hell, yes, all you talented artists out there, give me some spicy Elu and Melian, please? Give me an insight into all those tender moments. Give me the moment of their reunion, and please please please will anyone draw the moment that Elwë stumbled into Olwë's arms on legs that would not yet carry him (lol, ok, that's too specific. But I have that weird hc that Elves that are released from Mandos need some time to get accustomed to their body again, like a butterfly needs to dry after it emerges from its cocoon).

Random but i miss 2020/21/22 when the KawaSara fandom was so active, now i barely see people talking about them or making content. Someone needs to bring back the KawaSara fandom somehow😭.

Ikr? its not much but I am trying to bring the fandom back to life as best I can but Im pretty much a one woman army lol plus a lot of personal life stuff has had me busy which hindered my efforts a bit that Im trying to make up for now, starting with hosting this years KawaSara week since the original organizers didn't do it last year and didn't appear to be going to this year either, so I took over because I knew we had support, fans were telling me how sad they were that it didn't happen last year and was begging for someone to organize it this year, so I took that upon myself to do because I didn't wanna see the week not happen this year either because nobody else stepped up to make it happen.

It sucks how so many got run off by bsa constantly harassing them and making them fearful of even making content for the ship because they knew they would get harassed and didn't wanna deal with it.

Alot of ppl also lost faith in the ship, which is understandable, but stupid IMO because there are ships that have gone through worse than KawaSara and became canon but for some reason ppl treated this like 'oh no, conflict, no way this is happening' and Im just like...danm yall really don't know how shipping works huh? but I mean to each their own but like Vegebul is right there if you wanna see a ship thats been through some REAL shit and look at em now.

It's like todays new age shipping everything has to be smooth sailing, super healthy, super pure, minimal to no conflict, for ppl to ship it and believe it'll be canon when that just isn't how it goes.

Like I even saw a shade tweet one time talkin about 'I actually like my ships vanilla, whats wrong with actually wanting a healthy ship built on mutual respect and positive development without any conflict or drama etc' and Im just like...OK? who tf said you couldn't? but these newbies actually treat shipping like some purity contest and have a weird superiority complex for liking the 'healthier' ships and anyone who doesn't like the 'healthy' ship are weird and horrible and don't care about xyz characters etc

Its so dumb, and childish, if all storytellers followed their logic then we wouldn't have some of the best ships in fiction because only the 'healthy' ones would be canon.

Nobody is saying they cant like healthy ships, but doing so does not make them superior to anyone else nor does it give them the right to dictate what other ppl should ship simply because they disagree and think only healthy ships should be supported, thats what ppl have a problem with. You can argue the opposite side has done the same but there is a big difference in severity between the two, 'healthy' shippers act way more superior and aggressive than 'toxic' shippers [as they call them] are.

But on the bright side KawaSara week has been announced to be happening this year and a surprising amount of ppl liked and retweeted it, so it just goes to show KawaSara fans DO still exist and enjoy the ship, they just went quiet or into hiding because of the harrassment.

And guess what? even tho the event page was specifically tagged KAWASARA don't you know antis 'somehow' found it? not even a day passed since it was posted before multiple antis flocked to the announcement to talk shit, that is a prime example right there why KawaSara fans got so quiet and discouraged from making content and talking about the ship, because THIS is what happens when you dare not fall in line with the BoruSara hivemind cult.

If you dont treat Sarada like Borutos exclusive property whos whole world and character revolves around him, then you don't care about Sarada or her feelings

Their logic not mine, so if you dare pair Sarada with someone other than Boruto who they believe owns her, then you don't care about her. If you don't support the narrative THEY set for her regardless if its been confirmed or stated as a canon fact or not, then you don't care about her because fanon interpretations > canon.

This is why I say this behavior screams insecure, I dunno how you could be the most popular ship with the biggest fandom and the most support, a hug in both the anime and manga, being 'fed good' more than any other ship, yet still be THIS triggered by KawaSara just EXISTING

keep in mind this is the ship they claim is dead, a crackship with zero chance of happening, yet they get so riled up everytime KawaSara is mentioned or so much as have a crumb together they all flock to try and discredit and undermine it, if KawaSara fans just have even a tiny bit of fun and happiness with the ship they come flocking to discourage you and make you feel bad.

That level of obsession with a ship you claim has NO CHANCE and is a non threat because your ship is already canon and set in stone, admit it or not, but their behavior screams that their threatened and arent really confident in their ship themselves which is why they feel the need to try and keep KawaSara down to lift themselves up because its the only way they feel secure, by making US go away, and when we don't, they get mad, because for some odd reason they just cant stand to see another shp besides BoruSara getting attention, love, and support, it drives them MAD.

Which is why you cant convince me their not insecure about their ship, that their not threatened by KawaSara, because to put it into perspective think about it like this, do you see SNS being bothered by SasuHinas existence? no right? know why? cuz their secure in their ship and don't feel threatened by SH, so SH is free to exist openly without SNS harassing them because they don't care, SH is irrelevant and has zero impact on them.

Thats how you would think BoruSara would be given how they boast about themselves, how much they have going for em, their popularity, their support, many moments, you'd think they'd be on cloud 9 not even paying little ol KawaSara and BoruSumi any mind but they do, and for some reason its KawaSara especially that gets under their skin more than anything which is strange tbh since thats the ship thats not even semi canon yet.

Lemme put that into perspective, they are more insecure about a ship thats not even semi canon yet, than BoruMitsu, BoruSumi, KawaAda and BoruAda that are semi canon [since many bsa also ship ksu] let that sink in.

I dunno why they have such a specific hatred towards KawaSara, maybe its because a lot of them hate Kawaki, and because Boruto is the top male prize and Sarada is the top female prize in their eyes, therefore nobody else is good enough for them but each other. And by top prizes, Im talking primarily about eugenics and status.

Read between the lines, what was Sakura? the pretty girl all the guys wanted, what was Sasuke? the cool handsome guy from a prestigious clan all the girls wanted, now what is Sarada? the cool pretty Uchiha princess, what is Boruto? the cool young lord all the girls fall for, their not subtle about it at all.

They discredit Sumire's feelings as insincere so she don't feel like a threat, they diminish and downplay Kawakis bond with team 7 and insist he's not even a part of it, they weirdly were fixated on Kawaki's body being inorganic and therefor concluding he was infertile and therefore couldn't have kids and therefore that'd be the end of the Uchiha clan if she was with him [which is telling of how they perceive her that her primary goal in the relationship would be popping babies, not love] they deny Kawaki as a part of the Uzumaki fam, saying he's unworthy, Naruto should disown him, etc etc, to keep him as the worthless orphan that deserves to die they want him to be.

Again, read between the lines, they dont give a danm about Boruto and Sarada together fr fr, this ship is about eugenics, this ship is about being able to brag about the young lord baggin the Uchiha heiress/Hokage, its about bragging rights, its about having the ship with the 2 biggest prizes, its about OP babies finally fulfilling their long weirdly held desire to see what those clan bloodlines mixed together would create, its about saying you don't want SS 2.0 except when its the ship you want then suddenly its A-ok

Yes I know all fandoms are guilty of this, but none like BoruSara, why? cuz its a far bigger fanbase with more support and they use it to their advantage, doesn't help that a lot of boruto stans support the ship as well as many Sarada fans [mostly Boruto stans tho] they even have SS and NH support too, so you cannot compare it. Their a much larger fandom with way more support that makes it extremely easy for them to bully every other fandom because their much smaller and they know it, everyone knows it, but they get away with it cuz whos gonna stop em? their the biggest and the loudest and therefore are right by default because the smaller fandoms are just 'haters' and 'jealous' 😒 lemme stop here

Bottom line I agree, it was nice back then before Ikemoto changed so much when he took over the writing after Kodachi left, ever since then he has completely butchered Sarada's character beyond recognition, not because she understandably cares and worries about her friend, but because thats ALL she cares and worries about, I don't think anyone has even noticed that Sarada hasn't mentioned Naruto or her mother once since the timeskip started besides that one speech that wasn't about either of them, but just about her defending Boruto, not about any grief over her idol being killed, not remorse for sending her dad away and leaving her mom without her husband, no the one and only time she mentions them is to defend Boruto which is abusmal, she didn't even mention her own dad until Boruto MADE her ask about him.

If thats the ship you want me to support then Im good, I don't want a ship where her only personality trait, motivations, goals, and character as a whole revolves entirely around a man and nothing else, just how to make HIS life better and being there for HIS pain and growth and only lifting HIM up while staying in the background doing nothing and having nothing going on for herself.

I know this may sound like 'but wait that makes it sound like KawaSara wont be canon' no Im not saying that, KawaSara is not off the table even with all that bs Ikemoto has done so far, like I said with Vegebul and just shipping in general, just because things look bad doesn't mean you lost, you haven't lost until somethings made official.

Are BoruSara together? no, are they semi canon? no, have either of them been shown or confirmed to have romantic feelings for each other? no, so nothing is lost yet, even if they were semi canon that still wouldn't be a loss because the other half has to reciprocate, like just cuz Sakura, Ino, and Karin liked Sasuke didn't mean he had to reciprocate any of them, just like even if Sarada liked Boruto doesn't mean he has to reciprocate those feelings or vice versa.

The only time a ship has truely 'lost' is when its actually dead, like one half of it dies for example, or its rival ship gets together, or their relationship is ruined beyond repair, like to the point of no possibility of redemption, only then has a ship truely 'lost' and 'died'

So no, none of this is me saying KawaSara cant still happen, it definitely can, especially with Ikemoto and Kishimoto saying Kawaki would be getting more development soon so there's that, if we get more Kawaki focus there might be some Sarada focus in there too in between. I don't wanna speculate tho but thats just a possibility Im throwing out there.

Regardless, sorry for the rant, but I'm really frustrated by this too because its 2024 now and ppl still cant leave KawaSara tf alone? thats what I meant when I said they take advantage of their size, they know they can silence us, but nobody can silence them, and that pisses me off but what can you do.

Neya & Thor are the only two applicable options here when it comes to things outside platonic/familial relationships. Opacho is 5 and Jack is also just a baby, but she's like best frienemies with Faolan. I know when you hear OTP its usually referring to romance but I'm super big on platonic relationships being OTPs!

That being said Neya x chemistry, she's not overly complex but Neya is a kind-hearted and deeply supportive type of character who despite often being in situations where she's in way over her head, is willing to persevere and overcome whatever obstacle that may be, especially when it involves people she cares about! If our characters build a relationship through our writing then I will never say no to it! This also applies to Thor! They have a good relationship built through us writing together and/or chatting about stuff via messages I'll never say no.

Hoo boy ok. So, Neya, for her era (and the author even states this in the manga) at 16 she's considered an adult. On that alone I'd do 2 years younger and 4 years older cause I'm just trying to think of how it'd be from her time period. Now, this ONLY applies specifically for [main verse || itsuwaribito] when she's in her canon universe or some other feudal-era settings. I understand she's still 16 and other people don't vibe with that, I don't force anything on people (at least not intentionally, if you ever feel like I write something that makes you uncomfortable please tell me!) and romance is never my first or main priority, I like crushes/gradual friends to dating/lovers etc when writing anyway. This also obvi needs to be discussed first cause duh. Also, I'm fine with like 'x character looks 16/17 but is actually 100+ years old' (I’m an Inuyasha girly uwu, so we love a good demon/immortal s/o pairing).

For the verse where she's stuck in the future, [verse || under a rock] she is by modern-day laws legally underage. I'd go for 2 at most maybe 3 years older, 1 year younger. For the sub-main verse set at the end of the series with her running her village [verse || nanushi] she's canonically an adult there so I can deal with 10 years older or whatever and when it comes to the monsters/demons/immortal characters, so long as both parties are consenting adults it's cool!

Thor's a talking rodent. He's adult age and would be considered a young adult by human standards I suppose. So as long as the other creature is adult-aged it wouldn't matter to him. I can't put too much thought into this one, trying to make the math make sense is gonna hurt my brain, but obviously NO child-age creatures.

Hmm, not really? I have a very chill and go-with-the-flow type of mindset when it comes to building relationships and shipping in general. Ok, after getting some answers on what multishipping is from an RP standpoint, I want to say yes I am. I'd have no issues with having multiple ship partners. Every character interaction is like in their own separate universes so like I can't understand limiting myself as a single ship. This is subject to change but like I said, I barely have any shipping experience.

miquella in the running for one of the best soulsborne characters ever oh my GOD i love his whole everything. what a fun fascinating fucked up lil guy. what a good year for beautiful awful well-intentioned extremists and their plans for utopia. it's impossible to say whether he's a Good person or Bad person but you can't deny he does both good and bad. at the very least his intentions and goals come from a good place but his methods and values are uhhhhhhhhh something else. i love it!

I'm a ship and let ship kind of girl but one thing that does grind my gears a bit is those antis who deliberately tag there anti sylki posts in the sylki tag. I have got way too many newly blocked accounts since the finale its kind of disheartening and also annoying, its not that hard to probably tag your posts.

But anyway there were quite a few posts of antis gloating about a couple of interviews that Sophia did and claiming that she hates the sylki ship so I figure ok lets talk about these interviews. Here's the first one:

First off the part saying Sophia isn't super into the idea of sylki as a couple isn't a direct quote from Sophia, so this could be the interviewer paraphrasing or it could be the interviewers interpretation on Sophia's comments, either as its not a direct quote and I don't know what the context is I am taking that part with a whole handful of salt and disregarding it.

What Sophia did say was that sylki is weird because they variants of the same person and also that with everything they have gone through the relationship is complicated. It seems like antis saw the word weird and went oh bad, she must mean she hates them but when you actually look at the definition of the word weird it doesn't necessarily mean something bad. The definition from Cambridge dictionary is: very strange and unusual, unexpected, or not natural. The Merriam-Webster definition is: of strange or extraordinary character, of, relating to, or caused by witchcraft or the supernatural. Which lets be honest fits Sylki, they are unusual, strange, unexpected, extraordinary and you could argue with the whole variant thing its got that supernatural element to it as well. I mean them being weird is what makes them fun and entertaining to watch so honestly I'm not mad that she said they were weird.

Another thing to bear in mind is that we don't know the question that goes with this answer for all we know it could have been a very leading question like don't you think its weird they are both variants of the same person, or what do you think of shipping in general, we don't know so we don't have a whole lot of context even with her direct quote. But to me Sophia's answer just seems to be your standard diplomatic, vague, non-committal answer that most actors give when asked about ships which is I like my character and I want the best for them. Sadly we live in a world now where actors have to be very careful and ambiguous when talking about ships because if they say something that upsets one side they may get sent hate, from what I've heard Sophia has already been sent death threats and had other hate hurled at her so it would make sense to me that she wouldn't want to give anything but vague answers to any questions about ships.

But say Sophia really isn't that into Sylki as a romantic pairing, so what? She's allowed to like or dislike a pairing on a tv show just like anyone else, even if she's playing one half of the pairing. She wouldn't be the first actor to dislike a ship they are a part of or to prefer a different pairing for their character. She's a person like everyone else and she's allowed to have likes and dislikes and her own opinions. But trying to argue that the Sylki ship is dead because Sophia may or may not (seeing as this interview doesn't confirm either way) like the ship is absurd to me. Especially as we've already had the head writer and producer of the show confirm that they are canon and that it was their romance that was driving the show. Seeing as they are the ones that write the show and decides what happens, I think I'm ok if Sophia thinks the ship is weird somehow. Now if the producer of the show said that they didn't intend for my ship to be romantic and wrote them as just friends I might be upset and think my ship was dead. Luckily for me that isn't the case.

The other interview I've seen antis throwing about as evidence that Sophia hates the ship is this one where she is talking about their kiss:

This one just baffles me even more. Personally I just don't understand how someone reads this and jumps to she hates the ship and the ship is dead. They were the ones saying the kiss was nothing but a trick, a distraction. Now here we've got Sophia saying the same thing Sylki shippers were saying which is the kiss was more of a good bye kiss. Honestly I love what she said about how it was a thank you and a good bye, it showed how much of an impact Loki made on her, heartbreakingly though it just wasn't enough to break through that need to complete her mission. To be fair this mission was something that had fuelled her throughout her entire life, that pain and those scars left from HWR and the TVA run too deep, really she needed alot more time with Loki before being able to choose him over that mission, maybe if they had more time together before facing HWR it would have gone differently but sadly we'll never know. Sophia recently said in another interview that there is an unspoken agreement between Sylki that they can't kill each other. Which is what makes this moment so tragically beautiful in a way, she knows she can't let her mission go, but she also knows that he won't let her kill HWR, and she also knows that she can't kill Loki so in her eyes her only option was to push him through that time door. She knows that will break their relationship so she just wants one kiss, one moment to say thank you and to say goodbye. Sorry but this isn't what a dead ship looks like to me. A slightly broken one maybe but not dead.

Ok so this is off topic but its something I am curious about. This is more to do with what I saw in the main Loki tag so unrelated to the antis mis-tagging their hate posts, I don't want to lump regular Loki/mobius shippers in with them. But I saw some posts talking about there being a track named L*kius and some shippers felt they had been baited because there was a track on the official sound track with their ship name but the producers were saying it was meant as a friendship and even I thought that was an odd choice on the Loki teams part, but then I've just been listening to the official soundtrack by Natalie Holt, its as amazing as last seasons by the way so if you get the chance I would recommend checking it out, but there is no track on there with that name. I checked the official track list titles as well and I'm not seeing it. So what happened there, was someone trolling that fandom? In which case not cool, or was it just misinformation that was spread, I'm very confused because there were screenshots that looked legit. Saying that I was listening to an epic cover of the track titled Ascension on the official soundtrack pre-release and they had named it glorious purpose seeing as the official name of the track hadn't been released yet, so maybe this was the same situation? It was just a placeholder name by whoever uploaded it? I never listened to the one with the ship name that was being posted about in the main tag so I am curious as to whether it is a track on the official soundtrack but now has a different name?

So wrapping it up, those are my thoughts on Sophia's interviews, the official soundtrack for season 2 is amazing and everyone should go listen to it and ship whatever you like but please, please can people tag their posts correctly because my finger is starting to ache from constantly hitting the block button.

Norba Shino is the living embodiment of why we care about Tekkadan. Because they are, despite their profession, just as capable of warmth, enthusiasm, care and love as any other bunch of kids. And of being idiots, of being horny, of committing all the mistakes and stupid arguments you'd expect from teenagers.

Which is why it's the right move for him to be the first major casualty as season 2 races towards its inevitable conclusion. All those things -- all that humanity -- leads to Shino's rash attempt to kill Rustal Elion, to him throwing his life away on something that serves very little purpose beyond making everyone feel better about having tried. It's prideful, stupid and reckless, driven by a desperate need to be taken seriously. Everything that makes Tekkadan what it is.

Also he's bi as hell. I adore the great big jug-eared lunk.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: 

Hmm. See, sexually, I could ship Shino with practically anyone. My man is not fussy and he has the kind of personality that could mesh well with most of the cast, frankly. But romance . . . I dunno. I don't actually think, at the point he is in the show itself, Shino is very much capable of romance.

Regardless, current run down of slash-pairings I have written/may write:

My non-romantic OTP for this character: 

Shino and Eugene are best buddies for life. Poly-shipping aside, I see those two as joined at the hip forever, with their friendship long predating Orga and Mika's arrival at the CGS.

And yes, Shino's been winding Eugene all the time they've known each other but 1) Eugene needs people to call him on his ego and 2) the way he's still prepared to be vulnerable around Shino anyway means something, you know?

My unpopular opinion about this character: 

OK, I don't know if this is unpopular, but I stand by the idea Shino is not actually a fundamentally nice person. That is to say, for all he's an unabashed cheerleader for his friends, a walking bear-hug of a personality, and generally quite sweet in his ignorance, he's also completely at home with violent behaviour. Of all the mecha pilots on Tekkadan's side, Shino is the one who most readily gives the impression of *enjoying* the fights. He's eager for it, wants to prove he's capable of winning, and readily lashes out when he's angry. He is, to my mind, very much a product of being socialised in a military setting and has absolutely no issues with solving problems via beating the tar out of them. A hell of a friend to have at your back but you do *not* want to be on his bad side.

Though obviously my actual unpopular opinion is it 100% took him that long to notice Yamagi was into him and didn't consciously consider being attracted to the guy until then. The pining was *never* mutual.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

*stares at the 600,000 words of fanfic predicated on him surviving his suicide run against the Arianrhod Fleet*

No but seriously though, I would have liked his bisexuality to have been referenced outside the context of Yamagi. Like, it is pretty definitively text that Shino *is* bi, I just think it'd have been funny to establish that, no, he's capable of being attracted to other guys, he just genuinely had it fixed in his head that because Tekkadan were family, sex between them was off the table.

I mean it's not like I'm *not* a total sucker for the doomed in-canon pairing, is it?

What I think it is, is that it's established very quickly that Shino sees Yamagi as a friend and respects his abilities. To an extent, he even thinks Yamagi is really cool! Which, well, he thinks that about all his friends, but it establishes Yamagi isn't pining for nothing. This isn't a 'barely knows I exist' kind of crush, it's a 'I cannot spit out what I actually feel despite the fact the other guy likes hanging around with me and is never less than friendly and complementary'. It feels very 'normal teenager' in a way that, similar to Mika/Atra/Kudelia, contrasts poignantly with the situation everyone is in.

But there are also layers to it, or at least enough attendant details that allow for the possibility of layers. Shino has moments suggesting a fatal lack of self-confidence, for all his bigging up Tekkadan as a whole. He doesn't congratulate *himself* much and he reacts really badly to his skills being doubted, and to letting everybody else down. He's also not a pushy person which sits a little strangely with his otherwise loud, extroverted personality: despite having basically had Eugene confirm Yamagi is into him, he still makes space for the whole 'drinking the night away' thing to be an invitation rather than an assumption.

Yamagi, meanwhile, is blatantly not a shy person in general. He explores ideas off his own bat and presents them to Yukinojo, he's in his element ordering Dane and Hush around, and he gets to be a sarcastic little jerk more often than he pours oil on the troubled waters that are Takaki and Ride. Furthermore, while he lets his crush on Shino show blatantly when it can't be seen, his go-to reaction when observed is to become quite curt and cold. Shino jokes that Yamagi is 'scary' and it's clear the kid knows how to make his displeasure known. Plus, of course, Yamagi rejects -- off his own initiative -- a yearning to have died alongside Shino in favour of picking up where he left off, protecting Tekkadan.

There are angles there, is my point, to explore their similarities and to have their differences run counter to assumptions about who they are based on first appearances. I'm too deep into writing my version of this to be be objective any more but I really do think it's interesting to posit that Yamagi has the more durable personality and Shino a far more vulnerable one, ill-equipped to deal with, say, thinking his failure caused all his friends to die.

In the show, they're a could-have-been. They don't get their chance to be together and if they had, and things had generally gone better, it might not actually have lasted. I don't know how well Shino would have done in a first-time relationship after years of growing up too fast, and I don't know if Yamagi would have gotten what he was looking for out of it.

But give it a few years of Yamagi trying to live up to a Shino-shaped hole in the world and of Shino trying (failing) to live with himself over what happened and they become this wonderful, spiky ball of love, trauma and an enthusiastic openness about sex that comes of learning the cost of taking things too slow.

a headcanon fact:

Shino is from a big family. Like, over half a dozen kids stuck in one household with over-worked/struggling/absentee parents. That's why he tends to gravitate towards sharing space with the younger boys: it's what he's used to, since he's played the roll of an additional care-giver from the age of too-flipping-young-to-have-that-kind-of-responsibility. He is *really* good with kids, albeit more in a 'on their wavelength' kind of way than actually being anything like a responsible adult.

This is not the tragic part, at least not dramatically so since this is probably the case for a not- insignificant fraction of the Third Group. No, the kicker is that one day Shino's family upped and disappeared and he has absolutely no idea what happened to them. He was off earning money at the CGS and then the next time he went home, the building had been entirely cleared out.

He never talks about it.

After I was clean, Daryl balled up the washcloth, tossing it on the edge of the sink and handing my glasses back to me. I blew a small accumulation of dust off the lenses before putting them back on, adjusting them on my nose and blinking away more tears. He moved from being down on one knee to two and hugged me, resting his head in the crook of my neck. His warm breath tickled my sensitive skin. I combed one hand up the back of his head and the other down his back.

"Thank you for that," I said, twisting my fingers in his hair, "I don't know what else to say. That might be the most considerate thing anyone's ever done for me."

"Ya mean a lot to me. Wanna make sure you're taken care of." He gave me a gentle squeeze before letting go and placing his hands on my hips. "Told Rick I ain't doin' watch tonight. It's just you and me."

I anxiously bounced my leg. "Can I ask what you told Rick happened?"

"Said ya had a close call, was real shaken," he explained, "said I'd keep ya company. He said to make sure ya's ok." He put a hand on my knee to stop my leg from bouncing, stroking it delicately with his thumb. "Told me to tell ya we all know how scary a close call can be and he's sorry." Poor Rick didn't know the actualities of the situation, but I appreciated his empathy.

"I just don't want to be a burden," I sighed, biting the inside of my lower lip.

"Ain't never a burden," Daryl reassured, "now whadaya need? Ya hungry at all?" I'd been starving since before we'd finished hunting practice, so while I was absolutely ravenous, food was one of the last things on my mind.

"I mean a little, but I mostly just wanna curl up into a ball and die."

"Let's fix that then." He took my hands and helped me up, keeping one hand in his as he guided us into the hall, stopping outside my bedroom door.

"I think there's a can of soup around here somewhere. That sounds nice," I said.

"Ya wanna drink it?" he asked.

"Yeah," I replied, looking down at my feet and half-smiling as I turned red. Anytime I'd had soup, I always drank it out of a mug rather than using a bowl and spoon. In my opinion, it was the superior way to consume soup, and Daryl had poked fun at me for it on more than one occasion. Though he would drink it straight out of the can, so I don't know who he thought he was poking fun at me for the way I drank my soup.

He delicately placed his fingers under my chin and lifted my head to kiss my forehead, positioning his other hand on my hip. I closed my eyes as he rested his nose against my forehead, and the half-smile on my face turned into a full one. "You got it." Those little, familiar electric sparks lingered on my skin as he pulled away.

I went into my room and found a clean pair of shorts and t-shirt to change into. After changing, I collapsed back onto my bed and brought my pillow to my chest, hugging it tight. The tears returned once again, flowing down the sides of my face like waterfalls and draining into my ears and onto the sheets below me. I took my glasses off and set them on my nightstand. Staring up at the ceiling, my mind began to wander. I thought about what would've happened if I hadn't told Daryl about my history before we encountered him. How humiliated I would've felt to have Daryl hear about what happened from the mouth of the man who did it himself. And how disgusted I felt knowing that what Adam did to me happened more than once, based on his "fun times" comment.

I pressed my pillow around my face as tight as I could and screamed into it, letting out even more pent-up anger and pain than I thought I had. My emotions were running wild. I had faced my past, acknowledged it, and talked about it for the first time ever. I had faced the man who did it, had to listen to him taunt me about what he did to me. And I had taken a life, purposely. How many walkers had I killed? More than I could count. How many people had I killed? The answer was now 1.

When I was first dealing with the aftermath of the feelings from my assault, the pain came first. The unimaginable pain of reliving that horror every night, over and over and over again. The pain of not even being able to look at myself in the mirror. The pain of holding it all in, even as it tried to bubble over and spill out of me. Even when I felt like a shaken bottle of soda, fizzing out at the edges and on the verge of blowing my lid off, I held it all in. And the pain of finally exploding.

Then came the anger.

The anger for what he did to me. For him targeting someone in that way. For traumatizing me in a way to where I couldn't even look at myself naked without spiraling into a panic attack, to where I may never be able to experience the man I'd fallen in love with in the most intimate way possible. The anger at myself for not ignoring that gut feeling I had when he first ran out of those woods screaming for help. For not killing him right then and there when I woke up on that cold barn floor. For holding it in for so long that I almost gave myself alcohol poisoning just to cope. For freezing when we found him out on that dirt road and letting him taunt me as long as he did before finally killing him. Though it needed to be done, I was angry at myself for taking a life. And as silly as it sounded, I was angry at myself for not knowing what really happened, despite that being out of my control.

I threw my pillow back over my head and rolled over onto my side, facing the door. I folded my arms underneath my head and buried my face in them, tears flowing down over them as I continued crying. I heard Daryl come in a few minutes later and walk around to my side of the bed, setting a mug down on my nightstand next to my glasses.

"Careful, it's hot," he warned.

"Thanks," I mumbled. He stepped around to the other side, and I felt his weight move onto the bed next to me, moving closer to me before adjusting himself to get comfortable.

"I'm sorry ya had to see him again. Can't imagine how scary that was. 'Specially after thinkin' he'd been dead this whole time." I peeked out from over my arms, and Daryl brushed some hair out of my face, taking his sweet time tucking it behind my ear like he always did. "I'da killed him if ya didn't. Ain't no way he was gettin' outta there alive." I blinked a few times before looking at him. He'd laid down on his side next to me, facing me and using his other arm to hold his head up.

"It's not just that," I whispered, tears beginning to flow freely once again, "he said 'fun times we had together.' Times. Like more than once." My hands balled up into fists, nails digging into my palms in an attempt to feel anything other than the overwhelming humiliation and disgust inside me. "I really have no idea what happened. And there aren't words for how horrifying that feels."

My nightmares were heaven compared to this. At least when I was stuck in my head, I knew what to expect. It was the same thing, again and again and again. But now my mind was free to wander, following every dark thought to its abysmal and terrifying conclusion.

I began to sob openly into my arms, my skin and the pillowcase below me quickly becoming soaked with salty tears. I dug my nails into my palms as hard as I could, and I was almost certain I would break skin. I wanted to sink down into the bed and become one with it. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. I was so ashamed, I didn't even want Daryl looking at me. Embarrassment and I had become well acquainted.

"I don't know what happened," I cried, my words coming out broken through hitched sobs, "I don't know what he did. I don't know how many times he did it. I have this gigantic, empty gap of time. Who knows how big that actually is. I—I—...I..." I began to hyperventilate and cry so hard that I started shaking.

"Hey, you're ok," Daryl assured, "c'mere." He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me by the waist, bringing me as close to him as possible, and wrapped his other arm around me, snaking it up my back and twirling his fingers in my hair. I buried my face in his shirt and continued to hyperventilate. I was confident I would pass out. "Just breathe. You're ok."

He held me for a very, very long time, letting me shake and sob into his chest without so much as a flinch from him. He alternated between petting my head, running his hand down my back, and gently massaging my scalp with his fingers. He offered words of comfort, reminding me to just breathe, that I was safe, and he was there. I now saw why he had that vest on all the time. This man was a goddamn angel.

There were so many emotions coursing through me that it was overstimulating. The pain, the shame, the guilt, the relief, and the white-hot anger all bubbling right under the surface made my skin tingle like it was on fire. I felt so small and insignificant, and my entire body hurt, inside and out. The pain was excruciating, but the humiliation was worse. Being nestled in Daryl's arms provided some comfort for my spiraling mind.

"I'm so fucking embarrassed," I croaked, taking Daryl's shirt and balling it in my hands, pressing it to my face in some pathetic attempt to hide myself.

"Don't got nothin' to be embarrassed about." He had the most soothing voice. It was silky and sweet, like honey, and also rough and rocky, like gravel. It oozed comfort. "You're ok. Just focus on breathin'."

After what felt like hours, the hyperventilating stopped, and my sobbing subsided a bit. Now it was just soft crying as opposed to full-on broken sobs. I picked my head up and poked it out from the little cave of safety that Daryl had made with his arms. He looked down at me, giving me a soft, tender kiss on the forehead and a gentle squeeze. I squeezed my eyes shut again, the bright light of the ceiling lamp nearly blinding my dilated pupils.

"Fuck," I groaned, turning over onto my back and putting my arm over my face, "could you turn the light off?"

"Sure can." He rolled over and out of bed, flipping the switch off before plopping back down next to me, laying on his side and propping his head up with his elbow. He took my hand in his other one and interlocked our fingers.

"Think I know the answer, but how ya feelin'?" he inquired. I wiped my cheeks with my hand.

"Honestly, I feel overwhelmed by how many different things I'm feeling. I'm relieved because I know he's gone now, and he can't hurt me or anyone else ever again. I'm relieved he never made it to Alexandria. I don't want to think about what would've happened if he made it here. Mostly though, I'm just so unbelievably angry." I looked past Daryl at the wall behind him and wiggled my toes to try to relieve some anxious energy. "At him...at myself."

"Whadaya angry at yourself for?"

"For a lot of things. Right now, it's mostly because I killed someone. The only thing that makes me feel better about it is that it wasn't just anyone. I killed the man who..." My sentence trailed off, and I dropped my eyes to the bed. I couldn't even say the word. "Ruined me."

"Ya ain't ruined. You're..." He paused, and I brought my eyes back to meet his while he searched for his words. "You're still you. You're a good person. Argue one o' the best I ever met. Compassionate, honest, trustworthy. Goofy as hell." I stifled a laugh and playfully elbowed him in the arm. "You're one of the good things left."

The butterflies in my stomach kicked into high gear, and my heart was pounding against my ribcage. I was quickly turning bright red, and I averted my eyes from his for just a moment. It was nearly impossible for me to maintain eye contact with him when I was blushing. "You make me feel special, Daryl."

"'Cause ya are. Real special to me." He released my hand and draped his arm over my waist, gripping his fingers around my side and rolling me over, pulling me against him. I let out a tiny yelp in surprise, followed by a soft giggle. I put my arm under my head to use as a pillow, and he kissed the tip of my nose before doing the same. "Ya remember the first time I asked why ya go by Vector? When we was gettin' back from our first run together?" he asked. I nodded. "Can't help but notice ya been doin' all the things ya said ya hadn't done since before it happened."

Thinking back to that day, I realized that Daryl was right. All the things I'd talked about—singing in the shower, wearing sundresses, dancing in the street, picking flowers on walks, smiling with my teeth out—were things that were quintessentially me that I had, in fact, started doing again since arriving at Alexandria. Slowly, over time, amongst all the trauma and the nightmares and the bullshit, Lydia was creeping her way back out. She wasn't dead after all. She never was. She was always there.

She was hiding in the shadows, waiting until it was safe once again to reappear. And found that safety I did, both in the form of a place, but more importantly, in the form of a person.

"You remember all of those?" Of course he did. The man clung for dear life to every word I said.

"Sure do," he replied, "remember a lotta things ya said."

"Oh yeah? What else do you remember?" I wondered. He pursed his lips and averted his gaze, looking past me out the window. His stoic expression broken when a half-smile emerged on his face.

"Remember the embarrassing story ya told me. 'Bout the spaghetti on a date," he teased. I sighed and rolled my eyes so far back into my head, I could see my brain.

"You promised never to bring that up again," I scolded, giving him a playful flick on the tip of his cute little button nose.

"You're the one that asked," he defended.

"Anyway, you're right," I agreed, taking the conversation back to Daryl's initial commentary, "I have been doing those things again. Feels good to realize that. Feels good to know that..." I briefly paused, "Lydia's been in there the whole time." My name still sounded foreign to me, but less so, though saying it still left a bitter taste on my tongue.

"See? You're still you," he reassured. He moved some hair out of my eyes and stroked my jawline as he brought his hand down before taking mine in his.

"Speaking of past runs, do you remember how much you didn't want me to come on that first one?" I recollected, "funny to think about now considering where we're at." Daryl pursed his lips again and looked down like he was deep in thought.

"Wanna apologize to ya," he said. I cocked an eyebrow at him.

"For what?" I asked, taking his face in my hand and lightly scratching his facial hair. He didn't have a full beard, so I wouldn't call it a beard scratch, but next to back scratches, it was Daryl's favorite.

"Wasn't very nice to ya when ya got here. Still think 'bout it sometimes," he elaborated.

"Aww, it's ok," I assured, "that was months ago. Clearly, we're good now." I snickered a little. "You're lucky everyone repeatedly told me not to take anything personally. Maggie especially. They all assured me that you'd eventually warm up and come around." And warm up and come around he sure did, but not in the way any of them were probably expecting.

"Guess I gotta thank 'em." He brought his hand up to pet my head, combing his fingers through my hair as he did. "Think that second run we went on to get Aaron's foot is my favorite."

"Why's that?"

"Ya's so damn persistent 'bout gettin' to know me," he remembered, "I know I's stubborn as hell, but it was nice."

"I knew you liked it!" I exclaimed, poking him playfully in the chest.

"Also remember ya tellin' me how handsome ya thought I was," he recollected, his cheeks turning that sweet faint shade of baby pink. With regards to my favorite color, blue was starting to have some competition.

Christ, I thought, he probably remembers me saying I could kiss him when he was holding my hair back when I puked.

"I remember a lot of things you've said too," I echoed.

"Oh yeah? Like what?" he wondered. He continued to comb his hand through my hair, massaging my scalp ever so lightly as he did. It was euphoric.

"Like the first time you called me pretty," I explained, blushing at the memory and all of the feelings that came after. I giggled a little as another memory came to mind. "And the second night I was here, when I got a lil' wine drunk & was trying to go upstairs, you said to be careful because I could slip and, quote, "I ain't cleanin' that up.""

"Can I share somethin' 'bout that night?" Daryl wondered, and I nodded, "had to stop myself from offerin' to carry ya upstairs. Didn't wanna make ya uncomfortable since we hardly knew each other."

Though he'd never say it about himself, Daryl was such a gentleman, and it had me swooning hard. It was so cute, I was sure I would combust.

I think people in this fandom are a bit too much confortable with the “its a medieval fantasy fiction, people were misogynistic in that time therefor I can be misogynistic when I’m talking about the story too.”

It’s like the whole “both side are wrong, yes even Rhaenyra because she a woman and women were not seen as equally worthy in that time” ok but you are not suppose to be agree with that ?!

If we’re supposed to view it the same way a Westerosi person would then Arya just need to be beaten into liking traditionally feminine things, Sam deserved being dressed in womens clothes/regularly beaten/forced to sleep in chainmail at age 6/tied to a stable by the neck for three days to toughen him up, Tyrion deserves the lifetime of abuse he’s gotten because he’s a dwarf, and Daenerys deserved to be raped to the point of suicidal ideation because that’s her duty as a wife and there is no concept of marital rape in this world. Do these things all sound horrific ? Well maybe that’s because the author intended for us to view it with a modern lens.

Well yes, I think that GRRM makes it very clear the things that can't and should not occur and are entirely preventable in the world with some willed investment when it comes to more unsavory features of this world, like Craster, the collective unchecked access and trafficking to human bodies esp female ones of any age...AND

It's not absolute and applicable everywhere, because people also will take it to important functional aspects and conditions and accuse some characters of being something they aren't. The very meaning of "modern lens-seeing" is...loose in the fandom.

In a "pure" modern lens (assuming American/US b that's the targeted audience) where minors are under-18s who are to be protected no-matter what, we see people making snap judgements of decisions like Dany ruling that people under 13 or so should not be killed and some readers (wrongly) take that as her being deliberately evil or at least gravely irresponsible. GRRM also has a 16 year old get into a canonical love match with a married father of two and then die from childbirth and has multiple first-cousin, avunculate, and stepmother-stepson (F&B), sibling-incestuous relationships be also romantic/true "love"/care while other incestuous pairings...aren't. Then there are couples like Dany and Daario, where Dany is still a teenaged girl with a grown man, but we don't really see her terribly affected by such a thing in-world in-text or people could argue that Dany is abusing her power over Daario (I know it's wrong, walk with me); in fact, it's been more of a boon even though the guy clearly doesn't actually love her. There's Dany and Irri, who multiple readers (wrongly, but that's not the point) claim that this sexual relationship was indicative of Dany abusing her power over Irri and yada, yada, from a "modern lens". And by a modern lens, all these relationships are seen as anything from pretty impossible to doomed to be abusive and provide no succor to anyone. There are those who misconstrue Westerosi racial circumstances as exactly as modern Westerns, who racialize characters through the one-drop or whatever British thing to identify characters who they might at first see as PoC, and thus assume a husband cheats on his wife bc she's Dornish.

I know what you mean by "looking at things from a modern lens", you're saying that there are morally rehensible things that happen in this world that GRRM takes pains to point out as reprehensible and needing changing. but a lot of people take "modern lens" to mean "everything from our real modern [Western] world in terms of values, regulations of behavior whether legally or socially are in better shape, more sensical than this world because it allows for [insert gross, unsavory, legal, anti-human right thing here], and those that even resemble that". Jorah is def a perverted vulnerable young girl-"lover" who merely wished to have control over a victim; does that man the same for Larra Rogare?

So, we are supposed to critique the:

sexist systems guiding marriage and child rearing that allows a man so much power over his wife and children's bodies, thus minds

the institutions of the Faith, R'hollor's leaders, etc. and hypocritical aspects of their current or enduring ideology

slavery, obviously

some character's more selfish decisions that end up getting a mass amount of people killed just so they have power....

but these "macro" stuff will sometimes yield "micro" morally questionable or grey-to-greyblack areas from characters, or it's easy to get something actually necessary for a character's/others' survival (mental/) misconstrued the characters being...grossly evil.

Idk if I'm explaining it right, but in GRRM's writing he makes it very clear what is morally rehensible, but we have people who want to immediately assign "evil" and "good" based on merely "it's wrong in my world, so its' wrong here and anyone who participates are either victims or evil". And that's not really helpful when understanding the story. It's not just stupid people, it's also pretty smart people who simply prefer stories where they don't have to experience this level of nonmatched, fraught morality.
