one thing I really really appreciate abt riz gukgak as a character is that he is un-self-aware to the max. he inhabits his body so completely. the arc that would usually be run as "I'm different and unable to connect with my friends in this way that everyone seems to be able to do and so something's wrong with me and I don't like myself" when it comes to riz is actually like no! I have literally no problems or praises for myself personally. I don't stand outside of my own self and judge it. it's phrased as "other people will eventually find someone more important to them than you" rather than centering it on his self-perception. he doesn't know why he doesn't have the best social life on earth even though he's not afraid at all to talk to other people. every time he sees himself in someone else's actions or behaviour he gets startled by it. his latest epilogue is realizing seemingly for the first time that he's not just an agent of causes but an actual character. he's my hero and I want to be him when I grow up

You know, I feel like other trans people might get this, but it's honestly kind of refreshing when a cis person has, like, undeniable tboy/tgirl/whatever swag. It's like when you come across somebody who speaks the same language as you and you only find out when they start speaking it, too.

In the end, you and all the other fans are together in loving and supporting a piece of work. If somebody enjoys the content in a way you personally don't want to see, simply block and move on! The only "wrong" way to be a fan is to be one who is malicious and hurtful to others and to real people.

"you're staring," audrey says directly into his ear, deadpan, knocking the empty bottle of tequila into his shoulder.

al barely hears her over the throb of the music, but registers enough to know he's being made fun of. he feels heat rising to his face. blinks, for what feels like the first time in a minute.

the girl from the colosseum, the champion, is on the other end of the room. she's at least two heads taller than the gaggle of denizens around her; this, and the way her long hair whips around her face and shimmers in the shifting light of the dance floor makes it easy to stare. she's dancing, laughing, occasionally holding a conversation. she moves with the easy fluidity of a fighter or a gymnast, but positions her limbs like she isn't afraid to take up space. like she belongs here. like she fills the space she's in with intention.

al has no idea how long he's been watching her. he's felt somewhere to the left of himself for the brunt of it. but he'd probably be staring anyway, even if he wasn't half-dissociated. he hadn't noticed in the colosseum - there were too many things happening all at once - but this girl? the one who turned into a bear and a deer-thing and nearly eviscerated trish? she might be one of the prettiest girls he's ever seen.

that could also be the tequila talking. maybe. he does still have a buzz going.

"you should go dance with her," audrey yells, so close to his face that al can smell the alcohol on her breath.

"what? no!" he yells back. "why?"

"if you don't, i will," she says, tipping her chin up, half-serious-half-kidding.

"okay," al says, immediately pleased to take the out. "have fun."

"dude," audrey says. she doesn't need to elaborate. just the one word, accompanied by a hard shove to al's back, convey all the exasperation she needs to get across.

al yelps, very nearly tripping over his own feet. "i don't even know her name!"

"SO GO ASK HER," audrey shouts, so loud that some of the denizens near them hear it and turn their heads. the corner of the tequila bottle jabs against his spine.

al feels vaguely nauseous. there's no way to tell if it's all the shots or just the mortification creeping its way up his throat; he's a lot of things, but he is not a person who flirts. or a person who approaches girls with that kind of intent. still, he has the sense audrey might not let him live down anything less than a mission accomplished, and that's enough to make him stumble forwards.

if he embarrasses himself enough, he can only hope she'll come bail him out. since they're friends now. friends do that kind of thing, right?

Something about the way Spinel, Friede and Liko's first Pokemon all share (or will share) the Dark type under certain circumstances (Spinel's Blacky being Dark type, Friede's Lizardon becoming Dark type upon Terastalization, and Liko's Nyarote will eventually gain the Dark type if it evolves into Masquernya). And how all three of them craft strategies around diversions, creating distractions, observations and running away.

Also thinking about how Spinel's Orbem is a Psychic type, similarly to Liko's Tebrim. Psychic moves being used to restrain or limit movements, or stop opponent's moves and use them against them. (Liko's Tebrim using her Mind Power during the battle against Grusha to stop her opponent's Icicle Spears and send them right back at it really reminded me of Spinel using his Orbem's Psychic moves to restrain Friede's Lizardon's movements back in HZ014.)

I am BAMBOOZLED by the theory that Anakin was mind-controlled by Palpatine, honestly, and it's literally everywhere. The whole story falls apart if Anakin isn't a selfish, greedy, powerhungry fascist. Like this is literally the CORE of Anakin's story, that he's selfish and greedy and lusts for power over others. Just because he's a sweet 9 year old doesn't mean he can't grow up into a nightmare. How many times have you watched the news after someone commits a terrible crime and their parents are sobbing that they never saw this coming, he was such a sweet little boy, etc etc. People grow up, and kids who have a rosy view of the world grow up to be not such nice people anymore. It happens. Anakin's a piece of shit, so stop taking the fascism out of him, it's essential to the entire franchise.

Hey I was stalking ur page just now and tripped over the “dick and tim and food” posts and it made me think of how, during the “Robin in keystone city” arc, pizza is brought up at least twice, and both times tim specified that he doesn’t want pineapple on the pizza. BUT iirc tim normally enjoys or at the very least tolerates pineapple on pizza, and I wanted to know if you thought maybe tim was avoiding pineapple pizza bc it’s a tim and dick thing for him and he’d miss his brother or something

Going to forever keep advertising my shit with tropes because do I have to? No. Am I too "stupid" to do it another way? No, not really. And as you've all seen, I also am perfectly capable of writing real blurbs and do write real blurbs. But I think it's fun to make the pic with the tropes anyway and have that around too. And also it keeps the pretentious people away. The sort who don't understand reading is not always for taking a "discomfort" vitamin because they A) are privileged enough to not have discomfort every day of their life to need to escape from or B) are fresh out of college and haven't discovered the joys of/have been shamed OUT of reading as a fun low pressure thing they can do to escape when they're fucking tired (and they think this sort of thing is new with fanfic and not more or less how "trash" lit like romance novels are marketed), as opposed to reading as some sort of Moral Duty To Be Deep that was instilled in them by a middle aged straight white English professor who thinks one can fulfill this by writing 10 pages about books where people scream at each other, have affairs with young women, or Make Up A Guy to warn people about things that Could Happen (that *cough* already happen to marginalized people *cough*) Anyway it's my version of a scarecrow.
