Oshi no Ko 150: Mistranslation or Miscommunication?
Something I was surprised to see in the aftermath of OnK 150 were accusations from the English fanbase that the chapter had been mistranslated or that the content of it had been misrepresented somehow. I fully admit that I was extremely skeptical of this assertion when I first saw it crop up given but MangaPlus's translations do have an unfortunate habit of flubbing minor details in places that do lead to pretty major cascading errors with the English script. It's possible it could have happened, especially in a chapter operating on dream logic as this one does, so I decided to take a look at the JP text myself and see if this was the case. And what I took away was… no, the English translation is more or less fine. A bit stiff but nothing has been lost or changed from the original text. But since there seems to be a lot of misinfo on this topic going around and I have nothing better to do on a Friday morning I guess, I thought I'd do my best to clear some of it up.
First of all: credentials, I guess? I'm the translator of 45510 and Viewpoint B and I was also part of the team working on Spica, The First Star where I contributed translation efforts as well. Basically I just want to assure folks that I'm not pulling this stuff out of my ass lol
Also apologies that some of these caps from the manga are fucking shmeared with Vaseline, tracking down the JP raws in decent quality was a fucking nightmare this time around for some reason. Anyway!
Black Eyes
The first major point of confusion seems to surround a line from Gorou at the start of page seven, while warning Aqua off from 'Sarina'.
「俺の目が黒い内はさりなちゃんに手ぇ出させねえ からな?」
In initial TLs, this line was translated literally and rendered as "You're not allowed to touch Sarina while your eyes are black!" which immediately caused a flurry of speculation among fans that this was a lore drop, meant to indicate that Aqua was 'not allowed' to be in a relationship with Ruby so long as he had his black hoshigans on - and thus, pursuing a relationship with her would restore them to white. When this line was rendered as "I won't let you make a move on Sarina-chan for as long as I live!" in the official TL, a lot of people assumed this was a mistake or an active omission on the part of MangaPlus. I regret to inform everyone that there was a mistranslation here… but uh, it wasn't MangaPlus!
First of all, Gorou is referring to his own eyes, not Aqua's - and furthermore, he's actually using a euphemistic idiom in the vein of 'over my dead body' or 'when hell freezes over'. There is a bit of missing subtext here in that Gorou is specifically expressing a sort of paternalistic expression and the obvious visual pun of Aqua's black hoshigans but MangaPlus's line gets at what Gorou is actually saying here. So no, unless Akasaka is playing a Ryukishi07 Umineko tier wordplay foreshadowing trick on us, I think we can take this at face value as just a brief gag.
'Good Enough'?
Another point of contention from this same page is a seemingly minor note of potential ambiguity with regards to Aqua's feelings for Ruby. When discussing their relationship at Gorou's prompting, Aqua states that Ruby is 'his precious little sister' with the following phrasing:
「世界でたった一人の大切な妹。それだけで良い。」
MangaPlus renders the 「それだけで良い。」 part of this line as "That's all that matters". Pretty much since the moment this chapter dropped, I've seen people insist that this is a mistranslation and that initial pre-official TLs of "That's good enough for me" are more accurate - that there is some sense of 'settling' or resignation on Aqua's part, that he does want to be with Ruby but he'll settle for being her brother and that the official TL erases this nuance.
My take on this is… eh. That's kind of a stretch.
Obviously, context is everything but if that sense of 'settling for good enough' is what Akasaka was wanting to convey, 「それだけで良い。」 feels off to me - I would say that 「それで十分だ。」 would be a much more natural choice of words and in fact, we already have at least once instance of this phrasing being used in OnK to express a similar sentiment and being rendered similarly in official TLs as "That by itself is enough."
When it comes to 「それだけで良い。」, "that's good enough" is a perfectly fine TL for it… but so is "that's all that matters", honestly! Depending on context, anything from "That's all there is to it", "That's plenty by itself", "That's all I want" or even "Just that is enough" are all perfectly fine ways to render this idea in English and I don't think the official TL is missing any nuance not suggested by the art. If I can be frank, this attachment to the 'good enough' phrasing in the English seems to come from this being the wording that was initially used by leakers and that it is just slightly more favorable to Ruby in terms of potential to be an endgame heroine.
The Japanese text is just as favorable or unfavorable to Ruby as the official TL is and any ambiguities in that regard exist in both versions of the text. Do with that as you will.
Tensing Up
This is moreso something I've see on Twitter as opposed to the sub but I thought it was worth addressing: when discussing Aqua's supposed feelings for Kana, Gorou phrases it as such:
「星野アクアとして、思春期らしい年相応の恋愛感情を抱えていた。」
MangaPlus translates this as "As Aqua Hoshino, you have romantic feelings that are appropriate to your age as an adolescent." This is pretty much exactly as he phrases things in Japanese (i.e, he specifically says 恋愛感情 renai kanjou, romantic feelings not just vaguely defined 'love'), but the point of contention sees to be whether this is still the case and that Gorou was specifically talking in the past tense about something that is no longer the case.
This is actually the opposite of what Gorou is saying here: in the part of the sentence that refers to Aqua having these feelings, Gorou uses the phrasing of 抱えていた, which indicates that this state or action is present tense and ongoing.
If I can speculate, this insistence on past tense phrasing seems to come from the fact that feeding Gorou's original line into MTLs such as Google Translate or DeepL returns this past tense phrasing… oops lol.
Bits and Bobs
Just some smaller bits of confusion I've seen floating around that didn't really warrant their own sections…
There seems to be this weird misinfo scrap going around that Aqua switches to referring to himself as 「僕」 (boku) as his first person pronoun after waking from his dream as opposed to 「俺」 (ore), which is what he'd been using in his dream and what Gorou had been using too - thus implying that 「僕」 (boku) is Aqua's 'true self' with no Gorou influence. This… uh, is flatly not the case! Putting aside that Aqua doesn't say anything at all after waking up, (I FUCKED UP, YES HE DOES SAY SOMETHING AND DOES SWITCH TO BOKU, I'M SORRYYYYYYYY) codeswitching between 'boku' and 'ore' as a first person pronoun is not super uncommon and is more to do with context and politeness than anything else - 'boku' is more polite and more appropriate for formal environments whereas 'ore' is always informal. You might switch back and forth between the two depending on who you're talking to - busting out an 'ore' at work would be like going "hey boss, ya boy just finished those financial reports, bitch" so…!
In addition, Aqua has used 'boku' before when distinguishing between "the reincarnator" and "the identity of Aqua Hoshino", so until we see the next chapter and get more Aqua dialogue, I don't know to what degree (if any!) it indicates about pronoun usage differentiating between Gorou and Aqua.
The other bit of discussion I've seen as pertains to the translation is whether Kana's line in the final page - translated by MangaPlus as 'I'm seriously in love' - was a reference to LoveNow's title or if she used the word 'gachikoi' there in Japanese as Ruby does in 143. The answer to both of those is a resounding 'nope'. Kana's line in that final page is 「私は本気の恋をしている。」, while LoveNow's Japanese title is 「今からガチ恋始めます」. Specifically, Kana describes her feelings as 本気の恋 (honki no koi), i.e, seriously, earnestly, truly in love, whereas both LoveNow and Ruby use the term ガチ恋 (gachikoi), a slang term referring to a fan who considers themselves to be legitimately in romantic love with a celebrity/idol/etc. Gachikoi is also how the first generation of B-Komachi are described in both Viewpoint B and 45510 in the original Japanese text.
Shakers of Salt
This is pretty much everything I saw floating around and I am not personally super interested in litigating every line of text in this chapter, BUT - if there's anything you feel was confusing about this chapter's TL in particular or anything that felt off or crunchy, I'd be happy to clarify stuff in the comments!
Ultimately my motivation here was to sooth the itch triggered by seeing my pet peeve pop up, which is people spreading misinfo about the original language text of a work lol. As I said up top, I was immediately skeptical once claims like this started popping up because "actually, this was mistranslated and the original Japanese text just so happens to word for word support my argument actually" is a song and dance I've done a whole lot of times before. I did my time in the Persona fandom, I'm not going back to this!!!
That being said: absolutely fact check me on this! If any of this smells stinky to you, get a second, third and fourth opinion from other parties, do your own research and come to your own conclusions. "People in fandoms will misrepresent the original language text of a work to support their agendas" is not something I am exempt from just because I have done my own translations and the last thing I want is to inadvertently perpetuate bullshit about a language or culture that is not mine. If you take anything from this, it's to do your own research and ultimately see where you come down on this sort of thing.

The Heathen and the Christian
Ivar the boneless x reader ( OC)
Word count: 3401
SUMMARY:When a young anglo-saxon meets Ivar in the woods, she thinks he is a nice innocent boy, only to be shocked when she finds out who he REALLY is and what he is capable of.
A/N:This is my 2nd time writing with Vikings. I hope yall like it. I am also apologizing for (possible) mistranslations of irish and icelandic. I might do a part two to this series cuz i like how its going. Also not readproof
1-Oh Cernunnos god of the forest bless me and guide me.
2- WAIT
3-That one is mine
4- Do that again and you`re dead
Wandering the woods at this time of the year, gave any passer-by a spectacular and magical scenery. The rays of sunshine were breaking through the branches, illuminating the forest in the most wonderful ways. Summer was without a doubt the best time of the year. The weather was finally favorable for farmers, crops were flourishing and nature was thriving. But there was a downside to it. This season naturally brought along raiding parties coming from the north, with the intention of pillaging and eradicating every village in sight of any gold or treasure.
Villagers were adivsed to be extremely wary of their surroundings, and in case of any suspicious sighting to report to the guards.
Walking out of the small one-room cottage, Frigyth took her woven basket, hanging it on her left arm and took steady steps towards the neighboring woods that surrounded her village. She was a young maiden, '' ready to be married'' according to her parents, who took her tasks very lightly. She came from a typical peasant family, with three other sisters and one brother. She was at that age where she cared more about enjoying life than actually being helpful around the house.
She begged her mother days in a row to let her go harvest some berries from the woods, seeing as that was her only opportunity to explore nature and relax a tad bit. She took her already forming path that led her into a meadow, hidden from view by some on-growing bushes. She found a larger boulder, and took a seat in a dent, placing her basket next to her. She had plenty of time to finish her task, she thought, so for now she could enjoy a little bit of warmth.
Clasping her hands in a prayer-way, she took a glance around her, making sure she was alone, and started chanting an old prayer she used to hear as a child from her grandmother.
Ó Cernunnos Dia na foraoise
beannaigh dom agus treoraigh
mé tríd an bhforaois...
From a small distance, the prayer spoken by the girl was heard by a trespasser, that was lurking around in the woods seeking some alone time. Instead, the stranger took a detour and followed the voice, leading him into the hidden meadow. upon his arrival, he analyzed the young lady up closely, noticing how she had her eyes closed, and was in a vulnerable state. It would`ve been very easy for the young Viking leader to take his dagger out and kill her on the spot, which was what he should be doing, otherwise he risked getting noticed by the saxon girl, who in return would alert the whole village of the presence of Vikings.
Or perhaps he could kidnap her, get any valuable information out of her and THEN kill her. That seemed like a better idea.
The warrior got lost in his thoughts for a few moments that only when he heard the girl gasp did he snap back to the current situation he was in. The young woman that was not so long ago sat in a peaceful position was now standing up, grabbing her basket in front of her, as if she thought it would protect her from the unknown boy. You did not need to be a schooled noble to notice that the stranger`s attire was different from the regular anglo-saxon clothing, and the weapons well secured around the belt hugging his waist were a big tell-tale sign that she had just ran face to face with a Viking.
Frigyth was not sure what she could possibly do to escape this situation. If she ran, would she meet other Vikings? Or perhaps if she yelled for help, the barbarians would much faster come in to the aid of the mysterious boy and do her in. Her mind along with her heart were racing, blood pulsing through her whole body, as if it was preparing for whatever would happen next. Feeling a giddy feeling in her stomach, she spotted her way out, then she got into a running position, one leg in front of the other, slightly leaning on it and being ready to sprint at any given time.
The Viking however, seemed too lost in his tracks to think of what he should do to her. He was observing her. Long, curly hair, with a vibrant color that glimmered in the sun. He felt sort of... entranced by her?
Before he let her go, he wolf whistled at her, gaining her attention. '' I am Ivar.'' He spoke in a very thick anglo-saxon accent. Frigyth did a double-take, not being sure she actually heard him speaking in HER language. While on the outside she remained frozen, her mind was filled with multiple questions. Probably because she has never heard foreigners speak her language- or because she has never faced a norman before.
'' What is your name?'' Asked the Viking in an iritated tone. The young girl was not sure it was a good idea to tell divulge her full identity. But realizing she had no other choice, she defeteadly answered.
'' Frigyth.'' It was a simple and short answer, for which she hoped it would suffice. But by the looks on the warrior, he smirked slowly at her, watching with predator eyes as she was shifting uncomfortably her weight from one foot to the other.
'' What was that prayer you were saying earlier? It did not sound like your language.'' The maiden`s heart started beating at an alarming rate. Deep down she knew, that the prayer she was chanting earlier was considered heresy and it was forbidden among the christians. But it`s not like him, a Viking, would go and tell on her to a guard. After all, weren`t they pagans as well?
'' It`s an ancient language. I was praying to Cernunnos, the god of the forest, fertility. I- It`s forbidden to pray to any other god other than the One True God. But my grandmother used to tell me that the old Gods never left and are ever present.'' She finished, admitting what has been laying in her heart for many years, sighing in happiness when she mentioned her grandmother.
To say Ivar was shocked at the newfound information was an understatement. In all his life, he had never encountered a christian praying to a different deity. He was getting more and more intrigued by the girl, and the logical part of his brain that was constantly nudging him to kill her was shutting down completely.
The young leader-who had previously found a good sitting spot on the grass- nudged his head towards the empty place next to him, indicating to her to take a seat. With careful, calculated steps, she approached him, leaving a few centimetres between them, just in case he was going to strangle her, or who knows what else.
'' So... tell me...'' He trailed off, in hopes that the girl would tell him something about herself.
With frowning brows, she kept silent, waiting for him to continue with a question. Ivar rolled his eyes, and asked her about her family.
'' We`re but a family humble peasants .'' The Viking could tell she loved cutting straight to the chase, not giving out any other detail unless asked.
Gaining all the courage she could muster, she turned slightly towards him, asking the dreaded question.
'' Where did you come from?''
Raising his eyebrows, Ivar chuckled darkly, shaking his head softly.
'' I don`t think you want to know.'' He admitted cynically.
'' Will that get me in trouble?'' She asked shyly.
'' You could say that.'' Smiling softly, Frigyth directioned her eyes to the ground, trying to ignore the burning stares of the curious Viking whose hand was slowly reaching up to her face, pausing for a second and taking a hold of a piece of her hair, and twirling it around his finger -almost lovingly so- which made her flinch for a second, before relaxing back and letting him play with strands of her hair.
The atmosphere between the two was peaceful, even though there was silence, but it was a welcoming one, in which neither felt the need to interrupt it. It was as if an unspoken rule was set. Both simply wanted to sit down and get lost between the thousands of trees and take a break from their societal obligations. Ivar leaned back on his elbows, straightening his legs in front of him, to give them a stretch, which gave the girl a full view of his crippled legs. She widened her eyes in surprise, but quickly gained her composure when she noticed Ivar clenching his jaw in anger, averting her eyes elsewhere.
It felt like they were there for an hour or two, when Frigyth sighed sadly and stood up, clenching the handle of the backet in her left fist and started taking small steps towards the hidden entrance marked by two bushes with a beaten track in between them. Ivar frowned, his eyes following her figure sharply, similar to a wolf following his prey.
'' I should go.'' Looking at her feet, she was swinging the basket slowly in her hand, as if waiting for the boy to stop her from going, although, deep down, she knew she was running behind with her tasks and she was bound to return home eventually, and her mother would not be happy if she came back empty handed.
Ivar nodded stoically, breaking his eyes from the girl and with a loud groan, he rolled onto his back, and began crawling towards the girl, ignoring her stares of bewilderment at his methods of traveling.
'' I should probably go too.'' He responded and begudgingly so.
'' It was nice meeting you.'' Frigyth complimented, with a small voice.
'' We will meet again, christian.'' He winked at her, which caused the maiden to let out a nervous laugh, having no idea what he could have possibly meant by that, and on that note, they both departed their own ways.
Upon her arrival back home, she was welcome by her worried mother, who seemed to have a look of concern mixed with irritation displaying across her face.
'' Where have you been?! It`s almost dark outside. And what is this? This is all you gathered in all this time you were gone?!'' She pointed at her basket, which was barely filled with any berries.
Frigyth shrugged off the hand her mother had placed on her shoulder, sprinting inside the cottage. The one-room hut was warm and all her family was gathered round at the table, chatting lively amongst eachother. Her presence was sensed by her father, and one by one her siblings all paused mid-conversation, to look at the newcomer. Her father smiled warmly at her, motioning with his hand to take a seat next to him.
'' We were wondering when you would come back Frig. Your mother was worrying terribly.'' He laughed, patting her back twice.
'' And I had all the reasons to. You know what they tell us, the priests. The woods are no longer safe.'' Her mother huffed angrily, stepping into the cottage and slamming the door shut, checking the small window incorporated in it for any intruders that might be lurking outside their homes. She took her seat, next to her husband and continued eating her freshly cooked pottage.
Frigyth`s father let out a breath of air, rubbing his face with his face. The rebel daughter rolled her eyes, pretending to be oblivious to what her mother was saying. Should she tell anyone that today she has met and spoken to a possible Viking? If she did, then she would reveal to everyone that she had been slacking rather than actually gathering food for the family, and she risked losing the task she was given, and probably forced to return to her old duties, which were mostly around the cottage. So she took the smarted option, and never mentioned the encounter with the stranger.
'' I know. Aelflead and the other blacksmiths think that we are to prepare for an attack.'' The father confessed sadly.
'' What makes you think that, dad?'' The youngest sibling asked, with her curious natured eyes.
'' Because sweetie, we have been ordered by the king to forge as many swords and shields as fast as we can manage. But when we tried asking the guards why, he refused to tell us. They were all acting suspicious.'' He shrugged, ripping a piece of the wholemeal bread and dipping it in the stew.
Frigyth was starting to get nervous. What if they are about to be attacked? But again, Ivar did not look dangerous. Evenmore, he was crippled. Surely that meant he was maybe thrown out of his tribe and forced to die alone. And even if she decided to tell her family about her encounter, in what way would that help them escape the fury of a Viking raid?
The contact she had with the mysterious boy was what kept her awake most of the night, and by the time her body was exhausted and allowed her to fall asleep, the rooster was already crowing, alerting the family that it was dawn and that meant time to go back to work. However, something felt odd. While Frigyth`s family members were grumbingly getting out of bed, the young maiden heard screams and clanks of swords outside. When realization hit her, she alerted her family to be silent for a second in order for them to pay attention to what might have been going outside.
''Haeddi, take the girls and hide in the barn. Wilfred and I are going outside to see what is happening.'' The father instructed his wife. ''Here, grab this.'' He threw a newly forged seax to his son, and he took an old rusty looking blade for himself, gesturing with his head towards the door. '' Let`s go.'' With one solemn look, Frigyth`s father glanced at his girls, holding a strong and loving eye contact with his wife, silently reassuring her that everything was going to be all right.
When the girls were left alone, Haeddi looked at her daughters, trying to contain the tears threatening to spill from her eyes. '' We`re going outside. Stick close to each other. Once we reach the barn, find a hiding spot. Underneath the hay, behind it. I don`t` know. But do it as fast as you can. We don`t know what awaits us out there.'' The four girls looked at her mother, nodding shakily and following closely behind her towards the door. The mother was counting with her fingers how many seconds they had left before she would open the door and the chaos would start. Frigyth could hear the faint screams of terror coming from the villagers and once the door was open and they started running, everything went in slow motion. The action outside became more vivid. The shrieks and cries of pain were amplified and all of those made the girls run faster than they had ever done so in their entire lives.
Once they safely reached the barn, her mother grabbed the youngest offspring and she chucked them both behind some haystacks. The other two sisters went off climbing on a ladder and finding a safe space to bury in.
Frigyth was looking around, trying to find the first hidin place and duck under it, but to her terror, she was forcefully grabbed by her arm by a very muscular man, that looked like he could eat her alive. She gulped, eyes wide open and heart drumming against her chest, almost as if it was ready to jump out of her chest. He gave her an animalistic smile, that sent shivers down to her spine. Her sisters and mom were watching terrified from the hiding spots how poor Frigyth was going to get killed...or worse.
With an unmatchable force, he turned her around with her back facing him, and raising his axe and readied himself to cut her thin linen dress open, ignoring her pleas and screams to stop, but a powerful voice made him pause mid-action.
''BÍÐA!'' Both the cruel man and Frigyth turned their heads to look at whoever just stopped the brutal Viking. The girl couln`t believe her eyes. Sitting in a single seated strange looking carriage pulled by a beautiful white stallion, sat the very guy that around this time the other day she was enjoying her time with in the meadow.
''ÞESSI ER MINN!!'' Ivar approached the enormous barbarian and pulled him away from his victim by his hair, holding his dagger against his throat.
''Gerðu þetta aftur og þú ert dauður!!'' He spat with venom, letting go of him. When he looked at the shaken lady, he softened his eyes, offering a friendly hand for her to take. She shakily shook her head no, losing any trust she had in him.
Seeing how reluctant she was, Ivar huffed annoyed. '' If you come with me, you`ll be safe.'' He promised. She glanced back at her mother and sisters-who were terrifyingly and confusingly observing the interaction between the two-, looking back and forth between them and him. He instantly put two and two together, and rolled his eyes playfully. '' They will not be harmed IF... you come with me.''
But before she had any chance to speak, her father and brother came rushing to her aid. Wilfred, her brother, seemed unharmed, except for a few cuts here and there and some blood staining his blade, but her father seemed to have a pretty deep cut on his side, that was bleeding alarmingly.
'' STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!'' Her father yelled, pointing his old and chipped sword at the Viking.
Ivar mockingly raised both his arms in surrender, faking a terrified expression. After a few moments, he then grabbed his trusty dagger, swirling it smoothly around his finger and pointing behind him at the army that was currently ravaging the village.
''See that? I am the leader of all of them. I can order them to stop anytime if I want to. That is why I am asking YOU again.'' He pointed his dagger in Frigyth`s direction. '' Are.You.Coming.With.Me?'' He asked slowly, putting an emphasis on each word, to ensure he was being understood.
The curly haired girl looked with saddening eyes at her dad, who was still clutching his sword with all his being, as if believing THAT could actually help her, then at her brother, who was copying his father`s movements, but with less confidence and then at her mother and sisters, who were all shaking their heads no and crying silently, not knowing what the outcome of this woul be.
There was no backing out of this. She had two simple but impactful choices. She either went with him, probably ending up a slave, but at least her family was safe, or so she hoped. Or she could refuse, and get killed by the previous Viking.
With determined steps, she approached Ivar, making him smirk in victory. Her father yelled at her angrily to get back there behind him, but she was already climbing Ivar`s carriage. The young ruler grabbed her hand softly, guiding her to sit on his knees, that she now got to observe, were covered in some sort of metallic braces.
Once she took her seat in his lap, he stroked her hair with one hand, while whispering in her ear. ''Good girl.'' She sat frozen in his lap, letting him wrap a strong arm around her waist to keep her steady.
She took a one last glance at her family, waving sadly at them and struggling to keep her composure.
'' They will be safe, right?! You promised!'' She asked desperately, glacing back at her house, which was now growing to be more and more far away.
'' On my arm ring.'' He pledged, placing his palm over his bracelet for a moment, showing her that he was serious about his oath. Grabbing with one arm the reins and with the other gripping her tightly against him, he yelled something in Old-Norse to the other men, fleeing the village afterwards towards an unknown location to the girl, from where a new life was about to start for her. She could only hope it was going to be good.

here's the thing though, even if it were a mistranslation (which i really hope it is), there's still the fact that the diasomnia uniforms do look uncannily similar to ones said in the mistranslation, and it's been upsetting me greatly as a diasomnia fan. i love their uniform, but knowing that there's a possibility it might've actually taken inspiration from that is just really disappointing and painful to think about.
Truthfully, we won’t ever know if they took inspiration from the SS. It can’t be denied that Japan’s view of history, especially that of WW2, is biased. There are people who do think that Japan’s glory days are the days of imperial Japan. The history of WW2 is not taught completely in schools. They have not apologized for the atrocities committed during that time.
However, it is also true that military uniforms from that time period also bear similarity with Diasomnia. There isn’t anything noteworthy about the design of Diasomnia that bears striking similarities with the Nazi uniform. Most comparisons I’m seeing are the collar, the boots, maybe some belts, things you’ll see in other uniforms from other militaries. There’s a much more detailed reblog about this that you may find here.
I don’t know if this will bring you comfort, but my stance on the matter as of now is that: A lot of people are saying that Disney making Diasomnia’s designs as militaristic is ‘glorifying’ those days of imperialism. But what is there that gives people that idea that they’re glorifying militaries? TWST is a game that is based off of villains, not heroes. None of these characters are being hailed as heroes in the game. We don’t know what’s going to happen to chapter 7 or how they’re going to be depicted there. For all we know, Disney might actually say that war bad, war crimes badder, nations should actually hold themselves accountable, through chapter 7.
Furthermore, TWST has been out for two years, and not once has anyone made a fuss about the designs of Diasomnia until this misTL happened, and even then, the original TLer apologized and corrected it. TWST fandom is good at pointing out the flaws and controversies of the game, i.e. the racism with Savanaclaw and Scarabia, so you would think that the Jewish fans would have pointed this out two years ago. Part of being a good consumer of media is knowing where you’re getting your sources: is the person or the people proclaiming that Diasomnia’s uniforms are inspired by Nazis actual translators? Are these people part of the minorities whose voices should be heard? Are these people the ones who have established to give correct and accurate information (as much as possible)? Or are these people simply chasing for clout by using controversies such as this?
This is not to excuse or condone the actions of what the Nazis—or any of the militaries, because let’s be honest, all militaries have committed atrocities—have done. No, what has been done is terribly wrong, and nations who had committed such atrocities should be held accountable for these things. You are valid in feeling this discomfort because in feeling that, you acknowledge that what had happened is wrong and cruel and shouldn’t be glorified. But at the same time, we need to keep ourselves rational and not get too caught up in our emotions. Discuss this with people you’re close with, discuss this in your blogs, but do not ever resort to harassing other people, whether it is Yana Toboso or TWST’s team or other fans who may argue against you.

Kiro’s 2021 Childhood Bday R&S Translation [CN]
***THIS POST CONTAINS CONTENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED YET ON EN SERVER!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS***
This is a translation from Kiro’s 2021 childhood birthday story released on CN server. I do not know any Chinese so this was done through Google Translate. I apologize for any errors or mistranslations. Without further ado, please continue on reading!!! :)
***WARNING: ANGST!!! THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE A HAPPY DAY FOR KIRO!!! FIRST IT WAS S2 CH12 AND NOW THIS!?!?! WTH, PAPERGAMES!?!?!***
[Chapter 1]: Child Star’s Birthday
7:50 am California
After Kiro ran to the classroom and sat down, he laid his head directly on the table. “You can sleep for another ten minutes.” He whispered to himself in his heart.
He is too sleepy.
Ten hours ago, he finished the last set of filming, returned from the studio to the house the company set up for him in California, and then caught up on all the missing courses and homework. It was already 3 o’clock in the morning.
As if on cue, his stomach growled and Kiro lay helplessly on the table.
Since his debut, he has become more or less accustomed to the professionalism of being a “star” but at this time his stomach seems to be persistently singing against him. Kiro hesitated for a moment and then opened a pack of soda five minutes later.
Sweetness hits the tip of his tongue and brings a sense of satisfaction to his brain. He finally breathed a sigh of relief, put on his headphones and closed his eyes.
This is the first time in a while he has taken a break in the past few days.
Kiro took a deep breath quietly and buried his face deeper into his arms.
But he could still feel the gazes around him looking at him and the innocent discussions. Even the moment he walked into the classroom and sat down, the air was still for half a second.
He doesn’t like this kind of “special treatment” nor does he like how he is always affected by it.
Over the years, he thought that he should be used to being watched constantly, and perhaps he had to bear the pressure from other peers. But sure enough, in fact, there are still many times that he will be a little breathless.
Like now.
As a child star, there were two to three days a week that he where he would be absent from school. For Kiro, his classmates are indeed some distance away. Because of his repeated absence, the- so-called disparity was expected.
The reasons are not so complicated in the eyes of the children. At this age, the feeling of distance is often more sensitive than adults.
He also wants to try his best to build a good relationship with them. After all, having friends is a very happy thing.
As if he had finally made up his mind, Kiro took a deep breath, smoothed down messy hair, and raised his smiling face along with his shining blue eyes.
“Good morning, everyone, long time no see!” No one could possibly refuse such a warm and sincere greeting, let alone Kiro.
Even though some shy classmates nodded their heads and smiled with furtive gazes, the greeting initiated by Kiro still received many responses. Soon, a small circle formed around him. Everyone scrambled to ask which crew he went to during the period of “his absence”, which big star he saw, and what new information he gathered.
Suddenly, a boy with curly hair, leaned in and patted Kiro on the shoulder with great enthusiasm.
“Kiro! Happy birthday!”
As his high voice rang out, the children who got together cheered in unison.
“They are all embarrassed to come and tell you, so I said it! Happy birthday, future star.”
Kiro was taken aback.
“Thank you.”
Almost a subconscious reply.
But in that small world that only belonged to Kiro, another voice sounded different from what he was doing at this time.
“So, today is my birthday.”
[Chapter 2]: A Heart to Live Up To
“Kiro, great, you haven’t left yet!”
The lingering sound of the bell was still echoing. Kiro had just cleaned up and wanted to seize the rare free time to make up for a good night’s sleep, when he was suddenly stopped by the instructor who had rushed over. He excitedly grabbed Kiro’s hands, looking very surprised.
“Teacher, are you looking for me?”
“Yeah....” The teacher didn’t seem to know how to begin. Kiro responded sensibly, leading the question back at the end of the dialogue.
“If there is anything I need to do, you can just say it directly.”
After hearing this, the teacher nodded in relief, as if he had waited for a long time and quickly told the whole story.
Kiro understood what was going on.
It turned out that there was a very important violin competition for high school students today and the classmate of the classical music department who represented the school had a temporary accident and was unable to participate. He wanted Kiro to help fill in.
“...Okay, I will try my best. Thank you, teacher, for believing in me.”
Even though he was tired, he did not refuse this sudden request.
It’s not that he isn’t interested in the competition, nor is he absolutely confident in his skills, it’s just...
He hopes that he is perfect enough in the eyes of the teacher.
After all, at this critical time, the teacher thought of him and believed in him, and he must not fail this trust.
Thinking about this, Kiro clenched his teeth, swallowed a yawn that was ready to come out, and forced himself to wake up. After the teacher went back to the residence to fetch his violin, he hurried to the scene of the competition.
The site was set up in the observation deck of a building and under the transparent glass plank pathway, it is a panoramic view of the entire city.
At the time of arrival, many contestants were already busy making preparations. Kiro’s appearance undoubtedly caused quite a stir. The teacher proudly met the gazes and protected Kiro through the crowd to their waiting area.
Kiro quickly entered the waiting area. He opened the violin bag, skillfully tightened the bow, wiped the rosin, set the violin on his shoulder, and tuned the pegs carefully and intently.
Now that he is here, he must do his best. He cheered himself up and walked in the direction where he was ready to take the stage.
“Don’t worry, he is a little star. Even if he doesn’t do well, he has publicity and won’t make the school lose too badly.”
The voice in the corner made Kiro stop.
He didn’t listen. It seemed that there was another voice arguing with him, but that was not important. Kiro just returned to the waiting area quietly, waiting for the announcement from the competition organizer. He just lowered his head and stood there quietly.
At this time a man came over. He patted Kiro’s shoulder lightly and said mysteriously.
“Kiro, this is the first time we’ve met. I am a teacher in the classical music department.” He lowered his voice, “Actually, I don’t really like the format of music competitions. Music should be something to enjoy and convey emotions, not some sort of boring game. So don’t think of it as a competition, but as a special show. I’m looking forward to hearing the music you play. I heard that you play the violin very well. This is the first time I will hear your music.
After that, he mischievously gave Kiro a big pat on the back. *Took some liberties here with the translation*
Kiro stared at this somewhat holistic man and did not speak for a long time. A similar and familiar feeling came out of him.
The broadcast system called Kiro’s name.
“Don’t think about anything, just let the world hear your voice.”
[Chapter 3]: Happy Birthday Song
The competition ended smoothly.
Kiro didn’t remember the process of his performance. He only remembered the way the classical music department teacher exaggeratedly raised his hands to applaud him when he left the competition. His eyes were full of real and undisguised recognition and praise.
At the end of the competition, he politely declined the kindness of the teachers and left alone.
The California coast is like spring all year round and the fresh air is filled with a faint smell of saltwater. Kiro walked, suddenly a little at a loss.
For a moment he didn’t know where he should go or where he could go. He just carried his violin bag and walked alone on the streets of California aimlessly.
Until he passed by a family restaurant.
Such restaurants are very common in California. People choose outdoor dining areas to enjoy their food with nature.
As far as Kiro’s line of sight could see, a family sat around the table warmly. There are grandparents, parents, and even uncles and aunts. And the main star of this family banquet is obviously the little girl sitting in the middle wearing a birthday hat.
She sat happily in the center, closing her eyes in front of a huge cake.
Everyone’s face was filled with the look of joy as they watched her patiently and earnestly. No one interrupted the most solemn “ceremony” at this time.
The little girl closed her eyes for a long, long time. Maybe she had a lot of wishes that she wants to come true or maybe she is carefully telling some wish that she wants to come true the most.
After all, in the eyes of a child, the more important the wish, the more carefully it will be heard and realized.
Kiro stood there and looked at the little girl’s face quietly. He didn’t know what he was feeling right now. It seemed that something he wanted to show was turning upwards along his heart, as if he would shed tears in the next second.
He just stood there silently, watching her finally make her wish, blowing out the candles while her family sang “happy birthday.” Grabbing the balloons in her hand, the girl ran around in the open space, spinning her little skirt.
Then she saw Kiro and ran towards him happily without knowing what she was thinking.
“Prince!” She waved her little hand at Kiro and said loudly. Kiro was stunned. The little girl ran up to him and raised her head, “His Royal Highness, are you here to wish me a happy birthday, too?”
Kiro thought for a while, crouched down and touched the little girl’s head, “Although I am not a prince, I wish you a happy birthday!”
The little girl didn’t seem to understand what he meant. She carefully picked out a yellow one from her balloon stash and gave it to Kiro.
“Thank you for wishing me happiness, and I wish you happiness too. This is for you.”
The little girl happily ran back to her seat after speaking with him and the whole family nodded politely to him, seeming to express gratitude.
Kiro looked at the yellow balloon in his hand and walked away slowly.
He was walking on the road, the sun a little dazzling, the balloon floating gently while he hummed quietly.
“Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me~”
At this time, his phone chimed, alerting him to an email.
[Chapter 4]: Special Birthday Gift
It is an email from KEY.
Since he came to the United States, KEY has always liked to use this “fun” way to keep in touch with him in addition to the phone.
Kiro sat on the roadside steps, “If my agent sees me like this, he will definitely be angry.”
Kiro thought about it leisurely but didn’t have any plans to get up.
“Today is my birthday, so I call the shots!” *Took some liberties here*
First, he simply replied to the fan messages wishing him a happy birthday on social media and then concentrated on deciphering KEY’s information. It is a very interesting little program. The code attached to the email can be directly written to change the content of the email.
Kiro has always been happy with this special design. Under his operation, the information was quickly decoded.
“The place where you stay most often.”
Kiro read it out gently, and there was a pair of combined numbers at the same time.
He raised his head, as if thinking of something.
The dance studio was deserted at this time.
This was the exclusive training room given to him by the company. Kiro took out the key and walked in gently in the same way as he had been in class.
This is a special place for him.
The sun in the afternoon was particularly brilliant, flowing into the entire classroom through the floor-to-ceiling windows, which looked clean and sparkling. Kiro stood in front of a small cabinet in the dance studio.
He felt like an ordinary child at this moment, being guided to find the answer in the way he was most interested in. He was a little happy when he thought of this.
Kiro cautiously opened the cabinet and found a box inside. He took it out, and after opening it, it turned out to be an exquisite violin.
The little violin along with the sunlight filtering down onto the light brown amber, reflected in his eyes, as if it was shining.
At this time, the second email came. It was simple and there was no need for decoding.
“Happy birthday.” He seemed to hear KEY saying this to him.
Kiro couldn’t help thinking, when did KEY hide it here?
As if responding to his question, footsteps came from outside the door. Kiro’s heart beat a little fast, and he suddenly wondered if there would be another gift.
He opened the door in surprise, and an unceremonious man greeted him.
The man didn’t even take off his shoes. The exquisite black leather shoes stepped on the smooth floor, looking particularly dazzling.
Kiro felt his fingertips instantly chill, and he clenched his hands hard to keep his body from shaking.
“I really don’t know why I’m responsible for this kid.” The man gave him a look of disgust, “I won’t talk too much nonsense with you.”
“The higher ups are very dissatisfied with you.” Each word struck Kiro’s heart, “Don’t forget why you want to become a star.”
“In one month’s time,” he threw a document on the ground, “Finish it.”
“I don’t know what you have to look forward to.” The man walked in front of him to the center of the floor. Kiro lowered his head, and there were only footprints left in his field of vision that seemed to have been dyed black with thick ink, step by step, on a clean floor.
It seems that no matter how hard he tried, he can’t wipe off that trace.
“3684.” The man impatiently left his last words, “Don’t be too self-righteous. You really think you are worth something?”
[Chapter 5]: Things You Want To Protect
In the empty dance studio, the operating sound of the air humidifier hummed quietly.
Kiro didn’t know how long he had been standing there until the tingling sensation rushed to his legs and he instinctively moved forward slightly.
The towel and hairband hanging on the side of the cabinet came into view and he strode forward suddenly and threw them to the ground fiercely. ***The towel and hairband mentioned here are what Kiro uses during dance practice to wipe off/absorb sweat***
The world swallowed his outburst silently but indifferently, making him at this moment seem small and lonely.
In the end, he dragged his numb body and walked tiredly to the towel and hairband, as if all his strength had been drained and slowly knelt on the floor.
Just like the day when he first picked them.
Kiro stretched out his hand, slowly picked up the towel and hair band, and carefully hugged them in his arms. They were his only close friends, walking side by side. They were proof of his hard work. But if these proofs can be trampled so easily, then what was all his effort for?”
The edges of the cotton towel and hairbands were slightly deformed due to their repeated use. He swiped hard, remembering that he had almost thrown them away because of being used so many times.
And whenever he was about to throw them in the trash can, the soft texture in his hands was always quietly hot at that moment.
It seemed to be telling him, “Wait a minute. Hold on.”
It’s as if they were reminding him they were made in order to continued to be used.
He once heard others say that life will find a way out.
“Is this the way you worked hard to find?”
He stood foolishly in front of the trash can, looking at the towel and hairbands in his hands, muttering to himself.
Then he would stand there, talking endlessly for a while.
He thought that music was the way out for his life that was once empty.
It seemed that in the darkness where he still was, a gleaming light suddenly broke in. In that world, he can always shine with golden light and light up his life forever.
He can see himself.
But if he can’t maintain this purity, is he still worthy to live in this world that once taught him to redeem?
No.
Kiro raised his head and looked at himself in the mirror.
That world may be impure, but his dream is real, and his love is real. This was what he wanted to do as Kiro, and it was the only way out.
He is Kiro. Not 3684.
He rubbed the hair band firmly, then raised his hand to tie it on his head and smiled at himself in the mirror with encouragement and humbleness as he did before each practice.
“Today’s 2-hour dance training has not been completed yet.”
A dynamic rhythm sounded in the studio and the sound of footsteps rubbing on the floor resounded one after another. Kiro was practicing hard while telling himself in his heart.
“This is just another ordinary day, tomorrow will only be better.”
Two hours later, he turned off the music, bent over gasping, and abnormally did not stand up for a long, long time.
Finally, for what seemed like ages, he slowly straightened up, took out the violin from the bag on the floor, and sat by the window. The dark brown violin was lined with soft light under the sun and he held it as if being embraced.
“I will definitely protect you.”
Kiro’s eyes were soft, and his tone was gentle and firm.
The birds outside the window chirped and landed freely on the edge of the window.
“It’s great that you are free.”
Kiro smiled and gently extended his fingertips.
“I will be free too.”
[Chapter 6]: Free Sailing
A telephone ring broke the silence of the studio.
Kiro looked down at the phone. It was an unfamiliar number. Maybe it was from a fan somewhere, but he picked it up in a ghostly manner.
“Hello, this is PLANET Yacht Club, what can I do for you?”
Kiro was stunned. The person at the other end waited patiently for his silence. After a long time, he remembered that when he was resting on the sidewalk a while ago, he accidentally saw a magazine ad about yachts. He made a phone consultation.
However, because he needed to go to pratice immediately he asked the other party to contact him afterwards.
Unexpectedly, it happened to be today.
“I have read your information. I have some interest in your yachts. How can I learn more about it?”
“If this is the case, you can visit our terminal directly. On which day would you like to make an appointment?”
“Is today okay?”
When Kiro said it, he was also stunned. He felt his heart beating, but he didn’t know what this feeling represented.
“Of course, we will send the address to your phone later, looking forward to your visit.”
When Kiro saw that yacht, he decided to buy it.
It was lying quietly in the corner of the entire pier, unremarkable, but in the light of the surging tide, it instantly attracted Kiro’s eyes.
Of course, the salesman saw the young boy coming to the club, obviously looking a little bit awkward and seemed to be thinking about how to politely ask him to leave.
“I want that yacht.”
Kiro didn’t leave the yacht’s sight and took out his bank card in the salesman’s dumbfounded gaze.
The boat was moored by a small harbor where there was a little old port. This was the place he saw on the way to the club.
He asked the people of the club to help him get the boat here and said that in a few days, he would come again to ask about how to operate the yacht.
It was dusk now and there were no people, only him and his boat, listening to the ebb and flow together.
The half-round sunset has fallen below the sea level. The sun is golden and far away, warmly embracing the whole world.
The yacht hasn’t been decorated yet and looks a bit simple, but Kiro doesn’t care. He feels that he has seen the future of the ship.
This is his boat, he repeats this in his heart over and over, and in the future, there will be someone who is most special to him in this world who will share it with him.
Think of it as a birthday present for yourself even though there is no cake and no birthday song today.
But this is also good.
Kiro was lying on the small deck, seagulls flying non-stop. The sky was divided into half blue and half-yellow. The boat rose and fell with the tide. He opened his arms as if he could touch the sky.
Kiro suddenly felt that he could go anywhere.
Nothing can stop him.

My opinion on every route for episode 16
As usual Priya’s stuff came a day late, so today I finally found a playthrough. Now prepare for a long post.
In general
I loved this episode, I liked the fact that almost everything was different on every route.
I don’t usually talk against the AP system, but this time I have to say it. Now we don’t waste AP for nothing, but we can’t have a long episode because that would be too expensive, and that’s a problem for Beemoov, but I can’t help to compare the sex scenes of this episode, to sex scenes in Eldarya. It was well written, but it was rushed, because of what I said.
Eldarya has basically the old AP system (you can think about episode 40 in HSL in the old AP system too, if you like), the first time there, when you meet your boyfriend, you have a really long scene with him awesomely described as it should be on their first time. This was the special “first time” in mclul, and the AP system cut it short because otherwise people would complain, and for good reasons. That pisses me off, because I want long episodes, I want informative long scenes, or having long pointless conversations with the crush, but we won’t have it because every single thing we say costs AP.
I did like that they included the condom on the scene, that was the right way to do it, unlike the dam thing. Just make it a part of the normal dynamic, don’t make a class out of it right on the scene, thanks.
Now, my thoughts on every route.
Castiel
I worried at first when he got mad, I didn’t want to feel him as an overprotective boyfriend who feels like he is on his right to treat you badly just because he was worried. I actually took one of the negative answers for him on purpose, because I didn’t want to just go with it when he was talking shit about my hurted friend. But he stopped and properly apologized, at least for my taste, and actually went down to a cuter level of worrisome.
I loved that we are getting close to be the official girlfriend of Crowstorm’s Castiel. I’m a little surprised we’re not everywhere on internet yet, but well, we are being seen by his fans slowly.
I have mixed feelings on the text messages because of the damn translation. In Spanish server he said things that melted me, but they’re not on the English server, so now I’m waiting to see if he said it on French server.
The scene in the Snake Room got me a little awkward at first because I didn’t understand what was the point of it, but once I finished that scene I stop to analyse and I LOVED IT, it was such a sweet thing to do. It was Castiel introducing the love of his life to the other love of his life and I couldn’t think of anything more especial. Castiel opened up entirely this episode, and the talk about Demon was clearly a relationship development sign (remember when we had the chance to ask him about it in episode 5, I think, and the l’o’m dropped down?).
I found funny the freaking out over the lingerie thing because I thought it only happened in Castiel’s route if you were his ex, as a little wink to the pineapple incident (HIMYM flashback) in HSL, but turned out it happens always with everyone.
The date was perfect, he buying everything because he wasn’t sure what did she like (as his ex I felt a little offended, but whatever), his stressfulness, the talk, the hot moment that he stopped was also cute. I like their dynamic when they are together for a long time, and him suggesting that she should stay in his apartment for the entire week was precious. The massage scene is gold, the sex scene was perfect, I loved that he finally said that he wants us to go with him on the tour, but Candy didn’t say a thing about it, and she really should have.
They had sex with the curtains open again, let’s hope there are no pictures this time.
Basically, on this episode I felt comfortable with him, and that’s pretty much all I was asking for this route in UL. I absolutely loved it, and I appreciate that they are making this so romantic now, because at one point it felt emotionless and all I wanted was to leave his route. I understand that he is a wilder, but he had a late entrance, and got together too fast, I wasn’t in love with him at all, that’s why I totally agree with them making his route so… tender? thoughtful? cute? you pick the word, but now they are making me fall in love with this guy, and it worked because I couldn’t be more sure that this is the route I’ll follow. Just give it some time and he’ll be the hottie he has always been again.
Rayan
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEIR FIRST MOMENT. It was SO heartbreaking, she just broke down in his arms in front of absolutely everyone, and he couldn’t do anything for her because that hug was already too much for a professor-student relationship. I would’ve like to see what did he came up with in the beginning to go with the group to look for her on the fair, especially because he went back home in episode 15. I picture his worrisome when he decided to go back for her when she disappeared. And it is funny to think that half of the group actually knew what was actually going on before the hug (Chani, Rosa and Leigh knew from us, and Castiel figured it out), and still Chani was shocked too.
It was gold, but then came the meeting in the library. I thought everything was going to be alright when she got there and asked him if she could sit there because it was the only free chair, because from that place they had complete control of who is coming close to them or who could hear them, but they didn’t took any attention to it afterwards, and it got risky because they are so obvious pretty much jumping away from each other every time someone got close and shutting up suddenly.
The visit to the apartment wasn’t that risky at all in comparison. I was a little annoyed by the fact that he didn’t even show her his beautiful apartment before having sex, they went straight to it, but then Irealized it makes sense since they don’t get to touch each other like the other routes, they always have to hold themselves when they’re together, and this was the very first time they could be physically expressive without worrying about anything else.
The sex scene was good, but I felt a little cringy reading it, but it was a personal thing, like I felt I made the right decision when I didn’t change my route when I wanted to. But, I totally approve this episode for his route.
Nathaniel
[x] Good for you, Beemoov, you didn’t rush it, I keep my faith.
It was a really sweet episode with him, it was really sad in the end. I was hoping more blood and drama in the beginning, but it’s fine, we got the drama in the end.
I like that Nathaniel didn’t steal the entire episode for people in other routes. I hope they keep it that way on the other arcs, because right now it feels like Nath is the purest love in the entire game, and I’m ok with it, because is his arc, and I hope they make me feel the same when we face Castiel’s.
The sex scene felt a little out of place, especially for someone with stitches, and because he was in pain with just a hug. I don’t know, I don’t understand how can you get in the mood for it in that situation, but for the dramatic touch, it was ok.
I know I’m not saying too much about him right now, but I feel like everyone already said all the good words for it.
I liked the fact that he cleaned up his room this time, and him living Candy his apartment and credit card was such a pure thing for me, I can’t even-
Hyun
He was cute as usual. I laughed SO HARD at the little “cheating” text message-drama, because if there is anyone I wouldn’t EVER buy it, it’s him, it was hilarious.
I like how they are all confident to let his sisters get to know Candy.
The Toy Story thing was awesome, although I didn’t quite get if it was a joke from Morgan and Alexy or an actual mistake, since he mentioned that they were also going to see a movie, but I doubt it, I think it was just another mistranslate.
On the sex scene I definitely got surprised when he went wild on the table, I was expecting him to be more shy, but he wasn’t. On everything else… he was just cute, that’s it for him.
Priya
Now things with her are getting cuter too, but sadly, it’s still behind all the other routes.
I liked the fact that she didn’t agree with Castiel and actually tried to understand Candy’s decisions (I hope it wasn’t just to disagree with Castiel, it annoyed me that she is still not over his proposition in episode 11)
I hope she keeps calling Candy Pumpkin. I’m happy that she can take the exam, if I were her I would’ve been crying for those two whole days, she is awesome for that. I liked the fact that she was the only one to notice the necklace.
About the date, I loved her room, I loved that she put on her pajamas, that was a cute detail too, like a different kind of intimacy. When she falls asleep was a real plot twist, it would’ve been so funny if the episode ended there, and next episode started with the conclusion of the date.
About the illus
Rayan looks gorgeous and passionate, I love how his hair looks, but he looks a little too alive, I remembered him more grey than that, but I’m fine with it. Candy, on the other hand, looks awful, her face is drawn weird, she has one giant boob, and a nonexistent one. Well, that or she totally broke her shoulder. I’m getting a little annoyed by the way they shadow the muscles lately, makes it all confusing and unrealistic in my opinion.
Nathaniel’s illu is probably the best one, but I think Candy is a little too high up, and it’s weird not to see her nipple there since we’re seeing almost the entire boob. Now, my real problem with it is that they decided to make a sexual illu on every route, but on this one, it wasn’t the more important moment at all. I totally would’ve preferred a picture of them crying together, or Candy alone when she woke up, that would’ve been heartbreaking. Yes, some people could disagree with me, because it can be ‘unfair’ but nothing stops them from having a sexual illu on further episodes.
Castiel’s face looks weird, although every time I see it, it gets better. Is cute to see him blushing, but his body looks weird, especially in the shadows on his torso, and the perspective on his legs. Candy looks gorgeous, I think this one has been her best illu so far, I don’t quite get why people say she’s looking at us, but I can’t deny she has too many toes, lmao. This illus is the cutest one, the way Candy is looking at Castiel is so loving, and him looking straight to her face while blushing is so romantic. This one is my favorite.
Hyun got the worst one. He looks weird, the position is weird, Candy looks weird. I think they should’ve gone for something more classic here. Although his left hand is getting brave.
Priya is a goddess, she is so pretty. The only thing that annoys me is how dark it looks for a morning, and Candy’s back is broken as everyone had mentioned.

Hello! Not sure if other people asked you about this already but have you read Ashihara's comment for this Jump SQ issue? In Viz's translation he said "20-page increments", what does that exactly mean? Or is this a mistranslation?
Hi back! First, some apologies as I have been on Tumblr even less recently. Some of it is me being distracted (and let me take this chance to thank the people who were very understanding about my distractions and other nice messages! My copy of the Supersons Omnibus recently came in the mail, so distractions are definitely still happening >.>) but some of it is also me figuring out setting up my blog somewhere else (which is also still happening…soon…). Either way, I’m sorry that I took so long to answer asks, some of them are now obsolete, like this one.
To be fair, Ashihara’s comment was pretty vague, but with this issue I think we can infer that he means he is continuing with the pace of about 20 pages per chapter and 2 chapters per issue. Whether he can maintain this pace is something we will have to wait and see.
In any case, I will definitely try not to wait until the next issue of Jump before answering some of the asks still in my inbox. But for now, on to the translation:

Yuitsuka: Agent HusYuitsuka: Is plugging up all the paths and narrowing Azuma squad’s avenues ofescape!
*bam bam bam*
*crash*
Inukai: An Escudo’s standard range is about25 metresInukai: But with Hus-kun’s trion, he can make blockades much further away
*bang bang bang*
Panel 2
*bang bang bang*
*clatter clatter*
Panel 3
Arashiyama: I see
Arashiyama: Tamakoma Second is…
Panel 4
Arashiyama: Having Agent Amatori cover thesouth side that has the large hole in it
Panel 5
Arashiyama: With Agent Hus putting on thepressure from the opposite side
Panel 1
Arashiyama: And when Azuma squad respond tothat
Arashiyama: Agent Kuga will spring hissurprise attackArashiyama: Is what it looks like
Panel 3
Inukai: Azuma squad is also likely tonotice Tamakoma’s aim
Inukai: I wonder how they will deal withit?
Panel 4
Azuma: Tamakoma’s play is to slowly driveus into a cornerAzuma: The more time passes, the less we can do
Azuma: Let me hear your answers
Panel 5
Okudera: …
Okudera: Let’s retreat
Panel 1
Okudera: In these circumstances, thechances of winning are low
Okudera: In that caseOkudera: We should limit the damage to as little as possible
Panel 2
Azuma: Okudera chooses ‘retreat’
Azuma: What about you, Koarai?
Panel 3
Koarai: …it ain’t my nature to not give as good as I got
Koarai: If I’m gonna bailout anyway I want to at least take them down with me…
Panel 4
Koarai: …is what I want to say, but…
Panel 5
Koarai: Kuga’s probably hiding aroundsomewhere anyway
Koarai: Chance of success seems low so Iwon’tKoarai: One vote for ‘retreat’
Panel 6
Azuma: …I see
Panel 1
Koarai: But my foot’s screwed, it’s hard tosay if I manage to get awayKoarai: I’ll probably be discovered if I use GrasshopperKoarai: And the ways out are being plugged up fast
Panel 2
Hitomi: There are still beacons left so wecan still trick them a bit
Hitomi: I’ll mark the escape routes
Koarai: Mako-san, I’m counting on you!
Panel 3
Azuma: Alright
Azuma: First, escape from the mall
Panel 4
Azuma: HitomiAzuma: Give me control of some of the beacons
Azuma: As close to outside as possible
Hitomi: Roger
Panel 5
Osamu: …!
Panel 1
*beep beep beep*
Panel 2
*beep beep beep*
Osamu: The enemies’ signatures are…
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: Oh? Several of Azuma squad’sradar signatures
Yuitsuka: Are heading to the south!
Panel 4
Yuitsuka: Are they thinking of doing somepressuring of their own
Yuitsuka: By trying to guess at Agent Amatori’s location?
Panel 5
Inukai: Well, from the Tamakoma side
Inukai: It won’t look like anything morethan a bluff…
Panel 1
Osamu: Thisis probably a diversion using the beacons…Osamu: Should I get Chika to destroy thebeacons with her Meteora?
Osamu: …noOsamu: They might be aiming to confirmour positions by inviting attack…
Panel 2
Hus: It’s a deception
Panel 3
Hus: A feint to put us on the defensiveHus: We can leave it
Usami: Well, usually that’s what you’dthink…
Panel 4
Osamu: Theopponent is Azuma-san
Panel 5
Osamu: Hemight make us think it’s a fake
Osamu: Andoutsmart us that way…?
Panel 1
Hus: Chika is holding down the frontHus: And I’ve plugged up most of the other exits
Hus: If the enemy make a move to escape wecan lock down on them in an instantHus: The chances of them having already left the building are low
Panel 2
Hus: Setting up an obvious diversion likethisHus: Is proof of how cornered they are
Osamu:The truth is that’s what I think too…
Panel 3
Osamu:But just in case…
Osamu:Just in case if that’s not it…
Panel 4
*disappear disappear*
Panel 5
Osamu: …!?
Osamu:Two of the signatures vanished…!?
Panel 6
Inukai: Whoa, adding even more informationto parse
Yuitsuka: It’s just like Azuma-san tounsettle them like this
Panel 1
Inukai: Now, this time
Panel 2
Inukai: It’s Tamakoma’s turn to cope again
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: For now
Yuitsuka: It feels letting Agent Amatorimake her escape is the fastest way to deal with it…
Panel 4
Arashiyama: The south side of the buildingcan’t be marked while Agent Amatori is moving
Arashiyama: If Tamakoma wishes to continuetheir current offensive then it’ll be difficult to move her
Panel 5
Yuitsuka: In which case, the move Tamakoma can make is…
Panel 6
Arashiyama: Either decide Azuma squad’s setup is a feint and continue their offensive
Arashiyama: Or consider ‘just in case’Arashiyama: Throw away their offensive and protect Agent Amatori
Panel 1
Arashiyama: Or
Arashiyama: ‘The 3rd option’
Panel 2
Inukai: But with Mikumo-kun’s personalityInukai: The choice of not protecting Amatori-chan…
Arashiyama: I feel he won’t take it either
Panel 3
Osamu: …stop attacking!
Osamu: Please cover Chika!
Panel 4
Chika: …!
Panel 5
Yuuma: Hm
Panel 6
Hus: What…!?
Panel 1
Hus: Don’t be a fool!Hus: Do you intend to let them escape from right under our noses!?
Osamu: On the off chance that Chika goesdown hereOsamu: We’d lose Azuma squad anyway
Panel 2
Osamu: If Chika survivesOsamu: Even if Azuma squad runs, we can smoke them out with bombing raids
Panel 3
Osamu: Guaranteeing Chika’s safety is thehighest priority!
Hus: Don’t say something so sloppy
Panel 4
Hus: Did you forget the previous battle?
Hus: Azuma has the skills to shoot downshells
Panel 5
Hus: Chika didn’t face any counterattacksjust nowHus: Only because Azuma was inside the building
Panel 1
Hus: If Azuma can move freelyHus: He’s going to shoot down the Meteoras next
Panel 2
Osamu: …!
Hus: Azuma calculated your personalityHus: And is leading you to pick the less likely choice
Panel 3
Hus: Like I said before
Hus: I won’t obey instructions that aren’tvalid
Panel 4
Osamu: …
Panel 5
Chika: Osamu-kun…
Panel 1
Osamu:I know what Hus is saying is probably right
Osamu:…but…
Osamu:I can’t throw out the chance of ‘just in case’…
Panel 2
Osamu:Jin-san said ‘Don’t falter’
Osamu:In this situation…
Osamu:Which choice means I’m not ‘faltering’….!?
Panel 3
Yuuma: Then
Panel 4
Yuuma: I’ll guard Chika
Panel 1
Yuuma: Chika and Hus
Yuuma: Can act as they did before
Panel 2
Osamu: …!
Osamu: But then Hus will be alone…
Hus: That’s fine
Panel 3
*wind howling*
Hus: This conversation is finishedHus: I will continue searching for the enemy
Panel 5
*rustle*
Panel 6
Yuitsuka: !
Yuitsuka: Tamakoma is on the move!
Panel 1
Yuitsuka: Agent Kuga is heading to coverfor Agent Amatori
Yuitsuka: It looks like Agent Hus hasstayed!
Panel 2
Arashiyama: Moving to deal with bothArashiyama: It’s ‘the 3rd option’
Panel 3
Inukai: But is it okay to spread out theirforces~
Inukai: Like this it’s more or less 2versus 1 inside the mall
Panel 4
Azuma: Onlyone made a moveAzuma: …which means…
Panel 5
Azuma: Thetime limit is until the beacons run out of trion
*sching*
Panel 1
Osamu: …
Panel 2
Yuuma: Sorry OsamuYuuma: Please give Hus a chance
Osamu: ‘Chance’…?
Panel 3
Yuuma: Letting Kage-sempai escape
Yuuma: And Osamu getting taken out byYuzuru
Panel 4
Yuuma: Hus considers both of theseYuuma: His mistakes
Osamu: …!
Panel 5
Yuuma: That’s why he wants to earn thosepoints back himself
Panel 1
Yuuma: He’s very earnest
*wind howling*
Panel 2
*bam bam bam bam*
Panel 3
*bang bang bang bang*
Panel 4
*drop*
Panel 1
Yuitsuka: Slowly blockading from the topYuitsuka: Agent Hus is steadily driving Azuma squad into a corner!
Panel 2
Arashiyama: For Agent Koarai to escape the mallArashiyama: He will need to break down a wall at some point…
Inukai: It does seem like he’ll be discovered by Hus-kun before thatInukai: Will he try to counterattack?
Panel 3
Hitomi: Hus-kun is probably already here, Koara!
Koarai: Roger!
Panel 1
*bam*
Yuitsuka: Agent Hus has finally locked ontoAgent Koarai!
Panel 3
*step*
Panel 4
*step*
Panel 5
Hus: Koarai’sfoot is damaged
Panel 1
Yuitsuka: Will everything be decided here!?
Panel 2
*sching*
Hus: I’lldecide everything here!
Panel 1
*wind howling*
Panel 2
Yuitsuka: Ah!
Panel 3
Hus:I thought
Panel 4
Hus:That’s what you’d do!
*bang*
Panel 1
*whoosh*
Panel 2
Yuitsuka: Just the Bagworm…!
Panel 6
*bang*
Panel 7
*fwoosh*
Panel 1
*bam bam bam bam bam bam*
Panel 2
*bang bang*
Panel 4
Hus: Tsk…
Hus:I only got his leg
*crack crack crack*
Computer: Combat body active limit reachedComputer: Bailout
Panel 5
*bang*
Panel 1
*wind howling*
Yuitsuka: Agent Hus bails out!
Panel 4
Okudera: You did it!
Panel 5
Yuitsuka: Azuma squad captures a point atthe eleventh hour!
Yuitsuka: And escapes from the shoppingmall!
Panel 6
Koarai: …what do we do from here?Koarai: Do we aim for time up?Koarai: Or bailout immediately?
Panel 1
Azuma: I suppose…
Panel 2
Azuma: Depending on their nextapproach…
*wind howling*
Panel 3
Hus: Let Chika bomb them
Panel 4
Hus: Both Azuma squad members have damageto their legs
Hus: He can’t snipe and run right now
Panel 5
Hus: Make one shotHus: And Azuma will surely make the decision to withdraw
Osamu: …got it!
Panel 1
Chika: Meteora!
*sching*
Panel 2
*bang bang bang bang*
Panel 3
*bang*
Panel 1
Azuma: …it’s time
*bang bang bang bang*
Azuma: Withdraw
*bang*
Koarai: Roger!
Panel 2
*bang bang*
*whoosh*
Yuitsuka: Ah, Azuma squad has voluntarilybailed out!
Panel 3
Arashiyama: Because Azuma squad had damageto their legs
Arashiyama: I think it’s a valid decision
Panel 4
Yuitsuka: Azuma squad successfully escapesand leaves the field
Yuitsuka: Surviving to the endYuitsuka: Tamakoma Second receives an additional 2 survival points!
Panel 1
Yuitsuka: And the match ends here!Yuitsuka: The final score is 6 to 2 to 2 to 1!
Yuitsuka: Tamakoma Second wins!
| Pointsearned | Survival points | Total
Tamakoma 2nd | 4 | 2 | 6
Azuma squad | 2 | | 2
Kageura squad | 2 | | 2
Suzunari First | 1 | | 1
Panel 2
Yuitsuka: A massive 6 points!Yuitsuka: Even though Captain Azuma took him out at the end
*rustle rustle rustle rustle*
Yuitsuka: Tamakoma’s rookie really went onthe rampage! This was the result!
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: How was the matchYuitsuka: For our two commentators?
Inukai: Actually, that…
Panel 1
Inukai: Azuma-san’s replacement techniqueat the end there
Inukai: How did he do that?
Panel 2
Yuitsuka: Just my guess…
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: But perhaps it was something likethis
1. Hiding among the Dummy Beaconsignatures and wait for Koarai to lead Hus Hang Bagworm from a Lightning left on the floor above
2. Match Hus’s attack and activateIbis Lightning disappears and Bagworm falls
3. Shoot Hus when he reacts to theBagworm
Panel 4
Inukai: Whoa, that’s dirty
Inukai: I’ll rewatch the logs later
Arashiyama: This is…the wider the field ofvision of an Agent, the more likely they’ll be caught out
Panel 1
Arashiyama: On the other hand, Agent Hus
Arashiyama: Also planned for just in caseand left half of his bullets by his side
Panel 2
Arashiyama: Taking Captain Azuma’s mobilityeven as he fell at the end there
Arashiyama: And making withdrawal anecessityArashiyama: I think that decision Agent Hus made was very appropriate
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: …well then, once again
Yuitsuka: Let’s look back on the match andplease give us your evaluation
Panel 4
Inukai: If we’re speaking of the openingphase, Suzunari’s darkness strategy was interesting
Panel 5
Inukai: I was thinking it during the match tooInukai: I think they would have gotten more hits if the opponent wasn’t Kage
Panel 1
Inukai: Well, the result is that Suzunaristopped at 1 point
Inukai: And Taichi-kun was taken outwithout making a single shot though
Panel 2
*sob*
Panel 3
Taichi: My strategy failed…
Taichi: So frustrating…
*sob*
Kuruma: Just being able to throw offKageura-kun means we got a good reactionKuruma: It’s fine
Taichi: Really…?
Panel 4
Arashiyama: Suzunari First’s basic strategyis evolving too
Arashiyama: And on top of that, if they canmake the opponent think ‘there’s no predicting what they’d do’Arashiyama: I think that will become a strength for them in the future
Panel 5
*brighten*
Taichi: Arashiyama-san…!
Panel 1
Inukai: The middle phase, from whenTamakoma joined inInukai: Was just
Inukai: Escudo being OP
Panel 2
Inukai: It’s amazing enough he didn’t runout of trion even after so many
Inukai: But I was surprised by how he usedthemInukai: Like growing them out of people
Panel 3
Arashiyama: There are two Escudo users inTamakoma branch, Agent Jin and Agent Karasuma
Arashiyama: So he might have gotten hintsfrom them
Panel 4
Hus: I was taught by Torimaru, but not byJin
*pout*
Panel 5
Inukai: Well, Kou-kun was as badass asusual
Inukai: And I thought Tamakoma and Suzunariwere a fair match…
Panel 1
Inukai: But Kuga-kun had some understatedlynice moves
Arashiyama: That’s right
Panel 2
Arashiyama: This time Agent Hus’sactivities made a large impactArashiyama: But I thought Agent Kuga’s attentive support overall was just asbig
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: So you are saying that he allowedAgent Hus to capitalise further on his abilities
Arashiyama: That’s right
Panel 4
*reach*
Panel 1
*bump*
Panel 2
Inukai: On the other hand
Inukai: Kage’s movements were pretty lacking
Panel 3
Inukai: Usually it’s like he has morecomposure
Inukai: But it felt like he was morecareful, or more passive
Panel 4
Inukai: Kage trying desperately to run atthe end
Inukai: Also wasn’t like him
Panel 5
Yuzuru: …really?
Panel 1
Kitazoe: Hmmm, well, he might have been alittle worked up
Kitazoe: Since you getting in the selection for the expedition hangs on this
Yuzuru: Eh
Panel 2
Yuzuru:My…?
Panel 3
Kageura: …oi
Panel 5
Kageura: …it’s not the end
Kageura: It’s been a while since I foundsomething I wanna do
Panel 1
Yuzuru:…!
Panel 2
Yuzuru: …
Yuzuru: Yeah…!
Panel 3
Inukai: …and then
Inukai: It’s Amatori-chan’s Hyper Meteora
Panel 4
Inukai: The result is that Azuma squadchose to retreatInukai: But that was decided by Koara and Okkun, right?
Yuitsuka: Based on Azuma-san’s trainingpolicy, it should be
Panel 5
Inukai: Putting aside Okkun, it’sunexpected for Koara to choose withdrawal
Inukai: I thought he’d try for one lastchance up to the end
Arashiyama: You can feel his growth
Panel 1
Koarai: Even if he says I’ve grown
*sigh*
Koarai: Frankly we couldn’t do anything butrun…
Panel 2
Azuma: No
Azuma: With this I know you can judge asituation properly
Panel 3
Azuma: Up to now we have limited you tocoordinating as an Attacker
Azuma: But it’s about time to full-out liftthe ban on sub triggers
Panel 4
*clatter*
Panel 1
Okudera: Really!?
Koarai: I want Hound!
Azuma: Make sure you discuss it properlywith your trion
Panel 2
Inukai: Well, in the end, my impression thistime is
Inukai: ‘Tamakoma’s scary’Inukai: Basically
Panel 3
Arashiyama: Fully capitalising on therebeing no data on Agent Hus
Arashiyama: And reliably earning points isjust like Tamakoma, I thought
Yuitsuka: I see
Panel 4
Osamu: …Hus
Panel 5
Osamu: You said during the matchOsamu: ‘The reason you won’t use Viper’
Osamu: Just what was that?
Panel 1
Hus: …my planHus: Was to steal a big lead from Kageura squadHus: But
Panel 2
Hus: The moment Kageura became Suzunari’spointHus: Considering the environment is ‘night’Hus: And Azuma’s forte are strategies that try to get to time’s up
Hus: There was the possibility that wecan’t earn that many points
Panel 3
Hus: If we can’t create a decisive gap thismatchHus: Then the importance of the next match increases
Osamu: …!
Panel 4
Hus: In that case, there is no cause tounnecessarily reveal our hand
Hus: Is what I thought, that’s all
Panel 5
Osamu: …
Osamu:He was already thinking of what’s next
Osamu:In the middle of that match…!
Panel 1
Hus: Iwill definitely take this team on the expedition
Panel 2
Yuuma:He’s very earnest
Panel 3
Osamu:This guy…
Panel 4
Osamu:He’s really
Osamu:That kind of guy…
Panel 1
Yuitsuka: …and now, the overall ranking
Yuitsuka: Though as the evening divisionstill remains, this is still tentative…
Panel 2
Yuitsuka: Kageura squad and Tamakoma Secondare tied with the same points!Yuitsuka: In these cases, the team with the higher ranking at the start of theseason goes on top
Yuitsuka: So Kageura squad is No.2 andTamakoma is No.3!
Panel 3
Yuitsuka: The battle around the conditionto enter the selection for the expedition, ‘B-rank No.2 or above’Yuitsuka: Will remain complicated until the end, it seems!
Panel 4
Yuitsuka: With this, Round 7 day divisioncomes to a closeYuitsuka: Arashiyama-san, Inukai-sempaiYuitsuka: Thank you for commentating
Arashiyama: Thank you for having us
Inukai: You did some good work too,Yuitsuka-chan
Panel 5
Izumi: At the very end
Izumi: Kageura squad and Tamakoma are tied~
Panel 1
Izumi: Doesn’t this mean you guys’ll have abig role, Ninomiya-san?Izumi: Whether Tamakoma makes it into the selection for the expedition or not
Izumi: Match up-wise, there’s a high chanceyou’ll get Tamakoma next
Ninomiya: Who knows
Panel 2
Tsuji: As far as it goes, it seems there’sa tendencyTsuji: Where the less match ups you had in the past means the higher thepossibility of facing each otherTsuji: But there’s still a balance to be struck with the other teams too
B-rankTentative No.1 Ninomiya SquadAttackerTsuji Shinnosuke (17)
Panel 3
Ninomiya: Doesn’t matter who it is
Ninomiya: It’s just a matter of shootingthem down as usual
B-rankTentative No.1 Ninomiya Squad Captain‘No.1 Shooter’Ninomiya Masataka (20)
Panel 1
Izumi: Ehhhh~ Don’t you have any thoughtsabout this?
Izumi: You were more disparaging last time
Panel 2
Ninomiya: …what about you?
Ninomiya: Has your estimation of Tamakomachanged from last time?
Panel 4
Ninomiya:Do you think Tamakoma Second can win against you guys?
Panel 5
Izumi:As if
Izumi:There’s no way of that happening
Panel 6
Izumi: I suppose…
Panel 1
Izumi: If it’s the current Tamakoma Second
Izumi: It might get pretty interesting
A-rankNo.1 Tachikawa SquadShooterIzumi Kouhei (17)
Panel 2
Ninomiya: …right
Ninomiya: In the end, that’s how it is
Panel 3
UntilThe B-rank Rank Wars FinalRound 8
4More Days
1. I always enjoy noticeable character growth, and their last match didn't really show much of how Azuma squad's Attackers learned from their experience in the Invasion, so it's nice to see it being highlighted here. I really hope we get a double POV with both the expedition and what the ones left behind are doing because I'd love to see more of Azuma squad once they've dabbled more with sub-triggers since I doubt they’ll be going on the expedition (and the thing is, in another manga it'd probably cut straight to Azuma squad showing up later with new sub-triggers and a short flashback to let us know they started due to the results of this match, but because this is World Trigger it's seeded early in the story to be expanded on in the future)
2. As usual, there are some interesting parallels between Tamakoma and the other teams - this time both Osamu (and Yuuma's) protectiveness of Chika like Suzunari's protectiveness of Kuruma get used against them. In fact, Azuma in general acts a lot like Tamakoma squad has been up until now: creating a target Tamakoma has to react to (what happened to Arafune squad in R2), making his enemies think he's somewhere then popping up somewhere else (what happened to Akane in R3) etc etc
3. The thing is, Osamu's reasoning isn't even wrong necessarily, about the importance of Chika to their strategy. The problem is that this reasoning of Osamu's is really noticeable (to both Arashiyama and Inukai) and really obviously being used by Azuma. Guaranteeing a way for opponents to make Osamu act in a specific way is just asking for trouble (and that's basically Tamakoma's main strategy). Of course, Tamakoma also knows Azuma just as well, and at least Yuuma is always there making up for Osamu's actions.
4. Back on the subject of parallels, we also have Kitazoe and Hus and how their actions managed to benefit their team even as they bailout.
5. A good reminder from Azuma about making sure their trion can hold up to new triggers, since Koarai at 4 has one of the lowest (in fact, he's tied last of the Border characters we have trion values for, except for Osamu the exception of course), but if Kitora can be an A-rank Allrounder with that then I'm sure Koarai will be fine.
5. Also some nice parallels to Ninomiya and Izumi's first conversation in-story as well, with Ninomiya using the exact wording even.
6. In conclusion, is it just me or is Tsuji's jacket shiny...? Is this a Koma-san fashion disaster again, or just what Ashihara thinks happens with boys who can't talk to girls?

GabeNath Week day 3: Role Swap.

ONE
Gabriel ignored Nathalie's tears. He had to focus on his goal. Emilie was out there somewhere, and he would find her. This woman and her feelings were just a roadblock along the way. He would overcome that roadblock just like he had so many others. Nothing could stop him.
The crying ended quickly enough and they worked quietly until five pm came around.
"Show me how to access the lair," Nathalie said, powering down her computer.
"We usually keep working until-"
"I don't care," Nathalie said. "When your Nathalie is back she can make up the time we lose fixing your mistake. I'm sure she'd be glad to."
"You don't even know her," Gabriel said. Nathalie had been loyal to him for ages, who was this impostor to criticize one of the people on whom he most relied?
"She's working for a supervillain terrorist. I fight supervillain terrorists. Sounds like she's exactly the type of person I know."
"She's loyal," Gabriel said. "She's helpful and skilled. You are a single-minded, pushy woman who only seems to see things in black and white."
"I see shades of grey," she said. "However, supervillain terrorists fighting children clearly fall into the 'black' category."
"I never said they were children," he said.
"A four second search online filled in that bit of information you left out." She gestured for him to hurry up. "Lair. Now."
Gabriel sighed and showed her how to use the painting to access the secret tunnel. She called him dramatic again.
/*****/
TWO
Nathalie found herself walking in a small residential area. Half the houses seemed abandoned and the sidewalks and streets were in disrepair. She didn't get far before it dawned on her that she was living in the world she had seen in those videos of battles. If Ladybug was on the dark side, then there was no Lucky Charm to fix everything. She didn't see a single other person outside, no cars drove down the road. Nothing but a few houses with lights on gave any indication that there was life around her. It was eerie and soon enough she found herself turning back.
"I have nowhere else to go," she said when Adrien and Penny looked up as she entered the living room.
“I followed you,” Adrien blurted as she sat in the chair he had previously occupied. “It’s not exactly safe outside, and you’re new to things, and while most people around here like Nathalie and know she can take care of herself, I don’t know if you can take care of yourself, so… So I followed you until you turned back.”
“I’m sorry you had to go to the trouble,” Nathalie said. “I apologize for my… unnecessary display of emotion.”
“Wow,” Penny said shaking her head. “That time you sounded just like her.”
“Yeah,” Adrien said, shifting in his seat and staring at his knees.
“You saw her as your mother?” Nathalie asked. She shouldn’t have spoken, she knew that, but she had always had a weakness for Adrien. It wasn’t hard to picture being a parent to him instead of a vague occasional guardian figure, but to picture him seeing her that way? It didn’t compute.
(Because if it did, she might want it, and never stop wanting it.)
“See. Present tense,” he said. She nodded for him to continue. “She took care of everyone when Mama got sick, and after she died. I actually started calling her Mom before Dad even realized he was falling in love with her. Usually, I’m the last one to realize things.”
“My Adrien can be a bit oblivious as well. He still hasn’t caught on that my world’s Marinette likes him.” She allowed herself a small shake of her head at some of the obvious signs Adrien had missed.
Penny laughed. “This Adrien didn’t realize either for quite a while. But having to work together to fight for our lives and our people makes it harder to hide things like that.” She placed her hands on either side of her pregnant belly. “My little family is another example of that.”
“And Nathalie and Gabriel?” The words felt so wrong.
“They started dating a few months before the first attack.”
She nodded. “I don’t really know what to do now. I don’t plan to wait around for rescue, but I’m fairly sure I don’t know enough magic to even replicate what happened today, and I’m not the wartime strategist of which it sounds like you’re now in need. I’m used to following orders, not giving them.”
“What was your Gabriel working on?” Penny asked. She stood and beckoned the other two to follow her to the kitchen. “We have to start dinner, the crowd will arrive soon, and we’ll have to fill them in.”
“Magical power enhancement,” she said. She relaxed when she saw the well organized kitchen with charts on the cupboard doors outlining what meals were planned and what ingredients needed for each meal. She busied herself with preparing the stew while Adrien worked on the salad and Penny put a couple loaves of bread in the oven.
“We considered that, but it was too much risk,” Adrien said. He froze, knife poised above a tomato. “I didn’t mean… I’m sure you weren’t-”
“It was obviously too much risk, seeing as I am here and your mother is not. The Gabriel in my world is a fool, but I’ve been by his side a very long time.”
“So, what’s your superhero team like?” Penny asked. “You were surprised Ladybug and Chat Noir weren’t heroes, so I assume those two, plus Gabriel’s Hawkmoth. Do you have one?”
“One?” Nathalie asked. Her mind was racing through multiple pipelines of processing, but warning lights were already going off. These people thought she was on the side of the heroes. These people were fighting their world’s version of Hawkmoth. She was Hawkmoth’s (evil Hawkmoth’s) right-hand man, confidant, and coffee-fetcher. She couldn’t let them know. She had just said that she had nowhere else to go.
“A miraculous.”
“Me?” Nathalie asked, almost slicing her finger instead of the chicken she was adding to the stew. “No. Absolutely not.”
Adrien and Penny shared a look. She was getting the feeling there were secrets on both sides.
There was a knock at the door.
"Well, are you ready to introduce yourself to a lot of people that are going to be very confused?" Penny asked, setting down the last place setting on the large dining room table in the next room.
"I suppose it's necessary. My double seems to have led a much higher profile life than I."
"Everyone will be nice and want to help you," Adrien said.
That's exactly the problem, Nathalie thought. /*****/
ONE
"What do you mean 'there are no lab notes'?"
"What could that possibly mean other than the obvious?" Gabriel asked, resisting the urge to bang his head on the lab table in front of him.
"Fine, you didn't take lab notes. Don't tell me the secretary didn't."
"Don't call her that."
"Why not? With the way you try to scare me into submission, she can't be anything but a helpful robot to you."
"Nathalie Sancoeur is the most loyal, steadfast woman I have met in my life."
"Then where are her notes?"
Gabriel pinched the bridge of his nose, nudging his glasses out of the way. "Were I to guess, either in this room or in a locked folder on her tablet or phone."
"I haven't found her phone since I've been here so I have to assume that went with her," Nathalie said, pulling the tablet from the bag she had set against the wall. "Let's hope it's here."
"Her personal tablet," Gabriel said. "She would never use a company owned device for this."
Nathalie searched the bag again and found a second tablet. She was signed in and found the secret folder in a matter of seconds.
"You seem so dissimilar," Gabriel said. "And then you can access her tablet, protected by multiple passwords with no issues."
"I'm just lucky she didn't protect it with a finger scan." After a bit of searching, Nathalie sighed. "You idiot," she said, not even looking up. "This translation isn't complete. I can spot three mistranslations immediately. I need a fresh copy of the original text." She held out her hand like she expected him to place the original spell there immediately.
"Then go make a photocopy," Gabriel said.
She looked up at him finally. "Was I not clear? You caused this. I am doing you a favor by being your assistant during the day. The absolute least you can do to help clean up your own mess is to assist me in piecing back together what you did wrong. Now go get me a fresh copy, some coffee, and order us dinner."
Gabriel spluttered. Nathalie set the tablet down parallel to the edge of the workbench and stood. She grabbed Gabriel by the back of his collar and wrenched him backwards off his stool. She yanked hard enough to cut off his breathing for a moment.
"I'll put it another way," she said in his ear as he struggled to get his feet under him. "Assist me and I let you keep your miraculous."
She released him with a shove forward and he staggered, catching himself on the workbench.
Gabriel turned to face her and saw... nothing. No expression on her face. He opened his mouth, not sure what he was about to say and she raised her hand.
"Don't speak. Just go."
Gabriel left, fuming.
Nathalie had found the lab notes of the steps her doppelganger and Evil Gabriel had taken earlier that day. She sent them to the printer, planning to highlight and annotate them once she had a proper translation. She started taking notes and looking up references for translation. Finally, her multiple language degrees were getting use. She loved being the head strategist of the rebellion, but it had been a while since she'd had a puzzle like this to crack. She hated that she was away from the war, her people, her son, her family. She hated that she was staring in her husband's face and seeing just another Ladybug or Chat Noir. She hated so much about this situation, but a puzzle like this? It was the hunt for the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses all over again. The part where they had to dig and research and hunt down answers, anyway.
Gabriel returned with two mugs of coffee and muttered something about dinner being on the way. He had also brought the papers she had printed, so she elected to keep quiet instead of verbally berating him again.
"This is awful," she said of her sip of coffee. "How does your Nathalie take her coffee?"
"Oh, I brought cream and sugar if you wanted it," he said, pulling a few packets out of his pocket.
"You don't know how she takes her coffee?" she asked, dumping in creamer.
"I need to check on some things in the office," Gabriel said. "And dinner is probably only a minute or two away."
"That's a 'no'," she muttered, but absorbed herself in her work again.
In the office, Gabriel wondered if he should know the coffee order of the woman who spent sixty to a hundred hours a week with him.
/*****/
TWO
Some of the people who arrived for dinner figured out she wasn't Nathalie before dinner, some didn't notice anything amiss until she stood to introduce herself. She gave a summary of what had happened, letting them come to the conclusion that she and Gabriel were fighting for good as well.
"Will you stay here?" Sabine Cheng asked. "If not, we have a few places."
"Please stay," Adrien said, barely above a whisper.
"I'll stay then," she said.
"You're not a strategist, you said that," Mr. Kubdel said. "Will you wield the peacock, or will we need two replacements now?"
Nathalie turned to Adrien and Penny, who were cringing.
"We hadn't told her that part yet," Penny said.
"She was Paon," Nathalie said out loud as she realized it. She couldn't react, there were too many people. The thought of wielding a miraculous... it felt wrong. Besides, they would need an experienced fighter to participate in the battles she had seen.
"That's fine," Mr. Kubdel said. "It might actually be easier for me to find a pair together than to find someone compatible with you and the butterfly miraculous at once."
The dinner fell into a more normal meal after that, with pockets of conversation around the table. Nathalie appreciated that she wasn't required to say much for the rest of the night because she got to observe Adrien. It was a tight fit for so many people around one table, but Adrien stayed in physical contact with Marinette the whole meal. He smiled and laughed and talked to everyone and checked on Nathalie every few minutes.
This is the boy he was meant to be.
She decided to excuse herself from the rest of dinner.

you don’t have to send a link for parasocial relationships, i do study psychology after all! but i appreciate it (for those who don’t know please read!). i do agree that those sending any form of malicious intent to the mistranslator is just not acceptable, and also to the fact that we should be critical of out relationship/thoughts/feelings toward our idols. and i don’t think we’re able to judge people’s relationship with their idols, someone being clingy/attached to their idol doesn’t mean they’re not critical of their relationship. it’s really a mix of a person’s individual circumstance that we simply cannot judge.
i also understand that you’re not that active on the twitter side of the fandom, where most of fandom discourse often happen. but people were never mad at the translator for bringing the issue into light, they are mad for the gross mistrans and the things she added that weren’t there that just adds fuel to the flame. and how she apologized but decided to private her account for 2 weeks so the people who believed her mistrans never got to know it was false. it’s so easy to hound on people’s posts on twitter: fans who expressed relief for the clarification has been questioned, called an apologist, told to not be happy about the news, etc. i’m glad that tumblr allows you for a more ‘personal’ relationship with your idols, but not all of us can afford that when people were sending horrible things to us. the mistranslator shouldn’t be blamed for people’s gullibility, no, but she should have been responsible for the things she put out on the internet.
our opinions don’t conflict, i just hope that i could bring another perspective, mainly those who are active on twitter. i have moved on, and we should encourage this who haven’t to do so as well. but this did hurt a lot of people, some deeper than others, and i don’t think holding resentment for the original translator is fundamentally a bad thing. i keep in mind those who feels as though what once was a source of happiness for them has bern ruined, those who have been run off from the internet with hate for being critical of the original mistranslation, those who had their traumas resurface due to the mistranslation. hope you’re staying safe as well, aijee.
Entirely fair, anon. I agree with and understand all your points. I want to emphasize that my critiques are not widely-encompassing of Carats, only a subset and, in a slightly broader sense, the actions/words of some but not necessarily the fans themselves. I’m not undermining the trauma or hurt experienced, if that’s how I came off; I’m raising my eyebrows at the unnecessary cruelty, thoughtlessness of some responses, and quick disregard of victim stories by some fans in defense of the idols in question (the resentment towards the mistranslator was a given in my head, honestly, that I didn’t feel the need to repeat it).
Separately from the mistranslation, separately from concerns about Korea’s sociocultural system and poor handle of classroom relationships, my concern goes beyond the boys/fandom and towards those who dedicate themselves so much to these parasocial interactions that they’ve lost touch with reality and empathy for potential abuse victims. Within a fandom, there are pockets that exemplify the thin line between dedication to our faves and putting them on a pedestal.
What really grates me I think is Internet culture in general, how quickly people jump to conclusions and judge others for information that is trusted too quickly, how quickly malicious activity (like that of this mistranslator) can spread and how ingrained the lives/professions of idols are in a volatile environment.
II’m really sorry that you and other Carats have been subject to what sounds like awful behavior from others; that is NOT okay, and you all have been hurt from not only the mistranslator, but everyone who was quick to jump on the hate train. It might not mean much, but I’m a strong proponent of karma, and I hope these hate-spreaders take accountability and reflect. You all are very strong for being able to push through that shit while standing your ground in your social media spaces.
Another point I was trying to make previously was that processing the resentment and hurt is fully valid, but continuing to fuel it is not healthy. Again, I can only really speak for myself in saying that; it’s very easy for me to wallow in my anger and bitterness towards people who hurt me or my loved ones because there’s a self-validation in doing so. But it’s in gradually shifting my energy to rebuilding what’s been broken down that I and those loved ones have started finding peace. I practice the principle “What happened, happened. So what do I do next?” I understand that that doesn’t work for everyone. Grain of salt and all that.
Thank you for all the input. Despite the difficult topics at hand, it’s been a riveting conversation, especially with more input from what’s going on in the Twittersphere; there’s only so much I can see on my brief visits through my friends. On a slightly different note, I just wanted to say that I think it’s super cool that you’re studying psychology. It’s such an interesting subject! If I wasn’t so far into a different major by the time I took my first psych class, I probably would’ve majored in psychology as well. But it’s also a major that requires...so much...investment...at least at my uni lol.

1-2 Titan Symphony: ODM Gear
Again, apologies for the spam.
If you want to blacklist these, you can use either the tag #titan symphony for just this event, or #xdu event scripts for all these posts in general.
Reminder that these are copied straight from XD Unlimited itself, so any grammatical weirdness, mistranslations, and/or mischaracterizations are not my doing.
Levi: "We should try and avoid the Titans as much as we can. That'll give us the best chance of reaching the rift."
Levi: "In the event that we run into any, we'll do our best to run. If we can't, then we'll annihilate them."
Mikasa & Eren & Armin: "Yes, Sir!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "We're also heading to the rift. It would make sense to make our way there together."
Chris Yukine: "That's right. We should probably be able to make it there without running into any--"
Hibiki Tachibana: "Titan! There, behind that building!"
Chris Yukine: "I just had to jinx it!"
Levi: "Time to wipe it out. Let's go!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "Aaaaah!"
Armin: "So that's a Symphogear... Incredible! I've never seen anything like it!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "My attacks are connecting, but I can't reach its nape!"
Mikasa: "Leave it to me, I'll finish this!"
Chris Yukine: "That's that, then. Man, their gear sure is something. She managed to slice its nape like it was nothing."
Tsubasa Kazanari: "We three should perhaps weaken them first, and leave any finishing blows to the Scouts."
Levi: "Fine by me. Let's move out."
Eren: "Yes, Sir!"
Hibiki Tachibana: (That's such an efficient way of doing things...)
Hibiki Tachibana: (They said we can't battle with a half-hearted attitude. This kind of fighting must be part of their everyday lives...)
Tsubasa Kazanari: "Okay, our journey should be smooth sailing from here. The cliff is just across these plains."
Levi: "Plains... This could be troublesome."
Chris Yukine: "Troublesome?"
Armin: "Yeah, you see--"
Chris Yukine: "More of them?!"
Levi: "There's no use complaining. Let's just take them out."
Hibiki Tachibana: "We've got your back!"
Chris Yukine: "Agh! What happened to you guys? Is your gear broken or something?!"
Armin: "In order to use the ODM gear properly, we need a solid surface to anchor the wires in."
Armin: "These plains are completely flat, see? There's nothing to use as anchor points, so we can't move very well."
Tsubasa Kazanari: "I see. So even the ODM gear has a weakness."
Mikasa: "That doesn't mean we can't fight. We'll just have to anchor our wires onto the Titans themselves!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "Yeah! Nice job, guys!"
Armin: "We can't relax just yet! Even more Titans are coming!"
Levi: "Damn it. There are so many Titans coming to this world."
Chris Yukine: "They're gonna surround us if we don't do something!"
Levi: "We have to make it over into that cluster of trees. We'll need to fight our way there."
Eren: "......"
Mikasa: "What's the matter, Eren?"
Eren: "Lieutenant, we won't get anywhere like this. Please, give me permission to handle this."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Handle this? Permission?"
Levi: "This is quite the emergency, I suppose... Fine. Use your best judgement, Eren."
Eren: "Yes, Sir! I'll open a path for us!"
Mikasa: "Wait, Eren! There's too many of them!"
Eren: "What other choice do we have, Mikasa?"
Mikasa: "...I understand. I'll be right behind you."
Eren: "Okay! I'm coming for you, Titans!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "What--?! Did he just bite his own hand?!"
Chris Yukine: "What the--?!
Hibiki Tachibana: "He turned into a... A Titan?!"
Chris Yukine: "How's that even possible?!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "What incredible power. He moves differently from the other Titans, too."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Is he still thinking for himself in there?"
Armin: "Yes, he is. Without a doubt, that's Eren, all right!"
Levi: "Enough zoning out. Look, he's broken through! Now's our chance!"
Chris Yukine: "R-Roger that. We'll take care of any Titans who dare come near us!"
Armin: "Yes, we made it to safety!"
Mikasa: "No! Eren's..."
Armin: "He got knock down by the Titans!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "There are so many, he can barely move!"
Levi: "Rgh... He attracted way too many."
Mikasa: "Leave him alone!"
Mikasa: "Gah! There's so many of them... At this rate--"
Hibiki Tachibana: "Haaaaah!"
Armin: "She took out all the Titans around Eren?! What incredible power!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "He's too big! I can't move him! What are we gonna do--"
Chris Yukine: "Stop rushing into things without thinking, you idiot!"
Mikasa: "Leave it to me!"
Chris Yukine: "No,, stop! That's your friend!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "Wait, Chris[1]. She's cutting him out from inside, see?"
Levi: "We got him out safely. Let's retreat, quickly!"
Levi: "Has he come to yet?"
Mikasa: "Not yet..."
Armin: "It sure was a struggle getting through the plains with all those Titans around."
Levi: "You may be right. In any case, there's nothing we can do but retreat while Eren's in this state."
Chris Yukine: "You've got a lot of explaining to do when we get back."
Armin: "Of course. At least, we'll explain what we can..."
Armin: "Hm?"
Hibiki Tachibana: "What's wrong?"
Armin: "I thought I heard someone's voice..."
Boy[2]: "Help! Somebody, help me!"
Chris Yukine: "It's a survivor!"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "He's being followed by Titans!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "We have to help him!"
Mikasa: "Take this!"
Boy: D-Did you get rid of that T-Titan?! Man, you really saved me there..."
Hibiki Tachibana: "You're safe now. Are there any others with you?"
Boy: "No... The others, they all... The Titans..."
Hibiki Tachibana: "I see... In that case, come with us. You can take refuge in S.O.N.G. HQ."
Boy: Did you say S.O.N.G.?! That must mean..."
Hibiki Tachibana: "You know about S.O.N.G.? Actually, now that I think about it, I've seen those clothes somewhere before..."
Boy: "N-No, you're mistaken! I-It's not like I'm not some Alchemist or anything..."
Chris Yukine: "Oh, cut it out. This has to be the guy the islander was talking about, right?"
Tsubasa Kazanari: "It seems so. Let's get him to HQ."
Genjuro Kazanari: "Well done, you three. You were right. This is who the islander was talking about."
Chris Yukine: "Well, he pretty much gave it away himself."
Genjuro Kazanari: "It's very likely that he knows something about the root cause of all of this."
Genjuro Kazanari: "He's not saying much right now, but I'm sure I can get him to talk. You should all rest up until then."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Yes, Master."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Is he awake?"
Armin: "No, he's still asleep. He took quite a lot of damage, so he'll probably be out for a while."
Hibiki Tachibana: "I see..."
Mikasa: "You. Before I forget. Thank you for saving Eren."
Armin: "Yes, thank you so much. Things would have been much worse, had you not been there."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Don't mention it! Besides, you've done more than your fair share of helping us out, too!"
Levi: "I did initially suspect that you had ulterior motives, but..."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Does that mean you'll trust us?"
Levi: "I doubt that any of you have any sort of motive whatsoever, in fact, other than helping others."
Chris Yukine: "Hey, that's not fair! Don't lump me in with this dumbass!"
Hibiki Tachibana: "There you go again, being so humble."
Levi: "This isn't the time for pleasantries, who the hell was that "Alchemist" guy?"
Chris Yukine: "I'll explain, but in return, you have to tell us about that Titan transformation. Can you all do that?"
Armin: "No, it's just Eren. I'll explain what we know so far."
Tsubasa Kazanari: (We may not have achieved our objective, but it seems this mission wasn't a complete failure after all...)
Genjuro Kazanari: "I finally got a testimony out of our new friend."
Genjuro Kazanari: "He's an Alchemist from the Bavarian Illuminati. It looks like that were behind this incident."
Tsubasa Kazanari: "So they were connected to all of this after all."
Elfnein: "Indeed. Their goal was the subject of a Titan Island legend, the Bones of the Titan King."[3]
Chris Yukine" Huh? Those crusty old bones?"
Elfnein: "The islanders have long feared them as Titan bones, making them ideal for philosophical armament conversion."
Elfnein: "It appears the illuminati disseminated information on the web to artificially heighten the islanders' fear."
Tsubasa Kazanari: "So they were trying to create their own philosophical armament, then?"
Genjuro Kazanari: "Yes. And what's more, it looks like through the power of alchemy, that plan was a success."
Genjuro Kazanari: "They intended to harness the bones' potential as a philosophical armament to create Titans for military use."
Chris Yukine: "So just another stupid, annoying plan, then."
Elfnein: "However, while they succeeded in creating the armament itself, its power was far greater than predicted."
Elfnein: "Now, this is speculation on my part, but it would seem that this power was too much for them to control."
Elfnein: "I believe that loss of control resulted in our world linking up with a parallel world filled with Titans."
Levi: "You're talking about the rift."
Armin: "So that would be the reason why we got mixed up in this mess, then...”
Genjuro Kazanari: "Unfortunately, yes, that's the gist of it."
Genjuro Kazanari: "Our Alchemist friend survived by creating a barrier somehow, but he clearly couldn't keep it up any longer."
Levi: "How nice for him, keeping himself safe even after dragging strangers into his mess."
Levi: "Let's see how long he'll survive after I get my hands on him..."
Genjuro Kazanari: "I can't let you do that. You can rest assured that our judicial system won't go easy on him, though."
Levi: "Guh..."
Chris Yukine: "So that Colossal Titan really did come through the rift, then?"
Genjuro Kazanari: "Not quite, according to the testimony we procured..."
Genjuro Kazanari: "He said that one of the Titans that came through the rift managed to swallow the Bones of the Titan King."
Genjuro Kazanari: "Due to the bones' unbelievable power, it transformed into the Colossal Titan you saw before."
Tsubasa Kazanari: "What?! You're saying there's a philosophical armament inside that thing?!"
Levi: "It looked the same at first glance, but that Titan did seem different to the one back in our world."
Genjuro Kazanari: "In any case, we can gather from this that in order for the Scouts to return home, we have to fix this mess."
Genjuro Kazanari: "We need to destroy that Titan and recover the armament. Once the Scouts return home, we'll destroy it."
Genjuro Kazanari: "That'll be the order of business."
Hibiki Tachibana: "That means that one way or another, we're absolutely going to have to fight the Colossal Titan, right?"
Eren: "Let's start hunting that thing down, then."
Mikasa: "Eren, you're awake?"
Eren: "Let's go..."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Seriously? You can't even walk straight! You need to rest up and regain your strength!"
Eren: "This has nothing to do with you..."
Armin: "Eren, you're not going anywhere."
Eren: "Armin..."
Mikasa: "Armin's right. Even if you did go, how far do you think you'd get?"
Levi: "It'll be nightfall before long, too. That'll make fighting unnecessarily difficult."
Eren: "......"
Genjuro Kazanari: "Why not rest here for the night? We have plenty of food and places to sleep."
Armin: "That's very generous of you."
Hibiki Tachibana: "Okay then, I'll show you to the cafeteria. I'm dying for some food right about now!"
Notes:
[1] Sometimes the English version inserts other characters' names and goes with the wrong form of address. Tsubasa refers to most characters by their last names, with a few exceptions like Kanade or Maria, and therefore always refers to Chris as "Yukine"
[2] Original text said 男性 which technically could be used for boy, but should have been translated as “man” since the person in question is an adult. One can only assume the translator didn’t have that context and chose the wrong meaning.
