Full disclaimer, I have to read any of the fics written for Shockwave and the kids yet as I've been busy and off Tumblr for a bit for my own mental health lol
But I recently saw a photo of an abandoned carousel in some underground area filled with puddles and it reminded me of that one deleted scene from Detroit: Become Human where the Jerry's make a broken carousel work again for Alice and they all just watched her happily play on it as the world around them crumbled.
And, with that thought, it also reminded me of Shockwave and the kids and I simply HAD to write a small drabble fic of it. Sorry if it isn't accurate for the characters or the story already made, but I hope it's enjoyed regardless :3
And, I hope, with all the angst going on, this fluffy story will satisfy yall a bit XD
[This is the post I saw that inspired me to write this, if anyone wants a visual of the place: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGog_W_vDiR/?igsh=b3FsYm50enJhM3ln ]

As the days went by, the situation they all found themselves in was slowly starting to get far too real. It was fun, at first, running around abandoned buildings and scavenging for whatever they could find, spending time with their newly acquired aquatic dad friend who kept them safe and well fed.
But then things started to show up and it scared them. Shockwave tried to avoid the areas with the most floating bodies, the children having seen enough of that (and he hoped they hadn't seen any they would recognise), but every now and then something would float up and startle them. Other times they'd run into bigger problems while scavenging and they had far too many close calls for Shockwave's liking.
They tend to keep themselves entertained, for the most part. Shockwave only occasionally indulged. But, usually, he could simply gently float on the surface of the water and let the kids tire themselves out. However, they've become more quiet lately.
It was hard to tell what caused it. Could be a myriad of things, as listed before, maybe it was finally starting to dawn on them how the situation was far from ideal. Maybe it was the conversation they had with that Orca - Jazz, was it? Shockwave couldn't tell, and it bothered him.
He missed their lively chatter (it still happened, but few and far between). A part of him was starting to wonder if the humans who called him out on the fact that this wasn't normal behaviour for human children were right, a small pang of regret reaching the back of his mind.
But he shook those thoughts away. Now wasn't the time. Nothing about their situation was normal anyway, he was already providing more than enough for them to survive this cruel world.
Shockwave was aggressively pulled out of his drifting thoughts by an ear piercing screech that immediately put him on high alert.
“Guys! Guys! Look!” He heard Skids say. Turning to look at him, he followed where the boy was pointing at.
It looked to be some kind of fair or theme part, it was a little hard to tell. Half of it was submerged, but there were some areas in which the water had receded. Shockwave relaxed once he deemed the situation safe, but still gave a small scrutinising glare at Skids for causing unnecessary concern - which went, of course, completely ignored.
“Oh wow, it looks pretty banged up, huh?” Tc noted, crawling closer to the edge of Shockwave's back to get a better look.
“But there might still be some things left over. You know how much they tend to sell in these places? And now we can just snag them!” Warp argued, already getting excited at the thought.
“Do we really need more useless things to carry around?” Trailbreaker argued, the bag he carried strangely heavier on his back.
“There are other things we could do there.” Skids quickly chimed in. “We could check out some of the games they have.”
“Would there be any still working?”
“Carnival games easy to fix, Soundwave up to the task.”
They all turned to look at Soundwave, seemingly to silently fall into an agreement.
Warp turned to face Shockwave, clasping his hands together as he pleaded. “Can we go there? Pretty pleaaaase?” Before he could even answer, the others had joined them.
He wasn't going to say no. This was the exact type of fun distraction they needed, maybe it would help them go back to their usual, energetic selves. So the theatrics were unnecessary. Still, he couldn't help the small amusement it brought him. He pretended to think it over, as if he didn't already have their answer.
“Hmm, I don't know…”
Those simple words were enough to make them all Start to plead harder, making their eyes as big as possible, throwing promises he knew they'd never actually follow through.
That broke the façade he was trying to play up, causing him to laugh. “Alright, alright. We can go.” The kids erupted into celebratory cheers, hugging each other and jumping on Shockwave's back. “But don't stray so far where I can't reach you, okay?”
They all nodded, but he only had trust in some of them to actually obey his orders.
Regardless, he swam over to the abandoned park and waited until they had slid off of him before crawling over onto land. The ground was still pretty wet, so it made it easier for him to slide around and follow them, keeping himself to the more deeper puddles when possible.
He watched as they all went to different directions with their own, small group. Tc and Warp, always tied to the hip, ran over to some of the stands that still had some prizes hanging. Windcharger and Trailbreaker followed Damus as he ran to play some of the games that didn't require power to work. And Skids and Soundwave went
Where did they go?
Panic immediately followed the realisation. Shockwave stood up straighter and began to spin his head around in search of the two missing kids. The others didn't seem to have noticed their absence, too enthralled in their own activity.
He was about to start calling when he heard a familiar boisterous voice call from not too far. “Guys! Over here! Come see what me and Soundwave just discovered!”
Immediately, all of the attention was on Skids who had a smile so wide Shockwave was worried he'd hurt himself with it. The others looked at each other briefly before making their way over, Damus hesitating a bit before putting down the fishing rod he held and following the rest.
Shockwave did so as well, to the best of his abilities anyway. The further they went, the tighter the space became and less water reached the surface for him to easily slide around. He wanted to voice his complaint of them going too far, like he had explicitly told them not to before coming here (and really, he thought Warp would have disobeyed first before Soundwave. Skids made sense, but him?) But before he could even think of what to say, Skids noticed his struggle and seemed to remember something.
“Oh, right! Almost forgot.” He jogged over to the mer shark and gently grabbed at one of his fingers to guide him elsewhere. “There's an opening that takes you directly to the area we found. You have to swim underneath some rubble, but it should fit you.”
The boy took him to some dilapidated attraction of the park, it was too broken to tell what it used to be, but it did create an opening that allowed Shockwave to fit through perfectly fine. “Just swim straight ahead and it should take you to the area, we'll meet you there.”
Immediately, Shockwave didn't like that idea, and he didn't need to voice his thoughts for the teen to catch on, his glare doing the job just fine. “It'll be fine, don't worry! It's not that far. Less than a minute, probably less than a second for you since you're so big you'll just have to slide in and out. Besides, there's nothing here, the place is completely barren.”
Shockwave was still unconvinced.
Skids took to pleading. “Please! It'll be quick, I promise you. And worth it too! It's the exact thing we've been needing, and Soundwave put a lot of work on it. I know you don't like leaving us alone for even a second, but give it a chance?”
They stared at each other for a moment, Skids making his eyes as wide and innocent as possible and Shockwave hoping the stubborn teen would dispel this idea with his glare alone.
In the end, Skids guppy eyes were far too powerful even for a great shak such as Shockwave. And the kid was right, wasn't this what he wanted for them to begin with?
He let out a heavy sigh of defeat and reluctantly agreed to it. “Fine. I trust you, but if anything shows up–”
“We don't engage with it and call for you, yes, I know. Now go! Soundwave is waiting!” Skids ushered Shockwave to submerge himself into the large opening with the wave of his hands and only joined back with the others once he could no longer see the large mer.
One relief Shockwave had was that the tunnel formed was large enough that he could easily turn around and pop back out if he heard any of the kids in danger, though it also lacked any proper escape for him as it only had one direction for him to go. Straight ahead or backwards.
But Skids was right in saying the trip was short, he could already hear the muffled voices of his children. Soon enough, he found himself resurfacing, the lively chatter being the first thing his senses picked up on.
When the children heard the splash of water, they all turned to look towards the source of the noise, their excitement almost blindingly radiat in contrast to the dark, murky room they found themselves in.
The place was closed off by fallen buildings that created a sort of cave around them, plenty of fauna already making its home here. It was fairly empty as well, save for the large, round attraction in the middle of the room. It had horses stuck to poles inside it, a dim pink and gold decorating the whole thing, the paintings that littered it had long since faded and it was hard to tell what it once was.
“Okay, you're here, good.” Skids turned to Soundwave, who was standing next to what looked to be a control panel. “Soundwave, would you do us the honours?”
The other teen nodded, bending down to start pulling at some wires in place of pressing the buttons offered. Warp scoffed, crossing his arms and looking skeptically at his friend. “There's no power here, how in the world are you going to get it to work? I swear, if you brought us all the way here for nothing I–”
Before he could finish his sentence, a blast of music and light echoed loudly around the empty space, causing everyone to flinch back and cover their ears. Shockwave nervously looked around, worried that the loud noise might have attracted some unwanted attention. Once the shock faded, Skids ran up to Soundwave and gestured proudly at the now working carousel.
“Ta-da!”
“Wh…how is this possible!?” Warp questioned, looking at Soundwave for answers, to not only be ignored, but shoved around by the other kids who ran towards the attraction. “Seriously?! Is no one else even a little bit concerned on how this is possible?”
Tc placed a hand over his shoulder, bringing his attention to him. “Warp, just enjoy the miracle. When are we going to get another chance like this?”
Warp could only grumble. Tc was right, they wouldn't, not for a long time. That didn't mean he had to accept it though.
Shockwave watched as they all walked over and picked their favourite horse, Tc and Skids fighting over the same blue one before Trailbreaker broke their fight up and offered his to Tc, walking up to help Damus up and sit with him instead. Shockwave observed the way Soundwave continued to pick at the control panel and looked up at the other children, waiting for their confirmation that they were ready before clicking something and closing the panel. As soon as he did that, the carousel began to slowly move, the horses bobbing up and down in gentle motions, causing the kids to excitedly cheer.
Soundwave stepped on the moving platform while it was still picking up speed and sat on a random horse near Windcharger. Although not as vocal as the others, he was clearly enjoying it.
Shockwave couldn't quite get what was so entertaining about the thing. It was slow, even after it picked up some speed, and the music was painful to the ears. But that didn't quite matter, did it? They were happy, and they were having fun.
It clearly was something they knew about before the tsunami, before their civilization fell apart. A simple joy of life that they missed.
And, in a world dimmed by tragedy and destruction, where at every corner something threatens their very existence, isn't that all they could ask for?
So, in a small moment of peace, Shockwave let himself relax. He bent forward and rested his chin over his crossed arms and watched as his children sang along with the screechy music, bouncing on their fake horses and pretending they were in some high chase in their little imaginary world.
In this dreary reality, even the artificial light of a broken past could make it all worth it.

an eddie munson christmas (rockstar eddie x reader) 2.2k / pure festive fluff
you can see all rockstar eddie x reader stories and lore at #enam3ls rockstar eddie or the masterlist! and check out my new series love, lola
1989 had begun, as every year had, with you grateful that the festive season was over. A time for family and traditions just a torturous reminder of your own loneliness, of everything you longed for. Growing up, Christmas had been treated like any other day. Parents occupied with work or themselves, or basically anything that wasn't you; leaving you to fend for yourself. Once you'd moved out, Christmas Day was spent eating takeout and living vicariously through movies. Eventually you met Marissa, who was Jewish and whilst you still didnt get to spend Christmas the way others did, you at least had someone to spend the day with.
Now as '89 winded down you were giddy at the prospect of a real Christmas. As if the universe had been compensating you for twenty odd years of miserable holidays, it gifted you Eddie Munson. Knowing about how the season had always been for you til now, Eddie insisted on making Christmas a month long occasion. Although you'd both grown up with shitty parents, Eddie's saving grace had been Wayne. Money being tight only encouraging the pair to create more fun traditions. And this year you were privy to them.
There wasn't a Christmas market in New York you hadn't visited. Not a hot chocolate or Belgian waffle you hadn't sampled. Every infamous display in the city was admired. Your ice skating virginity taken outside Rockefeller Centre. Eddie Munson, your metal head and famous rockstar boyfriend had orchestrated your own Hallmark movie experience. He even found somewhere you could cut down your own tree. For the first time you now owned a box to be stored away labelled Christmas Decorations. Filled with ornaments collected from your festive adventures. Finally, you were having Christmas.
Yet you felt bad. Knowing Eddie would usually be spending the day with Wayne and his friends. All of them together in their found family. After surviving '86 they'd formed a new tradition, spending Christmas all together with dinner at Joyce and Hopper's. But he'd insisted that if this was your first real Christmas, he wanted you to have your own and not be dragged along with his plans. You tried to protest, especially because you loved Wayne and all of his Hawkins friends but Eddie was adamant.
It was Christmas Eve morning, the city air frosty causing Eddie to be bundled up tightly in the bedsheets - a large man able to curl up surprisingly small. It took several kisses to his pink cheeks to wake him up from a heavy sleep. Your hand pushing back his wild fringe as his sleep filled eyes took a moment to adjust.
'Happy Christmas Eve, Y/N,' he croaked. Gazing at you with a sleepy smile you immediately had to kiss. He chuckled as he pulled away and finally noticed the reason for his awakening. A tray placed on the bed with a pile of pancakes, drenched in his favourite topics.
'What's this?' he queried
'Christmas Eve breakfast,' you beamed.
Eddie chuckled, shuffling over so he could pull you down to sit next to him on the bed. Kissing your cheek he laughed,
'Sweetheart, that's not a thing but thank you.'
You pull the tray onto his lap, the pair of you propped up by pillows with Eddie's arm wrapped around your shoulders. Perched between the plate and a glass is an envelope, you subtly cough and direct his gaze towards it.
'Well it is now. Plus, you have to open your present today actually.'
You're certain you're grinning like a maniac, legs jiggling in anticipation. Eddie looks at you suspiciously before taking the envelope and opening it. Once its contents is revealed he gasps, you can see from his profile that his jaw had dropped. It's an excellent feeling, rendering someone who always has something to say, speechless.
'I can't believe you...'
Eddie looks at you, brown eyes glittering with unshed tears. His head shakes.
'Y/N... you didn't have to do this.'
You take his hand into your own, bringing it to your lips to place a kiss to his rough knuckles. He melts at your touch, placing his present down carefully to embrace you. Two flight tickets to Indiana for today.
'The only Christmas I want is yours, Eds. With the people you love because I love you.'
He cradles your face in his hands, foreheads pressed together.
'Thank you... so much. This is the best present. You're going to love it, okay? I love you.'
Wayne is there waiting at arrivals to drive you to Hawkins. You'd already clued him in on your plan, not wanting him to think for a moment you would keep his boy away from him. Upon seeing him, Eddie runs through the hall and embracing his uncle with full force. You smiled, pleased you'd managed to recreate this Hallmark movie moment for Eddie. You're embraced too by Wayne as Eddie piles your luggage into the truck.
'Thank you for doing this hon, means a lot,' he whispers to you.
'Anytime Wayne, I couldn't let him miss out. Not after Ed's has exposed me to all your Christmas traditions,' you grin.
Wayne gets in the drivers seat and flashes you one of his great rare smiles.
'Well I got the feelin' you'll always be part of them traditions now.'
His reply leaves you dumbfounded and red in the face. The thought of being part of their family encourages a dream that after less than a year of dating, you wanted to ignore for now.
On the journey, Eddie radiated a giddy energy. His leg bounced incessantly causing you and Wayne to send each other knowing smirks through the rear view mirror. But Wayne's glee went beyond what you thought. The older man was overwhelmed seeing someone love his boy for who he was and understand the parts Eddie rarely shared at all. Once the truck pulled up outside Joyce and Hopper's house, Eddie was running full pelt down the path and up the steps. Ringed fist hammering on the door. As you and Wayne made your way behind him, you heard his friends before you saw them. Screams and cheers at Eddie's surprise arrival. It never failed to make you smile, seeing how loved he was by his friends.
The house was bursting at the seams with guests. Crammed full of these people who'd found each other in the darkest of times and patch-worked themselves into a family. Sure fire evidence when compared to your own family that real family and love isn't bound by blood. One of the greatest parts of being with Eddie was he came with this friendship group. You'd known it on the night you met him, when they'd taken you in before you had ever heard the name Eddie Munson. Each time you met them since they'd made you feel as if there hadn't been a time you weren't a part of the team. Heartfelt looks and warm hugs were given to you as Eddie proudly told each person how you'd made sure he came. Every member thrilled they were continuously being proved right in pushing you and Eddie together ten months ago.
Tables were crammed together with a mishmash of chairs to ensure everyone was seated. The group cheering as Joyce produced a humongous turkey and Hopper carved away. Your sides ached from laughing hearing everyone's tales and latest adventures. The kids had all started college this autumn and were filling you in. Dustin had managed to start several small fires, Max already with a growing list of mortal enemies on campus and Lucas had become somewhat infamous for being the most athletic nerd the college had ever seen.
Eddie watched as you wiped away tears of laughter from Dustin's jokes, let El win the prize in the cracker, offer Steve girl help and made sure Wayne's plate was full of his favourites. He can't believe he found you and you accepted every aspect of his life. In awe at how you loved everyone he loved, treated his family as your own. Throughout the evening he was unable to stop himself from stealing your affections. Ensuring his leg hooked with yours as you ate, held your hand under the table between courses and pulled you onto his lap when everyone resigned to the sofas. As if he wasn't certain before, he was now that this is where you belonged. You were fated to be with him, to be a part of his mismatched family.
When you finally go back to Eddie's house it's no longer Christmas Day. As soon as the front door is open, your weary body heads straight towards the stairs until you're tugged back.
'Where do you think you're going, sweetheart?' Eddie grins.
'Bed, baby. S'late!'
Eddie just tuts and shakes his head.
'But I haven't even given you my gift!' he protests. Dragging you by the hand to the living room where he plops the pair of you down onto the sofa. In all honesty, the thought that Eddie would also be getting you a gift hadn't crossed your mind. Receiving presents was still a fairly alien concept. The entire month of festivities as well as the day had been gift enough. Eddie rummages in his bag, pulling out a small flat box and carefully placing it on your lap. He chews at his plush lip anxiously, fingers drumming on his thigh in anticipation. Eddie had been fretting for months about what to get you.
'What is the perfect gift for the perfect girl,' he'd wailed down the phone to Steve, Dustin, Robin and Wayne. All of whom had insisted you'd love a rock if it came from him, which wasn't wrong.
A clear giveaway at Eddie's nerves is his immediate choice of babbling to fill the silence as you carefully undo the bow.
'It's okay if you don't like it... I just thought... well maybe you will like it... I hope... or not... it doesn't matter, honestly... don't worry... I can get you something else... I-'
You cut his rambling off with a kiss, it had taken you a month to learn this was the only way to ease his brain.
'Eddie, there's more chance of us spontaneously combusting this instant than of me not liking anything you ever got me.'
Your smile eases Eddie instantly and he nods, watching as you lift the lid of the box.
In the same way Eddie was at your present to him, you're left speechless. Your eyes darting between him and the gift, tears welling as you struggle for words. Inside lies a guitar pick on a chain, like Eddie's however this pick is gold metal as is the chain.
'Eddie...' you're only able to get out a whisper. Your fingers toy delicately with the charm. Eddie reaches for it and carefully takes out of the box, letting you see it closer.
'This is thee pick. The one I used at the homecoming gig at The Hideout. When I first met you. Kept it safe ever since, figured it was lucky. Then I finally thought of something to do with it. Had it casted in gold so it's a lil prettier and will last...'
He's chewing the inside of his cheek, desperate for you to say something.
'It was lucky,' you finally sob, 'if it meant I met you then it's lucky... this is the most thoughtful gift I've ever gotten.'
His face softens, relieved you love it. You wipe away the tears that won't stop flowing.
'Please could you put it on for me Eds?'
Eddie guides you so your back faces him. Carefully twisting your hair out the way, he brings the necklace round your front, his fingers skimming your collarbones as he delicately places the necklace before clasping it. You turn back towards him so he can see. You're grinning for the hundredth time that night as you pick up the charm to admire it. It's surface sparkling with the reflection of Christmas lights. Eddie leans forward and stills your hand, he places a kiss onto the pick then on your chest, just over your heart where it hangs.
'Luckiest pick, luckiest man in the world, sweetheart,' he coos.
You embrace him now, hands pushing his curls back so you can take in his beautiful face.
'I'm lucky, Eds. My first Christmas and it's with you. Without my necklace, that would've been the best gift I could've had. I love you so much.'
The pair of you are sniffling messes at this point. Drunk from this evening but also the love you feel for each other.
'I love you too. You're never going to have a shitty Christmas again, I promise.'
He links his pinky with yours before tugging you up to your feet.
'Now let's go to bed. I think I might have another present for you.'
The smirk on Eddie's face tells you everything you need to know. You run off up the stairs, leaving him chasing after you. You're determined to give him his other present first.
Once you return to New York and you dismantle your decorations in the apartment you shared, your cheeks ached from smiling. From thinking how for the first time ever, you didn't want Christmas to end. But mainly, from seeing your decorations merge with his own into the packing boxes and you hoped they'd always stay that way; entangled together.

child reader (Pt.4)
tommy x child!reader || whys he here??
someone comes to the tundra to fight the blade (also some cute fluff)
pt1 pt 2 pt3 pt4 pt5
masterlist
this took so long lmao, part 5 coming soon
This story will diverge from the cannon. Since i cant remember it well im just gonna do my own thing.
------
The three of them, techno tommy and little (y/n), lived together peacefully for a bit. Techno and tommy would occasionally spar and commit minor terrorism, while (y/n) got to play with tommy and uncle techno.
(y/n) has grown a bit sense they had arrived there, being a happy kid like they should be.
On calm nights, techno would read to the little kid, stories of gods who ruled over the lands. Stories of himself in his times of adventure. They enjoyed all his stories, for they held a sort of unreachable curiosity that they loved oh so much.
“Im not reading you a story.” techno says. Sitting in his usual arm chair. He had come back from the nether not long before, just wanting to rest after a long day of fighting withers. He didnt expect the kid to want to hang out with him. “Pwease uncle tech!” they said. He shook his head. “I said no.” (y/n) huffed, getting off the arm of the chair, walking to the pile of books that stood in the coroner of the room.
They looked through it, trying to find the one they wanted. Once they did, they let out a happy ‘aha!’ and stumbled to the grumpy piglin, book in hand. “This one this one! Pleaaaase!!” they said. Showing techno the book. He examined it, realizing that it was the story about himself that philza had given to him as a joke gift. His eyes widened. ‘Why would the brat wanna read about me?’ he pondered. He just sighed, gently grabbing the book from the small hands it was being held in. “Fine, fine, I'll read you the story.”
(y/n) smiled, climbing up to sit on the piglins lap, wanting to try and read the book along with him. He huffed, not really agreeing to them sitting on him. None the less he opened the book, reading the unfinished tale to the child sitting before him.
“Once centuries ago, there was a young lad cursed to hear ungodly voices…”
Those were nights (y/n) enjoyed the most. They couldn't read, but having techno read to them was much better than reading a book all alone.
On most days Tommy would play with (y/n) outside. Neither of them got bored of the snow, being used to the sunny weather that was logstedshire. It was a nice change of pace that (y/n) enjoyed.
The two of them usually had snow ball fights, or tried to build towers and mini houses out of the snow. Tommy would build them snowmen, ones that looked like the people they knew. Others were sometimes ones they hadn't seen before, that Tommy would tell stories of when they would go to bed.
“Papa look!” tommy turned to his kid, who was happily standing next to a snow version of himself. It was small and barely looked like himself, but he easily recognized it. He came up to the small child, picking them up happily. “That's me!? It's amazing little (f/i)! You did so well!!” he said, ruffling the young ones hair. They giggled at the action.
“Wanna see mine?” (y/n) nodded. He walked over to the snowman he had built, showing them to his kid.
They looked familiar, (y/n) thought. These were the people in the storys (y/n) was told, the man with words of wisdom and guitar playing skills that calmed every citizen, who had tragically died in their last battle. The boy who was by papas side, who loved bees and everyone he knew. The young baker who had a kind heart and a smile that could put anyone at ease. Jack manifold.
Tommy spemnt a very long time creating this, purely so he could show (y/n) his old friends at least once. “Whos that one??” (y/n) asked, pointing to the the fox looking one, standing tall next to the leader, wilbur. “That's fundy. He didn't do much in the war, but he was an amazing fighter, and also a furry.`` Tommy replied, setting the child down. They ran up to the snowman. “Furry furry furry!!” they chanted, making the young boy laugh. “Yes furry!”
Most days now were spent with all three of them playing games inside till the late hours. After (y/n) had gotten sick from being outside so much, Tommy decided to just stay inside the warm cabin. They would bug techno alot, but he enjoyed the company some days. It was better than staying inside alone with an enderman who didn't really like him.
Today however, was different. For they had an unexpecting visitor who was very friendly.
--
Techno was making breakfast, as usual. He had learned that if he didnt, neither of the innits would eat till dinner when their bodys couldn't handle it anymore. It wasn't good for a young baby like that. Not that techno cared tho.
He was putting the dirty pots and pans in the sink, knowing he'd try and force Tommy to do it later. He started to put the food onto plates when he heard shouting coming from outside. "TECHNOBLADE GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE!!!"
Techno stops for a second. No one could possibly have the balls to fight him, let alone twice. Technoblade put the stuff in his hands down, walking over to the window to try and see who was out there. As he thought, it was none other than Quackity trying to pick a fight with him once more.
"I CAN SEE YOU PIGMAN! COME OUT HERE AND GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!!!" The duck man was actually prepared this time, with enchanted netherite armor and an axe to go with it. It seemed he upped his game sense last time.
Techno chuckled, going upstairs to grab his things real fast. There's no way someone can try and beat technoblade like that. He came back down to see Quackity opening his door. "Heh!? Why are you inside my house!?" Quackity stood there, axe gripped tightly. Techno reached the floor, grabbing his sword. "Why can't I be in your house techno? Hiding something?"
Ah shit he's onto us
Kill him
Haha he looks funny
Techno shook his head. "Just thought you'd play fair duck man. That's what you government people love to try and do." Quackity stepped forward. "Why would I play fair with the man whos supposed to be dead? This has been a long time coming," Quackity readied his axe, "get ready blade, cause i'm finally killing you." Techno readied his sword as well. "I'd like to see you try."
Just as they said this, someone came up from the floorboards. "*yawn* techno are you done with breakfast yet- HOLY FUCK QUACKITY!?" a tired Tommy says, holding a nearly sleeping (y/n). The two men turn to Tommy, seeing him and his child. "Oh? So this is what you were hiding. Haven't seen you sense the exile!" Quackity says, getting closer. Tommy got up from the ladder, shrinking behind technoblade, trying to protect his kid.
"What are you doing here big q?" Tommy says, hiding his kid. “I could ask you the same thing. What's that you've got there? Technos kid or something?”
“Well no-” “quackity leave them alone.” techno cuts off tommy, moving more so in front of him. He cant let the baby die, he knows phil would pumble him if he does. “This is between you and me quackity. Leave them alone.” quackity shook his head, pointing his axe at tommy. “Anyone alined with you is an enemy of mine. Even if he's an old friend.” quackity lunged at techno, who blocked the attack swiftly. Quackity tried to get around the man, so he could grab the child from tommys arms. (y/n) was now awake however, and they weren't very happy.
“Papa?” they ask, realizing there was an axe lunging towards them. Quackity got around the blade, and was already trying to get to them. Tommy noticed the axe coming their way, completely ready to take the hit for his kid.
Techno blocked the attack however. “Tommy get them to safety! I can handle this.” tommy nodded, running as quackity and techno dueld. Wuackity tried to run after tommy, but techno blocked him. “Not interesting enough for you q?” he smirks, swinging his sword at the duck man. Quackity blocks, scolding. “You're really full of yourself aren't you?”
Tommy ran outside, running to the only place he knew big q wouldn't find them, (y/n)s old hut. He ran and ran for so long, it had reached past mid day when he reached the small home he had made so many months prier. He sighed, closing the door behind him. (y/n) had long since woken up, and was very agitated. They had not eaten yet and it's been hours. “Shit shit sorry (y/n).'' Tommy says, laying the child in their old bed. He looked around the old home for anything he had left behind. He found some stuff, but he still had to go out to get food.
When he was done, he quickly fed the crying child. “I'm sorry kiddo, I didn't think this would happen. I didn't think quackity would wanna harm you. Sh shhh im sorry.” he picks up the crying child, kinda like how they first met. A crying (y/n) and a terrified tommy.
“Pappa- '' Tommy cuts them off, shushing them. “Just rest, Just rest…” the kid nodded, calming down slightly.
The two of them stayed like that till the sun rose the next day.
The next day Tommy got a message on his communicator by techno. Apparently quackity had won the fight, having threatened to chase after them and kill them. Techno begrudgingly went to get executed a second time. Thankfully he lived however, thanks to ranboo and tubbo stopping it. The two of them were currently at the blades house.
Tommy didnt wanna deal with seeing tubbo, but he knew he couldn't stay out here for more than an hour. He sighed. “Hey (y/n), how would you like it if you might get to meet new friends?” (y/n) looked at him, smiling. “Yeah new friends!!” he smiled, picking up the excited child. “Let's go back to uncle technos!” “uncle techy!!!” Tommy and (y/n) laughed. Tommy got ready and left for the tundra.
Hopefully tubbo wouldn't be there when he got there.

Cuddles for a Cure
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Summary: Tom notices how off Y/N’s been lately. Lucky for him he’s got the cure.
A/N: Its been awhile! Enjoy all the fluffiness! Christmas Admirers is still in the works, but its coming I promise!!!
Tumblr media
“Mate, is everything okay with Y/N?” Harry whispered to his older brother, who was also watching the poor girl, pack her work away without a word. “She looks cross.”
“I dont blame her. She worked 14 hours straight today and worked late last night. The exhaustion must be getting to her.” Tom’s eyes didnt move from Y/N as she slowly came to meet then in the kitchen where they waited to have dinner with her.
“Oh.” She said softly with a slight frown on her face. “You guys didnt have to wait for me to eat.”
“And let you eat alone? No way!” Tom said to which Harry nodded in agreement. “You’ve been sitting in solitude all day. You need the company.”
Y/N simply smiled as she took her seat and the three ate engaging in small conversation. A few laughs were shared here and there, but Y/N was being a tough nut to crack. Her mind, staring blankly into space as she thought about all the things that were bothering her. Work was exhausting, her stomach cramps were being a complete pain in the ass, and she just felt annoyed with everything.
“Hey.” Tom called out sweetly as he gently caressed the side of her face. He looked deep into her eyes, saddened by her expression. “Are you okay, darling? Is something bothering you?”
“No, just tired I think.” She murmured. “Its been a long day.”
“I know baby. Go upstairs and rest after you’re done eating. Harry and I will take care of the dishes and wash up.” He smiles, leaving as kiss on her forehead. “Ill be up there soon.”
As Y/N left, Harry, who was silently watching the interaction, took a bite of his food smirking at his older brother.
“What?” Tom questioned with unamusement.
“Im a bit tired too, Tommy.” Harry replied in his baby voice. “Will you take care of my dishes while I go up and rest?”
“Piss off Harry.” Tom chuckles as he grabs the dishes. “Seriously I wonder what’s bothering her? She usually isnt like this even on bad days.”
“I dont know mate. Maybe its her time of month or something.”
Harry had a point to make it a logical explanation for her sour mood. Tom quickly went to grab some chocolate, a heating bag, and some medication just in case. If it was Y/N’s period, he wanted to be prepared. It’s a good think his mum always nagged him about these things since he started dating Y/N.
“You might be right. Im gonna check on her. Thanks mate.” Tom said rather quickly as he rushed up the stairs.
“Oi wait what about the bloody dish— Whipped.” Harry shook his head as he went to help clean up the dinner mess.
Tom made his way to Y/N, opening the door to see her frowning as she stared at her phone. “Stupid. Stupid.” She grumbles, completely focused on her screen.
“Thought you wanted to sleep.” He chuckles lightly.
Y/N turned around to face him with a slight smile. “Forgot I cant sleep without you.”
Even when she was on her bad days, Y/N never failed to make Tom feel fuzzy inside. “You’re adorable. How...How are you feeling?”
“Still meh. I think I might be on my period, but it’s weird because the symptoms never really affect me. Now, it’s just so bad.”
Tom frowns at her discomfort for a moment, but smiles as he shows Y/N all the stuff that he got. “I had a feeling you were...well Harry did but I brought all the stuff.” He laughed.
“I see that.” She laughs with him, as he sets up everything. Tom takes off his shirt, and gets into bed with Y/N, who cuddles herself into his chest. She takes a deep breath, intaking his scent and nuzzles her head into his neck “Feeling better already.” She whispers. It was true. All the pain, exhaustion, and anxiety Y/N felt just seemed to stop for a moment. There truly was nothing better than being in his arms. He was like a barrier that prevented all the bad things from coming between them.
“Im glad, darling. Just rest. I love you.” He whispers back.
The next morning, Harry and Tom had set up breakfast in time as Y/N headed downstairs.
“Looks like Sleeping Beauty is awake.” Harry comments as he places Y/N’s favorite stack of pancakes on the table. “Feeling better?”
Y/N nodded, as she took a bite. “Thank you guys. You’re all amazing you know that? Im so lucky to have you guys in my life.” She blurted out, almost feeling tears well up from how grateful she was feeling.
“Oh darling don’t cry.” Tom cooed as he rubbed her back.
“No. No. Im okay. Im cool.” Y/N laughs as she takes a moment to calm down. “But I am starving. Damn, these pancakes are so good.” She shoved another one in her mouth as she continued to eat and eat.
“Wow, you werent kidding.” Harry chuckles. “Mood swings and being famished...are you sure youre not pregnant.”
“Ha..Ha. Very funny Harry. Clearly im not because aunty flow came.” Y/N rolls her eyes as she continues eating . “Think the symptoms are just bad this month.”
“Damn, I was really hoping you would be.” Tom said half-jokingly. While he knows both of them arent ready to raise a child yet in this hectic situation, the idea of having one with Y/N just made it all worth it.
“Put a ring on it first and then maybe we can talk.” Y/N laughs.
“Oh believe me. I plan too.”

"Tooru..?"
You called for him gently but he didnt stir. You shifted away from him and sat on the edge of the bed, looking back at him before looking away again. A few moments had passed when you felt a lanky yet muscular pair of arms wrap around your waist. "Tooru?"
He was looking at you with a tired yet concerned expression. "What's wrong?" His question was soft as he gently pulled you to lay back down with him. "I just cant sleep... I'm really nervous about it I guess." Oikawa pulled you into a tight hug, resting a hand on the back of your head and efficiently smashing your face into his, still, bare chest. You blushed as he wrapped a leg around your legs.
"Remember? Even if it isn't you, I'll find you ok?" He pulled his hand away to let you look up to him. He had a pretty convincing smile on his face which made you smile too. You rested your head on his chest and kept smiling, closing your eyes.
"Thank you..."
Oikawa just smiled and gently brushed your hair with his fingers, slowly but surely luling you to sleep.
---
You woke up to the sound of your alarm going off saying it was 8am. You reached over to your phone and turned it off. It was just you in the bed but you were still in your room. You were confused.
Did I even switch with someone? And wheres Oikawa at?
You stood up and shivered at the cold air against your chest. No shirt? You looked down and realized.
Quickly you ran into the bathroom and looked into the mirror, feeling 'your' face as you tried to process what was happening. You went down stairs to smell food being made. You saw your mom and 'you' making breakfast. Both of them turned around to see 'Oikawa' shirtless and shocked.
"You. Little. RAT." You marched over and grabbed 'Oikawa' by the collar of his shirt and dragged him up stairs. "Tooru! I was cooking with my mom! Let go!" You pushed him into your room and locked the door. 'He' smiled up to 'you' and pulled the two of you into a hug.
"(Y/n), Oikawa? Are you two ok?" Your mom asked, knocking on your door gently. "Yeah, were fine. I'll explain in a minute." You said, forgetting you were still in Oikawas body. He had pulled away to grab a shirt from his bag to give you to wear. While you slipped on a shirt, you hadn't noticed that he had taken off the pj shirt that you were wearing and slipped on one of his own.
You looked over to him and looked annoyed. He was looking at 'himself' in the mirror on your closet. "You look so cute in my shirt." You blushed and grabbed his hand. "Can we please go explain to my mom and then figure out a way to switch back?" He smiled sweetly up to you and nodded.
"Stop making that face! You're making me look ugly!" He said as you just turned around, unlocked the door and dragged him back downstairs.
Your mom looked at the two of you with confusion and worry. "So... Remember how soulmates are a whole thing." You said rubbing the back of 'your' neck. She nods before thinking for a moment. "Oh! Oh..." She laughs and looks between the two of you. "That makes a lot of sense now! I was wondering what made my soon want to help me with breakfast this morning."
You glared over to 'Oikawa' and 'he' just smiled up to you with a soft blush on 'his' face. "Well, I'll be heading off to work soon so the two of you will be alone till tonight." You nodded and gave your mom a hug, 'Oikawa' doing the same.
Oikawa smiled and sat down at the table with you to eat the breakfast your mom had made. "So, how do you think we should go about swapping bodies back?" You shrugged as you kept eating, glancing to 'Oikawa' every so often. "I looked into some other people's experiences with the kind I have and they're almost all different." You said, finishing off your plate. Oikawa did the same and took both plates to the sink.
"What was the first one you read?" He asked, walking back over to you. "There was one about when you share a first of something. But like it has to be that both of you have never done that thing with someone if that makes sense."
He nods and pulls you up from the dining chair, nearly toppling the both of you in the process. "Dont forget you're in my body Tooru." He giggles and leads you upstairs. "Let's change so we can go on a date!" You blushed at him with wide eyes. "W-what? Why? We can just figure it out here!" Oikawa pulls off his shirt and slowly pulls down 'his' pants making you blush and grab his wrists.
"Wait, wait wait wait. H-how are we gonna do this?" Oikawa looked to you and tilted his head. "Well, were gonna see eachother naked at some point." He said, quickly pushing down 'his' pants. "Oikawa!" He looked back to you with an innocent smile. "Whaat?"
"Dont go any further." You warmed him firmly, holding 'his' wrists away from 'his' waist. He smirked and tried to pull away to do so but realized he couldnt. It was your turn to smirk and he looked up to you. "I like that I can do this now." He blushed and looked away making you roll your eyes.
"(Y/n)... You'll have to change too." "I dont trust you if I let you go." "I promise I wont!" "If you do I'll kill you Oikawa!"
---
After a very eventful changing session, the two of you were ready for a "date". "Ne, (Y/n), let's go already!" Oikawa whined out, pulling on your hand. "Hold on, lemme just..." You were messing with 'your' hair. "Jus stahp already- I think it's cute so leave it alone." You stopped and looked to his eyes with a blush. "You have it like, everyday at school so I didnt think it was such a big deal."
"And you never told me!?" Oikawa cackled and pulled you down stairs to put your shoes on. You both already had phones and wallets so all that was left was shoes. "Let's go to the Cafe first! Iwaizumi wants to meet us there and talk for a bit." Oikawa said standing up. You stood up as well and held 'his' hand. "Let's go get this over with."
---
The walk to the Cafe was short and sweet. You could see Iwaizumi sitting at a window booth. He spotted the two of you and waved. 'Oikawa' waved back and you did hesitantly, making the other visibly furrow his brows. The two of you walked in and made it over to his booth. "Good morning you two... Something happen?"
Oikawa responded, but not as himself. "Yeah, turns out Oikawa was my soulmate after all. We swapped back already. It was easy to figure out." Iwaizumi looked over to 'Oikawa' to see a very annoyed/aggravated stare looking back at him. 'You' shook 'your' head as Iwaizumi laughed. "What? We did." You growled slightly and smacked the back of his head.
"Stop trying to convince people your me shittykawa." "Mmh... (Y/n)~ That was mean~" Iwaizumi kept laughing before smiling at the two of you and making conversation.
The three of you talked about what happened and some upcoming assignments when Iwaizumi said he had to leave. "Well, you two have fun trying to find a way to swap back." He said gently patting your shoulder. "Please dont kill him, we need him for nationals. Good luck." Iwaizumi whispered to you before heading out.
The two of you kept on with your date, trying different things to see what could turn you back. Currently, you were in a park, laying on the grass, groaning while Oikawa went and bought some ice cream. You had closed your eyes when suddenly a shadow loomed over you. You opened your eyes to see Oikawas fangirls gawking at you.
"The hell do you want?" You asked, glaring up to them. "You're so funny Oikawa! Remember, we set up a date for today!" You furrowed your brows. "Uh, no?" She just smiled and tilted her head as you stood up to look at her properly. "Yeah we did silly, did you forget?" You looked around for 'Oikawa' but didnt see him at the ice cream stand anymore. "Yeah, no, we didnt do that. I wouldn't forget something as important as a date."
You tried to walk away to find your soulmate but were stopped when she grabbed your wrist. "Silly Oikawa! Let's go on our date now!" You pulled your wrist away and walked up to 'Oikawa' when he came back over. "What were your first words to me?" You asked, gently wrapping an arm around 'Oikawa'.
"You're in the way, stupid trashcan." 'Oikawa' responded without thinking, a smile on his face. "That question was for your little fangirl over there Tooru." He looked over to see a pretty pissed girl, glaring at 'him'. "Oh, but she wouldn't know that." "Yeah I know that, what shes not processing is that were soulmates and is trying to take 'you' who is me on a date." You said pointing to Oikawas body then your own.
"Who cares if you two are soulmates, just go out with me Oikawa." You roll your eyes and sigh. "Dont you get it?" You suddenly pulled him into a kiss, shocking him but he closed his eyes and kissed back none the less. You opened your eyes to see you were still in Oikawas body and he was still in yours. "I love him and that's not changing."
'Oikawa' quipped to her, "Plus, I'm in his body and hes in mine! You'd be going on a date with (Y/n) and not me!" Oikawa said with his 'signature' spunk. She looked like she was malfunctioning before storming off. "I think it finally clicked." You said licking the slightly melting ice cream in 'Oikawa's hand. He licked it as well and smiled.
"That was a really good kiss..."
---
The two of you had a pretty normal yet enjoyable date other than the part at the park. "I cant believe we tried so much but we havent switched back yet..." You said, laying down on your bed. 'Oikawa' straddled your hips and leaned over you a bit. "Well, there is one thing we havent tried." You blushed and looked to 'his' eyes.
"We are so not- mph." Oikawa leaned in and kissed you, resting a hand on 'your' peck for support. He slipped his tongue into your mouth and the kiss got a bit heated till you pulled away. You blinked a few times before realizing.
"Well would you look at that." He said as you smiled and leaned down to kiss him again, he reciprocated instantly and tangled a hand in the back of your hair. You pulled away again and looked to his eyes.
"I love you Tooru."
You rest your head on his chest and closed your eyes as he rubbed your back gently.
"I love you too (Y/n). I'm glad I'm your soulmate."

I ALMOST DO PART 4
Part 3 here!
My masterlist is here!
Tumblr media
I didnt sleep good at all, I tossed and turned finally giving up just as dawn started creeping up over the mountains. I showered then grabbed my phone, six thirty in the morning. I open my texts and scroll through mine and Jason's conversation over and over again. I cannot believe I didnt sense it. I should have known it wasnt kammy but I'll blame it on the beer from last night. I'm supposed to meet jason today but my mind kept trying to figure out a way out of it.
Just as I think I may have an idea of how to get out of it a text comes in.
'Dont even think about leaving before we can talk.'
I sigh and roll my eyes, damn him, why does he always seem to know what I'm thinking. I send a quick okay to him and shut my phone off. I cant deal with him right now, my mind is to muddled with various thoughts anyways and Jason is just going to confuse me more. I decide to go out for breakfast, grabbing my room key and wallet from the bedside table I turn the knob and stop short when I see who's on the other side of the door.
"Luke?" He stood there smiling,  smile that should've made my heart flutter but it didnt. It made my heart drop into my stomach and put my nerves and senses on high alert.
"You expecting someone else?" His brow raised and his head tilted to the side.
I shook my head, "n..no, of course not. I'm just....surprised." I pasted a fake smile on my face but luke has never been able to tell what was a real one or fake one. He grabbed his suitcase and rolled it in through the door past me, not even asking if he can come in. I shut the door slowly, trying to get my nerves under control before I spoke again. "What are you doing here?"
Luke's arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me toward him. "Can't a man surprise his fiancé?" He pressed his lips to mine for a brief moment, "I've missed you." He pulled away and sat on the edge of the bed, "so where were you going so early in the morning?"
"Huh....oh, I was heading out to grab some breakfast." I held my wallet up as if that would prove it.
He smacked his hands on his knees which made me jump, and stood from his place on the bed. "That sounds great, I haven't had anything yet myself. Plus you can show me around, what's good around here."
I try to smile and nod, "okay, but I just want to let you know it's alot different here than it is in the city."
"You think I cant handle it?" He whispers inches from my face.
I shake my head slowly, "I didnt say that just wanted you to know that....you might find a new favorite food or something."
He smiled as his lips brushed mine, "maybe." He walked to the door and held it open for me. As we walked down the hallway I pray that his surprise visit doesn't end badly but I can't shake the feeling in my gut that things are about to go downhill.
We sat in the diner that I was just at last night looking over the menus. Nothing really had changed since I left so I didn't have to look long. Our waitress was a young girl probably fresh out of high school, her blonde hair in a neat ponytail and her makeup was natural looking. "Hi my name is Rachel and I'll be your waitress this morning. Do you want something to drink while you look over the menu?"
Luke looked up from his menu, "do you serve white chocolate mochas here?"
Rachel snickered a little and truth be told I did too, "no sir, we only have soft drinks and coffee."
Luke didnt take the embarrassment lightly, but before he could say anything I spoke up. "Two coffees please." She nodded and walked towards the counter where the coffee pot and mugs were. A minute later she placed them in front of us and took out her pad and pencil.
"Have you decided what you would like to eat or do you need a few more minutes?"
I knew what I was having but wasn't sure about Luke. "I'll have the breakfast platter with bacon." Luke shut his menu, "I'll have a egg white omelet,  no cheese. With onions, tomatoes and mushrooms."
Rachel looked puzzled at first but finished taking his order and walked back to the kitchen. I watched as Luke unwrapped his silverware from the paper napkin and inspected it. He grimaced and pulled a handkerchief from his pocket. "Look at how filthy this fork is."
He held it out for me to see, "it's just a water spot from the dishwasher. Nothing that's going to kill you."
His eyes turned hard and cold and for a moment a chill ran down my spine. "They are running a establishment here, they need to be more professional."
I raised my eyebrow at him, "I think you've already forgot we are not in the city. I grew up eating here and I am fine." I sipped my coffee waiting for his response.
He sipped his coffee too and made yet another face. "This is what you call coffee in the country? It tastes like it came from a sludge pit."
"Keep your voice down." I whispered harshly to him. He grabbed my wrist, squeezing until I'm sure I would bruise.
"Dont scold me like a child." He growls and I tug at my wrist until he shoves it back at me.
I rub my wrist and I could feel tears forming behind my eyes but I sucked it up. This wasn't the first time he's bruised me but it has been a long time since he did it. I heard the bell above the door ring as someone entered and my breath caught in my throat as jason walked in.
I tried to blend in and try to act normal so he wouldn't notice I was there. Of course that wouldn't happen because his eyes found mine and he smiled as he began to walk over.
"Hey." He said casually as he looked from me to Luke.
"Hey jason." My voice no more than a whisper as I saw the look on Luke's face. He looked from me to Jason and back at me again. "What are you doing here?"
He smiled, "well I came to get breakfast. What are you doing here? Who's this?" He gestured towards Luke.
Before I could say anything luke held his hand out, "I'm the fiancé, Luke evans." I watched in horror as Jason's eyes widened as he took Luke's hand and shook it.
"Well what do you know, y/n didn't mention you were coming down here." Jason looked at me with his eyebrow raised.
Luke cleared his throat, "I surprised her, I have always wanted to see where my princess grew up. Who are you again?"
"I'm the caretaker of her father's cabin. Been looking after it for years." Jason surprised me by sticking to the basics and not mentioning our history which I was very thankful for. "Chuck called me this morning and asked if I'd come help him at the shop for a few days."
"Oh. I didnt know the shop was still running." I spoke up finding my voice once again.
Jason nodded, "running full force, ive been helping out alot since your father got sick. Y/n you still know how to keep up with all the clients?"
I nodded slowly, "I think so, what are you getting at?"
He shrugged, "maybe you can come by and help us out. It's hard for Chuck to do everything especially since he doesn't know what he's doing."
I shook my head but before I could say anything Luke spoke up, "that's a great idea! We will both help out, after all it is your family business and it is your responsibility now. Am I right?"
"Yeah," I squeaked, "yeah, I'll come by and help yall out."
"We." Corrected Luke.
"Yeah sorry, we will come and help out."
Jason smiled, "great see you guys in a few."
With that Jason walked to the counter and was talking to the waitress. I still felt his eyes on me every now and then.
"Well that was...interesting." Luke said before he sipped his coffee.
"Do you know anything about working on cars?" The question left my mouth before I could stop it.
He glared at me over his cup, he set it down slowly but firmly. "Oh darling, never underestimate me. I can do many things if I set my mind to it."

the first few of weeks at natasha's house were fine. you tried really hard not to think about all the changes happening. like being monitored 24/7, or having to abide by natasha's rules all the time, or knowing that you were growing to be healthy.
it was okay, at first.
you hardly put up a fight when it came down to her rules. even meal time seemed to go without a hitch.
but as many people have said before, all good things cone to an end.
the second you woke up today, you could already tell it wasn't going to be fun. everything you'd pushed aside came crawling back, and you could feel every insecurity of yours heighten a thousand times worse than before.
nat's arms rest gently around your waist, and while it normally felt reassuring, you couldn't help but notice the extra weight you'd put on.
you still felt overly full from last night. if natasha woke up right now, you were positive she could feel how expanded your stomach was.
(god, you did not want her to feel how bloated you still were.)
now you knew there was nothing wrong with having a stomach, especially one that wasn't flat or as unwell as yours had become. but it was your body, and your body felt wrong.
feeling natasha's breath on the back of your neck, you gingerly began removing her arm from your body. however, your plan quickly failed when natasha pulled you in closer, her grip tightening around you.
you bit your lip to suppress your cries. you needed out and you needed out right now.
things quickly became unbearable. the longer you felt trapped, the more your body began to tremble. and though you despised it, you turned around to face natasha, your head buried in the crook of her neck.
the thoughts were loud. much louder than they had been the past few weeks.
you tried to keep your cries to a low level, but that didn't seem to work. natasha awoke within the very same minute. her first instinct was to check on you, but seeing as tears were streaming down your face she knew what the problem was.
nat pulled you closer to her, letting her right hand rub the backside of your body in an attempt to calm you down.
"hey now, it's okay, it's alright. you're okay, you're safe, you're here. i'm here." you continued to sob, letting every detail of your own self hatred slip from your mouth.
natasha wasn't surprised at the outburst. she knew you would have days like this, more days would soon follow. that was reality. she didn't expect your recovery to be perfect, if it was then she would know you weren't really getting better – simply putting on weight to please her.
she couldn't take away your pain (although she wished she could), but she could be there, offer you her love and support, coax you through meals when you needed her to.
when you'd finally calmed down you turned away from her, suddenly embarrassed at how you acted. she could feel you tense back up again, a failed attempt at blocking her out.
it was nat, who were you to think she couldn't read you like an open book?
nonetheless, she kissed the back of your head and moved out from under the covers. "i'm going to make breakfast, i'll be back."
you sighed. breakfast was not an option.
but 15 minutes later natasha returned with a plate of eggs, toast and a cup of fruit on the side. she even made it all pretty and nice for you.
“up, y/n. i know you don't want to, but you have to eat.”
"no," you mumbled, bringing the blanket over your head. she tugged them away instantly, "yes."
"it's too early."
"you didn't say that yesterday-"
"well i'm saying it today, natasha. now fuck off."
natasha knew better than to take your words to heart. if anything, she found it rather entertaining to see just how far you'd go to try and push her buttons.
an idea came to mind, a negotiation, really.
"tell you what, no breakfast, but you have to eat lunch and three snacks between dinner."
you thought about it for a second before peeking from underneath the covers, "deal." natasha patted your side, "i'm only doing this because you've been doing so well these past few weeks. don't count on this deal happening again." she spoke thoroughly, the plate of food now on its way into the kitchen trash-bin.
while you laid in bed natasha texted wanda. the redhead thought it would be beneficial for the younger woman to pay a visit. she knew how close the two of you were and decided to invite her over. it wasn't much, but the idea of wanda coming over and (possibly) helping you in any shape or form was very reassuring to natasha.
wanda texted back almost instantly, informing her that she was just short of an hour out, having to stop for gas on the way. natasha thumbs up'd her message and began planning out the day.
before either of you knew it, it was 12 noon. lunch had approached sooner than expected. wanda and natasha easily got caught up in a conversation. the only thing keeping time was nat's alarm that set off.
"time to go wake y/n up," natasha giggled, although she knew you'd be a challenge today. wanda followed her, too excited to wait on surprising you with lunch.
"y/n! c'mon, a special someone is here to see you."
a groan could be heard from the bed as you up to see who was there. you smiled at the sight of wanda and she immediately brought you in for a squeeze-the-life-out-of-you hug.
you didn't miss her smile faltering when she let you go.
you were still just as boney and thin as you were when you left the compound. three weeks was nothing, but you swore you could feel every ounce of weight gain coming back.
wanda helped you out of bed, allowing you to lean on her as she guided you into the kitchen. it was a good thing too, because you were more light headed than usual.
"what are you doing here?" wanda smiled and pushed the already prepared plate of food towards you. it'd been a few minutes and you hadn't even touched your fork. "what? couldn't surprise you?" natasha giggled from your left. you already seemed to be in a much better mood with wanda around than you had been this morning. but both women caught onto the fact that you were only shoving the food on your plate, not making any effort at all to actually eat it.
nat tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, "you have to eat, you know the deal we made." her push was soft, but it didn't make things any easier.
you sighed, tightening the grip around your fork. things like this shouldn't be so hard. it was food. food is fuel, food is good, but somewhere in your mind those messages were twisted and crumpled into something that could never be more false.
you leaned into natasha, keeping your face shielded away from the plate. tears sprung into your eyes and you begged for her to not make you eat.
"tasha, just one day, please. i promise i'll eat tomorrow-"
"i wish that were true, i really do, sweetheart." nat rubbed your shoulder before pushing you back, forcing you to look her in the eyes. "i'm going to go grocery shopping and run a few extra errands. wanda will be here to watch you finish your meal and to have a snack or two before i get back. i love you, okay?"
(you knew she did. but holy fuck, why did she have to do this to you.)
"yeah, you too." and with that, natasha grabbed her keys, kissed you on the forehead and left.
you don't know why, but you didn't actually think wanda would listen to natasha. that belief was quickly thrown out when you moved to get up from the table, wanda quick to grab your wrist and stop you from going to far.
"stay. please? just a few bites, i won't tell natasha if you don't..." she pleaded. a feeling of safety grew in your chest. your level of trust with her had always been high, but this time it felt more intimate. wanda was seeing you at your worst, a vulnerable position you'd never let anyone else but tasha see, and yet, wanda decided to stay.
it took over an hour for you to manage half a meal. wanda sat through it all, however, and coaxed you through each bite.
now, two hours later with a snack in hand, you sat quietly on the porch, head resting on wanda's lap with her fingers tied in your hair.
"do you talk to nat?"
"sometimes. actually yeah, most of the time i talk to her. it helps, and she's a great listener." you complimented.
"wanda?"
"hm?"
"why are you doing this?"
wanda looked down at you, seeing your eyes bore into her and bit her lip, "it's hard to see the girl that i loved and the girl that came back. i should've noticed before you went on your mission, but i didn't because i was too wrapped up with my own issues."
"you can't blame yourself, wanda. i didnt want to be seen. you couldn't have done anything different."
she hummed, ears perking up at the sound of natashas car pulling in the driveway.
you jumped up from her lap and ran to help tasha with her groceries, earning a loving glare from the redhead.
oh yeah. no strenuous activity. too many calories that you needed would be burned off. at least that's what you were told anyway.
wanda stayed the rest of the day, even through dinner. (only because you begged natasha to let her stay that long.)
natasha didn't seem to mind that she stayed. the redhead heard more laughs and giggles from you than she'd heard in the past six months.
the worst part about the day ending was the fact that wanda had to leave eventually.
(eventually being now.)
you pouted. you weren't ready for her to go just yet.  she'd taken your mind off of so much today and you weren't sure you could face it again. really, you didn't want to face it again.
"i believe in you." she murmured.
stupid mind reading.
wanda rolled her eyes, "i'm serious, y/n. you've got this. you're amazing."
“you're only saying that because you have to.”
her eyebrows pulled together. "no. i'm saying it because i know it's true. you've got a gift, y/n. what you have– you're going to get it back."
you inhaled.
"next time i see you, i want you to be a little bit more healthy, okay?" wanda gave you a tight hug and left without another word. she just hoped the next time she saw you it wasn't in a casket.
you hoped the next time you saw her, you'd be better.
today wasn't easy, but it gave you a taste of everything you'd been missing.
and you wanted it back.

Remember Me Part 2
Tumblr media
Previous Part <——-->Next Part
Bucky Barnes x Reader Word Count: 4.1k
Warnings: SMUT and everything that comes with it, Talk of death and murder, violence, guns, brainwashing, sleazy billionaires (eat the rich)
A/N: I have had so much fun with this, give your opinions in the comments
They lied, there was no new mission tomorrow. I stayed locked in that dark little cell that they called my room. It was somewhat comfortable, they had to keep me Poole that so I would be able to keep myself in peak shape. A soldier is no good if they’re sick and in pain. There were sparse books, guides like The Art of War, or the vile words of Mein Kampf. I didn’t like the second one at all. The views were absolutely disgusting, but It made some sort of sense that it was there. I remember vaguely hearing about how Hydra was part of Nazi Germany. Although I couldn’t quite remember what that was, I knew it was bad, because that was what the book itself was about.
The walls were made of cement, the floors lined with corrugated metal. There was a metal bed frame in the corner, with a mattress, pillow, and blanket. Just enough to keep me comfortable. There was a desk in the other corner, simple metal table and chair, but nothing on it or in it. It was simply a place to fill out my mission reports. In the back was a door that lead to a small shower, toilet, and sink. Finally, a punching bag hung from the ceiling on the same side as the bed. I had been in this room for so long that I had memorized every inch of it.
It was difficult to tell how long I had been in here. The only clue to how long was the wall of carved tally marks, at least 20,000, give or take. They never actually gave me a calendar or anything to keep track of time, instead, I tracked it on mealtimes.
It had been about three weeks this time, complete with twenty two new tallies added to the wall. They pulled me out of the room after breakfast, restraining me by walking me with each of my arms held still. I had hope that he would be on this assignment, and as the door opened, a wave of relief hit me. My expression stayed stoic, unreadable. His face was the same, no emotion, no hint of what he did or did not remember. I was pushed into the seat next to him. He didn’t look at me, simply looking forward at the metal desk in front of us.
Pierce finally walked in the door. This must be a high profile mission if he’s here. Two folders were placed in front of us. We each opened our respective files, detailing the mission, even though Pierce began to explain.
“The two of you will be going on and undercover find and kill mission. You will be attending a charity gala for Rosenthal Industries, a former business partner of ours. Caleb Rosenthal will be attending the event. Your job is to get him alone, inject him with the neuro-agent, and make sure he’s dead. Your covers are listed in the file.” I nodded that I understood the mission, and so did Bucky.
The two of us were monitored during the car ride. We were meant to stay in the back while someone else drove the car. The entire ride was silent, the two of us trading glances at each other as we went over our respective files.
We were yet again set up as a couple, but we were meant to have some sort of agreement, an open marriage sort of situation. They were sending me to seduce the young Rosenthal, and get him alone. It was something that I had done millions of times it felt, but this mission was different. There was a more important objective at play, escape.
The minute we were given a room, we looked everywhere, analyzing and checking every item of the room for bugs or cameras. Once we confirmed there were none, I walked over to Bucky.
“What do you remember?” I asked, looking him dead in the eyes. I watched as the facade melted away from his face, the emotionless and cold look being replaced with a smile and adoring eyes.
I pulled his face down to me, pressing my lips to his. I tried to keep control, but it didnt last for long, as an arm snaked around my waist, the cold metal pushing up my shirt slightly to make contact with my skin. I gasped from the sensation, and he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss.
I felt the strain in my lungs, and broke the kiss, looking right back up at him.
“I know its been three weeks, but we only have three hours till the charity gala, and we both have to look presentable.” An idea popped into his head evident by the smirk appearing on his face.
“I mean, we definitely should take a shower first,” He said, hands moving up and down my sides.
“It’s probably a bad idea, but you are too good to pass up.” I yelped as my legs were sweeped out under me, Bucky carrying me through the air into the hotel bathroom.
Since we had to have a higher profile for this mission, the hotel room was much nicer than usual. The biggest excitement had to be the massive shower, more than big enough for the two of us. He put me down on the marble sink countertop, practically ripping his suit jacket and shirt off. My hands reached for his chest as he began to undo the buttons on my maroon dress shirt. Once the offending fabric was gone, he moved on to the rest of my clothing, ridding the both of us of any clothing that we had been wearing.
I whined at the cold as he left to go and start the shower, making sure that it was the right temperature. I didn’t want to wait for him to come back over to me, so I walked over to the shower, wrapping my arms around him from behind as he tested the water. I wanted to stay like that forever, simply cuddling myself into his back, the warmth of his body in contact with my cold skin. He began to turn and face me, and i loosened my grip so I could keep my arms around him.
“Doll, are you going to let go or are the two of us going to have to shuffle out way into the shower?” I pouted, but complied as he pulled me into the deliciously hot water.
“I missed you so much, Y/N,” His hands grazed their way down and up me like they did before. I tangled my hand into Bucky’s hair, pulling his lips onto mine. I had no patience at this point, and neither did he, the kiss rough and passionate as I was backed into the wall of the shower. His mouth began to move from my mouth, trailing lower and lower. I felt the warmth of his tongue swirling around my nipple, and a gasp broke free from my lips. The smooth of his metal fingers toyed with the other, making me throw my head back into the tile of the shower.
“Fuck, keep makin those noises, doll.” His mouth moved away, trailing even lower, leaving kisses on my hips. He looked up at me, his eyes once again scanning mine for any hint of hesitation. Even through everything, he was still so kind, so sweet and concerned for me, it made me fall in love with him all over again. I was so distracted by my own sappy thoughts, that Bucky got the jump on me, licking one broad stripe up my pussy, nearly knocking the wind out of my lungs with how much I needed him. My hands flew to his hair, tangling into the long locks and pulling him closer. He moaned, sending vibrations straight to my clit, which only made me cry out and pull harder.
“Fuck, Bucky, please!” I could feel that knot that continued to tighten in my stomach. My hips began to try and move on their own, but Bucky’s hands pinned me to the tile wall so I couldn’t. I was pulled out of my trance as I felt two cold fingers slip inside of me.
I screamed his name out as his fingers began curling and pressing against the sweet spot inside of me, the combination of both his mouth and his fingers finally pushing me over the edge.
Buck held me down, helping me through my orgasm, holding my hips so I wouldn’t fall, and licking up every drop of my cum until he was satisfied. He finally stood up, making sure to hold me up so my legs wouldn’t give out from under me, his flesh hand pushing my chin up so he could look at me. My hands reached out to grab his cock, wanting him to get something out of this too, but he pushed them away.
“Not today, Doll, we gotta actually shower now, like you said, remember?” I groaned, but I knew that he was right. We had a mission to prepare for, and a plan to enact. Still holding me up, he moved me into the jets of water coming from the shower head. The hot water hit the back of my neck nicely, as Bucky squeezed out some of the soap into my hand. It felt like his hands were everywhere, assisting me with washing every bit and piece of me. Once I was finally able to stand on my own, he moved to get the shampoo, telling me to turn around and step out of the water.
He stood behind me, his hands in my hair, making sure that every single bit had been properly shampooed. I couldn’t help but sigh as his fingers worked the bubbles into the roots of my hair. Once he was finished, I stepped back under the water, as he aided in the washing away of all the shampoo and suds for one last time before the two of us switched places.
Although I knew that we had to go quickly, we, more like I, needed the time to get ready for the gala, but how could I not take the chance that I had been given to enjoy what he looked like, being able to simply move my hands over his chest, spreading the now foamy soap across his body. I moved my hands across every part of him, making sure he was perfectly clean for the gala. Once I got to putting the shampoo in his hair, I noticed a bit of a problem. Although I wasn’t the shortest person in the world, Bucky was still much taller than me, which created a bit of an obstacle when trying to wash his hair. I got up on the balls of my feet in order to reach the top of his head, collecting all of his hair in my hands to make sure everything was washed and clean. I felt as his muscles relax, as if he didn’t even know that they had been tensed, as my fingers worked at his scalp. If I wasn’t allowed to touch him in the way that I wanted, I would make him feel good in any way I could. He turned back around and into the water, rinsing all of the shampoo out of his hair.
I looked in front of the large mirror that lined one side of the bathroom. As I looked at myself, my thoughts wandered away from me. In all the time that I had been a soldier, the only women that I had ever come in contact with were doctors and nurses whenever I would get hurt on the job. They were extra careful with me, maybe it was because my face was valuable, or some bullshit like that. Other than that, I had never once seen a woman in any facility I had been in. I thought about this as I looked at myself, as the supplies and wardrobe given for me for the mission simply could not have been picked out by the type of men that I had met as a soldier. The makeup was high quality, clearly expensive, with perfect matches in color and shade in comparison to both my skin tone and the dress that I was given. The floor length black dress hugged my body in just the right way while also hiding the shiny silver of my leg. My hair was styled and put up and out of my way, both appropriate for the situation and the mission. I smiled at this woman that I did not recognize in the mirror. This was not me, this was Rose Castellan. I liked her, she wasn’t turned into a soldier against her will, experimented on and tortured for as long as she can remember.
I turned around, breaking away from my little pity party to see Bucky behind me, clearly struggling with his hair and tie.
“Help?” He looked so confused, and I smiled. I knew he didn’t tend to go on these types of missions, at least never by himself. He always struggled with his metal arm and trying to tie his tie, as well as never knowing what to do with his hair.
“Sit down, I’ll help with your hair first.” He sat in the chair that I had pulled into the bathroom from the desk. He complied as I began to fix his hair.
“So, any new memories in the last few days?” I asked, picking up the hairbrush and pulling it through his hair to get out all of the knots and tangles.
“There’s this one name that keeps repeating itself in my head, Steve. I know it’s important, I just can’t quite put my finger on who it is or why they are important.” I nodded, noting the information in my head.
“I am having the same situation. There’s a B rattling around, and I can’t quite get the rest of the word, but the B is there.” My hands gathered as much hair as I could in my hands, pulling it up to the top of the back of his head. “I have some parts that are solid progressions of time, but then it simply stops, sometimes for months, other times for years, is that like that for you?”
“Yeah, I can remember some missions that come in order, but then it just stops, and then starts back up later.”
“They really did a number on us the last time it worked when the tried to fry us, I could have sworn that I knew where all that time was going.” I pulled the elastic from my wrist, pulling it over the bundle of hair that I had gathered into a small top knot that kept his hair out of his eyes. His eyes scanned over his reflection in the mirror, clearly not used to the different look.
“Did I do ok”
“Of course, doll, just going to take a bit of getting used to.”
“You know you don’t need to keep it.”
“Yeah, but I liked it when you did it.” My eyes drifted to the ground for a moment as a blush spread over my face.
Bucky stood up from his chair, standing facing towards me. Taking the tie in my hands, I moved the fabric in and out of itself until it formed the knot that it was meant to. Finishing it off, I buttoned the front of his jacket, completing the look.
Glancing over at the clock, I saw that it was almost time to go. Luckily enough, we didn’t have to get into another car with another random driver, the Rosenthal Building was right next to our hotel.
“So what’s the plan for tonight?” He asked, as the two of us began to get our things together to leave.
“After we complete the objective, instead of returning to the hotel and checking in with Pierce for extraction, we disappear, find somewhere off the grid that we can hide out for a little while so we can recover more memories,”
“Sounds like a good idea, we can’t plan too far ahead, we weren’t given schematics of the building or anything.” We looked at each other, nodding, before he offered his arm out to me, escorting me out of the hotel room.
I picked up a drink off of the small tray that was held by one of the servers in the ballroom. I thanked him, and Bucky did the same. Swirling my finger in my drink, I looked at the polish on my fingernail to see if it had changed color. It hadn’t. The drinks were clean.
The room was exactly how you would expect, with the fanciest furniture and decorations that money could buy, the guests all in the finest and most up to date fashion, everyone talking about their recent business ventures and lavish trips around the globe. There was an anger burning in me, but I had no idea where it came from. The two of us scanned the room, looking for the target.
I looked over to see the target, Caleb Rosenthal. He was young, maybe in his mid twenties, with a pretty face and a lot of money. It was clear to see that this man had never met any sort of opposition or struggle in his life, always given everything he had ever wanted. I looked at Bucky for a sort of confirmation that I should start, and he nodded. Taking a deep breath, I walked over to the small group that Rosenthal had been talking to. I sauntered over, getting his attention.
“And who might you be?” His voice was unbearable, the entitlement and ego dripping off of his words.
“Rose Castellan of Castellan and Stowe Law, we haven’t met formally.”
“I would have remembered a face like yours, what’s your deal?”
“We mainly work in company lawsuits. We’re the guys that save your ass if you do something everyone will regret.” He laughed at the comment, before shooing the rest of the crowd around him away.
“Would you like to dance?” He offered his hand to me, and I smiled sweetly at him, taking it as he led me to the dance floor. His hands were sweaty and wet, but I suffered through it. The two of us danced for a while as the soft and slow music played in the background. I glanced over to see Bucky watching us with a laser stare.
“So who’s the guy?” Rosenthal asked, gesturing towards Bucky.
“My husband, but don’t worry about him.”
“Oh, and why is that?” His voice had that air of suggestiveness to it that made me want to throw up in my mouth. I leaned into him, getting my face close to his ear.
“Let’s just say the two of us have a bit of an arrangement,” I made the underlying tone of the sentence all the more apparent as I moved his hand lower down my back to rest on my ass. He looked surprised at how forward I was being, but it didn’t take long for him to lean into my ear.
“Let’s get out of here.”
“Lead the way.” Rosenthal took my hand and began to lead me away from the party.
The two of us walked the hallways, as Caleb tried to find an appropriate room in his own building. I looked behind me, and in the darkness of the hallway, hidden well by the shadows lurked Bucky, watching to make sure that nothing would go too far.
Once he found an office that he deemed suitable, he swung the door open, looking both ways down the hall before opening the door and letting me walk in. He locked the door behind him, and his lips were on mine, pushing me into the desk. I sat myself on the desk as he began to move his gross and sloppy kisses down my neck. I pulled the small patch out of the secret pockets of the dress, perfectly designed. As I moved my hand around his neck, I pressed the patch into his skin, watching as the material disappeared into his flesh.
It only took moments for the toxin to hit him. He stumbled backwards from me, holding his head in pain, uttering a weak “I don’t feel so good,” before hitting the floor. I checked the man’s pulse, confirming his death, before stepping over the body and unlocking the door. Bucky was on the other side, waiting for me.
“He’s dead?”
“Are you really going to question it? I know what I’m doing!” I said, punching him in the shoulder, the attempt at comedy trying to cut the edge of the situation.
“Let’s go.” Bucky began walking down the hallway behind me, as we tried to be as inconspicuous as possible. There was always a garage door when it comes to facilities like this, and thats what we were going to go to, getting into the elevator and pressing the buttons for the ground floor.
Once the doors closed, Bucky pulled me in and pressed a chaste kiss to my lips, soft and sweet, a comfort.
“What was that for?”
“I just want to make sure I did that, no matter what happens.”
“Nothing is going to happen, this is the perfect plan.”
That was when the elevator doors opened into the ground floor, and a man was standing there.  He nodded to us, before getting into the elevator as we got out. The two of us looked for some sort of lab, anything labeled as such. I couldn’t believe how lax the security was, but I didn’t say anything, that wasn’t our concern. Finally we found where we needed to be, a large garage, that opened up. I opened the door as Bucky watched for people around us. The entire situation felt off, like this was too easy.
Suddenly, agents began bursting in through the doors, none of which I recognized. I looked to Bucky, and he simply yelled, “Run!”
I did as I was told, sliding underneath the door and running into the street, witnesses everywhere as I ran as far as I could. People looked confused, and understandably so, a girl dressed like a debutante running through the city as fast as she can in heels. My heart pounded in my chest, as I kept looking behind me for Bucky, where was Bucky? He had to have made it out, he was a better soldier than me, he was a stronger soldier than me.
20 blocks, at least, thats how far I ran, before I finally stopped. I took so many turns that they would have had to have lost them, but there was no Bucky. I waited in that spot for a little while , an alleyway occupied by a small population of homeless people.
Bucky had to have gotten out, he had to. He just must have gone a different way, yes, that’s it! He had to have just taken a different route, ended up in a different part of the city. We would find each other later.
I looked down to what I was wearing, the clothing too distinctive. I scanned my surroundings, seeing a girl, roughly my age and size.  I went up to her, surprising her slightly.
“Hey, do you think I could trade clothes with you?” She looked at me funny for a second, but then quickly nodded. The two of us walked into the privacy that the shadows of the alley provided, shucking layers of clothing off of us, trading what one had for the other.
As I zipped up the sweatshirt and jeans given to me, I looked at the girl, still confused and concerned as to why I had asked her to take the clothing.
“You’re gonna be able to get at least 2,000 for this at a pawn shop, don’t let it get damaged before the morning unless you plan on keeping it.” Her eyes went wide with excitement and nodded, going back to the corner that she had come from.
I left the alleyway, and once again began to move, trying to find a different place to camp out for the night. I had no money, so a hotel was out of the question, and it wasn’t as if I knew anyone that I could stay with.
I was lucky that one of the things that I had gotten real good at during my training, was pickpocketing. No one was the wiser, as I moved flawlessly on the streets, anyone who dared walk next to me was subject to the loss of their wallet. I continued like this until I found myself another homeless camp, huddling in with the mass of smelly bodies.
I turned to one of the people huddled around a small fire, warming his hands. “What city is this?”
“We’re in New York, you really must have taken something strong.”

Evening to all :)
All right, so I finaly did it, the last chapter of my original story is finaly done :) It took me a while, what with the episode 8 being released at that time, and with some other stuff I wrote in the between then and now, but it is done. Well, one more part is left, basicly like an epilogue, wich will be posted in a couple of days, too, but the story itself ends with this one.
Anyway, enjoy, and I wish you all a nice evening :)
CALL OF THE RAVEN
PART 26
Jakes POV
„How is she?“ I asked Jessy as I entered the room. She got her head up from the book she was reading to look at me. „Still the same.“ She said. I sighed, walking to her bed. I took her hand, placing a soft kiss on her wrist. „The doctor was here earlier.“ Jessy informed me. „He said she is doing fine, that there's not any medical reason to be worried about.“ I just stared at her sleeping face. „Then why won't she wake up, Jessy?“ I asked her desperatly. „She will, Jake.“ she said to me, and I turned arround facing her. She smiled at me „When she's ready.“ Four days passed since they operated on her, and I was worried. Maybe Jessy was right, but her words didn't bring me any peace. She collected her stuff, and came to me. „Call me if you need anything. And if there's any change.“ She said hugging me. „Thanks, I will.“ I said, Jessy smiling once more at me before leaving. With Jessy gone, I moved myself lying next to her, leaning my forehead on the side of her head. „Please, Maya, you have to wake up.“ I whispered to her ear „ I can't do this alone, I need you with me.“
I felt a hand on my shoulder and flinched, turning my head. That nice nurse from before was smiling at me „Sorry, dear, didn't mean to fright you.“ I must have dozed off. „It's fine“ I said. „Is something wrong?“ I asked alarmed, and she smiled again „No, dear. I just need to change some things, so I have to ask you to leave for a while.“ I turned my head back to Maya, she looked so peaceful. „Dont worry, dear“ the nurse said „I'll take good care of her, just like I did before.“ I turned my look back to her. She smiled so heartedly at me, I got a feeling she had a special liking for Maya. And she did stick up for me when they brought Maya in here, and I refused to leave her and was almost dragged out by security. So I felt at peace to leave Maya with her. „Ofcourse, I'll let you do your thing.“ I said, getting up from the bed. I got to the doors when I turned back to her. „I'm sorry, but I don't know your name.“ I said and the nurse looked at me „It's Doris. Why do you ask, dear?“ „So I can properly thank you.“ I said. „So, thank you, Doris, for everything.“ She smiled wide at me „Oh, dear, you're sweet, and I knew I was right about you, but no need to thank me, really.“ She said and winked at me. I smiled back at her a bit confused before leaving the room.
I went outside, getting coffee and just sat at the bench in front of the hospital. I hated being here again. And seeing her back at that bed once more made me angry. And scared. More scared than the last time. All this uncertainty was driving me insane. If everything is fine like the doctor said, why isn't she awake yet? I was deep into my thoughts, that it took me a while to notice my phone was ringing. „Hey, Hannah.“ I answered the call. „Hi, Jake. How is she? Any change?“ she asked. I sighed „Nothing yet.“ „I'm sure everything will be fine soon, she's a fighter.“ She said reasuringly to me. „I hope so.“ I said. „I don't need to ask how you are“ she said „I can hear it in your voice. Did you eat anything today?“ I could hear the worry in her voice for me, and I could have easily lied, but she would know. „Not yet, I will later.“ „Jake, you can't do that to yourself.“ She said „And I won't let you. I'll be there in 10, and I'm taking you for lunch.“ „Hannah, that's nice of you, but rea...“ she didnt let me finish. „Stop it, I don't want to hear it!“ She almost yelled at me, and it made me smile. She really was worried for me, just like a sister would be. I was still geting used to that, of being someones brother. „All right, Hannah, I'll be waiting for you outside.“ „Good.“ She said „And besides, there is something I want to talk to you about anyway. Allrighty, see you in a while.“ „See you, Hannah.“ I said ending the call. I got up from the bench, taking the last sip of my coffe, heading out from the hospital area to meet with her.
The lunch with Hannah passed mostly with her talking and me thoughtfully nodding and saying a few words. She tried hard to lift my spirit up at least a little, and I was grateful to her, but only one thing could pull me back to normal now. „Just think about my proposal. I know you're worried about Maya, we all are, but just think about it, ok?“ Hannah said to me as she drove me back to the hospital. „Yeah, I will.“ I said back to her. She hugged me tight „Hang in there, and call if you need anything.“ „Thanks, Hannah.“ I said hugging her back before leaving the car. Walking back inside the hospital, I did think about Hannahs proposal. She was moving in with Thomas, and she wanted to leave her apartment to me. Wich wasn't a bad idea, actually. I liked the apartment, and besides, when Maya gets out of hospital, she would be more comfortable there than at the motel. And that one room has a nice big window, she would love all that natural light for her drawing. I chuckled to myself at my thoughts. Not im my wildest dreams was I expecting to be thinking of something like this, ever. But she changed me so much, she gave me hope again. She made it so that I felt like I finaly found my quiet place in all this chaos. She was the missing link I was looking for all this time. She became my everything. I entered her room with a smile for the first time after days. And I froze. Her bed was empty. It felt like my heart actually stopped beating for a moment, panic hitting at me like a truck. What happened? I was gone for a few hours, she was fine, what the fuck happened?! „Jake?“ I swallowed hard, turning my head to the sound of my name being called. My eyes swelled with tears, as hers locked with mine. In a few quick steps I came to her, carefully embracing her in a hug, burying my face to her neck. „Don't you ever scare me like this again.“ I said, unsuccessfully hiding my sobs. „I don't think my heart could take it.“ She released me from a hug, her eyes also full of tears. She rested her palm on my cheek, and I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, relieved to feel her touch again. „I knew you wouldn't leave me, that you'd come back to me.“ I said opening my eyes. She smiled at me, her voice raspy „I could never leave you. Nothing can keep me away from you.“ She kissed me then, the kiss salty from out tears. Doris sighed next to us „Oh, the young love..what a beautiful thing it is.“
Doris and me helped her back to bed and she tapped with her hand beside her for me to join. I got next to her and she rested her head on my chest. „How you feeling, angle?“ I asked her. „Tired“ she said „And in pain.“ „Don't worry, hun“ Doris said „I gave you some 'good stuff' now, it will help.“ „Thanks, Doris.“ She said with a weak smile, Doris winking at her before leaving the room. She stirred a bit, making herselff more comfortable „You won't leave, right?“ she said to me sleepily, the meds Doris gave her starting to work. „Ofcourse not“ I said, kissing the top of her head „You just rest, angel, I'll be right here when you wake up.“ She smiled and fell asleep instantly. I just stared through the window, the feeling of her steady breathing relaxing me. I felt my eyes getting heavier, and before I knew it, I too fell asleep.
Mayas POV
It was early in the morning when I woke up. I felt a bit better, but was still in a lot of pain. Jake was still sleeping. And even asleep, he looked tired, the rings under his eyes showing again. Doris entered the room, smiling at me. „Good morning, hun.“ She wispered to me as she came next to the bed checking on my IV. „'Morning.“ I said smiling back at her. She glanced at Jake „I was right about him after all.“ She said and winked at me. I chuckled silently „You sure wer, Doris.“ „Well, rest some more, hun. I'll be back shortly with your breakfast.“ She said, smiling at me again leaving the room. „What was that about?“ I turned my head, Jake looking at me sleepily.“It's not nice to eavesdrop.“ I grinned at him. „It was kinda hard not to.“ He said raising his eyebrow at me. I laughed „All right, you got a point there.“ He smiled at me, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. „It's good to see you laughing again.“ He got serious then „I'm sorry, angel.“ „What for?“ I asked. „For not being there with you.“ he said and sighed „I shouldn't have left you alone. I've let you down again.“ „Hey, that's not true.“ I said „I basicly forced you to leave, so if anyone is to be blamed, it's me then.“ „Even so, but I wasn't there.“ He said. „Jake“ I said softly, and he looked at me „Don't do this to yourself. It's not your fault this happened.“ I could see he was troubled with this. „Who is to say that the same thing wouldn't happen even if you were there?“ I asked him. „I can't, so please, don't torture yourself with 'what if's'. It happened, and I just want to move on, leave it all behind, now that it's finally over.“ He just looked at me „I don't know how you can so easily just move on.“ I sighed „Because, I don't want for it to take over my life. I want to focus on good things ahead of me, not dwell in the past.“ I placed my palm on his face and smiled at him „I want to focus on us.“ He kissed me softly, when Doris voice came from the door „Listen to her, dear, she speaks wisely.“ She said, winking at us. „She sure does, Doris.“ He said, not taking his eyes off me. She came to the bed bringing the food tray. „Now, lets get some food in you, hun. You will need it to get better.“ She said. Jake helped me to sit up, leaning on the pillow, Doris placing the tray in front of us. „I brought some extra, so there is enough for both of you.“ she said and winked at us, before leaving the room. „She sure likes you.“ he said to me as she left. I grinned at him „What to say, I'm just so darn adorable.“ He shook his head at me „And still impossible.“ I grinned even more „Even so, you still love me.“ He looked dreamily at me and smiled „More then you can imagine.“
The rest of my days in hospital passed fast. Jake was mostly with me, making sure to leave me with some kind of entertaintment when he left, either to help with Hannahs moving or for something else. He brought me his laptop, since mine got broken, with bunch of downloaded movies and books on it. Jessy also came to see me as often as she could. I was grateful for everything, but at some point all I wanted was some peace and quiet.
„Are you sure you don't want me to call Jessy to come?“ Jake asked me once more before leaving. „I'm sure“ I said „Don't worry, and don't get me wrong, but some alone time will be nice.“ „Humf, fine.“ He said „But call me if you get bored or anything and I'll be back right away.“ „I will.“ I said and smiled. He kissed me before heading for the doors. „See you soon, angel.“
With Jake gone, the room was quiet again, which was relaxing. I closed my eyes just apprieciating the silence, trying to get some sleep. But the nightmare was back. The images of what happened haunted my dreams repeatedly. Jake noticed it too, but I dismissed his worry quickly every time. He tried convincing me to talk about it with someone, anyone, even if it wasnt him, but I always said I'm fine, that it's not necessary. But he was right after all. I should.
With a sigh, I turned on the side staring through the windown, when a knock came from the doors. I turned, and laughed. A cute teddy bear holding a heart with 'Get well soon!' written on it was smiling at me from the door frame. The person holding it peeped his head behind it and grinned „Hello, gorgeous.“ „Hey, Phil.“ I smiled at him „I was worried you forgot about me.“ I said. He was the only one that hasn't visited me, at least till now. „That could never happen, gorgeous.“ He said walking over to me. „I just...waited for the right moment to come.“ He grinned sitting on the bed next to me. I laughed „So, Jessy informed you it's safe to come now, huh?“ I said raising my eyebrow at him. He grinned even more „Something like that.“ I shook my head „Well, I'm glad you came.“
„You know, my job offer still stands, gorgeous. I would still very much like you to do it.“ Phil said to me after a while. I chuckled „Can I at least get out of this place first? Then we can discuss it further.“ „Ofcours. I just wanted to let you know the offer still stands.“ He grinned devilishly and winked „Just so you don't forget about it.“ I laughed „Oh, don't worry, I never forget about the jobs being offered to me.“ „Good.“ He said and winked again. „Anyway, gorgeous, unfortunately I have to go now. Some of us don't have the luxury to lay in bed all day.“ He said getting up and grinning at me. He stood there for a moment, his face getting serious. He leaned then, embracing me in tight hug „I'm glad you're back with us, gorgeous.“ He said to my ear and kissed me on the cheek before moving from me. I smiled „Me too, Phil, me too.“ I took the teddy and grinned „And thank's for this guy.“ He grinned back „No worries, gorgeous.“ „Hello there.“ A voice sounded at the doors. Phil raised his eyebrow looking at me „Now it really is time I go.“ He smiled once more at me „Take care, gorgeous. See you soon.“ He turned and nodde at the person entering the room „Loverboy.“ Jake did the same walking towards my bed, looking extremely calm, and I was surprised. As they passed eachother, Phil stopped „Hey, loverboy?“ Jake turned to him and Phil's fist colided with his face, sending him to the floor. „Phil!“ I jumped in my bed, wincing instantly from the pain. Phil didn't even spare me a glance, he just leaned down closer to Jake „I told you to take care of her.“ Jake just looked at him, not trying to do anything. Doris bursted to the room „Phil Hawkins!“ she yelled „How dare you come to 'my house' and make a mess?!“ The two just continued to look at eachother, when Phil finaly straightened and turned to Doris with the most wide smile „Sorry, Doris.“ He said walking towards her „I owed him that.“ He gave her a quick peck on the cheek before heading for the doors „Hope I'll see you and the others soon at the Aurora.“ Doris shook her head after him „Schmack.“ She turned to Jake „You all right there, dear?“ she asked him as he got up. „I'm fine, thanks Doris.“ He said and she looked at him „Mhm, sure you are. I'm still gonna brig you some ice for that.“ She said and walked out. „I'm fine.“ Jake said to me seeing my expression. He came and sat next to me. „Thats was very unexpected of you. I was sure you would fight him back.“ I said and he looked at me a bit sad „Well, he was right.“ I sighed „Are we back to that again?“ „What? To me not looking after you? Ofcourse, I will never forgive myself for it.“ Now he sighed desperately „I'm sorry, angel, but I can't just get so easily over it. Maybe with time, but for now it still sits heavy on my shoulders.“ I saw how much all of it still bothered him, and I knew no matter what I might say he wouldn't listen. „All right“ I said after a moment „But, just promise me, you will try to let go off that. For me.“ He half smiled „I promise, angel.“ I pulled him to me for a kiss, and he winced. Doris came back giving Jake the ice pack. „Thank you , Doris.“ He said taking it from her. „You're welcome, dear.“ She said winking before leaving again. I took the ice pack from him „Come here you.“ I said and pulled him to lay next to me. Placing the pack on the spot that was really red by now and started to swell he winced again „Ouch!“. „I'm sorry.“ I said quickly and he grinned at me. „Ohh you, that was mean!“ He laughed „Sorry, angel, couldn't resist.“
„Ready to leave, hun?“ Doris asked smiling from the doors holding my discharge papers. „Definitely!“ I said cheerfuly. She came to me and hugged me „Now, hun, as much as I like you, I hope I'll never see you again.“ She moved from me and winked „At least not in here.“ I chuckled „I hope so too, Doris. And, thank you, again, for everything.“ „No need to thank me, hun.“ She turned to Jake and winked „Now, dear, you take good care of her, this one's a keeper.“ „You can say that again, Doris.“ He said back, and to the surprise of both of us, walked to her and gave her a hug. „And I also thank you for everything.“ He released her, and with glazing eyes she waved her hand at us „Oh, you two..get going now, before you get me even more teary.“ She smiled and squeezed us both on the hand before leaving the room „Take care, kids.“
Feeling the sun on my face as we stepped out from the hospital felt so good. „So, do you maybe want to go somewhere first?“ Jake asked me as we walked towards the car. „I mean, you were in there for quite a wile.“ I smiled at him „Yeah, thats true. But I still feel a bit tired. Maybe tomorrow.“ As much as I appriciated being out, I still needed to rest. But I also wasn't very eager of the thought of returning back to the motel. Not after all that happened there. He smiled back at me „As you wish, angel. We got to the apartment then.“ „Apartment? Not the motel?“ I asked surprised. „Ahm, well yeah.“ He started „I hope you don't mind, but I got all your stuff and took them to Hannah's place.“ He got a bit nervous „I mean, I am staying there now that she's moved in with Thomas. And to be honest, I thought you might feel...less uneasy there.“ I stopped walking, and he turned to look at me. „Everything all ri...“ But I didn't let him finish. I pulled him in a tight hug „Thank you. You have no idea how glad I am to hear this. I so didn't want to go back to the motel. Not after everything.“ I felt tears coming to my eyes. „I know, angel.“ He said, and a sob escaped me. Then another, and another. He hugged me tighter „It's ok, angel, everything will be fine. I've got you now.“ He just held me there in a tight hug, letting me cry on his shoulder, for as long as I needed it.
„Ohh, this room is amazing with all this natural light!“ I squealed as Jake showed me around the apartment. He chuckled „I thought you might like it. Hence that big table there.“ I turned grinning to him „You did this for me?“ „Ofcourse, angel.“ I rushed to him throwing my hands around his neck and kissing him, but winced from the pain in my shoulder. „All right, that's enough excitement for you for now.“ He said ushering me out of the room. He lead me to the couch, made me sit then lifted my feet up. „Now don't move from here unless it's really necessary.“ He said stern with a raised eyebrow. „Oh, come on, that's not needed.“ I said protestingly. He chuckled „Maybe, but just take it easy for a day or two more.“ I was about to protest again, but he looked at me, making such a puppy face that I couldn't possibly say no to him. „Argh, all right, although I feel fine, I'll do it for you.“ „Thank you, angel.“ He said and leaned to kiss me. „Now, can I get you anything? Drink, food?“ he asked and i grinned „Well, I would kill for a coffee.“ He laughed hard „Why I'm not surprised about that.“ He said standing up. „Well, since I'm not allowed to move from this spot, I hope you're ready to indulge my demands.“ I said grinning. He smiled „For you, angel, I'll do anything.“
-------------------------------------------------------------
3 MONTHS LATER
„Just come to the Aurora tonight, Jessy, I will tell you everything then.“ I said to her on the phone, as I entered the apartment. „Fine, be all secretive then.“ She said sulky. I laughed „No need for that tone, you know that won't work on me. I'm still not gonna tell you anything now.“ „Ahhh, fine! See you tonight then.“ „See you, Jessy.“ I entered the kitchen, Jake sitting at the table with his laptop. He smiled „Hey, angel.“ „Hey babe.“ I said going to him for a kiss. „How was with dr. Barret?“ he asked. „It was ok.“ I said sitting next to him. „It actualy feels good to talk about it with someone.“ I smiled „Thank you for talking me into doing it.“ „No need to thank me, angel.“ He said smiling back. I sighed „I hope it doesn't bother you that it's not you that I can talk to about it.“ He took my hand, pulling me from the chair to sit on his lap „I don't really care who you talk about it with, angel. Heck, I wouldn't care if you said you wanted to talk to Phil about it. As long as you get better.“ I laughed „Huh, you know, now that you mentioned it, they do say that barkeepers are a good listeners. So kinda close to psychiatrist.“ I tilted my head and said teasingly „It would definitely be cheeper. And beside, I'm sure Phil wouldn't mind listening to me, me being all vulnerable around him, and..“ „Ok,ok, no need to continue.“ He said quickly interupting me. „You just stick with dr. Barret.“ I laughed „Awww, babe, will you ever be at ease about Phil?“ „Probably not.“ He said thoughtfully. I smiled „Not even now, when I'm about to move in with you?“ He grinned „Not even then.“ I chuckled „You're hopeless then.“ He gave me a quick kiss. „Sooo“ he started grinning again„You think Jessy will be happy when you tell her the news about you moving here?“ „Happy?“ I said, „No, I don't think so.“ He looked confused at me, and I grinned „She will be thrilled.“
A/N: Ok, so after a short, but lovely chat with @lovingstudentangel who got a bit confused with how I ended the previous chapter, with the part of Jake visiting a grave, thinking it was the end of the story, so I want to clarifie it for her, or anyone else who might have been equaly confused. It was his mother grave that he visited, and I used that part as a clifhanger. I hope all is in the clear now :)

Drinks and Sunsets
7:00 AM (3 hours before the match starts)
“Renee!! Wake up please, there is breakfast!” Natalie shouted at the closed door infront of her. Renee had fallen asleep at an ungodly time trying to find out more about herself and well, it didnt work out the way she wanted. She groaned, squeezing her eyes tight while moving her arms up. She stretched and eventually popped her shoulder which caused her to scream but not really scream if you understand what I mean. She cursed at herself for not going to sleep earlier knowing that there was a game today. She sat up, shading her eyes from the window that shown the bright sun. Her head turned to the door when she heard knocks coming from the other side. “someone’s there” Renee’s voices whispered, echoing throughout her ears. “No shit sherlock,” She hissed.
“Wra- I mean Renee~ wait no- sorry. Renee are you gonna eat?” Elliot sputtered, clearing his throat. “Depends on what it is,” She sighed. “It’s uH..pancakes I think? I dont know, Ramya was chosen to be the one who cooks today. They looked..burnt,” He explained, shuddering from the thought of Ramya’s pancakes. “I guess, give me a minute to get dressed and I’ll head out. Wait for me?” Renee asked, getting up and walking to her dresser. “Uh..yeah, yeah I’ll wait for you. Dont worry about a thing..you worried cause I’m not..haha..ha..,” Elliot trailed off, sliding down to the floor until he hit his arse on the concrete. Renee chuckled to herself in his stupidity and got dressed. She wore a black tank top with short grey shorts and her black sneakers with her ankle high socks (black of course). She unlocked her door and peered over to the tall man crouched next to her door, falling asleep.
“Wake up Elliot, I thought I was the one to wake up hm?” She flicked his forehead, causing him to rub the spot where he was hit. “Ow ow ow- Why??” Elliot questioned, confused as to why he was hit. “You were gonna start drooling so..anyways, breakfast?” Renee pulled him up, almost falling backwards. “I mean that’s why I’m here right? Right? i hope Im right..,” Elliot trailed off again, starting his journey towards the kitchen with the small woman behind him. Everynow and then he would peek back to make sure she was still there and not inside a portal. “You’re safe with him” Renee looked up at Elliot, the voice echoing throughout her mind. “You like him dont you” Renee looked up at the ceiling and scrunched her face in annoyance, internally screaming at the voices. “I don’t, you guys always assume things,” she whispered, looking at the random framed pictures hung up on the wall. “Elliot!” Renee shouted at the still walking man. He jumped slightly and flinched, “y-yeah? What’s up?” “Kitchen is right here doofus,” She nodded her head towards the room, “How did you manage to miss this big ass room??” “I guess it was an accident, never done that before haha,” He sighed and apologized. The so called pancakes were sitting on a top of a white ceramic plate, getting colder by the minute. “I wouldn’t even dare to try them..I mean you could but- It probably wouldnt be good..,” He walked over to the counter, “If you want, I can cook somthing up for you?” “That would be nice thank you and uh..can you make me some coffee? You know how I like it already,” She sat down at the large dinner table, laying her head down. “Yeah I can do that for ya, anything you want in particular?” Elliot asked but was met with silence. He peeked over and saw she was sleeping soundly with her head in her arms. Elliot took off his sweater and draped it over her shoulders then went back to the kitchen.
8:37 AM (1:30 hours before the match starts)
“Breakfast is ready Renee,” he shook her gently until she stirred, “Mornin’ beaut- I-I mean um..sleepyhead..? Yeah..that’s the word..sleepyhead.” “Mmm..mor-“ She clears her throat and rubs her eyes, “morning..sorry I fell asleep I just didn’t get enough sleep last night.” She looked down at the scrambled eggs and toast that were neatly placed onto the plate infront of her. “It’s fine, I didnt wanna bother you because I thought you’d kill me,” He admitted, taking off the apron that was tied around his waist. He placed it on the hook next to the fridge where a stickynote was left by Octavio not to touch his jello. The only person he let touch his stuff was Natalie. Renee picked up the fork and began eating. “You should date him” “No,” She whispered, furrowing her brows as she picked up a piece of egg with her fork. She watched as the tall man made her coffee just the way she likes it; black with a little bit of sugar and creamer. She was never one to like sweet coffee like everyone else. He poured the jug’s contents into her prefered mug. He added the little things she liked and carried it over to where she was sitting. She thanked him with a small, almost unnoticable, smile. Renee sat there with her cup close to her nose, smelling the bitter coffee aroma. She cooled it before sipping it slowly, enjoying the taste of her morning coffee.
“Hey Elliot, do you know what time it is?” She questioned the other who was washing the pan. He checked his phone and replied, “8:52” Renee stood up and brought her plate to the sink after she was done eating. “Could you wash these for me? I need to freshen up in my room,” She handed him the plate, “thanks.” She started making her way towards her room; which consisted of one right and a lot of walking straight. But she never got tired of it since she was happy she lived comfortably with her friends. The 2 rooms that were next to hers were Natalie’s and Ajay’s. The boys were on the opposite side so in front of her was Elliot. The hallway she lived in held 6 legends at a time 3 girls, 3 boys. Renee’s hallway had Ajay, her, and Natalie and then Octavio, Elliot, and Tae. The others had their hallways, some with empty rooms for future legends. Natalie was never really in her room since she was always with Octavio. It was weird, seeing two polar opposites living together. Then there were Ajay and Tae, she managed to make friends with him. I’m pretty sure Tae is still annoyed but is warming up to her.
“Oh! Youre awake finally,” Natalie smiled, walking out of Octavio’s room, “You never woke up so I had to get Elliot to help me..” Renee stood there at her door with the key in the slot, “Yeah, Ive just been...thinking.”
“Hm, well I hope you get some more sleep. Oh and goodluck with the match today!”
“You arent participating today?”
“Non, Ive been feeling unwell for the past few hours”
“Why aren’t you in bed then?”
“Well, Tavi was getting Ajay but he hasnt come back yet”
“You should be resting Nat..”
“Im okay I swear! Pas besoin de s'inquiéter,” She smiled softly and weakly. She was still in the large shirt Octavio gave her to sleep in and pajama pants. She had a small nessy plush tucked into her elbow, being squished tightly. “Chica! Get back in the bed right now or else im going to llevarte allí yo mismo,” Octavio came back with soup and meds, shouting at the sickly girl. “Ah, Tavi.. Je suis désolé I was just wondering where you were.,” She hugged the plush closer to her fragile body. “Come here conejita, lets get you better,” He lifted her up into his arms, still carrying the supplies Ajay had given him, “When you are done being sick I am going to....”
“Lovebirds,” Renee sighed and closed the door to her room, preparing for the match ahead of her. She got her battle gear on and re-did her messy bun into a neat one. Her kunai rested on the counter, untouched in its holster. She picked it up and unsheathed it, smiling at the small sparks of void that emitted out of it. She put it away and hooked the holster to her belt. “You know you wanna be like them, you cant deny it” The voices teased. “You guys really want me in a relationship huh,” Renee flopped backwards onto her messy bed. She didnt have time to make it in the morning but now she can. She checked her phone and scrolled through her social medias. Elliot made her download them and every now and then, Elliot will make her post a picture or something. She always got tagged in fanart and random posts about her in the matches. She would occasionally like some and they would freak out and thank her. She scrolled through her tagged until she came across one post. It was fanart of her and Elliot, sitting together with their hands intertwined watching the sunset. Renee blushed slightly at the art. She saw that Elliot had already liked it, but seeing as he likes all posts that he got tagged in, it wasnt weird. She hesitantly liked it and turned off her phone. “Maybe I do like him” Her thoughts were interupted when someone knocked at the door.
9:34 (couple minutes until the match starts. The ship still has to arrive at the arena, World’s Edge)
“Renee! Get yuh ass over here ‘cause the match starts soon!” Ajay’s voice boomed through the door. Her footsteps could be heard on the other side as she walked away. Renee stood up and stretched while walking towards where Ajay just was. She opened the door to see Elliot walking out of his room. “Oh hey Ren..can I call you that? Im gonna call you that..anyways, hi. Wanna walk together?” She nodded, “Okay cool, lets start heading over before everyone leaves without us.” They walked in a comfortable silence over to their friends. Octavio was in a corner moping since he didnt have his love interest with him while Crypto spied on him from another corner. He was still mad that Nat rejected him a few weeks ago to be with Octavio. It was crazy hearing that he was sulking around in his room for hours on end. But back to the main girl in this story, Renee sat down on one of the couches that sat in the middle of the room. Everyone was ready to board the dropship to head over to the arena. Here is what was going around, Gibby and Ajay were laughing together,Octavio was..unenergetic for once, Tae was in the corner, Loba was fixing her nails while Rev watched her on the wall, Alexander was playing around with his gas, and lastly Ramya was chewing gum while playing on her phone. It was always bustling in the living space because its where everyone socialized other than the bar. A small yet loud alarm was sounded to let all the legends know it was time to board the dropship.
“Woo-hoo! It’s finally time to go,” Octavio said unenthusiastically. Everyone walked in one-by-one or in pairs. They all strapped up in their skydiving equipment and was prepared for the long drop ahead of them. Renee stood next to Elliot’s room in the ship while the others either went to their rooms or sat in the middle. (Reference back to the season 3 trailer for room placement) Renee was flippping her kunai peacefully while Elliot rambled about something in his room. She enjoyed listening to him talk about nonsense while the quiet humming of the ship was surrounding them. It was peaceful, atleast to her. It blocked out most of the voices and when she was around Elliot they seemed to shut up and occasionally tease her. The drop ship shook a bit and Elliot tripped a little but caught himself. Renee didnt mind turbulence since she didnt really care about anything really, she tenses up a bit sometimes but thats about it. Her scarf end swayed as the ship lowered slowly. Suddenly the screens flashed on and displayed everyone’s banners. Everyone gets a chance to customize and submit their banners to headquarters. The teams were as listed,
Lifeline, Crypto, and Gibraltar
Octane, Caustic, and Bloodhound
Mirage, Wraith, and Loba
Revenant, Pathfinder, Bangalore
Rampart
Everyone stood on their respective platforms also known as where the screens flashed their names. The champions were shown not even a minute later, Wraith’s team was shown and she said a voiceline to taunt her enemies of the day. The metal shifted under their feet and lowered slowly, revealing the bright, cold arena. Everyone at this point was used to the cold though, they were glad it was world’s edge because kings canyon during those months was scorching. Comms were switched on and everyone tested out the mics. Everything was set up and ready to go so teams started dropping towards their locations. Wraith was jumpmaster and pinged on the map, Fragment West. Everyone knew both of Fragment was dangerous and it was hotdrop that game too. You can bet that there were multiple death boxes surrounding the small yet large area. Wraith was already kill leader with 7 kills from the popular spot. Bullets were heard in the distance and Wraith portaled to gain some speed while Loba teleported and Mirage had to run. He wasn’t a running person for long distances so he just took wraith’s portal.
“W- Wait up you two! I dont have a movement ability!!” He cried out to the two girls. The two looked at eachother and giggled while looking back at the energy drained man. “Danger move” Wraith looked around and pinged an enemy and phased away out of danger. Again, Loba teleported away and Mirage was left alone to run away. They hit him good but he managed to get behind cover. Wraith lended him some shield cells and syringes and shot at the other team with her sentinel. The other team was Octane’s team and they were stacked; Octane had gold armour while his teammates had red evo. Octane also had a peacekeeper that he got from a carepackage just next to them. It was a long fight, from gas being thrown on them to the ring closing in on the two teams. They had been fighting for so long they didnt even realize that there were only 3 teams in total left. Wraith’s team, Octane’s team, and lastly Pathfinder. I would say Pathfinder’s team but his teammates died and the banner timers ran out, he was left solo.
“Everyone try to watch your backs, the robot could try to ambush one of us,” Loba turned to face her teammates, occassionally looked up and around for the tall simulacrum. “Spotted him, up there. He has a longbow and what seems to be a flatline on his back. I could snipe him down if that’s what you want,” Wraith calmly called out, pulling out her sentinel and charging it. “Go ahead beautiful,” Loba replied. In an instant, a loud, charged sentinel bullet was shot and killed the robot up on the hill, instantly eliminating him. Now, it was just Octane and Wraith’s teams left to fight. “Nice kill Re- I mean,” He cleared his throat, “Nice kill Wraith..” Wraith smiled and thanked him silently while eyeing down the other team. Seconds went by and both teams rushed eachother. Bullets whizzed by eachothers heads and occasionally hit their shoulders or legs. Octane’s team was low on meds while the other team was low on ammo. Another minute of fighting passes and Wraith’s team is deemed the champion. When they were back in the drop ship everyone congratulated them for winning even though they were in a tight spot. There was an after match party happening in an hour so everyone went back to their rooms to clean up after a long day and get dressed. Renee was first to her room to take a shower while the others stayed in the kitchen or hallways sparking conversations with eachother. While Renee took her cold shower, Elliot decided it was be such a good idea to just waltz into her room to ask her a question not knowing that she was relaxing without voices for once.
“Hey Renee! I was just wondering if you wanted to match for the uh..,” He paused, looking around, “Renee? Where are you??” He looked around the empty yet messy room. Clothes thrown everywhere and notebooks and hairties were strewn about. Her messy bed showing how much she slept that night, which it wasn’t much. He began to worry about her well-being and if she even actually took care of herself. He heard the loud shower running so he went and knocked on the bathroom door. But before he actually knocked, he thought about the things that could happen if he knocked on her bathroom door when she didnt even know that he was in her room. He’d be killed. Before he knew what was coming he accidentally knocked on the door infront of him like a reflex. He heard the girl inside gasp loudly with a few things dropping. He startled her, which was a first for him. He was in shock and did not want to move. “She’s like a T-Rex, if I dont move she cannot see me-“ He was cut off when the door swung open and a semi-dryed off Renee was standing in-front of him. She had her body wrapped with a towel and her still damp hair dripped along the floor and her scarred shoulders.
“How are you in here and what do you want,” She said firmly with an annoyed face. “One, your door was open, two, I wanted to ask if you wanted to match outfits for the after match thing..,” He sighed looking away, “Nevermind, it was a dumb question of course you dont.” He turned and apologized but before he could leave the room Renee stopped him. “Who said I didn’t want to? I wouldn’t mind matching with you,” She stepped over to her closet and sifted through the dresses section, “What color or style were you thinking of?” Elliot was astonished that she actually agreed to do anything with him. “I was thinking accents of purple..? I think it would look nice on both of us,” He sat down on a nearby chair in her room, looking away from her slender body. “Fine with me, now turn around,” She made sure he had his eyes closed and was turned around in order to change. She dropped the towel and peered back just in case. “You want him to see you” “Tell him to turn around” “Let him touch you” The voices were surrounding her but she managed to ignore them. When she finished getting dressed she had Elliot turn around.
“Wow..,” Elliot had no words for the sight in front of him. She wore a long black dress that had a slit on the side with a fluffy, purple boa draped over her shoulders and she was wearing heels making her as tall as him. She played with her hair a bit out of embarrassment while looking away. “You look..amazing,” Elliot was admiring her features that he acted like he’d never seen before, “I just- have no words.” “I dont look that good relax,” Renee walked over to her dresser and put on a necklace that had a purple gem in the middle. “Are you going to just stand there and not go to your room and get dressed?” Renee peered over at him from the mirror. “Right..right yeah, Ill be back to ‘pick you up’,” He opened the door and quietly shut it behind him. She sighed and thought out loud, “What am I going to do about him?” She put her hair in a half bun-half hair down sort of style and finished her look with mascara and a slight tint to her lips. She slipped on short black gloves and grabbed a clutch that had small purple accents on it. “He will like it” “For once you look nice” “People are going to judge you” “Nobody will approach you” “People are going to hate you” The voices started off nice but went downhill and piled hate after hate onto her. She pushed them away and mumbled to herself that tonight will be a good night. Light knocking was heard and she went to open the door, her heels clicking with every step.
“Ready to gooooo-“ He looked her up and down and smiled, “You’re beautiful” He tucked a stray strand from her hair behind her ear, “Let’s be on our way before the limosu- limosio- limo gets here.” He held out a hand and she gladly took it. They held hands for most of the way until Renee let go to check her clutch for something. She pulled it out and checked it before slipping it back in. It was her Apex ID, aka the only way to get into Apex events. You can be one of the legends but they wouldnt let you in without it since people knew how to look almost identical to them. She didn’t regrab his hand after that, she wanted to make sure no one saw. When they got to the front of the building everyone was in their formal attire. Octavio was wearing a green suit top with tailored shorts to go along with it and Natalie wore a white party dress that had orange and blue accents, Anita was in a classic suit talking to Loba who was in a short gold dress, Crypto was in a white suit with green accents, Rampart was in a blouse and office pants, Gibby was in a suit while Ajay wore a long blue dress, Bloodhound wore their goggles along with a suit that had a red cloth in its pocket, and Alexander wore a plain black suit. Revenant doesn’t dress up he said. Pathfinder simply went as himself for the night. After a couple minutes of waiting the limo drove up to the curb of the building. Everyone piled in close together and began conversations with eachother. Elliot and Renee sat really close together due to the limo being quite small for a bunch of legends. Some minutes pass and Renee’s eyes are starting to close. She finally let the sleepiness take over her and her head softly fell onto Elliot’s shoulder. He looked over at her and smiled. Most of the legends eyed them and mouthed for him not to move one bit or she would murder him.
“Elliot..,” Renee mumbled in her sleep, “I..love you..” The small sentence was only heard by the man allowing her to sleep. He tensed up but relaxed as her arm draped over his. The limo pulled up to the event center and a red carpet was dramatically rolled out for the legends. One-by-one everyone was walking down the red carpet either together or solo. Im guessing you can guess which ones walked solo. Elliot nudged Renee and she slowly opened her eyes. She yawned quietly and her eyes met his. They looked at eachother and then she backed away, standing up. She turned away and quickly walked out of the limo and Elliot followed shortly after. Elliot caught up and walked beside her while she covered her eyes from the flashing of the cameras. He enjoyed all the attention on him but Renee never did. He realized what was happening and walked directly infront of her, taking the spotlight. The taller put his hand behind his back and Renee allowed herself to grab and squeeze it lightly. He led her somewhere private and sat her down on a wall away from everyone else.
“You okay? I know you dont like the atten- attentin- eyes on you,” he knelt down, matching his eye level with hers. “I’m fine, you dont have to worry about me so much you know,” She sighed and leaned back slightly, “Let’s just get back to the others before they think were fucking or something.” Elliot offered a hand but she declined, pushing herself up from the wall. She swayed her hips with every step she took towards the doors. Her dress flowed down neatly from her waist down to the carpeted floor. He watched her walk away as the boa she wore bounced with her strides. “W- wait up Renee!” He yelled, fast-walking towards her but she was already through the doors. When he made it through, it was bustling with legends from other ports and random game organizers. There was loud music playing from speakers up above and most of the legends were by the bar including Anita and Loba. Others were either on couches or talking near walls with each other. There were people dancing in the middle of the room where flashing lights and more sparkled along the area. His eye caught the bright purple boa from across the room.
“Hey Ren, glad I finally found you,” He sat next to the now relaxed woman, “Let me guess, appletini?” She gave a side-glance towards him while she sipped the drink he guessed. It was her usual at the Paradise Bar so it wasn’t weird. Minutes went by and the found themselves laughing at eachother from stupid jokes and random stories. A slow-dancing song played on the speakers and everyone got with a partner.
“Wanna go dance with me Ren?” Elliot grabbed her hand, pointing to where everyone was partnered together. “I can’t really dance Elliot, I dont know if I could do it,” Renee responded back to him, covering her face with her boa. “Oh, come on you can’t be that bad at dancing. It’s not that hard, come on I’ll teach you,” He grabbed her hand and pulled her off the seat to take her over to everyone else. He brought her to the dance floor and held her close, guiding her hands to where they were supposed to be. He placed her hands on her lower waist and swayed side-to-side with her. “See? I told you it wasnt that ha-“ He winced as she stepped on his foot, “It’s fine, I forgive you since you’re a beginner.” She apologized anyways and held him closer. As the song came to an end everyone seperated except for them.
“This is nice,” Renee pulled away from his arms, “Want to go somewhere more..quiet?” Elliot’s face contorted to a confused yet happy expression. “I know just the place Ren!” He grabbed her hand and practically sprinted out the doors with her, bringing her to a cliff just off the side of the road. He sat down far away from the edge and patted the spot next to him, signalling for her to walk over and sit next to him. The sun was setting and it was the most beautiful thing that Renee had ever seen. “Oh wow Elliot..I never knew about this spot,” She couldn’t stop gazing at the orange and red hues surrounding the hot ball of gas. “My mom would take me here sometimes, from the sunset, the sunrise, and the stars oh my god the stars. She’d make them so amazing but one day she got so sick and she couldn’t take me anymore. So everytime we get to come here I come out here, to escape the whole legend thing and relax by myself. But now, I see two pretty things infront of me..the sunset and well, you,” He gently grabbed her hand and her reddish face was hard to see in the dark. She turned her head towards him and he smiled softly. “This reminds me of something I saw today, a post with a drawing of us. There’s just one thing missing to complete the scene I believe,” Renee saw him thinking and it looked like a lightbulb just turned on in his head. He leaned in and so did she. They closed their eyes and-
kissed
The scene matched the vibe of the social media post that Renee had randomly come across. It was a strange feeling to Renee, for she had never felt this way towards anyone before. Atleast, not a time that she could remember. Elliot had a goofy smile plastered on his face afterwards. She grinned and leaned on his shoulder as they gazed at the stars that started to peek from the horizon. “Alright yuh lovebirds, get yuh asses inside before we leave without yuh guys,” Ajay leaned against the door, watching them. “Oh, alright. We’ll be right there Ajay,” Renee looked over her shoulder to the other girl and smiled softly. Ajay nodded and closed the door behind her. Elliot was the first to get up and then offered a hand for Renee to grab. She gladly took it and he hoisted her up to her feet. She brushed off any dirt that may have gotten onto her dress. As they went back inside, no one really looked at them apart from quick glances. Anita signalled to them over at the entrance that they were leaving the event. They held hands as they rushed over to the group, not wanting to let go of eachother. Anita counted them and led everyone back to the limosuine so they could pile in the same way they did when they arrived.
(Back at the Apex Dormrooms)(Specifically Elliots Room)
The two were sitting on top of the bed in Elliot’s room, talking. Everyone had just got back to the dorms and they had rushed out so they could get some privacy. “So..what are we now?” Renee turned towards Elliot, who was fidgeting with his hands. He looked up and shifted into a more comfortable position to look at the girl next to him. He looked back infront of him and flopped back onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. “Whatever you want us to be, Ren,” His eyes glanced at her features from the angle he was in.
“I want to be...more than friends-“
“Best friends?”
“No-
“Best best friends..?”
“Elliot-“
“What?”
“I want to be together, as in I want us to date and do things that couples do,” her head turned towards him. “A-are you sure?? I-I-I mean I dont think Im that bad at being a boyfriend but are you really sure you want to be in a rela- rele- be with me???” He stammered, not knowing what to say. “Yes,” was all she had to say when Elliot pulled her in close to lay down next to him. He kissed her cheeks and her forehead multiple times before stopping to stare at her beauty. She giggled and smiled then held him down into a cuddle position on the bed. “This is what I’ve always wanted, despite me acting like I never did,” She admitted, tracing circles on the others chest. “Did you want to sleep here for the night? Or..we’re you going to go back to your room?” Elliot asked, but got no response from the other. Renee was fast asleep in his arms, snoring softly. Elliot smiled a loving smile and kissed her forehead lightly then fell asleep quick with the warmth she amitted.

Octane walked into Elliot’s room, knowing it was unlocked and because he was his best friend. He had his phone in hand, ready to ask a question about the future match. His eyes darted towards the bed after noticing that the lights were off. There, he saw his best friend with the stone cold girl, who never really showed emotion. He gasped quietly and opened the camera app on his phone. He snapped a picture but before he knew it, the flash went off and lit up the entire area of the man’s bed. Renee groaned and covered herself more with the blanket that was draped over her and Elliot. He quickly stepped out of the room where the couple rested and snickered at the photo he caught. His first thought was to post it, his second? To post it and then print it and frame it. He didnt want to seem like a bitch so he decided to post it with the caption, “Found the lovebirds mating LOL” Within a matter of seconds, the post flooded with likes and shares. Which meant that all if not most of the legends would see it. You bet that Elliot and Renee we’re furious when they both came across it the next day..

Tumblr media
“Wake up! It’s time for breakfast!” I grinned as a knee landed on my gut. I opened my eyes and saw Irene’s 11 year old cousin was jumping on us.
“Lucas, I swear to god if you don’t get out right now!” Irene teased, pushing him off of us.
“Geez, fine!” He giggled and ran out. “But it really is time for breakfast.” He yelled back at us.
“He’s lucky he’s young. Otherwise I might kill him.” I laughed.
“Come on, let’s get up.” We got out of bed and went downstairs. I smelled bacon and coffee as we entered the kitchen. There were sounds of glass clinking together and silverware being jostled around.
“There you two are, always the last ones up.” Mom was pushing around a large pan of scrambled eggs. “Irene go help your cousin set the table, Nina, honey, will you put some more coffee on? The aunts are guzzling it down.”
“Sure, mom.” Irene went to the table and I went to the coffee pot. The thing was already empty so I just loaded the new grounds in with the water.
“Did you sleep okay? I know you’re usually asleep technically right now.” I nodded, pulling out my own mug for when the coffee was done.
“I slept like the dead. Flying that long really wears me out.” She rubbed my back.
“I bet, but I’m glad you’re here honey. I didn’t want you alone on thanksgiving so far away.” I couldn’t help but hug her.
“Thanks, mom. For letting me come every year.” She kissed my head.
“You’ll always be invited.” She squeezed me and let me go. I went to help Irene with the table. I found her chasing her cousin with a fork and I rolled my eyes.
“Irene, stop tormenting your cousin.” Lucas had a smirk on his face though. “And you too, Lucas.” He huffed. The table was only half set, so I took the fork out of Irene’s hand and set it down.
“He’s the little brother I never asked for!” Irene teased and Lucas laughed. We finished the table and I had set my phone down somewhere.
“Lucas, did you see where I put my phone?” I looked over to him, he was standing across the table, my phone in his hand.
“You mean this one?” As he held it up it rang and I saw Henry’s contact fill the screen. “Oh look at someone’s calling.” Irene cackled while I moved to snatch the phone back. “Nina’s phone, who’s this?” He answered, running away from me. “Henry? Are you Nina’s British friend? I’m Lucas!” I rolled my eyes and he made it around the table to Irene. She stopped him, taking the phone away. Before I could thank her she put the phone up to her ear.
“Jesus Christ.” I mumbled, stopping my feet and rubbing my forehead.
“Henry, I’d like to personally apologize for my cousin. This is Irene by the way, Nina’s best friend.” I walked over to her.
“You’re so dramatic.” I punched her shoulder and took the phone.
“Hey Henry are you still there?” He was chuckling already as I put the phone to my ear.
“Yes darling,” I walked out and to the bathroom, locking the door behind me.
“Oh good. I would’ve hung up on all that.” He laughed again.
“No it was funny, plus I did say I wanted to meet Irene.” I laughed.
           “She wants to meet you.”
           “How old is Lucas?”
           “11.” I sighed. “But hey, what’s up?”
“I just wanted to see if you were up yet, ask how California was so far?”
“It’s good, we’re about to eat breakfast. I thought you’d be sleeping right now?”
“I’m staying up for a night shoot, I thought it’d work out if I called you now.” I smiled.
           “It did! How are you?”
“I’m alright, tired now that my schedules off.”
“Yeah, I’m just waiting for jet lag to kick in.”
“I know how that feels. Are you doing anything today?”
“I’m not sure what Irene has planned. I am going to see some friends at the company tomorrow, though.” Kari had found out through Abbey that I was coming to the states and she wanted to see me.
“Oh that will be good, just be careful? The protests are pretty regular there.” The protests had become a regular part of the news lately. LA did have it bad.
“I will, Irene’s family lives in the suburbs, so that’ll probably be the only time I’m in the city.” I heard Mom call for breakfast.
“Good, I’ll try to call you when I can and text.”
           “Thanks, so will I.”
“Go eat breakfast, talk to you soon.”
“Bye Henry.” We hung up and I went back out to eat. The table now had plates of bacon, sausage, and eggs, plus Auntie Jen and Auntie Jess were sitting at the table, both with fresh cups of coffee.
“There’s Nina,” Jen got up and hugged me. “You look beautiful as usual.” I smiled and went over to Jess to hug her, she kissed my cheek.
“There’s fresh coffee in there honey.” I laughed nodding.
“I know, I’ll get some.” Lucas came running in with a big glass of orange juice. “Woah, slow down, buddy.” He slowed to a walk and sat next to his mom, Jess. I went to fill my mug and saw Irene’s dad pouring two mugs, one of them being mine.
“Hey Nina,” He smiled at me over his glasses. “I got your cup.”
“Thanks,” I went to the fridge and got the creamer. I poured it in each of ours and he clinked our glasses together before we drank.
“It’s good to see you back here.” He rubbed my back and we walked into the dining room to eat with the family.
Irene ended up dragging me out to go grocery shopping with her so I wouldn’t fall asleep in the middle of the day. Henry did text me here and there, in between takes of his night shoot. It wasn’t a lot but it was all I could get for the time being.
“Irene, its just lunch, we’re not even leaving the building.” It was the next day and Irene was dropping me off at the company building.
“I know, but those protesters are there a lot. Especially lately.” I sighed, seeing the building up the street.
“I promise I’ll be careful. Plus security has been amped up a lot.” It was true security had been raised company wide. I had noticed the increase in it the last time I was at the building in London. It made me feel better, but more anxious at the same time.
“Just call me if you need anything. I’ll be here at two o’clock to pick you up.” She held the steering wheel fighters as we came up to the front door, four or five protesters with stupid signs were out front already. “Okay, nope, we’re going home.” Security was pushing them back from the door, but Irene was letting off the brakes.
“Irene, it’s fine. The guards can handle a few people with signs.” She huffed but stopped.
“I’ll call you when I’m here. Seriously be careful.”
“Thank you, Irene. See you later, okay?” I opened the door and hopped out. One of the guards held open the door for me as I ignored the taunts from the protesters.
“Freak!” I heard as the door shut. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath.
“Nina! Welcome back.” I opened my eyes and saw Kari standing at the front desk. “Sorry about all that. They’re all idiots.” I laughed as she pulled me to the elevator. “It’s good to see you!”
“It’s good to see you.” She linked her arm with mine. “Have they been bothering you guys a lot?” She hit the up button and we waited for the doors.
“Yes, they stand out there all the time. It’s obvious not doing anything so why don’t they just stop?” The doors opened and we stepped in, Kari pressing the button.
“I don’t know. It’s weird in London too.” She shook her head.
“Again, they are all idiots.” We made it up to her floor and walked to her office. “I got us burgers and they just got here.”
“Yay, thank you!” We sat at her desk and caught up with each other.
“Henry Cavill’s still your client right?” I nodded, picking at what was left of my fries. “How is that? I haven’t donated since I was in college, and when he sent in his paperwork I almost started again.” I chuckled, shaking my head.
“I mean, he’s like most clients. He calls me, he feeds.” She raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“Oh come on, what else? You donors get to meet all these celebrities all the time. What’s he like? Please tell me he’s as charming as he looks.” I giggled at her dramatics.
“He is really charming.” I rested my chin on my hand and my elbow on the desk. “He never pressures me into anything, which is great.”
“Has he bought you lots of things? Abbey told me about this trip she went on once.” I nodded. Irene texted me then, saying she was on her way, but traffic was bad. I furrowed my brow, we were well past the lunch rush, but there could be an accident or something.
“Yeah, he bought me this beautiful dress for a wedding he took me too, here I think I have a picture.” At some point during the wedding the photographer had taken photos of us and Henry had gotten his hands on it. It was just us talking. I was looking up at him and his hand was moving as he explained something to me. “He surprised me with the dress and the bag-“
“Nina, you look like a couple!” I couldn’t help but smile. “You look beautiful!” She took my phone and I saw her zoom in. “You’ve got some cow eyes for Henry too.” She laughed at me and I punched her shoulder. “Seriously, you both look good.” She handed me the phone back. “Do you like him?” Her brows raised, but she was smiling.
“Well yeah, apparently I have cow eyes.” She rolled her eyes. “I only showed you the picture to see the dress.”
“And you thought I wouldn’t notice the rest of the picture?” She laughed. “My advice is to tie him down before it’s too late.” I joined her laughter as we started cleaning up our trash from lunch.
“How long are you in town for?” We walked to the elevator.
“Just for the week. I’ll fly back-“ Kari’s phone rang and she sighed.
“Hang on.” She answered it and I went over to the windows to see if Irene’s car was out front. My eyes widened as I looked at the street below. The group of protesters had multiplied and weren’t happy. Security was holding them back, but there were a lot of people. I gulped when I saw a man push a guard down.
“Kari-“ I was going to call her over here, but an object flew out of the crowd, I couldn’t figure out what it was. I squinted my eyes as the protesters looked up. I backed up as I realized what it was. The firecracker hit and shattered a window only yards away from where we were standing. Kari screamed and I pushed her back the the way we came as the the thing popped so loud my ears were ringing. Smoke filled the hallway as we ran. I wasn’t sure where we were going, but Kari grabbed my wrist, pulling me faster. I choked on the smoke as she pulled me into the stairway. The echos of our feet and coldness of the concrete walls made me shiver.
           “Nina, what was that?”
“A fucking firework.” I still didn’t believe it.
“Security told me to go back to my office and lock the doors, but that was before the firework.” She held her head. “Oh my god, Nina, what’s happening?” My hands shook.
“Is there somewhere else we can go?” There were tears in her eyes as she thought.
“A few floors down there’s a janitorial room that locks.” I grabbed her hands.
“Okay, let’s go. Just keep it together until then.” She nodded, but I wasn’t sure if I couldn’t hold it together. We jumped out of our skin when we heard a door slam at the bottom of the staircase. “Does this lead outside?” Her eyes widened as we heard loud footsteps and voices coming up the stairs.
“Yes, shit, let’s go.” She pulled me down two flights and burst through the door at the last one, all while the protesters got louder. We ran as fast as we could through another floor of offices. “It’s on the other side of the floor.” Kari ran faster and my hand slipped from hers. We ran past more windows, staying close to the opposite wall. Kari got farther head of me and as I sped up a window shattered in front of me. I stopped so hard I tripped and fell, cutting my arm on glass. Before I could get up I saw what broke the window, Another firework. I scrambled backwards, trying to find my footing. I barely got to my feet before it went off. I covered my face and felt the smoke surround me. Popping and sizzling and the choking smell of smoke invaded my senses. The ringing in my ears got higher in pitch and I couldn’t heard much. The smoke was clearing but my chest forced coughs up my throat. Someone grabbed my arm and I turned to see Kari. She sounded muffled, but she was telling me to follow her so I clutched her arm for dear life and she took me to the room we were looking for. She slammed the door shut and locked it. I had to sit down, I found some folding chairs and got one.
“Nina? Are you okay?” Kari turned to me. “Oh my god, your arm.” She walked to me and pushed my ripped sleeve up. The cut was bleeding and pretty big. I couldn’t really feel it yet, but I knew it hit me sooner or later. “I think you need stitches.” I leaned back and she found a rag. “Put pressure on it.” She chewed on her lip as she look at me.
           “Kari, it’s okay.”
“No it’s not! Those assholes hurt you. God, you wouldn’t even be here if I hadn’t begged you to go to lunch.” I shook my head.
“I agreed to be here, Kari. This is not your fault. It’s those crazies.” Suddenly we heard voices and running outside. I pressed my lips together and Kari pressed her ear on the door. I jumped when my phone rang and I scrambled to turn it off. It was Irene, but I couldn’t talk. I tried texting her but I heard a voice clear as day outside the door.
           “Dude, the cops are here.”
“Fuck, let’s go.” More footsteps fading away and I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. Irene called me again and I answered.
“Nina! What the fuck is going on? There’s smoke coming from windows and there’s protesters running everywhere.” She was crying, I could hear it in her voice. “Please tell me you’re okay.”
“I’m okay. I’m locked in a janitors closet, but I’m okay.” I tried not to stare at the white rag turning red on my arm. “You need to get back home. It’s not safe.”
“No way. I’m coming to get you.” I felt a lump in my throat form.
“Irene, no.” If she got hurt here, I’d never forgive myself.
“I can’t just leave you there. Like you said it’s not safe.” My eyes welled up.
“I know, but if you try and help me we’ll both be stuck here. Or worse.” I shuddered. “I’ll try to text you when I can, but I gotta go.”
           “Nina are you sure-“
“Go home. I’ll be okay.” I hung up before I started crying. “Please go home Irene.” Kari had been texting someone as I spoke, she was shaking a little so I got her a chair, my arm beginning to throb. “Sit.” I told her and she did.
“Cops are outside, I texted security where we are, they’ll be here soon.” I shut my eyes and leaned back. “How’s your arm?”
“It’s fine. I probably need to get it looked at though.” My phone buzzed again and I saw notifications from news websites I follow. I clicked one and saw a live video of outside the building. Protesters were running off as police filled the area. The street had been blocked off, and police were detaining whoever they could. I closed the video and shut my eyes.
“LA PD, anyone in here?” We had been completely silent as we waited for the police. Kari ran over to the door and unlocked it.
“Yes, we’re here.” She opened the door. “My friend, she’s hurt.” Two cops were on the other side.
“There are EMTs downstairs.” The cops took us downstairs and EMTs had set up in the donations lab. Kari sat with me as they cleaned my arm and thankfully just stitched it there. It hurt bad now that the adrenaline was gone. No one was majorly injured. A donor did have to go get some burns looked at but she was going to be okay.
“You guys can wait here. I think the police need to ask you guys some questions.” I huffed.
“I just want to go back home.” I mumbled. I’ve also had the urge to call Henry since the cops found us, but I didn’t want to worry him. It seems like I’d be busy for a bit anyways.
“Hello, ladies.” One of the cops from before walked to us. “If you don’t mind answering some questions for us. I can take one of you over to my partner.” Kari stood.
“I’ll go first. Nina, I can get you home after all this okay? We’ll leave as soon as we’re done.” I nodded and she let the man lead her away. I started a message to Irene, but Henry’s contact lighting up my screen interrupted me.
           “Henry?” I answered it immediately.
“Nina, oh my god. I just saw the news. We’re you in the building today?” I sighed.
“Yeah, I’m still there now.” I heard movement on the other end.
“What? Are you alright? What’s going on?” I looked down at my bandaged forearm.
“I’m okay. The cops are here and it’s settling down.” I scratched at some soot on my jeans. “I’ve been wanting to call you.”
“I’m so glad your okay. I needed to make sure. Do you want to tell me what happened?” I swallowed, but explained everything. He sighed as I finished.
“God, I could fly over there right now if I didn’t-“
“No it’s okay. I’m fine. I’ll be back soon. Fortunately a little cut doesn’t ruin a vacation.” The bandage covered half my arm, but he didn’t know that.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” I took a deep breath, seeing Kari and cop walking back.
“Yeah. I’m okay, Henry. I think I need to talk to the police now. I’ll talk to you soon.
“Alright. If you need to talk, just call me, okay?” We said goodbye and I answered the questions from the police. It didn’t take long and I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
“Come on, Nina. I can take you home.” The cops took us to the back where they were sending everybody home through. Kari lead me to her car and we drove mostly in silence.
“Are you okay, Kari?” I asked her as we turned on Irene’s street.
“I should be okay soon. Are you?” I nodded and she pulled into Irene’s driveway. Irene was standing on the porch with Mom. “Have a good Thanksgiving. Hopefully that’ll keep our minds off things.” I pulled her into a big hug and got out.
The two women on the porch hugged me as soon as I was in reach. I squeezed them tightly as I tried not to cry. “Come on, sweetie, let’s get you cleaned up.” Mom pulled me inside, arm around my shoulder. Irene held my hand and followed us inside. I let them bring me upstairs, the cousins and aunts in the living room staring at me as we went. I told them I just needed to shower and lay down. Mom squeezed my hands and left. Irene lingered and hugged my neck.
“I’m glad you’re okay.” She let go and walked off.” I swallowed down tears and went to the bathroom. After my shower I shut Irene’s lights off and got in bed. I dialed Henry’s number and pressed my phone to my ear.
           “Hey Nina. You home?”
           “Yep, finally.” He chuckled.
“How are you? I mean-you don’t have to answer that.” His sudden stutter made me giggle.
“Well I feel better after getting all that soot off me. Kari and I probably stunk up her car.” I pulled my phone away and put it on speaker. “Speaking of her, I should make sure she got home.” I sent her a message as Henry spoke.
“That’s a good thing at least.”
“I’m just sitting in the dark now. I need the quiet.” I shut my eyes.
“By the way, try to avoid social media. It’s everywhere right now.” I huffed.
“Thank you, and thanks for answering.”
“Of course, it’s good to hear your voice.” I couldn’t help but smile.
           “Yours too.” I whispered.
“When do you get back to London?” He huffed.
“Saturday, I think.” I couldn’t think of the time difference right now. “I’ll be back and complaining about jet lag in no time.”
“I can’t wait.” We talked for a little while and I had to hang up before I fell asleep on the phone. I shut my eyes and it didn’t take long.
“Nina,” Irene was shaking my shoulder as I opened my eyes. “it’s time to eat.” I got up and followed her downstairs. I really hoped everyone would act normal tonight.
“Nina, can I see your stitches?” Lucas came from the kitchen holding a bowl of spaghetti.
“Jesus Lucas!” Irene punched him and I laughed.
“It’s fine, I’ll have to change the bandages eventually so you can see them then.” He grinned and walked off to the living room.
           “Sorry,”
“It’s fine. He’s a kid. I’m just glad he’s not being weird.” She furrowed her brows.
“He just asked to see your stitches.” I shook my head and pulled her to the kitchen where the pot of noodles sat on the stove. Irene and I got our bowls and went to the table.
“You better eat that entire bowl, Nina.” Aunt Jess poked my arm. “We won’t have that arm ruin thanksgiving.” I shook my head.
“It won’t. It’s not that bad anyways.” Well it did hurt quite a bit, but I’d take some painkillers soon. “They told me to go to the hospital until the stitches need to come out.”
“I think we’re all just glad you’re okay. That everyone’s okay.” Mom came in last, and we all ate.
“Next time I see one of those stupid signs, I’ll beat the crap out of the son of-“ Irene’s dad started
“Honey, not at the table. Let’s just eat, Nina’s had enough of protests for the day.” I smiled at mom and she happily changed the subject to Black Friday shopping. We ate and the packed table of people made me feel a lot lighter than when I first got back.
I tried focusing on Thanksgiving a lot more, wanting to get my mind off of everything else. I spent the next day grocery shopping for Thanksgiving with Irene and her mom. Irene decided to let me help her with desserts and by seven that evening I was elbow deep in flour. Irene was rolling out another pie crust while I poured the last of the wine in our cups, adding another floury handprint to the mix of them on the bottle.
“Have you heard anything about the article?” Irene had a splotch of flour on her cheek. I set her glass down next to her and went back to the dishes I was washing.
“No, my editor emailed me and I thought maybe there’d be something but she was just checking in after everything.” I sighed. “Which was nice, but I want to know what she thinks of everything.” I wore gloves so my bandages stayed dry. “This is the worst part. I hate not knowing what she thinks. Waiting for her response.” I shook my head.
“Well, I know I’ve only read snippets, but I love it. And Abbey seems so cool. I can’t wait to meet her eventually.” I smiled.
“You’ll love her. She wants to meet you too. And we have to go out when you two meet.” Irene turned around.
“Oh my god, it’s been so long since we went to the bars.” She pouted.
“I know! Look we’re wine drunk let me just buy you plan tickets right now and you come back to London with me.” She burst out laughing.
“I wish!” She rolled her eyes. “But we should plan something maybe I could get some time off in January?” I nodded, grinning at her.
“Yes! Just say the word and I’m buying the tickets.” By the time we finished the baking and cleaned up most of the house had gone to bed. We snuck up to Irene’s room and got ready for bed.
“How crowded is the house going to be tomorrow?” I asked Irene as she got under the covers.
“Very, why do you think we made so much dessert?” She rattled off a few relatives and I sighed. “You’re really okay right?” It was dark and I couldn’t make out her face.
“Yeah, I think so.” I sighed. “I’m just glad it’s over and that’s it’s almost Thanksgiving.” She chuckled.
“Me too. I’m glad you’re okay too.”
I woke up on Thanksgiving to Irene getting shoved out of bed by Lucas. I laughed with him as she grumbled, running her hands through her messy hair. “Your mom says to get up.” Lucas ran out of the room and I helped Irene off the floor.
“He’s the worst part of Thanksgiving.” She stated.
“Shut up you love him.” I patted her back. “Come on, we gotta get ready before everyone gets here.” We got dressed and ended up sharing a bathroom to do our makeup. I was focusing on my eyeliner as Irene danced to some song in the mirror. Suddenly my phone buzzed, almost falling off the toilet, where it had to go to make room for our makeup. Irene was closer so she grabbed it.
“I think its your editor.” She handed it to me, and I furrowed my brows. I took it from her and answered.
“Hello?” I stepped out of the bathroom with only one eye done.
“Nina! I’m sorry to call you today, but with everything going on I just thought I’d let you know early. Your article was amazing and it’s most definitely going on the site.” I broke out into a grin. “I love this Abbey girl; she’s going to kick the series off wonderfully. I see why you picked her.”
“Thank you so much. I’m so happy you liked it.” I jumped a little, already wanting to tell Irene.
“I want to talk everything through once were back and settled after this week.”
           “Yes, just let me know.”
           “Happy Thanksgiving, Nina.”
“Happy Thanksgiving!” I hung up and went right back in to tell Irene.
“Well what did she say?” She set her curling iron down.
“She likes the piece, and she wants to make it a series!” Irene cheered and hugged me. “Irene! This is great!”
“It is! Congrats, Nina!” She rubbed my back. “I think this deserves a celebratory shot.” I laughed and Irene ran out of the bathroom. I shook my head and went to my phone to text Henry. Call me if you can. I want to tell you something. I sent and went back to my makeup. Irene came back up with two shot glasses filled with clear liquid. “Vodka okay?” I cringed, but nodded, taking one from her. We clinked our glasses together and swallowed it down.
“Yay!” I set my glass down.
“I say we get hammered today.” Irene began pouring another.
“Irene, your family is about to be crawling over every inch of this house. I can’t be slurring my words by three p.m.” She only shrugged. “Whatever, I’m not taking care of you later.” We finished getting ready and when I went downstairs, I told everyone the good news. I got a big hug from Mom and a kiss on the cheek from the aunts. I tried not to think about a reply from Henry. He probably was sleeping. I hated different time zones and busy schedules. Turns out that the booze helped keep my mind off it and I was tipsy as I heaped food on my plate. Irene giggled as she handed me the spoon for corn.
           “Someone’s buzzed.”
“So are you.” I nudged her elbow. We sat together and tried to eat a little of our buzz away. It turned into eating ourselves into food comas, falling asleep on the couch. I slept through my phone ringing, but when I woke up and saw it was Henry I groaned. I tried calling him again, but he didn’t answer. I huffed and rolled my eyes.
“You’ll talk to him soon don’t worry.” Irene had rolled over in her spot on the couch. “Just go back to sleep.” I put my phone down and pulled a blanket over me.

Sunny And Newt
So i’ve decided to start writing a Newt X Reader series because shut up.Let me know if you’d like to be added to the series taglist. :)
Tumblr media
Warnings:This series will talk about eating disorders, depression and sex.
The day was quite bland. It was a bit warmer than usual but nothing unbearable.Everybody was still a bit tired seeing as though it was very early in the day and no one had eaten breakfast yet.
At the time everyone was getting dressed in their normal attire of stained shirts and worn down shoes. The cooks were busy in the kitchen, hurrying to put food on plates and put them on tables.
The menu was the same as every other day, bacon and eggs.Newt pulled on his tank top and hoodie tiredly, walking slowly down the hall of the homestead and down the hall.He was always the first to the kitchen, after the runners of course.
The runners always left before anyone even got to breakfast. He opened the kitchen door, dragging his feet as he took a plate and sat at a table.Time always went by slowly so he wasn’t quite sure when you walked in.
It could have been anywhere between two minutes and twenty minutes. You opened the door as quietly as possible, closing it behind you as you hoped your presence would go unnoticed. You succeeded,Frypan and Gabe not even noticing you had walked in.
Youwalked slowly, carefully placing each foot in front of her before approaching one of the plates of food.Newt watched you, confused from the back of the kitchen.
You took a single piece of bacon, slipping it into the pocket of you hoodie. You looked back over to make sure the cooks didn’t see as you took one more piece of bacon from a separate plate before picking up the original plate.Your hands were covered by your long green sleeves as you tiptoed to a table in the far left corner.
You slowly placed the plate on the table, trying as hard as you could not to make a sound. You then picked up the chair, moving it before carefully putting it down. You then sat in the chair, taking the bacon from your pocket and putting them on your plate.
You let out a small, quiet huff.Newt was still looking at you.You had just stolen bacon and gone unnoticed, that was a job that deserved a medal.Your tired eyes glanced over at his corner before locking on him.
Your eyes went wide for a second. You placed a finger over your lips.He squinted, shaking his head. You rolled your eyes, looking over at the cooks one more time before picking up a piece of bacon and tiptoeing over to his table.
You held the bacon out to him, trying to bribe him into silence. He took it with a small nod, trying not to grin. You then carefully went back to your seat, eating your bacon.By now boys were filling the kitchen, sitting down and taking their plates.
It went as it normally did,Chuck sitting with you while the others chose seats randomly.Alby sat with Newt,The Builders sat together at one table while the medjacks sat with Newt and Alby.
They were all talking but Newt wasn’t listening, still focusing on his interaction with you.He had only talked to you twice at most since you had arrived three weeks before.
He didn’t know much about you,no one did except for Chuck. No one even knew you real name,Chuck just started calling you Sunny one day and it stuck. He had given you that name because of your ‘vibe’ which made Newt wonder if you ever remembered your real name.
you had come up in the box very differently than everyone else, wearing clothes that were probably five times too large for you and socks with rainbows on them.He watched from across the kitchen as you flipped your eggs onto Chucks plate, saying something to him in the process.
you then got up,walking out of the kitchen. No one else noticed,no one watched you leave except for him and Chuck. How was it that you were the only girl and the boys didn’t look at you all the time? Now that he thought about it,you were quite pretty.
Your eyes had a twinkle to them and the way you’d bite your lip and scrunch your nose when you were confused was something he always found adorable. You really were something special.
“I think I’m going to go start my work early, see you guys later.”Newt said quietly, picking up his plate and placing it in the sink.He headed out the door, seeing you make your way to the med hut.
Now he didn’t know what to do.How was he supposed to talk to a girl he’d barely ever spoken too?you turned around, looking over at him.He stiffened, not knowing what to do.you turned back around, continuing to walk until you disappeared into the med hut.He remembered the day three weeks ago when you was found in the box, asleep.
Gally had been the one to carry your unconscious body to the med hut, accidentally dropping you onto a bed.you hadnt waken up for three days. But when you did wake up with Newt and Alby in the room you had just sat up,scratched the back of your head and declared that you really had too pee.
Once you had used the bathroom,Chuck gave you the tour and it was decided that you should sleep in the homestead and not in a sleeping bag or a hammock like the others. It was kind of weird but you ended up sleeping on a bundle of blankets inside of Minho’s closet.
Minho said that you could sleep in the bed with him but you were fine in the closet.Newt sighed as he started to pull out the weeds he had missed the day prior. One was particularly difficult, when he tried to pull it he ended up scratching the entire side of his arm on a rock.
He got the weed out, cursing as he looked at his arm.He had seen plenty of boys get scratches and bruises on purpose, just to be able to have you take care of them.He groaned as he stood up,dropping his small shovel.
He made his way over tot he med shack. He didnt want you to think he was one of those boys that got hurt on purpose. He walked in,seeing you laying on your back on one of the beds as you stared at the ceiling.
Your arms were behind your head.He stood to admire you for a few minutes, you looked so calm.Your head turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow. “DUde,how did you get hurt already?”you laughed quietly. He smiled and shrugged, holding out his arm.you sighed, sitting up.
“Get on the bed.”you spoke quietly as you stood up,getting some bandages and peroxcide as well as a small towel. He sat down on the bed, looking at the floor.you moved the stool over so you sat in front of him. “How the hell did you do that?”you smiled. He laughed quietly, looking away from you.
“You see, there was this rock. And it decided to bloody attack me.”He said softly.you poured some of the peroxcide on the towel, wiping his arm. “DId you get revenge?”you asked. The peroxcide made the scrape bubble,it was kind of nasty. He nodded.
“Yeah,I totally did.”He answered. He became kind of nervous, your face was so close to him.you unrolled the banadges, wrapping up his forearm. “Hey,can I ask you a question?”He asked.you nodded, focusing on the bandages. “DId you ever remember your real name?”He asked.
you sighed,a smirk growing on your face. “You’re named after a lizard and you think the name Sunny is weird?”you smiled as you tucked in the end of the bandages. “So Sunny is your real name?”He asked.
you shook your head, putting the peroxcide and bandages back in their spot. “Nope,Chuck just came up with it.Why?”you asked. He shrugged. “I guess its kind of just unfair that we call you something other than your name….Do you just not like it?Your name,I mean.”He huffed.you shrugged.
“Its just boring. You still have twenty minutes until work actually starts.Do you want to take a nap?”you asked. He shrugged. He had just woken up not to long ago,he didnt need a nap yet. “Id rather talk to you.”He said bravely.you rolled your eyes, sitting back on your stool.
“Okay, but why do you want to talk to me now?”you asked.you had a point,he hadnt ever tried to talk to you before. He didnt know how or why he had a sudden fascination with you. “WHy not?”He asked. Her eyes narrowed and you smiled a bit. “Alright then. What do you want to talk about?”you asked.
He thought about it for a minute. “I dont know.Wanna play 20 questions?”He asked.you nodded. “Um...how tall are you?”He asked.Your entire face heated up and you shook your head. “Come on,you have to play the game.”He laughed.you just shook your head.
“You can ask anything else except my height,Okay?”you asked. He nodded. “Can I ask you a question now?”you asked. He nodded, smiling. “Um...whats the stupidest thing youve ever done?”you asked, resting your elbows on your knees.
He thought about it.In two years he had done a lot of stupid things. “I went into the kitchen at two in the morning to make a sandwhich and Fry caught me.”He answered.you bit on your lip, holding back a laugh.
“What about you?Whats the stupidest thing youve ever done?I mean it cant be that bad, youve only been here for a few weeks.”He said, lying on his stomach and putting his arms under the pillow as he looked up at you.
This bed was a lot more comfortable when you was in there.you smiled awkwardly. “Itriedtosummonpeterpan.”you said quickly,he couldnt even understand you.you talked really fast, like really really fast.
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, looking up at your face.you covered your face with your green sleeves. “You did what?”He asked.you looked up at him,the red of your face contrasting against your eyes. “I tried to summon Peter Pan.”you repeated slowly. He smiled from ear to ear, laughing.
“Well thats one way to get out of here.”He laughed.you scrunched up your nose for a second. Now that he was really close to you he realized that you had one single freckle on the bridge of your nose. “Shut the hell your face.”you grumbled. With a sudden wave of confidence he spoke his next words. “Is that where you came from?”He asked with a smile. Her eyes widened.
“Yep!And thats where youre going too.”you answered sarcastically. He blushed. “Whats your favorite animal?”He asked. “Me.”you answered almost immediately. He squinted.
“Okay, youre my favorite animal then.”He answered. The questions went on for a while before you checked your watch and frowned. “You gotta go to work.”you told him.He sighed, sitting up. “Alright,i’ll talk to you later.”He answered,a wave of sadness going through his body.
“Ok,dont drown.”you said in a serious tone.He looked over at you. “Ok.”Was all he answered before waving from the door as he left.Once you was sure he was gone, you flopped onto the bed and buried your face in the pillow.
you had just talked to Newt for more than 30 seconds.you had just talked to someone for thirty minutes straight. Not only that, but he heard her when you talked. That hardly ever happened.Well damn, now you felt awkward.Maybe it wouldnt be the best to talk to him like that again, you didnt want to catch any feelings.

Pretty Little Secret (Pt.1)
-------------------------
Virgil awoke to slobber on his face, Merida sitting on the bed next to him. The air smelled fresh, as it always did when summer was starting. Virgil could practically feel the salt from the ocean on his face when he sat by the window.
His parents were out on a meeting today, so he could have the window open so long as he only called out for help in an emergency.
"Did they leave food out?" Virgil said, resting a hand in Merida's soft fur. The low growl in response was enough to tell him that he would have to ask a servant for help yet again. He grabbed onto a nearby wall until he found Merida's leash and vest, he heard her footsteps approaching him and knelt down to help her into her uniform.
"Alright, can you go grab my binder and some clothes? Then we'll go get food," Virgil said, patting the dog on the head. He waited a while before he felt a few types of cloth pressed into his hands.
Some people found it silly that Virgil still tried to present like a boy, after all, it's not like he could see himself, so most people thought he wouldnt have had a problem with not passing physically. But of course, most of the townsfolk were cis, so they didnt exactly get the idea of passing socially.
Virgil finished up getting dressed under Merida's attentive eyes and grabbed her leash, heading downstairs one foot at a time.
"Ah! Good morning Virgil, same breakfast as always I assume?" The cheery voice of Virgil's favorite servant Genere sounded from the kitchen. Genere, like Virgil, was trans. Though she had the bonus of a husband who could shapeshift anything he touched. She'd once offered to give Virgil a man's body so he wouldnt have to worry about unsafe binding or voice control or misgendering, but he'd declined the offer, as it wasnt much consequence to him if people werent respectful, so long as he felt comfortable.
"Morning Gen, yeah, same as usual," Virgil said, sitting down at the table, Merida's head resting on his lap. A few minutes later and the smell of blueberry waffles reached his nose.
"There we go! Now dont eat to fast, I dont want you getting sick," Genere said, ruffling Virgil's hair. Virgil nodded slightly and got started on his food. It tasted amazing, as usual.
"So do you have any ideas for today?" Genere said from the kitchen, Virgil heard the clattering of pots and pans.
"I might hang out in the garden, I think everyone's in a meeting so I doubt I'll get caught," Virgil said, smiling at the thought.
"Oh! They have the most wonderful new rose bushes- I bet they smell lovely," Genere said, giggling slightly.
"Honestly I just like how close they are to the ocean, sea breeze smells nice," Virgil said.
"Dont get any ideas about swimming, if you want to go out you call me or Gen," Virgil heard heavy footsteps and the sound of Genere's husband Zain's voice.
"I wooooonnnnnnttttt, I fell in on accident once!" Virgil said, pouting slightly.
"Better safe than sorry," Genere said. Virgil finished his pancakes and stood up, following Merida's lead out of the house.
He walked along the shoreline for a few minutes, feeling the breeze in his hair and a few stray splashes of water against his skin.
"Wish it could be like this every day. . ." Virgil said sadly. Merida made a noise somewhere between a whimper and a growl.
"Wanna go walk in the garden before we have to go back?" Virgil said quietly. Merida tugged slightly on her leash, Virgil took that as a yes.
The garden was Virgil's favorite part of the Royal Sector, the smell of flowers, the sound of birds overhead. It was peaceful, and Virgil liked peaceful.
But sometimes peaceful didnt last. In this case, Virgil had been walking in the garden with Merida for all of one hour before something ran full force into him.
"Oh gods I am so sorry-" the person's voice was high-pitched and nasally, like they had something stuck in their throat.
"I-I uh-" Virgil sat there for a moment, still in shock, before he finally decided to take off running with Merida.
"Wait! I didnt mean to scare you!" Virgil blocked out the other person's voice, focused more on getting home before he was ratted out. He stopped when he felt a hand close around his arm, Merida shoving herself between he and the other person.
"I'm not going to hurt you-" Virgil recognized the voice now, Remus Kingsley, brother of Crown Prince Roman Kingsley.
"I know I shouldnt have been in the garden- please dont tell my parents," Virgil said, a hint of begging in his voice.
"Look, as attractive as you look begging me for things, I'm not going to rat you out, I'm not supposed to be out either," Remus said, Virgil could hear the sound of his feet shuffling as he shifted his weight.
Virgil stood there for a few seconds, slightly bewildered. "But- you're the prince- why wouldnt you be allowed out?" he said, tilting his head slightly.
"Less prince more born at the same time to the same mother as the prince," Remus said bitterly.
"Oh. . ." Virgil said, tilting his head down.
"So why dont you want to get caught out?" Remus said quizzically.
"I'm not supposed to be out alone, even with Merida, my parents dont like the idea of people knowing their only child is both blind and trans, they think it means they've angered the gods," Virgil said, biting back the urge to lie to a man who could likely chose whether he lived or died.
"No offense but your parents are kinda garbage," Remus said bluntly. Virgil bit his lip to hold back his laughter.
"Well- they're sending out some nobles on a peace meeting, maybe you and I can hang out more then? If your parents end up leaving," Remus said.
"Actually. . . I wouldnt mind that," Virgil said, smiling slightly. Merida let out a bark of agreement.
Virgil had never known anyone outside of his house very closely, but maybe it would be nice to have a friend like Remus.

Ooh Baby Baby *Buck series*
Tumblr media
I don’t know if your taking request, but if you are, could you do another buck x S.W.A.T reader the teams meeting the new baby? -@stat89posts
You're eight and a half months pregnant, and as much as Buck wants to be home with you on maternity leave, you refuse to let him knowing he can't sit still for anything. The only problem is you can't sleep without him in bed with you.
This particular day, you've been uncomfortable all day. You decided to start putting the stroller together to keep yourself busy while your favorite show played in the background.
You stared at the finished product, where your dog and cat laid fast asleep, testing it. You looked at the time noticing it was later than usual and Buck still wasn't home. Feeling the exhaustion hit you, you headed to your room to change before climbing into bed and sitting there on your phone, rubbing your stomach whenever you felt a kick, slightly wincing when some were stronger than others.
When Buck finally got home you could barely keep your eyes open. "Hey, get comfy. I'm just going to change."
Once you feel the bed dip under his weight you're out like a light. Buck watches you for a minute, his hand on the belly where his daughter is growing, smiling when he feels a soft kick under his hand, "I can't wait to meet you either baby."
Sometime in the middle of the night you feel yourself stir awake, that uncomfortable feeling more intense now. You groan as Buck wakes up, rubbing his face, "What's wrong?" You look at his face as he let's out a yawn, "Nothing, just uncomfortable. I'm just gonna walk around for a little bit, stretch my legs, see if the movement gets her to settle down." Buck nods watching you pull yourself out of bed before falling back on the bed, when you hear his tired humming you smile to yourself before walking across the room a couple times before you hear the sound of water hitting the floor, making Buck shoot up, "What was that?" "I think my water just broke."
You watch as he shoots up in panic mode, "We have to get to the hospital." "Buck relax. We need clothes on first, I'd prefer some not soaking in vagina liquids. Then we grab the hospital bag and go."
He helps you change your bottoms, before sliding shoes onto your feet and helping you down the stairs. When he grabs the hospital bag he looks at where you're standing taking deep breaths, "You don't feel any contractions?" "Oh I'm definitely feeling them, but your panicking enough for the both of us."
As he drives, he's constantly checking to make sure you're okay, he can tell the contractions are getting stronger because you have your eyes closed as you keep breathing.
When you're finally in a hospital room and have been given an epidural the doctor tells you you're almost ready to push. The last thing on your minds is calling anyone to tell them.
A few hours and some screaming later, the two of you finally have your baby girl in your arms. And as much as she looks like you, despite her dad's bright blue eyes, she's already a huge daddy's girl. You watch as he takes her around the room talking to her before it hits him, "We didnt call anyone." "Call Maddie. We get discharged later today and you have the day off. When you go back to work we'll take her to meet everyone. Athena is always there for breakfast anyways. And I'll think of something for my team."
30 minutes later Maddies walking into the hospital room, a small stuffed rabbit in her arms. She can't hide the smile on her face when she sees her younger brother holding her niece. "Shes a precious little thing. What's her name?" You smile, "Evelyn." She ends up staying with you guys, following you back home to help you settle in, and to get some bonding time with the newborn.
The next day Buck looks at you as you both enter the firehouse, you can hear everyone's voices in the kitchen, thankful you can sneak in. Buck heads up the stairs first, everyone greeting him as you wait on the stairs just out of view. "Buck you want any pancakes?" "Uh sure. First I want you guys to meet someone."
You walk up the rest of the stairs the team looking confused when they see your head pop up, "Y/N-" they all stop when the see the baby in your arms and your bump gone. Athenas the first to speak, "Is that?" You can only smile showing her face to everyone as they close in to get a look at the new addition. "It is, she decided to surprise everyone and come early. Little Evie." Buck helps you sit down as everyone passes the newborn around, already having them wrapped around her finger. Eddie jokes, "Good thing she looks like her mom, we can't have another Buck running around."
Athena sits with you, "You didnt call anyone?" "No I didnt even realize they were contractions until my water broke, by that time Buck was already home and freaking out enough for the both of us. We didnt remember until she was already here, so we just decided to bring her and surprise everyone." Athena laughs, "She's definitely a surprise alright. You tell your team yet?" "No. I asked them all out for lunch, told them I'm craving Italian. Gonna walk in and surprise them."
You watch as everyone gushes over her from your spot, until the bell goes off. Buck quickly hands her to you, before kissing your forehead. You watch as everyone climbs into the trucks, waiting until they're out of the building to play the sirens. Athena rubs your back, "If it wasn't for those blue eyes, I'd say shes your mini me." You laugh looking at the girl who's looking at everything around her, "Right. But she's already a huge daddy's girl. The only time she stopped crying was when she was eating or on his chest."
When lunch comes around, you end up getting to the restaurant first. Chris and Jim are the first to arrive, Chris having to do a double take when she sees the baby in your arms, "No. Is that my niece?" You smile letting them pull you into side hugs before letting Chris take Evie into her arms, "Yeah. She didn't want to wait." Jim jokes, "Impatient like her mother." You swat at his arm with a laugh as they both coo over her, "What's her name?" "Evelyn. Buck hated it at first, but hes the one who suggested it after she was born."
The next person was Jessica, who was quick to give you a congratulations. Deacon and Tan arrived, immediately noticing your bump was gone they quickly pulled you into a hug before their attention was taken by your child.
Luca and Hondo arrived together, Luca stopped dead in his tracks getting excited, " No! Shes here?!" You laugh as he quickly wraps his arms around you before he makes his way to the group, "Its my turn to hold the little angel." Hondo pulls you into a hug before letting go, leaving one arm around your shoulders as you stare at your team all fussing over who's turn it is to hold Evie. "So you mean to tell me you went and had a baby without telling anyone?" You chuckle at his joking tone, "To be fair I didnt even know I was having contractions until my water broke. I was more focused on giving birth than calling everyone. So we decided to surprise everyone."
As everyone eats, Evie now in your arms, they all ask you questions, "Wait so you didn't know you were having contractions? And you were having them all day?" "Yeah. Like around noon I just felt uncomfortable, I thought she was just kicking and I was like its getting close to the time shes supposed to be due so maybe shes just getting more active. So I distracted myself. Buck came home around maybe 11 and we went to bed. I woke up super uncomfortable and it just felt like she was moving around and doing flips. They didnt feel like contractions until after my water broke. I was in labor for maybe 15 hours even if I didnt realize it."
Chris gasps, "We were supposed to have a surprise baby shower for you in a couple days." You laugh, "Looks like she beat you to the surprise."
Chris still holds the baby shower, just now with a guest of honor. Both the firehouse and swat are there at the park, along with their kids. Christopher taking a strong interest in Evie. "Buck are you sure you're her dad? She doesn't look like you. Y/N did all the work." You can't hold in your laugh as Buck makes a face at the kid.
As you sit down, taking a break from being a human bottle, you look around at all the people who've you've come to love. The people, you can already see have so much love for your daughter, who's not even a week old yet.

Finding You
It was already spring, the trees already shown their young leaves and with just a matter of days probably the flowers would bloom. The day was a lot warmer, Soyong was sitting in under the gazebo, eyes looking at the blue clear sky and one of her hand caressing her much protuded belly. Line of maids were standing by at her side, patiently waiting Jungjeon Mama.
Hongyeon looked at unsettled Mama worriedly, if she hadn't lost count it might be the 42 times Mamanim let some small sighs. She wondered what was Mamanim really thinking or even bothered her but she couldn't ask and let Mama sunk deeper to her thought.
"Mama, it has been hours since you were sitting there, Mama probably should go back to Daejojeon Hall since it is quite chilly here. It was Choi sanggung.
"Aniya, I am not yet done here."
"Mama, it is not good for you and your baby to sit long outside."
Soyong didn't respond.
"Mama, is there something bothering you?" Hongyeon finally asked, too impatient to know the truth.
Soyong finally turned her head to face Hongyeon, "off course," she answered with a weak smile.
"You know you can always told us," said Hongyeon.
"It is nothing big, I just feel empty recently maybe because the pregnancy. Anyway Choi sanggung is right, I should go back and rest."
Hongyeon ran hurriedly to assist Mama stood up and walked down. Not long after someone ran hurriedly over them, Soyong squinted her eyes to see who is it.
A person from King's chamber.
"Jungjeon Mama, you should come with me to King's chamber," she said.
"What happened? Is there something happened to Jeonha?" Soyong asked hurriedly and worriedly.
"Yes, Mama. Jeonha was found very sick in this early morning, Royal Physician already tended him but he said he was in a high fever and quite delirious. Jeonha was calling Mamanim in between, so Head Eunuch asked me to fetch you in case you want to come."
"Off course I should! Choi sanggung, let's go to King's chamber now!"
---
He was indeed looking rough, Soyong felt like all the blood in her veins were drained looking at him, she hurriedly came over to his husband side and touch his face. It was scorching hot.
"What is it?" she asked the Royal Physician.
"Mama, he is in high fever but I can't found other clue of what underlying problem from the pulse and blood rush, I think it is not something dire but still if the fever not tended it will make his body worsened."
"Do you know what caused it?"
"I already asked the royal maids here about what he had eaten night before, I don't think it was coming from food poisoning."
"It was probably something else. Head Eunuch, did you saw whether Jeonha had consume something outside his regular meal?"
"I don't think he did, he even not really ate a lot recently. But he was busier..." Head Eunuch trailled his answer but Soyong probably not really care because she already knew.
She knew Jeonha seemed so much busier these days, it was probably two weeks? Or more, she guessed, she kind of lost track because sometimes she was quite busy herself. Or better she made herself busy. It was so incruciating how it felt different with Jeonha recently.
Sometimes when they were together, Jeonha looked down a lot, like something weighing his mind, she did say he could share whatever bothering his mind but he answered nothing so Soyong couldn't pushed more about it.
"Mama, it is probably he was under a lot of stress by the account of Head Eunuch. I already ordered my pupil to make herbs to cooling down Jeonha's fever and regain his energy. I hope you are not worried too much."
Soyong turned herself to Royal Physician, "thank you for your effort, I will tend him myself."
"But Mama, you should rest with your condition," Choi sanggung interrupted.
"I know but I can't let him be, don't you think? Let me tend him right now and I promise I'll go back to rest tonight."
Choi sanggung only sighed silently,if that what Jungjeon Mama wanted then she should obey it. "Alright, Jungjeon Mama."
---
2 or 3 hours later, Jeonha's condition seemed much improved. His fever was decreased and he seemed calmer, in before he called her plenty of time in his sleep. Soyong was responding to each of his call, holding his hand close to her heart but seemed that didnt make him calmer first but he eventually did so.
Soyong sighed in relieved, she sit back and touched her belly again. It was so intense that she almost forgot she is pregnant if not because her protuding belly. She felt bad.
"I am sorry, my child," she apologize. "Thanks god your abamama make it."
Soyong relaxed a bit before tidying up the potion tools and tray before tidying Jeonha's blanket. She looked around after, she just realized it was quite a mess, books here and there so she tried to rise up herself and tidying up some books. Not until she took that navy blue colored book.
Queen's dictionary.
She smiled. Yes, she remembered.. Bonghwan memories imprinted well enough to hers, she remember what was in it even without have to open it. She remembered what Jeonha wrote and how it wasn't really what Bonghwan really mean.
She chuckled, as if she was experienced it first hand though herself didn't really understand all the modern terminologies. It made her wonder... ever since, how Bonghwan living right now. Hopefully he is good.
She opened the dictionary delicately, she knew it is Jeonha's very prized possession since he brought it here and there. Suddenly it disturbed her, ever since Bonghwan gone.. probably Jeonha never been able to add new term, right?
She put the book on the table absentmindedly, she quite hesitated to continue to open another page but she did. It was the latest page after some couple new words that Jeonha added. It was one word after some collumns.
"Bogoshipda," she incited. Suddenly she felt a pang in her heart as she progressed to open the next page, hoping that there is not another word there.
It was, 'neon nuguya?' that made Soyong felt like part of her is gone. Is it the thing that bothering Jeonha recently? Was this it that made him down in high fever? Why was it feel like the question directed at her? Was she scared?
The truth was, she is indeed felt restless ever since witnessing something different in the way Jeonha looked at her. In before Jeonha always said she was different, way too poised and formal, but she just brushed it off as a tease, since Jeonha talked about it lightly as if it was nothing.
Was that it? The thing that bothered both of them?
Was it because she couldn't come around to Jeonha about whom she shared the body with? Was it necessary to tell him? What would it be if she told him the truth? Was she scared because Jeonha will not like her as she is now compared to before? Was it wrong if she was being herself? Would it better if she mimick Bonghwan's attitude? No she can't, she definitely can't be that level rudeness.
She sighed in frustration, she felt like she gonna cry and lost herself again since she felt that Jeonha liked that version of her more. She closed the book and turned herself back to his side. She pondered while watching Jeonha. While his fever is gone already and he peacefully sleep, now she was the one who striked by the storm. She sighed as she looked at Jeonha. She caressed his face slowly. "Is that the thing that made you like this, Jeonha? Do you miss him?"
She sunk deep into hert thought, something crossed her mind but she laughed it off. "That's impossible, Kim Soyong. You never can called him back again, that so foolish of you." She sighed then.
"I am sorry, Jeonha." Is the last thing she said before retreating to her own chamber.
---
Wonbeom opened his eyes slowly, felt sores from all his body it made him uncomfortable. He looked around and found Head Eunuch was sitting at his side.
"Jeonha! You are awake! Let me fetch Royal Physician for you," he then rushed to the maids outside to fetch the Royal Physician.
He stared at the ceiling, feeling weak and kind of powerless. He embarassed that he abused his body to the point of him passed out just because so many things was bothering him. Well not so much aside the court affairs, it was just that one thing. One thing that bothered him so much that it kind of bleed his heart and mind, that made him questioned many things.
The Royal Physician finally came and directly checking his condition. He sighed in relieve. "All is well, Jeonha. You just need couple of hours to regain your energy. Please do eat a lot to replenish it."
"I understand," Wonbeom replied weakly.
"Then I should get back. Please be well, Jeonha." The Royal Physician retreated back.
"How do you feel, Jeonha?" Head Eunuch asked while helping him to sit back.
"A lot better but still dizzy. What had happened after I passed out?" Wonbeom asked.
"Not so much, there was no problem at the court so don't worry. Also, Jungjeon Mama was here yesterday, tending you all morning and got back to her own chamber to rest."
He stared at his eunuch, "She came?"
"Yes, Jeonha. I was the one who asked Mama to came since you always called her in your sleep."
He did? Off course he did, after all it was her that bothering him so much.
"Do you want me to fetch Mama here?"
"No, no, not now. Let her rest for now, I will come to her this afternoon if I feel better."
"Then I'll go fetch your breakfast."
"Alright."
After Head Eunuch walked away, he laid back on his bed and thinking. Actually before he passed out he almost come to conclusion himself, he was going to met her and talk everything but he collapsed. "I hope she rest well today, and I should be better as soon as possible before come to her," he said before shutting down his eyes.
---
It was a little late from his prediction, it was already dusk when Wonbeom finally gathered himself. He wondered if the time is ideal if he gonna meet her, but he has to.
The Queen dictionary was on his hand when he walked away from his room, announced Head Eunuch and the maids that he gonna come to Queen's Chamber. He was in rush after he collected himself back from the bed and found his room tidied up but the Queen dictionary book was on the table, before it was on the floor, it meant that she read it. She read what he wrote in the end.
He was in front of her chamber when he looked suspiciously at Choi sanggung who paced back and forth with restless Hongyeon at the side. The Eunuch announced King is coming and it made both of them panicked.
"Jeonha!" said Choi sanggung, a bit louder than she intended to do so.
"I wonder," he said, "... something happened?" he asked. Choi sanggung and Hongyeon looked at each other.
"Jungjeon mama is not inside," Hongyeon said.
"Is she gone somewhere?" Wonbeom asked worriedly, this should not be that.
"She was still here at the morning, she said she lost one of her ring and told us to search the gazebo and when we were back she wasn't here. We searched around and couldn't find her, we lost her. We... I am so-sorry, Jeonha."
His heart dropped after hearing what Hongyeon said, he had predicted it but unfortunately he was late, she was gone before he could met her. But perhaps it was not like what he thought about right? She didn't go to the lake, again, right? Oh god, please not. He felt his legs became weaker but he gathered his power to ran off to the lake.
"Jeonha, i think Mama is not that careless to get drown into the lake," Head Eunuch said when they were arrived at the site.
"I hope so, since she carried a baby, she shouldn't that selfish, right?" Wonbeom tried to convinced himself while darting his gaze into the lake. Part of him sure that she didn't jump but part of him wanted to dived into it. But before he tried to move, he heard Yeongpyeong-gun called him from afar.
"Jeonha!" he ran faster to Wonbeom, "What are you doing here? I was seeking you at the Seonjeongjon Hall but you weren't there."
"I am searching for Jungjeon, she was gone without announcement," he said worriedly and looked back to the lake.
"That is..." the Prince trailed away, ".. I am sorry, Jeonha. Jungjeon Mama asked me to escourt her to Jaganim* place, I couldn't refuse as she pleaded me so bad."
"Jaganim? Jo Hwajin?" Wonbeom asked and Yeongpyeong-gun nodded. He exhaled a big relieved sigh upon hearing what really happened. "I was so scared," he said, a bit disoriented but Yeongpyong-gun caught him before he collapsed to the ground.
"What is she doing there?" Wonbeom asked.
"She didn't tell and I didn't dare asking, but for sure she is safe there," Yeongpyeong-gun answered. "Mama asked me to come back and relay her message to you, that she said sorry for not asking permission and will deal later with any punishment when she is back."
Wonbeom snorted, "What punishment..." he trailed. "Alright, it is relieving that she is all okay. Did she told you how long she will be there?"
"Mama only said that she won't be long. She only needs to confirm one or two thing, that's what she said."
He sighed again and wonder what kind of thing that Jungjeon need to confirm with Hwajin.
"Let's keep it to ourselves for now, don't make it big as I don't want the court hear this. Let's go back to Seonjeongjeon."
---
"Mama!" Hwajin ran off closer when she saw Jungjeon Mama was standing in front of her house along with Yeongpyeong-gun at her side.
"Why you come to my place? What happened?" she asked Yeongpyeong-gun in confuse, worried if there was another thing happened in the palace.
"Don't worry, Eui-bin, there is nothing happened at the palace. I just want to meet you." Soyong said.
"Me?" Hwajin felt more confuse. "In what occasion?"
"I need to have a heart to heart talk, is that okay with you?"
Hwajin felt so flabbergasted, this wasn't feel like the first time but still felt like a first time. "I am all well for that, Mama."
"Alright then. Yeongpyeong-gun, can you go back and tell Jeonha, I wouldn't be able to comeback this night and I'll deal with everything later when I back."
Yeongpyeong-gun couldn't react at first but what could he do in this moment? "Alright, Jungjeon Mama."
"Thank you very much, and I am so sorry to bother you with this."
"That's alright. Then I have to go back. Please be safe."
"Don't worry, Yeongpyeong-gun, I'll take care Jungjeon Mama here," Hwajin interrupted. Then after some nod, Yeongpyeong-gun walked away. "Mama, I hope you don't mind to be in my humble house."
"It doesn't matter of the place, don't worry."
"Then let's come in," Hwajin said and escorted Soyong inside.
Both sat inside the main room of the house, Soyong scanned around, "This house looks decent enough," she said and faced Hwajin who sat in front of her. "How are you, Eui-bin?"
"Don't call me that, Mama. I am not a consort anymore."
"Then... is that okay if I called your name? Hwajin?"
Hwajin let a contented smile upon hearing her name, "It sounds good."
"If that so, you can call me Soyong," she proposed and it surprised Hwajin.
"I don't dare to do that," Hwajin refused.
"Please? We are not at the palace and I am here to meet you as woman to woman or as a friend, wasn't that we are back when we are children?" Soyong said.
Hwajin looked down quite a while. "But our history..."
"That's not relevant now because you are the only one I can think about, if I can't meet you I probably will go crazy."
Hwajin dumbfounded with Soyong's words and then she laughed. "As expected."
"What expected?" Soyong asked.
"It's nothing. So why are you here, Mama--i mean, Soyong?" Hwajin stuttered.
Soyong inhaled quite a bit before she spoke, "I want to learn how to be brave."
Hwajin went blank, "Pardon?"
"I refer to your confession to Jeonha a while back," Soyong trailed. Hwajin just oooh-ed. "I need to learn from you."
There were so many questions popped in Hwajin's head but there was none that she could ask so she just simply answer Soyong's question instead.
"I don't know if I am the best person you ask. I am not sure that was called a bravery or not, I just.. I just feel I have to challenge myself. My worst self at that, so I won't crumble into a person that I don't even know anymore," Hwajin said. "And I had enough to living under pretentious for years."
Both dropped in silent. Soyong with her own mind and Hwajin looked right into Soyong.
"I wonder why you asked that when you are the one that taught me that." said Hwajin.
Soyong furrowed to recall what Hwajin meaned.
"The lake, the day when you confronted me to the hell and back?" Hwajin pressed more.
Soyong remembered. "That.. that wasn't me."
"That wasn't you?" Hwajin repeated.
Soyong grinned, "Yes, ever since I came back from death I wasn't myself. It... it was someone else." Hwajin furrowed in confusement. "Until recently I wasn't really there, I was hidden right here," Soyong pointed at her heart, "and all the things done in the Palace after I became Queen, that wasn't me. The one who turned Palace upside down wasn't really me. The one who Jeonha infatuated and love with wasn't really me."
Hwajin taken aback but then patched Soyong's word one by one still couldn't grasp the whole meaning.
"Did you... being possessed?" Hwajin asked.
"No... I..." Soyong closed both her eyes and sighed. "It was a soul of a man I met when I was in the verge of death. I brought him back to life inside of me to help me... to help me cope with everything."
"So... two souls inside your body?" Hwajin tried to grasp what she said, a bit disbelieved to said that.
"Yes."
"And now?"
"He had long gone already. The last time I feel him inside was when the coup happened then I came out. I remember all the things that happened, word by word, touch by touch, but I wasn't in control. I think I only existed as memories, I was hidden all along."
Hwajin just kept in silent, trying to digest every unbelieveable facts that Soyong spoke about.
"So, what are you scared off now? Since you are now in total control of your life and body?"
"Because... I think Jeonha like that version of me. Actually, I felt a bit distant recently, I think he realized I wasn't that previous Queen."
"So you wanted to ask but you don't have courage?"
"Yes. That's why I ask you how."
Hwajin smiled. "Truthfully I still in disbelieve, and may I say that was nonsense. But you say you were hidden right in that place," Hwajin pointed at Soyong's heart, "when the fact that bravery and many good things also come right from that place."
Soyong dropped in silent.
"I think that was still you, you just don't want to acknowledge it." Hwajin continued, Soyong quite disagree but she didnt said. "Or if you really sure it was someone else and that person that Jeonha like, then you can just ask him."
"That's why it is not easy," Soyong mumbled.
"There is nothing you should worry, Jeonha is a forgiving person unless it is his real political enemy." Hwajin thrusted her hands to take Soyong's to make her less worried, "Jeonha loves you, I know, I can guarantee that." She smiled. And Soyong smiled.
"Thank you, Hwajin."
"If anything, you can come here if Jeonha deposed you," she teased. And that was the first time of the week that Soyong laughed.
---
It was already afternoon and there was no sign that Jungjeon already back. Jeonha paced back and forth inside Daejojeon Hall, waiting patiently (but it almost ran out) for her to comeback.
It was the maids greeting that made him stop pacing and ran out to get her. Just when he saw her figure he ran faster to hug her.
"Jeon... Jeonha?" she asked in surprise.
"I miss you,” he said, Soyong became more flustered. “Don’t try to be gone without telling me anymore!” he continued. Soyong let out a weak smile.
“I am sorry, Jeonha, but I really need to be away for a while,” she answered. Wonbeom let go of his hug.
“I think we have something to talk about.”
“Yes, we are. So let’s go inside.”
It was a custom that King always sit on the main seat and whoever under him will sit in front but Wonbeom pulled Soyong to sit at his side. Like he was really impatient or maybe he just being himself
“First of all,” Wonbeom started while still holding Soyong’s hand, “I would like to say sorry. I am sorry to left you out from the picture recently, I am sorry to make you worried when I passed out. I have my reason and I would like to tell you why but I passed out.”
Soyong couldn’t react, she didn’t expect something like this. First, she thought Jeonha would still try to recover or maybe he would still avoiding her. Second, she hasn’t ready yet, her plan was to come to him later of this day or tomorrow morning, so it kind of beat her to it.
“The reason I was avoiding you because I was in great confuse, which I didn’t even know why I confuse at the first time. Then I found it, because I think you are quite different with whom you are months ago… the one that make me realize I was wrong about you, the one that shook my heart, the one that slapped me to actual fact with her brazen but very true words. I wonder, I wonder if you are not the same person as before and my doubts become more apparent after I remember, you ever said that you were not the same person, a man instead, modern man. How true is that, Jungjeon?”
Soyong tried to hold her tears, she was going to say a thing but Wonbeom beat her again.
“I realized then it might be true. You were a different person, the one who possessed so many informations about the future, so I think maybe I love that person? But no, when I look at you, the now you I still feel the same way. I still love you, I still care of you, and when you were gone I was thinking if you were jumped into the lake again. If you did, I probably can’t continue to live normally. Whatever inside of you, you still the person that still and will have my heart.”
“Jeonha…” Soyong whispered his name, cheek already wet from tears that she couldn’t hold back when she listen to all of his words.
“I’ve loved you Soyong, ever since before you are a Queen.”
Soyong gasped. What?
“And I swear I will love whatever version you will be.” He kissed her hand.
She finally couldn’t contained herself, she cried. A lot, that Wonbeom suddenly panic… if he said something wrong, but he let her to cry first.
“His name is Jang Bonghwan,” Soyong finally said after calming herself down. “And it was true, he was inside of this body after I tried to suicide.”
Wonbeom was quite taken aback but not really surprised as he already prepared for such answer.
“I was so scared to live but It was scarier to die, he was there and I was so desperate to came back but I also didn’t want to be alone in the Palace so I brought him back with me.”
“So I really fall in love… with a man?” Wonbeom asked in utter shock.
“Maybe?” Soyong answered.
“No way.”
“You said it doesn’t matter what inside me?” she teased and it only made Wonbeom laughed in nervousness.
“I kind of dislike the idea,” he said.
“I was going to confess to you about this actually, but I couldn’t gather my courage to start the conversation since I am scared that you will hate me for that. And I am still that coward Soyong.”
Wonbeom dropped in silent, he couldn’t find anything to console her.
“So I seek Hwajin and talked to her. I also told her about my encounter with another soul, she couldn’t buy that but still her insight was convinced me a lot.”
Wonbeom smiled, “What she said?”
“That I need to ask Jeonha directly about which one you love more, and she is right, you still love me despite everything.” Soyong answered shyly.
Wonbeom beamed a big smile, “That’s our Hwajin.”
“So,” Soyong continued, “when you start loving this person again?” she asked while putting both of her hands on her chest.
“What do you mean?”
“You said you like me before but then you hate me for being Andong Kim clan, so when you start loving me again?”
“Ever since you save me and Hwajin from Daewang Daebi Mama plot, I started to realized I still like you. And I love you since you were waking up from your vegetative state.”
“Will you still love me then?”
“Off course, I’ve said that before, right?”
“I just want to make sure since I never can be the personality you’ve used to like, I just want to be myself.”
“Then let you become yourself. You aren’t less charming than the guy inside you.”
Soyong suddenly brought her hands up to Wonbeom’s face and then she kissed him. He was in shock.
“Wait, is this the guy speaking or?”
Soyong slapped him, “He was long gone, Jeonha! It is me and that was me too.”
“Oh my, so… so the tigres was… you?” he gasped. Soyong slapped him more in embarrassment. “And you said you are a coward?”
“Stop it!”
“No way I would do that or we wouldn’t have Aheung-ie.”
“Aheung-ie?”
“Yes our fetus baby name.”
“Jeonha!”

Their banters and giggles were quite loud that even Choi sanggung who stood outside the room able to heard it. It brought a smile to her face and sighed in relieve.
All is well. All will be well.

Wonbeom put his brush away and looked down to the page of Queen’s Dictionary book. Some fresh ink decorated the last line of the page.
Jang Bonghwan,
Anti-fan, our guardian angel.
Without you I couldn’t find back the person I love, without you I couldn’t win this internal war. I hope you live well in future, or I hope with our efforts the future will be much better. I will try my best to keep our plan intact.
I will cherish our moment together. If it is possible, I hope we can meet in our next life. As friends, as brothers, or even as lovers.

He asks you to bury him right here, and you laugh. Oh, how hard you laugh. You can’t find a proper reaction to such a thought so you brushed it off with a simple friendly gesture. Bury me here, the request echoes in your head when you drive back to work, when you wake up before sunrise, and when you come running back into his home in a fervent sweat. Bury me right here with you, he says to you. It must be all just a funny joke because there he lay… lifeless; a vessel without a soul. He asked you to bury him that night, and you were a coward, and that killed your lover in the deepest way possible.
You mourn. You sobbed— You screamed, you screamed until the air is exhaled out of your lungs until heaven and hell could hear your plead and resurrect your man. You hold onto his shirt, tugging on it, hoping that his chest elevates just a little. You wanted to find him in the dining room eating his breakfast but all you found was his soul slipping from your fingertips. Yes, Bucky Barnes, the universe isn’t kind, and Fate doesn’t care if Sam Wilson breathes his final breath.
That was two years ago, and Sam had never let it down. He teased and jested at Bucky’s obliviousness every chance he got. Bucky’s just glad they were soulmates with souls irrelevant to time, hence, they were excused from death when with each other.
After that moment, Bucky never left Sam’s side (but if the man says he needs his space, Bucky will give him that). They go grocery shopping together, they sleep together, they were partners in crime together, they did most things together. Out of everything, Bucky’s favorite thing to do with Sam was falling asleep with him. They would both be in bed, in their little bubble enjoying their time in silence and tranquility; Sam would be jotting down in his planner and journal while Bucky would be looking through his socials and occasionally send a link of a funny video or picture to Sam’s respective DMs. After all that mess of poking each other’s feet and just slyly catching a glimpse of each other. Sam would turn off the bedside lamp as Bucky begins to spoon him. It’s their kind of bubble of peace and oh wow they feel like flying being light as a feather right here.
They sleep with each other’s stardust in their veins, wrapping their fingers around the other’s wrists to feel their lover’s life strum against theirs. Bucky loved moments like this, when he could have Sam in his arms for a long time, never letting go. It assures him much like a kiss, fleeting and deep, yet he understands and he doesn’t doubt it. Falling in love must be like this: fleeting and deep, a constant fact.
It’s because Sam was so beautiful it’s incomprehensible, and to think that Bucky hadn’t realized he had fallen in love sooner. It all looks like a joke, he swears, and he still laughs about it, how ridiculously oblivious he was. All those nights under the stars and morning runs that consisted of sunrises that look like his love; these are the things that made Bucky look so stupid next to love, but he thinks it’s alright. He knows now, and he knows he’s so hooked up he’s never giving up.
So it’s no surprise why he’s still shaken up from finding the man he loves slipping from his grasp. It’s a scary moment, to see the love of his life slowly fade away, stars at the back of his eyes, night turns into galaxies, everything so pretty but everything was dead. God, death never was supposed to be so pretty and he was prepared to mourn for that too.
Bucky cries in his sleep as he sees those same stars he looked up to like the art Sam analyzes: carefully crafted by the very thing that created who he was, it was never supposed to be so intimate. He sleeps with Sam in his arms and all he could feel is stardust slipping away, further and further as he drowns in his sleep, and he worries that he’ll lose it all when he wakes up, his arms empty of the world.
He’s shaking, his breath stuttering like a panicked child. He wanted to come back home, back to Earth, relive nothing but happiness and Sam’s laugh, so bright and charming he’s swooned every single time like a damn fool. Bucky wanted to sleep in Sam’s arms without ever feeling like he could lose him at any minute. Bucky wanted to believe that Sam is his soulmate and they’ll live forever, as they feel they could be.
Sam wakes up with Bucky’s tears painting the back of his shirt. His heart aches at the mere feel of it, knowing that his man will never let it go. Let it go? How can I let go of a possibility? he would say, and Sam breaks a little bit in the inside as he turns around to face him. He’ll find him shaking, his arms around himself, and his eyes shut tight. Bucky will see stars in his sleep and that’s too beautiful a dream to wake up from, so Sam really couldn’t wake him.
It’s like this some nights. Bucky refuses to get help but will reluctantly do so anyway, just so Sam wouldn’t pester him. Bucky tries, oh how he tries but it’s no use; how can he not be scared about an eventual thing? One day, it’ll be the day without Sam that he’d lose him, and he’s not ready for that yet.
“I’m dreaming…” Sam sang, his voice so hushed that it’s breaking. The back of his hand brushes against Bucky’s wet cheek and the man visibly shivered. “…of a white… Christmas.”
It was the first of August but Sam couldn’t wait for the holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas — oh! and New Year’s Eve.
“Just like the ones… I used to know…” Sam continued to sing, and as he sang, the closer his lips set a gentle kiss on Bucky’s forehead. It was just a fleeting kind of kiss, nothing too exciting, but the way Bucky’s shoulders rolled back, exhaling a little sigh, and his eyebrows relaxing, Sam could tell it meant everything.
Sam couldn’t help but smile at that. He brushes his hand against Bucky’s cheeks and began to wipe the tears away, humming to the tune of Christmas songs as August wind zips past their window.
“Is it the day of your Lord, already?” Bucky hummed in his sleep, his fingers curling around the collar of Sam’s shirt.
Sam hummed back, snuggling closer to his man that their noses are almost touching. “No. Christmas songs are just nice.”
“I know. That’s why I let you play them in July.”
“James… It’s August already.”
Bucky’s eyebrows furrowed deeply as he scowled. “The fuck?”
Sam’s laugh, even in the first few seconds of the next day, was as lively as if he was awake, but in fact, he’s still stiff as a log and half asleep when he’s wiping Bucky’s tears away. Bucky hummed along with Sam and it’s their kind of symphony. His breathing was lax and Sam didn’t have to hold his breath anymore.
“Can I tell you something, Sammy?”
Sam’s eyes fluttered open, meeting Bucky’s open ones. The room was pretty dark, but it’s as if he could see the blue in them as clear as day. “Yeah, Buck?” he said.
Bucky pursed his lips, wrapping his arm around Sam’s waist. “You don’t have to do that for me. Don’t wake up.”
“I want to. Why don’t you want me to wake up?”
And it’s innocent, almost child-like when he says it. Oh, naive Bucky, he and his aching heart, forever played in Sam’s hands, it’s all in six words: “You grow old when you’re awake.”
There’s goes Sam’s heart shattering into a million pieces, his breathing stuttering for a moment before he stares at Bucky, trying to piece in the vague shapes in front of him, figuring out the details that made sense. After a few seconds of silence, Sam lurches forward and captured Bucky’s lips in his in a chaste kiss, sweet and deep, Bucky’s already twisting him so he could lay on his chest.
Sam lets go but he plants a quick one again before he says: “That’s not how this works, you know.”
“A lover can wish.”
Sam’s got his hands on Bucky’s chest as the man turns the lamplight on. They’re then doused in orange light, and it dances in Sam’s brown eyes, the absolute picture of a supernova, or the sun, swirling in the darkest recces of space like a burst of God’s light. It’s such a beautiful sight that Bucky just had to voice out his thoughts, his breath on Sam’s neck as he says it all, those same words in his thoughts: like a burst of God’s light.
Sam smiled, chuckling as Bucky brushed his fingers above Sam’s eyebrow. “You’re a poet at one in the morning too, huh?”
“A poet’s gotta have ‘nother poet,” he replied as he brings Sam closer to his body, his arms enveloping around him like a warm blanket.
“Hm, all I can say is just stop worrying,” Sam whispers into Bucky’s ear. “You’ll have white hair stressing like that.” Sam’s hands caress his cheeks, forcing the man to look into his eyes. “I need you to know that we both grow old. People age. We do that. But you know what doesn’t change? Our eyes. Ma’s always said if you’re gonna fall in love with someone’s body it better be the eyes, because God— those never change, not even the color nor the pupil.”
Bucky hummed, and when he smiled it was all squished up from Sam’s hands, and that only made his smile reach into both their eyes. “Your mama’s nice. Wish I could’ve met her.”
“Well, that’s a long time from now.”
With that, Bucky’s hand interlocked with one of Sam’s. Turning it over, Bucky pressed a deep kiss into the palm of Sam’s hand. He practically inhaled Sam’s scent as he did so, kissing his knuckles then his fingers, then to the wrist then to the elbow. As he did this, Sam’s found a home in the crook of Bucky’s neck, a smile on his lips he couldn’t wipe off.
“I love you and your eyes,” Bucky says out of the blue, the light turned off and the morning light creeping through the gaps of their curtain.
Sam groaned and rolled over, his hand still intertwined with Bucky’s. “Is it morning already? What did we do.”
Bucky planted a kiss on Sam’s ear and the man snorted at that, turning quickly to face him as he says: “Kissin’ and sleeping. The perfect combo.”
Sam laughed at that, wrapping his arms around Bucky’s neck as the man brings him close to his chest. There they felt each other’s life strum in a better place: the heart. It’s their favorite song in the entire world too.
