1. if anything ive seen a few theories of kazui possibly revealing himself to be a two faced manipulator of sorts due to his self proclaimed liarness…. like ‘ohh u cant trust what he says he cld be trying to make himself look pitiable to the audience to get voted inno’ sort of theories which is. no he wont do that???

is he a liar? to a degree yes—liar not in the sense that what he says are direct falsities, but more like hes built much of his character to constantly disguise his true intentions/feelings as a defense mechanism. the lies he says are less of words from a schemer and more of redirections from someone who is, all in all, an insecure adult scared of what will happen if he isnt able to meet peoples expectations of him

as much as he calls himself a liar hes mad honest about where he thinks his capabilities lie, which is to say he doesnt believe in his capabilities at all lol. when amane asks him for help with her studies, he turns her down after some consideration bc he doesnt believe himself to be smart enough to help (despite having graduated from a university; sports degree or not credit shld be given where credit is due). when he talks to shidou post ktk attack, he refuses to admit doing any of the work in taking care of the situation and instead puts all the praise onto shidou. even his physical strength and skill (which is arguably the one part of him he does acknowledge and take some sort of belief in) is something he treats as less of something that he has achieved himself and more of an obligation of his—like, hes strong bc to him he HAS to be, bc it is expected of him to protect those who need protecting. he does want to protect others, sure, but much of that wanting comes frm how ingrained it is in him that thats what hes good for, thats what his strength is for (his timeline w/ yuno on her bday says as much nyway)

the way i see it, that self deprication of his plays back into his obsession with meeting the expectations placed onto him, or at least lessening the disappointment of others by lessening those expectations in the first place. if u tell someone that u didnt go to the right university, that u didnt do much to help anyway, that u were born so fundamentally wrong as a person that everything is bound to go to shit as long as ur there (he basically said this to es in his t1 vd im not even kidding), wouldnt that ensure the safety that youre less likely to ruin someone elses confidence in you? less likely to ruin bc in the small chance that u still fuck up, theres not much left to ruin at that point

in the end ig what i wish more ppl understood abt kazui is that hes a liar yes, but not a manipulator. he lies to stay safe, not to be a sadist or whatever. you cant take what he says at face value (in much the same way u cant do the same for any other prisoner tbh), but that does not mean u shldnt take anything he says srsly at all!!!

2. ok this one i have to give a bit of thought, mostly bc i cant pick just one

if the standards were which t2 mv do i enjoy for its direction music n visual wise, purge march takes the cake so quickly. the music itself is so bomb (which like, i cant even find a logical explanation as to why… its just so good to listen to) n the mv itself does such a great job at creating the right atmosphere, both in its flashy theatrics and the subtle uncanniness under it. mayb i have a slight bias bc tpm was the whole reason i got into milgram in the first place, but i stand by it idccc

aesthetic wise, def all knowing and all agony. the horror elements r genuinely disturbing, but not so overbearing that it overwrites the pop style that milgram has going on. i luove the use of amber for blood, plus the filters that remind me of found footage u usually see show up in asian horror movies. i think i was actually terrified the first time i watched the mv

symbolic wise, its cat always and forever god bless. it takes advantage of its aesthetics to hint at subtle secrets so well that it makes me giddy as hell. the use of colors as a part of the set, the transitions frm scene to scene having its own part in making the story, n honestly making the bg more blank than usual readjusts the focus of the mv on what matters p well. i cant mention every detail rn or else id be here all day

Soulcalibur is dope as fuck, should never have gotten rid of it

youre so right tbh, its by far my most favorite franchise across all of media. even in the weaker additions like sc4 and sc5 (unpopular opinion but those two are among my favorites tbh) you can really feel how much love the devs put into it. yes its not perfect, but like at the same time you can tell they have all these crazy ideas for each one to set it apart from the previous ones and you can honestly feel how much fun they were having while bringing those ideas to fruition.

and whats so cool about soulcalibur is that it really has something for everyone. the gameplay is always so fun, and with the fact that its a 3d fighter and has 8wayrun its just so unique feeling compared to other fighters. i remember i bought tekken 7 and tekken tag team 2 because i was craving more of that style of gameplay but even that does not feel the same as the fluidity and the fast pace of a soulcalibur fight. ive never played virtua fighter but ive heard people compare calibur to it in a positive way. too bad we arent getting any new virtua fighter games anytime soon either lol

the story is VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY expansive also so if youre someone who likes big intricate stories then calibur might be fun to sink your teeth into as well for that reason. there are so many different things going on all at the same time, and honestly each little cell of characters that commonly interacts with one another on their own could already make for a really cool book or movie, but now you have so many of those all on the same roster. and each cell feels very unique too so you have many options for who would want to invest your time into

and then we have customization and original character creation. we didnt start out with that in the beginning of the series but ever since its introduction you really cant picture a new soulcalibur game not having that as an option. im pretty sure that like a pretty big chunk of the people who bought soulcalibur 6 did so PURELY for character creation like they only ever really do any fighting to watch their creations go at it with each other. its just another very fun creative outlet. im comfortable saying that soulcalibur is the pioneer of having creation in fighting games, every other game that does it seems to be taking pages out of caliburs book. and thats really cool tbh!! even if bandai namco doesnt respect its own property, its really cool when i see games like street fighter 6 have options like that that feel so reminiscent of soulcalibur, like it feels really good that giants in the industry are inspired by our small struggling niche game. i will say though lol i heavily side eye tekken 8 and its customization because there are a few items in there that i SWEAR they literally just ripped the assets out of soulcalibur to create and it makes me bitter to see lol

anyway this ramble was very pointless, i hope that you are able to get a hold of more soulcalibur in the future! if you have a computer with a good graphics card, you can emulate all the games up through sc5 i believe but i know for my laptop, which is just a regular old lenovo yoga, im comfortably able to emulate soulcalibur 2 and soulcalibur broken destiny so those might be good options for you

hii read your post about shiny duo and as another person who has them as their fav c! (we shall stay united) i kinda agree and kinda not :3. on one side i do think that gem clearly antagonized pearl in wl, and honestly don't see how anyone could argue otherwise (difficult to do so when cc gem herself said her character did do it lol) like there was clear focused hostility there which i think makes the wl finale better because gem in the finale is leaving behind the grudge and focusing on what's more important (being with pearl), butttt i dont agree with the SL take.

as someone who saw the episodes as they came put, i dont remember anyone ever saying that gem was a victim between them two in secret life? prior the finale everyone had already been calling them toxic yuri for a reason, but i also dont see how the pearl kill could be considered gem antagonizing pearl. gem never seriously blames pearl for having to kill her (right before pearl goes to change her skin, gem does say quite literally "i'm sorry" with a pretty sincere tone, even after arguing with pearl about not using her shield), nor does she do it for a reason that is personal against pearl; it was her task, and c!gem follows the rules no matter what because that’s the only way she sees to 'play the game'. she blames the secret keeper for the task, because it had only two conditions: she hits the person until they block, if they dont block then the kill counts. does it excuse the kill? no! but gem knew that too, which is why she first believed pearl would stop being her friend until the whole murder camel thing (gem does say "i cant believe you still want to be friends"). gem's reaction and intent it’s what makes it the opposite to what you do when you want to antagonize someone even though it's still hostile. and i do believe that pearl saw that, despite killing her, gem genuinely didnt want to do it. i mean gem was quite literally trying to give her hints while the chase was happening (pearl said after gem killed her "why did she kill me with kindness?"). pearl stays with gem because she understood gem and forgave her, and from there the murder camel appears and they develop one of the most special bonds in the life series. nothing on pearl's behavior hints about her holding a grudge about it (and cc pearl never even makes it a possibility), because all their interactions after that are murder camel and being each other's best partners

and the reason why pearl sided with scar in the 2v1 it’s because scar was with the mounders in the finale. he was the last straw of what was left of her alliance (cc pearl said it on one of her streams after sl, and wl!pearl said that to gem as well in ep6) even if he wasnt really part of them (also, scar did blow up pearl’s chests in sl, and she was mad about it, which is why she so readily agrees to kill scar for the boogey curse, and you could say he was on the same boat that gem was on ep8 because he too blew up yhe chests for his task). it’s pearl grasping at anything to make it seem like she succeeded at her task of making an ally win, something that she is still chasing after in wild life (and will prob continue to do so in the next life series tbh). it’s a tragedy, because pearl still had something to hold, while gem was completely alone but still held back on attacking pearl until pearl was quite literally running towards her and attacking her. i would say that this is where the wl conflict starts, and that actually we should be happy that pearl didnt use her shield, because otherwise we would have never gotten the murder camel and nothing of what came after. we should all be more mentally ill about these two 🥳

I totally agree with what you said and revoke my earlier claims (don't listen to me, I have a singular brain cells and it's asleep 80% of the time lol). My claims mainly come from seeing a lot of non cannon fan art and au's making Gem seem like she is the victim, rather than the antagonist. I completely forgot about the part where she apologized, and you are so right about that. The conclusion is that I just want to study both of them under a microscope for hours because I think they are both fascinating creature and desperately need therapy.

Mofo making me add yet another game onto this blog, spoiler alert I loved ghost of tsushima and think everyone should play it. ps. spoilers ahead cause I cant for the life of me figure out how to hide text till you click it.

The first character I fell in love with: tbh Yuna, her blatant disregard for the rules and expectations in favor of doing good is great, even if that good is selfish from time to time. Her growth throughout the story just reaffirms this even more too.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: That'll have to go to Masako, her introduction led me to believe that her as a character would be nothing more than a cheap revenge ploy, and while her questline kinda leaned into that hard her as a character grew on me. The duel with her had me literally yelling that I better not have to kill her.

The character everyone else loves that I dont: Shoot me, but Ryuzo. As a character hes as good as every other major character but thats why I dont like him, his betrayal hits hard especially after listening to the banter between him and Jin about their childhoods. As they spoke about parting ways after their initial duel I seriously hoped they could reconnect over the course of saving their home.

The character I love that everyone else hates: I dont know if hes necessarily a hated character but Ive heard several people say they really didnt like Norio. A lot of people say his quest is two dimensional and bland but looking past that Norio feels like the only character that really understands Jin's struggle with what needs to be done and his expectations as a samurai. Through the second and third act he feels like a reassurance at Jin's back, that his decision is a difficult one but one that needs to be made.

The character I used to love but dont any longer: Ishikawa, Initially I thought he would be the basis for a growing understanding that what Jin and Yuna did was necessary, especially with what he did with Tomoe. But he remained just as stubborn and while I can understand why it doesn't mean I have to like it. Hes a good character but not my cup of tea.

The character I would totally smooch: Probably no one in the way you would expect, but Yuriko needed a kiss on the forehead and praise for doing such a good job even in her old age and told not to worry about Jin. At least she was one of the few that got to pass peacefully.

The character I'd want to be like: Taka hands down, he tries so hard to be something hes not, and when he found a way he could help he put his heart into it. Then even in the face of the Khan he put on a brave face and knowing full well he stood no chance tried to do what he thought was right. In many ways hes a reflection of Jin yet not so gifted that he can fight for his home, yet he still raised a sword when it mattered the most. His death by far killed me the most.

The character I'd slap: Lord Shimura, this man infuriates me so much yet I cant hate him because of how sad he is. The ending killed me, seeing his pain in having to face Jin, losing the person he considered his Son, and even more so after sparing him. He could've helped change everything and even if he disowned Jin officially he could've still let him go after everything that happened. But now he continued to be shackled by his idealology of honor and it forced him to push away his son all the more. I get its not easy to change what someone is raised to believe in whole heartedly but you would expect the loss of the last of your family to help with that, but no.

A pairing that I love: Jin and Tomoe, I feel like they are two very different edges of the same coin. Jin choosing a path that leads to a great many regrets that become overshadowed by the good that followed, and Tomoe falling down a selfish path filled with many more regrets and struggling to correct it. Is this generic? maybe, is it cliché enough that I like it still? of course. What do you want from me cliché is my middle name. Also yes Im aware she hardly had any screen time and her and Jin hardly interacted, I like thinking about unlikely things, its called headcannon for a reason.

A pairing that I despise: I dont despise it but I dont really like it either, Jin and Yuna feels kinda wrong. The two of them went through so much together and it feels like one of those dynamics thats very rooted in a deep friendship and nothing more. Plus after spending so much time together in so many stressful scenarios changing how they see each other would be a monumental challenge, especially after Yuna lost Taka and would most likely be hesitant about getting close to someone else. Losing a family member often causes people to push away the thought of relationships for awhile.

i do wanna say that i actually really did enjoy playing it though, i think it smoothed out a lot of what i found annoying about 7 (mostly the leveling system and skill jumps and stuff) and added a lot of new content. i did like the new map and i thought they did a pretty good job making it feel different than the other areas of the game. the battles felt very fun and were challenging but didnt ever really feel like a slog for me which is usually my biggest gripe with games that involve leveling like this but i had a good time! loved his fucking scooter. to be quite honest.

enjoyed the drink links and party chats and party bingo and stuff they were very silly but it was enjoyable! did really like the party members overall but ill talk on that in a sec

also ill say it ran much better on my shitty laptop than most of the recent games have which is definitely a bonus. my graphics for rgg7 were so fucking awful but i didnt have to change a single default setting for this one so idk i guess the only plusses for this one is that the gameplay rocked and they optimized their shit a lot better. like it genuinely was enjoyable to play

unfortunately the story was just dumb. i cant even say it sucked shit it just felt stupid.

the initial premise wasnt even bad tbh. ichiban and co get fucked over due to ~society~ or whatever and perceptions of ex-cons and such, coinciding with ichiban seeking out his mother since her identity was left pretty open ended in the last game. like not bad at all imo. idk how they fumbled it that bad. Actually i do know how. they just overshot it too much. they could have just kept it to something related to that like with the seiryu clan and ebina/hikawa whatever. that could have been interesting! unfortunately the tie in with whatever palekana was doing just turned the story in a completely other direction in a way that just didnt make sense? i just found that whole part of the plot shallow and difficult to suspend my disbelief about. and this is the same series that had the whole baseball betting and idol concert as a serious plot point in the 5th game so maybe my standards are too high but idk that actually felt meaningful even if it was stupid and silly. this just didnt make sense and felt too overblown. i think in general my problem with the series as of late is that its conflicts reach Too High and are Too Grand and concern world governments and massive schemes and shit in a way that takes away from anything actually interesting thematically.

in terms of character i actually did quite like tomizawa and chitose and i think they were good additions and balanced well with existing characters. at the same time though i feel like the game kind of forced their friendships with ichiban too early and it made it feel kind of flat. i also feel they lost the plot with tomizawa a tad as to Why he was even sticking with ichiban at a certain point (ie what stakes he had in the conflict after he got what he wanted out of dwight). but i did like him. i thought the rest of the party members from the last game all factored in pretty well otherwise and i VERY much enjoyed having seonhee as a party member this time she rocked and i think they made the right choice including her. And also her being bisexual?

sorry quick seonhee break. anyway. my beef with characterization otherwise was like 80% with kiryu. Personally i believe his ass shouldnt have been in any of the games after the 5th game at least because im a hater. if they were gonna kill him off to retire they shuold have let him retire in the 6th game and not come back. Okay fine they had to give him his stupid cameo in 7 but that was supposed to be him 'passing the torch' to ichiban and then he could go fuck off again. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE A CENTRAL PLAYABLE PROTAGONIST IN ANOTHER GAME. LIKE EVER. GAIDEN ASIDE. THEYRE DRAGGING THIS MANS CORPSE AROUND THEY'RE WEEKEND AT BERNIES'ING HIM. on the one hand i was nostalgia baited by them intentionally making parallels to rgg1 and also the whole memoirs thing unfortunately because i see 1 mention of haruka and lose my mind. but if they were gonna make intentional parallels wrt lani and haruka then they should have put their whole pussies into it and leaned into it and explored it bc as it was it just felt shallow. the cancer thing was okay ig they did explore like why he was refusing treatment so much and him seemingly accepting his death while everyone around him was trying to drag him out of it but idk. it was just okay to me. but just with kiryu being there in general it was just so annoying because i specifically just want him to fucking retire. i dont care about him. every game for the past 4 games has made it out to be kiryus last and they keep bringing him back and its just tiring. i dont careeeee. will say takaya kuroda did another phenomenal job voicing him though. and the black shirt black slacks and belt was doing somehting for me. on the topic of lani and also akane i wish they would have explored that more since akane is half the premise as to why ichiban is stateside and they insisted on the paralel with haruka for lani. like i just felt like they got very little screentime when they were arguably pretty plot central characters. like why did they get less dialogue than like fucking yamai. i wish they would have explored akane and ichiban more specifically though that one cutscene of them actually talking was really sweet

SPEAKING OF YAMAI. in a vacuum i honestly did like him he was kind of funny and i respect him for his taste in women and his weird little ragtag syndicate. i feel like hes nishitani part 2 if nishitani was in literally any way enjoyable or likeable and not a piece of shit (wasnt there a nishitani in gaiden or something?) but i cant explain my thinking often. but the treatment of yamai and his syndicate vs wong tou and the ganzhe vs dwight and the barracudas jsut stood out to me as. particularly not good? yamai and co as the japanese group were portrayed as very sympathetic and were fully humanized and fleshed out. wong tou was characterized decently well i think and was given a point of sympathy with his son and like literally everyone betraying him. but was also killed pretty quickly and the ganzhe otherwise were portrayed as just being infallibly loyal to bryce. and the barracudas and dwight were portrayed with no nuance whatsoever and were arguably seen as the most violent of the three organizations. which tbh i think definitely has something to do with the barracudas being largely Black and brown otherwise (its noted in narration that they consisted of all nationalities and ethnicities but in practice in the game most of their models seemed to be men of color). because rgg studios has shown its ass time and time again to be generally racist and colorist and nationalist. that really stuck out to me throughout the game tbh

i dont want to speak on this as much just because i dont want to talk out of my ass but it also gave me a bad taste in my mouth that the big evil cult palekana utilized indigenous hawaiian religion and language but was also run by a white guy. also was not a fan of some of the job options such as 'fetishized depiction of a hula dancer that resulted from american tourism and imperialism' and such. was just not good.

side note i just thought the whole palekana brainwashing cult deal was stupid it was just dumb. not in a fun way. maybe thats just me being a hater but it was just STUPID and far fetched. it was like the part in rgg5 (sorry to always bring up rgg5 but actually im not sorry because it was a good game) where it revealed that there never was a nagoya family and everyone was fucking with shinada specifically. which was silly then but this was just worse. it didnt really make bryce any more formidable or hateable as a protagonist it just fell short in any of their efforts to make it believable and to raise the stakes in my humble opinion.

the daigo and saejima and majima tie in was also jsut kind of stupid. I just cannot believe they would have ended up in a fishing shack like that. Saejima definitely i would see him fucking off somewhere like that. but i just dont see how daigo or majima would end up there man it just doesnt make sense. i thought their goodbye in rgg7 was kind of dumb and if the game leaned more into the struggles of being an ex yakuza or ex con trying to reintegrate into a society that wants nothing to do with that, maybe their story could have been more interesting! unfortunately the game went another direction and their inclusion felt stupif and it just felt bastardizing of these characters that have also kind of been weekend at bernies'd for the last few games. I just cant see daigo being there. Daigo wheres your fucking mom. Can you call her. She misses you. Shave that ugly beard. Just leave the damn country at that point all of you.

this is not a problem unique to this game but i hate how allergic they are to making these characters look their age. i appreciated that they made kiryus hair gray but his haircut was stupid though tbh he looked quite nice when he put it back up at the end and looked probably closer to his actual age. saejima and daigo were pretty okay. WHY IS MAJIMA ALWAYS SO DAMN SMOOTH i know hes been doing like coke since the 80s he literally should not be looking like that. actually did love the part where they were support party members in the finale sequence though it was just really fun. but they shuoldnt have been there at all. All of you go retire.

in terms of the finale honestly ebina/hikawa was kind of right tbh. and i think the game wanted me to agree with him in a sense? he was right to hate arakawa these games will never make me like these deadbeat father figures (except genda he ruled) but what i didnt agree with was kiryus whole... deal at the end. i dont know. i dont think he was ever wrong for fucking off out of the tojo clan and i definitely dont thing he was wrong for not taking on the responsibility of chairman and trying to 'change things' or something like its not literally a massive criminal organization. wasnt a big point of this game that people should be allowed to leave the criminal life and reintegrate in society? so why should the game be blaming kiryu for fucking off from being chairman in the first game to do exactly that. we COULD be blaming him for never actually cutting ties with the tojo clan fully and always having one foot on each side and not ever doing much but trying to maintain the status quo through that rather than change anything. which honestly would make much more sense than blaming him for not trying to do anything as chairman. but i digress. i guess. wild that this was like one of 4 or 5 times that this man has ever cried on screen and its him cradling another man on the floor and then passing out.

the fact that they didnt have the haruka reunion on screen is criminal i was so fucking MAD. they HATE ME SPECIFICALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

and the ending with eiji made no sense to me in a lot of ways. that was the major part of the plot that they didnt wrap up very well besides just having his ass go to jail -what for? collaborating with the yakuza? that wasnt clear to me. i get it that they were trying to show how manipulating or releasing information can sway public opinion very easily. but how did he grow his hair and beard that quick how much damn time had passed??? is that a nitpick? maybe. i did just have to go on the wiki for a plot summary about him if that shows how it was kind of unclear how he ended up in that position. but also tbf i am usually having to go on wikis after i finish rgg games because im stupid and these games are annoyingly complicated. #1 media understanderrrr

with eiji otherwise he was an okay twist villain but the wheelchair thing was just stupid.

why bring back sawashiro anyway i truly didnt see a point to it. i dont think it needed to have been him at all in that role it could have been any other new game character. Did like how everybody took every opportunity they could to dunk on him though

in general the theme wrt atonement and doing over. on the one hand i always believe you get a second chance and i think the 7th game already did a good job showing it with ichi and co. but i always am annoyed that their insistence on atonement must be done through the legal system because im a communist but also in-universe its stupid because of how often theyve shown that the legal system is innefficient and corrupt and i know theyre never gonna challenge the status quo like that bc theyre a generally reactionary series overall but like. its annoying. im over it. im not. anyways back to the theme of atonement i dont think its really bad at all but the rest of the game didnt make me feel anything enough for it to mean something.

liked that the theme of friendship was once again so prominent though and that the cast was dragging kiryu out of being a lone wolf kicking and screaming. did make me smile admittedly. the whole thing with saeko. honestly i was willing to just let it happen after a certain point ichiban is allowed to be happy i guess . the ending was just. i dont know. it would have been silly on its own but after the trainwreck of the rest of the game i was just sitting there like. ._. they hate on my man ichiban for his communication styles and his comprehension of directions and subtleties i guess. though they were right to criticize his stupid ass proposal lmao

sorry i forgot about this point earlier but the whole seiryu clan -> bleach japan thing was also fucking stupid and i found it very diffiuclt to suspend my disbelief for that ie i did not. it was just out of left field and lame and didnt really fit in well with the message of atonement I DONT KNOW like i dont care about believability in a lot of ways their machine gunning the millenium tower again theyre always blowing shit up and doing silly action movie stuff i dont care about that. their plot point choices just tend to be stupid.

side note. the kashiwagi and kiryu initial conversation was genuinely so fucking funny. their more genuine conversation made me tear up actually. sniffle. theyre brothers.

i think im running out of steam here i think i hit all my major points that i didnt like in the game. tldr it was very forced and many of its plotpoints werent believable, and it lacked direction and a strong message in the end, and it bastardized a lot of recurring characters and generally was very flat emotionally. was fun to actually play but it was just stupid.

they could never make me hate you ichiban.

i feel like this story suffers from the same issue TSE has, where by straying from the games canon you’ve actually made things so much more complicated? while some things definitely made sense (vanessa being williams daughter was a nice touch and made sense for both characters fight me, also a great nod to how shes mind controlled in game canon) others feel like they just made things more complicated? like, why was garrett just a random kid in a random campsite? why was william there, why did he kill him, why do the ghost kids know him? i guess you could say, if there is a reason, it will be revealed in a later movie? but thats so many unnecessary steps when all you had to do was have garret go missing from a freddys location (like in TSE). like, mikes brothers disappearance is linked to freddys, thats why he needs to work there, you could save a lot of time aunt jane ate up. speaking of.

its such a hilarious plot hole that they just totally move past aunt janes death. like this guy is fighting tooth and nail for custody of his sister against his aunt and she shows up dead at his house and nobody is suspicious or cares. also he shows up at the hospital with a stabbed cop who’s apparently in a coma and cant verify his story at all?? the plot armor on this man!!

i realize they needed to put abby in danger at some point or else why would she even be here, but having the ghost kids want to ghostify her doesnt make a whole lotta sense >_> like they kept saying william was confusing them but they never really showed that, golden freddys spirit kid seemed pretty aware of the situation the entire time.

that one jumpscare with the kid with black goopy eyes was pretty silly lmao. feel like they could have captured the creepypasta vibe better

this is semi positive and negative, but i really really liked vanessa’s creepiness i just wish theyd leaned into it a bit more? that scene where shes staring lovingly up at the animatronics and then asks mike to dance is just so 👌 like girl what is wrong with you fr 🥰 but then her behaviors dont make much sense after that, i was a bit confused as to when she was supposed to be trying to get mike to stay and when she was supposed to be warning him away.

hi! i finished binging dq recently and i wanted to share some of my thoughts bc the brainrot it has given me is literally insane like. You dont understand. i didnt want to put this probably gigantic block of text in the ao3 comments so i figured id send it here so you can decide if you want it posted or not!

back to the topic i need to put thief in a blender (said with as much affection as possible btw). theyre soo painfully realistic and have a very unique perspective on the killing game which isnt rlly explored in fanfics so im eating it up! their talent is so cool and i cant wait to see them use it more later on. i also love how despite their paranoia and distrust they are still. Kind. Like they still reached out to ryouma and it literally saved his life!!!!! btw i think not killing him off in ch2 was a really good writing choice bc i think him dying after That scene with thief would just destroy them entirely -but on the topic of ryouma! im very glad you decided to give more spotlight to characters that werent given much of it in canon (or fanon ngl). him and tsumugi are characters that im rlly interested in but the game straight up gave them next to nothing, which i guess is very usual for danganronpa but yknow. Its still disappointing

thief and saiharas relationship makes me want to use both of them as a chew toy bc theyre so. So!!!!! im literally obsessed w them. we are still pretty early in the killing game but so many of their moments are already rotating in my mind At All Times. from the detective/criminal dynamic, to how much they care abt each other (thief obviously having a soft spot for shu despite not trusting people is soooo cute i need them gone). though that one scene in ch19 (i think?) where its said that their situation wld be considered romantic if it thief didnt have a knife at his throat is Life Changing and ive been thinking abt it so much -the contrast is just so good and the scene itself is so sad. also "Maybe this really was truly Shuichi, another side reflected to all of you, gleaming in the light like shards of a prism. Maybe you couldn’t see all of the sides right now, in this moment, but what you could see was so wonderful, spots danced in the back of your eyes." is such a beautifully written paragraph but the fact that thief thought this in the middle of a trial is so hilarious to me but i still support them. sometimes you really need to admire your Friend in a life or death situation to be able to push through. I get it

ok enough of those two. i love how you take the time to explore thief's relationships w other people as well. the break up scene between them and tsumugi had me blankly staring at my screen for good 30 seconds i think. the brief thief/ouma collab was great as well. i already mentioned ryouma but he is so dear to me head in hands.......cant wait for ch3 to physically beat the shit out of me

thief is my little freak whom i need to microwave at the highest temperatures. i think a lot of people should be more selfish in the killing game tbh, there’s a lot of characters who are ready to throw away everything for each other, i mean even a lot of the killers have selfless motives (kirumi, kaede) which is totally fine but!!! where my selfish bitches at where are the guys who just want to survive. despite all their paranoia though, they are a good person at heart which is something i’ve always found compelling in writing them.

WHY DIDN’T RYOMA LIVE IN CANON!!! you’re telling me a major theme of the game is overcoming yourself and pushing through despite hopelessness and then you just . kill off the other guy who’s canonically suicidal? it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth tbh. “oh you have nothing left to live for? die” i love ryoma i love mugi (obviously) and they deserve better than what the game gave them

they haven’t had much time for each other because we’re not even halfway through the game but UGH thiefhara means so much to me . thief wants to keep everyone at arm’s length but is actually way too soft to go through with it because there’s a detective with pretty eyes (which is so real btw) . i cant tell you anything about the plot but let it be known that chapter three is gonna have quite a few important moments in their relationship!!!

tbh the knife scene was something i just came up with as i was writing and thought “yeah okay that would be funny” and now people seem to love it,,, good thing i love it too

thief’s friends are so incredibly important to me btw . tsumugi who just wanted to be their friend but was rejected and has turned to angie and tenko, ryoma who still doesn’t have a reason to keep going but wants to try because there is someone who cares enough to reach out, kokichi (derogatory/with love), kaede who betrayed them in thief’s mind and still haunts them - someone who broke their trust after they went out on a line for someone, kaito whom i need thief to spend more time with because honestly he deserves more scenes

i hope chapter three slam dunks you into another dimension anon (said with so much sincerity and love), we got major canon divergence incoming ^-^

ive caught up w blue lock.... (anime only not manga sorry I usually dont read mangas lol) some Thoughts:

biggest critique is the use of the overpowered self insert characters lmao. like isagi is the generic japanese teen boy who despite having no significant athletic ability is able to rapidly improve and compete w some CRAZY talented guys, ego is the slightly older generic japanese 20 smth whose ideas about things are taken 100% seriously and given a bunch of money and little to no criticism ('cant argue w him hes RIGHT') for some truly batshit ideas. I’m not a huuge fan of that sort of thing (as I’m not the target audience) and it makes me roll my eyes p much constantly sorry :/

second biggest critique is that I CANNOT take soccer this seriously ksagjavshshfdsshhsh sorry but it is Not that big of a deal 😭 plus the amount of goals theyve been scoring from the start is super unrealistic I feel (tho maybe thats a biased opinion from the only soccer ive watched being whatever my dad has on in the english premier league or whatever??? idk I feel like those are always 1-3 goals total for the game for the most part)

HOWEVER. I do like the show I promise. listing good things now those are my only gripes really!!!

bachira is v v v good, he's my lil guy ❤️ I also like nagi a lot tho!! which surprised me bc hes not usually my character type but idk.... hes fun teehee. his relationship drama w reo and new friendship w isagi is keeping me SO hooked

general shoutout to all the side characters tbh; ive liked p much all of them so far?? also the drama squad of nagi/barou/chigiri all rooming together KILLED MEEE I love them sm

despite criticizing isagi in the first point I actually do also like isagi a lot LMAO. I didnt think I would but ive been really engaged by the way he thinks about the matches and puts things together, esp in the second selection! makes it somewhat more believable that hes made it so far but also just like. the connections themselves are v cool idk it feels like a good version of the whole 'ive planned this 30 steps ahead of u' thing

I also like how theyve been balancing the 'you need to work w a team to maximize potential' and 'you need to have your own individual skill to be worth anything' thing to! I was actually super pleased by the way barous arc ended; having him suddenly be willing to work w people wouldnt have felt right, but I wouldve gotten real sick of him if he never changed either, so him and isagi just fighting the whole time on the field was a cool way to resolve that!! new ways to combo and everything hehehe

bachira and isagis relationship is making me SOOO crazy u have no idea. they like each other so much and theyre so ready to throw hands at any moment but theyre literally making out while they play against or w each other ahhh. mentioned in the tags of my earlier post but I’m SO excited to see whether or not isagi actually picks bachira if/when he beats this 4v4; I feel like atm bachira hasnt really evolved explosively like everyone else yet so if that stays true and isagi ends up picking rin instead I’m gonna be SOO pumped to see how bachira responds to that!! I think thatd be a really cool growth arc for him and isagi both tbh. plus a nice parallel to nagi and reo since I think bachira would be less pissed and more motivated, might get the evolution that (it seems) reo isnt getting 👀 ofc I could just be wrong hahahaha

final mention I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ops and eds theyre so fun!! the songs are boppin hehehehe

first of all, i'm a HUGE zelda fan. i dont post much about it anymore, but in 2017 ca i was veeery deep into zelda games (and zelink omg-), i played all of them save for triforce heroes (never got to manage to play multiplayer online, and playing solo is a pain in the ass). i can't pick ONE fav zelda game; i tend to divide them by 2d zelda games and 3d zelda games, and my fav orders are:

3d games

1) ocarina of time, breath of the wild (cant choose sorry)

2) twilight princess, skyward sword (again CANT CHOOSE! theyre too special to me)

3) wind's waker

4) majora's mask

5) tears of the kingdom

2d games

1) link's awakening

another saga i'm really invested in is assassin's creed. yeah i know, a bit basic, but i'm a history and archaeology major so what did you expect :']

my favs are the ezio ones, especially AC2. and as an italian player who doesnt get to see ofter her own country in videogames, trust me when i say playing in florence, rome and venice was SO AWESOME. also ezio is babigirl and i love him a lot.

BUUUUUT, almost even with the ezio games is AC origins. i mean, ancient egypt?! i'm in!!! and bayek is a super solid main character (also daddy) and i loved his arc A VERY LOT!!!

altair (AC 1) is third place; i simply love the first AC game. still solid today imo

i didnt play much the america saga; i could never managed to bring myself to continue play ACIII, i hated it 😭 i tried to play it like, 4 times?, and i never got past the part with connor's dad. i find the gameplay awful and stupidly boring :// BUUUT i played and enjoyed AC rogue, the one where the MC is a templar dude: not bad, interesting plot, i'd say it's a 6.5/10

tbh unity IS NOT THAT BAD?? mind that i first played it in like 2018 so all the infamous cursed bugs were long gone. i dont even remember the face of the MC dude, but i do remember i liked eloise. and omg paris, and french revolution!!!! the gameplay is funny, so it's okay.

about syndicate, i dont remember much about it but i do remember i enjoyed it. it was nice, gameplay 7/10. also the MC girl was hot.

bonus chronicles mention: i never expected to say this, but platform assassin's creed works!! the china story was my fav :3

AC odyssey is a great action game and i enjoyed playing it a lot; but it's a TERRIBLE assassin's creed game. let me explain. you cant give me the multiple dialogue options and different endings when THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ASSASSIN'S CREED MODERN LORE IS THAT I'M RE-LIVING MY ANCHESTORS' PAST. if it's a PAST that someone ALREADY LIVED, you can't give me different dialogue options and DIFFERENT ENDINGS!!!!! note that i love assassin's creed as a saga, but the "present" plot (the one with desmund, the abstergo etc)? i hate it with all my heart, i dont care about it, i dont give a shit about desmond &co, i just want to play a nice story settled in the past!!!! but noooo they HAD to put the weird "templars and assassins are still here today and they're still fighting and here's a machine that reads your DNA and allows you to relive the past" plot, they TORTURED ME for YEARS of games with this stupid ass modern subplot... and THEN they give me a multi endings games?? so the whole "it's the past" shit doesnt mean SHIT?????? oh my god it's so annoying. i hate it. again, odyssey is a nice game, but really whats their fucking problem :// i will forever be mad about it lmao.

i didnt played valhalla and i dont really care about it, but i plan to play mirage asap. also, i can't wait for shadows :333

super paper mario was one of my favourite game when i was a child, i used to remember the tippi and count bleck backstory by MEMORY. i want to play it again-

back to fire emblem: i played sacred stones (8/10 game <3<3<3) and all the "new" ones. awakening and echoes shadow of valencia are my fav right after three houses: robin is So Important to me; and i think i'm one of the few people that actually enjoys echoes gameplay xD (and its soundtrack is FIRE!!! i listen to it when i study along with the three houses one!!)

fates? ehhhhh. let's just say i'm grateful for elise and jacob. but. that's it :////

now a bit of yuzu lore: the first console i ever had was the wii, and it was a christmas gift when i was 12 and my two other siblings a bit younger. i was very excited bc i spent years asking for a nintendo DS (i wanted to play videogames!!) but my father was strictly against it. but then omg! one day "santa claus" finally brought us a wii! i could finally play videogames!!! well, two weeks after my mother asked for divorce to my father. :'] and yes she eventually admitted she bought us the wii to "try to console us" bc she already planned to ask for divorce (idk if it's questionable but it sure did work). anyway the following months were absolutely hell, my father refused to go away and he and my mother fought a lot and yadayada i had my first major depressive episode yadayada, normal stuff for divorced people's kids i guess. anyway my point is: that wii kept me (actually us, me and my siblings) company and helped us bond and stay together during some of the hardest time of our lives. and we played a lot mario kart wii, and some just dance games (3, 4, 2015 in particular). and after all this time, i'm still very attached to these games. when i play any just dance game i remember the days i spent trying to master some choreographies (days where i couldnt manage to go to school due to anxiety, but the Motivation To Master That Specific Song made me wake up from the bed at least); same for mario kart wii: me and my siblings still play mario kart a lot (now the switch one actually:'] ). so i'll count them between my fav games!

similar thing for super smash bros brawl (i mean it was along the Divorce Hell Period Games i played), but it got a very special spot in my heart, more than just dance and mario kart. me and my sibling (4 years younger than me) really bonded over that game at the time, and it was OUR first "big" contact with nintendo games. also my main were zelda+sheik and samus and YES, THEY DID SOMETHING TO MY GENDER. I DONT KNOW WHAT BUT THEY MADE SOMETHING TO ME-

i'm also a huge nerd for monster hunter, even if i only played world and rise. i think i have like 500+ hours on world? man i love that game. my main weapon is the insect glaive: I LOVE JUMPING AROUND AND HAVING A LIL INSECT BUDDY!!!!! i also enjoy using the dual blades and the bow. also my internet nickname, "yuzu", is also the name of my MHworld character i made back in 2018 <3 rise was nice too but i will forever be a world girl. that game allowed me to reconnect with a friend when we were in high school, so it's special <3

i've never really got to play final fantasy until a few years ago. i played the 10th first, then the 8th, i started the 7th, and when the 16th came out last year i played it a bit with my boyfriend. since the 10th is my first, it's also my favourite obv :'] the 8th has a cool story, but here's the deal: i HATE the (original) combat system of final fantasy 😭 in my opinion, it has the worst parts of both action and strategy games: it's frenetic, but you have to select the move?? wtf is this 🤨 i guess that's why i enjoyed the 10th so much, since it's turn based for real, unlike the others. about the 16th: i played it just a bit, BUT I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! the combat system is so fun, and MAN the music!!!! i havent got the time to properly finish it bc "my" ps5 is actually my boyfriend's, and when i can play i prefer to play bg3 xD but i'll get to it one day or another :'] i'm curious to play the 7th remake, but i want to play the original first. i also started playing X-2, but after seeing the yuna idol scene, i turned off my playstation. i mean, what have they done to my girl ._.

2) Least Favorite Game?

okkk i wont take the easy way out and pick a spin offff. its probably THH. dont get me wrong I LOVE THH i mean obv. i wouldnt be this obsessed with danganronpa if i didnt like it. i legit played it in one week while muting all my online highschool classes (it was 2020).

but i just didnt connect to the cast on an individual level like i did with the others. like i love the cast as a whole and do have some characters i really like, but for the most part i like the characters less than the other games. thats really the only reason i put it at the bottom of the 3.

7) Favorite Class Trial From All The Games?

well i like the 2nd games trials the most and this is probably gonna be weird butttttt probably chapter 4's trial. the funhouse one. when i played it i actually paused playing danganronpa for like a month or something in the middle of the trial and then came back to it. i dont remember why, maybe i was frustrated but i dont think that was the case? anyway that trial is just so self contained and silly because of the setting that it just really sticks out to me.

9) Favorite Execution?

ok this is a hard one. i love kaitos cause of how meaningful it is and the fact that it references literally the opening of the first game. i also like makotos cause of how crazy it is in the first game to be like "wait am i gonna die??" i think people forget about how cool that moment is because of kaedes death. but if we are talking about like the mechanics of the execution i really like pekos cause of how it represents her seeing herself as being a tool cause shes being controlled in her execution.

32) Favorite Culprit?

i meannnnn kaito? lol cause like THAT CHAPTER AND INVESTIGATION IS JUST SO GOOD YOU GUYS!! but lets say that doesnt count cause of the nuance in it. probably celeste tbh. her plan was really complex but like realistically complex? i like that about the first game, the murder plans were some what more realistic. and hers was so active and just fun to be involved in as weird as that sounds. like i kinda knew something was up cause she was so active in it but i still liked how she did it.

36) Favorite Antag Character?

god this is so hard... i go back and forth between nagito and kokichi so much. i think nagito is more of a looming threat and just works better in the overall game as an antag. cause kokichi isnt really a real issue until he makes gonta kill miu. like he causes issues before but they aren't that serious. which tbh is just the difference between their characters. cause i believe kokichis words that he didnt actually like the killing game and was just playing along to try and stop it. which makes sense why he would be more observant at first rather than active. nagito is just all about getting the ultimates to prove themself, the killing game is more just a tool for him rather than something he is focused on. so it makes sense why hes active from the beginning. soooo idk i cant choose lol they are both so good. i love byakuya too but out of the 3 hes at the bottom.

i cant believe the supposed “bad” or not true ending of persona 5 royal is not actually the correct ending

it seems so happy and perfect with how it looks, most games would consider that the true ending but ig coz the games theme is rebelling against an unjust society and the sorts, it wouldnt be right for marukis world to be real, they even voice acted it and put so much effort into an ending that would usually be avoided if u wanted to finish the game, god damn p5r is written pretty well

and once i beat the final palace, i pre much have 100% achievements and moving onto p3p 🤔 and then probs after playing thru p3p twice to get 100% achievements, ill be replaying p4g

even crazier is that jokers teammates dont actually notice anything about the world they were given, only joker and akechi notice or know about it but joker is just praying that the ending chosen was a good ending

and then i can kinda understand marukis ending coz like a world where no one gets hurt. in marukis palace theres a part where u answer a questionnaire or multiple and one question where it had something to do with ur goals with the answers being “continue trying to reach ur goal”, “do whatever it takes to reach ur goal” or “give up and move onto a new goal/dream” actually made me realise that i usually take the easy way out in most things 😢 its kinda sad, id go for the final option and usually give up and move onto another dream/goal, which also explains why i never get addicted to have anything im rly passionate about since ill just give up when i hit a slump or just cannot progress aaaaaaaa p5r is so good

but the biggest problem with marukis ending is that ur happiness is just given to u, u dont think at all, uve got one singular path laid out for u to follow and while i find that decent and nice, its also rly fun and nice to struggle and come out on top, tho for me i usually only do those things for simpler activities such as coding, im fine with struggling with figuring out how to code something coz at the end its just so satisfying to figure it out and make it work, but at the same time, i wouldnt mind a path laid out for me since im the type of person to go with the flow and follow alongside others, but im also pretty neutral so while idm it, id also not like it and would like a path that makes me want to struggle and want me to reach my goals/dreams 🤔 aaaaaa theres so much to think about

tbh never thought a game would make me wanna type this much about it but after reading the comments of the “bad” ending, it got me wanting to share my own opinions but didnt wanna do it in the yt comments

like no cap if marukis reality were real, it would be great coz it means ur friends who suicided would come back, cats and dogs would live longer, etc and then i could have my best friend who suicided come back to life and while thats great and all itll also mean the struggles of coping with his death would disappear, it would mean id spend less time trying to catch up with ppl, thanking ppl for talking with me, letting ppl know i cared and id go back to the person whod disappear every once in a while, never thanking anyone for games, never thanking anyone for anything and making people question whether i rly found it fun to hang out with them or whether i cared about them much, so much to think about 💀 but i can genuinely understand where maruki is coming from where he doesnt want anyone to be hurt since id like the same 😢

SPOILERS FOR ARCANE CLEARLY

First of all so caitvi was heavily implied but they dont even get to smooch and i know why but thats still a coward move when we had fucking JAYCE SEX scene... cant believe Jayce was the first league character to fuck on screen

Second, I fucking love Ekko he looks so good I love him my boy he's amazing and he's getting shit done and he's the one character that was 100% right alright? alright

Jayce had a very interesting arc huh... he's not at all like the character in the game and I like this Jayce better I think, but it's just.... very different from in game Jayce its hard trying to even put those two together

I really liked the story overall, how Piltover and Zaun were treated... very interesting... I feel like it dealt a lot with consequences, often, all the time actually. The price we pay for the things we do.

Now Viktor, my speciality... What do I think of Arcane Viktor....

I think he's a new character tbh, although similar to in game Viktor like I mentioned before, and similar motivations I think act 3 put a major difference between them while drawing from a same theme?? thing?? I'll explain

Act 3 had Viktor start to use desperate, even harmful means to help himself and it worked. But when he was out of shimmer he decided to just keep pushing it. He was desperate, he tasted freedom for a second and he wanted more. And there were consequences, when someone got killed for it. I think it's WILD thats hes just gonna hide that specially cause it didnt seem like anyone would investigate the poor girl just fucking disappearing but ive playing a lot of DD lately and stories of guilt is something i got used to UASHDUHSDA.... But yeah back on topic, he seems to put a stop on his research with shimmer, specially seeing the girl was helping him figure out another way that was less desperate. That's interesting, because the ideia for the Glorious Evolution does come to Viktor when he's at his lowest, after being sabotaged and seeing death and suffering and sinking into an isolated depression, it WAS born of desperation as well, and mental instability, even if it's something that he truly believes him, something that kept him alive and could save lives.

And here's what separate arcane viktor from lol viktor, right? Arcane Viktor seemed to use magic and outside means to achieve his results and in exchange seemed to corrupt the magic or his cells?? in the process. we see the hexcore taking the form of something that resembles the void even. But that says nothing of Viktor's genious. It feels like he just, did something anyone could do?? Like, he's not taking a big leap and creating something new it just feels like he injected drugs did a little twirl and voila, working leg.

I feel like there's much more conviction and ingenuity in LOL Viktor not replicating human limbs, but improving them by merging flesh with metal, replacing flesh with metal with something BETTER, soemthing taht works, and doing it on himself to prove it. The whole magic thing feels cheap to me, and they call it hextech but I dont feel it. Arcane viktor is not a cyborg he just kinda... mutated? Idk the word. It's like he's Mundo or soemthing idk Mundo's lore forgive me.

But you know what, it kinda works for Viktor arcane's little arc abt hubris or something, paralel to everyone elses. "Are you really willing to go that far?". But he says it himself "there's always a choice". And he chose to not go any further with that path, even if it might mean a premature death.

So yeah, I like Viktor Arcane, it's not Viktor LoL but he's cool. He deserves better too, it's hard not to sympathize with him, he's made like that. Viktor lol is a lil bonkers its understandable ppl not sympathizing. Vry interesting choice they made there, wish Riot would give him any content at all like skins and shit but what can you do

Kuroo’s a musical nerd. Knows all of the lyrics to Hamilton, BMC, DEH, Heathers, Rent, Beetlejuice, Etc. Kenma considered dropping him because of it

Iwaizumi tells the worst dad jokes and Kyotani, wanting to beat him, started doing it too and it drives everyone insane

Yahaba and Matsukawa get along surprisingly well. Both are true crime freaks and bond over their forensic files obsessions

Matsukawa didn’t really like his thick eyebrows so he got one of his female friends to pluck it for him, but almost cried and gave up after the first hair. Oikawa called him a pussy for the next year

Hanamaki jokingly flirts with everyone on the team so most of them just got used to it, but it still confuses Kindaichi to the point of mental breakdown

Makki called Kyotani ‘puppy’ as a joke once and now mad dog is truly terrified of him

Kyotani’s dog absolutely ADORES Oikawa and it’s the funniest shit to the rest of the team

Mattsun and Makki play DnD and once convinced Yahaba and Kyotani to join. Kyotani kept rolling to fight everyone and Yahaba was a bard that kept rolling to seduce everyone. They kept yelling across the board so they had to kick them out

Outside of his school uniform, Goshiki specifically wears only plaid

Tendou makes little chocolates for the whole team every once in a while so they don’t think he’s scary

Semi and Shirabu once had a fistfight in an abandoned McDonald’s parking lot while Tendou filmed and Goshiki cheered them on

Everybody makes fun of Shirabu’s haircut but nobody dares to say it to his face. its gotten to the point where they say he got it done by a blind old lady
