Thinking of Steve with PTSD from the torture in Starcourt. (TW: explicit memories physical torture)
Steve, who wakes up feeling hands punch him. Steve, who sometimes gets his fingers caught on knots in his hair, tugs at them accidentally, and suddenly feels the needle against his neck again. Steve, who can't remember the last time it didn't feel like someone was touching him, even when there's no one there.
During the day, it's not so bad. It whispers over his skin, but sometimes it's like it goes completely silent, drowned by the chaos of the kids or Robin's antics. But nights, or any time he's alone in his house, are hard. His skin burns from being slapped, pinched, injected, and the walls waver and morph into the basement of Starcourt for hours.
Obviously, Robin get's it, she was there too, so the pair try to spend as much time as possible together. But on the night's she's working, or her parents force her in and Steve out, he struggles, avoiding his house like the plague.
It's on one of these nights he meets Eddie. Eddie, who's a little skeptical of him, but who saw his fall from grace, and can see the wild fear in Steve's eyes from a mile away. Eddie, who's always ready to adopt a stray sheep. Eddie, who's babbling brings him back to earth, even when he has no idea what he's on about. He learns Eddie's funny, and loud, and brings life to his sickeningly quiet home in a way no-one else can, and Eddie learns he's not a stuck-up bully of a jock, and it quickly becomes a routine for them to meet whenever Robin's busy. Overtime, Eddie learns Steve struggles because of what he went through in Starcourt, but not much else.
One night, he rocked up to Steve's for a movie night, and he can tell instantly it's a bad day. Steve looks haunted, there's no other word for it. He knows he's going to have to pull out the extra Munson Special to be able to get a real smile out of him tonight.
But it doesn't work. In fact, Steve just seems to be getting worse.
He keeps zoning out, knuckles wise where they grip his jeans, the sofa, anything. And not only is he shaking in general, he's also jolting. And... dodging. Like some invisible figure is hitting him.
Eddie's so worried, he actually stops talking, just watches for a little bit and. Steve doesn't notice. He just keeps breathing too fast. Keeps staring at some ghost in his past. Keeps flinching.
Saying Steve's name isn't enough to get his attention, so slowly, carefully, Eddie reaches for him, placing a hand on his arm, just lightly. But it's enough to make Steve reel back.
They're both apologising in seconds, Steve looking distraught as he assures Eddie it's fine, he's just being stupid, and Eddie saying he should have asked, it's no big deal. But Eddie doesn't miss the sheen in Steve's eyes as he nods, or the tremble to his lips.
He takes a deep breath. Asks, "Steve? what's going on?" Watches as Steve tenses impossibly more for one second. Two. Then crumbles.
"I- I can just f-feel- and-and it hurts, and I don't-"
"Okay, okay, what can I do?"
But Steve just whines, because he doesn't know, he just feels pain everywhere and he just needs to make it stop.
Cue Eddie wracking his brains, and asking where it hurts the worst. Cue Eddie asking if Steve trusts him (and of course he does). Cue Eddie talking Steve through what he's about to do. Cue Eddie gently reaching out to touch Steve's neck, rubbing his thumb over it gently, holding his breath as Steve goes rigid underneath his hand, only to let it out when a significant amount of the tension just bleeds out of him a few moments later.
Slowly, Eddie works his way around all the sore spots, murmuring soft assurances, gaining more confidence as Steve trembles less, breathes easier, and melts under his touch.
They end up with Steve's face buried in Eddie's shoulder, Eddie's arms around him firmly, but not tightly. And Steve doesn't have the words to explain why he needed this, what had caused this. But it doesn't matter. Because Eddie's got him.
From then on, Steve's always got someone to help him remember his body is his. Eddie doesn't hesitate to welcome Steve with a hug, run his hands over Steve's wrists, trail fingers over Steve's neck, or just wrap him up in a blanket and snuggle with him and watch a movie. It doesn't matter that Steve's not allowed to explain. He can piece enough together himself (and after Vecna, he learns anyway). It just matters that Steve is sleeping easier, and laughing more brightly. It just matters that Steve is his.

Geto Suguru
Regret has haunted Suguru ever since he parted ways with you; he's pining, lost, going mad. It kills him that he's made an enemy out of someone he loved.
► "I know that I ended it... but why didn't you stop me?"
+ Warnings/content: angst, pining, friends to enemies to lovers
Suguru's deepest regret is that he didn't kiss you before he parted ways. It eats him up more and more every day, like a parasite in his chest, chewing slowly on his muscles down to his bones.
Why didn't I kiss you?
He asks himself this so often — too often, god, he can't catch a break from his own mind, can't stop this regret from gnawing on his ribcage.
But isn't he his own obstacle? He chooses not to get over you. Yes, he actively chooses to not move on. Day after day, Suguru chooses to vividly remember the day he said goodbye to you — it's become his favorite film, he's memorized all the expressions, words, tones and romanticized it to no end.
We were perfectly tragic.
Late spring, flowers on the floor, black night, his tears, his shivering lashes, that quivering voice. Looking into his eyes, you saw that he wasn't prepared to let go.
He was holding onto you. Claws in your flesh.
Maybe that's why he chose to say farewell behind the 7-eleven; it was the place where you and him first met. The story was that both your Jujutsu schools had coincidentally assigned you two to exorcise the same curse; you were confused by Suguru's technique and wrongly went for him, like he was the bad guy — isn't it all so ironic now? You remember how he panted with a smile, like he got a kick out of fighting you, how he explained to you that it was a misunderstanding and that he was on your side. He remembers receiving a hateful look from you; it made his heart tick, leading him to wonder to himself what's wrong with me? I always love women who hate me.
Because of how you met, you and Suguru being 'enemies' was a running joke that carried on through your late teenage years.
Springs passed. Things changed — no, things got worse. Suguru was drowning and no one could see it, not even you, the girl who knew him like the back of her hand.
Suddenly, all those years spent living side by side each other in blissful, oblivious youth converged into a moment of goodbye.
There went by the scent of those falling flowers. Suguru's nerves were at full attention, sharp and prickly all over his skin. Goosebumps. He was jittery, even shaking — a look that you never thought he'd wear, being as cool as he always was.
You told him, "You don't have to be someone you're not just because of me." but he didn't want to hear that. No, he needed to hear something else. He needed to be told "Suguru, no matter what path you take, I'll always love you, deep down inside."
The night breeze chilled him. He stared down at you, eyes full of hurt like you've never seen in a man's eyes before.
Stark neon light from the vending machines painting your features, he didn't miss how your lips quivered. He leaned into you slowly, but then there was a sudden stutter in his movements. Something held him back.
Suguru chickened out from kissing you — that's what it seemed like to you, anyways.
But it was deeper than that. He never opened up about it. He just left. He just went.
. . . 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭,
and he's still haunted by memories of that night, heart rotting with regret. He can hardly sleep, can hardly eat, can hardly keep any food down — how could he stomach food when he can't even stomach his own choices?
Suguru visits the place where you and him first met.
He trudges through snow in winter, kicks leaves off his path in autumn — leans against the wall where the both of you once stood and just stares at the floor, allowing himself to hurt all over.
But no season makes him hurt quite like spring, when the scent of blooming flowers is so potent and strong that he chokes up.
What would you do if you saw him again?
He's thought so deeply about what he'd say to you that it's become a script; he knows the words by heart.
Why didn't you stop me?
Did you have feelings for me?
Do you hate me?
Please let me kiss you. Just once.
No, he's scratched the last one off his script.
He sighs to himself all the time — all the time. How did he make an enemy out of the one he loved?
A question that plagues his brooding mind is do you still love me even after what I did? He wonders if it's even possible. Sometimes he just settles on the assumption that you and Satoru hold a deep hatred against him.
. . . 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮,
your face appears around the corner; he can't mistake it.
Meeting you again after years have passed, though as enemies, makes him feel stilled, like all the chaos stops momentarily.
He doesn't know what to say, or how to act, so he just stays silent and motionless in front of you.
You speak and feelings start to rip him apart. "Suguru, where have you been?"
It's awkward. It's melancholic. The tension between you and Suguru is not just because of the gruesome truth of what violence he committed, nor the betrayal; no, it's more than all that.
He's utterly speechless, holding an unbreaking eye contact with you. Gazing into your eyes after so many years of staring into fuzzy photographs makes him feel giddy like a little kid, despite the severe expression you have.
You talk slowly and carefully to him, almost warily, and it breaks his heart little by little.
"I know we're not allies, but I'm still the same Suguru that you used to spend nights talking to." he quietly reminds you, hurt evident in his voice.
He gazes deeper into your eyes, deeper and deeper until he's dizzy. You hardly know how to respond.
"Suguru," you whisper back, tearing up, "Why did you do it?"
He doesn't respond, completely ignoring this.
"... I still think of you."
"... hey, answer me."
As he comes two steps closer, you back two steps away.
"... and I left so many things unsaid."
"... Suguru, I know, but — "
"... and I should have kissed you before I left." he blurted out.
Shocked, you take a moment to register what he just said.
"Why didn't you?"
"I just didn't want to taint you." he breaths, "I'm too fucked up and you're too sweet for me."
He brings his face closer to you, casting a shadow over your whole body, backing you into the wall. The setting sun peeks out from behind him, the breeze slows.
Suguru looks at you like an adoring, sad puppy. His face is full of all his regret and lust and longing and desperation. You've never seen this look in his eyes before — he's kept everything to himself ever since you met him.
Looking intently at your lips and wetting his own, he begs you softly, "Please, let me kiss you."
You shake your head very slowly, feeling so conflicted.
"Just once? Please, I need it so badly." he admits desperately, and then says your name in the softest tone you've ever heard a man speak in; your name, every letter so special to him, each syllable quivering in the air between your faces.
He's so close you can see every detail in his face; the harrowed eyebags, the sorrow in the wrinkles of his eyes, and flashes of memories in his pupils. Even more than all that, you can see the downturn of his parted mouth.
"I want to," you admit, swallowing sharply, "But I can't."
Lashes fluttering so sorrowfully, Suguru pulls back a little.
It's the same place, the same season, and the same pitiful situation.
There's a small silence in which you feel a madly desperate feeling emanating from Suguru, and then he crashes his lips onto yours so hard that you whimper.
Breathing hard, heart thumping up against his chest, Suguru holds you in place while he presses his wettened lips against you, tilting his head to the side to deepen the kiss.
You quickly surrender to him, and when you reciprocate his kiss — he whimpers. It's so subtle and quiet, but you feel it on your lips and tongue.
Kissing until you both run out of breath, Suguru finally pulls away — plucking little kisses from your lips as he does, like he just can't stop yet.
"I'm so sorry," he apologizes heavily, still keeping close to your face, not ready to let go. "I need you."
You look up into his eyes and he feels shivers going down his back.
"... I won't tell Satoru." you breathe.
His breath catches, and he doesn't hesitate to go in for the next kiss — and the next and the next and the next until you're letting him mark your neck with a harsh hickey.
Of course, you can't spend all day there, you realize after fifteen minutes of making out with your 'enemy'.
"I've got to report back." you tell him, "He's going to get suspicious if I'm out too long."
"Okay," Suguru pulls away, licking his lips and rubbing them together like he's just enjoyed a feast. "Can I see you again?"
"I don't know..." you mutter unsurely, "If Satoru finds out, he's going to — "
"So what?" Suguru feathers, "I don't care what he does, I don't care if I ruin your reputation — I need you in my arms tomorrow."
Your expression spoke volumes.
"Okay, I'll be here tomorrow night." you murmur.
Suguru's guilt hardly affects him as he goes home; your kisses meant everything to him. Your reciprocation and lamb-like weakness in his arms filled him with ecstasy.
He doesn't care that you were his 'enemy' — maybe the taboo makes it feel even better. It's wrong. It's not allowed. And he wants it so bad, he stands with eager anticipation behind the 7-eleven every night, waiting for you.
This place where you two first met, now five years later, has become a spot where you and him make out like teenagers.

BEING CHILDHOOD FRIENDS WITH STEB ✨🌌 🎀🌌✨
You surely met because your parents were Friends,or simply because you two went to the same School
Does piltover has schools?
Anyways,if you two met in School (im sorry for this one) he was bullied.
Either was for just being himself of just by the way he looks,it's more common (like we all see) to see vastayas like Scar but,a fish-type vastayas is very difficult to see, even more in Piltover.
So,you were there, watching a scene where two kids were annoying the litle Steb.
(Poor little thing)
So you,as a little kid yourself, went directly to them and ask them what the hell whats their problem? (In a kid dialect,of course)
The two kids left Steb alone to focus on you,and you decides to confront them.
You started to attack with words of them being mean to Steb with no reason, the two annoying kids started to get...well...started to cry at your words and run away.
You saw a little Steb (maybe a year older than you) and you offered him your hand, with a smiling face and a your natural blush on your cheeks.
Steb (as he is) is a kid of little to no words, but when he is with you, this doesn't happen.
He can be hours and i mean HOURS chatting with you, about anything.
If you're in the same class,he will inmediatly change his seat next to you so you can study, eat and do everything together.
If you're in different class,he just keep looking at the clock, can't wait to see you in break time!
(Do you know the dynamic of she fell first, but he fell harder??)
Well, something like that happen to him.
You,of course, develop true feelings for him quickly, let's say in 3rd grade (8 years) and you couldn't help but look at him,be close to him, make pijama parties to sleep with him you're kids OK?? EVERYTHING next to him,and when you started to grow older, this didn't change.
And the way he looked at you (before) was something like...admiration,respect he didn't wanted to be with you,he wanted to be LIKE you.
But...as he grow older, the more he realized that he coudn't find someone more perfect than you.
When you two are teenagers you two are just the akward friends who likes each other but are too shy or too coward to show their feelings for each other.
Steb,Will always stay still, but close to you, meanwhile you, always start physical touch, either is touching his knee with yours, resting your head on his shoulder, you know...those things that Friends totally do.
Slowly,It the ball of graduation was coming, and as expected, you rented a beautiful Aqua blue dress/suit (you said you wanted to combine with him) while he was in a White suit (god he looks so handosme)
You two danced along all night, drank, and more dancing!
You were enjoying your time with him,you surely was!
One moment, you stopped him and said you wanted to get a glass, but he didn't let you,he grabbed you by your hand
You:Why wouldnt you let me? It's just a glass...
You asked not annoyed,but concerned.
Steb:Because...if you don't remember this night, this won't do the worth...
And then,he slowly pull you by the hand, you staying in front of him.
You now were surely concerned for real.
To remember what?
Then, the slow song started to play,It was not fast but either that slow,It was a rythm in which couple can slowly dance, take their partners and kiss at the middle of the song while resting the head on their chest.
You:Steb what....what are you doing? this is for couples...
Steb:I know...
Steb slowly put your hands on his shoulders and with his glowing, mesmerizing blue eyes looked at you, asking for permission to put his hand on your waist.
The beat slowly began to travell through your body, and you listen to the lyrics carefully...
I would never fall again until i found her
...
I was lost within the darkness until i found you
I found you
You:Steb...what is this...
Of course...you were not refereing to the song
What is this feeling? You thought
Steb:I...you...you are the most splendid, amaizing, and steongest person i have ever met.
A pause was made
But if it wasn't for that day,the day you saved me...literally and metaphorically...i'm not able to think a day in my Life without you on It.
And thinking of making our lifes apart after School, destroys me.
And i'm not asking you to say yes because i don't have that much to offer,but i promise you,i won't dissapoint you,i won't leave you,i won't betray you,ever.
So,please (y/n)....could you be my Life from now on?
Your eyes began to slowly glaze over, and your mouth was slighlty open,to let in a little bit of oxygen,to let you live this moment,to let you process this was happening.
Steb carefully looked,at your eyes,he didn't know what to expect, honestly.
The song is over, theres no respond yet,he slowly takes his hand off your waist,in dissapointment.
But you don't,you wanted to live this moment over, and over and over again.
You:Steb...I...I..
You take a pause, your hands still on his shoulders, you looked at his shoes.
A few tears began to fall on his shoes.
You looked up,looking at him with the biggest, most charming smile you have ever had
You: you have no idea how much i've been eating for you.
A/N-PLEASE english is not my first lenguage and my keyboard is in spanish soo, yup, that's It,if theres any error, please forgive me ;)
Hope you like It as much as i liked to write this!

hiiii jade! i absolutely adore your writing, and when i saw you might be taking blurb requests i had to jump on it lol
can i request maybe a little blurb where reader goes to pick up her bf remus at the airport after a long time apart/being long distance for several months?
i hope thats not too specific, and please feel free to ignore it if it doesn't inspire you!
thanks gorgeous!
You might have worried that a long separation would make things fall apart. Remus would want things you couldn't offer over the phone, or he'd find someone at his university that was more interesting, but one conversation kept you going, one confession.
If you can't do it, I won't go, he'd said.
You hadn't known what he meant at first, still mulling over the idea of his being away for so long. What?
It wasn't fathomable. It was everything he'd ever worked toward, the peak of his career, the culmination of all his successes. You honestly thought before he said it that you wouldn't have a choice. Either you had to make it work for you or he'd leave you to live his life.
But no. If it means we won't last, I won't go, he'd clarified, looking you in the eye, his lips hooked into one of his fond smiles. You're more to me than any of it. If we can't stretch the distance, I'll stay home. I'm happy to stay home.
Obviously, he had to go. But it's a lot to know you're loved like that, so deeply he'd give up everything he worked for just to keep you. You'd never make him choose, and hence began the longest, most heart-breaking five months of your life. Every time you were supposed to visit him plans fell through. Each time he tried to come back there were things to do. But you know he got on his plane home, and you're pretty sure you know which escalator he's going to come down. You wait at the bottom of it, waiting, waiting. You start to worry he's somewhere else.
"You come here often?" a warm voice asks from beside you.
You flinch. "That's not funny!" you hiss, but then you get a good look at him and have to fight to stave off tears. Remus stands next to you, suitcase to his left, backpack weighing down his shoulders. He looks tired, but excitement lightens his eyes.
Five months you will never, ever get back, and Remus is still so handsome.
"Dove," he says. You almost forgot how he says it, like it's yours alone to be called. "Lovely, come here."
You step into his arms: too much, too rough, almost chinning him as he grabs you. "Remus," you say in a gasp, startled as he bends back under your weight and your heels rise off of the floor. "Don't! Don't do that, I'm gonna crush you."
He sets you back down carefully, but he doesn't say much, and he certainly doesn't let you go. You don't notice his quiet at first. You're too busy being selfish, soaking in the realness of his arms, the rigidity of his biceps and his forearms wrapped around you.
"Was your flight okay?" you ask, tipping your head back.
"It was fine." A silver shine of tears nestles between his soft lashes. "It felt long."
"Don't cry," you say, again startled. "Remus, don't be upset. I'll start crying too and then we'll be that couple who cries on each other at the airport."
He smiles and a tear rolls down his cheek. "I missed you. What was I thinking? What was I," —he scrubs at his eyes roughly— "thinking, I could be away from you that long?"
You wipe his eyes much more gently. "I love you."
"I love you too," he says, leaning down for a kiss.
Your first kiss in five months has a lot to live upto. You'd been the one crying as you said goodbye at the airport, and Remus had left you with a kiss to remember, firm and sweet with his hands on either side of your face, as if to say, everything will be alright.
You have to do the reassuring now. You weave your fingers into the soft mop of his sandy brown hair, his gentle curls, brushing them away from his cheek as you kiss him. It's definitely too open of a kiss for a public place and you're both prone to shyness, so after a few stolen seconds of heat you break the kiss to hide your face in his collar.
"Please don't go away again."
Remus laughs and sniffles. "No. I don't think I'd survive it."

°°°
You hadn't plan to fall for him at first. But it wasn't that hard to notice his own longing stares and embarrassing efforts to win you over.
You had assumed he would despise you for what your brothers have started, but you are not your brothers, and he knew that. You've always been kind to him since young, but never too close, not even with your own siblings.
Peace was found in solitude, and that was how most of your time was spent. Some may call you heartless, but your found more feelings and purity in stories than in reality.
For the world was crueller than the books made it seem like, and soon the library was your safe place.
You were quite annoyed when he started showing up there too frequently, always asking about what you're reading.
But when you saw his sincerity in actually wanting to know of your interests was real, having someone to talk to became less of a chore.
It even started to feel fun.
And so he became your first friend, first kiss and first lover. He intends to be your only.
Everytime he leaves to Dragonstone, letters will be sent every moon, and he will receive his own from Kingslanding. He was always careful to keep them to himself, gods know since Aemond lost his eye, the strain between his grandmother and his mother became stronger.
And he would always put his mother first as her heir, but you are his fresh cherry from a rotten tree, the ultimate test to his loyalty.
When news spread of the princess Rhaenyra's return to Kingslanding for her son's petition for the inheritance of Driftmark, You had to hold yourself back from showing just now excited you are to meet Jace again.
You also had to fight back the urge to bodyslam your brother to the ground everytime he opens his mouth to mock his nephews.
Aemond had remained bitter of the incident, and you couldn't blame him. You brother had lost a whole eye, he had the right to remain upset. But you still couldn't help the selfishness in you that draws you back to Jacaerys' side.
You hear the commotion servants made when they arrived, waiting for it to pass before approaching him, not wanting to seem too eager.
You lean againts the open door of his chambers, watching him put down his set if clothes by the table side.
"Hello there." You greeted with a knowing smile on your lips.
He freezes in his movements before turning towards you. You had no time to think when he immediately pulled you inside and slammed his doors shut.
Any words you've planned to say to him died on your throat when he has you againts the door, his lips immediately finding yours.
The kiss was hot and passionate, all of his yearning and longing pushed into it. Your hands roam his build, feeling up his tunic, searching for his skin, his warmth againts yours. His own hands stop yours, holding it by your side as he pulls away first for air.
He leans his forehead againts yours, and you can't help smiling as you meet his eyes.
"Missed me much?" He snorts, grinning himself.
"Don't act like you don't." He retorted. You only kept smiling, shaking your head. "Never said that did I? Hm." You fingers move up to trance his temples, caressing his face as if trying to remember all the details of his features you've feared to have forgotten.
He seems to understand the notion, with his own palms cupping your cheeks. "I'm here. I promise." He vows before engulfing your mouth with his again.
°°°
The only thing that went well that day was your reunion with Jace and his brother. Sir Vaemond was executed quite publicly by your uncle Daemon, unsurprisingly, and dinner was almost decent, until your brother decided he just had to open his mouth.
You were hurried to your chambers by your mother, and there was where you went and was met with your lover lounging in your room already, anxiously waiting for you to arrive.
"He knows what he was doing." Jace gritted out, pacing around.
"Of course he does, it's Aemond." He was obviously still infuriated with the events that occured, but your mind was drifting to what bits you heard from your mother and stepsister's conversation as you left.
Jacaerys and Lucerys was to leave to Dragonstone tonight.
Your abruptly stood up and cut off the rambling prince. "I should leave."
He halts and turn to you, wide eyed.
"Oh-Just a few more minutes? I'll stop talking to myself I promise." He pleaded, waving off his rambles.
You shook you head and pulled his hands to intertwine with yours. "No tis' not that, your mother will be here any minute, she wishes for you and Luc to be at Dragonstone by tonight, I heard her myself." You explain, gaze low as you fiddle with his rings.
You hear him inhale a sharp breath before swearing.
"I've just had you back." He sighs out, refusing to meet your eyes. It felt like the first time in ages you two met again, face to face, gazes never met.
"I know, I know. There always seem to be something between us, heh?" You try to lighten the mood, his face only souring more.
He winced at your words, tightening his grip on your hands before opening his eyes again. "You know, if she can't find me, she can't make me go." He says suggestively.
You gave him an amused look, frowning with a tight-lipped smile accompanied.
"What are you gonna do? Hide in the kitchen?" You tease, invoking a fond memory from childhood. He snorts as he checks outside his door for anyone before turning back to you. "Not hide, raid the kitchen."
"Ah sure." You grinned
He takes you by your hand and silently pulls you through the corridors before reaching the closed kitchen. The lock making the both of you scoff.
You had managed to pull it open by the age of 12.
"A little help?" He motioned. You took off a pin from your hair, making it come undone while the other pins fall apart on the floor.
"Fuck." You cursed, while Jacaerys works the lock with your pin. "We'll pick it up later." He simply affirms.
When a click was loudly made, he shoves the kitchen door open and sends you a smirk, earning an eye roll.
Entering the kitchen was entering an odd dazed memory. You can't remember exactly how long it has been since you've been with Jace, but it still feels like yesterday you two were sneaking out strawberry fudge cake and lemon tarts from the kitchen in the middle of the night, laughing quietly at the explosions of anger from the head kitchen lady that next morning.
His hand never leaves yours as you both head in. You sigh loudly as you pull open the cupboards to find leftover blueberry tarts. "My favourite." Savoring the tart, you finish it quickly, not caring for falling crumbs.
Jacaerys nudges your shoulder and takes no time to shove a piece of cheese toast in your mouth when you look his way.
You swatted his arm after almost choking on it. "Bastard." You scolded in a muffled voice.
As soon as the words leaves your mouth you regret them, seeing a flash of offense on his face. "Oh Jace-" An apology almost slipped until you saw the hint of a smile dancing on his lips.
Immediately your face turns irritated again as you smack him harder. "Bastard."
You two spent a few minutes forgetting your responsibilities and your parents as you indulge in chocolate cakes and reminiscing the past.
It wasn't hard to find the two of you in such position like old days. You two had a connection that made it seem as if you've never parted in the first place.
"You know." He says before chucking a tart in his mouth. "When I'm king? I'm gonna make a law that forces you to stay with me." His muffled words makes you choke on a giggle.
Jacaerys often has to present himself extra harder than her brothers, for all the rumours of his illegitimacy. But at times like this, you can truly see the sweet boy in him, who'd rather live off tarts and flying by day than busy himself with ruling and paperworks.
"I'm also going to make a law to ban anything other than these tarts to be served because holy shit." You agreed. "Mhm, the cook definitely did something with these."
Before either of you could counter eachother's words, a foreign voice interrupts.
"How about you make a law to ban tart robbers from nightly kitchen raids." Rhaenyra's voice booms through the room.
Both you and Jace freeze in your actions, mouth full of food, eyes wide, horrified at the circumstances you were found.
To make matters worse, she wasn't the only one there. You silently curse when you see your mother's figure leaning againts the door opposite of Rhaenyra. Both of them holding an unreadable expression.
A long silence lingered until you decided to speak up and ask first; "Are you going to kill us."
You might be hallucinating but you swore you saw your mother fight off a grin before she and Rhaenyra sighs tiredly.
"Just give me one of those damned cakes." She relented.

One time, shortly after they lost Eddie, Max asked Steve if he never got mad. She didn't look at him, just continued staring ahead, knees hugged to her chest. Her face was dotted crimson from their latest run-in with the dead, like a smattering of extra freckles.
“Do you even care at all? About what happened to Eddie?”
“Of course,” Steve said, fingernails digging crescents into his palm. “He was my friend.”
She huffed. “Friend, yeah. Whatever. Point is, I'd be furious at these undead fuckheads, but you? You're so calm. I don't get it.”
Steve hummed, thinking about how to explain.
“Of course I'm mad,” was what he settled on. “But you gotta keep a level head, or you'll do stupid things. I got you kids to protect. And besides, you think those undead fuckheads asked for this? It's the damn virus that's screwing us all over.”
It's funny how he remembers this now, months later, huddled into the shelter of a tree and peeling his pants away from his bleeding leg. Part of him is still hoping it's something else - that he cut himself falling through that window, that one of his last bullets ricocheted and got him, fuck, please anything but this.
But it is.
The teeth marks in his flesh, the way the wound is already festering and turning black, tell him all he needs to know.
“Fuck!” he swears, falling backwards and staring up at the darkening sky through stinging eyes. His hand twitches for his gun - he'd rather end it now than happening upon Robin or the kids later - but then he remembers he's out of ammunition. There's nothing he can do.
Nothing but lie here and let the fever take him and hope that whoever finds him puts a quick end to it.
*
He doesn't expect to wake up again, not as himself. When he does, his head is cradled in someone's lap and for a moment, he thinks he's back at their camp with Robin, that it was all a nightmare. But then he realizes he's still in the forest and the pain in his leg hits him like a ton of bricks.
“-quite the number on you, huh, big boy?”
Steve's groan turns into a gasp.
“Eddie? This isn't real, you're dead.”
Eddie grins, briefly. It tugs on the big, gnarly scar covering his jaw and the side of his face, just where Steve saw him get bitten. Then, his face settles back into grim determination.
“How long?”
Steve blinks against the confusion and the fever. “Huh?”
“Your leg, Stevie. How long since the bite?”
“I … I dunno,” Steve slurs. His head is pounding. He's burning inside. “Few hours?”
Eddie nods. “Gotta be quick then. Sorry, this is gonna hurt like a bitch.”
He places Steve's head on the ground, bustling around with something in the fire he has built next to their spot.
“What’re you-” Steve starts to say, trying to sit. That's when he realizes his wrists are tied above his head and panic kicks alive behind his ribcage. “Eddie?”
When Eddie turns, he's holding a knife. The blade is glowing orange.
“No,” Steve breathes, feebly straining against his bonds. “Nonono, Eddie, please!”
“Hey,” Eddie says. “Remember when we first met?”
The question comes from so far out of left field that Steve forgets to struggle. Eddie’s eyes are dark and serious in the firelight.
“You said to make it outta this, we gotta trust each other. You trust me?”
Steve doesn’t even hesitate. He nods. Eddie smiles, brief but pleased.
“Then let's go.”
Something nudges against Steve’s lips, something dry and leathery - a belt.
“You'll wanna bite down on something,” Eddie says, regret in his eyes. “Believe me.”
Swallowing down the humiliation burning in his throat, Steve opens his mouth.
“Atta boy,” Eddie praises, but the joke falls flat between them. “Let's fucking do this.”
And Steve's world disappears behind a wall of pain.
*
“Y’know,” Eddie murmurs. He's propped them up against the tree trunk, Steve’s head tucked under his chin, fingers combing Steve's sweat-soaked hair from his forehead. “I'd be lying if I told ya I never thought of tying you up and gagging you with my belt, but this was not what I imagined.”
Steve scoffs weakly, eyes straying down to his bandaged leg. “Did it work?”
Eddie shrugs. “Think so. Henry says you gotta cut the infection out before it spreads, but how much time you got depends on a lot of factors. Your fever seems to be under control , so that's good, but lemme know if you develop any unusual cravings. Brains, raw meat, that kinda-”
“Woah, hold on, who's Henry? Did he …”
Eddie interrupts his ramble when Steve’s fingers find the new scar on his jaw. He allows Steve to map the shape of it for a while before catching his fingers and pressing a kiss to them.
“Yeah. He's head of a safe zone, about twenty miles north from here. He's a scientist … well, used to be, and … Stevie, he thinks he knows how to cure it.”
“What? Eddie, that's incredible, where- We gotta tell the others, we gotta-” Steve has hardly startled upright when Eddie guides him back down.
“Right now, honey, all we gotta do is let you rest. Plenty of time to break the good news to the others tomorrow.”
And maybe it's the pain, or maybe it's the blood loss, or maybe it's the overwhelming bliss of having Eddie back, but Steve doesn’t find it in himself to argue.
“Alright,” he whispers, letting his head sag against Eddie’s chest and allowing the gentle rhythm of his beating heart to lull him to sleep. “Just … don't leave again.”
Eddie kisses the top of his head. “Wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart.”
He's broken that promise before. There's no guarantee he won't break it again, not in this fucked up nightmare they live in. But Steve trusts him.
That has to be enough.
Man, that Henry sounds like a swell fella, I'm sure nothing will go wrong.

Us.
pairing: Luke Castellan x Fem!Reader
summary: Y/N wonders if Luke misses her too, if it was real to him too. Luke isn't sure how to show her how he feels.
word count: 1362
warnings: major character death, angst
notes: this is based on 'Us.' by Gracie Abrams but it was written while watching Supernatural which made it a little dramtic so sorry about that
part 1 part 2 masterlist
Y/N stares at Luke, heart racing as she breathes through her mouth, air seemingly sucked out of her lungs as well as the surrounding area.
"What are you doing?" She asks lowly, not wanting to break whatever spell this is. She can't look at him, only able to stare at the flowers in his hand.
"I'm making amends." His voice is strained, as if he doesn't quite want to be saying the words. She's not sure what to think of that.
"I don't," She starts, blinking as she tries to find the words. She puts a hand to the almost faded bruise on her forehead, remembering the last time she saw him. "You hit me over the head with a sword." She says, as if he would have forgotten that.
"I know," He croaks, looking at his shoes. The flowers droop toward the ground, a bud falling to the dirt. He looks like he's truly sorry, like he feels bad about it, but all she remembers is how she felt waking up in the infirmary, headache pulsing in her temple and heart aching in her chest.
"I told you I loved you and you," She cuts herself off and looks away, tears coming into her vision. She cannot keep reliving that horrible day. Maybe Percy was right.
"I'm sorry, " He rushes out, stepping forward. "I honestly didn't think you were going to show up there." He tries to justify, and Y/N just stares at him.
"So you weren't going to even say goodbye." She summarizes, and tilts his head as he frowns.
"Y/N," He says softly, but she shakes her head.
"No, I get it." She puts her hands out, a sardonic smile on her face. "It was fake, so why would you care." She turns around, even though she doesn't want to leave. She knows she has to do it, put one foot in front of the other.
"It wasn't fake." She stops in her tracks, not turning to look but not leaving anymore. "I came up with the whole plan because I was in love with you and I didn't want to tell you because I knew what I had to do. And I didn't think you would love me back."
"So you hit me over the head with a sword? You left with Kronos! You bro-" She jiggles her leg in an attempt to keep her emotions in as her voice breaks, tears falling down her cheeks. "You broke my heart, Luke." She tells him in a soft, torn voice. She still can't look at him.
"I know. But I can make it up to you, I swear." He sounds like he's begging now, and she doesn't know what to do. She turns back to him, walking forward until she's almost pressed against him. She can't help it, the need to feel him close, even though she knows it's wrong.
"I can't leave my friends." She whispers, barely audible.
"I love you." Luke drops, and she can't help but press her lips to his. She doesn't know where to put her hands, so they float between Her and Luke as if she were about to put them on his chest. He grabs them as he drops the flowers to the ground, squeezing them tight and pulling her even closer.
"I love you too." She whispers when they part, foreheads leaning against each other. His thumbs rubbing against her hands, their breathes mingling. "But where do we go from here?" She asks, knowing she can't just move on. He hurt her irreparably.
"Come with me," Luke starts, leaning back just slightly to look at her. "I have a boat, we're going to set up there. You'd never have to leave, I'd protect you." He tells her, as if that was her problem the whole time - being protected.
"In all my time at Camp Half-Blood, I've only had one person hit me over the head with a sword." She says, pulling away further. Luke shakes his head, about to explain, when footsteps pound from behind him.
"Traitor!" Someone yells, causing Luke and Y/N to turn and look. As they see the camper with a sword coming at them, Luke pulls Y/N into him. But the camper was already set on his path to stab Luke in the back, so he doesn't have time to correct before the blade runs through Y/N's side. The camper slides it out quickly in horror, but the damage has been done. Blood is spilling out of her side, and she barely has time to put a hand over the wound before she's collapsing into Luke.
"No, no, no!" Luke cries, falling to the ground with Y/N in his arms. Blood is spilling everywhere, and Luke gags as he sees Y/N's skin pale. He knows she's not making it out of this. "Help! Please!" He doesn't know who to ask, which one of the gods will hear his prayer. He knows he's not in good standing, but this is for Y/N.
"I-I didn't mean to!" The camper says, tears spilling out of his eyes.
"Go get help!" Luke yells, knowing he's going to out himself. He looks down at Y/N again, at the hole in her side, and almost throws up. After all the death he's seen, all the gruesome wounds he's been apart of, he still feels sick.
"Luke," He knows that she's almost gone, that there's no hope. Blood is covering the carnations he had bought her.
"Please, please, help her." Luke mutters, looking up to the sky. He grabs Y/N's hand, and when she doesn't squeeze back he looks down.
"Don't let this turn you into... something you're not. You're not a god... you're Luke Castellan. And I love... Luke Castellan." She chokes out most of her sentence, before her eyes go wild. "You have to leave. Live a life away... from this place... they won't understand. Promise me, Luke," She goes completely lax in his arms, eyes open and blood pooled in her mouth. Luke gags again as he turns his face away, unable to look at her.
"You can't let her die," Luke says, looking up to the sky again as tears fall down his face. "This is my fault. Please, just let her live, and I will leave her alone." When he's met with silence, he starts to get more desperate. "My life for hers. Take me instead, Hades. Make me a slave, or a statue, anything. Just don't take her." Hes begging frantically, chest heaving with emotion. His prayers don't fall on deaf ears, but Aphrodite appears with no way to save her daughter.
"I knew this would happen." The goddess says with a sad face. "I tried to tell her to move on, but of course, she didn't listen. I wouldn't have." Luke wants to throttle the goddess, but he knows he can't. Not only would it not do anything, but she looks exactly like Y/N.
"Save her!" Luke yells, and he can hear people approaching soon. "Do something! I'll give my life, just please!" He begs, but the goddess shakes her head.
"You should go." Aphrodite says as she crouches, placing a hand over her daughter's face and closing her eyes. When Luke doesn't move, she looks down at him. "I'm giving you an out, boy. Leave now." She picks up her daughter and places her in her arms, fixing her up. Even in death, she's gorgeous.
"Why?" Luke asks, standing but not leaving yet.
"Because that was her dying breath. We're here because you didn't listen to her last time you saw her, so you're going to listen to her now." The goddess puts her forehead to her daughter's head, and Luke takes one last look at his lover, who is now dead because of him. He steps into the blood soaked carnations, and then he sprints out.
"They didn't let you save her," Luke hears him in his head, and he knows he's not strong enough to keep himself in check anymore. "I could have done it. And I will do it, when you raise me." Luke wipes his face, taking a deep breath to calm his churning stomach.
"What do I have to do?"

Synopsis
History repeats over and over. Yujin the daughter of Cupid the Roman god of love, desire, attraction & psyche the once mortal and now goddess of the soul has been in love with you for years. She knows it's forbidden but she can't help how she feels. When her father tasks her to search for a match for you she's torn between her feelings and her duty.
Yujin knows she shouldn't be feeling this way. Her father had told her about keeping distance from the mortals but once she saw you she was smitten. She was watching her father work, shooting his love arrows at two of your friends and making them fall in love but she couldn't stop staring at you. 4 years later and she still comes back, watching over you as you live your life. You don't know her, you have no idea about her existence but she knows you. She knows what movies make you cry, your favorite food, your comfort shows, etc... She's watched you date around but never fall in love and as the child of a love god she should be sad about that but she isn't because she's in love with you.
"yujin! Where are you?!" her mother's voice comes from behind her and she jumps up from where she was sitting, "Oh," her mother's eyes fall on her and then at the window where she saw you, "honey we've been over this." her voice was soft and gentle.
"I know" yujin's head droops down in shame, "but I haven't done anything, I just watch her."
"your father is looking for you. He has a new task for you, I think he's finally sending you down there." her mother smiles.
"Really?" She perked up at the news, she's never been down in the mortal world alone.
"just remember-"
"don't make any contact, I know." she sighed as she followed behind her mom, "why can't I talk to her?"
"it's not her time. Your father knows when people are ready for love."
"but what if she's like you?"
"only time will tell darling." she puts a hand on yujin's shoulder as she leaves her side.
"I have good news for you" her dad smiles at her, "come here," he waved her over excitedly. Yujin walks up the few stairs and looks down at the papers her father was staring at, " I'm sending you down to the mortals to look for a match for this girl," he points to a paper and yujin feels her heart drop into her stomach,it was yours. The papers contained a picture of the person, name, gender, sexuality, preference and whether they had met their true love or not. Yours was empty, undecided, and Yujin knew those were her father's favorite because he loved a challenge.
"you want me to look for her match?"
" a potential match," he holds up a finger, "she's been with men and women but none of them gave her the spark, so I trust you will find someone for her."
"What if I can't?"
"I know you will, I have a feeling it's about to happen but she just needs the push. She's ready for love and it's on us to find it for her."
"honey" her mother suddenly spoke up, "don't expect her to succeed from the first time," psyche's eyes meet yujin's and she can see her daughters sadness hiding in plain sight, "it's okay if you don't want to honey."
"why would she say no?" he scowled, "she's been waiting to go down there on her own for years!"
Psyche loved her husband and when it came to love he was always right so it pained her to see how oblivious he was to his own daughters feelings. The only reason she could think of was because yujin wasn't mortal. Even if he was the god of love he was too occupied with the mortal to recognize the love his daughter had for her.
"it's fine, I'll go."
"Perfect" he clapped his hands and handed yujin papers for possible candidates and yours," read up on these and when you made your selection you can go down there to see which one works the best."
Yujin wanted to protest, tell her father how she felt about you but she held it in. She accepted the papers and did what he asked of her, she read up on it, made her selection and went down to the mortal world on her own. It didn't take her much time to see these possible suitors were no match for you, every encounter you had with them you brushed them off. It seems like you were uninterested in love, she knew it was possible but her father had told her that there was a 5% chance of it happening. He always knew when people were destined to be without any romance, most of the time it worked out perfectly.
Fate worked in a funny way, Yujin knew this because she had met the 3 women. They bickered alot but were very amusing to watch. She still remembers when they were watching over her when she was 6 and one of them had told her about her fate. How she would follow in her father's footsteps, and she hadn't thought much about it then. Only now did she realize they meant it literally as she was holding you.
You were walking fast as you were on your way home, you favorite show was about to start and you didn't want to miss the beginning since it had ended on a cliffhanger. Ofcours life would ruin this plan and make you trip over nothing but to your Suprise someone had caught you and that someone was absolutely beautiful.
"hi," yujin was lost for words, here she was breaking the sacred rule. Was her dad watching this? Was she going to be in trouble? She couldn't have known you were going to trip and land in her arms, surely he would understand right?
"hi," you were mesmerized by the woman, "I-uuh. I'm sorry, I wasn't paying any attention and I tripped."
"it's okay" yujin smiled as she was thinking about how she would explain this, "are you hurt?" her eyes scan you over as you took a step back.
"no, not at all thanks to you." you smiled and yujin's hands itched to reach out to you and get you back in her arms.
"i-I have to uhm-" she pointed to nowhere in particular and you shook your head fast.
"Yeah, ofcours sorry" you kicked yourself for keeping her from whatever she had to do, "have a nice day!" you smiled and left her behind.
Yujin never expected for this to happen. As she was walking up to her father she was contemplating on lying but one look at his face made all those worries disappear, "you did it!" he exclaimed and walked down to pick her up in a hug, "i'm so proud of you"
"what do you mean?" She asked as she looked over at her mother.
"she met her perfect match, look." she walks up to yujin with the paper and it was true, the paper that once was empty was filled with a description. Her match was a woman, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, she had met her when she fell into her arms. yujin read it over and over to be sure. She had met her match and that match was her.
"What's wrong? You did it! Now show me which one was it." he smiled as he walked back to the papers, "I've already went through the papers and it's between these two." he smiles down at the papers.
"yujin, honey?" her mother places a hand on her shoulder, "are you okay?"
"i-.." yujin didn't know how she was supposed to tell them.
"which one is it?" her father held up the two papers with a smile, "don't leave me hanging here."
"neither." yujin said as she looked at her father, "it's neither of them. Didn't you see it? Didn't you see it happen?"
"i only know what happens because of these," he shakes the papers, "did you see who it was?"
"why don't you wash up and get some rest," her mother smiles and yujin knows her mother knew, " we'll talk about this later."
"but i-" her father tries to protest but one look from psyche and he stops, "you're right my dear. Go and wash up yujin, you did excellent." he smiles and waves her off.
After all these years she was your true love. Was this a cruel joke? No, her dad seemed genuinely excited to know about what happened. How was she supposed to tell him it was her? Yujin knew that she had no chance, at least not like this. Her mother was offered immortality after completing impossible tasks and even then her father had made a deal with jupiter. She had nothing to offer to any of the gods so she knew you wouldn't be able to become immortal, the only option left was to give up hers.
A knock on the door pulls her out of her head, "can I come in?" her mother's voice came from behind the door.
"yes" she answered and her mother enters her room.
"want to talk about it?" She asked as she took a seat next to her.
"does dad know?"
"He does," she nodded, " sooo... How did it happen?"
"it all went so fast," yujin started to think back, "I had thrown every person on the list at her but she just wasn't interested. I was on my way here when she tripped, I didn't even know it was her until I saw her. She's.... She's so beautiful mom."
Psyche was about to answer when cupid walked in the room," I'll admit this will be a tough one to crack but I'll find a way. I just need to know one thing. " he stares at Yujin," how far are you willing to go for this girl? "
" as far as it takes and even more, I've been in love with her for years but I kept my distance like you told me too. "
" years? Why didn' t you tell me?! " her father placed a hand on his chest, "i'm the god of love, I need to know these things! I could've solved this years ago but instead you keep it to yourself and make her a mystery case tha-" her father keeps rambling on
"Honey " her mother cuts him off once again, " This is already hard enough, remeber what it was like for you?"
He sighs and sits down on yujin's other side, "i'm just saying you could've talked to me."he wrapped an arm around yujin's shoulder and gave her a kiss on her temple," I love you, honey. I'll do everything I can to make sure you end up with her I promise. "
" there's only one way, " yujin knew what she had to do, " it's okay, I know you'll be looking out for me."
"are you sure?" he asked, "we could find another way."
"and waste more time? No," yujin shook her head, "I already lost 4 years because I stayed silent."
"we'll keep looking while you're there okay?" her mom wrapped her in a hug, "you'll always be my baby girl"
"I know you'll keep searching but I can't stay away any longer. Not after finding out that she's the one."
It didn't take long to arrange everything. eventhough yujin was giving up her immortality she would still be able to get it back, It was just simply staying in a box. Her parents had arranged everything for her in the mortal world, all she had to do was find you again.
@vex91 I guess I'll release it from the draft dungeon for you

a big list of my favorite little alkaid moments
[modern] being found absolutely conked out in the snow on the mountain. that's one way to have a meet cute i guess.
[modern] alkaid's "morning call service" where he calls mc each morning pretending to be a hotel help desk staff member reminding her to wake up... only to keep it short sometimes because he can't bring himself to wake her up
[modern] whatever sort of Beep inside joke they have going on where they pretend to make a reservation or selection for each other
[modern] alkaid requesting to do the ET finger touch thing when talking about aliens with mc
[modern] mc claiming that she's the dangerous one of the two when it comes to her and alkaid.
[modern] beanie and sparkles having cat play dates. alkaid also using "sparkles would like to see beanie" as an excuse to see mc.
[modern] the only time this alkaid had a murderous look in his eyes was when someone tried to hurt sparkles.
[modern] "hey don't feel down! as long as you try your best, you can definitely become a horrible person!" "......! well if you really think so, then i'll give it a try."
[modern] alkaid being a natural flirt to the point where he doesn't even realize he's doing it sometimes, but being unable to take what he dishes by getting blushy or bashful when mc flirts with him instead.
[modern, halloween] alkaid absolutely struggling to put on the angel wings for his costume and needing mc to help him get the second wing on.
[modern, halloween] mc lamenting that she can't resist eating some of the candy she makes and alkaid being like. oh no. no, that's not falling to temptation, that's just taste testing. and it is Totally your duty.
[modern, halloween] alkaid apologizing for being too forward even though all he did was say he liked mc's bouquet for him the most. someone lock this man up, we are NOT safe with him on the streets.
[modern, princess day] alkaid being "deathly terrified of screwing up" bartending for princess day for mc so he practices.. for hours…. and hours…
[modern, love day] if mc chooses to look at the scenic photos alkaid took at the carnival, alkaid will jokingly claim the ones of him and her are now his and yoink them away from her
[modern, love day] alkaid saying mc can act like a cat when she visits his place, only for her to meow at him and step on his foot
[godheim] alkaid asking for a hug before he overexerts his magic and then goofily proclaiming that he's "so scandalous!" before giving mc another side hug.
[godheim] mc and alkaid's banter where alkaid initially says "good girl" to her for keeping her eyes closed during his magical overexertion, only for mc to say "you're being such a good boy" to his frozen body in the carriage, where his eyelids just barely twitch in vague annoyance.
[godheim] speaking of being frozen. he heard and saw everything mc did while he was in that state. so that was definitely him responding to her. he also remembered her kissing him. he refuses to answer mc when she asks if he was conscious.
[godheim] zack calling alkaid out on wearing his old mage outfit simply bc mc likes it. alkaid just smiles and is like hey. quiet. you might wake her up and she'll hear. that's not how you treat the guy who saved your life 🥺🥺
[godheim] alkaid's support for ayn and mc during ayn's route and helping the two of them escape.
[godheim] during the hunting event, alkaid has to be forced into participating by lars' orders. even then he still doesn't participate and proceeds to buy all of the meat at the market place with the money he and mc made off of his magic tricks. he claims this is definitely not cheating. mc agrees.
[eden] there's not a ton for eden since that world's alkaid is the equivalent of a sopping wet pitiful cat, but there's something endearing about alkaid learning all of his social graces and dating etiquette from old books. the prefect had to sit and watch all of this like some sort of long suffering older brother forced to play dolls or whatever
[eden] alkaid panicking and running off when mc asked him to find the missing boy who called for help.
[eden] out of all of the things he could have chosen to wear, alkaid picks out this like. coquette?? pretty boy tuxedo? WITH a cunty little earring? good for him... good for him!
[eden] he also makes a bunch of little model dioramas with houses, gardens and people in them. if he ever went to the modern world he would LOVE michael's.
[eden] in his epilogue, alkaid remade his little lantern with him and mc in it because she was the only one who could stir any kind of feeling in him after losing his emotions. he gets very embarrassed if she finds this out.

You're Safe With Me
-------------------------
Minho x reader female
Summary: Minho is out on a daily run to map the maze and he finds a girl trapped in the maze, on her own, with no sign of how she got there. Minho takes her back to the glade, and looks after her for her first night.
Word count: 1950
Read time : 13 minutes
-------------------------
Cool rock on your face, littered with debris. Nice and relaxing coolness, want to sleep. Dust filling air, hard to breathe, want to cough, dry throat, can't cough. Constant thump, distant and mesmerizing. Loud breathing, mine or someone else's?
"I want sleep, but where am I?" you croak, burning your throat as you speak. You opened your eyes.
Walls, tall and ancient , ivy covered walls, three walls surrounding you, one long corridor. Trapped, your chest felt tight and you found it hard to breathe.
You got up and walked toward the end of the corridor and saw two exits, you took a step back, hide.
The thumps got louder, closer and closer. And heavy breathing followed it. Someone was there. Who. Maybe it's a person.
I should check. But I am scared. I should check. My chest is tight again.
Dizzy, spinning walls, the dirt is flying. Must. Check. Now. Sit down before I fall. Yell out, now sitting, I am safe.
"Help me! Where am I?" you croaked half yelling.
"Who are you, where are you? How did you get in here? I am going to find you." a voice replied.
"O-ok"
"just stay where you are." it ordered
You were sitting too close to the entryway of your corridor. So that's when he saw you and you saw him, he kind of, almost, maybe ran into you.
He lowered his body to match your height and reached one of his arms to you and placed his hand on your shoulder, you flinched.
"Hey, it's okay. You're okay. You are safe now. Let's get you out of here and get you some food and water." the boy spoke gently "You are safe with me."
He hooked his arm over your shoulders and using his free hand, he held onto your hands.
"It's okay, you are safe, I promise"
"I get that I am safe but, but are there more of you? Like, more people?"
"Yeah, there are more people, they are all great people."
"Okay then, keep them away from me. By the way, what is your name?"
"My name? Minho. I am Minho"
"Okay Minho, I don't want to meet your friends."
You stopped walking, you understood he was taking you to them.
"I know that you are scared, but please, you need to keep moving. How about you, what is your name?"
"Y/n"
After an hour of walking and being dragged, you had arrived to a point where there was a break in the walls, leading out to a grassy square, filled with boys running about, working.
You hid around a corner, "No, I am not going." It didn't faze Minho as he walked into the grassy place and yelled.
"Alby! I am back!" a boy came running to Minho
"Newt, where's Alby? I need to show him something"
"Sorry Minho, he can't come, he is dealing with something important at the moment."
"Okay then Newt, if you say so. You are going to want to see this."
Minho began leading the boy assumably called Newt to your location, you told him you didn't want to meet anyone else.
"Minho, NO, I told you I didn't want to meet your stupid friends"
"Minho, who the shuck said that?"
"Ahhh, does Alby's important business have something to do with no greenie being in the box when it came up?" you poked your head around the corner to listen in.
"Yeah....."
"Well, Newt. I found our greenie in the middle of the maze." He gestured foy you to come to him.
"Come on darling, it's okay. This is Newt, he is really nice. Remember, I promised that you would be safe with me." Newt waved.
You began to slowly walk to the two boys, when you got there you grabbed Minho's arm and hugged it closely for comfort, he looked down at you and swilled a warm smile.
"Minho, I want you to come back with me, I feel safe in there, come back with me." you began to tug his arm, but his tall muscular build made it impossible to move him. After giving up you just walked back into the walls, Minho followed. Newt yelled to him. "Minho, you have like, 30 seconds to get out."
"Look, you need to get out of here, it isn't safe in here, you could die on your own."
"Minho, Get out now!" Newt yelled
"I am sorry, but you have to move"
"10-9" Minho picked you up and began to run "8-7-6-5" a few meters left to the grass "4-3" A giant gust of wind "2" you fell out of Minho's arms and landed on the grass "1" BANG!
"You still want to be in there now? You could have died for shuck sake. What were you thinking?" Newt was yelling at you. You began to cry, you didn't like yelling.
Yelling hurt, you couldn't quite connect the dots but, you remembered when you were yelled at, you would get hit.
You cowered, bracing for impact through heavy sobs. "Please don't hit me. Please don't. Don't hit me. Don't yell. What did I do wrong. I am sorry. Just hit me."
You cried so hard and found it hard to breathe, "Just hit me already, I am used to it. Sorry for being a burden."
When you didn't get hit you decided to see what was happening, so you turned your head. When you turned around you saw Minho having a go at Newt because of what he did. Newt pointed at you and spoke to Minho "You might want to talk to her, calm her down"
"Hey, hey. It's okay" he sat down on the grass with you, you were curled up in a loose ball so he wrapped himself around you. Giving you a warm hug.
"Do you want me to just be here, or do you want me to comfort you?"
"Both." you said, in broken sobs "I don't think that I like Newt."
"I get that you might not like him but, he was yelling out of concern, you could have died today, and he was very worried about you."
"I know, I, I just remember that whenever I got yelled at, I would be hit until I couldn't feel it anymore. Yelling hurts, I don't like it"
"He is sorry, I already talked to him, he didn't know that that triggered you."
"Okay, it was just a bit scary."
"I know, it's okay now. I promise, you are safe. Also, meet Alby, he is our leader."
"Hey there greenie, I see you have already made close friends with my best man."
"How long have you been watching?"
"I have been standing there since I heard you bawling your eyes out. Sorry about Newt, he was just really worried about you, he always is worried about the green-beans. By the way, what's your name?"
"Y/n, that's my name."
"Well then Y/n, we are going to need to find you some sleeping arrangements, it is already dark."
"Okay, where can I sleep?"
"We have some huts, some of the guys already sleep in them, the most important ones at least. Lucky Minho has one. And we have some hammocks outside the homestead. Your choice."
"Minho, can I sleep in your hut? I can take the floor if you want."
"Uhh, sure. If you really want to, I will take the floor though."
"Well, Y/n, now you have sleeping arrangements you'd be best to go have a sleep, you have had a rough day. We will need to talk in the morning so we can set a few boundaries."
Minho helped pull you up off of the ground.
"Let's go, I will show you my hut." he smiled so warmly that you couldn't help but calm down a bit.
He hooked his arm around your waist and walked you away to his hut.
"Here we are Y/n, this is my hut, just let me unlock it" he fumbled around his pocket for his keys and finally fished them out. when he unlocked it you got a strong smell of woodiness and a bit of boy funk, but it was quite comforting.
The room was about three meters by three meters, not too big but big enough to have his bed and chair in there.
He pushed the chair into the corner and placed a sleeping bag on the floor. He made the bed and pulled all the sheets back into place and put the pillow back on the bed. It wasn't much but it was his hut, it had bits of paper strewn everywhere and had notes scrawled on them.
He pointed to the bed "Sleep, you need it"
"But, what about you, you don't need to sleep on the floor."
"I can sleep in the sleeping bag, I say you sleep on the bed, so do it."
You got into his bed and curled up under his covers. The smell of them were so comforting. You couldn't sleep though, you felt too vulnerable, you could be hit while you were asleep, nightmares could come.
After what felt like hours of tossing and turning you finally gave up trying to sleep, you were too scared.
"Minho, are you still awake"
"Yeah, what's up Y/n? To busy wanting to talk to me than sleep hey?" Minho was half-asleep, he spoke groggily, he sounded like he was drunk.
"I can't sleep, I am too scared, I don't want to be here."
Minho got up and sat on the end of the bed.
"Look, you need to go to sleep, it isn't healthy being awake for too long. What can I do to help you sleep?"
"I don't know, I don't feel safe, what if Newt comes and yells again, and hits me this time?" You sat up. "I don't want to be alone."
"You aren't alone Y/n, how about I sit next to you until you fall asleep. Do you think that would help?"
"O-ok. Thanks"
"Would you mind scooching over though, so I can sit next to you."
"Yeah, sure." you shuffled over so that you were a bit closer to the wall.
Minho stood up and walked towards your end of the bed and sat down, well actually, more like he fell. "Sorry Y/n, just tripped on my shucking rubbish"
He pulled the covers off of you and shifted his body down so that he was lay next to you. Then he pulled the covers back onto both of you.
"Thanks Minho, I, I just don't feel safe here, or anywhere. It's like I am missing something."
Minho began to fiddle with your hair.
"You know Y/n, I think that you are overreacting. And you also need a hug"
Minho forced his arm under your back and pulled you into his warm chest, embracing you, comforting you. "Remember, I told you that you are safe with me"
"Minho, thankyou, thanks for making me feel safe, making me feel like I am worth it."
"Anytime Y/n, but maybe next time, do what you're told, you could have died today, if it weren't for Newt, I wouldn't have gotten you out in time."
"He's still scary though" you mumbled, groggily.
The warmth of Minho's chest was comforting, soothing and relaxing. You were in just the right spot to listen to his heartbeat, it was almost as mesmerizing as his footsteps when he was running.
"Y/n, I understand that, but I will keep you safe, I will protect you. so go to sleep now, I will too, I am already too comfy to go back to my sleeping bag."
You chuckled.
"Okay Minho, goodnight" then you were out like a light.

Full Family AU Part 19
"Where am I going?" Vee asked as Camila strapped her into a spare booster seat in the back of the car.
"You are coming with me to the vet," Camila told her, a little frazzled. Her hair was unkempt in a messy ponytail and her smocks were wrinkled as they were rushed on. She had spent the good part of her morning planning and replanning on what to do that getting ready for work became second priority, meaning she had to rush through her morning routines. She wasn't even sure she remembered to put on deodorant.
"Aw, I wish I could go to the vet..." Luz whined in her booster. "It's nice, you get to pet the puppies sometimes, and Mrs. Kristy lets you take candy out from that little bowl on the front desk."
"But it's still a school day," Manny said as he took the drivers' seat. "And you still need to go to school. We...haven't worked out how Vee's going to attend yet."
"Which is why I'm bringing her to the vet!" Camila explained a little too loudly as she forced her "Everything is fine" smile. She then shut the door and quickly hurried to the passenger side.
"But won't people wonder what Vee is?" Luz asked.
"Yes, but...I'll tell them she's our adopted daughter!" Camila said as she took her seat and buckled up. "Sure, that'll lead to a dozen more questions that I won't have the answers for, but it's not like there's nothing else I could say! Because if Vee's sticking around then that's all I can say! Because if I say she's family visiting for a bit, then they'll wonder who's family she's from and why she's still at our home and--"
"Okay, okay, mi amor!" Manny said loudly and clearly, gripping Camila's shoulder. "Breath. Breath slowly. You're falling apart and freaking out a certain someone."
Camila looked up at the rear-view mirror and saw Vee, shaking a little as she clutched the jacket that Manny still allowed her to wear over her shoulders.
"Oh...Oh, baby, no..." Camila turned around in the front seat and reached for Vee. "I--Okay, I can't hold you right now, we're in a hurry."
"Yup," Manny agreed, starting the car.
"But just know that I'm sorry if I'm making you worried," Camila went on. "This whole thing is...complicated and I'm just trying to work things out as we go along. I might be doing it loudly and a little panicky, but it's just me processing things to make sure I can give you the great life you deserve. I just don't know how, so I'm...working it out."
Vee sniffed. "If me being here is too much--"
"It's not," Camila said, squashing that quickly. "You're not too much, I swear. And while I may be stressed now, it'll all be worth it in the end when we finally figured things out. I don't know when we will, but we will."
"...You promise you'll let me know if I'm too much...?" Vee asked, and Camila really wished she could give the poor girl a hug right now.
"I promise that you never will. I can--Here." She stuck out her pinkie. "I even pinkie swear."
"Pinkie swear?"
"It's the biggest binding promise in the world!" Luz explained. "You wrap your pinkie around someone else's and they will forever keep their promise. Like when Papi pinkie swore to give me chocolate chip cookies if I was a good girl at the first day of school!"
"That I did..." Manny said as he pulled out of the driveway. Camila would interrogate him on that later, but for now she held her pinkie out for Vee.
"I pinkie swear that you'll never be too much," she promised. Vee looked at the pinkie for a minute, and hesitantly stretched hers out to wrap it around Camila's.
"Pinkie promise..." Vee quietly said.
"That's right," Camila said with a smile, this one much more genuine. "And don't worry, I'll have a plan figured out by the time Manny drops us off at the vet."
That got Vee to smile now, making Camila satisfied enough to turn forward again in her seat.
Only to then make eye contact with Manny and mouth the words, "Drive slow," needing all the time she can possibly get to figure out a plan.

Uncle Wayne's Diner
Eddie Munson x reader (from Wayne’s perspective)
As Wayne sat on the porch of his small house, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of worry for his nephew Eddie. He had always been a sensitive boy, prone to getting his heart broken at the slightest provocation. And now, with this new girlfriend, Wayne could see the signs of angsty teenage love brewing in the air.
Eddie and the girl - what was her name? - had been inseparable since they started dating a few weeks ago. They would come to Wayne's diner every day, sitting in the same booth, holding hands and giggling over milkshakes. Wayne had to admit, they were cute together, but he couldn't shake the feeling that things were moving too fast.
One evening, as Wayne was closing up the diner, he heard a knock on the door. It was Eddie, his eyes red and swollen, his hair tousled from running his hands through it in distress.
"Uncle Wayne," he said, his voice cracking. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Wayne let him in, sensing that this was something serious. Eddie collapsed onto one of the stools at the counter, burying his face in his hands.
"What's going on, Eddie?" Wayne asked gently.
"It's her," Eddie said, his voice muffled by his palms. "I just... I don't know if I can handle it, Uncle Wayne. It's like she's always on my mind, and I can't focus on anything else."
Wayne nodded sympathetically, remembering all too well the all-consuming feeling of teenage love. "It's tough, kid. But it's also kind of wonderful, isn't it? To care about someone so much?"
Eddie lifted his head, his eyes shining with tears. "Yeah, I guess so. It's just... what if it all falls apart? What if she realizes she doesn't feel the same way about me anymore?"
Wayne leaned in closer, placing a reassuring hand on Eddie's shoulder. "Listen, Eddie. I know it's scary, but you have to take a chance on love. You can't live your life always wondering what could have been. And who knows, maybe this girl is the one for you."
Eddie sniffled, looking up at Wayne with a mixture of gratitude and uncertainty. "But what if she's not?"
Wayne shrugged, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Then you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on going. Because that's what life is all about - taking risks and making mistakes, and learning from them. And if you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to find me."
Eddie nodded, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "Thanks, Uncle Wayne. You always know what to say."
Wayne chuckled, ruffling Eddie's hair affectionately. "That's what uncles are for. Now go on, get out of here. You've got a girl waiting for you."
Eddie grinned, hopping off the stool and heading towards the door. "Thanks again, Uncle Wayne. You're the best."
As Wayne watched his nephew disappear into the night, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for his own angsty teenage years. But he was glad that he could be there for Eddie, to offer him some guidance and support as he navigated the tumultuous waters of young love. And who knows, maybe one day he would be giving similar advice to the girl who had captured his nephew's heart. Only time would tell.
___
As the weeks went by, Wayne couldn't deny that he was growing more and more fond of Eddie's girlfriend. At first, he had been skeptical - after all, he had seen his fair share of teenage flings fizzle out before they really began. But as he watched the way she cared for Eddie, listened to him, and supported him through his various anxieties, he couldn't help but be impressed.
One afternoon, Wayne was taking a break from the diner, sitting on his front porch with a cup of coffee and watching the world go by. He saw Eddie and his girlfriend walking hand-in-hand down the street, their heads close together as they chatted animatedly. They caught sight of Wayne and waved, smiling brightly.
Wayne waved back, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. He had to admit, seeing Eddie so happy made him happy too. And he was grateful that his nephew had found someone who seemed to truly understand and appreciate him.
As Eddie and his girlfriend approached, Wayne stood up to greet them. "Hey there, you two. How's it going?"
"It's going great, Uncle Wayne," Eddie said, grinning from ear to ear. "We just went to the arcade and I beat her at Galaga again."
His girlfriend rolled her eyes playfully. "He's just lucky, don't listen to him."
Wayne chuckled, enjoying the banter between the two of them. "Well, why don't you two come inside and I'll fix you up some milkshakes?"
They eagerly agreed, and as Wayne mixed up the shakes, he couldn't help but ask Eddie's girlfriend a few questions about herself. He was surprised to learn that she was an avid reader, with a particular interest in science fiction and fantasy. They chatted about their favorite books and authors, and Wayne was impressed by her intelligence and creativity.
After they finished their milkshakes, Eddie's girlfriend helped Wayne clean up the kitchen, offering to wash the dishes while he dried. As they worked, Wayne couldn't help but notice how kind and considerate she was, always making sure to ask if he needed any help and thanking him for the hospitality. He was beginning to see that she wasn't just a fleeting crush for Eddie - she was someone special.
Later that evening, as Wayne was closing up the diner, he saw Eddie's girlfriend sitting outside on the bench, staring up at the stars. He decided to join her, taking a seat beside her and offering her a warm smile.
"It's a beautiful night, isn't it?" he said, gesturing up at the clear sky.
She nodded, a small smile on her lips. "It really is. I love looking at the stars - it makes me feel small and insignificant, but in a good way."
Wayne chuckled. "I know what you mean. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that we're just a small part of something much bigger."
They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, before Eddie's girlfriend spoke up. "I just wanted to thank you, Wayne. For being so welcoming to me, and for always looking out for Eddie. He's lucky to have an uncle like you."
Wayne felt a warm flush spread through his chest. "Oh, it's nothing. I just want him to be happy."
"I know," she said, her voice soft. "And I want that too. He's such a sweet, caring person, and I feel lucky to be with him. I know relationships can be hard, but I'm willing to work at it, to make it last."
Wayne was impressed by her maturity and dedication. "That's good to hear. I have a feeling you two are going to be just fine."
They sat a while longer, chatting about life, love, and the mysteries of the universe. Wayne felt grateful for the connection he was building with his nephew's girlfriend, and he couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, this relationship was something special after all.
___
A couple of months had passed, and Wayne had grown even more accustomed to having Eddie's girlfriend around. She had become a regular presence at the diner, often coming by after school to hang out with Eddie or chat with Wayne. They had even gone on a few double dates together, and Wayne had to admit that he was impressed by how well the two of them seemed to complement each other.
One evening, Wayne was closing up the diner when he heard a loud commotion coming from Eddie's apartment upstairs. He hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should intervene, but then he heard Eddie's girlfriend's voice, raised and angry.
"I can't believe you would say something like that! How could you be so insensitive?"
"I was just trying to be honest!" Eddie shouted back, his voice tight with frustration. "Why can't you see that?"
There was a moment of silence, and then the sound of a door slamming shut echoed through the building. Wayne's heart sank as he realized that Eddie's girlfriend had stormed out.
He hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do, before finally making his way upstairs to Eddie's apartment. When he arrived, he found Eddie sitting on the couch, his face buried in his hands.
"Eddie, what happened?" Wayne asked, concern etched into his voice.
Eddie looked up, tears in his eyes. "We got into a fight. A really bad one."
Wayne took a seat next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Eddie nodded, taking a deep breath. "I don't know what to do. We were arguing about something stupid, and then it just... escalated. And then she left, and I don't know if she's ever going to come back."
Wayne listened patiently as Eddie poured out his heart, expressing his fear and sadness at the thought of losing the person he loved. It was clear to Wayne that Eddie was really struggling with this, and he knew he had to offer some guidance.
"Well, the first thing you need to do is give her some space," Wayne said, his voice gentle but firm. "She's upset right now, and she needs time to process her emotions."
Eddie nodded, wiping his eyes. "Okay, I can do that. But what about after that? How do I fix this?"
Wayne paused for a moment, thinking carefully. "You need to be honest with her, Eddie. Tell her how you feel, and really listen to how she feels too. Relationships are about communication, and sometimes that means having difficult conversations."
Eddie nodded again, taking in Wayne's advice. "You're right. I need to be brave and tell her how much she means to me."
Wayne smiled, feeling proud of his nephew. "That's the spirit, Eddie. I have a feeling things are going to work out just fine."
Over the next few days, Eddie took Wayne's advice to heart. He gave his girlfriend some space, but when they finally spoke again, he was open and honest about his feelings. He apologized for the hurtful things he had said, and he promised to work on his communication skills going forward.
To Eddie's relief, his girlfriend was willing to give him another chance. They worked through their issues, talking things out whenever they had a disagreement. And through it all, Wayne was there to offer support and guidance, watching with pride as his nephew grew and matured in his relationship.
As time passed, Eddie and his girlfriend grew even closer, cementing their bond through shared experiences and a deep love and respect for each other. And Wayne was grateful to have been a part of their journey, seeing firsthand how the power of love and communication can overcome even the toughest obstacles.
In the end, Eddie knew that he had found something special with his girlfriend, something worth fighting for. And with Wayne's wisdom and support, he knew that he had the tools to make it work, no matter what challenges lay ahead.

- it was a normal morning , or well at least you thought till you sat up and stretched. your body felt more..plush like? you shrugged it off till when you looked at wally he was human. that wasn't normal , of course it wasn't- you sat there for a minute before gently shaking wally. “ wally. wally darling wake UP. ” wally mumbled and swatted your hand away. “ dearest , I need my beauty sleep why are you bugging me at such an early hou- ” as he turned to look at you well..you weren't how he remembered you looked before. he hoped this was a dream till you spoke again. “ a-..and you're human as well. oh god why me of all people! ” you hopped out of bed only to fall RIGHT on your face.
- wally panicked and slowly sat up and made his way over to you to help you up. “ dearest , I may have to tell you that puppet bodies just feel lighter..you have to get used to it. ” “ how are you so calm about this! you're TALLER than me now it's not even fair! ” “ oh it's very much fair..I'm in denial. ” he said with a smile. “ plus this may be a one day thing , like a small curse you could say. just curious why it has to be us. ” wally said as he lifted you up off the ground. “ wally , I'm not a baby. ”
- “ oh but dearest you'll walk around like a newborn if I let you walk around anymore till we get ready. ” he sat at his vanity , placing you down on his lap. “ we can get ready like this. ” this was almost humiliating but you guessed this is how wally felt the various times you'd picked him up and even embarrassed him. you can't tell how wally felt about being human but you could tell he was still getting used to not feeling light.
- “ ..you look very different , dearest. it's not a terrible strange I just can't help how your hair looks now. ” wally said with giggle as he looked down at you. “ oh shut up , at least mine doesn't look like a cinnamon roll. ” you rolled your eyes and reached over to grab your hairbrush but every time you brushed it or tried to style it , it would just pop right back into place. after a few attempts you merely gave up on styling your hair and watched wally style his.
- “ puppet hair isn't the same as human hair , y/n. I hope you're aware. ” “ I am now. ” you mumbled and were lifted up and held again as wally stood up. “ oh well..you can pick out your outfit and such for the day. I need to see what it's like to eat. ” he placed you down and left you to your own devices.. of course he'd go see what it's like to eat normally.
- you were getting used to walking by now , a few stumbles here and there but once you were in the living room you didn't see wally about anywhere. you felt like a damned parent having to look after their child. “ wally , where did you even go? ” “ kitchen , dear. ” peeking into the kitchen you noticed he was just..sitting there and reading a newspaper. it was weird how he wasn't acting like anything was different. he'd even changed into his normal attire without your knowledge. “ oh and dearest , you sadly can't eat. we don't really have stomachs. ” “ you don't have teeth either , of COURSE I CANT EAT! ” “ don't raise your voice or I'll put you in time out. ” “ time OUT? oh I'd love to see you try- ”
- wally placed the newspaper down and grabbed you by your waist , lifting you off the ground. you squirmed but were placed on top of the fridge , wally just smiling at you. “ now I won't let being a human stop me from finishing that painting poppy wanted..love you dearest! ” “ IF YOU LOVED ME YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE ME UP HE- and you're gone. cool. ” you sigh then resorted to talking with home. “ ..home , can you irritate him for me? ” squeakkkk. “ thank you. ” it was enjoyable to hear wally yell about his paint spilling but knowing you'd have to stay this way for the rest of the day wasn't too bad. you hoped at least.

All in the Timing
It's later that day when Coriolanus is walking down the busy Capitol streets. Everyone is out shopping for last-minute gifts and he can't help but look into a few shop windows, admiring the pretty dresses and bags that are on display for the women. He wonders what it would be like to purchase something like that for his wife, for someone he loves.
He's passing by the door to one of the shops when someone bumps into him.
"Oh, pardon me, I didn't look where I was going."
Coriolanus almost falls over when he hears the soft, familiar voice that belongs to one woman and one woman only.
He looks down to find Soarynn Nightingale looking up at him, her blue-gray eyes wide in surprise. She's bundled up in a cream-colored coat today, with her hair pulled into a bun, showing off her beautiful complexion.
"No need to apologize, you're a rather enjoyable person to keep running into," he says, making her blush.
"Well, it seems to be a recurring issue where we're both concerned."
Coriolanus grins and looks down at the large bags she's holding, filled to the brim with clothes no doubt, "Allow me to carry those for you."
Soarynn looks conflicted for a moment, as if she doesn't quite trust him and she'd have every right to not trust him. He's still a stranger.
"Alright," she finally decides, handing over the bags, "you're very kind to offer up your services." Coriolanus chuckles as they begin walking down the sidewalk, side by side but not hand in hand.
The scent of vanilla overwhelms him and he can only guess that it's her signature scent. It's as sweet as she is.
"Busy day today?" He asks, lifting up the bags. Soarynn nods, fixing the collar of her coat before answering, "Last minute shopping for the company's holiday party."
Well, it looks like he didn't need to pay Festus to fall onto the floor and act as if he was dying.
Coriolanus pretends to be surprised, "Oh, you're going as well? Perhaps we'll see each other then."
Soarynn raises her eyebrows, shyly looking up at him, "Maybe we will. Although Ceraphina won't be there, she's stuck with the nanny for the night."
Coriolanus can imagine that Ceraphina's not too happy about being stuck at home instead of being the center of attention. "Is she at home right now?" He asks, trying to remember if she's old enough to be attending school yet.
Soarynn shakes her head and nods for him to take a right, "No, she's at school. I'm actually headed there now to pick her up."
"Which school is she attending?"
"The Academy."
That sounds about right. Coriolanus attended the Academy, along with every upper-class child in the Capitol. To sport the Academy rouge is a sign of wealth. It's no surprise that Ceraphina is attending as well.
"I do hope it's not too out of your way," Soarynn adds, eyeing the bags as if she might take them back and send him on his way. Coriolanus quickly shakes his head and offers her a reassuring smile, "Not at all, I'm headed downtown to meet a friend for a late lunch."
Soarynn hums, chewing on her lip before asking a question, "Is it your friend I saw with you that night at the Grand Oak?"
He didn't know she remembered Fetus but it seems that Soarynn Nightingale is more perceptive than he thought. "Yes," he confirms, the Academy building coming into view, "Festus can never turn down a free meal." Soarynn chuckles, reaching into her coat pocket and pulling out a silver compact with a rose engraved on it, "A free meal is a hard thing to decline."
They come to a stop at the crosswalk, traffic zooming by them and Coriolanus takes a moment to watch Soarynn as she inspects her reflection in the compact mirror. She looks stunning. He wonders what other people think of them right now. Do they see a young couple on their way to pick up their child from school?
Ceraphina could certainly pass as his daughter, with her blonde hair and blue eyes.
"That's a lovely compact," he says, "my mother used to have one just like it."
Soarynn snaps it shut, giving him a better view of the rose, "Thank you. It was a birthday gift from my father. Was your mother fond of roses? I think I heard something about the Snow family and their roses."
Coriolanus nods, making sure to block any traffic from hitting her as they cross the street, "Yes, my grandmother used to grow roses on the roof of our penthouse apartment. They fetched a pretty price before the war. Now I just tend to them as needed."
Soarynn sighs, staring up at the blue sky, "Ceraphina would love something like that. She's always running around in the backyard, rain or shine."
There's lots of commotion surrounding the Academy, older children walking home by themselves and younger children running to hug their parents after a long day of school. "Does she have much longer until the holiday break?"
Soarynn shakes her head while scanning the sea of students, all dressed identically to one another. "No, this is her last week when then they're all off until January."
Coriolanus begins looking for Ceraphina too, trying to pick out her blonde head of hair. It's hard when all the girls wear the same skirt and button-up shirt but he finally spots her at the top of the steps. "There she is," he points, crouching down so Soarynn can follow his line of sight. She leans into him without hesitation, lighting up when she spots her daughter.
Ceraphina is quick to spot them too, a big smile on her face when she sees Coriolanus, "Fancy seeing you here," she says, throwing her arms around her mother's legs. Coriolanus smiles, watching Soarynn crouch down to properly hug her daughter, she's so gentle, brushing her hair out of her face, asking how her day was.
"It seems that the stars aligned today," he replies, "I just happened to bump into your mother."
Ceraphina eyes her mother for a moment, a small smile on her face, "Sounds like a love story to me Mommy." Soarynn scoffs, her entire face turning a bright shade of pink, "Oh hush. This is nothing like the fairy tales I read to you. Now say goodbye to Mr. Snow so we can go home."
Coriolanus frowns, just a minute ago Soarynn was warming up to him and now she's shoving him away. Ceraphina pouts but Soarynn is firm in her decision, "I can call my driver if you two need a ride home," Coriolanus offers, handing over the bags to Soarynn. Ceraphina peers inside, gasping when she sees what's inside, "No need, we have our car waiting for us over there," Soarynn says, pointing near the the other end of the steps.
They do in fact have a car waiting for them and Coriolanus can only nod, out of tricks and offers. "Well, it was lovely seeing you ladies again."
Ceraphina smiles up at him, looking so cute in her tiny uniform, "Are you gonna see us again soon?"
Coriolanus gives her a wink, "I'll try my best."
Ceraphina giggles, looking up at her mother who doesn't look too impressed, "Have a good afternoon Mr. Snow," she says, taking Ceraphina's hand, "and thank you for carrying my bags."
He gives her a short bow at the waist, only furthering Ceraphina's giggles, "It was my pleasure Ms. Nightingale."
He watches them go, making sure they're tucked away in the safety of their car before he begins his own journey. He tries to think about anything else, about work, about his friends, but he keeps thinking about Soarynn.
Running into her again has to be fate. He's just got to take that chance.
꧁ ꧂
"Oh Coryo, you look so handsome."
Coriolanus grins at Persephone's words as he climbs the last few steps leading up to Heavensbee Hall. Festus and Persephone make an attractive pair for tonight's party, both dressed in dark greens that compliment their complexions.
Festus wraps his arm around his wife, giving her a playful smile, "Keep your eyes on me tonight darling, Coriolanus is on the hunt for his future wife."
Persephone gasps, her eyes going wide with excitement, "Really?! Oh, how exciting! Who is she? Do I know her?"
Coriolanus shakes his head, following the couple into the building that has been decorated to the fullest for the holidays with drapes and garlands, twinkling lights, and bows. "I'm not hunting for anything," he reminds Festus, "I'm simply doing some recon."
Festus snorts, grabbing two glasses of champagne from a nearby waiter, "Well I've never seen someone put in so much work for 'recon' but maybe it's just your ambition talking."
Coriolanus feels a bit caught but he won't feel ashamed for how much effort he's put into this. He cleaned up exceptionally well for tonight, making sure his curls were perfectly styled, his face freshly shaven and his suit brand new. He looks important and he feels important.
He's a man on a mission.
He scans the room, desperate to seek out one individual and his eyes finally land on her. Soarynn Nightingale is an absolute vision tonight, dressed in a long red dress, form-fitting in all the right places, and strapless on top of that. Her blonde hair cascades down her back, perfectly curled.
She's standing with her father who's speaking with several other men, probably talking business. Even though tonight is supposed to be relaxed, men can't help but talk about work.
"I'll be back," he mumbles to his friends, his legs taking him across the floor for him. Many people are already dancing while the orchestra plays a happy tune and he's got to find out if Soarynn can dance.
She looks bored out of her mind right now, idly standing by her father's side. Her eyes meet his for a moment and she visibly lights up which gives him the green light to approach her. If he weren't interested in her then he'd greet her father and the other men first, but they all disappear from view when he sees her.
"I must say, you look absolutely beautiful tonight," he tells her, gently taking her hand and pressing a kiss to the back of it. He's not holding back on that famous Snow charm tonight.
Soarynn grins, looking him up and down before giving him an approving nod, "I must say, you clean up nicely Mr. Snow." His last name rolls off her tongue so effortlessly and he longs to give it to her.
Coriolanus smiles down at her, admiring how long her lashes are, how soft her lips look, and how good she smells. "I had to clean up once I knew you'd be here," he replies smoothly, "and your father too," he adds, reaching his hand out to Glen.
Soarynn's father seems more than pleased at their interaction and gives his hand a firm shake, "No need to impress me Coriolanus, I'm far less high maintenance than my daughter is." They all chuckle when Soarynn gives her father a playful shove, "One can never be too careful," Coriolanus decides.
Glen turns to the other men he was speaking to, all men who look very important which means they probably write lots of paychecks. "Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Coriolanus Snow, he works at the firm."
Coriolanus hadn't planned on being introduced to the higher-ups but he's more than glad to leave a lasting impression, "A pleasure to meet all of you," he says, nodding at each man.
"You're Crassus Snow's boy aren't you?" One of them asks, sporting a very large mustache. Coriolanus nods, "Yes sir, I'm doing my best to follow in his footsteps."
"Well I'd say you're doing more than that," Glen tells him, giving his shoulder a pat.
Coriolanus looks back down at Soarynn for a moment, not wanting to ignore her and she's already looking up at him, and she looks...impressed.
"Thank you, sir," Coriolanus says, not willing to let such a compliment go to waste. His whole life he's been trying to live up to the Snow name. Glen eyes his daughter for a second, a small smile growing on his face, "Yes. Well, don't let us stop you two from enjoying your night."
Soarynn's eyes slightly widen but Coriolanus won't let this moment go to waste, "Do you dance?" He asks her, hoping she'll say yes.
She brushes her hair behind her ears, giving him a small nod, "I do."
"Allow me the honor to dance with you then?"
Soarynn looks at her father, almost as if waiting for permission but all she gets in return is an amused look from Glen, "Alright," she finally says.
Coriolanus offers her his hand and she takes it, instantly warming his skin. It's just his luck that the orchestra strikes up a lively tune, allowing them to fall into a waltz. Coriolanus slips one hand around her waist, guiding them through the steps and she keeps up with him tremendously well.
Soarynn giggles when he spins her around and it's music to his ears. He wants to make her giggle all the time.
It feels so right to have her in his arms, by his side, safe and sound. He doesn't know what Soarynn is looking for, but he'd take such good care of her and Ceraphina.
Once the music comes to an end they're both out of breath and he's ready for a drink. "Would you like something to drink?" He asks, sliding his hand down to the small of her waist. Soarynn doesn't even blink at that movement, simply nodding, "Yes, dancing always leaves me parched."
They both walk over to the bar where Coriolanus orders bourbon for him and champagne for Soarynn. "You don't like bourbon?" He asks, wondering if she has a preference. Soarynn shakes her head, "I'm partial to anything sweet, and bourbon is not sweet." Coriolanus chuckles, handing her the glass of bubbly champagne, "You just haven't been drinking the right bourbon. I'll have to show you my collection."
Soarynn takes a sip of her champagne, humming contentedly, "Why am I not surprised that you have a collection?"
Coriolanus takes his glass from the bartender, thanking the man before turning back to Soarynn, "It's actually a rite of passage for a man to start some collection of alcohol. Festus collects wine, and I collect bourbon. I bet your father has quite the collection at home."
Soarynn rolls her eyes, taking another sip. The drink must be loosening her up because she's much more comfortable around him now, almost leaning into his touch, "My father has collections for everything. Books, photographs, drinks. It never ends."
Coriolanus wonders where they live, he's never seen them on the Corso and that's where all the rich families live. "What street are you on?"
"Cornelia Street."
Coriolanus almost chokes on his drink, she's only a block away and he never knew it. Cornelia Street is known for its gorgeous townhouses with private backyards and spacious rooms. Most Capitolites live in apartments but the few who can afford it live in townhouses. It's not surprising that Glen Nightingale resides on such a prominent street.
"I'm on the Corso," he tells her. Soarynn grins, tilting her head, "Really? I would've never thought," she teases.
More and more people spill into the Hall, the party getting even louder making it more difficult to hear her, "Do you want to go somewhere more quiet?" He asks, hoping for a more intimate space to talk. Soarynn furrows her brows and glances over at her father who's wrapped up in several conversations.
Coriolanus leans down so that his lips are right next to her ear, "You're in good hands I promise."
Soarynn bites her lip, weighing her options in her head before she finally nods, "Alright."
꧁ ꧂
The air is cold but it feels wonderful after being cooped up in a room with so many people. Soarynn sighs, tilting her head back as they walk out onto the balcony, "Much better than inside," she decides, looking at him from over her shoulder.
Coriolanus smiles, admiring her dress again, how it's the perfect shade of red, how it's just the right length. It's only missing a rose or two. Her shoulders are already covered in goosebumps so he doesn't hesitate to shrug off his suit jacket, "Here, don't want you to catch a cold out here."
Soarynn looks so genuinely surprised when he covers her shoulder with his jacket, and it makes him wonder if Felix ever offered her his coat. He barely spoke to Felix but he does recall him mentioning a girl he was courting every once in a while. It sounded like a business agreement more than a relationship to Coriolanus who was happy being free as a bird.
"Thank you," she says softly.
They both stare out into the open sky for a while, enjoying the silence. "You know I almost didn't come tonight," she says, breaking the silence. Coriolanus looks down at her, but she keeps staring straight ahead, "Why not?"
Soarynn shrugs, "Not really my scene. My father practically bribed me into agreeing to come in the first place. I always feel terrible when I have to leave Ceraphina behind."
Coriolanus can't recall a single time when Soarynn hasn't been without Ceraphina since he met them. "You two are inseparable," he decides, "she's very lucky to have you."
Soarynn softly chuckles, shaking her head, "I'm the lucky one. She's my biggest blessing, I don't know what I'd do or where I'd be without her."
Coriolanus wants to ask her about Felix, about the accident and how it all happened but...he doesn't. He prefers her company over finding out her secrets.
"She's very close with you," he observes, "and she looks just like you."
Soarynn nods, picking at her cuticles, "Well she doesn't really have a choice."
Coriolanus swallows, leaning against the balcony railing so that they're almost at eye level, "Her father isn't around anymore?" He carefully asks, not wanting to pry but if she's willing to talk about it, he's more than happy to listen. He has a feeling that she doesn't have a lot of people to talk to about all of this.
"Her father is dead."
Coriolanus watches her face carefully for any signs of tears but he finds none, only the hardened face of an independent woman who's raised an amazing little girl on her own. "He died before Ceraphina was born," Soarynn continues, picking at her skin even more and Coriolanus reaches out to take her hand, lacing his fingers through hers.
For a second he worries that he crossed the line but Soarynn only squeezes his hand tighter, "It was a car crash, no one saw it coming. Especially not me since I was newly pregnant. I didn't even go to the funeral which only led his parents to hate me even more."
Coriolanus rubs his thumb across the back of her hand, back and forth, "Her father was Felix Ravenstill wasn't he?"
Soarynn nods, her eyes trained on their intertwined hands, "His mother called me a slut when we found out I was pregnant, even though it was her son who pressured me into having sex with him, no protection of course because he's always been so good at pulling out. Turns out he wasn't." Soarynn gives him a bitter smile and Coriolanus can feel his heart break for her.
"You didn't deserve that," he tells her, "he shouldn't have pressured you and she had no right calling you a slut."
Soarynn sighs, her shoulders sagging, "Doesn't matter. Felix is dead, he honestly got off easier than I did. I was terrified to tell my father but he's been my biggest supporter, making sure Ceraphina and I have everything we could ever need. He thought Felix would take care of me but he always wanted to just help himself and fuck around without getting in trouble."
Coriolanus wishes Felix were still here so he could give him a piece of his mind. How could he hurt a girl as sweet as Soarynn?
"Felix was selfish," Coriolanus says slowly, not wanting to say the wrong thing about a very sensitive topic, "but he left you with something irreplaceable. Something that only you could make because when I look at Ceraphina, it's like I'm looking at you Soarynn."
She sniffles, quickly wiping away a stray tear from her cheek, "You don't even know me. You don't even know me and yet my daughter keeps asking about you and I find myself feeling completely safe in your presence."
Her words make his heart beat faster, it almost breaks out of his chest. "Well you two make it easy," he jokes, "you're both so sweet, and it's hard not to fall in love with Ceraphina's personality."
Soarynn laughs, nodding along with him, "I don't know where she came from," she admits, "I feel like she's nothing like me sometimes. So sweet and outgoing, so confident and brave. She's got a million friends at school and I don't have a single one right now. Without her, I would've never found you."
Coriolanus gently cups her face with his hand, her words striking something within him that he never knew existed. Soarynn looks up at him and he can see so many things in her dazzling eyes.
Uncertainty, nervousness, hopefulness, and maybe, just maybe some love.
"I think I've been looking for you my entire life," he admits, "and if you'll let me, I'd like to be there for you, be by your side, support you and every dream you've ever had. Let me take care of you Soarynn, I promise I'll be a better man than Felix."
Soarynn draws in a shaky breath like she doesn't believe him, "I have a daughter," she reminds him, "you won't get one without the other. Where I go, Ceraphina goes as well. That's probably why I haven't had much luck in finding a partner," she mumbles the last part but he won't have any of it.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," he assures her, "I plan on taking care of both of you and if I ever falter, you have permission to drag me and my name through the streets."
Soarynn's lips turn up into a soft smile, "I don't understand where you came from. It feels like this happened out of nowhere and I'm still waiting for an explanation."
Coriolanus rests his forehead against hers, leaving them mere inches apart.
"It's all in the timing."

OUTLAW (48)
ATEEZ poly!ot8 x Reader
Cowboy AU / Wild West
Series Masterlist
Warning: none
A/N NOT BETA READ. I had this chapter ready yesterday but not for my other story, and I hate not updating at the same time. I only stress myself out. ALSO! I will be creating a network for Stray Kids creators! Be sure to be on the look out.
With the hotel currently closed due to your father and family being gone for a bit, you all waited with anticipation in the saloon. Your family had returned the following day, coming back to the hotel having gone through some things. The workers your parents had–aside from your family–had explained that while your mother was gone, there had been a small mob coming in to find answers over your father.
They did keep the public from coming in, shouting and saying that they were fighting to keep the hotel from going up in flames from angry citizens. Your mother had praised them, even the boys, telling them that nothing going on had to do with the hotel. They were loyal workers, all of which knew that your family had nothing to do with the heist.
And so, all of you–workers included–were waiting patiently in the saloon for your father to enter. And when the man walked in, you heard your mother cry, rushing forward to fall into the arms of her husband.
“Dad!” Your siblings shouted, rushing forward.
“Oh, I'm so happy you're okay!” Your mother cried. “Did they treat you right?” She pulled back, pushing his face around checking for injuries.
“I wasn't there for long.” Your father smiled softly.
You watched him look over your siblings' heads, catching sight of you and the boys. “Thank you for taking me out of there.” He told them.
“Of course.” Hongjoong bowed his head. “You're (Y/N)'s family. You're one of us now.” He told them.
You watched as your father gave your mother a look for a moment before turning back to you. “May we speak with (Y/N) alone?” He asked them.
“No need to ask.” Seonghwa said, moving all the boys along.
“We'll be outside.” Yeosang whispered to you as he passed by. He draped his arm around your waist for a moment, dragging it along.
The hotel workers all gave you dad their greetings, pat on the back and walked out to give your family the time alone. Even your siblings took the time to walk out as well, your sister picking up your youngest brother and giving you a reassuring smile.
You turned to your father, eyebrows raising when you saw tears pulling in his eyes. His arm was wrapped around your mother’s shoulder, pulling her closer to him as he tried to calm down.
“Thank you. So much.” He cried, reaching out for you. “I'm so sorry for what I've done to you.” He sniffled, rubbing you back. “You are my daughter and I shouldn't believe what others say. You're the oldest and an adult now, it was something I didn't remember.” He wiped at his tears, pulling back to look at you.
“I'll always be your little girl, dad.” You sniffled, giving him a tight hug before pulling back to look at him.
“I know you will be.” You dad nodded to himself. “But now it's time for me to let you go.” He sighed deeply, looking at you.
“I will be honest and say I was expecting you to stay at home way into your 20s still working at the hotel but that wasn't the right thing.” He expressed. “I know you. I know you have so much potential to be a great person. Be someone you want to be. I can't stand in that way.”
You quickly went to hug him again, sniffling as tears fell from your eyes. There were a lot of things you thought about over the years about moving on with your life and leaving the family. You hadn’t really thought about how or when, but you did think about it. You would never imagine how tough things actually were for parents when they would watch their children leave and grow up.
But you had finally found where you were meant to go and you couldn’t be happier to hear that your parents were going to support you even after such hardships. Nobody was perfect, there were going to be mistakes made along the way. Especially for parents.
“I know who I want to be now.” You told him. “I'm ready to start the journey to get there.”
“With those boys?” Your dad asked softly.
You paused for a moment, sighing to yourself. A smile overtook your face thinking about the 8 boys who were waiting for you on the other side of the wall. There was no moment you would have thought 8 men who were seen as wanted criminals would be the ones who pushed you towards where you were meant to be going.
“I'm married to one of them.” You told him. “I go where he goes.”
“They're a rowdy bunch I give you that.” You dad laughed. “But they keep you safe. I know they do. And if not it'll be the other way around.” He joked, poking fun at you.
“They'll take care of you like one of their own.” Your mother told you, moving to hold onto your hands.
It was the first thing you had taken notice of when you met. Something you could only ever dream of having with other people who weren’t your family. And now you were there standing in the middle of all of them, a part of their tight knit group. Your dreams had come true, with even more.
“They're my family now.” You told her.
“Then they are welcome here anytime they want. Rooms will always be available.” Your dad laughed.
“I'm sure they'll appreciate it.” You beamed at your parents.
“Dad!” Your little brother burst into the saloon. “Come look at Jongho rip open fruits! It's so cool!” He gushed, turning around just in case he was missing something. As he turned to walk back to the others you heard him call out to your other brother. “Can you do that?” He asked.
Your dad quickly followed after your brother, laughing as he tickled your brother. You and your mother followed behind them, going into the other room where all the boys were having a great time laughing with your siblings and the hotel workers.
You had a bright smile on your face watching them all get along, your father joining in. Your mother was watching you look at all of them, laughing brightly when any of the 8 boys turned to look at you.
“You've grown so much in these last few months.” Your mother told you.
You turned to her, looking confused at her words. “I don't think I've changed that much.” You answered.
“Maybe you haven't noticed it but we sure have.” She continued turning back to the group. “And those boys are the reason.” She smiled softly. “Your father is a bit dense but that's because he's a man. I can see the way they all look at you.”
“I can also see they don't hold any negative feelings towards each other about it. They all care for you, and as your mother, I'm glad you have people like them to take care of you.” She squeezed your arm for a moment, showing her support.
Knowing they shared and cared for you all the same, the idea of one of them being jealous never really crossed your mind. They truly never really gave you a reason to think that. They didn’t act that way nor even show anything. There might be light fights over attention but you figured that was how it was going to be with the kind of personalities each one had.
They knew what they were getting into before even meeting you. You didn’t know if they had gone through it before but it was for sure something they had talked about often. You smiled when you caught Jongho’s eyes, grin stretching across your face.
“Things have changed a lot for me. But I'm glad it was because of them.”
