I got some of the Lucky 10,000 wrt Einstürzende Neubauten in the reblogs here, so:

Einstürzende Neubauten is an experimental music group from Germany (founded in 1980 in West Berlin). Their name literally means "Collapsing New Buildings" but Neubauten is more specifically associated with cheap, flimsy post-war buildings in Germany (and, given the extensive destruction in Germany during WWII, there were a lot of these "new-buildings").

Anyway, they're a experimental music group, though their earlier work is way more experimental with instruments made out of scrap metal and using recordings of sounds and noises* along with conventional instruments. You know, krautrock or kosmische Musik. Lots of noises and screaming. As in, "in 1984, Einstürzende Neubauten, with guests including Genesis P-Orridge, Stevo Pearce, Frank Tovey, and others, played a show titled The Concerto for Voices and Machinery at the ICA in London. After 20 minutes the venue halted the show when the band began to dig through the venue's stage with drills and jackhammers." It was industrial music before "industrial music" got to be more electronic and associated with cybergoths.

(As an aside, Blixa Bargeld, the main founder of the band, was also involved with The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, with whom you may be more familiar.)

I know, it's kind of intense.

Anyway, their more recent albums have a more conventional sound with chord progressions and everything.

This is, like, the most "normal" track of theirs lmao. Even the rest of that same album does weird stuff with found sounds (and we love it).

*this gets funnier when you remember the kid out on the ice with the tape recorder getting environmental sounds for remixing--you know, musique concrète.

Not to be too fixated and obsessive but the graff game in this game is amazinggggg! And I know I'm not the first person to notice this but I wrote this post at like midnight because I was just so delighted okay?

This is the side of the r&d building out in the hinterlands of the beach, right? And there's a lot to unpack here generally but this is what got me:

Circled in red is Sous la promenade-la plage! which is 100% a reference to "Sous les pavés, la plage!" ("Under the paving stones, the beach!") which comes from the May 68 protests and strikes in France. Students started building barricades out of paving stones and discovered that the stones were set on a base of sand. "The slogan encapsulated the movement's views on urbanization and modern society both literally and metaphorically." ("Under the paving stones, the beach!" is also the epigraph for Inherent Vice which is why I even saw this in the first place and I was immediately like gasp!!!) The May 68 unrest had soooo many good slogans.

Also the classic Einstürzende Neubauten logo too lol (who, incidentally, have a song called "Stella Maris" but I digress). Still picking everything out of that one but it made me grin. You see this one as graffiti unto itself IRL--or at least you used to, sigh.
