heyyy, my name is monse but you can call me Mo. i’m an 18 y/o mexican american w ADHD, i think that sums me up ok.

i’ve posted something like this two years in a row so let’s just make it a tradition :)

i’m about to graduate highschool and i’m honestly scared. my first post to try and make friend was about liking one direction, harry styles, and some other stuff i’ve forgotten, last years post was about me liking Minecraft youtubers and all that, but it’s safe to say those are no longer my main hyperfixations. i’m always down to talk about the minecraft community (the good and bad),the toxicity of the internet in general, and to discuss important topics overall, though, my current obsession is now percy jackson again.

To all of the seniors going through tough times right now and are feeling lost,scared, and not ready, i feel you. if you need someone to hear you out just hit me up. really, as dumb as you think you sound or feel, feelings are feelings. dealing with mental illness and other unhealthy habits at this point makes me feel a little bit helpless and scared to move on from high school, but i have to remind myself that i am not alone in this, that other people understand this feeling too. so im here for you, and proud of all of us who have tried our best to make it to graduation.

but anyways,,, let me tell you about me and my relationship with PJO

i loved percy jackson when i was in middle school and it was my whole childhood. i never finished the heroes of olympus series because i think i was scared to have it all come to an end. Now that i’m a senior about to graduate i’ve decided to reread the books and finally finish the series, and i need people to talk to about the books :D i think finishing this series is the closure that i need, but i feel like many people (especially seniors) are going through tough spots right now and if you need someone to talk to and if you are willing to hear me rant about percy jackson once in a while don’t be shy to hit me up! just a “hey” to start a convo and it can lead somewhere

and of course pery jackson isnt the only thing ive been liking recently,if you want to talk music im always open to reccomendations! currently ive been back into tyler the creator but i think he might just be my all-time fav, rex orange county being a close second though, ive also been listening to panic at the disco again lmfao mostly the first two albums tho because they are the best (i don't accept criticism on this), and i guess ive been listeing to some mac miller, will wood, glass animals, harry styles, declan mckenna, and a bit of carseatheadrest loll.

i like minecraft, geoguessr and tbh i love playing fortnite because i suck and its really funny to do dumb shit so im down to game if you want. (i also have stardew and terraria if anyone would like to play with me). if you can teach me or want to learn how to play chess with me that would be sick tooi also quite enjoy crafting, i occasionally like to crochet, make friendship bracelets,make silly little clay things,draw, and paint.

I dont watch many shows or movies but i am really fucking excited for the new season of the umbrella academy to come out and for the new doctor strange movie as well, like SO excited. and ofc the PJO series that is in the works AHHH. my current fave youtubers are the sturniolo triplets and the only podcast i watch/listen to is the chuckle sandwich podcast but i do love emergency intercom as well.

so yeah, hmu if you wanna chat about anything and everything, all of the time ;) (also i forgot to mention that im gay but if you are homophobic please leave)

okay tng is. complex. here’s how i’d do it I think. I’m jumping about a lot, and I’m also struggling to remember a lot of it because my first watch was 7 years ago and my rewatch w friends we just did Sherlock Holmes and then went straight into chronological order. so this is like, combo of a handful of eps I remember being plot important and just stuff that makes me laugh.

Elementary, My Dear Data (S2E3) and Ship In A Bottle (S6E12). a) introduces you perfectly to the concept of holodeck episodes, which will be important later b) DaForge married gay energy off the charts c) Picard is really fun. the only failing of this as a start is the tragic lack of Guinan

ALL of the Q eps. Speedrun the Qcard nonsense and get a lot of the overall show plot

Encounter at Farpoint (S1E1 and S1E2)

Hide and Q (S1E10) - unnervingly babyfaced Riker. you could skip this one but it lays some good basis for who the Q continuum are, but it’s kind of fun

Q Who (S2E16) - borg introduction! absolute must watch. The insanity of ‘to learn about you is frankly provocative… but you’re next of kin to chaos’ as a line alone, let alone the voice Patrick Stewart gives to it. Iconic episode.

Deja Q (S3E13) - Q getting turned into a human as punishment for being a naughty boy. V funny, must watch

QPid (S4E20 babeyyyyy) - MUST WATCH one of thee funniest episodes and experiencing the QCard speedrun from farpoint to qpid is a very special kind of brainworms

True Q (S6E6) - this one is skippable tbh, but it is pretty fond and I’m personally fond of running a full Q supercut

Tapestry (S6E15) - this one isn’t as fun as most Q eps but it is VERY TNG-ish and therefore a must watch. If you’ll forgive the pun, it really gets at the heart of Picard’s character

All Good Things (S7E25 and S7E26) - as with most Star Trek finales it’s not the best. You don’t have to watch this here but it can be a fun bookend for the Q speedrun

You could also go watch DS9’s Q-Less (S1E6) if you’d like to see Q get punched in the face, it’s really very satisfying

You kind of have to watch The Best of Both Worlds (S3E26 and S4E1). If you’ve seen TNG before, you don’t need to worry about when you watch it. If you haven’t seen any TNG yet, watch it here.

Darmok (S5E2) - THEE most star trek of all star trek’s. hmu if you ever want me to rant about Darmok I have a whole badly-structured personal essay about it ready to go at all times

Disaster (S5E5) - Geordi and Crusher teamup is really fun, and ‘executive officer in charge of radishes’ is the best line in all 7 seasons of TNG

Schisms (S6E5) - you could just watch from the opening until Data’s poetry recital ngl. The ep is decent and I’d personally watch it all but this ep is mostly about Data’s poetry.

Sub Rosa (S7E14) - Crusher fucks a ghost. iconic behaviour

Dixon Hill eps! They’re fun and silly and much like watching TOS’ A Piece of The Action

The Big Goodbye (S1E12)

Manhunt (S2E19) - Lwxana. I’d do anything for Lwxana

Clues (S4E14) - Guinan as Gloria is so much fun I love her and she should have got a full episode!!!!!

The Measure of a Man (S2E9) - important Federation and Data lore. Very emotional.

Yesterday’s Enterprise (S3E16) - Tasha’a back!!!!!!!! Just a very cool ep imo

Sarek (S3E23) - I can’t remember the plot I just know Sarek shows up in a lavender robe and has mad chemistry with Picard. I’m pretty sure they mind meld really hard??? Lord help me the old men you put on this spaceship to do politics are exploring eachothers’ minds in the most intimate manner possible <3

Unification (S5E7 and S5E8) - Spock attempts to re-unify Romulus and Vulcan. Iconic 2-parter, but definitely the kind of episode that benefits from watching with a friend so you can add commentary

if you like Romulan episodes you could watch the full Sela arc before this one (The Mind’s Eye S4E24, Redemption S4E26/S5E1, Unification)

Face of The Enemy (S6E14) - I can’t remember the entire plot but I’m pretty sure it was good and I love a good Romulan ep

The Host (S4E23) - Trill introduction!!!! So good.

The Game (S5E6) - profoundly stupid but worth it for how funny the graphics for the game are

Cause and Effect (S5E18) - just a pretty cool one

Time’s Arrow (S5E26 and S6E1) - One of TNG’s strongest plots imo

The Inner Light (S5E25) - another banger plot; Picard gets hit by a psychic probe and lives an entire life in a history that has already happened. there’s a really good Spones fic based on this episode and I could read an au like this for any ship I swear

Relics (S6E4) - Scotty!!!! It’s fun

Chain of Command (S6E10 and S6E11) - another one of TNG’s strongest plots. The origin of the ‘there are FOUR lights’ meme.

Birthright (S6E16 and S6E17) - this is an infamous double parter but all I actually remember is Julian Bashir appearing and meeting Data

Ensign Ro’s intro ep Ensign Ro (S5E03) i LOVE her

The Next Phase (S5E24) - cool ep where Ro and Geordi get stuck out of phase and are invisible from the crew, pretty fun

and the end of her arc with Preemptive Strike (S7E24)

I personally love Barclay and just choose to live in a universe where the misogyny wasn’t happening and he was just a weird little man, but if he bothers you, you can skip his arc. Don’t skip Genesis tho it’s good

I don't know how much this adds to the discussion regarding Animorphs being children's lit, but I think it's important to keep in mind that kids' books can get away with heavier themes than kids' shows tend to, so if someone's coming into the discussion with the framework of "for children" they may need to keep in mind that as a book it can cover more ground than a tv show that grownups just have to glance at to decide if it's "too much" for their kiddos (whether it is too much or not).

This definitely adds to the discussion of Animorphs as children’s lit! I think you’re hitting the nail right on the head. Many people don’t realize this (I didn’t realize this until I was in college and had a class on the subject) but television shows have to justify themselves to a metric shitton of people before they’re allowed to go on the air. Books only have to justify themselves to a moderate-sized committee, if that.

People who have the power to veto content on TV shows include (but are not limited to): individual writers who have a particular idea, head writers who don’t like the idea, script editors who might take it out, directors who refuse to film what they don’t like, videographers or artists who add their own creative vision to ideas, visual effects teams who can cut things based on budget, voice actors who can protest decisions they don’t like, episode editors who might take an idea out, producers who won’t back anything that might cause controversy, studio executives who can pull content that’s not “on brand,” national network crews that can decide not to air certain content, local network crews that can also decide not to air certain content, and future “backers” who might decide not to invest in a show based on its content.

People who have the power to veto content in books include: the author with the idea, the agent who publicizes it, the editor who polishes it, and the publishing agent who sells the idea. At most.

Nowadays, one can self-publish one’s own work with ZERO outside input, or else very little. The Martian was read by exactly two (2!) people before Andy Weir put it on the internet, and it became an international bestseller. It would be possible to make a self-published TV show with that little outside input… but most platforms wouldn’t promote it, and would probably take it down if it got hate-reported or had content violations. Not only that, but (as Cates pointed out) books get edited as content that has already been written, in a story that already exists. Shows get edited in the context of deciding whether it’s worth the trouble to write an idea that’s still hypothetical.

Television is ultra-conservative (in the sense of never rocking any boats in any direction) because it has to please hundreds of people with creative input and to justify its multi-million-dollar budgets. Books can reach the minimum production value necessary to be good with the influence of one person (okay, lbr, two people) and fifty bucks for printing or web-hosting fees. That’s the reason that only 42% of non-animated roles and 39% of animated roles go to women on TV, including only 12% of non-animated roles and 4% of animated roles going to women of color. By contrast, 63% of children’s lit on The Atlantic’s bestsellers list is written by women, about female protagonists; that’s not counting books by men about female protagonists. (They didn’t collect data on authors’ ethnicity; if anyone has this stat, HMU.)

It’s the reason that Arthur just made national news THIS FUCKING YEAR by depicting a same-sex (traditional) (Christian-coded) wedding ceremony, one that local networks in Alabama chose not to air. Meanwhile, in 2015 Cates presented a conference paper about the history of kids’ picture books with queer protagonists, a history that goes back to 1981 (Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin) and covers such mainstream 1990s series as Bruce Coville’s Magic Shop and Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants. We see the importance of the lack of gatekeepers: for instance, the author of Heather Has Two Mommies struggled to get a mainstream children’s press to pick up her book, so she went to a lesbian publisher, which ended up creating an entirely new branch for children’s books. (Apparently there were entire publishing houses just for lesbian books in 1987? The more you know.) One other interesting case study for queer content is Gore Vidal: in 1948 he published what would today be classified as a YA gay romance novel (The City and the Pillar) but in 1959 he had to “code” and hide the queer content in the Hollywood film (Ben-Hur) that he also wrote. Television to this day uses queer-coding in lieu of actual romance, especially when it’s kids’ TV (see: Legend of Korra or Adventure Time), while children’s literature has already made the push all the way into demanding that the queer romances in Grasshopper Jungle and Geography Club be more intersectional.

To be clear, it’s not like children’s books have carte blanche in this regard — Applegate and Grant have both apologized for having to code Mertil and Gafinilan rather than just marrying them off, and have expressed regret over not getting to write an openly bisexual Marco or openly trans Tobias. But kids’ books can still fly under the radar of the wowsers in a way that kids’ shows often cannot.

Anyway. Queer representation is obviously just one of a plethora of issues that get very different treatment in children’s books vs. children’s shows. There are plenty of others. Children’s shows can depict violence, but have to treat it as silly or inconsequential and avoid showing blood. (Because that’s a great way to teach kids about not harming others!!!) Children’s books can have as much blood — and, apparently, as many spilled entrails — as they would like, as long as those things don’t happen in the first couple of pages or make the cover summary. Neal Shusterman is responsible for some of the most cringe-inducingly silly AniTV episodes, and also some of the most brutally unflinching works of children’s literature I’ve ever read. American screen media are no longer subject to the Hays Code, but its marks still remain. American literature has pretty much always been the Wild West, and with the advent of online self-publishing, the west is getting wilder.

Don’t judge a book by its movie. And don’t judge a book by its show. AniTV is tame and silly, treating its violence as inconsequential and its characters’ mental health struggles as harmlessly or innocent. Animorphs has the courage to show that when you shoot a man he doesn’t just silently fall over and disappear but bleeds and screams and dies, that being a victim or a perpetrator of such violence can leave even “innocent kids” fighting for their lives against PTSD and depression. It has the courage… but it also has the freedom to do so. That’s an extremely important distinction that should not be overlooked.

Raven awoke tired and a little hungover in bed with Manila and Raja. She raised her head and sighed, then noticed the tall glass of water on the bedside table. She loosely remembered Raja padding out of the room just as Raven was drifting off (thoroughly fucked out and happy) and placing something on the bedside table. That was kind of her, especially considering the circumstances in which they’d met. Raven raised the glass and took a big drink, appreciative.

Raven sat on the edge of the bed quietly, not wanting to wake them. Maybe she’d go and make coffee or something. Or maybe she should just leave. Raven glanced over her shoulder. A perfect ray of sunlight was hitting the bed where Manila and Raja were still curled up, asleep, and whole thing was aesthetically glorious.

Raven wondered if what was about to do was ethical. But then she shrugged, and raised her phone. Also, she really liked them, and might be interested in seeing them again, so she held no malicious intent.

The photo she took was from a strong angle, consisting of the corner of her face, one eye visible, eyebrow raised, blonde hair smooth close to her head. Behind her was the bed, and Raja and Manila curled up, still asleep. Raja was deep in the covers, only one closed eye, her forehead and a streak her long grey hair visible. Manila was next to Raja, lying on her back fast asleep with her mouth open, the cover pulled up to her chin.

She hit send.

BITCH replied Juju, quickly, with about eighteen emojis, you fucked them both???

you bet replied Raven, smug.

Wait a sec, Juju replied. Then the second text came in.

what?? Raven looked down at her phone, concerned.

The blood drained from Raven’s face, and she looked back at Manila, who was… well, a young woman who’s last name she hadn’t asked for and who’s social media who hadn’t checked out. But in a big, multicultural city like this who would’ve expected her to be related to Raven’s best friend?

She mildly regretted sending the photo. Maybe it was an invasion of privacy.

Raven got up and walked to the bathroom. She quickly rinsed her face and mouth. She put the unexpected information from Juju about Manila aside for now, and decided not address it. This really wasn’t the time or the place. Then she padded over to the kitchen. It was a bit cluttered, clearly well-used and loved.

There was an espresso machine on the counter, and Raven grinned. She knew how to work one of those, having done the time in her early twenties as a barista. While the water heated, Raven looked at the pictures on the fridge. There were kitschy magnets from a few places around the world, ‘Paris, je t'aime!’, and several photos, including two goofy school pictures of Raja and Manila respectively. Manila glared at the camera, about thirteen and deep in an emo phase, judging by her racoon-like eyeliner, back-combed hair and striped long-sleeved shirt. Raja’s picture was more innocent, a goofy-looking androgynous nine-year old with a big smile, round face and black hair sticking up awkwardly.

Raven snorted a laugh. She appreciated this couple’s sense of humour, displaying silly pictures on their fridge.

She sighed. She shared her apartment somewhat resentfully with two room mates. It wasn’t an ideal situation but it was cheap and because of that she’d been able to put aside some savings. If only Tyra would do the dishes every once in a while. Not to mention she was pretty sure Nicole had a crush on her, and she had to figure out how to let the other girl down easy. In fact, Nicole was probably taking her dog for a walk right now. Raven winced and sighed. Whatever, these were problems for Future Raven. Hopefully she’d find a better job soon, and move on.

The espresso machine was gurgling, so Raven moved over and dealt with it.

A few minutes later she snuck back into the bedroom with three cups of espresso. She was a little nervous, this wasn’t something she’d normally do. She was more of a leave immediately after sex or quickly in the morning kind of lover. But this felt like the right thing.

She put the coffee on the bedside table and sat on the bed, heart suddenly beating quickly.

The movement of Raven sitting back down on the bed disrupted Manila, who blinked her eyes open and yawned, stretching. The movement then woke Raja, who groaned and buried her face deeper into the pillow, disappearing under the duvet. Manila blinked and smiled sleepily at Raven.

“Good morning… oh! You made coffee!” said Manila, and she threw the covers off and made for the bedside table where Raven had put the little cups, “Oh my god, is that espresso?”

“Did somebody say espresso?” muttered Raja from deep in the blankets.

“Yeah, I made some,” said Raven, gently.

“That’s nice, you’re so sweet!” enthused Manila, kissing Raven on the cheek. Manila was shockingly perky, having been awake for less than one minute, “And I thought you were all mean and sexy last night…”

“She’s great. Keep your voice down,” muttered Raja.

Raven stifled a laugh, and sipped her own coffee. Manila crawled off the bed and threw on a robe, before sitting next to Raven and drinking her coffee in silence. Eventually, a long brown arm stuck out of the pile of covers that contained Raja, and Manila carefully put the cup of espresso into her hand. The arm retreated into the pile of covers almost cartoonishly. The only evidence of Raja’s existence was a small slurp and a happy sigh.

“I had a really nice time with you two, last night,” whispered Raven, putting a hand on Manila’s thigh.

“Aw thanks! I did too, and Raja as well,” replied Manila, quietly.

“Lovely, so… I can leave whenever, if you’ve got something you’re doing today-”

“Oh, don’t worry about it,” replied Manila, smiling so that the edges of her eyes crinkled happily, “Neither of us have plans, you can hang out for breakfast, whatever suits you.”

“Right, well,” replied Raven, her heart glowing a little upon hearing she was welcome to stay, “I really need to shower.”

“Mmm, I think I’ll join you,” said Manila, putting down her cup down. They both glanced back at the pile of blankets and pillows that contained Raja somewhere deep within it.

“Yeah, she won’t be really awake for a while.”

Of course, Raven ended up on her knees in the shower eating Manila out against the wall. A truly good start to the day, Raven mused to herself as Manila squirmed and gasped, throwing her head back with pleasure. What could be better?

When they were finally done, they found Raja in the kitchen, starting to cook. The older woman had put her hair up on top of her head in a messy bun, wore dark-rimmed glasses and an elaborately patterned silk robe.

“Your glasses are too cute,” said Raven, as she towelled her hair dry. She was wearing a borrowed bathrobe, one of an apparently infinite supply, “Anything I can help with?”

“No, just sit there and look pretty,” replied Raja, with an affectionate smile.

“That’ll be easy.”

Breakfast was insanely good. It was better than any breakfast Raven had had in a long time, and she’d certainly worked up an appetite. Raja could really cook. They hung around the table for a while, chatting away about plans for the weekend and this and that. Eventually Raven changed, slipping her dress from last night back on, feeling a bit weird next to the other two, who were wearing relaxed weekend clothes. It was time to retreat to her own apartment and chill out.

“I think I’ll call an uber,” said Raven to Raja. Manila was checking her phone, and Raja was putting dishes in the sink.

“I can give you a ride,” said Raja, shrugging.

“You sure?”

“Yeah, it’s no problem.”

“Okay, thanks,” said Raven. She supposed it’d be worth it to save the eight dollars on the ride.

“Manila, you want to come?” asked Raja, half-turning towards the other woman.

“Ah, no, sorry I have to make a call in a few minutes,” said Manila, giving Raven an apologetic smile.

Manila then engaged in a drawn out goodbye with Raven, leaving her with lingering kisses and an exchange of numbers. Raja watched from the door, lacing up her shoes, and raised a single eyebrow. Then Raven got her little purse and left with Raja. Her high-heeled club shoes clicked along the floor of the hallway.

In the carpark under the building, they approached an ugly 90’s style green car.

“Wow, this thing is ancient,” joked Raven, sitting down on the worn passenger seat. But unlike Juju’s car that seemed to be always covered in empty takeout containers and random garbage, Raja’s was meticulously clean. Raven didn’t have a car, but everything she did was comfortably within either cycling or public transit distance, and for anything that wasn’t Juju would drive her.

“Yeah, so everyone tells me,” chuckled Raja, shifting into gear, “But it’s reliable, hasn’t died yet. I made it through Hurricane Katrina in this thing.”

“You can drive stick?” asked Raven, curious, “Also… what?”

“Yep,” replied Raja, winking, “And I’ll tell you that story sometime if you’re lucky.”

“Hmm.” Raven was impressed and she eyed Raja’s tattooed hand on the gearshift as she confidently manoeuvred the car out of the parkade into the street. The bright sun burst through the windshield, and reflected off of Raja’s white Tshirt.

“So,” said Raven as they drove, after she’d given Raja her address. She felt a bit exposed, without any makeup on and her hair still slightly damp from the shower.

“So,” replied Raja, smirking a little at Raven’s uncharacteristic hesitance, “Manila gave you her number, right?”

Raven nodded, and then she had no idea why she said it, but suddenly it was out of her mouth, “It turns out I distantly know her.”

“Oh yeah? From where?”

“She’s my friend Juju’s second cousin.”

Raja stiffened at the mention, shifting the clutch and accelerating through the green light, “You know her family?”

“No. She just happens to be related to her. Juju’s my best friend,” replied Raven, inwardly cursing. Why had she even mentioned it?

“How did you find out?”

“Checked out her instagram this morning, realized the connection,” Raven lied quickly, guilt flaring in her stomach.

“Right. Well. Manila’s family is pretty religious,” said Raja matter-of-factly, but Raven could see lingering resentment in her expression, “Let’s just say they don’t approve of us and leave it at that. Maybe don’t mention this to your friend.”

“Of course not.”

“Good.”

Raven wondered if she could have handled that better. But then again, family was complicated.

They pulled up at Raven’s soon after that. Raven was having a hard time getting a read on Raja, so she decided to say exactly how she felt and Raja could interpret it however she so desired. They’d been quiet for the last few minutes of the drive. It was a beautiful day, thought Raven, looking out the window at the bright blue sky.

“Well, I had a great time with you two last night and I hope you stay in touch, I’d love to see you again,” said Raven, with a warm smile as she opened the door to get out.

“I had a good time as well,” said Raja, with a half-smile, “I, ah, just felt a bit weird with you bringing up Manila’s family. I’m basically suspicious of anyone who knows them since they’ve been so shitty to us over the years. But yeah, I like you too. Until next time.”

And then Raja leaned in and kissed Raven intently. Raven raised her eyebrows, surprised. And then Raja pulled back and gave her an absolutely filthy grin, and when Raven left the car she waved. Raven waved back and saw in Raja the same goofy energy as she’d seen in the childhood photo on her fridge. It was a bit of a shock after her cool exterior, but charming.

Hmmm. It seemed the night before had worked out in the best way possible. Raven opened the front door to her building and nodded pleasantly to her elderly neighbour, who looked her up and down disapprovingly.

Raven walked up the two flights of stairs towards her apartment, feeling thoroughly satisfied. She had work on Monday and a bunch of laundry and groceries and chores to do before then. Also, Juju would be back Sunday afternoon and she was looking to reuniting with her best friend after their brief time apart.

There was much to discuss.

The following morning she received a text.

her full name is luna cleopatra garnet. (her mother was a fan of fantasy & whimsy) though she often goes by her nickname, red.

the history of the nickname is a story of the chicken or the egg. red is usually donned head to toe in the color, for it is her absolute favorite. she can often be seen about town in her famous red cape, first gifted to her by her grandma when she was a little girl. she loved it so much, that every birthday after her granny stitched her up a new one after the old one had been worn, and torn, and outgrown.

her grandma will say she made the first cloak because little luna loved red so much, but luna will claim she loved the color because it was the shade of her favorite red hood.

red is the child of a single mother. she was raised by her mother and her granny, who loved her dearly. it was a supportive household, filled with kindness, tenacity, and joy.

she were never very well off, luna’s mother worked multiple jobs to support them, and luna starting doing small odd jobs of her own as soon as she was able. she would pick flowers in the woods and sell them to her neighbors as a young girl, and would eventually log many hours babysitting, cleaning, or gardening for others as a teen.

she was always an adventurous and independent child, and that carried into her teens and young adulthood. she liked to explore, make friends, and lived in an innocent world.

ABUSE TW: when she was in high school, she was involved in an abusive relationship with a boy she didn’t love, and one who didn’t love her, though he had always claimed otherwise. but that wasn’t love, she would soon learn that. for the first time, she was lying to her mother, to granny. she walked through the world hidden under a red hood. and when she eventually broke down, had had enough and came clean, it was the women she loved who rescued her, who patched her up and gave her strength. red is courageous and adventurous. she likes to explore.

she is often lead astray, she is easily distracted by the beautiful and intriguing, which can get her into trouble.

because of this, it is often hard for her to stay focused on one task or stay dedicated to a single project.

she is fiercely loyal to those that she loves. she will literally do anything for you. SHES GOT U SIS

has a love for flowers and nature, and shes very drawn to the moon. that was probably her mother’s fault for naming her luna, but she feels a deep connection to it.

she considers herself an optimistic realist. she is generally very kind and generous, but she sees the world for what it is. she’s no longer the little girl wandering through the trees alone, she protects herself. at times, she can still be a bit too impulsive, trusting, and naïve. she is trying to be more cautious, more observant. she doesn’t want that to harden her though.

when her parents miraculously made up and renewed their vows, their household expanded and candice became the big sister of four baby siblings

because she was almost a teenager at this age, her parents had expected her to be on her own, while they focused on their business and prioritized their recent children whenever they got the chance to do so

she had to watch her parents giving the love and affection to her younger siblings, what she had been craving for when she was a lonely little girl

candice may be seen as a rich kid by others, but she’s the type who falls close to the bottom, which meant that hanging out with the most popular kids in school was not in her league, though she strived for their validation and charmed her way into their clique

her charm and manipulative ways made it convenient for her to get free things from her richer friends, which made it easier for her to save up ( smart cookie, eh ? )

she climbed up the social ladder by being relevant in school, building up a reputation of being the gorgeous rich girl who appeared in the hottest events and was associated with the most memorable people in her school, even the hot english teacher that girls assumed was gay, not until candice made her move

but she didn’t limit her audience to the elite, even trying to charm cliques of other kinds, such as the jocks, stoners, etc. living up to her label “the chameleon” by building connections and seeking for advantages

when she grew older, the less she got home. either staying with a friend, a hotel, anything to really avoid her parents when they were home

she was a party girl but knew how to prioritize her studies

she graduated high school with flying colors as a salutatorian, which her parents were proud of, but candice had gotten cold and thought it was too late for them to reach out to her now

she is now taking up engineering in university, though she is still the wild child who sleeps around with richer people, regardless of how old they are and is an aspiring sugar baby and trophy wife

QUICK IMPORTANT FACTS: candice destroys the stereotypes of being objectified as a “pretty girl” by being studious and prioritizing her academics. in spite of this, she loves manipulating people to get what she wants for her enjoyment, but she is also capable of being independent and doesn’t get attached, which is why she shifts from one person to another

she may be one of the hottest and best dressed, but she enjoys html, computer science, and computer hacking on her spare time. this was something she adapted from one of the people she’s dated when she was in her early teens

she is capable of backstabbing and betrayal, as well as plotting on revenge to anyone who might spite her. she’s a kitty with claws and could get physical when she deems necessary

ZACHARY SULLIVAN:

zach was born and raised in hawaii, with an older sister and his native parents. unfortunately, his mother passed away when he was three, to which his family was devastated with. zach hadn’t known her very well, but he’s heard stories of how amazing and sweet she was

his father, has always been a certified alcoholic, and his vice had worsened when he grieved over the loss of his wife, making him very distant and hostile towards zach and his sister. they never had the best father-son relationship, which had zach seeking for other father figures, only to return to the image of his father and his problematic ways

he was nurtured by the tender love and care of his grandparents instead, and zach was a certified beach bum that enjoyed certain hobbies such as surfing and swimming, since they lived close to the beach

he saw no importance in his studies, deciding to bolt off with his friends or skip his classes to have fun. he got away easily since his family was rich and his grandparents always got his back when he was failing his subjects. he was definitely spoiled by his grandparents that he grew with a feeling of entitlement

zach had a natural charm regardless of his lethargy, which made him a persuasive and eloquent speaker to his peers and others

by the age of 12, his father met a woman ( a tourist ) and fell in love, which made zach and his family move to california to live with the woman and her daughter

they eventually got married and zach had to live with his step mother and step sister, but these two never got along, and zach always felt like there was a competition amongst the three of them, trying to be the best child to his father ( though he and his full-blooded sister were often on good terms )

he joined the swimming team in high school and had appeared in various competitions

he developed his first love that only broke his heart and made him want to close his heart to ever love again

he grew into a fuqboi, being irresponsible and aiming to be a bigger disappointment to his father and step-mother, who were both greatly catching on

he would sabotage his step sister with every chance he gets since she gets on his nerves for some reason

and he thrived to have their attention, even when it was negatively, feeling smug and getting into arguments with them to feel alive

he’s gotten acquainted best with the popular kids and the stoners, since he was often getting high, attending parties, or ditching his classes to do anything else

zach was one of the common students to get into detention, since he was always getting into trouble and wasn’t really afraid when he got caught

he’s got anger issues and would seem bossy and demanding whenever he feels like it. he’s also not afraid to get physical with people since he can be quite hedonistic

he’s got massive abandonment issues and hates the thought of being alone, and would rather spend a night with a stranger, in spite of him being defensive of his clinginess

he’s actually got a lot of issues like this list could go on but pls do love my problematic son he needs all the character development he can get

he takes up human resources since he wants to get into the business of recruitments, though he’s been held back from his subjects since he doesn’t plan on attending most of them

THEIR HISTORY TOGETHER:

zach and candice have a messy history of being on/off friends with benefits in high school, that eventually led to an open relationship, where they agree to see other people individually or see other people together. they have grown an attachment to each other but neither has thought about taking the relationship seriously, but it still complicates the people they’re dating, since they make up and break up every time

group video chatting (also this is really long I'm sorry)

so I’ve submitted to this whole blog twice before and I’ve actually found some pretty good friends that I still talk to and it’s always been really fun. but I’ve always had this little kinda dream idea- even though it’s kinda silly, of having this group of online friends that actually become really close and just constantly video chat each other, and just like become a group of best friends you know. so idk maybe it’s a bit unrealistic but I’ve never actually seen someone do this before so I was thinking that If anyone wanted to (god I’m really bad at explaining this) like meet some new people, but instead of just online chatting we can actually see each other and talk- plus it’s with other people which makes it slightly easier to get a convo going. because I imagine that when you video chat it actually makes it more likely for you to still talk and something about it seems more intimate and real which might help actually create a friendship 🤷🏿‍♂️. but yeah that was just a lil explanation of the whole point of this thing. so now to the actual introduction.

x - my goal today is to get some more plots going bc everyone is so nice and i'm loving all of the characters i see so far but i want some more detialed relationships w them. so ya gonna include some plots i want and if any strike your interest slide in my dm's.

friend stuff

CLOSED - ALLEGRA .*☆ frenemies ; they're friends because lol #squadgoals ?? am i right? but they hoenstly have NOTHING in common other than their mutual friends. they try to do things together on their own, but things are always really awkward and surfaced between the two. i sense some future backstabbing with these two.

CLOSED - CHLOE .*☆ prank partner in crime ; these two are always pranking one another or pranking others together. people on the internet always rave about how hard they ship the friendship because they’ve made endless hilarious videos of them being trolls... think like this

CLOSED - GRAZIA .*☆ stress b(all)estie ; always there for mae when she needs an open ear and to talk shit. she’s one to usually bottle things up, but not with this one. one of the few who knows about her sexuality, and is always giving her advice bc mae is #messy.

CLOSED - AXEL .*☆ stoners in crime ; these two are always smoking when they’re together. probably trying other drugs too, but weed always comes first. they smoke then watch silly cartoons or talk about life for hours.

OPEN .*☆ gym buddies ; working out is harder when you’re alone, so when mae isn’t with her trainer she is with this person. they always post cute gym selfies together on snap and the gram to show off their progress.

OPEN .*☆ staged friendship ; it’s not that they don’t like each other... it’s just that they’re not really friends at the end of the day. these two did a duet together, and in order to raise the attention their song receives, management is constantly staging opportunities for people to buy that they are the best of friends. how about NO.

OPEN .*☆ #same ; also closeted (m or f or nb tbh), mae and this person bond over the simple fact that they both are living lies for the sake of their careers. they come to one another about dealing with the pressure and make things easier for one another. what if one actually came out though??? would the other feel compelled to follow suit or just feel abandoned and slightly jealous??

not-so-friendly stuff

OPEN .*☆ enemies!!! ; there’s nothing fake about their hatred towards each other. no one can quite put their finger on what started it all, but these two can’t stand one another. they’ve bad mouthed each other on the internet and in interviews and things are only getting worse between the two.

OPEN(F) .*☆ the other woman ; mae’s last staged relationship ended with a HUDGE cheating scandal where the male was found going out with another girl in the spotlight. while the relationship was fake, the cheating was very real. mae could really care less about the other woman, but for the sake of the cameras and juicy story she ha to pretend to hate the other. what she hates more is that the media would rather see girls fight over a guy than ban together.

CLOSED - SMAUEL .*☆ the ex ; this would be the guy who cheated... he didn’t know (still doesn’t) that mae is secretly gay, but he does know that their management forced them into dating a year or so back. he didn’t think she wasn’t attracted to him, just more so that she was boring as hell. while mae’s feud with the other woman is almost completely staged, her anger towards her ex is real. his actions fucked up her image, and she’ll never forgive him for that.

CLOSED - MINA .*☆ the real ex ; while mae was dating (read above), he wasn’t the only person messing around behind her back. hey, a girl’s got needs. she and this person secretly had relationships and very real feelings going about where no one could see. mae swore up and down she was falling in love, but ultimately her desperation to stay closeted and not leave her “boyfriend” is what tore them apart. this person couldn’t take the lies and hetero switch flipping on and off any longer. mae holds lots of pain towards this person, because they truly broke her heart.

romantic stuff

OPEN(F) .*☆ unrequited love part i. ; mae has the BIGGEST crush on this person, but they are soooo straight it’s not even funny. it causes mae to be unnecessarily nice and awkward in front of them. think middle school crush type of stuff.

CLOSED - KALEB .*☆ unrequited love part ii. ; mae is so clueless to the fact that this guy has been feeling her for most of their friendship. she thought things were just platonic, and that he was just a super nice guy. but once he finally spills his guts about his feelings, her preexisting “boyfriend” may not be the only obstacle in his way.

OPEN(M) .*☆ pr relationship ;in order to cover up mae’s secret, management has stuck her in yet ANOTHER pr relationship. this time, he knows the secret... well, only because he caught her messing around with a girl. this relationship is a bit more functional and healthy where they can juggle this act they have going on as well as a friendship.

CLOSED - MARLOWE .*☆ secret love interest ; just wanna see where this goes, completely based off of chemistry.

CLOSED - PHOEBE .*☆ flirtationship ; some girls platonically flirt with their friends, nbd... but this girl may not realize that mae is very serious in the little jokes she makes.
