Well, I don't know if ever mentioned it before but I'm a self-taught artist like many other people in the art community.

I started drawing as soon as I was able to hold a pen in my hand haha soo.. pretty early I guess. Throughout my childhood I've been drawing traditionally and by the age of 12 (when my mom bought us the first computer) I discovered MS Paint (software that I've been using all these years until today). Due to financial reasons I've never had a graphic tablet (still don't have one today even tho now I can go buy one, I don't need one anymore lol) or any fancy tablets/ devices to digitally draw sooo... I had to learn all the tough work with nothing but a shaky hand and freaking mouse.

I've been passively studying art (anatomy, proportions, shadowing/lighting, color pallets, etc.) just by looking at other digital artist's works for years. I'd always try to understand and memorize their concepts to later apply them in my own art to reach the same effectiveness??? or to basically be able to look at my own art for more than 3 seconds before I irreversibly throw it in a Folder of tears and shame lmao.

Finding a satisfying original style wasn't easy either as I've been fluctuating a lot through years and even months. (there's a big difference in how my drawings looked just 2 months ago and how they look right now). For a very long time I had a 'cute animu' phase... style? that I used to enjoy then it slowly turned into a more 'dramatic/ angsty' style then into a more semi-realistic style that's my current artstyle. I guess I finally found what works the best for me as I'm slowly starting to enjoy my drawings lol. I'm the worst critic to myself but I'm working on it.

Practice.

I make sure that no matter what, I draw something everyday. This is the holy concept that I make sure to apply every single day. It doesn't matter if I'm not in the mood or bored or whatever, I always make time to at least sketch/ doodle something. It helps greatly in the long run and I usually come back to thank myself for doing that.

That's pretty much all I do since I was a kid and discovered digital art. 'Gaze at other's art and practice, practice, practice.'

First Impressions: honestly his design doesn’t really appeal to me. my friend said he looked like a TWST chara but honestly i can’t see it based off what I know about that game. also his name makes me think of betel nuts. that said i like the little skits he did for his pre-debut vids.

Debut: he has a very… “bro-ish” voice lol. also he’s talking really fast. idk if it’s bc of the nerves or not. pulling out the slide out of his hat was very creative ngl. betel nut man confirmed. idk what to make of his comedy, it’s good but not really to my taste. he’s really loud so i probably wont watch him much or my ears may explode. mascot is cute tho ig. purple likers based. also… this guy laughs at his own jokes? at least he loves himself so good ig? actually nvm he doesn’t RIP. fuck cockroaches tho. he plans to do drinking streams? oh god i can’t imagine how chaotic he’ll be on alcohol. also he can’t cook?! dear lord. omg that catwalk is pretty af. also his design has grown on me, bro jumped out of an otome LMAO.

First Impressions: he looks like a tiny little apple 🍎. baby boy, baby (or is he? i didn’t follow these guys on twt so i wouldn’t know). but lmao at that edgy-ass name 🖤🥀⛓. then again one of my oshis also has a chuuni name (but its in japanese so my monolingual ass can ignore it kek) so i can’t really judge. it seems the name was chosen to fit with the design as it is more overt abt the sci-fi stuff than all the others. friend said he looked like an edgy und3rt4le oc and while i get the edgy oc part i don’t get the und3rt4le part. his skits were frankly amazing and i don’t think anyone can top them.

Debut: that intro screen is so cute oml. also the logo bounces around like a tv on standby thats really neat! music is cool too! omg he did a “behhh” i like him alr! his lore video was nice and funny too. if im not mistaken he’s the first tempus member to have a dedicated lore vid right? now that i’m hearing his natural voice it sounds really pleasant! must protecc. i may be shorter but im calling him short anyways for lols. he looks cute when he’s angry www. his layouts are pr creative i love this man. he screams loud but its okay he is babi. vegetable dislikers are based and no one can tell me otherwise. if this is him at low energy, how would he be at high energy? headpats tskr. outro is cool.

First Impressions: pretty boy. purple is my favorite color + most of my oshis are associated with blue so his indigo color just makes me mesmerized. and because of that it would be funny if his voice was deep as hell. my friend said he looked like a jenshin chara and while i do understand that bc jenshin is many people’s first exposure to this kind of fashion… okay yeah he kinda does look like a jenshin chara. instant roll lmao.

Debut: his intro is pretty dope, especially with the music. omg he can do metal screams?!? his voice isn’t deep as hell but its still not what i expected. weirdly enough it still fits. i really like his sense of humor the most so far. he talks at an average speed to me but ppl have said i talk fast so im probably not the best judge i retract my statement he actually does talk fast. OMG A VOCALOID FAN B A S E D. i think i can hear an accent, a pretty thick one at that. yknow what, shinri has competition when it comes to who’ll get demonetized first. my boy drawing with ms paint lmao. probably gonna become my oshi for this wave (?).

First Impressions: the boing boings are on full display. pec nation has won. now we must prepare for the ultimate battle, the battle against demonetization. jokes aside his design is kinda generic imo but if it works it works. also he actually looks slightly older than everyone else so thats a plus. friend said he looked like a himbo and tbh i get that. but from what ik he doesn’t seem like one so far? he’s giving off more “father figure” vibes to me.

Debut: the intro bgm is chill which makes me hope he’ll be chill too. holy shit his voice is really deep, like probably the deepest out of the vtubers i’ve seen so far. i think his laugh is cute. so far the chillest of them all, which admittedly isn’t a hard bar to clear. i do appreciate the simpler debut this time, the other guys production values and ideas were good but this one will definitely age gracefully. daddy (platonic). mans has his priorities in order. the little JRPG section was neat, my friend called it when they said “jrpg vibes”. yet another league player, nobody is perfect. probably won’t watch him much if he goes ahead with the horror stuff bc its not my genre but i appreciate him carving out a little niche for himself.

OVERALL:

I like most of them, but I’m worried the group dynamic may be a bit unbalanced this time around. We got three loud guys and one chill dude, which will be an… interesting combo. These guys seem to have lots of cool ideas and potential, so I would be interested in seeing how they could improve. 8/10 stars, mostly enjoyed the relay.

18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken: Not many! Less than $100 I'd say. I'm very careful with my supplies, and I don't believe I've ever broken a tablet. The worst I've done was I busted 1 or 2 cheap tablet pens with stupidity.

19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.): Definitely nature. Tree trunks and swirls therein, flowers, grass.

The one where VT finds someone small and it's their POV and he helps them and puts them in his shirt pocket??? Most people were completely normal about that post. But then there's one chuckle-head who was calling it pocket-vore, and I wanted to scream. I even chastised them like 'hey uh, no. That's not what this is.' and they argued back with 'well it's up to the eye of the beholder more than your opinion.' and I was like 'UH NO. I MADE THIS. MY OPINION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR WEIRD ONE???' I've also RAAARELY had people call my characters underaged when they're all well over 21, so those are always gross/wild LMAO.

Canvas sizes

As for canvas sizes everything is pretty simple. I used to experiment with it before but nowadays I just start with this basic 2048×2048 square canvas and then when the sketch is finished or if in the process I see that there’s not enough space for it to be finished I adjust the format.

Brushes

Right now my favorite brush is this pixel brush ^^

I was feeling kinda nostalgic for the good old times when I was just a kid drawing shit in ms paint on my mom's computer so I wanted to find some brushes for procreate that would be similar to ones in ms paint. And this is the best I found. It's basically the first set of brushes google gave me when I searched "pixel brushes for procreate" lmao

Tho this one is only used for sketches.

For something more serious I like using these ones which are just average procreate brushes

literally the first two in the set :/ I use them for sketching as well as for colouring the traditional art from my sketchbook.

And the last one of my favorite brushes is this Abel Eraser one. According to it's title I am probably supposed to use it as an eraser but obviously I don't care ^^ I downloaded it years ago so I can't remember where I found it but i guess the set I stole it from is called "Abel Essentials". I just took it from its original set and put it in between the previous two brushes so its easier for me to find

I use this brush to colour most of my digital art.

Layers

I don't use too many layers actually. I think the average amount is about 5 for works like these two, which are the most complex ones out of all that I've done lately.

It's basically because i do all the colouring on one layer that being the one I did the sketch on. So this is the reason why the sketch layer can't be seen in the layers of the pic with Misa and there's only a very simple one in the layers of the pic with Mikami, the final sketch was combined with the colour layer lol.

Other layers are used for some very specific details, filters or rendering.

However in the process up to 10 layers can be used. Usually I use multiple layers to sketch in the beginning because it's easier that way to experiment a little to find the right pose or face expression for the character. Also I add base colours on a separate layer under the one with the sketch but then again I combine them as soon as all base colours are there, and all the details are added on the same layer since then. So yeah basically I add layers for everything I'm not sure about while working on a pic, but once I am sure I combine everything and delete all the extras.

For more simple works like these two there's usually only about 1 or 2 layers left in the end because such pics to not require any filters or rendering.

Coloured sketches are a different case... As you can see there's a bunch of layers used here....

I think the amount of layers used can go up to 20. Thats because there's at least some kind of lineart present so I gotta be a bit more accurate with the colouring and it becomes easier to just add a separate layer for every detail. Also I don't care so much about deleting the extra ones or even trying to organize anything at all with this kind of stuff so that's another reason for having so many layers.

If she’s mad or frustrated, her drawing would look kinda rough and not that cute anymore

No matter on what perspective you look his drawings at, It’ll still look bad

Osamu laughs a lot at his drawing and they started fighting for that only reason smh

A pretty decent drawer

Akagi always draw happy and cute drawings so you’ll also get happy when you saw his drawings

Puts on a big smile when people compliments his drawing and shyly scratches the back of his neck

“Nah, this just look normal!”

But he draws oddly thick lines sometimes

Sometimes it looks good in some drawing

And sometimes it looks, bizzare in others...

But I think his drawing would look nice <3

Overall, I’ll give a,,, 7.5/10, keep up the good work

Oomimi

He’s from class 7 AND I really think that he’ll be good at drawing

Well, he can draw a few things but he struggles drawing other things he never accustomed to

But!

Oomimi is that kid who’s good at drawing scenery

He knows basic color palettes and which is cold and hot colors

So the scenery drawing would always look good

He get a lot of compliments for the drawing (50% of it from Akagi)

I think he doesn’t have that many time to relax and draw freely but when he does have it, it’ll just be small and simple doodles

um, let’s go with 8/10 <3

Aran

I truly believe that Aran can draw peoples face but in a pretty decent amount

He’s also good with anatomy teach me your ways king

But as much as he’s good at that, he kinda sucks at drawing any kind of background drawings

Mans can’t draw a scenery I’m telling you

As if the background doesn’t even exist in his mind lolol I’m sorry Aran lovers, I didn’t mean that in a bad way

Mainly uses copic markers to color and color pencils to shade

The first time he use the copic marker, he got really frustrated that the marker stain the other pages lmao

And he never uses digital drawing applications or softwares

Aran just doesn’t

I think I’ll rate him, 8.5/10

Kita

Okay, I know that Kita’s a top student and never fails in anything

But he’s not typically a good drawer that much

His drawing still got good marks but when you look at it, it just looks normal

I just know that the Kita lovers gonna get me after this

It’s not that bad and not that good, just a nice balance in between

I personally think Kita’s not that godly in drawing but rather a neutral drawer

He draw what he can and does shading and coloring when it’s needed

The colors are all basic colors, no pastel, no neon

And the shadings are pretty basic

Just a normal drawer here

Ya’ll gonna fight me for this but I’ll give Kita’s point,

Happy Birthday for Ningguang

In this special day of Ningguang's bday, I'm making this appreciation post and talk a bit about her.

a/n : ik that this is late but I still want to post this BECAUSE I LOVE NINGGUANG AND NONE CAN STOP ME

Ningguang is...

Ngl my first impression towards her is that she feels like evil sly fox that can betray you any moment but this is very wrong.

Ningguang is just a really smart person that knows what she's doing

To understand her better we need to look back on her life story before she became the Ningguang we know today.

Ningguang didn't come from rich or influential family, in fact she came from poor background. Every bits of mora that she earned is from her own hard work.

"Despite the multitude of affairs she deals with in a day, Ningguang always continues to press on. A rare gem indeed. I'm reminded of the time that she used to walk barefoot from Yaoguang Shoal to the south wharf, trying to sell her wares as she went. Time is cruel to humans."

With such background, Ningguang's life was not easy. Ningguang's mind is trained to work harder and smarter than everyone else in order to get out of poverty.

She wished to get out of poverty and become wealthy.

This is Ningguang's dream and ambition.

In a business world, one must understand what card their opponent is holding and what kind of strategy to hit checkmate on them all, this is exactly what Ningguang been doing all these times. She's very observant and quick to act on the informations that she gained. With every win from her strike, she gains more and more power and wealthiness. With more of those, she becomes more influential than ever before which is a very good investment for more power.

Ningguang understand the basic of investment very well. That includes her investment on Liyue.

Many people have encountered her in many different ways and everyone described her differently from one another. This proves that Ningguang understand how to give different impressions on different types of people that she met (that's one mad skill over there). Knowing how to present yourself is one of strategy to gain a win in any game, and combined with knowing what your opponent is doing? That's literally checkmate. Ningguang should play business game with Diluc someday lmao. With such ability to understand other people minds and deed, she's also become trained for sharp observation to trust someone, so don't be offended when she doesn't trust people easily because she knows this very well.

Being rich is nice and good but that doesn't change Ningguang's true self. Her dream and ambition are merely to gain as much as she can from her hardwork, never to become someone new. People can slander her for whatever she has done in this world, but that is just her smart work, not who she really is

Ningguang is only doing what she likes but never prioritize herself over another. She understands how to give balance for everything between herself and other people. How to gain as much benefit and agreement but with balanced deal. She never made rash decisions, she always think of them thoroughly, and never based of momentary sentiments.

That's why her constellation is called 'The Balance' :3

She become Tianquan of Qixing not just for her business benefits but also because she wants to bring balance in Liyue.

Did you know? Liyue was used to be filled with sneaky merchants that fraud each other and even trample over other people / common folk. Ningguang was one of the common folk before and ofc she knew that such fraudness is wrong. This could also be the reason why she's working to the top just to change this.

Ever since Ningguang become the Tianquan of Qixing, many regulations over Liyue business and contracts, etc. are changed to scale balance over everyone. That is one super skill of a human there. Even when she already made balanced rule over everyone, some people still break them anyways (like Beidou).

Next thing is about her Jade Chamber. We know that Jade Chamber is built by her own wealth and it's become her home and office site as the Tianquan. But we know that she's willing to sacrifice Jade Chamber when that Vortex god attacked. She did not regret any of this, which proofs that she's not full of herself, she truly cares for Liyue and willing to give her all for the safety of Liyue.

For someone who came from poverty and gained all the wealth people tend to be blinded by all of that but not for Ningguang. She knows how to be humble and down to earth, because she knows that everything that's gained can be lost, and-

That is how investment in life works. Sometimes you gain but sometimes you lose, it's normal. Ningguang knows how to start all over again when she loses everything that she gained. Very strong mental indeed.

Altho idk if she's even alright without emotional support, I wish I can be her emotional support tho-

Ningguang is a great woman if you can see all of these things she'd done.
