Started replaying Celeste yesterday and I just beat it today. I think I'm better at it now, probably partially thanks to Ultrakill giving me practiced with fast-paced action

#asks #got it from some charity bundle on itch.io #it's a good game! but i think precision platformers maybe aren't for me #the harder challenges basically boil down to “press these specific buttons with this exact timing or else you die”#the one b-side i've attempted felt especially like that #i beat it but it was pretty frustrating #just trying the same thing over and over and dying over and over #knowing exactly what i'm supposed to do and how i'm supposed to do it but just not doing it quite right #but that was at the start of my playthrough so maybe i'll try the others now that i have more skill #i'll definitely try the core and i just read that 2b is the easiest b-side so i'll try that #probably not going to do farewell because apparently it's about as hard as a c-side #but anyway i think i prefer my games more open with how they can be played #i dropped Verlet Swing for that reason; the late-game levels are just “do this exact sequence of inputs with this timing”#and the fact that those inputs are difficult makes it frustrating enough to ruin the last of my fun #it's like a rhythm game without the music sync. a really hard rhythm game #i'll lean toward more open-ended games like ultrakill #although maybe i might like a rhythm-game precision-platformer. that probably definitely exists somewhere

sometimes the worst thing about a toxic fictional romance is that it's not even written well

#i watched [redacted] and truly. SO many obvious important emotional beats or character confrontations were just missing #that it left me unsure where the main characters even stand on each other at times!!! which is the worst crime!!!#sure it's Problematic Content but maybe the real problematic content....... was the bored annoyance it made me feel along the way #actually no maybe i've passed bored and i'm frustrated. this thing had all the basic ingredients to be consistently compelling #and even trashy tv deserves better!!! for the sake of everyone involved i wish this were Good trash beyond just looking pretty #*#anyway. not naming names because i Do need to vent but i don't want to publically rag on the thing. i hope its fans have a good day

Quite possibly the funniest arena team i built to date. Critfest 2k24. Literally the only problem I had was hitting myself when the consumed guys statused mine

#lorwolf #lw arena #honestly this only cements the sheer imbalance with the companions imo #i talked about the kickstarter krane being auto-win before #you get one at the start of the game and you're set #but the boss and event shop companions are pretty broken too #some because of synergies (vortexcanis are crazy great for holiday boss grinding. all you need is a kit/dw and 2 jc and you're good)#and some due to stats and abilities (again w vortexcanis: high hp + coordinate is insane alongside a joc and a brac. immortal stun guns)#and the thing with the arena is that the comp card pool doesn't discriminate #i got spammed a bunch of kapros this time (i managed to 3-star that last one)#once I got like 5 guys w syphoning scratch one of which was a Krane. WHO would beat that.#it's exactly why pvp arena is so frustrating #sometimes you get golden teams. sometimes you get nothing but duds. and no amount of strategizing helps you against kranes

Just played elden ring for like 5 hours straight, I think I may be getting into it. Maybe. Just a little.

#i was so frustrated but turns out being under leveled actually does make really tough bosses even harder #i almost beat the first real boss like 5 levels under the lowest recommended tho and my bf said it was pretty impressive #finally beating him didnt even feel that great tbh because i had leveled up and at that point the boss felt almost easy compared to #what i was dealing with with him earlier #elden ring

Decided I was getting a little tired of the repetition in Hades game so I am mixing things up by switching weapons (have exclusively used the bow since very early), doubly so because I finally figured out that you get the level boss rewards for every time you win with a different weapon, so I will be collecting titan blood and diamonds for a bit

#and trying to fulfill the weapon prophecies in the meantime. might as well #earlier I just wanted to move the game forward and knew trying to learn new weapons would just frustrate me #now that I've gotten pretty far and also started to get the hang of things I can drop back a bit and collect shit #in order to prepare for beating Angry Dad #hades game

Being angry at someone and carrying all that anger and frustration with you every day and that person not even knowing because they never registered what they did or said to you as wrong or impactful and not getting why you're the way that you are with them is the worst

So like

For the past...idk 5 years? Maybe 6? However long stardew Valley has been out? I've had friends trying to get me to play it. One going so far as to say "oh its the perfect game for you!! You'll love it!!!"

But I kept not getting it cuz my autism makes me vehemently refuse to do anything a bunch of people are telling me to do

But also what I'd seen of it just didn't really appeal to me? Like dont get me wrong, I do like games where I can just do menial tasks and collect things. But...idk the concept just didn't really speak to me.

But then I did play animal crossing new horizons. Which also wasn't something I expected to enjoy

And then julien solomita has been doing a series of aries kitchen videos where he makes recipes from the stardew Valley cookbook

So I finally caved and got it

I played it for 10 minutes and got bored

Its so boring

Im gonna try a little longer to try and give it more of a chance but

Idk

I had to stop and switch over to zelda

I really wanted to enjoy it

But its so boring

#i think part of the problem too is that the controls for it on the switch just....dont feel super intuitive to me?#so im gonna poke around in the settings and see if i can make them less frustrating #but idk if thatll help the boredom #also the style is a little too reminiscent of pokemon #which i also didnt enoy playing that much #i forget which pokemon game i have for ds #but im pretty sure i never beat it #it was at least more interesting in terms of things happening #idk why animal crossing was more enjoyable #but its still not a game i would say is my favorite #and it still got boring after awhile #it just took 400 hours for that to happen #and i havent played it in like 2 years

So my takeaway from this first Tectonic stream is that at least this first area (up to the first gym) is a lot more manageable when you already know what you're going to be dealing with, but I also found a Pokemon with Spikes available just before the gym in the form of Ferroseed, so I can also say conclusively that arena hazards really don't actually solve the AI's love of playing Swap Tag. So now I'm off to rip out its ability to switch out at all again!

If I was more of a fanfic writer I would totally write like 50 oni timeloop ai fics and Id have to fight myself so hard to not make Olivia a significant part of all of them. Just like yeah Quinn timeloop au. They and Olivia regular at the same bar actually. Don't worry abt it.

i haven't been able to get much done over the past couple days because i've been too tired, and i've been too tired because i've been staying up too late, because i am a fool. i am in a hell of my own making. what else is new

#ray speaks #just a little bit frustrated with myself lol 👍#im also holding myself to a higher standard than usual tbh #yesterday i worked and washed a lot of dishes and took a shower and installed a new cpu cooler in my pc and went for a walk #that's pretty damn good!! yet im beating myself up because i need to go shopping for hiking shoes before my upcoming trip --#-- and i havent been able to drag myself out to a store to get that done.#i also wanna go out and buy a few food items but uuuugh i just dont wanna go shopping.#too tired to leave the house for anything more than a lil walk around the neighbourhood #and there are also a few more things i gotta do around the apartment and i dont wanna do those either #long story short: i have too many things to do and i don't have the energy to do them all because i havent been sleeping enough #and it's my own damn fault :/

played some more mother 1 i died to the magicant dragon like seven times in a row . awesome

#last attempt ana died turn one i just gave up after that #i dont want her to lose out on the exp… plus shes rhe only one w superhealing in case someone else goes down #ive heard it can get oneshot if u just use a superbomb but part of me wants to actually beat it #idk #seems pretty impossible at the level im at rn tbh i might just give up and do that #i got lifeup beta on ninten before one of the attempts on rhe way to the dungeon thingy but i reset the game after i died cuz i didnt #wanna lose the money i had on me and i still havent been able to learn it again -_- really annoying but also it hasnt been too necessary #since i gave evrryone h2o pendants and started setting up psi shields turn one #honestly the biggest issue is the physical damage (its pretty much guaranteed to oneshot ana even with boosted defense)#only way to combat that is just grinding i think which i dont really wanna do since the best place #just based on the general feel of enemies so far for me to do that would be the desert #i dont think you can teleport there and im kinda sick of walking all the way there #right after i got the cactus melody i wanted to use the ocarina to play what i had so far but i accidentally used the onyx hook #and i still had to do the whole monkey cave thing so i had to walk all the way back 😭#oh my god im realizing how whiny this sounds its like. im not as frustrated as ive seen some ppl get w this game but understand this is lik #the most time-wasting game in the world. walking anywhere takes forever cuz of the horrible encounter rate and shitty map design #genuinely i dont mind as much of this games jank as i probably should but the backtracking is insane #especially when you actually take advantage of the onyx hook. at least i have teleportation now stuff will #probably be a lot more streamlined from now on #inquisitivewaltz.txt
