Spencer waits for Morgan to get up for a coffee before he gets up himself, tailing his teasing teammate to the microwave. He's hoping Morgan's in a sympathetic mood today, because Spencer is in dire need of some sympathy.Â
"Loverboy," Morgan says, his voice steeped in suspicion. "Can I help you with something?"
"Do you know why Y/N's upset?"Â
"You don't? You're the expert."Â
Spencer rubs at his nose, the beginning of another migraine brewing between his eyes. The gesture draws a little more empathy than his misguided question.Â
"You're gonna have to ask her yourself. I don't want her angry at me too, she's gonna fix my computer before Garcia finds out I fell for her phishing email test."Â
"I've been asking her. It's making it worse. She won't answer my questions anymore. She just hums."Â
"Silent treatment. Yikes." Morgan sips his tea through a grimace. "I mean, you must've done something bad. She's usually soâ"Â
"Lovely?"Â
"âin love with you." Morgan laughs as he wanders off in the direction of the stairs up to Hotch's office. "Same thing."
Spencer decides to make a cup of bribery tea for you. He microwaves a mug of hot water and plunks a bag of your favourite blend in without ceremony, bobbing it up and down as he watches you from over his shoulder. You've moved desks upon request to sit with the rest of the team and opposite Spencer (against Hotch's self-proclaimed better judgement), your things set carefully in contrast to his books, a library's worth teeming on every spare inch. Some have even made their way onto your desk, pristinely stacked in wait of his perusal. It's one small gesture among the hundreds of kind things you do for him.Â
"Here," he says, setting the mug down next to your mouse carefully.Â
Your anger strikes him. Eyes frosted with an uneasiness he's not partial to, lips, so perfectly painted, screwed into a frown. It's not nice seeing someone he cares about upset with him, worse when he has no idea what it is he's done.Â
"You're annoyed at me," he says. You wait for him to continue. "I don't know what I did."Â
"That makes it worse." You frown at him. After a few seconds of thisâyour frowning, his looking sorry and confusedâ you sigh wretchedly (as in, he's never heard you sound that sad, ever, and he hates it). "Spencer, you stood me up."Â
Everything in him goes cold. "No I didn't."Â
Your sad frown melds again to anger. "Yes you did! Iâ I got my hair done at a salon, I bought a new dress, I bragged to all of my friends that my cute coworker was gonna be my date, and none of that mattered because you didn't text me back so I was worried sick all night that you were," âyour voice drops to a private whisperâ "in trouble somewhere, and then you come into work like nothing happened? Not even a hint of an apology? I thought you wanted to come."Â Â
Your voice burns with embarrassment. Spencer can feel it in his throat, that plucky ache of someone letting you down.Â
"That was last night?" he asks quietly. A friend asked you to their charity ball, not as ridiculously fancy as it sounds but an occasion of esteem and important to you nonetheless. "Y/N, I thought that wasâ I have it in my phone as next month. As November. I'm so sorry."Â
"Why didn't you answer my texts?"Â
He winces. "I had a migraine⊠Screens make it worse, and I haven't charged the battery yet because I was coming to work anyways I'm sorry, Y/N, really. I mixed it up. I should've asked you."Â
You seem less disheartened at his admission. You cross your arms over your abdomen and lean back a touch in your chair, as if deciding whether he's being truthful. Spencer isn't in the habit of lying to you and anybody could tell you that, so after a few seconds you look away. "I asked you if you were excited yesterday morning. I told you my dress came."Â Â
"I know." He can't believe he's gotten it wrong like this. Anyone can make a mistake, but he imagines you in your new dress with your hair done waiting for him in the cold weather that descended on Virginia last night and his guts twist into a knot. "I didn't piece it together. I didn't⊠I didn'tâŠ"Â
Spencer can't remember the last time he let someone he loves down like this. His migraine spikes again like a needle in the eye, fiery agony that has him closing his eyes to cope.Â
"Spencer," you say, softly admonishing. "Hey, it's okay." Your chair creaks.
"I'm so sorry," he says through his teeth.Â
"I thought you were being a jerk, but I guess I should've known you wouldn't do something like that." You stand up and take his elbow into a very gentle hand. "I'm sorry for giving you the cold shoulder. It was childish. I was just hurt thinking you did it on purpose."Â
"Sorry," he says again. "Migraine."Â
Your hand rises to his cheek. "Yeah? Sit down, Spence. Take a breather."Â
The doctors say that Spencer's migraines are psychosomatic. He doesn't get how something so odious can start from nothing.Â
You seem twice as upset but in a different light, ushering him down into your chair. "Don't worry," you say softly, your hand falling into his hair, "I took a great picture. You can still see me in my nice dress."Â
You're kidding but he's genuinely glad. Then the pain takes over and he can't see the other side of it for years.Â
It only feels like years.Â
When he can open his eyes, you've knelt by his chair. He hates to see you getting your pants dirty like that, hates worse that your eyebrows have pinched and the soft plane of your forehead has etched deep with concern.Â
"You can still be mad at me," he says under his breath.Â
"I'm a little upset," you confess, putting an uncharacteristically tentative hand on his knee. "It sucked, but not as much as this seems to suck for you." You're like an angel, all pretty and wide-eyed at his feet, your hand beginning a short path up his leg, a soft back and forth. "I'm sorry Spencer. I was punishing you for something that wasn't your fault."Â
"You didn't know. How could you, Iâ" He winces as another wave of pain flares behind his eye, blurring your small smile. "I should've charged my phone."Â
"Maybe. I can't imagine you had the capacity, Spence. Not if you're like this."Â
"Don't just forgive me because I'm in pain."Â
"I'm not, I'm forgiving you because even though it really hurt my feelings turning up alone, I'm not cruel enough to blame you now." You squeeze his knee. It's an instant balm, the chronic ache behind his eyes easing ever so slightly. Your forgiveness makes the rest bearable. "Can you forgive me for being so heartless?" you ask lightly.Â
Your lips curve demurely around each word. Spencer scrambles to cover your hand with both of his, his neck craned forward. "Of course I forgive you."Â
"Thank you." Spencer could collapse. "Drink some of this tea, okay? Maybe drinking something will help."Â Â
Nothing ever helps, but he does it because it's your hands bringing the cup to his lips.Â
"I know you looked beautiful," he says between sips.Â
"I would've looked better on your arm. Too bad you're getting grievously attacked by your own brain. This is what happens when it gets too big, babe, it's trying to come out of your ears." He's a little sorry to have won you back this way, but mostly so, so relieved. "Anymore of this'll and you'll start messing up the months. Oh, wait!" You laugh as he laughs but soon scramble to apologise when the sound makes his head hurt. "Sorry, I'm sorry! Drink some more tea, sweetheart."Â

"SO, HOW DO I LOOK?"
She spun in front of the mirror, showing off the dress she had picked out that afternoon on an impromptu shopping spree. The garment had looked stunning on the store mannequin, and now, in the soft glow of her bedroom, it was more appealing.
The spaghetti straps delicately framed her shoulders, and the lavender fabric accentuated her curves. The bottom of the dress, hovering just below her knees, gave a playful vibe with a teasing slit inching up her right thigh. And the neckline, with its very low plunge, offered a glimpse of her cleavage she couldn't help but wonder whether it was showing too much skin.
"Like you want to get laid," a playful voice called.
Her laughter echoed through the room as she turned to face her phone and realized the dress was hugging her ass quite snugly. "It's too much, isn't it?"
"Not at all," Sandy's voice echoed through the phone again. She glanced at the screen, seeing her friend's smiling face. "You look gorgeous."
She grinned, the reassurance from Sandy making her feel more at ease. "You think so?"
"Absolutely."
She reached for a sparkling necklace and dangling earrings, holding them to the camera. "Necklace or earrings?"
"Hmm." Sandy squinted at the screen, studying the options through the video call. "Go with the earrings. They'll add a touch of glamour without stealing the spotlight from the dress."
She nodded in agreement. "Earrings it is, then."
As she carefully slipped herself into the accessories, Sandy couldn't help but muse her thoughts. "I don't think I've ever seen you wear purple."
She cleared her throat awkwardly. "What do you mean? I've worn this color before."
"Your wardrobe either consists of black or gray. You had to go out shopping to buy this dress."
She laughed nervously, caught in the act of her predictable wardrobe choices. "Alright, fine." She pursed her lips together before letting out a sigh. "I may or may not have asked his friend what his favorite color is."
"You sly fox," Sandy laughed with a huge grin. "So you do want to get laid."
She blushed, adjusting the earrings. "I mean, if the occasion arises..."
"You've got this all planned out, huh?"
"Well, not exactly, more like... strategically considered?" She tilted her head and observed herself in the mirror again. "Does it make me look desperate?"
"Of course not," Sandy reassured. "It just shows you're putting in effort. Besides, confidence is attractive. You look hot."
She blushed at the compliment, but before she could respond, the distant hum of an engine reached her ears. Her eyes widened, and instinctively, she moved towards the window and noticed a car pulling into her driveway. It wasn't the usual sleek, black government vehicle; instead, the car looked like it had seen better days, although it held a vintage charm that caught her by surprise.
Then reality finally kicked inâhe was here for a date, not because of his job. They were actually going out for a nice dinner he had prepared.
She suddenly felt sick.
"Sandy, he's here," she whispered, her voice betraying a touch of panic.
Somehow Sandy still managed to hear her voice from across the room. "You'll be fine! It's not like you haven't spent time with him before."
"Not when my life wasn't on the line." She was met with silence and walked over to her phone, picking it up to find Sandy's disapproving glare. She sheepishly smiled towards the screen. "Too soon?"
Sandy shook her head with a sigh. "Only you would joke about your near-death experience."
"Spencer told me it's a coping mechanism."
"You've joked about it to him as well?"
She nodded. "He's not a fan either." The sound of the doorbell ringing brought her back to the present. "I need to go."
"Wait!" Sandy's urgent voice echoed through the phone again. She watched as her friend's expression softened. "How are you feeling today?"
A warm smile graced her lips, moved by Sandy's ongoing concern. Ever since they reunited at the hospital, Sandy couldn't stop apologizing for what had happened, even when it wasn't her fault to begin with. Her friend consistently checked in on her well-being.
"I'm actually feeling pretty good. Nervous, but good."
Sandy nodded, her smile carrying reassurance. "Good. Now, go enjoy your date."
She reciprocated the sentiment with a blow of a kiss towards the camera. "I'll call you later," she promised before ending the call. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself, slipping her phone into her purse as she descended the stairs.
Spencer was waiting at the door when she opened it, all cleaned up and undeniably handsome. His well-fitted suit accentuated his strong shoulders, and the crisp white shirt beneath complemented the subtle purple tie he wore. "I never pictured you as someone who owned a car," she commented, her tone teasing but filled with curiosity.

She laughed, finding his revelation endearing. "Well, I'm impressed. It suits you." Her eyes scanned the vintage-looking car. "It reminds me of you actually."

She shook her head, smiling. "No, not at all. I meant classic, with a certain charm."
His smile widened at her response. "I'll take that as a compliment."

It wasn't really a surprise. Spencer had already mentioned wanting to visit this place and the big sign saying 'PLANETARIUM'Â at the entrance was already a dead giveaway.
However, the unusual quietness that enveloped the space caught her off guard. With only a handful of staff present, the vastness of the empty lobby echoed the click of her heels.
The atmosphere shifted when he gently urged her to close her eyes. Suspicion mixed with curiosity, she couldn't resist teasing him as she followed his instructions. "What do you not want me to see? I already know where we are."
A secure arm wrapped around her waist as Spencer guided her through the darkness. She could sense a grin in his voice as he replied, "Sure, but the location isn't exactly the surprise."
"What is then?" She asked. The echo of their footsteps persisted, creating a rhythm in the quiet space of the planetarium.
"The experience," he simply answered. "Keep your eyes closed a bit longer, we're almost there."
"This is kind of making me nervous," she admitted. "You're not going to kidnap and murder me secretly, are you?"
His steps faltered briefly before she let out a sigh, urging him to continue moving. "Sorry, that sounded way better in my head."
There was a heavy silence before he replied, "We should do something about you joking on that matter."
"It's called dark humor."
He softly hummed. "There's actually a psychological explanation for dark humor as a coping mechanism. It's a way for people to navigate and make light of challenging situations."
"You've mentioned this before."
"I know," he confirmed. "I just want to remind you that every time you think you're being morbidly funny you're using a well-established psychological defense mechanism."
"And what do I have to do with that information?"
"Well, for starters, you can appreciate your brain's attempt to keep things light." He gently squeezed her hip. "But maybe try to cut yourself some slack for the occasional dark joke."
She couldn't help but smile, even with her eyes still closed. The subtle squeeze on her hip added a reassuring warmth to his words. "I still don't get why your boss wants me to see the therapist you guys provided when I already have you."
Spencer chuckled and pulled her closer. "Because one, I'm not a licensed therapist. And two, my therapeutic techniques might involve a bit too much intimacy for the average counseling session."
She laughed. "You mean sex?"
"Sexual intercourse," he corrected, still not wanting to say the word, which she nudged her elbow into his side in response.
As their footsteps finally ceased, Spencer gently urged her to open her eyes. When she complied, her eyes widened in astonishment at the breathtaking sight before herâa vast array of galaxies projected onto the ceiling of the planetarium. The cosmic display painted the dark expanse with hues of celestial beauty, leaving her momentarily awestruck.
Yet, what surprised her even more was the scene at the center of the room. A table setting, elegantly arranged, caught her eye. The table was adorned with flickering candles, casting a soft glow on the carefully arranged dishes and the gleam of polished silverware.
She stood in awe. "Spencer, this is... incredible." Her eyes swept over to him. "You did all this?"
"Well, technically the staff prepared this." He guided her further into the room. "But I pulled some strings."
"Some strings? I think you pulled all the strings." She threw him a grateful smile as he pulled her chair, urging her to sit down. "This must cost a fortune."
"Don't worry about that," he assured her, settling in the seat opposite her. "I just want you to enjoy the night."
As she took her seat, the soft glow of candlelight accentuated the contours of his face. She felt a flutter in her chest, realizing she was falling even harder for him. It wasn't just the fancy setup; it was the thought behind it that got to her.

"The North Star?" She repeated.
"It's a crucial navigational star. Sailors and travelers have used it for centuries to find their way. It remains relatively fixed in the northern sky, making it a reliable reference point."
"Hmm," she hummed. She then pointed to another set of stars. "What about that one?"
He followed her gaze and smiled.
"That's the Orion constellation," he said. "It's one of the most recognizable and has a lot of myths around it. In some cultures, it's a hunter chasing various prey across the sky."
"And what's the story behind that?"
He leaned in closer to her. "Well, in Greek mythology, Orion was a mighty hunter who fell in love with the Pleiades. However, fate had different plans, and he ended up among the stars, forever pursuing them."
Her gaze remained fixed on the celestial display, captivated by the tales woven into the stars. "So, he's like a romantic?"
Spencer chuckled. "In a way, yes. Myths often carry themes of love, tragedy, and destiny."
"Like human nature."
He nodded in agreement. "Like human nature."
There was a moment of silence before she turned to him. "How do you even know all of this?"
"We often travel outside the city and the skies are pretty clear in remote areas. Sometimes you can see a few constellations."
She raised an eyebrow. "You're telling me you're a secret astronomy enthusiast while solving crimes?"
A bashful smile played on his lips. "When I have the time," he admitted. "There's something fascinating about the stars. They offer a sense of perspective."
She smiled. "It's nice to know even a man of logic and facts finds magic in the sky."
His gaze softened. "Magic has its place in the world, even for a man of logic." He suddenly reached out to the back of her ear and retrieved a dollar bill out of thin air. "See? Magic."
She couldn't help but laugh as she took the bill from him and examined it, tracing the edges. "I remember you doing this trick the first time we met."
He leaned back, a contemplative look in his eyes. "It feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?"
"Considering everything that happened since then, yes," she replied. "You know, I never asked why you were at that bar in the first place."
A subtle blush painted on his cheeks. "I was... enjoying a drink." When she gave him a deadpanned look, he raised his eyebrows. "What? Do I not seem like the type to be hanging out alone at a bar?"
"You stood out like a sore thumb." She gave him back the dollar bill. "I remember you barely touching your beer."
Spencer sighed, taking the money and placing it back in his pocket. "I was supposed to hang out with the team, but they ditched me."
She arched an eyebrow. "They ditched you? Why?"
He shrugged. "Apparently something important came up."
"So they left you hanging at a bar?" When he nodded, she tilted her head in mock sympathy. "Well, it certainly worked in my favor."
He watched her, the flickering memory of that night flashing before him. The first time he kissed her, the taste of her lips, the sensation of holding her naked in his arms. Then his eyes raked down her collarbone, pausing slightly at the swell of her breasts before looking back up to meet her gaze.

Hi, I know its been a minute n I don't really like that there is like one or two posts between this n my last 'i'm still alive' post. I'm sorry. I wanted to say thank you to everyone in general, but also the mfs who said some nice ass shit to me. Sorry I said some concernin ass shit n just dipped, that was pretty fucked. I never really had people care like all the people on here, so I ain't too used to havin to be more careful with the shit I do n say.
Thank you to everyone for the kind words, concern, n care. Comin back to see all of it made my fuckin heart melt. I know I'm just some dumbass postin south park shit on tumblr, but you guys are genuinely the most amazin mfs I've ever encountered. To the people who were in my inbox askin if I was still alive, I sincerely apologize for causin any stress or concern, it's not my intention. You guys are the sweetest people, and I'm sorry for doin that. I should prolly stop bein as vocal about bein so fucked, but I also like to be honest n I like sharin this shit bcuz I know mfs be goin through the same shit n bein alone in it feels fuckin awful majority of the time.
I am not well. I am doin very bad actually. There's a chance imma be forcefully medicated in the near future. Which is weird bcuz I used to always want that, I wanted to be fixed, but now I'm not sure for like a TON of reasons. One, ion wanna be changed (in a sense). If the meds take away or dull core aspects of myself, I will lose it further than I have already. Two, my parents raised me to never trust doctors or medicine, etc. Even though I do think modern medicine is a great thing, I still have my fears bcuz of how I was raised. Three, I fear the fuck outta what I will do. I know they warn that adjustment periods n shit like that can make things worse- but I literally cannot get any worse. If I do, I know I will not come out alive. Which bleeds into reason four, which is that I know, at some point, I would try n overdose. Handin me such a quick n thoughtless way to just end it is like the worst fuckin thing they could do. But whatever. Ion even know when it's gonna happen, all I know is that ion got a choice. Like, I'm pretty sure it's a situation that, if I don't comply, imma be locked tf up.
Uhh minor update shit- my cat came back home after almost a month of bein fuckin somewhere. She came back skinny, dirty, n sick, but she is slowly recoverin n I've never been more thankful. ED is still kickin my ass, but I'm forcin myself to at least have a fuckin soup I made bcuz I can't get shit done at work if I keep faintin or gettin injured. I have little to no time to do shitfuck, but still do random shit periodically before or after work. I actually redid my dresser n made some stupid ass video about the handles that I might post to youtube if I quit bein a pussy about it.
I haven't been drawin my fanart as of late- but I do want to. Imma focus on doin the requests I have bcuz I wanna give back the best I can. You guys stick with me through thick n thin. I thank you all so much. I'm sorry I'm always MIA. So my posts for a little bit are gonna be the requests n answerin all of my inbox. Ion know how long it'll take, but hopefully it won't get borin. Unwritten [Aemond Targaryen x reader]
A/n: Hi everyone! I haven't written in SUCH a long time, I've been so busy with uni lately, and my writing is SO rusty. House of the Dragon brought me back to writing, since it's so good, and I'm quite literally obsessed with ALL the men & women there.
Apologies for any mistakes, it's late at night and english isn't my first language.
Requests are OPEN for most of the House of the Dragon characters.
Summary: Reader finds letters that reveal the truth behind her marriage to Aemond. He proves to her what their marriage actually means.
Nodding at the guards standing outside Aemond's study, I entered, expecting him to be sitting at his desk.
As soon as I stepped foot in the room, I was enveloped by the light that entered through the open window, and I understood why he enjoyed spending his time in here. It wasn't often that I came in this room, but I missed him more than usual. I let go of the surprise that he was nowhere to be seen, assuming he was going to come back soon.
The light breeze coming in from the window rustled papers on his desk, an action which distracted me from his absence. Wanting nothing more than to put them back, I made my way to the desk. My gaze dropped to them as I reached for what looked like letters.
My eyebrows furrowed as I noticed my house crest on them, the first thing I looked for was the date. These had been before I got married to Aemond. My heart squeezed in anticipation, as my eyes quickly scanned them over. My older brother, the one I thought to be so caring, practically signed me over to Aemond, in order to "ensure our family's safety".
I closed my eyes for a few seconds, trying to slow down my racing thoughts -- this wasn't a moment where I could let my emotions take over.
Scenes from before my wedding appeared in my mind, my mother telling me how in love Aemond must've been with me, since he requested my hand in marriage. All lies, I had been lied to for the past two years. My family betrayed me, filling my mind with lies, so I wouldn't be opposed to marrying him. My husband, the thought made me feel sick to my stomach, filled me with even more lies, all the times he said affectionate words to me, every time he told me he loved me -- none of them were true.
I had been told that Prince Aemond took a liking to me when he saw me a while back, during one of the formal gatherings at court. It was all fabricated by my mother and brother, who were desperate to win over the trust of the Greens. I had honestly been quite shocked at the news that the Prince wished for my hand in marriage, not believing my family's words. He repeated over and over that I had won over his heart in the mere moments we danced together until I actually believed them.
Dropping the letters back on the desk, I didn't care if they were organized or not, I had already made a plan. I will return to the bedroom I shared with Aemond, take some gold, enough to buy me a place on a ship, and run away - it wouldn't matter where, for now.
Before I could leave, the door to his study opened. "My wife, I missed you," Aemond's voice filled the room.
Turning towards him, I couldn't bring myself to smile back, so I just waited for him to reach me. One of his arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me towards him, the other pushing a few strands of hair out of my face, a soft smile resting on his lips. I fought to not lean in to his touch, as I normally would. I had to remind myself of the letters I found, having to tell myself he didn't actually care for me-- it was just an act, a marriage of convenience, apparently. The dark thoughts made their way onto my face, as a shadow of worry appeared on my husband's face.
"What's wrong, my heart?" I tried not to scoff at the words he used. The hand that was resting on my face moved to straighten the furrow of my eyebrows.
"I found out I had been lied to." I tried my best to keep my tone even, pushing him away and grabbing the letters. "All the people I care about betrayed me. My family. My husband."
It was his turn to frown now, his eyes falling to the letters. "How have I betrayed you, my love?"
"Stop- Please, stop saying words like these if you don't mean them." I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the pain in his beautiful ones. I continued speaking, not caring that he wanted to say something. "My family told me you wanted to marry me. Not that they convinced you to take my hand. They sold me to you." My voice broke, so I stopped talking, choosing to control my breathing.
"Look at me." I kept my eyes focused on the wall behind him. "Please." He raised his hand, placing it under my chin and moving my face towards his. As soon as our eyes met, tears escaped. "Don't cry, my heart. Let me explain myself. It is true, your family came with the offer."
I scoffed, shaking my head sadly, but I let him continue.
"If I wouldn't have wanted to marry you, I could have easily denied them at any moment. Do you remember when we shared a dance years ago?" I nodded. "That was the moment I decided I would marry you. No matter the circumstances. It just happened that your family reached out first."
He lowered his head slowly towards mine, giving me enough time to push him away if I wanted to, but I didn't. "I love you," he whispered as he closed the distance between us, his lips lovingly kissing mine, then moving from my lips to my cheek, then my other cheek. My nose was next, then he kissed the tears that reached my jaw, from there going to my neck.
"I guess some parts were left unwritten."
Applying more pressure to the sensitive spot he knew on my neck, I moaned lightly, making him chuckle.
"Let me bring you to our bedroom, so I can show you just how much I love you." He picked me up, holding me closely. "You won't ever have to question my love for you."

I was given oral herpes by someone who didn't feel the need to disclose that they got cold sores before we had a one-time little dalliance.
I might've gone for it anyways. I'm self destructive. But I guess the lack of being able to choose whether to take the risk, it's left me feeling pretty bitter about the experience.
And I'm left feeling like a biohazard. I haven't really been able to explain to my friends yet why I'm suddenly extremely cagey about sharing my drinks and food. And all my favorite sexual activities are off the table forever. I know, dental dams, condoms, but half the fun of oral sex and making out is, you know, the taste, the heat, the absolute control. I was good at it.
It feels especially embarrassing since I'm ace and the whole reason I hooked up with the person was kind of... I don't know, fear that if I didn't, then we wouldn't be able to hang out anymore.
I'm not sure what I'm asking. Maybe, was it wrong for them not to disclose something like that? Considering how common it is? I feel obligated to disclose myself but maybe I'm just weird for that.

having said that: you are not a biohazard. you're a person with an incredibly common virus. the World Health Organization estimates that somewhere around 80% of people worldwide have herpes (and that's a rough estimate, since they use different age ranges for HSV-1 and HSV-2). skip to the factual part of this tiktok at 00:10 seconds. herpes has been with us since before we were human; there's nothing disgusting or even unusual about having herpes.
herpes is different from most STIs in that it is lifelong, but that doesn't make you an unfuckable pariah. it makes you someone who may sometimes have open sores, and should give partners a heads up about your virus to avoid putting anyone in the same situation you're in. while you're at it, let them know that most people with herpes live asymptomatic and uncomplicated lives. many people never even know they have it!
I understand that spending the rest of your life with a viral buddy doesn't sound super fun right now, but I promise that as viruses go you can do WAY worse.
personally I've always felt the best way to get comfortable with something is to learn more about it. why not let clinical sexologist Dr. Doe talk to you about her own herpes, and how to be conscientious about minimizing the risk of sharing herpes with others?

i haven't really been engaging in discourse because i've been sick but i do have a few things to say now that some dust has settled and im not sleeping 16 hours a day.
the phandom is not a radical space. i dont think it ever will be. thats not saying we cant fight for fair treatment and community care within it, but as long as it is orbiting around two privileged white men it will not be a radical space. the only thing radical about this space and the only real tool we have in our toolkit is how we treat each other.
its disgraceful seeing that there are phannies out there throwing out racial slurs in inboxes. its disgraceful seeing us fracture over what is honestly kindergarten shit.
like rudy said, we need to remember that dan and phil are just some white guys from england. and honestly their biggest crime probably is not knowing many if any poc. theyre privileged people who unfortunately as time goes on and their wealth increases and they stabilize, they will share less and less in common with their fans. theyre going to become more unreachable than they currently are no matter how down-to-earth they remain.
so forget dan and phil. sure, theyve done shitty things in the past and will continue to do so. but insofar as we are fans of them, no matter how much they tell us that they listen to us and care for us, we will never have their ear to change in the ways that we want them to. and honestly? years after the fact apologies done out of fear of a hit to their reputation is not an effective means of repairing anything. it is a bandaid over a deeper problem we need to admit we do not have the means or the leverage to fix (at least while maintaining a space recognizable to us). not to say we can and should not hold dan and phil accountable, but we need to be realistic about what is really important to us. is it celebrities doing and saying the right things or is it us taking it upon ourselves to be better people?
so how are we going to hold people accountable for the things they do in the moment? how are we gonna call people in? how are we going to turn to the people on our dash and at our live shows and treat them? how are we going to log off and show up in our communities?
there is a conversation to be had here about fan culture and how it can/cannot coexist with the idolization of white figures, but that's a different post.
the phandom is not a radical space, but we can be radical people within it. rich white men will always disappoint you, so how can you show up for the people actually accessible to you? and really in the end if it comes down to it, do you have the capability to walk away?

I just registered for my spring classes, and I've been working on part 6 of Lost in your Love, but since it's not complete yet here's a little wip I've been working on, this isn't meant to be another series especially since I haven't finished the other one, I want to make this story longer but I wanted to see your opinions on this! Summary: You are the daughter of the feared radio demon, Alastor. What happens when he returns from his seven-year absence and takes you to go work at a hotel ran by the Princess of Hell?

Walking through hell was no easy feat especially since The Radio Demon, your father, wasnât by your side. Well, in front of you. He never liked standing near you, almost like your âweaknessâ would rub off on him.
You didnât think you were weak but compared to him you felt rather small.

Nothing.
You were nothing compared to the powerful Radio Demon, but that never really mattered to you.
The last seven years have gone agonizingly slow. You spent most of your time looking for your father but came up with nothing. He wasnât dead, heâs too strong to die.
Sinners had started to go after you. Day after day, loan sharksâŠ..sinners with screwed up dealsâŠâŠ literally all of pride ring. None of them got the best of you but you were tired.
Alastor hardly paid any attention towards you in hell, and in life? Well, he just placed you to the side. A little alibi, nothing more than a card up his sleeve.

He may not have wanted you in the first place, but you wanted to show him that you could truly be his daughter. However, there was a slight problem, you didnât like his tendencies.
He took you to one of his huntingâs one day, you just thought he was hunting venison, but instead of a deer there was a man running with a limp.

 As your father began to load his gun you held his sleeve.
âW-what are you doing?! Arenât you going to help him? He looks hurt.â You said quietly.

The man slips and tries to crawl away as your father makes his way to him. Like a predator approaching its prey.
âSTOP! LEAVE ME ALONE ALASTOR!! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!!â cries the man.
âFilthy, a man with no manners, a man who is simply no man at all.â Alastor raises his gun to the manâs face, âYou are nothing. You should be happy that Iâll be the one ending your life. You held no meaning on this earth. When you make it to hellâŠ. make sure to write back!â A blast is shot through the manâs head.
You donât move as Alastor drops the body down to you. âWhyâŠwhy did you do this?!â Hands covering your eyes.
âThis creature is filled with nothing but filth. Its best if your learned this early on.â Alastor removes your hands that cover your eyes. âCome along now.â He hands you the gun and you hold it.
Theresâs droplets of blood on it. You feel sick.
You hear the sound of the man being dragged by Alastor, the sound of Alastor calling for you to keep up.
Your father, a killer.
You run to catch up to Alastor, âW-what are you going to d-do now?â
âYouâre going to help me bury the bastard.â He points to the shovel leaning on a tree.
Alastor grabs the shovel and places the man close to the tree, and he starts digging a hole, while you just stand there and watch.
Your father burying a body.
After he believes the grave is deep enough, Alastor climbs out of the hole and grabs the man by his arms, âY/n, grab the manâs legs.â He mustâve done this before as he seems so calm.
Placing the gun on the ground you grab the manâs legs, but good god is this man heavy.
âLift with your legs.â
You do as he says, but that doesnât really make that man any less heavy, heâs just dead weight.
The man is finally placed in the grave, his limbs look wonky, you hold a hand to your stomach.
âCover him up now, dear.â Alastor hands you the shovel and you just stare at him.
âWhy?â
âI just did all the heavy work now, donât be spoiled.â You take the shovel from him.
Shoveling dirt into the grave you wonder what the man did to deserve this, why your father killed him with such a twisted smile. Why your father is a killer. The man who taught you your manners, who tied your shoes, who cooked the most delicious meals.
A killer.
âHowâŠhow many have you killed?â you ask in a quiet voice.

âYouâve never been caught?â you ask looking at him as you finished covering the body.
Alastor tucks away the handkerchief in his pocket, âNone have ever lived long enough to say another word.â He says smiling at you.
Goosebumps litter your arms as you take a look down at the ground before you.
He hands you the gun, âNot a bad job my dear, youâll get better over time.â
Over time??
âWhat do you mean âover timeâ? "
Alastor walks into the forest âYouâll be helping me forevermore.â
You hold the gun and shovel tighter. âI donât like this.â
âWhat?â He stands still facing away from you.
âI said I donât like this! I donât want to help you with your âhuntsâ!!â
Alastor just laughs, âWell, my dear you better get used to this,â He turns facing you with a grin, âYou may have not realized it, but you were helping me all along.â
âWhat do you mean? I just found out today that youâre a serial killer!â
Alastor walks towards you, âMy sweet, dear, daughterâŠ. Youâve been my alibiâ
âWhat?â
He puts his hands on your shoulders, âDo you really think Iâve truly been staying at the station writing scripts till eleven pm? You are a fool.â
âH-how could I have known that?!â
âExactly why you are my perfect alibi!â he gives you a wide grin.
âWhat makes you think I wonât go tell the police right now?!â
He continues to smile at you, âI know you wonât, besides you helped me hide the body! Once they find your fingerprints on the weapons, theyâll take you away from me! You wouldnât want that now, wouldnât you?â
No, no you wouldnât want thatâŠ. butâŠ..
âWhy did you bring me out here? Couldnât you have done this all by yourself?â
âCanât a father have some bonding activities with his daughter?â He walks away from you.
You care very deeply for your father but âŠâŠ heâs not a good person.

Sitting in your living room with a book in your hand, you feel as if something is about to happen, but this hell anything can come crashing through the door, nothing really surprises you anymore.
The turn of the knob is what straightens you up. The door. The door is opening. Who would dare open the home of the feared Radio Demon?!
You stand up quickly, quietly walking to the end of the hall.
âMy, my youâve been keeping the place spick and span!â
That voiceâŠ.its coming from the kitchen.
âWhy are you hiding? Come on out now! I can hear your heartbeat dear!â
You step into the kitchen and are met with the face of your father, Alastor.
âOh, good to see you again my dear daughter, it has been a looooong time aha!â He pats your head, âCome along now I have a special project Iâll be working on, and I want you to be there!â He pulls you by the arm, summoning you into the shadows with him, but before the shadows can fully consume you, you pull yourself away from him.
Alastor huffs, âDonât toy with me right now.â
You turn away from him.
âI understand you have questions but all can be answered at a later time, for right now we are going to be working with the princess, wonât that be fun!?!â
You glare at him.
âOhho! Whatâs that now?â He tilts his ears to you, âCat got your tongue?!â He laughs.
Of course, he would make fun of you for not speaking, I mean, how could you?
You have no voice.
Seems like keeping a secret that your father was a serial killer would come back and bite you in the ass in hell.
Yet you still cared for him, he was you father after all.
âCome along child, thereâs much work to be done at her so called âhotelâ ⊠Its quite pathetic really a place for sinners to be redeemed! Ohho! How lonesome it all sounds! Nothing could save the sinners down here!â
Can sinners be redeemed? No, if they made it to hell then surely there must be a reason for it. You could honestly say that Alastor would not be redeemedâŠ. you wouldnât be redeemed either, even if redemption was real.
Sighing you allow Alastor to pull you into the shadows. Once you both are out of the darkness you look up towards the sign labeled âHappy Hotelâ. The name does need some work.
Alastor knocks on the door and just as quickly as it was open it was shutâŠ. then opened again andâŠshut. It was quite funny. It was opened once more but not shutting this time. It was the princess who opened the door and Alastor quickly introduced himself and let himself in with you falling behind.
âOh, hello there! Are you looking to be redeemed???!!!â The princess asks with a look of excitement in her eyes.
You just stare at her for a moment but then shake your head then point to your father.
âHuh?â
âWhoops forgot to introduce her here! Ahaha!â Alastor grabs your shoulders from behind, âThis little one here is my daughter, Y/n, sheâll also be here for your assistance, if you allow for me to help in your little hotel!â
âOh, hello! My nameâs Charlie! Itâs nice to meet you!â She raises her hand.
You shake her hand with a nod.
âJeez, whatâs with you kid? Ainât got no tongue?â asked the spider fellow in the lounge area.
âAhah! Funny! You see my darling daughter here cannot speak! Ahah!â
The spider fellow cringed a bit, but itâs nothing new to you, you find it a bit funny.
âOh! Iâm so sorry!!â says Charlie. âI hope I didnât offend you!â
You shake your head once more, patting her hand, giving her a smile.
âNow that we got you introduced how about we,â He faces Charlie, âmake a deal?â
âNope! No deal!â
As your father and the princess spoke you heard the other two sinners speaking about Alastor.
âYou seriously never heard of him?! Youâve been here longer than me!â says the one with long hair, you believe the princess called her Vaggie.
âNot much into politics.â
Vaggie went on to explain your fatherâs wrath and how he should absolutely not be trusted.
Which was true, you will not deny her that.
âOkay... but what about the kid?â
The conversation turned towards you now
âI actually donât really know about her⊠Hey!â You turn around to face Vaggie, âCan you come here for a second?â You walk over to them.
âYour name is Y/n, right?â asked Vaggie.
You nod.
âIs that strawberry pimp actually your dad?â The spider points at your father.
Again, you nod.
âThat guy definitely doesnât look the like the dad type, you sure he didnât ask for your soul or something?â
In a way he did, but in hell terms no. You shake your head.
âWhatâs he actually planning huh? What does he want with this place?â Vaggie places her hands on your shoulders.
You would also like the answers to those questions, but you just give a shrug instead.
Nifty and Husker are summoned shortly after the small conversation between the princess and your father. And of course, your father has to be dramatic as he goes into song.
However, in the middle of his song the front entrance doors are blasted off heading straight towards Nifty.

On the Mend
Comments: Haru x Reader fic request for @aayakashii, comfort fic about bad experiences w/ love. I usually suck at this, keep your expectations low everyone... (BTW, I think I figured out the cute gif aesthetic for this one, I hope you're proud of me, Aaya (ă^â^)ïŸ )
The sound of the doorbell going off reverberates throughout your room in the cathedral.
You had personally installed it yourself a few weeks prior to make it easier to alert you of guests visiting, considering you generally stayed on the second floor. This was probably the first time you've heard it ring, and you weren't expecting company.Â
You rolled lethargically out from underneath your blanket and pulled on a cozy cardigan that was hanging on the headboard of your bed. It was already around seven in the evening, so you're far from what you would consider to be presentable at the moment. As you make your way down the steps and towards the front door, you do your best to brush down your disheveled hair. Hopefully the visitor wasn't anyone you'd hate to look crusty in front of. Though, there was really only one person that you had to worry about that with and SURELY it isn't him. He rarely has time to leave Jabberwock, after all.
You make it to the front door and swing it open. An all too familiar eccentric captain in an orange jumpsuit is standing right outside your door.Â
Some higher entity had to be playing a prank on you right now.Â
"Heya, (Y/N)! You sure look cozy!"Â
"Haru⊠what are you doing here?" You ask, quirking an eyebrow.Â
"I came to check on you! I know it's late, buuut..." Haru tilts his head, observing you inquisitively. "It's Saturday! You usually come over in the early afternoon."
Your eyes widen. "Saturday...?"Â
You reach into the pocket of your cardigan and pull out your phone to verify his claim.
And sure enough, he was right.Â
It had been a few days since you left the cathedral because you had been recovering from a cold. That and you were in dire need of some personal time. No people, no missions, no Darkwick.Â
Regardless, you most certainly didn't intend to skip out on Haru. You always went out of your way to help him on Saturdays because it was the day that you had the least obligations. The Jabberwock Captain is someone that you consider to be a close friend, so you did your best to alleviate some of his overwhelming workload.Â
"Haru, I'm so, so, sorry!" You apologize with a bow. "I really didn't even notice it was Saturday. My internal clock is out of whack because I haven't been feeling well."
Haru waves his hands placatingly in the air. "No, no! I sent you a text earlier today, but I don't think you saw it, so I was making sure you're as fit as a fiddle!" The Jabberwock Captain pauses and tents his eyebrows, his lips puckering into a pout. "But you're not feeling well?"
"You sent me a text...?"Â
That's right, you did turn off your message notifications for the day.Â
"Mmmhm! Just asking your availability for the day. No worries, though! The farm is in tip-top shape!" Haru assures with a radiant smile.Â
"I'm glad it turned out okay," You hesitate, carefully deliberating over your next words. "...Are you going to be busy anytime soon?"
The Jabberwock Captain shakes his head. "Nope! The kiddo is in bed and I have a baby monitor set up just in case!"
You avert your gaze, doing your utmost to not seem nervous. "Would you like to come inside?"
"Are you kidding? I've been dying to see your place. Count me in!" Haru readily agrees.
You lead him inside, shutting the door behind the both of you. The Jabberwock Captain walks ahead with his hands on his hips, peering around the open space with curiosity.
"I don't usually stay down here," You clarify preemptively.Â
Haru lets out a low whistle. "This place is pretty big! How do you get to dusting around here?"Â
"Dusting?" You chuckle at that. "I don't exactly have a ladder fit for that here."
"That's no good! Especially when you're sick! I can get a ladder real quick if you want. I'll have this whole place spic and span in no time!"
"Nooope. Not gonna happen." Immediately rejecting the idea, you walk up to Haru and take his gloved hand in yours, pulling him towards the staircase. "If I'm relaxing you are too, for once."
"If you say so... don't be surprised if you come home one day to a brand new cathedral," Haru says as he follows you. The way he wraps his fingers securely around yours doesn't go unnoticed.Â
"I lock my doors before I leave," You counter.
Haru hums ambiguously behind you.Â
You don't need to turn around to know why. "No lock picking, either."
The captain clicks his tongue. "Darn."
Once the two of you get upstairs, you make your way to your vintage sofa on the right side of the room. A few months ago, you picked up a smart TV when you were out in the mundane world on a mission. Currently, it was set up on a wooden media console right across from the couch. You waste no time plopping down, pulling a nearby throw blanket over you, and reaching for the remote on the end table to find something to watch.Â
Rather than joining you, Haru opts to shamelessly look around the room once he kicks off his shoes by the entrance. It didn't bother you-- not now anyway. You're pretty sure you don't have anything embarrassing laying out in the open. As you search through different streaming services, you catch Haru in your peripheral periodically darting around the room.
"What's this? VHS scary movies...?" Haru asks as he stops at the bookshelf by your bed. He begins pulling out some of the tapes to further examine them. "Hey, Ren likes some of these! I've seen them in his room, too!"
With permission, surely...
"Before I got a smart TV in here, all I had was a VHS player," You explain, glancing up at him from the screen. "This place was pretty dated."
"You are the first person I've seen stay here," Haru remarks as he pushes the tapes back in their respective places.Â
You divert your attention back to the television and continue scrolling through your recommended shows. It's mostly horror movies. Save for a few K-dramas that contributed to your sour mood earlier in the day. Maybe you were being petty and bitter, but romance just isn't speaking to you the way it used to.
"Doujinshi manga...?" Haru reads aloud, humming with curiosity. The nosey captain pries open the book without hesitation. "Let's take a peeksies...!"
Shit, you thought you threw that out forever ago. It was definitely kind of smutty.Â
You snap your head in his direction, your cheeks burning with embarrasment. "H-Haru! That's enough sifting through my stuff for now, get your butt over here!"
The Jabberwock Captain sways his body to face your direction, a teasing smile plastered on his face. "Can I take the book?"
He so knew what he was doing.Â
"No. Put it back," You retort sternly.Â
"Okay, okaaay."
Haru obeys, placing the novel back where he found it before making his way towards you. When he sits down next to you, he's rather close. It gives your heart a little jumpstart, and you desperately try not to think about the fact that your knees are now touching. Sure, the captain could have sat farther away, but it's a small couch.
"What are we watching?" Haru asks as he peers at the screen ahead. "You really like horror movies, dontchya?"
"Do you?" You counter.
"I don't mind them! If I get scared, can I hold onto you?" Haru jokes.
You wish he would hold onto you anyway, but you don't say that.Â
"Only if I get the same pass." Somehow you manage that without tripping over your words. You just hope you're not blushing.Â
"Of course! It goes without saying-- a tooth for a tooth." Haru looks back at the screen and something you're highlighting seems to catch his eye. "Oooh, that K-drama there! Towa told me about it, he said it's really good. You watched an episode already?"
You groan, scrolling past it anyway. "Towa told me about it too. The only romance related stuff I'd be willing to watch right now is trash TV. Unhappy couples only."
You probably sound like a bitter goblin, but you're too tired to care.Â
Haru quirks a skeptic eyebrow. "Unhappy only? You don't like the happy ones?"
"I just need to be injected with a little realism right now. And this isn't it," You reply, dodging the question.
Haru stares at you like he has more to say for several beats. You pretend not to notice and find the trashiest trash TV show possible. This was probably just what you needed. You silently commend your big-brained idea before clicking and starting up the show.Â
"... So, I heard you missed class the last two days!" The Jabberwock Captain comments with an awkward chuckle. "What happened there?"
You flit your gaze to him as you lean back into the cushion of the couch. "And how do you know that?"
"Ahahaha..." Haru nervously musses his hair and avoids your searching eyes. "Well, your professor phoned me and what not! Yup, yup."
"Strange... I didn't realize Darkwick staff called to report an absence for a grown adult woman. To a captain who's house I'm not even a part of, no less," You remark coolly.Â
Haru presses his lips into a thin line and you can practically see the sweat dripping from his forehead as he fumbles for an excuse. "Er... well. Gahaha."
You place your elbow on the armrest next to you and support your head against your knuckles, narrowing your eyes at him. "Spill."
"...Okay, so maaaybe when I installed the new 'Find My Kiddo' tracking chips on Ren's phone, they may have accidentally tumbled into your bag last time you were over?" Haru suggests, his tone as guilty as he looks.Â
You harden your gaze, enunciating his name with bite. "Haru."
Haru picks up a throw pillow from behind himself and hugs it against his chest. "Okay, okay, fine! I installed it on your phone, too." The Jabberwock Captain sucks in a gust of air, near whispering his next words. "...Don't be mad?"
You click your tongue and reach a hand forward, squishing his cheek-- albeit lightly. It elicits a satisfying squeak out of him anyway.Â
"I'm not mad," You assure him, tapping his chin softly before withdrawing your hand. "But why did you do that?"
Haru chews on his lip, appearing rather meek. "What if you get in to trouble? Or someone kidnaps you? Or what if you get attacked by a vicious dog on the way to campus? Anything could happen...!"Â
If it were literally anyone else, this would be creepy as hell. But Haru gets a pass. He always does.
You snort, your mood lifting by the second. "A dog? Is that what I should be worried about? You're so silly, sometimes."Â
Haru's expression relaxes at your response. He smiles, his eyebrows tented. "I hope you know that you can talk to me if you need to! A silly fella like me is still willing to listen."
It's not as if you're not willing to vent to Haru, but this particular topic would be strange for you to breach. On top of recovering from a cold, you had been feeling down and out regarding the lack of success in your love life. The last person that should hear about that stuff is the guy you have the hots for.Â
You shoot him a wary look before tossing your gaze ahead to the TV. "What makes you think I need to talk?"
Haru shifts his eyes in the direction of your sleeping area. "Well... the filled trash can with crumpled up tissues is one thing."
Your face burns at the insinuation. "I...! I told you I wasn't feeling well! I had the sniffles!"Â
Okay, that may or may not be the only reason.Â
Haru pauses, turning to look towards you again. "And I noticed your stereo has a playlist paused called 'Songs to Cry to'. Not to mention your favorite comfort cookies are nestled in your sheets like a baby in a bassinet!"Â
"Are you trying to embarrass me right now?" You accuse, though you don't even believe it yourself. "And when did you have a chance to notice all that?â
Haru smiles sheepishly. "I notice everything about you! Er, well I tryâŠ!â
You feel your heart catch in your throat at the unexpected comment. Why does he have to make things so complicated by being the most reliable and sweet ray of sunshine you ever laid your eyes upon? You should have figured he was snooping more than you thought.Â
Sighing, you pull the throw blanket on your lap over your shoulders as you pull your knees to your chest. Maybe in an attempt to make yourself feel less exposed physically than you do emotionally right now. "...You really want me to tell you? It's pretty lame."
Haru pivots in his spot to face you and crosses his legs. "Only if you feel comfy doing it!"
You fidget underneath the blanket and train your gaze on the TV ahead. The show is playing, but the volume is currently so low you don't even need to bother adjusting it. "I feel comfortable talking to you, of course. This is just a weird topic I don't think I've brought up around you."
Haru leans his head against the back of the couch and patiently waits for you to continue.
You can't imagine Haru feeling weird about anything really. He was always the type to roll with the punches. Regardless, you ask him a question to gauge his response to the topic.Â
"Have you dated anyone, Haru?"
The Jabberwock Captain pauses, pressing his lips together as he deliberates a reply.Â
It's not like much time passes, but you find yourself immediately regretting the question. âYou don't have to answer that, sorry!"
"Don't be! I just, er... wouldn't call it dating? Hehe." Haru scratches his face with a gloved finger.Â
"...You mean like hookups?" You deadpan.
Haru nods, a nervous laugh spilling from his lips. "Yeaaah! It was like a bajillion years ago, though!"
You look at him with curiosity. For some reason that doesn't surprise you a whole lot. "How was it? Your experience with that?"
The captain's cheeks tinge pink, but he answers readily. "Hmm... at the time I probably thought it was great. Hormones and adolescence can really pull the wool over your eyes, though!"
"You aren't seeing anyone now?" The question leaves your mouth before you can consider how suggestive it may sound.
"Gahaha, there aren't enough hours in a day for all that! Unless they became a ranger for Jabberwock!" Haru suddenly sits up and smacks a fist against his open palm, like he just remembered something. "Oh, oh! That reminds me! I finally got a Jabberwock uniform for you on the way! It's lavender colored! Cute, right?"
You sigh and mentally kick yourself for how excited you feel from his impulsive word vomit. "I know you didn't mean it like that, but you did NOT time those two pieces of information together well... lavender is cute by the way, thanks."
"Hmm?" Haru stares at you, looking a little lost.
Moving on.
"I think we have had very different experiences in the romance department," You remark. "I suppose that only makes sense."
"Tell me about yours," Haru prods, his lips curling into an encouraging smile.Â
"...Not great. And if I'm being completely honest, terrible." You laugh bitterly, despite yourself.Â
Haru tents his eyebrows, concern etched on his features. "Terrible?"
"I'm not very experienced with intimacy," You admit, breaking away from his stare. "I rushed into things quickly before, because I was intimidated by my lack of experience. It backfired in a way..."
"How so?" Haru presses.
"Well... the whole ordeal was not only lackluster, but left me feeling humiliated and almost entirely opposed to the idea of intimacy afterwards," You explain, vaguely.Â
Haru nods in understanding. "So, it was someone that you weren't comfortable with?"
You nod. "Definitely not. I suppose I thought I would be at the time, but it didn't turn out that way. They weren't the person they made themselves out to be."
"Have you dated anyone else?"Â
"I've tried. It never feels right, so it doesn't go far."
Haru hums, offering you a sympathetic glance. "So, you wanna find one that does?"
You idly pull at loose strings on the hem of your sleepwear, while you gather your thoughts. "...I just kinda want to have someone special like that. But not just anyone, obviously. I know better now."Â
"Clicking with people is tough work! I wish that your first experience had been more positive for you." Haru reaches a hand forward and pats your head gently. "One positive that could come from this is that if you have low expectations, you'll know what's right for you when the time comes! Maybe your next experience will be like fireworksâ no second guessing.â
You laugh a little. "That's... certainly one way of looking at it. Assuming I ever find that person."
"Someone who accepts YOU fully? I bet it will be a cinch!" Haru counters enthusiastically.Â
"It doesn't feel that simple," You argue unthinkingly. "I've heard plenty of people around me talk shit about other people's performance in bed. Most people would be quick to say there's nothing sexy about needing to reassure someone a lot."
Haru frowns. "Someone who cares about you won't make you feel bad about that, I promise!"
You know he's right. And you feel a bit bad for being so cynical when he's just trying to be supportive.Â
You shake your head decidedly. "...Sorry, Haru! I didn't mean to sound so mopey."
A lopsided smile forms on the Jabberwock Captain's face. "Mopey is fine with me! I just hope I can help!â
"You're such a sweetheart, Haru," You comment easily, flashing him a bright smile. "Thanks. This whole curse thing sucked at first, but I'm glad it got me to meet you."
Haru creases his eyebrows and audibly gulps. "M-Me too...! I'm glad I met you too, (Y/N)."
"And you're probably right, anyway. One day, someone might be patient enough to deal with my old hangups,â You shake your head dismissively, eager to clear your thoughts. âLet's watch this show, I don't wanna waste the night away on sad topics." Fixing your gaze ahead, you lift the remote in your hand, and turn the volume on the TV up a couple of notches.Â
From your right, you pick up a barely discernible voice.
"...I would."
"..."
You must be hearing things, but you think to double check anyway. Turning the volume down again, you redirect your attention to Haru. The captain's elbows are on his knees, and he's cupping his right hand over his mouth as he looks off to the side.Â
Suspicious.
âDid you say something?â You ask.Â
âGahaha⊠did I?â The captain replies, his voice a little stifled.
Okay, so⊠Haru's not outright denying it. Your stomach flips.Â
â...Correct me if I'm wrong.â
You watch his lips part slightly as he sucks in a sharp intake of air.
âYou just said âI wouldâ?â You clarify.
âUrkâŠ!â Haru sits upright and waves his hands erratically. âAhahahaha, ignore thatâ please!â
You blink, at a loss for words. Haru is such a firecracker in personality that anything he ever said or did that could be interpreted as flirtatious just felt normal for him. Did he really mean that? If anyone were to successfully help you through your trepidation with physical affection it would be someone kind-hearted and patient like Haru.Â
âCrap, I didn't mean to make it weird! A-and about the tracking app! I swear I wasn't doing it to be a creepâ please don't get a restraining orderâŠ!â Haru clasps his hands together and bows apologetically. âI can totally take it off, no problem!â
A bubbly laugh escapes as you witness his flustered state. âPffft, a restraining order? What law personnel does Darkwick have to enforce that?â
Haru lowers his hands and looks up at you, his features relaxing. âAhaha⊠none really? Now that I think about it.â
âDon't worry, I don't plan on doing that ever,â You assure, smiling brightly for good measure. âBut did you really mean what you said?â
Haru nods sheepishly. âI think you're the bee's knees! If anyone deserves patience, it's you. You're nice, smart, helpful, and pretty,â The captain flushes as he vocalizes that last detail more quietly, before brushing past it. âYou help out everyone a lot, including me! I barely got a wink of sleep for days, until you started helping around the farm a few months ago. Now I sleep semi-regularly!âÂ
Haru's words of praise make your stomach do backflips, but you end up fixating on his sleeping habits. You shoot him a tired look. âYou still need more sleep, Haru. In fact, you should be using this time to rest!â
âNo wayâŠ!â Haru protests, appearing almost offended by the suggestion. âI hardly have time to sit down with you like this. I'm way too giddy to sleep!â
You push out an exasperated sigh. Debating his unhealthy habits right now wouldn't result in anything fruitful. So, instead you decide to take his confession into consideration as you carefully mull over your next words.
â...I feel the same way about you.â
The captain snaps to attention, his expression bewildered. âReally?!â
You snort, resting your cheek on your knees as you regard him with adoration. âDon't act so surprised. You're one of the most genuine and good-natured people I've ever met. If I were to try and re-experience anything in the romance department, it would be with someone like you.â
Haru gapes, his cheeks visibly heating up again. â...No joke?âÂ
You shake your head. âNo joke.â
Haru stills rigidly for the moment.
âS-So⊠what now?â He asks, maybe with a little too much anticipation.
You purse your lips together, eyeing him carefully. âWhat are you comfortable with?âÂ
âAnything!â Haru insists, his expression determined.
âHmm⊠let's start small then.â You drop your feet to the ground and grab the pillow from Haru's lap, setting it on your own. Patting the soft object encouragingly, you offer an idea. âLay down?â
âMe? But you're the one who's sick,â Haru counters.
âI'm fine now! Besides, you worked twice as hard today because I was here. So, I insist!â
Despite his initial protest, Haru wastes no time adjusting his position and plopping his head on the cushion. You turn the volume to the TV up marginally, before tentatively running your fingers through the captain's hair. Haru immediately relaxes into the touch, a sigh escaping his lips.
His hair is soft, like it had just recently been conditioned. You begin to pick up the scent of Haru's shampoo as you continue to play with it. The show displayed on the screen in front of you stars broken couples arguing about baby mama drama, but you're hardly paying attention to it. An impossible feat considering the man you harbored feelings for is at such close proximity.Â
At some point you massage the pads of your fingertips against Haru's scalp, eliciting a satisfied hum from him. Without warning, the captain flips over to face your waist. He shifts to where he's able to wrap both of his arms around you as he lays across your lap.Â
âYou're a dream. I'm really living the high life right now,â Haru murmurs. He nestles his face closer into the fabric of your shirt as he tightens his hold on you.Â
The action is so endearing you're nearly at a loss for words. His warm breath ghosting over your waist rouses a hoard of fitful butterflies in the pit of your stomach. Pushing through your nerves, you force an airy laugh. âAre you comfortable like that?âÂ
âMmmhm. So comfy,â Haru replies, his voice a bit muffled.
The two of you stay like that for some time, all the while you carry on with stroking his hair. You do your best to keep your eyes locked ahead, occasionally stealing glances at the man clinging to you. Eventually, the episode comes to an end and the credits start rolling.Â
âHaru, do you want to pick somethingâŠ?â You ask, picking up the remote again.
No response.
You glance down and notice the rise and fall of Haru's rhythmic breathing. He's sound asleep.Â
Considering how little the captain slept, the fact that he felt comfortable enough to do so is nothing short of heartwarming. The only problem is your legs are getting all tingly from falling asleep. Maybe you should just ask him to stay over considering the time?Â
You adjust your position ever so slightly to get some relief for your temporarily compressed nerves. Unfortunately, this causes Haru to stir from his slumber in the process.
The arms around your waist relax and the captain props himself up on his elbows, to where he's hovering over your lap and inadvertently caging in your thighs. âMmn⊠Did I just fall asleep?â
âYou did, but that's okay. Do you want to lie down? I'll move the cookies and Kleenex for you,â You tease with a smirk.Â
Haru languidly lifts himself to a sitting position and rubs his eyes. â...In your bed?âÂ
âIt's getting kind of late to walk home. Only if you're comfortable with it,â You explain, doing your best to quell the anxiety you felt from proposing the idea.
Haru moves his hand from his face and blinks in surprise.Â
âI'm offering so you can get proper sleep,â You clarify hastily.
â...Can we cuddle?â Haru asks, his tone hopeful.Â
You let out a short laugh. âYes, I'd love that.â
A grin splits the captain's face. âHeck, yeah! Now I'm stoked for sleep!â
âI just wanted to say⊠Thank you for listening to my problems. And for giving me company.â
Haru waves his hand flippantly. âCome now! I should thank you for having me! If you ever need anything, don't be shy to ask!âÂ
You smile teasingly. âI'll hold you to that. Anyway, let me clear off my mattress, it's a mess!â With that, you get to your feet with intention to make your way to your bed, but the sensation of pins and needles in your legs causes you to stumble forward.Â
âAaah!â Not missing a beat, Haru shoots upright and catches you in his arms. âAre you okay?!â
The faint scent of musky cologne fills your nostrils as you fall forward against the Jabberwock Captain's chest. Making a point to hardly move so as to not make the sensation any more unbearable, you rigidly lift your head. âYup, my legs just fell asleep, ahaha.â
Haru snickers. âDarn, I hate when that happens! No worries, I gotchya!âÂ
You don't even get a chance to ask what he means before you're lifted from your spot on the ground and hoisted over his shoulder.Â
A squeak of protest escapes your lips. âH-HaruâŠ!â
âTrust the process!â Haru begins to walk over towards your bed, holding you in place as he goes. âYou'll be down before you can say Jack Robinson, gahaha!â
âJack Robinson, Jack Robinson, Jack Robinsââ Your mantra is abruptly caught off when Haru easily lifts and maneuvers your body back first onto the mattress. You narrow your eyes up at the captain, who's hovering over you with his palms flat against the plush surface beneath you. âTwo and a half times,â You point out.Â
âIf I went any faster, you may have gotten motion sickness!â Haru argues, puckering his bottom lip out. âBetter than walking on stiff feet though, yeah?â
The captain begins to lift himself up and for some reason you find yourself abruptly catching the collar of his shirt. Haru appears mildly surprised by the action.Â
âEr, s-sorry!â You hastily apologize, loosening your grip on the fabric.Â
Haru tents his eyebrows and smiles, his tone amused. âYou want me to stay like this?â
âThat wouldn't exactly be comfortable,â You counter, fighting back a blush.
The captain hums and leans against the mattress, just between your legs that are hanging over the side. âThis is comfy enough, for now!â
Your heart slams erratically in your chest as you lock eyes with Haru at such close proximity. Of course, he would immediately be receptive to any protest you have. But why exactly did you stop him from leaving?Â
âI⊠can I kiss you?â You manage, your voice barely above a whisper.Â
Haruâs cheeks tinge pink at the sudden request. Regardless, he doesn't delay in his efforts to fulfill it. You catch a glimpse of his hand moving in your peripheral before you feel it cup your cheek and tilt your face upwards. Your eyes flutter shut when you register him closing the distance.
The sensation of Haru's warm lips against yours is mind-numbing. To say you have butterflies would feel like a disservice to the unfamiliar emotions flooding over you like a tidal wave. Countless years of resolute aversion directed at the idea of sharing another kiss with someone melted away with the first chaste contact. Haru separates his lips briefly, only to reconnect with yours over and over again in a barrage of subdued and languid kisses.Â
When Haru eventually pulls away, his features are completely flushed. He props himself over you with his elbows and eyes you warily. âWas that okayâŠ?â
You bring your own hand up to touch your face. Considering how warm you feel right now there's no way he doesn't see the effect he has on you. âI think I must be down bad for you, Haru.â
The response seems to pacify the captain because he smiles at you. âHah⊠if that's the case I sure am a lucky guy.â
âI think I'm the lucky one.â
Haru shakes his head emphatically. âYou reckon we can keep doing this? Or, er⊠is it a one time thing?âÂ
The anxiety in his tone is enough to gut you. As if you would have it any other way.Â
âYou're the only one I want,â You assure. âI would love to keep spending time with you.â
Haru regards you with such a doting look that it's a wonder you're not dissolving from the overload of emotions being thrown at you all at once.Â
âLooks like I'm gonna have to bribe the team so I can open up my schedule!â

Love That Bites Pt. 11
Hi! Here's part 11 to my Dracula x Reader series! I apologize for the huge delay, I've had a lot going on IRL, so I haven't has as much time/energy to write as I would have liked. Still, I hope you enjoy! I hope to have more happen in the next chapter as well, hopefully some action! Summary: Dracula finally manages to get things running somewhat smoothly, only to run into a snag when it comes to the potions he's had made for you. Thankfully, it isn't as big of a setback as it could be, so long as he can see you beginning to heal. During all of it, he begins to recognize some old feelings...

Dracula was beginning to wonder just how you had managed to survive so long on your own.
He wasnât doubting your skills. In fact, Dracula could tell from a glance you were a powerful fighter, much like your ancestors had been. He wouldnât be surprised if you were one of the strongest Belmonts yet.
No, he was concerned over how you seemed lacking when it came to taking care of yourself.
Sure, you had bandaged yourself on the way to his castle, and he was thankful you seemed to have some sort of survival instinct.
But he noticed you didnât put in too much effort though in your own health overall.
It wasnât just from how you came to his castle recently, but something he had noticed long before he had been freed.
After the first few times he saw you, it was clear to him. You would briefly mention your headaches, and your homelife, how you just âdealtâ with it.
You had mentioned to him in a joke how even though you had been sick at one point, you just pushed through it while sleeping in your car for a week.
He couldnât ask you at the time why you did such things, being trapped in stone. Now, he felt it would be counterproductive to ask you. Not until you were comfortable around him.
But it was a horrifying thing you mentioned offhandedly while eating a sandwich, and you refused to elaborate. Why would you put yourself through that?
Add that to his mental list of reasons why he had to investigate your home life. If anything, that was blatantly unhealthy. How the hell was your immune system putting up such a fight on its own if that was how you handled being sick at your home?
How did you handle most injuries before you met him? A part of him really did not wish to find out, but he couldnât help but feel the desire to know.
Dracula was at least thankful you mentioned a small cabin once. After you had mentioned it while he was stone, you realized what you had said, and were quick to try and change the subject. You had not meant to tell him about it, it seemed.
But he was thankful at least that you had a small place nearby to rest.
At one point throughout the day as he checked in on you, he briefly considered going to see this cabin, or sending a scout to see where it was. However, he dismissed this idea almost as soon as he had thought it.
Youâd no doubt be upset if you found out he had done so, and he would be willing to bet you had traps all over the land leading up to your small sanctuary away from your home.
It was only logical to assume so. You had found his castle nearby your own property.
Something he didnât fail to see irony in. Of course his castle would choose a place nearby a Belmontâs property.
Still, if it had been him in your situation, he would have placed traps on top of traps once finding out such a thing. Sending an underling was just asking for it to either be captured, destroyed, or injured. Or for such information to spread to less enthusiastic minions who were disgruntled about your stay here.
No doubt when you inevitably left, you would check the traps, or at least notice one out of place, if not finding a dead monster's remains on your land. Dracula couldnât afford to have you lose trust in him just because he was curious.
Yes⊠Dracula would wait, and put his patience to the test. Heâd try to get you to open up to him, and show him yourself.
You already were showing you didnât detest him, something that was bringing an old warmth to his cold heart.
Heâd even wager you opened up to him just a little earlier, when you had mentioned your injuries had been from something personal.
Sure, it wasnât a large amount of information, but it was progress.
Now, he just had to keep this progress going forward, something Dracula knew was not going to be smooth sailing as he had hoped. There was already unrest in the castle, he could just feel it.
No one had said anything to him, but Dracula was more in tune with his castle and its magic than people gave him credit for. Every being here had energy that was woven with the castleâs in some way shape or form.
And people were anxious.
Some were restless, some were afraid. Many were irritated.
A Belmont being treated as a guest? He knew it would only be a matter of time before someone or something acted out.
Dracula just hoped it wouldnât be at your expense. He could clean any other mess as need be, but he wouldnât stand you being injured further.
Alas, he couldnât act unless someone else acted out first, or he could see they were planning something that involved you. Dracula, loathe as he may to admit it, would only cause more unrest by acting too hastily.
That was fine though, he could bide his time.
The only thing that had him on edge was your current injuries. Or rather, he didnât want you fighting with your injuries and making them worse, especially after your healing has been progressing nicely.
Speaking of which, You were healing incredibly quickly. If it wasnât for your lineage, he would have guessed you had some sort of distant supernatural blood in your veins, such as vampirism.
Still, even though you were healing at an impressive rate, it still wasnât enough. Your injuries by all means could have killed you, and they were still deep and fresh.
His fingers tapped on the wood of his desk in his study, concern no doubt etched clear on his features.
Those potions should be finished today, or at least the first batch of them. The stronger type usually required a longer amount of time to simmer for better healing effects. Time though, was not something he could afford, so a batch of the regular sort would have to do.
Of course, heâd have to thoroughly check them himself after his alchemists were finished. He had not explained who the potions were for when he had ordered it to be done, but now, there was no doubt in his mind the ones creating the potions knew it was for a hunter.
Unfortunately, he couldnât even trust most of his underlings with this. Even his more trusted ones, he was going to be forced to keep an eye on.
The chances of his alchemists messing with your potions were low, but not impossible. Thankfully, he knew potions very well after studying them centuries ago. Dracula was confident he could catch any âunneededâ ingredients that might slip in the finished batch.
However, he hated that he would have to check.
âHow bothersomeâŠâ he mumbled as he pressed his face into the palm of one of his hands.
Looking for poison itself wasnât the issue, itâs something heâll gladly do. It was the fact this would mean it would take longer to get the potions to you that irritated him.
If the potions were tampered with, like he worried they might be, heâd probably have to make them himself. Something he would also do without pause, but again, he didnât wish for you to stay injured any longer than necessary.
Dracula rubbed his eyes for a moment, wondering how he had grown so protective of you like a mother hen.
The last time he could remember fretting over someone, was whenever his late wife had gotten sick, or when his son fell ill once or twice.
Back before everything fell apart.
He sighed, feeling another migraine coming on. It wouldnât do well to think of that now. The less distractions, the better.
At least one good thing came from this. You were receptive to him checking in on you. Dracula doubted you would trust any of his underlings to do it, or at least any of them bringing you meals.
Not without him there to supervise, it seemed.
It was small, but that amount of trust you had in him was a lot for the circumstances.
Dracula felt another sigh escape his lips, and he ignored the temptation to lay his head on his desk like a daydreaming school boy.
What were you doing to him? Had the Great Dracula really fallen for a Belmont?
His eyes widened slightly at his own thoughts.
Fallen? No. Though he detested the idea of admitting he had a schoolboy crush.
He could at least admit he felt fonder for you than some human teenager just figuring themselves out, thank you very much.
Deep down however, thinking about this unsettled him.
Dracula cared for you. He could admit that in his head whole heartedly. Somehow, the Little Belmont had wormed their way into his cold, dead heart without even trying.
But he feared to think about what that meant for him. His life. His future. Your future.
The trust between you two was rocky, but it was there. Could he really push to have you trust him more? Was that really a future he could hope for? Try for? To even care about?
Was it even worth it?
Dracula ran a hand through his hair, and debated summoning another glass of blood to sooth the migraine he could already feel forming in his temples.
Himself and your family had been doomed to fight for centuries. Would even trying to open up the possibilities of at least a friendship be very wise?
Looking from the outside, it seemed like something doomed to fail.
So why did he want to try?
His fingers began to thrum idly on the desk again.
The answer was still the same as before. It was you.
You were different. Different from most Belmonts.
Was wanting to bet on that difference really worth the possible pain? Heartbreak? Potential agony?
Vladâs eyes drifted over to a portrait that hung in his private study. One depicting his precious Lisa.
Lisa had been worth it, even if his time with her had been so cruelly cut short. He knew her time with her would have been limited, as she had wanted to stay human. It was one of the things that had made her so precious.
One of the few things he regretted was not being there for her when she needed him most. Probably one of his biggest regrets, alongside not being next to Elisabetha when she passed back when he had been human.
So perhaps⊠This too, would be worth it.
He could not deny that this was a golden opportunity. If, by small chance, he could change fateâŠ
Perhaps he would not have to suffer being killed once more, and this damned cycle between him and your family could finally break.
Dracula was no fool. He was sure this cycle affected your family just as much as it did him. Ever since Leon, almost every Belmont has had to learn to fight creatures of the night. Either to be a hunter, or to avoid simply being the prey.
No doubt not every Belmont liked this, and judging from the small glimpses of your home life he has seen, the Belmont clan seems to have fallen into disrepair.
There was a darkness in your eyes when you spoke about your home, one that had him worrying all over again.
That was something else he was going to have to focus on. Your life at home.
Given that your clan was full of vampire hunters, even if he did by chance get your homeâs location, he doubted himself or any of his underlings would be able to get too close. Surveillance wouldnât be an easy option, or most likely would not be an option at all.
Unless, of course, your familyâs home and protections have also deteriorated. Perhaps getting close to the home wouldnât be as big of an issue.
But alas, he wouldnât risk most of his underlings finding your home like that. He has a few he trusts, sure, but he couldnât in good faith let most of them know where you lived.
All it would take is one slip up, and your home would no doubt be swarmed. Even if it wasnât monsters from his circles, it wouldnât take much from other groups to learn and decide to exterminate you en masse.
Even if no one could penetrate your homeâs defenses, it wouldnât be hard to stage an ambush to have you assassinated the moment you left your property. Or anyone else that lived with you.
Draculaâs eyes narrowed at that thought. Oh, how that was tempting, just to see those who may have hurt you torn to shreds.
But he had to wait. Heâd have vengeance for you one way or another.
Before he could contemplate who he had to murder, he heard a brisk knock at his door. Crimson eyes narrowed, and with his mask slipping back into place, he sat back in his chair.
âEnter.â
Large doors to his study creaked open, and one of the alchemists he had working on your potions stepped into the room. A young man who had answered the Castleâs magical call for power and safety.
The young man before him tried not to tremble under his gaze, barely making eye contact before looking at a different part of the room. Dracula had to hold back an annoyed sigh.
A shame those who could create potions were few and far between, leaving him with such a sniveling fool. At least he could get the job done, along with the few others he had working under him.
âIs the task I set for you and the others finished?â he asked, thrumming his fingers against the desk once again, a bored look on his face.
Swallowing nervously, the alchemist nodded, before remembering he needed to speak.
âY-Yes, milord. The first batch of potions has finished, butâŠâ
Dracula raised an eyebrow. He was already nearing the end of his patience.
âBut?â
The young man flinched, and the vampire tried not to roll his eyes.
âIâm afraid, ah⊠this batch wonât be that potent, due t-to us having to rushâŠâ
As if Dracula didnât already anticipate that.
No matter though. What was important was getting you something to fend back the majority of your injuries. Even if it is just enough to help you fight infection and mend a few patches of skin, it was better than nothing.
âIâm aware of the effect of making potions on such short notice. Is that everything?â
For a split second, the alchemistâs heartbeat spiked, and he avoided looking at the Vampire Lord. Dracula forced his face to remain neutral.
How curious.
âThatâs everything, sir.â
Almost immediately, the shadows in the room crawled forward, and the temperature dropped a noticeable amount.
Dracula stood up from his chair to his full height, and leaned over his desk. His claws dug into the wood, and his eyes grew black and red.
âTell me, Alchemist, why are you lying to me?â
A squeak left the young manâs lips, and he physically shrunk in on himself. No one wanted to be on Draculaâs bad side.
âI donât tolerate liars in my court.â
The Alchemist fell backwards onto the floor in a scramble, and shuffled backwards a few feet. The door magically shut behind him, and he looked as if he were to faint.
Dracula felt the air grow heavy around him, and the pathetic man in front of him began to pant and shake.
âNow, what is it you are hiding from me?â
The threat was clear as day. Should the young man in front of him lie, or do something foolish, he would not live to see tomorrow.
Swallowing thickly, the Alchemist shakily stood to his feet.
âI⊠As I was finishing up my batch of potions, I overheard a few of the witches talking.â
Dracula had the tension in the air lesson to a degree. The boy in front of him was willing to speak, so he may as well not make it too difficult, lest the coward faint.
Though he made sure his displeasure was apparent.
âGo on.â Eyes darted between him and other parts of the room, the Alchemist shrunk in on himself further before speaking.
âI⊠I overheard them talking about how they think the hunter has bewitched you. That the hunter is going to kill you, and everyone involved.â
Dracula wanted to scoff. Just mild gossip. He wasnât surprised it was already making the rounds, though heâd have to keep an eye on it lest it fester into something unmanageable without conflict.
Rumors and resentment building would only cause unrest, and the less he had to deal with, the better.
âAnd just who were the witches who were discussing this?â The man swallowed. âI donât know.â âSo you didnât think to get a look on who it might be?â He shook his head, fingers twitching idly.
âNo sir. ButâŠâ
Dracula could feel the throbbing in his temples. Perhaps he should summon some wineâŠ
â...The witches talked about wanting to do something before it was too late.â
Now that caught Draculaâs attention.
âThey what?!â
The Alchemist winced, though straightened up a little now that Draculaâs ire wasnât entirely directed at him.
âI-I have no evidence, nor was I able to follow them, but- I think some of them might be planning something, sir.â
The roomâs temperature dropped further, and at the moment, the Alchemist felt like his soul left his body.
Dracula was well known for his fury.
How his anger was icy, yet his fury ran hot.
âPlanning something?â
His voice was low, in a way that was like a growl. Like a predator readying to bite down on the neck of its prey. It was inviting, yet it had the survival instincts of anything around him screaming to run.
The wind picked up around the castle, and lightning began to strike across the clouded sky. The flashes of light only seemed to emphasize the anger on his face.
Briefly, The King of the Night hoped you werenât bothered by the pick up of the storm. Surely youâd notice the change in atmosphereâŠ
But that was something he could check in with you later.
âAnd do you happen to know just what they might be planning? Or which ones it even was?â
Draculaâs mind was beginning to work overtime. Which witches lingered near the Alchemy lab? He's going to have to do a sweep it seemed, and soon. At least Castlevania would give him some insight should he ask for it.
If some of his underlings were already conspiring against himâŠ
The boy in front of him was eerily silent, and Dracula held back from snapping. Killing the fool wouldnât solve any of his issues, especially as he needed him for now.
Then, a thought suddenly hit Dracula, and he sat back into his seat, his claws growing sharper.
âBoy, where is the finished batch of potions?â
The Alchemist froze for a moment, taken aback by the sudden question.
âUm⊠In the labs?â
Draculaâs eyes sharpened, almost glowing red.
âAnd is there anyone or anything protecting the finished batch of potions in the labs?â
âAhâŠâ
Running a hand across his face, Dracula fought the urge to kill something.
He was going to need that drink before visiting you.
â
Much to Draculaâs disappointment (and hidden fury), it was just as he had expected.
He had decided to check on the batch of the potion himself after that conversation, just to be sure it hadnât been tampered with.
It was something he was already going to do, but now it was incredibly important to do so after hearing what the Alchemist had to say.
Just as he had feared, the main batch that had been left out had indeed been soiled.
The potion itself was a darker blue than it should have been, a first tell that something wasnât quite right. Then there was the smell.
Potions already smelled a bit bland, with a hint of bitterness to them. However, he was able to catch the scent of something almost sour.
The texture itself was also a bit⊠thick. Closer to a cream rather than the liquid form it was supposed to have.
Dracula felt his brow twitch with thinly veiled disdain.
With a sigh, and barely hidden rage, he ended up banishing the whole batch. No point in taste testing when he could already smell the signs of tampering. The only thing he would be able to get out of a test would be what ingredients specifically had been added, but there was no point. Not when he already knew the results.
It seems he would have to keep a closer eye on things than he thought.
Even if the alchemists and potioneers he had working on this were as trustworthy as they could get, it seemed that there was only so much he could do before the rats began to poke their noses where they didn't belong.
As much as he hated to section off parts of the lab, it seems he would have to until you were healed, or he found all the idiots involved who dared try and pull a fast one on him.
Thankfully however, not everything was lost.
Dracula was thankful that moment for employing several alchemists to the lab for different batches of potions. He could just take from those, since they would have a similar effect.
The other alchemists were to keep working on different batches of potions, so he could have stronger ones brewing while the first batch was finished. This meant there would be less powerful ones, sure, but he would simply have more made.
What mattered was getting this first batch to you.
You may be healing relatively quickly and well, but he was quickly growing to dislike seeing you injured.
The shadows under your eyes, and how sunken in your face looked, added to your winces of pain⊠He hoped that he could help with that by taking care of your wounds.
It would be a long journey, he was sure. No doubt it would take more than just healing your injuries to actually have you looked⊠alive.
That was what had his cold, undead heart beating worriedly in his chest.
You didnât look like you were living.
Sure, your blood pumped, your heart still beats, but you didnât have a happy light in your eyes. Dracula could mistake you for one of his minions with how those eyes alone looked.
He was thankful though, seeing a spark in them. It was subtle, and only showed up on occasion.
However, he found himself yearning to protect it.
Ha. Him. Lord of the Night. King of all Vampires, wanting to protect his own supposed enemy. Even more so, with such⊠feelings developing.
Dracula still wasnât sure whether to find it amusing, or pitiful.
The beast in his mind that he had embraced so long ago surprisingly didnât fight him on it. At first, it had called him pathetic the first time he found himself wanting to help you.
But that same beast had quickly done a 180, quickly growing to respect you much like his logical side had.
And oh, how it had quickly grown protective.
Dracula felt his lips almost twitch upward at the thought, feeling the very same protectiveness stir in his soul as he approached your door.
He gave a brisk knock at the door, casting a brief glance to the living armors he had stationed near your room. Stone still as always.
After a brief moment, he heard your voice, telling him to come in.
Carefully he opened the door, and it was as if a weight was lifted off his chest just seeing you. The way you subtly perked up when seeing him, sitting up in your bedâŠ
He tried not to let his pride get to him, how it was him that you were sitting up for.
âOne step at a time, Vlad.â
The scent of your blood though soon quickly caught his nose, and he felt himself stand straighter as he walked quickly to your side.
âYour injuries⊠did one re-open?â He was quick to ask, internally scolding himself when he felt the urge to have a taste.
For a Belmont, your blood was still such an intoxicating scentâŠ
Sheepishly, you looked away from him after he arrived at your side.
âAh⊠I fell on the way to the restroom. I accidentally pulled some stitches open, but I got the wound under control.â
If he had been a human, he would have sworn you were trying to give him a heart attack at this rate. How was it you were such a trouble magnet?
Gently, he leaned over you, his hands hovering over where your shirt was. Underneath, he could already smell the irritated wound and fresh blood.
His eyes met your own.
âMay I?â He asked, desiring to see how bad it had gotten. His voice was soft and tender, not wishing to push you or make you uncomfortable.
You froze for a moment, and a glimmer of emotion passed in your eyes. However, it left as quick as it came, and you carefully pulled your arms up to give him access.
Even now, Dracula was still incredibly impressed with the trust you were giving him. If this had been any of your ancestors, or any hunter, really, he would no doubt be in a fight.
Gently, his cool hands brushed against your warm skin as he lifted your shirt upwards to see the bandaged wound. He pointedly ignored the shiver you have, no doubt his cold hands most likely the cause.
At least, thatâs what he told himself, also ignoring how you tensed slightly. Or how he heard your pulse pick up as he got closer.
It was not the time to let his mind wander and theorize.
Dracula would give you credit, though. Your pain tolerance wasnât anything to scoff at, and you were taking everything in stride, even now.
He removed the bandages with a gentle ease, and immediately internally stomped down the sudden hunger he felt.
The fresh scent of your blood still somehow managed to drive him crazy, even when he wasnât starving.
To think heâd find a Belmontâs blood so appealing?
It took a bit of his will power to calm himself, before continuing to look at the wound. Pursing his lips, he let out a hum.
His hands held your midsection still as he observed the new damage, ignoring your sharp intake of air.
âApologiesâŠâ He mumbled, knowing full and well his hands were most likely even colder the closer they were to your feverish flesh.
âNo worriesâŠâ You breathed, your voice small. His eyes flickered up to your face, and your own were wide as you watched him. Still vigilant, even now. Cute.
Eyes back on your wound, he felt a bit of relief. Thankfully you hadnât torn open as many stitches as he had feared, and you had cleaned the wound up well.
It seems getting rest and meals was helping you both physically, and mentally. You werenât hanging on a thread, wrapping wounds with little regard to your life now.
Really, he shouldnât be surprised. Even if he was worried about how you thought of yourself and your health in general, you of all people would know how to properly wrap a wound when in good conditions to do so.
After a moment, he pressed the bandages back onto your injury, and stepped back.
âDespite several stitches being pulled, it could have been worse.â
You pull your shirt down, and smile sheepishly.
âThatâs good. It didnât look too bad, but Iâm glad you agree.â You spoke, rubbing the back of your neck a bit nervously.
It seemed you were still on edge, though he didnât mind too much.
He looked you over for a moment as you fixed your shirt. You really were looking better than when you first arrived. Even from when he saw you this morning, you seemed to be improving.
At least, he was definitely thankful you no longer looked like you were dead on your feet.
Clearing his throat for a moment, he nearly smirked at how you almost jumped. Most would have missed how your muscles tensed, though he decided to count the fact he wasnât outright scaring you a plus.
âI have something for you.â
Immediately your interest was piqued.
How you subtly leaned towards him and tilted your head, you were curious.
âYou do?â
He stepped back for a moment, before holding out his hand. In a flash of smoke and light, a bottle appeared in his hand.
As he held it out to you, your eyes widened as you gently took it from his grip.
âA potion? You really made some?â
Dracula crossed his arms a bit in pride as you looked over the bottle.
âOf course. Youâll find I am not fond of breaking promises, or going back on my word.â
You took a moment to look over the bottle you now held in your hands, almost disbelieving. Dracula felt a pang of something in his heart. Pity? Worry? He wasnât sure, but he didnât like how astounded you looked over the fact he would get you some basic potions.
âI do apologize in advance. Due to the fact your injuries were severe, I had this made as fast as possible. It wonât heal you completely, but it should heal the worst of your wounds.â
For a moment, you were silent, clearly thinking.
âIf you are worried about it being poisoned-â he began, but you raised a hand to cut him off.
âNo! No, itâs fine. Sorry. I trust it isnât poisoned.â You spoke. After another moment, you pulled the cork off the bottle, and debated if you should take a sip.
âHowever, I do wish to warn you about something.â Dracula said, speaking before you could drink it. He may as well tell you now, before you take a drink. No doubt youâd be upset if he told you after.
You froze, looking at him expectantly.
âYesâŠ?â
Dracula let out a frustrated sigh, a hand coming up to his forehead just thinking about it.
âSomeone has tried to tamper with one of the batches of potions I have commissioned to be made.â
Your eyes widened, flickering to the potion, but he held up a hand to try and calm you before you could panic.
âI tossed that batch out after testing it myself. I can assure you the potion you hold in your hand has been deemed clean by myself personally. That one you hold in your hand was not supposed to go to you today. It was a batch that was supposed to simmer for a few more days.â
âTo become a stronger batchâŠâ You murmured, and Dracula felt a small twinge of pride. He supposes it shouldnât be a surprise you would know such things, given how often you probably used potions in general.
âSo⊠Someone wanted me deadâŠ?â You asked, still eyeing the bottle critically. Draculaâs face turned a bit more sour.
âUnfortunately so. I will not lie to you, having you as my guest has⊠ruffled some feathers. Iâm currently investigating those I believe tried to lace the potion with poison.â
Bright eyes flickered to him, and he caught that look, one of near disbelief.
âWhy? I donât particularly blame them, Iâm a hunter, after allâŠâ You murmured once again, eyes glancing back to the bottle.
âBecause you are my guest. I will not tolerate those who wish to go against my orders, and attempt to kill the company I deemed worthy to keep.â
Dracula wondered if you werenât used to such thoughts, with the way he saw emotions flicker across your face, gone as quick as they came.
Summoning a chair from the side of the room, he sat down, placing his elbows on his knees as he rested his chin over his clasped hands.
âIf you donât wish to drink that potion, I will not force you. It will just take a longer period for you to fully recover. I will not blame you for doing so.â
After all, he just admitted someone tried to use a different batch to kill you. He wouldnât blame you for being careful.
You seemed to think for a moment, and Dracula decided to keep speaking as you thought about it.
âI also wish to officially inform you that unrest is beginning to stir in the castle. However,â Dracula began, taking in your expression of slight alarm, âI once again wish to reiterate something. You are allowed to protect yourself. I will not vilify you if you defend yourself from an attack.â
It was the truth. He had means to see if it was self defense, or a planned attack. He doubted you would attack unprompted.
You look at him a bit confused.
âBut⊠How would you know it was self defense? The monsters who want me dead could just lie as a group, right?â
Dracula felt the corners of his lips twitch upwards. You had clearly been thinking about this, though he could tell it was something that must have weighed on your mind.
Not so much you thinking you could get away with attacking his subordinate, rather, you were worried about being attacked and thinking ahead.
He felt his lips curl into a small, amused smirk.
âI have my ways of figuring out what happens throughout my castle without being present.â
It was through his close connection with Castlevania, really.
Thanks to his connection, he was able to loosely figure out just who had tampered with your potions. Needless to say, it wasnât hard to get the two witches to admit it, with how weak willed they were.
His castle was now a few witches less. Not that it mattered.
It wasnât all of them, he was sure. Dracula still had a bit of investigating to do. The two he disposed of were just the ones who admitted to it, and Dracula could tell more were involved. No doubt he would be busy later looking further into the matter.
Some certainly werenât happy with him, but alas, that was what happened when you attempted to hurt those he was protecting.
You seemed a bit skeptical, or perhaps curious?
âUm⊠Is it through the power of Chaos you can?â
As soon as you asked it, a worried look appeared on your face.
âUh, if that isnât too personal of a question, I meanâŠ?â
He almost wanted to laugh. You were trying to be respectful, unsure if that was too much information to ask for.
âTrying to figure out a way to one up your enemy, hm?â He asked, though his lips ticked upwards in a full grin, clearly teasing you. Dracula could tell that wasnât what you meant.
âNo! Thatâs not what I-! I didnât- fuck, I mean-â
It was adorable how you sputtered, and tried to catch your words to apologize.
âRelax, Iâm only teasing you. Yes, itâs partially through the power of Chaos. Though Castlevania itself is bound to my very soul. Not much gets past me, should the castle alert me about it.â
You instantly relaxed at his words, and seemed to perk up in interest.
Once again, your eyes flickered to the bottle in your hand.
âIs that how you found out the last potion was poisoned?â
Dracula hummed, leaning back in the chair.
âNo. One of my Alchemists alerted me to the fact several witches were discussing how they were⊠unhappy about your presence. I decided to check on the potion early, even if it was finished. I simply had my castle assist me in finding out who had done it.â
Silence filled the room once more. It seemed you were unsure what you wanted to say next.
After a beat passed, you looked back at him.
âThank you, then. For checking. And for giving this to me.â
Your voice was soft, as was your smile.
If Dracula still breathed, he just knows his breath would have caught in his throat.
That was a smile that was worth protecting.
After you thanked him, you brought the bottle to your lips, and began to drink down the potion.
The effect was almost immediate. Even if he couldnât see most of your wounds, he could see how you changed.
You no longer favored one side, leaning oddly to the left. Nor did you hold your arm as close as before. In fact, your body seemed to relax even further, now that the worst of the injuries were finally repairing from the magic treatment.
When you finished the drink, you pulled the bottle away from your lips, a disgusted look on your face presumably due to the taste. You coughed for a moment, and shook your head a bit.
After gathering your bearings, you then looked back up to Dracula, and truly smiled.
For once, you looked happy. You looked alive.
Yes, Dracula thought. Pursuing a future where you two donât have to fight, would be one worth aiming for, just to see you smile once more.

It breaks my heart whenever I see a writer/artist apologizing like, "I'm sorry I haven't updated/posted anything new lately. I've been sick/depressed/going through stuff. I think I need to slow down/some time off."
My dears, first of all, I hope you're okay and that things get better.
Secondly, you don't owe anything and you don't have to meet an activity quota to be on this site or in this fandom. Just be. Preferably be happy and healthy.

summary: people are being kidnapped and tested, and one day, you wake up with the startling realization that you're next. luckily, your captor releases you after something about you reminds him a little too much of himself.

also, i wrote this a month ago and haven't been able to title it! i've also had to rewatch parts of s5 bc i was so confused the first time around. this takes place before the chimeras start dying / when they're still being tested on and all that.
A dark cloth is pulled tightly around your head, and your hands are bound in rope. A metal pole supports your back, though it is uncomfortable between your shoulder blades. Two of your senses are rendered useless, forcing you to rely on the other three for support. Unfortunately, they aren't much help in a situation like this.
You sigh. There's no telling how long you've been here. You know you've faded in and out of consciousness three times now. This is the first time you've fully woken up and realized how endangered you actually are.
Even with the blindfold, you know you're in the dark. The hard and cold ground suggests a garage, storage building, or maybe even down in the tunnels, is where you're being kept. Who knows? A pill was forced down your throat the minute you were grabbed, your kidnapper rendering you completely unable to fight.
Speaking of which... Your kidnapper...
You wonder who they are. It's probably the doctors; they've been damning people for weeks now. Turning humans into creatures and throwing them back out into the world. Killing them if they're failures, but doing more tests if they seem to succeed.
Fear shoots down your spine as you realize you're next. You're captured, you must be their next test. You struggle against the ropes, but there's no give.
A heavy door is pushed to the side, and footsteps make their way towards you. You stop fighting immediately and prepare for the worst.
Someone crouches in front of you close enough that you can hear their breathing. They're calm in a way that horrifies you. They're not here to save you. No, no one knows you're here. No one is coming to save you.
You're startled by a gentle touch as two hands meet the sides of your head. Your blindfold is pulled down slowly, finally revealing the person on the other side. Their identity shocks you; a chill ices your body.
"You."
He sighs, glancing at the floor. "Sorry about this, Y/N. You're the one they wanted most."
"Really? And when'd you become their little errand boy, Theo? I thought you wanted Scott to trust you. Thought you wanted to be a part of his pack."
"it's all about survival, Y/N. There is a war, and I am loyal to whom I think will come out on top."
"You're wrong. The bad guys always lose, even if not in ways you'd expect. You will lose."
"Have that much faith in Scott, now do you? I don't see him coming to save you. You're all alone here. There's no getting out." You gulp visibly before you can stop yourself. "How's that for being the loser?"
"You're sick."
"Maybe. But at least I'm a realist."
You roll your eyes, looking away from him. Right now, his face is pissing you off just to see it. Two days ago, you'd admit you thought the little fucker was hot, but now, he's just a pain in your ass.
"Whatever," you snap, "have it your way. Just make it fast if you're going to kill me."
"Baby, if you've been following along, I'm not killing anyone. And the doctors aren't yet either. They're testing you all."
"For what? And don't 'baby' me."
He smiles. "To make the perfect monster. The best one for the cause."
"Which is?"
"Can't say."
"You're insufferable."
"And you're adorable when you're mad."
"Ugh!"
Theo takes a deep breath, then unties the cloth that was once around your eyes. He reaches around the side to undo the ropes, working at them for a good thirty seconds before unraveling the strongly-made knot.
"I do mean it when I say I'm sorry. Wish they picked anyone else, but they said you were special."
"I don't care, Theo. I already know this is the end for me. You're just drawing it out."
He slouches his shoulders before taking your wrists in his hands. He sits up on his knees, prepared to pull you up with him, but stops suddenly. Even in the darkness, the chimera can see the scars. Thin, white lines decorating the skin on your wrists. Some are more faded than others, but others look more recent. He stares at them for a moment, while you remain none the wiser, avoiding his gaze.
For a second, he's transported back to his childhood - kidnapped by the doctors at an early age, forced to undergo tests and experiments, and to live under their care. Forgotten by his family and haunted by his sister. The doctors didn't know how to raise a child, but they clearly didn't care. The torment he suffered still hurts every passing day, and even now, in Beacon Hills again, the pain hasn't ceased.
Theo bears plenty of scars of his own. Some are made by the doctors, some he brought on himself. It took him years to learn to not hate his body, to see the scars as a reminder that he's a survivor, not a failure.
His are littered around his body in places not well seen. The first time one of the doctors discovered them, he was punished accordingly. It's as if they're the only ones allowed to abuse him; how dare he bring it upon himself.
Theo looks at your scars and wonders what trauma is buried beneath them. What are you hiding? What emotional pain lies under the physical? Who knows your secrets, if anyone? It's none of his business, so he doesn't ask, but he closes his hands over your wrists and gulps.
"Run."
You look back at him, then at your clasped hands. "What?"
"Run. Run far from here and don't look back. Follow the pipes on the left side of the wall, and let them take you back above ground. Don't tell Scott anything I told you, it will only get you hurt. Just run, and don't let the doctors find you."
"Wait, why? I don't understand."
Theo pushes your hands into your chest and finally releases them. Fear floods through you as realization hits. He's seen you, seen your wrists, and your scars, and he's taking pity on you. But... he's letting you go.
"Just go, Y/N!" He yells in a whisper. "Go, before they come back. Any minute now, they're expecting you."
You scramble to your feet and look towards the pipes. The pipes on the left lead out, he said.
"But what about you?" You don't know why you ask. You don't know why you care. But, something deep inside you does.
"I'll be fine, I'll make up a lie. Just go!"
And so finally, you take off in the direction he points, still a little confused, but incredibly grateful.
Maybe there is some good in him. Maybe he's just as manipulated by the doctors as the rest of the chimeras. Maybe there's hope for him after all.

Have not been saying much for a while because everything is hard.
I. My BiL has had c diff three times now and after the third time the oncologist decided to take a damn the torpedoes approach because they were wasting weeks that should have been devoted to chemo because he was too sick and too weak to withstand outpatient treatment. I haven't seen him irl since December but my mom says he looks rough and if his immune system is so messed up that he keeps getting c diff idk that I really want to visit him. What if I get him sick?
All of this is background to me, though, because mostly I'm invested in my sister. She wants to divorce him. He needs to be better enough that she won't face ostracization for doing so. I am invested in him getting better enough for that to proceed for her sake.
II. Something about my relationship with my mom has been bothering me and I finally figured out what it is: everything is equally important to her. She doesn't prioritize anything. If I am having a tough time and ask for help she'll say "well I'm busy every day this week but I can come over next week in Thursday for ninety minutes" and then when she comes over I ask her what she was up to, both to make conversation and because I'm nosy, and it's like... she volunteered for a clothing drive at the synagogue. She went grocery shopping. She went to a farmer's market. Thanks for fitting me into your schedule, I guess! Glad to know I am on the same level as farm fresh tomatoes.
III. I have been having a really tough time of it for the last few months. The vacation in Mexico was... Not restful. Shane had a seizure on the plane and I spent the first two days managing logistics related to that (and navigating the extra ~$2k I spent covering his medical costs while on the trip). His back is still fucked up almost two months later and so I get to do extra housework and chores because he can't lift or bend without being in pain.
IV. Resultant to III, I had a really awful period of about a month with an online friend who started being super short and terse with me because I've been around online less. It was really clear he felt like I was ditching him to go hang out with my cool friends or something, instead of the reality of the situation: I'm cleaning litter boxes and doing yard work and changing the sheets on the bed aka #livingthedream. I told him about all the stuff that was going on but it was clear he didn't believe me or resented my absence nevertheless. This came to a head with me basically texting him an essay about why he was being a bad friend. In a turn of good news, he listened, and apologized, and we mended fences. That was nice because I just don't know how much more bad news I can take right now.
V. I've been struggling with work but really it's just. My boss. My coworkers like me. My project sponsors like me. My skip level likes me. My exec likes me. It's just him. We don't have a good relationship and I don't know how to fix it. I don't know that it is fixable. This is a problem because this is the guy I need in my corner to advance my career and I don't know that he'll do that for me. The alternative is leaving my company, which sounds attractive on paper but in practice the job market is so so bad and it's just so discouraging. The idea of a new job sounds incredible. I wish I could do that. Maybe even a career change.
VI. Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen because of financial pressures. NGL, as much as I like my house (and I do -- I love its little windows, I love my pink dining nook and green bedroom, I love the mature fruit trees and pretty backyard full of wildflowers), I wish i had the cash in hand, instead. I feel trapped here, and like I'm making the most of it. That's a shit feeling to have.
VII. I've started regaining weight. Not a lot. Fifteen pounds since October. But it's scaring me. It's making me wonder if this whole surgery thing was pointless because I can't seem to stop myself from wanting to eat myself to death. So I'm trying to beat it back without resorting to "diet culture behaviors" (read: disordered eating) and that's tough.
There could be a separate post for things that are going well perhaps, but this is what's going not so well and it feels like a lot. Sometimes it feels like too much.

Summary: The younger sister of Rhysand, sick from her birth finally gets her chance to work as a courtier for her older brother. On her first mission she meets Helion, the lord of the day court, the two hitting it off and becoming attached at the hip. But maybe there's another reason the two are pulled towards each other.

It was the solstice when they met, the small frail sheltered sister of Rhysand and the High lord of the Day Court.
 The war had been over for nearly six months now and it was the first large celebration that had been held since. Emissaries, Courtiers, Representatives of all varieties were here at a party in Summer Court on Tarquinâs pleasure yacht. When Helion had spotted the smaller unfamiliar member of the inner circle talking to Rhysand. If you asked him, Helion wouldnât know what compelled him to go over and speak to the two, maybe it was just curiosity, maybe it was something else that ached and throbbed deep in his chest.Â
As Helion approached he caught Rhysandâs attention first who greeted him quickly, he watched as Rhys placed a firm hand on the smaller femaleâs shoulder a sign that seemed to cause the smaller one to relax. Helion held a wine goblet in one hand and extended his free hand out to the small female.
 âHelion, High Lord of the Day Court,â Once the quite smaller hand was placed in his he brought it to his lips placing a kiss to the knuckles there. âIt's a pleasure to meet you my dear.â He looked up at the now flustered female through his lashes.Â
The smaller fae cleared her throat before introducing herself, trying to push away any embarrassment or fluster that would come out in her voice, Helion was an attractive male and he knew it, oozed it. âIt's a pleasure to meet you as well my lord, I've heard many stories from my brothers.âÂ
The two continued easy back and forth chatter leaving Rhysand to dismiss himself from the conversation with the excuse of finding Feyre and Nyx. Both found the flow of conversation easy, Helion offering to show the other around the boat and introduce him to anyone that might be of importance.
âSo I take it you're close with Rhysand he seemed to offer a kind of comfort to you, apologies if I'm asking too personal of a question.â Helion took a sip from his wine glass and glanced down at the small female that was just taller than his elbow.Â
âActually heâs my brother! Not in the way Cassian and Azriel are brothers with Rhys, no we actually had the same parents. I'm just years younger than them, I was 10 when Rhys took over as High lord.â The female looked up at the taller one smiling brightly. It caught Helionâs attention how bold and brightly she showed her emotions in comparison to Rhys.
âThen if you don't mind my curiosity why haven't I seen you around? Especially during high lord meetings or on the battlefield even?â The Brunette asked but immediately regretted it as the female seemed to deflate.
âI was born incredibly sick, I was months early and my mother was incredibly sick the entire time she carried me. So in my younger years I was rarely allowed out of the house, my father constantly calling in healers for me. I had many near death experiences when I was younger, if I caught even a cold it was cause for worry. So when the title of High Lord passed to Rhysand he was incredibly protective of me as well. So I just rarely left the House of Wind, spent all my time in the library learning as much as I could about politics, strategies, anything I could to help my brother. In recent years since the war stopped he's let me act as a courtier. This is my first big gathering where I'm getting the privilege of actually working.â She seemed to slowly light back up as she rambled, Helion smiled to himself finding it cute, almost innocent and took a sip of wine.
âCongratulations are in order then, It sounds like youâve earned it. Let me buy you a drink from the bar as a gift for your new title?â Helion placed his hand on the other's lower back and led her to the bar. âWhat's your poison my dear?â

Thatâs how the twoâs friendship started anyways, nowadays they often exchanged letters and sought out each other's company at parties. Drinking and laughing with each other throughout the night. Which leads to now the smallest of the inner circle holed up in her room trying on various dresses for her newest mission: Attend Helionâs eclipse party and represent Night Court. Rhysand had his hand busy with war camp issues and was unable to attend himself, she would be attending this one by herself.
She stood in front of her floor-length mirror, holding a black and gold lace maxi dress against her frame, gold strappy heels set on the floor by the edge of her bed. The dress was a gift from Mor, all the blonde had said to her was âTrust me, youâll thank me later.â before she disappeared back to wherever she had appeared from.Â
The dress was a bit more revealing than she was used to, having a sheer section that covered her midriff and had gold feather and plant lace details on it. A large slit that would reach almost to her hip on the right side. Her face was flushed as she fought with her own thoughts on if the dress would be appropriate to wear in Helion and other High Lordâs company due to the plunging V neck it had as well.
She was pulled from her thoughts as a note popped into existence with a faint soft white glow, a note from Helion. She laid the dress against the bed and grabbed the note from the air and smiled as she untied the soft pale yellow ribbon that held it closed. She walked over to the padded couch leaning back on it and pulling her knees under her as she read the finely written letter. From the way Helion wrote she could tell he was excited about the upcoming party asking her things like âWhat color will you be wearing? That way i can have a piece of accent jewelry that will compliment it so we dont clash standing next to each otherâ and âI simply cannot wait to see you my dear, i have the funniest story about those two high fae that were at my last party who we found sneaking off together even though they were married to others!â. She smiled to herself reading over a particular sentence multiple times, âThose tea cakes from the last time you visited the cheesecake ones, you favored that flavor over the other ones right? I wanted there to be something special for you.â It caused her heart to flutter, he wanted there to be something special for her?
The house summoned a quill, ink, and paper onto her coffee table, and she thanked the house quietly as she began to write back to him in a curling fancy scrawl taking time to show her appreciation for his care. As she finished the note by making stars as the dots above her Iâs, she stood and pulled a small silver ribbon from her side table to tie the note shut, willing it back to Helion. Reassured she picked the dress back up, holding it close to her again and spun watching as the edge of the skirt flared, she imagined dancing with Helion like she had done so many times before every time he managed to impress her with his talents and flair for the dramatics.
She hummed happily, setting the dress back down onto the bed and slipping into the attached bathing chamber, where steam rolled off the water filled with oils and bubbles. She rid herself of her morning clothes and slipped into the bath, thoughts drifting to how this evening would go and how Helion would look and act. It didn't take long before she felt her brother's talons scratching at her shields, she greeted him in her thoughts and was relieved when he wished her luck and told her not to have too much fun. Her face bloomed in red as she stumbled over her thoughts asking what Rhysand had meant by his comment. She felt his laugh echo in her thoughts with a simple âforgive me if i found the way you look at Helion to be like that of a female in love is allâ before he had wished her well and pulled away from her thoughts.Â
Even though her brother no longer remained in her thoughts, his words echoed there, âLike that of a female in loveâ she repeated his words in a hushed voice as her eyes widened. Did she love Helion? They had only known each other for almost a year now, was that enough time to fall in love with him? Yes she found herself sticking to his side more so than that of her own families at parties, but she argued that was because he made sure to include her in every conversation he had even if she knew nothing about the subject he made an attempt. Yes she cared about what the male thought about her looks, always making sure she was dressed to impress, but she would argue that it was always at a party and she had to look her part of her court. Then she thought about how much it meant to her that Helion had remembered her favorite tea cake from his court she had several parties ago. Fuck, she realized, i am in fact in love with him, Rhys was right.
She rose from the water, wrapping a fluffy towel around her body and moved back into the main portion of her room. The dress seemed to mock her now, like it was pointing out her effort to impress the dark-skinned male. Something registered to her then, what Mor had said âYouâll thank me laterâ what did she mean by that?
If it was obvious to Rhys that she was in love with Helion the rest of the inner circle must have known as well, so did that mean that Mor was gifting her a revealing dress like that trying to get her and Helion together? She sighed loudly sitting on the edge of the bed before leaning back into her fluffy comforter and covering her face groaning loudly. She didn't have time for this; she had to face the male in a few hours, now was not the time to get caught up in her own head.Â
After a few moments she rose from the bed and took the dress into her hands, looking closely at the intricate golden detailing of the lace, feathers and swirls like that of sun rays, Mor had to have picked the dress on purpose if not had it custom made entirely. She dropped the fluffy towel from around her body and moved over to pull on her black lace undergarments and the dress adjusting it on her body. She took a seat on the foot of her bed and pulled on the strappy gold heels Mor had brought with the dress, the ties reaching just below her knee in a small bow. She looked at herself in the mirror looking like a mix between the court she called home and day court, she released a shaky breath and moved to her vanity.
After a while she had settled on just some simple makeup and simple hair styling, looking herself over in the mirror of the vanity she picked up a golden necklace Helion had gifted her at their last party, a simple golden chain with a black crystal wrapped in golden swirls and clipped it around her neck. She stood and looked herself over in the floor-length mirror once again smoothing out her skirts, giving herself a small peptalk and rolling her shoulders she turned to make her way to the main hall of the house, where Mor always waited before she winnowed away to make sure every part of her outfit was perfect.
As she came down the stairs and rounded the corner of the hall into the living room Mor sat in her classic wine red dress, she looked up from her book when the smaller female had caught her attention. The blonde stood from the padded couch, eyes scanning the otherâs frame, her eyes locking on the small accent necklace. Her finger came out to toy with the small black crystal, her eyes sparkling as she took it in.Â
âThis,â she smirked. âThis is a nice touch. Helion gave you this at the last party you attended with him right? It's good, I like it, it ties the whole outfit together.â The blonde dropped the necklace back into place between her collar bones and turned.
The younger female nodded,âYeah he did, said it reminded him of me.â Mor smirked, brushing her hair over her shoulder as she moved back towards the couch.Â
âHave fun at the party hun, I would recommend staying there for the night if you have too many drinks Iâm sure Helion wouldn't mind you staying over, you two are practically attached at the hip.â Mor shrugged, moving her skirts out of her way as she resumed her spot on the couch.
The smaller nodded and made a small hum of acknowledgement as the blonde winked at her and blew her a kiss from her spot on the couch. âStay safe, love you!â was all the young female heard as she made her way out onto the balcony to fly herself to a spot she could winnow herself to Day Court.
 Much like her brothers her wings summoned themselves from the shadows weaving themselves into existence. However, unlike her brotherâs wings, they were much smaller causing her to tire easily and she only really ever used them to get between the balcony and the base of the stairs thanks to how much energy it exhausted to use them. As she threw herself into the air the chilling breeze reminded her of the night she had met Helion on the yacht, the way the chill of the sea breeze caused the tip of her nose to numb and the way Helion held her close so she wouldn't freeze. The way his eyes sparkled at the brightly colored fireworks that littered the star covered sky, and the way the artificial colors lit up his skin and caused him to smile as he took a sip of wine.Â
As she landed the closed eye smile the brunette male gave her when he asked if she had enjoyed her night stuck in her head. She took a few steps away from the steps, her wings unmaterialized back into the shadows, and took a sharp breath in as she shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts that plagued her mind since her brother's earlier words.
A dull ache settled itself into her shoulders and she rolled them back to loosen up the muscles there as her mind ventured to where she would be going. The world around her seemed to still as shadows folded themselves around her and through each other till no more light could be seen amongst them. Then as if a pressure had lifted from her the air becoming easier to breathe, the shadows unwound themselves from around her being and revealed the gorgeous scenery of the day court gardens.
Sunflowers towered over her and she heard a small laugh from behind her. She turned to be greeted by the tall male leaning against the doorway between the gardens and the castle-like manor Helion called home. He was dressed in a more intricately designed and patterned white and gold robe than he normally did, golden lace borders depicting suns and moons overlapping each other.Â
He took several brisk strides down the steps into the garden, taking her hand in his he spun her and pulled her into him in a waltz stance. âWell hello there darling, you never cease to impress.â He winked moving to nonexistent music with her.
She smiled falling into step with him, all thoughts of stress from earlier seeming to fall from her shoulders. âWell thank you my lord, you don't look too bad yourself.â She laughed as he dipped her before pulling her back up to stand.
âNot too bad? Oh, come on now I think I look spectacular!â He smiled brightly pulling her into a tight hug. âDid you miss me much?â
She snorted a little as she giggled âSure let's go with spectacular then, save your old man ego.â She wrapped her own arms around his waist best she could, head tucked under the tall maleâs chest. âOh, so so so much, I could hardly sleep without thinking about how much I missed you.â
The two fell into fits of laughter as his hands gripped her shoulders to hold her arm's length from him, his eyes scanning over the outfit and locking in on the necklace that sat snug between her collar bones. âThat's the necklace I got you the last time I saw you, my dear may i say you have excellent taste, I couldnât think of a better piece to tie your outfit together tonight darling.â
His hand came up to toy with the necklace as he smiled to himself, making a small hum like noise as his eyes sparkled slightly as light reflected off the small black crystal. Her face lit up as his hand fell to her lower back as he led her towards the large glass doorway. As they reached the top of the small stairs his hand fell from her back as he pushed the door open for her to pass through, she smiled softly and nodded in thanks coming to a stop past the doors waiting for Helion to catch back up.Â
It was a practiced movement at this point though every time he greeted her it was different. He greets her, leads her up the stairs, holds the door open for her, she waits for him on the other side and she takes his arm as they walk through the manor.
He slows his much larger gait to match her own stride, offering his arm to her which she loops her own arm in, the two falling into easy conversation and laughing on their small walk from the gardens to the main ballroom. She looked up at him smiling brightly as she watched his features scrunch up and he laughed loudly, she caught herself admiring the male's features and it clicked in her mind âthis is what Rhys meant by the look of a female in loveâ.Â
As the two neared the ballroom doors, soft enchanted piano music played and he slipped his arm from hers to hold the door open for her yet again. The scene revealed to her reminded her of books she had read in the library as a child, she had yet to see such an extravagantly decorated ballroom. As she took in her surroundings, her eyes widening, he smiled down at her and moved to step behind her; his hands coming to rest softly between her shoulders and her neck, his thumb rubbing against the back of her neck sending goosebumps through her body.Â
âYou like it?â he rubbed her shoulders gently. âI know I probably went a bit overboard but I thought I might as well, just in the party spirit.âÂ
She watched as servants moved around the ballroom putting on final touches, some closer to the two turning to acknowledge her and Helion with small curtseys, or bows, or even as simple as a nod. Helion pulled her towards one of the tables and pulled a soft white flower from the vase that sat there, bringing it to his nose to small it before reaching up to tuck it behind her ear.
A servant approached, dressed in a butler's outfit, apologizing for the interruption but informing Helion guests were starting to arrive and were awaiting him to greet them. As he bowed and stepped away he made a motion to dismiss the servants from the room as others dressed in less intricate butler outfits entered the room carrying various golden trays of food, champagne, and wine.Â
Helion smiled offering her his hand and nodded towards the door. âJoin me darling?âÂ
âOf course my lord, how could I ever deny your company?â She smiled and giggled, watching as his nose scrunched as he joined her in laughing at her sarcasm as she intertwined her own hand with his.
As the two made their way towards the grand hall doors they were approached by an older looking male, his once dark hair speckled with white throughout. Helion greeted the male, his current advisor she remembered, she had met him plenty of times and knew this was his last big party before he retired and Helion would be without a courtier for a bit. Helion had plenty of emissaries but only trusted the one man to act as an extension of himself, she knew for Helion this was bittersweet, the man had been his advisor since he became the high lord of this court.Â
Helion wished the man well in passing, the elder male patting the other on the shoulder, as he laughed and wished Helion the same with a wink. Helion smiled at him affectionately like one would a father or grandfather, and continued to escort her through the room where 2 guards stood waiting to open the doors for Helion, saluting him as he approached.Â
Helion tucked her close to his side and rolled his shoulders back, before nodding at the guards who turned and pulled the large doors open; Helion greeted the high fae that waited behind them with open arms, a grand welcoming gesture. He shook hands with several of them, the partners of those who spoke with Helion greeted you in turn. Some faces you recognized like the newest high lord of Autumn, Eris, you'd met him a couple times now at parties and saw through his mask much like that of your own brothers.
As the final couple of fae filed in, Helion offered you his arm and led you across the dancefloor to the dais, where the enchanted instruments played softly as Helion stepped into position to address the large crowd that gathered around the large room. He cleared his throat before straightening his posture and welcoming the room to the Solar Eclipse celebration.
He said a few more words and the crowd cheered, as he moved down the dais the music began to swell, and she looped her arm in Helionâs as was their little tradition. Like the first time they had met he led her around the large ballroom to meet people of importance, she smiled softly as Helion waved to Eris coming to stop beside the red headed male. She watched as some excited younger females pulled their partners onto the dance floor as a faster song began playing, she imagined Helion lifting and spinning her like the males spinning the excited females. Helion made a small, startled noise that brought her attention back to him, Eris himself slightly startled by Helion's sudden noise, Helion began fanning his own face that slowly bloomed into a darker color.Â
âIm fine, im fine sorry just got caught off guard by something.â He motioned for a nearby butler to bring him a goblet of wine, which he happily drank down the second it was in his hands.Â
She worriedly pressed a hand to Helionâs arm rubbing softly to sooth the male. Eris and Helion exchanged a few more words before the next song started and Helion asked for the fiery maleâs pardon, who smiled and turned to leave with a small, âof courseâ.Â
Helion turned to her, swallowing a breath back down and offering her a hand. âMay I have this dance my dear?â He smiled softly as a few more couples joined the dance floor as the music finished fading and took a second before a new song slowly began to swell.
She smiled back at him before nodding and placing her hand on top of his. âHow could I say no to a gentleman like yourself.â
The dark-haired male led her to the center of the dancefloor, the other couples moving to accommodate their lord and his partner. The two fell easily into step with the song and the rest of the dancers, a fast-paced waltz almost. Helion held her close to his body as they pranced around the dance floor, the smaller of the two looking up at him with an adoring look in her eyes, a similar expression on the male's face. As Helion pulls her back into him after a spin one of her hands lands on his upper arm and she giggled softly to herself, enjoying her time in his arms she noticed how his hand slowly drifted lower on her back.
âSo, you told me you had more on the story of those two fae we caught, spill it.â She giggled up at him as he spun her away from him and pulled her back into him, her back against his chest.
Helion laughed for a split second âTurns out they had just found out their mates,â he stilled for a split second as the word sunk in and the music began picking up slowly. âJust brought their divorce paperwork in for their spouse's last week.â His voice was slightly colder, and it faltered a little bit like he was lost in thought.
She was spun in his arms again, her eyes finding his and noticing how he seemed a little distant though as his eyes found hers, he was brought back into the moment. âHow lucky they must be, I almost seem to envy them,â she looked away to the crowd as the music began to swell towards a crescendo. âI mean, what I would give to find my mate; I watch my brothers with theirs and I'm just constantly surrounded by it. It would be nice to have that for myself.â
She didn't catch the way he swallowed or how his eyes lingered on her lips, as the music crescendoed one final time and Helion pulled her into him, dipping her towards the floor with one arm. Had she seen that she might not have been caught off guard for a split second when Helion's hair curtained her face from the world, his hand coming up to rest on her cheek as he pulled her into a fervent and passionate kiss. As he felt her tense up in his hold, he pulled away his eyes searching hers, the entire ballroom quiet in suspense. He watched as tears brimmed her eyes, as they widened like she had realized something; he stood her up from the dip worried, quickly being caught off guard as she jumped into his arms pressing a kiss to his own lips.
He pulled her closer, the dull ache that had once settled into his chest suddenly flooded with emotion as he felt all of her own emotions. âYou feel the bond now? I was scared for a second you didnât and that I was going to scare you off with that kiss.â Helionâs hands shook slightly as they settled on the small femaleâs waist, the ballroom erupting into cheers.
She nodded rapidly, sending a calming emotion down the bond to him. âI do Helion, how long have you known and kept it secret?â Her hand found the male's cheek and he pressed back into it.
âI guess Iâve known since I saw you that night on the yacht, something about you called to me but I just assumed it was curiosity at seeing a new face around. Thank the Mother I was wrongâ He tugged on the bond just to test it and smiled as he felt her tug back.
âYes, thank the Mother indeed, and the Cauldronâ She pulled him into another kiss. The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves as a magical hum invaded the air.
Helion looked up to the ceiling watching as the large glass observatory dome began opening revealing the solar eclipse that was beginning to cross the sky. The room darkened and a ring of light around the two lit up around them, a mesmerized whisper was heard across the ballroom and Helion pulled her into a kiss. As he pulled her into the kiss she felt a warmth against her chest, as she pulled away from the kiss, she noticed the small black crystal of her necklace had lit up revealing a small moon and sun etching inside of it. Helion smiled as he watched her eyes sparkle, as she realized why he had gifted her that necklace. He swiped some hair behind her ear and leaned close, pressing their foreheads together gently.
âYou know what they say darling, the moon only glows when it's kissed by the sun, trust me you'll be glowing every time i see you from now on.â
âFuck, I have to tell Rhys he was right.â The two erupted into laughter while holding the other close.Â
There was much to be handled now that they both were aware of the bond that had snapped in place, but that was a problem for the next morning. For now, however, the two could be content in each other's arms, drinking and laughing the night away.
