You know how like, really old clay tablets are a Thing and is the reason we know a bunch of stuff from how things were, thousands of years ago?

I keep thinking, in a couple of thousand years, what will be left of the world we live in today? Paper won't last ... Neither will digital storage. Metal, yes probably. Plastic? I don't know.

Anyway, I've been thinking we should put important things on clay tablets, because obviously those things last!

So today I made a couple. Just cause. And what did I put on them? What is important enough to save for the Future?

as a fandom old it is kind of funny to see how Baldur's Gate 3 is going through the same fandom phases as like Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

We are now firmly on the discourse path (after having been through the happy endings and kids phase) and Larian gets shit from all sides, characters are reduced to bare bones in fandom discussions, shipping certain ships is controversial, liking certain characters is controversial and/or mainstream, bisexuality does not exist...

Have we already crossed into "you are a bad human being for liking xyz" yet?

Okay tumblr veterans, help me understand because I guess I just don't understand how tumblr likes work.

A friend (herself a tumblr veteran from those pre-dashcon days) told me it's like a combination of a traditional "like" button (communicating acknowledgement and appreciation to the poster) and also reddit's save button (so I can come back and view it later) but clearly it isn't that exactly.

Let's say I come across a post. One of my mutuals reblogged a post and added some commentary. I like it. When I check my fathomless repository of likes, there it is:

(Mutual (OP) mutual's comments)

Then let us say some blog reblogs my mutual's reblog, and then someone else reblogs that reblog such that we have something like:

(Reblog2 (Reblog1 (Mutual (OP) mutuals comments) reblog1's comments) reblog2's comments).

Why is it when I stumble upon this version, with it's two additional contributions, it also shows that I liked it? I did not like this version. Nor will this version be the one locked away in my like-bunker. So why is that heart red, eh?

This frustrates me to no end, because the only way to save this new version for quick retrieval later is to unlike and re-like the post, which removes the first version from my dragon's hoard of likes and gives me this new version in exchange. I want both dagnabbit!

I'm an old bbcode forum user (zetaboards and proboards anyone?) and newish redditor (2017-2023). Those are really my only prior experience. I just don't understand this website sometimes. Help an old Martian learn your inscrutable Earthling ways.

Met a bunch of new people tonight at two different events.

At the first event of the evening, I announced that I'd just lost my job and got cheers and a round of applause from some lovely ladies.

At the second event, I did the same and got a bunch of high fives from a flock of gay men, and a Catholic priest toasted me with his prosecco.

Rather a jolly way to wrap up an eventful and overwhelming week.

I have read that the latest denial is to make the GP focus on Louis by association with H.

While I can understand why tabloids and magazines do it for clicks, I am not entirely sure it is doing any good for Lou and his ticket sales or for recognition.

Am I the only one who would like him to be recognised for his talent, for his uniqueness and for the gift that he shares through his music and lyrics - and not through association with another fantastic singer, just because of conspiracies on their relationship?
