I've been looking for a better way to articulate this and I don't have one so here goes.

I don't even care if a BioWare game has shitty roleplaying dialogue. It's happened before, it's not really a big deal. I don't play BioWare games because I want an RPG, (I mean I do want RPGs omg I fucken love RPGs, but) I play a BioWare game for the romance sim disguised as an RPG experience. And if the romance is stub and lackluster....

Why do you care so much about Lily Orchard

Actually getting this a little backwards. I took notice of Lily Orchard as an individual earlier this year, back in January to March, when she was listed amongst a series of trans creators that are unfairly scrutinized. As she was the only one who had a Tumblr at the time I began following her because I wanted to basically spite transphobes. I've come under fire myself for being trans in the past.

What I discovered in the months I followed her is that she had awful takes and was really dismissive and sometimes outright mean to her fans. I went to a live stream or two, and I watched a couple videos. I soon became critical of her, and decided to do some research. This lead me to Hiding in Private and Sai Scribbles. At the time, I was focused on Lily being a bad YouTuber, both in terms of content and how she treated her fans.

I knew that no one else was going to cover her video on the Coffin of Andy and Leyley because most people dismiss this gothic horror game as problematic and incestuous. As a fan of the genre and the game itself I decided to cover the video. Then as a spur of the moment decision at the end of that stream I decided to cover her latest Kingdom Hearts video as well. This would turn into a an edited video later on where I was very insistant on not focusing on Lily's actions and the allegations. I was mostly concerned with her rhetoric and behaviour as a YouTuber, because I had been wanting to talk about media analysis for a long time. As you can see from my coverage on MatPat, Anita Sarkiseen, Anthony Gramgulia, and iDubbbz. I think there is something fundamentaly flawed with the way the modern internet analyzes media. Each of these individuals has contributed negatively to this rhetoric in their own way, but where people like Anthony and iDubbbz and even Sarkiseen have tried to improve (and in Anthony's case a large reason for the majority of his writing that is worthy of criticism was how he was editorialized by the publications he worked for) Lily has always doubled down and gotten worse. Moreover my biggest issue with Lily right now is how she interacts with her fandom, which is unique to her. She has been publically very sexual towards them, she encourages anti-intellectualism, has a history of abuse, so yeah that definitely is a factor. My last two videos were less about her media analysis and more about how she interacts with her audience and the world around her. I think people like Lily are dangerous.

I don't hate everyone I cover. I'm friends with Anthony and I like his videos and style of writing. He's not perfect but he's also very open to criticism. iDubbbz I'm not a big fan of but for the most part I'm fairly indifferent to. MatPat's videos while I'm highly critical of them, are somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me and I've been watching him since he released his first Starfox video. Sarkiseen I am more critical of but acknowledge she was one of the first people to make videos about feminism in modern media on the scale she was doing it. I wouldn't say anything these people are doing is dangerous.

If Lily was just some woman on the internet with a bad opinion then I probably wouldn't care. It's Lily's control over such a large number of people that worries me. Dismantling her rhetoric is how we show the people she has control over a way out. It's how we teach people that have been trained to turn their brain off that they should think for themselves. Videos like Joon the King's covering her allegations are important don't get me wrong, but unless we teach people to think for themselves, they're just going to fall for the next grifter to come along. The crux of the matter is that no one person should dictate what your opinion is based on how big of a fan you are of them. This problem is so much bigger than Lily. Lily just represents this issue to such a large degree.

Knowledge and Power

I've been thinking about this for a while. They are in Vasselheim now, Is the Horn of Orcus ok? Has it been unsealed? Did someone manage to sneakily steal it when the solstice happened? I NEED TO KNOW MATTHEW!!! I'm mid episode 104. I know we have a lot going on right now, but Matt keeps dropping hints about what's happening elsewhere in the world, like Desirat being released from their prison, all of Vasselheim's dead rising, stuff like that. I need to know about the Horn! Come on Matt, give us a problem for Campaign 4! lol. It's great storytelling, fleshing out the reality that Bells Hells are one group of many fighting the good fight and a lot of shit is currently on fire right now. I've loved every bit of it.

The Horn of Orcus was also the first and most prominent time the concept of dangerous knowledge came up in the game. Not just in a "knowledge is power" way, but in that, by knowing the information you are giving power to something bad and opening yourself up to trouble, literally just by possessing the knowledge in your brain. It's such an interesting concept to explore in a magic setting. How knowledge and worship and power intertwine.

I myself am very anti-censorship Irl, but the very rare times it's justified in my opinion are for things like recipes for horrific biological or chemical weapons, stuff like that. That concept can be broadened in the context of magic, like in C2 when reading that book gave Beau and Caleb magic eye herpes lmfao. Usually I am very much on the freedom of information side of things, so Ludinus threatening to share information was a bit of a meh threat to me personally at first. While it would be very disruptive in the short term, and people may indeed kill each other over it, I do think historical truths should be freely disseminated, not hidden for fear that people are too stupid to handle it. (Even though people ARE often too stupid to handle it, we have a right to our own stupidity I feel).

What I'm wondering is if Ludinus is making a subtler play than they are imagining. Yes divide and conquer is a good tactic, and that information will help him get people disagreeing. But more than that, shaking the faith of mass swathes of people all at once CAN'T be good for a Godly constitution. I don't think it's just about swaying people to his cause, I think he's trying to strategically weaken the God's power base before the big throw down with Predathos. Kind of like what Vecna did/ tried to do in late C1. So stopping Ludinus from sharing this information might end up being VERY important in the grand scheme of things.

Yes people already knew the Gods destroyed Aeor, and I think it was even known that the Primes and Betrayers formed a temporary truce to handle the threat. But knowing that information academically and seeing it firsthand are two VERY different things. Seeing the Primes care about and bicker with the Betrayers like... well...siblings, may come as a slap in the face to the truly devout. Also how many people actually knew that about Aeor or that Aeor even existed? Not everyone is proficient in history nor religious studies. Not to drag this too much into the real world, but how many religious people actually read whatever book they claim faith in cover to cover and know the whole history of it? It's definitely not all of them lol.

I bet there's plenty of religious people in Exandria that don't know shit about Aeor. Most people in Vasselheim probably would, because that place is THE God city on Exandria and survived the Calamity, but everywhere else? Unless they were specifically interested in religious history, why would they know it? So the reveal has the potential to be very impactful still, both for it's visceral feeling in exposing a peak into the God's relationships, and their deeds, and it will still be new info for some.

Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call!! I actually discovered ordering the game from the UK with shipping was actually cheaper than ordering the American version of the game, there were no major differences that I could tell as they still had the original English voice actors.

I enjoyed this game!! Not my top favorite installment but I still had a great time and loved the new characters. The puzzles were well designed and had nice scaled difficulty and the mini games were really neat too. The Eternal Diva references were so blatant lmfao but I’m excited for Miracle Mask! I was also super exhausted when writing the summary so sorry there’s so many errors and I use the word fun a million times ToT

Summary

This was such a fun origin story for Luke and Layton. Very much a classic Layton game with world ending machinery and gorgeous environment design. I really liked both Emmy and Descole, there’s a more serious undertone than with Don Paolo as the main villain (even though I do love Don Paolo). Emmy is amazing!! I was afraid she would be sidelined like Flora was but I’m glad to she stands her ground and does what she wants to do. I alos like how we got to go on our own adventure as her to London, she’s a character that doesn’t need to rely on Hershel to solve everything. Meeting Luke was great, loved his blank stare. It was fun seeing his origins and how Clark and Hershel knew each other. I’m curious how the prequels will play into the New World of Steam, especially now that Luke’s family have stories and sprites (unlike in the original trilogy). Loved the ACAB story, v nice to play while I’m still so mad at what’s happening to university students currently. Descole was so fun, I am obsessed with his outfit and personality. Unfortunately I was spoiled on who he is but I’m very excited to learn more. I think similar to Ace Attorney, the fourth installment is that last game in the classic 2D style, which is sad but PLvsPW makes me very hopeful about 3D Layton. The overall story was fun, I really liked the sub plot about the Ravens - that was really fun (i was so tired writing this omfg). I wish we got a little more backstory on the rich guy who died, I feel like there’s more to the story. OO I loved the little episodes, especially the one about Chelmey. They added a lot of fun context and gave more life to the NPCs. Such a fun and classic Layton game, I can’t wait to play Miracle Mask! (And read the light novels). This wasn’t my favorite Layton game but I still really loved it and had a great time and loved the puzzles — that’s all I want from PL!

This Blog's Purpose

This blog is going to serve as two things: a compendium of all knowledge relating to Relan, a planet of my own design with its own history, religions, sciences, magics, and more, as well as a collection of stories about the people living on Relan. I am 100% okay with OCs. If someone likes my world enough to make a character to throw into it, that is, to me, the ultimate compliment.

Hey y'all! Loved the new episode, and wanted to chip in on one of the later points - videogames, especially in relation to the "Grey" Jedi concept. Knights of the Old Republic II really did some irreversible damage in that regard, as much as I love the game (though I prefer the first one). Kreia is one of the most central characters in regard to shifting morality debates in Star Wars (in universe and from fans alike) imo, and I'd honestly be super interested in hearing you three cover either or both of the games in the podcast, although I understand that's highly unlikely since none of you have played them. But she is extremely relevant to this topic because she preaches about neutrality and that there's more than just ~dogmatic thinkings of light and dark~, and your relationship with her suffers if you are kind and altruistic and get too rooted in the light side and she's like...one of *the* characters that kind of gets credited with developing a "grey" philosophy in-universe? But people always bring her up as if she's this great point of sensible consideration and not actually, as it turns out, a master manipulator trying to purge the Force from the galaxy (or something like that at least? It's been a while since my last playthrough lol) that lies to you all the time to get you to do what she wants (because she was so crazy bananas both the Jedi and the Sith said "no thank u :)" - well, with a bit more nuance but you get the gist). Really, it's a bit like people falling for Palpatine's anti-Jedi points all over how they talk about her philosophic arguments without bringing that up. But yeah, I thought you might be interested in that. Also, I think KotOR might be what people meant with being able to unlock Dark Side powers as a Light sider but you are absolutely correct that it's a mechanics vs story issue (especially since some powers are indeed alignment-locked AND making dark side choices does impact the character (apart from story, ending and relationships to your party members). It's a bit of a simplistic gimmick, of course, but the further you get into the Dark Side on the alignment, the more it's visible - sickly skin colour, cracks in the skin and flesh, your eyes change...stuff like that. I don't think using Dark Side powers actually pushes you further down the alignment, but the intent is obviously not for Light Siders to mix and match however they like).

Anyway, I'm so sorry for rambling on for so long, but I thought you (or someone, at least :D ) might appreciate that additional info. Keep up the good podcasting! :)

This is all really interesting! I've read a few metas about the Star Wars video games and the characters within them which is partly why I chose to briefly include them in the episode (and also because I am familiar with Jedi: Survivor which has its own "dark side" mechanic for the main character that was relevant to the discussion). Aside from Jedi: Survivor, I wasn't necessarily referencing any one specific video game, I assume it's probably a thing that's come up more than once.

As far as my reaction to Kreia goes, just based on your description of her, the idea of there being "too much light" just isn't how Lucas's own worldbuilding worked. It's clearly trying to hit on the idea of "balance" being equal amounts of light and dark usage, as opposed to balance being acknowledging darkness EXISTS (in yourself and in the universe) in order to keep yourself from acting on it. There just isn't a way to be "too light" or something like that, there's never "too much" kindness and compassion and selflessness in the world. In this sense, the video games are just going to fall into the same category as the rest of legends and EU stuff, in that they often just do their own thing based on their own interpretations of Star Wars, but it doesn't mean it actually fits with what Lucas himself was trying to get across about the philosophy of the Force and the Jedi in his own stories, and that's primarily what we're using as a base to discuss Star Wars from.

If any of us ends up playing KOTOR, we can certainly try to bring it up more often. I don't think we have any plans of doing more video game stuff currently, but if the KOTOR remake ever comes to pass, maybe I will!

How does the general population feel about Luz taking over as Empress?

GOD this is such a good question. had to sit on it for a few days to ponder. am STILL pondering honestly. and if i end up writing proper fic set after the transition everything i say here will likely be scrapped and/or retooled but

the first question is what luz's reputation is outside the castle BEFORE belos dies. inside the actual castle she has a reputation for eccentricity and being very weird and saying weird shit and being impossible to read due to her chaotic personality.

(she isn't even TRYING to be a Crazy Unpredictable Eccentric type. but it manages to work in her favor because no one fukkin knows what her Deal is)

she has spent very very very little time outside the palace though, and when she HAS been outside she hasn't interacted much one-on-one with the general population. so i think that it's likely that the belos propaganda machine has worked, i think he probably made an active effort to establish luz as The Chosen Human Here To Save The Realm According To The Titan's Will because.... he's an asshole enamored with colonialism and cultural genocide. and this is a great way to cement a human supremacist legacy in the isles or whatever, without ever outing HIMSELF as human

after belos's death there's about a week of extremely public succession-oriented events and whatnot that luz navigates as carefully as she can. she already KNOWS that she puts her foot in her mouth when talking to people, so i imagine she does a lot of Active Listening and notetaking when she's conversing with people. so that she can compare notes with hunter later and figure out who's an ally and who's a two-faced monster. she's already covering up a murder and all of this extra performance fucking EXHAUSTS her, but i think she's actually better at it than she expects.

like, she already knows that everything the coven heads and corporate business types say has a double or triple meaning, so she's good at keeping her cards close to her chest and not making them promises

and then when interacting with more common people she is like. WAY more engaged and active and questioning than belos had been in like fifty years combined. she's not even playing a role she's just THRILLED to get to talk to NORMAL PEOPLE for like the FIRST TIME EVER. EVERY CONVERSATION IS SO NEW AND EXCITING

so like. i think it probably varies by individual and there may be variations in different towns based on whether she's committed any major faux pas....

but my INSTINCT is that. all of the coven heads and other powerful people find her fucking terrifying because they're like. 92% sure she killed belos (she did in fact kill belos) & they can't figure out what kind of game she's playing. everything she does seems so whimsical and calculated at the same time, this girl is a social chameleon political genius, she's way more enigmatic than belos, also she will probably murder anyone who gets in her way. and then go back to smiling and chatting very friendly-like with all the survivors

(there are elements of truth here and there in all of this but.... the idea that luz is faking her weird chaotic personality or her friendliness is 100% false. she really is just that excitable and ADHD.)

MEANWHILE. the general population are of course mourning the emperor they had for 50 years, most of them are too young to remember pre-belos times so it's like. losing a universal constant. but luz already had this reputation as a ~*~*~divine chosen one~*~*~ and then she ACTUALLY SEEMS TO CARE SO MUCH AND BE SO NICE. WHAT. average boiling isles resident thinks that the new empress is awesome and if anything happens to her they'll kill everyone in this room and then themselves

as for how people react when luz starts openly implementing more anti-empire laws or undoing certain laws already on the books or forming alliances with prior fugitives/undesirables..... that's a thornier political tangle that i'd probably need to unspool in actual fic. there are too many different variables involved like the coven heads, general propaganda, outside threats, wild witches, the emperor's coven, the titan himself, the on-the-books laws, school curriculums, etc etc etc. figuring out exactly how luz interacts with these factions & exactly how she uses her power & exactly what ripple effects this causes would require a VERY detailed plot outline.

So! This is based on only my vague (like 1 hour research) understanding of him and his contributions to punk rather than as a guy who comes up a lot in pop culture, like in fanfiction and video games. That all in mind!

If you truly feel you deeply relate to his music, then there's no reason to stop listening to the stuff you already own or anythig drastic. But oh boy are some of the claims I'm reading about egregious.

The good news is, the are what's known as "shock jock" behaviour: controversy seeking rather than a genuine support. This is still very bad to do, don't engage in it. It creates safe environments for actual heartfelt nazis to grow their numbers.

But you have to remember, in the 1970s, it was Not Popular to be a nazi. Not like it is today. It was common enough that everyone sort of know a guy, sure. And antisemitism was getting really bad again in europe. But nazism? Specifically? It wasn't Cool. It was controversial.

Not like today. My goodness we live in the worst fucking timeline.

Whatever. Nazi symbolism was a quick way to cause a controversy back then, is the point.

Logically one can assume the same is true of, for example, writing a song about an extermination camp. Egregious yes, but egregious on purpose because the feelings of jews were not considered relevant compared to the controversy that it would cause.

But fucking shit though, some of this is hard to read about.

This is why it's so important as contemporary punk enjoyers to viciously push back against nazis co-opting the space.

So, in private and with regards to your personal emotions to the artworks? Go enjoy what you enjoy! You aren't hurting someone by privately listening to music.

But in public? As my GF put it, if I heard someone was like... hardcore into this man's work, like to the extent of attending cover band concerts for example? I would expect them to be vocally and passionately anti-nazi before I could trust them.

And, I totally see where someone who just knows the man off google search results would think of him as "guy who maybe killed his Jewish GF after writing songs about extermination camps."

To be clear, I agree that the most probable "suspect" was that someone had a really bad trip. Who? No one knows; everyone was high.

But I see why many Jewish people would be uncomfortable with him, based on a cursory understanding of the situation.

Which is why, if you take your appreciation for his work from private to public, you must. MUST! Be 100% ready to do whatever it takes to keep nazis out of punk in today's world, and to combat antisemitism when it arises in your local spaces.

That's the part that matters.

And in my opinion? Based on the way you approached this, you're doing very well informing yourself on the subject. You had some idea of the issue, and you reached out to someone you trust. I appreciate you doing so.

Honestly? As sad as it is, just be nice to her. Hazel often gets the short end of the stick, not being a Glamrock and all, so any amount of genuine kindness and they'll great you by name if you ever come by the Painting Palace. Maybe even a special drawing will be waiting for you!

BRING ME TO LIFE :: What’s the one thing that your s/i deeply regrets more than anything else? Was it something they did? Or was it something they didn’t do?

Ouuughhh... it's a complicated question for Evelyn. There's a lot of things that she wished didn't happen, but if they didn't happen she wouldn't be where she was today with her loved ones. If she never died, she probably would've been too old to go to the Pizzaplex. If she never possessed the Marionette along with Charlotte, she probably wouldn't have later gotten the ability to disguise herself as a human. If she tried to have prevented [REDACTED] from his fate, he wouldn't have become robotic and been able to live long enough to meet them in the present day (A lot of lore with her I haven't talked about, whoopsies). Everything is bittersweet.

Well, technically she did do it later, but her biggest regret is not standing up for herself sooner when they were just known as "bear," and also later finding and rebuilding Glamrock Bonnie(Something I wanted to keep a surprise tbh, but when am I ever going to write about it to reveal it lmao). They always feel like they should have done it sooner, that they could have found him sooner because they literally helped build the building and all of its rooms. She could have done it sooner, she knows it. So much time was lost...

HOW TO BE A HEARTBREAKER :: Do you have any ideas for your s/i that you ended up scrapping? If so, say what they were. And why were they scrapped?

Yes actually! Originally Evelyn was going to be a rival to Vanessa/Vanny, instead of following a glitchy murder mimic they would have been following...something. Never could figure that part out. She was going to wear a Marionette mask and have a knife of her own, a weird fucked up anti hero. Killing the killers to bring balance to the word or something like that. I ended up thinking about the current stuff with her and stuck with that instead.

Nothing with Hazel's original idea, despite the fact that later I changed her arm sleeve things to match her leggings and gave her an earring. But later on I did consider changing her hair! I'm white as all hell, so all my s/is are intended to be white, even the furries. And while white people can have afro hair, hell I based their design off of Bob Ross, I worried that I would somehow give the wrong impression about my race with it. I doodled a concept with spikey-er, almost mohawk like hair that still covered both eyes, but after showing it to my friends and having them choose the majority liked the afro most.

I periodically have horrible nightmares about Pip being kidnapped, used to blackmail me, and then cruelly murdered. I had one last night that made me so upset I woke up crying at 2am and couldn’t fall back asleep for ages 😔 so we are feeling a little off this morning! Pip is obviously fine and grumpily allowed me to cradle him in my arms the rest of the night, even though his PREFERENCE as I WELL KNOW is to be burrowed under the duvet at the bottom of the bed. he is my best little guy (which is why the bad guys in my dreams know he can be USED AGAINST ME 😩).

I am crampy and a bit grouchy from discomfort & lack of sleep, but am bravely soldiering on! got up at 5:15, answered work emails for a while, and am now lounging in bed for a bit before I face the day. I think this week I want to apply to this other L&D job that just posted so I want to take some notes for that cover letter… I have to also include a sample “racial equity, social justice, or anti-racist based learning tool or handout” which hmm that was definitely a core focus of my previous job but I feel like the materials I have are pretty tailored to the subject matter I was teaching. so I’ll have to give some thought to how to modify them. ugh I have mixed feelings about doing the whole white lady DEI facilitator thing… but I guess they can weed me out of the applicant pool themselves if I’m not right for the job and also the position seems to be equally concerned with gender equity in the workplace so maybe it’s ok. Development Diary: Jude's World, Part 7

At last my solo, tarot-based TTRPG about a plucky preteen protagonist struggling to reunite their warring parents is in the hands of play testers. I've been resisting doing any active development until I've received more feedback, but let's talk about what I've been hearing so far.

Feedback #1: Tone

Test readers said they liked the game but found the tone "sombre". This was cause for concern.

I'm not sure why I assumed that my little game about divorce would be a giggle? But I did. While the genre of the game is not comedy, it is inspired by 90s kids shows that I loved, which always sprinkled sassy one-liners and hijinks in even throughout more serious plots. They wanted their main characters to be likeable and aspirational, and they needed to balance the tone of the heavier drama for kids. Why didn't more of that source inspiration come through in my initial draft? Well.

Firstly I wanted to make the rule text clear. This means balancing detail with conciseness - I don't want to leave unnecessary ambiguity, but I also don't want to exhaust my reader with minutiae. It's easy to forget when writing game texts that it's okay to sacrifice a little of each of these for the sake of flavour. The field of optimisation is a triangle, not a line.

Secondly I have a lot to say about society's attitudes towards divorce. Maybe the introduction to a game text, which is intended to entice and invite the reader, isn't the place to explore those concepts fully. Was I wrong when I wrote that divorce is a women's rights issue and a hard won privilege, access to which should be expanded in a free and progressive society, or that an virulently anti-divorce tone of parent-trap-style stories is deeply problematic? No. Is that potentially a downer to read about when you're trying to get into a playful headspace? Maybe. (Yes.)

I may write up some of these more intense thoughts in a separate blog post or essay and refer to that in my text rather than including them there. That way those who are interested can read up while everyone else can have some peace. Credit for this idea goes to Laurie O'Connell who mentioned using a similar strategy in one of his games while being interviewed on the excellent What Am I Rolling? podcast.

Feedback #2: Organisation

I should have seen this one coming. It's telling that I've overhauled the structure of the text 5 times now. The feedback is that it's still not flowing quite right.

From experience this is something I'll continue to tinker with until near the end of the development process. Although I have hit upon an idea I want to try in the next version: I want to try writing my game like an academic paper.

I studied Psychology at uni. I didn't really like it because my tutors expected me to, like, go to the library and read a lot of academic papers, which clashed with my pre-existing plans to chain-smoke in the pub all day. In the intervening years I've both quit smoking and somehow retained some knowledge of the structure of an academic paper: abstract, content, then conclusion, with all the same information in those three sections using different emphasis and levels of detail.

When I first learned about this format I thought it was insane. Why all that repetition? Then I actually did a spot of teaching and realised: that's just how we learn. You cannot say something once and expect a listener (or reader) to retain it. No matter how simple the message seems to you.

So I'm going to try that for the next version of my game. Simplified rules, followed by a rules deep dive, followed by a glossary/diagrams/play examples to enrich what we've covered before using different presentation styles. I'm excited about this idea. Let's see how it goes!

Phantom Liberty

I have been playing Cyberpunk since launch and have been a staunch defender of it. The glitches were all on the consoles or PC's that shouldn't be playing it. There was a ton of effort and care put into this game. I have done 10 playthroughs and have amassed 355 hours in the game. The themes of this game cover many political and social issues related to hyper capitalism. There is also amazing cultural representation! There is even a trans woman who has a great quest.

I was so excited about Phantom Liberty because the story addressed topics I have personally struggled with. I have a business degree and originally was excited to do a career in economic politics or owning a business. I even at one point wanted to be President of the USA. Now however I am a staunch anti capitalist and vehemently dislike the political structures in the US and how they cause harm to the most marginalized of people. I also had enlisted in the US air force during high school. I was never given the opportunity to serve because Donald Trump had banned the enlistment of trans people in the military. I feel this is for the better however because I was able to access a career field I truly care about. The cherry on top of the DLC is that its a super spy thriller. I love this genera and have watched and read many of Ian Flemings' James Bond Novel based media. I wrote my own super spy setting for D&D and am working on its 2nd expansion right now.

These are some photos I took during my playthrough (admittedly pretty late into it). I really think CD Projekt Red really improved their lighting aesthetics. I also had a lot of fun making outfits.

In my first ever playthrough of the game I got the "Where Is My Mind" ending. Which sees you being fucked over by corporations. I played a corpo and instead of rejecting cooperate control I embraced it. This made Johnny kick and scream the whole way. I figured out that characters like Misti and Johnny are the story tellers way of speaking to us. They however only talk to you after you have made the decisions. I decided to do another capitalism lover in my Phantom Liberty playthrough. I don't fully understand why I prefer playing these characters. I think it feels like a safe space for me to grapple with these topics and experiment with what I would do in these situations. I LOVED the "bad" ending for the DLC. With all of the other endings in the base game V is unable to find a cure. In this one you ARE able to find a cure! Which is so freaking refreshing.

After the credits there was like an extra 1.5 hours of gameplay. Instead of just saying "you fucked up" it was like yeah you did fuck up and hurt a lot of people but heres how you move forward with that. My favorite moment in the whole game was seeing Misti 2 years after. It felt like I was a character in her story rather than being a main character. This ending is called "Things Done Changed". The themes explored in this portion felt extremely relevant for me. I had a major mental health crisis earlier in the year and I have been spending the rest of year trying to piece together what exactly happened to me and how it has changed me. This story ultimately had an extremely uplifting message. I even tried the other ending-"Who Wants to Live Forever"- which was emotionally a lot less challenging and is one of the rare endings which doesn't end your actual playthrough (which I have always kind of been annoyed by). And its not even like the ending didnt happen either I have multiple quests that happen afterwards because of the events of the story.

Era emocionada para Libertad Fantasma porque la estoria se hablo a temas yo he lucho con. Yo tengo un licenciatura de negocio y originalmente era emocionada a aser un carrera economica politica o ser dueno de un negotio. Yo incluso en un momento quiero a ser la presidente de los estado unidos. Pero ahora soy un acerrimo anticapitalista y con vehemencia disgusto los structitur politicos en la estados unidos y como ellos causar dano los personas mas marganalizas. Yo tambien he enlisto en la estados unidos fuerza aarea durante escuela secundaria. Nunca me dieron la oportunidad a atender porque Donald Trump habia prohibido la enlisto de personas trans en la militaria. Siento que esto es para la mejor sin embargo porque pude acceder un campo ocupacional que realmente me importa. La cereza encima de la contenido descargable es un suspenso espiar supur. Eso son photographias que yo tome duranta mi juegos completos (es cierto que bastante tarde). Yo realmente pienso CD Projekt Red mejorada la aestheticas de luzes. Tambien me diverti mucho haciendo trajes.

En mi primera juego completas yo obtener la “Donde esta mi mente” finale. Que te ve siendo jodido por los corperations. Jugo de un corpo y en cambio de rechazando control corporativo, yo abrace lo. Eso hecho johnny patear y gritar todo el camino. Yo descubierto esa caracteres como Misti y Johnny son los contadora de historias hablante con nosotras. Ellos sin embargo solamente habla con tu despues de haber tomado las decisiones. Yo decidió a hacer un otro amante de capitalista en mi Libertad Fantasma juego completas. No entiendo completamente porque yo preferir este caracteres. Creo que para mi es un espacio seguro para abordar estos temas y experimentar lo que haria en estas situaciones. AMO la “mal” finale para la contenido descargable. Todo los otra finales en la video juego base, V no puede encontrar una curar. En este tu PUEDES  encontrar una curar! Lo cual es tremendamente refrescante.

Despues los creditos habia uno y trenta horas extras como se juega. En lugar de simplemente decir "la cagaste", fue como "sí, la cagaste y lastimaste a mucha gente, pero así es como sigues adelante con eso". Mi momente favorita de toda el juego fue ver a misti dos anos despues. Se sentia como si fuera una caricatura en ellas estoria en vez de siendo un personaje principal. Este final es llamada “Cosas Hecho Cambiado” (potencialmente suena mejor en inglés). Los temas exploradas en esta parte me parecieron  extremadamente relevantes. Tuve una importante crisis de salud mental a principios de año y pasé el resto del año tratando de reconstruir qué me pasó exactamente y cómo me ha cambiado. En última instancia, esta historia tenía un mensaje extremadamente alentador. Incluso probé el otro final, "Quién quiere vivir para siempre", que fue mucho menos desafiante emocionalmente y es uno de los raros finales que no termina tu partida real (lo cual siempre me ha molestado). Y ni siquiera es como si el final no hubiera sucedido. Tengo múltiples misiones que suceden después debido a los eventos de la historia.

Gacha games especially have to face this issue of trying not to set off anti-feminists in Korea- especially if they are IN Korea as it will be HORRIBLE for them as a whole. It's why it also annoys me that they did actually end up winning because of how the global playerbase didn't understand fully of what was going on NOR the implications.

Project moon IS a company of around 50 people, which is TINY even for small indie companies. They were actually trying to protect every employee by doing what they were doing, and have not been trained on what to do with it as they're literally basically a small-mid discord server of people.

But the real reason I note it is because, The toxic masculinity is so bad that they also hate femboys! They hate men who aren't in this strict box of being masculine as well! but they hate women even more in these spaces.

To go on of WHY it's important to try and keep your face covered and to do very little on personal information online now in Korea especially is the common use of Deepfake nsfw chat rooms on telegram! which people use to blackmail others they make nsfw of! They don't just make deepfakes, they will try to get EVERY detail on you especially.

No one is safe and they also do this to minors (like. kindergarteners) and ask for people from schools info and photos to make even more if they can't access it.

I say this all because. that is the joke. That the anti-feminists would throw a fit over it, even though it's literally similar to the actual book, The Odyssey. As Project moon STILL follows the pathline of the stories their characters are based off of, even if there's WILD changes!

Antisemetism In Art, and How To Avoid It: A masterpost for HLVRAI content creators

Bubby and Benrey are the focus of this post, if you have questions regarding other characters then please don't hesitate to ask if the general idea is not covered here.

This is a collaborative effort between fans of HLVRAI who are Jewish, but that does not mean we are representing every jewish fan's view. If other jewish fans disagree, that does not mean either of us are less jewish than the other. Thank you.

*EDIT (5/17/2021): While "Bubby's model is based on a jewish person" is a common claim made in the HLVRAI community, I can't actually find any information supporting that. However, the character model (Isaac Kleiner) is still Jewish/Jewish coded (due to his name), so the chart still applies. Thank you for understanding, and I am sorry for the confusion!

Trait Charts for Bubby & Benrey

Bubby's in-game model is based on a Jewish person, while Benrey has no ties to judaism. Because of this, the guidelines for their character designs are not the same.

BUBBY No: - Hooked Nose - Different from pointed nose - Inhuman Skin - specifically from the yellow, green, and blue hues. - Horns/Horn Hair - Animal features - Tail, animal eyes, and animal limbs. Think stereotypical demons? Catboys not included, the intent behind those is less so dehumanizing and moreso just furry-lite. Only 1 At A Time*: - Sharp Teeth - Not very common, but it has still been used to demonize jewish people - Claws - Pointed Ears * When I say "Only 1 at a time", honestly 1-2 can be combined. It entirely depends on the artist's intent/how exaggerated those aspects are. Sadly, nuance is hard to define in a small chart. Just be cautious and respectful! OK!: - Being evil - Being a villain/temporarily evil does not equal automatically bad. Woobifying jewish people is Not the solution. Unless he is portrayed as greedy or the "mastermind" behind everything (very bad), being generally evil is OK. - Pointer/Big Nose - Styleized pointed noses, or realistically larger noses, are not the same as a hooked nose. Speaking as someone who has a larger nose, it is ok to draw those. - "Flame" Hair

BENREY NO: - Hooked Nose - Different from pointed nose - Inhuman Skin - SPECIFICALLY greens and yellows, greys and blues are okay -Horns/Horn Hair - This one is situational - they are okay for AUs (such as demon AUs or Winter Holiday imps) but not for just basic Benrey. Fluffy/messy/spiky hair is fine tho Mostly Okay, Depends On Intent*: - Sharp Teeth - Claws - Pointed ears - While bad on jewish characters, pointy ears are a very common trait in other non-antisemetic media (Such as elves, vampires, aliens, etc.) - Being Evil - Pointy/Big Nose -Animal Features - While bad for bubby, having demonic characters it not antisemetic in itself! Only when it's used to represent jews. * When it comes to non-jewish characters, it's harder to make a set list of "yes"s and "no"s due to a little thing called nuance. Sometimes artists can combine these traits in a respectful way that has no ties to antisemitism, and other artists utilize these traits to make anti-jewish media. This is unfortunately an overlap that can not be defines due to how much of this is a grey area, so do your best to research an artists views before making false claims - the same goes for giving antisemitic artists a free pass on accident. Do your research, don't be afraid to ask artists in private first before making public posts, and stay safe!

Okay but I gotta know now what the fuck was his rationale for defending Cawthorn-in-my-side supporting bigots? Like what kinda mental gymnastics are we looking at here

ehe okay so, firstly i would like to extend my apologies for taking some time to get to this. hope it's no trouble ! /g

So let's start at the beginning. I've reviewed all his major points and here's what i have to say. There will be a tldr; at the bottom as well (in bold), as this will likely end up being kind of lengthy. 

He does seem to understand the side of [people against Scott] and why they’re upset. The way he presents himself seems a little disingenuous. That may just be me, though. He says he did his research (for once) and also says, quote, “....let me start off by making it crystal clear that I am pro-LGBTQ rights.”

He states that he is a member of the LA lgbt center and attends their events because he supports their mission. And even though he is not part of the lgbtq community, he says he does his best to keep a “sensitive ear out” for lgbtq fans and theorist team members. 

Then he says this: “I will still be covering and supporting fnaf as a franchise.” adding to that, he continues saying Scott’s just a figurehead, a “visual shorthand”, something to represent the franchise as a whole.

Since there are people other than Scott who make the books, fangames, merch, etc anything that isn’t a mainline game/content made by scott himself, he’s saying that if he stopped supporting the franchise as a whole, it’d mean he’d stop supporting those creator’s work as well. He adds that he wouldn’t be supporting the community to that effect as well.

NOW I’M AT THE PART THAT MAKES ME GO. HUH

So, to this question that i’m sure many people will have, he says (paraphrased) “Yeah, sadly. That’s just a choice you’re going to have to make based on your own personal criteria.”

Direct quote, following the previous paraphrase: “To me, the good of supporting the community around the franchise and the jobs that it creates is worth whatever minor impact that scott may be able to enact in the political sphere.”

i can’t even put this into words that make sense but like. excuse me ???

that sounds like he actually doesn’t care at all . talkin about some “pro lgbt rights” this seems very blatantly hypocritical. that comes from a place of privilege for him, i imagine

After, he’s essentially just saying “this is how it is everywhere so that’s just too bad and it doesn’t matter anyway”

he brings up walt disney and his many prejudices (????) and is like “you gonna stop watching disney movies because they money goes directly to his pockets”

He sounds like he’s saying that because scott stepped down, it absolves him, or makes him no longer a threat to the community through donations, etc

--yes but you can still choose to not support them.

The way he’s talking reads to me like he doesn’t think scott is dangerous to lgbt rights, what with the donations and all 

He’s viewing it as a disagreement rather than. oh i dunno.HUMAN RIGHTS. as if we aren’t talking about the rights of humans. it’s more than just a disagreement . there are people on this globe that want lgbtq people off it and think we aren’t people and think we shouldn’t be allowed the same rights they are. and thats just a “disagreement” ?????

NOW HES GIVING HIM “benifit of the doubt” essentially saying he can overlook all the things he did because he donated over $100,00 to charity, including 50,000 dollars to the trevor project. Ok cool, he donated to charities that's a good thing! but it doesn’t make his other wrongdoings suddenly okay or disappear. wtf 

AND IT CERTIALLY DOES NOT ABSOLVE HIM OF HIS MISDEEDS EITHER.

also all of the canadates scott supported are homo/transphobic except one, kinda so i guess that makes it all better ! /s

OK SO OH MY GOD. BECAUSE HE SUPPORTED ONE CANADATE THAT AT THE TIME WAS PRO TRANS RIGHTS ALL OF A SUDDEN SCOTT IS ACTUALLY FINE AND NOT AT FAULT. THATS WHAT MATT IS SAYING. BRO R YOU SERIOUS. ARE YOU S

So scott moves onto the “next best” canadate after the pro trans rights canadate dropped out. which was tr//mp. still not lookin any better

matt is saying all this like he’s spitting some good facts and like he’s changing ur whole perspective or something. lol

SO BASICALLY BECAUSE scott DID ALL THIS “goodwill” like donating and such and supporting for ONE pro trans person out of 15 others that were anti, matt’s still going to support him anyway because “oh well he did so much good ! so i can overlook him donating to people who want to strip lgbtq rights away :)”

and to end off, he continues to insist that the good outweighs the bad and i honestly just don’t think that’s true.

tldr; 

Matt says he’s “pro lgbt rights” for a whole 10 minutes explaining all the reasons he supports their rights then turns right around and says he will continue to support scott after all he’s done. He talks in a very privileged way, as well as certain statements being “gotcha” statements.

Because Scott donated money to several charities, Matt views this as acceptable and choses to overlook what scott did. Matt seems to be insinuating/saying that because ONE person out of 16 total canadates was pro trans at the time, that means actually scott wasn’t lgbtq- phobic and we’re overreacting.
