I was thinking maybe the junomo's are the kwamis!
And they can help around the farm.
Like plagg can help destroy and clean it for the price of fancy cheeses obviously
Tikki can help water and raise the animals.
Stardew Valley Adrien
He moves to a small town to escape his life. And he is gifted a small plot of land his mom left him. And while he is there he meets the locals and there is this cute girl Marinette who is trying to stop this big corporation from taking over. So he decides to help her out.
One day this random feral cat shows up on his door steps walks into his how and steals his cheese! Adrien was like okay that's fine and now he has this magical cat who just does the most unhinged shit ever and eats all the cheese.
All of the town people are super nice and helpful even though sometimes they have weird request.
But all in all he loves it and is so glad he moved there

i’m really loving the Wish me Away au idea! Would you be up to writing about what the batfam does after seeing mari’s reaction to emilie and adrien?
Like an actually little drabble? Yeah sure! It'll be based off the headcanons from this post -> đŸ‘¶
â–Șâ–Șâ–Șâ–ȘïžŽâ™€â™Ąâ—‡â™§â–Șâ–Șâ–Șâ–Ș
Bruce couldn't remember having so much fun, he always loved to brag about his kids and show them off at work, but it was a little hard when it was 'Bring Your Kid To Work Day' and most of your kids worked with you. That's why he was so happy bringing little Marietta with him to Wayne Enterprises, he also brought Damian but Damian had wandered off to see what Dick did since, and he quotes, "I know everything about you father. If I am to be your successor it is only natural I familiarize myself with your work. I believe it would be beneficial for me to oversee Grayson's work ethic."
Honestly, Damian could have just said he wanted to see what Dick did but that was just part of Damian's charm. Before he had left, Damian had let Marietta grab his finger and give it a little shake which delighted her, if Bruce was not mistaken, Damian had even smiled before he said bye to the both of them. The boy had really grown to love Mari and Bruce could not be more proud of his son. Though, he had to admit, all of his children were absolutely enamored with the baby, not to say he wasn't, but Lord have mercy on anyone who dared mess with his baby girl. She would have an army behind her of overprotective brothers and sisters, and father and mother, and grandfather, and cow...and turkey...and dogs...and cats...and dragon bat....and semi-god things that called themselves kwamis...and two very very powerful almost godlike godparents (Diana and Clark.) Now Bruce didn't like to think about it but he did also have to add Mari's....friends to that list... i.e. some of his rogues, which yes was fucking bizarre beyond all reason, but some had even cut back on crime because of their friendship with his little mini-hero so that was a plus. Right?
Well that was a thought for another day, now he got to take his little girl around and take her into meetings, which was certainly going to be interesting, but Marietta always seemed interested in watching him work so he wasn't too worried. He packed her plenty of snacks along with her lunch that Alfred made, he made sure to pack her favorite toys and a variety of coloring books and markers and crayons. And of course he remembered to pack cookies for Tikki who was riding in the hood of Marietta's dress. Plus he made sure to pack a little first aid kid just in case, also another sweater for Marietta in case she got cold.
He liked to be prepared. Sue him.
First meeting of the day was with a Ms. Graham de Vanily. If his memory served right this was Emilie and not Amelie who he had spoken with in the past. Not for the first time he had to wonder what possessed their parents to name the identical twin sisters Emilie and Amelie, but apparently she had brought along her son as well so that made this meeting a little less awkward. He adjusted his hold on Marietta before he continued on his walk to his office where he would be meeting Ms. Emilie, he had hoped to show his daughter around more when they had arrived but he had actually forgotten about this particular meeting and so hadn't rescheduled it to a time when he would hand over Marietta to one of her brother's since they deemed it "unfair" that only he got to show her his work.
Honestly his boys. They were wonderful but boy did they get jealous of one another if Marietta gave one more attention than the other. He fondly remembered one family game night where all the boys were asking who Mari's favorite brother is and she had just been laughing at all the attention not really understanding and it was the first time Bruce had witnessed Damian giving someone a smile and opening his arms for a hug. Of course he had done it behind all his siblings backs and only Alfred and Bruce himself had seen it. It was a sight to see everyone's face when Mari giggled out a, "Dami!", and ran over to him. When everyone turned around he was back to his stoic face but he was hugging Marietta and she was snuggling herself against him but as he looked at everyone he gave them a small smirk. There was an uproar, a demand for a retest, but Damian wouldn’t have it and it had been one of the most chaotic nights in the Manor. Selina had been very entertained especially when Marietta somehow made her way out of the gaggle of children and waddled over to her and had climbed in her lap very clumsily before plopping herself down and making herself comfortable, almost like a cat Bruce had thought, before smiling up at Selina. Selina had just turned to Bruce and said in a complete monotone voice, “I would die for this child.”
Him and Selina hadn't tied the knot yet so to say, nor had he proposed. They were trying their hand at dating again but he couldn't help the way his heart skipped and his mind conjured up images of tuxedos, lace, friends and family, cakes and kisses, and rings and vows exchanged, when his baby girl, his little Marietta looked up at Selina and called her Maman. Bruce wondered if she ever shared his thoughts, he almost convinced himself she did whenever he saw her melt and practically purr when Mari, or as Selina liked to call her, Kitten, would call her Maman. He could see the love in the older woman's eyes and he had no doubt in his heart that this time, they would work out, this time they would get their 'happily ever after' or whatever came close to it.
He was ripped from his thought when he heard his baby girl giggle at something Lucius said.
"Morning Lucius."
"And good morning to you Mr. Wayne. I see you brought the little one."
"Yes. I promised I would bring her but I must admit, the meeting with Ms. Graham de Vanily slipped my mind." Bruce sighed out.
"I guessed as much. Well if you want, I can watch the Little Wayne while you have your meeting." Lucius offered, of course Bruce trusted him to watch Marietta seeing as the older man also practically adopted Mari at first sight. He was basically another grandfather to her.
"Gampa Fox!" Marietta began before dissolving into her baby babble. She was getting very good at speaking. Honestly she was very smart for a two year old.
"That's okay Lucius, I want to bring her in. Besides if her brothers spot her with you they wouldn't hesitate to snatch her up before their scheduled times. If Ms. Graham de Vanily has a problem with it I will insist on a reschedule. It's not everyday I get some one on one time with Marietta." Bruce admitted.
"You know one day someone is going to say no to you despite your good looks, money and reputation. Fine. Head on in, our guest is already here, which by the way, I don't think she will mind Mari seeing as she brought her own son to this meeting." Lucius sighed but he gave Mari a little wave and pointed Bruce to one of the smaller meeting rooms they had in Wayne Enterprises.
"Aww Lucius you think I'm good looking?"
"Go."
"Yes sir." Bruce chuckled out with a brief wave before he made his way over to the meeting room Lucius had pointed to and gently rapped his knuckled on the outside door despite the room being visible from outside because of the large windows. He heard a feminine voice call out from inside so he entered,
“Remember your manners Marietta and if you need anything don’t be shy.” Bruce told his daughter softly as they walked in, he chuckled when she nodded enthusiastically. As soon as he caught sight of the blonde woman he put on his best business smile. “Ah, Ms. Graham de Vanily, so sorry to keep you waiting. I must admit that this meeting slipped my mind.”
“No worries Mr. Wayne, I don’t believe this will be long. I see you brought your daughter. I brought my son! Adrien say hi.” Ms. Graham de Vanily light-heartedly scolded her son and tapped his shoulder. When Bruce took his seat and placed Marietta on his lap he finally got a good look at them both. Both mother and son were blond, her son, Adrien was a teenager, from the looks of it he was 16 maybe even 17. When his mother tapped him on the shoulder he sat up straighter than when he was slouching so obviously he didn’t want to come. So why bring him then?
“Hello Mr. Wayne, it’s an honor to meet you.” Adrien greeted him with a model smile, he had seen enough to spot them from the real deal.
“Likewise. Marietta, can you say ‘hello’ to our guests?” Bruce asked gently down to his daughter who was being uncharacteristically quiet. Usually she would already saying ‘hi’ and waving, maybe even trying to get a high five or hand shake. Though now she was hiding her face in his chest and hugging her backpack to her, she made a small noise like a whimper and Bruce was absolutely dumbfounded. His daughter had never acted like this before, not even with Joker for crying out loud yet here she was trembling and trying to hide herself in his arms. He didn’t know what was going on but his daughter was scared so he scooped her up and held her closer to him but she still tried to pull herself closer. Finally Bruce caught sight of Tikki inside Marietta’s open backpack and saw her antennae-like things pulled back and her eyes narrowed as the kwami glared at Ms. Graham de Vanily and her son, if he wasn’t mistaken she was even glowing a faint red especially as she stared at Adrien. Bruce didn’t understand what was causing these reactions but he did know one thing, he wasn’t going to make Marietta sit there.
“I apologize. She’s not normally like this, I think it would be best if I take her to one of her brothers if you don’t mind.”
“Oh...no worries at all. I’m sorry if we scared her somehow.” The woman actually sounded genuine but Bruce wasn’t going to risk anything, especially with how her son actually looked at his daughter for the first time that they walked in there.
“I’m sure that’s not the case, but it will probably be best to take her to one of her brothers that way we can get through this meeting. I will be fast.” With that he was out the room and speedwalking down the hall over to Lucius’s office. “I don’t have time to explain but Marietta was acting strange around Ms. Graham de Vanily and her son and Tikki as well. Can you take her to one of her brothers please? Just inform me who and I will go pick her up after the meeting.”
Lucius on his part did his best not to ask questions knowing Bruce didn’t have the time but he did raise a brow that told Bruce he would be answering those unasked questions later. “Of course. I’ll go see what Dick and Damian are up to.”
“Thank you Lucius.” Bruce said sincerely before he made his way back to his meeting. He had questions too and they were all for Tikki, but there would be time for that later, now it was time for business.
__________________________________________
The meeting passed and all Bruce could think about was getting to Marietta. He checked his texts from Lucius that informed him that he did indeed leave Mari with Dick and Damian so he made his way over to the central security room knowing that’s where Dick would most likely be. When he got there he was relieved to see his baby girl laughing and playing with Dick while Damian sat on a chair watching, as he walked in the two boys stood up swiftly with Dick scooping up Marietta and angling her away from the door but when they saw it was him they relaxed. “Father, Lucius told us nothing, what happened?” Damian demanded.
“I’m not sure myself. Marietta started acting scared when we got in the meeting room with Ms. Graham de Vanily and her son Adrien.” Bruce answered.
“NO!” They all stared at Marietta in shock when she screamed and tried to hide herself in Dick’s chest, then they all stared at each other with wide eyes.
“Hey, hey, hey. Etta what’s wrong?” Dick asked softly.
“No Adrien! No!” Marietta cried out.
The air grew cold. Bruce could hear his son’s gasp and he wouldn’t be surprised if he did as well. “ Ű·ÙÙ„ Ű§Ù„ŰźÙŰ§ÙÙŠŰŽ (tifl alkhafafish), you’re safe. This Adrien won’t harm you I promise.” Damian cooed to Marietta.
â€œŰ§Ù„ŰŁŰź Ű§Ù„ŰŁÙƒŰšŰ± (al'akhu al'akbar).” Mari cried out wetly as she reached her hands out for him and he of course took her out of Dick’s arms and held her.
“Tikki. Explain...please.” Bruce pleaded.
Tikki flew out of Mari’s backpack and sadly looked over at the girl before flying over to her and kissing the top of her head before flying and landing on Dick’s desk. “It’s...They are from her old life. Ad- He was her former partner...the one who wished her away. That woman shouldn’t be alive.”
“He was the one to betray her?” Damian asked, his voice full of ice and steel. “Father I will be needing my swords. All of them.”
“Damian. No.”
“What do you mean no?” His son asked indignantly.
“Yeah what do you mean no?” Tikki asked with a tilt of her head, Bruce glared at her, she knew what she was doing.
“Tikki what do you mean that woman shouldn’t be alive?” Dick asked.
“Simply that. She was a corpse. No soul. Haw-Gab- The villain Mari had to face before, she was his wife. He wished for her life.” Tikki explained as though it made total sense to all of them.
“Yeaaaaah, you’re going to need to expand on that.” Dick said which made Tikki frown in confusion.
“While I do agree with that, maybe we should wait until we are at home to continue this conversation. You boys know how Tim and Jason will be if they aren’t informed about what happened. You boys tell them and I’ll take Marietta. We will continue on with our day, but if you see either of them lingering here alert me. I don’t want Marietta to have to interact with them at all if we can help it.” Bruce said as he gently took Marietta from Damian who looked like he wanted to do anything but give his little sister to his father.
“If I see them I have a right to defend Marietta.” Damian stated. “You can’t stop me.”
“Damian.”
“Don’t worry Bruce, at least he doesn’t have a sword on him.” Dick chuckled.
“Who said I didn’t? Was it Todd?”
Bruce needed a break. Bruce questioned why he had so many kids not for the first time in his life. Bruce decided to ignore the fact his child admitted to having a sword somewhere on him and just did as he said he was going to do, continue his day with his daughter and if he held her a little closer to him than usual? Well it couldn’t be helped.

Strangeness and Charm
MGI 2021 One-Year Anniversary Gift Exchange
hello, im back for a little post for @khneltea you are the recipient for enemies to lovers and by gods i hope you like this! romantic, or well its implied, daminette enemies to lovers! also tagging @issaxcharlie as per requested in the server!
fic is under the cut!
Marinette understood that the bat team was sent to Paris to help her; now that it was just herself against Papillon, but she really wanted to kick Robin’s teeth in. She couldn’t stand him. He was a self-centered, entitled, little shit. How dare he come into her city and tell her how to do her job?
The akuma attacks had been sporadic since she had revoked Chat Noir’s miraculous and the only attack that had occurred since Robin and the rest of the bats had arrived was Mister Pigeon. However, if she was being honest with herself that hardly counted as an attack in her or anyone’s books anymore.
It took all of her self control to not throttle him on the rooftop, after she had cast the miraculous cure, when he said “If this is what qualifies as an attack for you, I would hate to see how you would fare against even one of Gotham’s villains.” She was livid, he had based his opinions on akuma attacks by one attack and one attack only.
He had only been in Paris for a week and this is how he treated her, because of one little flare up by their resident akuma magnet? He had no idea what even counted as an attack in Paris nowadays.
Mister Pigeon? Definitely not.
Siren? Absolutely.
Due to him being close to her in age, she had constantly paired up with him during her nightly patrols and she hated it. She wondered if this was his team's way of trying to get him to socialize or work on his people skills. If so, they were doing an absolutely shit job of it.
At this point she really had debated whether or not being on Batman’s shit list would be worth dangling Robin from the Eiffel Tower by his ankles. She could do it. She knows she could, she had done it before in fact, to Chat before she took his miraculous away from him. In the end, she decided that it wouldn’t be worth the trouble it would cause her; but if she did accidentally hit him with her yo-yo while patrolling with him that night, no one would be the wiser.
She elected to ignore the muttered curses and detoured from her usual route in an attempt to get away from the miserable bastard. Of course, Robin then scolded her for running away and being an inferior hero. At that point she decided to put even more distance between them, only to prevent herself from injuring a potential ally. If he could even be called that with his constant berating and demeanor.
It was then that she heard a scream, an akuma. Kwami, she hoped it wasn’t Sandboy again, especially since his usual appearances were during the night.
She cast a quick glance at Robin and decided to leave him be. She took off in the direction of the scream, he was preoccupied by something on his gauntlet, if the blue light it was emitting was an indicator. Besides she had been fighting akumas for years now, the last thing she needed was Robin’s attitude and chiding rather than his help.
He didn’t need to see her nightmares either if it was in fact Sandboy who was akumatized as well.  Sure, she wasn’t exactly the same thirteen year old girl she was when she first started battling akumas but Robin certainly didn’t need any more ammunition to use against her.
He didn’t need to see that her nightmares were of herself, whispering in her ear, telling her to give up. That she was a failure, that she should just let Papillon have the miraculous. It would all be over, it wasn’t like she would remember that she was Ladybug anyways. Whatever wish he would make would erase the current timeline out of existence. She hated seeing it.
When she touched down on the street, the first thing she noticed was that it was empty. There was no sign of any akuma, no destruction or frozen bodies. There wasn’t anything, it was too empty, as if the people had just up and disappeared. It was incredibly unnerving.
Casting another look around, she saw something dart into the shadows of an alleyway. She jumped to a neighboring rooftop and looked down. There it was, the akuma. They didn’t look like anything special, no obnoxious colours or outrageous outfits. Just someone in a simple, sleek suit in muted colours, their hair tied back in a dark braid and a drooping butterfly mask that looked like ruined eyeliner.
They looked up and made eye contact. She flung herself back on the rooftop. The akuma’s eyes looked empty, there was no emotion or life in them. It was disconcerting.
She looked back down into the alleyway to try to get another read on the akuma. They were gone. She rose to her feet and looked around again, just in case she missed something.
“Well, well, well. Look at what we have here,” a low, gravelly voice called out. It sounded as if they had gargled glass. Marinette quickly turned around to see the akuma at the other end of the rooftop. “A little ladybug all alone. Let us see what kind of memories you hold, heroine.”
Then suddenly the akuma was in front of her, arm outstretched and their hand was pressed against her forehead. She watched as her memories played out in real time before her and the akuma. She watched as her memories played side by side, all at once. It was headache inducing.
Marinette saw the first friend she made in almost a decade. She saw Lila threaten her and her friendships. She saw the day she had met Tikki, and the day she had received guardianship of the miracle box from Fu. She watched as flashes of her homelife flashed by, the few happy memories of her parents before the bakery’s popularity increased, before they began to neglect her. Before Lila’s honeyed words ruined what little she had left of them.
She watched as memories of previous akuma attacks played out. Of how Chat Noir acted away from the crowds and cameras, how treated her like an object to be won rather than a person. She watched as she had scrubbed herself raw in the shower after he had touched her, as she scrubbed her teeth after he forced a kiss on her.
She watched as the attacks ended and her reunions with her friends had turned into screaming fits. The shouts of how she was flakey and that if she was just going to hang out with them only to ditch them halfway through their time together that they were no longer going to be friends anymore, that they were better off without her. She watched as Lila smiled from across the room, where she comforted her former friend. As Lila’s promises came to fruition.
She watched as her nightmares flashed by just as quick of her looking in the mirror, looking at the scars that the miraculous cure hadn’t healed. As her reflection had started to speak. That she should give up, let Papillon have the miraculous. That she wasn’t worth it, that she was all alone. As the whispered words of her former friends had joined in. She watched as images of Chat had appeared telling her that she was his and no one else’s.
She watched as she was left to pick up the pieces of her life.
Suddenly she was wrenched back and someone was holding her against their person. She could see one of the bat-themed vigilantes fighting against the akuma, it looked to be Red Hood with the way the streetlight was glinting off his helmet. She could hear herself breathing heavily and could feel the tears streaming down her face as she was swung away from the akuma.
When the person holding her landed on a different rooftop, she wrenched herself out of their arms. She hit the rooftop with a thud and scrambled as far away from them as she could possibly get; then she buried her face in her knees. She covered her ears with her hands, hoping to block out the unrelenting images of her memories and nightmares. She didn’t want to see or hear anything. She certainly didn’t want to see anyone’s pitying looks or hear their scorn. She just wanted to forget, this akuma was most definitely Papillon’s newest masterpiece.
She flinched when a hand settled on her shoulder and tried to inch away from it, without removing her hands from her ears. Unfortunately, the hand remained, grounding her ever so slightly. Finally she gave in and looked up. Robin was watching her, but rather than disdain or pity, his face was pinched with concern. She huffed out a laugh, it was weak and made Robin flinch. She shrugged his hand off and stood; she held her head high and wiped her tears away. Ignoring his questioning looks, she tossed her yo-yo out.
“Ladybug,” he said softly.
“Don’t. Whatever you have to say, keep it to yourself. I don’t care,” she croaked. She didn’t want to hear anything he had to say, she just wanted to be done with this night and its horrors.
“Ladybug,” he repeated. “Regardless of whatever you might think or feel, you are not alone. There are plenty of other heroes who know exactly how you feel, who have been exactly where you are.”
That stopped her in her tracks. Of course Robin of all people had seen her memories, her nightmares and her fears. She turned and glared at him, though she imagined it wasn’t all that effective. What with her tear streaked face and red eyes.
“I know how you feel,ïżœïżœ Robin sighed and she deflated. “That your best is not enough, that you, yourself are not good enough. I have been in your shoes. I have felt alone.”
“Well, you certainly don’t act like it,” she sniped bitterly, closing in on herself.
“I apologize,” Robin stated.
“What?”
“I am sorry,” he repeated. “I realize that I may have come off as too brusque and in doing so have diminished your accomplishments.”
“Why?” she asked. “Why are you apologizing? You have nothing to be sorry for. You were right, I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m just playing at being a hero. My villain just found out my identity and so did all of you and your team.”
“That being, it was not, nor is it, your fault,” he replied. “I made assumptions of which I am at fault for, and of which caused the predicament of which you have found yourself in. You cannot quit or give up because of several imbeciles, because if you do, you let them win. You do not strike me as a sore loser, Ladybug.”
Marinette let out a laugh and watched as Robin’s expression shifted. He no longer looked concerned, but was now smiling wryly at her. She returned the smile. “Thank you Robin.”
“You are welcome,” he said. “Now I believe you have an akuma to take care of? Would you care for some assistance?”
“I would,” she replied.
“I look forward to working with you more,” he said, “Marinette.”
Marinette nodded, feeling her face flush at the way Robin said her name. “I do too Robin. I do too.”

What if Damian and the miraculous class are friends and they have movie nights, but since Damian is in Gotham he sneaks out of the manor and portal via Max & Kalki to participate. The Fam get suspicious and try to figure out where Damian is going every week. When they find out he goes to Paris they try to follow him but the portal closes and they use the tubes instead. They end up crashing in on them watching a horror movie which freaks the class out. Insert yelling and things being thrown.
To: Demon From: Angel
Are we still on for movie night?
To: Angel From: Demon
Yes. Just need to get away from the family.
To: Demon From: Angel
😀
Marinette looks over smiling from her phone. Today is a good day. There were no akuma that needed Ladybug’s attention, nor had she broken up a fight between Max and Kim about the latest game. So yes, she was ecstatic to know this is how her day is going.
“Hey Mars, is Damian coming tonight?” Adrien asks seating next to her playing with a strand of his hair. Ever since he came out to her, their relationship has blossomed beyond a crush to a blooming brother-sister relationship. That and Luka were more than willing to take on the blonde without a second thought. She kind of feels bad for Juleka having to see Adrien on a near-daily basis and with her brother no doubt.
“Yup,” Marinette continues to smile, “I just received word that he’s good to go. All we need is for Kaalki and Max to open up a portal at the designated time.”
“Sweet, I hear that Kim was the one picking out this week’s movie. I hope it’s nothing horror-related.” Adrien pouts causing Marinette to laugh that the poor kitty’s face.
“I’m sure it’s nothing too crazy.” Marinette hopes that it was something simple to follow and an action pack rather than horror. She may love horror games but kwami be damn if she watches a horror movie in the dark that wasn’t comedic.
“It looks like break is almost over, we’ll continue you this later.” Adrien sends Marinette a comforting smile before jumping down into his assigned seat next to Nino. Alya and Nino just walked in holding hands.
“Hey, lovebirds, who’s ready for a night full of fun?” Alya greets the two causing them to roll their eyes at the nickname that no longer pertains to them.
“Hey Als, I should be asking you that instead.” Marinette lifts an eyebrow that accompanies her smirk. Nino and Alya’s faces turn red and they side glance each other. Marinette and Adrien laugh at the couple.
“After class, I’ll be giving a quick speech regarding tonight’s plans,” Marinette states pulling out her classwork and books for class. They all nod in understanding. Just then the rest of the class filed in with matching smiles and asking pertaining to tonight’s activities.

Save me from the idiots that I call my brothers?
To: Demon From: Angel
Can’t love, I’m sure it not that bad.
To: Angel From: Demon
For some idiotic reason, they are watching me like a hawk today. I’m currently in the bathroom with the doors locked listening to them bicker outside.
To: Demon From: Angel
Yikes 😬. I’m sure it will die down before you’re required to leave.
To: Angel From: Demon
I doubt that.
To: Demon From: Angel
About that, why did we move our weekly movie night from Saturday to Friday?
To: Angel From: Demon
It’s a half-day at school.
Shit. Talk to you later.
Marinette places her phone down and slowly turns her attention to Mme. Bustier. The red-haired teacher tried to keep her students engaged with the content, but she was losing them faster than on average. Marinette turns to her classmates. Alix and Kim were trying to out strength each other, Juleka and Rose was trying to pay attention but the drooping in Rose’s eyes say otherwise, Sabrina and Chloe—well doing what they usually do—living in their own bubble, Nathaniel was sketching something down in his notebook while Max was pretending to take notes as Markov does it for him. Finally, Mylene and Ivan were also in their own world.
Hours seemed to past in Marinette’s mind before Mme. Bustier concluded today’s lesson. She was so caught up in watching the time that she didn’t realize that was sketching an outfit in her own notebook. Whoops.
“Marinette is there something you would like to add?” Mme. Bustier prompts sending the class’s designated designer a smile.
“Yes,” Marinette gets up from her seat and walks down to the podium. “Tonight is our weekly movie night instead of tomorrow. Do you remember what to bring? If not, please message me before the event. Remember that we are having this event at Chloe’s family’s hotel as it a makeshift theatre room.”
“Daddy says we can have the popcorn maker also.” Chloe interrupts. The class cheers at the thought of the infamous popcorn maker that was usually locked behind the hotel kitchen doors.
“Thank you, Bee, for that tidbit. Now, Max, you are to arrive at the bakery no later than six o’clock. The demon is having a half-day today and I’m ninety-nine percent sure that he’ll want to be here no later than that. Everyone else, you are free to do.” With that and a pretend gavel, Marinette dismisses the class to their next class for the day.
For Damian, being at school felt like a blessing even if it was a half-day. His brothers have been hounding him all morning. It’s like they are looking for something that isn’t there. Damian’s emotions? Yeah right, they all know he only shows emotions to his beloved animals or animals in general. Damian had to double, triple check the security on his phones because who knows what Drake would find if he had access inside it.
For over six months, he had been going to Paris for movie nights with his beloved and her classmates. At first, he had done it through the zeta tubes but after gaining their trust just enough to be in on the Miraculous Team of Paris, his trips became a lot more frequent. He would make up an excuse about going to a classmate, or Jon’s, house for the night, or to work on a school project. He had gotten away with it for a while, but Tim was the first to notice the lie.
Tim and Conner were having their usually meet up when the Damian had told his family that he was spending time at Jon’s, something that was no unusual. All was fine and dandy until Jon came home with a Damian Wayne. Tim, well it was mainly Dick, had grilled into the young hero about Damian’s whereabouts. Jon either lied or literally had no idea. Which prompted the Batbros to start the search on Damian's weekly disappearance.
Everyone took the day off to “spend time” with Damian. They wanted to trap the teen inside the manor and watch his every movement. Like that isn’t an invasion of privacy or trust.
Alfred brought Damian to the manor around noon. This gives them enough time to hide any open-source of weaponry they could find or items that Damian could use against them in battle. That was a lot of items on the list. Dick inquired for Bruce to hold off on the tracking device as a last resort. He wanted to start everything out with a discussion, but Jason laughs that idea out the window as he cleans his guns.
“The young master is residing in his bedroom,” Alfred speaks walking down into the Batcave.
The Wayne family knew this was it.
To: Angel From: Demon
I’m ready.
To: Demon From: Angel
ETA in 5
Damian smirks at his phone. He loves his girlfriend and how quickly she can manage an entire group of classmates and plan a weekly movie night event.
He had packed his belonging that he usually brings with him when he does to Paris. Which isn’t much.
Four minutes.
Damian thought his ears were playing tricks on him, but they weren’t. He could hear the stampede of footsteps that were no doubt from his family members aside from Alfred. Alfred’s footsteps are like a ghost, you never hear them.
Three minutes.
“Hey little D, since you had a half-day today, why don’t you spend it with us,” Grayson asks the second his bedroom door swings open. Alfred the cat sends a glare to his owner’s family.
“Yeah, Demon spawn, we all took the day off to spend time with you,” Jason adds gas to the fire that was already burning intensely.
“Damian
” Not his father too.
Two minutes.
Damian doesn’t say a word. His eyes bounce from one person to the next and repeat. He didn’t know who to answer them. “Tt.” Was the only word? Sound? That had escaped his lips.
“You need to leave like now.” Damian refuses to have his family find out the very secret he had kept hidden for so long. His quick need for them leaving only pushes them to stay. Worried about various reasons from teen problems to joining the League of Assassins again. They didn’t want to take any chances.
One minute.
Damian could sense the user of the horse kwami becoming active. Soon a blue swirling portal opens up behind Damian. Damian looks at his family and side glances at the portal. The portal wins. The family of vigilantes runs to the portal only for it to close.
“Am I hallucinating or did that just happen?” Tim asks wiping the sleep away from his eyes.
“No, replacement, that really just happened.” Jason states. Tim nods in understanding.
“I’ll do track him down.” Dick sulks at the thought that Bruce was right.
It didn’t take long for the results to come in.
“Uh
so how the hell is the Demon in Paris, France of all places?” Jason shouts from behind his older brother and Bruce.
“The swirling portal thingy?” Tim states the obvious, but it sounded more like a question as he sits down and drinks a cup of coffee.
“Boys we’re going to Paris.”  Bruce states over his sons. From afar, Alfred sighs and goes to prepare the zeta tubes with the destination in mind.
“Uh, civvies or uniform?” Dick asks as they all start to make their way to the zeta tube. This was one of those questions that they linger on for a hot minute.
Before they knew it, Damian had gained an hour over his family.
“It doesn’t matter, we need to know where the little demon has been hiding all this time.” Jason screeches talking over to the zeta tube and teleporting to the location.
Bruce turns to the remainder of his sons who shrugged and follow suit.
Entering Paris, they were further from Damian’s location than anticipated. They follow the tracker with some interruptions. Dick wanted to buy something for Kori, Jason wanted food and Tim needed for coffee. After all that was done, they officially made it to the supposed location of Damian’s whereabouts.
“Why would the little demon at a hotel?”
“Hum, this coffee is really good,” Tim says before taking another sip.
“Boys, focus on the mission.”
“I am focus, Bruce.”
“I didn’t say you were, Dick.”
“TouchĂ©.” Dick rubs the back of his arm.
They enter Le Grand Paris with tensions high and were surprised by how calm and relax the employees were. Jason swears this was just a hoax and they were torturing Damian behind one of these doors. An employee asks them if they are in need of anything. Bruce states that they were looking for his son.
“Is he friends with Chloe and her classmates?” The employee asks.
“Who?” Dick and Bruce ask simultaneously. Jason had dragged Tim off somewhere to look at some things.
The employee eyes the family skeptically.
“Well if he’s not friends with Mlle. Bourgeois, then I suggest heading to the police department and report a missing child.” The employee states before walking away. Bruce sighs and pulls out the tracking device. Damian is so close to them.
“We’re going to find him, right?”
“And drag the brat back to Gotham?”
Bruce in the direction that would be location, he gestures for his children to follow.
Damian was having a blast. In his arms, Marinette sat on his arm clinging to his shirt cursing Kim’s name throughout the film. Kim had chosen a horror movie for tonight’s showing and by kwami it was fantastic. There was no comedic relief, actual horror storytelling leaving the class on the edge of their seats.
Adrien was curled next to Marinette in Luka’s arms. He was also clinging to a body, a certain musician as if he was a frightened kitten.
Just as the MC was about to open the door to the attic, a series of figures jump from the ceiling. Screams in real-life match those within the movie. Popcorn, empty cartons of candy, soda drinks are thrown at the figures. A string of curses follows not long after that.
“Damian, tell your friends to stop.” He knows that voice from anywhere, it was Grayson’s voice. Marinette slides herself off himself.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” He screeches in English. Most of the class didn’t have a clue what was being said.
“We wanted to see where you were?”
“We thought you were kidnapped?”
“I just came for the scenery.”
Damian’s eyes twitch.
“That’s nice and all, but can you move? We’re trying to watch a movie here and you’re ruining it.” Chloe stands up demanding the bat-family to move. They all look to one another before subtly moving away from the screen.
Damian places a quick kiss on Marinette’s cheek and guides his family out of the room. He was not happy that they came in ruining his night with Marinette. Now he has to make up for it with something romantic, not that he’ll do it anyway.
“What made you believe that I was kidnapped?” He asks, the second they were out of the room.
“The portal thingy.”
“You not answering any of our questions.”
Damian breathes through his nose. “You’re all idiots.”
“Well movie night is a bust, but we all agree to stay here to continue rather than going home.” Marinette walks into the hall after a moment of them talking—well it was more of a screaming match between Bruce and Damian with some input from Dick. “Will your family be fine without you for a couple more hours?”
“Habibti, these dunces are my family,” Damian states gesturing to his family,
Marinette nods, “Well then, hello, and can we keep Damian for the night?”
Damian walks over to Marinette and wraps his arms around her. “I’ll return from before it’s nightfall in Gotham, father.”
“Uh, sure. Boys lets go.” Bruce accepts the came and walks down the hall. Before either of the brothers could pester Damian about this newfound relationship, Bruce gave them all the bat-glare and demanded that they follow.
“You know you’re going to get pestered, right.” Marinette laughs.
“Don’t remind me.”
“Come on, we have a movie to finish.”
With that, Damian takes Marinette’s hand and walks back into the room.

The Shell of a Girl that I Used to Know Well
Inspired by "Love of three" by @misashabunbun
Thank you @thestressmademedoit and @maleive07 for helping me find the fic.
So this turned out to be longer than I thought it would be (probably because I based it around like 5 songs) so I'll break it into parts and post each part separately. Oh and did I mention this is songfic? Because it's a songfic! No Felix yet, but you guys do see Peter but I surprise surprise I turned this into an OT4 pairing. Anyone wanna guess who the other lucky person is to date Mari, Peter and Felix? Also bonus points for anyone who can figure out Mari's stage name.
The song in this part in Stitches by Shawn Mendes and The Lonely by Christina Perri is where I got this parts title from. Also the song mentioned at the end is Partners in Crime by Set It Off ft Ashley Costello.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng was grateful for the quiet she found in what she was pretty sure was some kind of presentation room. There was a raised platform which she believes is supposed to be some kind of stage and a couple of tables with chairs surrounding them. She still has no idea how she got here, she was just trying to find some peace. She knew her pseudo Uncle and her friends meant well but they were suffocating her. It's been over a week since she left that bastard, not likely that he even noticed. Since Marinette has gotten to Stark Towers everyone has been treating her like she's about to break and she can't stand it. Yes she's hurt, but like give her a chance to fall apart before trying to shove her back together again! Marinette took a deep breath to calm herself as she sat on the little stage to work on the embroidery she was putting on the back of the blouse. She already had a full heart there but it was kind of plain. She wanted to add something but she didn't know what.
She sighed softly. At times she really missed Tikki being around to be her second opinion.
Ever since the defeat of Hawkmoth the kwamis asked to be renounced and to have their respective jewelry return the Miraculous box. They were working together to heal poor Nooroo and Dusuu. Even though Marinette had been able to fully fix the peacock Miraculous, as well as heal Emilie Agreste and Nathalie Sancour from the effects of using a broken Miraculous, the two kwamis had to deal with a significant amount of emotional trauma from the whole affair.
Even though the final battle had been won quietly without casualties it had taken a lot out of everyone who had been a part of it. Adrien's relationship with his father has been very strained to say the least. Even though Gabriel is doing his best to right his wrongs, it goes to say that the only reason Adrien even speaks to his father at all is because of his mother who is desperately trying to make up for years lost between the two of them.
While Marinette was trying to think of an idea for her embroidery she started humming a song she had heard recently on the radio. In her eyes it fit her past relationship with Damian Wayne perfectly. Soon enough she was singing softly.
I thought that I've been hurt before
But no one has ever left me quite this sore.
Even on their worst days Lila's lies, Alya's beratings, hell even Mlle. Bustier's looks of disappointment never hurt half as much as Damian's total disinterest did. She had cooked him a nice romantic dinner yet he barely acknowledged her. More interested in whatever, or should she say whoever, was on his phone. After 5 mins of trying to carry the conversation alone Marinette sighed and just decided to eat the meal she worked so hard on. After 10 mins of stiff silence in their shared apartment, only filled with the sounds of Marinette eating and Damian texting, the latter got up. Grabbing his coat he made his way to the door, barely turning his head towards his fiancee to call out "I've got to go. Something came up at work."
Marinette wasn't even shocked anymore, just resigned. Still she tried to reason with the man she no longer recognized. Sometimes she wonders if she ever truly knew him at all. "You just got here. Isn't there someone else who can handle it? You haven't even touched your dinner."
True to her words, the young heir's meal sat completely untouched, quickly cooling in the AC.
"Mari, you know these things are important. Not just anyone can handle them." Damian's words were patronizing at best. It frustrated the young designer, but she didn't let it show.
"Will you be back tonight?" She knew the answer but she asked anyway.
Damian hummed noncommittally as he walked through the door still looking at his phone and not the beautiful young lady in front of him. "Most likely not. Don't wait up for me." He quickly walked out, closing the door behind him. Marinette quickly placed her ear to the door as he walked away from the humble abode. She could hear him on the phone.
"Yeah. I'm on my way, gorgeous. I just left." Silence. "No, she doesn't suspect a thing." Nothing but his footsteps as he continues to leave unknowing of her distress behind the apartment "Perfect. The less you're wearing, the better."
Marinette crumbled to the floor after she could no longer hear him. She had suspected as much but that didn't make hearing it less painful.
Your words cut deeper than a knife
Now I need someone to breathe me back to life
She remembers the first time he truly yelled at her. The way he looked at her with disgust. The way she flinched away from his imposing figure and his cutting words. If tried hard enough she could delude herself that he was doing this out of her best interest. The illusion made even easier to believe by the way he apologized and hugged her after he stopped yelling. The way he told her he was worried about her going out and being made a target to Rogues because of her connection to him. The way he feared that he disguises wouldn't be enough even though he himself didn't recognize her at first when she walked back through the apartment door the day. She believed she was safer staying in the apartment because he said so and he only wants what's best for her. So eventually the walls of their apartment was all she saw 24/7. For her safety of course.
Got feeling that I'm going under
But I know I will make it out alive
If quit calling you my lover
And move on
Marinette's head was spinning. Or was it the room? Was she even breathing? She couldn't focus on any of that. All she could focus on was the picture sitting on the screen on her phone. The phone Damian had bought her. The idea made her feel sick now because all those gifts he was giving her now seemed to have double meanings. Especially when the picture filling her screen was of a naked Lila whose body was hidden behind a sheet lying on Damian's bare chest while he slept. She didn't even think to process how the lying bitch managed to get her number. Instead all she could focus on was tears streaming down her face as she felt her heart shatter. She didn't even process the fact that she left the phone right there with the picture still on the screen and started packing her stuff. She grabbed everything that was hers that she bought herself, later on she'd be surprised at how little that was. She stuffed her things in a small suitcase, put the miracle box in a duffle bag wrapped in her leftover fabric from commissions, grabbed her purse with her wallet and left. After locking the apartment door she slid the key underneath the door so he could have it back. He could have everything back he ever gave her. She was done. She was so distressed she didn't even notice that she had put on the one disguise she had and taken a train to New York until she was standing in the lobby of Stark Tower with her Uncle Tony and her Aunt Pepper holding her while she sobbed.
You watch me bleed until I can't breathe
I'm shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
Tripping over myself
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
Marinette was so engrossed in the lyrics, in her feelings, that she didn't notice the tears falling from her eyes, nor the way she was furiously embroidering the shirt in her hands. And she definitely didn't notice that she had gained an audience.
Just like a moth drawn to a flame
Yeah you lured me in and I couldn't sense the pain
The first time she met Damian it had been an accident. She knew when her classes started she wouldn't have the time to get the fabrics she needed for her last commissions that she agreed to before going on hiatus. She knew juggling her business and school would be hard so told her clients she'd be on break for the unforeseeable future. She was so focused on her phone trying to make sure her list was complete, that she didn't notice the man right in front of her.
"Oh!" She fell back with a little yelp and when she saw what, or who, she ran into she hurried to help them up as well. "I'm so sorry monsieur. Are you okay?"
The man yanked his hand away from her and growled, "You wouldn't be having to ask if you weren't caught up in whatever idiotic nonsense is on your phone."
Marinette fumed silently. "Well excuse me sir, I don't know who you think you are, but that is uncalled for. I apologized and helped you up. All you had to do was walk away. No need to be so rude."
Damian raised an eyebrow at her curiously. "You don't know who I am?"
Marinette crossed her arms still annoyed. "Am I supposed to? You could be the president for all I cared and I still would say you were being rude and disrespectful."
Damian's expression changed slightly to a bit of amused intrigue. "I apologize. I thought you were another fangirl with some kind of ruse to get my attention. If you don't mind me asking, what is a girl like you doing in a city like Gotham? I can tell from your accent you are not from here."
Marinette relaxed a little bit. "I'm here going to college when the semester starts, but right now I was out doing some shopping."
"Perhaps I could join you as a way to apologize for my rude behavior. I could give you a mini tour along the way." Damian smiled softly at her.
"I don't know," apprehension was clear on Marinette's face. "I don't even know you let alone your name."
Damian chuckled lightly. "I assure you, even if you don't know me, the rest of the city does. I won't be able to get away with doing anything to you without being plastered across every newspaper and magazine in town, Angel. But my name is Damian by the way. Damian Wayne." He grabbed her hand and kissed it softly after his introduction.
"A-angel?" Marinette stuttered as she blushed.
"Well, I still don't know your name."
Marinette smiled before introducing herself. "My name is Marinette. Your company would be much appreciated, Damian"
Your bitter heart cold to the touch
Now I'm going to reap what I sow
I'm left seeing red on my own
Sometimes on nights like these Marinette wondered what she did wrong. Because it had to be her of course. Why else would Damian go from her caring, charming, wonderful, Dove to Gotham's very own cold, unfeeling, ruthless, Ice Prince.
"Hi, Damian. You're home early." Marinette tried not to let the hope seep into her voice. She had a feeling she wasn't successful.
Damian barely grunted at her as he continued to their room. "My idiots brothers dragged me into spending some time with them so I'm forced to change into something less formal."
"Oh okay." She knew she did an even worse job of hiding her disappointment. "You know I finished Uncle Jagged's outfit the other day. He loved it."
Damian hummed noncommittally. She knew he wasn't paying attention, he never was but she kept trying.
"You know how he's doing that "World's Greatest" Tour. Celebrating the hero's of the world in their respective cities. Luka's been opening for him. His career has really taken off. Hell I'm sure half the tickets Uncle Jagged sells are people just trying to see Luka. He'll have to tour solo soon."
"I bet." Damian's voice was muffled from being the closet, but she could still hear the disinterest in his voice.
She sighed as she leaned against the doorframe of "their" room. It was only theirs in name the fact that his clothes were there. She spent almost every night there alone. She took a deep breath trying to gather her courage for what she was going to ask. "Well they wanted to thank me for the outfits. Claimed the tour would have been half as successful without them. They invited me to take me out to dinner tonight to catch up, then for me to hang out backstage during their show. They said they missed me." Marinette hoped he still wasn't paying attention, but as soon as he settled his famous glare on her, she knew she wasn't that lucky. She flinched into herself under his gaze.
"Marinette. You know what would happen if you left this apartment. The famous Wayne Heir's sweet vulnerable fiance. The one never seen in the media anymore. You would get off this block before your picture would be on every media outlet in the city. Then you would be the Rogues target for the night. They would go anywhere you would be. Including the concert. Would you really be so selfish to endanger hundreds, possibly thousands of innocent concert goers just to 'hang out' with people you can see any time you please?" The disappointment on his face and the coldness of his delivery had her feeling ashamed. She hung her head low trying to hold back the tears.
"I'm sorry." She knew her voice was barely above whisper, but if she tried to speak any louder she knew she'd open the flood gatesp.
Damian brushed past her. "You should be. I'll be heading to the concert with my brothers. I'll inform Jagged of your apologies for not coming."
"Just telling him I'm sick." She offered weakly still not looking up from the floor.
She could feel his judgeful look on her. "Of course not. He'll insist on coming to check on you then he'll see your lying. I'll tell him you're busy with commissions." He left her standing there as headed to leave again. She heard his phone ring and he answered it harshly. "I'm coming down, Todd!" "Of course not, you imbecile! She's a serious designer who can't be bothered out of her schedule to spend time with my idiotic brothers, especially when she's up to her nose in commissions!" She heard the door shut after that statement. I guess her soon to be brothers in law didn't know the real reason behind her lock down either. She stood there for a few more moments before she broke down into loud heavy sobs. She collapsed to her knees and just cried. Not for the first nor last time in that prison she called an apartment.
Got feeling that I'm going under
But I know I will make it out alive
If quit calling you my lover
And move on
You watch me bleed until I can't breathe
I'm shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
Tripping over myself
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
Needle and the thread
Gotta get you out my head
Her hands were moving furiously as she was trying to rid her mind of her cruel ex.
Needle and the thread
Gonna wind up dead
She wanted to forget everything about him.
Needle and the thread
Gotta get you out my head
His smile, his laugh, the loving look in his eyes.
Needle and the thread
Gonna wind up dead
His kisses, his hugs, the way he held her like he was afraid of losing her
Needle and the thread
Gotta get you out my head
His scowl, his glare, his need to hide her from the world
Needle and the thread
Gonna wind up dead
His distance, his apathy, the way he was happy in any other girl's arms but her's
Needle and the thread
Gotta get you out my head
Get you out of my head.
She wanted to forget loving him and hating him. She wanted her happiness back
You watch me bleed until I can't breathe
Shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
Tripping over myself
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I'm without your kisses
I'll be needing stitches
And now that I'm without you kisses
I'll be needing stitches
I'll be needing stitches.
As she finished singing she awoke from her haze. She felt the tears on her face and wiped them away before looking to see what she had made. The simple heart from before now had a jagged line down the middle that stopped a quarter of the way to the bottom to represent a break. From the bottom it looked like the heart was dripping. The most noticeable change was the crude yet tasteful stitches that laid over the break in the heart. They weren't neat as if she were suggesting they were professionally done. The way she laid them subconsciously represented as if they were self done by someone trying their best.
While she was studying her impromptu embroidery a voice surprised her. "It looks nice."
She looked up in shock to see a brown haired boy around her age, 21 maybe 22, sitting at the table closest to the stage she was on. He looked as if he had been there for a while.
"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I heard you singing so I came to see who it was because you have a beautiful voice, but then I saw you crying and I wanted to make sure you were okay, but you seem really focused and I didn't want to interrupt, but I didn't want to just leave you either, but- I'm sorry I'm rambling. My name is Peter. Are you okay?" The boy, Peter, asked her softly, looking concerned. For Marinette it was enough.
She had sat in the chair next to him and finally let out everything she was holding in. The tears were flowing freely now "I don't know. I'm so mad, so hurt, so confused. Where did it go wrong? One minute I'm getting my business degree at Gotham University, the next I'm in a relationship with Damian Wayne. It was amazing he was so kind and sweet and loving and he made me so happy. Then next thing I know after dating for about a year and half he proposes. I'm on cloud 9 and I say yes and I'm so excited for what's to come, but suddenly everything changes. Next thing I know he's saying I can't leave the apartment because he wants me to be safe from the Rogues and I accepted it. Then he's yelling at me for trying to sneak out and I'm thinking I deserve it. I should have just stayed home and he's already apologizing for yelling. Then suddenly he's gone more and more. He's never home and I'm alone and it hurts. Then suddenly I'm selfish for asking to go out to see my friends because how can I put everyone at risk just to go see some friends who I can see anytime I want. Yet nobody is ever allowed over. But I still believe he's right. How can I be So now I'm alone and miserable and it hurts because he keeps getting further and further from me and I'm starting to suspect what's going on but I'm too scared to ask him because if he confirms it, then everything I believed in is a lie and I couldn't live with that. But I didn't even have to ask because soon someone is sending me a picture and it's the girl who made my school life hell by taking everyone I thought was my friend away from me with a few far fetched lies, and here she is laying naked on my fiance's naked chest as he sleeps. And I know he knows who she is and what she did to me because I told him. Yet he doesn't care because here he is fucking her while I'm at home all the time because he told me to be. So I grabbed my stuff and left everything he ever got me and just left. So here I am miserable staying with my Uncle Tony trying not to think about the asshole while my friends try to help me feel better yet I feel terrible because I loved the jerk and I still kinda do and I still have the engagement ring which I should pawn, but it was Bruce's mom's ring and that would be wrong and Bruce would be devastated. Why do I care so much about him and his family when he couldn't be bothered with me?" She felt better after finally letting it all out. She hadn't cried since she came to Uncle Tony. Not when Adrien arrived with Kagami, Marc, and Nathaniel, not when Luka arrived with Uncle Jagged and not even when Chole and Alix arrived. All her friends and pseudo family were there yet she hadn't cried once, nor had she actually told them the full story. But here this stranger asked if she was okay and she let it flow like Niagara Falls.
If Peter was shocked by her rant he didn't let it show. Instead he placed a hand on her before speaking softly "Because you are an amazing person who is a million times better than him. He is insane to choose anyone over you especially someone so foul as a desperate liar. I just met you, but I can already tell that you are a kind hearted, talented girl and anyone would be lucky to have you in their lives and I can tell by the crowd over there by the door that you have many people standing with you who already figured that out." Marinette looked up at his words to see her friends and pseudo uncles and their respective wives standing in the door.
"Hi guys." As soon as Marinette finished speaking they all rushed towards her. Adrien reached her first pulling her into a tight hug.
"Oh bugaboo, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Are you okay? Why didn't you tell us, princess?" He buried his face in her neck purring slightly in a way that calmed her.
"I guess I was still processing everything kitty. He really had me thinking he loved me and to find out he didn't was a hard blow." She confessed quietly.
"He'll meet my blade for hurting you, Mari," Kagami seemed to have Chole, Alix and surprisingly, Marc ready to back her.
"No, Gami, I just want to get over him. He's not worth it." Mari remarked sadly before smiling at her friends. "But thank you, all of you, for having my back."
There were various "Of course" and "Always" that were heard among the group before Tony Stark cleared his throat. "Marinette let me properly introduce Peter Parker, my intern. Peter, this is my niece Marinette Dupain-Cheng also known as MDC owner and head designer of Miracle Designs."
Peter looked star struck. "I love your work. You make the coolest clothes on the planet."
Marinette blushed lightly. "Thank you, Peter. Uncle Tony told me much about you and I was always impressed. You're nothing short of a genius." Marinette missed Peter's blush as she started introducing her friends to him, but Tony didn't.
"This is Adrien Agreste, former model and Physics major. This is Kagami Tsurugi, world champion fencer. This is Luka Couffanie, singer songwriter signed under Jagged Stone. They're dating. This is Nathaniel Kurtzberg and Marc Anciel creators of Miraculous Tales comic. They're engaged. This is Chole Bourgeois, the best lawyer in all of France and probably Europe. And this is Alix Kubdel, X Games Winner, and famous archeologists. These two are also engaged. I'm sure you know Jagged Stone and his manager and also his wife, Penny."
"You guys are amazing! None of you look much older than me yet you're already so successful! What is in the water in Paris? Some kind of talent steroids?" Peter was amazed.
"Speaking of talent," Luka turned towards Marinette. "Melody why didn't you tell me you could sing like that?" Soon everyone was agreeing that she was an excellent singer.
Marinette was bright red. "It's no big deal guys. I was just singing to myself, I wasn't expecting an audience."
Jagged took his chance to pull his pseudo niece into a hug. "Nettie, my girl you have got to let me sign you. It would be so rocking to have talent like yours produced under my label!"
"No way Uncle Jagged! I'm not even that good!" Marinette began protesting before Luka put a hand on her shoulder.
"How about this? I need some vocals for a song I wrote and no matter how much I love them, my dear boyfriend and girlfriend can not sing." Adrien and Kagami looked at each other before shrugging. No point denying it. "How about you feature in my new single under an alias and if it's hit you'll give an album a try?"
Marinette looked around at some of the most important people in the world to her before sighing and agreeing.
"Alright. But no promises that this will be hit. I'm really not that good. You guys are just biased."
Alix ruffled Marinette's hair. "Whatever you say, DC. Now let's go play some UMS3!"
As everyone was heading out to find a room large enough for all of them Peter prepared to go back to work on a project until Marinette turned back to him with a huge smile and bright eyes. "Come on Peter! Come play with us."
How could he say no to that? So he came along.
A couple weeks later Luka's single "Partners in Crime" featuring Neon Titanium hit number one on the charts. And the most searched inquiry on Google for 3 days following was "who is Neon Titanium?" Needless to say Marinette was busy for the next couple months. Especially after Luka dropped a music video which she starred in as well wear a full face mask to stay hidden.

Scandal
LadyNoir July 2021 Day 14: Scandal
Read on AO3
When Ladybug landed on the rooftop for patrol one night, she wasn’t expecting Chat Noir to be sitting there, laughing at his phone.
She sighed, having a pretty good idea of what he was laughing at.
Chat Noir looked up at his partner with a sober expression. “Why, M’lady. How could you do this to me? And with a model! Oh my heart, it breaks!” Dramatically clutching his chest, Chat Noir fell back onto the roof.
“Seriously, Chat?” She deadpanned, a headache already starting to form. “You know I already heard about this from Alya.”
“Well maybe if you hadn’t been caught kissing The Adrien Agreste, we wouldn’t be the top news story of the day.”
“How was I supposed to know they would spot us! You said no one would look down that alley! What if I had been transforming?”
He propped himself up on his elbows at that. “Well, that would have been an unfortunate end to our day, now wouldn’t it?”
Rubbing her temple, Ladybug suppressed another sigh. “If you’re so heartbroken over my kiss with The Adrien Agreste, maybe we should patrol separately tonight.” Throwing out her yo-yo, Ladybug hid her smile. She could hear him getting up, presumably reaching out to stop her, but she was faster.
Peeking over her shoulder, she could see his grin as he extended his baton, ready to chase her across the city.
~~~
Of course, it only got worse from there.
Turning to reporters after an akuma battle later that week, Ladybug expected questions about akumas or Hawkmoth. Not, well
“Ladybug! Ladybug! Is it true? Are you cheating on Chat Noir with Adrien Agreste?”
“Ladybug, what can you tell us about Adrien Agreste?”
“Ladybug, how does your relationship with Adrien Agreste affect your partnership with Chat Noir?”
She could have sworn she heard Chat snickering at the last one.
“Does anyone have any questions related to -”
“Ladybug! Who’s a better kisser: Chat Noir or Adrien Agreste?”
She definitely heard Chat Noir laughing at that one.
“Alright, if no one has any relevant questions, Bug out!”
Chat’s laugh chased her all the way home
Even Tikki laughed at her misfortune. Thankfully, the kwami wasn’t telling her off for kissing her boyfriend (because really, who expected someone to stick a camera down that specific alleyway?) but instead was trying to help Marinette brainstorm a way out of this. It was too clear of a picture, and had been too long to refute that they were doing anything but kissing. The way their hands were tangled in the other's hair? The way his eyes were closed as he faced the camera? Even the way their foreheads pressed together made what they were doing incredibly obvious.
And now? Now Ladybug had to come up with a plan to explain why she had been kissing Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s boyfriend, when the city was convinced she was dating Chat Noir. Which she was, but the city didn’t know that. Nor did they need to know the real truth behind their messy love square.
Chat’s suggestions that night didn’t help either.
“What if I happen to bump into Marinette and we happen to get caught kissing?”
Ladybug thought she’d fall off the roof she was sitting on as she rolled her eyes.
“And what? Do you want the entire city of Paris to think we’re in some kind of throuple? Some sort of open relationship?” She rubbed her face to avoid looking at his smirk. “Just how well would that go for hiding our identities? Especially when Ladybug and Marinette are never seen together and Adrien and Chat Noir can’t show up to the same events? Plus, how do you think that scandal is going to fare with Gabriel Agreste?”
Chat frowned at her, silently considering other options.
“I guess we could just wait it out, I’m sure people will get bored and move on to some other story.”
For all the good luck she got from being Ladybug, she’d really hoped it would help with this situation. Maybe she’d been too hopeful.
When Chat Noir landed on the rooftop to start patrol a week later, Ladybug was shoving a magazine under his nose before he could even say hello.
“Seriously? It’s been a week! There’s been 3 Akumas! Why is this still front page news!”
“Are you really surprised? A teen model caught in an alley with Paris’s favorite superhero?’
“Second favorite.”
“Uh-huh, sure. But Chat Noir isn’t on any of these covers-” she cut him off, pointing to a comically small version of the hero in the corner of the magazine cover. Where they’d gotten a photo of him looking so sad, she wasn’t sure. “Okay, but the gossip isn’t getting in the way of you trying to deal with akuma victims.”
“I get stopped as both Adrien the model and Chat Noir the hero to be asked about my feelings for Ladybug!”
“You get asked about that because you said in that interview Ladybug was your celebrity crush!”
“What was I supposed to do? Lie?”
Ladybug dropped her face into her hands, trying not to scream.
“Chat, what am I supposed to do? Nadia tried to get a camera in my face during an Akuma attack on Thursday, and I got stopped on my way to school on Friday morning. My parents keep saying it makes for nice business, but all the press is going to drive the regulars away! Not to mention how much harder it is to keep this city safe if they keep trying to distract me from the Akuma!”
Chat Noir reached out to place a hand on her soldier.
“I’d be happy to get caught kissing Marinette any day of the week.”
Reaching out blindly, Ladybug slapped her partner’s arm.
“Have you talked to Rena? Or considered using Trixx yourself? I know, I know -”
“Kwamis and their miraculous should not be used for selfish gain,” Ladybug looked up as Chat raised an eyebrow at her.
“But would it really be a bad idea? I mean, they are interfering with your daily life and our ability to do our jobs. At what point does selfish gain become keeping the city safe?”
Ladybug sighed. “Chat, we just have to deal with it. I don’t know what else to do at this point. Hopefully no one else gets aumatized over it.”
“I know what you mean. Any more and I’ll lose the bet with Alya.”
Chat Noir’s laughter filled the air as Ladybug jumped up to tackle him.
~~~
The ‘Ladrien’ headlines finally ended 3 weeks after the initial photos were taken
only to be trumped by a photo of Chat Noir kissing Marinette on the balcony of her apartment.
When she threatened to throw him off the Eiffel Tower the next day, there was genuine fear she meant it.

I didn’t so much fall in love - It kicked me in the face Chapter Six
Several days later, Marinette was making decent progress on the suits for the Wayne family - she had the bulk of the work finished, thanks to a night of insomnia, now she just had to do the final fittings and line them. It was a bit backwards, but the linings were intricate enough that she didn’t dare do it until she made sure the silhouette was perfect. She hadn’t spent hours hand-painting silk for it to sit wrong inside the suit-coats.
Bundling up her precious work, Marinette took Leo’s hand, leaving the hotel where a car was waiting for them.
“Did you bring the tie for Monsieur Alfred, Maman?” Leo asked, a sparkle in his eyes.
“Of course I did,” Marinette said, showing it to her son. “Do you think he’ll like it?”
Leo scrutinized the article of clothing before solemnly nodding. “It’s what he needs. He’s
 sad.”
A chill ran down Marinette’s spine - Leo always seemed to know so much more than should be possible. But
“I’m glad that you like to make everyone happy, ma cher.”
“I want Maman to be happy most of all.”
Marinette blinked. “But I am happy, Leo. I have you, what more could I need?”
“You try to hide it, but you get sad sometimes. You want the same kind of happy that grandmere and grandpere have, the happy you get from a person you like a lot. I want Maman to be happy.”
“Leo,” Marinette murmured, her breath catching slightly. She hadn’t made any attempts at dating since
since Leo came along. In the beginning she’d been an emotional wreck, but she’d put the circumstances of his conception behind her years ago. With love, support, and therapy, she was
 okay.
“We’re supposed to be in Gotham,” Leo affirmed. “It will help you be happy.”
“I’ll
” Marinette faltered, unsure how she was granted such a perfect child. “I trust you, Leo. I’ll look for opportunities. But no one can possibly make me more happy than you do.”
“Not more happy,” he assured her, patting her hand. “Different happy.”
That left Marinette blinking away tears when the driver announced their arrival at Wayne Manor. She took the time to thank him before clambering out of the car, Leo in tow.
None other than Alfred himself greeted them at the door, perfectly composed as always. “Miss Dupain-Cheng, you’re certainly welcome here, but I am currently the only other person home at the moment. The men won’t be available for their fittings for a while.”
“Thank you, Alfred. And it’s Marinette, please,” she said with a smile. “But this works out perfectly. I wanted to chat with you for a moment or two.”
“Please come in, then. May I offer you some tea?”
The three settled down comfortably, Leo gnawing on a cookie as Marinette tried to figure out how to broach the topic of
 well, anything.
“Maman, give it to him,” Leo prompted.
“You’re absolutely right, Leo,” she said, retrieving a small gift bag. “For you, Alfred.”
“Miss Marinette, I couldn’t! You are a guest of the Wayne family, you shouldn’t feel obligated to make anything for me!”
“It was no obligation, I enjoyed it. Besides, it was partially at the request of a mutual friend.”
He hesitantly opened the bag, gingerly pulling out the tie, his hand shaking every so slightly. It was a beautiful piece of silk, carefully embroidered with intricate peacock feathers, the fabric a deep blue, exactly the same shade as -
“Duusu,” he breathed. “Is he well?”
“Would you like to ask him yourself?” Marinette nodded to Leo, who carefully placed a miraculous box on the coffee table.
“He told me of the other kwami,” Alfred said hesitantly, “and I felt something about you when we first met, but I thought it was just old age effecting me. If you don’t mind me asking, how-”
“Marinette is Ladybug!” Duusu chirped, startling both adults. “You two were taking too long, so Leo let me out.”
“Duusu, my old friend. It’s been decades.”
Marinette concentrated on stirring her tea intently, graciously giving the older man the emotional space that he needed and ignoring the tears that were building in his eyes.
“Alfie! I never thought I would get to see you again!” Duusu chirped, excitedly flying around the man’s head.
“We’ll give you some time alone,” Marinette said softly, leading Leo out of the room. When the door closed behind them, she patted his head. “You did an excellent thing. I think you just made Monsieur Pennyworth very happy.”
“We both did, Maman.”
“We did good, squirt.”
It wasn’t long before Alfred emerged, cupping the peacock broach in his hands with the utmost care.
“There is still some time before the family arrives for their fittings. I was preparing to make some desserts to serve with tea. This is not a demand or a request, but if you would like to help, I would not be opposed.”
“What do you think, Leo? We haven’t gotten to bake since we left Paris. Tikki would probably enjoy some fresh cookies.”
Before the child could respond, the kwami in question flew into sight. “I think that’s a great idea!”
********
For once in his life, Tim got home sooner than expected. A meeting had been cancelled, and his personal assistant seemed more worried about his lack of sleep than normal. Admittedly, he’d spent far too much time researching Ladybug. He couldn’t seem to wrap his head around everything he’d seen, not to mention the fact that the entire city of Paris had been able to keep their heroes a secret, especially as tourism had only increased since her debut.
There was one thing in particular that Tim couldn't stop thinking about. In all of the clips of Ladybug, (and he had watched all of them), there was one move she repeated not infrequently, a certain pivoting high kick that he had recently been introduced to. It was curious that Marinette was able to execute it so well, but it wouldn’t be the first time a civilian had imitated a vigilante’s moves. It was just
 curious.
Also curious was the smells that greeted him upon opening the manor door. Alfred’s cooking always smelled good, but Tim was fairly certain that this was what heaven was supposed to smell like. He couldn’t help but follow the scent to the kitchen.
“Maman, the frosting needs more color,” a small voice said.
Leo was standing on a stool, stirring his bowl of frosting carefully enough that his apron wasn’t necessary in the least. Tim felt his heart skip a beat when Marinette turned around to help her son with a smile. Her eyes were soft, and unlike her son, her apron was covered in flour and flecks of batter. He swore his knees went weak when those eyes landed on him and she smiled like he was the sunshine in her life.
It was the way he remembered his mother smiling at his father.
“Leo, Monsieur Tim is  home. Say bonjour!” she said, pointing. “Why don’t you explain what we’re making?”
“Bonjour, Monsieur Tim. Maman and I got here early, so we wanted to make treats for your family like my grandmere and grandpere make treats for me when I get home from school,” Leo said, his eyes the only indication of his excitement.
“So what are you teaching Alfred to make?”
“We’re making madeleines, a personal favorite of Leo’s. But no one does madeleine like a Dupain-Cheng.”
Tim glanced around smirking. “This looks like a lot more than just madeleines.”
“Well, Alfred wanted some tips on making macarons, and
I was raised by bakers, making small batches of anything has never been my strong suit. Luckily, I hear sweets don’t last long in the Wayne household.”
Neither Marinette nor Tim saw the look exchanged between the butler and the boy, but Alfred was soon clearing his throat. “Miss Marinette, I think Leo and I have things handled here if you would like to begin Master Tim’s fitting.”
“Are you sure? I can-”
“We’re fine, Maman,” Leo interrupted. “Someone needs to tell Monsieur Alfred when to take out the macarons.”
Marinette looked surprised. “Well, it seems my son has taken to Alfred. As long as he doesn’t mind, I guess it’s just you and me.”
“It’s a privilege, Miss Marinette,” Alfred promised. “Go on, you’ve got a job to do.”
Tim felt inexplicably nervous, and excited, and - did Alfred just wink at him?

Author’s Note:
This might be the last of the daily updates, but I don’t forsee the rest of the story taking much longer to write. We’re pretty much halfway in, so prepare yourselves. I’m also contemplating writing a sequel when Leo is a bit older, that could be a lot of fun. Let me know if you want to be tagged, or if I missed you!

Part 1 - The bet
“Pound it!” Ladybug and Chat Noir’s gaze locked as they fist bumped after the latest akuma attack.
The fight hadn’t been that hard and they still had a couple of minutes to spare. Luckily, because the students of Françoise Dupont didn’t seem to want to let them go; Alya especially was pressing on their ribs like a thorn.
“Can you spare a word for the Ladyblog?” she asked excitedly, while plenty of other voices came from everywhere and nowhere, “Please, Ladybug, can I have an autograph?” “Chat Noir! Chat Noir, please smile at the camera!” The warning beep of their Miraculous rang worryingly unheard in the confusion.
“Sorry, guys, but we need to go,” tried to say Ladybug before being wrapped in yet another hug for a picture by yet another student. “Yes, it’s time to s-cat
” But the students still didn’t seem to want to let them go. Eventually the beep became stronger and Chat Noir grabbed Ladybug bridal style and, using his baton, he lifted both of them up and off from the crowd.
“As we said already: sorry, guys, we need to go!” He jumped out of the way, to then fall unnoticed in front of the door of the locker room.
“We don’t have time to find a place to hide!” said Ladybug worriedly.
Chat Noir sighed. Out went his chance of pretending that he didn’t know the school. “Come with me, there’s a place that I know.”
He grabbed her hand and dragged her away (just in time, because the locker door opened as soon as they moved and Chat Noir didn’t want to know who the student that had just come out of it was). He ran with her and reached the side of the library, quickly opening a closet door and disappearing inside it with her, closing it behind them. He had just done that, that in a flash of green and pink, their transformation fell. They could only turn around and stand back-to-back, their hearts racing in their chests. Tikki and Plagg came out of their Miraculouses with a twirl and fell into their hands.
“Gamin, that was close,” said Plagg panting.
“I need food, *burp*!” Tikki burped purple bubbles. “Whoops, sorry,” she concluded.
Marinette reached for her little purse and took out a macaron, which she handed to her little red friend gently. The kwami picked it up and started chewing on it with a thankful gleam in her eyes. On the other side, Plagg was doing the same with a slice of cheese.
“I’ve never seen this closet, Chat Noir,” said Marinette, sitting down on the ground, immediately imitated by her partner behind her. She pulled her legs close to her chest and rested her chin on her knees.
Chat Noir fell silent for a long time. A suspiciously long time. After an even longer time, Marinette cleared her throat. “Elementary school, huh?”
Chat Noir was silent again. Only after a little while did she hear him say shakingly, “I had to say something.”
Marinette’s heart pounded in her chest. Was he admitting it? Was he a student at Françoise Dupont too? Marinette knew that she shouldn’t ask this information. She really shouldn’t, because it could jeopardise his identity, but she didn’t think before connecting her brain to her mouth. “So that’s why Plagg was here.”
She felt his head shoot up behind her and rest against the back of hers. “Careful, M’lady. Tikki was here too.” Her heart started pounding in her chest. Shoot. After all her hard work during the Kwamibuster’s fight, it only took one sentence to blow her carefully crafted cover.
She chuckled dryly. “So what? It’s a big school, there are hundreds of girls and boys studying here, Chat Noir. It’s not as if you’re sitting in front of me in class.”
Tikki facepalmed. Why did Tikki facepalm?
“I could,” came his voice from behind her back.
Her dry chuckle turned into a laugh. “Yeah, right
that would be close to impossible. Just think about it!”
“Why? Who’s sitting in front of you? A girl?” he asked. She didn’t like the tone of doubt in his voice as he asked that. Nor did she like the fact that he sounded as if he was genuinely interested and inquiring.
“Chat? We shouldn’t have this conversation. It’s already dangerous enough that now we both know that we attend the same school. It’s too dangerous to reveal our identities while Hawkmoth is still around.”
She clearly felt him tense behind her back. “Why is that, Buginette? What would change? You already know the identity of all the other holders, and you also have the entire Miracle Box hidden somewhere. If Hawkmoth gets his hands on the Miracle Box we would have a really hard time fighting against a whole team of superheroes. It would be dangerous anyway. What would change if we knew each other’s identities?”
Marinette sighed. His words rang true to her and she couldn’t deny that she had thought about it a few times and had always come to a similar conclusion. What was it that was wrapping such fear around her heart when she so much as considered the idea of revealing her identity to him? “Please, Chat, you know we can’t.”
She felt him crouch over himself. “It’s just
frustrating. We were talking about it the other day, Plagg and I. He was also there saying that because you’re the Guardian I should know who you are and you should know who I am. What happens if he’s sick, M'lady? Or if anything happens to me and I can’t return my Miraculous to you? The Black Cat is a powerful weapon in the wrong hands. You can’t afford to lose it like Master Fu did with the Butterfly and Peacock.” He said all of that in just one breath, or at least Marinette thought he did, because there was no pausing in between his words, it was all coming out at once.
“Wow, you have really put some thought into it,” she concluded.
She had to admit that what he had said again rang true to her. She knew that kwamis could get sick. Tikki had been sick once, after all; Plagg could be next. And the time Tikki had been sick, she had had to take Marinette to the Guardian. What if Plagg was so out of it that he wouldn’t be able to tell Chat Noir where to go?
“You know, Chat Noir has a point,” said Tikki in a very low voice. Marinette looked at her warily.
“I know, Tikki.” She sighed and hugged her legs more tightly, frowning looking at the air in front of her face. “I know, you’re right, chaton.” She heard his loud gasp from behind her and added quickly, “However
even though I know you’re right I still—I still can’t get myself to do it.”
“But why? Why, M’lady? Why don't you trust me? I know I’ve been a bit unreliable when you left for New York, but I had been forced to go myself. And beside then, did I ever give you any reason for—”
“No, you didn’t, Chat,” she interrupted his ramble. “And I know you’re right but
” She felt her throat clenching shut and tears starting to prickle at the corner of her eyes. “I don’t know what to do. The truth is that I’m scared. I’m terrified to change our balance. We’ve worked so well as a duo up to now, if we reveal our identities and the balance changes
”
“What would change? We would just put an unmasked face and a name in the equation. Why would it change anything if I think of you as Ladybug or... Marcelline or Martha or Marvel or Marinette?”
Marinette gasped so loudly that she had to move and peeked quickly by opening a small crack on the closet door to make sure that nobody had heard and was going to open the door on them all of a sudden.
“Are you okay?” asked Chat Noir. “Did I say something wrong?”
Marinette blushed crimson even though she knew that he couldn’t see it because he was back to back with her. How did he still remember the only slip up she had ever had about her identity, that first day when they faced Stoneheart? “Uh, no, you didn’t say anything wrong. You’re right.” Her breath caught. “I-I m-mean ,y-you’re r-right in y-your theory
”
She felt Chat Noir scratch his head. “Yeah. What else could I be right about?”
“N-nothing
”
It was Chat Noir’s turn to gasp. “I got your name right, didn’t I? Your name is one of those!” She couldn’t avoid tensing up and that was all he needed to confirm his suspicions. “M’lady, you know that, whoever you are, I would love you regardless.”
Marinette chuckled. “You always say that, minou, but would you really?”
“I swear I would! That day when we faced Stoneheart, when you spoke with Hawkmoth the first time, I saw the way you put your fears aside and faced that monster all by yourself. I heard the way you spoke to reassure the people of Paris that we were going to protect them, even if we both didn’t have a clue how things would have worked out. You were so brave, so passionate, so fierce, so compassionate, so
amazing. I felt something break in me and next thing I knew I was head over heels in love with you.”
“Chat, I’m not fierce and brave in real life!”
He grabbed her hand with his and Marinette jumped a little for the skin to skin contact. That time when the faced Knight Owl she had touched his naked hand, but it hadn’t felt half as intimate as this. “I’m sure that you are, Buginette.”
“And
I could be very ugly. Very fat. I could be a boy for all you know.”
“You wound me, M’lady. I’m not that shallow. I fell in love with the girl within.” Then he fell silent for a long moment and Marinette could feel the mad beating of her heart right into her ears. “And you can’t be a boy.”
She tried pulling her hand off his grip but he didn’t let her and started moving his thumb on her bare skin. This caused Marinette’s heart to do funny things in her chest but when she felt how tensed his shoulders were behind her, she realised that probably it was the same for him too.
“You got me,” she said softly. “I’m not a boy.”
“That’s good, because I’m not into other boys, as far as I know.”
Marinette giggled. “Well, after all, you only flirt with girls.”
More silence wrapped up the secluded room. “Can I ask a question?” said Chat Noir’s voice from behind her.
“Yes?” she tentatively answered.
“Why have we started talking about my feelings for you?” He paused significantly. Marinette felt her heart skipping a beat. “I mean, we were talking about revealing identities and you not wanting to do it. Have you caught feelings for me finally, M'lady? Are you afraid I wouldn’t love the girl behind the mask?”
Marinette’s heart did again some funny things in her chest as he said so. She gulped awkwardly. “N-no, I told you I like another boy. That hasn’t changed, Chat.”
She felt him slump his shoulders behind her. Her lips curled in a small smile. “Then why? Why does it matter to you if I would love you without the mask?”
Marinette sucked her breath in. “Uh. I-I d-don’t know. It just b-bugs me every time you say it.”
“Was that a pun, M’lady?” He chuckled.
“Of course not! It really annoys me.” She raised a little her tone of voice as she felt blood rushing to her face again.
“But why would it bother you or annoy you if you didn’t have feelings for me? You know what I think?” He poked her in her back with his elbow until she ‘mh?’-ed dubiously. “I bet you’ve developed some feelings for me and you just don’t want to admit it!” She could nearly hear his smirk.
“Not going to happen, minou. It just annoys me when you say it. As if you could just look at me detransform and accept whatever would come in front of your eyes. I bet that you wouldn’t love EVERYONE who could appear behind the Ladybug mask. There must be someone you would rather be me than anybody else.”
“Wanna bet? Such a shame that there’s no way that I can prove to you the depth of my feelings for you, M’lady or I definitely would.”
“You’re right, there’s no way to prove who would be right or not. I would love to prove to you that I’m definitely not having feelings towards you. You’re just my best friend, chaton.”
She heard Chat Noir behind her take some breath in, as if he was about to answer. But as he did that, they heard someone cough politely, so they both turned towards the origin of the sound and saw Tikki and Plagg looking at them with a gleam of annoyance in their eyes.
“Actually, there would be a way,” deadpanned Plagg.
“But it’s something that hasn’t been done for a very long time, nearly a millennium,” warned Tikki.
Plagg folded his paws to his tiny chest. “Yep. But it has been done and it’s possible, Sugarcube.”
Both Marinette and Chat Noir looked at their two kwamis in amazement. “What are you talking about, Plagg?” asked Chat Noir eventually.
Tikki sighed. “There’s a very, very ancient spell that hasn’t been used for nearly a millennium. It was mostly used for training purposes. Training of our holders.”
Marinette squirmed a little her eyes and looked at Tikki. “What do you mean, Tikki?”
“It’s called ‘the loop’. It’s yet another power that you get when you combine our Miraculouses.” Plagg looked at Marinette very seriously. “It’s not the Wish. It doesn’t change reality for real. It just wraps you two in a loop to learn a lesson.”
“Or to get clarity on a doubt,” concluded Tikki. “It was used solely for spiritual training.”
“How does it work?” said Chat Noir. Tikki sighed.
“You unify us and then ask for the loop. The loop creates a, well, loop, that creates in your mind a repetition of events that can bring clarity in your doubt.”
Plagg continued, “Basically it creates new realities, but only in your head. Since there are no consequences for anybody, as it is only in your head, it is not forbidden in the same way as the Wish.”
“Are you sure it won’t have bad consequences like with the Wish, Tikki?” asked Marinette. “Master Fu has always warned me not to unify you and Plagg.”
“It won’t have consequences that can change the balance of the universe, so in that sense it’s not a bad thing. But it’s still something you should consider very carefully,” pressed Tikki. “It could lead to you two understanding each other’s identities.”
“How?” asked both of them at the same time.
Tikki sighed. “You will understand if you decide to take on the loop. But one thing you need to remember if you do so.” Both teen agers looked very intently at the red kwami. “This loop creates entire realities in your head. You will be unconscious in this world and won’t be able to wake up until in your heart you will get clarity on whether you won or lost your bet. You will be bound in the reality you’re exploring and will have to take any difference between it and the “real world” as fact and just go with the flow. Don’t resist them or the loop won’t work.”
“I don’t know,” sighed Marinette. “It sounds so complicated.” But as she said that, she felt an elbow poking her ribs.
“Come on!” said Chat Noir. “Are you afraid of finding out that you are indeed in love with me, M’lady?”
She sucked her breath in. “No way! Maybe you should be afraid to find out that there’s no way that you can love just blindly whoever it is behind this mask!”
Chat Noir folded his arms on his chest. “There’s only one way of finding out!”
Anger started pooling into Marinette’s heart. Anger and a feeling of competition. Competition because she was being challenged. And she wasn’t the type to give up a challenge without a fight. She would prove to her kitty that she was right.
“Okay then. Give me your ring.” She distinctly felt Chat Noir gulping next to her. She presented her hand to him, expecting him to put the ring in her palm immediately, but the boy hesitated.
“What are you waiting for, Chat Noir? Christmas?”
She heard her partner breathe in to start talking at least four times. But he didn’t say anything and eventually, she felt the heaviness of the Black Cat ring on her palm. With a little sigh, she wore the ring on her own finger, watching as it changed from black to pink.
“Don’t worry, chaton. I will give it back to you,” she said calmly. Then she looked at the two kwamis in front of her and said it firmly, “Tikki, Plagg, Unify!” The two creatures got wrapped in a flash of light and their bodies merged together. Marinette looked down, as the light was very strong and hurt her eyes and heard Chat Noir gasping. “What is it, minou, if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out.”
He sniggered next to her and tsk-ed a couple of times. “Let’s see how cocky you are after you wake up and you realise that you’ve lost, Buginette.”
“Likewise, Chaton!”
When Marinette looked up, she couldn’t avoid widening her eyes. In place of Tikki and Plagg there now was a different kwami. A kwami that brought back memories that she would have preferred to keep buried into her subconscious for the rest of her days. It was a cat-like kwami, but its piercing blue eyes were the same shape as Tikki’s. It was completely snow white with black spots in the places where Tikki had her spots, and antennae at the front of its cat ears.
“I’m Chaoss. Who summoned me?” it said, its voice deep and strong. It sounded a voice too powerful for coming from a kwami that was a mixture of sweet Tikki and goofy Plagg.
“W-we’re the wielders of the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses,” she heard her voice saying without almost realising she was actually saying it. “We want to ask for the loop.”
“Do you know what you’re going to face?” the kwami asked. Its gaze was deep and stern; it didn’t have any of the softness of Tikki or the playfulness of Plagg.
“Tikki and Plagg have told us something about it,” said Chat Noir. Marinette had to force herself to keep her eyes trained on the white kwami, because she hadn’t expected Chat to speak and she had nearly—nearly—turned her head towards him instinctively.
Chaoss’s gaze pierced through their very soul. “I’m amused,” it said with a smirk. “This is going to be great fun.”
“W-what do you mean?” asked Chat Noir, his voice having lost all cockiness all of sudden. He sounded scared. Marinette had to yet again bit her lower lip very hard to resist the urge to turn around to look at him.
“You will experience a series of realities related to your heart’s inner desire. Don’t look at me like that. This is why the loop has only been used for spiritual training. Your inner desire, Black Cat, is to prove to your Lady that your feelings for her are strong and that you love the girl behind the mask truly, no matter who she is or what she looks like.” The kwami smirked and Marinette assumed that Chat Noir must have nodded because Chaoss was looking at him directly when it continued, “You will face exactly that, Black Cat. Are you ready to face the consequences of your choice?”
“I am.” Chat Noir sounded so sure of himself that Marinette’s heart sank. She wasn’t sure at all. All her cockiness was only due to her competitive spirit and now that the possibility of the loop had become real, she didn’t feel confident anymore at all. That and the fact that Chaoss looked really creepy and was digging up memories in her heart that she really wished she had forgotten about.
But she couldn’t give it more thought, because Chaoss’s gaze locked into hers and her whole back tensed.
“And you, Lady Luck.” Marinette blushed crimson, she didn’t know why. “Are you so sure that your feelings towards him are only platonic?”
“Y-yes.”
The kwami’s gaze was so stern that Marinette felt as if it burned a hole in her soul.
“Are you certain that you wouldn’t miss his flirty ways and his puns if he didn’t use them anymore?”
“Yes!” That was much easier to say.
“Funny you say that,” smirked the white kwami. Marinette frowned. “You told him so many times that he’s irreplaceable, right?”
Marinette’s frown deepened. It was like talking to an old friend but to a new person at the same time. “Y-yes?”
“If he didn’t flirt with you and didn’t pun, wouldn’t he be like a different person?” The white kwami gave her again a look that seemed to be piercing her whole soul.
Shoot. She hadn’t thought about it in these terms. She didn’t know what to say and couldn’t bear to hold that icy blue stare, so Marinette lowered her gaze and flushed pink.
“Tell the truth, M’lady, you would miss my puns.” Chat Noir elbowed her jokingly.
Marinette groaned. “No way! I just wis—” but the second she said the word, a red gleam flashed through the white kwami’s icy gaze.
“Enough! Don’t say the forbidden word. Remember what you’re doing, Lady Luck.” The kwami’s voice was so deep and cavernous that Marinette was left terrified.
“I-I’m s-sorry,” she whispered. She flushed crimson. She was the Guardian of the Miracle Box. She was wearing the two strongest Miraculouses in the world, unified. She had nearly inadvertently made the Wish that would change reality. Oh she was SO not ready for this responsibility!
She felt a tight grip clench on her throat and tears started to worm their way out of the corner of her eyes, but before she could utter even one strangled sob, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Once again, he was at her side. He believed in her. He wanted her to feel his support. Her heart swelled for the gratitude that she felt towards the boy next to her. She nearly (again, so nearly) turned towards him, but she refrained from doing so at the last second.
“Tikki and Plagg were right. There’s so much chaos inside your soul that you need the loop to gain clarity and order. Order will make you stronger.” The white kwami started floating higher.
“I thought your name was Chaoss?” asked Chat Noir. “And you want to make order in our souls?”
The little white kwami sniggered. “Yes, Black Cat. There’s no Order without Chaos. There’s no Creation without Destruction. Chaos leads the way to Order in the same way as Destruction leads the way to Creation. Two parts of a whole. You need chaos to create order. You need death to allow life. Creation left alone would eventually produce death.”
“It kind of makes sense,” said Chat Noir.
“In a very twisted kind of way, yeah,” continued Marinette.
Chaoss smirked and flew again higher than their heads. “Good. You don’t need to understand it all, Black Cat and Lady Luck. But there are a couple of things that you do need to understand, and accept.” It turned towards Chat Noir. “You, Black Cat.” Chaoss paused significantly. “You will see many different realities in the loop. One of them will be real.”
“Wh—” started Chat Noir, but Chaoss’s cold gaze turned sterner.
“I won’t say. The first one? The last one? Any one in between? You just need to know that one will be the real deal. I will leave it to you to decide what to do with that information, and with what it will mean to you.”
Then, Chaoss’s gaze moved to Marinette and she couldn’t avoid gulping dryly. “You, Lady Luck.” The white kwami closed his electric blue eyes and sighed before opening them again.
“Your challenge will be different, but no less difficult. Maybe more difficult, in fact. The realities you’ll explore don’t exist. None of them exist. But they exist within themselves and within themselves the people who live them are real. Don’t fight them, or the loop won’t work. Remember that they may be alternate realities to this one, they may not exist, but they are still related to, and very much linked to this reality. You can think of them as ‘what if’s’. You will see, and experience, things that will surprise you. You may be shocked at some points, or feel as if you want to rip your heart out of your chest. But don’t fight the reality. Live it as if it were real. There’s a lesson in each and every of them, and the lesson is true.”
Marinette closed her eyes shut and breathed heavily before nodding. When she opened her eyes again, Chaoss was staring at both of them, a wide smirk on its lips.
“This will be fun. Not for you, but it will be fun.” The kwami flew higher. “Ladybug. Chat Noir. You called for my power and you asked for the loop. You’ve been informed of the consequences of your request. Are you ready to begin?”
Marinette started feeling hot. And cold. And hot again. Her frame was shaking so heavily that her teeth started chattering. “Y-yes.” She nodded a couple of times, as if trying to convince herself that it was okay, even if it wasn’t. She heard Chat Noir say the same thing, with a voice as shaky as hers.
“Good. Get ready to both lose your bets, kids. See you next time!” Marinette widened her eyes. What made Chaoss so certain that they would both lose their bets?
“Wait!” she shouted, moving a hand forward as if trying to stop the white kwami, but the creature’s eyes started gleaming and its body pulsating. The darkness of the room was lit up with a spark of pure energy and Marinette had to close her eyes shut because the brightness was nearly hurting her pupils. She felt as if pulled up by a strong wind and then pulled back down again, almost feeling like falling.
Author's Note
Hi there!
This is my effort for the March 2021 Writer-artist collab. It's an idea I had for a while, and when the artist I was paired with showed some interest on it, I thought 'why not', so here it is! Hope you'll like it :)
In the next chapter, we start getting into the loops. I can only tell you that it will be quite an experience, for both of them. Chaoss wasn't kidding!
I hope you will leave me a comment. What did you think about Chaoss? Chapter 2 isn't written yet, so I don't know when I will update, but you know the drill. I tend to prioritise the stories that receive more feedback, because I feel I let down less people ^^. So if you want to know what happens next and what will they find in the loop... subscribe, comment, put the story in your favourite, leave a kudos... not only it cheers me up, but it also makes me more eager to dedicate my nights to write rather than to other menial activities (like sleeping for example!)
Last but not least, as usual, if you read this and you’re not part of our wonderful Discord server already, but you enjoy reading, writing and talking about Miraculous, please join our Discord server, Miraculous Fanworks (for people on FFN, discord dot gg slash mlfanworks). See you there soon. Not sure when I will update this story but it won't be too long! Promise!

Sprint Fic Challenge 1 - Puppy Eyes
So this whole challenge idea was kind of a whim that we all decided to go for, and I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am! I’m always fascinated to see how different people interpret prompts and what different ficlets result!
Challenge Rules:
The group picks a prompt. Members choosing to participate will write for that prompt in up to three 15 minute sprints. No writing outside the sprints until you have completed all three! After the 3 sprints are complete, you have 24 hours to edit (which can include some new writing to smooth transitions, etc). After those 24 hours, post what you’ve got, either just to the disco or publicly if you like.
Prompt:
"Has anyone ever told you just how adorable you are? Because you really are."
Dedicated to @verfound
This couldn’t be happening, Marinette thought. It just...could not be happening.
Except of course it was happening, because Luka was many things, but at his heart he was a Couffaine, and chaos ran in his blood.
Today chaos was a fluffy white puppy licking Luka’s face with a big pink tongue.
Luka turned soft, awestruck eyes at Marinette.
“No,” she said immediately.
“Marinette,” he—whined. Did he really just whine? Luka? “Please? Look at this!” He held the little puppy up against his cheek. “How can you say no to those eyes?”
“Luka, we can’t just take the first puppy we see!” Marinette sighed, though a smile was tugging at the corner of her mouth. “Let’s at least meet some of the others, okay?”
Luka pouted. “Fine, but my mind is made up. I just know it.”
But his paws, Marinette wanted to protest. He’ll be huge with paws like that! And he was so fluffy...that was a lot of fur to take care of. And his little ears flopped over, which meant a higher risk of ear infections. Not to mention the challenges of keeping white fur clean
and despite Marinette’s best efforts, seventy-five percent of Luka’s wardrobe was still black!
Luka obviously cared about none of these concerns as he turned the pup so he was nose to nose with it again. “Has anyone ever told you just how adorable you are? Because you really are. You are so adorable. And your new mommy knows it too. I have excellent taste.” He kissed the little puppy on the nose, and Marinette knew it was a done deal. This was a battle she was definitely going to lose. Why had she let him single this one out for a one-on-one when it wasn’t even remotely what they were looking for? Damn her stupid husband and his sticky heart, that got instantly attached to the most random things...and people

And puppies, apparently.
They were supposed to get an older dog, something around four years old, out of the puppy stage. Something smallish, calm and laid back like Luka, that would sleep on Marinette’s feet while she sketched and hop up to lick Luka’s face when he got lost in his guitar, and remind them both to stop and eat and get out a little bit.  Something active enough that they’d enjoy walking him around town, but that wouldn’t mind just relaxing on days when they didn’t feel like running around.
And instead, Luka fell in love with a little white fluffball only a few months old, that Marinette was certain had to be at least part Great Pyrenees, and all her careful planning was moot.
“How much is that doggy in the window,” Luka sang, wiggling the little pup back and forth. “The one with the giant blue eyes. How much is that doggy in the window? We need this sweet pup in our lives.” The puppy panted happily, neither pleased nor displeased by the serenade. He licked Luka’s nose again and Marinette couldn’t help melting a little when Luka giggled. “Aw, you’re just the cutest thing. Well.” He leaned a little closer. “Second cutest, let’s be honest.” He glanced at Marinette over the pup’s head and winked.
Marinette put her hands over her face. “This is a disaster,” she moaned.
“It’s not a disaster,” Luka protested, laughing as he set the puppy in his lap. “It’s destiny.”
“It’s you,” Marinette said accusingly, pointing at him. “You and your...your...Couffaineness.”
“Guilty,” Luka shrugged, and then grinned. “And you’re a Couffaine too now, you realize.”
Marinette sighed and threw herself down on the floor next to him. She pouted, but put her hand out for the white puppy to sniff and politely lick. He was awfully cute. She sighed.
“I suppose we can tell them we want to do a home visit. We should make sure he gets along with the...others. And that he can handle your music.”
Luka’s grin faded slightly. “I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”
Marinette looked up at him and Luka shrugged. “I think he might be deaf,” he admitted.
Marinette drew back slightly in surprise. “The paperwork didn’t say anything about it.”
Luka shrugged again. “They have a lot of animals to look after. They might not have noticed yet. I’m not even really sure, it’s just
” He looked down, stroking the puppy’s head. “I just have a feeling.”
Marinette pressed her lips together. Luka was so intuitive, he couldn’t always explain why he reached the conclusions he did, but he was usually right. Careful to move where the puppy couldn’t see her, she snapped her fingers behind its head. The puppy didn’t move or react, only laid his chin on Luka’s knee.
Hardly conclusive evidence, but

“Well, even if he can’t hear it, he needs a name. We have to call him something,” she muttered, and Luka’s grin returned full force. She gave him a warning look.
“I’m open to suggestions,” was all he said, but his delight was obvious as he picked the pup up and cuddled the little furball against his chest.
“Bach,” Marinette said after a moment of thought, and then groaned, putting a hand over her eyes.
“I like it, but why?” Luka laughed, reaching over to pull her hand away and twine his fingers through hers.
“I was trying to think of something musical,” she sighed, rolling her eyes to the ceiling. “And I thought of that movie Beethoven with all the big dogs and then Bach popped in my head and—well
” Luka waited, and she shrugged. “Dogs bark. Bark, Bach. Ugh, just kill me,” she moaned, pulling her hand back so she could cover her face again.
Luka laughed uproariously—and Bach didn’t seem to mind at all. “Oh, darning,” he chuckled when he could finally stop laughing enough to get his breath. “Chat’s rubbing off on you.”
“I know,” Marinette whined. “I’ll never hear the end of it when he finds out. It’s not like we can keep the giant fuzzball a secret.”
“Aw, Marinette,” Luka smiled, and then he leaned over and plopped Bach in Marinette’s arms. “Come on. It’s not that bad.”
“I had a plan,” Marinette insisted, but she couldn’t help nuzzling her face against the soft white puppy fur. “How are we going to take a giant like this on tour?” she grumbled.
“He’s not giant yet,” Luka pointed out. “And if Jagged can manage with Fang, I think we can handle Bach, even if he does turn out a little bigger than we planned.”
“A little bigger,” Marinette snorted...but she really couldn’t argue with that. And he really was cute. And pretty laid back, for a puppy. He’d had a burst of energy when they first let him into the room and then had settled right into Luka’s lap to be petted.
Marinette glanced behind herself at the closed door. “Tikki? Sass? You want to come meet him?” The pup perked up at the emergence of the brightly colored little beings, and turned his head to follow as they zipped around him. He wiggled out of Marinette’s arms and pranced, wagging, and running alongside Sass as the snake kwami zipped across the room and back. But he didn’t react as if they were some kind of fascinating flying chew toy, which was a good sign.
She couldn’t help one more whine, one more tug at her hair, at the destruction of all her plans, but Luka reached out and gently caught her wrist, tugging her over into his lap. He put his arms around her and nuzzled her jaw. “Thank you,” he said quietly. “I promise, we’ll make it work. Even if it wasn’t the plan.”
Marinette sighed, but also smiled. “I know. We always do.” She giggled as the kwamis zipped back into her purse, and then laughed when Bach barreled into her, snuffling around for his new friends. “All right, all right, furball,” she muttered, cupping his muzzle and lifting his nose away from her purse. “I guess we’re gonna have to learn doggy sign language, huh?” she said, leaning down nose to nose with Bach. He stuck his big pink tongue out and licked her enthusiastically. Marinette yelped and pulled away, wiping at her face.
“Watch it, buddy,” Luka laughed, reaching around her to ruffle Bach’s ears. “Those are my kisses. That is non-negotiable.” As if to prove it, he tipped Marinette’s chin up and kissed her softly. “Come on,” he said, nudging her to prompt her off his lap so he could stand. “Let’s go tell the nice lady that, provided the home visit works out, we’re taking this one off her hands.”
Marinette pouted. “The collar I made is never going to fit him,” she grumbled as she got to her feet.

Kwami Christmas
For @quickspinner ‘s Month of Miracles, Day 16: kwami gifts
AO3 _______________________________
"Marinette! What do you want for Christmas? The kwamis want to give you something to show gratitude for how well you treat us" Tikki happily asked.
"Thank you, guys, but I don't need anything. Any material thing, at least" she sighed, sadly. "Thank you anyway. I'm happy to have you around”
Tikki wasn't content with her answer. She had been observing Marinette throughout the years, and she knew her well enough to know when she wasn't happy. And she hadn't been for a while. That's where the gift idea came from, anyway. But
what would make her the happiest?
Tikki entered the Miraculous box and called for a kwami assembly. With Sass and Plagg with their respective owners, Tikki took the role of leader in the box.
"Guys. I need ideas for Marinette's Christmas present. What information have you gathered?" Tikki asked, hitting the improvised table (an empty roll of thread) with her hand.
"What about some cookies?" Mullo suggested. "She loves cookies!" The other kwamis raised their cheerful voices in agreement, but Tikki cut them short.
"No. We can't compete with her parents' cookies. We need something more special. Kaalki, any idea?"
"Let's give her kwami glitter. She'll be fabulous with it!"
"I doubt she would be happy with her body glowing in glitter forever, nor glowing in the dark. Any other ideas? Pollen?"
"What about a crown? She's our queen, isn't she?" 'yes, she is!’ The rest of kwamis responded.
"Mm
could work, but let's consider other ideas. Ziggy?"
"A magic comb! She'll be able to comb her hair without damaging it thanks to the magic!"
"Marinette's hair is already silky and beautiful, but we can add it to the list. Ok, next. Xuppu?"
"A banana tree! I love bananas! I bet she does too"
"Discarded.” ‘Whyyyy’ Xuppu cried at Tikki's blunt rejection. “Trixx?"
“A flying carriage! Like in that story! She could travel anywhere if she had it, even to-"
"Wayzz?"
"What about something that warms her heart?"
Tikki's attention was caught for the first time since their assembly started. "That sounds right. Any idea of what could that be?"
"Hot chocolate? Longg suggested.
"A kwami magic blanket?" Roarr added.
"A love potion?" Ziggy mentioned.
"Isn't that forbidden
?" The ox kwami said.
"Yes, it is." Tikki answered.
"Something made with love?" The rooster kwami said, earning the looks of the rest of the kwamis. "She's been so sad since that boy left Paris..."
"You mean Plagg's owner or-?" Fluff asked.
"That's right!" Tikki finally shouted, hitting the pseudo-table with her hands. "She's been longing for some love. She told me Adrien wasn't what she expected, that she regretted having chosen the wrong boy at that time"
"Do you think she still regrets it, even now?" The pig kwami asked.
"If this is about the blueberry boy, I would say she does" the fox kwami affirmed.
"How do you know that, Trixx?"
"Because I've seen her sighing at his photo before. Haven't you noticed? Her eyes filled with love and hurt. She even cried once"
"Oh, no! Poor Master Marinette!" "Let's help her!" "Yes, let's give her love!" the kwamis cried for their guardian.
"Guys
we can't change people's hearts, you know that
" Tikki said.
"What if he feels the same? It's been a long time but maybe
" Nooroo said.
"You're right! We have to contact Sass and-" Duusu exclaimed.
"We don't even know where he is
He left Paris, didn't he?" The dog kwami asked.
"Oh no
" "what can we do now
?" "Is there a way to contact him?"
"I have an idea. I can go to his sister, my previous owner. I'm sure she'll tell me" The tiger kwami suggested.
"Stop, Roarr. You know everyone has forgotten about the Miraculous. Except those who has used time-related ones, either Sass or Fluff"
"What about Alix, then? My previous owner?"
"Didn't she have a crush on the blueberry boy too? I don't think it's a good idea
" Longg dismissed Fluff’s idea.
The discussion followed for some minutes, but Tikki wasn't listening. She kept thinking what they could do to know if Luka's feelings remained the same. Sass’s kwami cycle was a few years further, but maybe, there could be another way. There had to! Tikki re-read the list:
Cookies
Magic glitter
Crown
A comb
Banana tree
Magic flying carriage
Hot chocolate
Magic blanket
Love
'Music' Tikki thought. Remembering how the blue boy used to play his guitar for her. Her eyes finally glowed in hope. "Guys. I think I've got it!" she exclaimed.
"Really!?" "Tell us!" "Woohoo!"
"I need a minute to check on something. I'll be right back!" And with these words, Tikki left the Miraculous box.
Outside, looking at her surroundings, she saw how Marinette had fallen asleep in her desk. She had her earphones on and trails of tears at the corners of her eyes. Tikki covered her with a blanket and took her earphone out to listen to the music. It was indeed Luka's song, the one he composed for her many years ago.
She then moved into her smartphone and searched for the boy's more recent songs. It had been 5 years since he had left, even more since they first met, but the tune under his songs, even if hidden and faint, remained the same to Tikki's experienced ears: Marinette's tune.
The discovery reassured her plans.
She entered the box again, ready to share her plans with her fellow kwamis.
"Guys! You know how kwamis can't be recorded, right? But that's not entirely true. We can listen to each other's voice recordings. I remember hearing Plagg through the phone before. It's not impossible"
"What's the plan?" Barkk asked.
"I want you to get what's on the list ready for Christmas. Can you do it?"
"Of course!" They all agreed, happily moving to their tasks.
"You'll have the best Christmas present ever, Marinette", Tikki said, kissing Marinette's cheek before secretly using her tablet to carry on with her plan.
_______________________________________________________
And just like that, Christmas arrived.
"Merry Christmas, Marinette!" The kwamis congratulated the guardian. Marinette giggled and answered back "Merry Christmas"
"We have some gifts for you!" Tikki exclaimed.
"Oh, guys, it wasn't necessary, you know? Thank you" she said, welcoming the presents.
"What's all this?" She blinked.
"Wear it!" they enthusiastically exclaimed.
Marinette put on a silver tiara with blue and pink diamonds, and the kwami magic blanket over her shoulders, like a cape. She then put some glitter on her dress and shoes. She looked like a princess.
"Wow! This is so pretty! I feel like Cinderella" she giggled. "Thank you very much"
“You’re welcome!” They said, Tikki signaling them. “We have something else for you”
“You do?” Marinette blinked again.
“You need to sleep first. Sorry Marinette” Tikki said, while Duusu cast some sleeping magic on her, putting her under sleep. “Time for the plan, everyone!” Tikki smiled, using Marinette’s phone to give a call to an old friend.
_____________________________________
Marinette could listen to some music. New music to her ears. It sounded like chants, coming from somewhere far. Far away. She opened her eyes to see she was on a deserted island with only a banana tree and some bushes on it. “Xuppu!” she heard a low voice complaining.
“Tikki?” she called. “Where am I? Is this a dream?”
Marinette felt like crying at noticing her surroundings: alone on a deserted island, in the dark night, just as if she was inside her own lonely heart. She curled to hug her knees as soft whimpers left her throat. ‘This is the worst Christmas ever
’ she whispered between hiccups.
All of a sudden, she heard some water splashing and saw something coming from the sea. She wasn’t sure what, but it was getting close. She was afraid it was a shark, but instead, she soon realized it was a tiny boat. “Help!” she screamed and waved, and it wasn’t until the boat was almost at the coast that she realized who was on it.
“Luka?” she gasped. ‘Could this be true? This had to be a dream- no doubt’, she thought.
His surprised expression could match her own. Both of them were hesitant to take a step closer. ‘It had been five years. Why would they meet now?’ Marinette felt her stomach twirl at how sour destiny could be. Luka stayed silent, trying to understand what was going on. ‘Where was he? Why was Marinette there? What happened to Christmas?’ But everything lost its importance when he noticed the tears in her eyes.
“Marinette” he called, and her body reacted in a jolt. “What happened? Why are you crying?”
Marinette finally lifted her face to meet his blue eyes. Her glowing dress was, along with the moon, the only source of light. “Luka
 Is- Is that really you
?” she asked.
“Yes, it’s me. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? What happened? Where are we? Don’t cry, please” he begged, taking a few steps closer.
“I- I don’t know
I woke up here all alone and it was all dark and lonely and Tikki and the kwamis disappeared and- This must be a dream, right? There’s no way this is real”
“Probably, yes. When I woke up I was on the boat, lost in the middle of the sea. Then I saw something glowing and I moved towards that direction, looking for the land. I didn’t expect you to be the one glowing...” he explained. “You look beautiful. Thank you for guiding me here, Marinette. I’m happy to see you”
“Luka!” she jumped to hug him. “I- I was so scared! I- I-”
“It’s ok, Marinette. I’m here now.  We can use the boat to-” Marinette’s grip tightened around him, and he immediately got worried. “Marinette
”
Luka hesitated. As much as he wanted to hold her, he wasn’t sure if he was allowed to. She had made her choice back at the time, and it hadn’t been him. ‘What claim could he have now, after years of an unreciprocated love he couldn’t move on from? Wasn’t it a dream, though? It had to be. Hasn’t he dreamed of her multiple times before? It didn’t need to be different now’, he convinced himself.
And he hugged her back, overthrowing all the piled up love he had for her. Marinette’s gasp was cut by her need for ask, enjoying the fantasy hug for as long as she could.
“Marinette
” he whispered again, close to her ear. In response, she pressed her body to his even closer, in need of contact. Their heartbeats were fast, in unison, and they stayed together until the chants from before alerted them.
“What’s this music?” Luka asked, giving her some space.
“I- I don’t know
” she answered, still clinging to his body.
“Should we go search for land? The boat must be- Oh, no. The boat is gone. Sorry Marinette” Luka apologized. “I should have brought it closer to the sand”
“It’s not your fault Luka. This
This sea is probably my heart. Meeting you here has just reminded me how much I regret the past, so the sea level increased. It’s not your fault. It’s mine”
“Is this
your heart? I thought it was mine
Your heart should be a happy sunny place. You deserve to be happy, not like me. What happened? What's here that darkens your heart so much?”
Marinette could only cry. ‘You’, she wanted to say. Would he believe her, though? If this was her dream, he would probably return her feelings, and when she wakes up, she would be sad and disappointed. She wasn’t sure if she should be enjoying this tiny happiness in the form of an illusion. Before she could say anything, a shooting star fell in front of their eyes. The stardust cleared up to transform into a magical flying carriage, similar to Cinderella’s.
“Now there’s no doubt this is a dream” Luka stated. “Why don’t we try to enjoy our time while we’re here, Cinderella? Just like old times
” He smiled at her but, instead of waiting for an answer, he lifted her light body and seated her in the carriage, getting on after her. “Let’s go”
A rainbow suddenly appeared as a road to guide them. Marinette was still unsure of how to cope with the fueling emotions going through her heart, while Luka kept looking at her from under his lashes in his usual loving eyes- the expression he only showed for Marinette.
“Luka” Marinette called. “Isn’t that the Liberty?” she pointed.
“What?” He reacted in surprise. “No way
It sank just before I moved, remember? The day you- rejected me.” His words felt like a stab in her heart. She had rejected him before, and that was her deepest regret in her life. “Let’s go see it. It’s a dream, after all”
The carriage stopped at the Liberty’s deck and Luka helped Marinette to step down from the flying vehicle. “Wow, so nostalgic
It’s exactly as I remember it. As expected of dreams. Are you cold?” He noticed her trembling and grabbed a blanket to cover her. “Here. Look. There’s some cookies and hot chocolate, too. Let me prepare you some. Wait here”
“NO!” Marinette shouted. “I- I’ll help!”
“Of course” Luka smiled. “Do you think we’ll remember this when we wake up?”
“I don’t know
” Marinette answered.
“I wish I could meet you like this when we’re back in the real world. I’ve missed you, Marinette. A lot more than you could imagine” Luka said, reaching for his favorite mug.
“STOP!” Marinette shouted loudly. Then, her eyes became sad and focused on the man in front of her. “How do you expect me to go back to the real world after this sweet dream? This is where I rejected you! This is where the moment I regret the most in my life occurred!”
Luka waited a few seconds in silence before he spoke again, making Marinette tensed up as she waited. “Why don’t you use this dream to fix your regret, then? Isn’t this what dreams are for? Tell me, Marinette. What do you regret?”
“I regret-” she started, but he cut her.
“I regret letting you go” he started, reaching for her hand. “I regret not trying harder to make your feelings turn to my direction. I regret leaving your side. I regret not having contacted you in all these years. I have so much regret I could never move on” He said, staring at her incredulous eyes. “I’ve never forgotten you, Marinette. You’ve always been the song in my head- even now”
Marinette felt like crying. Of course he would say kind words for her in a dream. Of course he would love her back in her sleeping palace. But she was happy. Why wouldn’t she? Seeing his relieved face gave the courage to speak up.
“I regret making the wrong choice. I regret rejecting you when you were obviously the right answer, the one for me.  I regret having noticed too late. I regret never telling you my feelings. I regret not being brave enough to contact you all this time. I regret not having kissed you
But- If this is a dream and I can fix that
I want to do it right this time
” Marinette moved closer to him and cupped his cheek. “I love you, Luka. My life can’t ever feel complete without you”
And before he could answer, she leaned for a kiss on his lips. A kiss he welcomed. The kiss he had been starving for for years. The kiss he always wished for but could never force on her. The only kiss that mattered to them.
And then, the clock marked midnight.
“I guess it’s time to wake up
” Marinette whispered, not wanting her sweet dreams to end. “I wish this magical dream would never end...”
“I love you, Marinette. More than anything.” Luka said, kissing her again. “Will you give me your shoe, Cinderella? Or maybe your heart?”
“I’ll give you my shoe. I can’t give you something that’s yours already” She kissed him again before holding her arms tight around his neck. “I don’t want to wake up”
“Me neither
” Luka mumbled, keeping her close. “Can I call you sometime? Even if you don’t remember this dream
Is it ok for me to miss you? To love you?”
“I’ll be more than happy to receive a call from you. I’ve been hoping for one for so long now
” Before Marinette could lean in for another kiss, the bells rang again. “I guess it’s time to go. Here. I’ll give you this. It's a magic comb I received from the kwamis. It has some kwami glitter on it, just like the one on my dress and shoes. A lucky charm for our next meeting
”
Marinette took one step behind, and then another. Their hands irremediably split, but not before Luka kissed one of them hissing a low ‘I love you’ to her. As she took another step behind, she could feel her heart warm up
and before she could notice, she opened her eyes: back in the real world.
She woke up with tears in her eyes, but a relief and warm feeling she hadn’t felt in a long time. “Luka
” she whispered.
“Marinette!” Tikki called. “How was your dream?”
“Tikki! Was this your doing? What have you done, you little trickster!” Marinette said, happily tickling the red kwami. “Thank you Tikki, I had the sweetest dream”
“That’s not all, Marinette!” Tikki exclaimed, and the rest of the kwamis approached with her phone. The screen showed an unknown room, but a familiar guitar on the table. ‘Could it be
?’ her heart rate increased in expectation.
“Sass? Could you explain to me what just happe-” he said, and noticed the phone screen. Luka blinked in confusion, looking at his hand and back to the screen. Then, he lifted his hand to show Marinette its contents: the magic comb. Marinette gasped and that was everything Luka needed as an answer: they had shared their dream.
“So
 emm
. Hi! Long time- No, that’s not right. Tikki! What’s the meaning of this!? I need answers!” She screamed in embarrassment, making Luka laugh.
“It’s Christmas magic, Marinette! Our magic is stronger during Christmas. We wanted to give you a present that would warm up your heart! Did it work?”
“It did” Marinette said, aware that Luka couldn’t see or hear her kwami’s explanations. “Merry Christmas, Luka”
Marinette’s heart grew warmer with Luka’s smile. “Merry Christmas, Marientte”
After a long video call where they confirmed that what happened was actually real, they confirmed their feelings for each other and set up a date to meet again. When the call ended, Marinette spoke to the kwamis. “Thank you. Thanks to all of you, this is the best Christmas ever. I love you”
The kwamis reunited by her side for a collective hug. “Anything to make you happy” Tikki answered.

Wish It Didn't End Like This.
(Part 1/2)
Daminette angst story. I did not proof read and edit deeply so there might be mistakes. My first shot at an angst story. Comments are highly appreciated. Hope you enjoy (///=time skip)
(Mari's POV)
Damian Wayne...
It has so many definitions...
Stubborn

Talented

Smart

A hero

Brave

A brat at first

But underneath all the barriers he has an amazing heart, that very few get to see

And I mean VERY few.
Only the super closest people to him had the luxury to see.
I am very glad to have met this amazing person.
If only we had spent more time together

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
The first time I had ever met him, it was as if I was some kind of supervillain. He had this glare that seemed to scare everyone else.
But I wasn’t like everybody else.
(HA try fighting a supervillain since you were 13 and finally beating him at 17, and finding out why the person you trusted the most in your life betrayed you.)
So of course the glare was a simple child’s play.
We didn’t have a simple conversation till a few weeks later.
I went to the park near my apartment and sat at a bench where I sketched design ideas based on the scenery. I brought plagg with me, but he wasn’t a kwami, he was a real black cat. Kwamies could transform into the animal they represent. As I designed, Plagg was curled up near me softly purring.
As I was about to finish the last sketch, Plagg woke up and left. I didn’t mind it, since Plagg tended to do that. But then a dog’s bark followed by a frantic call were heard across the park.
”TITUS!!”
I looked up to see plagg being chased by a Great Dane, followed by Damian.
I ended up leaving everything besides my purse(it has Tikki inside duh) on the bench and joined in the chase.

Once we finally caught them, I picked Plagg off the ground and hugged him, he started purring and acted as if nothing happened.
Sneaky little chaotic cat
I quickly apologized profoundly for the accident, I could tell I was blushing madly
I didn’t like him (Yet), I was just embarrassed

He did something that surprised me, something that didn’t seem like his persona.
He chuckled, sure it wasn’t like he smiled or anything like that

But, it made me feel warm inside.
Realizing his mistake he quickly covered it up with,
”Tt, next time be careful, imbecile!”
If I hadn’t been the Famous Superhero, Ladybug/Guardian of the Miraculous, I would have been rather insulted and hurt.
But over the years I have learned to judge people by their eyes.
You see, the eyes aren’t just a useful body part to see,
They are the door to the soul, sure words might be harsh and hurtful, but they might say what they don’t mean.
And clearly, he didn’t mean to call me an imbecile, he hid it so well that I probably couldn’t have noticed it, but of course, I did.
(Damian Wayne, I will break those barriers and I will see who you truly are, and not pretend to be.)
This mission was similar to another one I had, but it was harder.
I loved a good challenge.
Wherever Marinette goes, Ladybug follows.
The bats were relatively surprised that I appeared in their territory, after some explaining and convincing I was finally allowed to work with them.
Before I left, Robin was scowling at me before leaving with the rest, which somehow was familiar

Wait, Familiar

Suddenly a flash appeared in my mind of a black-haired boy, with dark emerald eyes, glaring at me the same way.
How did I manage to get this Lucky, oh yeah

I mentally face palmed this wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
Conjuring up a portal to my apartment, and de-transformed I just sighed

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A couple of months later, we grew a little closer, a little.
But hey, at least it is progress am I right.
I didn’t get him to chuckle or anything but I could see a small smile on his face when he thought no one was looking. He was wrong, very wrong.
Knowing he was Robin didn’t make it any easier, especially when he treats both Marinette and Ladybug in different ways. He still doesn’t agree with Ladybug, but he was still wary of me.
I mean who wouldn’t be wary of someone when you are rich, famous, and vigilant. Anyone could use you because of your status.
Bye, now Damian must know that I don’t care about his last name, nor status.
He is just Damian to me, not a Wayne, nor Robin, and not “the Ice prince”
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Ever since I met him he made my life better, sure it took a year for him to warm up to me.
And eventually, I became his best friend besides Jon. When no one was around he let his guard down, every barrier ever built crashed when he was alone with me.
I was so proud of myself, I had won the bet that I made with myself a year ago.
I guess the only reason why Damian is the way he is with others, and the same when I had met him was because he was neglected of the love he needed...
And Damian told me one time when we were alone that ever since he came to live with his father and even now that his father showed his other sons more love than he showed him. It broke my heart even more, but then I developed another mission.
It was to show that I care very much for my best friend and show him that is very much loved.
Everyone in school believed we were dating because of our interactions, of course, we were only best friends. But I had hopes that we would be more than best friends.
I never really planned on telling him how I feel, because I felt that it was more important to just be there for him as his best friend instead of getting a 50% chance rejected and destroying a perfectly good friendship and a 50% chance of getting accepted.
I didn’t want to risk it at all, so I never told him.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Just like how Damian opened up to me about his life (besides his vigilant life and assassin life), I did the same( besides the part about being Ladybug and Guardian) I told him about my life in Paris, the betrayals, the losses, how my life changed when a certain sausage haired liar came to school with her “shiny” life.
Being the best friend he was, he threatened to kill them. I had to chase Damian across my apartment to take the kitchen knife from his hand.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
1 month later

He tried to keep me hidden from his family, no surprise there. No matter how much he wanted to keep me hidden it would still have happened.
When someone from Gotham Academy took a picture of me and Damian ya know doing secret best friend stuff when we thought no one was looking and posted it on Instagram, word spread out.
Later that day, not having any clue, I was “kidnapped” by 3 strangers. I was just having a simple conversation when someone tossed me over their shoulder and ran away.
I quickly kicked him in the ribs and flipped him.
I looked up to see Damian glaring, and yelling profanities at them. I turned around and saw 3 older men. I recognized who it was immediately, these were the people that complained about.
His brothers, Richard Grayson, Jason Todd, and Timothy Drake.
And I had flipped the oldest. Serves him right for trying to kidnap me.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Everything was great

Until it wasn’t

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I invited Damian over to hang out. We were in my room, I was sketching something while he was reading a book.
He suddenly placed his book on the table and left the room to get some food for us. He came back, only without food.
“Why do you have this!!!”
I stopped sketching and looked at what he was talking about. That was when I saw the file that contained the contact information to the leader of the league of assassins, on a paper that is written in Arabic. And information on Damian.
I froze, he wasn’t supposed to see that.
“Marinette answer me, WHY DO YOU HAVE THIS!?!?!?!”
“Damian it isn’t what it lo-” he cut me off before I could finish.
“You work for my mother, don’t you?!?! He looked at me, his eyes were tearing up. I tried to explain the misunderstanding but couldn’t. He beat me to it.
“So everything that happened between us isn’t real, they were all lies.?!?!
“Your one of mother’s spies aren’t you, she ordered you to get close to me to kill me?!?!?!
“Damian I-”
“JUST SHUT UP, I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT. I- I HATE YOU!!!” He ran away, ran away from my life. Leaving me in tears.
Alone.
Just like many of the other times in my life. Only this was the worst experience out of all of them.
I tried, I tried to live my life. Away from Paris, Away from my duties as Supreme Guardian in the Tibetan temple. Guess the universe doesn’t want that for me. I looked through the contacts on my phone. And called the person would’ve called sooner or later.
“ŰȘŰ§Ù„ÙŠŰ§ Ű§Ù„Űșول ی ŰŁÙ‚ŰšÙ„ Ű§Ù‚ŰȘŰ±Ű§ŰÙƒ. ŰłŰŁÙ‚Ű§ŰšÙ„Ùƒ Űșۯۧ في Ù‚Ű§ŰčŰŻŰ© Ű§Ù„ŰŻÙˆŰ±ÙŠ.” (Talia Al Ghul, I accept your proposal. I'll meet you tomorrow at the league base.)

I packed my bookbag with clothes, shoes, food, and the miracle box. I grabbed the photo that was on the shelf. It was one photo of me and Damian when we were hanging out at the fair. Tears were filling my eyes and I looked up to see Tikki and Plagg looking at me sadly.
I put the picture back where it was and walked to the door. I had so many memories here and I had to ruin it again.
As of tonight, Marinette is no more. I told myself
For in her place the titles, Ladybug and Guardian stick with her permanently.
No one would miss Marinette anyways.
I put the hood over my head, and left Gotham

Forever.

-------------------------------
“I can assure you me and your father can take care of ourselves.”
“Against normal villains yeah, but what if someone scarier comes. Or a particularly vicious Akuma?”
“What do you want to say sweety?”
“Maman
I want you to join the miraculous team.” Marinette stated and pulled a small box from her bag.
--------------------------
“Oh sweety.” Sabine took the box and opened it. Inside laid a panjas bracelet with tiger mark in the middle. “You didn’t have to. Your old lady can kick ass without such things.” She smiled and put on the bracelet. A dark pink spirit reassembling a tiger appeared.
“Oh! Hi there. Hi hi. I see I have a new wielder.” Roaar turned to Marinette. “Thank you guardian for choosing me for this. I am sure we will achieve great things together.”
“No problem Roaar. I hope you two will get by great together.” The girl smiled at enthusiastic Kwami.
“Uh
Hi little spirit. My name is Sabine.” Mother spoke, getting Roaar’s attention.
“Ah. Pleasure to meet you. Hi Hi. I am Roaar, the kwami of power. I can grant you the strength, speed, agility or endurance in battle.”
“Roaar is also very friendly. You told me that you wish to have someone to read books with like the old times but I am always busy. She said she loves adventures. I am sure you will have a perfect time together maman!” Marinette was beaming. She could already see that her mom and the kwami would match each other perfectly.
“That is indeed very considerate Marinette. Thank you for this gift. I can assure you we will do our best to help you sweety. And kick Chat Noir in the ass the moment I see him.” Sabine smiled overly sweet at the thought.
-----------------------
The next two months passed without much progress. Police disregarded the evidence whatsoever and all attempts to infiltrate Agreste manor ended with failure. The new heroine Pink Tigress joined the permanent rooster of heroes in Paris. Ladybug offered her father a miraculous too, but he decided that he will leave this stuff to the awesome girls in the house.
Marinette spent most of her days either with Damian or Chloe. The girl didn’t pester Marinette for a miraculous like she expected and even covered for the young heroine when she needed it. She declared that she will earn her right be hero properly this time. But she was still her sassy self.
Alix indeed shifted sides, but so far she was unable to convince anyone else about Lila’s lies. Any attempt would end up with some Akuma and later the person would not remember what caused it or would eat up Lila’s lies. In the end it seemed that the liar was rooted too deeply to remove her. It didn’t really disheart neither Damian nor Chloe from trying. The two made it their personal mission to at least make Lila fear for her little empire at each step, albeit with little success besides few Akuma attacks. Marinette had no way of persuading them to stop.
On the bright side of things, Sabine got in contact with Cass. At first the girl was reluctant to trust her newly discovered aunt, but as the relationship progressed the two woman got on the good side. Roaar also helped. Even if the sprite was not visible on camera, she still spoke on the phone and somehow the curious cat made Cass open up just enough for Sabine to make a connection.
---------------------------------------
With the trip rapidly approaching, Ladybug called the war council. All of the active heroes (and Chloe) gathered in Hotel Grand Paris since it was easier and less risky. They all came in civilian clothes under different excuses. Only Pink Tigress actually used her hero persona to enter. And Chat Noir was not invited.  Nobody wanted him and Tim decided that he had some revelation about the cat.
“Okay. We can begin.” Tim said as he activated the scrambler. No transmission could now enter or leave the room without his permission.
“Yes. As you all know soon Damian and I will have to leave for Gotham to finalize some of the
matters.” Marinette started, but her husband interrupted her
“tt. We are formalizing the marriage.” Damian bluntly explained.
The girl blushed, but continued anyway. “Yes. And it will be hard to keep fighting Akumas on the distance and with the time difference.”
“Maybe give someone else the earrings for the time.” Stephanie disregarded the matter. “I mean look at how many heroes there are here. I am sure we can deal with this.”
“Actually, the only two staying will be Ryuko and Viperion.” Sabine quickly dozed off the girl’s hopes.
“What?” Stephanie was surprised by this.
“Miss Bourgeois...” Damian stopped himself from saying ‘Yellow Menace’. Just because the two worked against common enemy (Lila) didn’t mean they had to like each other. They both rivalized for Marinette’s attention. So far Damian still got most of it, but the girl made sure that Chloe didn’t feel neglected. She always made sure to invite the mayor’s daughter to all group activities and things that weren’t dates. Or at least what she didn’t think would be dates. That was one weird evening.
“Chloe is going with the class. And I am very sorry Chloe but I am still hesitant to trust you with Miraculous.” Marinette stopped Damian from saying something that would turn the war council into just war.
“No worries Mari-bug. I know I acted utterly ridiculous! and I still must work for the trust. And I have some business in Gotham that I couldn’t really miss.” Chloe grinned maliciously.
“Do we want to know what is that you seek in the city of crime, miss Bo
Chloe?” Kagami asked. She was still not used to referring to others by their first names.
“Nope!” The girl stated smugly, popping the ‘P’.
“Maybe it would be best to look back at Paris right now.” Luka decided to remind them why they were here between humming some songs.
“Yes! But before the Hawkmoth matter, “ Marinette looked at the older Wayne in the room. “Tim, you said you had something about Chat Noir.”
“Right. Just let me get some coffee first” He stood up but Steph and Damian pulled him down.
“No coffee for you before this is over Drake. Some of us had evening plans.” The glare Damian sent him could only be rivaled by his fathers one, but Tim just shrugged. The boy was either bravest person on earth or just much too tired to care about his health. Given the amount of coffee he drank, it was almost certainly the second one.
“Fine Demon Spawn. Way to ruin the mood.” Red Robin instead displayed the video of fight with Chat d’Amour from various cctv cameras. “One thing bugged me about this one. He was akumatized to go after Mari, but it doesn’t make much sense. What would get him upset?”
“I
 Actually I have no idea
” Marinette admitted.
“Oh! I can have few ideas.” Chloe chimed in. “But none are good. The best one is that this leather-clad jerk was just self-pitying himself so much that he attracted Akuma. But the other one is much worse: he actually followed you around and got angry with the fact you were dating Damian. It means he is even more creepy.” At this idea Marinette couldn’t help but notice that Kagami and Damian instinctively grabbed their swords. The fencer now carried a katana around. Her mother was pleased when the girl extended her repertoire and Damian had a sparring partner. Plus both looked less awkward if both brought swords to school. What Mari failed to notice is her mother slipping one hand into the sporting bag she had and pulling a rather large knife. It only got her attention when Sabine started sharpening it while looking about as casually as Chloe when she was applying make-up. She seemed natural.
“Uh
I apreciate the protectiveness, but I think you are scaring someone maman.”
“Don’t worry sweety. I just remembered that I forgot to do this back home.” Mother said casually, trying to calm her daughter. “I asked your aunt to get me one with Cat motif on it.”
“Maman!”
“ekh.” Damian faux-coughed, getting their attention.
“Right. So what is the real reason Tim?”
“Well, I did some thinking and I came to the conclusion that while both reasons are probable, neither match the timeline.”
“Get to the finish line hon.” Stephanie urged him.
“Chat Noir is Adrien Agreste.” Tim sighted.
“I take it back. Explain.” The dumbfounded expression on Spoiler’s face spoke volumes.
“So first I back-tracked the time of his akumatization. Based on the moment he crashed your party I put it against how long it would take him to get there from each point in town and how long it would take Akuma to get from the spawning zone to him in that location. All times were average and I factored in the uncertainty. But no matter how you look at it, to match with this exact timing he had to start from this circle.” To make it easier to understand, Tim displayed the map of Paris with maked Hotel, the spawning zone as they came to call area from where Akumas supposedly originated (now even smaller than before with Agreste Manor close to the center), and a ring around the hotel. “As you can see, the ring goes directly through College Francoise Dupont. It would make sense if he was actually in the building or at least close. We also already knew that Chat Noir was around the same age as Marinette. This leaves us with three options. He would either need to be home-schooled, attend the college or not go to school at all to be able to be there. That is unless he was skipping school, but it is improbable.”
“And why is that Sherlock?” Chloe interrupted.
“Because it would be too hard for him to skip school enough to stay Chat Noir. I checked his arrival time on other Akuma cases. There is no other school in close enough proximity for him to attend if he didn’t constantly skip classes just to patrol the city or more specifically shadow your class. Take that Queenie!” He raised his hand in the air before resuming his serious tone. “Anyway. Based on this and the fact he was always close to his class I came to conclusion that he was a student at the school. Then I just went through all the male students that weren’t akumatized and compared their confirmed locations with Chat Noir sightings. I admit the Gorrizilla case threw me off track for a moment, but then I noticed that Chat was not present for the most of the case until Adriens head was covered by a helmet. It just so happened that our model just so happened to meet his look alike on that day. Coincidence? I think not!” He screamed.
“That is indeed some revelation
” Kagami started, but Tim shushed her.
“That’s not the end. I believe that Chat Noir is now working with Hawkmoth!”

Unpopular opinion: Adrien had ever right to react like he did in Syren.
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
(Why hello yes did I order free tea in my inbox?)
I will detail this one even if I think other people have done it brilliantly at some point already. (Update: I realise it’s super long because I don’t know how to do short apparently but anyway).
And I’ll remind first thing first that both Ladybug & Chat Noir received their Miraculous at the exact same time. Both have been untrusted with something big and asked to risk their lives to save the day - with a partner aka an equal. Meaning that at the beginning, there shouldn’t be anything indicating one has more information about their power than the other.
Chat Noir has never shown jealousy at Ladybug’s role as the “leader” of the team; yes he has already questioned her choices and plans (Antibug, Gigatitan to name only those) but he has been overall pretty okay with her taking the lead.
And it was all fine until Collector aka the episode where Marinette meets Master Fu.
I don’t want to start again the whole “it’s Fu’s fault / it’s not his fault bla-bla-bla” debate on the matter because it would be way too long so I’ll just put myself into Adrien’s shoes and ask you to do the same here; taking the whole of season 1 into account where both heroes knew globally the same things, let’s see season 2:
1/ Collector: his partner comes to him to tell him his father is Hawkmoth with no proof. Cool, great
 He trusts her, alright, but
It already feels that there’s a wall between them (😏); something hasn’t been shared nor discussed and it’s about the guy they’re both supposed to fight and risk their lives against. He actually let it slides but still, it’s important to take that into account. Especially since it concerns
 His own father.
2/ Sapotis: Ladybug comes with a new superhero out of nowhere. Cool, new friend! He reacts pretty well towards Rena Rouge and doesn’t questions her presence; after all they’re in the middle of a fight and the help is most welcomed. Still, no idea where she comes from and his partner actually doesn’t let him know afterwards. But ok maybe there was no time and she’ll tell him about it later.
3/ Syren: here we go. End of a mission, pound-it denied because the new hero has to leave
And Ladybug can know who she is and still hasn’t given him more info he might have expected. And apparently not him? When has this been decided? When has he been consulted for that? Is he not trustworthy enough? Those are all kind of questions he can and is completely in right to ask himself.
Because another reminder: who in Adrien’s daily life never tells him a thing regarding, oh I don’t know, his own mother amongst many other examples? Yeah right. So he’s constantly used to it.
Now about the “controversial” reactions Adrien has in Syren:
1 - First “controversial” reaction: snapping at LB for being in the dark
Tumblr media
When I watched the episode and finally saw the boy snapping, I was really like “THANK PLAGG it’s happening!” because it was about time.
So him snapping at Ladybug, not knowing the very existence of Master Fu, is to me not only logical and well-due but also healthy (yes I can say it). He is not passive in his role as Ladybug’s partner and as a superhero – he asks for his right to exist in the team, to really be part of this team, he imposes himself for once. Last time Adrien questioned authority was in Origins to go to school.
So whether Ladybug deserved to be at the end of his snapping or not isn’t the point: he had every rights to express himself, even if it was angrily. Because in his shoes I would have been angry too and I don’t think I’m the only one. It’s unrealistic to think he would have just continued to follow her blindly especially since the unbalance in knowledge & access to the information is getting more and more prominent at this moment in the season.
2 - Second “controversial” reaction: the Plagg bribing
Tumblr media
Basically Adrien rightfully asked information to his Kwami that Plagg indeed had but couldn’t tell him. Again, the question isn’t whether Plagg can tell him or not: it’s that Adrien has the right to express his annoyance at not being included in what he should be included into.
The whole bribery with the cheese was to me quite obviously some bantering between the two; just like you’d do to a sibling or a friend who very obviously hides you something and be like “buuuuut tell meee I promise I’ll make you a cake in exchange!” or something. That’s all. That’s the vibes I got from the bribery. It’s not as serious as some people like to make it sound. (also it’s only cheese he’s bargaining for
 Anyway.)
3 - Last “controversial” reaction: threatening to give up his ring
Tumblr media
So after being told again and again that he can’t know for some [insert lame excuse] reason, despite having snapped and let known his feelings, he is once again abandoned by Ladybug for some secret thing he is deemed too untrustworthy to know (again, I am putting us in HIS shoes here: I am not accusing Ladybug or Master Fu of anything, just letting you guys know what he must have felt at that moment so I’m placing myself from his point of view).
Paris is flooded. He can’t do anything. Add to that low teenager self-esteem and feelings, mix it up, boom! A defeatist Chat Noir.
Was he right to threaten to give up his ring? No, not completely. But it’s him having reached his limits because he feels powerless and nobody seems to want to give him enough information so he can actively participate and help in finding a solution. He has nothing to work with there.
I don’t think he would have really given up his ring; or if he had, he would have regretted it right after (we’ve all been in this situation when we’re angry; we take rash decisions that we KNOW will hurt us but we still do it only to regret it once we’ve calmed down.)
Saying that he was ready to let the Parisians die by giving up the ring is
Not true at all. First because if the people are in danger it’s because of Hawkmoth not Chat Noir (gotta do a repeat of LB’s speech in Origins there but: well tried, but let’s not reverse the role here), and 2nd because at this very moment there was literally nothing he could have done. Was it a bit far fetched and a kind of whiny teenager reaction? Sure, a bit, I’m not saying it wasn’t. But considering ALL that happened in the episode and Adrien’s character backstory
Yeah I can get where he came from.
_____________
Anyway I’m going to stop here haha but Adrien showed us this episode how human his reactions were, and I’m not saying it in a “he showed flaws so he’s human” way but in a “we can ALL relate more or less to his feelings of demanding the RIGHT to know things he should as the supposed EQUALED partner of Ladybug” way.
Thanks for the ask & sorry for the long ramble aha ♄

So time I live up to my name and create some salt!
I had a Miraculous AU idea, heavy in Adrien salt.
WARNING! EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION AND ABUSE. No physical abuse, but still, you have been warned.
In so many salt stories, Lila getting the class to bully Marinette makes Marinette stronger, she begins to stand up for herself. She learns to say no when Adrien becomes obsessed with her.
Not in this.
When Lila gets the class to turn against Marinette, she shuts down. She becomes more quiet, resigned. She doesn’t reach out to anyone, and she has no support system. Tikki trys to help, but can’t do much. She becomes Guardian, and there are more weights on her than ever. Eventually she and Chat Noir defeat Hawkmoth. Adrien is shocked, and Marinette comforts him. They reveal themselves to each other, and start dating. Marionettes crush has subsided, but Adrien is adamant, and she can always fall back in love, right?
Wrong.
She never really likes him in the same way, but he guilt's her so much that she feels like she can’t leave, that it would be selfish. All the kwami see what’s happening, but they can’t convince her. Eventually they move to Gotham. It could be that Marinette needs to create balance there, or that Adrien wants to be a hero again. Either way, they move to Gotham and become vigilantes. Marinette and the kwami don’t really want to infringe on Batman’s turf, but Adrien wants to, and there can’t be a black cat without a ladybug, so she has to come along too.
Eventually, they come across the Gotham Sirens. Marinette, who knows they’re (mostly) reformed, waves, and goes over to say hi. She goes to swing her yo-yo over, but Adrien grabs her arm to stop her. The Sirens have heard about two new vigilantes that the bats have had trouble with, and were having a girls night/ scouting mission. So, they saw someone in read wave, get ready to come over, and was that a yo-yo?, and someone in black stop them.
Adrien: “What are you doing? They’re villains!”
Marinette: “They’re antiheroes now, they help the bats for the most part.”
Adrien: ”So if my father decided to just help us one day, we just forgive him? You know how I feel about that Bugaboo, are you trying to make me mad?”
Marinette will instantly start on the apologies, and by the time the Sirens are over, they’ve left. Harley didn’t hear what they were saying, but she sure knows what she saw. She saw someone doing absolutely nothing wrong, and then try to placate someone else, taking the blame for nothing at all. She sees the signs of an abusive relationship. And she sees red.
When Adrien and Marinette get home, he takes her earrings. This is something common, when she does something ‘wrong’ he will take Tikki. Time and time again she has been told that she didn’t deserve having Tikki to talk to when she ‘misbehaved.’ And she believes him every time. She truly believes that she deserves being alone for doing something (or most of the time nothing) wrong. She decides to go out to get ingredients to make an apology dinner for Adrien, and either runs into one of the Wanyes, or into Harley, who’s been looking for the two she saw earlier. You can decide who she runs into.
If it’s Harley, she will try to avoid her, remembering that she got in trouble for trying to talk to her earlier. Harley will take an interest though, and while Marinette is trying to get away, and will accidentally let slip that she’ll get punished for talking to her. Harley is concerned, but will ‘leave her alone,’ as not to get her in trouble. In reality, she is totally following her, and telling everyone (Sirens, Batfam) about a potential abuse victim.
If it’s a Batfam member that she runs into, (Not just the boys because I need more interactions w/ Steph Cass & Barbra) she could start up a conversation while shopping, (crushes are up to you, one sided or otherwise) and she accidentally lets slip that this was an apology dinner. When asked what for, she vaguely answers about talking to the wrong people. They get concerned and alert the rest of the gang, including the Sirens because they help victims of abuse.
Either way, everyone decides to look out for her, someone befriending her, (probably one of the girls because Adrien has convinced her that spending more time w/ boys is cheating on him) and they will subtly interrogate her. They figure out that he ‘depends’ on her to help him, and that something went on in Paris that made them closer.
This leads to the Justice League finding out about the Paris Situation, and Wonderwoman and Aquaman getting very upset at Green Lantern or whoever ignored them. (I stan Aquaman knowing about the Miraculous due to Plagg sinking Atlantis.)
After Marinette gets off the bench, she is extra careful to not set Adrien off, as she is best at getting the Bats off their backs about vigilantism. The Bats offer to train them, knowing they might not be able to stop them, and Marinette is all for it. There’s just one problem.
Adrien doesn’t want to do it.
Batman and bird of choice will notice Marinette’s immediate change from being enthusiastic about the training to being against the idea as soon as Adrien speaks against it. They leave not long after, and there is no doubt in anyone’s minds that they need to get her out.
While Marinette is on patrol one day, a large flower appears in her face, and sprays some kind of pollen. The earrings are providing her some resistance, but most of her energy is going to staying awake. While trying not to pass out, she accidentally stumbles off of the roof. She doesn’t notice, nor does she notice that a giant plant caught her. Finally, the pollen combined with a general lack of sleep get to her, and she passes out.
When Marinette comes to, she notices that her hands are tied. There are vines wrapping around her arms, with a red flower sprouting from the top. As she looks around, she realizes she’s... on a couch? In an apartment? With all the Sirens just hanging out?
Wait.
She scrambles to get up and get out, but she trips in her haste, drawing attention to her. Ivy uses her plants to gently guide Mari to the couch, being careful not to hurt her, but making sure she knows that she can’t leave.
Marinette is just confused.
She’s been kidnapped before, both in and out of costume. Most of the time, they want her miraculous, and the rest usually want dates. However this was new. Glancing at the clock, she realized how late it was. She really didn’t want to loose Tikki again, so she hoped Adrien would understand why she didn’t get back in time.
Harley: “Don’t worry, we’re rescuing you!”
Marinette looked at the vines, then back at Harley.
Harley: “Oh, right. Let me rephrase. We’re rescuing you even though you don’t know you need to be rescued!”
Now this makes Marinette confused. What did she need to be rescued from? Maybe the Bats were mad at them? She really needed to smooth things over for her and Adrien quickly if that were the case. Noticing her confusion, Poison Ivy took over.
Ivy: “Look, we just need to check a few things then you can go. We’re concerned that your boyfriend is abusing you, and we need to make sure you’re safe.”
Oh. Marinette can deal with this. Adrien had never hurt her outside of akuma attacks where he got mind controlled, and that wasn’t his fault. Just because he was in charge of the duo didn’t mean he was hurting her. She was just about to tell the Siren this, when she got sprayed by another flower. She got ready to fight off sleep again, but was surprised when she didn’t feel any more tired.
Ivy: “Don’t worry about that, it’s just something that will compel you to tell the truth. We won’t ask any secret identity questions, we’re just making sure you’re ok.”
They ask their normal set of questions, like, ‘has he ever hurt you’, and received odd answers like, ‘not outside the influence of the miraculous.’ When asked more about the miraculous, bubbles flew out of her mouth. as they were about to ask more, her earrings gave a loud beeping, and there was a large flash of light. When the Sirens opened their eyes, they saw a girl wearing civie clothes, with the same red and black domino mask, and a bug... thing? floating in front of her face. Marinette felt a mix of shock and relief. Shock that Tikki had released the transformation, and relief that Adrien had warned her to wear a mask underneath because she was bound to get the earrings stolen at some point. Looking at the shocked faces, she realized that she had said that out loud. She was left speechless when Tikki flew up to her face (Ivy noted how her plants seemed to grow much faster as she flew by) and ripped her mask right off. There were shocks of recognition from all of the Sirens, and as Marinette was about to ask Tikki what in kwami’s name was she thinking? Tikki cut her off.
Tikki: “*Bubbles* no. I am not about to sit by and watch you make excuses. I have been trying to warn you for so long, but you refused to listen. If it takes me revealing your identity for you to leave *Bubbles*, then so be it. Now, you are going to sit there, while I tell these three exactly what’s going on. I don’t care that you think it’s not abuse, because it is. So please, after this, take back the ring and leave. Kaalki can take you anywhere you need to go, even if not for yourself, do it for us.”
Marinette was left speechless, and Tikki turned around and started to explain the whole story. As she couldn’t say their real names, she would just use their hero names while clarifying on whether they were civilians. After the whole story, they were ready to go skin a cat. Selina would normally take offense to this, but at this point she was too angry to care. When Marinette finally broke down, everyone comforted her, and they created a plan. They would broadcast having her hostage, (after telling the bats so they wouldn’t come) and get Adrien to come rescue her. Or at least, Marinette hoped. She knew there was a slight chance that he wouldn’t come after her, or at lease leave her there for a bit as a lesson. She fought the part telling her that she would deserve that, and got ready. After feeding Tikki, she transformed and got into place. After broadcasting the video, they sat and waited. About an hour later, Adrien came crashing through the window, landing in front of her. He used Cataclysm on the chair, and that was when Marinette struck.
Marinette: “As Guardian of the Miracle Box, I, Marinette Dupain Cheng, hereby revoke Adrien Agreste’s right to wield a miraculous.”
In a flash of light, Adrien was de-transformed, ring having flown into Marinette’s finger, with Plagg looking relived. Adrien was fuming, ranting at her, until he decided to attack. The moment he lunged, he got a mallet upside the head, knocking him out.
The relief of it all being over got to Marinette, and she broke down on the floor.
Now the ending is open for interpretation! This was kind of a prompt, maybe more of an idea, but there are a few ways this could play out.
She could get adopted by the Sirens, and gain three new aunts. Maybe eventually she’ll feel up to joining them on their nights out.
She gets with Batfam member of choice. She is an adult here, so pair her w/ whoever while being mindful of that
Bruce adopts her. She fits the Wayne criteria, and his kids love her.
Come up w/ a completely original ending! Go wild!
That’s all for now, night all!

There's a lot of talking about Adrien's abused life as people pointed it over and over. But I've never really see an opinion about Adrien failures in Desperada (the 25k second chances also him hearing lb herserf told him that they don't need cn just to retract back on the other timeline) and Reflekdoll (failed to solve his lucky charm and "I'm can't be ladybug" thing) that not salty. Do you mind if I ask for your opinion for those? Thank you!
I had to rewatch the two episodes in question since it has been a while. I can tell you both cases aren’t the same because the stakes in for Adrien are in no way similar.
Basically, Adrien was way more impacted by his failure as Aspik than as Mister Bug. Because, as Aspik, he was on his own. Ladybug in Desperada had no way of remembering anything unlike Aspik. And because he was trying to reach his dream of having Ladybug fall for him along with his fearing Ladybug would not love him if he failed her, he pressured himself greatly to perform and excel. There wasn’t anything of the sort in Reflekdoll.
Mister Bug struggled, yes, but he wasn’t pressured because there was Lady Noire to back him up. When he was in a pickle, he had no shame admitting he needed help. He didn’t fail thanks to Lady Noire. He was able to capture both the Akuma and the Amok because he could rely on her. And he wasn’t disappointed to not have the responsabilities of the Ladybug Miraculous  anymore and much  more prefer focus on assisting Ladybug instead.
Keep reading if you want a more detailed analysis
In Desparada, Adrien was desperate to try impress Ladybug as Aspik instead of fighting the villain. He didn’t want to be Chat Noir, but wanted to be the one Ladybug needed.
Ladybug wanted to give Adrien -- him -- a Miraculous. From Adrien’s perspective, Ladybug barely knows his civilian self, but it meant she has noticed him and trust him enough to give him a Miraculous. Better, she thinks he is perfect for the job.
Tumblr media
Adrien : Plagg, Ladybug needs me! She needs Adrien! Plagg : If you ask me, this whole idea is worst than cheese in a can. Adrien : She thinks I’m the perfect guy for this mission. Plagg : You can’t be Chat Noir AND another superhero at the same time which means you are NOT the perfect guy for this mission. Adrien : The Lucky Charm told her I am.  Plagg : That’s not how it works. *sigh* Why am I bothering? You’re not even listening. Adrien : This is my chance to get her to love me as myself, Adrien. I don’t care what costume it comes with, but I have to try. Ladybug chose me.
Adrien saw this as the occasion to have Ladybug fall in love with him. He was ready to give his all and be anyone Ladybug wanted him to be . At all cost, so long he could have Ladybug fall in love with him.
I found it interesting Adrien mentions the costume, drawing attention he doesn’t know which Miraculous it is nor the power he will have and it isn’t important for him. He simply wanted to have another chance at having Ladybug love him romantically and ironically ended up with a power that allowed him to retry as many times as he wanted.
See, the personal stake is incredibly high for Adrien. Ladybug falling in love with him is his biggest dream. As Chat Noir, it is already established he is her partner and friend. Although he is fine with how things are, a part of him still longed for something more. For Adrien, being Aspik is a fresh start and he has to make a solid impression in order for it to work. Or so he believes.
At first, he tries to charm her. He gave her flowers, try to confess to her, revealing he is Chat Noir, etc. The fact that, in the first loop, LB initially said “We don’t need Chat Noir”, he was a bit hurt, yes, but on further attempts, he is the one who convinces her (and himself) they can make it as Aspik and Ladybug only. That they are the perfect couple team. But we see his convictions crumbling slowly away.
Aspik : No time to wait for Chat Noir. We’re fine without him. You’ll see, We’re going to make an awesome team.
(Later, in another loop)
Aspik : Trust me. We’ve been through this before. Ladybug : Shouldn’t we wait for Chat Noir? Aspik : No need. Let’s try a different exit this time. Ladybug : So, you saved my life several times already? I knew-- Aspik :We’d make an awesome team? I hope you’re right.
Each time though, LB gets captured. Each times, he fails to protect her. Each time, he loses her.
After trying everything he could think of -- after 25 913 attempts -- he finally gives up. He comes to the realization it will never work out. That he is not the perfect guy Ladybug wanted him to be. He is failing her, disappointing her. And that takes courage to accept that.
No one likes to disappoint. However, this can become a serious issue if one’s previous experiences of disappointing someone or at failing something had lead them to be punished. And in Adrien’s case, this is not uncommon. His father abuses of his parental authority. Adrien does a false note during an evaluative recital? Okay, you cannot go see your friends like I had promised you because this performance was unsatisfactory. You need to stay here and practice instead of having fun.
Combine that with Adrien’s fear to be unloved by those he cares about and there you have his persistence in Desperada. When Adrien holds himself and turns his back to Ladybug, it feel like he was scared of what her reaction would be. He was so surprised when -- despite failing her -- Ladybug thanks him anyway for his humongous efforts and gives him a cheek kiss.
I also would like to point out the development there. When Chat Noir has learned who Ladybug intended to give the Miraculous to, Chat Noir hides away Luka, so Ladybug wouldn’t consider to give him the Miraculous instead of Adrien. So when Luka shows up later, Adrien is fine with being replaced and suggests Luka to be the Snake Holder instead.
Anyway, that personal stake and conflict Adrien had during Desperada isn’t there during Reflekdoll.
For one, the situation of the Kwami Swap is improvised. They didn’t purposefully switch their Miraculous to prove something to the other. It simply happened like that and they roll with it. There were no personal motives and gain for any of them to switch their Miraculous. They needed to act and went with the option that appeared to them.
Secondly, Lady Noire asked Mister Bug which option he was prefering early on once they were re-united and they both had a grasp of what they were fighting. She offered him to switch back if he prefered. So, from the beginning, she takes no issue with the reversed role so long the job gets done and Paris is saved. And Mister Bug agreed to that. He saw her in action a hundred times. Surely he can manage, right?
Thirdly, the conflict in Reflekdoll was that Chat Noir didn’t understand why Ladybug was so serious when they are fighting Akumas. She made a valid reproach at Chat Noir at the very begining of the episode, that his little joke almost ruined her Lucky Charm back there. His response? Basically, that she has no sense of humor. With the switch, Chat Noir better understand that it is not that Ladybug doesn’t want to joke and have fun, she doesn’t have the luxury to joke around because she is always analyzing things in battle and have to stay focused.
Also, from the beginning, Lady Noire supervised Mister Bug. She explained the situation at hand, that they are fighting two opponents : an akumatized and a sentimonster. She stopped him from summoning his Lucky Charm or fixing the damages too early, again explaining herself each time. Lady Noire reminded Mister Bug what the Lucky Charm is about. It is not just an item to defeat the supervillain, you have to exactly figure out how to use it. She supported him, though not without mocking him back using some of his previous comments he made last time they saw each other against him. Nevertheless, Lady Noire protected Mister Bug because she is well aware the Ladybug Holder is the one who has to stay until the end. Plus, by being Lady Noire instead of Ladybug, her workload was lighten, so she had time to coach him, help him out and buying him time to solve his Lucky Charm.
Mister Bug never refused Lady Noire’s assistance and advices. In fact, Lady Noire’s help was more than welcomed throughout the battle. What actually annoyed Mister Bug was when Lady Noire made fun of him instead of giving him an hand. That’s why he had no issue asking her to help him out figure the Lucky Charm. He had try but couldn’t find the solution AND they were running out of time.
Again, in Reflekdoll, their goal is to defeat Reflekta and her sentimonster under an exceptional circumstance where their role got accidentally reversed. It was not about proving who had the most difficult job in the team, nor was it to show they other could do their job better. There was no ego at stake. Neither had anything to prove to the other. No one expected Mister Bug to be perfect or perform better than LB like it was the case with Aspik in Desperada.
Since there was no expectations, there couldn’t have been disappointed. LB and CN are used to work as a team and they still worked as a team despite the Kwami Swap. The only change is it allowed Ladybug to have some fun while Chat Noir understood why Ladybug is so serious during battle.
This experience made him realize the Ladybug Holder needs someone, not to distract them, but to assist them during battle so the Ladybug Holder can focused and accomplished their mission. And it was only by being in LB’s shoes CN could fully grasp this. Plus, it is not as if Chat Noir was desiring to be the head of their team or be the leader. Sure, he always dreamed of capturing the Akuma for fun, not because he wanted to be the star of the day. And again, Mister Bug had no issue in accepting Lady Noire to help him out. As Chat Noir, he had always been fine following LB’s lead and cues. That didn’t change in Reflekdoll. Because he is aware he couldn’t purify the Akuma or the Amok if they can’t even reach and break the object where they are hidden in.
The fact Adrien admits he is not cutout to be the Ladybug Holder isn’t a defeat. If anything, he taught him how to be a better partner to Ladybug from now on.

Blueberry Peach (Adrien AUGreste) Part 13: Found family
Or read it on AO3: Blueberry Peach
Also find the other parts of the series AO3: Fruitful verse
---------
“Kid. Kid, look at me.”
With effort, Adrien obeyed, turning his head to look into his kwami’s eyes. He hadn’t even known that Plagg was capable of that much sympathy, but it was all there painted across Plagg’s little face. It was enough to make Adrien’s stomach flip over, because if even Plagg was feeling that badly for him

“Ah, shit,” Plagg muttered as fresh tears welled up in Adrien’s eyes. “Tikki is so much better at this than I am. She has way more experience than me. I hate this part of it.”
“What do you mean?” Adrien asked thickly, lifting a hand to wipe his face.
“It’s not usually the cats who lose their bugs. It’s the other way around,” Plagg said. “We’re damned lucky that Marinette wasn’t wearing her miraculous, or we’d really be up the creek.”
“Yeah,” Adrien mumbled, though he didn’t feel very lucky. In fact, he was feeling worse than ever. The emptiness in the back of his head was maddening, like an icy chill settling into his very bones that he couldn’t figure out how to escape.
“Look, I know this is hard for you. I get it,” Plagg said earnestly. “But you have to focus. Lady Bee needs your help. She can’t do this alone. This akuma would be hard for you and Ladybug to take down, but it’s also Lady Bee’s mother that she’s fighting. She needs you.”
Adrien didn’t say anything for a moment. He knew that Plagg was right. It wasn’t fair to send ChloĂ© out there on her own. She had only ever participated in one akuma fight, and that was as Queen Bee, not Lady Bee. She was at a big disadvantage here.
As the only other miraculous holder around, he needed to step up.
He squeezed his eyes shut, letting out a shuddery sigh.
It hurt.
It hurt so much

But Chloé needed him.
She was more than just his friend; she was family. A found family, not blood, but family nevertheless. Like a sister. After Marinette and his father, Chloé was the most important person to him. She needed him. Adrien had to be there for her.
“Okay,” he croaked, looking at Plagg at last. “Okay. I – I think I can do this.”
Plagg beamed at him. “Yeah you can. Go get your lady back!”
“Right. Plagg, claws out!”
Green light swirled around him, and Chat’s breath caught on a ragged gasp. The feeling of empty loss was even stronger now that he was transformed, which in retrospect made sense. The miraculous had always amplified their bond, and had even caused their bond to deepen faster than usual. So he supposed he should’ve expected the loss to be way more intense too.
But he hadn’t.
He pressed a hand to his chest, feeling his racing heart. Sweat broke out across his forehead, but he found himself shivering.
Okay.
This was the worst pain he’d ever felt, but he could do this.
He had to do this.
He straightened up, reaching for his baton, and shakily made his way out from behind the trailer to assess the situation.
Neither Lady Bee nor the akuma noticed him right away. Lady Bee was running away from the akuma’s blasts, dodging each one with a nimble skill that made the akuma screech in fury. Keeping himself largely hidden, Chat slowly got closer. The statues, horrifying as they were, made it easy to hide.
He ducked behind a small one and squinted at the akuma.
It was fast, but then all akuma were fast. He wasn’t sure where the akumatized object was, but if they could get that staff away from her then the akuma really wouldn’t have a way to fight them. That would make it a lot easier to get at the object. He would just have to wait for the right moment to pounce. He glanced around, spotted a tree a short distance away, and stood.
Only then did he look at the statue, and promptly did a double take. Was that FĂ©lix? He stared in surprise at the statue’s smooth, gold face, which looked almost identical to Adrien’s.
“I’ll get you!” the akuma screamed.
Chat snapped out of it and quickly scuttled towards the tree, scaling it easily. The thick leaves hid him from view, so that when Lady Bee ran underneath the tree and the akuma followed –
He dropped.
For a split second, it worked.
He felt the akuma’s hard gold body beneath him and grabbed for the staff.
And then the akuma vanished.
Chat hit the pavement with a yelp.
“Chat!” Lady Bee ran back to him.
“She can teleport?!” he sputtered, sitting up.
“Apparently,” Lady Bee said, reaching out her hands. He took them and allowed her to pull him just as the akuma reformed with a cackle.
“Nice try, you stupid cat. You’ll have to do better than that to pull one over on Style Queen,” she sneered.
“What are we going to do?” Lady Bee hissed, looking at him expectantly.
“Uh,” Chat said, momentarily drawing a blank. This was normally the time when Ladybug used her Lucky Charm and came up with a fantastic idea to defeat the akuma, but she didn’t usually do that until they had figured out where the akumatized object was. He was about to ask if Lady Bee had any ideas when he glimpsed a glitter of gold out of the corner of his eye.
There was no time for a warning; he grabbed Lady Bee around the waist and used his baton to propel them both out of the way. The blast of magic hit the tree Chat had been hiding in and immediately turned it to solid gold.
Chat landed on the ground several feet away and set Lady Bee down too. He turned to her and said, “Any ideas on where the akuma is?”
“I think it’s the rose in her hat,” Lady Bee replied.
He glanced back at Style Queen as she approached, tracking the rose in her hat. “Okay, then we need to get it away from her. Try your Lucky Charm while I distract her.”
“Be careful,” Lady Bee said, looking at him worriedly.
“Don’t worry. I’m purr-fect,” Chat said, giving her a wink. He was pleased to see Lady Bee roll her eyes just like Ladybug would have.
He really did think that Marinette and Chloé could be good friends someday. They just had to get Marinette back first.
Determined, he extended his baton and ran at Style Queen. He dodged a blast of gold and then jumped at her; she swung her staff up to meet him, and his baton and her staff connected with a clash that rattled his bones. He fell back and she laughed.
“What’s the matter, kitty?” she taunted. “Didn’t you know leather is out of season?”
“I’d be more concerned about that if I were actually wearing leather,” Chat shot back. As though leather would ever hold up to the kind of beatings that he took!
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a flash of red that meant Lady Bee had summoned her Lucky Charm. Grimly, he held up his baton and went at Style Queen again while hoping that Lady Bee was getting a stroke of inspiration. Because otherwise, he had no idea what they were going to do.
