Ok Picard episode 8.
I procrastinated on watching it. Actual avoidance. So itâs at that stage /sigh.
Spoiler warning as always.
First letâs focus on the positives.
I am not someone that loves to hate. I am frustrated because I love and I do love Trek. So were there any good moments?
Yes Deanna and Rikerâs banter was mostly pretty cool. Worf needs to learn a sense of timing as enemies were maybe still around and I wasnât very taken with Rikerâs seeming jealousy? But otherwise everything between Deanna and Riker felt very natural. Even their talk about grief. It would be easy to say Deanna shouldnât have messed with his head but she was in the throes of grief too. His pain and her own and the love all mixed up together. People make irrational choices in an emotional maelstrom like that. Considering what they went through, I think they were just coping best they could. So yeah their relationship was a high point.
Raffi taking on Vadicâs soldiers with swords made me go âElnor!!!â because did our favourite sword wielding badass teach her? Watching Raffi fight was cool. Worf banter afterwards was good too.
Seven finally snapping and correcting Captain Asshat was long overdue.
BUT as weâre now getting into the ânot so great territoryâ the fact that he didnât seem to learn or care about the correction is maddening. Habit might have meant he continued to say Hansen, but what comes out first doesnât have to be last. He could have acknowledged Sevenâs words and ruefully corrected himself and he did not.
Captain Asshat having a go at Seven in the middle of the situation was also a WTF moment. If he disagreed with the call and wants to chew her out, do it afterwards when they are in the âreport writing phaseâ. If they can talk under their breath say something useful to think of a way out, or encouraging for morale. Busting her chops was just going to make everyone feel worse. Piss poor leadership to what stroke his own ego?
Also changelings are resilient. If Seven had blown the lift that was no guarantee it would have killed Vadic. They are goo. Besides as I recall it Shaw practically dove in the turbo lift offering himself as hostage. If he wanted it blown that badly I suggest not being in it. Anyway laying the guilt trip on Seven was just inappropriate timing. Was Seven wrong? I donât know - road not taken - and Seven is going to torture herself endlessly over this anyway. Him sanctimoniously going âthatâs not StarFleetâ may well be the push to resign her commission at the end of the season.
Sevenâs âIâm facing the consequencesâ snark back to Shaw. She would have sacrificed herself. I think she would have done it anyway but him putting the boot in on the guilt trip only made her need to make it right. Begging Vadic to kill her. Moving to fight to try and force that. All because I think Seven followed Janewayâs teachings who I think said âwe donât trade livesâ I swear I remember that. Itâs ok to sacrifice your own but not others. Besides it was a split second. A âdo I kill Captain Asshat and have a legit reason? Shit I hate him, theyâll think I did it on purpose. Oh fuck I have lost my window as the turbo lift takes less than 17 secondsâ I mean we had that conversation a few episodes ago. About how long it took to get to SickBay. Itâs not a long time.
Speaking of the whole guilt thing. I am sick to death of only the bridge crew/officer lives mattering. This is how Star Trek got the whole âredshirtâ cliche in the first place. It was pretty damn dark showing the crew running scared through the halls, getting locked in with the pursuing killers, and massacred. But then it was like those lives, and those losses, didnât make an impact. It was all about the âexecuting the bridge every 10 minutesâ and all I kept thinking was âwhat about all the other poor sods who have been killed already?â I mean they really tried to hammer it home. One guy had a knife in their neck pinning them to the wall. It was pretty gruesome. But then no emotional payoff. That is what is needed. The visuals arenât enough. All flash and no substance.
Iâm really not vibing with the whole âchosen oneâ thing they have going on with Jack Crusher. Not going to lie my first fanfics were rife with OCâs. They sort of drove the plot. This reeks of the same thing. Admittedly I was 11 at the time. I think I had learned between by the time I was 14 or so. How old is Matalas? Anyway Jack Crusher is the fanfic OC. The special one, and all the characters we know and love are dancing around him and I really donât give a damn. What reason have they given for us to care? That he was semi-cool for 5 minutes as a Han Solo rip-off? The narrative is on one hand trying to push that nostalgia/the old characters are all that matter, and on the other make Jack Crusher the second coming since Merlin. Erm no.
I suppose it could be argued that Soji filled the same function in season 1 but I would argue it was different because of how the narrative placed it. Soji filled a role and the characters moved to save her, to take her home etc. but the focus of the narrative was on the federation itself, on ideology. It was on Picard getting his purpose back, on making a new life for himself. There was the found family aspect of the forging of the new crew. Yeah you could say Soji âdrove the plotâ but the narrative focus wasnât on Soji. Not how it is with Jack Crusher.
Season 3 has been so disparate and piecemeal. There doesnât feel like there has been any character journeys for those characters we know and love. Itâs like soundbite to nostalgia scene, shiny special effect mixed with a plot that fails to make sense.
I did like that Deanna got to use her abilities. About time she actually got to do something. But I donât think opening the door that evil lurks behind is a good idea. I mean wonât that let it out? Are they ever going to explain how this door thing/telepathy exists in a human like Jack? Because he is special for plot is not a reason I accept.
And then Data /sigh. That was a cool sequence I admit with the memories and Brent Spiner acted the hell out of it. But I donât know. So much focus on Data. Although as I said to someone, itâs not actually lack of screentime thatâs the issue, itâs what they are doing with it. Showing Jack Crusher cry for the 20th time is a waste of film. The plot itself is also very⊠this feels like a feature film that has been stretched to 10 hours. It doesnât have the feeling of the character moments that makes a TV Show. The focus is on the âbig stuffâ but thatâs not what I watch TV for. If I want the big set pieces I would watch a movie.
Oh and one last thing (though I have probably forgotten things) I am not immune to visuals. Seeing them all around the briefing room table again sure was something. For me it wasnât worth screwing over pretty much every character (and especially ones not in that room) but it was very nostalgic.

As a film major, game designer, general all around creative person who's also worked in the industry in a few ways:
For the love of GOD avoid these people at ALL costs. I worked on a fucking sci-fi game based around a body swapping mechanic and these people were perfectly fine until we got to environment design and level design shit (my realm)
"Well why is this light source here?"
Me: Because that's how the cave is illuminated so it isn't pitch black because games don't magically produce ambient lights like real life does and the light we need is too intense to put together with the textures and things you've already made.
"idk doesn't feel realistic"
Me: *remembers 7 minutes ago where we were talking about a body that could grow wings and lift spaceships and possibly throw them into the atmosphere* yeah sure dude whatever.
Also on this project was the fucking weird fixation with general ecology of the environment and it needing to be PERFECT in every SINGLE way with his unimaginative thinking and limitations on what he felt was ecologically sound. Which was also why the ambient lighting issue wouldn't work. Guy had the super original idea of glowing mushrooms with bioluminescence that fucked up the entire atmospheric lighting we made because of the shape, size, and texture they utilized.
"why does this plant look like a corkscrew with illuminated rings and a fruit on the top?"
Me: Because that's what you asked for. You wanted creative-ish alien plant-life that could explain away the lighting issue you have without getting rid of your precious mushrooms you paid for concept art for 10 years ago on DeviantArt. You also specifically said 'maybe a corkscrew like plant with a flower or fruit on top?'
"Idk man how are the alien bat things gonna drink from this plant. Doesn't work with the ecology for the plant to exist, forget the last week or so of general concept work on the entire environment and let's build it fresh from the mushrooms and this bug I saw a design of on artstation."
The guy was insufferable. On top of this every single cinemasins bro I've ever met EVER regardless of the medium or place in the industry has had one consistent trait: They're the "idea man" who provides the "totally original" ideas, will never budge on them, and if you even try to tell him that the idea may need to be SLIGHTLY tweaked to make it work, or make workload more feasible he will ream you in front of the entire team.
Like I know this was about something a little more "don't be dumb" than my example but it exists in so many fuckin ways and I am endlessly frustrated by it. Nothing wrong with caring about the project but the project was scrapped because it was just earth. The guy made earth look a little weird at best and that was it. This one issue was like just one scrap on the pile. He took a rad alien sci-fi game and made every single environment he made for the promotional material fucking planet earth. Of the 6 planets we made they were totally indecipherable from earth and imo in the sci-fi genre that's not good lmao. Like at least do something weird about it that makes it CLEARLY alien. Fucking 2 suns or something Jesus Christ.
Anyways avoid them at all costs. Do not hire them. Hate them endlessly. Please for the love of all that is holy do not let these fucking weird freaks invade the industry I am LITERALLY begging. They're like a cancer or a fuckin black mold that kills everyone near it but never quite goes away.
why do they let the worlds most boring people direct movies

Wowy hii, saw that you're writing for slasher, so here I am!
Can I plz have some hcs about any slashers with s/o, but their s/o is a literal gremlin, like they're not serious at all, always joking and annoying people around, but sometimes might be quite soft and quiet.
Thank you and have a nice day! â€ïž
This was fun to write lmao
Warnings: Sexual harassment, NSFW, murder, blood, canabilism
Characters: Thomas Hewitt, Bo Sinclair, Lester Sinclair, Billy Lenz, Stu Macher, Michal Myers
Slashers With An S/O That Never Takes Anything Seriously:
Thomas Hewitt:
Thomas is a little overwhelmed by your personality at first.
Heâs a quiet and reserved man whoâs never had any kind of friends, so goofiness and jokes can make him feel uneasy at first.
But!! He gets used to everything very quickly!!!
Thomas loves everything about you and he finds you to be incredibly charming.
He can get a little anxious when he sees you annoying Hoyt because he doesnât want his uncle to do anything bad to you in irritation/retaliation.
Your jokes are always a stress reliever for him, since he spends most of his days in a dark basement, surrounded by blood and gore. Your humor just shines a little bit of light on his day, and he loves you for that!
While Luda Mae and Hoyt might not like the fact that you never take anything seriously, Thomas finds it relieving. At the beginning of your relationship, Thomas was terrified of losing you because he thought you would be terrified of all screams, murder, and cannabilism, but he was pleasantly surprised to see that you didnât pay much mind to it.
Thomasâ family mostly saw you as a clown, but Thomas could only ever look at you as the brightest ray of sunshine that has ever graced his life.
After all, he was the only one that saw your softer side.
Your soft and quiet side mostly shone through during the evening. Something about the sunset and cicada chirping calmed your heart.
You would often take Thomas by the hand and lead him outside to sit on the front porch with you, so the two of you could cuddle and watch the sunset together.
Thomas was always so used to your voice, because you loved to talk about anything and everything, so your temporary quiet nature was new, yet comforting.
During these moments, there didnât need to be any talking between the two of you. You deep emotional bond allowed you both to communicate through actions.
You would lay your head on Thomas shoulder, stroking his chest, and Thomas would wrap his big arms around your smaller frame, resting his masked cheek against the top of your head.
This was Thomasâ way of saying, âI love you, youâre the best thing in my life,â and your way of saying âI could never live without you.â
Bo Sinclair:
:|
Youâre gonna annoy the fuck out of this boy
Sometimes you both wonder how the two of you even got together, but the nights you and Bo spent pleasuring each other, going round after round, reminded you both how. (Your both just sexy okay its that simple)
Bo was a serious guy, so he was a little miffed that he was always the one having to take the lead in everything since you just couldnât stop making a joke out of everything.
Sometimes you would actually make him really irritated due to your tendency to irk people endlessly, so he would have to step away to cool off and blow off some steam.
Sometimes he would yell at you in anger, which always made him feel like shit after, so he tended to stalk off to his shop to calm down before speaking to you.
You would have to go see him a couple hours later to wrap your arms around him from behind and shyly apologize to him.
He favored these moments the most.
Your voice quieter than usual, focusing on just him, touching him gently.
He would always accept your apologies, of course, and would let you know by kissing your lips softly.
Bo liked to take advantage of your softer side by lifting you up by your waist and setting you on the hood of whatever car he had been working on and kissing down your neck.
As revenge, Bo liked to draw out his teasing as long as possible. Kissing down your neck, chest, stomach, massaging your pussy through your skirt, palming your breast roughly.
It gets to a point where you just have to tell him, âBo, I need you to fuck me.â
And he would oblige.
He would take you right then and there, on the hood of the car.
The metal beneath you was always shockingly cold, making you shiver against Boâs chest.
âYou cold, Darlin,â Bo would ask teasingly as he pulled your panties off. âDonât worry, Iâll warm you right up.â
He would spend hours licking your pretty pink pussy if he could. He licks and sucks and kisses your most intimate part until you're shaking and crying above him, begging him to fuck you sensless.
After heâs satisfied with your helplessness, heâll lean back up and ram himself inside of you. There have been many nights where he has taken you gently and slowly in his garage, holding your hand with every thrust, kissing your sweet lips to quiet your whimpers, but tonight was different. There was a primal need shared between you two. Bo wanted to let his frustrations on through loving you, and you wanted to be taken hard and fast.
When the two of you are done, you lounge around inside the car to catch your breath, holding hands. Everything seems so perfect.
Until-
âHey, Bo? What did the toaster say to the slice of bread?â
â.....â
âI want you inside me! Eh ha ha..â
:////
Lester Sinclair:
!!!!!
You like constantly joking and never taking things seriously? He does too!!
Lester would find you absolutely hilarious. Every joke you cracked would have him doubling over in laughter. Which would make you double over in laughter. Which would make Lester laugh harder, because now you both have the giggles and both of your laughs are just too infectious.
Everytime the two of you would go to Ambrose to visit his brothers, you guys would annoy the hell out of Bo and Vincent. Bo just wants to be left alone to work in his shop but instead heâs stuck listening to you tell a 40 minutes story about how you burnt dinner last night.
And Vincent just wants to be left alone to paint and sculpt but instead heâs here listening to Lester crack jokes that are a.) not funny and b.) donât make any sense. -_-
Your and Lesterâs trailer is always filled with so much love and laughter and the two of you could not be any happier.
You both have your own soft and quiet moments that hit at random times.
Sometimes it happens when the two of you are play fighting in the living room, howling with laughter. You both fall to the floor, wrestling and giggling until the both of you run out of breath and just gaze at each other as you lay on the carpet.
âYou look so cute,â he giggles.
âNo, YOU look so cute!â
âW-well!!! I love you!!â
âUhm...well...I love you MORE.â
And it just turns into an argument about who adores the other more.
Billy Lenz (1974):
The perfect couple.
Literally.
The two of you are always joking around, cackling and goofing about every little thing.
Billy has finally found his soulmate and he could not be happier.
He two of you prank the sorority girls together, making sex sounds in unison to sound even more vulgar.
Everytime you crack a joke, you get worried Billy is joking because of how hard heâs laughing.
âUmm Billy you okay? It wasnât even that funny.â
âHA haha...piggy makes me laugh...Billy loves your jokes.â
Needless to say, your relationship is filled with smiles, laughter, and praise.
Billy will tell you youâre the funniest person heâs ever met and he wants to keep you forever.
You tell Billy you love how much he laughs at your antics and that you canât live without him.
Itâs impossible to annoy Billy. Itâs just not feasible.
Any time you try, heâll just giggle and pat your head, telling you youâre his âfavorite piggy ever.â
He LOVES when you annoy the sorority girls thoug!
Hearing you moan and squeal and speak so sexily vulgarly to Barb and Jess makes Billy so proud. And horny.
Almost all of your sexual encounters are filled with complete silliness.
Sometimes, however, the joking and cackling subside. The two of you will just be chilling, nothing else to do, and you just feel the need to profess your love for your boyfriend.
âI love you so much Billy.â
Billy will look startled at your sudden outburst, before he breaks out in a huge grin, launching across the room to tackle you into a hug.
âBilly loves you too! Billy loves you more than anything!!!â
Now the rest of your day will be spent in Billyâs arms, whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Stu Macher:
Match made in Heaven!
Stu loves to joke around.
He hardly ever takes anything seriously.
He annoys everyone.
And once he meets you? It's love at first sight.
The two of you are always in detention because you guys just cannot shut up in class. You are always disrupting something.
But you know what that means!
Detention dates <3
As long as the two of you together, Stu couldn't care less about where he was.
He and Billy appreciate your habit of not taking anything seriously because once the murders start occuring, you don't think too much about it, never asking questions or arousing suspicion around your boyfriend and his bestie.
When Billy had told Stu his plan to kill Sydney, and asked him if he was going to kill you as well, Stuâs heart sank.
He remembers when he was dating Tatum, just a few months ago, before he broke up with her for you, he had no qualms about killing her,
But you?
He loved you. You were his other half. The one person who understood him, who accepted him. He could never hurt you.
âNah dude. Iâm leaving her out of this.â
That night, he sneaks through your bedroom window to see you.
âStu! (where the hell have you been loca) Whatâre you doing here?â
The sparkling smile you flash at him and the love swimming in your big, beautiful eyes makes him feel even guitler.
He feels bad that youâre dating a serial killer. He thinks you deserve better, but he would never let you go.
âHey babe! I just missed you!â
You rushed over to him, dressed in kitty cat pajamas, and hugged him tight. He had only snuck through your bedroom window a couple of times before, and they had all been planned. Seeing him in your room as a surprise made your heart burst with happiness.
Stu led you to your bed and pulled you up onto his chest to cuddle you. It was late, and the both of you were tired. Stu just wanted to lay with you in silence, appreciating your presence.
You didnât feel like releasing your usual high energy at the moment. Right now, you just wanted to fall asleep on your boyfriendâs chest, listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
Michael Myers:
Girl
Michael does not appreciate your antics.
Annoying him is easy, but you would never know that.
He keeps his emotions very private, so when he is annoyed heâll just stalk away from you.
He does not think youâre funny :(
He does enjoy your quiet moments. He likes to come home when your energy is low.
Heâs usually covered in blood when this happens, so you clean him up without cracking a joke which he appreciates.
Youâll turn on a movie for the both of you, and Michael lets you cuddle up with him.
He does like you, he just doesnât want you to know that...

Where Loyalties Lie
(Technoblade X reader)Â
Request 3: Can we get a little angsty fic or headcanon of Techno trying to get the reader to leave Lâmanberg?
Requested By: Anonymous
~~~
   âTubbo please take a deep breath,â You followed him around the rubble as he paced restlessly.Â
   âIâm president of a crater (Y/n)!â The boy pulled on his ears with a loud whine, âWhat am I gonna do. I canât believe Wilbur blew it up-â He felt your hands touch his own and gently pull them away from his oversensitive goat ears. âWhat am I gonna do? I-Iâm a kidâŠâ You frowned, moving to cup his cheek with your hand. He nuzzled into it desperately, welcoming the comforting touch of someone who he considered family.Â
   âYouâre going to get through it because youâre strong.â You told him, âand so brave little ram.â He flushed pink letting out a whine of protest especially because he was still surrounded by most of his friends.Â
You watch as Quackity walked over to the both of you and placed his hand on Tubboâs shoulder squeezing it, âWeâll rebuild. Weâll be right behind you Tubbo.â He smiled at the kid and you couldnât help but smile over at him.Â
   âThank you both. Truly.âÂ
There was one thing that had you were worried you may come to regret, and that was not taking Technobladeâs hand as he fled from the country. You were close almost touching it, he looked like he wanted to beg for you too but one desperate cry from Tubbo had you pulling away. He looked heartbroken but at the same time, you saw understanding in his deep red eyes.Â
Family came first.Â
That day he pulled you close pressing a soft kiss on your forehead, âIâll be back for you.âÂ
You murmured a soft Iâm sorry, turning to find Tubbo to make sure he wasnât injured or dying. The thoughts of the festival replaying in your head, you couldnât go through that...not again especially because now Tubbo was officially on his last life. Tommy couldnât fathom how you didnât blame Technoblade for what happened that day, but to you, two things were clear: one was that Tubbo didnât blame him which made it easier on your end to forgive him; two Schlatt was manipulative and overwhelming as fuck you canât blame someone for something they were peer pressured into doing. Speaking of Tommy you ended up finding Tubbo and him in the rubble that day, the taller male was pressing cloth to Tubboâs bleeding arm desperately, when you took over and Tommy seemed grateful.Â
However, you had to push your possible regrets aside and focus on the new nation youâd help build, and build it you did. You worked endlessly for months on end creating a lovely new nation for people to live in, Tubbo had dubbed it New Lâmanburg. You felt his pride and happiness, he just loved seeing everyone together again and happy once again. Finally, the server felt somewhat normal after all that destruction, even if there was a Techno-shaped hole in your heart. Things changed rather quickly when Tubbo was, in your eyes, manipulated to exile Tommy by Dream. You had tried to argue for the boy saying that not only was he Tubboâs friend but just a kid. You were shut down harshly by not only Dream but Tubbo as well, the look in his eyes was filled with so much loathing and frustration. Itâs the first time he ever snapped and was harsh to you, you felt your own frustration bubble up in your chest. You turned on your heel and marched back up into your house, you were not going to put up with this behavior. When you slammed the door shut, and turned around to find Technoblade standing in your living room, with your cat purring fondly on his shoulders; you almost screamed.
   âHeh- why are you scared itâs just me?â The hybrid complained his nose scrunching up, âDonât be cringe- oof-â Techno grunted as you threw your arms around his waist, the man flushed to the tips of his ears and looked away from you, Taffy hopped off his shoulders disgruntledly, âYeah, yeah, I missed you too.â He pet the top of your head tenderly and you looked up at him with a smile.Â
   âWhatâre you doing here Tech? If Tubbo finds out heâll have your head.âÂ
   âThen I guess weâll just have to make sure he doesnât find me then huh?â He mused lips, quirking into a smile, and you nodded in agreement. âOther than that just running some errands. Iâm in retirement now you know. I have to say that âNew LâManburgâ is certainly a name.â He did air quotes around the name and you nudged him,Â
   âBe nice.â
   âBoo Cringe. Iâm a Blood God starlight. I donât do nice.âÂ
   âBullshit,â You punched him in the arm, âTea?âÂ
   âPlease.â He cracked a smile as you walked over to your tea kettle heating the water and grabbing some tea bags.Â
   âSo, you came here to run some errands huh? I almost thought you missed me?â Technoblade shuffled a little behind you, how could you read him so perfectly? It was complete and utter bullshit. You heard him click his tongue distastefully behind you and you couldnât help but smirk cheekily,
   âGet off my back woman.â He stated gruffly as you laughed, âbut I guess I do miss you a little bit.â You smiled fondly and softly cooed at him and he let out another scoff,Â
   âA little bit?â
   âWhat is this interrogation? You a cop now?â You placed his tea in front of him and he took a sip,
   âYeah, weâre gonna need to do a strip search. Drop your pants.â Technoblade choked on his drink, face turning the darkest shade of red youâve ever seen from him. You howled with laughter sliding down in your seat beside the man.Â
   âI changed my mind. I didnât miss you at all, youâre a terror.â
   âYou love me, admit it.â
   âYeah, yeah, yeah.â He murmured looking at you with a sudden softness that was out of character for him. You didnât notice the change but it was there, oh if only you knew how much of what you said was true. He did love you. He ran his tongue across his teeth and reached out to interlock your hands within his own.Â
   âCome live with me.âÂ
   âTechâŠâ
   âIâm in retirement now. Iâm going to get some turtles hopefully, maybe some other pets while Iâm at it. Thereâs a lot of room...It gets lonely all alone you know. Itâd be nice to have you there with me.â He watched hesitance flicker across your face again just like the day Wilbur blew up LâManburg. Your thoughts went to Tubbo and how much he needed you, especially now that Tommy was exiled. However, you were also brought back to a few moments ago where Tubbo snapped at you for trying to help. You took a ragged breath and pushed his hand away, he frowned sadly bringing his hand back down to his lap.Â
   âI need to be here for Tubbo. Heâs a kid Tech...way over his head. Dreams sniffing around him like a dog looking for his next victim to manipulate. I canât let that happen, not to him. I know heâs President of this nation and you hate him for that, but heâs my brother and I love him. Heâs a tough kid with a lot of fire, but I canât just leave him in the dust. I love you,â You reached up and cupped his cheek and Technoblade felt his cheeks burn at the implication, âbut I canât leave until Tubbo is safe.âÂ
   âIâll convince you one day.â Technoblade shot back even though his heart ached, that you wouldnât be coming home with him. But Technoblade wasnât known for giving up. He was stubborn as hell, heâd win you over yet. Youâd come home with him, heâd confess to you and heâd make you the happiest person in the world. You just...didnât know it yet.Â
   âIâm excited for the day you do Tech.â You snickered softly, you both were startled by harsh knocking on the door.
   âThatâs my cue. See you soon Starlight,â Technoblade hummed slipping right out the window, you watched him go longingly. You shuffled towards the door and opened it slowly, on the front steps stood Tubbo who was rocking nervously on his feet.Â
   âHiâŠâÂ
   âHey LR...you okay?â Tilting your head to the side,
   âIs LR supposed to stand for little ram?â
   âProblem?â
   âNoâŠI suppose not.â He murmured before clearing his throat and straightening his back, âI wanted to talk with you.âÂ
   âOh?â You raised an eyebrow watching him nod his head sternly, you walked outside and closed the door behind you so you could lean on it. âShoot,â
You watched as Tubbo swallowed thickly, âFirst off Iâm sorry for yelling at you earlier. It wasnât fair of me to snap.â He watched you nod a little urging him to continue, âhowever, I am the President now and you have to respect my authority.â Eyebrows furrowing together in frustration you opened your mouth to counter him but he held up his hand, âDream has an idea of how to rule. He can steer me in a better direction-â
   âPardon me?â You let out a disbelieving laugh, âA better direction? Tubbo, are you forgetting everything we all fought for, we fought him for independence. He killed us!âÂ
   âHe mightâve changed!â
   âHe exiled Tommy!âÂ
   âHe deserved it!â Tubbo shouted back as your nose scrunched up, âHeâll steer me in a direction that you never could!â He snapped before realizing what he said, he slapped his hands over his mouth eyes widening to the size of saucers. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean that-âÂ
   âGo home Tubbo.âÂ
   â(Y/n) please,â He reached out towards you and you held up your hand,Â
   âGo reset the day. You need rest,â You frowned, turning back into the house âsee you tomorrow.â Inside the house you shut the door on him and slid down onto the floor, you brought your hands to your mouth and swallowed thickly. A part of you wished Technoblade was still here just so he could tell you to get over yourself, he wasnât skilled in the art of comforting others, but he could make you laugh. To keep yourself sane you reminded yourself that Tubbo was a child and needed you now more than ever, especially if he thought Dream was dishing out good advice. But you were hurt and a selfish part of you wished you could just go live in retirement with Technoblade and not worry about the new country forming, but you couldnât ditch Tubbo.Â
Running a hand through your hair you sighed loudly, one might wonder what exactly could Tubbo do to make you listen to Technobladeâs offer. Honestly, you had no idea if anything would make you do that unless of course they just started executing people or something ridiculous like that.Â
Restless was how youâd describe the rest of your night, you tried to sleep but after a few hours of tossing and turning you gave up. You decided to make yourself a âhealthyâ midnight snack, a small bowl of mac & cheese, you didnât care, you were sad. You sighed softly scratching behind your catâs ears, âItâs just you and me against the world Taffy isnât it?â Her purrs rang in the air as she snuggled against your hand, distracting you just enough to swipe a noddle from your bowl. âYou fat bitch!â You hissed as she ran off back up the stairs, you leaned back in your chair and sighed, literally nothing was going your way today. Just as you finished up your snack you heard a soft ping upon your window, turning to the sound you noticed your neighbor Phil awake in his house. He held up a hand and waved at you through it, and with a small smile, you waved back. He shuffled back into his home, I guess you both were insomniacs together, Techno knew how to pick a certain type of friend it seemed.Â
You walked back up to your bedroom and slid under the covers once more, maybe you were wrong and things were going to get better.Â
Months went by and nothing seemed to change much to your disappointment. Tubbo and you were still a little rocky, you had forgiven him for his harsh words but he always put Dreamâs and even Quackityâs opinion before your own. When you came back from visiting Niki one day and saw wanted posters of Technoblade all around the country you almost had a stroke. You confronted Tubbo about it and only half answered you before running off when Quackity called him. That worried you, he normally didnât like lying, especially not to you.Â
The same day you were walking into the market to get some fresh fruit when a hand shot out from the wanted poster and pulled you behind it. You were held flush against someoneâs chest who chuckled gruffly, you recognized that chuckle anywhere. âTechno! Whatâre you doing here?â You asked looking up at him with eyes filled with concern, âdonât you know youâre a wanted man?â
   âI think that just makes this all the more exciting.â Techno mused running his fingers through your hair, âPlus itâs not like anyone here can catch me.âÂ
   âWrong I could catch you.â He dared to laugh in your face,Â
   âSure you could, and Iâm half sheep.â Technoblade mused and he watched you huff cutely, âDonât get all huffy at me you know Iâm right.â You only waved him off, âseriously though Iâm here to do some trading with Phil.â
   âOhâŠâ You gave a nod, âWill I see you more frequently then?â
   âYou could see me all the time if you moved in with me.â Techno joked again and was surprised to see your face fall a little. Are you serious? Was he getting you to crack? âStarlight?âÂ
   âAsk me again in a few months and I might say yes,â You teased brushing the question off swiftly, Technoblade didnât pry but he could tell you were almost convinced. Just what was going on in this country to make you want to leave your little brother? âNow shoo, go see Phil before he gives up on you.â You gave him a little shove and he stumbled off with a huff sticking his tongue out at you in the process.Â
After that encounter, you didnât run into Technoblade for another very long stretch of time. About a month or so after that encounter, Tubbo had shown up at your doorstep a complete nervous wreck. He begged you to help him, claiming he needed diamonds for an upcoming project and wanted you to acquire them for him. âTubbo I donât understand why I need to go on this trip? I have diamonds I can just give you. You know I donât care.âÂ
   âBut I feel bad about it,â Tubbo argued with you âplease just do this for me.â
   âYou know Iâll do anything for you. If you want me to get them this way Iâll do it. I should be back tonight is that okay? Do you need them sooner?â Tubbo looked relieved as he took your hands in his own,Â
   âNo tonight is perfect!â The boy chirped sounding more like himself than he has in months, you couldnât help but smile. You ruffled his hair a little before kissing his forehead,Â
   âThen tonight you shall have them, Little Ram.âÂ
Tubbo helped you gather the materials you needed for a trip down into the mines, Tubbo even gave you some fire resistance potions. You thanked him for the potions before putting on your armor and heading down into the tunnels. As you were down in the mine the concept of time was always an illusion, so when you finally found diamonds for Tubbo and you left the cave you were surprised to see the sun was just setting. You hummed softly to yourself walking back into New Lâmanburg excited to show off to Tubbo you couldnât help but wonder what he needed them for in the first place. However, when you entered town you were greeted by a gathering going on at the center. Everyone seemed to be there clad in what looked to be butcherâs outfits, your vibe was immediately thrown off eyebrows furrowing in concern. Quackity was giving some sort of speech and that finally drew your eyes towards the podium, locked inside a cage was a fuming Technoblade. You rushed towards the group, pushing past Ghostbur and a blue sheep, and grabbed tightly onto Tubboâs arm.Â
   âTubbo what the fuck is happening?â He tensed turning towards your face. It was no secret that you and Techno were friends, this wasnât good at all.
   â(Y/n)! Youâre back early!â He spoke nervously rubbing his hands together as Quackity turned towards you,Â
   âWelcome back!â Quackity hopped off the podium with a smirk, âFundy grab them.âÂ
   âQuackity hey wait a minute-â Tubbo started as Fundy roughly grabbed onto your arms pinning you in place,Â
   âOw hey! Watch it! Let go of me!â
   âGet your hands off them!â Technoblade snarled nostrils flaring grabbing the bars of the cage tightly.Â
   âQuackity you said weâd leave them out of this!â Tubbo argued and your jaw dropped staring at Tubbo, âYou promised!âÂ
He waved Tubbo off with a scoff, âtheyâre just as bad as Phil, Tubbo. She needs to be punished. We can't play favorites when trying to run a country. Weâll execute Techno then deal with the other traitors.â
   âExecute?â You choked, âyou canât be serious! Tubbo you cannot be serious, since when are you okay with public executions?â He refused to look at you, his hair covering his eyes, he only nodded his head in Quackityâs direction.Â
   âDo it.âÂ
   âTubbo!â You shrieked watching Quackity grin maliciously, moving over to pull the lever that would allow the anvil to fall and crush the man below it.Â
What happened next was a cluster fuck, someone began trying to set off TNT, and Quackity pulled the lever. It fell rapidly towards Techno and he pulled something out of his pocket, in a flash of bright colors and bursts of light Technoblade was ripped apart and pulled back together again. He was alive, Technoblade really doesnât ever die. He hopped on top of the anvil and jumped the bars of the cage, Fundy had long since lost his grip on you, he noticed Dream ushering him inside a cavern and he paused a moment. The hybrid turned towards you holding out his hand one final time, the world seemed to stop a moment and it was just you and him. His face held a desperate look in it, almost pleading you to take his hand within your own. You flashed back to the day Wilbur blew the country up, Tubbo called your name you glanced over your shoulder once towards Little Ram. You reached into your bag and dropped the diamonds you found for him on the ground, you grabbed Technobladeâs hand and squeezed it tightly. Technoblade smiled and yanked you forward, leaving a heartbroken Tubbo in your wake.
Brettsey + prompt 15?
P.S. Thank you for doing this đđ
15. âWhen Iâm with you, Iâm home.â
Sylvie Brett is a talker.
Thatâs just the way sheâs always been. She comes from a warm and loving family, where she was always met with honesty and affection. Her family isnât perfect, sure, but her parents are unfailingly kind. They always encouraged her to open up, always talked with her. Itâs in her blood, she thinksâ the natural urge to want to talk it out with the people she cares about.
So, when the majority of the Casey family decide to opt out of coming to her and Mattâs wedding, she takes it personally.
Christie and Violet RSVP and are thrilled to come. But Sylvie badgers Nancy Casey for weeks, grovels endlessly when she visits for a few days, begs her and the rest of his extended family to work out their issues. At the very least, she thought theyâd be able to put all of that crap aside for one night and see how happy she and Matt are together, but nope. Not even Sylvieâs willpower can force the Caseys into temporarily resolving their issues. Theyâre secretive and stubbornâ more stubborn than Matt, evenâ which means to them, Sylvieâs demands are out of the question.
Sheâs on the phone now, taking advantage of the quiet morning theyâve had on shift and trying her best to get Mattâs mom to see reason. This is their wedding, for crying out loud. Nancy doesnât have to like Sylvie but she should be there for the weddingâ if only to support Matt.
âIâm sorry, Sylvie. Even if I could make it, I think me being there would do him more harm than good,â Nancy sighs through the phone.
âNo! No, heâd love it if you were there,â she assures her, pacing around the bunk room.
âMatt knows me, sweetheart. He knows I donât stay in one place for too long, me being at your wedding isnât what either of us needs. Besides, Iâm sure the others will want to come and thatâs a lot of drama Iâd rather avoid.â
âThey donât want to come either. Iâve been calling his living relatives all morning but none of them will budge or even try and let go of mysterious grudges they have. I mean, uncles, aunts, cousins. All of them declined the invites. This is an important day for Matt, they have to see that, don't they? If they could just sit down and talk it out I'm sure they couldââ
âThey wonât,â Nancy tells her sympathetically. âSylvie, our family is much too complicated. We have a saying in our family, you know. âNever have more than two Caseys in one room if you want to stay saneâ. Trying to fix our familyâs issues is like trying to find a penny in the ocean, dear. Itâs just not going to happen, no matter how hard you try or how optimistic you get.â
âMrs. Caseyâ Nancyâ Iâm just asking for you to stop by. An hour, tops. Please. Youâre his mom.â Sylvie tries staying calm as she stops her pacing but she canât help the frustrated edge in her tone.
âI know, dear,â she replies with a lamentful sigh. âBut Iâve let Matt down one too many times to ever deserve that title.â
Sylvie huffs defeatedly into the phone, sitting down on one of the cots. Maybe she should have seen this coming. Mattâs not expecting any of his family to show up, heâd told her as much. But sheâd wanted to surprise him with it. Now, seeing his expectations of his family be totally and completely accurate breaks her heart. Heâd been prepared for the worst; he always is. Only now, she doesnât blame him. The Caseys have given him nothing but the worst. She doesnât know why she thought now would be different.
âIâm glad he has you, Sylvie,â Nancy Casey continues softly. âLeaving isnât so hard for me this time, because I know Matt has someone someone like you in his corner, fighting for him. My son hasnât had much of that in his life, frankly. Iâm truly happy for the two of you.â
Sylvieâs anger towards his mom, and towards all of the Caseys for that matter, still lingers in her. Having her leave, having none of his family be there at the wedding, it feels all wrong. Theyâre his own flesh and blood, how could they let their stubbornness and secrets get in the way? How could they let down Matt like this?
Mattâs not even bothered by it though. At this point, itâs her theyâre disappointing.
But she takes a deep breath, soaking in her words. Sheâs happy for them and Sylvie suspects that took quite a lot for Nancy Casey to say it so vulnerably. She has enough emotional baggage for a life time, after all. So Sylvie takes what she can get.
âThanks,â Sylvie settles on replying. Arguing is pointless, so she wishes Nancy a safe trip and hangs up. Itâs a little anticlimactic but then again, the Casey familyâs drama never was all that flashy and exaggerated. Itâs more quiet and seething, like mellow, gently boiling water that burns to the touch.
Sylvie, however, is not. Sheâs never been one to hide her emotions or leave it below the surface. The Caseys are a frustrating bunch, and she fumes from her nostrils at the thought of it. That is, of course, until she sees Matt walk into his quarters from across the bunk room. The sight of him is enough to make her put her anger on the backburner because her heart just⊠breaks.
He wonât be surprised when she tells him she failed. Itâs not a fact that comforts her.
She pockets her phone, walks over to his quarters, and knocks on the edge of the open door. âHi.â
âHey,â he beams from his desk. Her face doesnât return as wide of a smile though, her normally cheerful demeanour gone. Matt picks up on it immediately (because of course he does) and his brows furrow. âYou okay?â
âI got off the phone with your mom,â she explains through tight lips.
âAh.â He gives a knowing nod, and Sylvie doesnât even need to finish her sentence. He knows. He knows, and it hurts. âI take it your plan about getting my family to come to the wedding didnât go so well.â
âNo, it did not,â she huffs, moving into his office and beginning her frustrated pacing again. She can feel the anger ramping up in her. âYou were right. They wonât holster their issues for one day. Your mom isnât even coming, sheâs leaving Chicago for some meditation retreat. Can you believe that?!â
âI can actually, yeah,â he sighs wistfully, observing her from his chair. âMomâs been flakey ever since she got out of prison. Making up for lost time, I guess. I told you they werenât going to budge on this, babe. Theyâre full of secrets and drama, that wonât change.â
âI know,â Sylvie huffs disappointedly, her shoulders sagging as her pacing comes to a halt. Matt shift his chair towards her slightly and steadies his feet on the ground, motioning for her. Sheâs instinctively drawn in, moving to wrap an arm around his shoulders and sit her legs across his lap. Her hands gently run through his hair as she starts to speak; an action that she finds strangely soothing. âIt just makes me so- so mad,â she pouts. âI wanted to fix things so badly that I didnât listen when you told me it wouldnât work. I just went ahead and failed anyway.â
âHey,â he hushes comfortingly. âYou didnât let me down in any way. You know that, right? You want to see the good in people, always, and I love you for it. And you tried, that counts for something. If they donât want to come to our wedding, thatâs their loss. I havenât even spoken to half of them in years anyway.â
âSee, thatâs just messed up,â she points out, pointing at him matter-of-factly. âTheyâre your family! Theyâre supposed to love you and show up for you, youâre supposed to feel at home when theyâre around. Instead, theyâre keeping these little secrets and disappointing people. Disappointing you, meâ us.â
âWhen Iâm with you, Iâm home,â he argues back softly with a grin.
âIâm being serious,â she replies with a frown.
âI am too,â Matt tells her. His arms are around her waist, pulling her closer in on his lap and moving his free hand up to her face. He brushes her hair away from her face and behind her ear, stroking circles on her cheek with his thumb afterwards. âEveryone at 51? Theyâre my real family. Youâre my family. Thatâs all I need at our wedding. No one else.â
At those words, Sylvieâs heart is finally able to relax and her shoulders ease up. Sheâs able to smile for the first time since calling Nancy Casey, letting it spread over her face as she holds Mattâs gaze. Theyâre getting married and when they do, their real family will be there with them. She holds onto that fact like itâs a lifeline until she feels better, soaking in the warmth of his embrace.
She leans in, cupping his face with one hand as she kisses him tenderly. He sucks in a soft breath, catching her bottom lip in between his before they pull away.
âThat sounds perfect to me,â she replies, in a voice somewhere in between a sigh and a happy hum.
Suddenly, the Caseys fade into the back of her mind and out of existence.
If I Didnât Love Him, Iâd Kill Him
Read on AO3
âHe did what?â Zatanna says through gritted teeth. Andrew, Boston, Swamp Thing, Xanadu and Etrigan all physically recoil at her rage.
âHe said he knew how to stop this, but it was dangerous. We tried to stop him from leaving but he made the house trap us all in,â Xanadu explains. The only reason theyâre not trapped now is the house likes Zatanna better than anyone and had let her back in with no question.
She was gone for no more than twenty minutes following a lead that might stop the demon Trigon from rising, she has a plan. An actual plan that will keep Raven safe from Trigonâs wrath and that isnât even all that dangerous.
But of course Johnâs decided to follow the dangerous plan, the plan that involves going straight to the source and likely getting killed in the process.
âIâm going to kill him,â she says brushing past everyone and rushing into the study. She pulls a map down from the wall and hovers her hand over it.
âDnif nhoJ enitnatsnoC,â she says a shower of golden light falling down from her fingers. It circles once, twice then settles onto the map a 3D shape of the motel heâs seemingly hold up in growing up from the map.
âEduig em ot mih,â she says the light settling into a ball and hovering before her heading for the door. She stomps after it. âFound him, be right back,â she says to the group pulling up a portal and stepping through it.
She spots Andrew from the corner of her eye an arm reaching out and grabbing her wrist. She comes through on the other side to a motel lit up bright and neon in the night Andrew right beside her. The glowing ball shimmers away and goes up into the sky its job done.
âI got this,â she says making her way to the main entrance.
Andrew nods. âI know you do, but Iâm just here to prevent bloodshed.â
Zatanna shoots a look over her shoulder at him, a look he reads correctly.
âYeah I know vampire, bloodshed, irony,â he grumbles pulling open the door for her the bell jingling as he does.
The woman at the front desk barely spares them a glance a severe look on her face that says she hasnât known joy in many years.
âHow many rooms?â she drones.
âWe donât need any rooms,â Zatanna says and the woman loses complete interest turning her head back down to a magazine flipping through it idly.
âI need to find my partner, heâs a little over 6 ft, sandy blonde hair, trench coat, absolute idiot,â Zatanna explains.
âI canât give out guest information,â she says blandly.
âOkay, I get that, but itâs an emergen-â
âDonât care, I canât give out guest information.â
âJust one check-â
âI cannot give out guest information,â the woman stresses one last time looking up at Zatanna and Andrew with an endlessly annoyed expression.
Zatanna sighs pushing back from the front desk running a frustrated hand through her hair. She understands this womanâs position, but she just really needs her to break the rules right now. She looks her over trying to find something, some sort of weak spot she could use to appeal to this womanâs sensitive side or even if it comes to it bribe her.
She notices the untanned portion of her ring finger where clearly for many years a wedding ring used to rest. She takes a gamble, guessing it didnât end well in the hopes to appeal to this severe womanâs scorned wife side.
âPlay along with it,â she whispers to Andrew before working her not literal, but hopefully just as successful magic on this woman. âMiss can I just-â
She pauses choking on her words a bit, trying her damndest to build up some crocodile tears. The woman turns back around that seemingly perpetually annoyed look on her face still.
âI know heâs in there with another one. First my best friend and now,â she chokes up again a little tear escaping her right eye. âWho knows, some girl from a bar, another guy from work.â
The womanâs face softens just a bit for the first time. Zatanna drops her head in her hands.
âI was so stupid, to believe him after the first time,â she hiccups. âBut I trusted him and here I am again, begging someone to let me into a room to catch him in the act.â
âI feel so stupid,â she says faux angry at herself. She manages to force another single tear from her eye as she looks back up at the front desk woman, who now looks wholly sympathetic. Bingo.
âYouâre not stupid sweetheart, you just wanted to see the best in the person you love. Iâve been there,â the woman says rubbing a hand comfortingly up and down Zatannaâs bicep. She gives her arm one last pat then turns to the wall of keys pulling one down.
âHe was way too much of a smooth talker, should have known,â she says turning Zatannaâs hand over and placing the key in her palm. âGo get the son of a bitch,â she says fierce and determined handing Zatanna a tissue and what looks like a gymnastâs baton.
âWhatâs this for?â she asks wiping the fake tears from beneath her eyes.
The woman leans in conspiratorially, giving Andrew the stink eye. He backs away from the desk hands up in innocence.
âIf you end up hittinâ him with this a few times, well you wonât hear a cop siren because of me,â she says with a wink pushing the baton towards Zatanna.
Zatanna has to physically hold back her laughter to keep herself in the role of the sad scorned partner. She almost feels bad for this womanâs ex-husband who no doubt is familiar with this baton or some variation of it.
âThank you,â she says with a sad smile taking the baton in hand. She pushes off the desk and makes her way to the door, Andrew in step alongside her. She looks at the room number on the key and makes a beeline directly for the odd numbered rooms.
âYouâre holding that baton quite tightly,â Andrew observes as he keeps up with her rapid pace. âAre you thinking about using it despite the fact John is not the cheating son of a bitch the front desk woman believes him to be?â
âItâs crossed my mind,â she says loosening her grip on the weapon. She stops at the door marked seventeen and flips the key in her hand. She holds the baton out for Andrew to take, he does so holding onto it just in case.
She slips the key into the lock and pushes open the door startling John to stand from where heâs carving sigils into his chest. He looks up at her, a bit of genuine fear in his eyes.
âOh, fuck, you found me,â he sighs dropping the runed magically enhanced blade in his hand.
âYeah, I found you dumbass,â she says walking up to him. She pokes him once right on the fresh sigil.
âOuch,â he says putting a hand over the sigil to protect it from her.
âJust be glad she didnât use the baton,â Andrew says from behind them waving it in the air. John eyes it warily then looks back at Zatanna that fear still present in his eyes.
âLook, Zee, I can explain,â he says holding up his hands.
âYou donât need to explain that youâre a self-sacrificing idiot who acts first and thinks second,â she says with an almost forgiving looking smile that makes John drops his arms to the side. She makes good use of John dropping his defenses and pokes him in the chest again. He curls back covering his chest protectively again.
âI have an actual plan, one that wonât involve your death at the hands of a thousand-foot-tall demon so,â she turns to Andrew and points at him. âYou go return that baton to the nice lady upfront and tell her I used it well, that should make her smile.â
He salutes her backing out of the door.
âAnd you,â she says pointing directly at Johnâs face. âNever come back here, because the woman at the front desk thinks youâre a serial two timer,â she says pausing at Johnâs look of offence.
âHey, you run off to be an idiot and I have to swindle my way into a room key you donât get a good backstory,â she says with shrug.
John sighs in defeat accepting it.
âNow, put on your shirt and prepare whatever apology youâre absolutely going to give me shortly so we can go home and actually deal with the situation at hand in a smart, thought-out way. Got it?â she says raising her eyebrows and crossing her arms.
âGot it, luv,â John says swallowing hard once.
âMake sure the apology is damn good, I had to fake cry to get a key to this room and I hate doing that,â she says pointedly stepping back out of the room waiting for what she hopes will be just a little bit of groveling.
Authorâs Note: Iâve kind of written a sequel for this fic and you can find it here! Check out my masterlist while youâre here too!
He knew she was special from the moment he met her. He could see the determination in her eyes, the hope that there was still some good left in the world. She was the only slither of light left in his world, the star guiding him through the darkness.
He was hesitant. He thought that if he told her it would ruin their relationship, or whatever it was that they were, but most importantly it would risk their lives. He had a good career, nobody would bat an eye about him, but he knew that if they came out to the world thereâd be whispers about her, and he couldnât be the one who ruined her career.
But one day, he was watching her. He watched her give her all to save a patient's life and he thought to himself, âI canât be the one to throw away the love of my life either.â
So he told her. Sure, he was a blubbering mess but he told her what he really felt, how much he cared for her, how much he loved her. That was all it took. Just like that, they were together. They were happy.
She doesnât think about the times she looked at him and knew right then and there he was the love of her life
âOf course youâre great with kids too,â she rolled her eyes.
He let go of the now 3-year-old little Ethan Hudsonâs hand. The two of them had taken their rare day off from work to spend some time with little Ethan, or as she liked to call him, Tad, short for tadpole, the nickname Delores used to call him.
âAnd thatâs a problem?â He raised an eyebrow at her as little Ethan ran off towards the playground in the middle of the park.
âYeah, now I canât find anything you arenât good at,â Ethanâs lips curled up into a small but visible smirk, âdo you know exactly how frustrating that is?â
âOh, I know all about it,â he wrapped his arms around her waist, âI have to deal with that every second Iâm around you.â
She threw her head back and laughed, âthat was very smooth.â
âI learned from the very best,â he replied as his smirk widened into a grin.
They sat down on a bench in peaceful silence as they watched little Ethan play on the playground with the other kids. He had gotten into some sort of argument with another toddler around his age. Theyâd been fighting over a sandcastle mould which was really one of them using it and the other snatching it up when no one was watching.
The sun was shining directly over them and it was starting to feel warmer by the second.
âWe should take little Ethan to go get ice cream,â she said to him as they watched him wipe sweat off his forehead. She started to get up when he pulled her back down.
âI canât let you tell him. He already likes you better than me and I refuse to end up just being âEthanâs auntâs boyfriend,ââ he said with playful disgust lacing the last few words.
She teased, âcan you really blame him?â
âNo, I suppose I canât,â he said as he stood up and took her hand, leading her to where little Ethan was, âyouâre just too perfect like that, Rookie.â
She didnât think of him anymore
If it werenât for the cool air or the streams of morning light passing through the ever so slightly opened window, she would have thought of the situation as less of a fairytale dream and more of what it really wasâa slow-moving nightmare that would haunt her endlessly
Her heart beat in sync with his breathing as she stared aimlessly at the wall to her side while he slept. Afraid that heâll leave all too soon, she closed her eyes and slowed her breathing when she felt him stir in bed, meaning that heâd be waking up any second now.
She felt him peel his arm off her side as he sat up in bed, probably looking around at the mess theyâd made last night. Her brain told her over and over again to open her eyes, do something, say something, anything to him, but she decided that maybe it was best if he just left right then and there. She didnât want to put herself through any more pain than she had already been through and knew sheâd undoubtedly face soon enough.
Light kisses were trailed down her neck as she felt his weight shift. Why did he do that? Why did he decide to remind her of their anger-fuelled relapse last night that ended with her in his arms, not wanting to be there but not willing to let go?
She felt warm drops of his tears fall onto the base of her neck as he left the last pepper of kisses. It was like he wanted to leave her with something to accompany the scars on her heart that he had caused.
She felt the weight being lifted off her as she felt him leave the bed. She tried to keep her eyes shut as she heard his feet shuffle across the hardwood floor of her bedroom.
But alas, her breaking point was when she heard his belt being picked up off the floor, along with his tie and the rest of his clothes that were strewn across the room, long forgotten in the haze that was the night before.
âDonât leave me,â she croaked out just as he finished tying the laces of his shoes, âplease, Ethan. Iâm begging you,â she pleaded desperately.
He looked at her sadly, maybe contemplating whether he wanted to stay or not, if he could bring himself to ruin her, if he wanted to be remembered in her eyes as the man who crushed her heart without a sense of guilt.
He stepped closer to her, standing at the edge of the bed. She looked up at him expectantly but he simply shook his head lightly. Cupping her face with his hands, he leaned down, bringing his lips to meet hers as he kissed her with all the emotions he could muster.
He stepped away, giving her one final longing look, âIâm sorry,â he looked down to his feet, âyou have no idea how sorry I am,â his hoarse voice made tears well up at the sides of her eyes, threatening to fall at any given moment.
She couldnât pull her eyes off him as he walked away no matter how much she wanted to. As the sound of the front door closing echoed through the silent hallway of her apartment, she stared ahead emotionlessly. She looked to her empty bed, the open wound that would never quite heal fully, if at all.
She didnât cry. She would have welcomed the tears with open arms right then but they just refused to fall, to roll down her face and stain the blankets that once wrapped around the man she thought sheâd spend the rest of her life with.
At that point, anything would be better than the dreadful feeling of emptiness that was stuck at the back of her throat, clawing at her emotions that left when he did.
There was no longer even the slightest trace of Ethan in the entirety of her apartment, no memories of last night's events present except the one that replayed in her mind over and over again.
She doesnât think about the words she wished could be taken back.
âWeâve all made mistakes, Rookie,â the enchanting nickname she used to love was being twisted against her, and she hated it.
âDonât compare us, Ethan. Iâm nothing like you,â she spat the words out as if they were venom.
âIt takes two people to destroy a relationship,â his volume raised a few levels.
âWell, when things get hard I donât run off to the Amazon for the second time!â
The words struck Ethan like a knife. How did she know he applied to go back? He laughed at himself internally, of course she knew. Everyone was in awe of her, someone wouldâve let it slip eventually.
Everything finally made sense, the guilt that had been building up for weeks now finally reached a breaking point when he saw the hurt look on her face.
Any anger he previously had disappeared as she turned away from him, not wanting him to see just how broken she was, how broken he made her. Something in her wanted him to yell at her, to tell her that she was wrong. She knew the truth, but she wanted him to lie to her one last time. It couldâve been good, it wouldâve been better.
The denial she wished so hard for never came.
âWill you ever forgive me?â He asked nervously.
She scoffed at his words, âOf course I want to forgive you, you have no idea how much I want to forgive you,â her voice softened, âbut Iâm scared that if I forgive you, youâll come back and hurt me deeper than you already have,â she told the truth, then decided that she absolutely hated telling the truth.
He let out a defeated and shaky sigh, âso weâre over then,â he leaned against the counter. She didnât know it, but if he hadnât leaned against the counter, he wasnât sure that he wouldnât have collapsed.
âYeah. Yeah, we are,â she tried to hide the tears that slipped down her cheeks but he noticed them, he always did. It broke him inside to know that he was the cause of her pain and her tears, and it hurt more to know that there wasnât anything he could do about it.
âThen I suppose this is goodbye.â
She doesnât love him, not anymore.
If she had a dollar every time she repeated that same stupid lie to herself, maybe sheâd be able to move out of the apartment that, even after so many nights, still felt like him. Maybe sheâd even have enough money to move out of the godforsaken city that reminded her of him at every turn,
Even with him being thousands of miles away from her, she still couldnât escape him. Occasionally, sheâd hear the interns admiring everything about Ethan Freaking Ramsey. Just like that, all the tape, glue, and bandages that she tried to patch her heart together with fell apart and she was left to dwell on all the good times they once had.
She told herself that sheâd get better. That one day she wouldnât fall apart at the mere mention of his name. Who knows, maybe one day when he gets back sheâd actually be able to hold an entire conversation with him.
Ethan wasnât a mess like she was, even though she hoped he would be. From what sheâd heard, he seemed to be handling the break-up well. The knowledge that he was fine when she wasnât was another stab in the heart.
Maybe it was all a ruse, sheâd hoped that he was putting up a front and was keeping his true feelings at bay with them, just like he had done to her.
But maybe those same friends told him that she was doing fine as well. On all accounts, she looked like she was doing fine. It was only when she locked herself away in her Ethan-free apartment that she could really be honest with herself.
If tissues filled her room, who would know? She was the only one who had to face the unmade bedsheets and piles of unfolded laundry. If anyone asked, she kept her room spotless.
And if she really asked herself, she didnât love him anymore, she had gotten over him and was ready to go on and venture into the next chapter of her life.
But even she knew those were all lies.
ENDLESSLY INFURIATED [1]
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Story: You hate Bucky Barnes more than anything and are not shy to let everyone know about this. Will things change when Steve convinces you to join him on a fancy night out?
There were not many things that endlessly infuriated you. Bucky Barnes, however, was definitely one of those things. His brooding, quiet self frustrated you to no end, and there was no clear explanation for this, not even to you. He had technically never done anything wrong. Always a gentleman, always polite, always oh-so-willing to sacrifice himself for his friends. Sometimes it seemed that Barnes had decided that he wasnât supposed to be alive at this point anyway so he might as well rescue others no matter the cost.
âWant some coffee?â Barnes asked when you trudged into the kitchen of the Stark Tower early in the morning.
Unfortunately, Barnes was always the first one up and ready, so whenever you felt motivated to go for a run or workout early in the morning, this good motivation was instantly killed off by Barnesâ presence. âUgh, no, fuck off,â you groaned.
âGood morning to you too,â said Barnes without a care, pouring some coffee into one cup for himself.
You rolled your eyes, fetching some cereal and milk and thudding down on a high chair at the bar. To your absolute dismay, Barnes joined you at the bar. You stared at him. âWhat the fuck?â
Barnes raised his eyebrows at you. âDidnât realize you own this place. Last time I checked Iâm free to sit wherever I want.â
You put up your ultimate bitch face. âFine, dickwad. Just donât talk to me. Donât even look at me.â
For some reason, it pissed you off possibly even more that Barnes never seemed to care about your blatant verbal aggression toward him. He simply slightly shook his head and took a sip of hot steaming coffee, which admittedly smelled really good. He twirled his cup in his hands, looking relaxed in his grey sweatpants and over-sized white sweater.
Cute, you thought quickly, but you soon pushed that thought very far back in your mind. You finished your breakfast as fast as you could, in absolute silence. Barnes didnât look at you once nor did he seem to feel the need to start a conversation. In a sense that you despised, breakfast was actually quite peaceful like this. When you were done, you got up to place your used stuff in the dishwasher.Â
âI can clean up,â Barnes offered, âso you can go on your run.â
You narrowed your eyes and stared at the man with as much hatred as you could gather, violently placing your bowl in the dishwasher and practically throwing the spoon in its holder. Without saying another word, you marched out of the kitchen, where you bounced into Tony. âOh, good morning, Tony!â you said cheerfully, pressing a kiss on the manâs cheek.Â
âMorninâ, lovely,â was Tonyâs response. He was wiping some sleep out of his eyes, clearly having had a long night. You didnât quite know what project he was currently working on, but it was fair to say it was robbing him of his sleep. âYouâre up early,â he commented. Â
You nodded, ponytail swinging. âFelt good today. Am going for a run.â
âAlright, love. Have fun.âÂ
âThanks, thanks. Maybe after I could help you with your project, if you got anything to do for me?â
Tony scratched the scruff on his chin, suppressing a yawn. âYeah, I might have some things for you to look at later. Thanks for offering. Now go run, kid.â You grinned when he sent a wink in your direction.Â
Barnes spoke up from the bar, âHave fun, Y/N.â
In reaction to him, you simply raised your middle finger and strolled out of sight.Â
Running had always simultaneously been your most favorite and least favorite activity. You loathed it because it was often boring, leaving you alone with your thoughts which soon turned into a mentally challenging exercise. You loved it because whenever you felt anxious, you could just run as fast as your legs could carry you and sweat all the anxiety out. Samâs explanation for this had been that when humans get stressed, their fight or flight reaction gets triggered, because in the good old days stressors were things like wolves. After being confronted with the wolf, you would either be safe or dead, but not anxious. With the stressors of the current society, you canât run away or fight, leaving you with an uneasy feeling. But running, sometimes, helped you get rid of that feeling.
On top of that, it was a wonderful morning. Not too hot, not too cold, not a cloud to be spotted in the bright blue sky. The nice smell of fresh bread oozing from the bakeries as birds awoke and fluttered through the air. Despite having had breakfast with Barnes, it was a good morning. And it felt like today might be a good day.Â
You returned to the Stark Tower an hour or so later, when you presumed most of the Avengers had woken up. You happily greeted Elena the receptionist and said hello to some of the security guards, waving cheerfully at James from Human Resources through the glass walls of his department. After a quick stop to send your best wishes at the Youth Centers Tony had set up for children and teenagers in need of books or an internet connection or any form of help, you made your way up to the Avengers headquarters.Â
Needless to say, you were relieved to find Barnesâ seat empty.Â
âY/N!â you were welcomed enthusiastically by Steve, who waved you over to the couch in the living room. All the glass walls, which according to Tony emphasized openness and honesty among the Avengers, made it easy to see whenever someone entered. You made your way over to Steve, moving past Wanda who used some of her red flaring magic to pull you closer to her so she could plant a kiss on the top of your head. Wanda spent most of her time using her magic to fly around the kitchen and living room, simply to annoy the other Avengers that they couldnât fly. Thor had once started the argument that he could, in fact, fly, but when Wanda had dared to do so without the help of his hammer, his big mouth soon vanished.Â
Having arrived at the couch, you let yourself fall down, sprawling your legs over Steveâs lap and letting your head rest on Samâs knees. âWhatâs up, losers?â you smiled.Â
âEw, you stink,â Sam coughed exaggeratedly. He faked trying to push you away from him. âTake a shower before you come poison us!âÂ
âSteve asked me to come here!â you argued.Â
Steve grinned and patted your shins. âThat was before I realized what a sweaty human being you were. Disgusting, Y/N, reallyâanyway, the reason I asked you over here is because I kind of need you to do me a favor.â
You instantly became suspicious. âOh no. What?â
âWell, remember that nice new girl that is working for James in Human Resources now?â Steve started with a nervous laugh.Â
You shot up straight and gently hit Steve against his chest. âYou didnât!âÂ
Steve was laughing, âI did, I did. I asked her out on a date. Weâre going out tonight.âÂ
âNo way!â you exclaimed excitedly, throwing yourself at the man to hug him. âIâm so happy for you! Lucie is so nice, Steve! The two of you would make such a lovely couple!âÂ
âAlright, calm down there,â Steve lifted you up from him, smiling widely. âThank you very much for introducing us, though. I owe you one.âÂ
âThis is going to be amazing, Steve, Iââ you realized suddenly that Steve had started out this conversation stating that he was going to ask for a favor. âRight. Iâm very happy for you, but what do you want from me then?â
âWell,â Steve cleared his throat. âWhen I was asking Lucie out for a date tonight, I might have accidentally, you know, in the heat of the moment, I was very nervous, I might have said that it was going to be a double date... Um, to make it less awkward.âÂ
You stared at him. âTo make it less awkward? To make it less awkward you thought itâd be a good idea to invite me?â
Steve put up a broad smile. âYes?â
You grabbed a pillow and threw it into Captain Americaâs stupid face. âWHY?â you exclaimed incredulously.Â
âBecause she knows you and she likes you!â Steve defended himself, raising his arms to stop to downfall of more pillows on top of his head. âAnd somewhere in my rambling I thought it was easier to a group activity than it just being the two of us--â
You emphasized every word with a hit, âyou â are â so â dumb!âÂ
âThatâs not even all Iâ damn,â Steve laughed, fighting back to steal the last pillow away from you. He put up his puppy eyes. âPlease tell me youâll come with me. Please. I really like Lucie and I need your help.âÂ
Raising one brow, you marvelled at how Steve was usually such a strategic leader out in the field and yet here he had turned into a begging boy, nervous because he liked a girl. You shortly remembered how Steve hadnât always been this good-looking and still had a sense of insecurity when it came to his looks and getting girls. âMy god. Okay. But that means you owe me twice, Steve.âÂ
Steve attacked you with a hug. âThank you, thank you, thank you.âÂ
âGosh,â you tapped out on Steveâs back, unable to breathe with him on top of you. When he let you go, he looked so relieved you decided it might actually be worth it to help him out this way. âRight then. Where do I have to be?â
âDown at the reception, at 7? Iâll choose the restaurant and everything. Itâs going to be fancy. Thatâs a warning.âÂ
You glared. âWhy do you say that like I am incapable of looking fancy?â
Behind you, Sam barked out a laugh. âBecause, sweetheart, you are absolutely gorgeous, but it is an odd day to see you wear anything other than gym clothes. Look at what youâre wearing right now.âÂ
You scoffed indignantly. âI just came back from a run!âÂ
Sam and Steve continued teasing you and making you laugh until you decided that it presumably was time to go for a shower. After cleaning yourself up you stepped into an old pair of jeans and shirt to join Tony in the basement to see if you could help the exhausted man out.Â
You found Tony lying beneath an old car, sparks flying out of underneath the vehicle as machines were whirring loudly. You kicked Tonyâs feet. âOi!â
The man startled and bumped his head against the car. âJesus!â he cursed, before rolling from underneath the vehicle to face you. âFor fuckâs sake, can you make an entrance like a normal human being for a change?â
âNot really,â you smiled while fetching an iced pack from the fridge and tossing it in Tonyâs direction. âYou know me. Such a diva. Always the centre of attention.â
Tony grumbled some inaudible cursing words as he pressed the iced pack onto his forehead. âNot a bigger diva than me, youâre not. Youâre too comfortable is what Iâll give you. You feel like you can be your most annoying self with the Avengers.â
You raised one eyebrow. âAnd can I?â
Tony shrugged. In a short burst of honesty, he said: âOf course. We all love you. Would be lost without you.â With similar ease, he barked at you:Â âNow will you help me out and fuck off out of my sight?â He proceeded to explain what you could do in order to help out with a small piece of his project. You were no expert in engineering like Tony, but he had taught you a fair amount over the years. Even though you werenât gifted like Peter, you were a fast learner and possessed the power of common knowledge and google.Â
Peter wasnât present in Tonyâs basement that morning, even though it was generally his favourite place to be. Tony didnât tolerate many people in his basement, as his usual working vibes included loud AC/DC music, an excessive amount of coffee, red bull and alcohol, and as few living things to bother him as possible. You and Peter were the only Avengers that were allowed to come and go as you pleased.Â
As soon as Tony had finished his instructions, he turned up the volume of his music and vanished back underneath his car.Â
You twirled some tools in your hand and made your way to the back of the basement, where you wouldnât be in Tonyâs line of sight. As you moved around a high stack of apparatus to reach a free desk, you found the one person sitting there that you didnât want to see.Â
âWhat the fuck are you doing here, Barnes?â you called out.Â
Barnes didnât even look up. Massive noise-cancelling headphones rested atop his head, seemingly so to avoid going insane thanks to an overload of AC/DC. He was wearing a simple white shirt; his back somewhat sweaty and muscles tensed as he tinkered on the machinery before him. His black hair was bundled up in a small knot in his neck. His metal arm operated smoothly, all his movements perfectly under control.Â
You gawked at the man for a while. Probably a little longer than was socially acceptable. Likely a lot longer than was socially acceptable.Â
There were many negative things you thought about Bucky Barnes, but you couldnât fault him on his looks. The man was extremely good-looking and fit, and no one could deny that.Â
But then you remembered his personality and instantly felt annoyance bubbling up in your chest. God, he was infuriating. You picked up some nails from a desk and tossed them softly against Barnesâ back to catch his attention.Â
The man shot up straight, struggling his headphones from his head and face up to you. The temporary panic flaring in his blue eyes, the way his hands clenched to fists... Then he recognized who you were and his posture relaxed, the fear flying out of his expression.Â
He breathed out. âHey.â
Suddenly you were very aware of how you were looking. Messy bun on the top of your head, over-sized sweater that did not accentuate your shape, and small jogging pants that barely covered your butt. Compared to how good Bares was looking while engineering, you felt kind of insignificant.Â
But Barnes didnât look at you like you were insignificant. There was a sparkle in his eyes that you couldnât quite place. âYou...â he seemed to have lost his tongue. âUm, you look...â
You pushed your insecurity away and felt rather annoyed with yourself that you allowed this man to throw you off guard. âI look what?â
âGood,â Barnes blurted out. âYou look... You look good.âÂ
Staring at him, you squinted. You were feeling all kinds of feelings, which infuriated you, and you reacted to Barnes the way you wanted to react to your feelings. âFuck off. What are you doing here anyway?âÂ
Barnes was blinking. âOh, um, my arm has been malfunctioning a little lately. Stark wanted to fix it for me, but I figured it was about time to learn how to do it myself. So thatâs what Iâve been trying to do.âÂ
âCan you do it somewhere else?â you demanded rudely.Â
âNot really,â Barnes replied, unphased. âI think I need this...â He gestured toward the fiery machinery he had been working with. He proceeded to vaguely repeat the instructions Tony had given him to create a tiny chip that would solve the issues of his metal arm. Within about two seconds of hearing Barnes speak about his unfortunate invention, you realized that he had no idea what he was talking about.Â
You sighed tiredly. âYou are the dumbest person I have ever met. I canât even. Move out the way. Iâll do it.âÂ
Barnes opened his mouth, presumably to protest, but you pushed him out of the way before he could make a noise. Remembering that Barnes had started out willing to do this on his own, you started explaining every little thing you did, including your entire thought process. Barnes listened intently to every word you said, letting out small âohâs and âahâs when he noted where he had gone wrong. It took hours and hours to finish Barnesâ issue, but both of you were patient and focused and time flew as you worked together. As soon as Barnes got the hang of it, you trusted him with the slightly smaller tasks as you multi-tasked and worked on Tonyâs project as well. Tony showed up with sandwiches for the three of you at a certain point of time before vanishing under his car again. Barnes set you cups of coffee so that the two of you could continue tinkering with focus.
When Barnesâ new arm was completely finished, you helped attach the thing to his shoulder. He looked extremely uneasy but didnât let out a single noise of complaint. Once it stuck, he closed his eyes to concentrate and got his fingers to move, explaining it was always a little weird to have this extension of his body. He commented it felt like a good arm, though, and within minutes he was using it as if he had used it his whole life. Somewhat exhausted, the two of you ended up sitting next to each other with your feet up the desk, silent and staring at Barnesâ old arm. It was quite peaceful. A satisfying silence, somehow.
âAlright.â You placed your hands flat on the table and got up. Barnesâ gaze followed your every move. âIâm done,â you grunted, wiping some concentration sweat from your forehead. âCanât believe I spent so much time on your dumb ass.â
Barnes leaned back in his chair with a smile, studying you as you shook your hair out. His hands were folded in his lap. âThank you so much. I couldnât have done this without you.â
âI know,â you confirmed with a nod. âYou couldnât have. And thatâs because you grew up without having electricity. And youâre old.â
Barnesâ face cracked open in a wide grin. âCanât argue with that. Youâre a lot smarter than me anyway, even if I had been born in the same time as you.â
You narrowed your eyes, not trusting these compliments. How was Barnes still nice to you after all the shit you gave him? âAbsolutely.â
The man continued smiling, looking straight at you, happy. You didnât know what to do with yourself or where to hold your hands, his warmth radiating. You cleared your throat. âWhat time is it anyway?â
Barnes checked his watch. âEleven past six.â
You blinked. âIn the evening?â
âYeah.â
âShit,â you cursed, remembering your promise to Steve to join him for a dinner to make his date with his crush Lucie less awkward, âI have a thing. I have to go.â
Barnes moved up from his chair. âYeah, Y/N, I thinkââ
âFor fuckâs sake, why did I spend so much time with your today?â you busted out, rapidly gathering your things. âGlad I really have to go so I donât have to waste another minute with you. Have a horrible evening, Barnes!â
âY/Nââ Bucky tried to say, but before he could finish his sentence, you ran out of Tonyâs lab. You checked your outfit and realized you were still in short jogging pants and a large sweaterâafter Samâs comment of you never looking fancy, you could impossibly show up to the dinner dressed like this. You wanted to prove Sam and Steve wrong and dress up like how you had never dressed up before. And there were two people you knew to be perfect for this job. Therefore, as you were running through the Stark Tower, you texted your two best friends with a code red. And when you finally made it to your own room, you expected nothing less than to find Nat and Wanda waiting impatiently for you on your bed.
Wanda leaped up, looking worried. âWhat is code red?â
You let all your engineering stuff fall on the floor. âIâm going out for dinner tonight at 7. Itâs supposed to be fancy.â
Both Wanda and Natâs facial expression went from indignance that you were not dying, to absolute excitement. âDoes this mean what I think it means?â Nat breathed out. âAre you going to let us dress you up?â
You rolled your eyes. âYes. Donât be too girly about it.â
But both Wanda and Nat were already squealing like the girliest girls in the world, more than exhilarated that they got to have their girly moments in their lives filled with heavy tasks of being an Avenger. âIâm getting my stuff!â Wanda squeaked, vanishing from the room with a red flash. Nat threw her hands up in the air. âDresses!â she yelled, and ran out of the room as well. Both of them returned within no time, arms filled with make-up and clothes and a bunch of stuff floating behind them thanks to Wandaâs red magic. âI just realized we only have half an hour!â Wanda was screaming. Nat pushed you, âWash yourself! Hurry!â
They granted you one minute of showering before pulling you out, throwing a sexy pair of lingerie to you (âYou never know where the night goes!â) and then setting you on the bed. Nat held up several outfits for you to judge while Wanda got to work on your make-up and did your hair. Nat selected a little red dress for you that wouldnât be too revealing. When you put it on, it hugged the curves of your body nicely and made you look way hotter than you thought you actually were. Wanda had finished your face, hair and eyes, with only lips to go, when Nat started yelling: âItâs seven oâclock!â. âLIPSTICK!â Wanda shouted back, which resulted in Nat tossing a deep dark-red lipstick at Wanda and her smearing it somehow perfectly on your lips. They rushed you up in front of the mirror. You were absolutely confused, having gone through the most stressful getting-ready process ever. But when you looked into the mirror, your jaw dropped.
âI look fucking stunning, babes.â
Wanda and Nat cheered. âYes, you do!â
They showered you with compliments as they led you downstairs to the reception, moving slowly on your heels, despite the time being way past seven. You felt powerful and beautiful, ready to confuse the hell out of Steve and make it a wonderful, hopefully not-so-awkward night. Strolling down the last set of stairs, you spotted Lucie and Steve standing arm in arm. Lucie was wearing an extremely cute, long, dark-blue dress while Steve was dressed up in suit and tie. Once Steveâs eyes fell on you, he choked on his own saliva and his eyes popped out of his skull. âHot damn, girl!â he called out.
You laughed, throwing your hair back in your neck. âWho says I canât look fancy, eh?â Wanda and Nat had left you to get to the reception on your own, though you could still hear them whooping and whispering compliments behind you. You cut around the corner, finally having arrived at the reception of the Stark Tower, perhaps a little past seven, but fully dressed in a fancy outfit. And then you saw that it wasnât just Steve that had dressed up in suit and tie.
Bucky Barnes was dressed up as well, looking immaculate. His face clean, beard and hair well groomed, smelling fresh and sweet, in a pristine suit that made him look even more handsome than usual.
It was the second time today you found him in a place where he wasnât supposed to be. It was also the second time today you stood gawking at how gorgeous this man was.
Barnes was looking at you with his eyes wide, a flicker shining that you couldnât quite explain. His lips parted as he looked over your appearance, but he couldnât quite seem to find his tongue.
Your cocky expression had faded, but you did find your tongue. âThe fuck are you doing here?â
Steve immediately came in between the two of you. âItâs a double date, Y/N. I told you this, right?â
You tore your eyes away from Barnes to stare furiously at Steve. âYou most certainly did not, Rogers.â
âWell, it is,â Steve forced a smile. He proceeded to wrap his arm around Lucie, who stood nervously eying the situation. âAnd we are very excited to go on the double date, arenât we, Lucie?â
Lucie nodded, eyes big. âYes. You, um, look really beautiful, Y/N.â
Lucie was so very obviously shitting herself that you felt bad for her. You sighed. It mustnât be an easy position for her, ending up going on a double date with three well-known Avengers. Even though you talked to her all the time and you would consider yourselves somewhat friends, at the very least good acquaintances, it made sense she was still nervous. Were you really going to make this even more nerve-wrecking and miserable for her? Were you that much of a bitch, that just to get across your hatred for Barnes, you would ruin the night from Lucie and Steve?
You took a deep breath. âYou look beautiful as well, Lucie.â You eyed Barnes, realizing you were now officially on a date with him. âLetâs go.â
stud.hui.o fanatic
hello!! i see that your requests are open so,,, could i request a non-romantic gender-neutral reader & hui scenario where the reader brings food to the studio late at night and convinces hui to eat and get some rest bc everyone is worried abt him? maybe with some platonic hand-holding.........? thank u so much đ
Hui (Hwitaek) x (gender neutral) Reader - platonic fluff:D | 2.1k words
synopsis: late night phone calls werenât uncommon when youâre lee hwitaekâs best friend, because more often than not, the man is sucked into the void known as his studio, and itâs your responsibility to drag him out of there.
a/n: hey there anon!! gosh when i say that i loved this prompt i really do mean it, so i hope that you enjoy this fic and that itâs what you were looking for:) apologies for the multitude of italicized words they just felt necessary.
=====
Your phone had to buzz endlessly for a second time to bring you to your senses. It was far too early in the morning for a phone call, and typically, you wouldâve just ignored it and gone back to bed. But when you read the caller ID, you begrudgingly hit the answer button.
âWooseok?â His name came out slurred as you tried to rub the sleep out of your eyes. âWhatâs up? Everything okay?â
âHi y/n, sorry to call you at this time, but Huiâs been in the studio literally all day, plus for like, half of yesterday, and we canât get him to go home and rest. Practice ended like an hour ago, but heâs still in there.â His reply came out in a tired rush, and his voice was hushed as if he was trying to hide from someone. That someone probably being Hwitaek himself.
You caught onto what Wooseok was asking of you. This wasnât the first time you had to drag him out of the studio. Being his best friend had many perks, way more perks that outweighed the few downsides that came along with it, and one of them was that you now carried the responsibility of kicking some sense into his overworking butt when he fell into this overloaded phase.
âIâll be there in 20 minutes.â You answered without asking for any more details and bid your brief goodbyes before hanging up. Then, you got changed into some comfier clothes to match the chillier weather outside and grabbed your car keys.
It was late, and the only restaurant still open on your way to the studio was a small shop next to a karaoke bar, and you stopped by to pick up some fried rice. It wasnât the most exciting meal out there, but for a 2am dinner run â or rather, breakfast-lunch-dinner run, if you were Hwitaek â it seemed pretty fitting.
When you arrived at the building and made your way to the studio floor, you saw the tall boy sitting on one of the benches in the hallways. He was hunched over, scrolling mindlessly on his phone and you could tell he was trying his hardest to stay awake for his leaderâs sake.
You said a soft greeting as you approached him and he sent you a smile before letting a worried expression wash over him again. The door to the studio slightly ajar and Wooseok gestured for you to take a peek into the small gap, placing a warm hand on your back as he stood behind you.
âJust look at him.â He whispered, and you stared at your best friend working away on his computer, seemingly without any breaks to even think about what to do next. He simply clicked a few times, played something, shook his head, and then repeated the process all over again.
You turned back to Wooseok and began ushering him away from the door. âIâll take care of this. Iâm also guessing he hasnât eaten muchââ He nodded in agreement when you said that. ââso I brought some food with me. Go home and get some rest, I know youâre tired, just tell the others that Iâll bring him home... eventually.â You smiled reassuringly, but had to add in that âeventuallyâ because deep down, you knew how just stubborn Hwitaek could be, and getting him out of the studio was a hefty task. Add in the upcoming planned promotions, then you get an even more stubborn version of him to work with â one that doesnât understand the boundaries between work and self care.
Wooseok nodded slowly and your heart melted at the exhausted expression on his face. Theyâve all been working so hard recently, heck, their packed schedules were a constant these days, and you could sense that it was taking a toll on them. Though no matter how tired they were, they always made sure to look out for each other, and you wanted to do your best to help ease at least some of the stress off the group. With a little more convincing, you finally got Wooseok to leave, giving him a hug before he did, and then you turned towards the task at hand. Even though the door was already opened, you knocked once to grab Hwitaekâs attention.
No answer.
You knocked again, this time calling out his name a couple times.
When he still didnât answer, you gently opened the door all the way and let out a sigh when you fully took in his appearance.
âHey, Hui.â
Still no answer.
You walked closer to him and leaned over to get a better look at his face. His eyes looked like they were seconds away from slumber, and his head rested on his hand like a makeshift pillow. âHui? Hwitaek? Hui? Pentagon of Leader? Huiiiiiii?â
You placed the takeout gently next to his keyboard and then slowly nudged it so that it touched his arms resting on the table. When he didnât respond to that either â and opted to mess around with the dynamics of the percussion in his composition instead â you stood straight up and let out a huff.
âLee Hwitaek!â You called boldly and for the first time that day, he took notice of your presence.
âOh, hey y/n. Could you check if this sounds okay?â He greeted you nonchalantly as if you hadnât travelled all this way in the middle of the night to see him, and proceeded to play an excerpt of what he had splayed out on the screen. You stood there speechless until the music finished blasting from the speakers and then just stared at his expectant face.
âHui you need to snap out of it! I know this comeback means a lot to you and you want to get the work done but you canât do it like this.â You told him exasperatedly.
âWhat do you mean I canât do it like this? Iâve always been doing it like this, and it works every time.â He defended, and he replayed the section for you to hear, but you still refused to pay attention to it.
âYou do this every time only to have one of us literally drag you out of the studio! And then you face the consequences days later âcause your bodyâs exhausted, your mindâs exhausted â donât you think youâll work better if you were refreshed?â You moved his hand away from the mouse when he tried to go back to work and ignore you.
âI just have a little bit left to do and Iâll finish up soon, I promise.â He muttered. It was almost as if he was entranced by the idea of never ending work hours, and Lee Hwitaek was being sucked into the void of his monitor right before your eyes.
âIâll finish it up soon, my ass. Weâve been best friends for what? 12 years now? I know youâre lying when you say that, and I know that youâll be sick by the time you âfinishâ this and then youâll regret it later. Itâs the same cycle over and over again and you need to stop, please Iâm begging you, weâve been through this so many times already.â You tried to calm yourself down. Getting frustrated over his stubbornness wasnât going to do any good, if anything, itâll only make the problem worse. He finally gave you his full attention when he noticed that you took a deep breath to collect yourself. Taking a deep breath has always been a sign that you meant business.
And yet he still replied to you blatantly. âIf I donât finish it up all at once, Iâm going to forget about it later.â
You rubbed your forehead, trying to get rid of the annoyance that was building up within you. âAnd then youâre going to finish that part, only to think of another idea to work on right after that. Like I said, itâs a cycle and you need to realize that. Please, Iâll give you 30 minutes to finish what youâre doing and write your notes down, and then weâre going to take a walk, no matter what you say.â
He nodded at your firm tone and quietly got back to work after muttering a small âokayâ. You spent the next 20 or so minutes watching him work, occasionally feeding him spoonfuls of the rice you brought, until he finally shut everything down and turned to you to scarf down what was left in the foam container.Â
âI didnât realize how hungry I was.â He pointed out the obvious when there was no rice left, and he stretched before getting up from his seat. You giggled when you heard his joints crack at the sudden movement.
âGeez, you really are getting old, huh? And thatâs what happens when you get stuck in sitting in this chair for more than 24 hours.â You lightly smacked his head to get some sense into him. âYou donât take care of yourself and donât realize that your body needs food.â
He rolled his eyes, giving in to your light scolding. âOkay, okay, youâre right.âÂ
âSir, I am always right.â
-----
Not too long later, you were both taking a walk outside the building, entering the quiet night life of the city.
The winter air had a chill to it and you shivered a little, taking Hwitaekâs free hand into yours. He responded by squeezing it gently.Â
Small physical affirmations like these have always got you through your friendships. As people who both relied on them as a source of comfort, itâs what allowed you to be as close as you were now. Though there were times where youâd have your disagreements â take the little argument you had earlier â holding hands especially, has always been what you used to remind yourselves that in the end, you still loved each other. That you were still best friends.
âIâm so proud of you, you know that?â You told him quietly.
He laughed. âWhat? Am I getting a pep talk now?â
Your cheeks heated at his words and you stopped walking, pulling him into a stop as well. âIâm being serious here!â
He gave you a teasing look. âI know you are, and I appreciate you always coming to take care of me. Even though Iâm not in your shoes, I do know how stubborn I can get and how frustrating it must be for you guys to watch me make the same mistakes over and over again.â He let out a sigh and scratched the back of his head. âBut some habits are hard to break, yeah?â
You let out a small hum in agreement. It was true, everyone had their own habits â some good, some bad â and while Hwitaek had a fair share of endearing habits, between you and the rest of the boys, his were also the most concerning. Youâd all rather have him stay healthy than have him work his soul away on some songs that can ultimately, only do the group so much. And getting him to realize that was a challenge, but it was a challenge you were all willing to take.
Your walk didnât have a set destination, and you crossed streets and changed directions on a whim, adding more thrill to your little adventure. At one point, you even stopped at one of the convenience stores still open so that he could buy himself a drink. Which ended up simply being a carton of milk after you insisted that no, coffee at 3 am is not going to help him rest at all. You allowed him to at least get chocolate milk though. And you spent your time talking about anything unrelated to his work, sharing stories that youâve missed during your time apart.
The two of you pretended like it wasnât the middle of the night and that you werenât freezing in the cold because neither of you were responsible enough to have prepared layers for the weather. Because so what if it was pitch dark and the only sign of life were the lonely taxis that drove by? If the only sound joining the chirps of the crickets were your laughter and you couldnât feel the tips of your ears anymore? Your best friend finally had the chance to rest and be himself once again, and youâd be there for him no matter what time of day it was. As long as you got to see his shoulders relax a little and his smile genuinely reach his eyes again. As long as you knew that heâd listen to you, as his best friend, and that heâd let you take care of him when you needed to. It didnât matter how often that had to happen.
When you turned the corner back to the entrance of the entertainment building, you looked at Hwitaek and nodded your head towards the floors upon floors towering above. âYou wanna go back to the studio and work for a little while longer to let me hear what youâve got so far?â
Getting him to take a break was already a miracle, and as much as you wished he would at least spend the night resting, you felt bad for dragging him out like this. You understood that he probably worked best if he was allowed to follow his train of thoughts without disruption, as bad as that habit was.
Thinking that he would agree to your offer, you were already making your way towards the entrance. But to your surprise, he grabbed your wrist to stop you and instead gave you a relaxed smile.
âNah.â He pulled you closer to him and slung an arm around your shoulder, leaning into it a little bit. His body was pleasantly warm against yours.
âLetâs just go home, work can wait.â
Dragon Raja IV - Chapters 11 & 12 (Abridged)
Hi everyone!
Today's chapters are a little slower than the previous ones, but they have a lot of insight on Nono, Luminous and the nature of their relationship. I also kept more of the original dialog for the same reason.
BTW, this is the point where the illustrations suddenly stopped for some reason so... No more drawings :P
Previous chapters.
Chapter 11
A girl waited in the top lobby of the Black Prince International Financial Center. At 21 years old, Tu Xiaojiao was already known as the "Sophie Marceau of China". She was in that building to meet the legendary "Master Shao", the inheritor of this powerful organization. If anyone else in the world made Miss Tu wait for more than half an hour, she would leave the place immediately, but Mr. Shao was different, he could offer her the role of her life, so she decided to stay in the waiting room.
When the receptionist finally allowed her to enter Shao's office, she found him next to the window, reading a poem out loud. She had to wait for him to finish for fifteen minutes, her high heels started making her feet feel numb, wondering if he was mocking her, Shao didn't even notice her presence. To her dismay, once he finally saw her in his office, it didn't make much of a difference, since Shao only had one topic in his mind, his adored senior was back.
Miss Tu tried to be polite, and asked to know more about this "senior" girl. When Shao was younger, he had a girlfriend, she was actually one year younger than him, but she demanded to be referred as his senior and he obsessed over her for the rest of his life. He even showed miss Xiaojiao a picture of himself and his senior back when they were a couple. Tu Xiaojiao was confused, in the tiny photograph, there were two children, one looked like Shao and by his side, there was a girl who seemed completely indifferent towards him. This was cut from a kindergarten group photo, and he carried it in his wallet ever since.
Shao had everything at his disposal since he was born, his focus in the entertainment industry was nothing but a hobby. He could visit any place that he wanted, he could buy any piece of clothing and of course, he could date some of the most beautiful women in the world. But he didn't want any of them as his wife. The woman of his life had to be someone who would make him beg for her affection, someone who would make him kneel in her presence. The only woman who could make that to him, was Chen Motong.
Every time that Miss Chen came back to the country, he felt like a five year old all over again, but getting her heart wouldn't be an easy task. She acted cold and demanding, when she arrived he asked her out for dinner but she just wanted to borrow a car from him and left. He heard about an Italian man, apparently her boyfriend and he couldn't learn anything else about him, it was driving him crazy, but he received some information that brought some hope back into his eyes. Miss Chen had a friend in town, and he was in the hospital. Shao left his office with Miss Tu in it, on his way to meet Mr Luminous.
Young Lu was also disheartened because of Nono, although, his reasons were different. His 91st attempt to save her also ended in failure. When he realized that they were once again going to die, Nono desperately tried to make him react, but he lazily waited in the car seat for the whole scenario to restart, frustrated and annoyed, as the gravity of the situation slowly became less palpable. He looked to his side and saw Nono's face looking at him. Her expression was as ruthless as ever but in her eyes he saw deep sadness, he almost felt like hugging her before they died but the simulation ended. To him, death meant that he would have to start all over again, but for Nono, every single time it meant a genuine end.
To interrupt his depression, a young, short, overweight man entered his room. He called himself a friend of Miss Chen and Luminous thought for a second that she sent him there to get him out of the hospital, but Shao was there to speak.
He started making questions, in particular, who was this Italian scumbag that he heard about? Tragically for him, Luminous spoke highly of Caesar's fortune, personality and actions, and to make matters worse, he wasn't only Chen's boyfriend, but her fiancé.
A depressed Shao proceeded to tell an anecdote from his childhood. When he was studying in the United Kingdom, Shao felt belittled next to ehe aristocratic children that studied with him, so he started bragging about his own family's wealth and promising other kids money for listening to him, when he tried to show off in front of Nono, she beat him up and told him to call her "Senior Sister".
The school's Rugby matches also got violent, Shao played aggressively, so the other kids retaliated against his attitude by deliberately kicking him in the face and hitting him with the ball. His front teeth got broken as there was no coach present to stop them. He sat down on the grass, defeated, when Nono took his place in the match, she fearlessly rushed into a defense of fifteen boys while Shao swore to his heart that one day he would marry that girl, even if he had to kneel and crawl in front of her.
Shao compared himself to the protagonist form "The Great Gatsby", who desperately needed to be with his love interest, Miss Daisy.
-Why should a girl be with a man who needs her?
She should be with a man she needs. My senior sister doesn't need me, I am the one who needs her.
Before Shao left, Luminous reminded him of a scene in "Journey to the West" where Tang Sanzang found a silly monkey who lived behind a waterfall. The cowardly monkey recognized Tang's strength and left his hidden home to follow him around the world. There are two types of monkeys in the world, the smart ones that can survive out there on their own, and the silly ones, who need a master they look up to.
Shao understood his metaphor and he felt encouraged. Realizing he could trust the strange mental patient enough to untie one of his hands, Shao gave Luminous a can of beer and they toasted. When Shao left, Luminous took a syringe from the side table and injected himself with more sedatives. This was his 92nd attempt.
Shao returned to his office, motivated and lively.
-I met a new brother today!
He encouraged me to come back here, he's a philosopher and his words are very touching!
People living in mental hospitals are all experts in this kind of stuff.
He realized that he left without saying goodbye to Miss Tu, but his apology wasn't answered, because the girl in his office was Nono. She was drinking, looking tired, she didn't wear any makeup and silently stared at the window.
Shao was determined to win her over, but Nono answered most of his questions briefly and coldly. She didn't want to speak with him, she was just there to return the car keys and now she wanted to leave.
Shao's pitiful voice tone softened her attitude a little so she asked him for some gin with ice. Nono drank the whole glass in one sip and asked for a refill. She had another glass, and another.
- Senior sister, is someone bullying you?
- Who could possibly bully me?
- Usually no one, but aren't you engaged now?
- Caesar wouldn't do that, don't worry about it, just take care of yourself.
- Are you really going to marry an Italian? Those guys spend their money so recklessly!
- Could you give me a better reason not to marry him? Who are you to say those things? Stop messing around and just confess your intentions.
- I'm your boyfriend from kindergarten! If you gave me a chance instead I could be endlessly more confident and...
- You? "Endless"? Nono was so angry that she laughed.
Shao Kneeled and asked Nono to be his girlfriend instead. He kneeled in one knee, so she asked him to kneel on both like he used to, and he did, but not for begging, he used to do so as punishment. Nono didn't like his subservient attitude.
- We were just classmates, I was wrong to treat you so hardly, but you don't have to hold on to me, I am engaged and you could marry just anyone.
Shao kept begging, Nono deflected every single one of his arguments until he recited Luminous's "Journey to the west" reference. His delivery was incredible, but she had no reaction to it, she looked at her glass with tired eyes. She got up on her feet and entered the elevator.
After she left, Shao was avidly celebrating, he interpreted her reaction as progress and showed off in front of his employees.
Nono stopped at a small ramen restaurant to warm up her rain-soaked body. Chu Tianjiao was her last clue and she lost it. If Luminous was actually sick, why didn't she give up on him yet?
Why did she feel the need to insist on his case? This wasn't only about her, every moment she spent in the middle of nowhere, escaping from the secret party, she got Caesar in trouble. How was she supposed to explain this to them?
She had to admit that she cared too much about Luminous's well-being. She wouldn't doubt to give him her diving suit, she immediately called him last year when she and Caesar were overwhelmed by Scythe ferrets to warn him of the impending danger and now that the whole world was against him, she kept insisting on proving his sanity. Regarding his feelings for her, she comforted herself with positive thoughts. Who didn't have a crush on a senior girl at some point in his life?
Zero was great for him, so was Isabelle, if she had known Erii in person, Nono would have considered them to be "such a fucking perfect match".
Over the last few years, this petty boy had grown up, he became more energetic, better dressed and gained so much experience, yet he kept holding on to her. She left Shao's office without saying a word because she recognized those words belonged to Luminous. They were about Luminous.
- Chen motong, you're such a fool, you messed everything up.
Chapter 12
An exhausted Su Xiaoyao leaned back on her office chair, she had spent a long day on work meetings and in the middle of the night her phone kept ringing. This was her life ever since she had to leave school to take over her father's business. She had gained some weight ever since but no one really cared, she was still one of the top bachelorettes in the city and she had just accepted a blind date, excited to take a break.
During the student reunion, seeing Luminous made her cry a little. It wasn't because she used to have a crush on him during their high school years, she just realized that those carefree days would never repeat themselves. Back in the day, she and the other girls used to sit on the basketball courts to see Luminous play basketball. Even the air felt different.
Su took her high heels off and put her feet on her desk to take a quick nap, but her phone interrupted her attempt to display an urgent text message. It was Liu Miaomiao, her old rival in love.
- Su Xiaoyao, find a way to get here, quick! They put our senior brother in a mental hospital!
Game level: Gungir light, 101st load.
- So, where did you get that rocket launcher again?
- I found it under the seat...
The whole fight seemed extremely rehearsed by now, Luminous always knew exactly where to shoot, it almost looked like he could predict the future.
- Did you learn that in your special training? I want to take that special training too!
Nono slowly became the most problematic element in the simulations, she didn't retain her memories after every attempt like he did. This was probably the first time Luminous felt something other than absolute admiration towards her, she became a little annoying, but he couldn't really blame her. They got in the car and tried to escape, but one of the tires was damaged.
- Are you hungry? I just found some nuts in this car!
He knew Nono was trying to calm him but he was still a little anxious, he repeated the steps to replace the tire in his mind but the car-wheel escaped his hands and rolled over the highway.
His tantrum surprised Nono, who dropped her snacks all over the floor. Ming·Z paused time and got out of the car.
He noticed that Luminous asked to reset his last six attempts instead of waiting for his death, he seemed far more tired than usual after his conversation with Shao, it made him reflect about his feelings for Nono to the point of getting distracted in battle.
- First of all, I'm not the only monkey that she brought out from the waterfall, second, I am the one who needs her, she doesn't need me.
- Brother, I expected you to regret going to Cassell College, you wouldn't be so sad otherwise.
- I don't regret it, if I hadn't gone to Cassell College, I wouldn't know my senior brother nor my senior sister or the boss, nor would I know Finger, the Japanese "Lonesome George" brothers... And Erii.
Luminous ignored Ming·Z's snarky remarks and got a better hold of his feelings.
- I always ran after my senior sister, I like her so much that it makes me very sad that I can't be with her. Caesar was born with everything, he could have married any girl he liked but he picked the only one I cared about.
Suddenly I realized that I'm wrong, that was just wishful thinking on my part.
There are more people for me out there, Erii liked me, but Nono was the only one I had eyes for. Nono doesn't need me, I'm the one who feels at ease when I follow her, like she'll feel relieved when she marries the boss. She wouldn't feel like that if she were with me and to pursue her is to act on my most selfish side, why did my senior brother support me?
- Your senior brother wasn't that upright, don't you think?
- Finally, are you willing to admit that he's real?
- Okay okay, Johann Chu really does exist, but there is something wrong with him and you need to get him back"
- Then I'm relieved.
Ming·Z confirmed more things, the city was closed on all exits due to the weather conditions and the Nibelungen was invading their reality on a large scale.
- Thank you, Ming·Z·Lu. Why do you call yourself Ming·Z? You deliberately used my cousin's name"
- No, my name is Ming·Z·Lu, there has always been a Ming·Z·Lu in your life and that's me, not the fat boy in your uncle's house.
Luminous went back to the car, picked the dozens of floating snacks and put them back in Nono's palm one by one.
- Sister, don't worry, you will be fine, I will definitely find a way, I changed my mind, I will attend your wedding, I'll see you in your white dress holding orange flowers, walking on a red carpet full of happiness... Maybe you should throw the bouquet in my direction.
Three girls were sobbing next to his bed when he woke up, Chen Wenwen was the first face he recognized, followed by Su Xiaoyao and Liu Miaomiao. Su was one of the most influential persons in town, so she demanded that her old classmate got released from the hospital.
They took him out on a car and decided to stop on a luxurious bar. They all felt a little insecure about what they were wearing, so Su Xiaoyao asked her driver to bring them their old school uniforms.
Sitting at the bar, after multiple drinks, the girls kept reminiscing of their old days in high school, Luminous past in this reality was the same as Johann's, including his Saxophone recitals at the cultural festivals. He used to envy Johann so much back then...
He stood up and told everyone that he was going to the bathroom, but he changed back to his normal clothes and got out of the bar. A man with a motorized tricycle was waiting for potential passengers outside and Luminous gave him his expensive watch as insurance for borrowing his small vehicle.
He drove all the way to the Number 10 highway and entered the Nibelungen again. Odin was waiting for him far away, he didn't say a word but he slowly raised his lance. Luminous turned around and left the god's prison.
Back in his old apartment, Finger had befriended Luminous's aunt and kept doing shores for her. Nono came back to the place and they argued about their course of action.
- If I had known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have rescued him from that theater.
- Feels like you stepped in bubble gum and you can't take it off.
Finger suddenly left the room and came back with the news, Luminous had left the hospital with three old classmates. Nono grabbed an umbrella and ran out. She knew the bar and she knew about Su Xiaoyao, they weren't going to be hard to find.
By the time she arrived, the three girls were arguing after Luminous left. They actually tried to blame each other, the way they admired him was surprising to Nono. Suddenly, Luminous came back and justified his absence by saying that he went to a convenience store to get something to eat.
Nono watched them from the dark, feeling really stupid, there was a strange obsession that she couldn't let go of. In fact, she should have driven away the silly monkey that pestered her long ago, the more she helped him, the more he would rely on her. This wasn't good for any of them, but she couldn't bear to refuse.
She was afraid that he would end up crying alone in the wilderness, where no one could listen to him. She hoped that one day he could become one of those smart monkeys who run around happily, but maybe this silly monkey was smart from the beginning and she was pitying someone who didn't really need her.
She strolled under the heavy rain, her clothes were soaking and stuck to her body, it was a long way back to the uncle's house but she wanted to walk alone. She felt colder and colder and for the first time in her life she missed the Golden Iris Academy. She felt like going to a ramen stand again but there were no businesses in sight, however, there was a phone booth.
One call, that's all she needed to give away her location, Caesar made her memorize an emergency number long ago, it was the right thing to do, the person she should trust the most in this situation was not Finger or Luminous, but Caesar. Dialing felt like betraying her old classmates, but she started pressing the numbers.
"No, no, no, no, no, don't be like this, don't be like this"
Subconsciously, she looked aside and saw a small boy in the rain, looking at her from the other side of the glass. What was such a young boy doing out there on his own?
He was delicate and beautiful, like a porcelain doll.
- Are you looking for me? She asked.
The expressionless face of the boy slowly got horrifyingly distorted by the raindrops on the glass. She couldn't breathe due to an overwhelming sadness, so she opened the door but the boy was not there anymore. She took the calling card out of the booth and hanged up the phone.
Rome, Italy.
Caesar was waiting in front of a phone, he was under a lot of pressure, but the moment he received Nono's call, all of his problems would be over, yet the phone was silent.
The family elders felt like Luminous had stolen something that belonged to their heir, so they suggested that he cancelled his marriage.
- No, there are only two people in this world who can dissolve that engagement, Nono and me.
To avoid being put under heavy suspicion, he had to act calm and decisive, like he did a few days ago, when he released the monsters from the ice cellar to find the fugitives. Parsi entered the room and informed Caesar about the worsening weather conditions in Beijing, this type of climate phenomenons usually signaled the awakening of powerful dragons.
Luminous, the never-existing Johann Chu, the grim reaper, it was all starting to make sense. Caesar instructed Parsi to prepare his private jet and his desert eagles, he also dissuaded Parsi from going with him. At the lionheart club, president Babru informed the former president and dragon slayer Abdullah Abbas that Caesar wanted to team up with him to hunt the dragon down.
Intrigued, Abdullah accepted and instructed everyone to get ready.
To be continued, final update on Monday.
What we become - part 6
6 months later ------------ You checked out your reflection in the mirror for the 12th time, every 10 minutes in the span of 2 hours. Steve was late today. No! Â You were NOT nervous, you just wanted to look presentable. You were a reflection of the place you worked for and you loved Asgard so it was not totally absurd you wanted to make sure you were looking good.
"The blonde boy isn't here yet, please stop wasting time in front of the mirror and take those drinks to table #6" Clint grumbled.
Him sitting in your section 5 times a week and leaving cute notes (and some hefty tips) did not go unnoticed by anyone. And no one was subtle about it. From Loki to Thor to Clint to Gamora, everyone teased you endlessly.
"Seriously, I don't know what is holding you, or him, back. Just go out on a date already" Gamora said while tipping her head towards the door.
And in walked Steve, in all his smedium t-shirt and khaki pants glory.
His eyes immediately found yours and his face split into a big grin as he made his way to a table.
Sometimes you wonder how you didn't see until now how handsome he was, but you know for a fact that your perception of beauty changes as you get to know them better. Sometimes their personality makes them more appealing while other times it's the exact opposite.
You couldn't stop the smile that spread on your lips.
You neared Steve's table "You are late today"
Steve dopey smiled back "I got stuck at an event my father organized but I slipped away as soon as I could and then there was the usual traffic"
"I have told you so many times, we have another branch of Asgard near where you live, you don't have to make the hour long drive just for some beers" You smirked.
The first time you got to know how far he lives, you were slightly confused as to why he would drive all the way. He just shrugged and smiled, saying he liked the ambience of this place better. You didn't really believe him but didn't push him either.
Now? Now you kinda knew why he drove so far. It would be stupid to pretend otherwise but you couldn't pass an opportunity to tease him.
"And I have told you, I really like the ambience " Steve was not the shy fella who couldn't meet your eyes anymore. It took a while but he slowly lost his inhibitions around you.
And you? Well, your perspective of him changed the very day he saved your life. You were so grateful to him.
But as you got to know him better, you felt a lot more for him than just thankfulness.
"So your usual then?" You took out your notepad.
"No, not today. I am already late, maybe I will take a to-go bag for some snacks. Enough for two people" Steve had this look on his face.
You were disappointed and you hoped it wasn't obvious on your face.
"Oh sure, I will bring it up right now" You internally cringed at the high pitch of your voice.
"Oh no, no rush, take your time. I know your shift doesn't end for another 30 minutes" Steve was full on smiling now.
It took a moment for you to realize what he meant and you bit your lip to keep from smiling.
"Well that's very presumptuous of you Mr. Rogers. I might have better things to do then go out on a d.., accompany you to whatever secret cult meeting you drive an hour for" Steve laughed out loud before pressing his hands to his chest.
"The Perseids Meteor shower is supposed to peak today and the sky is clear enough for a good view. It might be something fun to watch "Steve lost steam by the time he finished his sentence seeing your stern expression " it's Friday night so I thought you wouldn't have classes tomorrow and work. The best time to view is after midnight and If you are not comfortable, I understand"
You did your best to keep your laughter in at Steve's rambling but maintained your serious demeanor "We will have a few hours to kill then, do you want to watch a movie"
"I totally... what?" Steve was giving you his signature puppy dog eyes.
You finally dropped the act and grinned "I have been begging Nakia for days but she claims that no astronomical event can keep her from her beauty sleep. I am so glad you asked. It would be so much fun. We can take some drinks too. We can stop by my place and grab a picnic mat. Do we need chairs? Blan..."
"Ok doll breath" the nickname just slipped out but Steve decided to act calm"I have everything ready. We can just pack some food and we are good to go"
You did a tiny jump. "I can't wait" --------------- 12 Months later
"See, both Mr. Darcy and Lizzi are seeing things through their own corrupt lenses" you supplied hazily
The warm weather and shining sun had almost put you to sleep.
Then there was Steve's warmth that radiated from where you were leaning against him. His cologne, his soothing voice as he hummed a tune now and then and the comfort of knowing he  was there with you.
Steve and you were sitting in your favorite park. You, with your books and Steve with his sketch pad, as had become the norm for Sundays. Steve always asked you what you were reading and you always asked him what he was drawing.
Steve would show you his sketch if you would give him a summary of the book you were reading and answer his questions. You borrowed a few books from Mr. Stark's library every time you went home.
There was something about reading a physical book that you loved.
You had grabbed your all time favorite this morning while stepping out to Steve's bike.
"Usually people assume that one character had pride while the other had prejudiced views but I feel that they both had pride and their own prejudices. For instance, Lizzy knows what Mr. Darcy is saying about her family is true and on occasions, she has pointed out the same to her mother and sisters, even her father, but she is wounded when Mr. Darcy states the same. Her mind sees Mr. Darcy is a spoiled rich man with no compassion or heart" you went on, now glancing at Steve "but we should always remember, never judge a book by it's cover... or initial few pages" you stuck your tongue out at your own silliness.
Steve had this wistful smile on his face "Yeah, sometimes the first few pages cannot tell you the full story"
"That's why I read all books that I begin till the end" you all but whispered to Steve seeing how close he had come to you.
"I am so happy that you do" Steve whispered back. Just one inch, that's all you needed.
And then Steve's phone went off.
You both jerked away.
Steve took the call while you hid behind your book for the rest of the day. ---------------- 18 Months Later
"You will call me as soon as you reach" you repeated for the 5th time.
"I will, first things" Steve promised.
Steve had been enrolled in a 1 year MBA from a university in another country, as per his father's wishes. Apparently, it was a rite of passage all children in his father's circle had to go through. You were told by Nat that James, or Bucky as she called him, had been there too.
Like that was supposed to make you feel better.
Not that you could ask Steve to stay. You weren't officially dating.
You didn't know what was holding Steve or you back. Well, you knew what was holding you back. You didn't know what you would do if Steve rejected you.
You were sure he had feelings for you but you still felt that there was a wall between you two and you had solid reasons.
You had never, not once, met any of Steve's friends. Not even as a friend.
He always came to you, the area where you lived. Never the other way around.
He hadn't added you in any social media accounts he had.
There was a small part of you, which was growing everyday, that believed he was embarrassed to be seen with you. Not that Steve ever made you feel like that when you were together.
But then there was this glaring fact that he never asked you out on a proper date. It was always a plan to 'hang out'.
And that he hadn't even kissed you yet.
And now he was leaving for 12 months.
"I will miss you" Steve looked at you with such a rueful smile that you had to look away.
"Well, I will be right here. Literally, I will wait for you right here, at the airport gate, with a bunch of welcome home balloons and a six pack of your favorite. Who knows, maybe I can convince Ms.Hella to start an airport outlet and I will meet you inside, waiting with your regular order as soon as you land" you tried to lighten the mood.
"I will touch down at the airport every weekend then" Steve smiled which did not reach his eyes.
"Don't make promises you can't keep Mr. Rogers" You turned to him and smiled, having reached the security check.
Steve was hugging you the next second. Arms squeezing you tight while he murmured in your ear " I will miss you sweetheart, So much."
You took a deep breath to hold your tears in "I will miss you too".
You stood like that for a moment. You pretended not to notice the way Steve smelled your hair and planted a lingering kiss on your hair.
You both reluctantly parted.
"I will see you soon stranger" you whispered and started stepping back.
You had to let him go before you did something stupid. But ultimately, Steve beat you to it.
He grabbed your arm as you were about to turn away, jerked you forward, and planted his lips on yours.
There was nothing soft about the kiss. It was bruising. It was months of pent up frustration, attraction and tension all coming to the fore.
One of his hands was tangled in your hair while the other was like a steel band around your waist. You didn't know when your hands ended up crushing the t -shirt material around his chest. It was all tongue and teeth and desperation.
When you both came up for air, Steve looked absolutely wrecked.
He held you close and pressed 6 more quick kisses on your lips.
I *kiss* will *kiss* miss *kiss* you *kiss* so *kiss* much *kiss*
With that, he loosened his grip on your waist and hair and stepped back. Hair out of place and cheeks flushed crimson.
He let out a deep exhale and turned around, speed walking through security, not looking back once.
While you stood there, rooted to the spot for a few minutes, trying to catch your breath and quell the butterflies in your stomach, wondering what the hell just happened.
FFXIV Write Prompt #20 -Â Hypocrisy
âMust you pester me all day?â Emet-Selchâs voice sounded disdainful as he didnât even deign to open his eyes.Â
Cassiaâs voice was dry as she rolled her eyes at him. âEvidentially so,â she said. It caused him to frown before he opened his eyes after all.
âOh, it is you, It thought i was the other, noisy one.âÂ
Cassiaâs eyebrows went up as she gave him a sceptical look, not knowing whom he was referring to. âThe noisy one?â
With an aside wave of his hand he shook his head. âNo matter.â He seemed just a little bit less annoyed than before, but still not really in a mood to talk. âWhat do you want then?â
Briefly, she considered simply leaving him to his own devices but she had already talked herself up and into this and it seemed like this was as good a situation as any. âI wanted to thank you again for saving Yâshtola,â she started. âIt occurred to me that everyone was rather dismissive about it, a bit rude even in the way they showed their gratefulness.â
Emet-Selch let out a soft snort. âA bit rude? That is an oh so polite description,â he said. âBut I did not expect much more if I am honest. I could see plainly how skeptical everyone was. I have eyes, after all.â He sighed with a tired shake of his head. âWas this all you wanted?â
âI also have an answer for you,â Cassia hurried to add.
âAn answer?â he asked curiously. âNot a question for once?â
Cassia shrugged. âWell, you were asking earlier. When you were leaving the cave with the murals. And my answer is yes.â
Emet-Selch looked almost confused for a moment and Cassia sighed.
âYes, I would wish for the same.â
When it seemed to dawn on him what she was talking about his eyes narrowed. âI doubt you could even grasp the situation enough to make a comparison,â he said, his voice a bit harder than before.
Cassia clenched her hand into the skirts of her dress for a moment as she tried to reign back her own temper at his usual, infuriating, dismissal.
âWhy do you always do this?â Cassia asked, a sliver of exhaustion shining through her voice. âYou tell us we donât have all the information, and when we ask you ridicule us. And you tell us about the past, but gods beware should we try to sympathise - then we couldn't possibly understand all of a sudden.â The frustration welling up in her made every word sound a bit sharper than usual. âSo what is it that you actually want? Iâd suspect you are doing all this for some sick sense of gleeful entertainment - but that couldnât possibly be true with how much complaining you do about how boring we all are.â Her hands were on her hips now, everything about her stance issuing a clear challenge.Â
It took Emet-Selch a moment of openly confused staring before he caught himself and his usual, slightly dismissive looking expression was back. âWell, look at that. Who knew you had more in you than the polite questions after all?â
âYou could have, if youâd have bothered to answer any of them,â Cassia shot back before she shook her head. âBut youâre doing it again, just brushing it all off. I donât know why I botheredâŠâ She turned around to leave when she heard him chuckle slightly and suddenly she wasnât simply annoyed - she was furious.
âHow dare you,â she hissed, as she turned back to him abruptly. To his credit, his smile disappeared instantly, but Cassia was sick and tired of the whole charade. âHow dare you laugh at an honest attempt to show you sympathy, and in the same breath declare us the lesser beings?â In her anger, she took a step closer to him. âYou think we couldnât understand? I lost my entire world too. Nine years ago, when the calamity - that your people were responsible for - wiped it from existence, killing almost everyone I loved, everything I knew.âÂ
Cassia felt herself shaking with anger. Anger at the old pain resurfacing, anger at his blatant dismissal and anger at herself, for feeling so hurt by it. âAdriene and Lay and me, the three of us are all that is left. Are the only people in existence that still remember what it was like. We have lost everything, except each other. And you dare to stand here, all high and mighty and ancient, and tell us we couldnât possibly understand your painâŠâ She forced herself to stop and take a deep breath. When she spoke again, her voice was softer, but no less intense. âYou are a hypocrite. And if you were really that intent in making us understand, then you wouldnât throw my every attempt to do so back at my face.â
There was something in Emet-Selchâs eyes that Cassia couldn't place as he, too, took a step closer. The lines on his face were hard and somehow it almost felt like he was suddenly even taller, more imposing than before. But she stood her ground, her eyes burning with determination.Â
âThis might be the first time Iâve seen the real you and not just the polite and accommodating role youâre so fond of playing,â he said with a hint of interest in his voice. Cassia was about to snap at him again but before she could draw a deep breath he inclined his head. âI apologize,â he said simply, as if they were discussing an everyday matter. As if she hadnât just exploded at him. âYou are not wrong. What I said was certainly beneath me.â
It wasnât what she would consider a heartfelt apology, but it also was way more than she would ever have expected and Cassia felt the storm inside her simmer down again.Â
âGood,â she said simply. âThen maybe next time we can have an actual conversation.â
The corner of his mouth twitched briefly, and Cassia could see he was trying to keep a neutral look, probably to prevent himself from saying some other demeaning quip about her questions and she narrowed her eyes again.
âCome on, tell me how insignificant we are again, you look like youâre dying toâŠâ she said sharply and the sudden, sheepish look on his face made her sigh in exasperation. âYou just canât help yourself, can you? Like a creature of bad habitâŠâ
âYou try and unlearn a few lifetimes of habits over the course of one conversation,â Emet-Selch said, his raised eyebrows matching the hint of mockery in his tone. Yet Cassia had the distinct impression, that there was something almost defensive hidden underneath it.
âI wouldnât have to,â she shot back. âI haven't ever been this much of an ass in my one lifetime yet.â
As she saw his eyes flash with amusement, Cassia felt a dry chuckle rise up her throat. Briefly she wondered how she could have gone from genuine anger to what all of a sudden felt like almost playful insults in such a short time. There was something about the Ascian, as infuriating as he was most of the time, that seemed to endlessly fascinate her. And as she watched the subtle change on his face, wondering what it all meant, she noticed that she definitely wasnât alone in feeling like this about their interactions. There was something in the way he looked at her, how he subtly seemed to size her up, that felt strangely familiar.
As if he had caught himself staring, Emet-Selch suddenly cleared his throat. âNow, if you would be so kind and let me return to my nap,â he said, with another nod at the tree he had been lounging in comfortably before she had interrupted him. âAs enlightening as this talk was, I am afraid there is nothing so remarkable about you or your kind as to keep me from it.â
His voice sounded as dismissive as usual again but his eyes still lingered, and they said something decidedly different. Suddenly something clicked in Cassiaâs mind as she saw his look or what it was. A wave of surprise and amusement went through her, followed by an unsettling curiosity and the knowledge, that she was about to do something reckless again.
âLiar,â she said with a knowing smile on her face and her tone made him pause.Â
âBeg your pardon?â
âYou can keep saying how unremarkable you find me, but if I know one look on every man's face, it's the look of someone who is picturing me naked,â Cassia said, her lips curling up into a sweet smile. âYou find me interesting enough for that. Not that I blame you,â she added, before throwing his earlier words back at him, âYou have eyes, after all.â
Cassia suspected that the absolute stillness he displayed was what he did where other people - the ones with far less life-experience - would have started to splutter.Â
âMy dear,â Emet-Selch finally said as he found his voice again, âYou are certainly the most entertaining of your bunch.â He sounded almost perfectly normal, if it werenât for a slight hint of raspiness that definitely hadnât been there before. When Cassia only looked at him with raised brows he shook his head in disbelief. âAre you actually propositioning me?â he asked, not quite unable to banish the curiosity from his voice.
Cassia chuckled again, this time in genuine amusement. âI would never dare to,â she said with an overly earnest tone. âCould you even imagine? A Warrior of Light and an Ascian?â She shook her head before - for once - making the wise choice and turning to walk away again, ere the situation got more out of hand than it already was. âIâll leave you to your beauty sleep, but Iâm looking forward to our next conversation.â
As she walked away she thought she could hear him say quietly, âSo do I.â
My begging letter reply...
I opened the letter attached to the box my hands shaking the whole time,opening the folded pink paper the page coming into view I read it...
Very well done Babyslave, that was a lovely Begging Letter you wrote so
given your genuine feelings we are going to let you visit us for a long weekend
so the following dates You will choose one to serve us as our âBabyslaveâ
01/05....07/05...14/05....
Once you give us Our weekend date you Will use whatâs in this box as described With No Exceptions ! This part is Not up for negotiations, as we will
be checking that Our Toy is Obedient. You will Not be given a Safeword & will be at our Will as to how Your Training & Punishment are given (We will not harm you permanently or leave any lasting damage, other than the inevitable mental
Tormented harm that we are guessing you can pull upon later when you feel the âNeed withinâ....
Now open the box.....Babyslave !
Still reading the line over âYou will not be given a Safewordâ my mind now racing over the prospect of this type of Dominant Control, something I had always fantasised over but the thought of actually submitting to this ?
So I lifted my small knife cutting the box open.
Inside the box was a pink pvc dress with white frilly hem and at the cuffs to the arms, over the chest was a heart shaped panel surrounded by the same white frills, in this was a cartoon character of Winnie the Pooh ! Next was a large pink disposable with Fairy prints on it, pvc see through pants they also had Winnie the Pooh bear front & rear, white Mary Jane socks and pink booties, a tube of hair removal cream, a rubber ring with balls on it ? some sort of powdered drink.
Also there was two gift cards one was for a hairdresser, the other was for a natural health shop.
Now getting excited over looking at the items from the box I found myself getting excited about the prospect of serving them both, looking at the dates I found the first date was perfect as I had No plans that weekend.
So excited I messaged them my date...a reply came back ...
Thatâs perfect Babyslave..Now book both appointments for the Friday morning they are close together so allow 2hrs for both so you will be Finnished for 10am,
after done you Will message us for instructions.Take your Dress ect in a back pack with you so they are ready.
We look forward to seeing you for your Obedience Training weekend Babyslave.
The next week dragged on but finally the Thursday came at 7pm I was. Â Instructed to use the cream to remove all my hair feet to neck, the smell was not very nice but 30 mins later after a shower I stood completely void of hair !
A message came that I was to go straight to bed with No supper only my usual hot milk and honey.....in my terry Nappy & rubber pants with My pink baby doll nightie on....I was allowed to wet if I found the need but No poopies ! As usual No Cummies (It had been six weeks now with no relief Only frustration over the Pictures they sent me each day to look at teasing me endlessly at work at home they would come ..Pictures of sissy bondage Abdl art ect...
Friday morning I removed my soaking wet Nappy showered then headed with my back pack to the hairdresser.
On arrival I handed the girl my gift card âHi you must be Tinaâs friend, follow me pleaseâ the petite girl led me to a chair âSit here Carla will be with you in a momentâ as I sat nervously an older girl appeared behind me smiling âHi am Carla nice to meet youâ she put a black cover around my neck tied it on then pushed my head forward âKeep still pleaseâ I heard buzzing then felt the shaver on my head removing my hair not some of it All of it ! She shaved my head Bald then foam razor shaved it completely !..I sat stunned as she had not asked me anything just simply shaved me bald đ©âđŠČ....
âThere we go that ok for you ?â I smiled politely saying yes thank you, Carla smiled back âwould you like some softness balm ? Itâs free !â Again stammering slightly I spoke Emmâerr yes thank you...Carla put some clear oil on her hands then started massaging it into my head her finger felt so good softly massaging my Now baud head she poke again âTilt your head back for me.....(she rubbed my forehead & temples) Just a bit further back pleaseâ I forced my neck to arch back fully as she slowed the massaging even further ! It was pure heaven, then it struck me the oil was Baby Oil ! The distinct smell encircling my head invading My nostrils.
She tilted my head back up âThat we Go Babe thatâs you soft as a babyâs bottomâ I went slightly red at her comment but she removed the apron then turned the chair to allow me to get up âThanks for using us hope we will get to see you as a regular customer, you enjoy your weekendâ
With that she walked away, I went out the shop the cool air hitting my newly shaved head felt strange but nice.
As they had told me the health shop was only a few minutes away, as I entered an assistant greeting me I gave Over the voucher âThatâs lovely come this wayâ I followed her as we entered a room there was a bench with a raised bit it had a towel over it. Â A girl in a uniform came into the room âHi my name is Dee am going to give you your treatments today, have you had a colonics treatment before ?â I was totally stunned as I was under the impression I was having a mineral skin treatment not an internal treatment !
Stammering I told her no this was a first...she smiled warmly telling me it was very relaxing to have done and that I would feet great after the treatment.
She gave me a white gown then told me to just remove my clothes and lay over the raised part of the bed with my hips tummy down.
When she came back it was with a cart, lifting my gown she put a towel over my lower back, then gently patted My thighs âpull your legs up slightly & shoulder width apart pleaseâ.
This now made me feel very vulnerable & a tad embarrassed, as I thought this treatment was done on your back ? What did I know....âjust relax am going to put a tube inside you Ok ?â I nodded then felt cold lube as the tube entered me, she inflated a ballon then I felt warm fluid enter me, but not filling Me it was going back out, just a light constant pressure...In fact it felt very nice.
She told me to relax & enjoy it as the treatment took around 45 minutes then she left the room, embarrassing as it was I fell asleep ! It was just so relaxing...
Dee returned simply removing the tube and wiped me down âThatâs you I will leave you to Get dressed, just watch standing up as the treatment will make you feel light headed, did you enjoy it?â Yes Dee it was so relaxing thank you...
I got dressed lifted my backpack thanked her again & left feeling like I was floating!l
No sooner was I out the shop when I got a message âOk now walk to Mac Donalds go to the bathroom & put on your nappy, pants, dress, tights...put your clothes back on with the Top of the dress neckline showing out of the top of your Tee Shirt then walk back towards the park, we will send you directions from there...Hurry Up Babyslave Donât Keep us waiting!â
I went into the restaurant toilet stripping to put on my Baby attire! Once I was
dressed the walk to the park had me walking face down as I was sure everyone was looking at the white frilly rubber coming out of my Tee Shirt neck !
At the park a txt came âWell Done.. now go to the car park you will see a black van in the corner go to the side door face the bushes & Stand Completely Stillâ
As I walked to the van I felt myself swelling up inside the disposable Nappy ! But worse was the rubber ring with the balls around it at my scrotum was keeping the flow of blood from returning & I was now hard as a rock !! Turning to face the bushes my heart felt like it was going to burst from my chest !
The van door opened & I felt myself being pulled backwards âClose your eyes Babyslave Do Not Open them no Matter what Happens!â
As I was pulled backwards my coat was being removed then hearing the door slide shut, Â I felt my trousers Being unfastened followed by my T-shirt Being removed ! Â âClever girlie Babyslave look at youâ a hood was being pulled over my head âOpen Wide!â A Dummy was put into my mouth through the hole over my lips, this was quite large in size it felt like it was covered in small spikes ?Then I felt a head harness being pulled tightly on âNow Babyslave are you Wet ? (I shook my head) letâs just check (my plastic pants came down then my nappy tabs weâre removed & cool air hit my rear) âClever girlie thatâs just perfect, Now get on all fours & spread youâre leggies nice and Widespread..Clever girlie lift your tummy slightly cutie....(I felt a bench put under me then my legs cuffed apart, followed by my wrists being cuffed then pulled in front of me widely.
At this point I was aware the van was moving, she patted my rear then spoke âJust suckle on your Dummy Babyslave a wee short drive to a Quite location & we can prepare You for the trip homeâ she was sliding something up my shaft it was compressing my already engorged clitte ! The van came to a stop & the driver got into the back with her. I felt a large pair of hands lift my head as a strap was put to each chin from the belt over the small of my back holding me down...this had me whimpering as my head was forced into an unnatural backwards position ! I heard them both chuckle as she spoke to me..
âNow Babyslave were going to give you a wee taster of whatâs in store for your Obedience Training This weekend, Off we Go !..Daddy...â I felt cold lib slide down the crack of my bum cheeks then someone straddling my widespread thighs !
She smiled at her husband as he squatted down lining up his member with the newly cleaned Fuck hole Dee had just cleaned in preparation! Only fifteen minutes ago Dee had messaged Mummy to tell her the treatment was done & they could message him. Now as she watched her hubby Very slowly enter there new Toy starting a slow rhythmic moment of fucking the spread eagle Sissy up the anal passage ! Mummy kissed his cheek..âClever girlie Babyslave Remember Donât Open your eyes As so far your being ever so Clever, aaaaww Daddy I can see tears forming...Big thrust now I think...(I could feel the first tears rolling down my face) Clever girlie Babyslave Open your eyes & look at me !â She was stunning even through tears I could see her leather clad figure !...
I had never been fucked by a man, I had fantasies about it but being straight I had never felt guy....but the humiliation of it did excite me....Now here I was Spread & being fucked as this gorgeous girl mocked me tears flowing from me freely now, I cried openly to her with a Deep want to give her my pent up tears..All of them held inside for so long struggled to get passed each other as they ran down my face in a race to be first to the floor of the van !
âClever girlie Crybaby thatâs the way....Big Deep Breath Now though as Daddy is going to Fuck You ever so Hard Now am Afraid !â
True to her word he suddenly took hold of the belt pounding my rear hard as I attempted to scream Mistress Mummy held me in a chocking Hold this muffled any sound I could make As he grunted out a climax Deep inside me !
But he was not the only one that had climaxed my seed was now in the tube over my clitte, as Mistress Mummy pulled it into a syringe...
âLook at this Master Daddy our Dirty wee Punishment Toy did a huge creammie for us ! Mistress Mummy was putting it to the dummy as I felt hot seed coming out of the wee spikes on the dummy teat !
âClever girlie Crybaby suckle That Down !â I was undone from my position then had a maxi pad taped over my hole !! Then my nappy put back on followed by my pvc pants.They sat me in a chair cuffing my legs under me then my arms behind the seat. Mistress Mummy sat next to me, then Master Daddy drove Off heading home as we drove Mistress Mummy spoke to me âCrybaby Sweetheart can you feel Master Daddyâs gift oozing out Your Baby Fuck hole ?â She giggled as I nodded....âDonât you fret though Pet as soon as we are home Itâs Going To Be Mistress Mummyâs turn To abuse Her Toys fuck hole...Crybaby Your Going To Cry Real Tears then not these silly crocodile Tears here Pet !â......
Mistress Mummy lifted a small rubber hammer tapping the front of my Nappy she hit me with it over & over ....âNow Crybaby I want you to wet your Nappy before we get home...If You donât I will Beat your down here until you Vomit, Ok Sweetheart?(I nodded) Clever girlie Crybaby Ok Off we go !â She hit me hard with the hammer...I could see Master Daddy smiling at her in the rear view mirror ! What had I gotten myself into.......
A/n: Ah! So~ I finally got my thoughts back together on this bad boy lol. That being said yes sheâs back in rotation! This chapter is a bit flillerish? In terms of I had to push through it to work some things out but beyond this weâre back in it!! Enjoy!!
<<Chapter Eight---Chapter Ten>>
She wasn't sure at what point during the three days since Yoongi had been discharged from the hospital that she'd started falling in serious like with him. But it was certainly entirely his fault.
He was quiet, shy and reserved in a way she hadn't expected of the man who'd literally almost cost her her job the first day they'd met. The trepidation in his hidden smiles would sometimes evaporate so quickly when something brought him joy, causing his entire being to light up with laughter as he struggled to stay upright in his mirth.
The way he cared for her, quietly looking out for her in ways even she didn't anticipate had her second guessing her early misgivings on having him around to invade her solitude.Â
She'd gone back to work that day, after ensuring he had plenty to keep him occupied while she was out. Though, to her credit she hadn't anticipated the sheer amount of exhaustion that would weigh her down once she got home. Her shoulders sagged as she walked through the front door, eyes downcast as she kicked off her shoes to the side of the entrance before trudging her way towards the interior of her home.
The smell of food had greeted her, along with the endlessly bounding affections of her two dogs as she wandered up to the kitchen only to spot a floral print apron wrapped Yoongi working hard at the stove to provide whatever meal he'd cooked up in order to appease the ravenous hunger that suddenly gripped her stomach at the sight.
"I...hey?"
Yoongi turned, lips twitching up into the barest hint of a smile as he took in the sorry state of the woman of the house.
"Hi there angel, long day I take it?"
She huffed, purse dropping to the counter as she edged her way over to try and spot what he'd been slaving away at.
"I got stuck with Selenaâs shift again. Apparently she found herself bedridden again and managed to skimp out on cleaning one of the schooners that got rented out again." She clicked her tongue, shaking her head at the silent chuckle that shook Yoongi's shoulders.
"You didn't have to cook though? I thought you wereâŠ"
"Supposed to take it easy." He gave her a sideways glance as he stirred the mysteriously bubbling liquid within the massive pot. "Yeah, but I got bored and well...I weeded the back garden at about noon...spent some time fixing some holes and dents in the hallway walls and by the time 6 rolled around I realized you'd be coming home pretty late so I thought I'd fix up a stew."
He shrugged, casting it off as no big deal while nudging her in the side with his hip.
"Why don't you go grab a hot shower? By the time you're clean and refreshed dinner will be done and you can take all the time you want complaining about Selena."
She smiled, finding the sound of a shower far more appealing than trying to convince Yoongi to take it easy.
The shower took her far longer than sheâd expected, finding herself relaxing into the contented heat of the ever flowing water for nearly a good 45 minutes before realising that dinner would be done and Yoongi would be waiting for her.
Ever so hastily she ended her shower, tugging on the comfiest and most modest night wear that she could find before sneaking down the hall and into the kitchen.
Sure enough Yoongi sat at the table, patiently waiting for her with that soft smile on his face as he watched the dogs play tug of war with a rope in the livingroom.
âMuch needed shower I take it?â He whispered, startling her with a squeak as he slowly turned to look in her direction.
âAh, y...yeah. Sorry it took so long. I guess I didnât realize how stressed I was until I got in there.â
He tilted his head, watching her as she made her way over to the table and softly inhaled the scent of the stew steaming in her bowl.
âOh my, that smells like actual heaven.â She sighed, taking her seat and practically drooling into the bowl.
âWell, dig in. Itâs not gonna make its own way to your stomach, unless you have some kind of secret psychic mind powers I should know about.â
The snort that choked its way out of her throat was very much unladylike as she glanced up to stare at Yoongiâs self satisfied face. He seemed plenty pleased with himself at his own joke as he spooned a bit of broth into his mouth before glancing up at her through heavily lidded lashes.
âWell?â
âWhat?! No! I donât have psychic powers thank you very much!â Picking up her spoon she dug in to the meal, very nearly groaning out loud at the explosion of flavor that hit her tongue like a freight train.
âJesus Yoongi, if I didnât know any better Iâd say you were a professional chef in a past life or something!â
âIs it good?â He asked shyly, all the while his eyes were focused on his own meal, though she could tell he was hanging onto her every word.
âWell duh! I mean, yeah...itâs amazing.â
They continued on in silence, exchanging quiet noises of satisfaction as their bellies slowly filled with the warm comfort of the meal Yoongi had painstakingly made.
âSo uhâŠâ
She glanced up, eyes questioning as Yoongi cleared his throat before meeting her gaze with a questioning one of her own.
âYou mentioned a Selene giving you trouble at work?â
âOh god yes.â She groaned, leaning back in her chair and rolling her eyes. âThat woman I swear. She goes out and parties all night and then the next morning, despite her duties, has the freaking audacity to call in sick to work, even though everyone knows sheâs just hung over. I mean seriously? How long am I expected to pick up her slack? Sheâs not even nice to me when she manages to come to work.â
Shaking her head in frustration she picked up her spoon again and glared down at her bowl. âAll she ever does is flirt with trust fund babies and mess around with literally any guy that happens to look hot or loaded. Itâs a disgrace really and it makes me sick that Troy just lets her get away with it.â
âTroy?â
She flinched, realizing sheâd been rambling. âOh, uh yeah. My boss. I work for a yacht rental company. Basically I get the glamourous job of cleaning up after people when they rent out the yachts, on top of like, setting up for parties and making sure the fancy rich people have everything they need before they set out on their little mini cruise getaways.â
âHmmâŠâ His tone wasnât really dismissive, more of an, oh okay kind of vibe.
Despite that she felt herself blushing, though she wasnât sure if it was for the sheer amount of word vomit sheâd just spewed, or from fear that he might have judged her for her occupation. It wasnât the first time he had after all, though, that had been before he found himself in his current state.
Pushing away from the table she grabbed their now empty bowls and silverware, mumbling something along the lines of how she was going to clean up before darting quickly to the kitchen sink before she continued on.
Shoving the tap on she waited patiently for the water to heat up, not realizing that Yoongi had followed her and was now standing just behind her. Her foot tapped out a random rhythm on the floor as she watched suds fill the sink.
âSo...I was wonderingâŠâ
She squeaked, spinning in place and clutching at her chest as her heart threatened to escape its confides in her ribcage.
âSorry, I didnât mean to startle you.â Yoongi held his hands up as if showing her he wasnât a threat.
âNo no, itâs okay. I just didnât hear you walk over.â
He smiled sheepishly, tugging nervously at his earlobe before clearing his throat. For a moment she got lost in his mannerisms, smiling softly to herself at the nervous fidgeting of his hands.
âWell, I was just wondering. You mentioned having a job and well. Did I have one? I mean...surely I did right?â
***
âWell???What did you tell him?â Rose leaned in close, stage whispering despite the fact that the cafe her, Devani, and y/n sat in was in fact devoid of other customers.
âUgh, I donât know. I think something about how he was in between jobs or some shit.â Y/n leaned back in her seat, fanning herself in frustration as Devani snorted into her drink.
âReal smooth there girl. And youâre telling me he bought that?â Dev shook her head, placing the cup back in itâs saucer and glaring her best friend down.
âI mean..he may or may not have believed it. I couldnât really tell. The dude has the poker face of a pro.â
âSo have you slept with him yet?â Rose interrupted, leaning in even further.
The poor woman sputtered, having just taken a sip of steaming hot coffee, which now happened to have sprayed all over poor Devani.
âI beg your pardon???â
âConsider my pardon begged, now. Did you sleep with him or not?â Rose smirked, her eyes glinting with a mischievous humor that her friends had become used to over the years.
âIâll have you know I have far more dignity than that. I mean heâs basically a stranger!â
âDude, you literally have one of the hottest men youâve ever seen in your life living under your roof under the notion that heâs married to you. Any red blooded woman would have at least gotten some by now.â
Y/n frowned, shaking her head at the brazen woman.
âRose, enough. Stop harassing y/n. And y/n? No slut shaming Rose.â Devani sighed, placing her cup back on the table. âI swear if I didnât know any better I was the actual adult on this friendship circle.â
Rose groaned, leaning across the table to pat poor Devaniâs hand. âOur poor precious maknae. Sheâd had to raise the two of us on her own all these years.â
Y/n sniffed, wiping an imaginary tear from her eye. âIâm just so proud of her maturity.â
The three women giggled, continuing on with their conversation until the oldest of them sighed forlornly.
âGuys I really donât know about this job thing. I mean the way he looked when he talked about it I donât think heâs going to let it go as easily as I wanna hope.â
Rose hummed, absentmindedly tossing tiny bits of torn up napkin onto her plate as she stared off into the distance.
âWhat if I gave him a job in the kitchen at my restaurant?â
Y/nâs head jerked up and her eyes went wide at the prospect. She didnât want to get her hopes up but the idea sounded good. âWait, but what if he canât handle it?â
Rose shook her head with a smile, reaching across the table to pat her friendâs hand. âSo I give him a dish washing spot during our slow hours. Itâll be quick and easy and Iâll be able to keep an eye on him in case anything happens to him health wise.â
âIâll help too!â Devani chirped up. She worked part time as a hostess at the same restaurant.
âI...I donât know guysâŠâ
Rose clicked her tongue, her reassuring pats turning slightly more aggressive. âY/n, I own the place. Nobodyâs gonna question the boss. Youâre only a phone call away if anything happens and at the end of the week his buddies can come back and collect him, no harm done.â
âYou might even get a cut of some cash for gratitude.â Devani smirked, a conspiratorial glint to her eyes.
âDev doesnât mean that and you know it.â Rose reassured at the moment of panic that flitted across y/nâs face.
âYeah, I know. I mean it would be nice to get the money to replace the vacuum that got wrecked but...honestly at the end of the day I just want him to be okayâŠâ
âWe know love. Donât worry, weâve got your back okay?â
She couldnât help but smile at her friends, hoping against hope that this would work and that things would turn out okay.
âNo, Joan⊠Listen, Iâll call you back, no, itâs fine, Iâve just started unpacking, you can come by laterâŠâ Logan watched warily as the new human shuffled boxes around, speaking ceaselessly to someone on his phone, occasionally laughing, reassuring the person that he was fine, the drive had gone well, making idle chatter.
 It hadnât been all that long. Merely three months, but he wasnât all that surprised the house went so fast, to a first-time owner, as well, judging by the looks of the young man. No doubt at an insanely low price, thanks to the laws dictating they disclose any deaths on the property, Virgilâs having been so recent, as well. He was sure Virgil was lurking somewhere, watching all of this, or perhaps he was hiding somewhere.
 Theyâd caught glimpses of him, here and there. Nothing much, just a flicker of shadows, a tinge of darkness, always out of the corner of the eye, always gone before they could say a single word, and it was driving all of them a bit mad.
 Patton and Janus had tried everything, to get him to come out, to get him to come back, but to no avail. They still often spoke out loud, when doing things, now, holding conversations with the air, just in case Virgil was nearby, listening, reassuring him that they were there, if he needed anything, wanted anything, they were there for him. To his frustration, Logan had also started doing it, not noticing until someone called him out on it.
 And Roman. Roman was worse off than the rest of them. He was miserable, he was apologizing endlessly, trying at every turn to seek him out, but if anything, that seemed to drive Virgil farther away, the sense of his presence dwindling, the paint on his door fading and chipping off, a sign that he hadnât been in it at all, maybe since the last time theyâd all seen him, which meant he wasnât getting the rest he needed, either.
 With a sigh, Logan shook himself out of his thoughts, swapping back over to the spirit plane.
 âWell?â Roman asked, laying upside down on the couch.
 âYoung adult, thirty, brown hair, brown eyes, named Thomas. Seems nice enough.â He reported. âDidnât seem to notice me at all, no mentions of cold spots, hearing my voice when I spoke, seems just as oblivious as the rest of them.â He commented, noticing the tenseness fading out of Patton and Janusâs shoulders, Remusâs grin growing feral.
 âGood. I like a challenge.â He sighed, ignoring Remusâs commentary.
 âAnd⊠any sign?â Patton asked hesitantly. He shook his head, eyes clouding with worry for a moment.
 âNo. I would have expected⊠something, but there was no hint of his presence. I donât know⊠I hate not knowing things.â He muttered, falling onto the far end of the couch.
 âI know, Lo, but weâll figure this out.â Patton answered, though his own voice was tinged with disappointment.
 There were some cases, rare cases, where humans could see ghosts, speak to them, as if they were just normal, still alive people. None of them had ever met someone like that, the most they got were amateur ghost hunters, in years the house sat empty, when it had still been an old plantation house, and even they werenât very perceptive. Some humans were more sensitive, catching glimpses of things, picking up on words here or there, cold spots, hot spots, that was more common. Theyâd have to wait and see, if this one could pick up on any of that.
âŠ
In hindsight, they maybe should have been more worried, when the human, Thomasâs, friend showed up, with a bottle of wine, a cactus as a housewarming gift, and a Ouija board.
 But most of that stuff was just hocus pocus, as Logan said, which set Roman off, quoting what was apparently a Disney movie.
 âRoman, I am begging you to shut up.â Janus moaned. âI am trying to watch these idiots.â Roman scowled, but ceased, watching the two humans laugh as they lit candles around the board, turning off the lights, to add to the atmosphere.
 âWhat do they think candles are gonna do?â Remus asked, continuously blowing out the small flame as they tried to light the final one.
 âProbably supposed to symbolize a portal to the afterlife, or something similarly ridiculous.â Logan scoffed, still watching their actions with interest.
 âOk, who should we try and talk to?â Thomas asked.
 âUhhh, Abraham Lincoln!â Joan responded, earning a startled laugh from Thomas.
 âWhat? Why was that your go to?â
 âI donât know, it was the first famous dead person that came to mind! What was your plan, then?â Joan asked indignantly, though they were smirking too. Thomas shrugged.
 âUm. Hey. Anyone here whoâs friendly and not, like, gonna go all Amityville horror on us, feel free to communicate with us, using this board.â
 âDude, theyâre ghosts. How are they gonna know what Amityville horror is? Since when do ghosts watch movies?â
 âI donât know! You were trying to talk to good âol Abe, I feel like you donât have room to lecture here.â They both froze as the planchet moved. Not much, not far, but it had definitely moved.
 âDid that justâŠâ
 âHoooolly shiiit.â Joan whispered, wide eyes meeting Thomasâs. Neither of them had even had their hands near the board, much less touching the planchet.
 In the ghostly realm, everyoneâs eyes locked on Roman, who stood frozen, mouth agape, staring at the planchet heâd bumped against while leaning in to examine the board, as easily moved as anything he summoned himself.
 âOops?â He said, shushing Logan as the two humans started speaking again.
 âOk, um, ok, thatâs normal! We probably just bumped the table! Um, is⊠is anyone here, with us?â Thomas asked. Immediately the planchet started moving again, landing on âyesâ.
 âROMAN! What do you think youâre doing?!â Janus hissed, and he wrung his hands.
 âI-I donât know! They asked! It seemed rude not to answer? I havenât exactly been in this situation before, Jan!â He fired back, their own panicking mirroring the panic going on between Thomas and Joan.
 âWhat do we have to lose?â Patton asked softly, getting everyoneâs attention.
 âI am unclear what you mean, Patton.â Logan said, gaze turning to him, where he sat, biting his lip, fiddling with his cardigan.
 âI mean⊠by answering them. What do we have to lose? Weâre all stuck here, anyway. Itâs not like they can hurt us. And⊠we live here too! Shouldnât we get to know our new roommates?â He asked, voice getting higher in pitch with each word, until he squeaked out his question.
 âWho are you?â Came the question from the humans, from the board, and Roman hesitated, looking back at everybody, asking what he should do, the question evident in his eyes.
 âFine. Go ahead. Pattonâs right, I suppose, thereâs not much they can do, besides leave. But I will not be involved in this.â Janus sighed from the couch, retreating to his room, to avoid whatever action was coming next. Logan nodded.
 âI second Janusâs sentiments. Pardon me.â With that, it was Roman, Patton and Remus, who tried to swipe the planchet, but failed, swiping right through it, letting out an annoyed squawk.
 âWhat?! Why!?â He screeched, Roman grinning like an idiot.
 âTheir opening. They saidâŠâ He broke off laughing, âThey said anyone who wasnât gonna Amityville them, Ree youâre literally a poltergeist, that stupid line is keeping you from doing shit!â He laughed harder at Remusâs indignant expression, eyes flashing with ire.
 âOH, theyâre gonna regret that bullshit. Imma haunt them so hard itâs gonna feel like a-â
 âThank you, Remus, thatâs enough!â Patton interrupted, not wanting to know the end of that sentence, and Remus vanished with a scowl and puff of black smoke. Roman rolled his eyes, turning his attention back to the board, spelling out his name.
 âR-o-m-a-n. Roman. Like, a Roman soldier? What would they be doing here?â Thomas asked.
 âWhat would they be doing speaking English?â Joan piped in.
 âGood lord, these two are slow.â Roman muttered, moving the planchet once more, Patton giggling at his remark.
 âMy name is Roman, you idiots.â He spelled out, âAnd I am not a roman.â The two humans stared at each other for a moment, before bursting into only slightly hysterical laughter.
 âWe just got called idiots⊠by a ghost! What even⊠how is this happening?â Thomas wheezed, trying to pull himself together, devolving into giggles every time he and Joan looked at each other.
 âI mean, theyâre not wrong!â Joan shot back, once they got their breathing back under control.
 âHow did you die?â Blurted Thomas, and Roman rolled his eyes.
 âOh my god, you canât just ask people how they died!â Roman replied, enjoying the befuddlement on the two humanâs faces.
 âIâm⊠I might be wrong, but did it just make a mean girls reference?â Joan asked.
 âYes. And I use He/Him, thank you. If you must know, I was a civil war soldier. Fighting for the North, yâknow, the right team? But my family were assholes and lived here so⊠here I am!â He answered.
 âOh, good. Heâs anti-slavery and not a homophobe. Cool, cool, cool.â
 âIs there anyone else, with you?â Joan asked, and Roman bit his lip, turning to Patton, who eagerly grabbed the planchet.
 âHey kiddos! Iâm Patton!â His answer was met with instant bursts of laughter.
 âWow. Straight from civil war action to dad mode. Um. Hello, Patton. Itâs⊠nice to meet the both of you? Weâve never really spoken to ghosts before. Uh, you guysâŠlive here?â Thomas asked a bit nervously.
 âYuppers! But weâre all pretty friendly. Mostly. None of us are violent, or anything, though some can be a bit⊠startling at times.â
 âThatâs only a bit worrying. Oh god, now Iâm gonna hear every noise and think itâs a ghost. Because it could be a literal ghost.â Thomas mumbles, shoving back his hair, Joan chuckling nervously.
 âYeah, good luck with that one, Thomas.â Joan answers, getting to their feet. âItâs late. I should probably be going.â
 âWhat? No, uh uh, after this, you do not get to ditch me on my first night in a new house in a new town that you made me learn is actually haunted, though the ghosts do seem polite, no offense, guys, just a liiittle freaky.â Thomas said, gaze shifting to the board for a moment, and Patton laughed.
 âHeâs worried about us! Thatâs sweet!â
 âHeâs worried weâll haunt his nightmares.â Roman muttered back, watching the humans argue back and forth, before finally agreeing.
 âAlright. Uh, weâre gonna go to bed and try and sleep. So⊠talk to you later, I guess?â
 âYes please! This is fun!â Thomas chuckled a bit at that.
 âIâm guessing that was Patton. Good night, Pat. Good night, Roman, who is not an actual Roman. Uhhh, youâre dismissed?â
 âAre you a school teacher? âyouâre dismissed. Get some style. Farewell, my fellow brother in arms, may your gay heart guide you true!â Roman replied, making them both break down into a giggling fit yet again, as they blew out the candles, setting aside the board as they got up to get ready to sleep, Patton and Roman returning to their own living room in the spirit world.
 âWell, that was⊠interesting.â Roman said slowly.
 âIt was⊠a bit nice. Talking. To other live people.â Patton said softly, and Roman stopped, pulling Patton into a hug, which he easily melted into.
 âyeah. It was. But it did still take quite a bit of energy. We should get some rest, as well.â
 âIâm gonna stay out here for a little bit. Just⊠just in case.â Roman sighed softly, but nodded, stepping away.
 âAlright. Rest well, Pat.â
âŠ
He had been asleep for a few hours, when he blinked open his eyes at a small movement. All he caught was a deep shadow, tucking a blanket tight around him.
 âVirg?â He asked softly, the shadow freezing, the room dropping in temperature with his fear, and he moved to hide away. âs okay, bud. I love you kiddo, okay? Jus want you to know.â He mumbled, smiling as his eyes drifted closed, pulling the blanket tighter with a soft sigh. âyou can come talk to me, anytime. I won tell. Promise.â He felt a soft pat against his hand, then the shadow slipped away, though Patton was sure he felt a little better than before.
