In this current state of intoxication I realize that my thematic issues with the Steven Universe finale were reliant on projecting Pink Diamond onto Steven, and that it was all based on how it was pulled off- especially how easy it would have been to fix!

Change White Diamond’s pink lighting that makes it look like maybe Steven took control of her to being multicolored, making it more clear that she’s not had her abilities turned back on her, but rather whatever the flushing was supposed to symbolize (which I can kind of identify but can only gesture towards, perhaps not only because I am on drugs), and move “Change Your Mind” from its clumsy placement at the end, and make it play over White Diamond changing hers.

Then, have Sadie Killer and the Suspects play over the part that has the Off-Colors landing and meeting the Diamonds; then, the song ends after the fast version of the the scene with the Diamonds and the Off-Colors.

Everything is the same after that, minus the clumsy implementation of the song “Change Your Mind” into the show, so it ends with the reprise of the theme song.

I will use this opportunity to ask my kind following for some help and assistance. 😮‍💨 all of the local food pantries are booked / closed right now, and after finally getting my wife into the dentist, she needs to be on soft foods for a week, but a mysterious charge I am investigating currently hit my account and now I cannot afford to get the food she needs.

We are also still looking for shelter within Indianapolis, but all of them are full or there is months long waiting lists. If anyone knows of anything legit and safe as an alternative, or is willing to house the two of us for a short while, please let me know.

We’re trying to get back to Canada asap but without a stable roof over our head, affording that has been. A struggle.

I wanted to focus on the cuteness before talking about the rest of the dream. Basically when nine interrupts the glowing string, something happens (the dream doesn't explain, but in trying to explain it now consciously, maybe it's a combo of chaos magic, 2 powerful mystic monkeys, the closeness to the pillar, and/or everyone getting magic. Its dream logic, whatever) and now everyone can see strings. And then the dream moved away from shadowpeach to drama as people tracked down celebrities' end of strings, couples realizing they have no string to each other, one woman seeing an extremelly thick string between her husband and the cowoker she was told not to worry about, etc. Pure personal chaos and upheaval

Fic Resolutions For 2025

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a fun or at least not annoying New Year's Eve! As is tradition around here, I have some fic resolutions to make for the upcoming year:

Finish posting "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland" and start working on "Londerland Bloodlines: Hollywood's Deluded Depths" -- Arguably the biggest one (literally, have you seen the size of the chapters in these fics?), this one shouldn't be too hard to accomplish -- I've got the rest of "Downtown Queensland" written, I just have to edit the remaining three chapters for posting. Which I can now get back to now that I'm not writing a whole load of gift fics. XD And I imagine I'll have the fic done by about midyear (depending how long editing takes), which will allow me to then start the first draft of the next installment! Fingers crossed!

Continue working on my Valicer In The Dark series -- Well, this should be an easy one to accomplish, given a) you all must know how much I absolutely adore this series by this point and b) I've already finished the first draft of the second installment, "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded." XD These stories tend to be a lot shorter and go a lot quicker than anything in the Londerland Bloodlines series, so I'm hopeful we can get through "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded," "The Van Dort Vacancy," and whatever the fourth story will be called -- maybe "They Would Have Done It For An Ottoman" given that they're paid in furniture for that score? ...actually, I like that, let me note that down...

Start reading and reviewing more fic again -- And in non-writing news...this one was inspired by the fact that I've kind of fallen out of the habit of reading fic when I'm at home, instead doing it almost exclusively during my lunch break at work, meaning I'm not exactly in a good place to review said fic. (With the major exceptions being when a friend sends me a link to something they're working on.) There always seems to be something else grabbing my attention. So I want to try and make a concentrated effort to get back into the habit of doing it at home so I can leave reviews, even short ones.

I think those are all reasonable goals to have for the year, given what I know about myself. *nods* Fingers crossed we all make it through this one, folks!

the more books i read, the more i feel like all these people and beings and thoughts i love (and loathe) get to start populating another world in my mind, in which i can observe and participate through them and my own lens on them, without being under all the pressure i feel in my own world and the places i am supposed to have in it and things to live up to. i love reading. it’s like living without the risk. without having to be perceived.
