2. Favorite female wrestler of the year

So hard to narrow down with how great women's wrestling has been. Honestly? A tie between Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale. I'm not even a big Mercedes stan or was familiar with any of her work prior to AEW, but she's made such a big impact on the scene be it through the advertising, presentation, or match quality, it's hard to not picture her when thinking of female wrestlers in 2024. Sure there were some stinkers with her or some aspects of her run hasn't been perfect, but when it's good? She hits it out of the park. Willow for me is the real face of the AEW women's division, imo. Like, first getting into AEW Dec 2023 and into January 2024, I completely thought Willow was the longtime representation of the division and I was surprised to learn some people considered Britt Baker to be that. She's just so loveable and affable, she's in all the social media and press, she's the international representation for AEW women in partner promotions, plus, she's an amazing wrestler! In terms of wrestling styles, I love her, Jamie Hayter, and Kris Stat's styles. And she's not just a one dimensional happy character, no, she's got depth, and she can go hard when needed. I love that so much as a character. Out of all the female wrestlers, she feels like she could be a friend. But yeah, I think of my fav women's matches of the year, those two are in a lot of them.

14. Favorite heel of the year

He's pretty divisive, but it's Gabe Kidd. I completely understand why people can find his schtick annoying, very try-hardy and over the top, but it's also why I enjoy him. Like how people say Eddie Kingston doesn't know wrestling is fake, so does Gabe Kidd, hence why they have amazing chemistry together. (He also gets extra bastard heel points for taking out Kingston, though it was an accident.) You know people like this irl who puts up a tough guy front, like an animal that has to put on a threat display, but it's to hide a vulnerability. He brings intensity to his matches that elevates his opponents, just a true old fashioned brutal heel that will force the babyface to give a fiery performance. He's satisfying to see beaten up, but it's also equally satisfying seeing him humiliate his opponent. And man, his G1 story was so interesting. Cocky, "you all suck, I'm the one who'll save New Japan" arrogant heel, but you can tell its coming from a genuine place of true passion and concern, to the point the Japanese fans picked it up and started cheering him all throughout the tournament. He literally had to backstab and low blow Shingo, then threaten Tanahashi backstage to get any heat back. Which I also think is such a smart move from him that's a bit of a lost art, because it would've been so easy to turn face. Or teasing it in the following months, but he knows it's way too soon. He's much more needed as a heel and I respect he understands that.

18. Favorite feud of the year

Hangman-Swerve, hands down. If you want to talk about top feuds with top matches and top promos with all the drama, this is such a bright highlight. I absolutely adored how they played with morality, because while I do like traditional heel/face dynamics when done right, Hangman and Swerve just felt like characters. They act what's right to the character and the changes they go through, not what's supposed to be a good guy coded thing or bad guy coded thing. Wrestling fans can be too tied to heel/face dynamics to where they won't accept anything that isn't black and white, which makes me wonder how they ever consume complex media outside of wrestling in the first place. One man dragging the other down into darkness until they're both drowning in each other's wrath and the enemies they've made in their wake. Just the constant escalation, from what happens in the matches to what they do outside the ring. The way neither of them can be the same ever again because of the mere fact they crossed paths. That's character and storytelling continuity baybeee. This is true hatred.

i think the thing about the way grian deals with grief is that he only operates in absolute extremes.

like. losing scar fucking. destroyed him. he literally decided he’d rather be dead than keep going after that (in a season that was the first and therefore had no precedent of anyone coming back) and then in last life something. happens. he spends the entire season trying to claw his way back to mumbo’s side and then just. slaughters him in cold blood. granted i think part of that is due to his absolutely wild paranoia spiral he was going through in last life (which is another thing i could talk about for ages, but like. see him murdering jimmy and mumbo in a situation where it was clear they weren’t going to attack and were actively fleeing the situation and then crying self defense as my Just Trust Me Bro evidence for now) but i also think the way he immediately turns to martyn for reassurance (“back me up here martyn, they went for me” literally exactly the first words he says after mumbo’s down) is extremely indicative of the way he will just. kill his ability to grieve at a moments notice. hell, i think the way he treats scar like shit in last life is part of this too! losing scar destroyed him so thoroughly that he literally couldn’t live with himself and i think for grian, when presented with the option to either open himself up to that kind of pain a second time or shut him out and bite and snap to make sure he never has to go through that again, obviously he’s going to choose the latter.

it’s the same thing every time. the horror with which he reacts to bigb’s death, vs him preemptively planning to jump ship the second joel and jimmy go down. secret life admittedly didn’t give him much room for grief, but i think that’s ultimately why he came out of it relatively unscathed and is able to start wild life out on a high.

and now mumbo and skizz. total obliteration or complete shutdown and move on. he cannot find a middle ground. he’s damn near catatonic as he marches his way down the mountain and tries to explain to skizz what happened, but now he knows better, knows it was stupid to think this wouldn’t happen again, and this time he’s ready. to him, skizz was already dead the moment mumbo’s body hit the ground.

Hi, Moo! Thanks for the questions ^^ this was a really well timed ask bc I was thinking about all of these today so yay

This was very long so imma put a cut hahaha

1. So. What I’ve been thinking so far is that Frida (and Big Mama) would live in the hotel. I believe that one room with the lava lamp to be hers, as I’ve probably mentioned before but let’s just pretend I didn’t. But today I was watching “Battle Nexus: New York” and at the end, after the shredder attack, the entire hotel crumbles to the ground. I did not notice this before so unless it’s in the last two episodes that I plan on watching tomorrow, I guess they won’t be living there during SWW? I think they would be almost done rebuilding but would be in an alternate place probably. Mama’s web of resources is quite expansive so they probably will have some place else I’ll figure out the details to later.

When she was an active participant in the Nexus, Frida would have lived there. This was probably several months, but at the point of the story, she’s a couple years retired from the Nexus. Not by choice (though she would have chosen that), Big Mama just felt she was getting too much attention and didn’t want her to develop an ego.

Wherever their new living space is, it probably is in the Hidden City, but Friday doesn’t get the opportunity to roam. Her job is to assist Big Mama, and Frida is a bit of a workaholic. Never leaves her side except for when Mama sends her on errands. Big Mama has quite the hold on her, but it can’t stop Frida from taking an extra second to people watch… she has quite the interest in them.

2. Frida’s public image is a bit choppy. She’s a sort of legend in that not many people know much about her and lots of info seems to conflict. Many know Big Mama has a child- it’s in her name after all- but they can’t often put a face to the child. She grew up around the hotel but didn’t do much apart from her studies. Then once she got to an age Mama deemed old enough to fight, she became known as a warrior and eventually a champion. Once she had proved herself (or really, once Mama felt threatened by the amount of attention Frida was getting), she retired from the Battle Nexus and began her duties at the Hotel. She became known by the other staff members as “Big Sis”- no longer the child they had seen grow up, now a seasoned killing machine. Once the opportunity arose, Frida became Mama’s assistant until it was her main and most important role. When she makes appearances in public, her masked persona is known for her strength and brutality. When she is unmasked, she is the daughter of Big Mama- prestigious and powerful. Very few know the true extent of who she actually is. And wow this is getting long…

3. Hehehe I was just wanting to mention this ^^ I don’t think I’ve discussed Camille’s mystic abilities. In SWW, there is a distinct difference between mystic stuff and the Hamato ninpo. What Frida uses is her ninpo; Camille has had no such luck with ninpo stuff though (being alone for most of her life and all that). She does, however, possess a knack for mystic stuff and has some “natural” mystic powers. I say natural bc it’s as natural as it can be when you were made in a lab.

So first, she has psychometric precognition and retrocognition. That means when she can see the future or past (specifically relating to the individual) when she touches people. This results in her greeting people by just grabbing their faces (“I know more stuff the closer I touch to their head”). It’s not consistent though. For instance, it doesn’t always happen. She may touch someone and get nothing then do it again and oh wow so many visions all at once. She also can’t tell if it’s future stuff or past stuff which leads to lots of confusion.

Second, it’s not an innate power but Draxum taught her a telekinetic spell which is one of the few things she managed to remember from that time. She has the spell running almost constantly bc it’s very convenient and plays into her fighting style a lot.

hi! oh my goodness. i am SO sorry i didn’t say anything earlier. i did read everything a couple days ago, and i Have been chewing on it, rotating it in my mind, etc etc…..and the graphic has been my phone lockscreen since i first read it!!!!!

frankly i am obsessed and have also been a little frazzled this month lol. saw your post late because of the general whirlwind that is december and then couldn’t quite get my thoughts into sufficient words n got worried “oh no would it be weird to say something now…..” which is incredibly silly in retrospect, so sorry for that. 

i’m relatively new to hockey fandom and the Narratives don’t always quite click for me (yet, at least :)) because i don’t know all of the lore for a lot of the popular pairings haha, so it means a lot that you’ve taken time out of your day to break things down for me and share your own thoughts <3 tysm. again, super sorry for the delayed response. i’m very sorry if you felt as though you’d wasted your time or something along those lines :’) just wanted to let you know that i really appreciate you and the time it took you to get everything down and make the graphic!!!! and like i can’t overstate how much your tags both over here and on your other blog have helped me to Get It since the start of this season, so thank you.

best friends forever until you just aren’t! growing up and growing apart. it’s just the way things go but it can and will ache for a damn long time! you think you’re over it until their birthday or the holidays roll around and you wonder in a distant sort of way who they’re spending it with. what you would’ve hypothetically gotten them as a present if you still spoke. what do they even like nowadays, anyway?

maybe having the friendship end subtly. going from playing and traveling together and living in one another’s pockets to 2,080 miles of distance? (i may have my timeline/details confused here so sorry in advance) texting as much as you can at first but he’s a phenom he’s mcjesus he’s the next in line he’s expected to win the cup with his new team and end the drought for Canada. and they have him now but he was yours first, wasn’t he? but it’s fine. because you’re busy too. you’re captaining the team now. you’re gonna get the memorial cup that he couldn’t. it’s fine. you’re fine. you don’t even have time to worry about it anyway. 

one conversation a week turns to one a month turns to once in a blue moon turns to stale words until it goes cold. these days you can’t quite seem to remember who ended things, but does it really matter all that much now?

or maybe it doesn’t end like that at all. maybe it ends in a flurry of angry words and digs in some or other of the endless hotel rooms you’ve shared together over the years. who knows!

and that’s not even getting into the rest of the 2015 draft class. or the ld19 of it all! ooh hoo hoo. you grew up with him but he’s not your waiting room. he grew up with you but he’ll grow “old” (end his career) with someone else. and isn’t that just something! 

i don’t think it’s totally them, but sort of the sentiment of “I hope you get everything you ever wanted and I hope I never hear a word about it.” I want one ticket off of your carousel!!!! merry christmas, please don’t call!!!!!!!

anyway. other things off the top of my head: 2015 connor specifically saying something like “hey let’s wait a minute so we can see this” to stand by the stage when dylan was getting drafted after him. MAN. you reminded me of the fact that they couldn’t even make eye contact at the handshake line!!!!!!!!! they didn’t go to each other’s weddings!!!!!!!!!! (do you think once upon a time they ever thought they’d being each other’s best man?). just a couple months ago dylan liking the tweet of connor getting that goal during the playoffs!!!!!!!! makes you wonder if he texted him………..

lol this was all over the place and i was probably wrong on some things and there’s SO much more that someone else could say way more eloquently, but i digress. i dunno everything about them is so nuts to me!!!!! needless to say i will be incredibly sat for the game january 21 🙂‍↕️

i watched iasip. once again, thank you for the long post. you really sold me on it, and i'm glad you did. i don't have anyone to share my thoughts to, so i thought i'd come back here.

(just for the record, i watched from season 5-16, because i struggle to get into shows if they start off slow. after i write this, i'm going to go back and watch season 1-4)

my first thoughts were, i'm surprised how much of the soundtrack i know. the background music and intro go so hard, don't get me wrong, but i was shocked how much of it i've already heard from youtube videos and stuff.

my seconds thoughts were. woah i hate everyone yet i care for them?? now that is good writing. but also i've never gasped or said "oh no" aloud so much while watching a show. again, good writing.

surprisingly, several of the episodes like, hit me hard and got me genuinely feeling like shit. cough the suburban house episode cough.

i was also surprised at the out right gayness. normally from these types of sitcoms, i've grown to accept the odd gay joke and gay-coded characters. but a canonically gay character that's sexuality is brought up often and isn't just stereotypes ontop of stereotypes? that (sadly) really shocked me.

i also found myself able to predict the way the episodes were gonna go, not for all of them but for quite a few. my brain would just assume the worst, and then it would happen. which, i think added to the atmosphere if anything. the dramatic irony and the dread i would feel as the episode progressed really just hooked me. i knew it was all going to shit, i hated it was all going to shit, but i couldn't stop watching.

overall, a very enjoyable show. i think i might like it a little less when i watch the earlier 4 seasons, because i'm assuming it'll be physically painful to watch. but again, thank you! you've created an iasip fan!

and yep! a lot of the soundtrack, including the title sequence song, are just from an unlicensed free music library online lmfao, so a lot of youtubers and stuff use it when they need music that won't get them demonetized for improper copyrighting etc. this is because they started the show with such a small budget lmao, and they decided to just stick with it. it's a funny bit tbh. here's the pieces they use for score if you were wondering, I listen to them a lot lmfao it's genuinely good music (coming from a music major who listens to instrumental orchestral shit a lot lmao)

and YES it's so awesome how terrible the characters are as people, yet you're still captivated by them and genuinely care about them. that's storytelling baybee!!! some people don't really vibe with that aspect of the show and it puts them off so I’m glad you liked it.

the suburbs episode LMAO that one's a classic. something I had a bit of trouble with at the beginning was being able to separate myself from the characters and just appreciate the comedy and story from an objective standpoint. I just really tend to put myself in the characters' positions or immediately find any way I can to empathize with the scenario. but this show becomes so painful to watch if you try to do that the whole time, so learning to take myself out of the story and just really not take any of it seriously at all has been interesting to say the least. this isn't to say you shouldn't have emotional responses to the show or connect with the characters, not at all, just that I had to learn to really not take the jokes and scenarios seriously. I hope that somewhat made sense

and yes!!! canon gay representation!!! even though rob mcelhenney (guy who plays mac) isn't gay, his mom is gay and he has two gay brothers, so he has been surrounded by the queer community his entire life. he's one of the few straight men who I think are truly qualified to play a gay character, and he does it very respectfully and mindfully, while not compromising the spirit and humor of the show itself. I really respect him for that, and it's one of the things that makes this show really special to me.

(p.s. idk if you've seen mythic quest? that's another one with great gay rep. I think I remember you mentioning you'd seen it but I thought I’d put that in here just in case you haven’t)

you saying that you would predict what was going to happen next because you just thought "what's the worst way this could go," and then it did indeed follow that worst case scenario, made me laugh lmao. I have a similar experience watching. it's exactly like you said: you know it's going to shit, you hate that it's going to shit, but you just can't stop watching regardless.

and, I don't know if you’ve already watched seasons 1-4 by the time I post this, but they're really not bad at all. in fact, seasons 2 and 4 are in my top 6 seasons of the show overall, and the season 4 finale is one of the most iconic episodes in the entire series. I just meant that season 5 is a good place to start because it immediately gets going, it makes sense without too much context, and it's a good way to gauge whether you'd be into the rest of it or not. but that's awesome that you just immediately watched all the way to the present.

for my mutuals/viewers who enjoy httyd but havent checked out all their side series and such im telling you, you should. like it expands their universe so so so much its insane. they got everything from short films to full on shows. sure yeah the animation is not AS great as the movies so it needs some getting used to but its worth it to me

i personally really enjoy how the series had more time to fully flesh out the riders other than just hiccup like their little ragtag team. cuz in the movies i feel like they just kinda got dumbed down to just sideline entertainment because of the time limit. also they became a little found family afterwards which is my fave trope so thats really nice

I think the milgram fandom in general is full of people who have trouble communicating with their peers for one reason or another. So when confession blogs are made, they end up venting their frustrations at other fans more often than not. Something that is troublesome for the person going out of their way to run a neutral third space for everyone. It's a lot of emotional labor, and I think that should be considered and hope it's not too heavy a task for you. It'd be nice if milgram fans could discuss more positive things under the guise of anonymity.

So, I'm sending this to say Milgram fans that create spaces for discussions and room for others to voice their opinions anonymously and openly are great. The milgram fandom is full of a lot of amazing visual artists, writers, cosplayers and creators of many other varieties that go overlooked and underappreciated.

The theme of this confession blog is very Yuno centric and in her words,

Yeah, the fandom can be fun and happy at times, but just like engaging with anything, it has its low points to. I hope people are appreciating the work people put in to make those lows a little better. Not only for just themselves but others. It's not much of a problem for me to deal with. Milgram is a huge passion of mine and it means a lot to me. Then again I have run a confession account before; just on Instagram! I'm a bit afraid to voice my own thoughts about some things so I thought that making a blog where you can express your opinions without anyone knowing it's you is a good idea. I had no ideas there were already milgram confession accounts before me before a commenter told me! Then again I wasn't too active on milgramblr until late 2023 early 2024... but I love the creative work put into the world by the fans. I'm very aware of some fans who have been harassed for something as little as an opinion. I'm aware this account will have some people who are very negative towards certain things but I will not post those under the main tag; I was thinking of even cw-ing those; but at the end of the day I don't think it's fair towards others. TLDR; I love milgram and I love positivity, treat others with the same respect you would like to be given. 🩷 is yapping on && on.

current obsession: In terms of hobbies, I've been teaching myself guitar which has been the most frustrating experience I've ever had a lot of fun! So hyperfixating on everything guitar at the moment. In terms of media consumption, JJK has me in a chokehold in a way I have not experienced since high school lol. I did recently get into Final Fantasy too, so I've been brainrotting over that. Finished FF7 and Crisis Core, currently playing FF15 to fill the void until Rebirth is ported to PC. last thing i googled: "pervert park full documentary" It was... an experience lol. Very interesting documentary for sure and worth the conversation, though I have my qualms with it. If you're at all interested in psychology/sociology, you might find it worth checking out. Just, god, whatever you do avoid the Youtube video that came out a few days ago on it. It's doing way more harm than good.
