hey yall! im back :3

so yesterday, i took the day off from like serious rp/tumblr so i could take a break and have a day to myself :]

dont get me wrong, i LOVE starlit songbird/rping on tumblr

it’s just that these past few days, this account has gotten a lot of attention and I’m involved in a large number of threads right now that it’s kindaaaaaa overwhelming lmao

honestly it started to stress me out, and i started getting really panicky when I didn’t respond in a timely manner/forgot about a thread/asks start sitting in my inbox for a couple days

and I looked at my mental state and was like “i probably need a break, huh?”

and so i took that break!

it was really nice to relax and just chill out that day

so now i just wanna say some shit, so bare with me:

I’d like to take a moment and tell/remind everyone that i am still in school and have extracurriculars, and I’m somewhat busy throughout the day. Plus, sometimes I like to work on personal projects and art pieces, so I’m offline. I have a life outside of tumblr?! Shocking, I know!

That being said, i may not get to @‘s, asks, threads, etc in the timeliest of manners, so just bare with me and be patient! I’ll get to you eventually. I’m just one person with a bunch of rp threads :]

next, id just like to ask that people don’t come into my inbox/tag me with reminders about their threads? I know they’re there, i promise I see them, I’m just busy, I’ll get to them, i promise. Those tags and asks just set off my anxiety and make me feel really shitty and sick to my stomach. finally, my last request is that people don’t ask me about the timeline of the event. As much as it’s my event, it’s the community’s. PSA: What I've Learned About Roleplaying (& what I look for in a RP partner/interactions)

Between an overdue blog cleanup, talking with @climatact, and coming up on a year of roleplaying in general today, I've been thinking on some stuff I've learned or wish I'd done differently from the beginning, so this is kind of a general PSA on some things I've learned that do and don't work for me in RP this year.

♥ In hindsight, I probably DO NOT already ship it. (Y'all know the psa that goes around. I used to like rb'ing this one too but boy, have I learned about some ships I really wish I had not learned about.) I like shipping, but have definitely discovered I can't and don't want to ship just for the sake of it. I'm going to blame this on my aroace-ness, but I really can't even bring myself to take on/entertain a ship now unless it's with a mun I have a decent ooc connection with (meaning we talk a fair bit). This has become every bit as important as muse chemistry.

♥ Along the same lines, I know this is not everyone's vibe (and that is NOT a bad thing), but for me, wanting to write with someone and wanting to be their friend go pretty much hand-in-hand. If I've followed you, it's because I want to write with you and chat OOC, whether that's just about our muses/threads or we hit it off and find ourselves talking about anything/everything. I know this isn't what everyone's here for, but I've realized it's a big part of the experience for me.

♥ Communication is really key for me. (And I will go ahead and disclaimer this with: this is something I have definitely had to learn/get better at myself throughout the year. I'm still not the absolute best, but I'm trying, and when I do talk about things when I'm in my bad headspace, it always helps me so I'm trying to be better about it.)

It's my BIGGEST FEAR in the rpc that I might be someone's "that person" - like... you're not feeling our stuff and angsting about it/it's preventing you from having your best rp experience here. Please please please do not ever let me be this person to you. I would so much rather you just tell me "this isn't working for me" or that you'd like to drop something than worry about it. (Or, hell, do not feel guilty about breaking mutuals if you're leaning that way. This is your RP experience and you should do what you feel is best for you and even if my feelings get hurt, I promise I'm gonna be okay. <3 Just... don't ever feel guilty about anything regarding me, that's the idea.)

♥ That said, though, I have a couple of notes on dropped interactions. I am 110% serious when I tell you I don't mind dropped threads. If our first few things don't take off, that's no reason we can't keep trying.

I don't mind dropped threads, but I do put a lot of effort into my replies and I AM attached to/invested in my ongoing interactions. As a result, I do find it difficult to jump into ic interactions with muns who frequently clear things (ongoing things, not unanswered inbox; those I don't even think about) like they just didn't matter. I don't mind if things take a while to reply to! We can have threads going on we only reply to once or twice a year - that seriously doesn't bother me. (And it's why I love having multiple ongoing things.) But I'm also OPEN TO TALKING ABOUT THINGS if an interaction isn't a vibe for you. I'm happy to restart, backtrack to an earlier point in the thread and change things up, all of that. If you loved it and now you don't and you want to talk about why, there's no reason to be shy about that! Either we end up talking through it or we don't and decide to drop it, it's not a big deal. I'd just like to give things their best change before just deciding "I'm not feeling it" if at all possible.

NAVIGATION POST

Welcome to KappaTengu! A pokeask blog about two traveling mercenaries consisting of a Nuzleaf and Lombre, named Koban and Lianhua. While there is a vague story going on, I am not immune to memes and silly antics (like 90% of the blog was memes/meme asks before my hiatus). I made this blog in 2018, and pulling it out of hiatus as of now, December 2023. This blog is best viewed on desktop.

This blog will be using a format where plot will be advanced after we reach an ask goal, eg: let’s say I set a goal of 10 asks until X happens, after answering that many asks, I’ll close the askbox, proceed with what was promised, then open the askbox again. There will be times where there’s no goal– called ‘free days’, where nothing is set to happen anytime soon– and there will be times where I will only count asks that pertain to the plot/lore, and any unrelated asks won’t count towards the number. I’ll typically call these “plot asks”.

So if you see the sidebar say anything like “ASKS UNTIL EVOLUTION: 20” or “PLOT ASKS UNTIL KOBAN EXPLODES: 5” those are just the ask goals for plot progression! If you see nothing like that anywhere, then we’re probably in a ‘free days’ phase, and our silly yokais are just chillin’.

So feel free to send serious or memey asks alike! And while this isn't an RP blog by any means, interactions from other Pokemon blogs are encouraged! You may even have impact on the plot, and the characters will certainly remember you!

On rare occasions, I may reply with art should anyone answer an ask I sent to them. I don't mind if anyone does the same if I answer their ask. Just keep in mind they probably won't be extensive/drag out.

Link accessibility for mobile users is still WIP. On desktop, you can use the blog theme links for navigation (the circle buttons to the left).No rules page yet since I haven't had any bad apples come in, but one will be made if trouble happens. #Intermission 1: Budew and Toxicroak #Egg Arc #Lianhua’s Past #Koban’s Past

A brief "about the blog" description and a summary of what happened on the blog so far in terms of vague plot under the cut.

This blog revolves around a strange Nuzleaf and Lombre, named Koban and Lianhua respectively. They work as self-proclaimed self-employed mercenaries dubbed Team KappaTengu, taking on any work they can, and doing anything they’re hired for, whether it be good or bad.

Koban has amnesia about his past, and Lianhua seems to be cagey about his own past.

Although always travelling, they primarily seem to hang around forests.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR:

Koban has stolen an egg from Takuya, lying to Lianhua that it was for a quest he accepted. But in reality– and Lianhua has already caught on, too– Koban stole it because it rung something familiar in his head, and hoped that keeping it and perhaps hatching it would help Koban gain any memory at all.

The egg has hatched into a strange Budew.

INTERMISSION 1:

Budew was left on her own, seemingly waiting for Lianhua and Koban to come back. She's attacked by an unknown Fire Pokemon while waiting, to which she was saved by a passing Toxicroak named Takuya. Takuya follows others' advice, and goes to search for either the attacker or Budew's parents.

He can be finicky and a bit rude at times, but he doesn’t mean to be. He’s “Terzo’s husband” in any HC posts that I write. He has a huge heart, you just have to be willing to do a little digging to get to it.

Salem— Fabian’s assistant and the true youngest Emeritus brother (though he doesn’t know that). He’s half human, half quintessence ghoul, but was raised by the ghouls in the Abbey given that at the time, ghoul and human relations were forbidden. This has since changed, but at the time he was born, Nihil knew he would be executed, and he was given to the ghouls to raise. He can be found doing fetch quests and other side missions throughout the church offices.

Meadow— an ftm earth/fire hybrid ghoul. He can usually be found assisting setup and tear down at shows. In some verses he’s Swiss’s mate and in others he’s Mountain’s, it just kind of depends on my mood. He’s very shy and rarely speaks up. He was originally summoned as a scribe, but was shuffled around to the band. He’s far too afraid of crowds to be on stage, despite the fact that he would make a skilled multighoul with the band, so he works behind the scenes instead.

I will not write:

R*pe/SA scenes, or anything surrounding that, unless it is far back in a character’s past and is being discussed as a past event.

“Hard kinks”. I’m asexual and struggle writing intimate scenes unless the planets align and bless me with the inspiration. That being said if you just want something simple on the smut scale, I’ll be willing to hold onto it until the mood strikes to write it.

Any kind of -ism or -phobia, unless it is a past event that is being discussed. I also, as a white person, am not the person to be writing and discussing traumas and experiences of people of color. There might be hints of homophobia or transphobia as past events a character has suffered, as I am part of the LGBT community and those communities are ones I specifically belong to, but I’m not comfortable writing about the experiences of a group that I will never be part of and will never know the struggles of.

Abuse of any kind, unless it’s a past event, etc, etc.
