whats it like being a grownup??

honestly? its been a blast so far!

once i turned 18 the first things i did were change my name legally and get myself on the wait list for gender services. its been 2 years now and every day i am a step closer!

i had a job for a while and made hella money and was able to buy a bunch of cool stuff that i wanted and i still have a bunch of it left over that i am saving to get top surgery

i moved out of my mums house! that has been Unreal in improving my mental health. i had no idea how much living with my parents was getting me down until i was out of there. i am now in full control of my time, my body, and my space.

a strange side effect is that teenagers seem so Young now. when you are 14 you feel so grown up and you think you look and act like an adult but then suddenly you are 20 and looking at all the 14 year olds like My God These Are Children. but like. not in a "you shouldnt have autonomy and i dont respect you" way, more like "why is no one protecting you from The Horrors??? why is no one loving you and supporting you and telling you you're doing great??? why would anyone be mean to these kids!!"

and just because you're an adult doesn't mean you have to grow up lol. i still sleep with plushies in my bed and have fnaf posters up on my walls. just because you have to do your own food shopping and laundry doesnt mean you cant also play in the park with your friends.

you have so much life ahead of you. it doesnt end when you turn 18. yeah some stuff sucks but some stuff Always sucks thats life under capitalism babey! you gotta find the little joys. remind yourself of how far you've come and how much better things are. being a grown up is about freedom. its about autonomy. its about being In Control. and yeah that means you gotta keep your flesh prison alive and clean but it also means you get to spend your time however you want! and thats awesome

and it also means you get to look out for the kids the way you wish grown ups would have looked out for you. :)

My big age is 30 going on 31, but I have a smol age. My smol age is anywhere between 0 and 14, however I am often in the 3-4 range or the 8-14 range. I'm also a demi-permaregressor, as I am almost always in a regressed space.... again that is where the 8-14 age range comes in...

I'm also queer and nonbinary transgender.....to be precise I'm multigender (previously bigender but I guess I'm gender fluid too??) and abroromantic asexual. My pronouns are mostly they/them but I'm okay with he/she as well as my first name. When I am in smol mode, however, I feel like I'm androgynous so definitely he/him or she/her pronouns when I am smol.

When you see me in the wild, you really don't notice that I am age regressing, aside from carrying a plushie around. I still talk like a grown up, albeit with a slightly higher pitch in my voice. But when I text or blog, it's very noticeable because I baby talk in the virtual world.

Aside from my blogging, I also have some things I like to engage in while I am smol. I also love to travel when I am smol.

World: Final Fantasy 14

Theme: Space Banjo - Cosmic Wanderer

K’thalen sat in the pavilion outside the Veldha Estate, tuning up an old banjo he had found in storage a bell before. Thunder boomed in the distance, faint but growing louder every time the rolling clouds growled at each other, which only meant it would begin to rain soon; and out here in the Black Shroud, when it rained it poured.

People were laughing and talking and feasting inside, but K’thalen preferred it out here by himself. He hates crowds– always has. They make him anxious and terribly uncomfortable for as long as he can remember. Silence is his safety, solitude, his serenity. Perhaps that's why he can never seem to settle down with a woman and start his own family, even though he has women in his life that would jump at the chance. He's kept his guard up for so long he doesn't remember how to lower them back down again. A part of him was envious of people like Leo and Coroh; it must certainly be nice to have a happily ever after.

He heard the front door open but he was too busy tuning his guitar to pay it any real attention. Yet as he began to pluck the strings, the soft pitter-patter of tiny feet stepping across the yard drew his eyes to his left, and down. Staring up at him with eyes the size of dinner plates was Leo’s boy, wrapped snugly in a thick blanket that was dragging along the grass behind him. His tiny lips stained from his supper, most likely something easy for him to eat yet still messy, like spaghetti. He was still young enough to think tilting his head side to side would help him listen to unfamiliar sounds… K’thalen certainly remembers when he used to do the very same. Or perhaps it was a learned behavior for him since he has been partially raised by lalafells.

“Hiii…” He softly mumbled, rubbing his eyes with a small fist. K'thalen didn't really know how to talk to such a young boy, but he knew he had to be careful; anything he said might be repeated in front of his parents, and the last thing he wanted was to suffer the wrath of his mother.

He took a quick breath before offering him a half smile and a “Howdy.”

“Can I sit down?” Nolas timidly asked.

“This here’s yer home, lil’man.” K’thalen answered, scooting over. “Ya can sit wherever ya like.” He heard no argument from the boy, who shuffled over to the bench beside him and set his sippy cup down, then his stuffed hrothgar plushie, and finally his wooden sword along the bench before clambering up it himself.

“My name is Nolas.” He stated while making himself comfortable. “I am thirteen moons old.”

“I’m K’thalen. N’I’m thirty-two summers old.”

“You’re really old…!”

K’thalen couldn’t help but chuckle. Most folks would get upset from that, but not him– he wore his age with pride. Most Tia never make it past their twenty fifth summer anyroad. 

“Mom told me you know a person named Nolas too.” He continued, trying to rub the sleep away from his eyes. K’thalen stopped plucking at the instrument but only for a few moments; he still couldn’t believe Coroh decided to honor him by naming her son after his brother.

“Aye… I did. He was me only family.”

“Was he nice…?”

A pained smile flashed across his face as he was brought back to the days when he was barely bigger than this curious little boy. “He was… stern. Carin’. We uhhh… looked out fer each other most days. Spent a lot of time together, aye? But one day…” He had to stop himself mid-sentence– he didn’t know if the boy had a concept of death yet or not. “One day he had to go away…”

“Do you miss him…?” Asked Nolas, leaning forward to gaze up into his eyes.

“Every day.”

“Will I meet him?”

“One day, lil’man. One day…”

Nolas didn’t ask anymore questions once he started playing the banjo again. All around them came the soft patter of raindrops striking the wooden pavilion and the grass, but neither of them seemed to notice; the boy was entranced by the music, and the man was just trying to focus on playing. Yet his mind wandered.

He was there when the boy was born. Pacing back and forth with Augusta outside of the clinic, he had never heard Coroh scream so loudly; when the screaming stopped, and they peeked in to check to make sure everything was okay, he was the third person to hold the baby. Nolas was barely the size of his hand then, but he was still loud enough to hurt his ears while he wailed and cried. Seeing him now, just over a year later, almost brought a tear to his eye. The boy was falling asleep with a full stomach, and slumped over to rest on his leg barely a few minutes into the song. 

He was a good kid, at least K’thalen hoped so. Seeing him wrapped in his blanket with his sippy cup in his lap was enough to make a grown man cry. Perhaps once his business with the Black Adders was over he could settle down and start a family; the prospect of having a son of his own was tempting enough… but was it the right choice? Broken people making broken people was not his intention, but he felt a little selfish believing he could potentially do better. The idea of a K’thalen Jr. around to teach how to fish, or how to step dance, was almost enough to make this cowboy want a son for himself.

1. who is the better cook?

him for sure, although neither of us are too big of a fan of cooking. i think he just tolerates it more than i do, although i do think there are some recipes he legitimately enjoys

2. who takes longer showers?

me. idk if its the adhd but i tend to forget how much time i spend in there and before i know it, he has to poke his head into the bathroom as a passive aggressive way of telling me that i stole all the hot water 😭

3. who is more organized?

him for sure. a point of contention with us is that i'm way too messy and it drives him through the roof. some boundaries had to be established and while it still makes him grumpy sometimes, he respects my space

4. who generally spends more money?

neither? technically me because if i get fixated on something, i'll tend to impulse shop but usually limit it to small-ish things or wait until they're on sale! he likes buying specialty teas and coffees and sometimes those can get kinda pricey, so i think we roughly break even

5. who likes sleeping in more?

hmm. i think this is difficult to answer because we both suffer from pretty bad insomnia. i think if it's who ends up sleeping in for longer, it's me. i'm the type that'll take like 4-5 hours to fall asleep but i can stay asleep once the sun rises (which is incredibly annoying) his insomnia is the type where he can get shut-eye for like 20 minutes at a time, which usually translates to him getting out of bed as soon as the sun starts to rise regardless of if he slept or not

6. who is the better driver?

im a passenger princess (✿◡‿◡) but also because driving gives me anxiety because i've gotten into accidents before, so he just does it for me, so it's levi for sure

7. who is the most stubborn?

hard to say. i think me. he usually gives in first because he gets way too irritated and is just like "whatever".

8. who is the most romantic?

neither 👁️👄👁️ at least not in the traditional sense. maybe me because i'm a sucker for romantic sunset walks (✿◡‿◡) but also him because sometimes he'll leave cute little notes around the house for me and it makes me melt (i have a little collection of them :3)

9. who is more laid back?

me. i think he's overall more extra or particular than i am. and this isn't in regards to him needing clean spaces. that's fine. i'm talking about the extra amount of work he constantly puts into every little thing, especially when it comes to house projects or even picking out toys for the cats. whereas i'm just kinda like...as long as it's not doing harm, convenience is king

10. who is more likely to ask for directions?

me. and it's a silly reason. like yes, i'm directionally confused a lot but i think levi would want to just. wander around and hope we get unlost and i'm not interested in doing that.

11. who is the blanket hog?

also me 😅 i get very fitful when my insomnia acts up, which usually translates into me wanting to hug something (why, you ask? no idea), whether it's him, a pillow, my plushie, or (in most cases), the blanket.

12. who is more likely to lose their phone?

him. he's technologically confused, which translates him to just not really using his phone unless he has to. it also means he's shit at answering texts on time >:(

13. who initiated the first kiss?

him because i was too shy 😅 i still thought it was some kind of joke as to why he was even interested in me, so i never really made a move.

hard to say. probably me since i was crushing on him forever, but he was the one that reached out and started stuff soooooo who knows

him, mostly? he decided what we wanted to do. he was very extra about it, wanting to make it worth our money and get like the maximum amount of r&r with the least amount of stress, which i lowkey appreciated sm 😭 i was the one that did all the booking and reservations tho lol

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

Ohhh what an interesting question! I think what I love most abt writing—why I still write even if it only results in unfinished wips—is… hm how to put this… an execution of an idea? Putting my own spin on a concept? Bringing smth to life from my mind and onto a page? Like I just love thinking about things, and writing gives me a way to share that w other ppl or put it into words, and that’s what’s best about it!

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

LOL uh the first definition that comes to mind for a piece of writing ‘haunting’ me is in the ‘god why did I write this’ sense, in which case I’d probably say my fanfic from my hetalia days……. A full ten years ago at this point…… But I’m also an advocate for not being ashamed of your writing no matter how old or cringy it is bc we all had to start somewhere right? And it still brought me joy at one point even if it doesn’t anymore, so I wouldn’t exactly say that it really does haunt me per se haha

The other sense of ‘haunting’ is probably ‘I think abt it a lot’ in which case—my wips haunt me. OTL

I do! Not as much (read: at all) anymore bc my friends and I have all diverged in terms of preferences and also physical location, but in high school, sometimes I’d even give my kindle acct in order to share ebooks haha.

But I’ve also always been a library person, and my physical collection is exceedingly small. I also don’t tend to reread anything? So I only buy books if there’s a reason I’d want to display it and/or come back to it. And it’s hard to lend books if you don’t own them haha. I would lend them if I had any though!

23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.

So. Most often I’m on my bed (full size, cheap, IKEA) and on top of my blankets (cheap, Amazon). I do most of my work in bed and lying down lol and also on my phone bc if I waited until I had my computer I would get nothing done. It’s probably either late at night or very early in the morning (bc I am unfortunately both a night owl and an early bird—no sleep for me!), so the light is rather dim. I have several larger stuffed animals w me on my bed (one is ice bear from CN, one’s a weighted dragon plushie, and one’s a really loooong shiba-dog-thing that’s probably close to my height) that I can prop my head up on or squash beneath me, depending on my mood. I also have an extra pillow to put against the wall for if I do decide to do anything while sitting up (currently cuddling it as I write this). A lot of what I own is a shade of blue or green. There’s a string of white Christmas lights around the wall next to my bed bc I can’t stand the brightness of the overhead light. Currently there’s a half-finished quilt rolled up beside me.

Really tho I write anywhere inspiration strikes me. Once I wrote a decent chunk while sitting in my car in the parking lot of a homegoods lol

29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?

Hm… my inspiration probably comes most often from other people! I had a ton of fun with all the sctir prompts I got a while back :) A lot of my favorite ideas that I’ve executed comes from putting a spin on an existing trope or concept, or from seeing smth around tumblr or twitter and wanting to write my own version.

My inspiration well runs dry very often, actually. I’m a huge binge-writer—most of what you see from me is stuff that I wrote within a couple days, which is why most of my fics tend to be short. I’m definitely not one of those ‘write a little bit every day!!’ kind of people—that would never work for me, and kinda drains my soul. Trust me I’ve tried lol (case in point: I managed to do an entire nanowrimo a couple years ago (the whole 50k!) and never touched or looked at that fic ever again. Was a fantastic exercise, but just not the way I work). Usually if I have an active wip, I do try to go back to it every couple days, just to make sure I don’t forget about it entirely haha. If I’m not actively working on an idea, I try not to let it bother me too much; the waiting is as much a part of my writing process as the actual writing. I’m all for making it easier for yourself—fanfic writing is a hobby, not a job, and I’m here for my own enjoyment more than anything else. I want to lean into it most when I’m happiest, yknow? :)

Bonus question for fun: 11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?

Yes absolutely!!! This isn’t to say that you should ruthlessly get rid of what you love most in your writing, but definitely don’t be too attached to every single word you write. The writing advice that I’ve found most helpful so far in my writing journey is: if you’re stuck in your writing, the problem isn’t with the current scene or paragraph, it’s what happened before. I’ve also had an English teacher suggest to us once that we should try rewriting something from memory to pare down to what’s most important (bc anything you don’t remember isn’t essential). I start over all the time if smth’s not working for me and I delete and go back if I get stuck. If I’m getting rid of smth that’s longer, I do try to keep it around or move it to a separate doc in case I need to use it later, or to try and incorporate into a different scene so that I’m not dropping it entirely, but I’ve found myself doing that less and less as I go. It’s annoying, maybe, but I don’t grieve haha

(ALSO the best part abt fanfiction is that even if a scene that you really love doesn’t work in the main sequence, you’re allowed to write spin offs and side stories and extra scenes as much as you want to lol. 1. Uta, as long as she isn't trying to trap everyone, it could make for a super fun show. And I don't need the stress of getting kicked out because of Brook asking to see people's panties.

2. I guess Zoro's bill since Luffy could eat an entire town's worth of food. But more than likely, it's gonna end up with me either washing dishes or trying to skip out on the bill because I'm broke 💔

3. I don't know much about Killer at this point since I'm still pre-timeskip, so I'm tempted to say him out of pure curiosity towards his character. I'm also more of a homey recipe type of person and Killer gives off that vibe. Plus, I hear he likes spaghetti, so we can compare recipes.

4. Roger because at least he won't crush the phone just trying to hold it.

5. Rayleigh. Going drinking with Shanks probably means partying all night with the whole crew, and I'm not much of a drinker in the first place, nor am I good with large groups of people. Just sharing a drink and chatting at Shakky's doesn't sound bad though.

6. Originally, I was going to say Nami. But the more I think about it, the more I realize Perona would be a dope shopping buddy. We both like cure things so we could go look at plushies somewhere and then loiter in hot topic. Plus, I'm less likely to be relegated as the bag carrier if Kumacy is still around 👌

7. Ask Smoker for the day off. Small talk is already painful enough, but awkward small talk is the absolute worst. Besides, Smoker seems tough and gruff, but he obviously cares about his people. Might be intimidating as hell, but the worst I'd expect in that situation is a gruff.

8. I've only known Bepo for Sabadoy Island, but I love this guy already. Let's have a nice chill time and make Law something to hopefully help with his sleep schedule. I do wonder about the implications of a bear building a teddy bear, though.

9. I actually just skipped my 10-year high school reunion, so going to someone else's sounds kinda fun.

10. I haven't actually met either of these characters, but I have read/heard enough about them to know either option isn't great. I guess I'll choose to marry Big Mom though. At least then I can adopt her kids and try to show them what a loving parental figure actually looks like.

11. Chick flicks with Koby for dayyyyys.

12. Drake. I'm currently still in Impel Down story wise and haven't gotten a chance to really meet Marco for more than a couple seconds. Plus, I'm standing by my current thought process of him being a high-ranking marine turned pirate is just shorthand for dino boy with a heart of gold until the series proves me otherwise.

13. Kidd. Boa wouldn't like me because I'm a man and I have a feeling Kidd would pick an outfit better suited for passing as masculine.

14. GTA with Ace. I'll get him out of town before Marineford can happen 🥲

15. Brush Buggy's hair. It's just so beautiful, you know this man uses only the finest products to maintain those luscious locks.

16. Gimme those extra limbs Robin, just think of how much faster prep work in the kitchen will go!

17. First, I need to know why Crocodile needs help with that when he can literally control the stuff at will. Sounds like somebody is just being an ass to be an ass 😒 But I'll go with cleaning as I have a couple of fragile items that are irreplaceable and I don't wanna play at that.

18. Shop with Franky, no doubt. He would have us build the coolest stuff you've ever seen!
