hypnosis : s2!rafe has to handle some guys that were talking down on his bambi.
warnings : lots of cursing, rafe beats a group of guys up, a little nsfw at the end (not a lot but soon!)
story type : fic / drabble !
a/n : i’ve reached 280 followers! this is so mind blowing to me, thank you all so much for all of the support! i’m so glad you guys are enjoying these! i love you all so very much! and also, bambi calling rafe ‘my hunter’ is canon and i won’t be told otherwise.🤍
(you get it cause she’s the deer and he’s the hunter.. yeah.)
rafe loved bambi, but of course he wouldn’t admit it (even though it’s painfully obvious) out loud to anyone besides her. and that ladies and gentlemen is the reason why he spoils to the fuck out of her, new shoes, new clothes, trips to the zoo to see her weird looking animals, and even getting her little beetle car wrapped in a pretty light brown per her mention.
and he’d be damned if anyone were to disrespect him or his girl.
well today was like any other friday for the almost couple, bambi has driven to the country club to meet rafe so she could watch him play some rounds of golf - or mostly for the free drinks and watching his muscles flex with each swing.. but who’s business other than hers is that?
and also like usual, rafe had some work to do and ordered bambi to meet him at the country club, get a little flute of champagne to keep herself occupied, and just kick back and wait for him to arrive.
and she would’ve done just that…
if she didn’t hear a group of guys laughing obnoxiously at her and rafe’s table. but here’s the kick, she heard rafe’s name flow so effortlessly out of their mouths. “ — right, man i’m telling you, she’s hot as fuck, rafe is a lucky man but shit is she making him soft.. i mean i asked him if he could grab me some stardust, and you know what he told me?”
“he told me ‘i don’t do that shit anymore, don’t want my bambi getting involved with that.’ he’s pussy whipped!” she had heard about ‘stardust’, but of course rafe had told her ‘not to worry her pretty little head about it’, “man that pussy must be magical, cause you can’t catch me quitin that shit for a quiet bitch. he needs to go back to fuckin’ the girls with the big tits and never gave a fuck!”
that’s what really set bambi off, what made the tears flow from her big bug eyes, what made her run out of the country club and into her small car, and before she can even start it up, she’s violently sobbing into her hands to the lowered sound of ‘Picture you’ by Chappell Roan (queen mama.)
yet even with her favorite music artist playing in the back, she can’t help but tune it out on her drive all the way back to her home in tanneyhill, just a few blocks down from rafes house where he’s probably still finishing up his work, but she can’t help but not pay attention to it - or the fact that he’ll probably blow up her phone within seconds of arriving at the country club.
and her prediction was right, once she’s already rushed into her house, took off her cute checkered dress, white sweater and uggs that rafe had bought her, her phone was blowing up with messages from rafe, but she knew his friends were right, she’s soft… she’s holding rafe back, and now she knows.
from ; my hunter🤍
i’m here baby.
i ordered you that red drink with the cherry and red shit.
don’t remember what it’s called lmfao.
where are you?
???
hello?
bambi?
where are you bambi?
seen just now
she watches with ease as the texts bombard her phone, yet she clicks the electronic closed, leaving rafe worried that something had happened to her on the drive to the country club. but she doesn’t really care, she wants to be left in her solitude with her tears.
bambi is sleeping peacefully when shes suddenly awoken by a warm pair of hands rubbing at her back, but she doesn’t move an inch - who the hell is inside of her house? “bambi? there you are kid,” oh, she recognizes the voice — it’s her favorite if she’s gonna be honest, rafe.
“hm..” she hums softly, “where the hell have you been bambi? was waitin’ for you.” he slides into the bed, even after she shrugs her shoulders “what’s goin’ on with you bambi?” - she doesn’t have an answer for him, which makes her feel sick to her stomach — she wants to tell him, she really does, but she just can’t find the words.
“i’m not good enough for you… i-im…” that sentence alone makes rafes heart quiver, “what the — the hell are you talkin’ about bambi? why the fuck are you sayin’ that shit?” he grabs her chin, forcing her eyes on his blues - and he feels absolutely defeated when he sees the red, puffy doe eyes that add to her features.
“i heard some boys at the country club talking… t-the guys you play golf with that one night…” rafe already knew where this was going, and he wasn’t happy about it.
at all.
“and they said that i made you soft… and that my pussy must be magical and that’s the only reason you’re with me…” his heart shatters into a zillion little pieces when the words leave her words, how could anyone ever say that about her? someone so sweet, and caring? “that’s… that’s not true baby, you know that.”
“i don’t rafe… they’re right — im not like the girls you’ve had before, they’re more..confident, a-and pretty. i’m just… me.” rafe is holding every physical bone in his body not to storm over to the country club and beat them all to a pulp. “listen to me bambi.” he takes her face in his hands, his signet ring cold against her skin - but she doesn’t seem to care when he’s looking at her like she’s the only girl in his eyes (she is.)
“you’re everything i want honey, i never would’ve talked to you if i didn’t think you were interesting, i love you, you. not any of the other girls before you. you’re perfect bambi, and i won’t let anyone tell you otherwise. and yeah, they’re right — that pussy is magical.”
“rafey! don’t say it like that!” she slaps his chest as they both laugh together - peace, they’re at peace. “wait…” she pauses, looking up at rafe once he pulls her into his lap, “you… you love me?” rafe simply looks up at her, leaning forward to kiss at her neck softly, “yeah bambi, i love you.”
“so does that mean… i’m your girlfriend?” rafe is confused for a minute, “i thought we were already dating bambi.”
a beat of silence rains over the two.
“you never asked me rafey! how was i supposed to know!” her well manicured nails, courtesy of rafe - scratching at the back of his head, she loves rafe, a lot.. and up until this moment, she was completely under the impression that they weren’t in a relationship..
although they do, do a lot of couple things… like rafe decorating the passenger seat of his truck to bambi’s liking, or — or whenever she’s cramping, he brings her a strawberry milkshake from the shady diner in the cut that he absolutely hates going to, but for his bambi - he’ll walk to hell and back if she asked.
so… maybe she did kinda know.. but that’s not the point!
“fine then bambi, will you make me the happiest and luckiest man alive and be my girl?” for a moment, there’s a beat of silence between the two, before bambi is suddenly crying. “shit baby - didn’t mean to make ya cry angel face.” of course, he’s quick to wipe the tears and catch her lips in his, loving the feeling of her trying to catch up with him.
“yes rafey! yes i’ll be your girlfriend!” she exclaims in between wet kisses, the lock to their newfound relationship —. “good cause i wasn’t takin no for an answer.” he’s quick to lean forward, kissing her plump pink lips with an exaggerated smack “now i can kiss you as boyfriend and girlfriend, no more friendly kisses.” the both smile like innocent children as bambi curls into his side, exhausted with the days she had (she woke up, got her nails done, and then went home and took a nap before going to the country club.)
“go to sleep my bambi, i’ll be right next to you in the morning honey.” he doesn’t even realize she’s already asleep until her nose is gently twitching cutely, a small habit he picked up on over the few months - he absolutely adores it, and he adores her, and now..
it’s time to find the dicks who made his girl cry.
the country club is getting emptier and emptier by the minute as the women getting tipsy with their girlfriends, and the men chugging down beers while golfing exit to return back to their homes in tanneyhill. but rafe, is just getting started.
hes immediately identifying the group of guys who made his bambi cry - some tall, bulky and not hot guys. psshh, this would be easy for him. “sup man.” he says as he approaches the group, placing a hand on one of their shoulders in a super non threatening way. “what’s up rafe! yo pogue, get my friend a drink!” rafe stops the guy; by the name of Jordan before he can call the pogue waitress over.
“nah nah, i’m not here to drink fucker.” rafe licks over his lips, his blood practically bubbling over through his seething anger. “i’m gonna tell you this once and you’re gonna fuckin listen yeah?” rafe says, grabbing jordan by the collar and lifting him right off of his chair. “you ever fuckin talk about my bambi like that again and i’ll sew your mouth shut. she may not be crazy but i am.”
rafe drops the shaking guy right into the glossy tile grounds of the country club, flicking the rest off as he turns away — making sure to whisper a snarky remark under his breath.
and the entire ride back to bambi’s, he can’t help but grin wildly because he knows bambi doesn’t know how truly crazy he is — and how willing he is to kill anyone who crosses her without her even knowing it.
a / n : hello there! i’m sorry for taking such a long leave, i’ve been going through some stuff but this is my apology! i hope you enjoyed this, and ill be getting into more writing!

… for the tiny tiger au. How about Wanda and Nat freaking out thinking that R got out. Which we did, we’re alone outside. But instead of running like they think we did, we found a baby fox and start poking it and what not to see if it’s alive (cause it’s sleeping) and thinking it’s cute we bring it back to mommy and mama who are in hysterics trying to find out where we went, only to turn when tapped to find us covered in mud/dirt presenting the new friend we have to them, wide eyed kan we eep em? Mommy mama pweeesss?
Nat and Wanda don’t know what to do side eyeing one another because they don’t want their baby to cry, but also. It’s a fox.
Muddy Buddies
Paring: Mommy!Wanda Maximoff x Little!Reader x Momma!Natasha Romanoff
Warnings: this is a dark AU, wandering off into the woods, finding a friend, fluff, heavy MD/LG, needles, rabies shots
A/N: This immediately reminds me of this video I saw where this kid found a raccoon and is crying because she can’t take him home 😭 Another small drabble for Into The Tiny Verse:) Also, I'm so sorry. I am so tired so if it sounds like a 10-year-old wrote this (my vocab sucks when I'm tired) then just- Idk bear with me here 😭
Your little self was none the wiser when an opportunity to go outside came up. You didn't have any intention of escaping from your new caregivers, all you wanted to do was go on an adventure with your lion! And when this opportunity came up, you took it.
Natasha had just returned from her trip to town, grocery bags in her arms. Usually, she was much better at keeping an eye on you when Wanda was busy, and when she didn't see you come running to the door to say hi to her, she figured you were asleep or with your mommy.
At this point, you were now a couple feet into the forest surrounding the cabin. Not wanting to scare your mommies, you never lost sight of the house. That is until a little hint of orange just a little further inside the trees caught your eye.
Your curiosity moved your feet closer to the unknown blob of color, and once you saw it you let out a soft gasp. Your hand covered your mouth and you moved just a little closer.
It was a baby fox!
Looking around, you grab a stick with some leaves still on it and you kneel down next to the still fox. Is it dead? Your head pushes. Why isn't the mother here? Another question you ask yourself. With the stick in your hand, you gently poke the soft bum of the fox. The animal twitches, and you jump in surprise. Dropping the stick, you crawl to it, not caring about the mud on your pants or hands.
The small fox squeaks, and opens her little eyes, looking up at you. However, it did not run away. Instead, she yawned and got up from her position on the muddy forest floor. She stretches and even approaches you. Carefully, you hold your hand out and you smile as the fox's wet nose sniffs your fingers.
"Aren't chu jus' the chutest ting?" You whisper, scratching the fox's chin. "Yous name is Butto! (Butter)"
Butter lets out a small whine and a raspy bark, and you pick her up. She looks around as you stand up with her, and she slightly starts to struggle. You hold her comfortably tight, and you walk quickly back to the cabin.
Upon entering the cabin once again, you hear your mommies' worried voices. They shouldn't be worried... I'm right here! They don't hear you come in through the front door, too focused on reviewing the camera footage from outside of the warm abode. The two women don't even hear you enter their office!
Holding Butter and Leo (your lion) in one arm, you gently tap Wanda's shoulder to get her attention with the other hand. Her head snaps to the side, her eyes widening when she sees you. "Tiny! Oh my- Oh, and tiny's friend..." She says with a hesitant laugh, pulling her hands away from your muddy self and your muddy friend.
You tilt your head at her reaction to you but shake it off to ask the more important question at hand. You look up at the woman with doe eyes, "kan we eep em? Mommy mama pweeesss?" Wanda and Nat look at each other, surprised to say the least, but not wanting to hear you cry if they take your friend away.
"Who- uh- who is this, little one?" Natasha says, looking down at the fox in your arms.
"Her name Butto'" You say nonchalantly, as if it was just a new stuffed animal.
"Butter?" Wanda confirms and looks at her wife, eyes wide and asking for some type of support. Natasha can’t help but chuckle, and she kneels down in front of you.
“Tiny, I know this little one looks like a friend, but these little guys are tedious. They aren’t very friendly,” Nat frowns, starting to take the fox from your arms.
“Nnnnooooo! No she fren, mama, she nice,” you protest, pulling yourself away from the woman. “She tan stay wif me in m’room, and she can snuggle wif us!”
Wanda and Natasha devise a plan to get the little fox away from you and back to its mother, and they do that by putting you outside with Butter. In the backyard of course.
Butter in fact wasn’t nice. She scratched you, bit you, and made you cry, but your intentions on keeping her never wavered. Your little brain was just seeing another friend, and that’s all you thought this little fox was.
Wanda offered you a deal. “How about we make a trade?” She asks with a smile. “How about I take Butter, and you take Pancakes?” Your mommy pulls a plush fox from behind her back, and you tilt your head. “Just like you need mommy to take care of you, so does little Butter, and we need to get her back to her mommy.” Wanda says, and you start to understand.
“Butter has mommy too?” You ask, tears forming in your eyes at the thought of being taken away from your caretakers. Wanda nods softly and takes Butter from your hands.
“Yeah, so let’s get her back to her home and we can play with Pancakes all night. How does that sound?” Wanda asks you, finally pulling the baby fox from your scratched up hands.
Natasha had contacted Bruce Banner. He may be a human doctor, but he knows where this little fox can go to get real care. He even said that you and your mommies could visit her too! While Wanda held you in her arms, Natasha was distracting you while Bruce gave you a few rabies shots, and a few other vaccines to help you stay healthy after touching a wild animal.
You were not a fan of needles, and the two women knew that.
As you waved goodbye to Bruce and Butter, you sighed softly. “Butto’ sc’atched me,” you sniffle, looking down at your hands that now stung.
“Oh honey, it’s ok, let’s go get you cleaned up for dinner, ok?” Wanda says, picking you up bridal-style and taking you to the bathroom to wash up.
Once your bath was finished, Wanda bandaged your hands and arms and got you all warmed up in your pjs. After dinner, your mommies kept their promise and you played with your new (fluff-filled) friend until you fell asleep!
“We need to watch her carefully…” Natasha chuckles, stroking her knuckle over your sleeping face.
Wanda nods, “Agreed!”

4. In my defense, I have none
Bucky Barnes x Reader (AU)
TW: Talk about miscarriage. illusion to smut.
A/N: Written in Third POV. No use of Y/N. However, the reader is referred to as a female.
If you can't tell already, this chapter is heavily influenced by Folklore by Taylor Swift. I used so many song lyrics throughout the chapter. Lmk if you found them all.
PS: it's folklore. Get ready. Also, I'm NOT defending Bucky
Likes, comments, reblogs are VERY VERY highly appreciated. Opinions really matter to me

You should have never let it reach here. It should have been just a one-time thing. A mistake. A slip.
However, you found yourself stuck in this dilemma more times than you wanted.
After that day in the house, it happened more frequently. Whenever the kids were asleep. If the kids were having a sleepover at either of their aunts or uncles. Even as far as when the kids were at school.
Both of you were missing each other too much. It was making up for lost time. All the time, you should have been holding each other, but you weren't even talking.
The fire between you was burning flames. Not caring, it might burn you instead.
You were happy to have a part of him back. Every time, you would tell yourself, This is the last. Yet you would fall in bed with him.
And he wasn't helping at all. Saying all the things you want to hear. Fulfilling all your needs Knowing exactly how to get you so pouty in his hands.
"You're doing so good for me, doll."
"Look at you. So beautiful and pretty."
"The best mama, my woman."
"Mine. All mine."
All the stuff you so desperately missed from him
And it wasn't just this. Every time you were done, he wouldn't leave right away. From the first time, he would stay for a bit longer. Holding you. Cuddling you to his chest Drawing circles on your skin Praising you.
He satisfied every need you had. The need to be touched. The need to be loved. The need. to be taken care of. The need to be with him.
Despite not having any real conversation about your current situation, you fooled yourself into thinking that it was Bucky's way of telling you to start over. That he always belonged to you.
It was just so pretty to think that all along there were some invisible strings tying you to him.
However, whenever your mind took control again, you would see how messed up the situation was. You were divorced for a reason. He didn't want you anymore. So why were you keeping his bed warm?
That is why every time you said you would stop, you would reserve some of your dignity. You would end it, but he would show up and look at you like you had hung the moon and the stars. You would fall again.
Bucky didn't know any better either. Letting his feelings take over. His primal need to have you be his
He was aware of how selfish he was. But the reason he left was never you. He never stopped loving you. He could never stop loving you. He would die for you in secret.
Would it be enough if he could never give you peace?
This predicament was what led you right where you are. lying on his chest after he tore your body apart at his new apartment. Rebecca, Bucky's sister, planned a trip for her kids and yours. You suggested tagging along, but she refused, telling you that you needed the break. She didn't think you would spend your break with her brother.
If you closed your eyes right now, you could imagine what would happen if nothing had changed. Bucky was still your husband. Your man. The intimacy was so familiar. The feeling of his arms around you and his breath over your face, the soft kisses on your hair Your own little heaven
The buzzing of the phone scattered your peaceful bubble. Bucky reached for his phone, and a little laugh erupted from him. You shouldn't have asked him about it. Nothing could have prepared him for his next words.
"Clint is making sure I won't stand this girl he has been so bent over setting up together."
The blood ran cold in your vessels. Dreed filled your body. You could hear the sound of your heart breaking into a million pieces.
Have you really meant so little to him?
Bucky was the love of your life, and he was planning dates while you laid with him. How did it get here?
Bucky had the audacity to pull you closer to him after putting his phone down. With what little is left of your dignity. You pushed him and got up to dress up and leave. Every fiber in your being was begging you to crawl on the bed and cry, but now wasn't the time.
"Where are you going?" Bucky asked, confused about the change in mood. He wanted to hold you a bit more.
"I'm leaving. So you could get ready for your date." You were proud of yourself for disguising the bitterness in your voice. You had shown him enough.
"It's not until 7 in the evening." The audacity was infuriating. Is he acting stupid, or is he really clueless?
You couldn't be in the same room with him anymore. You took your bag and rushed to the front door.
"Doll, what's wrong?" He followed you and reached for your arm, but you moved away quickly.
"Nothing. Have fun on your date." This time you couldn’t help it.
"C'mon, doll. I'm just going for Clint. I already plan to tell her it won't work." This was your last straw.
"And why won't it work?" You turned to him, hurt in your eyes and venom lacing your voice.
"Because you're sleeping with your ex-wife and your kids' mother." The pain was too much for you to stay quiet for longer.
"Well, in that case, you should try to make it work because it's not happening again." You finally said it.
"Wait. Why?." Bucky never wanted this to stop. He didn't want to lose you. Again.
"Can't you really see what's wrong here? Do you really think what we are doing is normal?" You couldn't believe him. Is he that delusional?
"But I want you." It was the truth. But it was a harmful one.
"You want me, or do you want to keep sleeping with me?" The question, which you tried so hard to keep at the back of your brain, rushed into your words.
"Of course not. I only ever wanted you." Bucky never meant for you to doubt yourself. His actions weren't helping, but his intentions were to never hurt you.
"You left me."
"Not because I stopped loving you."
"And that's way worse."
You were finally having this conversation. The one you delayed for so long
"You left because you got bored. The role of the husband got too much for you."
"And how do you expect me to believe you loved me when everything tells me you were going to leave anyway?."
"I wasn't. I just couldn't do it anymore. I thought I was able to get over my old issues and keep going, but I couldn't."
"You couldn't talk to me. Couldn't reach out. Couldn't try to figure out a way to solve it. No, you chose to walk out on me because you couldn't commit anymore. Yet here we are. Look at us."
"Because I can't let go."
"But you can divorce me."
Bucky had no answer to this. His commitment issues got the better of him. He shouldn't have married you in the first place if he was going to leave anyway. He shouldn't have promised to stay forever and then walked away. And he was aware of it all. He could hear it all. But nothing could have prepared him for your next words.
"I was pregnant."
It fell from your tongue. It's so hard to say. So hard to listen. But he had to know. He had to know the sacrifices you made for him.
"I was so happy. I thought this was our chance to mend what was broken. And I didn't even know what was broken. When I went to tell you, you said you were busy and left. When you came back. You didn't even bother to ask me what I wanted."
"I thought you learned to read my mind. You noticed nothing. Not the morning sickness. Not the fatigue. Not the mood swings. Not my first trimester meal. Nothing. I gave so many signs. You didn't even see the signs."
"So when you brought out the divorce, I agreed. I was so hurt."
Bucky didn't want to believe you. He knew he was distant in the last months of your marriage. But was he really that bad? To the point he couldn't hear his wife's distress calls? He was so focused on his own problems that he almost neglected your presence. The only person who truly loved him
"If you had told me, I..."
"You would have stayed. Because you got tired of being a husband and not a father. You would have stayed for the kids, but you would have hated me. We would have been miserable. I had to make the choice. I had to choose for my kids to have a good father over anything."
It was no surprise how selfless you were. Choosing him and the kids over yourself was second nature to you.
"I was going to tell you after the divorce. I was going to tell you that I just found out. So even if you asked, I would turn down getting back together."
"But the pain was too much. The stress of losing my husband The self-doubt. There were too many questions I didn't have answers to. Along with the act that I was fine with the divorce. It was so hard. I lost it."
Maybe if you had told him, it wouldn't have happened. You will never know. And it will always haunt you.
All you knew was that either way, you weren't going to win.
"I had to go drop the kids off at Nat's first before going to the hospital all by myself. I couldn't call anyone because no one knew, and the last thing I wanted was fake sympathy."
"You know what I needed, my husband. I got back to an empty house. I had to get through this all by myself. Alone. "
"I wanted you to hold me. Let me cry. Let me grieve. I needed you. And you weren't there. I had to pick up the pieces because the kids needed their mother. And I did."
Bucky's heart was shattered by how much you suffered because of him. Because he let his fears control him. Hurting the person he cherished the most. Damaging the only real thing he ever had. Your marriage.
"I tried so hard to hate you. Only remember the agonizing pain. You left me broken and bitten. You, the love of my life. The man I have ever loved. You, who drew stars around my scars, and now, I'm bleeding. "
"But the moment you touched me, it was all down the drain. You are all I ever wanted. I forgot about it all."
"Every time I say this is the last time, then I still come back to you. I love you too much to have common sense."
"I convinced myself we were changing for the better. Wanting was enough. For me, it was enough. To live for the hope of it all. Maybe there is a chance for us."
"I was wrong."
"You had me wishing you were a bad father, so you would've abandoned all of us. You had me wishing you stopped caring for the kids so I could hate you. So I can stop seeing you. You had me wishing pain on my own kids. Because I can never understand how you can be such a good dad but so afraid of being a husband."
"Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me. Look at this idotic fool that you made me."
At this point, you were in a hysterical state. Tears running down your face. Sobs shake your body. Your fists collide with his bare chest. letting your anger out with the crushing pain. The last four months are finally showing. The hurt you have kept inside is out in the open.
You couldn't fight anymore. You rested your head on his chest as you sobbed. Mourning your broken heart
He hesitated to wrap his hands around you. Letting both of your tears mix together. The fact that he was the reason for your breakdown killed him.
His hold felt like a cage. Keeping you trapped because you can't let go either. You would never be free.
You stood there for a while until your sobs became sniffles. You broke from his grasp, looking at him with your puffy red eyes.
"The kids deserve better than this. They deserve the best parents. And that's where we are now. Parents. Nothing more."
You walked to the front door. You turned to look at him. Silently begging him to say something. Do something. But you got nothing. And that was it.
If your feelings for each other were too strong to handle, too complicated to solve, too damaging to save, then you never stood a chance to exist again.
Now, both of you dream of some epiphany. Just one single glimpse of relief. To make some sense of what you've seen
"See you next weekend." You said this as you closed the door behind you.
You left Bucky to face the consequences of his actions. He wanted to leave. So you left. Here, he pushed the only person who ever mattered to him. The person who loved him to the moon and to Saturn
How could he let his stupid mind get him here? He let his insecurities take over. How self-centered did he have to be for this to happen? Ruining his family and his world just for the sake of himself And he wasn't even miserable. He got into his own head. Dark thoughts that pushed him here. Thinking he couldn’t commit anymore, when all he ever needed was always going to be you.
With tears streaming down his face, all he could think about was how he got here. Why did he become the villain? His mind was running thousands of miles a second.
I didn't have it in myself to go with grace
And so the battleships will sink beneath the waves
You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same
Cursing my name, wishing I stayed
You turned into your worst fears
And you're tossing out blame, drunk on this pain
Crossing out the good years
And you're cursing my name, wishing I stayed
Look at how my tears ricochet

Short skirt (sugar mama Lin Beifong x sugar baby reader)
Minors just go away 🤣
Lin takes her favorite girl shopping and things get a little spicy when they get home. Also special guest Asami and Korra are here 💖 (I’m tempted to do an Asami cosplay I feel like 1. Id look hot asf and 2. My bf would be drooling)
“This is the eighth store love.” Lin said with a sigh. “I'm not leaving till I find a short skirt in my size.” I said. “Do you really need it?” Lin asked. I turned away from the rack and looked at Lin. “Summer is starting and I’m not gonna just wear shorts and dresses all summer. I need more in my closet.” I told her. “You mean my closet.” Lin said. I glared at her while she smirked. “You know I can always go back to my old apartment building.” I said and stuck out my tongue. Lin gently grabbed my face and squeezed my cheeks. “That’s not our arrangement.” Lin said.
I shrugged. I’m chief Beifong’s sugar baby and we agreed that I live with her, go on dates, help her keep the house clean, make lunch for her and of course have sex with her. I can’t complain because I get shopping trips and anything else I want. I get shown off as if I’m her girlfriend but I’m not. I’m just her sugar baby nothing more nothing less but I won’t lie I enjoy my time with Lin a lot. Lin let go of my face and I went back to looking for skirts. I felt like I was looking for hours. I mean I have been but now I’m just over it! I’ve been finding a lot of other cute things that I of course I picked up but still not what I’m looking for.
I’m gonna lose my mind. “Come here.” Lin said and dragged me over to a table. I looked at the table and they were full of skirts. I scanned the skirts and picked up a few. Lin grabbed a black one and handed it to me, I took it from her. Reading the tag it said it was mine and I pulled at it to see if it stretched and it did but not by a lot but more than enough for me. I let Lin hold it for me while I grabbed a few more in different styles. When I was done we made our way to the register. Lin paid for everything of course and we definitely don’t need to talk about how much money was spent.
As we made our way out the store I saw Asami and Korra. Korra was holding a lot of bags. I assume they are on a shopping trip like us. “Asami!” I called. Asami turned her head to my direction and she smiled real big. “Hey!” She shouted. We ran to each other and hugged. “I’m glad I caught you, I’m having a party next week. You guys have to be there.” Asami said with a big smile on her face. “Of course we’ll be there.” I told her. Asami and I continued to talk some more. “I see you got sucked into a shopping trip as well.” I heard Korra say to Lin. Lin just huffed. “The things we do for love.” Korra said.
Asami laughed at Korra’s comment. “You know I love you very much.” Asami told Korra then gave her a kiss. I felt a slight twinge in my heart. Korra and Asami love each other more than anything and everything they do is out of love and yes I’m jealous. I can’t help it. “We should go to lunch.” Asami said and grabbed my hand. “We should.” I agreed. “I know that’s not a badger mole stuffed animal hanging out your bag.” Korra teased. “Oh hush leave me be.” I said. “Aww that’s so cute, I need to find a polar bear dog stuffed animal.” Asami said. “You should! It would be so cute for you to have.” I said.
Asami looked at Korra. “It’ll be our baby.” Asami laughed. I gasped and looked at Lin. “No.” Lin said. “Yes, this badger mole is our baby and we have to figure out a name for her.” I told Lin. Lin sighed. “What restaurant are we eating at? I'm starving over here.” Korra told us. “Oh right umm where do you guys wanna go?” I asked. “We’re going to the noodle shop near my job.” Lin said and grabbed my hand to drag me away. “See you guys there!” I called as Lin dragged me away. Once the bags were put in the backseat we got into the car and I sat in the passenger seat.
“Thank you for taking me shopping.” I said sweetly then kissed her cheek. “You’re welcome hon.” Lin told me as she started up her car. As Lin drove she kept her hand on my thigh, sometimes she drew little circles or just rubbed my thigh. She gave me butterflies and I loved it. Every touch made my heart melt. I kept stealing glances at Lin. “What is it love?” She asked me. “Nothing, just looking at your beautiful face.” I said. She just smiled. She’s just so hot. I looked away because I could feel myself getting horny. I don’t know what it is about this woman but she drives me crazy.
Lin parked outside the shop then got out of the car, I unbuckled myself while she walked over to my side. She opened the door for me and helped me out. “Thank you baby.” I said. Lin nodded and held my hand. We entered the little shop and saw Korra and Asami waiting at a table. “I’m surprised we beat you guys here.” Asami said. “You know Lin has to drive the speed limit.” I teased. “Maybe you need to start driving.” Korra said. “I’m a passenger princess, I don't drive.” I said. “I’ll teach you.” Korra said. “Absolutely not.” Lin said sternly.
“Oh come on, Lin , I'm an excellent driver.” Korra said. “You drive eighty miles per hour.” Lin said. “I’ll teach you.” Asami said. “You ran over Mako.” Lin said. “I apologized.” Asami said. I laughed. “Then you teach her.” Korra said. “I’m too busy.” Lin said. “I feel like she’d yell at me a lot.” I said. “Oh yeah she definitely will.” Korra said. “Did you figure out a name for your baby?” Asami asked. “No, what do you think I should name her?” I asked. “Name her noodle.” Korra suggested. “No name her tea.” Asami said. I gasped. “I got it! Her name is Detective Tofu Noodle.” I said.
“I love that.” Asami gushed. “Detective?” Lin asked. “Do you have a problem?” I asked. “I’m just confused on how your little badger mole became a detective.” Lin said. “She’s our daughter and she just wants to be like her big brother Mako.” I said. “Stop saying Mako is my son.” Lin sighed. “Ok but he’s called you mom like three times and you didn’t get upset.” Korra said. “Exactly.” I said. Lin rolled her eyes. When it came time to order I let Lin order for me. She knows what I like and I just like her taking control like this.
After our lunch double date we went home and I decided to try on the black skirt Lin picked out. I slipped it on and it fit perfectly. “Wow.” I said. I went out to the living room to show Lin. “Baby look,” I stood in front of her. “You look good.” Lin told me as she looked me up and down. “I’m gonna go try on the others.” I said as I turned around and walked back to the room. Before I could grab another skirt I felt a hand grab my ass. “Lin.” I gasped. “Take these off.” Lin said as she reached under my skirt and started to pull down my underwear. I helped her take off my panties.
I reached to take off my skirt but Lin stopped me. “No, keep that on.” She told me. I raised a brow. “On the bed, ass up.” Lin commanded. I did as told and as soon as I got into position I felt my skirt go up and then a harsh slap on my ass. I let out a loud moan. “Spread your legs some more.” Lin told me. Once my legs were spreaded more Lin’s tongue swiped at my folds. “Mmm baby.” I let out a soft moan. As she ate me out she spanked me. “Oh fuck Lin.” I whined out.

I will always need you my love.

Type: hurt and comfort, fluff, fluff and more fluff.
Triggers: a small panic attack but nothing else.
Masterlist!
------------------------------------------------------------
My little sister Rose was my entire life. I spent my entire life keeping her safe and doing anything she needs from me. My mom was there as well I suppose but this little girl was my entire world.
I was sitting in her room watching her play with her barbies, having taken a break from her endless game. She looked up at me with a massive pout making me raise her eyebrow at her. “Yes peanut?”
“I’m hungryyyyyyyyyy…” She whined playfully making me laugh.
“So lets go get something to eat then!” I said excitedly making her laugh. I stood up and scooped her up placing her on my hip. She instantly wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck leaning her head on my shoulder. “What does my princess want?”
“Your mac and cheese!!!” She said bouncing slightly in my arms, I walked down the stairs telling her a story about a princess, I then placed her on the counter after grabbing everything I needed from around the kitchen and put a hand on her leg as I started cooking her favourite food in the world. I grabbed my phone and connected it to the wireless speaker around the house and put on her favourite playlist, which is currently compiled of mostly Encanto, Frozen, and most classic Disney movies. I stirred the pasta into the boiling water and watched as she did a little dance sitting on the counter.
We both turned and smiled as our mom walked into the kitchem, putting her bag on the island before walking over to us. She placed a kiss on my head then smothered Rose with kisses. “Mac and Cheese?” She asked motioning to the ingredients laid out. “Let me guess, the princess requested it?”
I laughed and nodded leaning against the counter. “She’s just so cute!” I said looking at the 4 year old now clinging to our moms hand as she played with her rings. “I can’t say no to her. Anyways, we need some groceries so I figured I would take her to the store after we eat, a little trip before bedtime.”
“You don’t have to baby. I can do that if you want.” Scarlett said with a soft smile towards me. “Or we could all go together?” The smile on my face grew and both of us instantly started nodding. “I’ll take that as a yes!”
“I love shopping with mama and sissy!!” Rose said bouncing on the counter, mum placed her hands on her knees to keep her from bouncing off the counter. “I know princess.”
I smiled softly as I stepped away to finish the food before putting it in bowls and the three of us sat at the table and ate. After we finished, mum took rose upstairs to get ready and I cleaned up from dinner before grabbing my shoes and jacket. I looked out the window and saw mums car already gone, my heart sank. I know she loves me but sometimes she gets so focused on Rose, she forgets that I also exist. I felt tears well up in my eyes and I slowly made my way to the couch, sliding down to be curled up against the arm rest, my knees pulled up to my chest.
I must have fallen asleep because I woke up around an hour later to the door opening and Rose screaming. I jumped up, forgetting I had been crying and ran towards the door to find Rose, red in the face, slumped on the floor screaming. I quickly moved forward and scooped her up. She thrashed around for a few minutes before realizing it was me and her arms wrapped around my neck and her screams turned into sobs into my neck.
“Y/n?” I heard my moms voice making me look up at her before quickly turning on my heel and made my way to Rose’s room. I took her jacket and shoes off and had her calm and curled up in my arms on her bed. I rubbed her back as she sniffled.
“What happened princess?” I murmured into her dirty blonde hair, she pulled her head out of my neck and looked up at me, her red and tear stained face breaking my heart.
“Mama forgot you… I sleep and mama no bring you to store…” She muttered making my eyes well up. I quickly swallowed the lump that reformed in my throat at the thought of my mother forgetting about me yet again and I quickly smothered her in kisses.
“It’s okay rosie… I was really sleepy anyways so I had a nap.” I said smiling at my baby sister, she sniffled and nodded before burying back into me. “Why don’t we get you in the bath and in bed. I’ll sing you, your song tonight okay?” she nodded excitedly and with a real amile on her face, she ran to the bathroom that joined our rooms together. I followed quickly and ran her a bath. I helped her take her clothes off and she climbed into the tub.
With a little help from me, she got her body washed then I washed and conditioned her hair before rinsing it out. I sat back and let her play for a little before I picked her up in her fluffy towel and took her back into her room. We got her changed into her pyjamas and I brushed her hair out and put it into two French braids. She laid down in her bed and I tucked her in before singing to her.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey, you’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away.” I sang to her, my raspy voice putting her to sleep almost right away. I kissed her head and turned towards her door to see my mom standing there, tears running down her face. I shot her a look before quietly going through our bathroom and closing my door as I walked into my room. My mom was stood at my main door when I got in.
“I’m not in the mood…” I muttered sitting on my bed pulling my phone out.
“I need-“
“No. You don’t get to do anything…” I cut her off shooting her a glare. She took a breath and nodded, closing her eyes. “You forgot me again. Mom you forgot all about me! It was my idea to bring her to the store and we talked about it over dinner!”
“You need a break…” She said quietly making me look up at her. “I see what you do for your sister y/n. I see how much you do for me. It’s not fair. You’re 17 years old, you shouldn’t be raising your sister but I’m always so busy that I just let you do it. I love you baby… I won’t let you do this alone anymore…” My eyes widened at hearing her words and as she turned around, I threw myself on her back hugging her tightly from behind. She managed to turn in my arms and pulled me closer to her.
“I never ever meant to make you feel like I don’t care about you or that I forgot about you. I thought you wouldn’t enjoy doing things with me anymore because you’re a teenager. That you don’t need me anymore. You’ve always been so independent but you are still my baby. My first born, and I’m so sorry ever made you feel less than.”
I just sobbed into her neck, one hand going up to wrap my fingers in her hair, the other clinging to the back of her shirt, afraid to let go. “I’ll always need you mama…”
She rubbed my back, her other hand, scratching my scalp, something that always calmed me down. She picked me up and carried me over to my bed. She pulled me into her lap and smothered my head in kisses. “And I will always need you love.”

Meet me in the South
(Subaru Sakamaki/American!FemaleReader)
Word Count: 3.5k
Summary: Reader begs Subaru to escape.
Notes: This might just be like the introduction to the story? There’s no major plot points and more of just a feel. Also shoutout to @fangsforiris for creating the beautiful moodboard above!!!
I’ve dreamed since I was four years old
That the house is slowly on fire
And I can’t get you to leave it
—Alice Notley, In the Pines
————————————————————————
The weather back where I lived was blazing and relentless, the sun would cast an unbearable warmth and all I could do was sit inside, sighing while hoping my ride to the pool would be here soon enough. My hair was always frizzy from the humidity and skin burned a bright red, I had also developed white lines running along my back from the overused swimsuit I wore every trip to the pool.
My last memory of being there was of walking down the road to the convenience store with my friend. We grabbed a couple of cokes and sat on the park bench talking about what my life in Japan would be like. She claimed I was the one who had finally gotten out of the old, small town life. When I gave her my last goodbye, I felt the twinge in my heart knowing it would be a while before I could talk to her like this again. With the warmth clinging to us, to our bodies. At the airport the choking feeling just grew, my mama drove me, she was silent the whole way but when we arrived she eventually started talking.
”You’re sweating bullets, have you been wearing the lotion the doctor gave you?”
”Yes, but it doesn’t really work that well. I’ve been applying it more than often.”
“Maybe you aren’t applying it like you’re supposed to, it says on the package counter clockwise—make sure to rub counter clockwise!”
“Mama, it’s okay, I hear where I'm moving to, it's cold anyways.. “
My mom looked at me and gave me a sad smile, the wrinkles on her cheeks made my heart throb, I also wouldn’t be able to see those wrinkles till I came back.
”You’re nervous, aren’t you? It’s going to be okay,”
”Yeah, a little—I'm okay though, It’s gonna go away when I'm settled over there, I hope.”
She squeezed my shoulders and took a deep breath,
”Smell the air one last time, maybe it’ll calm you.”
I took a breath of the air around me, I could smell strong gas leaking from the taxis, freshly cut grass and the yeast smell from the bread factory I would drive past everyday to and from school.
“You’re safe here mama, I feel a bit better though.. I'll be back soon, just gotta finish my studies… When I'm back, I’ll take you to get some ice cream.”
I could see the tears in her eyes form, she pulled me into a tight embrace—It was short but it eased my nerves for the duration of the trip. My mom didn’t like to cry in front of me, but I guess it was one of those times it was acceptable to. I pulled away and gave her one last look,
“I have to go now, I have everything—don't worry, bye mama.” I kissed her on the cheek before reaching for the handle of my suitcase, “Ice cream, mama.” I smiled before walking away to my gate. That was the last time I talked to my mama.
When I arrived in Japan, people stared—a lot. I could feel their eyes judging me, they definitely knew I was an American. Who could blame them though? My appearance didn’t help my case either: My skin was red and tan as opposed to the glossy paleness over here. My hair was also crazy from sleeping on the plane, and I was in pajamas. I struggled to walk in the airport without getting bumped into for more than a couple of seconds, everyone was moving so fast I couldn’t keep up, back home everyone was more relaxed, but there really wasn’t anywhere to go. The drivers refused to take me to the address that apparently was in the middle of nowhere, I bet you they also thought I didn’t have any money. Eventually, an older man agreed to drive me the hour long way, I thanked him profusely and tipped him a generous amount after. I shouldn’t have thanked him, he probably worked for them. I didn’t realize the danger I was stepping into then. I believe that was the last time I was truly happy— I smiled, laughed, and imagined what my life here would be like the entire plane ride. Now, I want to go back to that very moment and tell myself to run—as far as she can and fast.
Introductions were far from conventional: Instead of my host greeting me, a young blonde girl named Yui—who’s eyes were so red I could feel my arms forming goosebumps, welcomed me with open arms. She had this anxious demeanor about her which should’ve alarmed me, and then there they were, all six of the brothers residing in the entry hall. The only one that really stood out to me was the pale, silver haired man in the back who’s face seemed to always be locked in that scowling, annoyed expression—again, with the blazing red eyes.
I attempted to focus on my studies but after the realization they were indeed vampires, it was hard.
Eventually winter break, the relief for everyone in the household had finally arrived—the brothers spent it like normal. Subaru and Ayato were fighting like always, Reiji was still annoyed with Shuu and the triplets wouldn’t give Yui up. No one really bothered me, unless it was to bleed me and I had gotten used to being alone in my room doing whatever I could to keep busy, I took comfort sitting on the alcove in my room, watching the endless amount of flakes fall from the sky. They fell so gracefully—like they were dancing, but I forgot what it felt to be like that. Laying next to the window also reminded me of the time when my friends would fling pebbles at the panes, waking me up earlier then needed on a summer day just to go run off to the community pool, and to get a couple of cokes for the walk back home—I would always forget to bring a towel so my sandals would squeak loudly when I strolled back home on the pavement, in that hot summer town, I dreamt of when I rested my head against the now still, freezing panes.
“You’re always sitting there, looking so helpless.”
It was Subaru, the brother everyone avoided because he was just too aggressive. For being so strong, he sure had soft features: His hair was like a white rose, the cleanest pick from the bouquet, he stood tall and composed, and his eyes were like early picked cherries, not ripe, but still so red and bright. He was hungry. I started to pick up on that glint in their eyes whenever they were hungry: Their eyes normally had that abnormal gloss that stole all reflection from light near, but when they were hungry—all signs of that were gone. Beautiful orbs were dulled and fogged with their lust for blood or just to satisfy their sadistic needs. The first time one of them tried to feed from me, it was him. He was angry I didn’t comply, leading to purple bruises forming around my wrists that ached for days.
“I like sitting here, it's comfortable.”
“Tch, you know what I’m here for, you should hurry up and get over here so I can get this over with,”
He glared at me from the door with his arms crossed waiting for me to come to him, I knew standing my ground wouldn’t help so I just obeyed him. I hesitated but eventually took step after step to meet him, I unbuttoned my shirt down just above my bra.
“It’s no fun when you don’t fight back…” He grabbed my hair in his fist whilst tilting my head to the side. “I’m too thirsty to complain though.” My heart beat would just race whenever he was with me, him. Just him, feeling his tongue travel on my neck would send shivers I hadn’t previously known of. Even to the sound of his fangs digging into my neck, I wasn’t used to being held so closely by someone—much less a man.
“You’re.. enjoying this? Of course you are, I should’ve expected this… Nn…” My knees were beginning to buckle under my weight, my entire body felt numb I couldn’t see straight—or think.
“Subaru—I think that’s enough..” I placed my hand on his shoulder,
“Damn it! Just let me fucking have this,” The grip on my hair became stronger, he was tugging on it with an even greater strength.
“It h-hurts Subaru!” I pushed against him once more causing him to grab both of my arms,
“I won’t let them get to you—from now on you’re mine.” The grip on my hair eventually loosened, my heart was racing and I looked into his eyes, they weren’t back to that abnormal gloss though: His eyes were still foggy but this time with rage— or sadness, I couldn’t tell.
“The fucks that look for? Tsk, I’ll make sure everybody in the house knows that you’re my property now, and you have no say.” Subaru always dragged that sad presence around him no matter where he roamed, sitting alone on the rooftop, when he stared at Yui smiling with Shuu. Right now I didn’t feel that sadness, instead I could feel him shaking from anger, the anger everyone in the house avoided but I had just gotten myself caught into. Causing me to get pinned down on the hardwood flooring of my room, getting bit over and over again that night.
Later, when I had gotten one of those rare moments to speak with Yui, she told me Ayato convinced everyone for a darts game. Shuu had won the prize—Her and all the brothers watched Shuu bite her to mark his territory, including Subaru. Yui told me she saw Subaru storm out the back door when Shuu sank his fangs into her neck. Yui had been claimed by the vampire who could care less about titles, or existing, she was claimed by a dead man—with no lust for life, instead a hatred for the world he was born into.
“He came into my room, I suppose after, and he just… bled me dry that night. It just feels.. Wrong, I feel something is changing.” I paused for a moment,
“He’s always been sweet on you Yui, I hope you notice that.”
Her eyes saddened and lowered her head down to the ground. Her blonde locks shielded her face, she began sniffling quietly. I just placed my hand on her shoulder, hoping that would soothe her. She didn’t ask to be in this situation, nor did I. Yet, she was always so poise, her will never faltered. Whilst I would lay on the bathroom floor sobbing— grieving the life I had, and lost. She was the spitting image of ideal for the brothers and I trailed behind her, collecting the bits and pieces each one of them had broken—hoping to grasp some of her femininity and hope.
“I don’t want any of this..” She spoke quietly, her voice cracking.
And the break ended. When we returned to school, Subaru made a case of being near me at every moment. A fellow male student had made the simple mistake of bumping shoulders with me in the hallway and apologized profusely when he saw Subaru lurking in the back. He also kept count of which brother had taken blood from me that week or day. Yui was officially Shuu’s so she was out of commission, that left me. A new bride was sent to the mansion—except this one wasn’t under protection like Yui. She was like me, patiently waiting to get murdered by one of these bloodthirsty vampires. Shaking in bed at night from every creek the flooring would make, hoping it wasn’t one of the brothers for their feeding, trembling, knowing they could snap your neck with ease—if they even cared enough to do so, they would’ve much rather watched us writhe in agony on the floor then spare us mercy. She fell under the hands of Laito. He filled her head with false promises anyone would have trouble turning from, I didn’t see her again after he had taken full possession of her. Lord knows what happened to that sweet girl, what a shame, she was so beautiful too. I just remember hearing a wailing cry from the balcony a month after, and a quick snap.
I assume Subaru also heard it, he came into my room demanding blood again—I knew why he was upset, he was wondering what would happen if that instead was Yui. He couldn’t run to her of course, asking if she was okay. So he ran to me, the second choice. I felt like I could read his mind when he mumbled those words under his breath,
“Idiot, could’ve been you…”
I had to accept the fact I would never be Yui. She was the one I needed to model after, but could never be. In reality, she was the missing part of the equation while I could be factored right out. If you asked me why Subaru gave me a chance, I couldn’t respond to you. But if you compared us like how I had compared Yui to myself, I would be Yui, and he would be me. Back in town I had a handful of friends, we would always spend time together in the back of someone’s pickup truck, or in the basement of church after sleeping through the sermon. I was out all day and alone at night, and I liked it that way. Meanwhile, Subaru was alone all day. He was the type to stand by, watching us laugh with our tongues blue from the slushies someone had bought for all of us, excluding him. He would scoff and question why we were laughing at a joke only we would understand. Subaru is someone the boys in my group would call a freak, and whisper to us why we should stay away.
That was the conflict between us: He knows how different we are. When he would blow up in my face about how stupid and delusional I was, I would just admire such passion and emotion. The type everyone suppressed—he wouldn’t, he was real in all ways. He picked up on it, I wouldn’t lower my gaze in fear, or disgust. Just keeping eye contact, analyzing all his little quirks and habits. Truly falling for him.
“You have to leave, it’s not safe here—eventually, they will kill you.” His face was sullied with worry, yet another sacrificial bride was sent and this time, she was Reiji’s.
“N-no, I’m not going to leave you here. I want to stay here with you!”
“You’re not listening! You will die. Here, take this.” He pushed the knife into my hands, I couldn’t react—except for just standing with my mouth agape.
“What is this for?”
“To kill me,”
“What?! Why would I do that! No—take this back, I won’t do that.” My heart was shattered, how could such a beautiful person want to end their life—or have someone just end it?
“Come with me, we can leave—I’ll show you a new life.” His face lost all emotion, he just stared at me—he wasn’t expecting that response.
“It’s not that easy.”
————————————————————————
I jolted awake, it took me a couple of seconds to realize just where exactly I was—I fell asleep watching the snowfall from the sky from the alcove again, It was pitch black aside from the moon shining over the view of the white garden, and Subaru’s pale face peering through the window.
“About time you wake up, open the damn window! Before I break it down!”
I stared at him groggily for a second before fully snapping into reality,
“Oh my… Why are you outside my window?”
I crawled to the other side and unlatched the lock, this was the first time he did this—he liked making appearances. He slid the window open, allowing the night chill in,
“Hurry—get in, the cold air is getting in.”
I watched him crawl through the narrow opening and closed it immediately after,
“I have a door…”
I sat back down in my spot across from him, I huddled in the blanket in an attempt to warm myself from the cold.
“It’s easier through the window, besides it’s a full moon.”
Even after a year of living here, I couldn’t adjust to the chilling air and cold corners all around the mansion. I had begun wearing an extra layer of cotton to keep my fingers and feet from falling off.
“Weakling, it’s not even that cold outside, you’re just too dramatic.”
“You’re not human how would you understand?”
His face dropped, he wasn’t expecting that response from me.
“Are you on your fucking period or something? You’ve been acting all different this past week, and I’m sick of it!”
He pulled the blanket away from me, I shivered from the sudden cold air once again and groaned.
“If you were as cold as I am, you would understand.”
I moved closer to him and draped the blanket around the both of us, I felt the cold pane slick with condensation press against my back and dampen my sweater.
“Tch, you didn’t answer my damn question. What’s been up with you?”
I got quiet for a second, I wondered if he thought it through—or if he was up for it.
“Would you ever leave Subaru?”
he was bothered I avoided his question but I needed to get it out of me.
“Tch, not this bullshit again. I already told you, it’s not that easy.”
He went quiet for a moment,
“What a stupid question, why are you still even thinking of this? I don’t know… I don’t have much here to hold onto— But I have nowhere else to go.”
I listened to him mumble, he did that when he was conflicted. I laid my head against his shoulder and sighed, I closed my eyes thinking of my next question.
“But what if you did have somewhere else to go?”
I opened my eyes and looked up at him, he looked down at me confused.
“What do you think… That man would never let me leave.”
I grabbed both his hands and held them, turning to face him fully.
“But imagine if we left! Just took a plane…and never came back? It would work—we could go to America! I k-know where we could stay—“
“No, you’re fucking crazy, we’re not leaving. I mean why would you even wanna leave with me? You had your chance to escape that one night. You were just too much of an idiot to not listen to me.”
I frowned,
“Please, just think about it. None of your brothers would have to know..”
He scowled and turned his head away, he snapped his hands back from mine.
“Who the hell are you to tell me to do stuff?”
He grumbled, I wanted to beg him—on my knees to come with me but I knew he would just scoff and walk away. I figured another way of persuading him would work maybe, quickly getting up, I reached under my alcove and the hidden compartment under. I was scrounging for the box of stuff I had hidden for so long.
“Where is it…? Here.”
I returned to my spot and looked at him.
“What is that…? You're hiding stuff from me now? Give me that.”
He snatched the box from my lap and ripped the lid off. The look on his face changed when he realized what it was, I stared at him intently watching for a reaction.
“It’s photos… of my life back there.”
He reached for the photo of me and my friends swimming, I had my arms propped onto the deck with my sunglasses on, I was smiling with my face red. You could see the white lines from the pattern of another suit. My hair was stringy from the chlorine but that didn’t matter, I was happy. My friends were photobombing in the back of the photo. What a cheesy photo.
“Look at how tan I am, you can see the pattern of my bathing suit—those are my friends.”
“You’re just trying to convince me to. You’ll get tired of me quickly and just leave to fulfill your plan.”
I frowned, he didn't trust the idea—or me even.
“I’m just showing you what it was like, look at how clear the sky is.”
I gestured toward the blue sky, as opposed to the cloudy night sky with specks of ice falling slowly.
I smiled looking at the photo. It was one of those days you couldn’t forget, the heat—It was hot, so hot, and I was awakened in the early morning by those rocks being thrown on my window. I scrambled to get ready but I eventually caught up with them, of course leaving my towel behind.
“You’re crazy, we can’t just… leave.”
“Do you really want to live here for the rest of your life? With your brothers? You’ve never even traveled, Subaru..”
I squeezed his shoulder and stood up, “Atleast think about it.” I left the box on his lap, the next picture facing up was a motel, The Safari Inn.

Hi! Can I request enemies to lovers relationship with Jack Marston and tall Male reader? (Or at least taller than him). It doesn't have to be long, head cannons are fine :)
oo yeah ofc!! I went for head cannons in storyish form so it hope it's not too goofy, also my dyslexic ass read john at first so sorry it took a bit
high honor jack marston is my pookie the idea of him with low honor hurts me so high honor it is
also sorry for pushing the charthur agenda but it's burned deep within my soul, I must release it
also spoilers ig for the first & second game but if your requesting jack you prolly already know all that
i grew up lovin' the marstons and they mean the world to me sorry if i get rambly and long with his hcs</3
Jack Marston<3
-With Jack, it's more rivels than actual enemies, and it likely starts when the two of you are teens; maybe you live in some ranch across from his.
-Your mothers or dads are friends, so they're a little concerned. As far as they know, two teenagers forced to hang out should be great friends.
-Jack is 100% a little mama's boy, so when he's not hiding out reading, he's helping her do housework and complaining about you. It's not like he's got a good reason to hate you either; he just doesn't like you.
-Abigail's heard, John's heard, Uncles heard, and even the dog has heard.
-The entire dinner table is tired of his constant whining about hating your 'annoying' ass.
-Hell, even his aunts have heard whenever they ask about his nonexistent social life, Mary-Beth seems to think it's a crush the way he gets so flustered, rambling on about how much he hates you, but he denies it in an instant.
-Equally, you hate him as well, bragging about your height difference. Every time you're forced over to his house to hang out with him in his room (despite his pleading to not leave him alone with you), you'll put his books on the highest shelves.
-His father was once given permission, and assuming some quality time together would fix your relationship, he takes the two of you fishing. (Jack, of course, complains, asking why he was stuck doing the two things he hates most, fishing and spending time with you.)
-During that trip, John warns you to look out for branches so you don't bash your head in. Jack prays you would so you'd shut up and stop looking at him like that.
-Whenever Charles is able to visit them, sometimes Jack will find him and his mother talking outside in the dead of night, speaking of a man he can only just barely remember the silhouette of--Jack sometimes is glad he can't remember those days when he sees how frustrated his father gets about his past—mostly when his mother mentions the man who had apparently been like his father's brother. It's a painful name to speak in their house, and he refuses to even ask anymore now that they hardly mention him anymore.
-The gist of you and Jack's fighting is just petty arguments and insults. His mother warns him about things like that, saying it's not healthy for a boy his age to be so bitter towards another who's done nothing to him, insisting he tries to make friends.
-He tries to listen to his mother; as much as he teases her, just like his father, he respects her greatly and looks up to her, and if she told him to do something, he'd do his very best to listen to her wishes.
-Jack does a bit better at keeping his insults to a minimum. The two of you are nothing near friends, but y'all slowly stop it with actual hurtful comments.
-Just like annoying ol' uncle grew on his father, he was beginning to tolerate your presence until he and his mother were taken by the government while his father hunted down his old 'family'.
-Once they're home, you're not around anymore, and neither are your parents. You moved due to fear of being caught up in all that, and he's bitter about it.
-The day John and Uncle die, your family sends their condolences.
-For as long as his mother is alive, he does his damnedest to keep the ranch alive and working despite her deteriorating health. Tilly visits a bit more when Abigail gets worse, and her husband tries to help—a respectable man even with his high class—though Jack refuses, wanting to take care of it all himself.
-The day his mother dies breaks him--the only blood family he had left.
-He enhatrets all his fathers' things, nobody to stop him from looking through it, he finds journals, and he reads the older one first confused by the handwriting that he was sure wasn't his fathers chicken scratch, but he reads it anyway, admiring each drawing and word, some even speaking about the writers conflicted feelings about still longing for a woman but beginning to feel himself crave a man, willing to let go of her if it means he has the chance to be happy again--queerness had never been something shamed upon or uncommon in his house, he'd heard of it from hangings and his parents speaking about it being wrong that they'd be hung for love--telling Jack that he shouldn't be afraid to love who he wants and to fight for it.
-The fancy writing nearly seems to abruptly stop when things begin to get dark. Switching to his father's writing gives him an appreciation for his father and what he's been through, but even through that, he can't help but crave revenge. He always was an angry young man.
-He wants to put Edgar Ross' death behind him, trying to be a functioning man of society as his mother wanted for him, though his hand still itched for his gun.
-The land was becoming too dry; there wasn't much he could keep alive, and he needed money, so he decided to try and find work. Not many would take him due to his father's name, so he usually hangs around the blackwater bar to sleep in the rooms above it, only visiting his home on weekends to take care of the house and the graves.
-Eventually he finds work, by some old fella speakin' about how desperate this man was for a ranch hand and how it was nearly sad how much they needed it.
-Late at night, he shows up on your doorstep, looking for work after all these years. You would have laughed in his face if it wasn't obvious how much both of you needed this.
-Similar to Bonnie and John's situation He lived on your property for a while, though there was enough room in your house for him, so he worked for you and slept in the guest room.
-There's no room to argue like you did as children. though only nineteen, the two of you are much more grown than you'd like to be with both of your families gone. Now it's only a few quips and jabs.
-There's no women working for your ranch, so you have to trade 'womanly' chores. Jack used to help his mother with hers, so he doesn't mind, but he forces you to help as well.
-You two become friends, despite still bullying each other a little. Him joking about you hitting your head when walking into the barn (you're tall, but not THAT tall), and you telling him his eyes will go bad from staring at those small print books all day.
-The closer friends you two become, the more possible your relationship is to become romantic. Neither of you are sure when you figured out you were in love with each other; it sort of just happened.
-You kissed his cheek goodnight once before you parted ways with him in the living room to return to your bedroom eary and it became tradition. For months, that was how the two of you parted. The next day, before he left to go back to his family's ranch to clean it up, he called you over to his horse—taller than you—for once and kissed your forehead before turning quickly and spurring his horse off.
-As socially awkward as he is, he's very open, flirting with you, not very romantic, but then again, you two aren't exactly romantic; if anything, your relationship is more of a mean friends with benefits kind of situation.
-If you genuinely want to call it a relationship, you'll have to bring it up to him, or he won't really notice or care.
-If you want to be lovers, he'll accept it. You two still have separate rooms, and yet you fall asleep in his most of the time.
-Even if you can read, he likes reading you, with his back against the headboard and your head on his shoulder. he likes feeling taller than you, though he obviously isn't.
-This man tried nailing broken boot heels to his to make him taller and ended up twisting his ankle and falling flat on his face.
-Learns to deal with and accept the fact your taller, though hes unnaturally bitter.
-Everytime he heads home, times becoming less frequent now. He sits at the foot of his mother's grave and talks about you and his life; he brought you once but never did it again, he prefers his visits to his family's graves to be private.
-Even years into your relationship, he won't stop praying you'll bash your head on the doorframe. The day you do, he marks it on his callender and calls it the day he became a happy man, ignoring your unofficial anniversary and calling it a close second.

Visiting the grandparents
Rose: 14, Charlotte and Grace: 10
This one was written was @scarlizzie-loverrr , just copied over to keep it all together!!🫶
“ girls! Come on move your butts to the car “ Wanda said as she gently pushed her three daughters to the front door “ mama wait , I didn’t grab my teddy , bunny and blanket yet “ said Charlotte as she runs upstairs to her bedroom .
Eliza gasped dramatically “ I didn’t either “ she said before running upstairs following her twin , Rose chuckled when Wanda rolled her eyes playfully .
“ you girls ready? “ asked Nat coming from the kitchen with a bag of snacks that Wanda packed , she passed it to Wanda before wrapping her arms around her oldest , Rose leaned back in her mom’s arms , sighing softly .
Wanda nodded stroking Rose’s hair gently , placing kisses on her head “ mama! Eliza took my bunny! “ Charlotte whined , as they can hear the two of them running behind each other upstairs with Eliza giggling .
Nat sighed shaking her head “ Girls! Come down right now! You two are going to make us late “ said Nat , Wanda giggled before going upstairs to bring the twins back down .
Both Eliza and Lottie came down with their each bunny , teddy and small blanket for the trip . The family of five got out of the house , with Nat locking the front door , Rose was comfortably sat next to the window , looking at her twin sisters who were fighting over the other window seat .
“ Charlotte you always sit in the middle seat! Why do you suddenly want to sit in MY seat?! “ Eliza says angrily pushing Lottie in the middle seat , Charlotte whined kicking Eliza “ no fair! I’m 6 minutes older! “ says Lottie , Rose sighed rolling her eyes .
“ you’re not acting like it Lottie! Stop! “ Eliza said kicking her twin back , while Rose tried to stop them , finally Wanda entered the car , sitting in the passenger seat “ hey! You two! Stop it now! We didn’t even drive yet , my gosh “ she said , leaning back to make them stop , which they did .
“ wanna sit next to the window “ Lottie said frowning , making Eliza smirk teasing her about it “ I won’t let you look in my window “ giggled Eliza making Lottie whine telling her twin to stop , while their mom was loading the car trunk with their bags .
“ it’s okay Lottie , you can look in my window? “ said Rose stroking Charlotte’s hair , Lottie nodded leaning towards Rose for snuggles . Eliza frowned “ hey I want snuggles too “ she said before leaning on Lottie to snuggle , Lottie wrapped one arm around her twin while having the other wrapped around Rose’s arm .
“ alright , we got everything right? “ said Nat sitting in the driver seat looking back in a Aw at her daughters snuggling “ they were fighting 2 minutes ago “ Wanda said giggling , Nat rolled her eyes playfully chuckling “ of course they were “
The drive to Melina’s farm will take about 5 hours and 30 minutes , it was 11 am when they headed out , Wanda made sure that all of them had been eating all of their breakfast so they don’t get hungry much , she also packed some snacks but knowing that her wife will stop in a gas station to grab something , it always happens so she didn’t take much snacks .
35 minutes into the drive , they were singing and dancing around to the music . Till they got bored and so both Wanda and Natasha started telling them about the coolest missions they’ve done .
1 hour and 30 minutes more into the drive , Rose felt sick , she gently pushed Lottie off of her “ mommy , I think Rose is going to throw up “ As soon as Natasha heard Lottie tell her that , she went to pull the car aside while Wanda passed her oldest daughter a bag .
Rose started gagging before throwing up all of the breakfast she ate while crying softly , Lottie was holding her sister’s hair back , while Eliza was trying to comfort her sister by telling her that it’s okay , when Natasha pulled the car aside , both Wanda and Natasha unbuckled their seatbelts , Wanda leaning towards her oldest while Natasha got out of the car before opening Rose’s door .
“ it’s okay baby , let it all out , you’re okay lovely girl “ Wanda comforted her daughter rubbing her knees “ Wanda hon , can you please get the ginger candy? It always helps “ said Nat as she rubbed Rose’s back with one hand , and grabbing her oldest water bottle with the other .
“ mommy I don’t like it “ said Rose crying finally done with throwing up , Nat took the bag from her throwing it in the big trashcan next to them outside , before comforting her daughter “ Aw sweetheart, I know you don’t , it’s okay angel , you’re okay “ replied Nat , taking the wipes Lottie offered to wipe Rose’s mouth gently , before unbuckling Rose’s seatbelt lifting her up in her arms , to sit in her seat , pulling her in her lap .
“ here lovebug , drink some water please“ Nat says passing Rose her water bottle “ Sweetheart did you find the ginger candy yet? “ added Nat looking at her wife who’s still looking through Nat’s backpack .
“ yeah I think so , here “ Wanda says leaning to give it to Nat , Rose watched as her mom opened the bag of ginger candy , taking two of them before giving them to Rose , who shoved them both in her mouth just wanting the nausea to go away .
Nat suggested waiting 15 minutes for Rose’s upset stomach to soothe , while the twins were saying jokes trying to cheer Rose up , Wanda kept telling Rose to take some sips of the water , and Nat was just holding her oldest in her arms comfortably .
2 more hours into the drive , Rose didn’t feel sick anymore so the ginger candy definitely helped like it always does “ mama my butt hurt “ Lottie whined as she unbuckled her seatbelt to stand up “ Charlotte darling , sit down on your seat and put your seatbelt back on please “ Wanda said sternly turning around to look at Lottie “ Yeah sweets , I know you sat for a long time , but there’s a gas station just one minute away , I’m going to stop by it okay? Just sit back down sweet girl “ added Nat , making Lottie nod sitting back down in her seat.
The three sisters ran out of the car when Nat parked it next to a big store in the gas station, Wanda and Nat following behind their daughters “ girls please stay with us “ Wanda said pulling them gently next to her and Nat .
“ mama , mommy? Can I take some candy please? “ Asked Eliza looking at the candy aisle “ each one of you gets to pick , two snacks okay? “ Wanda says making them cheer as they run off to grab some candy and chocolate .
“ I thought you already packed snacks? “ Nat asked wrapping one arm around Wanda as they followed their daughters , Wanda shrugged “ I brought crackers and some salt chips only so “ Nat laughed nodding , Wanda only brought her own favorite snacks that’s why .
“ mama! Mama! “ Eliza said running to Wanda showing her what she bought , white Kit Kat bar and those rainbow tall thingy candy , Wanda giggled at how excited Eliza is because she found her favorite candy , Rose got crunchie cadbury and some chips while Lottie got a Kinder egg and barbecue Pringles the large size with a cheeky smile .
“ Charlotte , don’t you think that’s too large for little you “ said Wanda tickling her making her giggle loudly “ she can take it “ chuckled Nat picking Lottie up , as she took the kids snacks with her to pay for them with Char in her arms .
Wanda took her other two daughters out of the store to the small playground next to the gas station “ you guys go , let all of your energy out “ says Wanda making Rose and Eliza run racing each other, they played for a bit , till Nat came with Charlotte and a bag of her kids snacks in her hands , Lottie quickly ran towards her mama and sisters going to play with them in the monkey bars .
They went back to the car , driving After 10 minutes or so of playing . After some time , Eliza cuddled both of her bunny and teddy while having her unicorn blanket covering her “ mama are we there yettt “ Eliza whined glancing at her asleep twin , who had her head resting on Rose’s shoulder her baby pink and light purple blanket with stars on it covering her , with one of her hand still in the bag of her barbecue chips and the other cuddling her teddy, Rose had her headphones on listening to music while looking out of the window , gently playing with Charlotte’s hair .
“ just 45 more minutes babylove , you sleepy? “ asked Wanda glancing at Eliza who nodded her head rubbing her eyes “ just go to sleep munchkin , why don’t you take a small nap , yeah? “ said Nat giving Eliza a soft smile when she nodded .
When they finally arrived , they woke the twins up and got their stuff out of the car “ hey you two “ said Nat looking at her twins making them stop walking looking at her , she kneeled down to their level “ lovelies , I want the both of you to be good girls and try to get closer to grandma Melina and grandpa Alexei , just how like Rose is close to grandma Melina , can you two please try and get closer to her for me? “ said Nat stroking both of their hairs .
“ I’m already close with grandpa a bit “ mumbled Eliza making Nat nod giving her a little smile “ I know baby , but I want you to get closer to grandma too okay? And Lottie can you try to get closer to both of them please sweetheart? “ said Nat , Lottie shrugged making Nat sigh softly , Wanda who had her arm wrapped around Rose , gave her wife a soft look .
“ it’s okay Natty , just let them be baby “ said Wanda making Nat nod as she stood back up and walked to the front door , both of the twins immediately went to hide behind their moms , Eliza hiding behind Wanda while Lottie was behind Nat and Rose stood in the middle of her parents with a shy smile when Melina opened the door .
“ hi kiddos! “ said Melina as she straightly took Rose in her arms , destroying her face with kisses making her giggle “ hi Nat “ Melina smiled going to hug her daughter before hugging Wanda , and looking down at the twins .
Nat gently pulled Lottie in front of her , making Char turn around and hiding her face in her mommy’s stomach “ hey Charlotte , remember what I said? Now be a good girl and say hi to grandma please “ whispered Nat sternly , softly pulling away from Char , Lottie held her mom’s hand before giving Melina a quick side hug and returning to Nat’s arms again , Eliza doing the same less shyly .
Entering the house Nat placed all of their bags aside walking to the living room with Lottie clinging onto her side , Melina had her arms wrapped around Rose as she lead her to the living room while talking to her softly , Wanda had Eliza up in her arms .
“ AHHHH MY NIECES! “ shouted Yelena throwing the game controller she was holding , at Alexei’s head making him groan loudly , the three girls giggled while Nat smirked chuckling as she shook her head .
Yelena squeezed all of her nieces in a big tight hug making them groan before she placed kisses on their heads , Lottie looked around the living room , not seeing Fanny anywhere , Rose is allergic to fur so , Yelena made Fanny stay with one of her close friends for a couple of days , Eliza waved at Alexei making him excitedly wave back .
“ I’m going to go make dinner “ Melina stated , as she pressed a kiss on Rose’s cheek before heading to the kitchen , giving Wanda a nod to join her .
“ I’m gonna go help her “ Wanda told Nat , making her wife nod giving her a kiss as she went to follow her mother in law , Alexei came running to hug the kids after Yelena broke the hug , making both Rose and Charlotte run to Nat’s arms making her chuckle , holding the two of them tightly in her arms as she pressed kisses on their heads .
Alexei frowned , looking at Eliza who shrugged giggling “ why do you two hate me so much “ asked Alexei in his strong Russian accent , going to lift up Eliza in his arms before walking towards them , Nat rolled her eyes while Yelena snickers “ probably because you’re gross “ laughed Yelena , Alexei gave her an offended look .
“ I’ll give Eliza all of the hugs , chocolates and candies I have then “ Alexei said as he placed Eliza next to him on the couch , giving her a lollipop from his pocket , Charlotte looked up at her mom frowning .
(I just noticed this bit is missing when we tried to copy it☹️☹️)
Nat took Rose’s plate putting some pasta and vegetables on the side , Wanda and Yelena doing the same , taking the twins plates and placing some chicken nuggets and vegetables on the side too .
“ do you girls wanna have a movie night? “ asked Melina , pouring some water in a glass for herself and taking a sip , the twins nodded “ yeah! That’s sounds good! “ Rose replied excitedly making Nat give her a smile kissing her head before she started eating .
Dinner is going pretty well , Alexei kept his mouth shut , which both Wanda and Nat were grateful for , Nat and Wanda were having a conversation with Yelena , while Melina was listing the bored games she have , to the girls so that all of them can play together after dinner .
“ uno sounds good , all of us can play “ Rose said , eating some of the vegetables while her sisters nodded agreeing with her “ alrighty then , I’ll get it out after dinner “ replied Melina smiling at the girls who smiled back at her .
After dinner they all sat down in the living room floor , playing uno “ Eli baby don’t cheat “ Nat said looking at her youngest who’s looking at Lottie’s cards , Eliza rolled her eyes playfully giggling “ uno! “ said Yelena putting a 4+ card making Alexei groan , standing up and throwing his cards aside “ you can’t make me take four extra cards Lena! You guys already made me take 12 extra ones! “ he whined going to sit in the couch , they laughed at him while Melina rolled her eyes at his childish behavior .
After some time , Wanda was the one who lost , like she almost always does “ why don’t we go wear your guys pajamas? So that after the movie night we can head straight to bed yeah? “ said Wanda , smiling softly at her daughters , Nat nodded agreeing with her .
The girls had their own room , and so did Nat and Wanda , the farm that Melina bought was bigger than the one she had in Russia , the farm in here had four bedrooms , four bathrooms , a huge kitchen , dining room and a living room.
“ arms up bubba “ said Wanda to Eliza, making her lift her arms up so her mama could put her princess pajamas on , Wanda gently slipped the pajama top on Eliza’s head before kissing her cheek when she finished . She smiled softly at Nat who’s braiding Rose’s hair gently, with Rose leaning on her as Nat spoke to her and Lottie softly .
“ come on baby “ Wanda gestured for Charlotte to come over , Lottie hopped out of the bed with her teddy in her arms , going towards her mama , Wanda took Charlotte’s princess pajamas that matched with Eliza’s , before pulling Lottie gently in front of her while Eliza went to sit next to Rose with her bunny in her lap waiting for her turn , so Nat could braid her hair .
“ arms up my love “ said Wanda smiling , Char nodded lifting her arms up making Wanda gently slip the pajama top on Charlotte’s head , Wanda giggled scrunching her nose when Lottie hugged Wanda afterwards .
Nat already braided Lottie’s hair and now she was done with Rose’s , Wanda opened her arms for Rose to come to , which she did , as she pressed kisses on both Lottie and Rose’s head , cuddling the both of them tightly .
Nat kept poking Eli’s side getting giggles from her while she’s braiding her hair “ mamaaa , can you tell mommy to stop pleasee? “ Eliza pouted making Nat laugh , as she continued with braiding her youngest hair .
“ natty please stop tickling my baby “ giggled Wanda , Nat nodded smiling “ my bad sweetheart “ she said kissing Eliza’s head when she finished , Yelena knocked on the door before coming in “ I’m just gonna take what’s mine real quick “ said Yelena, making Nat smile when she saw her sister , taking Lottie out of Wanda’s arms “ thank you very much “ laughed Yelena , putting Charlotte on her shoulder making her giggle before leaving the bedroom .
“ don’t drop her Lena! “ said Nat lifting Eliza up in her arms , standing up to follow Yelena out of the bedroom , Wanda scooped Rose up in her arms before leaving the bedroom .
Yelena ran downstairs with Nat yelling at her to not run down the stairs with Lottie in her arms , but she just ignored her not wanting her niece’s giggles to stop , she kept running reaching the living room before playfully throwing Charlotte on the couch , getting a loud laugh from Lottie , Eliza quickly got off of her mommy’s arms running to Yelena “ my turn , my turn! “ she said , Yelena laughed picking Eliza up on her shoulder before throwing her next to Lottie on the couch .
Melina had a smile on her face watching this and Nat was laughing at her daughters faces when she threw them , while Wanda was telling Yelena to stop , because they might get hurt “ oh come on Wands , don’t kill the fun , come here Rosie munchkin “ replied Yelena gently taking Rose to her arms , and throwing her playfully next to her sisters making her giggle .
“ I made popcorn! “ said Alexei holding three bowls in his hands , one of them was Toffee popcorn for Eli and Wanda while the other two were salted popcorn , Melina smiled kissing him before taking the toffee popcorn bowl out of his hands , giving it to Wanda .
Nat sat down on the couch pulling Rose to cuddle with her , Wanda doing the same with Eliza , there really wasn’t a space for Lottie , so Yelena opened her arms for Lottie to run to , and she did .
They were watching Mamma Mia , Alexei had his arms wrapped around Melina , Yelena had Lottie’s head on her chest as she held her closely , Nat had Rose laying between her legs with her back rested on her front , as she opened her daughter’s braids so she can play with her hair while watching the movie , Wanda had Eliza sat on her lap with her head resting comfortably on her chest .
When the movie ended , the girls were very sleepy and tired when the movie ended , so Yelena kissed her nieces goodnight , and Melina gave each one of them a hug and a kiss before Nat lifted both Rose and Lottie in her arms , Wanda had Eliza up in her arms .
They took their three daughters to their bedroom , putting them down gently on the bed , Eliza was laying on Wanda’s side , and Rose was laying on Nat’s side of the bed and finally Charlotte was laying down in the middle of her moms .
Nat went to grab Lottie’s blanket and bunny , since she already had her teddy in her arms , before she went back in their room , chuckling at her daughters sleepy faces .
She got in bed pulling Rose closer to her , and wrapping one of her arms around Lottie , Wanda was snuggling with Eliza and rubbing Charlotte’s shoulder while telling a bedtime story at the same time , Lottie was the first one to drift off to sleep , holding her teddy and bunny close to her .
Eliza knew that Char is going to sleep with her moms because she was scared of the scary Alexei was telling , matter in fact she’s now scared herself , but kept silent , she can sleep with Rosie. Rose doesn’t mind at all , plus she gives really good cuddles .
Nat gently lifted Rose up , Wanda doing the same with Eliza , as they went to put them in bed , tucking them in and giving them their goodnight kisses .
Wanda turned off the lights and closed the door behind her , making Eli jump out of her bed , grabbing her blanket and two stuffed animals and running to Rose’s bed . Getting under the covers , Rose pulled Eliza closer to her , not questioning her about why she wanted to sleep next to her , because she already knows why .
Wanda kissed Nat goodnight , before getting in bed both of them snuggling with Charlotte , as they had a quiet small conversation before drifting off to sleep themselves

❛ It seems like nobody wants to dabble in the dark arts anymore. It’s all candle spells and rosemary. ❜
❛ The other day I tripped over a lemon hex and dislocated one of my chakras. Thank god for those Reiki healing classes I took at the YMCA. ❜
❛I just don’t understand this younger generation of witches anymore. I mean, if you’re not in a cemetery after midnight summoning the spirits of your dead ancestors to seek vengeance on your landlord for raising the rent, then what are you doing? ❜

*clears throat and offers double chocolate chip cookies to GP Reader* Hello Mrs. Barber, I hope I am not being too forward in asking you these questions like I asked your dear husband last week. What are your favorite parts of your smokeshow husband's body and personality? And do you have any dating & relationship advice for this very introverted but very romance obsessed woman? Thank you so much for your time, you are like the cool aunties I've missed hanging out with.
Summary: It's Baby Girl's turn (also known as Mrs. Barber) to answer a few burning questions about her relationship with her husband, the infamous Andrew Barber. Written from Reader's POV.
Warnings: Mature Themes, Girl!Dad Andy Barber, Discussions of Fatherhood, Mentions of Oral Sex (Man Rec), Fingering (mentioned), Lloyd Evans-Drysdale, Punishments (mentioned), Spanking (mentioned), Fluff, Cursing, Minors DNI.
A/N: This installment of the A Growing Pains Interview Series also contains a brief reference to my fic, Handsy, where I first introduce Mr. Lloyd Evans-Drysdale. Hello! Finally, a question for me! I’m super excited, let me tell you. I believe we already know the ground rules with this…and I’ve sent Mr. Barber out of the room so we can all chat freely. I’ll show him this later. Maybe it’ll even earn me a reward. This girl right here has been on her best behavior this past week, which means no punishments!
You even have my promise to keep the hot streak going. Scouts honor, folks.
Let me start by saying that I love my sweet Andy Bear, and I am so unbelievably proud to call him my husband. He is by far the most amazing and brilliant man I’ve ever met. He’s also quite the menace, and I say that with all of the love. Whether we’re talking about his body or his mind, Andrew Barber is a fucking force, you guys.
But at the end of the day, my man is foine as hell. Andrew is a luscious piece of ass wrapped in one big, well-proportioned package. And speaking of asses, have you seen his? You could bounce a quarter off that butt.
Quick fun fact: I tried it. It worked. So then I kept doing it. I even made a game of it which actually took up the entire day.
Although, the kids kept asking why Mama was “throwing money” at Daddy. So, I just made up some story about Daddy being forgetful and leaving his coins around the house, which meant that I had to try to put it back in his pocket for him.
But I had to be careful, because I didn’t want him to feel bad about being so darn forgetful. Worked like a dream. I mean, our beautiful Barber Babies bought that tale hook, line, and sinker. Even BiBi! She seemed suspicious, but then I caught her offering Andy one of her little wallets just in case he needed it.
He was so touched by her gesture that he did eventually accept it. And then went out and bought her another one, complete with a matching piggy bank. Well, it was more of a llama bank – which also happens to be her favorite animal. Where he found it, I have no idea.
Can I just deviate from the physical for a second to talk about what a wonderful father this man is? It’s not always about the big, grand gestures with us. In reality, it’s about the small, more intimate moments. Yes, our house is chaotic at times. We have four children under nine-years-old, so chaos kind of comes with the territory.
And he handles it spectacularly – even when he fucks up. Now that might sound a bit harsh, but if I’ve learned anything from this whole parenting gig, it’s that you will fuck up sometimes. And we both do it, but he’s a wonderful partner who strives to be the best Dad he can possibly be.
I love watching him with our children. He’s so protective and encouraging. He reads to them every night, takes them on “camping trips” in the backyard, and coaches pretty much every sport they’re involved in. I don’t quite get the whole camping business – I don’t do nature, or bugs – but apparently the kids do.
And they love that stuff. We don’t stay out all night, but we set up tents and tell stories and enjoy campfire snacks. Everyone stays up well past bedtime and my sweet little A.J., who takes after his father in so many ways, keeps me safe from “dah buggies” by sitting in my lap. See, Andy told him that bugs scared me, so it was up to them to keep me safe. Which is exactly what he does.
Lord, help me when he grows up. I don’t know if I have it in me to live with two Andrew Barbers. But I guess I’ll just have to keep them, won’t I?
Oh! And in case you didn’t already know, Andy is also amazing company at tea parties. Katrina and Rory threw one the other day. They had me deliver a special, handmade invitation and everything. He picked out a suit, brought cookies from the local bakery, and even sat in a chair that was much too small for his bulky frame to be comfortable.
But he did it all for his girls without so much as a fuss.
I snuck a peek and nearly melted on the spot. And when we finally got a moment to ourselves, you can be damn sure that I got down on my knees with the quickness and sucked the soul out of my Big Man’s body.
He didn’t fully understand why until I explained it to him later, but he also wasn’t complaining either. That man is the most delicious mouthful you could ever imagine. Mr. Barber is, eh, very well endowed. But I’ve also had ages to refine my technique.
And he is always more than willing to let me practice. It’s actually very kind of him. That man has the patience of a saint – unless I’m deepthroating him. But otherwise his stamina is pretty top notch.
That aside, Andrew Barber is so completely and utterly devoted to me and this amazing little family we’ve built together that sometimes I get overwhelmed just thinking about it. I’ve never been loved so thoroughly or so deeply before.
If I’m being honest, and I am, it actually used to scare me. And sometimes it still does if I let it. But I also accept my handsome ogre for who he is – the same way he accepts me for who and what I am.
Meaning that I’m a fucking brat, which I am through and through. It’s not my fault. My husband brings it out of me even when I least expect it. It might have something to do with that cocky grin of his, or that arrogant swagger he walks around with from time to time.
It makes me want to wreak havoc in new and inventive ways on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Andy knows this, of course. He claims he knew I was a brat from our very first date. I still have no idea what he means by that, so whatever. I just let him think what he wants.
But we have fun together. And the things we do, the games we play…
It keeps things spicy. I guess you could say that it’s really Andy’s mind that turns me on. Couple that with his dominant and possessive nature and hot damn! Sometimes it can be a bit much to manage, but this girl doesn’t mind being slung over an impressive man’s broad shoulder every now and again.
I enjoy being manhandled. If it’s with the right man, that is. And Andrew Barber is definitely more than enough man for me.
Anyway, I think that’s all I’ve got for now. As for your question about advice…hm. I would encourage you to just be yourself.
But also, and I know this is much easier said than done, try to make yourself step outside your comfort zone. I’m saying go crazy or anything, but it might be worth taking a small risk here and there. Occasionally it’s okay to make the first move – even if you find that idea terrifying.
With Andrew…I made the first move. Of course he tells it differently, and yes he may have seen me first, but I made the first move. Which was something that I had never done before. And I was so unbelievably nervous. At the time I found it so strange to be drawn to a person like that, especially with someone who possesses such an intimidating aura.
But being just a little brave is ultimately what led me to the love of my life. Don’t get me wrong. My palms were sweaty and my legs felt kind of like jello, but I just felt like I had to try.
And to this day, I’m so glad that I did. Because it means that I get to live my own love story. And while it’s not all a bed of roses, because we do have our problems, I do firmly believe that I’ve found my other half. And it’s because we continue to take a chance on one another and the bond that we’ve built every single day.
Whatever you believe in, things happen for a reason. And when you find your person, you’ll know. They will accept you for who you are and will work hard to love you the way you need to be loved.
Just take a deep breath and have a little faith. Take a chance. Take a risk. But don’t settle for anybody, man or woman, who refuses to see your worth, girlfriend. You’re much too special for that.
Signing off with love – Mrs. Barber
P.S. I’ll be your cool Aunty all day long, boo! I’m always here if you need something or if you have more questions. Andy Bear and I screen these things together, but nothing is really off limits with us. And I will always happily take advantage of any opportunity to gush about the love of my life. Even if he is a menace.
P.S.S. I also forgot to mention that I love Andy’s hands. You know in romance novels where they write about the hero having perfect hands with long, nimble fingers sporting just the right amount of callousness? That’s him. And not only that, but my Big Man’s fingers are absolute magic. Or instruments of torture. Depends on the day, really.
By the way, my husband has the most delightfully one-sided rivalry with my favorite Hollywood actor, Lloyd Evans-Drysdale. It’s so funny! But the other day, I pulled up this interview where Lloyd cracked this eyebrow-raising joke about “all of his fingering being accurate” and watched it in bed right next to Andy. And then I may or may not have made some comment about how some men ought to be more like him [Lloyd Evans-Drysdale] and maybe take some notes.
My husband didn’t like that. I got in sooo much trouble for it too. I mean, if you consider being held down, spanked, and then fucked within an inch of my life trouble.
Completely worth it.
And in case you’re wondering, the answer is yes. All of Andy’s fingering is incredibly accurate in its own right. Even more so than Lloyd’s. And this girl has had more than enough orgasms to back him up.
Also, Andy would probably also like me to mention that he is, in fact, taller than my movie star crush. And that he’s never had to wear a lace-front wig because his hairline isn’t receding. My sweet man can be a bit of a mental patient, but I do love him...
So, I guess I'll just have to put up with it. For now. Thank goodness he's cute.

Trippy was born on March 21st, 2022. We had talked about getting a cat, but I was resistant. However, when our next door neighbor was cat sitting a pregnant mama cat, I told my wife we could keep a kitten if she ended up giving birth while they were there. Our neighbor wasn't supposed to have her that long, so I didn't really think it was going to pan out, if I'm being honest.
But before we knew it, 3 kittens were born, and I had the privilege of meeting them just minutes after they were born. It wasn't long before we picked Trippy to be ours, she was the most rambunctious of the litter and showed her personality early on. She stayed with her mom and siblings, but we got to visit her and when she got a little bigger would come to our house for short periods of time. Finally, when the kittens were old enough, Trippy got to come home with us to stay. We were already so attached and she was our perfect, beautiful baby.
We had limited funds so we took her to a mobile spay and neuter clinic that provided her vaccines, spay surgery and a tag when she was a few months old.
Trippy stayed inside with the exception of supervised trips outside either on her harness, or within an enclosed area where she couldn't get out. We wanted her to have a chance to explore, but also worried about the dangers of her being outside so she was never allowed out without us watching her.
When we moved to a new apartment, we no longer had the outdoor space we had previously, which meant Trippy spent almost all of her time inside, as even taking her out on her harness became challenging in that environment. She never was in contact with other cats. While it wasn't necessarily a conscious decision, we didn't keep up with her vaccines. It didn't seem like it needed to be a priority because her risk of exposure to anything seemed so low. In retrospect, I wish we had chosen differently.

Mag’s New Journal
I’m so exited that I found a working terminal and I can start journaling again! I had to leave my previous journal behind in the vault. Colleen warned me that I needed to do a backup of my terminal, but I got a little carried away taking photos before we all left. I used all of my hototapes and forgot to save my journal. But that’s ok! This is the start of my new life, so new journal!
Introduction: my name is Margaret Fiona Kelly, but I’ve always gone by Mags. Not Maggie like my grandmother, who died, so I never got to know her, or Meg like mama’s sister, who also died in the war. We were lucky that way, I guess. My parents were chosen to come to Vault 76 because Papa was retired from the Air Force and a professor at Vault Tech University. He was able to bring his family, which was just him, mama and Colleen at the time. I was born in the vault. I’d never seen the sky until Reclamation Day….the best day of my life!
I’m 23 years old, and Colleen still treats me like a kid. She’s been so overprotective since Papa died 4 years ago, just 2 years after Mama…but she wasn’t the only one Papa was preparing for the outside! Now that we’ve found our old house in the outskirts of Morgantown, she treats me like I’m a prisoner! I told her I wanted to see more of the outside, and she promised she’d take me to Morgantown the next time she goes for supplies. I can’t wait so I can find some goodies to bring life back to this house! I can’t believe it’s still here. Some of these places…well let’s just say the years haven’t been kind.
The house is pretty nice. I imagine the brick helped keep it standing. Colleen says Mama’s insistence on quality helped the floors and furnishings last all this time. Papa always made sure the repairs were done, so no leaks or anything! But some things do need replaced and if I have to be stuck here while Colleen’s out wandering around and making things safe, then there needs to be some upgrades! I’ve spent the last 2 weeks since we left the vault cleaning, and I want to make this a home for us.
Colleen feels very emotional about the house. She was 8 years old when they left, and now she has a lot of memories flooding back. We even found her old toys in her room. She’s sleeping there. She told me to sleep in Mama’s room. Even though I never had a life here before, I sort of feel close to Mama and Papa again, so I’m glad we came here.
Anyway, I’ll write more later. Colleen should be coming home today after her trip to Charleston and I’m making some corn soup from what survived in Mama’s garden. It took awhile to clean it all up and identify everything, but it’s good that we have it. It’s almost like Mama’s still taking care of us.
Until then, Mags

It was always a funny thing to him when he could tell by the look on her face that something had piqued her interest. Now was no different as he looked up and noticed the way her eyes shined a bit. He'd come to see that look a handful of times by now. It was the same little sparkle he saw from her when they were outside. Almost like her guard was down and she let herself be seen. Though to him even in the dark he could see the sparkle emanating from her. ❛It was the first trip me and my sisters took where we reunited with our mama. It had to be a neutral place so our father wouldn't fight her for custody. At that point they were in a nasty battle over the two of us. He didn't want the one that wasn't his. It was the summer before we started kindergarten at our new school here in the islands so our aunt thought it was a good idea to calm our fears for the first day at a new school.❜ they didn't speak in English at that point and most kids were little bullies so that trip was the time they felt like they belonged somewhere. ❛We stayed at Rio de Janeiro for about a week and that was the time I saw my sisters smile for the first time. We were kids and able to be kids without having to be little adults for everyone else. I fell in love with the sights and saw myself living there. Clearly that didn't happen. I stayed with my sisters. We're a packaged deal. Where they go I do. ❜ honestly now it would be hard to leave them all. With kids and a family built he would feel like he'd be abandoning them. ❛Actually never been to São Paulo. We should go. Maybe I'll get the agency to sponsor a trip. What was your favorite sights to see?❜
A chuckle escaped him as she fired off her questions. It seemed like this was their relationship and it brought him a bit of joy. An eye roll came through and laughed. ❛She's got both girls and boys. Five and five so you could have taken your pick. Though two of the boys love to stick their fingers in noses and three love to stick fingers in outlets. Girls are pretty calm though. ❜ He was, of course, kidding and fucking with her. Pulling chains was also part of their banter. ❛Shoot your shot. But I want to watch. ❜ His controlled laugh slipped as he shook his head.
The little boy in his lap stopped playing with his wrist and made a surprised expression not knowing she knew about NASCAR. Wally bounced him and leaned over to hear what he wanted to hear. Glancing back up he chuckled and cleared his throat. ❛He wants you as his date for the racetrack. ❜ Wally felt the need to further explain what that meant as he moved his face around to keep tot from hitting his face. ❛His second cousins are racecar drivers and have one day every few months where they take the littles on the race track with their tiny cars and they have a ball. ❜ it was also not where he learned how to drive stick for one of his missions. ❛Lion King date. You know you'll be hanging out with us again, right? ❜
❛Lilo and Stitch? Did you like it? ❜ Liar. He whispered as a smirk crossed his face. Farmers market had chuckle already because if he wasn't making a fool out of himself it wasn't a great day. The little boy in his lap turned and started asking for his fruit knowing that farmer market day was when he got to see his girlfriend. Wally shushed him gently and told him his juice packet was in the fridge for later. With that he seemed content enough to go back to laying on his chest. ❛we decided to take the whole lot. Bad idea but each adult had two then I had four. There was a sign that said no one under five and sure, we listened. We thought its a farmer market how dangerous could it be. Turned out it wasn't dangerous at all but fun. They had a roped off area that held every carnival game imaginable. Bounce houses and a spin the rabbit game which, I'd suggest you guys go to first. The first ten winners get to ring the bell on the train for the parade. It's a harvest parade. Kind of like Thanksgiving but not. So we inadvertently foiled their plans because the kids ended up winning the prizes that most adults wanted to take home and now it's not a secret area anymore. Because of us. ❜ His nephew started to laugh because he remembered the because of us moment.
The words that Wally said had some truth about them. Hell, she had even read plenty of books where that typical 'home is wherever you are' line was used, she just didn't understand it. She had never settled in one place to call home, nor did she find home in someone before, how would she know? A nod of her head was all that she could give at that sentiment before a twinkle in her eye came to her amber hues at the mention of Brazil.
It was the first heist she had spearheaded after Jennifer left her on her own and Charlie helped her back up. She was rather proud of it still to this day, with no clues left behind, millions in cash, bars, jewels, and loads of diamonds taken. Word was even one of the strong boxes they had taken that night belonged to a family member of the former governor. Granted the take was shared with all but it was still enough that she lived off of it for a good year. She was barely in her twenties and it felt exhilarating to know that she didn't need Jennifer and could do it on her own. Bringing herself to the moment she found herself in, her curiosity got the best of her. ❝ Why Brazil? I can't say I blame you, São Paulo is beautiful, have you been? A giant melting pot of a metropolis. ❞
A genuine giggle came from her. ❝ Adventures? What type of adventures are Wallaby and Lila doing? ❞ She had been called many things before, but Lila? That was a new one she couldn't help but be confused but happy at the same time about it. ❝ Sacred? ❞ She repeated more to herself than a real question. She did understand that sentiment. Orion was her Oreo, it was because when she came to meet the boy he had been sitting at the kitchen table eating Oreos, most of it on his face than in his mouth. Something about the way he said he wished Anna would be something else but what he did made her want to question why, but she also knew that she would never want Orion to do any of the things she and Charlie had done growing up. She bit her tongue instead.
❝ What if that was what I wanted? Use my cute little godson to chat up some of the cute singles in the area? You foiled my plans. And you have to give me Mrs. Jones's number, what does she have sons? Daughters? Are they hot? ❞ It was a jest but she couldn't help it when she was around Wally, always wanting to be contrarian to what he said. She refused to be pinned down to a T, especially by an agent.
❝ Ah, Cars. Orion had me sit and watch them all with him once. Nice choice. You might be a NASCAR fan, maybe one day. Or a Le Mans fan. It happens in France and it's 24 hours nonstop, it's quite an event.❞ Orion had begun to lean against his godmother with eyes half open at the mention of his name. ❝ And I would love to watch Lion King with you anytime. ❞ She tried to repeat it back as best as she could.
Honestly, she liked Luca but it was because she saw a lot of herself and Charlie and even Anna in those kids. Trying their best to make their own way in the world, two monsters are taken in by a caring girl. Shrugging she added ❝ Well, there’s also Lilo and Stitch. Orion made me watch the plan ride over. I don’t really have a favorite, there are some that I’ve seen and have stuck with me but nothing I would label favorite.❞ She had t seen a lot of movies that were family-friendly and she had only started when Orion entered her life a year ago. Her favorite movies were best not said in the present company, especially now that Orion was beginning to wake.
❝ Now, ❞ she settled a bit more comfortably, crossing her legs so that Orion could sit in the little space made by it and lay his back against her. ❝ Story. I need to hear all about his farmer's marker I need to talk Orion to. ❞ The boy began to rub his eyes, equally as curious about this story. He had begun to inherit her want and need for stories through some strange osmosis and was awake now.
#interactions. wally#v: dirty cash ( money talks. )#i mean 👀👀👀😏 is his reaction#itll come back around for them later in which case she'd really be his home

RIO/MANNY x black! Reader | October Prompts!
A/N: andddd we’re back! Back at it again with some spooky content for you. We love writing for Rio/Manny so I thought why not? Also threw another handsome man into the mix…so we’ll see how this works out! Shall we?
Prompt: #2. “Trust no one tonight.” + #4. “The house is not haunted.”
Synopsis: Rio/Manny warns you to be careful tonight and suddenly the house feels a lot bigger and creepier without him there. So you invite over a new friend you made to mainly keep you company but to show them that your mind is not playing tricks on you.
⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣ ೋ ⍣
“Trust no one tonight,” Manny’s voice tells you as you’re standing in the kitchen, hand deep into a chip bag.
Instantly a frown appeared on your face, “and what do you mean by that, Manny?”
It was mostly silent on his side of the line until you heard the acceleration of his engine before he basically ignored you, “where’s my girl?”
“You’re talking to her.”
Manny chuckled on the other line, “oh so you love me again?”
You scowled putting the phone on speaker and tossing it onto the island. It’s been five months since you brought up the idea of separation but not a divorce. Manny was your husband of eight years but the danger of his lifestyle started to become unsettling to you. Of course you were loyal, he could never say you weren’t but having him brush off the fact that he was almost burned alive scared you. He had to come clean to his Mayan Charter, that he was part of something much bigger than they knew.
Which brought on higher demands and not seeing him at all. The two of you shared a four year old and if you had to raise her yourself, you would. You preferred not to but Manny made that hard and he didn’t like you questioning him. He just expected you to, “trust the process.” He would do anything for the both of you, the two of you were his entire world and he was involved in a lifestyle that could hand him his death sentence any day. He was down for the cause and providing for his family was his number one goal.
“I never stopped loving you,” you sighed, “don’t get on my nerves Manny. What’s up?”
Manny answered, “ez’s supply got burned to a crisp so he came to myself and Mick to make a trip over the border. Let’s just say, shit went left over there and you know I don’t flee from much.”
This was true and frustrating. You didn’t need to know every detail of your man’s business but just the basics. Things like this? You needed to know. When Manny provided vague sentences and started questioning about your daughter’s whereabouts and whenever he mentioned those fucking Reyes brothers—you had questions.
Manny knew how to be strategic so if anything took a turn, he was quick on his feet to handle it. That you knew. The secret was out that Manny had his own connections and could supply what was needed. Miguel Galindo was hiding in the shadows so someone had to take over but that was not how Manny originally wanted to play it. So you left the raised ranch in Santo padre to a mid-century home out in Palm Springs, away from everyone and almost everything.
“Which is why I’m asking, where’s Maeve?”
“She’s with her aunt and uncle for the weekend remember?” You replied, “they wanted to take her and the twins to the theme park with those tickets you gave them for their birthday.”
Your younger siblings were roommates in a shared town home out in San Diego and often took Maeve to spend time with your brother’s kids. You had plans to enroll Maeve into a private school next year but would strongly consider homeschooling if Manny’s profession got significantly worse.
“Mmm, I’ll get mick on that.”
Widening your eyes you said, “damn, that bad huh?”
“Yeah, kinda. Don’t worry about it too much, mama.” Manny answered, “I’m on my way back but I don’t recommend leaving the house once nightfall comes through. Shut everything down the minute the sunsets you hear me?”
Puffing out a breath you scowled, “what if I had plans now that Maeve is with my sibs?”
“That’s cancelled, I thought that was obvious.” He chuckled.
Your eyes were rolling. It’s not like you did have plans exactly this weekend, it was supposed to be a chill one but the fact of the matter is: you could have had plans and things often have to be rearranged due to Manny’s surroundings.
“Mama?” He pressed.
“Yes. I know. Operation lockdown by 6pm until otherwise stated.”
“Trust no one.”
You repeated, “And trust no one.”
“Aight.”
Just like that you were off the phone with a long sigh and a childish stomp of your feet. Everything from this point on was a routine: checking the time, checking the fridge for leftovers, putting some tunes on by voice command, and ran your bath water as you stripped, sitting in your bra and panties while you scrolled Twitter.
A gush of warm-like air brushed against your kitchen, almost as if someone was breathing right behind you as you sat on your bed. You whipped around, eyes scanning the ceiling in search of the placement of the vent. Yes the central heat turned on minutes after you got off the phone with Manny. That was the reason why you decided to take a bath, turning it up slightly just to keep it warm while you bathed.
Most of the vents in the bedrooms were only on the floor and not the ceiling. Rubbing at the spot, you pushed off the bed to quickly enter the bathroom with a lock of the door. Settling into the bubble bath, you plucked the flute glass off the wooden tray and enjoyed your personal time to yourself. The worry of tonight went to the back of your mind as you dozed off for some time.
A quick yank by the tips of your exposed feet had you underwater. The gasping for air made you choke, hands gripping the sides of the tub while you felt pressure on your chest, holding you down. This couldn’t be a simple mistake of dozing off? Not when it felt like something cold and solid was keeping you in place between your breasts?!
Your lungs were burning for air until you were able to feel in control of your body again. Popping out of the water, you choked lounging onto the side of the tub, cheek and ankle resting along the cool edge. Coughing you quickly wiped the bubbles off your face, glancing down at your toes to see your big toe nail appeared to be bleeding along with a dark purple ring circling your ankle.
Once you gained the strength to pull yourself out onto the tile floor you fought to gain your breath back. A towel was eventually wrapped tightly around your body, water drained, gauze secured around your toe; with your phone pressed against your ear.
Manny now had ten missed calls.
Cautiously you found some clothes to throw on, leg bouncing as you sat on your bed. You locked yourself in the bathroom but didn’t feel safe there and now you were back in the bedroom and you didn’t a hundred percent feel safe there either.
That’s when you felt it again. Warm breath against the back of your neck followed by a sinister whisper, “Malachi.”
If you ever seen Tom and Jerry? You were Tom shooting up from your bed after that. Fumbling with the door knob, you did not look behind you as you hobbled down the hallway ordering your phone to call someone else instead.
Twenty minutes later you flung the front door open, revealing a new friend you made three months ago downtown named: Max Parish. The buzz haired man stared down at you as your eyes held complete fear in them.
“What’re you still doing in the house?” Max huffed as he took in the sight of you, barely dressed.
“I can’t exactly leave.”
Max sucked his teeth now stepping into the house, “Manny would just have to understand the circumstances especially if you said someone’s in the house.”
“I’m better off taking my chances here than whatever he’s got himself messed up in out there.” You argued.
Max eyed the house. This was his first time being over at your new upgrade and it didn’t feel like something you’d pick really. In your mind, you always felt like you were being watched here. It never felt like home, not like Detroit.
“The hell am I doing?” Max muttered to himself, “go wait in the car.”
“Excuse me?”
“I’m gonna scope the house out.” He raised his jacket, showing his piece tucked in his waist band, “make sure they get the message.”
Given Manny’s lifestyle outside of his family, of course he kept a gun in the house just in case. The sight of the gun attached to Max’s body wasn’t foreign to you yet you still found yourself taking a sharp inhale. You knew how to fire a gun and had a solid hand but unfortunately you did not have the pleasure of liking them. It made you uncomfortable to know that there was one in this house especially when Maeve was around. You were waiting any second for the feds to come searching the house, (you just had to think of the worse if it ever happened, something manny got on you about) although manny didn’t have anything to hide here.
“It’s not—it’s not a person.” You mumbled out as Max started moving.
He stopped in his tracks, “you said—
“I know what I said,” you exasperated, “there’s something in this house, Max.”
A small smile played on Max’s lips then, “something?” He echoed, “like what?”
“The fucking devil! I don’t know! All i know is, one minute I’m minding my black ass business and the next, I’m being drowned in the tub and someone’s screaming in my got damn ear.” You explained to Max who rubbed at his beard.
His laugh was full of disbelief as he shook his head. “I thought you said it was something not someone.” He teased.
“I’m not making this shit up! I’m really freaked out and I would handle it myself but you’re the closest thing I got when manny’s not answering his phone!” You attempted to pace in the entry way and that’s when Max took in your full appearance.
He missed the bandage around your foot and your coils were dripping down your oversized tee. The friendship between you and Max was not instant, you met at a cafe—which sure was cliché but you payed for his drink just for him to chase you and scold you about it on your way to your cosmetology course—which so happened to be in the same building as Max’s cooking course.
It was war from that point because there maybe some things that made you uncomfortable but you did not take well to someone talking to you crazy. Being yelled at was a trigger for you and you didn’t need some 6’5 man yelling at you for being kind. Max ended up apologizing to you the week after at the next class meeting, telling you that he was simply having a bad day since it was the anniversary of his fiancée’s passing. Again that had nothing to do with you, he acknowledged that and soon ended up buying your beverage every Thursday before class.
Somehow you built a friendship around that. When either of you called the other, most of the time you were jumping to each other’s aide but not without some shit talking first on the side.
“Wait,” Max ran a hand over his buzzed head, “you said manny wasn’t picking up his phone?”
“Yeah.”
“And did you talk to him before that?”
“Yes. He told me…not to trust anyone.” Your eyes were wide, “Oh my god, get out!” You ordered.
Max raised his brows as you began shoving him backwards but he barely budged. He gripped your hands trying to get you to calm down, figuring whatever manny put into your head before these events probably increased your paranoia. From what max learned about your relationship with manny, he personally didn’t care much for him although he’s never met him, Max just felt like Manny didn’t have his priorities straight when it came to you or his child.
He kept that to himself though.
Once Max got a hold of your face, he turned your head to the side by your jaw, catching the red liquid that slid out the side of your ear.
Okay…that was concerning.
“Whatever you’re thinking had nothing to do with me. I promise,” Max gently spoke, “but could it be manny playing a trick on you?”
“No.” You shook your head, “why would he do that?”
“I don’t know.” Max lifted his shoulders, eyes glancing around this Brady bunch ass house, “you tell me.”
“He’s coming back from Mexico tonight…i assume with the Yuma and Santo Padre charter. I don’t know who stayed back but he knows I don’t care to have them around me—even if it’s for his idea of protection. The only one I trust is Mick and Manny said he was sending him off to Maeve…but why isn’t he answering his phone?” You thought out-loud.
Max hummed as he let go of your face, surveying the house once more. It was quiet, much like you would expect a home in the desert with a Mountain View to be. Perhaps it was a figment of your imagination after Manny caused you to be on alert? Majority of the time you were a homebody, if you weren’t with your daughter you’d invite a friend or two over but most of the time you were alone and without your husband.
“Maybe…”
Your eyes were in slits as you peered at your friend.
“The house is not haunted.” Max stated, “your husband set your anxiety off…if he’s not lurking in the basement or something.”
Crossing your arms you still felt upset, “I don’t think we have a basement and I didn’t do this to myself.”
Max was no therapist and it’s not like he thought you needed one or anything! It’s just it’s always a possibility when you have a lot going on in your life right? He didn’t want to say anything to make you feel worse so he inhaled.
“Okay then, shut the door. Let me check for you.” Max instructed as you swallowed the lump in your throat, first checking the time on your phone and slamming the door shut.
The man lifted a brow as you walked by him to the hallway. Slowly he followed you to see you reaching for the side of what appeared to be a abstract painting, which slid to the side at your touch. Max was in awe as the wall proceeded with the same movement, revealing a panel behind it. Your fingers flew over the monitor, punching in some numbers before you pulled the switch into a downwards position.
‘Lockdown activated.’ Flashed in bright text before the clinging of metal followed.
Max’s head turned towards the front, noticing the windows becoming dark followed by the front door clinking with more locks.
“This manny’s work too?”
“Anything for his family.” You were quiet now as you went into the kitchen before calling out, “audio off.”
Which cut off some The Mamas and The Papa’s song he was sure his red headed aunt listened to when she was growing up. Max didn’t pick up on the music playing until he realized how dejected you appeared.
“Anything for his family? Yet he’s not answering your calls? Eh, I don’t know. Something doesn’t feel right here.”
“Max,” you started pinching the space in between your brows, “the first thing I would want him to do is go to our daughter. If I’m in trouble, I’d figure it out.”
“He’s got you trained then.” Max sarcastically said, “yet I’m here and he’s not.”
Glared you hissed, “maybe I want the spirits to get your ass first just to give me enough time to get out here, did you ever think about that?”
“So a set up is it?” Max was smug, “you just put us in lockdown which means no one in and no one out. Sounds like you just killed us both dont you think?”
“I’m…really starting to hate men who’s names start with the letter ‘m.’”
“Aw, thank you, babe.” Max placed his hand on his chest mockingly while you fanned your hand at him.
Leaning against the island, you rocked back and forth slightly looking around. “You really don’t think this place is haunted?”
“I’ve seen a lot in my life but there’s only one way to find out.” Max declared, “I’ll check the place out now…since I don’t really have a choice now that you locked me in here with you. Thanks for the option by the way.”
“Oh, You’re welcome sweetie.” You gave a small smile.
Max scoffed with a shake of his head, “don’t go anywhere. I’ll be right back.”
“And if you don’t?”
“Well…it was fun while it lasted.”
“Max!”
“I’m kidding! Just relax, finish your merlot…better yet, don’t.” Max had his eyes elsewhere as he slowly began to creep around the house and out of your sight.
Once max was gone you stared at the bottle, gripping it, taking a sip before you shoved it into the fridge with a sigh.
The house still didn’t feel as comforting even with max being here with you. Not only did it not feel like home but it always felt eerie, too long and separate from what a house should be. You didn’t get a say when Manny just uplifted you and Maeve to this house. Marriage was supposed to be about a partnership yet most of the time you felt like it was you on your own.
Everything felt like it was always on his terms and in a sense it made you think of “Rio” more than anything. Christopher changed his name and his image once he decided California would be your next move. You didn’t mind the move much since that meant being closer to your siblings…however there was a contrast to this ordeal; not just in the exterior of your relationship but also what should have felt like the inside of a home was anything but.
He was supposed to be that.
Which is why you brought up separation. To test Manny, to see if he rather work on this marriage or continue diving into his job. You were understanding for years! His life was constantly on the line and you were stuck always watching from the sidelines. He could never leave this life, it’s been this way since he was a teenager. Since you learned about his previous relationship, the one that mattered, before you.
You gotta go where you wanna go
Do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with
The distortion of the previous track began to play throughout the house, making you sit up straight at the bar stool.
“The hell? Audio off.” You called out just for the track to continue on with its chopped and screwed version.
Babe, you gotta go where you wanna go
Do what you wanna do
With whoever you wanna do it with
“Isla?” Max called out to you, making you snap your head to look at Max being led into the kitchen by a gun.
Hoping off the chair you winced at the pressure and gripped the island for support, “Manny?! What’re you doing?”
“I thought I made it pretty clear not to trust nobody tonight, mama.” Manny’s smooth voice was leveled as he looked at you, “Just to my surprise, you have some dude who prolly goes to Coachella to sniff coke off some girl’s asscrack, up in our house.”
Max gave the 6’1 man the side eye, “that’s very specific and judgmental of you.”
“I advise you to stop trying to talk to me before I split your shit forward.”
Max widened his eyes at you, wondering when you were going to step in. He could definitely say he personally wasn’t a fan of your husband after this.
“Okay none of that!” You yelled over the music.
Manny glanced around and it was his voice this time to say, “audio off.”
Which shut the music completely off.
Now ain’t that some shit?
“Manny…you better start talking.”
Manny grinned at you but it was anything but sweet. He nodded his head at you, “you want to start making demands when I’m just trying to have your best interest at heart tonight? What about mine? Who the fuck is this?”
“Max is my friend.” You blinked, “are you seriously threatening his life in front of me now to prove what exactly? Never mind that, let’s discuss why you didn’t answer your damn phone when I needed you huh?!”
Manny licked his lips, “I got caught up, my phone was acting up the second I got back in town like I knew it would. I got here as fast as I could…so mind telling me what’s going on?”
“That sounds like bullshit, honestly.” Max commented just for Manny to take the butt of the gun and jam it at the back of Max’s skull.
You yelped as Max dropped to his knees, groaning as he did so. Your eyes were wide as Manny smirked to himself, surveying the larger man on his kitchen floor.
“I don’t think I asked for your opinion, Coachella.”
Shaking your head you stepped forward to check on your friend but the look Manny sent you made you pause. “Max, you okay?” You asked, eyes still set on your husband who crossed his arms.
Max continued groaning, “I’ve dealt with worse. Just give me a second.”
“Ooo,” Manny nodded his head impressed, “Coachella’s got bravery which is the only explanation I can think of to why you’re entertaining him behind my back.”
Scoffing you looked away in incredulity and held up your hands. “First I thought it was me losing my sanity here but I’m convinced it’s your stupid ass!”
“Want to run that by me again, mama?” Manny stepped over Max who now laid on his back, staring up at the ceiling, dazed.
You also stepped to Manny, making your heated eyes meet his. Toe to toe you said, “I didn’t fucking stutter. Separation does not mean I suddenly went screwing other men, making you sleep in the other room does not mean I’m screwing other men. I wouldn’t do that to us. let me make this clear and final to you, I’m not screwing Max. I’m allowed to have male friends.”
“I don’t have female friends because I respect this marriage too much. I expect you to do the same…I know how jealous it makes you to see me with another so I don’t.” Manny shrugged his shoulders as if he was doing you a damn favor.
“Jealous?! Uh, no.” You pointed at him almost laughing in his face, “you don’t get to stand here and insult me. You certainly do and the difference is I trust you! I trust you to put them in their place if they ever take it there.”
“I have colleagues that are women, doesn’t exactly make them my friends.” Manny informed you, slits in his eyes while you just closed your own with a slow shake of your head.
Manny even went as far to curl a finger around one of your damp coils. He studied your face while you tried to get your thoughts together. He loved when you said your peace because that let him know you had a mind of your own, even if it pissed him off a good percentage of the time. It wasn’t about who was right or wrong, it was about who had the last word and who stood by it.
Take that how you will.
“Guys,” Max had been moaning for quite some time, almost missable as you pressed your forehead against Manny’s chin.
“What’s going on in the pretty head of yours, Hm? What happened?” Manny lightly caressed the back of your neck, squeezing and massaging the tension there.
That’s when your eyes met his again, “you need to be honest and tell me what else you’re hiding?”
He frowned.
“GUYS!” Max yelled just as his own body was lifted into the air by his feet and flung over their heads into the hallway.
Both you and Manny watched in horror as the man’s body left a dent in the wall before he fell into unconsciousness. The lights began to automatically flicker on and off along with the music playing again. Protectively Manny gripped your shoulders bringing you into his frame, pointing the glock into the air—not seeing anything to shoot at.
“We have to get to the basement.” Manny suggested.
“What? We have a basement?”
“It’s the safest for us.” He spun you by the hips, hand slipping down your arm to tighten his hand against yours and leading you through the house.
“Max,” you whispered, “we can’t just leave him.”
“Yes we can,” Manny almost smacked his lips, “as long as he’s out, she won’t get him.”
“She?!”
“C’mon, Isla.” Manny pulled on your arm as he led you towards the bedrooms, “or do you want her playing tennis with your body like she did max?”
Well that wasn’t funny. At least not now.
Cautiously you decided to look over your shoulder, seeing Max’s limb peeking out from behind the wall. And what did you do that for? You saw her dressed as if she was from a different decade standing over Max’s body. A gray hand pressed onto the side of the wall, long sickly fingers and black sharp nails. Her face appeared around the wall, peeking right at you, what could have been a beautiful face turned horrid.
Her jaw was down too low, eyes also black with no pupil as she screamed at you before she began floating towards you. The evoked a scream out of you but as soon as it left your lips you felt Manny yank on your arm once more, followed by him shoving you up behind a door, hand clasped over your mouth.
“Sssh,” he coached you, eyes drifting from your frightened stare as he looked at the door listening to what sounded like the clicking of heels.
“Malachi,” the woman in white called.
Which made you clench your eyes shut just as Manny carefully locked the door to your daughter’s bedroom. Keeping a finger to his lips, he guided you away from the door, taking slow steps back to the spacious closet. Sliding the barn door closed behind you, Manny went to the old diaper changing station that stood in the center of the closet. His hands went underneath it, pressing on something that slid the clothes on the rack out of the way.
With the gun he trailed it along the wall, making a symbol. Something you saw once at his grandmother’s house back in Detroit, a family crescent that was also tattooed somewhere on his back. The wall began to move, revealing a large safe. Manny tucked the gun into his waist band and quickly latched onto the handles, twisting and turning before it popped open.
He didn’t look back at you, holding his hand out and expecting you to grab it. You held your head back, staring up at the ceiling, making a silent prayer as your fingers found your husband’s. He led the way, stepping over and into the safe and helping you in as you did so. He closed the safe behind you, locking it with a scanner that went over his right eye.
You waited as he led the way, lights turning on at each step. The tunnel was cold, and illuminated in brown lighting as he led the way to the unknown.
Finding yourself sitting on a cozy tan couch in what appeared to be a control room, you sat as Manny brought you some warm apple cider in a mug you were looking for since you left Detroit. You hated warm apple cider and yet Manny came with a scooper dropping a few ice cubes into your mug. A small smile played on your lips as you stirred the beverage with a spoon before placing it on a side table near you.
“Might as well get comfortable down here, we’ll be here at least until dawn.” Manny mentioned, crouched over a control system that suddenly lit up, showing screens of the house.
He then picked up a walkie and connected it, “Mick? Maeve and Isla’s family good?”
“They’re fine.” Mick responded after some time, “they’re all having dinner.”
Your stomach rumbled at the thought. You were really looking forward to the leftover oxtail rasta pasta in the fridge. However your body was saying you were hungry but your mind was elsewhere.
“What about yall?” Mick asked.
Manny glanced over at you resting your head back on the couch, arms folded.
“We’re good…” Manny started, “first time actually seeing her tonight.”
“Shit.”
“Word. I’ll talk to you in a bit, brother.”
“Alright.”
Manny pulled his lips into his mouth, dropping his head a bit as he realized he had some explaining to do. Standing up he made his way over to you, plopping down so that your thighs were brushing.
“C’mere.” Manny attempted to scoop a arm across your shoulders.
You shoved him away by the chest, “no, fuck that. Start talking.”
Manny exhaled through his nostrils, tightening his jaw before he rubbed his hands against his pants, going to rest his elbows against his knees.
“You’re not going to like what I’m about to say.”
You were silent but did not falter your gaze from the side of Manny’s face.
“This house is one of the only houses in the states that belonged to my family for centuries.” Manny started, “Nick was the one to get it remodeled but I outbid him on purchasing it. Which pissed him off in the end.” He was smirking making you want to slap it right off his gorgeous face.
So you opted for shoving his knee.
He cleared his throat, “I knew we would need a place to stay once it got out to the charter that I wasn’t one hundred percent who I said I was. It was perfect at the time, secluded and away from everybody. I’m shocked homeboy even managed to get here…you know once you get to this area things start to malfunction. There’s a reason for that.”
You held your breath.
“It’s her doing.” Manny continued, “my great great great—however many great aunt who keeps calling for someone named Malachi? Which is her son, lived and died here many years ago. It was brutal.”
Your crossed legs on the floor began to wiggle now, finger pressed to your temple. Manny picked up on this, reaching for your injured foot to rest across his lap as he sighed.
“This was only supposed to be a temporary spot! A month or two tops and we would be out of here, move somewhere else or build a place someplace else. It didn’t register that it’s the anniversary of what happened to them here.” Manny told you while you glared at him.
There was so much he was still leaving out.
“You must have had so much on your mind that you also forgot to mention to your wife that you wanted to move her and your four year old to the land of the damned?” You hissed.
Manny took your words with a grain of salt, “I didn’t know things would go this far. No one told me she would be a vengeful spirit. Like I said, it was only supposed to be a couple of weeks.”
“How did she die? What happened to her and the baby, Malachi?”
“…they accused her of being a undercover witch after she decided to leave the convent back in Mexico. She had miraculously became pregnant before with a boy she decided to name Malachi, most of the sisters tried to help her and convince her to stay believing it was a blessing instead but the head nun shunned her due to the actions she did not commit. So she crossed the border, found a home, this home, gave birth, and settled. What started out as a new chapter soon found a bitter end.” Manny caressed your ankle which actually began to throb again.
Manny sniffed, “the head nun went around convincing others that my aunt was a witch…she was a real hater even after my aunt left. A religious cult that the head nun was cool with—thats ironic right? Located my aunt and stole the four month old baby boy and drowned him in the creek up the road.”
You felt nauseous at this. A hand going up to cover your mouth as you had to calm yourself down. It made better sense now, upsetting nonetheless but at least you were finally getting the basis of this house.
“I almost drowned earlier,” you said with shaky breath.
Manny sat up.
“That’s why I called you multiple times before I reached out to max. It was her, your aunt. She did that to me.” Your eyes stared down at your foot, “she’s looking for her baby.”
“Which they never found, only his blanket…the investigators only found her body hanging and badly burned.” Manny’s voice was low as he realized, “I’m so sorry, mama.”
And you knew he was.
Another thought occurred to you, “Is Maeve going to be safe?”
“As long as she’s nowhere near this house. I made sure Mick understood that.” Manny replied with a curt nod.
Some tension seemed to release from your body at this news. Manny brought your legs up to his lips, placing a kiss at the purplish bruise on your ankle. His hands then slipped up your thigh to rest there while he now tried to pull you into his lap.
This time you allowed it but you were still aggravated. There was already so much going on in your lives and now you just learned about a (rightfully) vengeful family member that you didn’t really want to meet.
“You should have told me,” you said as Manny locked his lands around your waist, “then I wouldn’t have gotten max involved.”
“fuck him though. Forget about Chef Boyardee,” Manny said from over your head making you jerk your head back, “spending all this time with my girl, my wife. I just hope you didn’t bring him around my daughter.”
“What did you say?”
“Which part?” Manny cleared his throat, sitting his body up straight with you still in his lap.
You gripped his face turning it to look right at you. And manny did but not without a side eye radiating from his long lashes.
“How did you know he’s in the culinary business?”
“I told you I got eyes everywhere,” manny boldly notified.
“Manny you got three seconds to stop playing with me before I call Malachi my damn self.” You warned.
Manny held his hands out with a quirk of his thick brows, “oh excellent idea, mama. I’ve been ready to empty out the clip again, it’s been a few hours actually and since I was being generous and didn’t do that to max thanks to my friendliness with his aunt Melissa? I dare you.”
“You are deranged!” You yelled, “how are you friendly with his aunt Melissa?”
“You wanted Maeve in private school and I want her in public school. Did some digging on Max to find that the woman who raised him, his aunt on his deceased father’s side is a school teacher. Fascinating isn’t it?” Manny told you.
Getting off his lap you should have known. This was the man you married, the man who always had a plan. You were starting to wonder did you meet Max out of pure coincidence or was this all part of whatever game Manny was playing?
“…Does max work for you?”
“Nah,” Manny smirked, “you did that all on your own, sweetheart. but…he can if he wants to get that restaurant started.”
“Is that entity even real? Is anything real with you?”
Manny frowned as you felt like you wanted to start bawling. This was all becoming too much for you to handle and you’ve been holding on for so long.
“Hey now,” Manny crouched beside you as you held your face away from him, “of course it is. I don’t play with the dead…I usually dispose of ‘em—
“Oh fuck you!” You yelled getting to you feet, almost forgetting your injured toe as you crumpled to the carpet in front of the man you married, “this isn’t a joke anymore! This is my life and I’m not going to continue with you fucking it up!”
Cradling your foot, your toe began to bleed through the gauze. Breathing air through your teeth your eyes burned with tears as Manny moved around the room for the first aid kit. He sat on the edge of the couch, gripping your ankle to cater to your wound and you let him.
Laying back on the carpet, you bit down on your lip as tears slid down your cheeks with your arms folded.
“I did too much this time, huh?” Manny asked.
Huffing you nodded your head, “yeah…and I think I’m really done.”
He was just about to place a kiss on your ankle but your words stopped him.
“Whatchu say?”
Swallowing you looked up at him saying, “I want out. I want a divorce, Rio.”
The way you said his nickname with such venom on your tongue did not sit right with him. At all so he was on you then, catching you off guard as your breath got caught in your lungs. He was hovering over you now, hands on either side of the face as he peered down at you with those dark eyes.
“Are you threatening me right now, isla? At a time like this?” He trailed his nose along your cheek, making you turn your head away from him as he spoke into your ear, “you and I both know you’re not going nowhere. We love each other too much and we took vows to each other which means something in my book. I’ll be damned if I let this ruin us.”
He still didn’t get it.
“We’ll talk about it later.” Manny pulled away from you, rubbing at his mouth as the ceiling above you rattled, “we got bigger problems right now.”
His eyes were at the monitor as he helped you up.
“W-what now?” You cleared your throat.
Manny could see Max starting to wake up on one of the monitors, which was not a good thing—for him. Moving closer, Manny stared hard at each screen with you standing behind him in utter confusion.
He lifted his head in that moment, tilting it to the side as he placed a finger to his lips. He suddenly moved away from you, staring out into the hallway as the sound of creaking followed.
“Man—
“We gotta go, now!”
“Go where?! I thought here was safe.”
“We gotta go lower, mama. Right now! There’s a elevator in the back of the room. We better get on that or else.” Manny ordered, quickly moving around as he snatched up the walkie and moved over to the wall to send the weapon station down below.
“Or else, what?!”
He came back to you as your heart began to race. Manny pecked your lips, gripping the sides of your neck, “that bitch is gonna flood this area up. She’ll drown us and contrary to your belief, I care about your well-being a ton, even if you don’t think I go about it right. Your ass is mine and I’m forever yours so unless you want to see a reenactment of the titanic…we gotta get the hell up outta here, you understand?”
“Isla?” Manny quizzed.
You held his stare before you slipped your hands in his again. This time Manny allowed you to lead the way to the gated elevator, his gaze elsewhere as water ran down the opposite hallway. It was your turn to yank the lanky man beside you, hands sliding the gate shut after him. Manny was mashing on the buttons, the old elevator suddenly dropping as waves of water began to flood the room you were just in.
Some water splashed into the elevator, the amount was like someone flicking water at you in the pool. Your eyes closed, thinking this was the end but found yourselves descending just in time, to someplace else with a man you thought you knew.

Summer wedding drabble request
A request from @nana1000night to make ari feel a worse pain than he inflected on the reader. You asked for it.
18+ just incase horrible angst discussions of 1 divorce and trying to explain divorce to a child. I'm not a psychologist so don't quote me on that. It also can explain why Maya is so cold to ari in red sea diving resort No reporting or republishing but comments and reboots are welcome
They called Maya Queenie on occasion. Ari's ex girlfriend is called Princess by Maya and subsequently by Ari. Ima in Hebrew is mother Abba is Father
At the airport Maya runs up to Ari his arms are opened for her but she stops short
"Where's Princess?"
Ari took a deep breath he knew this was comming.
"Well Queenies she's- not here."
"Oh the bathroom?" Maya nodded her head in understanding and Ari knew right then and there it was going to be a long visit.
"What'd she say about the ring Daddy did she love it?"
"Sweetheart-"
"I made her a drawing see- thats me and mama and that you and princess and me can I have a lavender flower girl dress?"
"What's princess holding? A puppy?"
"A baby I want a baby sibling I want to be a big sister. "
"Hey we need to talk."
Ari took her to Dylan candy shop and let her get whatever she wanted hoping to keep her happier for longer and he'd be willing to deal with the sugar fallout later.
"What do you mean she won't be here?" Maya was curious. Then her face dropped "is she on a work trip like you did?"
"No sweetheart see she and me, we, it's complicated"
"Ima says complicated means you messed things up."
Ari rolls his eyes of course Sara would say that but this time she's right which he hates.
"You see Princess we don't live together anymore. "
"Oh" Maya peps up.
Ari is relieved because she understands.
"I don't like that house either are we having dinner at her place? Can we stay there I wanna-"
"Maya-"
"See the diansaurs and-"
"Maya-"
"We learned about Egypt and mummies in school and when we talked on the phone remember? When said she was afraid of the mummies."
Ari smiled for a second Maya wanted to go and princess pretended to be scared of Mummies asking Maya to help her be brave. Ari had such trouble not laughing at that. At how sweet it was. At how much he was looking forward to having kids together she'd make the perfect mother. He wanted all the babies to look like her. So beautiful so-
"Aba- are you listening? I dont want to break my promise to help her. Can we go today or tomorroe."
"Maya honey no."
"But whhhhyy." She whined
"We aren't," he had to take a deep breath to steady himself for this but the lump in his throat... he almost couldn't breathe "we aren't together anymore baby, we broke uo."
"Like you and Mommy?"
"Yea sweetheart like me and Mommy."
'We have to go back to court again?"
Oh God was Ari's heart breaking especially because he was now breaking his little girl's heart too.
"No sweetheart see you you're not. It's not like that see Mommy and Daddy fought over you because we-"
"Princess helped you fight for me."
"Yea she did baby but um this sort of break up is diffrent. We- why don't you have some more ice cream?"
She shook her head no.
"This isn't the type of break up you go to court over see she," God how do you explain this to a child? "Mommy and I both love you and-"
"I know half my genes that make make me, me come from you and half from mommy but you both went to court because you both love me so much that you both want me around 24/7. You faught because you both love me too much and that's a good type of fighting. That I wasn't at fault but you both were to greedy to give up any time with me and wasn't something I was in trouble for. You both wanted me around all the time."
Ari was taken back "where did you come up with that?"
"Princess told me one day when I was upset. She said you both love me so much that you didn't want to spend time without me but I wasnt to blame at all."
Ari teared up.
"She's right baby. Everyone loves you so very much."
"So why won't princess fight for me? I thought she loves me."
"Oh darling she does you know that but we weren't married and you just can't see her again its just the way things are."
"Did I make her mad? A Smidgen? Does she think I was forcing her to see the mummies because I-"
"No no nothing like that its just. I messed up and we broke up we went our seperate ways and she can't go to court to fight over tou. Mommy and I are you parents so that's why we could but-"
"But princess isn't." Maya's face dropped.
"No."
"I hate you" Maya suddenly screamed taking Ari back surprising him. That's how the whole day went crying screaming i hate you and even two year old were taken back by her tantrums. Maya wouldn't let Ari hold or her or barely anything. She refused to even take a cup of juice from him. But she didn't run from him, well not too far other wise she knows she'd be in trouble.
"Hey its me )"
"I know"
"Look im calling about Maya she-"
"How'd she take the news?"
"Well um-"
"That well hu? When does she want to see the mummies."
"You don't have to."
"So what you were just calling me to say hey Maya hates you too."
"No she misses you and-"
"And I promised to take her to see the mummies. She doesn't deserve everyone to let her down."
"Why do you hate Abba? Can I fix it?"
Sweetheart you knew you can't fix relationships we talked about this. It has nothing you can do or can't do to change that.
You know how sometimes you just aren't friends with people or you were but now you aren't?"
"Yea."
"Well thats how it is with me your father but I will always love you, you know that. Unless you keep beating me at battleship."
"I thought you said I shouldn't turn my light or my smarts down for anyone."
"And you shouldn't but can't you give me a fighting chance"
"Nope."
"No? not even 1 hint of your strategy and how you beat me every time?"
"No hints I'm just smart."
"You are smart but you have a strategy maybe you'll tell the tickle monster. Maya had fallen on the floor in laughter and and tickles and neither cared it eas in a museum. And people walked past smiling. Thinking it was a mother and daughter having a joyful day out."
Ari wad been keeping his wide stance wishing he was there with them. The tickle fight the hand holding, the smiles and joy and just the everything. He was starting to think his heart could break into dust.
The two of them sat on a bench and Ari could listen. From a corner... just when he thought he couldn't hurt anymore.
"Can I see you again?"
Well Maya honey you're here to spend time with your Abba. Not me. Plus you'll have more fun I won't be distracting him."
"But then I dont get away with nothing."
"With anything you mean. You will. Don't tell him I told you to you have him wrapped around your finger. You're his baby girl and there isn't ANYTHING he wouldn't do for you."
"But what about having a baby brother or sister?"
Sweetheart," she sighed.
"Daddy said he wanted babies with yoy and ill be the best big sister ever Ill even change poopy diapers and I was so brave helping you didnt cry when we saw the mummies.i'd do the same for them."
"I know Bubba and you made me very brave because you're very brave. But once your Daddy finds someone he loves and wants to marry they might have babies then or your mother might."
He wanted them with you. He missed so much with Maya but you he wanted to be there every step of the way for everything everywhere. He was thinking it felt it more than he did with his ex wife.. He was looking forward to sleepless nights and 2 am feedings and love he missed that love you two had so bad. You helped Maya and him get closer and Maya was just as in love with you being her new mother as Ari.
"Maya, honey its not going to happen ok. I know you're sad right now but I promise you in a few days you'll be ok. In a few months you won't even remember me." She added a soft smile.
Tears were streaming down Ari's face.
Everything he ever wanted in life was round the corner, his two girls, and he just killed it. She had eveplained everything better than he or his ex-wife had. But Maya hates him. It's always him because its always his fault. He promised Maya you'd be a family. Ari really did think you'd say yes.
Maya got upset and went to Ran but Ari caught her within a few of her steps. Going to return her, they walked into eachother
"Ari really? God." She was surprised and took a breath "Maya honey I think, " she really wanted to end the day, "Why don't we go out for dinner."
"Does we include you?" Maya pounted. Which only worked on Ari Princess did that with Ari herself and her own father to fall for it. But she did fell bad for the little one.
"Well honey I" she looked at Ari. "I can't stay long I have to go to work. But I suppose I have time for a slice of Pizza."
"Yay!" And just like that her tantrum was gone.
Princess really couldn't even stay for a slice. She had to take it to go.
"I'm sorry queenie but I can't stay i need to go to work"
"But why?"
"Because I need money"
Why my Daddy can give you some"
"No he can't"
"I can" Aris offer was ignored like he wasn't even there.
"Why do you need money?" Maya was still to innocent to understand.
"To pay for things that your smart and pretty head doesn't have to worry about until you're an adult." She booped her nose.
Maya threw arms around her.
"Promise you'll be good to your dad for me?"
Maya nodded. With that she left not saying a word to or looking at Ari. Who was internally begging for just one more glance- even one out of spite or hatred. But Ari's eyes never left her.
"Maya stay here for a second" he followed her out
"Hey, hey," Ari grabbed her fore arm
She pulled away with a "Don't touch me"
"Sorry I'm sorry." he held his hands up in defeat and was he defeated.
"I did more then most ex girlfriends would ever do."
"I know" he said in a small voice putting his hands in his front pocket he felt small he looked small despite his stature.
"You're lucky I love that little girl. I know what an asshole she has for a father."
"If you need money I could help."
"I would say I'd rather sell my soul to Satan but I dont want to be involved in a business transaction with you."
"Isn't there something I can do-"
"Yea be a good father to your little girl. And stay away from me."
She left and ari watched her walk away and then Nick showed up. Her bright eyes and huge smile returned. They kissed eacother deeply.
"How'd it go?"Nick asked even though he knew the answer
"Not that bad he was following us at the museum but I knew he would. He did a bad job of it though. What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to walk you to work."
"Nick."
His hands were on her head and her body and there was nothing he could do but gripe and dig his dingernails into his palm so tightly
"Ok and maybe I wanted to kiss you." Nick smirked
"I didn't want you to walk alone" he moves some hair off her face that the wind had blown in. She giggled. All Ari could think of was that it used to be his his hands his lips his heart in her hands. Her heart in his. The smile he longed for to be directed to him. He still remeberes the peppermint lip balm you'd wear so your breath always senmed fresh.
That night Maya was yelling and crying the biggest tantrum he's ever seen her had.she was slapping him, hitting . He made no attempt to stop her he felt he deserved every. Single. Pain.
Maya was crying in him begging him to fix it. Ari was crying by then too.
"I want to baby I wish I could I wish I could. Baby but I can't I can't fix it."
"If you love me you'd fix it."
"I tried baby I tried to fix it but I can't I can't." He was cry and shy was crying. In fact Maya cried herself to sleep. Ari layed Her down in bed and then just slid down in the hallway crying he wanted to fix things so bad he lost the loves of his life twice, his wife and his now ex she had moved on so quick but all he thought was that he deserved that pain. A peice of him , well more than a peice, had hoped it was just a rebound relationship.. But he didn't want to lose Maya... not her too. Not his little girl. He knew he ruined things for Maya.
The rest of her trip Maya was mad and sad and crying. Ari felt like the worst person on the planet, the univeree. He thought about just telling his ex-wife just to keep Maya for the rest of her life as she didn't deserve a father like him. He had loved his ex-wife once upon a time but not now. But he promised the real love of his life he'd be a good father to that little girl. The one that his ex girlfriend had loved and spent countless hours playing battleship and trying to distract Maya at the court house, making sure Maya knew she was loved. Ari knew there was no one better for his little girl than the woman he let slip through his fingers over a bad, what? 48 hours? And now he ruined both thier lives Maya she deserved better and Ari didnt know if he could but he promise so he was going to try. But Maya never completely forgave him and Maya never forgot her.
