Season 3 rewatch notes
Wait a minute, I just realized that Mike and Will are the only ones in The Party who’ve canonically been dungeon masters. Idk what that means for them, but, yeah. Another exclusive detail of theirs
Oh, lord. Mike’s arm being torn off in the D&D game better not be a prophecy. If those s5 notes are accurate about Mike being seriously injured… I’m scared.
GOD I’ve never noticed how hard Will breathes in the rain scene. Poor baby he was so stunned 😭😭😭😭
The thing that I love most about Jonathan and Nancy is that they’ve been through the real shit. Arguments and hardship through the supernatural and the struggles of discrimination and privilege.
I love how Max is usually the one who speaks after Will. It’s like she’s the only one brave enough to answer after he says something profound or important. I need more of Max and Will’s friendship and them having well-thought out arguments I swear
Omg I love Erica’s little green star on her cheek. It’s so cute 😭🩷
After watching The Princess Bride, I am fangirling so much over Cary Elwes - it’s so crazy to me that he got him to play such a character! I wonder if they thought of him because of all the physical stunts lmao
As much as Karen isn’t in the know of much of anything in the supernatural story, I love how she’s a picture of raw strength in the Wheeler family, the true head of the household. She takes charge. Stops at nothing to help. Not even in the face of temptation. Go Karen.
DAMN I forgot that Billy dropped an f bomb! I thought that the closest that the show got was when Max got cut off in the hospital, but nope. There it was
Shit, I’m tearing up at that scene when El collapses into Mike’s arms because I know that that was real exhaustion. Poor Millie 🩷🩷🩷. She did such a phenomenal job there.
I LOVE whenever Joyce is angry this season. Now that’s how you demand. Straight to the point, justified in her worry, and cutting past any unnecessary bs while still including the cherry on top “please” or “good day” of politeness out of basic decency. I want to be her when I’m upset.
I’m always so blown away by Maya’s performance when she comes out to Steve. Straight (haha) through the heart, so good. And I always, always smile at Steve’s reaction. So in character, so accepting. No questioning if she’s being honest, just immediately questioning her type and believing that she’s into girls. So, so important.
Oh, no. Holly saw the trees moving in the woods. Thus far, she’s noticed the demogorgon coming out of the wall, and now this. She’s definitely a target next season.
When El tells Billy the memory of his mom, I teared up a little! Something about the way that El says, “you were happy” breaks me, dude. Millie and Dacre did so well.
Also, thinking in foresight of s4, Max’s letter is so heartbreaking. The Mind Flayer made a huge show of killing Billy slowly and painfully. I don’t blame her for being too horrified to move. It really wasn’t her fault. That was traumatic. Sadie did amazing there, too. Ouch.
I’m never getting over the helicopter lights being blue, yellow, and red. Were starboard and port always blue and red? And isn’t starboard supposed to be green? It’s all intentional, I’m telling you
I love how Max and Lucas are supposed to be “butchering” Never Ending Story but those two theater kids actually sound amazing. I just wish they harmonized 😆
Oh my gosh Jonathan did the Byers hold to Nancy 😭😭😭😭 I am not okay 😭😭 I never noticed that
Okay wait. This is kinda horrible. I feel bad for saying this. But y’know how Mike has a Will voice? Well I just noticed that Mike definitely does not have a soft voice for El. I swear, he’s always so loud around her like nothing’s different about her 😂😭 Any time he’s sweet with her he’s just like YEAH. COOL. and it’s kinda hilarious.
Jancy is WRECKING me this season wtf. Charlie and Natalia are so cute 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Oh my gosh David’s voice kinda breaks at “doze off.” Fuck.
Erica has blue, yellow, and pink balloons plus a rainbow drawing on her door. I now headcanon Erica as pansexual/panromantic, thank you.
AHHHGHH I can’t wait for the original version of Heroes to play next season over Byler kissing when everyone thinks that they might be dead but they’re just surviving in the Upside Down, clinging to each other and having the highest moment of their lives!!!!!!!
This has been my s3 thoughts for the 6-8th time watching? I forget? And I missed a number of moments because I got too absorbed so, oops. Anyway, I love Jancy, I love Jopper, I love the Scoops Troop, I love Suzie, I miss Alexi, Byler is endgame, and this season was way more fun than I remembered and it always makes me laugh. My list of favorite seasons has been shaken expertly.

Lighting and Mike and Will and El - Full Analysis (Pt. 18)
Okay, so, now we can get to El. There was a bit more than I had originally thought in the last scene, so I have to split ep.8 into another part. But this one will have El and cool explosions (that may or may not be relevant to the lighting, I just think it’s cool.) and hugs. And finally, I will get out of this episode.
But also a brief look at the Hawkin’s crew. It’s at the end though, because of chronological order. But it’s very brief. And important. Trust me on this one.
Anyways, to Mike and Will and El.
S4:E8 - The Reunion.
This is before El attempts to kill Brenner. I wanted to point out that the setting here has a lot of lighting. This shot is similar to the way her face was lit at Rink O’ Mania when she was in the middle of the rink. Her clothes her also haven’t lost any layers yet- which is a good base point to have for when she does start losing the blue in her outfit.
This shot is one of the ones where we can see that El’s socks are blue as well. The three blue items on her outfit are her blue and red plaid shirt, blue and white shit underneath that and her blue socks.
The pizza van shows up a little after Brenner carries El outside gets shot.
Mike spots El first and points her out so Jonathan.
“Boy” somehow still manages to squeeze in-between Mike and Will in this shot. Mike is also, while pointing towards El, pointing in the direction of the rainbow map. This is similar to Argyle driving to the Byer’s house before the shootout, and this map being in frame. This imagery could’ve been foreshadowing to the tone of Mike and Will’s conversation, and could mean something in this context as well.
They see El on the ground from the van’s perspective.
And then she blows up the helicopter. (and it’s really fucking cool)
Mike may have different opinions on this. He seems quite startled while the only other reaction we see is Jonathan, who seems more concerned about the actual explosion and now who caused it. Mike was looking at El before this and this is a similar reaction to when she hit Angela in the face with a roller skate. Jonathan and Mike are also looking in two slightly different directions. They’re reaction to two different things; El and the explosion.
This is how we see El after. She’s not being lit by the explosion, like she could be, but in shadow.
The framing of this shot and how it moves is very neat. Mike is the first one to get to El, but her head (still in shadow) turns towards Will. Or at least in his direction. This is more subtext than what El may be thinking. It alludes to the more important person in this situation. Will is more important than Mike here. While she may be looking at Brenner, the way this is framed shows Will’s importance.
Also interesting is that while Mike’s shirt pocket is pointed away from Will here, it’s also pointing away from El. This is El’s perspective. And the shirt pocket is pointing away from her because she knows/thinks that Mike doesn’t feel that way.
Here, she looks surprised to see Mike. This is an OTS shot from Mike, so we know that he sees this. El’s face? Also slighting less dreary from this angle.
And then we get El’s view of Mike. His face his in shadow. This is very different from their fight, where Mike was in the light and El wasn’t. Her view of Mike may have changed since then.
But more importantly, the van. There is one word on the van in the background that is recognizable. And what is that word? Pizza. On the red surfboard on top and the passenger side door. They could’ve closed that van door, but they didn’t. It’s left open and places emphasis on “pizza.”
It takes El a moment to process Mike being there. She looks confused, a bit out of it, maybe slighty angry?
But then she realizes that he’s there and recovers. Also an important note that her lighting in this shot is normal.
Now.
The ring.
The heart shaped ring that’s been on her finger for all of season four. She hugs Mike and cradles his head with her hand, the one with the ring. This is a very interesting parallel. That we’ll get to in a second.
The shot of Will in the middle of Mike and El is, of course, similar to Vickie and Robin and Vickie’s boyfriend. This also could be a POV shot from Will. He’s been given the power of narration and now it looks like he’s going to use it.
Her hand with the heart ring is in frame again. On Mike’s shoulder. Argyle is also hanging out behind Mike, which is also intriguing. He’s freaking out, but Argyle is the charcter that holds the most symbolic power. Dominos, rainbows, weed, it all means something. Because that’s just how his character works. He’s the ‘fool from King Lear’ character. Says what seems to be nonsense but means the most.
Mike looks away from El towards someone else. She’s looking in another direction, her ring still in shot. The explosion behind her and Mike in the smoke.
Mike looks back at El.
And then he looks at Will again, but this time El notices Will too.
Will is kind of being seen here from both their perspective’s. We’re looking at Will over Mike and El’s shoulders. He’s not glowing and radiant like Mike usually sees him, but he’s in a soft, light.
Then El makes to move towards Will and Mike helps her up, the ring in frame again.
El is looking at Will because she wants to get to him. Mike is looking at Will because Mike is looking at Will. His focus would make sense to be on El because they just got her back, and she’s his girlfriend (although that’s a bit rocky at this point, it being unclear whether they’re even together for most of the season. Mike doesn’t really call El his girlfriend after she leaves the note. Even before the monologue happens their relationship is kind of up in the air.) but he’s looking at Will.
Will has been his focus since the beginning of the season, but this is one of the rare times we see it from an outside perspective.
Mike isn’t looking at El at all. His eyes are locked on Will. We know that this is Will’s view of Mike and El, so Mike’s shirt pocket is pointing in her direction. But it’s also pointing towards the explosion. That could mean Will (because of how the lightings been and because of Will the Wise and fireball), or the state of Mike and El’s relationship, or the state of Mike’s heart after the van scene- so many things.
Or it could just be Will’s perspective of the two of them.
Then Will and El reunite. El doesn’t hesitate for a single second when she sees Will.
In this shot we can see Mike watching Will and El. Similar to how Will was watching El an Mike.
Here! El cradles Will’s head with her hand. Her hand that had the ring on it. The only difference between Mike and El’s reunion and Mike and Will’s is that Will is more important. El’s reaction to Will having zero doubt or negativity and how Will and El are shot in a way that shows they’re more important? It’s because this relationship is more important than Mike and El’s. Or at least the relationship they’re currently in.
Also, Will is looking at El. Not at Mike. This only adds to the importance of Will and El’s relationship. They’re siblings. And they feel comfortable within this placement. Mike, however, looks to Will. This is a key difference between their reunions. Will and El are doing what is expected of their relationship, but Mike isn’t. And El’s expression when she looked at Mike for the first time shows that she isn’t either.
Again we have her ring in shot. The reunion similarities suggest that Mike and Will might have similar connections to El. Established relationships be damned. What we see is what we see. And what we’re seeing is that El is treating Mike and Will almost exactly the same way. Although, Mike is being treated with perhaps a slight amount of animosity.
Then we see Brenner. Mike’s shirt pocket is pointing towards everyone to the left of him, so it doesn’t hold much weight in this situation.
This, however, does. The shots of El walking show her through the van. Argyle being in frame here is also important. Pizza is on the door.
Here, again pizza is in the middle of the frame.
She holds Brenner’s hand in both of hers, in front of the explosion.
And then puts it back to the controller. She’s letting this connection go, in more than one way. He’s dying but she’s also letting go of any relationship they had.
And right after that we get the Pizza door.
And who opens the pizza door? Argyle.
And who’s closing the door with the other half of the logo? Mike.
Argyle and El teaming up against Mike might’ve been foreshadowed in this scene.
Lighting wise, Will has returned. From Mike and El’s perspectives, the two of them are normal. But then the last picture, doesn’t show El’s perspective, we can still see pretty much her whole face. This is Mike’s perspective.
Also, El is in the middle of Mike and Will, and Mike and Will have traded places in the van. She’s right in front of Mike and Will’s usual divider “boy”.
And again when the camera is on Will, it’s from Mike’s angle. And Will’s lighting is far softer than the other two.
Now, I am including this because it’s important and because it makes me feel a lot better about the validity of this analysis.
We see Lucas look at Max. We know who’s perspective the shot of her coming up will be in.
And she is glowing.
Max. Is. Glowing.
And now Steve’s looking at Nancy.
Steve is looking at Nancy.
And she is indeed glowing.
Whether or not Steve is? I don’t know and Nancy’s not looking at him so we wouldn’t be able to tell either way.
But this is saying that this type of lighting suggests romantic feelings. We know how Steve feels and we know how Lucas feels.
So,
we know how Mike feels.

Stranger things s4: the 3 major plotlines and how they intersect (theory)
This is just me trying to do a quick rundown of what I think may happen. I'm not necessarily going to go into all the reasons I believe 'this or that ' will happen cause I just want to keep this as concise as possible. And save the evidence for diff posts . Ok here's my guesses...
1. Cali storyline: ep 1-3 probably focus on the Bullying storyline of El and probably Will too (maybe even Mike being bullied in hawkins). As well as jonathan struggling mentally in those eps. This may parallel max and probably chrissy in Hawkins- talking to the guidance counselor about their issues too. And also in ep 1-3 is probably when Joyce and murray link up and suspect hopper is alive /plan to rescue him. In ep 3 El, like chrissy (who may light a car on fire in hawkins ) accidentally has a carrie moment at the skate rink. El is arrested (or taken in for questioning the day after the skate rink incident). And the car El is in is intercepted by colonel Sullivan's group who want to take down the upsidedown. The women who exits the car is alice creel- Billy's mom. EL is taken to the military base cause they assume she can control the portals- and the military/gov are secondary antagonists who want to use El. Sullivan will most likely try to stop the upsidedown "what ever means necessary". The same goes for Alice - given her possible past with it (but she may be slightly conflicted). While brenner is the opposite: he wants to open, explore, and understand the upsidedown (alluded to in s1). Eventually El (with a buzzcut) may grab her old clothes, escape Sullivan's on her own - and perhaps cause the explosion by using telekeneis to cause the helicopter or jeeps to collide . Although maybe its a super-powered lackey for Brenner who does this and takes El (if her telekenesis didn't return).
2. The Creels/ satanic panic (in Hawkins): popular chrissy is probably a psychic and her death is faked similar to Will -and she is sent to penthurst. But her fake death fuels the satanic panic. It's possible chrissy's ep 3 carrie moment is fueled by Eddie selling her dr*gs- strengthening her powers . In the audition she takes them cause she feels like she's "losing her mind"- which is prob fueled by her parent's ab*se/her sh*tty bf jason) . S1 and the st novels confirmed such substances can strengthen psychic's abilities (or sometimes even activate them for the first time). Maybe after the basketball game, she accidentally causes the car at night to explode -either it being her ab*sive mom or dad's, or something similar. She'll also probably be a foil to el (popular vs unpopular, bangs, superpowers, carrie moment, etc).We know based on s1, Will loved the dark phoenix saga of jean grey. So El is the telekenetic jean. And chrissy would be the pyrokinetic phoenix version of jean. And both El/chrissy may have carrie moments at the end of ep 3. Before all this, in ep 1-2 chrissy may see the counselor like Max, maybe have a brief encounter with Mike, and be in a drama club auditions with dustin and or robin. The audition may foreshadow later events in the season (or give us insights into her psyche before her dissapeareance/ fake d*ath) . similarly, the d&d game in s4 ep 1-2 probably foreshadow later events in the season. Chrissy dissappearence/fake death fuels the christian-satanic panic that targets the d&d club and other marginalized groups. Her name is chrissy after all (aka: "follower of christ"). Its possible kids at school + one or both of chrissy's religious parents help fuel the satanic panic. They will probably blame Eddie and the d&d club for her " de*th". Bringing all the kids into the plotline along with the teens (mike is already going to /in cali at this point). Nancy and Robin probably go to penthurst (which is a county over from Hawkins)and they learn more about victor and maybe even suspect brenner is working there . This may be why kali and co were spotted in Hawkins- they're tracking brenner down . The comment of chrissy "losing her mind" would also foreshadow the twist later in the season, that she's alive and actually at penthurst mental hospital. And it would also show how "made up/non factual" the satanic panic is - similar to her de*th.
It's possible byers and co (after escaping sullivans ' men attacking their Cali house) get into contact with nancy or the others while at a payphone/on the road . so they go to indianna/penthurst because they assume el is there (when El was actually taken to a cali military base). It would parallel how Hopper thought he was tracking Will in s1 , but it was actually El. Or like how lucas in s1, mistakenly assumed El was from pethurst hospital. So they end up saving chrissy who already escaped-and is hitching a ride. Similar to what happened to the fire wielding psychic in the st comic-who escaped a mental hospital (and hitched a ride) with some siblings . Peter may help her with her escape. Byers and co may slap a red wig on chrissie similar to the blonde wig el wore in s1 (when they needed her to have a disguise). It would further establish her jean grey status. Her actress did show a pic of her with red hair and a butterfly necklace (soon after her character was revealed) . Along with other cryptic stuff hinting at these plot points . After this they may hide out at lonnie's to lay low (or some where else). Based on various s4 films, including carrie -Chirssy will believe what her mother said about her. That her powers make her a witch/demon. This would also parallel her to el- who thought she was a monster because of her powers . And jonatahan the non-religious character will try to convince her this isn't true. And jonathan and her probably bond over both having shit parents. Like its possible El is at penthurst but it'd be anticlimactic to be captured by Brenner and saved so quickly by the byers tbh.
the (50s) creels plotline will have allusions to the byers past with lonnie-since the monsters, the numbers/brenner, the fake-russians, the creels, etc are all sentient characters subconsciously created by Will. Aka the rabbit refs, the boy artist, etc. Also, it may be why alice named her son billy (william) because her late- brother's name is probably gil (William). The past of possessed victor (in the 50s) will probably parallel the s4 demogorgan ( which is an eyeless demon called "deep father" in d&d) . victor is eyeless and the newspaper says the m*rders at the creel house were either him or a "demon". Possessed Creel possibly parallells lonnie too ( maybe via flashbacks) . In s3 Will is handed a "forever clock" (creel clock) and a firework called "satan's baby" (equating lonnie to satan). So victor / lonnie (both dads called demons)= demogorgan (a demon called "father"). Possessed Creel may also parallel brenner, neil ? Hopper's dad ?(via flashbacks)chrissy's dad/mom? Etc. And Victor may be vecna, to go more with the symbolism of the monsters representing fathers. Both victor and vecna had their eyes gouged out too. The vecna (in d&d) being an undead wizard who is controlling everything supernatural (as an upsideown origin story)-would be yet another hint that technically Will is creating this whole fantastical story (which will be revealed in s5).
3. Throughout the season,Hopper's russian imprisonment will probably parallel El's current /past s1 imprisonment . And (similar to the creels)any flashbacks we may see of Hopper probably will have similarities to the byers' past as well. The demogorgan will be let loose in the prison and hopper using a flame thrower will try and defeat the demogorgan (father)- in omage to "the thing". Also it's a ref to the whole ' fire ball the demogorgan' quote in s1- by Will. They even wore similar puffy vests in those s1/4 scenes .
The st videogame implied the creels were of Russian descent. And young alice creel was next to a Matroska doll in the teaser. So is this just an easteregg? Symbolism? Was it hopper who sent joyce the doll? Or maybe it was alice who sent joyce the doll? Did she send the doll to joyce to get her farther away - in order to pursue el more easily?
Like ...it wouldn't be necessary. But she may find it easier to apprehend El that way . Especially if she knows how much of a nuisance joyce was to the governement -cover up of Will in s1. If alice liked those dolls as a kid she may have more as an adult.
It could also be symbolic. Matryoshka comes from the Latin word, “mater,” which means mother in English.Matryoshka dolls are a traditional representation of the mother carrying a child within her and can be seen as a representation of a chain of mothers carrying on the family legacy through the child in their womb. I mean if Alice's father was victor; she married someone similar to victor - aka neil. And her son's " father " victi*mized billy(William) -similar to victor (her father) vict*mizing her brother gil (William). And then billy hurt max in a similar manner. Aka cycle of ab*se.
Joyce being given a doll could be (symbolical) because- the Russian nesting doll - is a symbol of a babushka, a powerful female matriarch and the primary figure in the family. And if any family is a matriarchy it'd be the Byers fam.
It's possible by the end of s4
Hopper escapes- prob with murray/Joyce (or maybe Hopper escapes and murray/Joyce just miss him). But as a parallel to s3 and.... you know ... so we don't get a happy ending : at the end of s4 it may end with us learning el (after she escaped sullivan) was taken by papa and is with the other experiments . Similar to how s3 ended with us learning about "the american" ( hopper) being with the "deep father" -trapped in a prison. It's also possible the season ends with El in brenner's clutches and the byers arriving at Lonnie's? Although a part of me still wonders if brenner also takes Will too. Besides the lab experimenting on him in a similar way to el & faking Will's death similar to faking the misc*rage of El. Mike in s1 mistakingly says the "bad men took Will" (foreshadowing?) . In bts pics,a character (in a hospital gown) and the rainbow room trailer looked suspiciously like Noah (Will) .The will st comic had Will throw the book "house of stairs" at the demogorgan: it's about 2 main chatacters (gay guy in love with childhood bff) and girl with buzzcut , who are k*dnapped by government. The goverment run-experiment is controlled by an evil psychiatrists': his goal is too turn the teens into weap*ns for the government .
we have to wait till s5 for all that drama in s5. In s5, Kali may try and rescue el who is trapped with papa. Meanwhile in s5, byers and co are maybe with lonnie? And s5 would be the season they finally reveal - the fantastical elements and certain characters were created via Will's memories of tra*ma, powers, immagination etc.

with the stranger things s4 vol 2, I want to talk about some of the good things I really loved that happened. It's obviously hard to think about, but so many good things did happen and I wanna just give those a shout out.
1) El and Hopper's Reunion. let me tell you, that was the most emotional and precious moment in all of the show. the way she looked at him as if somewhere, deep down, she never gave up hope he was still alive... the saddest part, to me, in the scene was I realized she never could look for him. she didn't have her powers anymore, so when he "died" she could never do her psychic thing and make sure he was really gone. that must have been one of the hardest things of not having her powers.
2) Hopper and Joyce's Reunion. honestly, just about damn time.
3) Mike's Confession of Love to El. i'm a huge mileven shipper so that was the most precious moment for me. it was so right for them too, because mike really was what always made eleven feel believed in. since s1 he was who always assured her she was amazing, she was a hero, she could do anything. though will's hidden confession of love was heart breaking, he was also so right in how el would always need him because he was someone who brought her out of that darkness and showed her she was more than just a lab rat. she could be a friend, she could be a hero, she could be a daughter. mike isn't always my favorite character, he's always judgey and his temper is all over the place, but one thing about him is he always, always believes in the people he loves. he always makes them feel special and like they belong. and he has never stopped loving el, not one single minute.
4) Jason Disintegrating. i'm sorry I just hated him so so much. the guy was delusional and killed one of my all time favorite characters.
5) Max's Best, Most Loved Menory. i will cry. she was happiest at the snow ball and im just sobbing its fine.
6) Steve Not Dying. i really was prepared for this but thank God they didn't do it. considering s5 will probably continue immediately after s4vol2, because s4 left in a cliffhanger, every character predicted to die is still a huge possibility. so im weary. but boy. thank god he's still around.
7) Hopper Fighting a Demogorgon with a Sword and Winning. what a scene. what a man. just so good.
8) All the Villains in Past Seasons Together. i know its weird but i loved seeing the demagorgon, the demadogs, mind flayer, billy, brenner, the russians, and vecna all in one season. it just feels like it brought all of the seasons together even better.
9) El Getting her Powers Back. it was just epic. like I knew it would happen but when she crashed that helicopter boy howdy was I applauding for her. i also liked how in the end it was implied she could also control the hive mind. when she used her powers to break free she didn't just break the upsidedown vines, she made them get off of her like she had control over them. that was really interesting to me.
10) Vecna Being Behind it All the Whole Time. this was i feel like already a no brainer once he was delivered into the story line, but in a way they also confirmed he was also the one who chased will into the upsidedown in s1.
11) El, Will, Jonathan, and Joyce a family. the way el ran to will when they first reunited was so precious. i always wanted will and el to be brother and sister and this season delivered that. i think the most common trend in st ff is that el and will are siblings and I love it. it was a huge want for me to see in the show that I honestly never expected to really happen. im so glad it did.

random sv s4 things
idk how lana came to trust fucking anybody since every single person she’s met who is nice has tried to kill her
not hyperbole. every single one of her nice boyfriends have tried to kill her, even the one-offs like the magnetic dude
this show and their weird age-consent dynamics like just bc jason and lana never had sex it’s still hella weird also it’s full on played romantic until idk the last third of the season when jason goes full evil
SO MANY DEAD TEENAGERS i mean this was always true but there are so many
ok i made a jokey post about this but lois and clark legit kill a dude together. he… disintegrates in between them. it’s amazing. WHY IS THIS NOT A BIG DEAL lol
in gone when sam lane enters with lois, she stands at ease behind him. i’d like to think that’s lois’s subtle form of subterfuge bc sam is 100% not at ease with lois investigating chloe
ALSO! it’s implied to be a common occurrence that SAM LANE SENDS HELICOPTERS AND TANKS AND ARMED MEN TO TRY TO GET HIS DAUGHTER’S ATTENTION. TRY. HE TRIES. and it’s also implied that he’s failed multiple times lol
sooooooo this season basically says clark was always supposed to drive lana away bc then she could go to paris and meet jason so he could introduce her to her historical doppelgänger so she could get that tattoo that would bring her home and put her on the path to one of the stones so clark could make the diamond that opens the fortress
that’s some next level intricacy that is NEVER mentioned again lol
ditto on lex’s ~poisoned blood WE NEED TO DRAIN U EVERY 4 HOURS lol also i don’t remember the stones being mentioned in s3?????
the number of “i can’t bring people back from the dead” lex plots/lines and how ambiguously the show plays lex’s near invulnerability PAYING THE FUCK OFF in the finale. used to be an interesting anecdote to his character (is he meteor infected????!???) but it’s next level meta shit. like LEX LUTHOR CANNOT DIE bc his destiny is to fuck up clark lol
how the fuck ARE chloe and lois related? is sam gabe’s brother? was ella gabe’s sister? chloe’s mom related to ella or sam? chloe and lois are best friends but we never find out anything about their relationship at all. AT ALL.
sigh clark and football is so pure. it’s great character development for him to go from being truly afraid and insecure in freshman year, so much so that he decides not to pursue it. to be confident in his powers to the point where he defies jonathan and asserts his independence. it’s not fear and insecurity driving him now. it’s a genuine need to branch out on his own and put to the test the limitations he’s set himself. once they get that out of the way they bring in the external dangers in recruit. it’s just too bad. he just wants to play LET HIM
also i love lois? so much? SO MUCH

CODE RED: Will is going to be Number 12!
exhibit A) Matthew Modine (who plays Dr.Brenner) posted this on instagram.
Exhibit B) I already discussed why Will has powers in more detail here.
“Both El and Will could communicate through different dimensions (Will exploded 2 phones , El exploded a radio at the school). Both of their moms’ had “crazy aunts” - powers are genetic. Both had their brain waves monitored at the lab and their measurements were off the charts, plus they were being unknowingly recorded on video. El and Will are the only people who could touch, speak, and hear each other in the void. They both tore through walls (with that pink gunk between the normal world and upside down). They both can track others when concentrating -Will found Hopper, El found Will. Both communicated psychically by transferring their conscious- El to talk to Mike in his basement using the void (in s2) & Will to his mom in the living room (in s1). They are the only magical d&d characters (mage & cleric). When El uses her powers to their highest capabilities, her eyes turn red (at the end of s1 and 2 ) … so it’s interesting that when Will was fighting for control of his ownbody his eyes went from hazel to black. And in s1, Will’s storyline is all about him communicating through flickering/shining lights- and when El uses her powers lights always flicker. Also before Will goes missing , he asks Dustin for his X-men comic- later in reference to El ,Dustin asks “Do you think El was born with her powers like the X-men?” And when Mike says El is “channeling him (Will)”. Dustin says “like professor x”. clearly hinting that they were both born with powers, like the X-men.
In s1 Will was described to be “shadow walking” In D&D Shadow walking is – “ largely illusory, but quasi-real. characters can use this spell to travel rapidly by stepping onto the Plane of Shadow, moving the desired distance, and then stepping back onto the Material Plane.” This quote perfectly summarizes Will’s power - which he was shown to be using in s1 & s2 (before his possession)- he can be partially-present and can physically interact with both dimensions at the same time. This explains how he was standing in the real world next to Mike in the field, while the mind flayer took possession of him in the upside down version of the same field.
Also, in the show, the only people who have powers are women: Terri, Kali, and El. However, in the cannon prequel novel “suspicious minds” Terri, Alice, Gloria, and Ken have powers. So as of now, Ken is the only guy in the ST universe who has powers … and he just so happens to be gay . And people suspect Will is gay… so… on to the next point XD
The show and comic hint Will had dormant powers or used them and was unaware he was doing so (before the upside down incident). He sent himself accidentally to the upside down (the lightbulb glowed just like all the lights in Hawkins did when El closed the gate in s2) also El accidentally sent herself there too. The comic heavily implies Will was born with several powers (similar to how El has multiple powers). His may be shadow walking, teleportation, and invisibility. All 3 of these powers in D&D are powers of a wizard/sorcerer - which is synonymous with the term mage (which is used to describe El). Also, in the show the password Will picks for castle byers is ‘Rhadagast’ (a wizard in lord of the rings). According to D&D invisibility is a level 1, teleportation is level 5, and shadow walking is a level 6 in order of increasing difficulty. However, It wasn’t until Will’s possession that Will truly became a cleric (which I’ll explain in detail later). Will always had powers and was unaware he was using them (before the upside down incident)- the only powers he used at the time were invisibility and teleportation .Do you guys remember when Jonathan said Will was “good at hiding” cause teleportation and invisibility seem like something a kid who hid from his abusive father might of used accidentally A LOT!
However after his possession, Will becomes a cleric. “Clerics are given their powers by a god” (in this case he would have been given similar powers to the mindflayer). So will is going to be OP as F***!
And before that post, I discussed why I thought Will & El would be kidnapped by the government at the end of s3 here
Exhibit c) “The promotional poster for st3 states “One summer can change everything”. While David Harbour states , “There is a major event at the end of ST3 that will dramatically change the course of the rest of the series”.
in the 1st pic a gun’s pointed at her face and in the second she’s being led away into a helicopter
The next photos show Joyce and Will hugging ,but in the following pics Will is gone.
Essentially the scenes of the kids looking back at the empty Byers’ house is the last scene in s3. Every season has a one month time skip- and the clothes that Dustin, Mike, and Max were wearing included pants and or long sleeves. The fact they spoiled the ending indicates it’s a red herring. It’s not simply that the Byers moved- it’s that they moved due to the trauma of losing Will. I believe throughout the season Joyce will want to move (like Bob wanted)- the only thing holding her back is the fact that Will’s support system (his friends) and Hopper are there. But after Will is taken away she leaves.”
exhibit D) Will’s comic references Dr Brenner and a novel that foreshadows later events, post here.
“Martini? Like Dr. Martin Brenner! Who the Duffer’s said they’re bringing back. And if what I said about the s3 finale of El and Will being kidnapped by the government is true. It would make sense for s4 to be where he’s brought back.”
In the book “The 2 main characters are very similar to Will and El. Literally the boy , Peter is quiet, gay-coded,and in love with his “protective” childhood bff . And Lola (sounds like s1 El-androgynous, buzz cut, brown hair, and eyes)-they team up to survive and are the first to meet. Essentially, Peter and Lola’s platonic love for each other- and their dependence on each other , allows them to keep their morality, mental health, and physical safety in tact- and this will probably echo the Will/El dynamic. It’s about a psychiatrist who kidnaps and tries to brainwash orphans into becoming weapons/spies for the government.”
So YEAH, along with all that, the fact that Will went missing in s1, and El was missing for most of s2, only verifies to me that both will be taken at the end of s3 and be separated from Mike and others for most of s4 (since it would have Will & El’s stories finally converge). Alot of people don’t realize that Will and El’s narrative arcs have been paralleled to one another through the whole series. The fact that they both have powers, were both used as spies, have ptsd, are both described as ‘quiet’, both had their dads force them to kill animals, had abusive dads who used them for their own gain (Papa- as a spy, Lonnie for the settlement money), had narrative arcs where they tried to get back to their mothers- and back to their “home” (friends & family), willing to sacrifice their lives to save everyone else from the monster, same stuffed lion plushie. The fact it’s practically cannon Will was the one who made up the whole “friends don’t lie” thing - that El loves so much. Since in ep 1, Will was honest with Mike about having a bad roll , despite Dustin and Lucas encouraging him to lie to Mike.
And this is why it’s pretty much confirmed to me. Honestly, I’m going to cry so much in s4 when we first see Will with a buzzcut and the number 12 tattooed on his wrist... and El with a buzzcut again and both being experimented on. Also in s4, we’ll also see the other numbers in Brenner’s care as well. As it would match with the poster and the book “House of stairs” that was referenced in Will’s comic book. * I encourage you to look at my links, since I went into more detail :)
