#(another) great sv rewatch

My mom just got to the Accepting Anxiety episode of sanders sides, and she fucking *gasped* when Roman said there were other sides. Full on shock and surprise. She started asking me all these questions about who knows about them, who they are, etc etc.
It's really great that I get to see her reactions to these things. I've been in the fandom for so long that, I forgot how shocking the revelations are first watch. I'm pacing myself through this rewatch with her, and the series is so much more digest-able when you spread one to two episodes across a few weeks. (Which, I could turn this into commentary on my feelings about the decline in TSS content, but I'll save that for another post.)
Right now, her current favorite side is Logan, but I think by time Janus is introduced, and we get to the longer episodes like SVS or POF, its going to change to Patton. Gah! I'm so stinking glad she's enjoying it so far.

Another step away from brain soup issues, exercise = done.
Today's DD was a 1' bear plank. I held it for the whole duration, again. Slooow breaths help things a long. Happy I managed it!
I decided to start rewatching SvS, for bg noise/amusement. Because Reasons.
Day 4 of the VP was done at Level 3, in one superset. A really fun one. There was at least one suppressed snort why doing one of the balance stands. Balance holds are great to do when watching something funny. Less "Try Not Laugh Challenge" more "Try Not to Lose Balance FROM Laughing."
Janus is such a sassy bastard. :,D
After a couple minutes' rest...
Day 4 of the AoS:CE, done at level 3, 30" rest in between sets. Still quite fun here. My favorite exercise today was the alt chest expansions.
That "one angry man" line kills me every time.
Aaand now. Will I get any writing done today? We'll see.
#adventures with fitness#made me want to do some tree or half moon poses (yoga)#pffft#patton's a gd disaster

Character ask game:
Teal'c
3., 12., 24.
3. Least favourite canon thing about thos character?
So I've been rewatching SG1 (again) and one thing that never sits well with me is how he gets with his wife. You have to understand her position, beloved.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
He gets another chance to live off base, Jack petitions for it. It sticks and he hosts the team nights regularly.
24. What other character from another fandom reminds you of them?
I don't know really, Teal'c is pretty unique (in a great way). I'm sure I could find one (perhaps an sv hero) but brain not working for that rn

Thinking about how soft Janus was with Patton at the end of svs redux (the even if it’s counterproductive scene). We see him always get frustrated and mad and even in this moment because he sees Patton getting hurt not helping thomas at all he tries his best to still be true to himself (ha) and tell Patton it isn’t all bad, don’t worry. Idk it’s just- we haven’t seen him be so soft with someone before it was cUTE AND SWEET-
HHHHH Ashley!!! Yes!!
Literally this is the first time Janus is supporting another side. Patton is lost and confused, his whole worldview has suddenly flipped upside down and he's left questioning everything about what he thought he knew was best for Thomas. Janus recognizes Patton's dilemma and wants to support him.
This really the first time they are both learning to work together. Taking care of Thomas' wellbeing is now a team effort. Janus is trying to assure Patton that even if the problem isn't always gonna be straightforward, that the answer isn't always gonna be clearcut, that sometimes things may be counterproductive, that it depends on the situation, Janus will be by Patton's side (literally at the end card) to help guide Patton into making the right decision for Thomas and that Patton can trust Janus' opinion.
That scene is such an important moment to their relationship and the real turning point of what we should expect their interactions to be like in the future. They are both learning to listen to each other and have a real conversation. Patton is seeking help from Janus and Janus is willing to recognize Patton's sensitivity and speak to him in a way that Patton can understand. They are building up trust.
It is such a great scene! Thank you now I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch the second half of pof for the millionth time

My True Identity: foreshadowing and cruel irony
I promised this analysis long ago. I promised I would have finally started the rewatch.
And here I am. After all this time, it's finally rewatch time.
Before proceeding with this, let me clarify a couple points:
These analyses won't have a clear schedule. As you know, some episodes take a lot of time, while others are much simpler and/or shorter. I will just post every time I finish an analysis.
Not all episodes might be worth an analysis. Some might be fused into one post, others might be completely ignored. That doesn’t mean they’re useless, but only that I personally have nothing to say about them.
For now, I don't plan to talk about episodes I talked about, like DWIT and POF. But who knows, maybe there will be something else to add, when I'll come back to them? Still, for now don't expect anything new for these two episodes.
These are all my personal thoughts, so I could be completely wrong about everything. If you disagree/agree/want to add something, please feel free to do it.
As always, I might talk about all sorts of themes, so read at your own risk.
And now, let's begin.
_______________________________
An unclear plan
When he looked back at the first episode of what would've become Sanders Sides, Thomas himself admitted he had no clear plan about what he wanted to do. Would he film just a bunch of vlogs with these characters taken from his Vines? Would he do silly, funny sketches and talk about some random theme every time? He had no idea.
And this episode shows it: it really looks more like a simple, light-hearted vlog with funny characters, rather than what it would've become.
And this is probably what makes it a very intriguing start. Looking at it in retrospect, you can find a lot of stuff. You can see a lot of cruel irony, considering what these characters are saying and who is saying what. You can see a lot of points that will actually be discussed throughout the series. And you can even notice a lot of foreshadowing.
_______________________________
The main point of Sanders Sides
[Thomas]: Do I really know myself as well as I should? (...) I need to have a sit-down with myself, figure myself out, and maybe come to a better understanding that we all could learn from! Let’s do this!
This first episode might not take the future developments of the series into consideration, but the main point was still here.
Thomas doesn't know himself well enough. There's a lot he has to figure out. He needs to talk with himself and learn more.
Considering who are the last two sides Thomas learned about, this is just adorable. Look at this young Thomas, so cute and naive, thinking: "Oh yes, I will learn more about myself and it will all be fun and games! :DDD". So adorable, he has no idea what the future has in store for him.
This also connects to another point I mentioned in my analysis about the Dark Sides: before starting the series, Thomas didn't know his sides well enough. And we can see it in the way they interact between them and with Thomas.
For example, this part:
[Morality]: And no matter what, no one knows you better than yourself. Am I right, Tony? [Thomas]: Not my name. [Morality]: Then what is it?
I know it was a joke, but it was also a confirmation. Not even his own heart knows him well. Thomas never truly spoke with his sides - and they never truly spoke between them. They've always played a role - the teacher, the prince, the dad. Now they can start knowing each other.
_______________________________
Possible foreshadowing about Roman's arc
[Thomas]: Like, okay, relationships (...) where do I stand in those regards? [Princey]: I have a pretty ideal vision of love... There's someone out there for me... One true love... [Logic]: But you tend to overthink things, rule out possibilities with logic, dream up obstacles with each new connection you make... [Thomas]: And that when the anxiety kicks in. Maybe that’s why I haven’t found a person for me yet.
Oh boy, I can feel the last episodes and Asides looming over me.
Let's analyze each part of this conversation:
1) Thomas (and Roman) has a pretty ideal vision of love. One true love waiting for him. And now, guess what? Thomas is in love with Nico. And we all remember how Roman welcomed the idea of this new love in their lives.
[Roman]: I so... SO badly want this. I- I'm desperate for it...
And also how amazed he was, when they came back home:
[Roman]: A POET! To top it all off, he's a poet!
Considering the above premises, would it be so difficult for Roman to start idealizing this relationship with Nico? To consider Nico the “one true love” he talked about? To put him on a pedestal and, at the same time, search inside him all the characteristics the one true love should have?
This could lead to a very interesting possibility: Thomas putting Nico under the pressure of being his perfect man, to have all those characteristics his dreamy, romantic side wants to see. All while considering him incredibly perfect to the point of becoming inhuman.
All of this could end up only one way: scaring Nico. Maybe to the point of driving him away from Thomas.
2) Thomas overthinks, “rule out possibilities with logic” and dreams up obstacles. Could this also be a possible foreshadowing?
At the end of FWSA, when Thomas asked if they were ready for this relationship, Virgil stopped smiling, all while the camera slowly zoomed on him. The message was clear: Virgil isn’t ready for a change yet.
So we have Roman, who sees Nico as the perfect, ideal man of his dreams. And we have Virgil, afraid of changes, overthinker by nature and prone to self-deprecation.
The ingredients are all here: it is very possible that Thomas/Roman will put Nico on a pedestal and, the moment Nico is scared by Roman's adoration, Virgil starts to freak out and to talk bad about himself, because why someone so perfect and dreamy like Nico would ever love someone like Thomas?
This could potentially lead to a heated confrontation between Virgil and Roman that could be the metaphorical last nail on the coffin: Roman is already hurt because Patton sided with Janus. Nico drifting away from Thomas and Virgil's self-deprecation might convince him that yes, Thomas is truly bad and unworthy of love like Virgil says. He himself is bad and unworthy because he's not the perfect Creativity he should be.
And this can be a great starting point for his character arc.
_______________________________
OH THE IRONY part 1: no one learned anything (yet)
[Morality]: But that’s okay. The important thing to keep in mind is nobody’s perfect. Everyone comes with their own flaws. [Thomas]: Including me. [Princey]: Yes, someone will accept us, flaws and all. Until that day, I shall learn to love... myself.
Oh hey, look: the end of POF and Roman who still hasn't learnt nothing.
Jokes aside, I love how Patton is the one who says that everybody has flaws, but he excludes Thomas. It's Thomas himself who says he has flaws as well.
Doesn't that remind you of anything? Like this moment in SvS?
[Patton]: Well... Nobody's perfect... Except for Thomas! He loves his friends!
Patton saw Thomas as perfect and pure from the start. I love this, because it's very subtle and you don't notice it - until the events of SvS and POF.
But while Patton is finally learning (after almost 30 episodes) that Thomas isn't perfect, Roman is still very far from his goal of loving himself.
That's probably why he needs a romance this much: by focusing on someone else, he can easily ignore how much he doesn't like himself and his flaws.
And hey, I can even guess the name of these "flaws" he doesn't like so much.
_______________________________
These words are not foreshadowing at all
[Logic]: Um... Are we bringing up flaws now? Because if so, get ready to take a lot of notes. [Thomas]: Oh, uh... [Logic]: -continuing- Okay, you ready? Here we go. You procrastinate A LOT. [Morality]: You can be a bit selfish with your food and your other belongings... [Princey]: You’re definitely not the most adventurous person... [Thomas]: Okay, maybe this was a bad idea if I'm supposed to be learning to love myself. [Logic]: Ah, but remember, everyone has flaws.
Let's not forget that Thomas still had no clear plan, while filming this episode. This was supposed to be just a vlog.
But look at how the universe made these characters say these things. Look at dear sweet Patton, bringing up Thomas’ selfishness. How cute, he really has no idea what episodes are waiting for him.
And Roman brings up Thomas’ fear of changes. Awww, how cute, he has NO IDEA of the guy that will become his worst nightmare and his bestie at the same time <3
_______________________________
OH THE IRONY part 2: just look who's talking
[Morality]: Well, it’s important to be nice to ourselves and cut ourselves some slack every once in a while... [Princey]: Wouldn’t want to be our own villain, would we?
LOOK WHO’S TALKING.
Just look at the absolute irony of Mr. Selflessness talking about the importance of being nice to ourselves. Mr. Thomas-Should-Be-A-Martyr saying that cutting us some slack is good.
All while Mr. I-Thought-I-Was-Your-Hero tells us that we don’t want to be our own villain, right? Right?
_______________________________
Three fundamental questions
[Princey]: Well, what do you wish to look for in a relationship? What are you hoping to gain from having another person in your life? [Thomas]: Um... I don’t know. Someone who’s a nice compliment to me... someone who wants a long stable relationship... someone who indulges in the same sense of humor, and um... someone who can binge-watch cartoons with me.
This might be considered another foreshadowing of Thomas and Nico's relationship - maybe even the solution of the drama that will take place, after Roman and Virgil's fight we suggested before. The best solution: not putting Nico on a pedestal and seeing him as the perfect man, but appreciating him for who he is, for the normal guy he is - a guy Thomas loves and nothing else.
[Logic]: With everything you've learned, what do you wish to do with your education? [Thomas]: Ooh... I am not sure... I’d love to figure out ways to help the environment. Science was always my strong point and I love chemistry.
As I said multiple times, I think Thomas' decision to leave chemical engineering and become an actor will play a huge role in Logan's arc. And this question slighty hints at this.
At this point in time, Thomas still wants to use his education in a fruitful way. He still wants to use science, it's still his main goal. Doing silly videos is just an addition. "A good start", as he said:
[Thomas]: I think just being able to put out silly light-hearted content into the world is kind of a good start. It makes me really happy to do that. [Logic]: Well there you go. A good foundation.
And that's how Logan considers it as well: just a foundation. Not something that will take a huge part of Thomas' life. These videos are just a start.
This explains his reactions in the following episodes, especially how much he insisted on Thomas having a real job: after all, these videos are not something serious. Why focusing so much on them?
This could potentially be the starting point of Logan's increasing frustration and the reason of his final snap in season 3, that would also start his character arc.
But Patton’s question is what really surprises me:
[Morality]: What positive impacts do you inevitably hope to bring to this world?
Not only this screams POF, but it shows something for the first time: that Patton is silly, but he’s also clever. He’s not a complete idiot. He likes to be silly, he IS silly, but this question proves he's a lot more mature than he seems.
And if you think this is just a one-time thing, don't worry, we'll see it again in the future.
Is this a foreshadowing of my next analysis? Well, the episode was all foreshadowing, why can't I foreshadow something as well? ;)
( Support me on Ko-fi )

Reaction Redux (I know it doesn’t make sense but it sounds cool)
Alright, here is my initial reaction to Putting Others First: Selfishness vs Selflessness Redux.
It’s finally here, I’ve watched it a total of two times and currently have it on in the background as I type this, and I have a lot of feelings. All of which would be too much for one post, so after I do this I’ll be making a few separate posts addressing certain points I’d like to expand on further.
So what I’m going to do is have the video playing as I write this out, that way I don’t miss out anything I wanted to discuss. Basically it’s not gonna be a full on analysis, just a lot of random ramblings with what I hope are some insightful gems sprinkled throughout. Consider these my notes for all my future serious analysis posts.
Good? Great. Let’s go. (Also spoilers under the cut)
So, how did I feel as I watched the video for the first time? Well considering I got the notification for the video while I was still at work, I couldn’t get as excited as I wanted to be about it because I didn’t get off until 8pm and had to deal with one too many dunderheads so I was pretty grumpy once I got off.
However, as soon as I got home and retreated to the safety of my isolation fortress (aka my bedroom) I was finally able to get excited as I got on my laptop and pulled up the video and let me just say I was a mess the entire time. I missed my boys!!! I knew they wouldn’t all be present, but I still missed my boys!!! And I loved seeing them again!!!
First things first, that song at the beginning! I think it’s called Review Redux (correct me if I’m wrong) it’s such a freaking bop and I wish it was longer because I could listen to it all day. I loved the artwork and little details that went into their characters, and how each of the circles represented who was singing/talking by their colors. Fun stuff and a great way to recap everything! As well as foreshadow things to come within the episode… “If our goals aligned with his what would that say?” Roman you’re in for a rude awakening bud…
Also, the little moment near the beginning where Patton is about to shut Thomas’ negative thinking down, but stops himself and allows Thomas to explain why he feels that way. Showing that he’s learned to ease up just a little since he learned to do so in Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts. Good for you Patton.
Speaking of Patton, oh he is so confused. I understand where he’s coming from, and honestly everything he said are things I have been taught growing up, and this is something I’ll address in another post because I have a lot of things to say about it. But just know that I adore the development Patton has been going through and watching him grow and mature.
Oh yes, I must mention I was pleasantly surprised to see Logan. I didn’t think he’d show up in this episode, or at the very least have a brief appearance, but I love how he took part and by far the funniest part in this episode (to me) is when he had so much to say in one little post that it popped up and hit Patton in the nose. It was one of the few moments where I laughed out loud and I rewound it a few times on my first viewing.
Plus Thomas being more concerned about the blinds than Patton. My type of humor. And Roman actually gets to use his sword for once, good for him!
(Funny enough as I typed this the video got to that part at the exact same time so I got a nice little laugh again)
Which brings up my next point: Logan getting yoinked after Patton skips his dialogue. No one talks about how he does his little impression of that philosopher, am I the only one who found that utterly adorable?
Let Logan geek out over philosophers please. He clearly loves it so much.
Then we get to Roman believing he’s the one responsible for everything, wanting to give up the driver’s seat to Patton. And just… This exchange of dialogue:
Thomas: “Roman, I only mean well when I say…” Thomas: “That that is the stupidest thing you have ever said.” Roman: “Oh Thomas, you’re just blowing smoke.”
I don’t know why I enjoy this so much but I do. Give me more of this. I crave it now.
And I just need to make a whole post about Patton in this video, there is so much to unpack with him alone.
Looking back and noticing that Thomas only starts listening to Logan after he’s been replaced by Deceit kinda hurts.
Speaking of which, can we appreciate how much better Deceit has gotten at impersonating Logan? Looks like he took Roman’s advice and focused on the little things. Good for him.
Alright, one of my absolute favorite parts from this episode and where things really start to shine: Patton freaks out and turns into a giant frog because he’s so desperate to have an answer for them he flips and honestly, sounds a little crazy. Which, I don’t know why but I find it both menacing and hilarious at the same time?
Also the fact he turns into a frog because he was talking about Frogger earlier, nice touch! (And Lilypadton that’s so cute)
Then we get probably the single greatest character entrance in the history of character entrances. We find out that Deceit finally reveals himself and steps in to stand up to Patton and get him to see how his actions have been having a negative effect on Thomas.
The way his voice changes from Logan’s to his own, his music kicking in, “The Lord of the Lies” oh my gosh it’s all just perfect! Also Roman’s “Reptilian Rapscallion! Reptilian Rapscallion! We’ve got a code yellow!”
And if I may: Roman: “What have you done with Logan?!” Deceit: “Nothing at all and I resent the question.”
WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM YOU SNEK?!
(in all honest probably nothing but what if)
Important to note here that Roman instantly begins defending Patton from Deceit as soon as he accuses him of misleading Thomas. This goes to show just how much Roman views him as a villain. Or in other words: Patton, good. Deceit, bad. A viewpoint he continues to hold onto until the end of the episode, which also deserves it’s entire post because we all know how much turbulence that caused within the fandom.
And to the observant eye, you’ll notice that the cane (or staff) Deceit uses is the same one that dragged Logan off screen.
Frog puns. That is all.
I just, I love Deceit’s dialogue throughout this scene. It’s stuff I need to hear and tell myself on a regular basis. And I’d honestly rewatch this part (along with the rest of what Deceit and Logan say later on in the video) because it’s all something I need to also teach myself. But this ain’t meant to be a personal post so I’ll just move on.
Deceit’s walk towards the camera. I don’t know why. It’s so smooth. He’s amazing. I love him. Snek…
I have problems don’t @ me.
Also no one is mentioning the reference to that one “Turn based rpg” short that Thomas made with his friends and I find that sad because it’s a neat and fitting reference given the theme of this video. Also earlier on when the trolley problem is first brought up all the people on the bottom track are Thomas’ friends. Another neat little detail, though sadly, their digital selves perished.
PETER SINGER
Logan doesn’t seem to like Deceit much, not outright hate him or anything, but it’s more like he just tolerates him but doesn’t seek to get on good terms with him. Which is a shame because as both parts of SVS have proven, these two have the capacity to work together. Which is why I hope Logan gets a debate episode with him as well because out of all the Sides, these two have interacted the least and that needs to be remedied (especially when they’re my two favorites)
Deceit is trying to make Roman understand, but he’s so caught up in this black and white thinking that he disregards everything Deceit says! Why? Because the last time he tried to hear Deceit out he was reprimanded. (In other words, I relate to Roman so much in this that it hits a little too close to home and I’m definitely making a separate post about this.
Deceit: *confused* Trees? And I’m so glad I found out I’m not the only dunce who thought Deceit’s name was going to be written on his hand…
But seriously this whole moment, with the buildup, Deceit’s reluctance to share his name, the music, I’d put it up there with Virgil’s “I was one of them” for best Sanders Sides scenes.
Also, Deceit’s name is Janus! I was a little iffy about it at first, but since I didn’t ever really have a prediction for his name, I wasn’t disappointed and the name is growing on me.
And then, the moment of trust is immediately ruined by Roman laughing. Dude, come on. (again though, post for another time because I understand where Roman is coming from here)
In all seriousness though I just love the last bits of this episode. The emotion, the angst, it doesn’t hold back and I appreciate the team taking things a step further than normal. Usually, moments like this are followed up by a joke to play it off, but they don’t do that after Roman sinks out. They stay in the moment until it’s had time to sink in. I wish the episode had ended a little more somberly, but I think this is a good step in the right direction. Showing that there won’t always be a 100% happy conclusion to things. Sometimes you need to take time in between to figure things out.
This line: “Do you think there’s a limit to how many times someone can say sorry before you have to admit that they’re just bad for you?” This line is so important to me within the context of the episode and outside of it. I won’t get too personal but I will say that I was raised to believe that if a person wronged me in any way, that if they said sorry, I had to forgive them. Even if they did the same thing over and over and over again. As long as they apologize, you have to forgive them and move on. And that has messed me up in so many different ways, especially when those people are family.
Janus sums it up best with “It depends” because yes, some people make the same mistakes again and again. But there’s a difference between someone trying to change and accidentally falling back on old habits, and someone taking advantage of your “forgiveness” that they continue to do those hurtful things because they know they can get away with it and not have to change.
Also, while it’s totally fine for people to dislike Patton, I can’t understand how anyone could watch this episode and claim that he’s still the same as he was at the beginning of SVS Part One because he has changed. He has finally realized just how much he’s been hurting Thomas, and even Roman. He sinks out at the end to apologize to him, he recognizes his faults, and he’s seeking to make amends. He wants to do the right thing here, and keep in mind that recently a lot of his views (which are also Thomas’ views) have been flipped on their heads and they both need to rethink some things. It’s part of growing up and becoming your own person.
I need to make a whole post about the more personal things that I got from the last three episodes (excluding Asides) because there’s just so many important things these episodes teach and I feel the need to address them.
Also everyone sleeping on the fact that Leslie Odom Jr. just casually makes an appearance and attempts to start a pilot episode for his own series “Odom Sides” which I wish him luck on. He just wants to be in the room where it happens.
Everything Patton did was for Thomas, so he wouldn’t be left in the dark again. He promised to keep fighting but ultimately, ended up fighting himself. Am I deep yet?
“Those imperfections don’t make you any less worthy of love” can you tell how much this episode means to me yet?
Janus’ “I’ll take care of him.” Ack, he just cares so much… My gosh… Where did this character come from and what did he do with the slimy boi? (I mean that in two different ways)
Oh, there he is. That’s my boi.
“There are smarter ways to get people to do what you want anyway.” “There are much less barbaric, much more fun, forms of sabotage.”
Parallels? Maybe? What the heck I love Janus whether he’s encouraging Thomas to look after his mental health or plot his schemes in the shadows. Do I trust Janus? Oh heck no, of course not. There is something suspicious going on here and I both love it and hate it. More on that in a different post though.
“You’re not stuck with an evil snake boi. You’re just stuck with a snek boi.”
Yes Thomas, continue to overthink every little issue until it results in a mental breakdown. Hm, sounds like what someone with anxiety does… I suppose that’s why this series exists.
Okay call me a bad person but I almost always space out during Thomas’ messages to the viewers at the end of the videos. I don’t know why but I cannot focus on them to save my life and usually end up skipping past them to get to the end card. I dunno, maybe because it takes me out of the moment? Especially during episodes where they don't’ address the audience at all and then suddenly “Oh yeah! This is a Youtube series lol” it just feels out of place in more story driven episodes like this one.
Okay am I the only one that’s kinda creeped out by Lee and Mary Lee? I dunno they just seem, off. Like if they were characters in a horror movie they’d be that overly nice couple that turn out to be the killers. Those are the vibes they give me. Maybe it’s because I have zero people skills due to being homeschooled all my life and the only social interaction I get is with coworkers so I dunno. They still creep me out. They creep me out more than Remus. And he legit freaked me out for a bit before he stole my heart. (I suppose this means I need to make a separate post about these two because I do have some opinions about whether or not it was a good idea to actually include them at the end. When I said I had too many thoughts about this episode I meant it)
And if the end card is any indication, I’m going to assume that the Sides are invisible to everyone except Thomas. Unless they’re just “observing” and not even Thomas can see them at this point, given he shows no indication of seeing or hearing them there. Maybe they get to choose when they’re visible? Or Thomas does? I dunno, the rules of this universe have never been clearly stated and are inconsistent.
I didn’t expect Patton to be the first to accept Janus, and I’m kinda glad I was proven wrong. It does seem fitting with Patton’s growth and I liked their little moment at the end.
And that wraps up my commentary. I hope you found something in this mess of, things. I plan to go more in depth with my separate posts which I’m going to have fun writing, so be on the lookout for those!
Also at the time of writing this I now have 63 followers?! Thank y’all so much! I never thought this blog would get this far and I’m so glad it did because I’m having a lot of fun with it and hope to bring out more content regularly! Again, thank you!!

😂 Funniest line/scene 🎭 Best scene
---
Thank you so much for the ask, anon! These are both really tough ones; the series has so many great moments that I don’t think I’d ever be able to narrow it down. But I’ll do my best!
Funniest line/scene: The first one that comes to mind is the cyberstalking bit from Flirting with Social Anxiety. (That whole episode is top-tier for comedy, imo. “He fears things too?!” is another priceless Virgil moment.)
Honorable mentions, off the top of my head:
Logan’s “NO YOU CAN’T PLAY WITH US” from Losing My Motivation
Roman complaining about Logan’s extremist water agenda (Logic vs. Passion)
“THAT’S what repression is?!” (Patton, Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts)
The whole “nudge... down a flight of stairs” exchange from Putting Others First (it’s peak Dorky Melodramatic Villain Janus and I love it)
Best scene: Another hard one! I really don’t think I can choose a favorite, but I rewatched Accepting Anxiety yesterday, and the climax of Part 2 is still up there for me, in terms of writing and acting. I love how each of the sides experience the effects of Anxiety’s room a little differently, and I love watching the tension ratchet up before any of the characters are fully conscious of what’s going on. It’s also just... extremely sweet, with each of the core sides reaching out to Virgil in their own way, culminating with Roman’s poignant “You make us... better.” Hits me in the feels every time.
Honorable mention:
Janus revealing himself and confronting Lilypadton in Putting Others First. That scene, followed by Janus’s name reveal, was such a satisfying payoff for all the buildup of the SvS arc. (Also “I thought I was your hero” is maybe the most heart-shattering line Thomas and Joan have ever given us, and tbh I’m still crying a little inside.)
There are more, I’m sure (I’ll probably think of at least three right after I post this), but these are all moments that have stuck with me for one reason or another.
Thank you again for the ask!

Hey Jack, this might be an odd question considering that the show's been over for years, but why the love for Smallville's Chloe Sullivan? I mean she's a loyal friend and all but her character wasn't very consistent throughout the show's run (lbr, almost everyone on SV suffered from inconsistency at the writers' hands, but with Chloe it was near-epidemic; rewatching the series, I find she comes across as less of a fully flesh-out character and more of a plot device inserted to cause drama).
I feel the complete opposite way. In fact, I found her to be the most developed character on that show - which probably has a lot to do with the fact that she was created for the show and therefore there weren’t any major restrictions in what they could do with the character. I’m sure that plays a part in your perception of her being inconsistent, but for me, I found that they established who the character was extremely well, which allowed her to adapt to the crazy Smallville storylines they’d throw her (and everyone else’s) way. And it all mattered in it’s own way, in shaping her. Her journey culminating in becoming and beginning the Watchtower was perfect, and even though Allison Mack left the series as a regular in Season 9, and her story resolved by joining another paper in Star City and leaving that behind, it was also fitting because we’d seen the character so unlucky in love and so self-sacrificing, that she deserved a happy ending. I think Season 8 and Season 9 did a great job of pulling a lot of those threads in that may have felt inconsistent and demonstrated a level of growth and development for the character that may not exist had the series only ran for four or five seasons.
Outside of all of that, there’s a lot about her character that I admire: her loyalty, how she refuses to give up, how much she cares for the people around her, how resilient she is, and how she evolved from a sidekick to a hero in her own right. None of it felt forced to me, and I didn’t have a problem with the writing when it came to her. Obviously, there were things here and there that I wish they didn’t do, but they made up for it and she still - to this day - remains as my favourite television character of all time.
I don’t know if you wanted me to dive deep into specifics with examples from the series as to why I love her or not. I did appreciate finding this question in my ask, because I love any opportunity to talk about Chloe Sullivan. I hope this response was adequate enough for you :)

As expected, Dealing with intrusive thoughts is now one of my favorites
Here I come with almost all of my reactions on the episode, even though I tagged the spoiler warnings I put everything under the cut just in case. Enjoy the emotional rollercoaster while I'll probably go and rewatch it again.
Okay kinda expected one or two of the warnings but all of them together what is gonna happen???? (Though they make sense after reading the title)
HELLO FRESH BACK AGAIN
"I'm awesome and I can do this" there goes my boy. *said boy falls flat on the floor* ...come on
I felt that yawn bc I stayed up all night waiting for the video but it dropped at 8 am, I'm an idiot who should've gotten more sleep
"help me" why is he such a mood "everything is going wrong in my life" same but YOU SHOULDN'T SAY THAT LET ME HUG YOU
They're all sinking up so fast god I missed my bois. Also the general awkwardness of Virge and Pat, greeeeat something will go wrong
Virgil just ignoring everything and touching the railing, a mood
ALSO PLEASE LET ROMAN IN THE SITUATION
SECRET SECRETS ARE NO FUN TELL ME NOW OR ELSE WE'RE DONE
wait why does Ro want to be deeply troubled- man are you okay-
LOGAN'S HERE
"your most extreme reaction is an eyebrow raise" "FALSEHOOD" "I stand corrected" omfg
"what are you ta- what are you talking- what are you talking about?" I loved that whole take it made me feel complete
"Look I barely got any sleep" this can apply to a lot of us and I love just how we're all always like "TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF" but in the end this is where we all end up anyway
Okay I'm very curious about these troubling thoughts though
"so sushi" FUCCC I DIED RIGHT THERE
"Don't act like that was an accident" "everybody, Virgil. Let's give it up for the Purp Man" these speak for themselves. Also the purp man is my new fav nickname and I'm gonna use it.
4:17 Patton is adorable bye
"if you continue to push this we're going to end up in really dangerous territory" AND THAT'S WHERE THE TENSION STARTED TO BUILD UP
great flick
"am I delirious or is this the funniest video I've ever made" I felt that
YOU HIGH-JOCKED
okay but when Thomas starts disassociating I also feel really weird like as if there was something blocking my own hearing for real?? And not just the audio edited like that?? Maybe I'm just too tired
WHAT WHO WHHH first intrusive thought making its way what is gonna happen
OH MY GOD ROMAN WATCH OUT ALSO THAT'S DEFINITELY A NEW DARK SIDE OR SMTH LIKE THAT
W HO THE FUCKLKDSL IS THAT A MOUSTACHE IS THAT GLITTER WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HE WEARING WHAT IS HE DOING THERE PLEASE- okay but he looks crazy af I like that
"-evIL" "-SHOW UP"
First time I watched the scene where Ro gets knocked out I literally just screamed "ROMAN" in a high pitched sound I was shook wtf my bOY
Patton and Thomas's yells in unison plus "YOU KILLED HIM" I just I JUST
"Ah, he's the Duke" "....... boo" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Okay but his voice is so on point with his character portrayal he's so weird it's awesome?
SONG SONG SONG and oh goodness the visuals I can't fathom how much editing work must have gone through this, they're all so talented.
"aunt patty naked" A G AI N??
"IM GONNA WHIP YOUR BUTT"
a snaKE IT'S DECEIT oh my these silouhettes are so great this is my favorite scene
this is gonna be stuck in my head all day
THE COOL MIRROR EDIT.
god i hate him so much already but i'm super intrigued he's so chaotic the whole team made a wonderful job i'll never stop saying this
"i'm really stupid right now" just how much out of context relatable content are we going to get on this fine day?
omg the dark version of creativity, which can be associated with intrusive thoughts, that's very clever
THE JUICY STUFF DANCE
"Repression can be very bad indeed" I mean he's right tbh it leads to never solving the problem at all
GO LOGAN GO HAVE YOUR TIME TO SHINE FINALLY i missed him
"i can't hear youuuuuu" much like "I don't understand what you're saying I don't know anything about words" THE DARK SIDES ARE ALL SASSY LITTLE BITCHES
pattonnnn did a real good job
THE BRAVE HANDSOME UNBEATABLE ROMAN and mashed potatoes
"scary" and Virgil just gives Thomas a look idk I live on the little details (Im ten minutes into the vid and look how long this post already is)
GEE Remus (already using his name bc it's shorter) looking so offended at the label and then pointing out it should be a Virgil problem whAT DOES THIS MEAN IM SHAKING
WHY WOULD HE BE DECEIT AGAIN IM DYING. "Idk if you guys can tell but I'm a little silly"
"then why are you lying" no everybody I don't need angst
THE BLACK AND THE WHITE THEORY I SAW GOING AROUND good job to whoever thought of that
JOAN
the forbidden dance
INTO A BUTTHOLE WHAT IS IT WITH HIM AND BUTTHOLES
there u go thomas said it too
haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate FHDSLAKLFD
irresponsible parenting, Logan completing the parental unit of the sides
"maybe there's hope for you after all!" me looking at all my wips
REMUS' LAUGH IS PERFECT. also "BITCH WHAT IS *YOUR* DEAL"
"you've never been one to soften the truth" OH BOI HERE WE GO
"do we have some case of brain swap???" I legitly said "maybe" in unison with Patton the first time
Vee pls stop putting Thommy boy down he's having a bad time
Logan trying to put some sense into the situation is my only spark of hope for this to turn back good
REMUS IS SO DRAMATIC
That lick was ....... let's pretend it never happened
"you know who can help us with that???" DECEIT'S SONG COMING UP that was great, imagine the chaos that the duo would create
"THATS WHAT REPRESSION IS?"
gasp Remus trying to make Virgil angry at Logan shall not stand DON'T PUT THEM AGAINST ONE ANOTHER HE'S JUST TRYING TO HELP
"you all are not listening to Thomas" this is the development I needed
"you're just para-" and he cuts himself. You all know what I'm talking about. Foreshadowing probably? This happened too back then when Roman was almost calling him the same. And then Virge looks so hurt I- "thank you for being on guard" that made me want to cry idk
the whole speech Logan gave? Pure gold. That was perfect.
HE SAID FIGURATIVELY *CLAP CLAP CLAP*
"UH RECORD SCRATCH?"
"does this make me cool?" djslagrkglhf also the teeth thing right after what the
... the deodorant eating ...
DUKEY
The first time I watched I thought his name was spelled Remis that's how dumb my Italian ass is
Still I love his name bc I'm a nerd for ancient culture, ESPECIALLY Roman (and ancient Greek but it isn't mentioned here) and I love the little thing they did with both Creativity names, super clever and very much liked on my part.
"I would never hide anything from you" and he looks at Virgil JUST ALL THIS FORESHADOWING
LOGAN SHOWING HIS TEETH BACK UP
"how about you shut up" Roman what the hecc man
THAT THING INTO LOGANS HEAD UNSETTLED ME A BIT
what are they doing to him today let him rest
double blow
"can we logic our way out of that?" everybody nodding was so pure
"shit"
THAT FUCKING JUMPSCARE I'M SORRY WHAT THE FU
"not all thoughts are meaningful"
He's go- no he's back again
THE CALLBACK MENTION AND PATTONS REACTION... probable foreshadowing to what Joan said about there being a part two of SvS?
"When are you actually gonna jump out of a moving car I've been bringing it up for years" so it's not just me..?
"it is okay if the thought happens to cross your mind"
"everything is okay" I'm going to cry I needed that
I love how Logan touches the topic that there is no problem in seeking help from therapists. There's a lot to say on this, but I was really glad that was pointed out since the are a lot of stereotypes on the matter
why did Virgil look like he was about to cry
Patton I love you
Thomas going to rest is what everyone wanted to see
Virgil confronting Remus I'm living you're doing amazing sweetie
"you tickle me emo"
"it was just like old times" then Pat and Lo's looks in this essay I will
ROMAAAAN
VIRGILS SMILE
"YOU'RE ALIVE"
"I LOVE YOU" ME TOO!! ME TOO ME TOO
"are you good?" "are you hurt at all?" I love when the sides look out for each other
"I'm sorry Logan" right through the heart. Another development.
I need y'all to look at Virgil in this exact second because. he.
that's my point.
All those smiles while Logan's talking are making me alive
"No seriously, you're ... really ... cool" I started tearing up right here. Twice. And then Logan sinks down cause he's not at all used to this and he's feeling t h i n g s please keep on being appreciated you deserve it
Also Patton always learning from his mistakes and understanding them when he does something wrong or he thinks in the wrong direction, that's something I think a lot of people need to learn, including myself. Like, it's okay to be wrong and make mistakes, just do your best to make sure you're improving yourself afterwards, instead of dwelling on it too much
"I don't like him" makes two of us
"Soooo you have a brother?" oh boy
The m i r r o r it's making me cry
"He's gone now and he's never coming back!" "I don't think that's-" "BYEE" what was all that talk about repression for if you contiNUE TO DO THIS ROMAN please I beg of you let us hELP YOU he's making me die inside
Oh boi the big moment. I already expected a bomb to drop since Virgil was the last one remaining.
"You okay buddy?" "Huh?" op somehow was already found crying
"I'm a little disappointed in myself" istg all that foreshadowing mixed with me wanting to hug him
The music picking up tension, this is poetic cinema let me tell you
I noticed how he calls them "the others", all these tiny details is what I'm living for
"I should know better" I couldn't beLIEVE IT, also how he seemed to be so frustrated made something inside me break
the pause and then "Because I was one of them", the music stops for a second, a little second in which you can hear my distant screaming "GOSH HE SAID IT IT WAS TRUE"
Thomas is speechless and just stares at him while the music picks up again and then Virgil's sigh and expression sinking down like "there you have it. that's the truth. and you can't do anything about it" he looks so defeated I'm breaking down.
Did I already mention poetic cinema? I just love angst and this scene was perfect
First time watching I, too, barely understood anything I was listening to in the last parte because all of that was really a lot to take in.
"Those thoughts that you may have thought do not define you"
"[the thought] may simply be that we are really okay"
"Go to bed!" me
no im not in the mood for food because for some unfathomable reason I had anxiety before the video dropped yay me
WHY ARE U DRINKING RED WINE WITH THAT DISH
GAVIN BEST BOY EVER
and last but not least: are you fucking serious Remus
THERE'S A SNAKE IN MY BUTT FANDFKJL
I didn't expect this topic at all and I am so glad it was talked about, thankfully my intrusive thoughts do not bother me as much as I realized other people's do. And I never saw anyone talking about this before, which is why it makes this video so important. I saw a tweet recently about someone saying that it is okay if you think about weird things, the important is that you never act on them, that's what makes you a good person. But I think this video really explains it far better and I never realized how common something like this was? So yeah another time in which I've been educated and couldn't be happier about it. These people really are bringing light to the world gah I LOVE THEM.
oKAY guess I'm done this was a wild ride and yeah I tend to point out EVERYTHING, so here you have it, as I already mentioned if you feel the need to geek out too, I'm here for ANYBODY! (pls I have no friends)

Women’s U18 Day Two Game Four Recap - SUI vs SVK (December 27, 2019)
Note: Sorry for not getting this out yesterday, I felt sick for most of the day, went out to dinner with some family who were in town from Oklahoma (they left this morning), and when we got back I still just felt awful. It’s not really an excuse, but considering I’m doing this mostly for fun I think I’m allowed to be cut some slack. Sorry again, thank goodness it’s an off day today.
Brief Recap:
Switzerland vs Slovakia - 1:30pm - Slovakia wins 3 - 2 in overtime
In-Depth Recap
Game Four of the Second Day (Game Eight of the Tournament) - Switzerland vs Slovakia - 1:30pm
Final Score: Slovakia - 3 / Switzerland - 2 (Slovakia wins in overtime)
Switzerland Goal Scorers: Sinja Leemann (1), Jade Surdez (1)
Slovakia Goal Scorers: Alexandra Stetiarova (1), Romana Haluskova (1), Julia Matejkova (1)
Box Score:
First Period:
No Goals Scored
Second Period:
SLOVAKIA GOAL - Scored by Alexandra Stetiarova, assisted by Tamara Dobosova
Third Period:
SWITZERLAND GOAL - Scored by Sinja Leemann, unassisted
SLOVAKIA GOAL - Scored by Romana Haluskova, assisted by Julia Matejkova
SWITZERLAND GOAL - Scored by Jade Surdez, assisted by Mara Frey
Overtime:
SLOVAKIA GOAL - Scored by Julia Matejkova, unassisted
Swiss Player of the Game: Zoe Merz (2 shots, probably good defensive play but unfortunately I couldn’t watch this game so I do not know)
Slovakian Player of the Game: Laura Medvidova (21 of 23 possible saves, 0.913 sv%)
Player(s) to Watch Out For:
I try so hard to not repeat my players to watch out for, ESPECIALLY in back to back games, but what did I tell y’all about Julia Matejkova?! I specifically said that even though Miss Matejkova didn’t have a great game last game I could tell there was something there! And what did she do? Oh nothing too big except pull out an assist, the overtime game winning goal, and TEN shots in her very next game. Pardon my French but she was absolutely fucking incredible in this game. She had HALF of Slovakia’s shots, and that’s not even an exaggeration. She had 10 shots on the night, Slovakia only had 20 total shots on the night. Insane.
This was another game I unfortunately didn’t get the chance to watch, but firstly Switzerland was lucky to get out of the first period alive, THREE penalties? JUST in the first? They became more disciplined as the game went on but that is just outrageous. How they came out of that first period not only tied at 0, but having a lead in shots, is beyond me. Now I know I’ve already sung her praises this game, but I just have to mention Julia Matejkova’s incredible game again. She had half of Slovakia’s shots, she had a goal and an assist, it was incredible! Much less incredible was the boarding penalty committed by Andrea Klimantova, now luckily the Swiss player (who I could not tell who it was on my rewatch of that moment) didn’t appear hurt, but that was a very dangerous play and Kimantova deserved the 10 minutes she got for it. Still though, thank goodness the Swiss player wasn’t seriously injured.

Brief AMATW Review + Up-to-date MCU Ranking
I finally saw AMATW, since it’s now on Netflix. It was really good. I love the humor, and the story was engaging. A lot of the supporting characters like Luis, Agent Woo, and Ava were great. But it did start to lose my interest in the second half. It ultimately ends up roughly in the middle of my list of MCU movies.
So I am now up-to-date with all the MCU movies that have been released. I took the opportunity to update my ranking of the movies. This list is purely based on my preferences, not on any objective standard of film quality.
1. Avengers: Infinity War - It broke my heart, but I love it so much. I have re-watched it many times, and it hasn’t gotten old yet. I think it is fitting (start of a) conclusion to 10 years of movies. It has stuck with me more than any other movie has in years. Plus, it showed me how to appreciate my new favorite characters, and it inspired me to write again.
2. The Avengers - This is another eminently re-watchable movie, and it still holds up 6 years later in my opinion. The moment when all the Avengers finally start to work together is a classic, awe-inspiring shot, even after many rewatches.
3. Black Panther - I loved the whole cast, writing, and visuals of this movie.
4. Captain America: Civil War - I love this movie, particularly the airport scene and the SV kitchen scene. The Russos really know how to direct action.
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - I love the darker tone and political thriller elements of the movie.
6. Thor: Ragnarok - I thought this movie was hilarious. I also love Thor’s character development in it.
7. Avengers: Age of Ultron - This used to be a lot lower in my ranking, but I have come to enjoy it a lot more on recent rewatches. I love the opening, and Ultron is a good villain. Plus, it introduces my faves (though I still feel bad for poor JARVIS).
8. Iron Man - I still love this movie 10 years later. I think it holds up as its own movie as well as the introduction to a cinematic universe.
9. Spiderman: Homecoming - It’s a fun movie, and I enjoyed everything about it.
10. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 - There was great humor, along with a surprising amount of emotion.
11. Guardians of the Galaxy - I loved the zaniness and the cosmic elements.
12. Ant-Man and the Wasp - See above.
13. Doctor Strange - I loved the visual style and I thought the magic element was interesting.
14. Thor - I enjoyed the fish-out-of-water story, but to be honest, I don’t remember much about it. I haven’t watched it in years.
15. Captain America: The First Avenger - I remember liking it, but I also don’t remember much about this one.
16. Ant-Man - It was fine and amusing, but I thought it was kind of boring.
17. Iron Man 3 - It was also fine, but had significant problems with the villain, etc.
18. Thor: The Dark World - I remember liking it a lot more than most people when it came out, but I have not re-watched and don’t recall much about it.
19. Iron Man 2 - I don’t have much to say about this one.
20. The Incredible Hulk - I only watched this one last summer. It was the only MCU movie that I was actively waiting to end throughout the run time.
