TFP Optimus with a goth and metalhead reader. Reader is female. Fluff.
TFP Optimus x Fem!Goth/Metalhead!Reader
Heyy so this was pretty cute to write. I had come up with a couple different ideas but I went with something simple and took creative liberty. I hope you enjoy!!
Warnings: None, Fluff, reader is human.
Word Count: 1,259
'There's no escape from the thoughts inside my head,
Dark days has taken the best of me,
I can't go on like this.'
Sliding the volume bar up, you relax into the stained lounge not currently occupied with kids bickering for player one. They can be pestering at best. However, you love them a lot, especially Miko. That little rockstar has wiggled her way under your skin more than you would've liked. You can't count how often she's come to you with a new metal song she wanted to destroy your eardrums with, in a good way, much to the chagrin of the rest of Team Prime.
So when your fellow metalhead friend goes home with a big smile on her face and the second guitar she's broken this week, you take the opportunity to relax with your own music. With added earbuds, of course.
'Can you turn back time,
To change what you have done?
To shape who you become?'
Shutting your eyes, you let the rolling drums and metallic melodies flood your senses, the lyrics soothing you better than any therapist you could throw money at.
'DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUUUUU-'
Tap tap.
"GAHH!"
After nearly giving the base a new emergency exit via a Y/n-shaped hole through the roof, you rip off your earbuds to glare daggers at exactly who tapped you on the shoulder in your mid-maladaptive daydreaming.
A very concerned, slightly mortified Optimus Prime stares at you right back.
You have now exceeded your yearly quota for embarrassment in the span of five seconds.
"Oh! Optimus, sorry I-" You fumble for your phone that went airborne to the other side of the lounge, quickly pausing your music and clearing your throat, "Sorry, is there something I can... do for you?"
Optimus recovers from your sudden outburst and clears his vocalizer, "Nothing to be concerned about," He pauses, "I think... but I couldn't help but overhear music coming from your small device."
"Oh, these?" You show him your earbuds, heavily used and on its last string of wire, "Yeah, that's what they're used for. Personalised music only you can listen to from, called earphones."
"Ah, a device that recognises its user," Optimus says confidently, "Would it still be functional if another were to use it?"
"Uh, no," You hold back a soft chuckle. Optimus may be an eons-old robot, but it seems he still has much to learn about human culture, "I phrased that wrong. It sends music directly into your ears. Not only does it sound better, but it's more... respectful to the people around you."
Optimus seemed to understand that, nodding and leaning in to get a closer look at the magical, elusive earphones, "Hm, I see. How interesting, I am not sure if Cybertron ever had these."
You're unsure if you should explain the crucial 'ear' part, but then again, you also had some things to learn about Cybertronians.
"Maybe," You say, giving him an unsure smile, "Would you... like to try them out? I'm not sure how they will fit because, y'know, ears."
The mech perks up at your offer, seeming interested in something other than having a candle-lit dinner and wine with his datapad.
"If you allow me," Optimus holds out a servo, "I would be grateful for the opportunity."
God, he's so sweet. It's like you asked him to accompany you to a high school dance, except it's not. He wants to try out earphones.
"I am sure they will be fine. My comlink had previously been modified to accommodate external inputs."
You smile sheepishly. That's a good enough answer and one you were hoping for. You move from the lounge to step onto Optimus' outstretched servo, and now you realise that you've never actually been held by Optimus. You know he's big, but suddenly becoming inches close to his faceplates and getting a feel for the mech's true size has your mind spinning.
And this piece of heavy metal that holds you like a delicate flower is about to experience true heavy metal.
Optimus studies you for a moment longer, and his optics finally get a proper, up-close look at your unique style, "You look quite... different from the others. Before proceeding with this 'personalised' experience, may I ask why?"
That shouldn't have made your face flush, but it did. Questionable choice of wording, but he's right. You do have a different style even compared to Miko. Instead of colourful streaks of pink and the brash early two thousand' get-up, you chose to adorn yourself with all-black clothing and absolutely no bold colours in your hair. Even your make-up, black lipstick, and harsh eyeliner that would make a Christian mother weep. Optimus would undoubtedly question why you chose a different way of representing yourself.
"Well, I'm sure it's strange to you," You begin, trying to ignore how high off the ground you are, "But it's another way for humans to express themselves. It's more of an aesthetic of sorts, but a way of life for others. I guess you could compare it to Cybertronians choosing their alt modes."
Optimus nods, absorbing the new knowledge like a sponge. For some reason, that was easier to explain than the earphones.
"Ah, so it is a distinct way to present yourself to others—an identity of sorts. We Cybertronians are quite limited in our own modifications, partly due to the war." The mech reaches his other servo to your hair, toying with the ends to admire the softness, "I do not find that strange at all that you would choose to modify yourself this way. It's rather endearing and unique; I admire that about your species."
"That's..." Your cheeks flush once again as you watch him play with your hair, "Kind of sweet." You give him a soft smile, touching his servo near your head. He makes eye contact with you, and that's when your breath hitches, and you clear your throat, "But it's not just clothes or... or other mods we can use - we can use music too."
Optimus nods his helm in familiarity, "Yes, I have become aware of that. Miko can be quite the musician." You're unsure if he's saying that to be polite or if he genuinely means it.
"Yeah, I've been trying to teach her, I promise." You chuckle softly, as does he. You continue, unconsciously gripping his servo, "But music is the pathway to the soul, at least for me. It can help me think and even untangle my emotions or just let them be and only soothe. It helps me live in the moment. Like a... a therapist, if that makes sense."
The Prime seems to have connected the dots, "That is why you spend most of your time resting on the couch listening to your music?" Optimus realises his impudence towards you earlier when he startled you, "I see. I apologise for interrupting your therapy earlier; that was rather brash of me."
God, no, he is exceeding unprecedented levels of sweetness now. His optics' soft, apologetic look nearly obliterates you, thinking he had legitimately interrupted a therapy session.
"No, no, Optimus," You suppress a laugh, "It's okay, really. It's a figure of speech. It feels like therapy. Sometimes it's better."
Optimus exhales a gentle sigh, "Apologies. You humans have such expressive figures of speech I have yet to catch onto."
"It's alright. Now, speaking of therapy." You try to hide your ever-growing affection for him and retract your hand, holding up one end of the small earbud, "How about that personalised experience?"

OYE finally after two days of inactivity this piece is done! First time drawing a car, I hope it's decent! The lyrics above come from the song The Evil Folk by Kaaze, I was listening to it on repeat while I sketched this and it's a song I associate with Marjorie's character as a whole. The answer to the question for Marjorie is probably that she herself is the demon, more than anything.
Car reference down below! v
After some research I found out the most similar model to the Marigold Gang's car we see in the Lackadaisy Animated Pilot is a 1927 Cadillac series 314, so I was looking at these while drawing:
Though I slightly modified the car's hood's shape to accomodate Marjorie's sitting position.
And also here goes the artwork without lyrics in the way, because why not!
I hope to be getting a hang of the damn lighting.

Just watched Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
Anime about heliocentrism.
Yes I know that sounds boring and at first I was like, "An anime about heliocentrism? What, are they gonna animate ancient classes discussing it?" then I recalled "Wait, wasn't the church really against heliocentrism so they, like, thrased Galileo and others for supporting it?"
Yeah that's basically the plot.
Story time! My first contact with this show was with a tweet that said "this is the hidden gem of the season!" to which I was ok maybe I'll check it out later. I forgot about the tweet but later, I saw the OP credit MV for the show and watched it (simply because I was looking for a new song to listen to) and iT WAS GOOD, like HAUNTING GOOD.
The OP gave me the impression that it is some epic historical work like Vinland Saga, just mellower with far less action scenes. I remembered that tweet right then and decided to watch the series immediately. This was when there were still 2 episodes.
THANK GOD I didn't decide to read the manga until episode 3 was out because GODDAMN EPISODE 3 SLAPPED ME HARD.
It was right then when I realized what this story is actually about and why the OP credit is like that. Even the OP and ED credit in EP4 are modified slightly to reflect the shift in the story.
Copernicus, the father of heliocentrism, probably was able to avoid inquisition only because he delayed his publication and died soon after. (And apparently it was so technical only advanced astronomers could understand, clever move but also typical academia.) And it was more than 50 years later until Galileo openly supported his idea and got the church hot on his tail. 50+ years. You'd think there are a lot of things happening in that time. A lot, generation after generation, until mankind could accept the truth.
I won't say more on this post so I'll leave it at that.
I love Rafal so much lmao he's such lovable little shit.
By the way, the series' title is probably a homage to Copernicus' heliocentrism work "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres)." As for "Orb", the Japanese title uses the katakana "チ" (Chi) which in kanji is also how you say "地" (earth/ground), "知" (wisdom/knowledge) and "血" (blood). These are all connected in the story. Incredibly clever and deep word play, I must say.
I am so conflicted like I want to read the manga ASAP but the anime is so profound and well-directed that I just want to keep watching it with full anticipation without knowing what's gonna happen. I'm so gonna suffer and be insufferable again every week.
*frothing at the mouth* Sakanaction, when will you release Kaiju full version????????
I love Yorushika's Aporia chirpy melody at the beginning of the song. It sounds like a child song, but the lyrics is basically a poetic story of curiousity towards the unknown.
*frothing at the mouth even more* OOOH SO THAT AMAZARASHI'S CASSIOPEIA MOORING MV COLLAB WAS WITH THIS SERIES????!!! If Amazarashi got their hands on it then it must have been some philosophical heavy hitter. Source=trust me.
Please tell me there will be a second cour just so Amazarashi can sing on the second cour too
Tl;Dr: Flat earthers have it easy, back in the day you got burned at stake for saying something different about the universe.
#orb on the movements of the earth#chi chikyuu no undou ni tsuite#random saying#ive not been this much pumped over a series since 86anime#i look forward to saturdays again

Bearsville Theater, Bearsville, NY, 10/27/24
If the prevailing emotion underpinning last night’s show was sad, tonight’s was definitely mad. That turned out to be a good thing for all concerned. Amanda released a good deal of anger in a productive fashion, and the crowd was treated to a high-octane performance for the ages.
There were shenanigans — particularly during Missed Me — the set list was shredded (always the hallmark of a great Dresden Dolls performance), and the songs were not so much performed as exorcised with face-melting intensity. If these shows were meant as a warm-up for their triumphant return to Boston next weekend I would say they are ready!
After the show Amanda somewhat sheepishly admitted that they had simply forgotten to do Coin-Operated Boy. It was on the set list; they just forgot to do it. She marveled that they could do a show that awesome without even playing their most popular song. “We’re not a one-hit wonder,” she concluded. I gave her a big hug and commiserated about her ongoing … family crisis, is how I believe she put it to Rey. “I wish there were something I could do to help,” I told her. “You’re doing it,” she replied. A number of us retired to a cabin in the woods for a bonfire to reflect on what we’d just witnessed. I went around the fire and asked each person what their favorite song had been and why. I was expecting some consensus, but everyone selected a different song - no two were the same! And the reasons given were all valid and strong; there was no “Aw c’mon you must be joking!” That’s how good a show it was.
Annotated Set List:
Good Day
Backstabber
Sex Changes
Gravity
My Alcoholic Friends
Missed Me Whenever Brian leaves his drum set during Missed Me you know shenanigans are afoot. He started out on all fours fetching a drumstick, and things just got weirder from there “Brian Viglione,” Amanda proclaimed afterwards, “as the dog, the magician with a rabbit in a hat, and the rabbit itself!” As you do.
The Kill
Mrs. O Lyrics modified slightly to There is no Hitler and no Donald Trump #vote
Pirate Jenny (Kurt Weill, music; Bertolt Brecht, lyrics - but lyrics translated from the original German by Amanda Fucking Palmer herself)
Whakanewha
“We have begun (sorry Crew!) to completely depart from the set list. We were so good last night! Dave has crumpled up his set list!” At this Brian led the crowd in a chant of “DAVE! DAVE! DAVE! DAVE!” in honor of their long-suffering sound guy. Another Christmas (Brian on guitar, Amanda on jingle bells)
Mein Herr (from ‘Cabaret’ by John Kander and Fred Ebb) (Brian on guitar)
Mandy Goes to Med School The prolonged jazzy interlude that they often do during this song was particularly prolonged, particularly jazzy, and heavy on the drums, almost approaching solo status.
<crew intros and thanks>
“There is one more person I would really like to thank. My favorite ever fucking in the world of eight billion years of doing shows I think my favorite security person ever: REY!” The band improvised some uptempo circus music while the crowd chanted “REY! REY! REY! REY!”
“Rey made me cry at the first show yesterday and I told the story last night, but you had to be here, which is why you should come to both.”
“We are now going to play you what we’ve been calling the Boston Trifecta. … We haven’t played shows in our hometown of Boston in like seven years, I think? It’s a little scary! And we thought that we would drag out like the most Bostony songs that we could possibly Bostony play. This is a song from the Dresden Dolls very very first album.”
The Jeep Song
“We were thinking of Boston songs and I was like oh FUUUUUUUCK! This is like the Bostonest Boston song and it is also basically the sequel to The Jeep Song. The Jeep Song is the song about the haunted ex car, and this is the ENTIRE STREET.”
Massachusetts Avenue (Grand Theft Orchestra cover)
Boston
Half Jack Typically the prolonged instrumental intro to Half Jack serves to build tension and anticipation. It’s improvisational, sure, but it’s more designed to set a tone than highlight the band’s musical chops. But tonight? Tonight Brian went OFF. It was essentially a prolonged drum solo during which Brian made his case for Best Drummer in the World. He generally shies away from this sort of naked display of massive talent, but tonight he was apparently all out of fucks and dared the crowd to keep up. It was breathtaking. Girl Anachronism They segued directly from Half Jack into Girl A without so much as a pause for breath. The result was chaotic frenzy. HERE was the manic energy that had been absent last night. This was a sonic firehose aimed directly at your ear holes. The crowd was left gasping for air, begging for mercy, and cheering for more all at the same time.

I attended my first Dresden Dolls show in August of 2004, so this year marks my 20th anniversary following Amanda. I got her a present to celebrate and gave it to her before the show.
Soundcheck! Those lights are really going to make it difficult to get good shots.
Shenanigans!
Due to a poor choice of location tonight most of my pix of Brian looked like this:
Still not quite clear on the concept of hats.
This is what happens when Brian sees me taking a picture of him.
Those fucking lights, man.
Up close and personal with Amanda Palmer
Shenanigans!
That’s a wrap!
Post show hug (photo by Michael McComiskey (probably))

ur music (and “ep” covers and promo material) are all ai generated and it’s super obvious. you’re not a real artist, you just steal from people who are real artists.
you know generating this stuff is really bad for the planet right?
admittedly the promo material might be generated i just used the shit distrokid made so cant say much there. distrokid also used an ai to master the tracks before pushing them out. i just checked yes in the box cause it made the audio quality better
i made all of my album covers myself using canva. if any of those assets (which btw i pay a subscription to use) is ai generated im not aware of it
as for my music - i write all my lyrics myself. i heavily use drum loops and sampling. i download royalty free sounds to use. i also heavily modify my voice using filters which i guess could be considered ai? as in its automatic i dont go in and change everything by hand. im trans n hate how my voice sounds lol so yeah i fuck it up to make it unrecognizable.
ive also experimented with creating a voice model of my own voice to use which is an artistic choice to play with the idea of inhumanity and being a copy or clone. dinner has an audio loop of a text to speech reader over the top of it.
if you dont like my music thats fine. if you think it sounds bad thats fine. theres shit about it i dont like n i made it. im an amateur artist and im learning as i go. i make music because its a fun creative outlet for me. the only reason i put my music on spotify n shit is because people asked me to. im not here to do anything other than have a good time.
n quite frankly if my music sounds like it wasnt made by a real person then good lmao thats what I was going for! its supposed to sound slightly left from humanity. its supposed to sound wrong.
#idk what u want from me#i have like 14 followers and 5 of them r magnus archives rp blogs#cancel me i guess if u want im sure the 6 ppl who listen to my music will be real upset

if the captain were to have his anthem, a song that describes him and represents him in a specific way, any anti-war song would work. but i think what does him justice in a respectful way is pete seeger’s “where have all the flowers gone?”. omitting the “girls” aspect in the lyrics (and if we change it to “boys” for the sake of the captain’s sexuality), the song’s words are tragically beautiful - it’s a lyrical circle going from the flowers being picked by lovers who are loved by men who are soldiers who died doing their military service whose graves are now adorned with flowers - and so on. it outlines the tragedy of army men whose bravery cost them their lives and whose loved ones are left to mourn despite their duty to continue living a vastly different, ordinary life.
however, as wonderfully melancholic as the original is, i had in mind a specific cover of the song - a czech cover. the music is a tad more complicated than the original; it uses an electric guitar, a bass, and drums. but it’s much more nuanced that way - the drums represent the rhythm of a military march. the bass playing root notes with perfect fifths is a symbol of simplicity and repetition (of first joining the army. as the bass modifies the melody with each rhyme in each verse, it also emphasises that the more time the cap spends in the military, the more difficult keeping to his old ways can get). and with each verse, a new element of music is added (keyboard, the guitar plays a slightly different melody etc. to emphasise that this cycle brings new tragedies but can’t be possibly changed as it is a lasting tradition.
and the lyrics. oh, those haunting lyrics. i’m not even gonna talk about the voice singing them because the dissection of its depressing reverb and the suddenly powerful delivery of “where have all the soldiers gone” would take weeks. i just wanna focus on the translation. not your typical non-english-song-turned-english where the song loses its meaning. the meaning is there, but like a hundred times stronger. the lines do repeat, but not from rhyme to rhyme. i’m gonna translate this specific section because it’s so captain coded:
Where have all the soldiers gone
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone
A long, long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone
Gone to graveyards, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
in czech, it’s like this (nearly word-for-word translation):
And where have all those soldiers gone
People, what ever happened here?
And where have all those soldiers gone
Where could they be?
Series of graves in a line
The wind is howling all around
Who will ever understand?
Who will ever understand?
i see a major difference between the last four lines. the original shows complete silence after a battle, how everyone fighting there died, and everything’s gone until another battle breaks in that exact spot. the czech version relays those emotions in a different way; yes, it’s dead silent, but the howling of the wind is a sign of something after death, of mourning coming both from the lovers and the dead, i.e. havers and the captain. and the “who will ever understand?” is somehow a contrast. “when will they ever learn?” to me is clearer because it either talks about the soldiers not learning they shouldn’t go to war or something along those lines. the former can say “who will ever understand [why those soldiers died]?” or “who will ever understand [the howling wind]?” and so on. it’s those endless questions the captain might ask himself from time to time to nobody’s understanding, i feel. when will he ever understand his death, or his love for havers, or his position?
here’s the song in question; i absolutely recommend just because of its heartbreaking atmosphere
#just a long rant really#i’m so sorry#i’m procrastinating writing my thesis :)#also feel free to prove me wrong or suggest other songs that are clearly captain coded i am begging#bbc ghosts#the captain#lieutenant havers#ramblings#Spotify

Digimon Tamers - Episode 24
This episode was fantastic, so many emotional moments. And we got a new ED (and slightly modified OP)! Going into this episode I was a little annoyed knowing they wouldn't actually be going to the digital world yet, but they did such a good job building up the hype that I think it ended up being very necessary to have one last human world episode. So pumped to see how the next arc plays out!
Notes:
When Takato is like "our town..." in the opening monologue does he mean Tokyo? Shinjuku? Just struck me as kind of funny to call that area a town, but what do I know
Seeing the various ways the kids tell their parents about their journey was super fascinating. I like how they all did it in different ways with varying levels of directness. Honestly I think the "I told them it's a school trip" option made the most sense to me. If this was real life there's no way in hell a parent would allow their 10 year old kid to go off into some dangerous, alien world.
Something about Jian's dad interacting with Terriermon is really cute. It would actually be cool to see a Digimon series with adults as the MCs since they have a different perspective on the world.
Juri mysteriously dodged the question about how she told her parents about the trip. I wasn't sure how to interpret that. Did she just not tell them at all? Does she actually not get along with them?
I think Ruki's departure from her family was probably the most interesting. Her grandma has this sort of sage understanding of the situation while her mom is blissfully unaware. The scene where Ruki dresses up for mom to leave her on a high note was really sad.
Suddenly Culumon is in a lantern-shaped cage. Lol where did that come from?
Some interesting Yamaki moments. I guess he's realized the error of his ways and is now on the kids' side? Kinda abrupt, but I can dig it. (Also, he was more handsome than usual this episode teehee)
The scene with the teacher was insane! The kids just flat out tell her they're leaving school and she's like "wtf?? what am I supposed to do with this knowledge!?" In America at least, teachers would probably be expected to report something like this, but they did already tell their parents so...I understand why this kind of breaks her. Like...how is she supposed to just carry on like normal? Moumantai my butt!
Takato's dad's support kinda had me sighing and rolling my eyes, but oh well. Can't project my real world context onto things I guess
^The appropriate reaction. I feel like if the parents had witnessed some digimon battles and saw what their kids were capable of, I might buy it a little more. But Takato's mom & dad just found out that Guilmon exists!
lol @ Shiuchon just kind of rolling with it when she finds out that Terriermon is real. It was nice to finally see them talk to each other. Hopefully Terriermon can set boundaries with her now when he gets back.
Yamaki at the end being like "I'm jealous" is the stand in for me, the 31 year old watching this and being like "why can't I be a 10 year old going on adventures instead of working my 9-5!"
So pleased that I'm watching this at the perfect time! They kept emphasizing how this is taking place at the end of summer. Love it when things work out that way.
Lots of insert songs this episode + the new ED. I can't wait to listen to them all on their own and soak in the lyrics. I like that the ED has a more mature, somber tone compared to the first one.
Side note: I've been calling Culumon "he," but then saw someone on MAL use "she." When I google it I found that Culumon is likely genderless (unfortunately I also saw some spoilers while googling boohoo). Guess I'll try to use "they" now...

OK green day concert highlights bc it’s the next day now and i’m really happy i got to go still. these won’t be in chronological order bc i don’t think like that
billie joe did the freddy mercury call n response thing throughout the whole show and it was sick (i have always wanted to participate in that)
he also kept telling us he wanted to see us “jump around and go fucking crazy” and the entire time i was just thinking BILLIE MY KNEES. PLEASE
tre cool has a really good stage presence (i mean obviously . he’s a performer. but still) also he kept throwing his drumsticks throughout the Entire show he had. so many drumsticks
he was also incredible with his performance of all by myself. funny as fuck song (has an angsty kmhn animatic in its head about it)
before the show these green and pink paper hearts got handed out to us and we put them over our phone flashlights for wake me up when september ends and bobby sox. a lot of the show’s lighting and branding was green and pink too which felt special To Me as someone who. well. marzi is green and pink Das Me. so i’m letting myself take that as a sign that things are looking up bc i need that lmao
someone complimented my epic heart-shaped bag <3
when brain stew ended i pulled my phone out to record what i thought was gonna be the transition into jaded. what i ACTUALLY ended up recording was the transition into american idiot and it fucking ruled
during “know your enemy” billie joe brought an audience member from the pit up onstage and had them sing and it was really cute. shoutout to kierstan i loved watching you jump around onstage <3 oh-way-oh-way
in the middle of letterbomb billie joe paused the song and gave this huge speech about how tonight he wanted to see us all jumping together and dancing together and singing together for us and for each other and for our loved ones and those who are gone and that this wasn’t a party but a celebration and It Made Me Tear Up. letterbomb is one of my favorite songs in american idiot (love me an anthem) and the unity i felt with everyone there as the song resumed was incredible
just. scream-singing lyrics with the rest of the audience in general. extra big love to when the band would play at a slightly faster bpm than the song usually is so we would all sing a little faster too and it was so hype
for most of the show i was next to this blonde girl who clearly was just as passionate about the band as i am. and we never spoke and we didn’t know each other but singing and dancing alongside her was really really fun. my opinion of her was slightly lowered when she pulled out a vape but at least she always blew the cloud somewhere where people Weren’t
during bobby sox (which also made me tear up bc i am a faggot !) someone handed billie joe a pink ribbon bow and he put it in his hair and it was really sweet and queer and i’m so happy i got video of it
sidenote for being like. in their 50s. green day still look really good. billie joe especially. seeing him live made me realize it is not just gender envy i feel for that man he is genuinely just attractive. cannot help my weakness to guyliner and boys who look a little like girls </3 it’s ok tho i needed some middle aged man rep in my “people i find attractive” list. first realized it when he blew kisses to the crowd and my heart skipped i went “wuh oh” to myself
he’s Been doing this for this show but the line “not a part of your redneck agenda” in american idiot was modified to say “maga agenda” which was. satisfying
at some point during dookie this huge blimp-shaped balloon with a sad animal face on the front and the words “BAD YEAR” on its side was carried through the audience by staff and i got some cool videos of it. saw that thing and immediately thought “oh so real”
so many of these songs felt amazing but look ma no brains felt particularly electric to me for some reason
at the start of are we the waiting billie joe jumped down into the pit and i presume mingled with the audience for a bit. it was cool :)
i LOVEDD watching billie jump around and get into character during st. jimmy. he was cheeky and energetic and cute and it was fun
at some point during dookie billie joe was given a mexican flag and he held it up to the camera and wore it like a cape for a bit. viva la méxico
this is standard concert fare but hearing billie joe shout “AUSTIN !!!!” and “TEXAS !!!!” throughout the show and include the location in the lyrics felt really really good. loved cheering with the audience every time it happened
billie joe started singing the “nobody likes you” sequence in a falsetto to mimic the female voice in the recording and slowly faded out to let the audience hit the notes exactly as we sang it with him. it felt like we got to pitch in and help it was cool
for some reason abt halfway through american idiot (album) a solid amount of people in our little chunk of audience just . got up and left. it was really bizarre but also worked out pretty nice for me bc i was able to get better videos and when i had to take sit down breaks i could still actually see the show. which was REALLY nice for homecoming because that song is another of my favs from the album but i was getting Tired and couldn’t stand for the full thing
usually with live music you feel the bass in your head but for some reason i felt it in my chest (as did the friend i was with) especially sitting down. it was a little odd but also made you feel like the music was squeezing your heart which. on brand. i had the song in my veins
the last song billie joe played was time of your life bc. duh. obvious end-of-show choice and i’m sure that’s something they’ve been doing for years and years now. but i pulled my phone out to record it bc it was Sweet and clearly i wasn’t the only one bc billie literally got two lines in before pausing to make fun of all of us for pulling out our phones. we got scolded lmao. i recorded through him chastising us but put the phone away afterwards bc He Was Right. so now i have a recording of billie joe armstrong going “let’s see how many videos we can get on The Youtube” and giggling to himself :]. he laughed through the song too. also later on during the song tre came back onstage with his phone out and got way up in billie’s face with it and made him laugh again. it was very silly and sweet
god the set was so cool. it made me miss doing theatre it was so fucking cool. we had fire and fireworks and lights and fog and
after the show tre pulled out a giant trash can filled with drumsticks (this must have been where his infinite supply of drumsticks was coming from) and threw them into the pit for the audience members. when the trash can was empty he threw the can OVER his drum set and cleared it. i was so afraid he was gonna hit it but he did not
#marzi speaks#this show was so good folks#genuinely one of the best nights of my life. and probably will be for the rest of my life#getting to see green day live has always been a dream of mine and this more than fulfilled if#i needed a win and unity and Live Music real nad

Pspsps roll me something from the non mass effect side of the wip folder pls? [chinhands] maybe one you're super attached to or excited about!!
damn I really didn't anticipate that anyone would care but sure! Yeah! Thanks!
The one I'm most attached to and determined to actually goddamn finish one day is a Kirk/Bones Star Trek AOS fic I started in like 2019. It's called "the gossamer thread, flung" which is also the best title I've ever come up with that isn't a song lyric. It modifies the Walt Whitman poem a noiseless, patient spider.
It's supposed to have 3 acts and I got as far as the end of act 1.
If you'd like to read a snippet I'm all too happy to oblige:
Spock casts one long look at Jim’s stretched-out form, then rises back to his full height. “DRS, I presume, stands for ‘Delayed Radiation Sickness’?” “The one, the only.” “Given that you are the crew’s highest-qualified medical professional—” Leonard can’t listen to this. “Prolonged exposure is a risk I’m taking and one that I am, in fact, expected to take. No reason to let it get both of us.” He sighs. He doesn’t know what to make of this new trend of having to explain things that Spock is already perfectly aware of. Concern, again, probably. Can’t expect a Vulcan to know what to do with that. “Can’t we chuck the artifact downhill if you can’t beam with it? That would be a balm to my soul right now.” A short pause. Leonard glances up only to find himself on the receiving end of a head tilt. Slowly, Spock says, “Not unless you prefer Jim having gone through this, as he would say, ‘for nothing.’” “Damn him,” says Leonard lowly. The breeze that sweeps over the red hills laid out at their feet catches in the strands of hair sticking to Jim’s forehead, and the motion somehow makes him look even less alive: a body left out for the elements, still and uncaring of their touch. “Fine,” he says, his eyes on the shallow rise and fall of Jim’s chest. His voice sounds flat even to his own ears. “I’ll bring it. Don’t leave us down here too long—we needed that shuttle yesterday.” If he expected Spock to argue about the logic of that sentence, he is sorely disappointed. All he says is, “Understood.” Footsteps leading away, slightly off-balance in the deep sand, and then: the clack of a communicator being opened. It’s a while until the beep that signals a successful-enough connection to subspace. Leonard does not know he’s going to speak until his mouth is already open. He can’t bring himself to look away from Jim’s chest. “Spock, I’ll…” He doesn’t know, really. It could be: I’ll look after Jim. Could be: I’ll bring him home. Most likely, and most honestly, it’s: I’ll try. Low voices, and the comm snaps back shut. Spock catches alight in the corner of his eye, the Enterprise’s transporters working their dubious magic. His voice is already half-whisked away when he says, “I would not expect any differently, Leonard.” And then they’re alone.
#I'm on my laptop now so I'm capitalizing things again#it was so hard to pick a snippet for this bc everything was a candidate but here ya go#thanks for asking!#ask meme#ask

Playground is a slightly purplecore-inspired template made specifically for this lovely Discord server for PJO roleplay which you can join by clicking the link. Even though it was made with the server's specific requirements in mind, feel free to use it for your characters from diffrerent universes, roleplay groups, etc. and modify the information slots to fit your needs. The lyrics featured are from the song Playground by Bea Miller, which you can listen to by clicking here. (P.S. The song was written for the Arcane series which you can watch on Netflix. I highly recommend it!)
— to use
Go to the link in the source section. Once you've accessed the template, go to the menu and then click on file. Once there click on make a copy, and make the copy (lmao). The web page should automatically take you to the template ready to use.
— mobile friendliness
Regular, it can be read in mobile but because of the tables you'll need to be constantly swiping from side to side.
— TOS
As I said, the template is free to use. However, I do ask for the credit to be kept. It's also for personal use only; selling it or asking for money for it is forbidden. Don't use it for Discord servers, roleplay groups, forums, or anything else of that nature without my express permission.
Without further ado, happy creating!

[11:02] - Composer!Jongho stretched his arms above his head, a yawn escaping from his mouth. He expected to spend another long night in the studio, tweaking and slightly modifying the track he’d been working on.
You sat behind him on one of the studio’s couches, scribbling any words that popped into your mind. Unlike Composer!Jongho, you weren’t a songsmith. Writing lyrics didn’t come to you naturally. You were particularly struck with the pre-chorus, unsure how to smoothly transition into the chorus while also taking into consideration how the background production changed in major.
Composer!Jongho swung in his chair, catching you biting on your bottom lip. You were stumped, your forehead creased as you tried to come up with a good rhyme.
“I think we should take a break,” Composer!Jongho announced, reaching for his phone, “How about we order some take out?”
Your eyes lit up at the sound of food. Composer!Jongho smiled to himself, finding you awfully cute.
He passed you his phone, telling you to order whatever you’d like. Composer!Jongho, in turn, reached for your notepad, inspecting what you’d come up with so far.
Composer!Jongho smile only grew in size, “Who are these lyrics about?” He inquired.
Your neck heated up, “No one,” You mumbled.”
“Liar,”
“Here,” You thrust his phone back, “Your turn to order,” You pouted.

♪ "Still trapped in this endless dream // I don't know where I'm going tonight" ♪
The wait is over! I have been so confused about this whole concept project since the very first announcement came out (i.e. flying poster landed on the sidewalk) about this completely random Jeonghan & Wonwoo duet, but it's finally making more sense with the full MV out. This whole time, all the company SNS updates kept spamming "THIS MAN", but then the title track is actually called "Last Night" (works out for me in the end).
"Who wouldn't want to go with him?" — What a great way to end the prologue before the song starts!
You can hear the guitar in the intro now! Funny how the editors timed Jeonghan's "This silent moonlit night" with him opening his eyes (the literal translation is more like "moon-rising night").
"Nox" is Latin for "night", which fits the entire concept.
It looks like Jeonghan is eating clam chowder based on the color & how he added black pepper to his bowl (just random thoughts).
"It's a PAIN that digs deep" — "PAIN" is in English. Reminds of the awful font where "MAN" was stylized to also look like "PAIN".
"The more it hurts me, the happier I'll be." — OK Wonwoo XD
The transition from each verse/prechorus to the chorus is surprisingly fast (feels like less than a second in between).
Not a whole lot of rapping for Wonwoo, but his 2nd verse is something else... The cartoon lemon reminds me of his juice box.
BLACK & WHITE ANIMATED JxW FOR LIFE! (even if the cameo was short) I can't stop replaying the scene where Jeonghan falls to his knees dramatically at daybreak (i.e. TIME TO WAKE UP) while Wonwoo kneels down slowly & (mercifully) takes JH out of this (miserable) dreamland.
I assume white-shirt Jeonghan is in reality whereas black-suit Jeonghan is in his dreamland. (Wonwoo wears black during the entire MV.) Whoever styled his hair at the very end when he woke up (with the glass of lemonade) made him look like Joshua. @_@
There is LITERALLY NO VISIBLE CHOREO in this MV (& barely any lipsyncing to the lyrics), so you have no idea what to expect for any upcoming performances (which might only be 1 or 2 at most based on current chatter).
Technically, there isn't a 3rd/final chorus, but after the UNIQUE BRIDGE (thank goodness for that) is a repeat of the post-chorus. Both are enough for my expectations!
youtube
You get Wonwoo as the MV thumbnail because Jeonghan is already on the teaser thumbnail :D It took me a while to cleanly make this GIF of the animation sequence.
As for the B-side solos, I have very different thoughts about each, but I agree that they both could be OSTs (for completely different drama genres, though):
"Leftover (Wastebasket)": I could play Wonwoo's solo on repeat (genuinely surprised by the ballad theme). The chorus reminded me of "Endless Love" by Jackie Chan & Kim Hee Seon (from their movie "The Myth"). This song could be an OST for a modern or historical drama (just have to slightly modify the lyrics).
"Beautiful Monster": I don't think I can play Jeonghan's solo ever again because it's too bubbly for me (no 3rd chorus = more than a minute shorter than Wonwoo's solo). This sounds like an OST for... a Taiwanese idol drama??? (I'm being as nice as possible here)
Full CD is here on YouTube Music! (I wish there was another duet for a total of 4 tracks to make a maxi single ._.)

I actually had two different color versions of Lyric's party dress but they had an even number of votes from friends so I ended up combining them but here's a little comparison breakdown:
A slightly modified color of the original ( the original was lighter and a bit less saturated, more powder blue ). Light Blue could be considered Lyrics "Character Color" because it's what I use for them most often, and it has a closer visual connotation to ice, which was originally going to be the predominant theme of Lyric's outfit. The dress was originally covered in snowflakes and pearls but it made the skirt feel too cluttered alongside the armor and bodice design, so I swapped it out for rose clusters to balance the hard/soft visual features ( Armor, which is related to defense and self protection and an ability to take hits Vs. Roses, which are a delicate and romantic iconography )
The Pros of the L. Blue gown were that it suited Lyrics "cold" personality and aesthetic, the color gives off a sense of youth, and the cool toned armor with the light blue dress feels more suitable for a fantasy theme even if the style is a bit more modern. Honestly this version probably could have been fine without the roses, and I might have added pearl randomly instead, to keep up with this delicate but expensive appearance.
The Cons were that I wanted this material to appear more sheer and gauzy and I was having trouble painting that. If I was picking solely this color, I wanted the dress to have a very layered but light appearance, and it wasn't coming across with the shading. Another friend said they felt like the large swath of light blue washed out Lyric's skin tone, which I can see being true. Light blue gowns also have a very Cinderella feel to them, which might too feminine to suit Lyric, but my biggest issue was simply the texture of the dress
Dark Blue variation! The Pros of this version were that it was personally my preference between the two for inverse reasons as the L. Blue one: Because of the darker color, the perceived weight of the fabric feels like less of an issue---it lends more to being a satin or even a kind of velvet maybe?? Something heavy and rich. The gold trim accents also stand out better on this color, which further push this idea of a very luxurious gown. This color also lends an air of maturity and power to the design which the other color doesn't; where the L. Blue gown feels more innocent and soft, the D. Blue version feels more imposing and Ruler-like with the armor. The covering of blue roses on the skirt imply some kind of untouchable rareness to Lyric and the dress, and it's hard to imagine them being too delicate in this color, which I felt was good for their character.
The Cons were that the blue roses stand out aggressively on this dress, to the point that the design feels more about the roses than about Lyric. Whereas on the L. Blue gown the roses feel like an embellishment to the skirt, on the D. Blue gown the blue roses feel more like a theme, and the snowflake crown and crystal earrings Lyric is wearing feel disjointed from the outfit. Lyric's ice motif was the foundation for their dress, so it felt like it veered into another category of style in this color. The D. Blue color also can border on feeling too mature, where it gives the impress Lyric is older than they are. That isn't necessarily a total failure, but it feels a bit more like a dress for someone in their proud 30s vs Lyric on the border of their 20s, who has never worn a ball gown before. The color also borders on feeling a bit somber for what is a very informal occasion; it feels more like Lyric should be sitting on the throne, not being one of the guests.
I ended up combining them in a gradient to balance out the pros and cons, giving it a sort of Dawn To Evening color. I think that's the best balance of fancy to youthful and fun. The inspiration for this dress originally came from Sarah's dress in Labyrinth from As The World Falls Down---I really wanted to give Lyric dangly earrings and it moved outward from there LOL
