I'm curious to see how you interpret friendships we don't get to see a lot of (Mera and Saiko, Teruhashi and Kuboyasu, Hairo and Saiko (again)...?), just any we don't see together alone very often

Okay okay this took awhile but tbf, my canvas kept deleting on me XD

Gosh i love thier friendships and, while i get that the anime and the comics couldn’t show us much, man i WISH!

Mera and Saiko: they talk a lot of shit over food, Saiko thinks it’s a love language to provide so Provide he will, mera is happy but she is ready to knock down his better than thou attitude in a heartbeat,

Teruhashi and Kuboyasu: Kuboyasu just needs more people to watch these movies with him, please! And Teruhashi was listening! She was paying attention like all good perfect pretty girls do! Until she actually got interested and now they swap movie trades all the time, Teruhashi complains about the story turns and Kuboyasu on the special effects, lean into late nights where they throw popcorn at the TV and dramatically hush each other when their favorite part jumps on.

Saiko and Hairo: honestly? Therapy Session. Saiko goes on about Hairo’s inability to not help, and that it’s okay to say no, whereas Hairo goes on about Saiko’s inability to see past his father’s teachings. It’s okay to have friends and not worry about your future for awhile. They can be teens. All while Hairo benchpresses him cause why not get a little exercise in?

Chiyo and Nendou: i like to think they get together to surprise their friends with baked goods every once in awhile. Chiyo comes in with the hot gossip and Nendou drops in some unknown lore that he randomly picked up on a Tuesday afternoon cause no one thinks twice when saying shit around him. Gossip buddies with a flare for baking

Teruhashi and Nendou: honestly i think they’d have the hardest time to connect, but not for a lack of trying. They just have different ways of expressing love that connecting get’s hard. That is until Nendou offers up playing some games. They start off with competitive games, and whilst Teruhashi is of a higher payed income, gaming isn’t something she can do with Makato around so she’s woefully unprepared. She’s already competitive, throw in Nendou’s playful ribbing and you get the most action pact gaming sess. Don’t worry eventually they switch to Co-op to mess around together with.

Kuboyasu and Mera: i just think Kuboyasu trying so hard to convince his friends to take on motorcycles is very sweet. Of all the girls, Mera is the one to take it pretty fast. And since he wants to make sure they stay safe, he insists in full motorcycle gear. Lending Mera Saiki’s helmet until they get her one, she’s VERY excited about it.

And some mini Kaidou and Saiki doodles since i didn’t add em in. Besides, i wish they had more interactions together on just being first friends. I feel they would watch american shows together, and Saiki only agrees cause he can’t be spoiled.

I didn't intend for this AU to be that big, but I realized I did want to give this a go and make at least something. It's my goal to finish this project eventually.

The AU will be told in segments, comics of various points of the story.

Bonus! Miscellaneous info that doesn't play big into this AU but matters enough to me:

Leonardo is transmasculine, uses he/they/xe pronouns and is referred to with primarily masculine terms.

A version of Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo comics exists and it's Leo's second favorite comic series in this AU.

'Tentative Devotee' is the name of the fanfic I was originally going to write. It was just gonna be a 2-shot fic and a way to navigate some feelings as someone who was born and raised in, and eventually left, a cult.

The initial tone/direction of this AU was much different, Leo ending up in the Foot Clan under different circumstance (i.e. direct kidnapping from Lieutenant and Brute). I found this didn't quite work for me.

so this is a bit of a newer headcanon i have of him, but i feel like he's transmasc or genderfluid

raf never really cared about gender roles and things like that, but he overheard miko talking about how she didn't mind being called a girl or a boy or whatever people wanted to call her

he asked her about it and she replied saying she knew herself better than anyone else so it didn't matter what other people thought or wanted to label her, she knew who she was and that's the important part

miko then went back to talking about monster trucks or something and raf's just *cue the mind blown emoji*

he definitely went as the Dr Emmett guy from back to the future or as some mad scientist character for halloween

is actually pretty ok at drawing, just doesn't enjoy it as a hobby that much

LOVES learning about cybertron and its history and everything about it

at first ratchet thought all of raf's questions were annoying but grew to appreciate his curiosity

raf prefers asking ratchet any questions he has about cybertron because optimus goes on telling a long memory/story and trails off from the original question (raf's a sweet kid tho, he listens through the whole thing), while ratchet gives more straightforward answers

I'm considering drawing fanart now, especially since I saw the suggestion of drawing my personal OCs in your fairy au, and I realized.... I have an oc. That I created recently. Like so recently that I haven't even named her yet. And she's already kinda fairy-like??? She's the result of a one-night stand between Leo and a random bird yokai who decided to dump the egg on Leo (it's the accidental baby acquisition trope except its more like you-really-should-have-expected-this-leo baby acquisition XD)

Don't worry though, she's not bird-like enough to want to eat your fairy boys if she met them. She's basically just a feathered turtle who loves shiny things, and I haven't even finalized her design but now I wanna draw her as a fairy haha. I do know her feathers are blue-purple-pink-ish with red streaks, so her colour scheme matches Fairy Leo haha

You keep hinting at plot points but you've also said you don't plan on making this a comic, so are we ever going to find out what the heck is going on???

And I know the idea of making a whole entire comic can seem overwhelming, but have you considered viewing it as just doodling and practicing? For my own au comic I only have one part drawn so far and it is the first part, but I'm planning to just draw any part of the story at any point in time, just depending on what I feel like. Cuz no one says you have to do it the "normal" way, right? And I like to think of drawing the comic pages as practicing new skills, like learning how to do page layouts and composition better. Aka focus on the journey and not the end goal.

I do actually plan on making this into a comic of sorts! I dunno if I could ever make, like, a long-form webcomic or anything like that-- but I'm definitely planning on doing at *least* a few mini-comics to elaborate on the story! And maybe build my way up to something longer and more fulfilled :D As of now, I'm trying to experiment with different comic styles on my own time so I can try and find something that's quick and easy, but still looks decent. I like the idea of treating it as essentially a glorified doodle page. Honestly, as soon as I try to take any of my stories too seriously, I burn out fast-- so I'm trying to stay pretty chill about this one and just making content whenever I feel like it lol

Yup, I'm totally cool with everyone drawing their OCs as fairies if they want to! It's not like I own the idea or anything lmao. The only caveat is that I have jurisdiction over whether or not something is canon to my particular au. Leo and the rest of the boys are still canonically kids/teenagers to me, and I've been writing/drawing them as kids this entire time, so I won't be including anything/anyone related to one of them having a "one night stand" with somebody. Is there a reason particular for the killings? Is it related to Kan's personality or more like her job? Has she ever killed before she got employed at the group?

When is she gonna break?

Does Kan has a particular reason to work in the company? Or just financially?

Are there any side characters that might evolve further the relationship or dynamics between the two?

these are all good questions omg 😭😭 I don’t really want to spoil a lot of the lore. I was hoping to gradually ease it out in mini comics but I’ll answer it the best I can!

^^ I think you’re referencing that one panel where’s she’s looking down. It’s actually an artistic element I wanted to bring out the other shade of her eye, and her distraught expression and also a foreshadowing for something later on 😭 sorry for not making this clear

Mesa is an independent detective. She’s sluggish, socially inept and very disorganized. So when she’s sorting out her cabinet files she comes across a cold case dated years back, unsolved by the local police officials. Skimming through the contents, it’s about a secretary who was murdered while on her shift at the UCN. Complicated stuff. She’s set on her sights to continue it.

Is there a reason particular for the killings? Is it related to Kan's personality or more like her job? Has she ever killed before she got employed at the group? Does Kan has a particular reason to work in the company? Or just financially?

Kan kills for revenge. I would say she’s charming, too. But charming in a way it’s traditional. In Khmer culture, being soft spoken + a calm demeanor is widely admired in young women. So while Kan doesn’t speak much and strolls along the halls like a ghost, everyone, especially the older folks likes her. I’d doubt she enjoys having a casual chat with people, though. Her first kill? A certain secretary.

When is she gonna break?

She’s kind of out of it already? But it gets worse towards the end.

Are there any side characters that might evolve further the relationship or dynamics between the two?

To be honest, I never really paired up Mesa and Kan explicitly in the story. I just like the dynamic (doomed yuri) so I kind of shipped them in a way? Mesa’s love interest is a bubbly journalist, Ayalis, who’s rooked in on this whole affair. She somehow gave her the papers Mesa has never gotten her greedy hands on, so that’s all it took for her to botch a spot as the sidekick. But the main focus is Mesa’s and Kan’s relationship.

While, Kan. I’m not really pairing this up with her — but I like the contrast of her personality (calm, cunning) to the daughter’s CEO Evine. (explosive and brash). They’re both close because the CEO basically tells Kan to watch her like a gaurd dog, given they’re not only involve gangs but also mafia dealings. Quick doodles of their height

Kan is quite short but she is the strongest out of the three. And here’s a quick doodle of Aya (left) and Evine (right)

At some point Ayalis would have some complications when she stumbles upon Kan’s line of sight. Something she shouldn’t have done. And Evine? She’s, uh, doomed from the start.

LOOKS AT YOU WITH MY HUGE ROUND EYES. I’m not done with my mini comic yet. I was hoping to have it done by today but alas I’m only at the second page. So instead, to satiate my urge to post Something, I will do the unthinkable and let you fellas feast upon my least proudest work, the stupid comic I made for the original author back in April!! Behold!!

So!!! Allow me to break it down panel by panel because, while it was incredibly rushed, I put in an absurd amount of references solely for my own entertainment

panel one. So what the hell is going on here? Well first of all this panel looks particularly jank compared to the rest (not that the others are much better!) because this was initially Not supposed to be a part of it. It was just some doodle I made late at night and decided fuck it I’ll keep it to save time. But as we can see my boy pumpkin daddy is NOT pleased with the general attitude towards his steaks!

WHAT THE HELL!!! ITS MY GIRL BELLONA but spoiler alert she is Not called that in this. This follows the canon of roots and not pdbc (heartbreaking) so as you’ll notice there’s zero outright references to pdbc and more so the occasional reference to the Actual source material, which is of course pokemon, which is why he says region instead of island. The more you know. This is also the panel that particularly makes me want to dig my own grave because I fucking drew her hand wrong and I refuse to even look at it while I type this out because it makes me so upset even to this day. I fucking showed this to someone I look up to so much and I drew a hand wrong I’m still not over it this is going to haunt me for the rest of my life

Nothing of note to say here except for the fact that I have a very vivid memory of drawing this panel because I was at a program for high schoolers at some fancy-ass college a couple hours away and halfway through I realized I wasn’t learning a blessed thing and all I was gaining from the experience was sensory overload so I just sat there drawing until my mom picked me up. Fun times. Please note the firefly landing on her food please notice it I gave it a little face and I think it’s adorable

Ok this one doesn’t seem like it has a lot but OH BOY DOES IT. I made so many references to PDBC in the stars. I won’t bother pointing them all out and their exact location but there are the clan symbols, a pair of eyes, Kirby, and the constellation associated with virgo. Heeheehoohoo I had a lotta fun with this part. Though I did end up forgetting what a certain group of stars meant and I still haven’t remembered sooooooo

final panel! First of all I accidentally fucking made a white line and that too haunts me. Other than that though this part is extremely important! First of all the “crying out loud shame” part is a reference to Kirby right back at ya of all things. There’s a scene in some episode I don’t remember where dedede says that. The rest of it though, this is actually where the original inspiration comes in. I’ve made some real big steaks. That’s a reference to the song vampire of all things. “I’ve made some real big mistakes but you make the worst one look fine.” Just remove the “mis” part and ya got a whole new song about some petty asshole who’s really upset nobody likes his cooking! So uh. Yeah that was the inspiration for the entirety of this. I was gonna go with something else but again this was very rushed and I just went with the first idea I had no matter how bad it was. Honestly I think it’s iconic though

Anyway coughs up so much blood and dies. By some miracle the original author actually liked it (or at least said they did) and said it was really funny and in character so. Wears that as a badge of honor for the rest of my life.

and i do it for every fandom. if anyone remembers my old spn comics and AUs, some of those were off the wall cryptic and nonsensical. to the likes of which i havent come close to recreating

many of these get hundreds to thousands of notes/likes/whatever on various websites. so many people just see my nonsense and let me take their hand, no questions asked

i think i rambled this already but deleted it bc it felt too dumb but actually i dont think its dumb. i think its really interesting and relieving that people actually want my sketches and doodles and dumb things.

& yea i enjoy occasionally making a fully rendered piece but i mean. its not easy, and im never totally happy with the end result most of the time. but if im only posting sketches and doodles and sketchy doodly comics i feel bad like i feel like im just holding people over until the next piece where i actually put in effort.

but it turns out people are totally ok with stuff that i dont kick my own ass trying to polish. people arent settling for it, people voted- they want it.

and i dont know where this attitude against myself came from because i was never unhappy seeing sketches from artists i like

maybe its the part inside of me, which im pretty sure is inside every artist who has ever experienced self doubt, which makes me feel like i should be putting my best effort into everything. like, if i could only just muster up the courage to fully render some of these comics I do, then they would be even better...

but i wouldnt have as much fun. thats too much work, i get overwhelmed

I sure do be feeling a lot of bad things about my relationship with art these days lmfao, and I really don't know how to fix them and overcome them anymore.

It's like... there's such conflict about like... if you complain about the nature of social media people either are like YEAH!! or there's this weird thing I'm seeing now where people are getting mad at people bringing up the importance of reblogs as like attention seeking begging and shit like?? LIKES ARE NICE, I LOVE LIKES but like reblogs are how people actually SEE your stuff?

A like is like ah nice, scrolls past, a reblog is like MAN I WANNA LOOK AT THIS LATER or like it MEANT something to someone. But people act like that's so wrong artists are bummed out over engagement with shit lmao?? We're just selfish little hogs or something.

Or there's like this long standing thing about artists being bothered they don't know what to draw to get that engagement and people are like "DRAW FOR YOURSELF!!" like bitch, I been doing that because tumblr and twitter fucking drove that nail in lobotomy style - and it's making me sad because I feel like the more I like a piece, the SADDER I am when no one else engages with it or it's like 25 people??

Felix use to get alarming notes at times, now it's like feh, nothing? So, I tried drawing for fandoms I was passionate in - which got me a lot of people I care for, but also a lot of needless drama I hated and didn't ask for and that caused a LOT OF ISSUES when I even TRIED to stay out of it LMAO good LORD.

Even doing the Xig blog lately, I've been like okay I'm gonna stick with it because a WEIRD AMOUNT OF PEOPLE engaged with that poll I posted and I was like okay, that's a substantial amount of people who want that content, and even on the blog itself THAT poll was like OH. OKAY?? Because honestly, I feel like I'm on a weird blocklist or something or people don't like my art in the fandom so it's a weird place to be for me :))!! But I know people send me really sweet messages sometimes or sometimes I get amazingly sweet tag comments or people REALLY like an answer to something and it tickles their brain and that makes me happy but like??

I spend hours on that shit and it barely hits 100 unless it's a meme post usually and I dunno, I feel selfish all the time for being bummed about that. I'll spend days on some of them and be like SO PROUD and then just - the low engagement I'm like man, am I wasting my time? AM I STUPID? AM I TOO OLD TO BE HERE NOW, TRYING TO MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY? IS MY ART BAD? IS IT?? DO I JUST SUCK??? AM I NOT SELF AWARE??

It's weird how I see so many times people like my style or whatever, and like I know people still stick around for it, and I see so many artists post such GRAB BAGS of fandoms and stay strong in engagement and I just always feel like I'm doing something wrong or bad lmao?? Not supposed to talk about your feelings anymore, but also supposed to be engaging and personal on this here hellsite lmao??

I've been doodling shit at work and just feel tired all the time because I don't even want to finish anything anymore. I thumbnail mini comics that are like 5-10 pages of things that I think would be nice to do, I thumbnail out the backgrounds, thumbnail out bigger samples of poses and stuff and feel a little excited about how nice I could make it, and I just... know the energy put into it wouldn't be worth it because it'll be something I finish and am excited to post and no one will care.

Okay not no one, but like who is really gonna put fucking hours and hours of work into something that's gonna fall flat on it's face. I do that enough already! I over the last few years have posted so much stuff I was actually proud of and just felt....stupid for being happy and no one engaging with it. And then feeling more stupid and GUILTY because I'm upset about it?? LMAO LIKE WHAT KIND OF EMOTIONAL GARBAGE IS THAT?? And I'm barely online these days too beyond randomly scrolling shit to see what my friends that I barely feel relevant to talk to are doing in their lives nfjgkh I've lost all personalableness... that's not a word but we keep goin' lmao

Happy 1st anniversary of Encanto!

Under ‘read more’ – small selection of art through the year + some ramblings:

Back in the middle of 2021, I’ve got interested by couple of things about it: implication that Disney – or animation in general - does something inspired by Gabriel García Márquez, and also being Latino-inspired Disney musical movie, which I wanted to see since listening to “Snuff Out The Light” from what became “Emperor’s New Groove”. Wasn’t expecting a lot, neither, to be honest, got in result, except some surprising consequences. I admire a lot of work, classic and more contemporary, by Disney animation and its creatives, even if nothing in last decade or so impressed me on the level Golden Age, Renaissance, or even early 00s production did.

To be fair, in the end I only stay intrigued by its concept and production art more than by actual movie, and it’s realistically more than I would expect. That, and fact Disney happened to create character catering specifically to me in a lot of aspects, which is unfathomable (but it’s a talk for other time).

I would like to collect all my thoughts about the movie to make thorough writing on it, but it calls for motivation and time dedicated to it. In one or another form, I still consider to do it sometime, not necessarily in consecutive form…

What is significant to me, it has triggered my long-tarred decision to resume drawing, which I had on hold for literal years. For now, beside of continued efforts in building skills, I feel almost obligated to put on paper (or digital canvas) all ideas thinking about the movie sparked (and I’m not even over a quarter of it currently).

I’d like to do one another big thing for its first anniversary before the end of year, but being on low energy and not wanting to rush through it, I hope I finish it to Christmas. Anyway, there is some of my work of that year which, out of all artistic attempts, I find satisfactory, considering my current level.

Sort of digest of the (not complete, given I started in April) year of art, dedicated mostly to one subject.

Julieta Gets All Kisses Returned (April 2022)

One of very first, early pictures. In fact, I drew it in pencil on very first day, April 1, along with couple of other small doodles. Idea for it was also quite old, from February, and it was supposed to be birthday-related, before official birthdays were revealed, and it turned I have to wait for half of year😊 Or draw it regardless, because it still worked out of that context and was small and simple enough for first steps. With all its simplicity, it *could* have been better, but I’m even fond of its roughness. There are some drawings I realize liking only for having low expectations for it, but as time goes, they look crappy to me, but not this one. (May be fun to re-make it too next year, to look at progress/improvement, assuming I’ll reach any.)

Teenage Bruno (April 2022)

This one I did in pencil on the *second* day. Piece of wisdom to myself: comics, even short ones, are trickier than regular drawing. It’s consisted of small frames, but you have to figure out composition and make character designs in each panel consistent. It takes twice time to make everything right and without a hurry.

Whole thing barely fits into any context of canon, I just imagined young Bruno interacting with children similar to Mirabel, and this conversation sprang to mind. I had to come with context to support it (Bruno had his gift kept in relative secret til late adolescence), but in general, main connection with my personal headcanon is just that he always was more resilient and lighthearted than given credit for.

On this note, I’ve had intention of exploring my headcanon about characters and Bruno in particular via mini-comics (lot of it had comic scenarios in its roots), and there’s bunch of scripts for it lying not processed into work yet, and as I said, I’m going to finish them because I don’t want for this spurt of inspiration to go to waste, even if it takes time.

On the comic itself, I also like how it turned, given all imperfections. Having to figure look of younger Bruno was fun, and it had some amusing by-products as well I’ll show other time😊 People online seem liking it, too, maybe because it has some narrative. And, frankly, I ought to make narrative things more often.

WDTAB Reenacted (April-May 2022)

Another fun early idea, WDTAB musical number with only Mirabel and Bruno. Two challenges: full-body figures in dynamic poses and drawing with references (without tracing, purely from eye), putting some spin on it. Curious realization: no matter how I try to keep body proportions accurate, all people I draw look like hobbits… except Bruno who does look like hobbit by design already.

My favorite is middle-bottom fragment, dynamic pose construed from scratch.

Bruno & Toni (July-August 2022, fragment of mini-comic)

It’s just this, a fragment of another (rare) mini-comic, but somehow in the end of it, I unexpectedly liked this one panel enough to single it out. I still struggle conveying emotions and mood of characters, but this one turned fortunately in that regard. It’s “sparking joy”, to use meme-speak.

Dolores (August 2022)

I wasn’t exactly determined to draw something to every official character birthday, only when I had idea in mind and it happened to align with date, but since May I was going (almost) steady providing something to each, small or bigger, like that one. It was first full-page picture with background and multiple elements, I wasn’t sure I’d finish it on time, but I managed to, and for most of it, I like the result. It’s not always that vision of thing is clear from beginning and gets exact realization, it’s interesting to see what I get in the end. Layers of background and decorative elements are all over place, it’s accidentally looking like sort of collage, but popping up quite vividly. It got some attention on Twitter, and frankly, I’m pleasantly surprised with it, the work paid off.

Also, how I pointed while presenting it for first time, I was inspired by production art and lines from script depicting Dolores as “weird cousin”, and to lesser extent by fan song “Turn It Down”. When someone mentioned she looks Tim Burton-esque, I was glad I nailed that association.

For further note, Dolores and Pepa are two characters with very attractive color design, I like every opportunity of drawing them.

Despite smaller goals, I feel like it’s biggest improvement of the year: slowly getting expressions, shadow and lighting rendering, figuring out consistent personal style for characters, etc. I may get slowed down for now (and it affects my work), but I realize there’s long way ahead, and it’s encouraging to see I already have progressed a bit. Fanart is legit good starting point for working toward artistic aspirations, both fun and productive.

So, this post turned into one about personal achievements rather than one about the movie, but in the end, it’s all thanks to inspiration it gave me, so my felicitations to it!

Hey guys! Gonna give a lil update (both a mini life update and a update for the au stuff):

Tumblr is still messed up for me (currently posting this from pc) so I’m guessing it has to do with the bells they added to the dash considering that’s when it happened, so I’m assuming it’ll be back once they take them away, but if not I might have to go to staff or something we’ll see 

Anyway I got hat game on my pc for Christmas! but it sets my laptop on fire and runs very badly lmao so I’m probably gonna see if I can get a gaming computer for my birthday so I can play it properly 

Also sorry for not being very active lately, we went on vacation but I got sick afterwards and then a big snow storm hit, so just got a bit overwhelmed from all that happening one after another lol, I’m not sick anymore thankfully but the snow is still around 

In au related news as y’all know I’ve hit some art/writing block lately, so I’ve not started on the next prologue chapter just yet but thankfully I did get the plot of it figured out in a discord call, as I had been struggling to think of how it would play out bc it’s gonna be a A B plot situation, but I finally got a way for it to work out nicely ^^ so I got a little outline of the events jotted down, just haven’t started on the actual thing yet 

So after that chapter the prologue will be finished and so things can flow into the main fic, speaking of the main fic you’d assume I’d start working on chapter 2 after finishing the prologue and you WOULD be right, but I recently decided I want to go back and edit/rewrite chapter 1 just bc my writing improved so I wanna add extra scenes or better descriptions etc etc so it’s getting a revamp but not an outright rewrite just bc that thing is way too long to redo it entirely 💀

Also on the topic of writing i kept having the issue of thinking all the chapters outside of snatchers prologue chapter (heartburn) where all not the best writing, especially compared to aforementioned snatcher chapter that had way higher writing quality, I originally just chalked it up to being in the zone™️ when writing that one, but I realized I think it MIGHT be because it’s the only one not being adapted from a comic, all the others had comic or tumblr related things tied to them, but the snatcher fic was all it had going for itself, thus it had more descriptive words or spent longer on events etc because it didn’t have anything to go off of, where as the other fics ended up accidentally feeling more akin to scripts to me in how they did descriptions, ESPECIALLY forget me not because it’s literally just word for word event for event the same as it’s comic form, not sure if I’m making sense but what I’m getting at is that I’m glad that after this next chapter we are in completely new territory! No comics or ask blog stuff is tied to any of the chapters to come, so perhaps this will mean their writing will improve because they’ll only have the words to rely on, like I said idk if this little rant was necessary I just enjoy talking about my writing process is all 

But uh yeah tldr: next fic chapter will happen eventually, after that I’m going back to redo the first main fic chapter, and sorry I didn’t get to do any holiday art but maybe I will last minute do some doodles I dunno lol, OH, and I still gotta figure out a follower milestone event bc I’m super excited about it!^^ like I said of anyone has suggestions I’d love any ideas!

Can I have some facts on Hoshi’s little sister?? I love these little block kiddos

Sure you can!! I've picked out a name for her which I wanna reveal in like a mini comic/doodle dump of her but here are some small facts with her

-I mentioned this on her ref but she doesn't talk a lot, pretty quite kid. She's rarely shy but she just doesn't really feel the need to talk to people. If it wasn't for the fact she made noise while crying as a baby Chikara and Cementoss probably would have thought she was mute. The two where a little concerned in the beginning since they where concerned she'd have issues fitting in at school, she's sometimes called names in class which also makes her hesitant about school. She can be pretty feisty and has shoved other kids when they've called her names, Cementoss and Chikara are aware of the situation at school so they keep in contact with her teachers a lot to make sure she's doing okay

-Her favourite Auntie is Midnight, kind of looks up to her. She thinks Midnight is really pretty and is one of the few people she'll actually talk with outside her parents and brother. Since she's sort of block shaped like Cementoss she sometimes doesn't feel as pretty as other girls so she likes it when Midnight babysits her and they get to do fun girly things. Midnight in turn is quite dotting on Cementoss and Chikara's daughter...she's less fond when she comes inside the house to excitedly show her the slugs she found in the garden (Hoshi and his sister are both bug fans)

-She's a pretty good eater and eats a lot of foods, rarely fussy, but she'll refuse any kind of biscuit unless it's chocolate or chocolate chip. Hoshi gave her half of his raisin biscuit once when she was younger and she promptly chucked it on the floor in a teenie toddler rage when it didn't taste like chocolate

-She has a Pro Hero Deku toy. I think it'd be cute that Hoshi and his sister grew up being really big Deku fans, like how Cementoss was a fan of All Might since he was a kid. The toy used to be Hoshi's when he was a kid and then when he got a bit older it was given to his sister - though Hoshi is still a big Deku fan. Hoshi's sis is VERY attached to that toy and has thrown a fit more then once when her parents had to pry it away from her to wash it

-She gets along well with Higari and Ectoplasm but didn't like Riley or Haiya at first. Ectoplasm and Higari, being teachers and - in Higari's case - growing up with younger siblings himself, are very chill and patient with her, they don't force her to have conversations if she just doesn't feel like talking and Uncle Higari especially spoils her a lot, cuz that's what Uncles are supposed to do to their nieces. I've had a scenario in my head where one day Higari gives her an entire bag of chocolate chips cuz they didn't have any chocolate chip biscuits and she later went on to have a mad sugar rush and stay up super late, que an unimpressed phone call from Chikara and Cementoss. Haiya and Riley however are loud kids, louder then Hoshi, it took a while for her to warm up to them

-She's the type of kid to sleep in her own bed, then crawl into her parents bed in the middle of the night. If you want an example scenario of this just look up the Bluey episode Sleepytime on Youtube and that first interaction between Bluey and Chilli in the beginning is something she'd do

AU where Adrien is darker and has less morals

- Similar to how things are in canon but the show would be rated r15 cos of heavy violence >:D - Basically Adrien looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you. Marinette looks like a cinnamon roll and is a cinnamon roll. - During the umbrella scene in Origins, Adrien works out that Marinette is Ladybug. He keeps quiet about it though to respect her privacy and will wait till she's ready to share on her own terms. - Marinette is unaware that Adrien and Chat Noir are the same person whilst Adrien is oblivious to her humongous crush on him. He tries to subtly win her over both as Adrien and as Chat, resulting in Blushinette or Sassinette. - Whenever an Akuma manages to get a hit on Ladybug or any of Chat's friends, he doesn't hesitate to pummel them down vigorously. - Ladybug always has to scold him for being too harsh on the Akumas, constantly reminding him that there's an innocent victim underneath being used as a puppet. - Imagine a scenario: "Goodness Chaton! Just because they gave me a black eye doesn't mean you can go ahead and break their arm or toss them off the Eiffel Tower! Only God would know what would happen if I were to bleed from an itty bitty scratch," "Then that would be the day we find out what Cataclysm does to a person, M'Lady," "...N-Nice joke Chat." "I wasn't joking Ladybug." - Since he already knows, Chat isn't insistent on knowing her identity or asking if they could reveal themselves to each other. - This mad lad is very protective over Marinette in school in his own way. He's infamously known for having eyes that would "burn your soul" if you get on his wrong side - He is sarcastic and sharp with Chloe, especially when he finds out that she made Marinette's school life a nightmare before he and Alya joined. In fact his mumbled threats have Chloe shit scared to come near him or Mari. - Chloe does try to improve as a person but our lovely trio: Alya, Adrien and Nino repels Chloe from coming near Marinette. Our Asian girl is blissfully unaware of this set up, too busy thinking about tonight's patrol with Chat. - Though, Adrien can be really sweet and selfless. When Nino admits that he's crushing on Marinette too despite knowing Adrien is aiming for her, Adrien encourages him to go for her. It killed him inside but Adrien thought that if he can't make Marinette happy, at least she'd be in great hands with Nino (Animan episode). Thankfully, Alya and Nino gets locked in a cage, bonds, and BOOM we have Djwifi~ - Chat Noir's solo patrols is when the beast wakes up. The good people of Paris may see him and Ladybug as a comforting presence but the bad, evil people know how brutal Chat can be. - Chat has broken limbs belonging to thieves, shattered ribs belonging to abusive people, left killers in a near death state. - Adrien feels bad enough that Ladybug is unaware of his actions during the night and the last thing he wants to do is shed unnecessary blood, scaring the heroine. - Plagg fully supports Adrien's actions as he's chaotic neutral "Listen kid, this is why the power of Destruction, us, serve as a counterpart to the power of Creation. We exist to show that mercy is a luxury and the consequences that befalls on the people that take advantage of kindness. Ladybug may turn the other cheek and forgive; we fight fire with with fire. We will take away life if necessary. So don't feel guilty at all." "Thanks Plagg...I just want to keep Paris...and my Marinette safe no matter what. I'd do anything. Everything." - (See the parallels between Adrien and Gabriel here~? ;D) - Hawkmoth/Gabriel is very intimidated by Chat Noir and Adrien also managed to scare him a few times. - When Ladybug contacted Chat Noir to protect Marinette whilst she plays as bait and goes on the date with Evillustrator, he cataclysmed Chloe's balcony to dust in rage for her recklessness. - During Horrificator, Chloe didn't interrupt the kiss between Marinette and Adrien; she stood there gawking. Adrien was a smitten kitten, full on kissed Marinette that Nino and Alya had to shout their names so that they pulled apart. - "Girl, you're one of the most smartest people out there yet you can't grasp the fact that Mini Agreste is head over heels for you???" "Alya-aaa! You're just saying that to make me feel hopeful..." "He. Made. Out. With. You. For. Ages. On. That. Film. We. Did." "Cos it was in the script!" "There was tongue!" "He was making it realistic?" "MON DIEU MARINETTE DUPAIN CHENG! HE WAS LIKE A SATISFIED CAT THAT GOT THE CREAM AFTER THAT DAMMIT!" - Oblivious Marinette is best Marinette. - During the Dark Cupid/Dislocoeur event, after getting hit by an arrow, Chat successfully cataclysmed Ladybug's mask. She pulls him in for a kiss to not only break the spell but also to hide her face. - When Chat regains consciousness, Ladybug found a plastic bag conveniently blowing past, puts it over her head to hide her identity. - The rest of the event goes as canon except Marinette had a plastic bag on her head this whole time. - Tikki finds out that Adrien is both Chat Noir and that he has known Ladybug's identity from the start. She finds that it makes sense with how extra protective he is over her civilian identity and thanks Adrien for keeping Marinette safe at all times as well as being a worthy partner. - A secret group of criminals that are against the heroes, plot the downfall of Ladybug and Chat Noir together. - Chat Noir, having underground links and connections from his feats, catches wind of this. - He's too late and Ladybug gets shot by a special bullet straight after an akuma attack, right in the chest. - Chat Noir cataclysms every single criminal that was part of the organisation into rotting corpses in pure rage. Hawkmoth tries to akumatise him but Chat cataclysms the butterfly too into dust. - Marinette luckily survives thanks to the hospital receiving her so quickly. She was born with Dextrocardia with Situs Inversus (which means that her heart is on the right side rather than the left). If her heart was in the normal position, she would have died. - Adrien doesn't leave her side during the day and Chat Noir during the night. Marinette has no recollection of the incident she got shot. - When Lila comes along, Adrien knew she was trouble and a liar from the start. He had the urge to cataclysm the whole school as they bought into Lila's lies without any questioning. Plagg almost encouraged him. - Adrien took the opportunity to mess with Lila. "I am Volpina. A hero much, much better and stronger than Ladybug. This is my miraculous," "Hehe...Lila, Lila, oh Lila... showing me your precious miraculous is a huge mistake. If you don't want a first hand view of a fox getting skinned alive, you will listen to I, Hawkmoth, and hand over your miraculous to me." - Lila literally runs off, scared shitless, shouting that she was joking and that Volpina doesn't exist. - Marinette overhears everything and has a crisis. "OH NO TIKKI WHAT DO I DO!? THE LOVE OF MY LIFE IS THE ENEMY OF PARIS AND ICANTFIGHTHIMWHAAAAT!?" - It takes Tikki 15 minutes to calm Marinette down and promise that Adrien isn't Hawkmoth. Said kwami swears internally to teach both Plagg and Adrien a lesson for riling Mari up to this level. - Adrien overhears Marinette's freakout cos he's literally 6 feet away and both he and Plagg are wearing shit eating grins. "Ah, so the stammering and shyness makes sense now. Love of her life hmmm? I love the sound of that~" "Keep your whiskers on kitten and run before Tikki throttles me for letting you go too far with that joke!" "Aww... but I wanna ask Marinette for a little kiss," "YOU WILL CAUSE THE LITTLE BUG TO COMBUST AND DIE AND BOOM PARIS IS A GONER!"

It got me inspired and I liked it quite a lot! so here we go for that random one shot, not supposed to be born, but welp, bear with me! Have a great week, love you!

Jungkook was stunned.

When Taehyung had mentioned that a girl from his class would quickly come to explain a point of his lecture to him, he didn't expect her to be that kind of girl. Taehyung had mentioned her once or twice already. She had been helping him to take notes on a new subject that he didn't get at all and when Taehyung did not understand something, his mind just blanked for a few minutes before coming back and acknowledging that he indeed missed the most important points, leaving him even more lost than he previously was. She had apparently been sitting next to him when he had had his little breakdown, because, how was he suppose to pass a subject he didn't understand?

She had been helping him since it happened, she gave him additional notes when he had missed important points and helped him making small doodles about several topics, trying to draw little comics, making it easier for Taehyung to follow the lecture without being 100% lost.

From what he had heard until now, Jungkook had made himself an image of the character, probably a small girl hiding behind round glasses, always first row, ready 30 minutes before the lecture would begin. It was very clichée but honestly, it sounded just like that.

So imagine his shock when the said girl arrived in the coffee shop, short hair under a black cap, 3 little silver rings on her right ears, 4 on her left (actually, he noticed that one of them was a little star but that was only a detail), 2 helix piercing, high on her black shining platform shoes, looking the opposite of what he had been expecting her to look like. For a second, he was pretty sure that she was mistaken and had the wrong table, he wasn't sure that it was indeed the girl who Taehyung had been speaking about.

"I'm sorry for being late, couldn't do much better, tried my best, you know me. Hi to everyone I don't know, name's (Y/N), sorry I won't interrupt for long so don't bother, I'll be leaving quickly!" she smiled a bit, getting her stuff next to Taehyung's, already asking him which point he wanted to go through again.

Jimin, Hoseok and Yoongi continued what they were doing after greeting her as well, waiting for Namjoon and Seokjin to show up in order to leave. They had a presentation to do and they all had been speaking about it for quite a while now, Jungkook couldn't wait for them to be done with it, he felt always lost when they began to talk about their subject.

He, himself, came because Taehyung had promised that his study session with (Y/N) wouldn't be long and that they could play some video games afterwards. He had agreed on the spot, not really wanting to focus on school as midterms were coming, closer and closer, apparently not stressful enough for his family who kept on asking him everyday if he had been studying, which only added stress each time he heard the question. He couldn't focus, his stress rate was way too high for him to actually be productive, and it was stressing him even more, because damn, mid terms were truly coming and he didn't know if he would have the time to study everything without have to skip some subjects. That truly was a vicious circle. Motivation was nowhere to be seen and stress was constantly plaguing his mind : definitely the best mindset to study.

Note the sarcasm.

Jungkook even thought that seeing Taehyung study for his subject would also stress him. Taehyung was the one to never seem to be bothered by a subject he didn't fully understand. He would pass eventually and he didn't really care if his grade wasn't the best, as long as he passed the subject, it was enough. Don't get him wrong though, Taehyung studied really well and was a pretty good student, but he didn't really care about being the first of his promotion or anything like that. Yet for some reasons, this class was really bothering him and Jungkook felt like he really was the only one left to not study for the midterms, only fueling his stress rate that honestly had already gone above the maximum level.

However, as he actually began to listen to the young woman in front of him, her soothing voice did not send him into panic mode and he surprisingly listened to what she was talking about, without really paying close attention to the subject because he didn't even have that lecture. He saw little doodles she had apparently made for Taehyung about an important point that had been said to be "exam relevant". As he watched her taking a pen, Jungkook noticed a few rings around her slim fingers as well as a small sleeve tattoo. Her over-sized sweater did hide it but he could see it a little bit as she had slightly rolled up her sleeves. He watched her with great interest and curiosity. How did it come he never saw her before? She had a pretty distinctive character, making her pretty easy to notice in a crowd despite her quiet demeanor. She didn't seem to want attention, hence why she probably didn't get much, but she looked stunning and Jungkook couldn't help but blush as he watched her drink her coffee, his eyes lot leaving her lips-

Jeon Jungkook what the hell are you doing, get a hold of yourself, you don't know her?!

Damn he felt so embarrassed that he couldn't glance at her anymore. He heard Jimin suddenly asking her questions because he was supposed to take that lecture the next semester and wasn't really sure what it was about. She answered all of them, easily falling into a small conversations with all the boys who joined, much to Jungkook's surprised. He did not think that even Yoongi would go out of his comfort zone to talk with the young woman, yet, here he was, talking with her about music while Taehyung whined because they were not done. She giggled quietly, calling him out for not studying enough for the subject as he laughed before adding that he couldn't believe she would betray him like that, claiming that she knew that he studied after all.

"I know you're studying, I'm kidding, come on, we're almost done, the last part is the hardest though so you better concentrate, I'm not explaining it twice." she moved slightly, stretching before moving back to her original position as Jungkook's eyes fell on her again. Seokjin and Namjoon arrived shortly after they took up where they had left, quickly greeting her before asking the boys if they were ready to go. They all left, not without saying bye to (Y/N), promising a hang out as they added her in a new group chat while she laughed, telling them to not expect a reply any time soon after she added "I might or might not be kidding" before she broke into laughter with them.

Jungkook kept on looking at her, shyly smiling as he heard her laughter. Her eyes suddenly caught his and they both burst into laughter again. After they both calmed down, she smiled warmly at him even though he wasn't looking before going back to Taehyung.

Jungkook thanked all the divinities as she didn't say anything about the way he had so obviously stared at her but instead just focused back on Taehyung without embarrassing him more than he already was. She had obviously noticed that he had kept on glancing at her but she didn't call him out on it, letting it slide without any snarky remarks, which he was grateful for. He didn't know if she had sensed that he felt embarrassed to be caught looking at her, hence why he burst into laughter, but he just felt thankful that she did not mention it more than he hoped she would.

"And that's it! We're actually done, see? It wasn't nearly as impossible as you claimed." she laughed at Taehyung who just grumbled.

"It's easy for you, I don't get it when the professor explains" she hummed quietly as her eyes met Jungkook's again.

"Is he always that whiny?" she asked, ignoring Taehyung's outraged expression.

"Trust me, he's way worse at home, I'm his roommate." Jungkook tried to keep his cool but he felt excited to talk to her.

"Hey I'm not that whiny come on!"Taehyung protested while she just laughed.

"You are, stop complaining already, you are indebted to me for the rest of your life, peasant" she laughed loudly and Jungkook couldn't but snicker.

"Excuse me your highness, you're too good to me." he dramatically cried while Jungkook and her couldn't handle it anymore, the three of them laughing loudly, earning death glares from the barista.

"Ah anyway, so you're the famous roommate, the one that plays overwatch until 3 am?" she asked playfully after she had calmed down and told Tae that he could still show her gratefulness by buying her a coffee, which he just answered by a "in your dreams fake princess" that she had laughed off.

"Taehyung! You're not supposed to expose my sleep schedule to anyone, that's a private matter!" he whined as she laughed.

"Don't worry I'm not far better than you, been playing Symmetra recently just for fun but it's definitely easier for me to play D.Va." Jungkook's interested rose up even higher than it already was.

"God you play too?" he smiled widely.

"Of course I do, do I look like I watch anime until 5 am?" she puffed out her chest before laughing with Taehyung.

"You liar that's exactly what you do, you spent a whole lecture talking about Fullmetal Alchemist"

"What can I say, I'm guilty." she shrugged while Taehyung giggled.

"You definitely have to do a sleepover with us and the boys, we have similar interests it seems!" Jungkook laughed excited as he spoke.

"How can you tell, you don't know me" she smirked for a second before giggling to herself when she heard Taehyung interrupting her 'serious-not-so-serious' moment.

"(Y/N) you're basically Jungkook's female version, who are you trying to lie to?" Taehyung had his backpack in his hand, ready to leave as they all stood up and got their coffee cups with them.

"Trying to look decent for a few more second Taehyung, could you stop ruining it?" she punched him slightly in the shoulder, and he laughed as he complain about her fist lacking strength.

"Should I remind you that I'm boxing? Taehyung sweety I could send you to hospital if I wanted, don't joke around like that" they both laughed but Jungkook's eyes suddenly shined.

"PLEASE TEACH ME BOXING!" he shouted excited and Taehyung laughed as he saw (Y/N)'s surprised expression.

"He was searching for someone to go to the boxing club with him but we all ran away before he could drag us in his adventures." Taehyung explained while Jungkook was still watching her with hopefulness surrounding him.

"You want to go to boxing? I go to the club of the school but also to another club in the city after class on Monday, you can tag in if you want" she shrugged as if it were no big deal but damn Jungkook had finally found a boxing partner and he couldn't be stopped.

"YES DAMN FINALLY!" he yelled thrilled as they both watched him getting overjoyed.

"Is he really that excited?" she asked glancing at Taehyung.

"Can't you tell?" he giggled happily.

"We need to exchange number so that I can come! I don't know where it is! You have to show me and-"

"Yes okay, wow, calm down tiger, we'll go don't worry!" she laughed as she gave him her number. "I need to go, I still have a lecture in 30 minutes, I'll see you both later I guess! Bye!" she quickly left running as she noticed how far from university she was.

"Bye (Y/N)! Thanks again for the notes!" Taehyung yelled, as he saw her hand rising, waving it in the air before she hurried.

"Bye! Can't wait to see you again!" Jungkook smiled brightly and Taehyung laughed at him.

"I found a mini-me Taehyung and it's thrilling!"

"More like you found your soulmate and you'll get jealous next time I'll talk to her!" he laughed as he saw Jungkook's ready to protest, not missing the crimson blush on his cheeks. "Come on, I saw you staring at her the whole time we studied! Tell someone else you don't find her attractive but don't lie to my face!" Taehyung burst into laughter again as he saw Jungkook's eyes falling to the ground in embarrassment.

"It's okay, don't worry, you can protect your mini-you, we're just friend don't worry." he smiled soothingly, not trying to make fun of him anymore.

"I know you are, hyung. I just.. like her a lot." Jungkook smiled slightly, still blushing, not really understanding how similar someone could be with him, but he liked it a lot.

He even had found a boxing partner, if that was not his lucky day.

hey hey happy storyteller monday yeehaw I am vaguely stealing the same kinda artsy themes as the ask you sent me this time round, but I was thinkin about your recent sonder updates and was curious about uhhhhh what sort of approach you take when tackling something in comic form as opposed to a novel? what are the different things you need to keep in mind, what are the parts of the process that remain similar, n how does your personal approach differ between the two? c:

By which I mean happy Storyteller Sunday! Thank you for the ask :D and a.... very good one tbh.

I think the simple answer is... there’s not a lot of difference? 

I get an idea, I sit on it for a few months, then I get started Actually Making it. Wip4 (nearly has a name, stay tuned :D) is very much like that, and simmering to the point of writing it, just in time for NaNo. I daydream and plot and plan and theories for a long time before the story feels firm and solid. So that’s similar; I sit on these ideas for MONTHS.

I also.... doodle a lot for any story I want to tell. For Sonder-comic, it’s easier cause I already know what a lot of the characters look like. Atlas! Atlas looks exactly the same but with lil wizard shoes now. That’s the only difference! So super easy to draw. Even like.... Andy? With his slight redesign? Still the same guy, I can draw that, no worries. Wip4 wise, it’s happened as well; I think I added in two whole scenes cause I doodled something then went ‘well what’s going on here why is this happening’ and tied it into the story lmao

So yea; lotsa doodles. Lotsa me drawing something, going ‘why are they in this place/doing this thing’ and making up reasons, then tying it into the world. Recently drew Atlas and went ‘well why DOES Atlas hate spiders’ and fell down a whole rabbit hole that fleshed out worldbuilding and backstories and their personal beef with both spiders AND with Andy, so that helped. 

Slight similarity, I plot both comics and novels a lot before starting them? At the moment, I’ve got a notebook for NaNo/wip4, and I’m just planning out each and every chapter; what happens, how people feel, bla bla bla. Very open to change, but it makes me feel better to know what to expect haha. 

Comics are plotted more with me getting a bunch of post-it notes and drawing each page out in a thumbnail. That’s what I did for the one and only comic I’ve ever made over a long time, about crows (@iceskatingcrow if you’re curious lmao). This time, I’ll probably write things out as well, but I still like making a rough plan to follow.

Different wise, I think... I mean, I’ve never really made a comic like THIS sort of thing before, so it’s going to be a lot of experimenting. Seeing how other people do stuff, seeing what I like. I’ll probably make some test mini-comics with backstories and lore and stuff in them before getting started properly, which is similar-ish to me writing short stories to get used to characters voices, except with.... colour. 

I also keep thinking of scenes and things that would happen, and imagining how I’d describe them with words, before remembering ‘wait no hang on this is pictures, dumbass’ 

Things I need to keep in mind; structure. Different angles of drawings. Backgrounds???? lmao it’s gonna be a fun journey. Sonder was my first proper novel, and now it’s gonna be my first proper comic. 

Also: not to rush!!! Be calm!!! I’m going to be living my life at the same time as making this and publishing it into the world. If I work on something all day, every day, I’ll get sick of it again. Take my time, enjoy what I do and tell a fun story. 

Yea :D basically I’m very excited to... draw. I’ve not been so excited for Sonder-related content in a long time, so this re-vamp is thrilling me. I hope I’ll keep enthusiasm long enough to finish it.
