"hello?" will breathed.

"will?" a wave of relief washed through him when he heard samy's familar voice on the other end.

"samy? h-hi.." he was at a loss for words that he couldn't say anything other than hi despite the million questions running through his brain.

"h-hi. i-i'm sorry this is..i haven't called," samy started and will could hear the edge in her voice which made his heart break.

"let's go boys! on the ice!" coach warsofsky called into the locker room, his loud voice making the blonde cringe and curse to himself because this phone call really couldn't have happened at a worse time.

"shit, are you at practice right now? i-i'm sorry..i totally forgot..i can call back?" samy began when she heard his coach through the phone. shit.

will knew he needed to get on the ice or else warsofsky would make him do lines, but he couldn't just hang up now—not when he was finally hearing his girlfriend's voice after a day of not hearing anything. plus, he knew one of the reasons samy probably didn't call until now was because she didn't want to distract him from hockey.

"come on, pick it up! pick it up! we have a long practice ahead of us!" warsofsky boomed again as more of will's teammates filed out of the locker room.

will dashed out of the locker room through the other exit. he scrambled into the hallway where he nearly fell over from his skates still on and the blade cover hitting the tile. "no, no..i can talk. i promise. it's good to hear your voice..i-i was worried," will admitted softly, sinking onto the ground where he pulled his skates off.

"y-yeah. sorry. i'm sorry. i should've called. i don't know i didn't. i just–"

"are you okay? luke told me about your surgery," will cut the brunette off because even though he was upset that she didn't call him, he needed to make sure she was okay first and foremost.

"uh, yeah. i'm okay. just a tendon tear. nothing serious," samy swallowed, glad will couldn't see the anxiety clouding around her while she glanced around the hospital room and luke pretending not to listen.

"a tendon tear is kind of serious..you didn't get up off the field," will said more as a statement.

"i-i..yeah..but i'm fine now. i promise. it just kind of knocked the wind out of me, but i'm fine. i promise," the girl said like she was trying to prove it to herself too.

"i'm glad you're okay. i was really worried about you," his words made samy feel even guiltier, especially because of the soft tone he was using with her even though she expected him to be mad she didn't call sooner.

"i know. i'm sorry. i should've called," the youngest hughes admitted, head hanging low.

"why didn't you?" will asked, his voice still soft which made samy cringe.

"i just..i didn't wanna bother you knowing you're still getting settled into the team and the season..i didn't think it mattered because i'm fine now and it wasn't anything serious like i was dying or something," the brunette admitted again.

"of course it matters. you matter to me. you're my number one priority," his words brought a bright blush to her cheeks.

"you just have so much on your plate..i didn't wanna burden you. didn't wanna..put too much on you and make you run out or something.." samy mumbled the last part and will was pretty sure he felt his heart shatter into a million little pieces hearing her say that.

"you thought i was gonna..leave you again?" the crack in his voice hurt. a lot.

"i dunno..maybe? i didn't wanna.. be too much or something."

the silence engulfed them whole. will pulled a hand through his hair as he struggled to find the right words and samy bit back more tears threatening to escape.

"you know i'd never leave you again, right? i love you, samy. a lot more than i can even begin to explain," finally, will said something while trying to keep his voice from cracking even more.

"i know that."

"you're not a burden to me, i promise. you're the only thing i think about all the time so there's no way you'd be too much for me. if anything, i'm too much for you," his attempt at a small joke made both of them laugh.

"i love you, will. i'm really sorry i was scared to reach out. i guess it's just been hard..trusting again," the brunette mumbled a bit ashamedly and that broke will's heart again knowing samy was still trying to trust him.

before he could respond though, the door next to him burst open and he snapped his head up. macklin stared down at him looking wide-eyed. "there you are, smitty. you gotta get on the ice. coach is looking for you," the brunette rushed out and will knew he needed to go for real this time.

"yeah, okay. i'm on it. tell him i was in the bathroom," will said and macklin nodded as the two hurried back into the locker room.

"i'll call you again, okay? i love you," will said to samy still on the phone.

"yeah, okay. sorry for keeping you. i love you," and that was it. they hung up and the blonde quickly rushed to the rink before he got in even more trouble.

later, while will waited for macklin to finish up his shower, he was on his phone searching plane tickets and the fastest he could get out to michigan. samy's admission earlier broke his heart and he hated she still felt that way, so he wanted to do everything he could to prove to her that she did matter to him and she wasn't a burden.

he found the tickets that would get him out by tomorrow morning and into michigan that afternoon. he glanced up at his teammates and coach's office—he'd get killed if he just left without warning for a few days. he probably wouldn't even play.

but will needed to see samy. he needed to prove to her that he's drop everything for her no matter what.

so he bought the tickets in a few quick taps and they were in his email a second later.

i’m thinking 💭 you’re writing a romance novel with a few sex scenes sprinkled in there and when sunghoon finds out about them after you give him to read your first draft he gets jealous?? you’ve spend so much time thinking about these things what if you were horny and you touched yourself after writing them out? and you didn’t tell him a thing?? he decides to do every single intimate scene from your book to you tonight but TIMES better 🙃

sunghoon is really going to be your bias sweetie i think, you're constantly losing your mind over him (but don't ever stop, i love it). it's so funny to me how we're always associating him with books lmaoo but i'm here for it and i love to write it everytime. 

SUNGHOON has always been very supportive of you and every project you started. so when you announced that you had been writing some novels and wanted to get serious with that, he couldn't have been more proud of you. 

he was so attentive to your every need whenever you started another writing session. he brings you tea or coffee when you're thirsty and cooks for you when he knows you've spent the whole day working on your novels and didn't eat. but sunghoon was always there to take care of you and help you out of your writing blocks by giving you idea, or reading your texts to help you improve. 

so when you told him that you wanted to start writing a romance novel, he was all in helping you even if he teased you a little bit by reminding you not to describe him too much as the perfect boyfriend. but apart from that, he doesn't try to interfere in the creative process too much, not asking about the plot if you don't mention it to him. but sunghoon is always there to help you whenever you need it.

it's not until you give him the first draft of your novel to read that he notices the few sex scenes that you also wrote. and listen, sunghoon is not easily getting jealous, he trusts you with his life, so how did words on paper were getting angry ? because he was. he could only imagine you thinking about all the dirty scenarios you wrote, all alone while he could have been there and make them come true. he couldn't help but wonder if you touched yourself while writing all this. 

sunghoon didn't even reach the end of the novel before picking you up and carrying you to the bedroom. you don't even understand what's happening until your boyfriend starts to undress himself.

He was suddenly brought back to the years alone on the whale, when all he’d had to keep him going was memories of his friends, of Lance.

“Yeah.” Keith said, more certainty in his voice now. He reached down, hesitantly threading his fingers through Lance’s and giving his hand a squeeze. Lance tensed next to him. “I still do.”

“I mean, I’m right here.”

“Are you? You still seem pretty far away.”

again i know im not really big on those fics that make the team out to be deliberately cruel, but sometimes its cathartic tbh. sometimes you remember canon and ur just like yeah what if he got angry. what if someone got angry for him. what then. and mango gives us that

monsters and mana fic!!!!! everybody say YES to righteous anger on pike’s behalf. and also say yes to pike bc i love him. this fic is interesting bc its a little tense and awkward bc this ragtag team of misfits doesnt quite trust each other yet but they also cant quite stop themselves from caring about each other. so even though they dont all agree on eveyrthing and dont agree about all, they do agree that pike needs more care than he got. also unrelated but the fact that shiro’s m&m name is fucking takashi kills me every time like man just wants to be himself 💀

3. Beneath the Champagne Sea by SwissArmyKnife

The paladins make a diplomatic visit to a planet with sexual dimorphism roughly opposite that of Earth. Women are larger and more powerful, while men are leaner and smaller. Cue their horror at gaunt, sickly Pidge and mild disgust with the ’womanly’ Shiro. Lance hits the sweet spot. He's got the build and features to draw the eyes and the charm to keep them. Their hosts are quite taken with him, in particular the daughter of the queen, whose forwardness is a comic reversal of Lance’s usual dynamic with women. Lance likes the attention and finds her intriguing, but eventually things take a discomforting turn.

Lance tried to step around her, wanting to walk away from a conversation that seemed less and less likely to end well, but Leh’n seized his wrist before he could. Her grip was tight, and freeing himself would require an act of aggression, which he still wanted to avoid. ‘Think of the mission, of how important it is to get the castle up and running again,’ he coached himself.

Still, that did nothing to stop his blood pressure from skyrocketing as Leh’n leaned closer and said. “I am not accustomed to reluctance.”

i swear to god that ive recced this before, but i couldnt find it in my records so here it is!! this fic is endlessly fascinating. the exploration of gender roles is super interesting, considering who is impacted in this fic and how. the discussion about beauty standards, power imbalances, the alien wrench in things was so cool! and i think lance, who is very much someone who rides that gender lines in terms of presentation of hobbies and even chracter traits, makes sense as the main character here. interesting think piece. 

4. you had me at merlot by @ryomakun

“Oh my God,” Lance says as he covers his face. Keith’s tinny voice blares from his laptop speakers: “What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta.” See, this joke might have been funny if someone charismatic and charming had said it, but Keith’s flat voice and even flatter expression effectively kidnaps, tortures, and then decapitates any chance of it being remotely humorous.

Keith accidentally starts a YouTube channel. Lance, of course, refuses to be left out. It goes about as well as you'd expect. (Ft. copious amounts of wine and a truly shameless number of references to MyDrunkKitchen, DailyGrace, and general pop culture)

this fic is HILARIOUS. its one of the firsts i ever screenshotted for the scrapbook i have of fics that made me laugh out loud. i offer you this one part that really made me giggle: 

““It tastes good,” Keith says petulantly as he glares at the accusing finger Hunk has pointed at him. “No offense Hunk but that stuff you gave me for my twenty-first tasted like feet and antiseptic.”

“That was a merlot,” Hunk wails. “The good kind, too!”

Lance gets hit with a face full of spores and it leaves him wracked with pain. Touch is the only relief he can find.

yes i know i tag this author all the time but in my defense there was a point in my life where i was OBSESSED with faer fics. truly. anyways this one has unexpectedly protective keith, like to a very high degree, and im loving the heavy themes of trust and emotional as well as physical vulnerability

she absolutely loves that she's not the only one that gets louder the closer she gets to someone! knowing that you're there to ramble and talk just as much as she wants to is a feeling of comfort, so the conversations are limitless. she'll be there to listen to your favorite memories, and even if some are more painful than others, she'll be the one holding you and nodding encouragingly as you speak. she's also completely fine with you getting distracted or easily lost, because she really doesn't see that as much of a problem, knowing she was the same growing up. she's there to guide you through every obstacle of your life if you let her.

while she might not know the names of your favorite games or books or interests, she can and she totally will get onboard with them!! in regards to krav maga, if she doesn't know what it is at first, she'll ask you countless questions about it, and then go on a youtube binge to further study what it is.

when you face difficulties, whether it be dysphoria (i hc gwen as trans because yes obviously she would be so supportive) or familial issues or whatever it is, she'll keep her voice low and calm. the moment she sees you back away or even a flash of sadness on your face, she'll take the hint. gwen will make sure that you feel safe around her if it's the last thing she does. she'll hold you and press gentle kisses to your forehead, because she wants you to know that you're deserving of love just as you are.

so. the thing is i met this user few months back here and we became moots considering we had many shared interests and stuff and we r also sort of moots in law or smthng. and well, we became pretty nice friends and we started chit-chatting w each other. not only abt jjk or other animanga but also yk. abt our irl lives and stuff

but. over the past few weeks. things hv started to turn so fkn horrible

so well. over the last three or two months or so, tht user and i became sort of besties. and we started to chat regularly. and now that i notice eveyrthing more closely, there hv always been red flags...

everything became worse two weeks ago, i think

when they started to complain to me how i hv been "not paying them attention!!" all the while i hv been active on the dash, busy interacting w my other moots. how they hv been "feeling insecure" because of it. like. why i took some time more to reply to their messages when i was already busy reblogging stuff on the dash. why i did not react to them posts they tagged me in, the same day. WHY I DO NOT TREAT THEM THE WAY I'M TREATING OTHER MOOTS

i tried to deal w this situation as maturedly as i could

like. i told them very gently and respectfully how i hv not been trying to ignore them. how my life is an awfully busy one, and i do not even log into tumblr everyday. and even if i do, more often than not, it's js for my ten min breaks in between my study sessions. AND I DO NOT TREAT THEM ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN MY OTHER MOOTS, THAT IS FOR SURE

they did not react too positively to my polite messages, always trying to pull the victim card OVER AND OVER AGAIN. how much they love me. why i cannot see their love for me. why i don't consider her as my most important bestie the same way so they see me.

Through out the whole ride Yunjin clung to you and you both joked in the back seat of the car.

As soon as the car stopped Eunchae grabbed Yunjin, telling her how they had to watch this new show she had watch and just like that you felt alone again.

It’s not Eunchae’s fault of anything. You just felt you didn’t have that one person to always hang out with in the group. You alway’s stayed in your room practicing and talking to your mom about how you felt.

You tried you best to connect with the member but they still missed their member and you could tell. You had tons of great moments with the members. But.. they never lasted for more then a second. The fans couldn’t really tell this was happening.. but you could.

That’s why after the shoot for UNFORGIVEN ended you just tried the leave as fast as you could so you could, just get in the van and listen to your music till you got back to the dorms.

I’m kinda hooked on your theatrical au rn and the meal worms in the brain kinda want more info to chew on. If it don’t hurt none, can we know how gangle is on a day to day basis? Like how strict is she? seems like she argued with Jax for a while before putting him backstage. And he’s a repeat offender. So does she have some kind of empathy then? Will she excuse or give “appropriate punishment” to small mistakes/accidents? Sorry if it’s a bit much-

Gangle is an- interesting boss. She is not very strict but not an easy going AI too. She has small pet peeves that will make her angry and get you a ticket backstage. She can be a bit confuse when you use her words against her like what Jax did in the first comic. Depending on the situation Gangle will give you time to explain and it could excuse or decrease your punishment but sometimes she will just yelled at you and give it to you right away. Small mistakes and accidents will give you a pat on the back saying “it’s okay” but something small for the actors can be something big for Gangle so it’s best to be careful! Especially on her rules. Gangle is not good with “feelings” being like she can feel everything but not really understand why she is a bother to others, kind of like Caine in the original series but a bit more aware. Unlike Caine gangle is more frequent with her appearance like directing, though she spends sometime building sets, npc’s, adventures, and more. When not a work she is usually hangout with Tip and Rule in her penthouse/house which is all the way at the top of the circus tent. (The cafe is still there dw) Depending on the actor she can feel a bit of empathy but to her they’re all kind of like pets in which she has a favorite and a least favorite.
