Can I have a conspiracy theory? :D
If you visit tasks in To Do, this is the background. It's full of sheep with a demonic looking goat here and there.
Like this:
Tumblr media
We could safely assume that the sheep symbolise MC. MC gets called a lamb quite a lot and is presented generally as generally helpless among those powerful immortals, so it's quite obvious.
Not to mention MC has sheep in profile picture in chats and this tiny sheep image confirms it too, we have tasks to do, and here, sheep. Doing paperwork.
Tumblr media
But let's look at the background again.
It's full of sheep. And among those sheep there's one (1) scary goat, optionally a very scary black ram.
Tumblr media
But MC is the only (non magical) human in the whole Devildom.
Who is the demonic goat/ram then, if all the sheep represent MC? There are crowds of demons around. The goat/ram is sitting there, among the sheep, looking menacing and evil. That one is up to no good, definitely.
So my troll theory is:
The sheep don't represent the MC.
The sheep represent the demons while MC is actually the black ram/goat.
This makes sense, and you know why? Because MC being represented by the malicious looking black sheep/ram is actually a pretty good metaphor of what happened in the first season.
MC entered a group of oblivious demons who never expected a mere human to stir so much chaos and wreck so much. And all MC was doing was just creating chaos, butting into other people's business for no apparent reason and manage to tie the demons to themself with pacts.
The poor sheep were grazing in peace, butting heads here, definitely not expecting and not equipped for a situation when someone manipulates them, become a significant person in their lives, use their emotions to control them, turns one against other... they were completely helpless against that! And suddenly their whole pasture got turned upside down by one outsider who completely disregarded everything and leashed them all and ???
MC is then the proverbial black sheep, the one who goes against everything.
There is a tiny detail though. Black sheep implies a bit of rebellion and rather unconventional lifestyle and that's what makes a societal black sheep... well, the black sheep. MC doesn't seem like actually rebelling against anything. If not given a reason by the player, they create chaos just for the sake of chaos itself.
If the black animal among them however is a goat, it's even more important because goats are known for demonic symbolism and for that they can desert every area. It's lampshades MCs influence and disastrous effects of their actions. I mean, things got so fucked up they needed time travel and creating an alternate timeline to fix it. That's quite an achievement for a mere human, and lampshades as well that MC might be even less tied by morality than those demons are.
With how menacing and scary the ram/goat looks we can safely assume it's pretty much an situation of a wolf in sheep's clothing among all those defenceless demons aka sheep.
Being MC... we are the true demon of the game.
Thank you for your attention, I'll see myself out.
I hope you enjoyed my insane troll logic and had fun reading the pseudo analysis.

Obey Me analysis – Satan’s “childhood”
(betareading thanks to @reneotomegirl, @furblrwurblr and [Angel] from Discord. Thank you!)
I had quite a weird moment when I got to the part of the plot where Satan’s story was revealed. Not because it was shocking or bizarre in any ways, but because it was presented as something difficult to comprehend. And... for me it seems like he just went through an equivalent of human childhood.
I am aware that it wasn’t exactly the same – his memories overlap with Lucifer’s up until his creation and this is not something a developing human child goes through and a human can relate to. But aside of that, a human would probably be able to relate to his past much more than his brothers – since it is likely they were not raised, but created, be it by their “Father” in the Celestial Realm or re-created in Devildom.
Unless further chapters reveal more of their very early past – this was written mostly before chapters 15-16 dropped and was adjusted just a bit later to keep it accurate.
Satan’s existence began as a single emotion, at the beginning he was pure wrath. I’m by no means a babies specialist but I kind of have an impression babies are not very complex in the department of emotions, and neither can they contain anything they’re feeling. Toddlers aren’t known for their impulse control either.
Basically... he was a baby demon, unable to not react with anger, unable to contain his anger, very simple minded in all his actions and reactions. He gradually developed his current personality, under the care of the 6 other demons, mainly Lucifer – who is, in fact, his parent despite the fact that everyone counts Satan as one of the 7 brothers.
His situation was then not unlike a human child – after all, personality develops the most through childhood and he went mostly the same way people go as they grow up and get more and more complex, and develop more and more refined tastes. Just as he did, raised by Lucifer and the other 5 brothers. With time, he developed from wrath personified to the generally affable and cultured guy he is – or keeps such a persona, more or less successfully for most of the time. Though not completely, as his emotions - specifically anger - do slip sometimes. The other six aren’t actually much better in that so we can safely assume Satan is on the same level of development as they are, and is counted by the brothers as equal to them.
However, he seems to be consumed by feelings that are alien to the rest as they probably never had a chance to go the whole way from the newborn state through the whole childhood to adulthood. But he’s tangled in the same issues that bother many young humans – and that can be relatable for a human, if we focus on the situation itself more than his unusual birth.
One point to consider is that despite Beel and Belphie being considered the youngest of all brothers, they never went through the same process. Satan might technically be older, but not mentally – so actually, he is the baby of the family and has always been so.
This is a status you never lose – if you were the youngest of your generation, and much younger than the rest of it, this label – and the feeling of having it plastered all over your face – isn’t going to disappear so easily. And he is definitely in this situation. Especially since he never had those millennia shape his life through his experiences as his brothers did, he was learning and developing his personality and building it. From scratch.
Now he’s like a human young adult surrounded by his uncles and aunts, drinking with them and sharing the same experience of adulthood with them, and they’re seemingly treating him like the adult he is. The gap is however still there, even if they don’t treat him like a child - and even if they don’t see him as a child at all. He might be a grown-up guy like the others, but everyone remembers him at his babiest.
Another point would be that Lucifer is, in a way, Satan’s parent. So many dynamics that apply to human parent-child relationships can be found there too despite the fact that everyone keeps including Satan as their brother.
We still know: it was Lucifer who had the biggest influence on Satan’s upbringing. He was his main caretaker and the one to teach him throughout his early life – and the one Satan shares earlier memories and feelings with. This is more extreme than anything a human child goes through, but some dynamics still apply – albeit probably much stronger.
The first issue is Satan being perceived or treated as Lucifer’s copy.
Aside from the emotional depth of Satan’s identity issues linked to that, there is as well a problem with the environment - and this is something many human children have experience with, as many parents (and families or parents’ friends) treat the child in question as a mini version of their parent. There’s nothing uncommon in the environment constantly reminding the child that they are indeed a derived existence, not one of their own. It’s not uncommon for parents to treat their child as an extension of themselves and put their unfulfilled ambitions on them. This forces many young humans to seek their own identity, try to separate themselves and rebel against that – or accept that they lack one.
Satan had it much less indirectly as he is, in fact, a derived existence. For humans it stays mostly unspoken, mostly as a view people push on the child unconsciously and unintentionally; in Satan’s case it’s not something so vague but a simple fact. Satan does not just feel like he’s Lucifer’s extension. He knows it.
Even if Lucifer and the other brothers accept Satan as a completely separate individual and don’t remind him of his birth, this is something that he cannot avoid being constantly aware of, as he shares Lucifer’s memories. Lucifer’s past is his past. This part of him is inseparable from Lucifer. While he might not have the same identity distress as human children experience from their environment – he has one in his own mind. Which might make it much harder for him to cope with since he has to fight something that exists within himself - as in opposition to the external pressure of human childhood.
And he rebels against it. He tries to build his own identity, his own feeling of individuality by putting himself in opposition to everything Lucifer is, and everything Lucifer represents. He’s strikingly childish in his opposition to Lucifer – simply by doing everything that would anger or upset Lucifer, even if it’s just pointlessly spiteful. And let’s be clear, his fashion choice is so casual and the way he wears his sporty jacket is so absurdly sloppy, in contrast to Lucifer’s always overdressed, formal style.
But at the same time Satan is absolutely unable to tear down all the traits he developed due to his upbringing, including that aspect of Lucifer’s personality he despises the most. In Satan’s opposition to Lucifer and his cold and imposing demeanour he tries to be nice and affable, when it isn’t exactly in his nature.
Essentially, we watch Satan go through his teenage rebellion, which is even more striking if we remember that he reproached Lucifer’s drive to keep up appearances. This was a very teen-like statement, and for many teens, the insincerity of their parents’ behaviour is one of the biggest reasons they keep rebelling, opposing and looking for themselves. And at the same time the drive the teens have to emphasise their own individuality does sometimes lead to… keeping appearances too, just as Satan does.
Even worse, Lucifer’s attitude doesn’t help at all. He doesn’t seem to understand the struggle and… treats Satan like many human parents treat their rebelling child, with patronising disapproval.
Which obviously adds fuel to the fire as Satan keeps feeling like he’s looked down upon, and that he’s treated like a child – and this is even addressed by MC in his arc. So it shouldn’t really be surprising if the MC actually would butt in in any given moment and just state: “well, that is very human.” And yet they don’t.

With all that picking on Mitsunari for being a disaster adult, the thing it that Ieyasu doesn't resent him for that. His reason isn't pretty, and it doesn't mean he's not being mean. But the reason isn't Mitsunari deviating from the norm as a neurodivergent person. His reason is frustration that Mitsunari doesn't use his potential. And the frustration - and envy - is understandable considering he’s worked hard to achieve what they achieved while someone naturally talented just wastes their gift.
Yes, it might be petty, it might be that envy and frustration, definitely one of the ugliest feelings presented in the game, and it definitely hurts Mitsunari an awful lot, but the main point is that it’s not because Mitsunari is neurodivergent. And in the time of need Ieyasu can see past his own issues.

Lovestruck plots
I remembered recently why I drop Lovestruck games every once in a while.
As fun as it might be, the stories follow mostly the same patter, and this bores me after a few stories. There is little diversity in plots, the same things happen even around the same season in every route.
Jealousy plots that make no sense, for instance. All the rocks the relationships get onto, are just not believable, sometimes they slide into out of character beaviours, they bring literally nothing to the stories and do not even seem realistic. There are so many differences that could need both characters to adjust, especially saince even by slowburn routes the characters jump into relationships early and without knowing each other well. It definitely makes room for plots that’d explore it much more in-depth.
I mentioned it already, but the characters start early. In many routes the whole relationship is based purely on lust and it’s still portrayed as love and as a valid reason to just... drop everything for the love interest and burn all bridges. It is not. Which is not. There is nothing qrong to pursue a person you are very attracted to, but hots and sex are not a bond that can be the sole foundation to any long romantic involvement. It needs more work. As an ace I’m not a fan and definitely see there’s something very wrong with the logic, the logic that is overtaking the whole society and making people believe human relationships are to be physical and putting sex over an human bond that can be created. It’s already shitty we were made believe romantic love is something that needs o be prioritised over much more stable and reliable human bonds, now even this is being degraded to sex and nothing more.
I know readers do not want very realistic plots as the romance games are mostly fantasy, but there could be more of this in the plots. More balanced, too.
Maybe it’s just me being ace, but I really considered a relationship good when it’s being worked on and made work out despite all of these differences. Which brings me back to the Shades of A, not Lovestruck, to get such story that’d bring me some faith in humanity again.
Another thing is that even before they really work the things up, without any adjustment the characters are forced into lifelong commitment. They just get married and have children without really making the relationship really work in the long run. The hormone rush calms down after a few years - it is highly unlikely to stay infatuated for so long, and yet, the games make it seem like if the relationhips do not progress in long years.
Why does every relationship find an obvious crowning moment in marriage and family? Some of these characters have a good reason not to marry and not to have children and yet, they are pushed into something that does not suit their characterisation to the slightest. If the game developers want to force marriage even if it does not suit the love interest, there are other reasons to marry too. Like taxes. Like convenience. The character might come to conclusion that after all it’s not bad, but making them go through the conventional enthusiastic proposal subplot makes me cringe. Various reasons to legalise the relationship would add more diversity to plots and would not seem as forced as it is now.
These issues I have with Lovestruck games make me take my time off the games. The cliches are just boring, and the forced jealousy and marriage plots are just too off-putting in the long run. Well, the insane release schedule that didn’t let me catch up wasn’t helpful either, but it seems that they lately limited the releases to a more reasonable pace.

Author Interview
Tagged by: @yunohawkeye (on Misguide), @ayakashiramblings and @humi-and-co
Name: let’s say that Hyolf.
Fandoms: IkeSen, IkeVamp, IkeRev, Ayakashi Romance Reborn, MLQC (a bit), Obey Me, Shall We Date games in general, Lovestruck games in general
Where do I post: here and Ao3
Most popular One Shot: Call His Name (IkeVamp)
Most popular Multi-chapter story: Out of Time (IkeSen)
Favorite story you wrote: Shogetsu’s Room.
A story you were nervous to post: Feral is a Wolf’s Fate. Otome fandom isn’t exactly thrilled for slash but here I was, posting slash, and with a shitload of content warnings.
How do you choose your titles: ...with greatest pain. I almost never have ideas for the titles, so they're generally not very creative. Unless everything starts with a title. (I still cannot get over the fact I had a story with an epic title of Weeping Gods and forgot the plot completely and entirely...)
Complete: I… did I ever finish a fic? Oh wait, yes. Out of Time - because it was supposed to be a flash fic. Ended up having 3 chapters and being closer to a novellete.
Incomplete: Thundering Hooves, Forgotten Dreams , Feral is a Wolf’s Fate from those I started posting. On my hard drive I have many more.
Do you outline?: Almost never, but I write mostly one-shots. However, there is often a long thought process behind a fic. Especially with smut, I generally need a fixed idea what exactly I want to show and how. There’s a lot of planning, and smut fics are those you wouldn’t expect intense analysis of, but here I am, weighing all aspects and trying to find a perfect blend. Same goes for some angsty fics.
Coming soon/Not started yet:  lol there's too many to list them! I have a long multivolume series planned for IkeSen (Grand Duchy series, around 10 long fics), Accretion for IkeRev, Wolves for MidCin, space fantasy for ARR, fantasy AU and custom MCs for IkeVamp, and a long fic for Obey Me.
Do you accept prompts: Yes, though haven’t said that officially yet XD
An upcoming story you’re excited to write:
Tagging... uhh, didn’t everyone pretty much already got a tag? @towa-no-yume? @alloveroliver? @volixia669? @dear-mrs-otome? @nyktoon-in-otomeland? and anyone who wants!
