Starting a masterlist of ships who I always saw as sibling dynamics until I shockingly realized that the fandom shipped them romantically, and then they proceeded to become pretty much or actually canon
Sincerely, a hopeless panromantic who loves shipping but is still sick of amatonormativity in media.
-Migi
Ed and Winry - Fullmetal Alchemist
Yuu and Mika - Owari no Seraph
Catra and Adora - She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Eren and Mikasa - Attack on Titan

. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 ࿐ྂ
Pairing: Mikaela Hyakuya X afab!Reader
Sypnosis: On one fateful night, MC encountered a certain vampire she didn't expect to meet during her guard duty.
Word Count: 1,693
"When will Yu-kun and the others arrive?" You yawned while sitting on a branch of the tree outside the walls. You were given a guard duty at night for any signs of vampires. Of course, you hated the job and you are not that skilled at close combat. That's why you choose a cursed gear suitable for you, a bow. Even though you despise the job given to you, you can't argue back with Lieutenant Colonel Ichinose since orders are orders. "Damn that Guren bastard" You hissed while surveying the area. It is quite silent, but that's a good thing for you because you can enter your world of thoughts without any distractions. But of course, you had to stay alert for any Horsemen of John or vampires. "I freakin' hate this job" Your eyebrows twitched in annoyance as you tried to calm your mind.
Mika. That's the first thing that crossed your mind. Mikaela, Yuichiro and you are orphans of Hyakuya Orphanage. You still remember how close you were to Mika when you were sent to the orphanage. Both of your parents despise you, they even tried to kill you when you were still young. They said that you are a demon, a 'Seraph of the End', and that's the reason you have to die. Being young back then, you didn't understand what they meant. After your parents committed suicide, you were sent to the orphanage. You still remember how you cried on him when you met him.
~Flashback
"Okay, children, [Name]-chan will be one of our family starting today. So please make friends with her" The director told the children who were standing in the room, she held both of your shoulders while you looked away with a slight blush. "Yes!" A boy with blonde hair and blue eyes responded with a smile, all the other children copied him. The director left you and went to the kitchen, you stood there for a while, surveying every face of the children and the decor of the room. "Hi [Name]-chan! I'm Mikaela, I'm an orphan just like you but I have a big family now" The blonde boy went to you and held out his hand to you. "H-hi..." You shook his hand while forcing a smile. "Say, why were you sent here?" He asked. Your eyes widened at his sudden question, trying to hold back tears when you remembered that your parents were trying to kill you. You looked away from him and covered your watery eyes with the help of your bangs. "[Name]-chan, are you okay?" He asked worriedly, he thought that the question he asked you might trigger bad memories.
"I'm sorr--" You instantly hugged him while crying, surprising him on the spot. "I'm okay," You told him as you shook your head. He placed his hand on your head and then gently rubbed it. "My parents tried to kill me because I'm a demon, but one day, they committed suicide then I was sent here" You explained while crying on his back. "It must be tough, huh? But don't worry, we're your new family" Mika comforted you while cheering you up. "Yeah, thanks" You pulled away from him and then wiped away your tears. "By the way, you're not a demon. For me, you're an angel" Mika flashed you a heart-warming smile which made your heart skip a beat. "T-thanks..." You flushed red while looking down.
Then after that, the two of you grew close to each other, and then Yu came along too. Yu is just like you, his parents tried to kill him because he's a demon. That's why he acts like a jerk, not wanting to accept his new family. But Mika is Mika, he befriended the stubborn Yu and convinces him that the Hyakuya Orphanage is one big family.
~End of Flashback
But you know that you lived in a cruel world, all the happiness that you had vanished. Deadly viruses spread and killed humans, leaving only children that are 13 and younger. The vampires had captured you and your family, treating all the children as livestock. But the most horrifying thing that happened was when one vampire killed your family. Mika planned to escape with your whole family, but somehow, it was just a trap. When inside the vampire's estate, he killed all the younger children that were with you. Even Mika. He sacrificed himself for you and the stubborn black haired to escape. You felt really guilty that you left your family there while you were now here, alive. The memory haunts you every night, making it a nightmare. And you only had one reason to live; revenge. Yu also had the same intent, killing all the vampires is his goal. Because he is the only one left, you promised yourself to protect your remaining family.
"Seraph of the end, what the hell is that exactly?" You clenched your fist because of the idea. You heard from Major General Hiragi that the seraph of the end is some sort of plan to end the world. And most of all, you are actually worried when Yu was put into a coma for a week. You don't actually know the details, but Shinoa mentioned something about transformation and demons. Yu-kun, please don't do things that might end your life. When you heard some noises from the deserted city, you snapped out of your thoughts and then held your bow tightly, getting ready to attack. You raised your bow at shoulder level then pulled the string back, and a green arrow appeared. You steadied your stance while waiting for the right time to attack. I just hope I won't mess up or else I'm dead. Sweat appears on your forehead as you try to calm your speeding heart. Once you saw a glimpse of a white cloak, you released the string. The arrow went straight to the vampire at a blazing speed.
"Did I do it?" You muttered to yourself after your attack, lowering the bow, and sighed in relief. But when the arrow neared the vampire, he blocked it with his sword. "Shit! I messed up!" You stood up from the branch as you held your bow tightly. The vampire noticed your presence and then looked your way. Shit, shit, shit, shit! I have to escape or-- "Huh?" Your eyes widened as the wind passed you by, you felt a presence behind you and tried to attack. You swung your right leg behind to get the vampire off the branch somehow, but your swing was too late and he caught your leg. "Let go of me!" You screeched as the vampire held your ankle tightly. "Gah!" You screamed as he crushed your bone.
Your bow vanished from your hand as your face showed agony. Clenching your fist, you aimed it at the vampire but he caught your attack once again. You shot him a hard glare when your head turned to face him, but then your eyes widened at the male before you. "M-Mika...?" You muttered softly as you saw the blonde male with blue eyes, staring back at you with also widened eyes. "[N-name]....chan?" He muttered as well before releasing his grip on your hand and ankle. "Mika-kun! It's you!" You hugged him tightly while tears formed in your eyes. The said male placed his arms around your waist. "I can't believe it! You're alive!" You said with ecstatic, forgetting about the pain in your ankle. "Yes. I'm alive" He said softly, a smile gracing upon his lips.
"B-but how? And why did you become a vampire?" You pulled away from him and wiped away your tears. "Didn't Yu-chan tell you?" His eyes widened in shock, and you shook your head. "Yu-kun has been in a coma for a week after the battle. But he's okay now" You explained to him with a smile. "I see..." The blonde sighed in relief. "So... What happened then?" You asked him again, [e/c] orbs contain anguish, sorrow, and depression when you looked into his cerulean ones. "I..... I was turned into a vampire against my will..." His blue orbs trailed down, avoiding your gaze. "Well, vampire or not, you're still Mika-kun. Having you alive means so much to us, to me" You went to him and gave him another warm and welcoming hug. He stiffened for a moment at your touch, while his cheeks heated and heart rapidly pounding. "After all these years, Yu-kun and I found our lost family. I am so happy" You buried your face into his chest, and you can hear the fast beating of his heart.
"After all these years, I've always thought of you," You said, hugging him tightly. Mika listened closely to what you were saying. "After all these years, I never thought that I would see you again" You continued. He placed his hand on your head and rubbed it gently. "After all these years, here you are, standing in front of me. Embracing me in your arms" You whispered the last part a bit, but still audible to Mika. "I never thought that I would fall in love with my family, even when I was too late to confess" You looked at him in the eyes, you can say that he was surprised by your sudden confession. Tears bubbled in the corner of your eyes as your cheeks flushed with embarrassment. After a while of watching his expression, you pulled away and turned your back to him. "Sorry, I know you might say that I'm stupid" You wiped away the tears as you tried to calm yourself down.
"I--" When you turned around to face him again, he suddenly hugged you much to your surprise. "After all these years, I am still stupid enough not to know your true feelings towards me," He said, hugging you tighter. "[Name]-chan..." He whispered in your ear. "Yes?" You asked while rubbing his back gently. "I love you" He confessed, and you smiled to yourself. "I love you too..."

My Owari no seraph oc
Name: Yuuki Suzuki/Hyakuya (She is also in the Shinoa Squad)
Gender: Female
Race: Full human
Age: 16
Like: Cold water, takoyaki, spending time by reading a book and studying. Taking care of the others, training to grow stronger, hanging out with Shinoa or Mitsuba.
Dislike: Mean and rude people. Wasting time. Bully.
Crush: Yuichiro Hyakuya and Mikaela Hyakuya.
Birthday: 11th August
Appearance: Yuuki is a young, beautiful girl underneath that smiley mask. She have long white hair with side braids, tied by black ribbon and crystal blue eyes.
Family member: Yuuna Kiana (Mother, deceased), Leo Suzuki (Father, alive), Yuki Suzuki (Older brother, alive)
The word yuuki [勇気] means courage, bravery and daring. Beware that it can also mean ghost or spirit [幽鬼] or simply something organic [有機]. It's an interesting word that can give a good meaning to a Japanese name. Unfortunately, it is also not usually written with the ideograms of courage [勇気].
愛喜] is a common way of writing yuuki which means love and rejoice. [優希] which means tenderness, kindness and hope and pray. In addition to [優輝] which means tenderness and brightness.
Backstory: Yuuki grow up in an abusive household. Her mother died after giving broth to her and her father hated her for that. Her bother, Yuki, always be the one who protect her as those two were the only child in the Suzuki household. In my AU, the Suzuki is the second royal family after Ferid's. However, in one certain day, Yuuki went towards Yuki room, holding a novel. She know that Yuki like to read novel so she brought some from the school library. With a smile on her face, she knock on Yuki room before opening it slowly.
"Yuki-nii, I brought you a bo-" Her smile faded once she saw that Yuki was nowhere to be seen. His room were messy, book and paper scatter around the floor and his bed sheets were torn apart. She panicked, dropping the book. Her father, Leo, who saw this begin to smirk. She slowly looked at her father, asking him only for her to get such an unexpected answer. "Oh? Your big brother? How sad. I sold him. He sure having the interest of older woman. I got many money because of that."
She didn't expect her father, her own flesh and blood, to sold her own brother just like that for money. Leo smirk and slapped her hand on her cheeks before turning around and walked away. Yuuki started to cry silently, muttering "Big brother" over and over again as she hold the book close. After a month, Yuuki personality changed. She's no longer cheerful like before. She's now very cold, quiet and distant towards other. Even though her timid and shy self is still there.
At 12th of December, when she was 8, her father told her to get dressed. She did as she was told, changing her clothes. She wore simple plain blue shirt with black skirt and a pair of long white sock and black mary jane shoes. Her father drove her into his car, driving to an empty, cold, dark streets. He grab her by the arms and drag her off the car. He then let go of her. With a disgusted and cold look on his face, he spoke in stern voice. "I don't need you anymore."
With those last words, he turn around and walked away. Leaving Yuuki all alone in the dark and cold streets. And since then, she had a hard time trying to survive up until the manager of the Hyakuya Orphanage begin to notice her. They asked Yuuki if she wanted to stay with them so that she can have a place to live in. Yuuki hesitated at first, not fully trust them but nodded later. The manager took her to the orphanage, and this is when she begin to meet Mika before meeting Yuu a weeks later.
So, my oc also escaped with Yuu after Mika plan failed. Her cursed gear is the same like Yuichiro. A swords/katana. Her demon name is Adeline. Adeline have long blonde hair, red eyes, fangs, pointy ear and seraphic wings. She wore white dress and a pair of white leather boots.
Fact:
-Yuuki is still searching for her brother.
- Yuuki wear mask to hide her face. She is not good at expression her feelings so it might be very awkward since she had a very stoic and blank expression on her face most of the time without the mask on.
-She's inlove with Yuu and Mika, unaware that they also feel the same.
-Yuuki emotion died a long time ago from the abuse of her father.
-And now that she has her emotion returning slowly one by one, she's still lacking of it. And she still can't describe what she was feelings most of the time after a years of not having any emotions and feelings.
-Yuuki love cute things. Her room were filled with teddy bear and such things as plushie, doodles, and much more.
-Her favourite color is black. She didn't like bright color.
-The only color she allow in her room is: Black, white, cherry pink, blue, aqua green and purple.
-Yuuki find Shinoa personality amusing and interesting. Especially that smug grin.
-Yuuki think that Mitsuba deserve the right to kick Yuu since he is very stubborn and act out of order. Or before Shinoa command something.
-Yuuki feel a twinge of jealousy when she see how close Shinoa is with Yuu.

Beware of slight spoilers if you plan to watch/read it but I didn't write anything major that's not in the 1ep or opening so…
It's HxH/OnS au, and the roles I'd assume would be similar to Hyakuya orphanage kids = childhood neighborhood kids -> Gon, Killua, Alluka, Nanika, Kalluto, Zushi Fried - Hisoka Guren - Pariston (pls, pls, anyone who knows Guren, he has such a Pariston coded actions, tell me it's not just my imagination) Team Shinoa - Bisky's team!! -> Bisky, Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, and Palm Gon's contracted demon would be Pitou
Imagine Gon having anger issues at Pitou (ants?) but instead it's at vampires (Hisoka especially) for killing his closest ones. But oh my! Looks like Killua somehow survived? Oh no! He's a vampire now too (in the army of the opposing side no less!) but it doesn't matter because he's alive and that's enough for Gon…! He'll get back his family no matter what! (so hxh ft Owari no Seraph, one of my favorite series)
Yet another fun challenge from @greedislandchallenge

Yuu sniffled as he sneakily walked back toward the place he'd been calling "home" for the past few weeks. Hopefully, he wasn't catching a cold, but it was more likely that he was. What could one expect though when they had to make do with what they could get? In his case, what he could get was a few blankets on a cold concrete floor. Besides, even if he got sick, it was still better than the alternative. The alternative being his abusive parent's house.
Even now he wondered how he hadn't figured out for himself that how his folks treated him wasn't normal? It took one of his new friends from Hyakuya Orphanage to point it out to him. Speaking of his friends, he wondered how they were doing now. Hopefully staying warm and healthy and having the least amount of run ins with his father as possible.
They were smart though, so Yuu was sure they wouldn't let themselves be near Yuu's dad for long if at all. He remembered little Ako and Mika shrinking back when they first met the man after all. Ako just recovering sickness and Mika just catching it. Yuu had felt so bad for it, gaslit into thinking he'd been the reason.
Even now, the abuse he'd endured still left a stain in his young heart and mind. If Mika or any of the other kids knew he ran away, would they be mad at him? Would they hate him like dad said? It was an abusive house he came from, but he still had both parents. Would they be mad that he ran away without telling them anything? They'd been friends after all. To them it may look like he just disappeared out of nowhere.
If he ever met them again, he'd have to be sure to apologize. For now, he needed to get back to the old abandoned school before anyone saw him and called the police. He'd do anything, deal with anything, as long as he didn't have to go back to his parents.
Little did he know with his progressively fogging mind, he'd already caught someone's attention. A familiar someone. He just continued to the school and crawled in through a hole in the chain link fence then through a door that used to be boarded up.
His entrance caused dust to become unsettled and fly into his face. Which of course triggered a cough and sneeze. Thankfully though, there was still enough daylight to see with, otherwise his trek to the basement would be dangerous. It still could be with his steps a little more unsure and slow with sickness setting in. He had medicine and electricity down there if he could just get there to flip on the lights. A hot shower would probably do him some good too and soup. Instant ramen counted as soup right?
"I probably need to think of cleaning this place a bit more.." he thought aloud, not expecting an answer.

Owari no Seraph chapter 140 english fan translation
TWO MONTHS IN A ROW ON TIME LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the official is already out at here thanks for reading :3
What is reflected in the progenitors' eyes....
Owari no Seraph chapter 140: The World We're Gunning For
Urd: Rigr, what are you going to do about this?
Saitou: About what?
Urd: Why are you allowing this????
Saitou: What else am I supposed to do? We don't fully understand the situation and no one's going anywhere.
Urd: Hm, that may be true but....do you ever remember eating THAT much? When you were human?
Saitou: Man I don't know. That was forever ago*
Urd: And, Rigr
Saitou: Hm?
Urd: What you mentioned seeing from inside the First, do you really believe it?
Saitou: About the age of angels? I do.
Urd: You really mean to say that the First didn't, in fact, throw us away, but that he'd been working to save us? Rigr..he's the one you've been trying to get revenge on all this time....
Saitou: Well, I wouldn't say vengeance is what I wanted. I would've been satisfied just catching up with him.
Urd: And would you say you have?
Saitou: ...well that's the thing isn't it. Father never did deign to speak to me about any of it after all.
Urd: Just like how you are with us. You really take after him.
Saitou: Guilty as charged
Saitou: So, Yuu-kun
Yuu: Hnrf?
Saitou: Aren't you worried you'll hurt yourself eating so much so fast?
Yuu: Nah, in order to handle sorting through all the information I got absorbing the First and also Mika's-I mean uh, my demon's power when he lets loose, I need a metric ton of calories
Mika Huh
Mika: Hey, wh-YUUCHAN HOW MUCH ARE YOU GONNA TELL THEM???
Saitou: ...that's funny. Earlier you said that the First had been absorbed by other humans who were hostile to you, didn't you?
Yuu: Yeah that happened too, about 70% of him went to them. But he willingly gave me 30% of that power.
The spell to revive Mikaela
The spell to hide the world from paradise
The spell to destroy paradise
Saitou: What is this
Yuu: It's the magic he gave me to save the world with I guess
Saitou: To save the world...?
Yuu: Listen, you guys have seen the First's memories too right? He made sure we knew that you know.
Saitou: Interesting...and what about it?
Yuu: Well that's why I was thinking that our goals would align now, y'know. That's why I'm telling you all this now.
Saitou: ...what is your goal?
Yuu: I already told you that. All of the entire whole world, including the First--!!
Saitou: Complete resurrection of the entire world, you mean?
Yuu: Huh?
Yuu: Ah, yeah let's call it that! That sounds cool actually!
Urd: And are the angels included in that?
Yuu: Of course
Urd: Even though the First received divine punishment for attempting to do just that...?
Yuu: Well I think that's probably what this spell, the one to hide the world from paradise, is for. And over here is the spell to destroy paradise.
Saitou: And the other one?
Yuu: Pretty sure this is the spell to revive Mikaela
Saitou Narration: In the First's memories I saw that within Mikaela was gathered the power of Light. If we came into possession of that resurrecting the angels would be possible....
Saitou: The First has been trying for so long to resurrect Mikaela and has never once succeeded, though. He took up the challenge time and again with no sign of any outcome but failure.
Yuu: We're different. Or actually, we've realized his mistake.
Saitou: And that is?
Yuu: Well now that much we can't reveal unless you promise we're on the same side from now on.
Mika, secretly: Even though a spoken promise means nothing from them.
Yuu, also secretly: Don't worry about it
Yuu: Saitou, you were always chasing in the First's footsteps. You formed the Hyakuya Brotherhood to oppose the JIDA he created and you even created the place we called the Hyakuya Orphanage. So you've gotta be pretty smart, huh? You can weild the humans' sorcery and the vampires' wealth of knowledge, I'd bet your way smarter than Guren and Mahiru and them.
Yuu: And if you are, prove it. Figure these spells out, help us.
Yuu: ...ah, actually let me rephrase that.
Yuu: Trust yourself with the First's dream. Resurrect the world.
Urd: I'm against this. We already have a much safer course of action right in front of us. Returning to paradise, grasping at the forbidden, resurrecting angels, these are all things the First PROVED to us can't be done.
Urd: So in that case
Saitou: Don't
Urd: Rigr, move.
Saitou: I can't do that
Urd: How many times are we going to make this same mistake?
First: *screaming*
Saitou: I understand, Father. This time I'll...
Saitou: Urd, if you'd call our father's actions a mistake, we have not once yet committed the same crime. Just living the endless days hopelessly, that's what makes us undead.**
Urd: ....I don't want to watch you turn into the First. Past this point, there'll be things you can't take back.
Saitou: Isn't that what life's all about? Have you lived so long you've forgotten that?
Urd: You're not gonna get me to agree with you
Urd: YOU ABANDONED US FOR THE SAKE OF THIS WORLD'S STABILITY. OUR JOB WAS TO PROTECT THAT STABILITY AND WE DID IT THE WHOLE TIME, WITHOUT YOU.
Saitou: Oh, well your mission has ended. Job well done, I'm here to relieve you now.
Saitou: If you've decided not to behead me, you should join us in our complete resurrection of the entire world.
Urd: You've always been so goddamn selfish.
Saitou: And you've always been too good.
Saitou: How's that, Yuu?*** Is this going how you wanted? Or are you really the First? And we're still in the palm of you....
Yuu: Nope, this is exactly what I wanted! You guys rock!!
Yuu: And coming up with "complete resurrection of the entire world?" I'm vibing with that way harder than Guren's 'resurrection of all humanity.' It's got kick to it!!
Saitou: Uh. Is that so
Yuu: OK SO! SAITOU!! URD!! LET'S DO THIS TOGETHER!! IT'S THE COMPLETE RESURRECTION OF THE ENTIRE WORLD!!
Saitou: .....Yeah?
Ky: I'm really not a fan of all this complicated talk. I've yet to come across a reason for being alive in the first place.
Ky: Hey you, what do you think.
Kid: EEK-! What..??
Ky: Answer me in 3 seconds or I'll suck out all your blood and you'll die. Three. Two.
Kid: Ah-uhm...wh-I don't seem to have caught the question!?
Ky: What's your reason to live?
Kid: I- I've never really thought about it!
Ky: ...good answer. It's all so arbitrary. There's no meaning to this world at all. At least not one that I've found.
Ky: Uh oh, all our humans got out. Everyone's so desperate to live, I wonder if they'd get in Urd-sama's way if I let them be.
Ky: Well, I guess the meaning of life today will be killing them then.
Ky: It's rabbit season.
Shinya: Nii-san, did you notice-!?
Kureto: We have a pursuer-...
Kureto: AH SHIT. EVERYONE STOP, PREPARE FOR BATTLE.
Ky: Y'know, stopping won't save you from me. I've got some time to kill, so make this good for me yeah? O sword-
Ky: What the-
Ferid: Ah, you found me!
Ky: FERID BATHORYYYYYYYY!!!!
Enemy spotted...!!!
*i'm writing Saitou a little differently in this chapter bc he's dropped his polite language
**vampire is the furigana/pronunciation, the written word is living corpse
***he refers to Yuu in katakana here like when they talk to the homonculous/ancient Greece Yuu
Happy 12th seraph anniversary guys hope everyone has a great new chapter day :D

I never watched ONS, but I always see you grieving what became of it, so I am interested. Can you tell me what first got you into it, what is it about and why you fell out of it? I don't mind any spoilers because I don't intend to watch, I am just madly curious ^^
[takes a long, deep breath] oh boy where do i even start with this one.
Owari no Seraph is a textbook example of a series with amazing characters and great concepts that then gets completely dicked over by the author's own incompetence with writing. Pair that with blatant queerbait and the guy realizing halfway through that he's lost interest in his own main characters and vastly prefers his mary sue self-insert (Guren) instead, and you've got a recipe for a disaster. Which fucking sucks, because I cannot overstate the fact that the series starts off really strong with really good character and plot concepts, before devolving into an absolute goddamn disaster. Let me try to recount it for you, but keep in mind that it may be inaccurate because I dropped the series in like, 2018 so it's been a Hot Minute(tm)
Alright angry rant incoming. Putting this under a readmore bc it gets long
Basically, the story takes place after a cataclysmic apocalyptic event occurs where almost anyone over the age of 13 drops dead, leaving only a scattered handful of people and a whole fuckload of children behind to survive. After this mysterious event occurs, the vampires that inhabited the world came out of the shadows to round up the survivors and turn them into human livestock to ensure their own survival.
The protagonist of the story is a young orphan boy called Yuuichirou, who- alongside deuteragonist Mikaela and the rest of the orphans in Hyakuya orphanage- are captured and turned into vampire livestock, which the hotblooded and angry young Yuu hates, leading him to swear that he's going to become a vampire hunter and kill them all as revenge. Mika- who at the time was a sort of parental figure to the rest of the younger children and always trying to be sweet to Yuu, who rejected his affections bc both boys were severely abused and traumatized as children- finds a map to escape the underground vampire city that they're trapped in after essentially selling his body to a vampire noble, Ferid. But as it turns out, Ferid was fully aware of their plan to escape, so when them + the rest of the orphans attempt to escape to the outside world, he shows up right before the tunnel to the exit and slaughters them all, leaving Yuu as the only survivor. Yuu runs out, sobbing, and runs facefirst into Guren (the ACTUAL protagonist, apparently, even though he sucks), and a squadron of adult vampire hunters who ~mysteriously~ escaped the apocalypse. As it turns out, these vampire hunters have formed soul-contracts with demons in order to manifest the cursed weaponry required to true-kill a vampire.
(OH AND THERE'S MASSIVE FUCKING MONSTERS THAT MANIFESTED AFTER EVERYONE GOT KILLED RUNNING AROUND RIGHT. THE PEOPLE WITH THE CURSED WEAPONRY HUNT THEM TOO. FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE BECAUSE THEY BECAME BASICALLY IRRELEVANT LATER. YES IM SALTY ABOUT THAT AS WELL)
That's episode one. The rest of the anime series is basically centered around Yuu trying to become a vampire slayer after a 3-year timeskip, him forming a bond with a demon to get his own cursed weapon, and then getting wrangled into a squad with a bunch of other 16-year-olds to go running around learning how to be a team and murder stuff. This works as well as you might expect, because Yuu is an edgy lone wolf who spends his days crying himself to sleep at night because he misses Mika and is horrifically traumatized by what happened. Then, ding ding ding! As it turns out, Mika WASN'T killed in the attack, but got turned by the vampire queen herself, and spent the three years he was turned trying to find Yuu again so that they could run away together and escape the whole disaster. Except Mika refuses to drink human blood, the catalyst to complete his transformation, and so he's on a timer, too- he's been drinking the blood of his progenitor, but it's been less and less effective at satiating him. And this is a fuckin' problem, because as it turns out, vampires turn into demons when they die. So Mika is basically in full suicide mode trying to save Yuu, then when Yuu realizes that Mika is alive and a vampire he does a 180 on how he thinks about them and goes into full 'no, I'm going to save YOU' mode about Mika, and so on and so on.
Anyways the true hinging point of the series and the greatest strength is centered around Mika and Yuu's love for each other, because when I say these boys were in-love destined-soulmates, I fucking MEAN it. Like, it's straight-up canon that Mika is in love with Yuu, and Yuu is pretty much outright in love with Mika in return. The problem, however, is that this is a shounen manga, so it's heavily heavily implied that Yuu is actually going to end up with Shinoa (a female character who is actually REALLY FUCKING GOOD SO IT REALLY SUCKS SHE GETS SHAFTED SO HARD LATER), despite him talking to her like. twice. And her only ever sending him longing glances and blushes. And then the aforementioned thing of the author getting more interested in Guren than Mika and Yuu comes into play and that's when I dropped it because Guren is the MOST mary-sue a character can get in terms of him being a sheer boring asshole who fucked the whole world up and has zero redeeming qualities and yet everyone in-story (but mika) loves him and follows him for no fuckin' reason.
As for the rest of the plot- It's later shown that the reason why this event occurred was because of a deal struck with a trapped seraphim, and that Guren was the one who caused the whole fucking thing to happen in the first place because he was sad that his squad died (or something like that) so he sacrificed the entire rest of the world to save like, 5 people that get zero character development. There's a really heavy message about found family through the series that felt really great and poignant in the beginning when it was Mika trying to convince Yuu that he was a family group with the other orphans after their own parents both tried to kill them, but then gets twisted later on to be meaningless because Yuu eventually just starts calling fucking EVERYONE family, and Guren uses it as a means of manipulating him. I dropped the manga after this started to happen because the focus turned almost entirely to Guren and everyone else's characterization went out the fucking window to simply 'trust guren he knows what he's doing' minus Mika, who has come to hate all humans left for Very Good Fucking Reasons. Because, as it turns out, the demon-bound vampire-slaying society have the only adults left who survived because THEY were the ones who trapped the seraphim in the first place, and THEY were running experiments on people with certain genetics/affinities to these seraphs to try to turn them into seraphs and harness their near-godly powers. Yuu and Mika and the rest of the kids in the Hyakuya orphanage, as it turns out, were very strong candidates for this type of experimentation, and the reason why Yuu got snatched up by the humans and Mika got turned by the vampires was because they're the human equivalent of nukes in the human-vampire war. Also, the progenitors of all the vampires was a fallen angel and vampires turn into demons when killed because of it. Which is actually really cool.
So it really fucking sucks that the author started neglecting all the other characters to obsess over his beloved Guren and to excuse all of his shitty selfish actions right when he got to the part explaining the whole seraph project thing. And like, the most frustrating part is that Guren as a complex antagonist works really really well, but the author wants nothing more than for him to be the sad, dark, brooding protagonist everyone loves, so that's the treatment he gives him. It's like he decided midway through the story that he's actually really fucking tired of Mika, meh on Yuu, but loves Guren and wanted him to be protag all along, so that's the point where the story goes down the drain. Luckily, this is after season two of the anime ends, and I haven't heard anything about a potential season 3.
That was only half of my problems though- it also had like, the worst fandom I've ever been in by far, and that's saying something because I was in some pretty fucking bad fandoms in my life. It was just full of the most needlessly hostile shit, with my main issue with it being the fact that it was full of ship wars...over the same damn ship. That being Mikayuu. Or Yuumika. Because, as it turns out, fucking NOBODY seemed to be able to get either Yuu or Mika in-character, they had to slap seme/uke stereotypes onto them and the whole war was raged over whether or not someone was mischaracterizing them because Mika was actually the top, not the bottom, or visa versa (I cannot drive home enough that both sides horrifically mischaracterized them either way. And also that Yuu and Mika were 16- not too young to fuck, but certainly too young to know what the fuck they were doing). There were death threats sent and harassment campaigns over this. You were branded as either being on one side or the other and nobody would accept the fact that both views were wrong. And that's even if you were a shipper in the first place- you also had the Yuu/Shinoa shippers who were overwhelmingly homophobic straight men who thought people were stupid illiterate yaoi fangirls for thinking Mika and Yuu were in love (tbf, most of them were weird yaoi fangirls who were simply another flavor of homophobic), or there were the people who thought that Mika and Yuu were adopted siblings because they took the last name of the orphanage they were in (hyakuya) to abandon their abusive parents/called each other 'family' and that EVERYONE who shipped them was an incest apologist (got hit with this one myself). And even if you weren't interested in shipping either, you weren't safe- I've made some of my best friends in that fandom, despite everything, and one of them didn't ship Yuu and Mika, opting for a QPP/adoptive siblings approach. And they got the MOST rancid shit thrown at them for it by the shippers, despite them not caring that other people shipped them. AND there were Mika haters/lovers who thought he was a 'yandere' for being ''''obsessed'''' with Yuu and running off with him despite the fact that it was shown over and over that Mika was severely traumatized by losing everyone he loved and that Yuu was being psychologically manipulated by the army to be a complacent experiment. Granted, this was all my experience in the 2016-2018 fandom cycle, but still. Nasty nasty nasty.
(oh and also Ferid, aka the guy who murdered everyone in the orphanage but Yuu and -partially- Mika, was heavily implied to be vampirically raping Mika bc he was straight-up a pedophile who only drank blood from people under 16 and getting your blood sucked was apparently orgasmically pleasurable/a sex metaphor, was treated as the 'fabulous gay uncle and best mika/yuu shipper supporter' by most of the fandom because after Mika was turned, he continued to emotionally and psychologically abuse him via his love for Yuu. Nasty!)
((Oh and yes, when Yuu finally gets Mika to bite him and drink his blood, that was used as 'proof' that Mika tops and is actually a smirking hardcore seme dom for blushy subby Yuu. Despite the fact that Mika was dying, sobbing hysterically and yelling at Yuu for making him survive as something he despised, and Yuu was stubbornly yelling back about how he'd love him and accept him no matter what and how he'd find a way to save him and thrusting a bleeding arm in his face to try to force him to drink. Nuance and appreciation for characterization was lost on this fandom.))
Anyways. It really really sucks, because the anime is actually very good. I genuinely would reccomend watching it- the animation is amazing and beautiful, the soundtrack gives you chills, and it covers the story right up until the next story beat and it starts swerving down the gutter, so you can feasibly watch it and then stop right there, mentally tallying it as an open/ambiguous ending. But I wouldn't suggest anything other than that, because ohhhhh boy it. it just isn't worth it. believe me. Everything else is worth it for Yuu and Mika and the Shinoa Squad, but that's where it ends
(ofc i could be wrong and the whole thing is looking up by now but i have zero faith thats the case.)

Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign (Manga) - written by Takaya Kagami, illustrated by Yamato Yamamoto, storyboarded by Daisuke Furuya (7.5/10)
Synopsis
Genres: Dark fantasy, post apocalyptic, action
After the passing of his abusive parents, eight-year-old Yuuichirou is taken in by the Hyakuya orphanage. Soon after, a pandemic sweeps the world, resulting in the deaths of everybody over the age of 13. To make things worse, vampires swarm in and turn the children of the Hyakuya orphanage into livestock.
Eight years later, Yuu aspires to kill the vampires that hold them hostage and to free his family of orphans. His fellow orphan, Mikaela Hyakuya, comes up with an escape plan. This plan goes horribly wrong, as they are intercepted by vampire noble Ferid Bathory who proceeds to massacre them all. Yuu is the only one to escape, and comes into contact with the Moon Demon Company. They offer him the opportunity to join their ranks and exterminate vampires. Fueled by the desire for revenge, he accepts.
Plot
In my opinion, this series is a unique take on the typical vampire story. At first glance it might seem to be a bit generic, even with its post-apocalyptic twist. However, as the story progresses, you can see that everything is a lot, and I mean a LOT more complex than it may appear at first. What starts off as a revenge story turns into a war story with constantly shifting alliances and different motivations. Suddenly there’s not just vampires but demons, angels, and… dinosaurs? This is both a positive and a negative thing. Positive because learning about the mysteries of the world and character motivations is very interesting and keeps me reading. Negative because there is so much that sometimes I get a bit confused on what’s happening. I think it’s also important to note that this series also has three light novels, Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen, The Story of Vampire Mikaela, and Guren Ichinose: Resurrection at Nineteen. All of these novels are canon and explore very important information that is not shown very much in the manga. These series are all made to be able to be read without reading the others, but with how important they are to the story, sometimes plot points in the light novels appear in this manga without explaining much on what they mean. For example, during one fight scene in the later chapters, a character made an appearance during a clutch moment and I had no idea who they were. The way the scene was framed made me feel as if I was supposed to, so I googled it and found out that this character was more prevalent in the light novels. There aren’t too many movements like this, fortunately.
Overall, the plot is pretty good. I particularly enjoy how it explores the question of, “why is life worth living, even during the apocalypse?” I’m also fond of the biblical themes.
Characters
There are a ton of characters in this manga. In fact, there are so many that I feel like they forget about some of them (Where’d your revenge arc go, Yoichi? Where’d you disappear to, Narumi?) For that purpose, I am only going to go over who I deem the four most important to the story.
Starting off, we have Yuuichirou Hyakuya. He starts off as moody and rebellious, thinking of nothing about revenge for his orphan family. As he makes friends, his kind hearted nature shines through, yet he’s still hot blooded and impulsive. Due to the awful abuse and trauma he suffered as a kid, he views himself very negatively and lives with the sole purpose of caring for who he declares his family (which is pretty much anyone who is even remotely kind to him). Personally, I love Yuu a lot. He’s actually one of my favorite characters ever. He strives to save those he loves despite whether it’s feasibly possible to do so, a mindset that might be viewed as stupid by most. It’s the apocalypse after all. Most of humanity is dead. Vampires roam the street. There isn’t one person left on earth who hasn’t lost someone dear to them. In times like these, you have to do everything you can to survive, no matter how underhanded. Although, what’s the point of surviving if theres nothing to live for? If there’s nobody to love and be loved by? That’s why Yuu is willing to risk himself to save his family, a mindset that goes against the concept of an apocalypse. That’s why I think he’s a great protagonist for this type of series. On a side note, the vampires in this series are a direct contradiction to this way of thinking. They live forever and cannot die, most feel little to no emotion, and they typically view themselves as superior to humans. They live because they can’t die, but have no actual reason to live. I know this part on vampires isn’t really related to Yuu, but I wanted to take this opportunity to gush on how much I like how vampires are written as a species in this manga.
Moving on, Mikaela Hyakuya is the secondary protagonist of this manga. He’s Yuu’s fellow orphan who was supposedly slaughtered in the beginning of the story. He is resurrected as a vampire by the vampire queen herself, and aims to rescue Yuu from the clutches of the Moon Demon Company.
As a child, he is kind and optimistic, acting as a big brother to the other children in the orphanage. After the slaughter of the orphan children and his transformation into a vampire, he becomes apathetic and self-loathing, blaming himself for the death of the orphan family. He grows to despise both humans and vampires, only continuing to live for the sake of Yuu.
Like Yuu, Mika is also one of my favorite characters ever. He’s calm, intelligent, and cares for Yuu above all else. He’s the perfect compliment for the rash and self-sacrificing Yuu.
Next up, Shinoa Hiragi is the leader of the squad that Yuuichiro joins once he formerly joins the Moon Demon Company. While outwardly playful, she keeps her walls up at all times and prevents herself from feeling too many emotions. She spent her life looking after herself and herself only, as she couldn’t afford to do otherwise. This is why she ends up falling in love with Yuu, as his willingness to take care of his loved ones and to live freely is something that is the direct opposite to how she’s lived. While I don’t like the idea of Yuu and Shinoa together and don’t think it will happen either, her affection for Yuu makes a lot of sense for her character. However, I do believe that this series as a whole has a problem with defining many of their female characters by their romantic interest in a male one. I understand that the core theme of this series is love, but I feel like there should be more variation in the types of love that motivate them like their male characters do.
Lastly, Guren Ichinose is a lieutenant in the Moon Demon Company and the man who took in Yuu when he escaped the vampires. He is also the protagonist of two of the light novels. He’s very strong and goal oriented, but holds a deep care for his friends and strong guilt regarding his past. Yuu is very loyal to him, as Guren was the one who gave him a reason to keep going after the orphan children were slaughtered. I haven’t read the light novels, so I don’t know his character as well as I could, but I do like him based on what I’ve seen in this manga.
Art
I really like the art! However, it can be hard to follow what’s going on during a fight scene. I do feel as if that’s a common problem that I face when reading any fight scene from any manga, so maybe that’s just a personal problem. I would also like to note that the art style has changed over the course of its runtime. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the new art style, and I definitely also prefer the old one. I don’t think it’s as horrible as some people are making it out to be, but sometimes it does look a bit off. I remember people freaking out over this panel of Guren in particular.
Overall thoughts
I have been reading this manga for about six or seven years now. I have an attachment to it that I can only describe as Stockholm syndrome, and I admit that the score I gave it is inflated by personal attachment. It has ruined my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, I would like to mention that I have only read up until volume 28 as that is the latest physical release in English. I vaguely know some of what happens after that but not in much detail. I’d recommend giving it a shot if you like post-apocalyptic settings and overly homoerotic shounen male friendships.

Diabolik Lovers & Owari no Seraph crossover
Okay so I thought about it like that
The original OnS continues as it is but the Shinoa Team finds out about another cult with a code-name DL/D-ā(ディアボリックラヴァーズ) which they cannot decode. They decide to save whoever was involved in it despite it lasting an entire lifetime (considering ages of the vampires in DiaLovers it’s 16-18 years) which would mean it was almost as fresh as the Hyakuya cult. After getting approval from higher forces Shinoa Team decides to save the subjects under new management; Yuu’s leadership and Mika’s protection.
When they get to the location, which was assumed to be the city where subjects were hidden, Shinoa Team gets some new information from both vampire and human higher-ups. One file included an information about four human children put in the same orphanage suddenly disappearing one night even though there were other children, second file included information about six vampires with various abilities going missing. Despite all having teleportation abilities nobody have ever seen them suddenly appearing anywhere for about 13 years. All said to have disappeared as the youngest one was barely 3 years old. Profiles of the missing children from both cases were displayed on the screens.
Vampires
Shu: Last seen when he was 6 years old, personality characteristics: very cheery, always finds a way to ask someone for a puppy with a very cute expression also promising he wouldn’t ask again the same person on specific week, appearance characteristics: blue eyes, blonde hair (mixed shades).
Reiji: Last seen when he was 5 years old, personality characteristics: oddly mature for his age, great leadership skills, appearance characteristics: magenta eyes, purple hair with white fades.
Laito: Last seen when he was 4 years old, one of the triplets, personality characteristics: unknown, appearance characteristics: green eyes, reddish-brown hair with white fades.
Ayato: Last seen when he was 4 years old, one of the triplets, personality characteristics: very cheerful when he thinks nobody sees him turns defensive when he realizes someone is watching him, appearance characteristics: green eyes, red hair with pink fades.
Kanato: Last seen when he was 4 years old, one of the triplets, personality characteristics: highly unstable emotionally, aggresive towards Laito, was assumed to become insane because of family issues with his mother, appearance characteristics: purple eyes and hair with a fade of very light pink.
Subaru: Last seen when he was 3 years old, personality characteristics: innocent younger brother, pretty naive, appearance characteristics: white hair with pink fades.
Humans
Ruki: Last seen when he was 5 years old, personality characteristics: always wary around women and girls, hard to understand, always avoidant to talk about his father, appearance characteristics: gray-blue eyes (unknown), black hair with light purple fades.
Kou: Last seen when he was 4 years old, personality characteristics: [data has been erased], appearance characteristics: blue eyes, fluffy blonde hair, sometimes tied in a small ponytail on the front.
Yuma: Last seen when he was 4 years old, personality characteristics: typical troublemaker, always running away from the orphanage (always got caught and sent back eventually), overconfident, appearance characteristics: brown eyes, long brown hair usually tied into highly placed bun with bangs.
Azusa: Last seen when he was 4 years old, personality characteristics: always reaching for some kind of blade, in worse cases with scars, he always says that he doesn’t understand why people at the orphanage are upset about his scars and was always explaining that he was doing it to make them happy, appearance characteristics: grey eyes, greyish-green hair with a hairstyle similar to a wild animal putting its ears down.
Everyone on the team agreed that it was odd that some data was missing, not even mentioning the assumption that the experiment might involve messing up with DNA which can code appearance. Yuu and Mika pointed out that in the given files some danger-warning data was included, everyone looked through all the files once again with that thought in mind. The team once again agreed they should be careful depending on which part of the team will take care of finding the vampire subjects.
Kimizuki, Yoichi and Mitsuba decided to take care of finding the humans, leaving the vampire case to Yuu, Mika and Shinoa.

The Eldest Child - Mikaela (Hyakuya)
(Tw for implied death)
To be the eldest child
meant to become their guardian -
Their father who needed a stool
to reach the cupboards
by the sink.
Their older brother who's milk-teeth wouldn't come out -
A child just a few centimeters taller,
a few years older.
But the world was burnt to ash,
and their eyes held trust so great
it could cleanse
our rotten water source,
their adoration warm enough
to heat us in the winter.
And so I embraced their small faces,
held them tightly at night, with a knife beneath the pillow -
I'd stack broken furniture
to reach counters, bound my teeth
to string as you slammed the door
I barely remember their faces, yet I can recall the softness of their skin,
their shrill cries,
their bruised palms.
I remember all those nights
in abandoned houses, ripped sheets
hastily stitched
by untrained hands
I remember you,
and how you refused
to go to sleep before all kids did,
how you'd give them all our food
and go hungry most nights;
Your calloused hand in my own.
Tragedy lies in my every vein
I know you saw it those days
As I saw the agony in yours
We were barely six, barely alive
Though we became their fathers
Long before I was able to write
We spoke a language of our own;
Of glances, tired nods
and hushed conversation
as the children slept.
You were always quick
to sprint ahead,
Hunting for food
on an empty stomach,
searching for water
with a sore throat -
Always back at sundown,
dull green eyes pulled into a visage
of happiness
They celebrated your returns
Waved their small hands in glee
At every new adventure you'd tell
Of our plan to one day be free
And I would stay
A guardian with makeshift knives
A child in shirts too wide
and boots too tight
Always awake, always watching
We would hum songs
of the orphanage
And the children would sway
Our harmony was as broken as it was beautiful
For those moments,
all of the bad would go away
I remember the silent nights
where the moon shone bright
The kids all fast asleep, one curled up
by my side
We'd whisper over the fire,
and your smile would finally drop,
replaced by truth
Of exhaustion and grief, heavy shoulders and tired eyes
Two children
Daggers by their side,
the look in their eyes too old
for their youth
But we kept us alive, hand in hand
in sight of the apocalypse, decaying bodies and our broken land
We stood there, back to back
Your soul and mine combined
Forever intertwined
The eldest child
Knows nothing but sacrifice
It bares itself to the knife, to the fight
Willing to die, willing to endure
all torture of the world
to see them fine
I had this dream, of a paradise
where no one needed
to go hungry or cold
My last bit of young naiveté
To find that place or build it myself
To escape all this pain and suffering
To be free of the horrors of life
For this, I paid the price
A bloodbath I can never forget
The end of life, at the hands of him
I laid in the brutal display, reduced
to what I truly was - a child
But you ran,
For all of us who couldn't no more
And I died, knowing
at least Yuu had
Survived.
- Mikaela

Hey, it’s your monthly anon again. I’ve been thinking more on that doozy of a chapter. Even if Mikaela’s soul is in Yuu, I think either him or our Mika have to have something else going on. Because if Mikaela was dead for thousands of years, how would he have memories of The First’s plan and punishment? Imo the only person that could have such omniscient memories without always being physically alive/present is the floating Yu eye ball of darkness. And it does seem Mikaela was the first original creation it made. So maybe Mikaela has a permanent link to it’s memories? Idk but to me Yuichiro or maybe Mika should have some connection to the original Yu. What do you think?
Oh, I agree that something else has to be going on. We already know the original Yuu that allowed Mika's soul into him already had a soul from one of the fallen angels presumably. It feels like that should be relevant SOMEHOW. I'll be sorely disappointed if it's just written off because something is special about whoever or whatever that is. And even if that isn't what's special here, Mika (the present-day one) has to have something special going on. Why is he Mika yet Mikaela's soul is apparently in Yuu? Is his soul split or something?
Because I went back and reread all those chapters yesterday, I did notice that Rigr/Saito mentioned that Mika just showed up at the Hyakuya orphanage one day and that that orphanage wasn't something he founded and wasn't within the boundaries of his plans. He then accuses Sika Madu of being the cause of all that. If that's true then how can Mika not be special and have something going on? To have Sika Madu (presumably) assign Mika that name is significant. He wouldn't give it to just anyone. But anyways.
I agree with your idea. The fact that Yuuichirou and that floating ball share a name ALSO has to be significant I feel? I suppose it's entirely possible that Sika Madu gave him that name when he saw the connection that Yuu apparently had with Mikaela, but then there's everything you said. It'd make sense that the floating eye Yuu (this is getting confusing omg) would be the only one to properly remember everything that our Yuu and Mika are seeing. I would say you could back this further by the fact that there WAS a floating eye inside of Yuu back when Mika was becoming his demon. I believe Mika was looking into his heart and that's what he saw? I know I just read this yesterday but I read through a lot ;; But anyways, yeah. Again, I agree with what you're saying. I don't have any other answers as to why present-day Yuu would have those memories otherwise since you're right. Mikaela was dead for a lot of what went down in what we saw. The only constant presence was the floating eye Yuu.

40 Day Anime Challenge Day 4- Favorite song from an anime: "X.U" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Gemie from "Seraph of the End" (2015)
This was a hard question because my favorite song changes at least once a month, if not once a week! But this one is up there in my all-time favorites because 1) THE ANGST and 2) it's perfect for my Mika x Yuu ship UwU (might have something to do with the fact that it's literally written for them idk lol)
Synopsis: After a virus kills most of humanity, Yuichiro and Mikeala Hyakuya are abducted from their orphanage by vampires who keep them as livestock to feed their thirst for blood. When they try to escape, Yuu makes it out, but believes Mika to be dead. Yuu develops a fierce hatred of vampires and grows up to join an anti-vampire militia. But a mission will force him to confront his past and rethink his prejudice if he wants to protect those closest to him.

A scapegoat, I will be
Synopsis: Set during chapter 119. Practically on the run from Guren and the Shinoa Squad, Mikaela confesses to have still not gotten over his guilt.
(Muse A holds Muse B closely to help them wind down after a stressful day/event.)
Pairing: Yuichiro Hyakuya x Mikaela Hyakuya (Mikayuu)
———————-
“It’s my fault that the kids are dead, it’s my fault. We wouldn’t be stuck in this mess if it weren’t for me.”
He meant the resurrection process, of course.
Yuu wouldn’t have had to choose between him and the children from the orphanage they grew up in if it weren’t for him.
It was a blurt that came out of the blue, enough to make the black-haired boy beside him turn his head to give him a glance.
They had just outrun Guren along with the rest of the Shinoa Squad moments ago, and now they were both sitting atop the highest point of the Tokyo Tower.
It was surprisingly peaceful up there; it was the one place where the world weren’t privy to their thoughts. The sun was out and the skies were a beautiful bright blue — so why must on this day, two teenagers be compelled to make such a do-or-die decision?
“No it wasn’t, Mika. We all didn’t know that the plan wouldn’t work.” Yuu responded, a frown now replacing the relieved smile he had after managing to climb all the way up.
The demon placed his hands over his face, as if burying his eyes from the world.
He began to tremble here and there, his eyes watering and his sight becoming glassy. “I regret it...I regret it...I should be blamed for everything that happened, why don’t you blame me?” He whispered in a whimper.
It was barely audible; like Mika was suppressing his own words because he knew that Yuu would’ve worried about him day till night — but deep down, this scenario played in his mind time and time again.
The children.
Sanguinem.
The map.
The gun.
And then blood, so much blood.
The screams of agony and terror had never left his mind; the memories of Akane and the little ones all dashing for the exit.
Then that man appears and muddies his thoughts — that ruthless unforgivable monster — killed them.
And it was all his fault, because he was the one who made the plan to escape that night.
Finding a scapegoat was beyond them, and it should be, because there was no one else to blame aside from him. He should be blamed for their deaths, and him only.
Mika was snapped out of his thoughts when he felt himself leaning towards the left; where Yuu had been sitting. His head was rested on Yuu’s shoulder and he almost let his tears flow down here and there, because he felt a familiar warmth, one that he yearns for every day of his life.
Holding Mika close to him, one of his hands protecting the back of his head gently, “I could never blame you for something that was out of your control, Mika.” Yuu whispered back, it was tender yet so loathsome to hear at the same time.
How can he be so forgiving?
Why is his heart so kind?
Time and time again, he feels like he doesn’t deserve a person like Yuu.
But, each moment that he spends with him, he gets reminded of how lucky he is to still be here, not exactly alive but — to be with Yuu.
And Yuu doesn’t hate him, he can never hate him. Mika sighed, giving in to the boy’s embrace.
He reluctantly wrapped his arms around Yuu as well, holding him just as gently. “How can you always be so positive all the time, do you not see the situation we’re in?” He continued.
The boy leaned back a little, allowing the blonde-haired demon to sink deeper into his loving embrace. “‘Course, I do!” He exclaims, the seemingly goofy demeanour coming back.
Then, it dropped once more again and Yuu let a bitter look appear in the hollow of his eyes. “But, I’m not positive all the time, Mika, I often hide what I really feel behind a smile, ya know?” He tells the blonde-haired demon by his side. “I don’t want the others to worry about me.”
There was a minute of silence between them, none of them were speaking. It didn’t reassure the blonde boy at all that, the person he cared for the most in this world, was saying such a thing.
Of course, he’d worry for him just as much as Yuu worried for him. Maybe, he worried a bit more — or even, a little too much.
But, he’ll never admit that out loud.
“Well, you shouldn’t, Yuu-chan.” Mika tells him, tightening his grip around the boy a little more.
Then, as if his cheeks began to burn a little, “I’m worried about you.” He whispered into the cloth of Yuu’s uniform.
Being in Yuu’s arms and telling him how much he cares and worries about him made Mikaela feel a blast of emotions he couldn’t exactly describe; it’s been years since his humanity had been taken from him, what are these human emotions doing here?
“Really, you don’t hafta worry about me. I’m really okay, I promise.” He ran his fingers along the back of the boy’s head, intertwining his fingers with the blonde locks of hair. “But, I’m here for you, Mika. I’m always going to be, and if you try to stop me then...I won’t let you because I’m not letting you go and be alone again!”
A chuckle escaped the demon’s lips, and he felt his heart become heavy with love for the boy.
“Yuu-chan..”
And the two stayed there for a moment; wrapped into each other’s arms and not minding for the meantime that Guren and the Shinoa squad were out looking for them — they’ll deal with excuses for running off later, but of course, they’ll do it together.

He was a burning star, perhaps even the brightest one in the sinful sky. A wandering piece in a too vast universe, his flames burning stronger than any other sun around. And yet the strongest the flames, the faster they always extinguished...
He didn't really belong anywhere he guessed, not to his body neither to his name anymore.
And yet, as he raised his white gloved hand and observed familiar fingers that now almost felt foreign to his emerald eyes, Yuichiro- he had never felt this alive.
He felt complete by Mika's side, breathing more easily whenever Guren ruffled his hair in that annoying way of his. He tasted life every time he argued with Kimizuki, when Shinoa and Mitsuba seemed to find a reason to smile.
He knew he had a life when Akane, and everyone else in the Hyakuya orphanage welcomed a monster he was afraid to face himself.
He was alive. He had a family. He carried the heaven's burdens on his shoulders, but never doubting his existence at this time was bound to them only.
Even if his life so far had been a fabrication, even if his name was a lie-
Yuichiro wanted to protect that miserable weak reality more than anything else.
"Damn I'm hungry again..." His shoulders slouched against the remaining of a building, the warm breeze tickling his skin as it brushed the mess of his raven hair.
He was Yuichiro, just a boy with a family he loved more than he ever loved himself.

Owari no Seraph chapter 132 english fan translation
Good morning and welcome to vampires, I'll be your host: Tired. The official has been out for over a day over at here please make sure to read it if you haven't and thanks for your consideration!
Battling to break through to the first
Yuuichirou has set foot on enemy territory!!
Saitou: Well hey there, what an unusual caller. What have you come for?
Yuu: Hey!! Hi there!! Greetings all vampires!! Yeah, I just had something to talk with you about, so!
Lest: The fuck?
Ky: Urd-sama
Ky: He's buddies with Ferid, could he have come back too? But…
Ky: Where's his team? I can't sense any of them…
Yuu: WHOA WHOA WAIT HOLD UP A SEC! I DIDN'T COME TO FIGHT, I JUST WANNA TALK!
Mika: Y'know, if you put it all together, haven't we just been guinea pigs from the start?
Yuu: Huh?
Mika: What's our last name
Yuu: Hyakuya
Mika: Yeah as in the Hyakuya religion, since they owned our orphanage.
Yuu: Oh yeah.
Mika: And Saitou was constantly in and out of the orphanage. And he's a second progenitor and also that angel from inside our memories.
Yuu: little ah
Yuu: Yeah….
Yuu: It's always….always been something like that, hasn't it. We saw a lot of that even before we were taken by the vampires. Sure was a lot of stuff leading up to now, huh.
Mika: That was a lotta words to say nothing, did you remember even more again?
Yuu: Well it's just…like Saitou and them, I was always just like "and who the hell is this guy."
Mika: Same, Akane and I always just thought he was some nice guy. Scary to think about now.
Yuu: For real. Especially considering there was a time I met Mahiru whil I was with him.
Mika: Seriously? I can't even believe this anymore, you don't pay enough attention to your own life Yuuchan.
Yuu: Right back at you.
Yuu: Just what happens when you've got no will to live.
Mika: Well, we were kids after all.
Mika: Although, getting experimented on by the religion was probably because of Saitou or one of his guys, either him or the First. Don't know which.
Yuu: I mean probably.
Mika: One of them probably had to do with JIDA too, wouldn't know which for that one either, though.
Yuu: Seems like it. Better hope an even bigger fish doesn't show up, it'd get too much to handle.
Mika: No kidding. Plenty on my plate with just Ferid and Guren and Mahiru to worry about.
Yuu: Yeah. Although
Yuu: There was that angel that totally blasted the First.
Mika: Nope, nuh uh, we're not thinking about that. He's out of our scope, way out.
Yuu: Aren't we talking about the sun?
Mika: I'm finished with that thing, it's way too bright.
Yuu: Hahaha
Mika: But the First or Saitou, went out of their way to create us with those experiments.
Yuu: Yeah?
Mika: I'd guess they did it because they need us.*
Yuu: I got the feeling from those memories that maybe we're necessary to resurrect Mikaela?
Mika: Hmm…I could see that. But it doesn't seem like they've ever succeeded. After how many ten's of tens of thousands of years. Why do you think that is?
Yuu: They've still got us switched around, don't they?
Mika: That's what I'm thinking.
Mika: Which is why we don't have to worry about getting captured, right? Even if they get us, it won't end with them being able to resurrect Mikaela.
Yuu: Huh, really?
Mika: Yeah, isn't it?
Yuu: I mean…it makes sense. So then, it should be fine if we get as close as we want to the vampires?
Mika: We'd definitely be able to gather more information by doing it.
Mika: We might even be able to get help in the fight with Guren collecting those keys.
Yuu: Oh shit!!!
Mika: Just as long as they still think you're Yuu, they won't be able to kill you so easily as long as you've got information on Mikaela's resurrection. The game is making them think what we want.
Yuu: So in other words, we've gotta pretend like we're super psyched to play our role in this experiment to keep everyone from finding out that I'M Mikaela?
Mika: Yes exactly. Think you can do it?
Yuu: Well this IS my area of expertise, so y'know!
Mika: …if you get this wrong, we both die. Still ok?
Yuu: Ok well it's not like there's a choice in the matter.
Mika: You're not very reassuring.
Yuu: But c'mon, isn't this fun? It's OUR turn now!
Mika: Huh?
Yuu: From the orphanage and everything that's happened since, we've always been pieces on someone else's gameboard, but now WE'RE the ones doing the decieving! You're not feeling the thrill?
Mika: It's fun!
Yuu: Hey, just listen to me for a second! I'm-…
Ky: Silence, human. There isn't a normal human left alive in this world, I can't trust any of you.
Yuu: Uhhhhh, yeah well-…uh…I just thought I could be of some use to you here so I-
Ky: Lest Karr-sama
Lest: Don't worry, I will protect Urd-sama. You take the front.
Ky: Don't mind if I do. Sword-,
Yuu: HEY HANG ON!! JUST LISTEN!!
Ky: Drink my blood!!
Yuu: GOD DAMMIT!
Yuu: Wow he's strong…
Ky: You're so weak, let loose like you did before!
Yuu: Had you there didn't I
Yuu: Rip it apart, Mikaela.
Ky: Oh shit
Ky: Ohhh not bad! Better than before!
Ky: The hell, it's not healing? In that case-
Yuu: So can I win?
Mika: You don't need to, if we just cast spell of "you can't kill us."
Yuu: Alright, then I'll just say it from here.
Yuu: HEY, THE FIRST! SAITOU! LISTEN TUP! YOUR EXPERIMENT SUCCEEDED!!
Yuu: WE'RE-…!!
Ky: SILENCE, HUMAN!
Ky: WOW you're strong now. Can you really get to this point while still being human?
Yuu: Shit, and he's in 5th standing!? I'm gonna burn through my calories way too fast.
Mika: Wait a minute, Yuuchan! You're gonna get killed if you don't curse them now!
Yuu: I said I know, they're not exactly giving me space to speak here!
Yuu: I REGAINED MY MEMORIES!!
Yuu: WE HAVE THE SAME GOAL!! WE HAVE INFORMATION REGARDING MIKAELA'S RESURRECTION!! SO YOU CAN'T KILL US!
Japan Imperial Demon Army Main Residence 7th Floor Laboratory
Shikama: Yuu
Shikama: YUU.
Yuu: ACK WHAT THE FUCK?? There's a voice inside my head….
Shikama: I'm here, Yuu. Come to me.
Ky: What the hell, the First!!?
Shikama: We'll end this whole story here.
Saitou: DAMNIT! Was this seriously still all your plan!!?
Saitou: All hands to battle! Do NOT let Yuu get to the First!!!
Yuu: Oh, so that's how it is. The First and Saitou aren't getting along.
Mika: So what are you gonna do, Yuuchan?
Yuu: Does it matter? I'd say our curse hit its mark. They can't kill us, not when their plan is however many tens of tens of thousands of years old.
Mika: Yeah
Yuu: So we've gotta talk to both Saitou and the First. From now on, NOTHING is getting past us.
Saitou: Stay right here, Yuu-kun. Mika-kun. The First is far more fearsome than I, you'll be used by him.
Saitou: Good, very nice. We'll hear you two out now.
Yuu: Let's do this, Mika. Let your power go as wild as it can.
Mika: Sure
The curse of his determination circles throughout the body…!!
*the text here could be read as either "they need our power" or "they need our help"
also the chapter title is lowercase bc they didn't write the First like they usually do they wrote "progenitor." Which means the same thing definitionally but like also it's already a word in this series with a different more specific meaning so.
#owari no seraph#english translation#i wrote this really annoying this time i usually have more time for cleanup but its late enough and i just wanna be
