Whenever I fall in love with a character immediately, I call that the Hisoka Effect

My friend convinced me to watch HxH a few years back and the very moment Hisoka came on screen, I texted her “Idk who the clown guy is but I LOVE him already”

It happened in like 10 seconds

ngl i feel like hxh did the whole "character meets someone weak and helpless who changes them for the better and makes them a better person" trope 100x better than arcane did. and im specifically talking about meruem and komugi vs isha and jinx. and i know that most of it is time stuff but even then i feel like its done so much better cause in both scenarios you know whats going to happen

the minute that character comes on screen you know that "oh theyre gonna change the other character some how (likely for the better". but i feel like hxh does it a lot better because they give them time to talk and get to know each other and we get to see those moments.

but with arcane (and i know this is because of time) we dont really get that, we get flashbacks and thats about it when it comes to isha and jinx and- do NOT get me wrong i love isha and jinx but i could never get attached to them the way that i really wanted to

ALSO in both scenarios i think its important that both characters end up dying in the end, meruem and komugi commit suicide together and isha dies protecting jinx and jinx "dies" (we all know she's alive... be fr) at the end of arcane too. but i feel like meruem and komugi's scene is better than both of isha's and jinx's purely because they did it together and it revolves around each other.

isha and jinx both changed each other and died for the greater good because of each other. but with jinx and her "death" it feels kinda removed because isha is NOT mentioned at all after her death (if we're not counting visual references)

meruem and komugi found a meaning of life in each other and died together and while it wasn't really for the 'greater good' it was just because they loved each other and wanted to spend their last moments together and i feel like that completes their arc a lot better mainly because they were together and they chose to die like that

idk i just think that hxh did that whole trope better-
