I watched the begins≠youth show a couple days ago. I was too busy to talk about it but now I have down time and kind wanna go over some stuff. (I pirated it for the boycott obviously and bc the platform Hybe released it on is ass backwards and weird)

I was kinda concerned that I wouldn't get emotionally invested with the story without BTS there but I really liked it so far. It hits the emotional beats really well. The actors are really good and do a good job bringing their own individuality into their performance while also emulating some mannerism of their respective members character. Enough that I'm reminded of BTS but not too much that makes it feel weird or uncanny.

They changed some things but not too much so far. I think the way the BTUniverse was presented made it much easier to adapt it into a series. But also made it so some characters are just too devoid of their respective members personality. Such as Dogeon. He doesn't feel like Namjoon to me and his actor doesnt resemble him at all I feel like the other actors even just slightly resemble the members but not him and I really don't like it. But What we know of all their characters is only their adult selves after what happens in high school tho so I forgive it but he's the only one I had trouble really vibing with bc of that.

I don't know if theyre gonna include the supernatural elements into the show it seems like it might be a crime drama murder mystery where they deal with extenuating circumstances of their daily lives while investigating the past and how they may be connected with each other. Their was a lot more emphasis placed on yoongi mothers death and what may have lead to it than in the original BTU.

I like the direction but I would have loved the supernatural elements more than just another murder mystery HS drama.

Jins character (hwan) really pissed me off at first but it was intentional ofc. The actor does a good job. His character is quiet and contemplative but cute when he wants to be. Loved the moments between his character and Namjoons (Dogeon) I'ma namjonist at heart and BTU was giving namjin hard ASF.

The actor for hobis character (hosu) is a master at emulating his mannerisms and even the inflection in his voice and his dialect. It was amazing how I immediately knew who he was while I kinda struggled for the other characters until I realized they still had the same last names as the BTS members 💀. Hes cute and acts as a mediator for the group like jhope sometimes does irl. The actor does a good job of balancing hobis sunny personality and his quiet suffering with his trauma and disorder. I think his narcolepsy might still be munchausen's disorder like in the og.

The actor for taehyungs character (jooan) really matched his carefree and playful nature of both his character and taehyung. His smile and facial expressions really remind me of taehyung. He reminds me of how tae portrayed his character in hwarang. They took away his sister so idk if tae(jooan) killing his dad is gonna be something that happens since his sister's abuse was the motivator for it. Again I think it's bc they may have taken away the supernatural time travel elements.

I was worried about yoongis character (cein). I was really hoping they didn't portray him as one dimensional. Just angsty sleepy and quiet. The same way some army's portray yoongi in fanfics sometimes. But I like that they included how cute loud and mischievous he can be with bursts of energy. How reliable and loyal he is. How he cares for ppl with actions instead of words. I think Cein's personality resembled yoongis the most out of any other character and their respective member. The one thing I ABSOLUTELY hated was the implication that yoongi or his character would be uncomfortable with queerness even as a joke. Mr tongue technology himself?? I don't think so. They can miss me with that bullshit.

Haru being a unisex name just like Jimin is so cute. I like Jimins character his actor is really good and nailing the more serious scenes. His story along with yoongis(Cein) was the most compelling to me so far. I like how his trauma is portrayed and even the stigma around it. I like how they put him in charge of the decorations and cake for Cein's birthday like Jimin used to do irl before the company sorta took that over. I don't remember Jimin(haru) having an older brother but fuck him and his mom and dad.

Like I said before Joons character (Dogeon) bothered me the most. He's poor and sad and that's really all there is to him rn and it kinda sucks. The actor doesn't remind me of namjoon at all. His performance is good but the writing for the character is just a bit weak. They also make him more law abiding than he was in the BTU. He acts as a voice of reason to tehyungs (jooan) mischief but I don't really remember him being like that. But again the BTU didn't explore their highschool days THAT much.

Jungkook character (jeha) is adorable. the actor is a minor so I hope ppl take that into account when talking about him and his character. His home life isn't as bad as it was portrayed in the BTU but I think the abuse he faces will obviously escalate. I like the dimension they added to his character. I'm ready to see where this goes for him.

I screamed when I saw Jung sungil as jins(hwan) dad. Very good choice. I loved him in the glory but I'm so prepared to see him as a villain. Also the actors from beyond evil playing jungkooks(jeha) older brother.

Very interested to see where this trail goes with yoongis(Cein's) mom. If Hwans dad did actually SA her and what lead to her death. I was surprised they included that detail. I also have a feeling that Hwan's dads weied issue with Hwan having friends may have something to do with Cein's mom.

There also seems to be a culminating revelation of how the boys were involved in Cein's mom death. They kept showing flashbacks of each boy when some building exploded. I thought it was yoongis suicide in BTU but then they showed both where Cein was during the explosion so it was some other fire and not the fire that namjoon dies in (didn't relaize how many fire related deaths was in the BTU) bc I believe that takes place later when they're older and if they changed that fire to fit the lack of super natural elements then it still wouldn't fit bc jooan doesn't know who Cein is at the time of the explosion. So it must be the fire yoongis mom dies in if not then idk.

Honestly just really looking forward to seeing where this all leads especially if they've excluded the time traveling.

The show also gave me this weird sense of sad nostalgia for hyyh Bangtan. I cried a little seeing them interacted with such simplicity especially Cein's bday scenes bc I was just heavily reminded of BTS and really miss them.

Taehyung I think. I for sure agreed to watch Hwarang for him even though he’s barely in it

What makes them your current bias?

JK is still my bias for sure, the most consistent one in the rotation. I think he’s an all-rounder for me. I love his dance style, his voice, his looks and his personality is fun and intriguing and very different to mine in a way that makes me curious. Also, I love piercings, tattoos and his sense of fashion

Who is your bias wrecker?

Yoongi and Namjoon are always battling here. Yoongi for his calm demeanour and easy-going charm (and beautiful face) and Namjoon for how fucking attractive he is. Like I would try and date him for sure. He looks amazing but the way his mind works is the sexiest. Growth is sexy too, so is being inquisitive and thoughtful. Our cooking would be horrendous together, so he can pay for takeout, but we'd have exhausting and amazing conversations on politics and philosophy. 

Which members are you currently obsessing over that aren't your bias/bias wrecker?

No one, Namjoon is my prime obsession for now, JK just left and Yoongi was a long term resident in my brain before that. 

When did you first discover this group?

Probably summer 2020. I lived with my ex and his family at the time. His sister was a Kpop fan since 2nd gen and had tried to show me stuff but nothing stuck until 7th sense - nct u. Then I got into GG and eventually BTS with their MAMA performance, but I was resistant for some reason. Then it clicked and took over my brain that summer. 

Have you ever been to one of their concerts?

Nope unless we’re counting their online pandemic concert. I was home for the holidays, having breakfast in bed watching it. My dad set up the sound system for maximum comfort.

Its not that I think this way but there is a huge chunk of PPL who do, the fandom has a huge part in appropriating their idol's image to newer Ppl and I'm speaking from experience taehyung is still appropriated as the quirky guy.

His artistic tendencies, resolution to do things he wants instead of giving in to what's expected or judgement (eg,squid game costume, while jk easily said he wouldn't go so far: taehyung did) and love for jazz music etc are still his hidden qualities. He should highlight them more is what I'm saying or rather build on them more

I think he has a clear identity and the fandom can see it, he is highlighting those traits: take a look at Layover, take a look at all the snippets he released, the music he shared, the artist he surrounds himself with, le jazz de v, it’s beginning to look a lot like christmas.

KANG WAS on hoseong’s radar because he was an avid watcher of kdramas in his free time. the bts member had made a passing comment in one of his vlives at some point talking about how kang seemed to be in many of the dramas he’s watched recently, as well as complimenting his acting skills.

OF COURSE, kang was very aware of who park hoseong was, and he was flattered by the male’s comments, taking to his instagram to thank hoseong humbly. that’s how they slowly began their friendship, with hoseong commenting under the post and soon liking many of kang’s following posts as the older did the same.

⊂ HOSEONG ✶ LEE DOHYUN ⊃

HOSEONG knew dohyun way before he ever debuted as an actor in 2O17. due to his move to seoul at an early age, hoseong met dohyun towards the beginning years after his debut under bts, having run into him at one point when he was in a hurry, but since that day, they would come to run into each other even more.

THEY WERE basically like “what the hell?” right? because what are the chances? so one day dohyun just decided to invite hoseong out on a coffee where they properly got to know one another and became close friends ever since. dohyun is probably hoseong’s closest friend after his members.

HOSEONG met soo-hyun on the set of ‘it’s okay to not be okay’ where he had his second acting role after debuting with taehyung on hwarang. he was pretty comfortable and extroverted around strangers so it wasn’t very difficult for him to introduce himself to his co-workers, telling soo-hyun how much of a fan he was.

THEY GOT to know one another more during a work dinner after soo-hyun said he wanted to celebrate hoseong’s first appearance in the drama. they became friends rather quickly ever since that day, with hoseong even posting a picture of himself with soo-hyun looking rather tipsy and captioning it calling soo-hyun his hyung.

HOSEONG met dong yeon on the set of ‘vincenzo’ when he was making a special appearance for the show through a cameo. hoseong actually watched ‘vincenzo’ actively, and kept up with the latest episodes. he found dong yeon’s character sweet and had even met the actor prior on the set of ‘it’s okay to not be okay’.

THEY ONLY reached friends status when bumping into each other at a gym one day, a place that dong yeon regularly began visiting meaning the duo had time to talk. they would spot for each other and exchanged numbers after some time, leading to many outings of the duo in seoul.

taehyung and mc being mad w each other but him refusing to let them go is so fjdkdjdkskfkkf like he really sat on them and was like “fine, we’ll be angry. but we’re gonna be angry TOGETHER whether you like it or not 😒” it reminds me of when jimin and tae held hands in an interview while looking away from each other sulkily 😭

also: i love that jimin is always borderline insane w jealousy in your stories. and he’s apologetic but also…not? at the same time. just like “yes i want you to never talk to another man again yes i am crazy and i’m sorry that it bothers you, but it bothers me more” i wonder what brought this one on? was it the ex again?

is that not the most Taehyung thing to do? (T-T)

as for Jimin...

If it's a persistent trait in my stories that Jimin's simultaneously apologetic and non-apologetic about his feelings, it's because I've always perceived that he's sort of like that. I don't believe he's toxic in the least, in fact, Park Jimin is probably one of the greenest flags out there, however, we all know how kind-hearted and loving he is towards the people close to him so I can see how his feelings would come from a place of "Yes, I am jealous of other people because you're my friend and I love you so much" but the guilt he'd feel would stem from hurting his loved ones so it creates this sort of dichotomy. Jimin is all around a very conflicting individual. But, of course, that's just my speculation, not a fact.

as for what brought it on, my personal headcanon that it was a colleague getting a bit too close and our boy crashed an after work meeting hence why there were angry with each other in the beginning

While filming Hwarang, V became friends with the other actors from the cast, notably Park Seojoon and Choi Wooshik. Together with more friends of theirs, namely Peakboy and Park Hyungsik, they formed the Wooga family. They’ve regurlarly shared about their informal meetings on SNS. They filmed In The Soop : Friendcation and Seojin’s Kitchen (see above) together.

V also has a pomeranian dog named Yeontan that often appears near him in casual SNS posts. You can see him on those tweets: 171227 #1, 171227 #2, other tweets. Taehyung filmed a Vlive (now on Weverse) to introduce him to us.

K | Strong Woman Do Bong Soon | Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Romcom, Sci-fi, Workplace | 2017 | An excellent drama with accurately portrayed relationships and character development. The leads are so cute and fluffy I genuinely forgot the crime subplot when I rec’d this to my friend who can’t watch anything dark. Squad (minion?) goals. | (20/10)

K | Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo | Romcom | 2016 | Everyone loves this one, but it just isn’t my favourite. Extra points because I watched this with my sisters during Q*arant*ne and we bonded. | (9/10)

K | Her Private Life | Romcom, Workplace | 2019 | Excellent, amazing, I loved this one. A supporting character was a bit annoying but was also a great SC, so overall good friend vibes. Humorous scenes served. | (10/10)

K | Ghost Doctor | Fantasy, Romcom | 2022 | Laugh-out-loud hilarious with excellent plot and character growth scenes sprinkled throughout. Could have used a dash more of the romance in my opinion, but overall a very good drama I would recommend. | (9/10)

K | Goblin | Drama, Fantasy, Romcom | 2016 | Iconic; a must-watch. Humour and angst interwoven with touching characters to create an outstanding plot. Several plot twists had me surprised, and I must say I’m happily surprised that the ending of Goblin is not more talked about, so late-comers to the party like me don’t have the experience ruined. | (100/10)

(I had to take a hiatus from dramas as 3 dramas with Ji Chang-Wook right after each other was too much for me and I was depressed & single LOL. A word of advice to my kdrama girlies, ration out your JCW.)

Chapter 4: Daydream

As the months pass, Jin becomes more and more agitated. His fits of rage now hold new power as he’s able to take down their men with ease. It’s only the members of the Inner Circle that stand a chance against him. Even though it’s irritating for Hoseok to play babysitter, he has to admit that he’s proud of Jin’s progress.

“I’m not going on another dead end mission!” Jin barks, tossing the file onto the table angrily. “You can’t keep ending me away just because I point out the holes in your plans!”

“I can do whatever the fuck I want with you, Seokjin!” Yoongi growls, plunging a knife into the wood of the table. “I’ll put you in a fucking coma if you don’t step in line!”

“Stop damaging my table!” Namjoon barks before Jin can retort, pulling the knife out of the wood. “The pair of you need to get yourselves together! We’re not going to find Jang-ssi’s killer this way!”

“We’re not going to find him at all, if you keep bringing on useless hackers!” Jin shouts, throwing a knife at Namjoon’s head. Hoseok catches it mid-air and glares at Jin, the man huffs and sits down in his seat with his arms crossed.

“It’s not my fault that they’re all liars,” Namjoon huffs, giving his brother a grateful look. “But that doesn’t mean you should just kill them! You’re starting to piss off our allied companies!”

Jin rolls his eyes, “Then why don’t you just bring on that Vante person that everyone keeps talking about. Every single hacker we bring on seems to mention him.”

“We already sent in a request to the Hwarang Boys,” Yoongi huffs, standing from his chair. “We’re waiting for an answer, apparently there’s a waiting list. It’s going to take a lot of convincing to put us at the top.”

Jin sniffs indignantly as Yoongi stomps out of the room, picking his knife back up when Hoseok slides it to him. “He can’t be that good.”

“Believe me he is, I don’t know how the Hwarang Boys have kept him on their payroll.” Namjoon mutters, following closely behind Yoongi’s retreating back.

Hoseok rubs his face tiredly, “What exactly is your goal by pissing us off, Jin? We’re the only ones that are going to help you.”

Jin glares at him, “I could find him myself! I don’t need any of you to help me!”

Hoseok pulls his gun out of his holster and slides it down to Jin angrily, “Fine then! Go and get your sorry ass killed! We’ll bury your body next to your father when they dump it on our doorstep!”

Hoseok’s hands shake as he leaves the table, he catches himself on the doorframe as the tremors begin to wrack through his body.

“I really need you to stop doing this to me,” Jin huffs, wrapping his arms around Hoseok’s waist and pulling him to his firm chest. Hoseok grits his teeth as Jin gently moves them down to the floor as his body shakes in his arms.

“Stop pissing me off then!” Hoseok pants as the tremors die down and he lays slumped against Jin’s chest. “My body can’t handle all these emotions on top of a horrible sleep schedule!”

Jin huffs and pulls Hoseok’s sweaty bangs out of his face, “Stop drinking so much whiskey then, I’m sure it’s not helping.”

Hoseok huffs as he tries to bring his breathing down to a normal level, he sighs as Jin’s croaked fingers brush through his hair. “I get that you’re angry Jin, but can you please tone it down a bit. I can’t keep fighting with you and keep my brother from driving himself into the ground. Yoongi and I are barely keeping the company together as it is, finding Jang-ssi’s killer is our top priority, but it isn’t our only one.”

“Sorry,” Jin mutters quietly, leaning his head down on Hoseok’s shoulder. “There’s something else bothering me right now and I’m taking it out on you guys. I’m sorry, Hoba, I know you’re doing a lot to help me.”

Hoseok sighs and reaches a hand around to pat the back of Jin’s head, “Just take it out in the boxing ring or the shoot range next time. I’m tired of sending apology letters to our allied companies for sending back their hacker with a bullet in their brain.”

Jin huffs but nods against Hoseok’s shoulder, the pair just sit there for a moment taking deep steady breaths together until Hoseok’s body stops trembling slightly.

“Can I ask what’s bothering you Jin?” Hoseok asks, laying a hand over top of the arm across his chest. Jin sighs into Hoseok’s shoulder and slumps against the wall behind them.

“It’s going to have to be another secret between us, do you really want to keep so many from your brother?” Jin asked, peeking out of the corner of eyes over at Hoseok.

“Namjoon has his own secrets, we may be brothers but we’ve learned over the years that we don’t need to tell each other everything.” Hoseok says softly, tilting his head to look at Jin better. “And keeping what’s bothering you to yourself is obviously not helping, so you need to tell someone, Jin.”

Jin sighs heavily, “I have a younger brother, I had to leave him with a friend of mine when I came here. I didn’t want him to be around our mother while she’s in a drug coma, he keeps asking me to come home. The longer I’m here, the more I worry that my excuses for being away aren’t going to work.”

“How old is he?” Hoseok asks, not bothering to ask for the boy’s name. He knew Jin would want to keep his brother away from this world, even to the point of no one knowing his name.

“He’s twelve and follows me around like a little puppy,” Jin chuckles fondly. “This is the longest I’ve been away from him, other than when I was at school but even then I’d visit now and again. He doesn’t understand why I can’t now.”

Hoseok hums in acknowledgement, “We’ll find him soon Jin, we’ll bring him to justice. I wish there was something I could do to help you.”

“This is enough,” Jin murmurs, tightening his arms around Hoseok’s body. Hoseok pats his arm and relaxes into Jin’s hold, hoping that Yoongi doesn’t come across them until Jin is ready to get off the floor.

“I thought you were going to take it easy!” Jin grunted as he blocked Hoseok’s swing at him with his bamboo katana, the wood of the blades clanged together the wooden sound echoing off of the sparring room.

“I am taking it easy,” Hoseok counters, dodging Jin’s charge at him with a simple side step and moving to swipe at his back, Jin blocked it as he quickly turned to face him again. “This is basically meditation for me.”

“In a world of guns and bombs, why did you choose a sword as your main weapon?” Jin huffs, flipping over Hoseok’s swipe at his feet and swiping down at him as he landed back on his feet.

Hoseok smirked as he watched Jin dance around the room with him, dodging and countering his moves with ease. “You’ll always need a silent way of taking down your enemies, there’s no gun in the world that can kill as quietly as a blade. And a swordsman can use any weapon at any time, marksmen are limited if they only focus on that skill set.”

Jin huffed as Hoseok slowly backed him up with his swipes towards the tall pile of gym mats, he back flipped and landed on top of them. Pointing his blade down triumphantly at Hoseok, “I have the high ground now, Hoba. You have no chance of beating me.”

“You underestimate my power, Jin.” Hoseok teases, kicking at the pile of mats causing them to tumble to the ground and forcing Jin to roll onto the floor to avoid the fall. Hoseok had his blade against Jin’s neck before he could rise, “Like I said, my young padawan, you still have much to learn.”

Jin smirked at him and gestured down with his eyes, Hoseok looked down to see Jin’s blade pointing at his heart. He bursted out laughing as he dropped his blade and helped Jin off the floor.

“It seems you’ve proved me wrong,” Hoseok chuckled, patting Jin’s shoulder before moving to return the practice blade to its stand. “You’re training with me might truly be over now.”

“Don’t break my heart now, Hoba.” Jin teased, setting his own blade down above Hoseok’s, handing him some water. “I’m sure your other trainees have been able to get the jump on you before.”

Hoseok scoffed, looking over at Jin with raised bows, “How long have you been here Jin?”

“Five months, but I don’t see how…”

“How long do you think it takes my trainees to get the jump on me? Especially with my weapon of choice.” Hoseok challenged, taking a sip of his water as Jin crossed his arms over his chest.

“I don’t know. If they went through the same training as I did, maybe seven months.” Jin guessed, shrugging as he looked confusingly at him.

“Three years,” Hoseok answered, smiling as Jin gaped like a fish. “Don’t let it get to your head, Jin. The only reason you’ve been able to get there so fast, is because I’ve never once held back with you.”

Jin stared at him for a moment before glaring, “How the hell was that useful? No wonder I struggled so much in the first month! Why would you do that?”

Hoseok looks at him for a moment, before sighing. “Does that promise to keep secrets between us stand with what I’m about to tell you?”

Jin looks at him oddly as he nods, “If you trust me enough to tell me, I’ll keep your secrets.”

Hoseok smiles at the echoed words, before it drops from his face. “I had a purpose in my training with you, ever since I learned that you were Jang-ssi’s son. It seems hypocritical of me to accuse you of having a death wish, when I do.”

Jin’s eyes widen and his arms drop to his sides as Hoseok turns away from him.

“I’m just as guilty for Jang-ssi’s death as Namjoon is, the day they left for that meeting I should have gone with them. It seemed suspicious to me that they only asked for Namjoon and Jang-ssi, but I didn’t press when my brother told me to stay behind.” Hoseok says quietly, staring up at the wall of katanas that hung across the wood panels. “It never should have been Jang-ssi to jump in front of a bullet for my brother, it should have been me. That’s my job, that’s my role in the Bulletproof Company. To be the shield in front of my little brother.”

Jin’s footsteps came behind him and he slowly placed his arms around Hoseok from behind, “You couldn’t have known what would happen that day.” He whispered against the back of Hoseok’s head.

“No, but I should’ve been there,” Hoseok whispers hoarsely, placing both of his hands onto Jin’s arm around his shoulders. “You don’t know Namjoon like I do Jin, you don’t know what he’s been through under our father. I made a promise to myself to stand next to him, to protect him from everyone and I failed.”

“He would have been more broken if it had been you who died for him,” Jin countered, squeezing him tightly. “I can be angry at that man and know that he needs you in his life. You don’t see how he watches for your approval of things. Yoongi is his hyung and his Second, but you’re his big brother. He wants to protect you as much as you want to protect him.”

Hoseok hung his head as Jin’s words pierced through his heart, “I trained you to be the only person in the world that I’d face and not be able to come out the other end. If we ever met as enemies, Jin, that would be the day I die.”

Jin huffed as he laid his head down against the side of Hoseok’s neck, “Don’t piss me off then, I’ll give you real hell Hoba.”

Hoseok chuckled wetly, squeezing his hands on Jin’s arm. “I’ll try not to, but you have a short fuse. It probably won’t take much to put me in the ground after I steal your gun oil.”

“That stuff is fucking expensive,” Jin huffed, his breath tickling the back of Hoseok’s neck. “It’s criminal that they sell it for that much! It’s not like it's liquid gold!”

Hoseok laughed as Jin continued to vent about the prices of the underground market, shuffling in the man’s arms as they walked out of the sparring room together.

Hi it’s me against 👋🏼 I hope you don’t mind me suggesting but maybe you can give us some romantic or mature scenes themes that happens in hwarang before the war for the smaller projects? I love the slow burn in it but it’s also killing me inside 😫 Heo deserves some love before all shit goes down! I will also love the teasing she might get if the captains heard or caught her in some action! (I’m also really hoping “stuff” happens in yuta’s part after seeing the description of jaehyun & Johnny parts).

there are definitely more tender scenes in the little bits i plan on writing! although, a majority of the romances don’t begin until after the war is already in progression. i have a few ideas for heo but i feel that if the reader already knows his motives it may make the part seem a bit ingenuous?

as of now i currently have no plans to add explicit content to yuta’s part— writing for both johnny and jaehyun is a task in and of itself haha
