“Technically it was Moony and Padfoot who adopted him.” 

“Mostly Moony,” Sirius says, as though he was there, and this was not the first he was hearing of Padfoot. If he has access to his dog form in this world, why can’t he feel it?

“He isn’t really a bear,” Remus insists. “He’s under a spell; I can feel it.” 

“But Dorcas couldn’t find anything?” Lily asks, clearly sceptical, while James simply sits back with a shit-eating grin and his most ridiculous pair of spectacles yet.

“Dorcas thought Sirius was an omen of death.”

“I don’t know any other witches who can do what I do,” Lily says, rather smugly. So she’s the one who holds that power. “And I can promise you, I haven’t turned any little boys into bears.”  

“Not recently, anyway,” James jokes.  

Remus glances over at Teddy, currently chewing on Harry’s arm while the boy laughs.

Chapter 9 of everywhere, everything by @lynxindisguise is up, so it's playlist time! I really tried to go for a certain dreamy vibe with this one because this chapter felt that way to me, but...that is not what happened. 🤷 I still think it's a vibe, though!!

This was the first song I decided I wanted to add when I heard about this chapter. Nature Boy fits this chapter in several ways. The emponymous nature boy could be construed as Teddy or Remus, but I really think the lyrics make the case for Sirius.

This is very Sirius wishing Remus could come and save him from himself and the choices he made that sent him on this journey. I also love the idea of the mirror being a magic mirror for this particular chapter.

This is one of two songs I used from from the Hut of the Mistold playlist that Lynx made. I thought it suited this chapter very well.

Comment: I've just decided to join the @hprecfest because I think it's a wonderful idea, and I tried to challenge myself to (mostly) go with fics I've not yet recced, and this one was easy! It is a fic I've loved since I first read it, it's incredibly magical and wonderful and the world it is set in is so unique. It's the perfect story to get completely immersed and lost in, and I absolutely adore the way it is told. I am still so in love with this fic's Dorlene, as well as Remus. And I love each and every one of lynx's Lilys, but this one especially. Highly recommend reading this if you haven't yet!!

hi karfy!! I genuinely tried to find if I’d answered this before bc I don’t really remember?? I know I’d been looking for something that sounded like a fairytale, and I think there was a title I had in mind that I was replicating with The ____ of the ______ format but I couldn’t tell you what it was.

altrnately: hags remus and marg remus wake up having swapped dimensions. just how chaotic is this shaking out?

lmfao can you IMAGINE marg remus wakes up and his teenage friends are now HIS MOTHERS??? this whole world is a mindfuck but WHAT IS THIS?? he has a very hard time taking them seriously. but it's also kind of sad because hags remus had the childhood that marg remus might've had with hope and sarah, except it's not hope and sarah, and this was very much not his childhood 😭

also I guess age-wise they would swap around the time that sirius and james are both at the hut? so that's a lot of fun. this world feels a lot less stressful. except for the fact that he's now pining all over again?? he assumes this sirius is still in love with him, but he's not 100% sure... CUE DAMPNESS.

Chapter Three: The Prince

By now, you might be asking yourself: if the hags and the wolf are our heroes, who are the villains?

The jealous uncle, perhaps? Scheming to eliminate the heir so that he may take the throne for himself? That would be easier to accept than the king himself, than a father with no love for his son.

Or is it the evil stepmother, resentful of her husband’s children? That’s certainly a more palatable narrative than our prince’s actual mother wanting him dead.

Well, at least the prince himself was every bit the duty-shirking, tradition-resistant rebel that a love interest should be... with a bit more bite.

i have never fallen in love so much with a fic before!!! i started it today and even though i have an incredibly busy schedule, i'm already on chapter 7!!!

i wanted to thank you for writing such an amazing work, and i want to let you know that i have and will recommend it to as many people as i can!!!

also, this fic is just so good it actually has me wanting to write an essay about it. i don't know if i will actually do it, i don't have much time and i am quite shy about my writing since english is not my first language, but if that would be okay with you, as soon as i find some time and finish the fic I could start it!! of course, i in no way want to disrespect you, so if you don't like this idea i obviously will not follow through

Chapter Six - The Phoenix

The stag cast his antlers towards the rainbow of multicoloured smoke in the distance.

“Don’t ask.”

He grunted. She wasn’t sure if it was meant in sympathy, frustration, or vindication. No matter—all were equally irritating.

Lily came closer, inspecting the state of him. He seemed well, despite his refusal to remain in the habitat she’d crafted for him. At least he hadn’t fled the island entirely, like his foolish, surely drowned friend.

“Get away from him!”  

She froze, gaping as the spectre of said drowned friend came charging down the beach—pale and a bit worse for wear, but decidedly alive and notably not a dog.

And then she noticed the young man behind him: a stretched, slashed, sharpened iteration of a boy from her memories.

“Remus?”

He gave an awkward wave. “Hi Lily.”

It was him, familiar enough to recognise and altered enough that he could not have been a product of her imagination. Once all ears and eyes and teeth, he was now all limbs and scars and hair. “You... you’re so... long.”

Remus laughed and looked down at himself, as though he’d forgotten. “You’re so... haggish.”
