We are still 36 hours out & he is already losing his voice.

This is definitely not the worst storm I've seen & for most Floridians, this isn't our first rodeo by any means, but wow, people are freaking out over this one. Yes, the rapid intensification is bad, but it has been really since Irma. It's not like we didn't know that the waters in the Gulf are like 90 Fahrenheit. This is an effect of climate change.

Prepare accordingly & follow the old adage: you hide from the wind, run from the water. If you are in a flood zone, evacuate now. The rest of you not in storm surge or flooding areas, just calm down & ride it out. If you are on the eastern side of the track (myself included), don't be shocked if there are some tornadoes or tornado warnings.

Be like me & just watch Twister during the hurricane! Also, make sure your extra battery packs are charged. Look for recipes now for Hurricanes just in case you lose wifi.

Also, for the non-Floridians, there will be people out doing stupid stuff. It's Florida. You shouldn't be surprised by this.

Made it thru Hurricane Idalia … house flooded, yes that sucks, and is not inhabitable at the moment and some damage outside. I’m out of harms way and the house is still standing so staying positive. I told Idalia she’s not welcome at my house ever again 🤣 Prayers to all the people hit worse and lost more than me further north 🙏🏻 I’m stressed out but I am grateful in a weird way, it could’ve been even worse.

The sky is loud and restless, the world is dark and charcoal grey. Hurricane Idalia approaches and already we can feel it.

We're going to be in hurricane prep then probably without power, so things may be a little quiet for a bit. Have a safe week, everyone!

All you have to do is pay attention to what they're doing. Currently there are 3 hurricane hunter planes flying around in the storm. These storms don't go through a "Rapid Intensification" process unless those planes are in it.

Don't let these lying fμ¢%s fool you. If you educate yourself to know your enemy and you pay attention to what the fake news tell you what they're doing, you WILL know.

Idalia is encroaching upon the gulf coast of Florida, where I live, so I made some sigils to help keep us protected (along with all the mundane work that goes with hurricane preparation!)

Expect lots of hurricane jokes the next couple days from me as FL begins to batten down the hatches for Idalia.

As a born Floridian, at this point, my biggest concerns are procuring my storm snacks & an appropriate amount of rum so I can make hurricanes during the hurricane.

For those concerned please see below. No panicking yet, but Jim Cantore is on his way to FL.

2:26 pm 8/29 Hurricane Idalia update: thank you to everyone that’s keeping Floridians in your thoughts and prayers and the comments for me personally. The news pictures seem scary already but right now for us up here in the cone “zone” it’s still not raining. We will start seeing it in the “Big Bend” area later tonight. 🙏🏻🤞 Hope all my Florida mutuals are battened down and out of harms way. I’ll be as inland as I can get. PLEASE leave your homes if you’re close to the coast, plus know what you should do if a tornado spawns off. My area is under mandatory evacuation. They say it’s going to be the worst hurricane to hit this area in 70 yrs. 149 people died in Hurricane Ian. Please don’t ride it out if they tell you to evacuate.

Everyone manifest or hope or pray or anything for me and my friends and family and their pets because a lot of us are here on the west coast of Florida where this hurricane is hitting really hard. Please stay safe and i wish everyone luck and safety and comfort in these times

8am, it's very loud & wet out there but the horses are actually grazing 🤣 so it can't be that bad (during higher winds, they pick the least windy part of the barn and stand there together)

The storm will get closer as it passes today, there will be some dangerous winds. I hope everybody is as safe as possible.

Warming seas supercharge existing tropical storms and have caused the Atlantic Basin hurricane season to start earlier and end later.

Rapid intensification has been happening more often than in the previous century.

No two storms are exactly alike – that's one factor which makes hurricane observation so interesting. While Hurricane Idalia was powerful, it was also compact. Its relatively modest footprint was good news for Floridians away from its direct path in terms of wind damage.
