Dindonette
Tumblr media
Derived from French dindon, meaning "turkey", combined with a diminutive suffix. Dindonette is the name of a fairy in the French fairy tale "A Fairy's Blunder". She casts a spell on an island's water fountain to make the old young again and the young older, but with disastrous consequences. She's wearing a pink and purplish dress. Her hair is pulled to the side. She has a matching chocker and earrings. She has a rose tiara on her head. Don't forget her meshes or she won't show correctly.

Şehzade Osman confusion
Just a quick history time where I sum up pages of one event into a few uneventful paragraphs, about this really weird Osman thing that came up in the show as it’s almost about to finally die. Sultan Ibrahim has a bastard son now, everybody. We came this far. Woo. Love the show. Bless. Cheers.
I thought they decided to twist the random boy story in their own show way as always, but actually, it turned out that the Osman idiocy has a source.
If you don’t know the random boy story, there is one that is really well-known about Ibrahim where his son Mehmet had a nurse, and that nurse had a son. Ibrahim loved that random son more than his own, Turhan got jealous, either sent both the nurse and the son away and forever, and/or decided to organise la scandal like in the show, which resulted in Ibrahim getting so mad he snatched little Mehmet from his mother’s arms and threw him in the fountain. The primary reason stays, it was because of that random boy. In the show though, we’ve got this ridiculous bastard situation that I’m not even going to go through because I hope you get the levels of absurdity already.
So, the Osman situation was a great hoax. Started with this Ottoman ship full of riches getting attacked by pirates. Confusing political drama aside, some woman with a kid suddenly claimed she’s a sultana and her child is Ibrahim’s son and a pretty solid Şehzade. Since the ship was full of sultan’s stuff anyways, it’s no wonder why the pirates thought it’s the real deal, plus let’s consider the fact that due to the private life lead in the harem, the world had no idea how things there actually were, and nobody knew that there was no way princes ever went anywhere at all beyond the palace. So, why did the woman even say that? Probably thought it will get her in an advantageous position, although little did she know that the more valuable the hostage is=the harder it is to save him, but oh well.
Obviously such big news attracted even the Pope himself, everybody loves gossip and some Turkish drama, everybody wanted the piece of that heir boy, and something weird began happening. The boy went from place to place, managed to become Catholic, which added more fuel to that sweet soap opera, everybody was ecstatic. Since at those times the distribution of information was that bad, they legit thought the mom of that Osman was Turhan herself, apparently. So they drew both her and her son and started spreading the drawings around the world, because drama.
I’m 100% sure you all have seen this drawing.
Tumblr media
That woman was Hurrem, Kosem, Turhan, anyone and everyone. That image is so shamelessly squeezed into everything with no double-checking this is actually beyond hilarious for me.
A drawing of a hoax mom.
All this time, that was a drawing of a hoax mom.
Anyways, finally, through all the war drama that was the outcome of that pirate raid where Ibrahim kept flipping over Venice and everyone’s ambassadors, the right people did manage to go through and actually check the facts.
It was actually admitted right at that time that the entire Catholic prince Osman story was nothing but a pirate fairytale and they all bought it.
The mcfreakin’ show bought it.
So here it is, the show based its bastard Osman plot off a real life event that was a proven hoax. The only real thing was the pirate raid. And Mehmet in the fountain, although who knows, even that might be debatable.
