this is kinda inspired by a fanfic i've been re-reading, i've found that its really hard to find good fix it fics that keep jess alive! or literally any supernatural media involving jess at all, this must change. even though she dies in the pilot she's such an important character.... anyway rant over, enjoy the art!!

Supernatural just. pisses me off so much because there is literally so! much! potential! in it!! You could rewrite the story in a thousand different ways by focusing on different storylines (and actually expanding them) and by exploring the boys’ relationships with different characters (romantically and platonically). There are so many powerful themes and messages that they could have explored! Their mythology is actually pretty interesting, because basically everything is real, so use it! Instead, they created a toxic co-dependent relationships between Sam and Dean, wasted nearly every storyline’s potential, and had that clusterfuck of an ending.
#supernatural#*screams* so! much! fucking! potential!!!!#i mean like storylines alone pretty much every single one should be expanded on#and then for relationships i mean its fricking endless#romantic sam ships could be jess madison ruby eileen#romantic dean ships could be cassie anna lisa bela castiel#and then platonically pretty much every character ever? i mean jo ellen bobby rufus ash pamela missouri claire cas wayward girls gabriel etc#plus their bio family with john and adam and mary and the campbells and the other hunters like??#why!! there was so much potential!! and they killed it like they killed every character on this god forsaken show#just. *screams*

ok clearly there's a lot of you forever stuck in supernatural hell because i've gotten MULTIPLE messages from people asking if me rewatching spn means i'm going to write fic lol
the answer is maybe, and only after i've beaten the next chapters of siat and wingbones into submission. also keep in mind i'm first and foremost a sam lover and s1-3 are my favorite - i like castiel just fine but his appearance coincided with some shifts in deans character that i didn't love and really started the brothers down the path of whatever the hell they've got going on in later seasons
BUT if i do fic then do you want (in no particular order):
1 - s1 sam gets transported to endverse and has to deal with this version of his brother that's ten years older and all this shit that he doesn't even know exists and endverse dean has to deal with sam at 22
2 - sam interrupts his dad's deal with azazel after the car accident and azazel asks for sam instead. sam agrees. john tells dean that sam died in the car accident and dean slowly loses his mind thinking that his brother is haunting him
3 - sam has his first vision at 18 on the bus to stanford. finds it literally impossible to leave the supernatural world and behind and starts tracking down hunters / things and discovers the world of the wider world of hunters that john hid from them. becomes a trusted psychic and occasional hunter for the hunting community while still going to school, tells jess the truth from the beginning because he's still in it, and is fully terrified that he's something his family would want to hunt and swears every hunter to secrecy about what he's doing. they all call him samantha and dean/john have no idea that the new psychic is a guy and sam.
edit: all of these have happy endings because i'm me

Back into the life.
Pairing: Sam Winchester x fem!hunter!reader
Summary: Escaping the hunter life and going to Stanford seemed pretty good until you showed back up into his life again, reeling him back in.
Content: mentions of y/n, Sam’s in Stanford, he used to have a crush on reader, reader is friends with the Winchesters, reader is kind of cocky, mentions of Jess, English is not my first language, pretty fast-paced, not proofread
A/N: few disclaimers here, I haven’t watched supernatural (yet) so Sam may be a bit ooc, I tried my best. There's no specific indication that Sam and the reader have any romantic relationships, you can interpret it however you want, but I definitely did not write this in means of breaking Sam up with Jess. Enjoy :)
Word count: 930
You were in some dive bar, waiting for your next hunt, when your phone buzzed. Dean's name flashed on the screen, and the second you answered, his voice came through, not even a "hello" first before he got straight to the point.
"I need your help."
Typical.
"Hello to you too, sunshine," you responded, leaning back in your chair, feet kicked up onto the table. "It's been—what? Three years? And this is the first thing I hear from you?"
"Cut the crap, y/n. It's Sam, I need him back." Dean said.
Your eyebrows shot up. "Why don't you go ask him yourself?"
"I did. Kid's stubborn. Won't leave that Stanford life of his, but I need him." his exhale came through the phone like he was one breath away from losing it.
There was a pause on your end. Because the thing is, you understood. You did. There was a time where you wanted to leave too—and have something different, a normal life. But hunting? The supernatural world? It never lets you go.
"You're the only one who can get him to listen." Dean's voice snapped you out of the thought.
"Uh-huh, and what makes you think that?" you let out a sound that was close to a scoff and a chuckle.
A beat of silence, and you could nearly hear the smirk on Dean's face through the phone. "Because, sweetheart, Sam's got it bad for you. Always did."
Oh, you knew alright. Sam had always been obvious. Big, doe-eyed stares when all of you were younger, awkward stammering when you caught him looking, and that whole puppy-dog vibe he never could shake. You’d flirt with him just to see him turn red. It was too easy. The boy had it bad, but then he went and ran off to college, leaving everything else behind.
"Please, that was kid's stuff. He's over it." you shrugged it off.
"He's not over it," Dean fired back. "Never was. So, I need you to... you know, use that to get him back."
You almost laughed out loud. "You want me to seduce Sam back into hunting? Seriously?"
"For crying out loud, y/n. And it's not seducing, it's gentle coaxing." Dean rolled his eyes, his tone sarcastic. "But whatever works, I guess."
Well, whatever works. You'd find out soon enough.
—————
The second you parked your car and stepped onto the campus, you could feel yourself being out of place. Students were laughing, lounging under trees, talking about midterms and parties.
Stanford was nice. Too nice.
You waited for the six-foot-four tree of a man that used to trip over his own feet whenever you smiled at him. And soon enough, Sam emerged from the lecture hall, backpack slung over his shoulder, hair a little longer, looking every bit the normal, happy college student. He hadn’t seen you yet. Oh, this was gonna be fun.
Before you could even call his name, Sam looked up. His entire body froze mid-step. The look on his face was priceless—equal parts shock and panic, with just a dash of "oh no, she’s here." He blinked, then blinked again, clearly trying to process that you, of all people, were standing in front of him.
"y/n? What—what are you doing here?" He stammered, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
You crossed your arms, that familiar cocky smile playing on your lips. “Oh, you know. Came to say hi, check in on you."
He fumbled with his backpack strap, eyes darting around like he was hoping this was some weird dream and he’d wake up soon. “Well, I've been doing well. Studying law."
"Law, huh?" your eyes glanced over to the backpack he was holding. "Sounds pretty boring for a guy who used to get his hands dirty killing vamps."
Sam's face fell, and you almost felt bad. Almost.
"Look," you said, getting to the point. "Dean needs you back."
His jaw clenched. "I told him no."
"Well, I'm telling you yes."
There was a pause as Sam looked at you, like he was trying to figure out if you were serious. "You're just like Dean, you know that?"
"Thank you."
"That wasn't a compliment."
You just smiled and shrugged, unfazed.
Sam sighed heavily. “y/n, I’ve got a life here. I’ve got—”
“A girlfriend, I know,” you cut in. “Dean mentioned her. Jessica, right?”
His eyes flickered.
“And she’s nice, I’m sure. Sweet. Normal. Everything you want.” you exhaled softly. “But let’s be real, Sam. You can’t outrun this life. It’s in your blood. You’re a hunter, always will be.”
Sam swallowed hard. He stared at you like he was still trying to wrap his head around why you'd come all this way to pull him back into a world he thought he left behind.
“I left for a reason,” he muttered, more to himself than to you.
"And I'm sure it's a good reason, Sam." your eyes softened at his words. "But sometimes, life drags you back."
"Dean needs you," you started.
"And I need you too."
Oh. That card.
Sam’s eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, he looked like a nervous teenager again, the way he always used to when you were around him.
Finally, he sighed, shoulders sagging in defeat. “Fine. I’ll come. But I’m doing it for Dean.”
“Uh-huh,” you raised your eyebrows, already spinning around to head to your car. “I know.”
As you walked away, Sam trailing behind you, you couldn’t help but grin. Dean had been right. And Sam?
Well… Sam never stood a chance against you.

outsider pov
time is fake. these are some outsider pov fics for @spnficrecfest. there's a lot of conceptual overlap here with my casefic reclist, since i'm such an enthusiast for law enforcement chasing the boys. any crossovers do NOT require familiarity with the crossed over material. all of these are gen.
in order of wordcount:
identity theft solutions by ivyfic, 1k
a guy gets a letter in the mail from a bank he doesn't have an account with about a credit card he's never used.
the glomourous life of john dillinger by dwarfankylosaur, 1k
henriksen and his partner have a bet. extraordinarily charming.
not long enough by gayeld, 1k
salmondean tell victor about the supernatural. in particular, meg.
the outsider by denihil, 1k
henriksen has some sympathy for sam.
breathe on, sister (they pass me by remix), 1k
henriksen puzzles over sam and dean saving people from a fire. i would read the fic it's a remix of as well, if i were you.
days without feathers by pyrebi, 1k
jess's mom sees sam on tv.
the mysterious cold oak murders by anonymous, 2k
buzzfeed unsolved does an episode on the events of all hell breaks loose part 1.
perseverance by grumkinsnark, 2k
henriksen interviews a series of season one characters in search of the winchesters.
paper weight by vaznetti, 3k
kathleen hudak, from the benders, pokes into the winchester case at henriksen's behest.
the death defying mystery of the brothers winchester by dyed_red, 5k
buzzfeed unsolved again, this time on our boys.
the angel killer by vikki, 5k
cas is caught by the cops, circa season five.
the henricksen files by ante down, 9k
technically abandoned, but it's more a series of codas and character studies than a story, so it being abandoned doesn't really matter. so old it was written before henriksen's name spelling was canonized. this fic is a series of henriksen-centric codas, following him as he follows the winchesters over the course of season two. it has some of my favorite henriksen characterization, actually.
no way out iii by kelincihutan, 21k, violence warning
criminal minds crossover. real feds meet fake feds, and problems ensue.
minimal loss (what a joke) by eden22, 26k
criminal minds crossover. the feds go into a hunter compound. they meet some hunter children, including ten year old sam and fourteen year old dean. they try not to cause another waco.
this fic is one of the ones that i revisit when i want to be reminded that fanfiction can be good. it's THAT good.
the right to remain silent by boundlight, 27k, chose not to warn
svu crossover. tfw are caught by the cops in new york. i lied, this one is destiel.
nothing to see here by innie, 30k
a canon divergence starting from in my time of dying. kathleen hudak chases the winchesters. a number of other things also happen. john makes a different deal.

All a Fantasy | Dean Winchester
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Hunter!FemReader
Request: Yes from Wattpad.
Synopsis: Reader is under a Djinn's power. Her fantasy life involves one of her best friends.
Warnings: None really. Mentions of supernatural beings. Maybe one swear word.
Word Count: 2,205
Main Masterlist
Y/N is cooking breakfast when Dean walks into the kitchen, the smell of bacon and coffee having woken him up from his deep slumber. He gives her a sweet kiss good morning before grabbing himself a mug and filling it with coffee.
Today both of them vowed to take the day off from their jobs. Their work schedules have been hectic over the last few weeks that they haven't had a day off together in three weeks. Dean, a mechanic working in his father's understaffed garage is picking up as many hours as he can without overworking himself and Y/N working as a journalist for the local newspaper, preferring writing over being on tv, found herself covering more than just her own column due to a nasty stomach bug going around the office.
"How'd you sleep?" Y/N asks her husband of 6 years. They started dating when she was 19 and he was 23 but they've known each other since she was five when Bobby Singer and his wife adopted her. Bobby is best friends with Dean's father John. Her and Dean's younger brother, Sam became instant best friends being the same age. Growing up she did have a little crush on Dean but it faded over time. It wasn't until he visited her and Sam in university one weekend that things changed for the two childhood friends. Dean didn't see her as the annoying little girl who is best friends with his baby brother. Instead he saw her as a beautiful young woman who knows what she wants and where she wants to be in life. He fell in love with her hard and fast. They got married three years after they started dating.
"So good. That massage worked amazingly. Best I've slept in weeks," he admits, sitting across from her at the kitchen island while she cooks the last few pieces of bacon. The night before she came home to a romantic dinner and a bubble bath. She repaid his romantic gesture with a back massage which led to something a lot more intimate. Dean isn't big on romance but it doesn't mean he doesn't try to make an effort to be romantic. He can be very romantic when he wants to be.
"I'm glad it worked," she smiles placing the last two strips of bacon onto a plate of food and places it in front of him before grabbing her own plate and sitting next to him.
As they eat they talk about what they should do for the day and agree to putting their phones on silent and going for a drive and seeing where the road will take them, making sure to be back in time for dinner with their parents. Tonight they plan to announce that they are expecting their first child. Sam, who was out of town for work, already knows about the pregnancy. Him and Jess, his wife, were there for lunch when Y/N got the call from her doctor confirming the pregnancy.
Once they finished breakfast, Dean cleaned up the dishes while Y/N got ready for their road trip. She was excited and happy to be spending the day with Dean, no interruptions, relaxing as they take a ride in Baby, the beloved Chevy Impala John gifted him when he graduated high school. Many memories have been made in that car with many more to be made.
When they were both ready, they lock up the house and get into the car, starting their drive out of town.
They'd been driving around for an hour when Dean pulls into the car park of what looks like an abandoned play area. The grass is slightly overgrown like if hasn't been mowed in months, maybe even a year or two. There's a slight chill in the air as they get out of the car and move to sit on the hood. Dean notices her shiver a little and wraps an arm around her shoulders, bringing her in closer to him.
It's quiet, far too quiet for her liking. The only sounds they hear is their own breathing. There are no sounds of birds chirping or any other sound you would hear while out in nature. Y/N finds it a little too eerie but feels perfectly safe in her husbands arms as he holds her close.
Until she hears her name whispered quiet enough to only just be able to hear it. She lifts her head to look around as if she is going to find someone else there. But no one is. She shrugs it off thinking she might've been hearing things.
"You wanna know the exact moment I knew I was in love with you?" Dean asks, bringing her attention back to him. She looks at him slightly confused. He has told her many times about that moment. He mentioned it in his wedding speech.
"Have you been lying about it this whole time," she jokes looking up at him.
"No," he smiles down at her and kisses her, sweetly. Both of them feeling like the luckiest people in the world.
The kiss starts to heat up when Y/N abruptly pulls away from him, hearing her name amongst the wind but it's louder this time and sounds like it's coming from behind her. She can feel the confusion and concern in Dean's gaze as she whips around to see where the voice came from.
"What's wrong?" He questions, his voice matching the look in his eyes.
"You didn't hear that?" She asked.
"Hear what?" Dean asks her.
"I swear someone just called my name," she tells him facing him again, but instead of looking at him, she's still looking around the open field looking for the source of her name being called. "You aren't trying to pull some trick on me, right?"
"I didn't hear anything and I swear I'm not pulling any tricks," he places his hands on her shoulders and pulls her closer trying to reassure her. He didn't know what was happening. "Maybe we should get out of here. It is a little creepy."
She nods agreeing with him and moves to get back into the impala when her name is called once again but this time it sounds from right behind her and it sounds a lot like Dean's voice. She quickly turns on her heel again hoping to catch whoever is there.
Shock fills her when she sees Dean but this Dean is different, aside from the different clothes he's wearing. She looks back to her Dean who doesn't seem shocked but angry and then moves her gaze back to the other Dean.
"Y/N, you need to wake up. None of it is real," the new Dean pleads with her, scaring and confusing her even more. Her eyes fill with tears as she feels as though she is going to faint. She feels as if she's delusional.
"No you don't," her husband Dean speaks up, glaring at the other Dean. "You can stay here, we can have our baby and live the life we both wish and dream of. The normal jobs, the kids, no monsters, not so much death and destruction. This is what you want. We can have it all, baby. Everything you wish for."
Her confused and terrified gaze lands on her husband. "What are you talking about?"
"It isn't real, Y/N." New Dean says again.
"But it can be," her Dean smiles, the look in his eyes loving and reassuring.
Something switches inside of her as if she's remembering a lot of forgotten memories. She sees Dean but it's the Dean who's trying to convince her none of this is real. It's them travelling with his father and his brother, hunting down things that are only written in lore books. She sees Bobby teaching her how to shoot a gun, how to draw a devils trap, and to speak Latin.
"What's happening?" She cries out looking between the two Deans.
"You need to wake up," Dean number two tells her. "It's killing you. The longer you stay there the more the Djinn is feeding off you."
"Djinn?" She says her voice barely above a whisper as images flash in her mind of her entering an abandoned building alone and being captured by something.
"You know you want to stay Y/N. This is after all what you dream about. This is what you want, what you crave. This is your happy ever after. Would you really give this up?" Dean number one questions.
"This isn't real," she replies quietly to herself. "This isn't what I want because it's not real. It's not real."
She closes her eyes hearing Dean call her name but she can't tell which one. Only a few seconds go by before her eyes shoot open and she's gasping for air.
"Hey, hey, hey, breathe," Dean's voice sounds from above her. It's then she notices she's in the real Dean's arms, his eyes are flooded with fright, concern and relief.
Y/N takes a few deep breaths, taking comfort in her closest friends arms. "Dean?"
"I'm here, sweetheart," he continues to reassure her.
"It wasn't real, none of it was real," she says through deep breaths, a part of her grieving for the life she could have if things had been different.
"I know," he continues to hold her and kisses the top of her head.
A loud screech came from another room making the both of them jump. Dean let's her go and stands up before helping her to stand. He takes her hand and they leave the room meeting Sam at the doorway, the younger of the brothers worried look turning to one of relief seeing his best friend alive with only a few bumps and bruises.
"Let's get out of here," the younger man says. Dean and Y/N agrees, nodding their heads and follow Sam out of the building and to the impala.
A few hours later, Y/N and the Winchesters are in a new town, hunkering down in a new hotel room. Sam is out getting food for them while Y/N and Dean are in the bathroom. She's sitting on the counter next to the sink, medical supplies and a bottle of Jack Daniels next to her. She winces as Dean presses a cotton ball dipped in alcohol to the small cut an inch or so above her eye, cleaning off the dried blood.
"Sorry," Dean apologises moving the now stained red cotton ball away from her skin to check the cut. He was glad to see it was shallow enough to not need actual stitches. He puts a dressing over it to keep it clean and prevent it from getting infected before moving on to the bruise that was forming on her left cheek.
"Are you okay?" He asks her noticing she's been awfully quiet since they left the warehouse where the Djinn kept its victims captive.
"Yeah," she nods. "Just remind me to never get caught by a Djinn again. Those assholes really know how to fuck with your head."
He nods his head in agreement, remembering his own encounter with a Djinn. "You want to talk about it?"
She takes a deep breath in and out before shaking her head. "I don't think there's anything to talk about. Hunters don't get to have a life with a marriage, kids and an actual home. They don't get to live their lives oblivious to the monsters in the dark. They don't get normal jobs with normal hours and normal wages. So why bother talking about it?"
"Hey," Dean said gently grasping her chin between his fingers making her look at him before wiping away her tears that she didn't realise were there. "If you really want all that, it's not too late to get out of this lifestyle."
"But it is," she disagrees with him. "I was trained in this lifestyle just as much as you were. I don't know anything other than how we live. And even if I could give this up. I know what's out there and I can't just sit by and let good and innocent people get killed by all those monsters we hunt. If saving people from the unknown means I have to give up my fantasy of us getting married, having our own family and a stable home with stable jobs and all that other apple pie life stuff, then I'll give it all up time and time again."
Dean looks at her with wide surprised eyes. "Your fantasy is us, you and I," his finger points at her before he points it at himself, "getting married and having a family?"
Her eyes go equally as wide and surprised as his when she realises what she said. "I didn't mean us. I meant... I-"
Dean's lips crashing to hers cuts off her rambling and any thought she was trying to come up with. It didn't take long for her to kiss back, her brain registering that this is actually happening.
After what feels like minutes but was only seconds, Dean pulls away but keeps his face close to hers, his lips barely brushing her lips.
"That's my fantasy too," he admits before kissing her again.

Dating Sam Winchester headcanons.
Requested: I was wondering if you could write something supernatural with Sam Winchester, what kind of boyfriend would Sam be? Thank you anon, made that as expanded headcanons starting from meeting and going further in the relationship.
A little NSFW in point 16.
***
1.Bookshops dates
I mean come on, all things considered I am pretty sure you would meet him in the library rather than any place else. And even if you weren’t actually reaching for mythological monsters encyclopaedia or the yearbook of the city from 1456, you were bound to meet at the counter. It wasn’t that big bookshop after all and Sam, with his tall, muscular silhouette was definitely filling most of the space, forcing you to sneak under his arm to get what you were aiming for. Not that you complained, cause he does smell good.
2. Soul longing – as silly as that may sound. Ok listen up. He had women, that’s for sure. But one night stands is only good for so long. And unlike Dean he needed stability from the beginning. Sam is not a player nor a playboy. And as for you? You’re not just gonna jump into the bed of a very handsome, tall and broad shouldered man you met briefly while buying a book, right?
Even if you can imagine so many things he could do with those hands….
Even if you can tell just by looking at him that he’s got enough experience and skills to keep you up all night and –
“Miss? Miss are you all right?”
Damn, seem like you just spaced out in front of the guy who’s been currently eyeing you with those deep eyes piercing right into your soul.
Impossible to forget and even more impossible to let go.
3. Cliché scenario – you actually became a part of team free will after getting into a demon related accident serving the part of a lady in distress perfectly. Got hurt so bad the boys Sam felt guilty enough to look for you for a couple weeks while getting too attached.
4. Obviously wanting to keep you out of the family business. Too bad he got himself a persistent badass, who refused to sit cases out. You may not be a hunter, but you’re a girl. And who’s better than a woman when it comes to making scenes and getting man to mansplain to the poor, innocent soul that knows nothing? The first time you faked cried he fell for it all the way and never questioned your skills again.
5. Probably making you get an anti-possession tattoo. Just for safety, of course. And holding your hand all time while getting it done, caressing your palm in that special reassuring way. And then kissing it better after, regardless of the place it was inked on.
6. Funny thing he was hesitant to put a tag on your relationship. At first. Can’t blame him given all that happened to his mother and Jess. But his emotional side finally took over and he blurted something in the middle of an argument.
“You’re staying here tonight.”
“The hell I am, Sam.”
“I’m not asking.”
‘You’re not my boss.”
“Well I am your boyfriend!”
“Did you just-? Sam? Sam, did you just - ?”
You never got to finish that sentence. And just that one time you stayed behind.
Behind being on the backseat, no further.
7. Bantering over silly stuff while making Dean crazy, cause since you two got together there’s no one to bring him pie.
8. Knowledge duels – as long as you pick the theme, cause no way you’re going against him in history or demonology. It is however possible to beat him in popculture or modern cinematography.
“How am I supposed to know all those –“
“Educate yourself Sammy.”
“Oh I will educate you on something –“
9. Merciless teasing from Dean about stuff that should not ever be his business.
“Hey, whose underwear is that?”
“Brought you two some protection.”
“Hey maybe we can get a threesome?”
“Is that a hickey on your neck Y/N? God, girl, you are loud.”
(but we all know that’s the way Dean’s inner soft side is showing)
10. Doing research while laying head on his chest, tracing patterns on his skin. (making him distracted and locked up in another room until you start to behave.)
11. Doing research in the various libraries. You have no idea but he raises his gaze from the book way too often to actually comprehend any of the text. The way you are frowning, scrunching your nose and the way your eyes shine every time you come upon a clue or a helpful fact seem to be more interesting.
12. Fights – oh, damn, it was bound to happen right?
Arguing with Sam is impossible. He always keeps his cool, not letting the blood boil no matter how many needles you gives him. Sometimes it feels like he’s wearing that stupid armour turning into stone just to infuriate you.
But not for long, cause Sammy can’t stand to see you hurt or broken. That’s not him. It doesn’t matter if you started the fight (you’re being reckless, you’re gonna get killed, you need some rest) or he was the part to initiate it (you’re not the hunter, I know better, I’ll handle it) he’ll be all up for communication. Talking through.
Being a Winchester comes with toughness and roughness sometimes, but Sam doesn’t deny having feelings he want to work on. With you.
It’s not a perfect relationship but you’re patching it up with all the best and most resistant fabric.
13. Subtle hand holding while driving on a hunt. You may be in the backseat while both brothers take the front ones, but who cares. The blank between the driver and shotgun is for something, right? And who cares about the gearbox?
14. Forehead kisses and cuddling – you have actually seen Sam right? If that’s not a giant teddy bear than I don’t know who is. Definition of safety and warmth. Just imagine nuzzling into him with those strong arms around you keeping you safe from any demon, angel, witch, wendigo, shapeshifter or whatever else monster might come for you.
15. Steamy make out session in the impala just to get some privacy. Honestly I believe at some point this would be used as a threat for alone time.
"Get out Dean.”
“ Mmm. Nope. Not happening. I got stuff to do here.”
“I said get out.”
“Make me.”
“Well I think you should go and check on your car before I take care of the backseat.”
Wide eyes, rushing out and not getting back for hours.
Mission completed.
16. Getting intimate with Sam is indescribable. You don’t even need words and yet he seems to understand everything your body tries to convey. Soft, slow, sensual and tender love making while looking into your eyes, refusing to let your gaze drop? Tracing your body and kissing all over your soft skin? Making you feel fragile, small and delicate no matter your size?
All done.
I see Sam as a soft dom. He could break your boundaries easily and probably would, but never to the point of hurting you.
Rough play, BDSM, kinks, making love on any flat surface possible? Not exactly his style.
Stretching you out, wrapping your legs around his waist, pressing you into the mattress, marking you? Absolutely.
He’s fine with pleasuring you, getting to know what turns you on (hitting and finding all the sensitive spots that makes you mewl and rake nails down his body), never failing to make you see stars.
He may not be talking too much and not use a lot of dirty talk, but hey, a few thrusts, a few flicks of his tongue, his muscles flexing under your fingersand the feel of him so freaking deep and you forget something such as words exist.
17. Getting just the right amount of aftercare cuddles, kisses and hugs. Duties are calling and Sam may be a bit of a workaholic, but you’re on top of the “to-do-list.” Taking just the right amount of time to help you get back to reality, getting your floating soul back into your thoroughly loved out body by caresses, kisses, touches, strokes. Whatever you need.
He loves you.

Sam judging dean for *checks notes* mutually flirting with women at a bar that are clearly into him and for *checks notes again* lying abt what they both do for a living to said women (bc casually telling random ppl you’re supernatural hunters is totally the logical thing to do) (also, rich coming from Sam who neglected to tell Jess, the woman he was going to propose to, after dating for over a year!!) but then, Sam admits to taking an art history course specifically because it’s a good place to meet women, not for any genuine interest in art like ok! Guess it’s fine to play pretend when it’s a college thing bc ooooh intellectual, but pretending to be something else for one (1) night (where neither person involved has any expectation of seeing each other again) is apparently worthy of judgement

SPN headcanon thing?
None of it was real. Sam survived the fire that killed his mom, but John went back inside for Mary and died. Dean became a "bad kid" in the foster system, so he and Sam were sperated. Dean landed himself in jails and prisons all the time, loosing all contact with Sam. Sam got adopted by a nice family who raised him best they could. They sent him off to college where he originally enrolled for a law degree. But upon meeting his girlfriend Jess she convinced him to follow his passion for writing instead. He wrote many successful articles and short stories but his publisher soon wanted a book series. Sam decided on his book series after a terrifying nightmare about his now wife Jess dying horrifically and a horrible demon being the culprit. He writes, "Supernatural, A Winchester Tale" a series where his life takes an alternative route. His father is alive and a demon hunter, his brother is his best friend. Jess dies by a demon and Sam swears revenge. The first book alone in ground breaking, and soon the complete "Winchester Tales" total 10 books, a TV series, a spin off book series "Angle of Heaven" based on Castiel totalling 4 books, and another spin off series "Farher of Darkness" Surrounding Lucifer set to come out soon.

I feel like you’re one of the few people I’d trust to ask this of, but I always find myself wondering at the different reactions Dean has to hunting, i.e: Sam and others. Like I don’t think at all that he forced Sam back or was dragging him around or anything like that. But even way back then with Jo he was always like “get away from this life”. And still, especially early on, he seemed to be offended/angry that Sam didn’t like the life/want it for himself. I always personally understood it as a mix of sibling bickering like “ohh you think you’re so much better”, a front so as to pretend “hey everything is fine don’t look too closely” and Sam himself kinda conflating hunting = family and thus had to cut both out to be free of it, so in turn Dean also associated Sam walking away from hunting as walking away from family (reinforced by Heaven and Purgatory, later on, in slightly different ways) (although which came first and/or how much that was influenced by John first is ultimately a chicken and egg situation, I suppose). But I’d like to know if you have thoughts on this? Sorry for the long ask, I hope it was coherent?
NOTE: For anyone looking for commentary on Dean absolutely not forcing Sam back into hunting, my tags #sam the hunter, #sam the family man, and #in which... I am too lazy to write all that out may be of use.
So if I understand correctly, what we're getting at here is that Dean pretty consistently tries to talk people (especially younger people) out of the life or objects to involving them. For example, Jo (2.06), Adam (4.19), Jimmy (4.20), Krissy and her dad (7.11), Krissy's friends (8.18), Claire (10.20). He tries to protect Jesse and Cesar's retirement. But when it comes to Sam, Dean isn't so into trying to talk him out of the life.
To discuss the premise itself first, I can think of the following instances where Dean is hurt, skeptical, or displays some other sort of objection to Sam vs normal life: 1.01, 1.16, 4.22, 5.16, 8.01 (Pine's rewatch notes help me out here too). On the other hand, I can also think of many moments where Dean is supportive of Sam having a normal life or wishes that for him. Starting from 1.06 and 1.18, Dean says that he wishes Sam could just be normal. By 1.07, Dean is suggesting they just stay in the college town representing Sam's wistful desire for normality. I have a compilation gifset of these and a few other season 1 moments here. In 2.20, Dean beams with happiness that Sam is living a normal life and has Jess by his side—this is also despite the fact that he and Sam are estranged in the Djinn dream universe. In season 8, while Dean is hurt and angry that Sam left him to die and abandoned Kevin, when the opportunity presents itself for Sam to get back together with Amelia in 8.10 and go be normal, Dean tells Sam he should go to her if that's what would make him happy. In 8.14, Dean says he wants to do The Trials so that Sam can survive and go be normal. Basically what I'm getting at is that while moments occur where Dean seems hurt by Sam wanting a normal life or has some other objection, there are more moments where the exact opposite is true. This contrast also opens the door for questions about why Dean sometimes reacts negatively and sometimes doesn't (or maybe has to "come around" to the idea). The mixed bag suggests a lot of different and sometimes conflicting emotions, which is very realistic I think.
I don't think every single one of these reasons factors into every single one of the five episodes I mentioned where Dean seems hurt/skeptical about Sam + normal life, but here we go:
First, while Dean tries to push a lot of people out of the life and is also shown to crave a normal life for himself at various points (ex: 2.20, 3.10, 5.17), he does believe that being involved with the supernatural world is physically unavoidable for some people, and that it psychologically gets its hooks into others to the point they eventually can't get out/turn back (ex: 4.19). Jack, Jesse, and Kevin (and Sam and Dean themselves eventually) are examples of people Sam and Dean see as stuck in the life practically, because demons and angels are after them for reasons out of all of their control. However, Sam and Dean were both psychologically stuck in hunting first. For Dean, the house fire and how he was raised leave him feeling stuck in the hunting world. Sam doesn't remember the fire, but follows on John's heels when Jess dies in the same manner that Mary did. The trauma of losing Jess creates a commonality and drive that wasn't present before, causing Sam to say that he and his father aren't different anymore—in fact, they have more in common than just about anyone (1.20). On many occasions, Sam also talks about hunting as an inevitability/something he can't "come back" from at this point even if he wanted to (ex: 2.10, 4.19, 4.21). Closely interrelated, at various points, Sam also says that hunting has become a life he loves and/or prefers to normality (ex: 2.02, 2.20, 4.08, 4.17, 5.12a, 5.12b, 5.12c, 10.18).
Dean's language in 1.01 "Sooner or later, you're going to have to face up to who you really are" suggests part of Dean sees Sam as a hunter at the core from the beginning who is hiding from who he really is deep down. I think there is some truth to this (see my #sam the hunter tag). In that scene in 1.01, Dean generally expresses skepticism that Sam is really capable of leading the life he's trying to live long term. I think Dean also has reason to think that way, given that Sam outright admits he plans to lie to Jess forever... which kind of means Sam stays in the hunter mindset (where you lie to normal people every day to keep up appearances) and never really gets to be himself either way. Dean doesn't think this is practical or healthy and says so (and he's not wrong). All this to say—I think in 1.01, Dean has difficulty understanding that Sam has not (quite yet) fallen into the hunting world. Dean and John are kind of bonded by the shared trauma of losing Mary, but Sam doesn't share that trauma (as Sam himself points out on the bridge, saying he doesn't even remember Mary). Of course, that changes by the end of the episode. 8.01, Dean is just "?!?!?!?!?" because Sam has told Dean point blank on multiple occasions at that point that he prefers hunting to being normal (2.20, 4.08, 5.12) and has been overall rather into hunting, and has voiced the same thinking as Dean in regards to not being able to get out psychologically even if he wanted to (4.19, 5.12). There's a reason that when Sam says he doesn't hunt anymore in 8.01, Dean thinks he's joking at first. (I talk about why Sam left hunting between seasons 7 and 8 here). The thing is is that (unless driven by a burning desire for revenge as in the season 3-4 gap and the season 9-10 gap) Sam will not hunt without Dean. Not because Dean "makes" him hunt, but because Sam doesn't have the heart for the work without Dean by his side. (See the "I can't do it without my brother" 10.18 speech).
SAM: You know, when Dean came to get me at school, I-I told myself… one last job, you know? One more job. And then when – when I, um…. When I lost Jess, I, again, told myself one more job. There’s always one more job, you know? And one more job, and one more job, and then I was gonna go back to law and – and to my life. CHARLIE: You were the Dread Pirate Roberts of hunting. SAM: Yeah. I guess I really understand now that….this is my life. I love it. But I can’t do it without my brother. I don’t want to do it without my brother. And if he’s gone, then I don’t….
Interrelated to the concept of hunting as inescapable and as something Sam voices his enjoyment of multiple times—in 1.01, Dean also (though part bravado) still romanticizes hunting to an extent (though not for much longer—we see this by the time he meets Jo). This definitely factors into how Dean approaches the subject in 1.01, though I don't think it factors into later moments.
Second, Dean is the heart character, and as the heart character, he feels a responsibility to protect people. When he tells Sam in the pilot "You have a responsibility", I think what Dean means is "saving people, hunting things, the family business". It isn't revenge that they have a responsibility toward (Dean will be the one to say he hopes they never find the demon if it means Sam or John killing themselves to end it (1.22) but that from Dean's perspective, Dean's knowledge of what's out there and his proficiency at the job gives him a moral obligation to try and save people in harms way. On the other hand, I don't think Sam feels this way—at least not nearly so strongly. Sam's approach to hunting has always been more family focused imo. Both brothers hunt as a means of coping to an extent, but more largely, Dean hunts because he feels deeply for others and wants—and even feels a duty to—protect people. Sam hunts because hunting makes him feel close to his family and makes him feel known, and because it is where he feels he can be himself (ex: 4.17). More succinctly—for Dean, the order goes, "Saving people, hunting things, the family business" and for Sam, the order goes, "The family business, saving people, hunting things" I think. This difference in motivations occasionally creates interesting tension on the hunt, but it is also creates confusion when Sam has left hunting pre-series, and again in season 8.
SAM: Look, it wasn't like I was... just oblivious. I mean, I read the paper every day. I saw the weird stories… the kind of stuff we used to chase. DEAN: And you said what? "Not my problem"? SAM: Yes. And you know what? The world went on.
8.01 "We Need To Talk About Kevin"
Dean doesn't understand this. He can't wrap his head around it because Dean doesn't think this way, and I'm not sure Dean ever gets exactly why Sam is driven to hunt. He doesn't really get the strength of the family connection for Sam... and Dean has reason not to, because from the outside looking in, Sam cutting Dean out of his life every time he decides he doesn't want to hunt anymore sounds like he doesn't actually care about Dean that much deep down... or at all. So how on earth could Sam's interest in and love for hunting be connected to caring about his brother DEAN???
That brings me to the third reason for some of this occasional hurt from Dean, which is that you're right about Sam (and then Dean in turn) associating normal life with cutting Dean off, because that's what Sam does. Any time Sam goes after a normal life, there seems to be no room for contact with Dean in it. When Sam goes to school, even though his fight was with John, it's implied that he wouldn't take Dean's calls which is why Dean showed up in person (1.01).
NOTE: This period is a little tricky, because the script was supposed to say they hadn't spoken since Sam left at 18, but what accidentally made it into the show is that they may have been in contact for the first two years. The two years wouldn't make things much better though, because with Dean's dialogue "You know, in almost two years I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." It still seems like Sam is the one who cut ties.
In 1.16 "Shadow", when Dean brings up wanting to stay together and "be a family again" even after the business with the demon is concluded, Sam makes it clear he's returning to school—which is perfectly fine. However, buried within this conversation is the implication that Dean doesn't want to lose contact with Sam again, and Sam doesn't give any assurances about calling or staying in contact because... he plans to cut Dean off again, even while telling Dean he loves him.
"Dean, we are a family. I’d do anything for you. But things will never be the way they were before. [...] I don’t want them to be. I'm not gonna live this life forever. Dean, when this is all over, you’re gonna have to let me go my own way."
Dean looks at this and goes "?????" because how can Sam talk about how much he cares for Dean and then in the same breath, essentially say he doesn't want to see him anymore after this? That makes no sense... right? And the self-hating part of Dean who believes Meg's manipulative framing in 1.16 about him dragging Sam everywhere even though Sam has repeatedly been the race horse raring for revenge and getting angry when Dean can't pull leads on John or the demon out of his ass thinks maybe he IS somehow responsible for every horrible thing that has happened to Sam and how Sam's life is now. And Dean's insecurities are reinforced too because Sam has thrown it in his face that it's his fault in moments where he was angry and felt a loss of control. So Dean doesn't understand how hunting is actually positively connected to family and him for Sam, and Sam doesn't understand how Dean doesn't understand and doesn't know how to reassure him (5.16), and that's how we get Dean unloading his insecurities about Sam not loving him in 4.22 (to Bobby) and 5.16 (to Sam). In both discussions, Dean's lack of belief in Sam's care for him is closely connected to Sam's desire for normality and how Dean felt tossed away like garbage and like his efforts were never enough. I talk about the dialogue in 4.22 more in depth here (added context of Sam calling Dean weak for his trauma and strangling Dean near unconscious matters lmao). In 5.16, Zachariah (imo) repeatedly pushes the brothers toward Sam's memories of normality and being away from Dean as part of his psychological ploy, and it works even though Sam's strongly stated lack of interest in normality is (arguably) at its zenith (4.08, 4.19, 5.12) because the brothers relationship is so weak from season 4. If we didn't already get it, we as viewers realize Sam loves his brother very much and has many happy memories with him despite appearances in 5.22 when happy memories with Dean are what pulls Sam from Lucifer's control.
Another important episode here in regards to Dean’s perceptions of Sam's feelings versus how Sam actually sees Dean is 2.20 "What Is And What Should Never Be". There's a variety of things to be said about how in Dean's dream, he envisions himself as someone his family would look down upon even in a paradise scenario. However, one of the bits we get from the whole dream is that Dean believes that in normal life scenario, Sam wouldn't want to be around him. Dean envisions himself as kind of a terrible person (and as usual, he is being really ugly about himself in a way that isn't at all warranted), but undoubtably, there's also a classist stench to the scenario—Dean the blue collar worker, Sam the hot shot lawyer who looks down his nose at Dean. I don't doubt that deep down, Dean kind of believes the real Sam sees himself as upwardly mobile and Dean as beneath him. One of the ways Dean potentially forms that conclusion is how Sam treats him over money early in the series. That said, the REAL Sam is surprised by their lack of connection in Dean's "paradise". When Dean suggests that without hunting, they never would have connected, Sam makes it clear that he's glad they have.
But yeah! Those scenes in 4.22 and 5.16 aren't even about Sam wanting to be normal—they're about how Dean feels discarded every time Sam goes after normal (and it happens again in 8.01).
Lastly, Dean's also dealing with jealousy in a couple of these moments. Before we ever met him, Dean had his own wistful desires for normal (9.07, 1.06, 1.13). Safety and a home and normality were things he felt he couldn't ever really have (this also comes post-breakup with Cassie). Even in 8.10, when Dean tells Sam to get back with Amelia if he can, he adds,
And, you know, maybe I'm a little bit jealous. I could never separate myself from the job like you could.
I think this line leads directly back to Dean as the heart character who has extreme difficulty with the concept of burying his head in the sand—something Sam was able to do easily (like... too easily RE: Kevin). I think Dean kind of judges Sam for doing that, but at the same time, Dean also knows he has an overactive sense of responsibility—he just can't shake it despite knowing that (2.20, 5.11, 7.04). So he envies that Sam can even if he thinks Sam leans too far the other direction sometimes.
I also don't think this bit from Shifter!Dean in 1.06 was too off:
You got to go to college. He had to stay home. I mean, I had to stay home. With Dad. You don’t think I had dreams of my own? But Dad needed me. Where the hell were you? [...] See, deep down, I’m just jealous. You got friends. You could have a life. Me? I know I’m a freak. And sooner or later, everybody’s gonna leave me.
I think coupled with that jealousy in 1.01, we also see Dean's resentment, because he sacrificed everything for their family. He sacrificed his childhood to take care of his father who was a mess, and play mother and father to his brother, and he had a gun in his hand meant to kill before he was even 10, and Dean resents all of this. Dean was made to be the responsible one when he was just a child out of necessity, and John (someone Dean repeatedly calls a deadbeat in season 5) took advantage and then discarded him (a part of Dean does know he deserves better), and Sam cut Dean out of his life the moment he was no longer of use. It isn't just that Sam doesn't feel the weight of the burdens Dean was made to shoulder—Sam doesn't even seem to realize they exist, and Dean is resentful. He wants someone in his family besides him to shoulder some of the family responsibilities Dean has spent so long carrying alone. His feelings are misdirected toward Sam in 1.01 in that regard, but they're also very human.
Even so, Dean's love supersedes jealousy and resentment. We see this clearly in 1.18 "Something Wicked", which is all about Dean's childhood being stolen and him being burdened with responsibilities that were too big and blamed for people dying when he was just a child and it wasn't his fault, but at the end of the episode, Dean doesn't wish innocence for himself—he wishes it for Sam. Even though the episode is all about Dean's memory of his own trauma. And in 2.20, in his "paradise" dream, Sam gets to be normal, and he and Sam don't even get along, and Dean doesn't care—he's just over the moon that his brother gets to live a normal life.

Best lovers- Oops, friends.
Sam is my boy of the month, and wow what a man!
Synopsis: Sam and Letty have been best friends since college, after a while they meet again at Bobby's house. But this time something strange is happening.
Warnings: English is not my first language, Possible mention of blood, mentions of pain and hallucinations.
In college, I remember being great friends with Sam, and we were glued to each other everywhere. Like conjoined, or Siamese, siblings. We both had crazy families who hunted peculiar things, with brothers devoted to their parents, and a dream of escaping that life. We were roommates, two Nerds, he graduated in law and I graduated in psychology, we were going to escape from that family curse that we carried. Together.
So when Jessica showed up, Sam left to live with her, which wasn't really a problem since he didn't ignore me. Whatever happened, he was scared that Jessica would find out about hunting, about his family, about his mother. The memory was vivid, me sitting on the cafeteria bench with some friends while he laughed with Jess on a bench far away, pretending to be someone he wasn't. He always wanted me if it was hurt or jealousy.
Anyway, the day I heard a knock on the door and saw him standing there and sad, with that puppy dog look, and he hugged me tightly crying over his girlfriend's death, I knew that everything was lost, that he was lost and I didn't He was going to rest until he found the thing that killed his mother and his girlfriend. That was the last day I saw him.
Looking out the window of a truck that reeked of booze, I let my mind wander through the good memories I had at the college I dropped out of. Traveling the world and hunting supernatural things runs in the family. I chuckled as I remembered Sam. Even though a few years have passed, the longing for him never went away.
— So, how are your parents doing? — Bobby who was in my direction, questions, an old friend of my mother who has been a nanny on many occasions. — You know, after death, your sister.
— They are doing well, sad, but recovering. — I gave a robotic answer.
— Sad, but well, what a beautiful way to describe grief. – He murmured. — And how do you feel?
I looked at him smiling and responding:
— I feel good, strangely, it's as if she were still alive. Only far away, like she always was.
— She was a great hunter. You remove it from her. -Bobby laughed. — I remember that she played hunting vampires while you pretended to be a victim of the situation, when you weren't kissing the teddy bears saying that you had fallen in love.
— I've always been very soft-hearted and you know that. — I poked him. — She was really great, but unfortunately not even a great hunter can resist a shot.
Bobby agreed, shaking his head.
— You two have always been like two daughters that I never had, I have to say that having four children that are not yours is very difficult. — He laughed sarcastically. — I had to see her face when you left home to study psychology. She screamed, cried, I think she was afraid of being alone or jealous that you were brave enough to leave the hunt.
Four? I felt a pang of jealousy, who were these two other girls that Bobby considered his daughters?
— That's just like her. — I gave a painful laugh. —But I got back on track. Let the spirits and werewolves prepare! — I screamed.
We both laughed. I wanted to honor my sister, continue the family thing, and with the help of Bobby who was like family.
— I hope you don't mind. — He said as he parked in front of his house, which must have been a mess. — I have two other people accommodated, hunters too. Try to be kind, they are going through a difficult situation.
—What kind of difficult situation? — I got my backpacks. — Being in this house is already a difficult situation, how long has it been since you cleaned?
—Watch how you talk, young lady. — He took the backpack from my hands. — One of them kind of sold his soul to save the other's life, they're looking for a way to reverse it, and I swear I'm going crazy with them.
— That sounds interesting. — I turned the handle with more force than necessary, as it was super dirty and rusty.
I entered the house where I spent many good times with my sister, messy as always, but at least it wasn't smelly.
— I'm going to clean this place up. — I commented. —And where are the two visitors?
— They must have left, anyway, feel free to clean up, just don't touch the magazines under my bed.
I frowned, it was disgusting to think that he saw naked women.
— How disgusting! — I let out a shrill laugh. — If I'm going to spend time here, I better organize some things.
I settled in one of Bobby's forgotten rooms that were full of boxes and rubble, lucky for me that I had gotten there early. It took me a whole morning and most of the afternoon with Bobby to tidy up the room and get the dust out of that house. Cleaning the disgusting bathroom that was full of hair in the drain and expensive hair products.
At the end of the day, I was sitting on the couch painting my nails while Bobby watched the football game to hide his concern.
— What do you think of a pizza?
— I think it would be a good idea, my boys will be home soon and hungry. — He took a sip of beer.
— Your boys? — She said intrigued. — Don't tell me you hired…
-No! Obviously not! — He was so stressed that, if he wanted, he took the trouble to make a joke. — Order two, please.
I got up from the couch, leaving the red nail polish on the coffee table and picked up the phone, dialed the number of the pizzeria and walked around the house while ordering a cheese pizza and another Margherita. Being in the hallway, I heard voices coming from the room. For some reason, my heart seemed to be beating faster at one of the familiar voices.
I walked into the living room again, looking at my toenails, which were super smudged red.
— The pizza is about to arrive and I don't drink beer, so I'll buy some juice… — I looked up.
A man in a leather jacket was sitting on the couch messing with my nail polish.
-Goodnight. — He said gently. — You must be one of Bobby's boys. — I tried to say that without laughing.
The man raised his green eyes to see me and smiled, putting down his nail polish.
-Goodnight. — He gave a sideways smile. — Look, when you say it like that, it sounds weird, but what about you? Is that his girlfriend? I didn't know he was into that attitude.
I laughed and sat down next to him.
-No! — She said a little offended, but with a smile on her face. - Bobby is like a father to me, I'm just spending time here.
— Well, there are two of us, yes. — He got a little closer. — I'm Dean and wow, how lucky am I…
I turned my face away, choked on my words when I saw Sam there, standing there with a beer in his hand.
—Sam? — I got up.
—Letty! — He said excitedly. — But what… Are you and Bobby?
-No! — Bobby responded quickly, then taking a deep breath. — She is the daughter of some friends of mine, practically the same as you. Where do you two know each other from?
-Faculty. — We repeat in unison.
— Ah, so this is Letty… — Dean murmured. — Sam talks about you a lot, annoyingly.
I laughed, as if I was unable to understand anything. But I soon remembered what Bobby had told me when I arrived.
— Who was it… Sam, did you make a pact for Dean? Or was it the other way around? — I asked, taking a step closer to Sam.
— That's a long story for later! — Dean coughed, pretending to be melancholy. —Was she your college crush?
Sam laughed, shaking his head and said:
— Kind of yes, kind of no.
I opened my eyes wide, OK, that had taken me by surprise. But I cleared my throat, changing the subject.
— I'm really happy to see you again, Sam, and I'm really happy to meet you Dean. Sam loved talking bad about you. — I joked. — And I ordered pizza.
In addition to being happy, I was nervous. Sam or Dean had their souls at stake, and it was making me anxious.
— Bobby, how many children were you a father figure? — Dean said, getting up and grabbing a beer.
— Only four. Bobby laughed. — So, what did you find out today?
As he and Dean talked, my eyes were glued to this man who looked more like a double-door refrigerator. It was almost magical how handsome he was, how tall he was and how his hair was so well taken care of.
—So, what are you doing here? — He asked, approaching, I took a step back.
— I came to spend time with Bobby, help him with some cases.
— But you don't even like hunting. — Sam commented, taking another step closer. — And it’s dangerous
— The world is a danger in itself. So which of the two handsome guys died?
— Topic for later. — He pinched my nose. — And your sister? Didn't she come along?
— She… — I sighed and laughed. — He's traveling. — I lied, I didn't want him to feel sorry, he already looked bad enough.
— Crazy in both terms, Bobby as he is known. - He laughed, tucking his hair behind his ear.
— I think this proves that we are connected by something bigger. — I poked.
We heard the noise at the door. The pizza. I signaled with my eyes for him to excuse me and went to the door, I started to feel a sharp pain in my head. The voices in the room stopped, and a silence fell. I tried to open the doors with shaking hands, and when I managed to do so, I fell forward, in front of feet wearing pink boots. I looked up and saw myself there, literally, my ten-year-old self, with a sad face, wearing a pink dress and with both scraped knees. He held a strangely familiar necklace.
— Don't trust her, don't let him trust her. — Mine, I started repeating it several times. And then it stopped. — You have to protect him. She comes to get him.
She dropped the necklace to the floor, the pendant being a piece of stone shaped into the shape of an S but stained with blood. As she walked away, but without taking her eyes off me, I clutched my chest, it felt like my heart was trying to get out of my chest. My whole body started to feel cold, I screamed in panic and pain, but it seemed like no one could hear me. I closed my eyes and tried to take a deep breath and get up from the floor, but the pain in my chest and head was leaving me paralyzed.
— Letty, is everything okay?
At that moment, I couldn't distinguish which voice it was. But the moment I opened my eyes, all the pain was gone, I was in the living room, lying on the couch, with three men looking at me worriedly. I didn't feel any pain.
-Yes I am well. — I got up quickly by reflex. — Has the pizza arrived yet? — I asked bewildered.
Sam's strong hand placed me on the couch again.
— Look, you might have hit your head, or something. — Dean said, putting ice on my head. — I was lying in front of the door when we saw you.
— I didn't hit my head. — I took the ice out of my head. — It was a silly faint, I haven't been eating properly.
Sam laughed a little irritated, he hated it when he laughed in that superior and worried way. And I smiled at him, very genuinely.
— Fainting is never a silly thing! —Bobby and Sam said at the same time.
I got up again, I wanted to say what had happened, but I was embarrassed. So I simply said:
— It must be the contraceptive I'm taking, it's driving my body crazy! — I laugh nervously.
The three were silent. I walked to the kitchen with the pizza on the table. I tried to avoid them, trying to absorb what had just happened, the reason for that vision, the necklace. And of course the necklace represented Sam. But why? I thought it ended a few years ago, but no, apparently being the weird person who has visions is my charm. I took a deep breath, leaning on the sink counter.
I looked at the door. Sam was looking at me with furrowed eyebrows.
— I must have scared the delivery man. How long did I pass out? — I sat down trying to look normal.
— About ten minutes. — Sam replied, placing his hand on my forehead. — You should change contraceptives. And after all, why do you take it? You are in no danger of getting pregnant anyway.
I laughed and closed my eyes.
— Haven't I? — I provoked. — And I take it so I don't have to go through the unbearable pain of my colic. — He said dramatically.
— We both know you'll stay a virgin until you die.
It will be? — I raised my eyebrows.
— Terrible liar.
— Terrible… — I rolled my eyes. — I lost my touch.
He looked at me sideways with concern.
—Stop looking at me like that, you weirdo.
— You're the weird one here.
— You are more. — I got up, going to get a glass.
I was surprised with a strong hug. He placed his face in my neck and sniffled as if he missed my scent. I could have done the same if he wasn't so tall and my face wasn't so comfortable on his chest.

For all that "Criss Angel is a Douche Bag" is not the best episode of Supernatural, it is an interesting one. The bleak moral implications of the ending aside, the juxtaposition between Sam's and Dean's views is so worth digging into.
Because first you have Sam, who now that he's embraced he's a hunter now, doesn't necessarily want to do this forever. And he's got sort of a idealized version of it, that if he can get the worst of the evil taken out (Lilith) maybe he could go back to a more normal life. It's so John-coded. That they both only enter the life because of a tragedy and revenge, when they were perfectly happy living a regular life prior to that. And once their version of the mission is over, they have this dream they could just settle down and be normal. They're either intensely in the life (no friends, no settling anywhere too long like how John passed onto Sam and Sam onto Goul!Adam in 4x19), or intensely not in the life (Stanford!Sam) and there's literally no middle ground. No flexibility. For all that Sam has shades of gray when it comes to people/monsters, it shows how much he's like John with how how he structures his hunting life. And to a degree, how sheltered he is to think in way compared to Dean.
Because Dean isn't so idealized to think that hunting is something you can stop. He's watched revenge tear John and Sam apart. And while he wants revenge, he internalized that if there's evil to fight and people he could save, then they should be out there, more than John or Sam did. (Maybe because of the hurt he experienced as losing Mary and losing OG John, and he never wants anyone else to go through that.) That it's a fairy tale to think that taking out the big bad means that hunting is over. It's unclear if Sam thinks that taking Lilith down will be such a big blow that hunting won't be as necessary (because they'll be few enough monsters per remaining hunters that they could hunt little to not at all). Or if his personal responsibility to hunting will be over, and other hunters are out there to save people, but that's no longer his problem. But Dean is not so naïve to think that he could fully settle down knowing there's people dying that he could save. Or that he is he stays in the life he's not going to be hands on and reckless (or at least with low enough value of his own life over others) that it won't eventually get him killed (again). It's such disconnect between Sam's optimism and Dean's pessimism towards hunting. And it's interesting in the context of how the rest of the series goes with that mindset in mind, even chipping away at it slightly at times. That Dean tries to settle with a woman that knows about hunting so he can keep her safe openly. While Sam does settle down again with Amelia and treats hunting as an old part of his life he'll never address again, like Jess all over again, but goes back when Dean returns without a tragic revenge story. That Dean is willing to settle down in the bunker, because if you're going to hunt you take the joys in life where you can, nice kitchen, having a room full of creature comforts (also not surprising when Dean had to take his joys where he could get them when he never had the childhood Sam had). And Sam does settle in the bunker, but because his dial is stuck on either a hunting/not hunting setting, he never decorates his room, like he can't quite settle in and accept this is home and permanent.
Now a good ending to SPN would have fully contradicted Dean's statement in this episode about expecting to die young because there's no happy future growing old. And contradicted Sam's dread at ending up old and alone like Jay if he stayed in the life (because you can't tell me blurry wife and Dean jr is all the companionship Sam needs). But that's a whole different "tripping at the finish line" kind of conversation about the finale.
#i will add once again I have a lot of spoilers for the later seasons but I haven't finished them#because it's a whole thing#well multiple things - but one of them is that I can't even re-watch the seasons I've seen without intense analysis apparently#dean studies#sam studies#spn#supernatural discourse#supernatural meta#supernatural#sam winchester#dean winchester#spn 4x12#criss angel is a douchebag#spn finale critical

Supernatural S01E06 Skin
Not gonna lie, I never really liked this episode but for the first time in God knows how many re-runs I did find things that I liked about this episode.
Sam wears woman's underwear. 🤣🤣🤣
I never realised that Sam did keep in touch with his college buddies for a while after Jess died
Apparently, for his friends, he is supposed to be on roadtrip with his brother
Ironic how Sam calls Dean antisocial and Dean tell him he can't have relationships in this line of work and few seasons down the line, we see Dean having good bonds with Jody, Donna, Claire, Krissy and other fellow hunters but Sam has no one
Sam being sharp as fuck and realising Dean's not Dean because of missing car keys and bummed shoulder
Why does shifter!Dean look like just Dean? What were Jensen's directions here? Be Dean but angrier? I struggled to tell them apart. Maybe that was the point, idk
Lol, Sam's face when Dean says at least he picked the handsome one. Sit down brother, it's gonna be your face on wanted posters
Why did the shapeshifter tie a rope around Sam's throat but not Dean's? Kinda kinky fuckery if you ask me
That one scene where Sam is tied up and lying down on the floor. Why? Weren't you sitting? Tired? Or they just decided he looked pretty, lying on the floor and tied up?
The tender way Rebecca (Sam's friend) cradles his face (yes there's a gif below!)
