Thoughts on human x Mermaid? A kickstarter for a wlw short film about that just got greenlited.

oooh, big mermaid fan. that said humanxmermaid naturally lends to the mermaid becoming human a la little mermaid which i'm not really a fan of even if it has a bittersweet ending like the original. i'd rather mermaids stay underwater, y'know?

When the Stranger Washed up.

#1: Curiouser

Ever since she can remember, her eyes have always seen the human ship sailing in the horizon. Voyages from what she heard but the longer she looked, she noticed that it was changing. From the Egyptian reed boats, Greek ships of wood and oars, to steam ships, to huge cruise ships…she’s seen it all.

Some stray to her direction as she sung and sunk in the process but that was a long time ago. Now she sat alone in her cove, her shimmering tail like sapphires and aquamarine swaying under water as she spent most her days looking above at the horizon.

It made her wonder, what could those humans do to her? She knew that she can pretend as one of them but she never thought that she can find something from them.

From what she heard, humans are selfish, arrogant for their own existence, cruel to those who are different. Would she have the same treatment? Because underwater, she was worshiped as the first mermaid and spawned many more by magic. That’s what they said. She was a goddess but were gods lonely? Were they alone and often peered on people from afar? Perhaps.

She lives in a cove in the middle of no where. But she sees the ships all the time. It was too late when ships see her rocks. She doesn’t rescue them for she knows that it was never her fault.

However, a day came when a girl washed in her cove. Barely breathing and hurt, she lay on her cove’s soft beach with no consciousness. A girl with hair black as the waters at night, skin fair but pale, lips dry but beautifully shaped, nose small but perfect, and legs…legs wounded but they were there.

The mermaid watched her company from the water where her tail was hidden and her deep brown locks were pooling all around her.

The human was wounded but she seem alive. That’s good, right? Yes, It must be..

The mermaid pulled herself out of the water and knelt next to the girl. A girl who’s beautiful. Her clothes were tattered, perhaps from the storm last night. Were the gods mocking her? Or bringing her company? She can only guess.

She hasn’t been so close to a human before so her sea green eyes watched with curiosity. So much that she wanted to touch the girl but she flinched and pulled her hand back when the girl stirred.

The human was alive and awake! She must flee before she could do anything to her.

So she did. She jumped off the rock that held the human and dove in the water.

Just in time, the human fully woke with no recollection of what she stirred her awake.

hi, i love your writing! would you ever write some fantasy/mermaid wlw stuff? like humanxmermaid type thing like Tempted but not gothic if youre not working on anything currently? :)

I’ll consider it! Tho I do already have a wlw mermaid story called “The Glass Window” if you’d like to read that! :D

17 - describe a fic that’s still in the ideas phase. Huh. Well I have an idea for a mermaid AU that I haven’t really worked out yet? I’m think it’s gonna be humanXmermaid and somehow the person becomes a mermaid to be with the original mermaid? Magic sea kelp? I have no idea. But somethin cute5 - a crackship that I love? Sleepxiety! Yaaaasssss2 - a fic that’s on my to read list? There’s a couple fics that I started but there were so many chapters and I got lost and didn’t finish? I have no idea where I am with tbah and iol anymore if I’m being honest... I just want to re read them both completely over again.
