Can humans connect to all arcanum’s while elves can connect to only one?
There does seem to be something more flexible about humans when it comes to things like magic and destiny - and maybe those things are intertwined too - but it's hard to say for sure when we've got a sample size of 1.
Maybe it matters that Callum had to actively choose his arcanum, as opposed to being born with one. Maybe an elf who loses their arcanum can learn to connect to it by choice? And then to other arcanums too? There could be something in the agency of the choice that enables versatility in the person's spirit.
Or maybe it's more about Callum studying magic that makes multiple arcanums possible for him. One of the ToX pregen characters, Pyrda, is a mage who's studying all kinds of primal magic, just like Callum is doing.
Or maybe it's a bit of both. Pyrda is a Skywing mage, and she only has the one arcanum despite all her study. No reason you couldn't rp her connecting to a second one, though.
From a show perspective, I think there's something special about humans, though. We have plenty of hints that they might be able to do some cool things that elves and dragons can't. Connecting to multiple arcanums could definitely be one of those special things. We'll have to wait and see!

Humans have been bred to fight wars for their elven overlords, but the increased intelligence as well as free will, were things they didn't factor in, and after centuries of fighting in proxy wars for their egos, we rebelled and are now ourselves on the brink of repeating this ancient mistake.
humans are a subspecies of elf known for dying really quickly and being stressed the whole time

I imagine elves would think that humans are pretty masculine no matter their gender like the way we think elves look feminine and dainty no matter their gender.
So imagine an elf guy who assumes that humans like to be told how big and strong they are just cus they're usually more muscular than elves. He ends up flirting with a pretty feminine looking woman the same way you would a masculine man like,
"Oh wow~ Your so stroong~ "
He touches her arm, which is not at all muscular by human standards,
"Do you work out?"
And the woman's just like “...😐 Are u making fun of me?“
And the poor elf guy is trying to figure out where he went wrong 😭😭 He just thought all humans liked being complemented on their comparatively more masculine body types.😭

Shout out to Cishet White Teenager Christopher Paolini for realizing that if you give people infinite time, a completely non-judgemental society, and the power to change their bodies any way they want, lots of people are gonna start doing Freaky Anthro Transgenderism on themselves.
Like yeah, if I had the option I'd probably turn myself into a bizzare eldritch creature too
#eragon#inheritance cycle#eldest#this is the same book where Eragon gets his Magical Elf HRT so yk#i think you can actually do a pretty compelling transgender reading of Eragon's story.#how even though he lost things through his transformation it also saved him#how he's now inherently something between the world of elves and humans#and is regarded as Other wherever he goes#seen as something between an oddity and an abomination#but how those closest to him know that he's still the person they loved even though he's changed#sorry I'm reading into the kid's dragon books again. unfortunately they're permanently welded to my soul and I will never be free#1k

Elf boyfriend and you sharing the same evening routine. Brushing each others hair, oiling the ends before putting in a sleep braid. Softly singing while doing that. Combs made out of crystal, products from the forests...crafted by nature. Crafted by elves.
Your sleepwear is the finest linen; your skin has never been softer. You do his skincare, and he does yours. You put the lip oil on him, but he can't resist and kisses you; your lips were too close not to. You scold him with a soft "tut." He smiles and holds still for you to reapply the oil. Of course, he does the same for you.
You apply lotion and body oil to each other. This is the closest form of intimacy in elven culture: taking care of each other and trusting each other.

let it also be said that I love the Mahariel + Lavellan worldstate. It's so haunted. You are Dalish, you are not a part of human culture, but by happenstance you're dragged into it and to the forefront of hell to save a world that hates and fears your people. You have no choice. You can never return to your home, to the familiar, to anything you've ever known. You will be an echo; Mahariel echoing Garahel, Lavellan echoing Mahariel. You're so proud of your Dalish heritage, but your identity doesn't matter at all. Doomed to be a martyr for a people that do not respect you and cannot understand you, while your clan mourns, lamenting that they cannot bury you, no life-tree to stand as your memory. You're a hero. You're already dead. You died the moment you left your clan.
#dragon age#mahariel#lavellan#dalish origin#its so fucking. UGH#its SPICY its TANTALIZING its GIVING MY CHARACTERS MARTYR COMPLEXES#And you. child of the dales. who will remember YOU? not your symbol; YOU#who will remember the meaning of your vallaslin? who will remember the elvish prayers you mutter to yourself?#Who will remember? Not the humans. It's a wonder they remember Garahel was elven. nevermind the wild elves that are so feared#okay editing the tags#GUYS I FORGOT ABOUT AMERIDAN#but also ive never finished the jaws of hakkon dlc so#limited relevance#and tbh given how little is known about ameridan before You Find Him i dont think it's as applicable#like in the greater thedosian memory it's not 'lavellan is just like ameridan!' its going to be 'Whoa! two Dalish heroes in 10 years!'

a BIG part of the lore of Dungeon Meshi is how ageism is bad. About how the long lived races treat the young lived races like children and thus infantilize them and do not show them the respect and understanding they deserve simply because of their looks or short life spans. Whether its because to them they look like children in their eyes (like half foots and gnomes) or because the adult ages of the younger lived races are still in the child ages for the longer lived ones and so they get treated/viewed as children (we see otta receive comments about getting with minors when in reality she dated adult half foot women. so we already see this view towards things like this are a thing in the lore) We see this with chilchuck, senshi, and marcille where the two later view chilchuck as a child and treat him like one even though he is a full grown man who drinks (and is supposed to have grey hairs) all because he looks young and in the newest episode its revealed he is 29 which is still young children to the two of them. We see how perspectives that characters are children because of their age being a childs age for a different race as opposed to their race or because they look like children is a completely infantilizing and disrespectful behavior that causes so many problems in the long run. a theme that is completely flying over the average tumblr users head.
ive seen people get furious at other people because they sexualize chilchuck and even marcille
“oh they look like kids so dont do that you freak”
you absolute fool you missed a major theme of the fucking story. But because they look young suddenly they are children? have you paid no attention to the story? did you just ignore how the ageisim and weird mindset about ages like that causes so many issues that could easily have been avoided. and as for the age one i see people getting furious at others for being into and sexualizing izutsumi even though she is a year past adult in tall man years, but because she isnt in the adult age range in real life (wild your applying real life society standards to a fictional medieval fantasy world). even though even in lore she would be well an adult able to get married and everything tumblr really does have the media literacy of a toddler.
#dungeon meshi#idiots your missing a major theme in the story oh my god#its litterally just marcille saying chilchuck is a kid because to elves 29 is considered a child#even though he isnt an elf and is a half foot and so the mans dam near middle aged#but because 29 is a child in elf years she treats him like a child.#same thing with izutsumi#16 years is adult for tallmen and since she is 17 she is an adult#but because that isnt adult in real life human years (wild your applying real life shit to a fantasy world but whatever)#people get in a frenzied about people thinking she is attractive#like congrats your litterally just doing the exact same thing as the elves in the story do#like you have just completely ignored the lesson#chilchuck#marcille#senshi#izutsumi

Humans sometimes wonder what separates them from other races like elves and dwarves and orcs, like what makes them unique. Some people say humans are generalists, some people say we're the most adaptable. But actually there is something that stands out about us that all the other races find super weird. Humans are the only sentient creature to reproduce sexually like animals do, and because of that we're the only species with romantic or sexual attraction, and ideas like sex and gender.
Elves and dwarves create new members of their races slowly and methodically, like works of art. Harpies, angels, demons and dragons are all individually and personally created by their gods. Orcs and goblins are spawned from spawning pits on mass. Merfolk come close with how they lay and fertilize eggs, but even then any individual merfolk can both lay eggs and fertilize, and they don't meet when they do it. Vampires and other undead are spawned from other races. Fae just sort of show up.
So the idea of having sexes, and genders constructed around them, and sexual and romantic relationships is all incredibly weird for other races. Most humans don't notice it because they just naturally assign members of other races genders when they meet them.
Diffrent races have diffrent ideas around these constructs. But most of them find it some level of confusing. A lot of them just ignore it. But it's really disturbing for some, romantic relationships seem like weird bonds that can't be explained, like some sort of unexplainable and volatile connection. Sexual attraction seems like some dark animalistic instinct. Gender is incomprehensible, and also seems wrong and immoral to most races. And sex itself seem like the darkest of any reproductive ritual or magic. Because of all of this humans who don't experience some or any of these things often have an easier time connecting with other races.
This has also lead scholars to belive that humans are the only sentient race to evolve naturally. Something often thought impossible before studies on humans occurred.

Only the elves really see Elrond as "half-elven." They focus, of course, on who he is in relation to them. He's sort-of an elf– enough that they can accept him into their society, but not enough to erase his differences. They understand the different parts of him– his propensity to get sick, his elvish-sharp hearing, his need for sleep, his immortality– as "elvish" or "not-elvish." And while they can be rather condescending about anything they see as "not-elvish," they aren't usually very curious.
Most men regard Elrond vaguely as a fae being. This isn't unique to him– much of Middle-Earth's changling and fairy stories were built on the strange human-and-not-human nature of half-elves. Of course, different humans regard them very differently– sometimes with respect, even reverence, believing that "fairies" are beings of great wisdom and knowledge. Others see them with suspicion and fear, viewing them as sources of danger and deception.
To the Numenorians, Elrond is just one of them– a kind of "immortal man." He is like them in several key ways– he gets ill, he needs sleep, he regards the passage of time in a very "human" way. More importantly, he is their kin, a living remnant and reminder of both their mythical founder and non-human blood they share. He acts as a healer and counselor when they need him. This is all well and good until some of them start thinking that if Elrond could make the choice to be immortal, surely they should be able to as well.
The dwarves see Elrond as an elf. They absolutely do not care enough to tell the difference between him and the others. He's immortal, he's always with a bunch of elves. He's an elf.
The Maiar do not really understand what Elrond is, and have kind of defaulting to seeing him as one of them but like, small. Look, they're all uncounted thousands of years old, he's a child to them. They dote on him and think he's adorable, but sometimes forget that he's also part-elf and part-human, and can't just drop his physical form whenever he likes to go be a disembodied spirit in the clouds. Gandalf encourages all their antics. Elrond is working on it.
(Contrary to popular belief, the average hobbit does not have any kind of opinion on Elrond Peredhel. Bilbo Baggins, who lives in his house and has written several long, extremely personal ballads about his family history, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted.)
#silmarillion#silm headcanons#elrond#elrond peredhel#eldritch peredhel#bilbo baggins#half elves#silm meta#elves and humans both see Elrond in very weird ways because they both kind of recognize him and kind of don't#the hobbits and dwarves just do not care#the maiar seeing anyone from Melian's line: a baby!#they'll have to fight the House of Finwe for Elrond privileges though#no one give them access to Elrond's children they'll be the most annoying aunts and uncles

Astarion's dialogue files about other romances are a thing of savage beauty. I'll just leave this here for now.
[Astarion: Wyll's the sort of prince-type I would have once dreamed of marrying. When I was about thirteen.]
Teenage Astarion--undoubtedly already an insufferable arse--dreaming of marrying a prince is a precious thought.

at the end of tresspasser we see many of the elves mysteriously disappear across thedas correct? honestly this should have been the origin story for the veil jumpers: they get recruited by solas under the guise of restoring the ways of the elvhen.
initially these recruited elves would have been generally supportive across the board because finally there’s some kind of reclamation of their history and their past. finally there is an explanation and some kind of hint of a future as a whole. things are looking up under the protection and guidance of the dreadwolf.
but as solas’ plan would progress we’d start to see a divide amongst his followers, and i reckon this is where the veil jumpers would begin. as a pushback to this. as an act of defiance against what was coming. learning what solas’ plans are for the future of thedas and tearing down the veil and all that. the veil jumpers choose not to reclaim their history and past through these kinds of designs, but instead to learn for themselves because they are owed it. they deserve it. but not at the cost of the world ending.
idk i think the worldbuilding and the lore could have been SO much better. and i think it’s really strange that solas had agents in tresspasser and then suddenly had nothing come the start of datv.
#dragon age#dragon age the veilguard#dragon age spoilers#dragon age the veilguard spoilers#idk i don’t really feel like we got to learn much about why the veil jumpers were doing what they were doing#and it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me that humans and dwarves and qunari could also join the veil jumpers??#i think if we had specific origin stories like we had in dao it would have made for a more culturally impactful game#because i don’t think a dwarf veiljumper would have the dialogue and writing necessary to understand the significance#of why they were helping the elves recover artifacts and such#rune speaks

In one of the extra comics Marcille mentions that elves don't have body hair, her included. So Falin staring at a naked pussy is Canon
I mean, I hear what you're saying but...
To be 100% honest, this feels really ambiguous. She's a little too worked up in that second panel. Like, a lot of people have interpreted it as her being defensive and self-conscious about the fact that she shaves and waxes religiously (especially in the context of a trans headcanon) and that feels more right to me?
My personal interpretation is that she really doesn't grow little facial hairs (partially bc we've seen Senshi's huge beard turn into a tiny little elf stache so there is some real evidence for that). But then she doesn't actually know if she has peach fuzz or not and gets REALLY flustered about being scrutinized before she can check for herself and shave off anything she doesn't like.
But either way, my point is that I don't think we're meant to take Marcille's words here at 100% face value and consider it evidence for elf physiology.
And listen. I think Marcille should have a bald pussy in the bath scene bc rule of funny. But beyond that, I want to believe elves can grow pubic hair. I want to believe in the postcanon blondie bush. She's exponentially cuter with it, and I don't want Falin to have to eat bald pussy for the rest of her life. I'm only half joking when I say I want it as a part of her character growth. At the end of the story, Marcille Donato accepts that she is a living, breathing animal that eats and will be eaten and sweats and shits and grows hair all over her body. She learns to accept mortality, starts to reconcile with the inherent grotesqueness of being alive, and most importantly, lets her bush grow out for the first time in her life. And it's beautiful.
#asks#dungeon meshi#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#farcille#marcille donato#marcilleposting#obviously im being facetious but i assure you there is no sarcasm or satire in this#I will say I think she probably only has peach fuzz on her arms and legs tho#me and my dad have naturally mostly-bald arms and legs so if it's possible for irl humans i dont see why it wouldnt be true for elves#anyway i broke my social media ban to answer this but im logging off going back into crunch mode sorry#see you guys on the other side of may if i manage to survive
