"Human Resources" is a workplace comedy series that follows a fictional company's HR department as they navigate the challenges of managing employees who help with the emotions of humans. The show's unique blend of humor and heart makes it stand out from other workplace comedies. Unlike "Big Mouth," which relies heavily on crude humor and shock value, "Human Resources" focuses on genuine relationships between characters and the struggles of balancing work and personal life. This is what I will be talking about in this video.

My Thoughts of Netflix's Big Mouth
The show and its' spinoff Human Resources were recommended to me by my friend @artstar1997. And I love them so much more than I thought I would! I recently finished my first binge and I'm ready to watch them all over again. And this is high praise coming from me. because I don't normally go for irreverent adult animation. I don't even like The Simpsons anymore. But I love these shows!
So first off, the animation style is an acquired taste. Personally, I like how all the characters have big, stylized lips, compared to most other animated shows where the mouths are just a line on the face. Plus, I really like the way they draw the eyes. They look like tiny color wheels.
The show is all about puberty. The creators, Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg even based the main two characters off of themselves when they were going through puberty. And man, they do not think well of their younger selves! Those two boys make every mistake in the book and only sometimes learn from their mistakes. But that's okay, so do the other characters. The writers dug deep into their memories to bring out what it's like being a teenager, any kind of teenager. So, of course these kids make bad decisions, of course they get crazy crushes, of course they're bad at communicating. That's part of growing up. The magical realism just heightens how we all feel when we get older.
The show also goes out of its way with different types of representation. There's POC rep, there's queer rep, there's hit-or-miss disabled rep. I'm not saying it's perfect of course but it's really impressive compared to other shows. And it does a great job of character development. Minor characters like Matthew, Caleb, and Lola start off as basic caricatures, but go through personal arcs and story lines as the show progresses.
What I love even more than the human characters are the mind creatures who guide them. The Hormone Monsters, Lovebugs, Shame Wizards, Anxiety Mosquitos, and more. They all think they know what's best for their human clients and for the most part they all legit care about their wellbeing. And that's really touching to me. Not even in the works of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, where gods literally depend on human belief to exist, have I seen that much investment in a mere mortal.
And it's funny. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm hard to amuse, but I've laughed, out loud, to every Big Mouth episode I've seen. Yes, there is some offensive stuff, and yes, I've averted my eyes many times out of second-hand embarrassment. But the series as a whole is about having fun while touching on serious topics. And while I wouldn't call the show 'wholesome', there are some moments I actually find kinda cute.
And for all those who say that Big Mouth is "ugly" or that it "sexualizes kids", let me remind you how much Japanese anime features full-frontal nudity. And they don't even have the guts to make them anatomically correct. At least Big Mouth shows you what genitalia actually looks like. Plus, they don't even show sex onscreen. The most we get is a euphemism or the character's face. And if that "ugly" stuff turns you on, that's on you.

hot take— or maybe just an unspoken take? big mouth isn't bad, it just becomes less relatable/enjoyable the older you are, unless you retain the kind of humor it adheres to throughout your adulthood.
i feel like human resources is generally better written than big mouth, but human resources tackles hard-hitting emotional topics and the occasional real-world injustice while big mouth primarily revolves around puberty and family dynamics.
human resources is geared towards adults, big mouth is geared towards children– and before someone starts the train of "big mouth is widely more inappropriate than human resources", i know it might be hard to remember as you pass that phase of your life, but i vaguely remember fifth grade being where i got my first taste of innuendos and internet links that i definitely shouldn't have been looking at.
so, yeah. totally not fair that big mouth has lasted longer than some shows that deserved a continuation, but i don't think we should blame the show itself for being kinda stupid and gross and super silly because unless you had a certain kind of childhood, i think that was the general middle school experience in america (which is exactly what the show is trying to depict).
#big mouth#human resources#also i'm pretty sure both big mouth and human resources are cancelled#sorry guys#you're gonna have to find another ongoing series to blame#or yk#just start blaming whoever is greenlighting these cancellations#or furthermore#blame the poor promotion#seriously there are so many shows on netflix that don't get a lick of promotion and then suddenly have a new season out of nowhere#idk if netflix originals are allowed to advertise outside of netflix but anyways

9 Anime to Watch to Feel Like This 👇🏾
The alternative title/concept for this list was "Anime Featuring The Zaddiests of Daddies" but, you know. Consistency or whatever. When I saw the gif, however, I cackled so loud that I figured it still captured The Vibe ✨ (that being #fatherless) Considering this context, some recommendations are slightly longer than the usual bite size serving of 12-24 episodes but you won't regret indulging. Each show is recommended for the plot which is very evident with the teaser gifs. Happy Fathers' Day, you degenerates. And remember, you don't have to have kids to be a Daddy. 😈❤️
Spy x Family (series) - There is something so wholesome about the fate of the world as he knows it relying on how convincingly he can portray a Good Father despite his own origin story. Loid Forger, in a mission to maintain peace, creates the perfect family through any means necessary. Doubt he realized, in doing so, he'd create a home for himself and the oddballs helping to keep up the ruze.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu
Buddy Daddies (series) - The life of hitmen Rei Suwa and Kazuki Kurusu get a bit more messy when one of their hits leaves them with a pretty sizable loose end. Regardless of their occupation, their lives change around a little girl and trying to provide as good a home as two, single twenty-something men can. The rest, they'll figure out.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll
My Senpai is Annoying (series) - Very capable working woman finds herself kohai to an older, overly chummy colleague who DEFINITELY does not know how to PDF documents unsupervised. This is a show about their day to day interactions. If you're wondering if Takeda is the only contender in this series, hold out for Futaba's grandfather. Just trust me.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll
Jujutsu Kaisen (series + movie) - *Gestures vaguely to my blog* This show has plenty of compelling reasons to become obsessed. Trying to train strong child soldiers to protect the balance of humans vs curses so they don’t see a grisly demise is just one of them. Not your average shonen, not your average found families.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu
My Hero Academia (series + movies) - Something about kids needing guidance so as not to die while in the pursuit of some great civic duty really creates an environment for some skrunkly father figures. 😘👌🏾 Never mind that the climax of this story is one that tangles generations of families as society adapts to the advent of super powers.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu, Netflix
Fire Force (series) - in a world where humans can spontaneously combust, Shinra, who is blamed for the fire that killed his mother and younger brother, seeks to overcome the stigma of his power and joins Fire Force Company 8. In training to fight Infernals, he learns to control his pyrokineses under the guidance of many talented fighters while trying to understand the world around him and the invisible hand that manipulates everything.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu
Attack on Titan (series) - Unpredictable violence at the vicious jaws of larger than life monsters, the last remaining humans seek refuse behind hallowed walls. Until one day, the day the first wall fell, which made what once provided security feel more like a holding pen ahead of the slaughter. As resources dwindle and the indomitable curiosity of humans persist, the brave minority pushes the boundaries of the walls that house them and seek to uncover the shroud of mystery as of how they found themselves prisoners to titans in the first place.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu, Sling TV
Chainsaw Man (series) - Human fears strengthen devils which threaten to overrun the world. Enter the Public Safety Devil Hunters responsible for exterminating devils before they become bigger problems and keeping a bead on larger threats, namely, the Gun Devil. The titular character eventually falls under the supervision of Aki Hayakawa (and later Kishibe *swoon*) who has a strong single-dad-who-works-two-jobs-who-loves-his-kids-and-never-stops type vibe.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu
Blue Exorcist (series + movie) - When your dad is Satan, the bar is literally in hell for the man who steps up to raise you. Even so, LOOK AT THE DRIP. There's a narrow line to walk when trying to overcome your own parentage and twin brothers, Rin and Yukio, seek to do so by following in their adoptive father, Shiro Fujimoto's, footsteps despite obvious adversity. Just remember to skip to Season 2 after episode 17 or Google the proper order to watch.
Sub/Dub | Crunchyroll, Hulu

I finally finished echo so if you’d like to listen to me incoherently ramble about it and my baby maya pls join me below ✨
first off the fact that there were only 5 episodes is fucking CRIMINAL
secondly alaqua cox is quite literally one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever seen
and thirdly I would die for biscuits and billy jack
side note- matt showing up just to be a dick and show off and then dip is so on brand but this isn’t his show and it isn’t about him so that’s the last i’ll talk about him
let’s get into it
not even two minutes into the first episode I was leaking from my eyes, and that happened several times throughout the entire series
the tone of this series reminded me so much of the netflix mcu and after watching echo, I have a lot more hope for future marvel projects that are darker and more gritty
the way this show dealt with themes of grief and generational trauma while also balancing sequences of violence and sprinkles of comedic relief was incredible. nothing felt cheesy or forced, the pacing was a little fast but again we were only given 5 episodes and echo definitely deserved more
the entire quileute tribe being cast is fucking ICONIC
the amount of work that went into making sure the indigenous representation was accurate and presented in a respectful way was very impressive. my father’s side of the family is native american and live in oklahoma and it was just really neat to see something so close to home portrayed in marvel without being over the top or exaggerated
I forgot how much I loved vincent’s version of fisk and getting to see him in the iconic white suit was incredible. i’m also super stoked to see the mayor fisk storyline and how that affects maya
I think they should’ve spent longer exploring how her ancestors echo through her and the healing abilities/powers that seems to grant her. it’s a lot different from her “power” in the comics and I honestly think it’s a more interesting concept and I would love to see them explore it further in the future
I loved that they weren’t lazy with the sign language and that the cast and crew all learned to communicate with alaqua
I loved that they also spoke in choctaw, and started the series with the creation of the tribe to set the stage for the rest of the series
the fact that alaqua herself is deaf and an amputee just proves that she was meant to play maya and she did a fucking PHENOMENAL job
I think they handled her disability so respectfully and perfectly. it wasn’t a hinderance or something that was heavily pointed out, it was literally just a part of who she was and that’s it
she’s so fucking smart and resourceful like she straight up made a gun out of a roller skate???
playing dragula at the skating rink was so real she’s just like me
the way they laced sound in and out of certain scenes to give us maya’s pov of what she experiences was such a neat thing to do
the little easter eggs confirming that the netflix shows are canon??? (fisk’s hammer, the roxxon gas station, etc)
y’all know how I feel about feral brunettes (especially ones in leather jackets)
“kingpin had his run. it’s time for a queen.” FUCKING ICONIC
bottom line is this show was fucking amazing and if you haven’t watched it yet, please do yourself a favor and check it out, especially if you enjoyed any of the netflix marvel shows. you will not be disappointed
i’m humbly appointing myself president of the maya lopez fan club and you’re all welcome to join we’re getting matching leather jackets
I can’t rave enough about echo or alaqua cox (I mean I could) but if you’ve made it this far thx for coming to my ted talk 🖤✨
#maya lopez the woman that you are#i’m obsessed with her#5 episodes is criminal and i’m not gonna stop complaining about that#I don’t want any more time travel or multiverse bullshit#give me more MAYA#and biscuits and billy jack thx#echo#maya lopez#alaqua cox#marvel#court rambles#court pls shut the fuck up

The Top 10 Spooky Cyberpunk Movies and TV Shows: Neon, Fear, and Dystopia for #CyberSamhain
Alright, my fellow netrunners and glitch enthusiasts, it’s time to jack into the grid and merge two of the best genres around: cyberpunk and horror. You know the deal—neon-lit cities crawling with tech, corporate overlords doing shady things, and a constant feeling that you're being watched. Now throw in a healthy dose of spine-chilling terror, and you've got the perfect setup for #CyberSamhain. We’re talking about movies and shows that don’t just make you question your reality—they make you afraid of what’s lurking in the dark corners of the digital world.
So, buckle up, because we’re about to run through the top 10 spooky cyberpunk movies and TV shows of all time. Get ready for creepy androids, mind-bending AIs, and dystopian nightmares that’ll leave you sleeping with the lights on… and your computer turned off. You know, just in case.
1. Blade Runner (1982) Spooky Level: "I think that neon sign is watching me." If we’re talking spooky cyberpunk, Blade Runner has to sit at the top of the list. Sure, it’s more of a slow-burn than in-your-face horror, but the eerie, rain-drenched streets of future LA? They’re pure cyberpunk nightmare fuel. Deckard's hunt for rogue replicants isn’t just an action-packed mystery—it’s full of existential dread, identity crises, and the looming question of what it means to be human. Plus, Rutger Hauer’s “Tears in Rain” speech? Goosebumps.
Resource: The Nerdist has a deep dive into how Blade Runner paved the way for dystopian cyberpunk horror.
2. Ghost in the Shell (1995) Spooky Level: "Am I real or just code?" No list is complete without Ghost in the Shell. This anime flick is a straight-up mind-bender that’ll make you question your own existence. Major Kusanagi, a cyborg cop, is chasing a mysterious hacker who’s messing with people’s memories—creepy enough, right? But when you start pondering whether you even have a soul, that’s when the real chills kick in. It’s got a cold, digital aesthetic, filled with philosophical dread that’ll leave you staring at your reflection, wondering if there’s anything organic left inside you.
Resource: Collider has a killer write-up on why Ghost in the Shell remains a staple of spooky cyberpunk perfection.
3. Akira (1988) Spooky Level: "I don’t want to become a tech monster, thanks." Want to see what happens when body horror meets cyberpunk? Look no further than Akira. This anime classic brings you a futuristic Tokyo, biker gangs, government conspiracies, and mutated psychic powers. The result? An out-of-control cyberpunk nightmare that gets creepier by the minute as Tetsuo’s powers spiral into grotesque body horror. The neon-lit streets and apocalyptic vibes are what dystopian dreams (or nightmares) are made of.
Resource: IGN has an in-depth feature on how Akira shaped the cyberpunk genre and our collective nightmares.
4. Altered Carbon (2018–2020) Spooky Level: "Body-swapping freaks me out." This Netflix series threw us headfirst into a cyberpunk world where consciousness can be transferred between bodies—or "sleeves"—so death is more of a suggestion than a rule. The spooky vibes come from the whole immortality for the rich, dystopia for the poor thing. The first season especially gives off some dark, existential fear—imagine waking up in a body that isn’t yours, with no idea how you got there. There’s action, mystery, and just the right amount of creepy tech horror to make you rethink that new VR headset you just bought.
Resource: The Verge has a solid breakdown on why Altered Carbon brings fresh cyberpunk horror to the screen.
5. The Matrix (1999) Spooky Level: "What if this is all just a simulation?" Look, if the idea of living inside a computer simulation where machines are harvesting your body for energy doesn’t freak you out, then you’re tougher than most. The Matrix took cyberpunk and cranked up the paranoia, making everyone question reality for a solid decade. Sure, Neo’s kung-fu is slick, but it’s the spooky concept of being trapped in a digital prison that makes this one so chilling. The machines run everything, and humans? Just disposable batteries.
Resource: Vulture has a deep dive into the philosophy and horror of The Matrix and how it made us all low-key paranoid.
6. Videodrome (1983) Spooky Level: "Body horror and TV mind control? Sign me up!" If you want a straight-up creepy trip through a cyberpunk-esque world where TV and tech meld with the human body in the most disturbing ways possible, Videodrome is your ticket. Directed by the king of body horror himself, David Cronenberg, this film dives into the concept of tech-induced hallucinations, mind control, and some seriously weird flesh transformations. You’ll never look at your TV the same way again. Long live the new flesh, am I right?
Resource: Den of Geek does an excellent job dissecting the chilling horror behind Videodrome.
7. Dredd (2012) Spooky Level: "Trapped in a megacity with psychos and drug dealers." While Dredd might lean more towards action than traditional horror, the dystopian setting of Mega-City One is creepy as hell. The movie focuses on Judge Dredd and his rookie partner, Anderson, as they fight their way through a skyscraper controlled by a brutal drug lord. The Slo-Mo drug scenes, where time is slowed to a crawl, are unsettlingly beautiful and grotesque, and the entire setting just screams cyberpunk dystopia. The violence, the dark atmosphere, the claustrophobic tension—it’s all there.
Resource: Empire has a fantastic retrospective on why Dredd became a cult classic and hit all the right cyberpunk notes.
8. Ex Machina (2014) Spooky Level: "Are AIs gonna kill us all or just manipulate us?" Here’s the deal with Ex Machina—it’s quiet, subtle, and so unnerving. The movie follows a programmer who’s invited to test an advanced AI named Ava, and let's just say things get complicated. The spooky part? Watching an AI learn to manipulate and deceive with an intelligence that’s almost human, but not quite. The claustrophobic setting, the slow-burn tension, and the underlying theme of humans creating monsters through tech? Yeah, this one will mess with your head.
Resource: Wired has a fantastic exploration of the AI horror in Ex Machina and why it feels so real.
9. Black Mirror (2011–present) Spooky Level: "Welcome to your tech-fueled nightmares." If you’ve watched Black Mirror, you already know why it’s on this list. Every episode is its own spooky cyberpunk horror story—whether it’s the dark side of social media, virtual reality, or AI gone rogue. "San Junipero" might be a more feel-good episode, but "Playtest", "White Christmas", and "Metalhead" will have you questioning whether we’ve gone too far with tech. It’s cyberpunk horror, but with that all-too-real edge that makes you want to smash your phone and go live in the woods.
Resource: The Guardian does a killer analysis on the most terrifying episodes of Black Mirror and why the show taps into modern-day fears.
10. Upgrade (2018) Spooky Level: "When your body fights back." In Upgrade, a guy gets an AI implant that controls his body after he’s paralyzed in a brutal attack. But this isn’t your average tech-upgrade story—soon, he’s dealing with an AI that’s starting to take control in very disturbing ways. The film’s got that cyberpunk dystopian vibe down, with a gritty future setting and a tech-horror concept that feels way too close for comfort. It’s violent, it’s slick, and it’s got enough body horror to satisfy your spooky cravings this #CyberSamhain.
Resource: SlashFilm has a great breakdown on Upgrade and why it’s one of the most underrated cyberpunk horrors in recent memory.
Final Thoughts From existential AI crises to body horror nightmares, cyberpunk and horror go together like neon and rain. This #CyberSamhain, grab one (or all) of these movies and shows, switch off your phone (because, y’know, Black Mirror), and get ready to dive into some of the creepiest, most unsettling cyberpunk worlds ever imagined. Just remember—whether it's rogue AIs, mind control tech, or creepy robots, it’s all fun and games until the machines start thinking for themselves. Sleep tight, netrunners!

I Can't Remember Love (Zhongli x Reader)
Lolita's Note: This is a fic I impulsively wrote inspired by this song! It's one of my favorites. I've been feeling under the weather lately so this is very self-indulgent.
Reminiscence. It is one of the many bittersweet things that Zhongli goes through in his life countless times. There are instances where he wishes he has the memory of a normal human being.
Fickle, fleeting, yet like the essence of the cycle of seasons, the memory of a human being eventually forgets to make room for the new.
Sometimes it forgets the most monotonous thing; sometimes it forgets the most painful encounter. Though, sometimes it also remembers, but unlike him, the memories inside a mortal's mind become a mosaic of fragments unique to their own journey in their lives.
But to him, he remembers it all. Whereas, instead of a fragmented mosaic, they are all clear paintings that move through every fiber of his being.
Memories of the archon war, of the many eras he had lived through, of the many battles he fought, and of the people whom lives he had witnessed blossom and wither - it all melts inside of him, an unpleasant mixture of despair, bloodshed, triumph, and change.
But, out of all the things he remembers, he chooses to reminisce about you.
His beloved.
His treasure.
The first time he saw you was during one of your travels, lost in the mountains where the adepti resided, and he remembers the questioning look in your eyes when you found him sitting alone by the stone table at Mt. Aozang, and he always smiles at himself when he remembers the cautious way you asked him for directions to get back to the harbor.
Back then, he thought he will never see you again, part of him wanted you to take a seat beside him and rest for a while, but he sensed your urgency to return back to where you came from.
So when he saw you again, he remembers how surprised you were when he visited the restaurant you temporarily worked for.
He remembers how hardworking and clever you were. You always loved what you were doing, and he admired your unbreakable resolve to keep moving forward despite the many obstacles you faced in life.
He remembers the day he realized he became too watchful of you, and he remembers the day he found himself accompanying you too often in your journeys.
When you asked him why, he remembers how he told you that he just grew fond being around you.
He remembers how you used to buy yourself beautiful clothes after a commission with a hefty pay.
He remembers how you always dreamed to be part of an opera troupe, and when he tells you he can refer you to one of his acquaintances, you politely refuse him. He remembers you telling him that you've grown 'too old' for it, and that you didn't 'have enough time and resources'; but you always tell him that it can happen in the next life.
For every dream you didn't achieve, he remembers how you always tell him that, often with that sweet smile in your face.
And he almost laughs bitterly at that.
When he thinks about you, he also remembers the archon war.
He remembers searching for you far and wide. For each step that he took, he looked for any sign of you. Anything, even the faintest tune of your voice. He remembers desperation.
To see you,
To feel you,
Alive.
He remembers how the flames engulfed the traces of your life. He remembers the embers of what was once your home.
He remembers the sight of burnt silk and shattered pieces of jade ー one of your favorite possessions.
He remembers how he lost himself at the sight of losing you. And it was painful.
He remembers that it was the moment where he grew tired of losing people that mattered to him.
At the time, he knew nothing but wrath and despair. Zhongli grew coldhearted, his heart hard as stone. But, he found that the passage of time does heal you little by little.
Yet, out of all the things he remembers about you, Zhongli seemed to forget one thing.
Love.
He thinks it's better that way, to forget about how much he loved you. In a sense, it makes remembering you less painful.
With each passing of the seasons, his heart ached less, and his scars healed better. A few hundred years have passed, and Zhongli became a man of many duties.
Presently, the man puts up a facade of a polite and dedicated bachelor, dutifully fulfilling his responsibilities as the esteemed consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
He seemed to take it as his favorite pastime, drinking tea or having wine and reminiscing about you, especially when he is alone.
Whenever he stops by the Heyu Teahouse, he pictures you as one of the guest performers alongside the Yun-Han opera troupe.
Oh, how you'd look beautiful in their delicate costumes. Zhongli always wishes to a fallen star that maybe someday, you'll return to him living the life you once dreamed of.
But he knows it won't be coming true. So he holds on to every bit of memory he has of you.
Zhongli wants to remember how he loved you.
He wants to remember how he kissed and touched you.
Out of all the things he can forget, why would it be the one? He asks himself.
They say it is bad to open up old wounds, but he does so whenever he thinks about you.
He hates to admit that he wants you back.
Zhongli wants to see and feel your existence again, and maybe he is desperate about it, but he doesn't want to live his life like this anymore.
He doesn't want to pretend. To put up a facade. He has become so restless and empty for the last 500 years. He can't help it.
It's not the same without you.
"I remember springtime, I remember when it rained"
A familiar voice rings through his ears and he looks up to see who the next performer is.
"I remember night time"
His eyes widened at the sight. He saw the one person he had longed for so long.
"The happiness and pain"
There you were, standing on the stage as you sang a mellow song from a foreign region. The guests were intently listening to your melodic voice, as you sang a song of melancholy and love.
"I remember you"
Zhongli found himself walking towards you, cautiously, as if he was reliving the moment of your first encounter. Your eyes were closed, and you had the familiar smile on your face. He remembers it clearly, the expression you have when you were enjoying yourself.
"But I can't remember love"
He found it ironic. You were so beautiful. You felt so complete, like you weren't chasing ends to meet anymore. So, he knows this is different. This is not you from many years ago. Still, you looked the same as ever ー as if you haven't aged at all.
"Was it only yesterday, or many moons ago?"
Zhongli realized you were looking into his eyes, still smiling ー as if you were asking him the lyric you were singing, reminiscing about the archaic past together. He felt his heart beat again, and he wanted nothing but to hold you tight in his arms.
"When I turned and walked away, where, oh, where did it go?"
The lanterns of the teahouse illuminated your face, and you both stood there. Zhongli patiently waited for you to finish the song. He doesn't know how to approach you, or how you'll react when he calls you by your name.
"I remember you. Yet, I want to remember love, and I do…"
You sang the last lines of the song and people clapped as you ended your performance. It turns out you were a local singer who performs in taverns and teahouses all across Teyvat. Zhongli felt nostalgic at that fact. You are still a traveler at heart.
He felt a pang at his chest when you started to walk away. He figured you still had places to go.
No.
He cannot let this happen.
He cannot lose you again.
He called your name as he started to chase after you.
You were about to get inside your carriage when you heard his voice.
"Are you referring to me, sir?" You asked innocently.
"Yes." He replied, catching his breath.
There was silence for a while. While you were studying his appearance, he felt a mixture of feelings as he took in your beauty.
"It… it really is you." He smiled. He doesn't want to scare you, but he remembers now. He remembers how his heart beats fast whenever he's around you. He remembers how it takes all of his composure to remain calm and collected whenever he is near you.
He remembers it all.
And for once, he wishes he won't forget anymore. He'd rather have the curse of remembering everything as long as there's you in it.
He remembers now.
He remembers how much he loves you, even if you don't remember him anymore.
He'll watch over you, just like he did in the past. He'll protect you. And if the time comes when you need him by your side, he'll stay with you ー for as long as you need.
To Zhongli, your existence is enough to make him love you, even if it's just from afar.
So, he thanks every fallen star he has wished to; because he can truly feel alive, now that you're here again.

The US and its propaganda arm, Hollywood, have always been anti-Asian. Although opportunities are opening up for Asian actors, the underlying messaging—that divides and hurts Asians—hasn't changed.
Not too long ago, AsAms seemed united in outrage against racism and white-washed casting such as Scarlet Johannsen in Ghost in the Shell, Tilda Swinton in Dr. Strange, or Netflix’s Deathnote. Yet as more projects with AAPI leads and casts were produced, this so-called unity proved to be a lie.
The illusion of AsAm unity fell apart with To All the Boys I Loved Before—which was widely celebrated despite its blatant white-worship. The most recent blow comes from Hulu's The Company You Keep, a U.S. remake of a k-drama that replaced the male love interest with a white man.
Once it seemed like AAPI women were getting roles and being “humanized” (i.e. garnering attention and approval from white men on-screen and off) AAPI with media power were satisfied. It didn't matter that AAPI men were still erased and dehumanized—even in supposedly pro-AAPI projects.
Not only do AAPI with media power not care about the continuing harm against AAPI men, they exacerbate it. When AsAms critique anti-Asian narratives—especially ones erasing or targeting AsAm men like TATBILB—they're gaslit, harassed, censored and even permanently blacklisted.
This is because AsAm media is held hostage by the racist framework of the U.S. government's 1942-43 Mixed Marriage Policy. White men's hierarchy—based on perceived threat levels and receptiveness to white assimilation—still dictates Hollywood narratives.
Research confirms that the MMP persists today. A 2015 study shows how gendered racism leads to severe under-representation of Asian men (and Black women). Whereas monoracial Asian men face significant barriers in dating, a 2014 study shows mixed-white Asians get a "bonus effect."
This is why Hollywood execs know there will be less uproar if monoracial Asian men aren't represented—it's been the status quo for decades. In the few roles made for Asian men, they still fall into two categories: pathetic loser or toxic man/villain. In some cases, both.
The hatred and erasure of Asian men is so deeply embedded that it's led to the widespread erasure of AAPI men as victims of anti-Asian hate crimes in recorded stats and media narratives. AAPI journalists know this, yet continue to do nothing to correct it.
So what's next for AsAm representation? In 2022, Janet Yang became president of the Oscars. She's co-founder of Gold House—an AsAm Hollywood collective—and executive producer of Joy Luck Club, a seminal work bashing Asian men as irredeemable misogynists compared to "good" white men.
Many AsAms like Yang want more of Joy Luck Club and similar stories. Amy Tan, author of JLC, has been pushing for years for a sequel with the original cast. A TV series was optioned in 2017, and as of 2022 a movie sequel is to be written by white male screenwriter, Ron Bass.
Stories like Joy Luck Club aren't just bad media—they're dangerous. Arthur Martunovich randomly hammered three AsAm men to death because he saw a movie depicting Chinese men as abusers and he wanted to "protect Chinese women". There's a high chance that movie was JLC.
Hollywood has figured out it’s easy to make anti-Asian films and stifle criticism by hiring Asian tokens to give stamps of approval. An article from 1986 (40 years ago) about AsAm criticism of racism in Big Trouble in Little China shows there's a history of sowing division among AAPI and using government resources to do it. I understand the allure of the Hollywood dream because I used to believe in it myself. From an early age, all marginalized groups—POC, women, LGBTQ+—are taught to fantasize about how we'll finally be accepted and heal the hurt once we get on a big stage and give an award speech. Having experience in Hollywood as a comic creator, I know how people in power (esp. white men) behave. Their goal is to wear you down until you internalize their bigoted messaging, regurgitate it yourself, and then thank them for it. They hate the word "no." Awards don't matter if the content that gets you there ultimately serves bigoted and harmful purposes. In 2020, I made a test for AAPI media. None of the projects so far have passed. That's by design. We think we’re holding the statue, but really, it’s holding us.
Correction: I just noticed a typo in the comic. Inside the Hollywood sign's letter "Y" I meant to say "non-Asians" not "non-whites." Sorry, it was a lot of drawing and writing, and I got tired 🥴 (Please don’t repost or edit my art. Reblogs are always appreciated.)

Creatures from Human Resources and My Thoughts on Them
Hormone Monsters ~~~~~~ A better name would be "Sex Satyrs".
Lovebugs and Hate Worms ~~~~~~ Genuis metaphor! I'm surprised no one else has thought of it!
Logic Rocks ~~~~~~ Makes sense on so many levels. Surprised there weren't any Vulcan jokes.
Shame Wizards ~~~~~~ The embodiment of "jerk-ass has a point".
Depression Cats ~~~~~~ Mixed feelings on these. Depression sucks, but giant purple cats would be awesome.
Anxiety Mosquitos ~~~~~~ I feel really sorry for them. They're just worried all the time.
Ambition Gremlins ~~~~~~ I can't tell if that's a stereotype or not.
Addiction Angels ~~~~~~ Living oxymorons who love OxyContin.
Need Demons ~~~~~~ Sounds like "speed demon". Love their animation style.
Keith From Greif ~~~~~~ Adorable little badass.
Smitty From Pity ~~~~~~ He'd an onion and I love that!
Hope ~~~~~~ Interesting portrayal, nice lady, kind of a flake.

The human eye can perceive 10 million colours on average. All thanks to the 3 colour rod cells in the eyes.
Camera was first introduced in the late 10th century. And ever since then, it has been simply improving.
Painting and many forms of art has been in practice since the first human civilization. There are many colours and ways to paint.
Morpheus and Hob are human, and are limited the way humans are. They need rest, they need sustenance interactions with others. And above all, they need muse and motivation for their work.
On a sleepy Sunday evening, the pair find themselves on the blue sofa in their shared living room. Utterly defeated and tired, scrolling through Netflix for a calm and quiet thing to watch. They decided on a document about jellyfishes.
The evening was gloomy, but nothing in the WORLD could bring them down. You see, Morpheus has JUST delivered the 80,000 pound full wall-length piece he had done. It took him 4 months to finish, working 13 hours a day with little to no break. It was a landscape for a client who wanted to have him paint a red poppy field where their grandmother and son are buried. The artist was genuinely touched by the commission so he strived to do his best. Throwing himself completely into it, hoping the client loves the landscape.
He is a full time artist, so he hadn't the need to worry about other everyday life stuff but at the moment, Morpheus desires nothing more than to sleep until the apocalypse and even a little after that.
As for Hob, he has submitted his collection of photographs labelled as "Humans", a series of over 100 pictures that shows people doing human things, from their jobs to their hobbies, to travelling to eating, to celebrating to mourning, to playing to eating, from their first breath to their last. The idea was simmering in Hob's mind ever since he became a professional photographer, but simply didn't have the sponsorship nor the resources. Till his old friend from university rang him up and told him she could support him. So he dedicated the collection to Joanne Constantine, who is at the moment checking his pictures that he had spent the last 27 hours awake to edit as she reduced the deadline from a week to the next day, by an order from higher ups.
They both were proud of their labour and hoped to enjoy its fruits other than the money. They hope the receiving party enjoys their work as much as they enjoyed creating it.
More often than not, Hob had to drag Morpheus to his bed and likewise. There were times where Morpheus had to take Hob out of the most random places he can think of, and back home. To their shared space of comfort and calmness.
Home. One of Hob's favourite topics. He thought of making a new personal collection for it. The word holds so much meaning and emotions for Hob, he wants to give it its justice.
He already thought of where to start. It is from the person sitting next to him. The person to whom their penthouse belongs, to whom Hob's heart belongs.
Morpheus is not human, Hob was convinced ever since he did a Photoshop for him and his then-latest collection "Dreams and Nightmares", which went on to become his best work til date. Nothing about him is physically flawed. His face, his hands, his smooth skin, even his eyebrows. Don't get Hob started on his VOICE and his EYES.
Morpheus finds Hob interesting. The blue eyed man himself was sheltered and cut off from the world for most of his life, so when he met this vibrant person who looks like the sun is walking on earth, it was like his eyes were opened, truly, this time. Hob had dragged him around to eat street food, discreetly attended random university classes, go to protests unprepared, go to charity centres and volunteer personally in his free time, buy groceries and books every now and then, and interact with people on the tubes to make time pass.
The photographer had also showed him the simple, personal pleasures of life, such as the multi-layered flavours of food, enjoying the weather– a rainy day with a good book, a sunny day with a walk around the block– dancing around in the kitchen with lights off in middle of the night, baking cookies at 3 am, playing violin at crack of dawn, go to parks in the middle of a thunderstorm, making snowman, caring for sick or injured animals, making each other laugh til they feel like their ribs cracking, watch silly movies and reenact old plays.
They had also shared the worst there is to life. Hob lost his wife Elenor and his new born child Robyn unexpectedly. He took many long years to recover, drowning him in alcohol and misery. The session with Morpheus revived his old passion and he carried on.
Morpheus also had a long hard life, he was kidnapped for 2 years, no one knew where he was. Then when he got out, he met a deceivingly amazing woman named Tesslay, pretty soon, they got engaged. But when they were going to get married, she left him at the altar, never to look back or return. When Morpheus tried to contact her, she acted as though she didn't know him.
The artist had no idea he would find someone to be his rock ever again. The universe proved him wrong when it led him to Hob. He fell into a year-long depressive episode. His sister, Teulute, had to drag him out of it and encouraged him to work again. Only this time, it must be for himself.
Reluctantly agreeing, Morpheus worked on multimedia project. When it came time for the launch of his collection, he needed it to be BIG so that everyone knows that he is back and better than ever. He worked night and day for it. Hob was among the first to see it, he showered him openly with love and appreciation for his art.
His next work will be a birthday gift to Hob. He never gifted him a painting, despite being an artist. Ironically, Dream didn't know WHAT to paint when it comes to Hob. He knows what he likes and dislikes, but what he LOVES, is a difficult task. Hob loves everything A LOT.
Above all, Hob loves to see things from other people's eyes and to make them feel home.
Hm. Eyes and home. Such an interesting topic. Worth a painting. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Hob.
"Want some pie?" Hob calls from the kitchen, which is attached to the living hall. When did he go there?
"Yes, I would like some pie" Morpheus answers back back across the dark blue painted hall.
He glances around the place. It's cozy and comfortable, nothing like the High end and minimalistic one he initially gifted to Tesslay. This one FELT home.
Home always was such an important place for Morpheus, for he always searched for it. The journey took him over 3 decades, until he found out that his photographer was homeless, so he offered him his apartment. Most of the things done to the place is thanks to Hob's touch. He made it feel so human. Hob gave him the gift of connecting with humanity when he needed it the most.
The said man came back with half a pie and plates for them both. And a bottle of Ice Wine Morpheus forgot he had around. The brunette man offered Morhpeus an easy smile and handed him the pie just the way he likes it; no crust, only middle parts, and poured him the burgundy wine. He added a generous amount of vodka in his glass.
As they were eating, Hob turned to Morpheus, "I was thinking, mate",
"Don't hurt your head, it never was your strongest suit", Morpheus teased,
"Look who's talking", Hob shot back, "As I was SAYING, I want to do a personal mini project",
"I was thinking likewise, my friend",
Hob's eyes shone brighter than thousands of suns, "Yeah? What will it be about?"
"Can't tell JUST yet"
Hob groaned, "You're killing me, Morpheus", the pale man's heart DEFINITELY didn't skip a beat at the sound of his name.
"Tell me about yours", he said instead.
"It's about home", it was obvious that he was anxious about introducing the idea, given he drank a good 2 full glasses of wine and vodka. But he cannot hide it from his best friend. Not since he is the one who inspired it.
Morpheus was taken back. Hob was also thinking of the same topic as himself. What do you call that? Coincidence? Fate?
"It's a wonderful idea. Where will you start from?" Can it be from here? With us? remains dead on his tongue.
"I hadn't gone THAT far" Hob huffs, "I JUST thought about it", downing some more of his drink. Was he on his fourth or fifth glass?
Morpheus leaned back,"if you need help with it, please do tell me",
"Same with your thing. How long do you think it'll take?"
"Perhaps 5 weeks",
"More time of you being shut off and me being out and about, huh?" Hob meant it light heartedly but it did mean they will see each other less and less. He didn't want to see the one person who provides so much comfort and consistency to him utterly shut out of the world. It reminds him of the early days he moved it. He barely saw him. He was always locked up in his room like he was punished.
“I hope not”, Morpheus replies carefully. He dearly treasures his friendship with Hob. It would hurt him greatly to push Hob away. Ever since the last time they had a row, Morpheus saw his mistakes and apologized, but not before being dramatic and storming out like he was in a Hispanic soap opera. Thing were better since then. Morpheus engages with work around the house.
Sipping on the cold wine silently, Morpheus smiled at the fruity and sweet taste of the wine. It's his favourite drink.
"I just didn't find the right SHADE of blue to start", Hob starts,
"I'm facing the same problem with brown. I need the richest, most layered brown possible",
"Same with blue, I want it to be animated, to have LIFE in it, you know what I mean?"
"I need my brown to be perfect, for the painting must be perfect. I only have ONE chance to get it right"
Hob sighed moodily, "Gods bless editing"
"Y'know. Whales are big", slurred a mildly drunk Hob. Such a sweet pink filled his cheeks. The alcohol blurred his vision and somehow his impossible earthy brown eyes.
"Indeed", Morpheus always enjoyed Hob being drunk. It always leads to interesting places, especially in social events and high society events.
"NOW, you-you can't just be a whale. WHY!!" He said with the same gravity one would talk about losing something valuable to him. Like a real tragedy had occurred.
"To be fair, I would prefer a jellyfish to be. Just a bunch of neurons, no brain no care" Alcohol did lose his tongue as well. Though, not like Hob.
Then, Hob leaned onto Morpheus, his warm body half over his own. The look he gave him as he held his forearm could be considered dangerous if the man was sober.
"WHALES are the best",
"Jellyfishes", Morpheus said, stubborn as a bull.
"Whaaaaales", When the other man said nothing, Hob leaned his forehead on Morpheus' shoulder and gave out a little sigh of contentment.
"Life's 'ood", he breathed.
Morpheus was tense as a rock at this point. He rarely has anyone touch him like this. He is, by definition of existence, touch-starved, but he also DOESN'T like physical touch. Yeah, go make sense out of that.
Hob is allowed to do a lot of things to Morpheus, he can insult him, make him do things he wouldn't normally do, call him names (affectionately, ofc), indulge him into social activities and all.
Just like every other time, Hob is allowed to touch him affectionately, caressing his arm with his firm grip. Electricity was felt under Morpheus' skin, he felt like going out and taking it out. The heat between them was unnatural, but a very welcomed distraction from the cold outside world.
When Hob started humming a very off-key intro of August, Morpheus knew it was time to go.
"Alright, let's put you to your bed",
"Nooo", Hob groaned like a disgruntled cat, throwing his other arm on Morpheus' chest. The blue eyed man tried to budge him but to no avails
Seeing no other option, Morhpeus slid down to properly lay on the black sofa and let Hob get on top of him. Morpheus was sure that if Hob was a cat, he would purr so loudly, he would feel it in every bone of his body. Having his best friend over him like this certainly does NOT help the not so brotherly feelings brewing in Morpheus' heart and mind for quite a while.
He tried his best to bury his feelings, but to no use. Everytime Hob calls him dear, or love, or his many silly nicknames, Morpheus can't help but imagine hearing those words only for him alone, when he wakes up in the morning next to him.
"You smell nice", Hob muttered into Morpheus' ear, sending shivers down his spine and interrupting his train of thought
"Hmm" Morpheus was afraid that if he opened his mouth he would say something foolish again.
"Like, like san'al an'-and villina an' citrus"
"That's quite a mix", commented the unimpressed artist.
Hob grins in return,"it's you, an' you're my home",
Morpheus' heart yet once more skips a beat. Did Hob just call him HOME? Maybe it was the alcohol talking, or maybe it's the subconscious. The idea terrified him but the words excited him. How did he long to be someone's home? Their safespace? Their shelter and support?
Reluctant, Morpheus ran his hand through Hob's hair, like he always wanted. It was softer than what he imagined it to be. Untangled and smooth, was Hob's hair, in contrast to his own unkempt and wild head.
Burying himself impossibly deeper into Morpheus, like he wants to fuse with him, Hob wrapped his arms around his thin waist and slept.
It was practically impossible for Morpheus not to sleep like this after he imagined to do it for YEARS at this point.
The pain in his chest stopped cutting as deeply as if used to. His shoulders don't feel like he holds the weight Atlas does. The entirety of his body was relaxed. So was his mind.
Wine also did its job in soothing his burning nerves.
For the first time in a long time, Morpheus slept like the god had finally blessed him with it.
