a rich businessman, Ramkishen Chaturvedi (Alok Nath) and his wife, Mamta (Reema Lagoo) live happily in a big joint family with their three sons, Vivek (Mohnish Bahl), Prem (Salman Khan), and Vinod (Saif Ali Khan), and their married daughter Sangeeta (Neelam). family harmony is shaken when Mamta’s insecurities arise, triggered by an incident in Sangeeta’s in-laws’ home. misunderstandings arise, threatening to separate the siblings.

rewatched December 8th, 2024 on netflix

feels less like watching a movie and more like attending a grand family gathering. from the very first scene, it’s warm, colourful, and full of love. the characters laugh together, eat together, sing together, and dance together, making everything feel lively and joyful. I felt like I was part of this big family, and I was swept into their world of love and unity. the best part of this movie is the way it shows family life. everyone is ridiculously kind, well-mannered, and cheerful. it’s almost like a fantasy where people break into choreographed dances at the drop of a hat, and no one ever seems to run out of energy or happiness. as unrealistic as it is, it’s a lovely escape from reality. it made me wish life could be that simple and harmonious. the iconic road trip scene, where they sing "ABCD… I Love You," really brought back childhood memories for me. I remember asking my dad to buy a mini bus for our family after watching that scene. of course, it never happened ahaha, but this movie made me dream of travelling together as a family, laughing and singing along the way. for a moment, I forgot all the drama and just enjoyed the innocence and fun of this big family.

of course, there’s drama in the movie too. not everyone likes seeing others happy, so there are people who try to create problems. the twist about Vivek being a step-son and the way Mamta’s insecurities create misunderstandings are emotional to watch. even though it’s sad, it’s also heartwarming to see how the brothers’ love for each other stays strong. it’s the kind of emotional journey that makes me smile through my tears. Sapna, played by Karisma Kapoor, is such a standout character. she’s so lively, fun, and mischievous, always bringing a smile to everyone’s face. her chemistry with Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) is adorable and adds a lot of charm to the movie. lastly, Hum Saath Saath Hain might be unrealistic and overly dramatic, but it’s also incredibly heartwarming. it makes me feel like the world is good and people are kind, even if only for three hours. it’s not just about the plot; it’s about the feelings it gives me. watching this movie is like wrapping myself in a warm blanket of love, laughter, and togetherness.
