the hilarity of almost every character/person I’ve heard of named either adam or eve being fruity as fuck (adam parrish, adam silvera, adam from degrassi, adam from adam’s apples in glee, literally the entire concept of the adam’s apples in general, eve polastri, eve rothlo, eve from lucifer, eve from never have i ever, evelyn hugo, I could go on)

Of everything we know about Kenny, and just generally how amazing that boy was, I don’t understand who chose to have him have his own picture for his lockscreen.

yeah so it turns out that when 1/4 of your entire show is out of character, boring, and lacking in anything resembling a coherent plot, you have to at least cap it off with something interesting, something that will hook the viewers to remind them why they're watching and why they should continue to think about the series beyond the fact that a quarter of the entire series is objectively bad. Laura Neal instead decided that the most interesting, thought-provoking way to cap the series off is to say "villanelle is evil and eve is a good person deep down who just made a silly little mistake (the mistake is wanting to kiss a woman)" and so the entire series has been retroactively tainted by being another name on the list of "shows that think they're being edgy/groundbreaking by killing a lesbian main character".
why did killing eve fans die out so quickly??? is it because people don't engage with wlw content long term or can i blame laura neal

... okay that post going around about the wind rises is fucking killing me. no, the movie doesn't go to nazi germany to admire nazi engineering. the movie goes to nazi germany, portrayed as a nightmare where the gestapo chases people through the streets, a nightmare the myopic main characters are blind to because they get distracted by the shiny planes.
there, they admire the work of hugo junkers, who their company made a deal with eight years prior. the man who will, a year later, lose his airplane business because he refused to build warplanes for the nazis, who takes the principled stand that Jiro fails to. who sees the same visions Jiro does and has the courage to say no.
the film is not fucking subtle about how germany and japan are both lurching toward a monumentally monstrous and stupid thing, a thing that Jiro just kind of ignores because he's infatuated with his art, with his planes. this is, you know, the central theme of the movie, which sees the man neglect his dying wife to draft more blueprints?!?
no, the movie does not look at the screen and go "this is a bad thing" because its not a movie for fucking four year olds, but if you think the movie ending with a character standing in a nightmare hellscape of all his broken dreams, his wife dead and country in ruins, going "yeah but we built a nice airplane" isn't a statement about that fucking guy, you've very much missed the point.
and look, the wind rises is not even, really, about history. the film is a metaphor for what it feels like to dedicate yourself to making art under capitalism. it's about how Miyazaki feels about his legacy. it's about dedicating yourself to your craft at the eve of destruction (be it World War Two or climate change driven by capitalist consumption) and knowing that the beautiful thing you are making is contributing to it. it's about the nightmare of knowing you can't control your art after you release it, disgust knowing what you make will be used to advance causes you despise.
its a complex and raw movie, a meditation on despair and pain and pride. there's conversations to be had about how responsible it is as a film, but you are not having that conversation because you are incapable of anything more that the barest surface read.

Hey, y'all. I ain't dead yet and neither is this blog. Surprised? Yeah. Me too. But anyway...
Here's a question for you we've been discussing on the Killing Eve Reddit forum. Pop Quiz: Who is the MOST useless character in the entire run of Killing Eve? BZZZTTT!!! Sorry. There are multiple wrong answers, but only one right one. It's not Yusuf. Yusuf served as Eve's trainer and tech support in S4. He wasn't necessary but he's not useless.
It's not Hugo. Hugo replaced Kenny as tech support, accompanied Eve on the Rome op and she hopped on his knob. Hugo blocked a bullet and Eve left him to go to save her girlfriend. Hugo returned in S4 and served as the MI6 link for Carolyn. Hugo is not necessary, but he wasn't useless either.
It's not Pam. She had a ton of screen time and gave Konstantin a reason to be in S4. She would take him out in a stupendously stupid way, and had connections to Eve, Villanelle, Carolyn, Konstantin, and Hélène. Pam was necessary and certainly not useless.
That only leaves one candidate. The most deserving and obvious of the title, Most Useless Character. That is, of course...
GERALDINE. GERALDINE. GERAL-FUCKING-DINE.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Geraldine contributed nothing. Nothing but whining and moping around. She was introduced to give Carolyn someone to moan and groan to once Kenny was turned into street pizza, and then out of nowhere, Geraldine shows up with her wonky carrots to bang her mother's ex-boyfriend. ICK.
Take Geraldine out of S3 and what do you lose? There could have been some other character like Mo for Carolyn to show how wrecked she was by her son's death. I was hoping Geraldine would turn out to be the person who pushed Kenny off the roof so she could take her mother's favorite child out of the picture and replace him. That would have been better than what Suzanne Heathcote did when she wasted Gemma Whalen's talents.
Geraldine was the personification of an nothingburger. A big, fat, greasy NOTHINGBURGER. 🍔 The most useless character ever in Killing Eve's entire 32 episodes. Prove me wrong.

Batman Timeline (Personal Canon)
Beginning of Batman
Bruce returns to Gotham at the age of 25 to much media fanfare. He decides he is ready to finally enact his plan. Meanwhile, Lieutenant James Gordon is transferred to the GCPD after becoming persona non-grata in his home town of Chicago. He moves with his wife, Barbara Gordon, and she later gives birth to their son, James Junior.
In his first outing, Bruce encounters Selina Kyle and nearly dies. When a bat flies through his window, he comes up with the idea of Batman as a symbol which will make him more powerful than a simple man. Selina is later inspired to become Catwoman and focuses her heists on Carmine Falcone. Batman and Jim Gordon oust the corrupt police commissioner and become allies. (Batman: Year One)
Bruce reconnects with his old friend, Harvey Dent, now an assistant district attorney. Bruce attends his wedding to his wife, Gilda, and endorses him for district attorney.
The Red Hood gang carries out a series of violent robberies. When Batman confronts them at the Ace Chemical Plant, Red Hood One, the ringleader, falls into a vat of chemicals and doesn’t resurface.
Batman battles Hugo Strange who is now experimenting with turning people into deformed giant mutants. (Batman & the Monster Men)
A vampire cult forms in Gotham and is foiled by Batman. (Batman and the Mad Monk)
The Joker makes his first appearance with Batman realizing he was Red Hood One who fell into the chemicals but not what his real name was. Joker is declared legally insane and sent to a high security hospital. (The Man Who Laughs)
Batman, Jim Gordon, and the newly elected Harvey Dent make a pact to take down Carmine Falcone’s criminal empire at any cost. (The Long Halloween)
Falcone reaches out to Bruce and claiming that their fathers were friends, asks Bruce to help him invest in Gotham Bank which Bruce is on the board of trustees for aka allow Falcone’s organization to launder money through the bank. Bruce refuses.
Selina, now reinvented as a socialite, revolves in the Falcones’ circles and begins dating Bruce.
On Halloween night, Carmine Falcone’s nephew is killed in his home, setting off a series of murders which occur on a holiday each month. (The Long Halloween)
Initially the targets are those close to Falcone but after his son, Alberto, is killed on New Years Eve they change direction and target those working for Sal Maroni. A war escalates between the two rivals over who is responsible. Both sides and the police begin to suspect Harvey Dent. Bruce refuses to believe it.
Falcone hires Poison Ivy to seduce Bruce Wayne so he can launder money through Gotham Bank, unintentionally taking Batman out of the equation. Selina figures it out and rescues him as Catwoman inadvertently revealing her identity to Bruce. He decides to do nothing about it for now.
Maroni agrees to testify against Falcone but he is really laying a trap for Harvey who he splashes in the face with acid in the courtroom as revenge for his father’s murder. Harvey is rushed to the hospital but escapes into the sewers. When Batman tries to go after him, he is attacked by Solomon Grundy instead.
On Labor Day, Batman and Jim move Sal Maroni in order to draw out the killer. Maroni is killed by Alberto Falcone who is revealed to have faked his death. He claims to have been the Holiday Killer all along, motivated by a desire to prove to his father he is qualified to take over the family business.
On Halloween, Harvey Dent resurfaces and kills both Carmine Falcone and his corrupt assistant who enabled his attack. He announces himself as Two-Face and that there are two Holiday Killers before he is arrested and taken away.
Bruce wonders what he might have meant by this as he dispairs that he was just about to tell Harvey about his identity as Batman.
It is revealed to the audience that Gilda Dent was actually the original Holiday Killer but stopped after New Years when she believed Harvey had taken up the mission for her. Actually it was Alberto who saw an opportunity in the murders. Gilda destroys the evidence and leaves town.
Bruce falls into a depressive episode after failing to solve the mystery and losing the faith that he had in Harvey Dent as a beacon of hope for the city. His relationship with Selina suffers for it.

ROGUE WEREWOLF ATTACKS LOCAL!
by Amelia Gabble
[tw assault, gun mention]
@biceps--to-spare @chiefhugo-slade
On the 19th of August, Swynlake had its first werewolf attack since late 2020. The local boy that was attacked four years ago unfortunately succumbed to his wounds on Christmas Eve that year.
Luckily for the victim of this recent attack, he was admitted to Swynlake General with only scrapes and bruises. Gaston D’Avenant, 35, owner of The Hunted Deer, was walking through Enchantra when a “large, dark coloured werewolf” attacked him. Swynlake’s gamekeeper, Hugo Slade, 32, recounts that the wolf “had Gaston pinned to the ground and fighting for his life. [Slade] fired a warning shot into the sky. It was the only thing to break the beast's concentration.”
When asked for their thoughts on the encounter, both parties responded with precautionary sentiments. D’Avenant emphatically states, “I’ve been walking in these woods since I was a child--during the day and at dusk. It has never been an issue before. But now, no one can feel safe. I am an experienced woodsman and I was taken off guard. Imagine if I had been a tourist or a woman!" Adding, “If Chief here hadn't come along, I could've been turned or killed!"
Gamekeeper Slade informed the Squire that he would be getting Mayor Acheron’s office to set up more warnings about the dangers of Enchantra on the trailheads for tourists and locals alike. He warns trailgoers, “This was an unprovoked attack,” and “This is not an isolated incident… werewolves are motive driven.” Slade did not elaborate on if a motive for the unprovoked attack was identified or being looked into by Swynlake Sheriff’s Dept. at this time.
Despite Swynlake’s history of a pro-Magick approach, incidents like this create strife amongst the community and the Magicks involved. While we have many out werewolves in our community, the actions of the few are often blamed on the many. "This is proof most werewolves cannot control themselves or live in polite society. They are a danger to our town and livelihoods that depend on tourism," victim D’Avenant believes.
The only werewolf believed to be tied to the attack at this time is a large, dark coloured wolf. If you have any information about this individual, please contact the Swynlake Sheriff’s Dept. as soon as possible. Gamekeeper Slade reminds all that more information about outdoor safety and respecting Enchantra’s inhabitants is available on town halls’ website.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
First of all, I'd like to say that I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary out of the whole book. Just reading what it was about made me question it's worth. But then I started reading it and all my prejudices were gone. It's nothing like I thought it would be. Nothing straight and also nothing ordinary. Taylor Jenkins Reid made the story of Evelyn Hugo into a masterpiece. I was mesmerized by the whole plot, although Evelyn herself and Celia St. Jams were sometimes extremely annoying. The reason for that is probably either the fact that Evelyn reminds me of Carolyn from Killing Eve or that the whole on and off relationship was sometimes a little overdone. Whatever you think of the book, it is not disappointing. As always, my favorite character died and it wasn't even glorious or anything so I have to admit that this was a little disappointing.
However, the way Reid describes the life of a movie star in the 20th century is nothing like outsiders may think it was. There's so much movie stars have to pay attention to and so much they lose to get where they are. That's partly the reason I think the book is about finding your identity and staying true to yourself because the book is like the open example of how to not do it.
Also, the topic of finding your sexuality and coming to terms with it is well put in the book. Although the title doesn't give it away but the book talks about the LGBTQ+ Community in the 20th century and how it affected the high society.
Other than that, Taylor Jenkins Reid showed us another book with strong women who fight their way through life.
All in all, it is admirable to me how well written Taylor Jenkins Reid's book is and how well she portraits the good sides and the bad sides of Evelyn Hugo and her seven husbands.
