First of all - no bother at all 😊I’m really bad at checking asks because Tumblr rarely gives me notifications for them and I’m generally bad at remembering to check for them since no one usually talks to me 😅but I’ve also been super busy at work the past couple weeks and haven’t had as much time as I’d like for Tumblr and writing unfortunately 😔

Second - let me actually answer your other ask now! I’m personally not a huge fan of that show, sorry to disappoint! I watched a couple episodes when it came out (god that was a few years ago wasn’t it? I remember I was in uni still) and it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m very picky about any vaguely historical shows as I was a history major in undergrad and postgrad #hugenerd But tumblr is out there to find your community and your people so I’m sure there’s a fandom here for that show somewhere 😊

So, yesterday at the convention I got to meet Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes from TNG!!!.it was so incredible and he was so nice!. Myself and Dave went up to get things signed by him. Dave is also a huge Star Trek fan, so this was a major highlight for him as well. (Dave is @mikasiwolfgirl_piit28 fiance) So they conversed and I just stood silent, smiled, I was so nervous the whole time he was speaking XD. But oh gosh it was amazing!. There is zero direct textual evidence for this and plenty against it (most notably the passage that gets a little creepy if you squint at it the wrong way re: Cosette taking the place of wife) so it’s technically an AU but w/e, Vicky Hugenerd’s copyright has expired. I’m going to at least entertain the possibility of making it an official headcanon. After all, he wanders the city so much... where is he going? WHO KNOWS. So hey.

Valjean doesn’t like being too wealthy. He doesn’t ever want to be poor again, to suffer like he did in his youth, but too much and he starts feeling squirmy.  He gives charity where he can especially in a face-to-face basis. Taking this to its ultimate conclusion, he could so easily “adopt“ someone in need and provide for them completely. He would see only the good aspects of this, the generosity, and not how it might damage their self image— which is why I think it would more likely be a woman, (among other reasons like prison having made him extra wary of men). Much as my shipping trash heart would like to set up an actual sugar daddy scenario.

So however he meets her, she’ll have some kind of parallel with Fantine, which he’ll never make explicit, it’ll just be there at the top of his thoughts. He sets her up in an apartment much like he has for himself and Cosette, and it can double as an extra safe house (it’s in another part of the city). He visits when he can, never a set time or day of the week; but it’s a highlight. He can tell her when he’s feeling down without worrying as much about making her sad, because their happinesses aren’t tied up in each other like his and Cosette’s. He reads aloud to her sometimes— teaches her to read if she doesn’t already know?— and they share a little snack he’s picked up on the way there, often an indulgence of his sweet tooth.
