Huda Beauty Faux Filter Color Corrector: A Game-Changing Product for Flawless Under Eyes | Review - PR Gifted
“Huda Beauty is a well-known brand in the beauty industry, founded by the beauty blogger turned mogul Huda Kattan!“ Their products, from makeup to skincare, have gained a loyal following all over the world. One of Huda’s most popular products is the Easy Bake Setting Powder, a loose setting powder that promises to give a flawless finish to any makeup look due to the finely milled recipe. But…

Does anyone remember when Jeffrey Star accused Huda of copying Beauty Bakery because Huda came out with a setting powder called easy bake?
That was so dramatic. Nothing was similar except using a baking joke, and everyone was using a makeup technique called baking in that time period.

Makeup on my mind…
I want to talk about trends but I also just want to talk about my “makeup thoughts” … products that maybe aren’t the newest hot thing but should be
Gucci lip is my fave
Charlotte pillow talk is pretending to be one size fits all
What is the point of pink powder??
How do I feel about cream blush
Is beaming highlight old news or in again
“Bare” beauty trends- hailey Bieber, Kim k, skin care, rare beauty
What is your makeup mood? I feel like there are so many different expressions of beauty and the artistry or identity that goes into makeup, there are great products out there that turn into a viral sensation, but truly everyone has their own unique vibe and I love seeing it all come together. What makeup products make up your vibe or makeup identity the best?
Indie brands Im obsessed with: highlighters in the cool packaging and the odens eye
Auric beauty
Transfer proof lip, transfer heat budge proof makeup water proof
I don’t like silicone primers
Can’t find a noncomedogenic sunscreen, help
Patrick Ta blushes don’t hype me up
Bobbi brown primer over hyped?
Drunk elephant overhyped?
Skin care favorites
I feel like makeup is all about feeling and sensation
Eyeshadow palettes that didn’t impress me
Rainbow by too faced, naked (I miss the old naked), lady gaga eye shadow, urban decay shadows, Clinique
Drug store blush???
Dior blush, overhyped or just right?
UK makeup trends….
Do lashes make you look prettier, or older?
Cutest brand ever: beauty bakerie, too faced, and baddie b lashes, Kylie, Huda, color pop, kaja, and
Marc jacobs coconut line was everything
Mac fix plus, overhyped? Urban decay… testing overhyped setting sprays and popular makeup gripping primers
Hyped skin care that’s worth it vs not worth it, essence, elemis, fresh toner, Michellar water, beauty makeup removers
Nikki tutorials glitters
Are Mac eyeshadows overhyped?
Orange packaging makeup, good or bad
Target beauty products I hate
Testing Revolution
Testing KKW testing Arianna beauty
KKW fragrance reviews
Jackie sims candles, jeffreee star, Jaclyn hill, influencer makeup James Charles, Tati, Nikki’s tutorials, beauty bay, mmmitchell,
Fave bath products: Kylie, tea tree oil
Fave candles with candle warmer
Are we steaming our bed sheets
Staying inspired with beauty and slow TLC and cleanse
The best brow products vs overhyped

bathroom - marcus lee, abigail
Tumblr media
Marcus Lee Werner
How does the character prepare in the morning? “Prepare” suggests Marcus Lee has any kind of routine. Marcus Lee tends to roll out of bed, shuffle into the kitchen for his first cup of iced coffee of the day, chat to Tabby if she’s awake or scroll through social media, and then bound up the stairs to get dressed. Somewhere in there, he’ll also eat breakfast. The only constant in his life is coffee. Do they sing in the shower? Very often and very loudly. He used to be worse when he was sharing a house with all his friends, he’d sing Best Song Ever at the top of his lungs constantly.  What kind of hair product/make-up do they use? The only thing Marcus Lee puts in his hair other than shampoo and conditioner is dye. He bleaches and dyes his hair all the time. He stopped for a while during his modelling stint and they had him grow it out a bit, but now that he’s back home he’s back to going to the hairdresser regularly for hair cuts and different colours. He’s currently red again for Christmas.  How clean is this character? Marcus Lee’s room isn’t the most tidy, but since he shares it with Tabby he always makes sure that the mess doesn’t get out of control. But they also have dogs that will eat things left on the floor when Marcus Lee and Tabby leave the house. Other than that, he’s a pretty tidy guy. Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials? Marcus Lee is obsessed with Lush. He blames Tabby (she used to work there) for introducing the place to him. The shower is full of shower gels and random hair care samples, and the drawers are full of bath bombs.
Tumblr media
Abigail Carter
How does the character prepare in the morning? Abi has a pretty standard morning routine. She’ll get up and immediately make coffee for herself; Dominic usually goes out for coffee before work. Then she’ll sit around at the kitchen island, scroll through the internet until she gets bored/finishes her coffee, and then she’ll jump in the shower. Afterwards, she’ll do her morning skincare, grab some fruit for breakfast and head out the door for work. If she’s not working at the bakery that morning, she’ll let her hair air dry and make herself a decent breakfast. Do they sing in the shower? Abi doesn’t sing often, but she likes the way her voice sounds in their bathroom so she’ll occasionally sing along to her Spotify. What kind of hair product/make-up do they use? Although she isn’t much of a make up person, especially due to her work, Abigail owns a decent amount of makeup. Dominic always buys her fancy shit for her birthdays or Christmas and she doesn’t want to turn down his gifts so she has piles of Natasha Denona, Urban Decay, Too Faced and Huda Beauty palettes that she’s barely touched. When she is doing her everyday makeup, she tends to do something simple; light coverage foundation, basic eyeshadow and liner, a bit of blush and a nude lip. However, if she’s going out on the town or a date or the likes, she’ll go a bit harder. That’s when the palettes get their most use. As for hair products, Abigail tends to blow-dry her hair in the mornings before work, so she makes sure to keep her hair healthy with serums and oils. How clean is this character? She’s not particularly a neat freak, but Abigail is much tidier than her brother. Dominic brought home a Roomba once and Abi laughed for hours when it broke a few days later.  Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials? Due to Abi destroying her hair with heat, she’s always on the lookout for the best products for it. Therefore, the bottom of the shower is packed with half used bottles of shampoo and conditioner. She also has a shelf for all of her shower gels, razors and other bits and pieces.
SEND ME A CHARACTER NAME + A ROOM, AND I’LL TELL YOU MY HEADCANONS:

I really don’t understand all the criticism around the whole Huda Beauty/Beauty Bakerie fiasco. Sure, I’ll buy that Huda copied BB when they did the PR campaign for their baking powder. Maybe they did, I could totally see that. BUT everyone keeps saying the whole HB line is desert and middle eastern themed, and it just.... isn’t. The only product that’s overtly desert or Middle East themed is the Desert Dusk palette.
Huda herself obviously is Middle Eastern and her social media promotes and supports a lot of ME culture and people. But her line and brand identity aren’t ME or desert themed. She’s got a rose gold palette, a line of fake lashes, two lines of liquid lipsticks, lip liners, and foundations... none of that is desert-themed. NOW, if we want to go into the foundation line specifically, that’s not desert themed... it is however, dessert themed. Every shade in that range is named after a dessert. And yet people are saying a baking powder with shades named after baked goods is off-brand...
But really to say she’s going totally against-brand here by bringing out a baking powder and doing a baking themed PR campaign is wild to me. It’s a mischaracterization of the brand, and tbh I think it’s really projecting some weird  and uncomfortable shit onto Huda as a person and a brand.

Here's beauty bakerie flour setting powder:
Tumblr media
Shade names: rice, oat, cassava, plantain, almond, cacao, and Himalayan (which I don't think existed at launch. Pink setting powder is a newer trend)
This is huda easy bake:
Tumblr media
Shade names: sugar cookie, pound cake, cupcake, banana bread, blondie, kunafa, cinnamon bun, coffee cake, peach pie, and cherry blossom (which I know Cherry blossom is a newer shade. I'm not sure how many of these shades existed at launch)
Where is the copying at?
Does anyone remember when Jeffrey Star accused Huda of copying Beauty Bakery because Huda came out with a setting powder called easy bake?
That was so dramatic. Nothing was similar except using a baking joke, and everyone was using a makeup technique called baking in that time period.

The Instagram Makeup Community is Classist and Exclusionary.
The entire world is becoming more of a rich kids’ club. Things that are seen as normal, as having the bare minimum, are things that the majority of people cannot afford. The biggest example of this is the Instagram makeup community and the influencers who run it. Huda Kattan has the entire community in a headlock, but she steals ideas from smaller companies that don’t have her level of influence or her financial levity. (Easy Bake was ripped off of the Beauty Bakerie’s products, all the way down to the packaging and marketing campaign. The business is also owned by black women so once again...) It’s almost impossible to get promoted by her without using her products, even though she portrays herself as being an equal opportunity type of person. The people who get the most attention are the girls who have the money to buy the expensive products and can afford to use all of instagram’s features to promote themselves. They have enough money to where the algorithm doesn’t seem to affect them. Lip fillers are almost a fucking requirement and I don’t know about you guys but I don’t have money to drop on plastic surgery just to promote my fucking art.
So to all you up-and-coming MUAs, PLEASE do not get discouraged. Just because you can’t seem to get clout on Instagram doesn’t mean you’re not good at what you do. We live in a society that values illusions and fakeness over what is real. Money talks and it talks loud. You are no less talented and no less beautiful just because you can’t afford high end products and plastic surgery. In fact, you’re even more talented because you can crank out killer looks with very minimal resources.
I know it can be disheartening. I know it hurts to feel like you can’t get ahead, to feel like you’ll never win a giveaway because you aren’t part of the clique and you don’t have thousands of followers. I know it’s frustrating to see a person blatantly rip off another company and make beacoup profit from it, especially when black-owned companies struggle enough as it is just to stay afloat after a second generation. I know it’s hard. But don’t let that stop you. Keep true to yourself and your craft and I promise you, it will work out. The road you’re going on is so much more rewarding, these girls get everything handed to them and you have to actually work. You don’t have that wealthy jumping off point or parents who will drop thousands of dollars to buy you whatever. But you know what? That might actually be an asset to you.

Lockdown log. Day forty-two.
Managed to do an online food shop. Was not easy; tesco had no slots left, sainsburys are not delivering unless you are a vulnerable person and Asda had few slots left. Went with Asda in the end as they had one at 9-10am on saturday morning which actually suits quite well. Didnt manage to get everything but got most. Will see what actually comes though. Also did washing and washed my makeup brushes. Hate doing it but love having clean brushes! Then this afternoon an exciting delivery came!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My cult beauty order! So I ordered a huda diamond balm, a huda matte lipstick and an IT moisturizer. The moisturizer was a lot more than I would usually spend but I just thought treat yo self! And so were the lipstick and balm but its may, it's my birthday month, and we we are stuck in lockdown so fk it. Nice little treat for me. The diamond balm is lush, made my lips feel soft plus it made them sparkly which is always a plus in my book!
Tumblr media
The lipstick is good, love the colour! It doesn't stay on that well but I am a bit of a snob due to the staying power of Beauty Bakerie (best for lipstick!) But it doesn't bleed which is good times. Cant wait to wear it as the colour is exactly what I was looking for. I haven't used the moisturizer yet but I did get 2 few samples which I used tonight. A cleanser which did take off all my makeup really easily: only using 2 cotton pads instead of the usual 4) but smelt like cucumber (yuck) and felt a bit sticky. The other one was a moisturizer which I liked a lot, it was a gel one so I was a dubious but it left my face feeling smooth and a little does a long way!
Tumblr media
Tonight's tea was honey garlic prawn stir fry which was really nice. David managed to throw the sauce all over himself and one of the cushions though *sigh*. We did do a walk before tea today. Lovely day. And we made some plans for mamas birthday tomorrow. Looking forward to calling her in the morning!
