pronouns in alternian!

so 8asically i just. in my canon(s) pronouns in alternian were complicated as shit and 8ased on 8lood color. im gonna explain it in more detail, out of quirk for reada8ility. (theyre written in the format of he/him/his)

1. pronouns by caste

each caste had their own pronouns, with the exception of fuchsia - fuchsiabloods were to be referred to as the alternian equivalent of “your majesty” (or the highblood or seadweller pronouns if you were close enough to them, depending on preference) in addition, there was a hemoanon pronoun set (on grey in the picture), but it was rarely used, and if so mostly by lowbloods. any individual could also use pronouns associated with lower castes, but often this was a bad decision as itd mean people would assume you were lower on the hemospectrum, resulting in worse treatment.

2. pronouns by bloodcolor

sorted into rustbloods (burgundy and bronze), greenbloods (lime, olive, and jade), bluebloods (teal, cerulean, and indigo), and purplebloods (purple and violet). again, an individual could also use any pronouns lower than their place on the hemospectrum.

3. pronouns by low/mid/high status

seperated into lowbloods (burgundy to lime), midbloods (olive to cerulean) and highbloods (indigo to fuchsia). it was an unspoken rule that you should not use lower pronouns than your own in this category, but some trolls would regardless.

4. pronouns by land/sea

landdwellers and seadwellers also had seperate pronouns. seadwellers would under no circumstances ever use landdweller pronouns, unless covering up their identity.

5. using pronouns for others

if talking about another troll, you would often use the most relevant set - if i was talking about my friend who got culled by a highblood, i would use the midblood pronouns a/ar/a, or if i was talking about how a violetblood i know was annoyed with the pollution of the sea, i would use the seadweller pronouns zae/zae/zae. if i was talking about the burgundyblood i saw being culled by a troll who wanted to use their blood for art, i would use the burgundy pronouns bu/bul/bur.

let's give some love to hskin who aren't really kin, but are fictives.

i have seen you be patient and gentle with so many uneducated and curious people who could, really, just google what they're asking you, but they ask anyway, and you typically respond with politeness and summarize a very specific existence very quickly.

to those of you who have stopped explaining, either because you are tired, impatient, unequipped or would really prefer that people remember search engines exist, that's okay. it's not your job to explain your mental health every time you sit down or message someone who hasn't heard of it before.

brief rundown:

im gamzee

im 20 years old & white

i’m a fictive in a multiple system (i front very frequently, though)

i use they/them pronouns

i’m from a timeline that diverges from canon right around when we get to the meteor

i’m most looking for karkat, terezi, and tavros but tbh i’m down to meet any beta trolls

okay with doubles

my other big interests are splatoon, drop out, the mountain goats, horror as a genre, and pet care (mostly rodents and reptiles) and i really want to meet other people with these interests too!!

my memories are pretty vague but here’s what i remember and am pretty sure of under the cut

terezi and i were v good friends like, the kind of friends who scream at each other and dare each other to do weird shit for fun? we talked a lot esp before the game, like, i was never into flarping but we would hang out and play imagination games as kids. i will mention that i know A Terezi who is also a fictive in a friend’s system, she’s not very active but if that would stress you out that’s something to keep in mind. 

karkat was one of my oldest friends i think and its sort of hard to talk about because. i remember feeling sort of... like he didnt care about me all that much and idk how much if it was justified and how much was just, me being borderline and generally unhappy. that said i’m not gonna blame any Currently Existing Karkats for that and i miss, talking to him 

tavros was someone i feel like i started hanging out with a little later and being really close to during the game? like when we were younger we did other stuff but after the uh, flarp clusterfuck (as it were) he was getting into other interests, mostly gaming and i thiiink he did online rp as well? also music and slam poetry. idr how we met but i had a Big Ol Crush on him that i don’t think went anywhere. i also am pretty sure he died in my timeline and it was, very upsetting for me

also there’s nobody i Won’t Interact With from the beta trolls (a lot of the alphas make me uncomfortable though, sorry) but the vriska in my timeline did a lot of really upsetting shit and i get that she was also a traumatized kid and again it’s not something i really hold against all vriskas but it’s something i feel i should mention

facts about me: i was a very Weird Kid and i didn’t make a lot of friends i think partly because a lot of people my age were just. scared of me on account of being a purple blood (which like, i get, but it still sucked) i didn’t generally hang out with other blues and purples except for followers of the messiahs bc they were the only ones who really tolerated me i think? i’m pretty similar to canon pre-game gamzee i think... most of my memories are of being alone and dissociating lmao
