Okay, I blame @maleliddell for making me think about this, but...this Lunar New Year marks the year of the Dragon, right? And the thought occurred to me that Charlie would be so disappointed if it turned out he was not born in the year of the Dragon, so I looked it up. And when I did, I found out something that just cracks me up.
Charlie was born in 1972...year of the Rat. As in Percy's-pet-Scabbers Rat.
Tumblr media
So yeah, definitely sad Charlie, knowing he wasn't born in year of the Dragon. But to rub some salt into the wound, you want to know which Weasley was born in the year of the Dragon?
PERCY.
Tumblr media
Yes. The least outdoorsy, hot-tempered, and wild of all of the Weasleys was born in 1976, a year associated with Charlie's favorite magical creature. Sorry, I just find that absolutely hysterical. 😂
(The other Weasleys' Chinese zodiac signs under the cut, just for kicks!)
Arthur ~ 1950 ~ Year of the Tiger
confident, brave, magnetic, idealistic, thrill-seeking, arrogant, selfish; symbolizes bravery
Molly ~ 1949 ~ Year of the Ox
diligent, gentle, hardworking, reliable, patient, materialistic, stubborn; symbolizes diligence
Bill ~ 1970 ~ Year of the Dog
helpful, honest, trustworthy, unselfish, pessimistic, anxious, timid; symbolizes protection
Charlie ~ 1972 ~ Year of the Rat
ambitious, charming, talkative, resourceful, private, frugal, critical; symbolizes wisdom
Percy ~ 1976 ~ Year of the Dragon
outspoken, energetic, generous, intelligent, perfectionistic, egocentric, impatient; symbolizes authority and good fortune
Fred and George ~ 1978 ~ Year of the Horse
amusing, enthusiastic, independent, persuasive, irresponsible, moody, opportunistic; symbolizes indomitable spirit
Ron ~ 1980 ~ Year of the Monkey
entertaining, intelligent, optimistic, sociable, fickle, secretive, unpredictable; symbolizes cunning
Ginny ~ 1981 ~ Year of the Rooster
adventurous, charitable, funny, loyal, argumentative, boastful, self-involved; symbolizes punctuality and fidelity

First year Harry Potter: Mr. Sean, what is your favorite food?
Seventh year Sean, deadpan: Children.
Penny: Sean Ames, stop saying that to the first years!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill: If anyone has any questions, ask me.
Barnaby: If a bear and a shark had a fight, who would win?
Bill: ... If anyone has any RELEVANT questions, ask me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bryn: [casually taking four stairs at a time]
Merula, falling behind: Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fu-
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben: *puts a cup down over a spider*
Tulip: *appears; smiles; puts 2 more cups down beside Ben’s*
Ben: Come on, Tulip, please no, don’t… DON’T—
Tulip: *starts shuffling the cups*
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R: we have your Brother.
Hecate: Which one?
R: What?
Hecate: Which brother?
R: Redheaded, won’t shut up...strange obsession with the effects of long term Transfiguration...
Hecate: Oh that's Sean! Yeah you don't have him, he has you.
Kit, cheerfully: Good luck!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Professor Dumbledore: I hope you three have a good explanation for this
Jae: We have four actually-
Fred and George: Pick your favorite!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charlie: Remember! Curiosity killed the cat!
Tonks: Yes, but you forget that satisfaction brought it back. So yes, Fred and George, go find out if that thing can catch fire!
Charlie: You're a bad influence.
Tonks: And you don't know your sayings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angelica: Word of advice, new kid, watch out for Felix.
Kit: *nervous* Why? Is he... unfriendly or something?
Angelica: No - well, sort of, actually - but that's not what I mean. I mean actually watch out for him. He's constantly falling asleep on the floor
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben: Hecate, I’m afraid.
Hecate: Just stay close to Ismelda
Ben: That's why I’m afraid.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Badeea: Wow, it's really quiet today.
Talbott: Agreed... It's quite nice actually.
Badeea:
Talbott:
Badeea: We should check on Tulip.
Talbott: Urgently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill: Seriously, Sean, how many people would you have killed if I’d asked you to?
Sean: That’s not important
Bill: I DISAGREE.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Penny: I think Victor is in trouble.
Chiara: Alright. Struggling to give a fuck, if I’m honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonks: Sorry Jae. I panicked.
Jae: So you pushed me out the window?!
Tonks: it seemed like the fastest way out!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sean onstage with the Weird Sisters: This next song goes out to the girl on the broom who keeps yelling. It’s called, ‘We Hate You Please Die.’”
Merula: Great! A song for me!

You know as I wait and hope my power and water come back on, let's brainstorm on what the twins can do for the Cardverse AU!
Taking their occupation as joke shop owners within canon, their main job within the Jokers is running the gift shop. Though they are also inspired to become the next Jokers once Tulip and Tonks have finally decided to pass on the mantles. I'm not really into the idea of them being apprentices to the current ones since Tonks and Tulip have their own way of doing things and so do the twins. Though maybe it could work but Tonks and Tulip usually let them learn and act on their own
If you got any ideas to add for the twins I'd be happy to hear them!

I live for this
MC staying at the burrow for the school holidays
The younger siblings were so excited to meet MC after hearing so many stories about them from Bill and Charlie
Ron and Ginny fight over who gets to hold MC's hand
Fred and George idolize MC’s rulebreaking habits they follow MC around the burrow asking MC to teach them their ways
Percy didn't like hearing that
Percy and MC play wizards chess together
Ron likes to watch them play
Charlie and MC play Quidditch together and get madly competitive
Bill has to separate them both (Ginny & twins giggling in the background)
MC and Bill were always found in the mornings before breakfast sitting under a tree talking (Mrs Weasley always smiled at the sight of this)
Charlie would go get them when breakfast was ready
Ginny loved having another girl in the house
Mr Weasley always wanted to hear about his sons and MC’s curse breaking adventures

in my expanded Hogwarts Mystery fics, there is one theme that i particularly love to write about and it's the fond relationship between Cassidy and Percy
by the time Percy comes to Hogwarts, he keeps hearing great stories about Cassidy Mercury who protects the school from the dangerous Cursed Vaults. also she's one of the best students in her age, good friends with his two older brothers and later, she becomes a prefect.
so naturally he looks up to her.
but Cassidy wins his loyalty on one thing and that is because she saved him from Rakepick in Year 5 and 6. you read that right, Cassidy saved his life twice.
at this point, she has become like a big sister figure for him. she doesn't brush him off because he's younger, but she sits down and listens to him. she pays attention to him. she respects his opinions and doesn't make fun of him.
for example, when they first met in Year 5;
Percy: We haven't been properly introduced...I'm Percy Weasley, future Gryffindor Prefect, Head Boy and eventual Minister of Magic. Cassidy: Sounds like you have your entire life planned out. :)
we know that the Weasley siblings would poke fun at Percy for saying that, but Cassidy doesn't and respects his ambitions. she has treated him like an equal since day 1 and that's why she won Percy from the beginning.
in-game, they have gone even on adventures with Percy. like when the twins disappeared in Year 6 and we're looking for them with Percy who is, understandably really worried (caused there is a dangerous Cursed Vault at the works!) and even ventures into the Forbidden Forest with Cassidy.
and in the sidequest where there is a party in the Borrow while the parents are away on business, Percy choses to lie (it's a white lie to spare Charlie and the others from trouble) when their mum asks them if there were any trouble.
Percy: It's true! I even organized your sock drawer! (when Molly asked if it was true everyone did chores and did not do anything suspicious)
also when finding out that dark artefacts were moved to the Ministry, Cassidy goes to find Percy (and Tulip, but she isn't really fond of talking about the Ministry). the minute Cassidy asked for Percy's expertise, this is the first time we see him so openly happy and excited.
Cassidy Mercury (the MC): Tulip, Percy. I need you to tell me everything you know about the Ministry of Magic headquarters. Percy (excitedly): Merlin's bread, where do I begin?!
clearly, Cassidy trusts his judgement and knowledge more than well enough to ask him about his input and Percy becomes to happy about being important enough to be asked for his expertise. that is really heartwarming.
not to mention in that same scene, Percy agrees to help Cassidy break into the fucking Ministry because she helped him finding Fred and George.
and in my stories, Rakepick actively manipulates and endanger Percy because of his Seer abilities (yes, Percy has strong Seer powers in my fanfics, but he's not strong enough for a full prophecy). he has a bigger role in my HM stories since Rakepick is more villainous and she ends up using Percy as a leverage to get to Bill, Charlie and Cassidy.
the section below is spoilers for year 6 in my HPHM fanfiction
[in one of my fanfic stories (during Year 6), Rakepick takes him as hostage to the Forbidden Forest. Percy had, by this point, become used as a tool to "predict" the future of Rakepick and the Cursed Vaults. his Seer power (which Percy has named as "foresight") isn't strong enough for a full prophecy and Rakepick decides to use him as a bait for the Cursed Vaults.
back at the castle when the gang is preparing to infiltrate the meeting Rakepick is having with 'R' in the forest, they find out from Oliver Wood that Percy has gone missing and his "rat" is acting weird as in full panic. Cassidy then realizes that there is a connection between Percy's terrified behavior for the past months and quickly deductes that Rakepick has him.]
Cassidy saved Percy's life twice and she has promised him that no matter what happens to her or in the future, she will always return to save him. so his feelings about Cassidy is nothing but pure love and loyalty, like how a younger brother sees his big sister. with Cassidy in the picture, Percy is no longer the odd one out in his family (where everyone are paired with someone except him).
in my Wizard Archivist series, the theme of their friendship is especially in focus because Cassidy is, since before the HP book events starts, locked in a hellscape world beyond the real Cursed Vault and Percy struggles to re-open that vault to bring her home with risk for his own life. '
conclusion? Percy genuinely loves Cassidy, as if it was his big sister and she has always been there for him, wheather it's saving his life or just listening to him rambling. it's an innocent and pure love. Cassidy, who is the younger sister to Jacob and has no younger siblings, adores him in the same way.
in a way, Cassidy became a substitiute when Bill and Charlie were too busy with their lives and a source of unconditional love for Percy.
and the kicker is when Cassidy came to save him the first time, she had just smiled and told him that everything would be alright because she was there now.
thanks for coming to my TED talk about Percy and his inofficial "big sis" role model Cassidy Mercury

Our Time To Bloom
Chapter 7: The Serch Bythol
Tumblr media
<Previous Chapter  - All Chapters - Masterlist
Summary: Two months after the war, the couple is more distant than ever. Kate  accompanies her grandfather on a trip to Ireland, where her past and  present will collide in unexpected ways. Charlie stays in Romania with a decision to make: will he follow her and uncover all unsaid things? Romance/Drama /Mystery
Rating: Mature
Pairing: Charlie Weasley/Kate Williams (hphm mc, original female character) established relationship
7th, July, 1998
Hours later, after dropping off Kate at the station, Charlie perched himself against a wooden fence at the dragon sanctuary. Lost in thought, he observed as Soule, an older Romanian Longhorn, stretched its wings in the air. The dragon flew in circles, pirouetting through the clouds with the bravest birds joining in its dance.
What a coward you have been, mate, not to join in. And what a fool! You wanted to go! You still do... Bernard has both great humour and profound wisdom, maybe he was the right person to talk to. If you want to talk... Simply trying to pronounce Fred’s name out loud makes your throat close up.
Soule walked past the Sun creating his silhouette in the wind for an instant.
A twinge in his knee made him hiss, and suddenly the smell of smoke invaded his nostrils.
‘It’s normal in the sanctuary,’ he reminded himself, but he couldn’t help but find himself on Hogwarts’ ground, lying on the stones and feeling that same smell.
He clung tightly to the fence, unable to move. The image of the man appearing out of the fire, distorted, only his silhouette visible when lit from behind, slipped into his mind without permission. He had hit him in the knee, fortunately, but at that moment, helpless on the ground, he knew the stranger would not miss a second time.
He struggled to steady his breathing and with difficulty set his sights on the mountains in the distance. He imagined waterfalls and rivers, crystal-clear lakes and the reflection of clouds in their waters, paths overlooking the valley, patches of flowering bushes.
He managed to shake off the vision of his near-death by trying to imagine himself flying, soaring through the skies on a dragon. With the wind in his face and breathing clean air, seeing the world disappearing and getting smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller...
“You’re making my dragons nervous...”
A light tap on the shoulder accompanied the voice, which was just enough to make Charlie flinch and turn away from Sonia, bringing his hand to his hip unconsciously reaching for his wand.
“Sorry.” She said with sincerity in her eyes before leaning against the fence.
Charlie brought his hand to his hair, briefly massaging his head and undoing the small ponytail he wore. He leaned back against the wood next to his group leader.
They both stood in silence for a while, just watching the sky. Charlie’s heart started beating normally again, and he was able to take a deep breath. Still, he brought his hand to his opposite arm and started stroking his inner elbow with his thumb.
“Nervous?” Sonia asked without looking at him. “The lists go out the day after tomorrow.” She added at the look she saw out of the corner of her eye.
“A little.”
“The grant is yours, I have no doubt. And Razvan’s too. You are both very capable.” She said with a small smile.
“We’ll see if the folks at Apuseni feel the same way.”
“I’m sure they will.”
Absently, Charlie continued to make circles on his skin.
“Cool tat,” Sonia commented, looking at the pale skin on his arm. “I haven’t seen it on you before.”
“Oh...” He pulled his hand away to reveal the symbol he wore inked in black. “We only got it done last year...”
Sonia raised her eyebrows.
“Kate and I.”
“Damn. That’s bold. I don’t think I could get matching tattoos with a boyfriend. It’s usually contraindicated.” She laughed, coaxing a small smile from Charlie.
“Yeah, well, they’re not permanent. The guy who did it to us can take them off, too.” It dawned on Charlie that this was the first time anyone had noticed the symbol he was wearing, and that no one but Kate knew of its existence. Not even Razvan.
He moved a little closer to her, extending his left arm so she could see better, and began to follow the lines with his pinky.
“It is, in theory, a Celtic symbol made of two Trinity knots flipped to the side and fused together.” He traced the intricate lines from the horizontally pointing tips to the central circle. “The three points of the knots represent the soul: mind, body and spirit, as well as the circle of life. The two knots maintain their individuality, but when intertwined, they create a perfect circle, symbolising the endless unity between two souls.” He recited as he had been told. He focused on the dragons again, less solemn, remembering with a smile the tale they were told when that man was tattooing Kate.
“It’s really just one interpretation, there’s no factual information about it that we know,” he chuckled" but we loved that story so much we adopted it as our own."
When Sonia didn’t comment on it, he kept going,
“It’s called a Serch Bythol. In Celtic Welsh language, serk means Love, and beeth-ohl means everlasting.”
“I wouldn’t have imagined in a million years that you two were corny as hell!” They shared a laugh at her teasing. Charlie was grateful that she took the weight out of his words.
“Oh, come on, be easy on me, boss, I’m opening my heart for you here.” He said half-joking.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” They chuckled again, watching as Soule landed on a tree. “I don’t suppose you got it one night completely smashed in some dude’s basemen…”
“No! Of course not!” He laughed.
“Right…”
“No, we…” he tapped it again absent-mindedly, “it was purely for practical reasons, I assure you.”
He stared at the black ink, praying for it to stay black.
“When the other is in danger, it glows red.”
A look of understanding erased the smirk on Sonia’s eyes. She avoided his stare, focusing on the landscape ahead.
“I always wondered how you knew… That you had to leave Romania that day.”
It scared me so much, the way it burned, he thought. I didn’t know where she was until I received her letter. It didn’t have an envelope or a seal. I couldn’t even recognise her handwriting.
He nodded.
A moment of silence passed between them and left Charlie contemplating his future, his plans. Seeing Soule come down from the sky to take a nap by the rocks made him realise he wasn't meant for anything else. This was the life he hoped for in his teens, and the life he wanted to cultivate. If not dragons, what else? But did it need to be in Romania?
These mountains were his dream since he was a child and he was comfortable here, perhaps too much. He wondered if leaving this place, this group of people he could now call friends would feel like a betrayal. To them and himself.
But then he thought of her.
She had worked as hard as him to get into St Mungo’s hospital as a mere apprentice. And she left for him. To follow him here. She got far as a healer in Bucharest’s hospital. And she left for a cause she believed in. She had been offered a position as a herbology teacher once. And she declined for the same reason.
Maybe it was time to return the favour.
Perhaps, after the Apuseni program, if he was chosen to go, it could be the last thing Romania could offer him and that dream he had as a child wasn’t the end of the line but the beginning.
Before the war, they hadn’t discussed much about their plans for a future away from this place, they both had secure positions, a home and they were content with that. He never dared to dream further from that.
Then the war happened, and they were forced to do things they never imagined they could be capable of. And that tranquil life they had shattered along with their possibilities.
Now that it was over, he thought, after everything that they went through, it was time for new dreams.
Kate was in the picture, he used to be sure of it. Now, he hoped.
“Sonia…”
“Hm?” She began putting on her fireproof gloves.
“May I get… some time off?”
The dragon tamer stared at him with an unreadable expression. She seemed to be registering his question as confusion appeared on her face.
“You shouldn’t. Not right before the program starts.”
“After that, it may be too late.” She kept silent and continued to secure her gear. “I think,” he insisted, “I could catch up later, I’m sure. I’m a fast learner. Two weeks tops.”
“Two weeks!”
“Sonia, please. I never take breaks, you know this. I never even quit when all of that happened,” he added, referring to the war. She sighed.
“I know. I just don’t want you to lose this opportunity.”
“I won’t.”
She thought for a moment and then clicked her tongue. “At least stay until the first day.”
“Of course!”
“Hey!”
Both dragonologists turned at the sound of Razvan’s voice, who flew towards them with a frown.
“Am I the only one who works around here or what? We’re supposed to start the scouting in three minutes!”
“Yes,” Sonia added with a nod towards Charlie, “let’s go.”
--
Muddy and sweaty, Charlie apparated in front of his house after an afternoon in the forest. He took off his boots before entering the cabin and made his way to the bathroom for a warm and much needed shower.
After cleaning himself, he stepped out of the bathtub in time to hear scratches on the other side of the door.
“Just wait a moment, Grimoire!”
Charlie imagined the condescending expression of Kate’s cat as it sat in their bedroom.
He opened the door with a towel around his hips just so the animal would stop the assault at the door.
“When Kate’s not here, you become an insufferable pain in the ass.” He accused, changing into a shirt and tracksuit bottoms. Grimoire mewled, clearly letting him know that the sentiment was mutual.
After satiating both appetites, Charlie left the cabin and, using a ladder, checked the rooftop for any sign of Whiskey.
He found the owl sound asleep in the small wooden house he had built for him. The redhead frowned and checked his watch. It was late.
While climbing down, he reminded himself that it meant nothing that Kate hadn’t sent a letter. She was probably having fun with her grandpa. Right?
“Yes. She arrived safe and sound.” He said to Grimoire as he entered again.
He made his way to the kitchen counters, hoping that the routine of putting a kettle on would calm his nerves. He instantly felt better as soon as the tea touched his lips, but the nervousness of what would he say to her and, most importantly, how would she react to seeing him there, remained.
Stopping the spiralling train of thought, he gasped.
Her birthday!
He used to be more thoughtful than that, he thought, but the stress of the war and going back to tons of work at the reserve had left him with no energy to think about presents.
The incorporation to the Apuseni program, if that ever happened, would leave him no time to search for something appropriate. He only had tomorrow to figure it out.
Against all odds and without warning, Grimoire jumped on the seat next to him and, tentatively, rested his head on Charlie’s thigh.
“I know,” he sighed, scratching behind the cat’s ear, “I miss her too. You’ll be fine here on your own? I guess you must. Razvan will come, you know him, to check on you.”
He paused, sipping his tea.
“I don’t even know where to start with her…”
He would get to… Cobh? But where exactly? And even if he found her, how would he manage to put in order the things he should say?
Eyeing the coffee table, he saw some random papers scattered around. With a flick of the wrist, a quill and inkwell floated towards him as he set the cup down. With a determined breath, he started writing.
My dearest,
I don’t know if I will have the courage to show you this letter. Maybe I’ll burn it after I’m finished, maybe I will hide it until I’m ready, or maybe I will be able to speak my mind to your face. You deserve as much, and so much more.
My heart stings every time I come home at night. I watch the lights on the tower where you hide from me and I feel as a failure for not being able to reach you. You’ve closed your mind, only to me? Do I hurt you so that you’ve kept your thoughts to yourself?
I talk to Razvan sometimes, about you and I, about what happened, about Fred if my voice doesn’t betray me. He listens, he tries, and I’m grateful to have found a little solace in his friendship, but he is not the person I burn to reconnect with again.
I miss my best friend, my companion.
Is it because I remind you of your own brother, Jacob, that you can’t find it in your heart to speak to me?
I hear you cry some nights. I know about your nightmares. Often I hold you, selfishly hoping you will wake and hug me back. I don’t know what haunts your dreams, I can imagine, but it feels strange in my stomach that you can’t trust me how you used to.
I guess I’ve been guilty of that too, but for different reasons. There is no one else I would trust with my life but you, but I’m afraid I’ve become a burden to you. I find it difficult to know where I stand, where the limits are, how I should act around you.
But I’ve learnt today, the hard way, after seeing you part from me for the umpteenth time and after observing the creatures that roam these mountains, that my approach has been completely off.
You are not a dragon. Never have been and never will. They come and go or they don’t, they can fly, spit fire, the most absolute chaos can burst in any second, destroying everything around them. To be on good terms with them again, you need to sit still and wait. Make yourself as little of a threat as possible.
But you, my love, you are a feline, and cats can sense when one is not confident enough to handle them. So they scurry away. A change of attitude it’s what’s needed or you’ll just see their tails as they leave the room.
All of this to say I hope you will forgive me.
Once I told you, as you lay in my arms, I whispered to you it would be only fair to follow where you lead.
And now I intend to keep my promise, because it was one, whether you know it or not.
Although I should have been quicker to say it,
I accept your offer, if you’ll have me, and I’ll reunite with you in Ireland if I manage to find where you are.
If after these weeks you still seek a life away from here without me, at least I’ll know that my last decision regarding you wasn’t a disappointment or one that I’ll regret.
But for all it’s worth, I want to start dreaming with you again.
With all the love I can possibly keep in my heart,
Charlie.
Tumblr media
Before folding the letter, and with utmost care, he drew with his quill a Serch Bythol at the end of the page, hoping she would understand the meaning behind it.
His heart felt lighter, somehow, having put into words his intentions and motives and, he realised as he lifted the quill, that he hoped for her to read it. When the envelope was closed, he placed a kiss on it.
With Grimoire’s head resting on his thigh and a steaming cup in hand, he stared out of the window, watching the trees sway with the wind. He took a deep breath and enjoyed for the first time in months a quiet afternoon in solitude.

A/N. A short one but very much needed, if anyone still cares :) It’s hard writing these days

40 & 49 pleasssseee
Also how is my Moonie doing? 🥺🫂🫂 I miss ya
I’m doing okay 🥺 miss you too 😭😭 how are you?
40. Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?
I do both! But in general I reread fics. Sometimes I read them, I loose them (🥲) and then maybe I find them again! And read them again. I’m more likely to read series’ just once but go back to my favorite chapters. Ok so in general I do reread. 😂
49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!
I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON MY LIFE-
I mean um…😅
I’ve got one Oliver Wood Oneshot turned Series coming up (because I love to make my life hard), some possible Talbott Winger action (from HPHM), and the part two of the Tadashi Hamada fic, and my Merlin fic (from Red Shoes). (and obviously there’s three trillion BTS fics in the works)
This is the best line I’ve written so far for the Oliver Wood fic:
“Wh-wha?” He splutters, sinking into the chair, eyes still on you. It was a normal Sunday breakfast in the Great Hall, but by Merlin’s beard, why- no how were you wearing his jumper??
“Flabbergasted, Wood?” George chuckled next to him, helping himself to a generous serving of bacon and Cherri Owls.
“Weasley-”
“You can thank us later,” Fred cut in, winking as he swallowed a gulp of his orange juice.
And from the Merlin fic:
“Alright, alright,” you sighed, putting your hands on your waist. “I thought maybe you guys could help me with this barrel but I guess not…”
“We may not be the Fearless Seven, but we’d be happy to help a beautiful lady like you, right Merlin?” It seemed Arthur had regained his confidence, eyebrows shooting up twice paired with a grin.
“Aw, my heroes,” you smiled, internally screaming. After you made sure the top of the barrel was screwed tight, two of them tilted it over. You were their eyes as they rolled the barrel forward and up Golden Goose Avenue. Near one of the side entrances, you asked them to stop.
“Where are you taking these, milady?” Arthur asked, pushing the barrel back upright.
“Leaving it here will be fine,” you looked up at the sign hanging above the door. “I think they’ll quite need it.” You glanced back at the two dwarfs, sending a genuine smile.
“Thanks for helping me out today, see you guys around yeah?” And with that, you pulled the green hood up past your ears, and vanished into the crowd.
I hope you guys liked the little sneak peeks!!

Cool, yes fuck JKR. I’m a fan of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery even though I haven’t played in months (college life) so a lot of my hcs have to do with the game
Look at my #harrypotternextgeneration tags to see all of my posts. Here are some of my hcs, I have a lot for the Delacour-Weasley and the Weasley-Potter cousins plus Teddy
Victoire Molly Weasley. Bill and Fleur didn’t have a first name until after she was born on May 2nd. Fleur was the one who wanted her middle name to be Molly because it’s a tradition in The Delacour family for the grandchildren to have their grandparents names as their middle names. Her best friends are Naomi Kim (daughter of Jae Kim and Tulip Karasu) and Anelia Krum ( Viktor Krum and his wife Petra’s daughter). Has love hate relationship with her birthday. Has three kids with Teddy, Remus William, twins Nymphadora Fleur and Apolline Hope.
Dominque Apolline Weasley. Major grandparents girl, like she would all listen to her grandparents growing up (this drove both Bill and Fleur insane). Unhinged gremlin and is an artist. When Teddy and Victoire announced their pregnancies she drew furry Mpreg of Teddy. When her siblings and cousins announce pregnancies she draws Mpreg of the men. James’ partner in crime but got closer to Molly II as they got older. As an adult she works as an artist and as Apolline care giver. She’s also Apolline favorite grandchild. Shes proud to be part Veela and will always be the first one to bring up that all Veelas are Bisexual.
Louis Arthur Weasley, he’s one of the first healthy male veelas to be born. He deals with a lot of toxic masculinity and is generally a prick. Has gotten beaten up by many times by the girls in his year. No one understands why he’s able to date Lizzy Caron, since why would she date a prick like him.
James, is very much like his name sakes and his Uncle Fred. He has his own group similar to his grandfather’s. "Is everyone ready?"
Cedric turned to the entire group setting up the greenhouse for a joyous occasion, courtesy of Clara for telling him beforehand. Cato, Dimitri, Roman, and Bill were all in the midst of decorating the cake on site with sliced fruits and berries, Roman setting homemade chocolate chip cookies on the edge of the giant silver platter the triple-tiered chocolate cake was set on. Katriona was watching Dawn and Hillary putting up strings of colourful lights, once in a while contributing to the process by blowing balloons and levitating them to the ceiling with the Levitation Charm. Fred, George, Lee, Angelina, and Alicia were also present, setting up the giant stack of gifts in another corner of the room.
"Fred, what did I tell you about putting Stink Pellets in the gift wrapping?" Sarahi inquired, pulling out an entire pouch of the prank from Dimitri and Skylar and Roman's gifts.
Fred's ears turned red. "Hey, I thought it was funny."
"No, it's not! No one wants to have their birthday go up in stink!" Dawn protested. "Has anyone seen the streamers?"
"They clash with the lights, don't they? I took them away," Clara responded, tying off a ribbon in the flower crown for the birthday girl. "The lights should be enough."
"No, you can't have a cookie yet, Skylar!" Dimitri hissed as he saw his sister trying to take one of the cookies off the platter. "Wait till the birthday girl arrives!"
Skylar sighed at her brother--how did she get caught? She simply shrugged and put the cookie back, tucking it in the stack.
"This should be good," Cedric said with a nod as the last of the balloons floated to the ceiling. "Remember, Professor Sprout will lead Em into the greenhouses. The code word is 'wiggentree'. Only then will you surprise her--not before! We don't want to spoil it too early!"
The older students nodded solemnly.
Angelina quickly poked her head out of the greenhouse in time now to see Professor Sprout walking towards them, and she waved her hand. "Assume positions, everyone!"
Immediately, everyone went to find someplace to hide. Clara, Cato, and Skylar ended up crouching by Fred, George, and Hillary, while Sarahi, Katriona, Dimitri and Roman ended up smushing elbows with the other first years. Angelina and Cedric ran back to the others just in time--Professor Sprout had lead Em into the Greenhouse now. One could see the tip of her old patched hat to recognize her anywhere.
"Now, what's the occasion here?" Professor Sprout questioned now, feigning surprise. "I thought I brought you in here to help me tend to a few sick Wiggentrees."
"Wiggentrees? But--"
"SURPRISE!"
Everyone jumped from behind the tables, big smiles on their faces and confetti raining down on Clara's cue. Instantly, Em turned to her friends and some of her sister's friends too, her jaw dropped in awe.
"Wait, you guys did all this?" she said. "All for me on my birthday?"
"Hey, you deserve it!" Katriona reassured her with a huge grin. "Besides, it's not everyday you get to celebrate a birthday at Hogwarts."
"And what better way to celebrate it than with friends and family?" Professor Sprout added with a smile. "I must admit, you all did a wonderful job with the decorations. Mr. Diggory and Miss Lin did a wonderful job with leading the charge."
"We hope you like the cake too," Cato said then. "It took us a while to find a good recipe for the occasion." He gave Bill a nod, and Bill simply beamed back--this might not have been Molly Weasley's homemade fudge, but hopefully it was close enough.
"Cake, and presents, and all this...thank you," little Em finally managed to say. "Thank you all."
"You're welcome, Em. Happy birthday," Clara finally said, giving her sister a big hug.

I AM 2 DAYS LATE ON THIS. I KNOW. And this is super rushed and I feel so bad and I am super sorry! But it's here, at least it's here. And yes, what better way to celebrate a birthday than with loved ones all around?

There was something about the pumpkin juice at Hogwarts that brought a smile to my face despite all that was happening. Perhaps it was the flavour of the drink, fresh in any temperature, or the bright orange colour that looked a bit like liquid fire. Whatever the case, it was something I wouldn't turn down for the world, even as things got bad.
And I knew things were about to get really, really bad.
I couldn't get Jacob's words out of my head, insistent as he told me to not get involved with he trouble he dragged our family into. The look on his face was enough for me to feel guilty, not only for him and his predicament, but for me and my reckless behaviour. If I dove too deep into this, they feared that I wouldn't surface again. I knew Jacob already took too deep of the plunge to even bother coming back up for air, but he couldn't control the people he took in tow. Clara was already caught on the line--what did it matter if I joined in? Even if I was just a first-year who knew only the most rudimentary stuff, I knew I had to help my siblings. Not knowing them well enough when I was younger was no excuse.
The sweet tang of the pumpkin juice coated my tongue as I swallowed it down, imagining it drowning down the worries and fears I had for my older siblings. I just hoped that neither of them suffered from horrible repercussions that could potentially arise.
"Oi, leave her alone, will you?" I heard someone pipe up from behind me. "The only reason she doesn't want to speak to you is because you've already injured her enough!"
I turned around now to see Dawn and Nora face Eunice and Travis with daggers in their eyes, eyebrows narrowed as they stared the two Slytherins down. What was going on here?
"It was just a lousy Flipendo," Eunice drawled. "I didn't ask for her to break her elbow."
"Does it matter? First her nose, then her elbow--not even Nora would hurt her intentionally!" Dawn cried. "Whatever trick you two have up your sleeves this time, we're not interested in seeing it. I'll even tell Professor Snape what you've been up just to stop you both from bullying anyone else."
"She's another source of disgrace!" Travis added on, not even sparing me a glance. "I'm surprised you two would rather roll around in 'cursed kid' scum. No thanks. We'd rather squash her out before she infests everyone with her disgusting--"
SMACK!
The resounding crack of cartilage made me blink as Nora's fist connected with Travis' nose, punching deep into his face. Blood slowly began to trickle out of his nostrils, the scarlet carving a path over his pale face; the sneer suddenly dropped, and his expression morphed into one of horror.
"You--you wouldn't--" Travis muttered wildly.
"Key word: intentionally," Nora repeated, eyebrows narrowing further. "Now scram before I do something even worse."
The two Slytherins didn't have to think twice. With one last horrified look at Nora, they turned on their heels and hightailed out of there.
"What did they want with me this time?" I asked Nora and Dawn then, wiping my mouth with my napkin as they sat down by the Hufflepuff table. "And why bother you two about it?"
"Your guess is as good as ours," Nora responded grimly, twisting her fist decisively against her robes. "I'd assume they'd want to pick a fight with you after hearing that you've learned and somehow perfected the Disarming Charm way before Professor Flitwick taught it to us."
"Though it did surprise us, I'll say that!" Dawn added. "How did you learn the Disarming Charm so quickly?"
I didn't tell anyone about my involvement with Clara's friends. Well, Nora saw me and Diego working together, and Hillary saw me with the Weasleys, but no one else knew much about the people I spend time with. I don't even think they know about the fact that I've attended a few of Bill's Defence Against the Dark Arts tutoring lessons sometimes.
"Diego taught it to me," I eventually replied. "He taught me while we were in the Duelling Club one night."
"Not to be rude, but...who's Diego?" Nora asked, tilting her head slightly at the name. "Not one of us first-years, right?"
"You mean Diego Caplan?" Dawn interjected. "He's one of the strongest duellers at Hogwarts! Not to mention he's good-looking. He's a sixth year Hufflepuff," she added to Nora, who only nodded in slight confusion and acknowledgement.
"And he's one of my sister's friends," I said. "They've been looking out for me quite a lot since the start-of-term feast. They've always had my best interest at heart."
"So that's who your sister introduced you to, then!" Nora finally realized. "No wonder you've already gotten quite a few friends."
"I can't always rely on them, though. They'll be graduating soon, and who would I be left with once they're gone?" I pointed out. "I'll admit, though, you guys are a good bunch to hang out with too."
"Aww!" Dawn gushed then, pulling me into a brief side hug. "I mean, why not? You're a student just like any of us. There's really no reason to treat you differently because of who your brother is."
For all the bullying and attacks that Eunice and Travis had beset on me, it was a relief to see that there were a lot of people who still cared about me and my well-being. I nodded and smiled at the two of them, a warm fuzzy feeling radiating within me. "Thank you both."
The two girls just smiled back as they grabbed a sandwich each, and we shared our dinner together that night.
---
As Halloween started to roll around, the excitement for the spookiest day of the year began to spark in bursts like heated embers by the fireplace. Professor Dumbledore eventually called on a few student volunteers to help with decorating for the season a few days prior, and not to my surprise, a lot of students actually signed on.
"You should join too!" Dawn encouraged me, pointing to the sign up sheet. "We need someone of your creative calibre, after all! I'm sure you'll do a great job leading us."
"This isn't like creating flower hairpieces, Dawn," I warned her. "I can make a few basic crafts, but to lead students into making them?"
"It should be cake!" Hillary chirruped beside me. "Please?"
"Not to mention, we'll even get to work with Hagrid's giant pumpkins!" Nora added. "And I bet we'll create some awesome Jack-O-Lanterns with your help!"
Next thing I knew, Dawn grabbed the quill and signed my name on the sheet before I could say anything, and everyone wheeled me into the Great Hall to help with the decorating process.
"Ahh, Miss Lin," Professor Dumbledore greeted me with a serene smile. "And I see your friends convinced you to help, is that right?"
"That's right, Professor!" Hillary agreed. "She's actually pretty talented with crafts."
"Then I see you'll be a wonderful asset to our team," Professor Dumbledore said with an approving nod. "Very well. You four can go take a seat over there, and we'll get started shortly."
I normally wasn't a fan of Halloween. When I was much younger, my mother once scared me with a banshee mask on her face and a short loud "boo!" that made me cry in fright. I was wary of scary faces from that point on, but here it seemed very different. There were no masks around, no scary faces to be pulled--just floating Jack-O-Lanterns and dark candles that Professor Flitwick levitated with the recently taught Levitation Charm, and a couple of streamers and banners for us to hang around the Great Hall. Everyone had different tasks to do--the younger students had the job of making the streamers and banners, while the older students handled the knives and carved the Jack-O-Lanterns. I remembered offering one of my designs to one of Clara's other friends who signed on--Liz, I think her name was--and in no time she and a boy sporting Gryffindor coloured face paint carved out the Hogwarts castle on the biggest pumpkin in the room.
"Whoa! That looks amazing!" I heard one of the Weasley twins suddenly exclaim behind me, and I turned to see the two of them grin at the giant Hogwarts castle silhouette on the giant pumpkin.
"Now that is what I call an impressive Jack-O-Lantern!" George agreed with Fred. "Who came up with the design for it, by the way?"
"I did," I said, waving a hand.
Now Fred beamed at me and shook my hand excitedly. "Well, I'll say, you got quite some potential!" he said.
"Right?! We all played a part in the decorating, but I think her Hogwarts pumpkin is going to be the ultimate highlight," Dawn said, joining us with a huge grin on her face. "If I had any say in this, I'd say she should start an arts and crafts club of her own."
"What?" At the sound of that, I shook my head. "Dawn, you can't be serious--"
"I'm serious! You can literally turn something into anything!" Dawn said. "Like your flowers--you can turn them into crowns! I've seen you do that in our dormitory a few nights ago. And you even turned a Sickle into a pendant--and a button into a charm--"
"I figured we could all use that kind of extracurricular," I nodded thoughtfully. "I mean, if everyone loves and appreciates that, I guess I can foster their interest in that."
Just then, I saw Sarahi enter the Great Hall with a few books in her arms. The moment she saw me, she quickly ran over to me.
"Em!" she called out.
I quickly waved her over just as she approached, a tired smile on her face. "Hello, Sarahi."
"I know I meant to reach out to you much earlier, but how are you doing?" she asked. "You know, with Eunice and Travis messing around with you and all."
"Managing," I managed to respond with a sheepish laugh. "I mean, at least they haven't had the urge to injure me again. A bloody nose and a fractured elbow is enough for me for one year. Let's just hope I don't get petrified next."
"Oh, yeah. I wouldn't want to think about the Petrification Curse either," Sarahi mumbled darkly.
"I just hope my sister and brother know what they're doing," I eventually said. "They recently just told me to have at least one normal year at Hogwarts. How can things be normal when they're pulling themselves deeper and deeper into danger every year? All I can do in the meanwhile is try to dodge Eunice and Travis every chance I get."
Beside me, Dawn wrapped an arm around me and squeezed my shoulder with a hand. Sarahi just nodded at the mention of my older siblings.
"Em, you know that when it comes to family matters...I'm not exactly the best person to turn to for advice," Sarahi said. "But know that when it comes to bullies, I'll protect you with everything I have. If I have to, I will Depulso Eunice and Travis into the sun, and I don't care how young they are. If they only act to hurt, that's not okay at all."
"Better than throwing a Dungbomb at them?" Fred countered, slightly disappointed.
"Lots of problems can be solved without Dungbombs, Fred," Nora warned him as she caught up to us. "And besides, I think we have gotten enough of your stinky pranks."
"Speak for yourself. Come Halloween, though..." George winked at Fred and chuckled. "You may have yet to see our first big heist."
"Oh, I'm looking forward to it, alright," Nora mumbled while everyone else laughed.
The sounds tumbling out of my mouth made my heart light again, and I thought back to the time I helped Hagrid with making rock cakes in his hut a few weeks ago. I had never really felt this happy since then. I suppose that was all a part of life--the happy times, the sad times, the scary times that would detach us from what we used to call 'normal'.
If only life was just as sweet as the pumpkin juice here. I wouldn't hesitate to drink it down every day if I had the option to.

"Break the rules, ignore the signs, And color way outside the lines! Go off the script -- do what you like! They hate it? They can take a hike! Why live your life to someone else's plan?! Stick it to the man!"
~"Stick It to the Man" from School of Rock (musical)

Easter had never been a holiday Carewyn Cromwell paid much attention to. Chocolate eggs, spring dresses, and Easter baskets were something her mother Lane could often not afford while Carewyn was growing up, and Carewyn expressed zero to no interest going on egg hunts with the Muggle kids in her neighborhood, not only because she knew her two favorite people -- Lane and Jacob -- wouldn't be able to come with her, but also many of those same children bullied Carewyn at school. Even at Hogwarts, the most Carewyn ever really did to mark the holiday was eat some of the handmade chocolate Bill, Charlie, Percy, and/or Fred and George would receive from their mother Molly -- perhaps because her boys would mention sharing her treats with their friends, Molly Weasley always went out of her way to send them a lot, so Carewyn couldn't help but associate Easter chocolate with the Weasleys despite herself.
Perhaps it was appropriate that Easter made Carewyn think of the Weasleys -- for it was not long after Hogwarts's Easter Break in the spring of 1996 that Carewyn was summoned to Fudge's office to settle a matter regarding that very family.
It was a rather abrupt sort of affair -- Carewyn had actually been ready to reassemble her current three files and put them back in their proper places in her file cabinet so she could head home when an inter-office memo from the Minister flew into her office, stamped as "urgent." It was very taciturn and to-the-point, insisting that Carewyn come upstairs to the Minister's office immediately.
Her brows furrowing as she discarded the memo, Carewyn shut her files as is up in her file cabinet, locked it, and got to her feet, adjusting the high black collar of her dress robes as she swept from her office over to the lift.
When she entered the Minister's office, Carewyn was startled to find more than just Cornelius Fudge there waiting. Standing over by the fireplace with her arms crossed and her toad-like face scrunched up impatiently was Dolores Umbridge and -- even more shocking -- sitting in one of the chairs with a cup of tea in his faintly shaking freckled hands was a familiar ginger-haired young man of 19 years wearing spectacles.
"Percy?" said Carewyn in surprise.
Percy looked up at Carewyn when she entered, haphazardly putting down his cup of tea on the coffee table as he stumbled to his feet.
"Carewyn? What is -- ?"
"Close the door, please, Miss Cromwell," said Fudge in an oddly stiff voice. "I'd prefer privacy, for this meeting."
The stiffness in his voice was more than just skin-deep: Carewyn could sense great discomfort swirling around the Minister like some kind of grumpy cloud. It was magnified by the intense, hot anger pulsing off of Umbridge only a few feet away as her long-nailed, stubby fingers impatiently tapped the inside of her arm.
With a deep frown, Carewyn nonetheless did as she was told and slid the door shut behind her. Fudge shot another furtive look at the closed door before he cleared his throat and strode over to the fireplace.
"Now, then...ahem. Miss Cromwell, I thank you for coming so quickly -- I realize you're set to be off in the next ten minutes..."
"I shall happily extend for pay, if I can be of assistance, Minister," said Carewyn promptly.
And figure out what kind of legal issue is so bloody urgent. Especially one that involves Percy.
She shot a quick glance at the third-eldest Weasley. He was trying his best to look brave, but his face was quite pale as he looked from Fudge to Umbridge to Carewyn.
"I thought you might feel that way," said Fudge, attempting amiability. "Or, at the very least, hoped you -- "
Umbridge, however, was getting impatient, and even her most sugary interjection couldn't obscure this.
"Minister," she said through a smile so fake it looked like a monkey baring its teeth, "we're quite short on time, if we want to avoid the criminals in question escaping capture -- perhaps we should simply get Miss Cromwell's input and then get right to dispatching the Hit Wizards?"
Carewyn's brows furrowed. "'Criminals?'"
"Yes, well..." said Fudge, clearing his throat, "that...is the heart of the matter. Mr. Weasley."
He turned to Percy, who straightened up as abruptly as a scared cat.
"Earlier today two of your brothers were caught after transfiguring a hallway at Hogwarts school into a full-size swamp, complete with all the usual mess and creatures."
The mental image was nearly enough to make Carewyn laugh. She didn't, though -- the air in the room was far too serious to allow for that.
Whatever relief Percy had clearly felt upon finding out that he wasn't in any trouble quickly evaporated, giving way to exasperation and then utter humiliation. He bowed his head in a vain attempt to obscure the dark blush consuming his face.
"Fred and George, for goodness's sake..." he mumbled.
"You know of this?" Umbridge pounced on this, her pouchy eyes usually wide. "Have you not claimed multiple times that you're no longer in contact with your family?"
"I'm not!" Percy said very quickly.
"Fred and George Weasley have always been the sorts to break school rules, Madam Umbridge," Carewyn came to Percy's defense immediately. "Anyone who attended school with them would know that...let alone anyone who lived with them. I only shared two years of schooling with them as their Prefect, and I remember full well how much trouble they got up to."
"Well, they've certainly gotten themselves into some trouble now," said Fudge lightly. "Some real legal trouble."
He folded his arms behind his back, his eyes solidly on Carewyn as he strolled over to his fireplace.
"The Messrs. Weasley -- prior to receiving the punishment allotted to them by their Headmistress -- allotted to flee school on a pair of confiscated broomsticks and take up residence back here in London. But as Madam Umbridge has so astutely pointed out to me, their legal guardians never filed the formal paperwork needed to withdraw them from Hogwarts school."
"Meaning that those miscreants are still enrolled students -- ones I can punish accordingly," said Umbridge, her eyes gleaming viciously around her sweet smile. "And I've already drafted up the paperwork on my end needed to expel them once and for all! Once the Minister signs it, their wands will be broken in two and their property in Diagon Alley can be confiscated!"
Pure unadulterated fear seemed to flash over Percy's face. Obscuring her own anxiety as much as she could, Carewyn whirled on Umbridge with her sternest look.
"Madam, you as Headmistress of Hogwarts have no legal authority to evict your students. Unless one counts from Hogwarts itself."
She paused a moment to collect herself.
"...As for expelling Fred and George Weasley...had you elected to expel them prior to their departure?"
Umbridge looked bewildered. "Of course not! I wanted to ensure they faced proper discipline, in the light of their -- "
"Then your expulsion would only apply if George and Fred's stated intent to leave school didn't serve as an adequate withdrawal. And I can surmise they did, in fact, say that they were withdrawing from school?"
Umbridge looked incredibly irritated. After a moment, Fudge granted, "...I believe so. In so many words."
"Offhand remarks, Minister, are not legally binding!" Umbridge said shrilly. "If they'd wanted to withdraw from Hogwarts, then their parents should've sent a proper appeal to their Headmistress!"
Once again Carewyn met Percy's eyes. He was looking at her with a bizarre kind of anxiety -- something both cautioning, wanting her to do what was right for the Ministry, for her job -- therefore, in his mind, right overall...and yet there was also something oddly hopeful too...pleading...
"I've told you a million times, Fred, you and George are going to throw away your entire futures if you keep at this nonsense -- !"
Carewyn's lips came together grimly sensing the memory through Percy's eyes. Her own eyes drifted up toward the ceiling as she crossed her arms -- then she turned to Fudge. She tried to put forward her calmest expression even as her mind raced.
"...Minister," she said slowly, "you and Madam Umbridge have both said that the Weasley twins' legal guardians didn't file any paperwork to withdraw them from school."
"That's correct," said Fudge.
"How old are these two boys again? My math may be a bit off -- " This was a blatant lie, but one Carewyn didn't regret in the slightest, " -- but I recall that Fred and George Weasley started their first year when I was in my sixth, so I'd hazard to guess they're already of legal age in the Wizarding World."
Fudge faltered.
"Oh -- well, yes, that...must be right, I suppose..."
He wasn't pleased to admit this. Umbridge was quick to counter.
"Legal age or not, they did not file the paperwork needed to formally withdraw from school!" she said. "Therefore they're still my students, by law and by the rules of Hogwarts!"
"Hm," said Carewyn, resting her hand on her chin as she pretended to consider this. "I wonder about that..."
Umbridge's eyes flashed with anger. "What?"
"Well, one's seventh year is already superfluous, as far as Hogwarts's educational system goes," said Carewyn. "The only required exams a wizard must take in order to enter the Wizarding World are one's O.W.L.'s. A students' NEWT years are truthfully optional, so long as the student is of age."
Umbridge had become rather red in the face. "You -- !"
"My brother was expelled from Hogwarts because he'd chosen to remain at school after turning of age and Albus Dumbledore then elected to wrongly punish him," said Carewyn, and she didn't even bother disguising her righteous anger discussing this. "But in this case, George and Fred Weasley decided to evade a more minor punishment by verbally and physically withdrawing themselves from school. A self-inflicted punishment in its own way, I would think, given that it hinders them from both an academic and career perspective...but if the two boys are of legal age, it's a choice they would be allowed to make. It might not be very common now...but there's plenty of precedence historically of OWL wizards not attending Hogwarts in their sixth and seventh years, so as to pursue an apprenticeship under a more experienced magical craftsman. I remember Garrick Ollivander telling me his grandmother elected to bypass her NEWTs so she could study abroad with a wandmaker in Bulgaria. Zymunt Budge, as well...he didn't even complete his OWL's before leaving school to pursue his potionmaking, and yet he was allowed to continue legally carrying a wand."
Carewyn turned to Fudge with a harder look in her eye.
"Minister, I realize that Madam Umbridge may seek some justice for the Weasley twins' misbehavior -- and believe me, I admire that wish -- " Another blatant lie, but once again, Carewyn felt no regret for it, "...but from a legal perspective, I don't think she has any authority over them remaining. They're legal adults who cast some advanced transfiguration on a school hallway. I don't even know if that would be a felony from our standpoint, considering that there were no Muggles present, the spell was cast on inanimate objects rather than people, and the magic presumably would not constitute permanent damage to the school itself."
Umbridge had seemingly swollen up like a bullfrog. Her tiny fists were clenched at her side as she huffed and puffed, struggling to come up with some counterargument. Fudge, however, seemed to have resigned himself to mild disappointment.
"I see. Well, I suppose those two boys were never our original focus, however much it would be good to show the students a proper example..."
He moved to his desk, picking up the papers Umbridge had undoubtedly drafted for him and ripping them up.
"Best return to Hogwarts, Dolores," he said, blissfully unaware of just how much fury shone in Umbridge's face behind him. "We have quite a few people still at Hogwarts who need proper supervision."
He gave Umbridge a significant look. The little pink-dressed witch looked very displeased about not getting her way -- even with how purplish-red her round face had become, however, she still somehow forced a toothy smile.
"...Of course, Minister," she said simperingly. "There is much work to be done."
She turned around, shooting a very quick, venomous look at Carewyn as she crossed to the fireplace and -- with a toss of emerald green Floo powder and a high-pitched cry of "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" -- disappeared.
Percy looked from Carewyn to Fudge and back apprehensively.
"Sir..." he said, "is...is that all you wished to speak about...?"
"What?" said Fudge a bit too harshly. Then he became more dismissive. "Oh -- yes, Weasley, that is all. We'll need no assistance on your part in apprehending your brothers, if we don't have enough legal standing to bring them in..."
Once again, he seemed mildly disappointed about this, but shrugged it off relatively well. Trying hard to keep herself from glaring at Fudge, Carewyn shifted her focus over to Percy and brought a supportive arm around him.
"We'll take our leave then," she said quietly. "Good day, sir."
With this, she steered Percy from the Minister's office. She then walked him out of the Ministry and out to the local coffee shop for a quick cup and chocolate croissant to cheer the poor boy up.
"And here I thought after graduating, I'd no longer have to answer for Fred and George's schoolboy misbehavior," Percy said tiredly.
He covered his face with his hand, his glasses propped up over it, as he sighed. Carewyn gave his shoulder a supportive squeeze.
"I can understand why you were worried," she said gently. "However much I know you and your family aren't on good terms...well, Fred and George are still your brothers. Even when everyone thought the worst of Jacob, I still loved my brother."
Because I knew those people were all full of it. But even so...
"Mm..." was all Percy would admit. Instead, as he looked up at Carewyn, he put on his best attempt at reproach.
"Tell me the truth -- were you trying to get Fred and George out of trouble, back there? Or was that your real legal analysis?"
Carewyn's eyes grew a little smaller. "Of course it was real."
Seeing Percy's disbelieving expression, Carewyn lied -- this time, far more regretfully than she had any of the other times.
"I would've done the same thing for Lucius Malfoy's son, if he'd been in their place. The Headmaster of Hogwarts has no right to destroy someone's life...I have more than enough reason to believe that."
Her quieter words seemed to soften Percy enough that he chose to believe her.
"...Mm, yes...I suppose I do forget just how much Dumbledore hurt you and your family, for what he did to Jacob..."
He paused. He looked down into his coffee and put on a very weak smile.
"...I know it's stupid...but I want to yell at them. All that tutoring I offered them for Transfiguration at school, and they decide to show off their mastery of it by turning a hallway into a bloody swamp."
Carewyn bit her lip in amusement. "I can't imagine it's something McGonagall would've assigned them."
Minerva must be so proud, though -- seeing them use her lessons to stand up to the likes of Umbridge, she thought warmly. Oh, how I wish I could send those two some chocolate right now...the biggest chocolate Easter egg I could find!

what would freyja and the golden trio be like?
and how about the weasleys?
The Weasleys part I can answer! ⭐️
She gets on better with Bill and Charlie, Bill being everyone’s unofficial big brother and Charlie being in the same year level as her. Whenever there’s a Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Quidditch match, Bill makes sure to take both Charlie and Freyja aside, wish them luck and tell them to play nice.
((surprise!! Hug 20/79!))

As for the next three Weasley siblings…
Percy really only approaches Freyja to tell her off for getting his older brothers into trouble, which Freyja honestly finds a little amusing. Like this little 12 year old in a cone-hat telling off a 16 year old who is literally head and shoulders above him? 😂 When Bill and Charlie told him about their Ravenclaw friend, he was expecting a studious nerdy Ravenclaw prefect type. Which wasn’t quite accurate.
Fred and George meanwhile have the opposite opinion. They don’t think Freyja breaks enough rules. She’s no fun. They were expecting someone like Tonks or Tulip, but nope. They enjoy messing with her, trying to get some kind of reaction. Which always fails. They vaguely begin to wonder if she’s able to express human emotions.

Ron and Ginny don’t come into Freyja’s story, as I’m not even sure she ever went to the Burrow (I haven’t played any of the TLSQs so..). If she did go to the Burrow during her school years, they might’ve had some vague memory of someone without red hair sitting at the dining table but that’s about it 😅
Re: the Golden Trio, I don’t plan on making Freyja’s story intersect with theirs, at least not to the point where they are aware of each other.
