“We can go to mine, if you want,” Draco manages after a long time, almost as long as his whole life. “Sure,” comes Potter’s reply, neither too slowly, nor too quickly, eyes still glued to the telly. They’re quiet during the six-floor walk-up. Potter’s heavy steps echo down the curved escalier as he joins Draco on the narrow landing. A clink of keys, a drawn-out squeak, and they’re inside. Potter doesn’t comment on the size of Draco’s room, nor the rest; the bed, propped up by books and crammed between a sink full of empty bottles and the door, the water-damaged wall, the potion vials on the floor. In fact, he doesn’t seem to take in anything at all, his eyes glossy and fixed somewhere beyond the walls of Draco’s room. Draco finds a half-full bottle of wine under the bed, and pours Potter a glass. Potter accepts it, a heavy air of preoccupation hanging over him. They spend another couple of minutes in that viscous silence, side by side on Draco’s lumpy bed, then Potter stands up. Draco’s heart is pounding. Harry sets his empty glass on the stack of newspapers Draco uses to cover the window when it gets too hot. He lingers for a while with his back turned, as if pondering some important decision. Draco wonders if he’ll leave, then, just like that. He doesn’t. He turns. The room is so small, he’s in front of Draco in one step. Draco breathes in, lets his glass tumble next to him. Potter’s hand rests for a beat on the crown of his head, a torturously familiar touch, then slides down across his cheek. He nudges Draco’s chin up. When Draco looks up, Potter’s finally looking back. There’s hunger in those eyes. Draco understands. He swallows past the knot in his throat; gets down on his knees. As he unzips Potter’s jeans, Potter puts his hand back on Draco’s head, and says, “I’m not gay.”

How is 2023 almost over?? This fandom year was a mixed bag for me; in good news, I managed to shake the awful writer's block of 2022, but sadly that definitely meant that I spent less time reading. In the first half of the year I kept up with Dronarry fest, and Wireless, but since the summer I've been working on a longfic and have definitely found that it's impaired my ability to read longer stuff. But what models can you choose? As at August 2024, there are two key options to consider including:

Long Range Single Motor - from £59,990 this standard model benefits from the plus pack for Harman Kardon premium sound, HUD, Zinc Deco, Pixel LED lights, powered-operated tailgate, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, rear control screen (for the passenger), 12-way adjustable seats, power reclining rear seats, heated front/rear seats and steering wheel, 3-zone climate control, air filtration and 22kW AC charging. The car also includes camera-based interior mirror, LED interior and exterior lights, rain sensing wipers, automated crash protection, hill hold and descent control, 10.2” driver LCD display, 11-exterior camera system, 15.4” central display, wireless smartphone charging, adaptive cruise control, insurance telematics, launch mode, dashcam, keyless entry, alarm and battery preconditioning; and

Long Range Dual Motor - from £66,990 this allows you to get the Performance pack including the 22” Performance alloys.

Colours include Magnesium (free) or the chargeable Snow, Electron, Storm, Space and Gold. Inside, you can go for the Charcoal or Mist with the Zinc deco or upgrade the Nappa leather. In terms of packs, you have the Pilot Pack (Piot Assist and change assist), Pro Pack (21” Pro wheels and Swedish gold seats) and the Performance Pack (22” alloys, Engineering chassis tuning, Brembo brakes and Swedish gold accents). Other options include the Electrochromic glass roof (which replaces the standard panoramic roof), body-coloured lower-claddings and the privacy glass. You can add the fully-electrically retractable towbar too.  

But how does the Polestar 4 perform - is it a good EV?

Long Range Single Motor - The RWD SUV option will have a 94 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 7.4 seconds, 112 mph top speeds and 200 kW (or 268 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 260 miles with warmer weather allowing for 350 miles. On charging, the 22 kW AC max will allow 5 hours and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 200 kW DC maximum allowing 31 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 526L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 131 mpg. This option can tow 750kg (unbraked) and 1500kg (braked). There will be Bidirectional charging with the V2L announced for this option. A Heat Pump is standard and

Long Range Dual Motor - the AWD SUV option will have a 94 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 3.8 seconds, 124 mph top speeds and 400 kW (or 536 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 245 miles with warmer weather allowing for 325miles. On charging, the 22 kW AC max will allow 5 hours and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 200 kW DC maximum allowing 31 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 526L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 123 mpg. This option can tow 750kg (unbraked) and 1500kg (braked). There will be Bidirectional charging with the V2L announced for this option. Helloooo El! So lovely to hear from you. I've been really absent from fandom for most of this year, not had the energy to chat with many people, and just about managing to dip my toes back in now, so thanks for thinking of me <3

Haha, my long fic! It's an idea I've had for years now - two things I've wanted to write for ages: older Drarry, and fast sexual/slow romantic burn. It involves a lot of forced proximity, and general peril, and an OC who I love, and a canon HP character I've never written before. I'm hoping that the stars align and I can submit it for Big Bang 2025 - in fact, I was writing it for this year's, until the announcement came that there wouldn't be a fest in 2024 - so I can't say any more about the content as details have to stay anon until author/artist matching.

My long fic writing process, though, is no secret <3 the first thing I ever wrote was 110k, and I had absolutely no plan, no outline, started in the middle, jumped from scene to scene, and when I got stuck I'd chuck the baby in the sling and walk around the block until I'd solved my problem. This time round, you know, bit more experienced (haha), the fic has more worldbuilding, a more complex plot - I thought I'd buy Scrivener and do what the grown ups do with making character cards and notes and little tabs for the different scenes and stuff. Anyway, long story short: I've written the 55k I've got so far in MS Word, I've jumped around all over the place, and my 'outline' is a collection of dialogue snippets meant for the scenes I haven't written yet. There really is no hope!

What about you, though? As you know, I adore your writing, your last two Wireless fics have been must-reads for me, and I'm eagerly awaiting the completion of your current WIP. What's your process? Are you a chaotic mess like me or do you actually manage to plan things in advance? 🙈🙈
