Whilst I'm not at a computer to reference specific videos rn, the clock thing is funny to me too. Because giving the clock happened ages ago, in the video you show. But as someone who went through the entire fandom of mindcrack since the start, there was little notable fandom impression around the clock on Tumblr, if there was it was a minority. Like any fanon stuff was more around his mindcrack presence which had nothing to do with clocks and so I never thought about clocks bc it was so irrelevant and not really a thing. (He did however have clocks in his inventory at times but was hardly ever mentioned) And even through his single player series there was no huge attachment to the clock in terms of talking abt it like he does later...

But it seems over time his need to sleep (esp in his single player series) coupled with eventually using clocks because of that just... Added up in the end? To his more exaggerated clock and sleep identity. Just no defined period to me other than most of hermitcraft (s7 mainly) onward (kind of like he just popped up saying "hermitcraft" funny suddenly without explanation in s7. EDIT i think it was s7 episode 40 was the first time)

As for his name it's def one of those things that also kind of developed over time? I wouldn't be able to say who came up with what first though I'm sure someone else could pop in with the earliest video of etho say "bdubs" perhaps. The nicknames I definitely remember mostly in order where boo/boo, double, and bdubs (but also sometimes "bdub" for a bit early on). There are some very early mindcrack videos calling him bdubs so it did start quite early tbh but it was kinda random for a little bit (tho I did notice in chat more ppl would says boo or his whole name for a while)

So, I keep seeing Bdubs' clock addiction get sourced back to 3rd Life, and while he certainly has made it a more exaggerated part of his character since then, that's not when it started.

I've been casually poking through some older content, mostly old ctms, and I was surprised to see this in the Kaizo Caverns series OOGE did in 2012 a whole decade ago. (Episode link).

I'm extremely, and I really cannot stress this enough, extremely new to hermitcraft and I'm sure this clip has been brought up before. But, I'm really curious, does anyone have a source for when the clock thing became a known fact about Bdubs? Google has just brought be back to 3rd life haha.

I actually have one other question for those who are familiar with the mindcrack era, I'm interested in knowing when "Bdubs" became his default nickname. I've noticed it was used in text posts about him from way back, but even then it looked like Boo (or B00) was the preferred shorthand, and I haven't seen anyone around then actually verbally call him Bdubs. Mostly just Bdoubleo or the occasional use of his first name.

Sorry for the wordy post, I'm just very curious about all the little things and I unfortunately do not have the time to watch a years worth of 10-12yo minecraft content haha.

ah, i didn't hear about that! i might assume you mean that's explicitly stated by other hermits too, but that's good to know. however, on the hermitcraft website, it already says pearl and gem are on the members list, but i don't see generikb atm, so ??? i'm not sure where you actually got that from, so forgive me if i'm being too cautious lmao

so. i wasn't actually around for The Drama. i had no clue this even had any depth other than "the founder of hermitcraft rejoining after forever" until it was brought up and someone didn't respond that well. my knowledge is very limited, so please take what i say with a fraction of a grain of salt

there was some concern over public/private information in the discussion i heard it from, but it was also a kinda heated moment, so i'll try to play it safe and be a little vague here and there.

i guess it boils down to just. generik and certain hermits having bad blood for a long time, with at least one hermit being significantly more vocal about it (but still toned down, clearly. the hermits generally know how to handle themselves as adults around Impressionable Audiences, and i'm grateful for that at least lol)

something else is that generik claims, a long time ago, he failed to disclose that one of his videos was sponsored (which is a requirement, he claims he wasn't aware, since it was a new feature then). (reddit comment here) someone said he brushed over a lot of drama in that comment. as far as i know, this is mostly mindcrack related, which is even further away from what i typically know about.

alsooo i heard cleo replied "no" under of of generik's tweets and deleted it shortly after, and i don't know if that was just paraphrasing, but it's kinda concerning??? (again, this is just secondhand knowledge, but that's pretty funny anyway lmfao)

and, yeah, the hermits are Adults™, but adults can still be petty, especially if this is related to personal things instead of fans. if it turns out to be all resolved, then cool!! i just don't want to jump around to all these conclusions every time i hear conflicting opinions lol

honestly though if you want any further details/sources, you're most likely better off looking for them without me lol, since. for the twelfth time (/hyp). this is really just "he said/she said" to me and i do not want to be anyone's main source of info for this.
