Okay so update on using these lads, but I have 2 caveats:
I was put on steroids + two antihistamines so of course my eczema has mostly cleared up now.
I am now on a higher dose of my thyroid medication which in turn has made my skin less dry overall, so, you know.
HOWEVER! I am still really enjoying (most of) them.
Milky Jelly Cleanser: The texture is nice! I enjoy non-stripping cleansers and acne is not one of my concerns, so I can't really speak to how effective it is on that front. If you are oily this is probably not the cleanser for you. It also apparently can remove makeup but again, not something I really have to deal with so YMMV. But it does feel really nice and my face does feel clean but still moisturized! Its like a cleansing conditioner somehow.
Super Glow (Vit C serum): This is a trickier thing to review as typically Vit C stuff is a higher concentration and you don't see real changes for months but so far it's fine? It's hard to determine how this stuff is affecting my skin due to the above caveats but it's not *hurting* anything so ehhhh. I want to try and be more consistent with it and see how it goes.
Universal Pro-Retinol: I liked this stuff while I could use it (I can't use it now due to potentially growing a new human inside of me) but it was nice! Retinols can be harsh and generally I do not care about fine lines and such but it was pretty good at helping with deeper exfoliation and my skin did feel more even, but alas I have to put it away for now. It was fairly gentle though from what I remember, a good first retinol product probably.
Priming Moisturizer Rich: OKAY I FUCKIN' LOVE THIS SHIT. My skin has gotten a touch drier as I have gotten older and finding a moisturizer that absorbs fairly quickly without feeling like it's disappeared completely is tricky (looking at you Cerave Moisturizing Cream). But this stuff just feels real nice right out of the jar, it feels VERY rich but it's not heavy. I also don't need a whole lot at a time! My skin soaks it up but even hours later still feels bouncy and soft and not like I forgot to put any on. I can't speak to it's priming abilities under makeup but it is very smooth. I wish I could use it over my entire body.
Futuredew (oil serum): I bought this stuff basically on a whim thinking of my own hair routine (layering moisturizers and sealing with oil) and tbh it does work quite well at that. I am meh about the light reflecting bits and also having grown up in the era of ULTRA MATTE MAKEUP styles, its always a bit jarring to see stuff that is trying to make you look a little shiny. That being said, I don't hate it. My skin DOES feel bouncy and soft. The smell is a bit odd and the only product that really has any strong scent but that's what happens when you have rosehip oils in stuff. It's not bad and dissipates quickly. I could take it or leave it but for now I am gonna use it.
Invisible Shield (sunscreen): It's sunscreen. It works! It does go on smoothly and absorbs quickly. I used it over a weekend where I was outdoors a lot and had zero issues. It smells nice and there is no white cast. It's a nice sunscreen and I do like the bottle but that's all I really gotta say about it.
Bonus: Also these are all relatively affordable (I think they are all under $30 each? And if you get them bundled like I did (minus the retinol, I bought that previously) Glossier gives you a discount). So I didn't feel like I was paying out the nose.
Anywho, idk if this is helpful for anyone but here you go.
I'm gonna be so dewy

A very late oddly specific ask…#9 and go!
OOOH SOUL YOU UNLEASHED THE BEAST!!! Thank you for sending this in, for someone who has a shit ton of skincare and makeup and it just sits around, I do like talking about it a lot 😅😅😅 Most of the time my skincare routine is lazy and is just sunscreen, eye cream, and mosturizer bc I'm rushing out the door, but this is what I do at night when I really commit to it. I'm like 1000000% sure this is probably a terrible routine and not at all in the right order but I haven't had any major issues yet (lol):
Toner - I use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid or the Pixi Glow Toner. Honestly both of them are bottles I've had lying around forever bc like I said, I'm lazy and usually forget to do toner loool
Face Oil - I use this Rose Face Oil I got for like $6 at Marshalls. I remember asking my mom if I could get it (as a grown 25 year old woman embarrassing), and she was like "stop wasting money" LMAO
Serum - not a real serum but I use The Ordinary Niacinimide bc a bih has acne and lots of hyperpigmentation on her face. I'm also just a big fan of how affordable the brand is
Vitamins - I use Vitamin C from the Ordinary bc again cheap and I have acne scars, but I honestly don't recommend this stuff. I have to apply it in this exact order or else it pills on my face and it looks like my skin is peeling. If anyone has any other Vitamin C recs lmk!
Eye Cream - I think I also use this eye cream that I got for like $7 at Marshalls. I can't tell you the brand because I rubbed off the lettering from using it so much, but it smells like honey and is very hydrating and pleasant
Sunscreen - I like the Innisfree sunscreen, it's super affordable and it doesn't leave a white cast on POC skin! k-beauty got me again lol
Moisturizer - nothing fancy, I have a huge bottle of Vanicream and it does the trick, so I'm not too bothered about changing it hehe!
Eye Cream (again) - this is rlly my only splurge skincare product and it's the glow balm from TULA! It brightens my undereyes and I keep it in the fridge so it feels nice and cool on my face (and it was founded by a desi woman woohoo)
Lips - I had this LaNeige sample pot of their lip mask that I got from Sephora, and I've scraped out every last bit over the past month or so (it just ran out this week). So now I'm using good ol Vaseline LMAO
Bonus layer - these are just for days where I don't wear makeup (most days), and I want to look like I'm not a zombie, but I like using either the Live Tinted HueGlow or the Glossier FutureDew all over my face to help seem like i'm alive
This actually was super fun and I'm sure you didn't ask for any of this, but that's my very in-depth skincare routine! 💜💜💜

Glossier anon again! Just wanted to say your answer was really helpful. :) And that I love your style. Also to ask if you thought FutureDew was worth it and/or any Korean skincare recs since you mentioned that. Sorry for all the questions! I love talking beauty. Hope you're having a nice day!
Hi! No worries I love to talk beauty too and thank you :~) I actually love futuredew! It's a bit too heavy for me in the summer but it's my favorite winter primer, however the Maybelline 4 in 1 perfector does a similar thing without being as heavy (it's not heavy per se just very nourishing and has a presence on the skin). To me futuredew has the effect of doing a sheet mask and squeezing the extra liquid out of the pack and slathering that on, I truly love the feeling. For Korean skincare basically I try to follow a basic Korean routine of oil cleansing, essence, serums, sunscreen and moisturizer. Right now I use banila co clean it zero cleansing balm and when my skin is less irritated I follow with Dr jart microfoam cleanser. My favorite essence is may coop raw sauce but I can't find it at the lower price I used to buy it at so I replaced it with hanskin hylauron essence and it's very nice, raw sauce is hg tho. Cosrx makes really good essences too! For serums I just look around on sokoglam for reasonably priced well reviewed things, right now I use a propolis ampoule from Elensilia-cpp and I really like it. Laneige is a brand that I never really bought from until recently, they are more expensive as well as more accessible in the US (sold at Sephora) but I got a Sephora birthday gift with some of their stuff in it earlier this year and fell in love, so now I use their water bank cream, their lip masks, and most recently their cica repair sleeping mask which is like a heavy night cream that stays wet and occlusive all night long. I am so obsessed with it- I love how clear and even my skin looks in the morning and the container it came in is luxurious and huge. Most importantly for Korean skincare is to know where to shop bc US retailers love to jack up the prices on things sometimes (looking at you, Ulta)- Masksheets.com has been a recent discovery of mine, they sell laneige and tons of other Korean products at a significant discount. If you're a sheet mask addict like I am you'll love the site bc you can buy cheap singles from all kinds of interesting brands- my favorite ones rn are the jayjun cosmetics intensive shining mask and I've never heard of them before now. Other than that I use sokoglam! Also I love the brand Erborian for bb or cc creams :-)

It’s the little things. Like finally having a place to put all your cute skincare things. Anybody else get hype over some cute wood (stop) and organization?
I have sensitive skin now, thanks to my good ole health rollercoaster (if you’ve ever noticed, I almost refuse to say “cancer”). I’ve been blessed to have the money and resources that I do to have the products to make my skin better every day.
Glossier? Futuredew and bubblewrap are my thing. The Futuredew is fun to wear by itself when I don’t want to wear makeup and it also goes well under makeup. Soooo it’s just a win overall. Bubblewrap? Bye bye weird puffy eyes. I haven’t been the best at sleeping and not crying lately and it’s been a saint to have.
The Ordinary? As stated earlier, my skin used to be just plain gross. Texture? A major problem. This stuff helps make my face brighter and just helps texture overall.
You know about that Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment, boo. If you don’t, learnt it. I definitely bought it because it had avocados in it (why am I like this?), but she more than that.
Saturday Skin’s toner? Yes, I bought it because it was a pastel pink and looked cute and I just needed a toner. But it’s incredible. After you take your makeup off, get a cotton swab and wipe your face down with that junk. You’ll find more junk and your face will feel tingly. Let her work.
DRUNK 👏🏻 ELEPHANT 👏🏻 is my shit. I absolutely swear by them. It’s expensive, but it’s so worth it. I love the babyfacial when I take a bath. I feel it working and my face feels so smooth afterwards. Everything else just speaks for itself. Glycolic serum? Mix it with the facial oil and you have yourself a nice face cocktail (highly recommend you make one for your insides too).
Mario Badescu’s Vitamin C Serum? I’ve been using this one for some time. And it just makes my face smell amazing and feel incredible.
Apostrophe? This guy is new actually. And I was suggested to use The Ordinary with it. But it’s a custom serum/medicine for my face :) makes ya feel kinda cool when your name is on the back of it.
Curology? I fell into an Instagram trap after seeing it advertised, over and over again. But y’all - it works. Shockingly enough, it works. They custom make these bottles for your skin, determining on your needs and pictures you send them (just your face, weirdo). I personally love the moisturizer I put on after the medicine. But sometimes you might need a little more. Regardless, my face always feels so smooth after I do the steps.
Ladies AND gentlemen (I know some of you have sensitive skin too), these are my bread and butter (or my sweet tea and spicy Chick-fil-A sandwich, if you will). I recommend them completely. I’m not a skin care expert, but I know how hard it is to find something to make you feel confident in the skin you are in (I think that’s a cheesy commercial somewhere).
And also, after reading this myself, I realize how much of a sucker I am for cute bottles. 🤷🏼♀️

A Dry Girls Guide To Winter Skin
Will all the dry skinned folks please stand up. It’s a struggle bus having dry skin. Even more so this time of the year when Texas weather just won’t make up its mind. Here’s how I’m currently surviving.
Pile On The Facial Oils: Find a facial oil that agrees with your skin. There are tons on the market. I’ve been loving using straight jojoba oil on my face. Jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural oil it produces. I really enjoy this oil morning and night. Makeup even sits nicely on top of this oil. It’s also a nice carrier oil for a glycolic serum such as the Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. (Another favorite!)
Moisturizing Body Scrub: My all time favorite scrub is Buffy from Lush Cosmetics. With a base of Shea Butter and ground almonds, this buffs off any dead skin very gently. I have psoriasis all over my scalp and in some places on my body. This scrub never irritates any super dry areas of my body which is a huge plus!
Always use a body conditioner: I have been using my Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner for years. I love the mixture of the Argan Oil and the Shea Butter. A body conditioner is essentially an in-shower lotion. My dry skin drinks it up. And, let’s be honest. nobody has the time to let regular lotion sink in after a shower.
Keeping A Nourishing Lip Balm With You Always: The Weleda Skin Food made it into my 2019 Favorites. So when I found the Weleda Skin Food Lip Balm, I about lost it. Please take my money. I really have enjoyed using this lip balm. It’s a lovely glossy finish but extremely nourishing.
Glossier FutureDew: Glossier describes this as a oil serum hybrid. I have loved using it in combination with a light coverage concealer to keep my skin looking fresh and juicy. Want to save some money on your first Glossier purchase? Use my code to save some money!
What are your must haves during the dry months?

OIL. DOES. NOT. HYDRATE. – Beautygeeks
Once and for all, OIL. DOES. NOT. HYDRATE. Sorry for the strong tone, but I’m so tired of seeing brands tout their oils as hydrating or moisturizing. It’s become a trigger for me like common grammar errors, such as “different than” and “I wish I would of” and confusion over “there/their” and “its/it’s.” AAAARGH.
Thanks for watching!Visit Website
In an Instagram comment promoting Glossier’s new Futuredew gleaming oil serum, the brand’s social media person mentioned that the formula’s “Jojoba, Grape Seed, Evening Primrose and Rosehip oils–along with plant-based squalane–deliver instant dewiness and hydration…”
GAH. Oil cannot deliver instant hydration. Oil cannot moisturize. Oil has no moisture in it. So oil cannot add hydration.
Hydration comes from moisture. From water. Water hydrates. Water moisturizes. In fact, water is the first on Futuredew’s ingredient list, as it should be for a product like this. (Futuredew also contains light-reflecting components such as mica and pigment, but that’s not at issue here.)
I’m not saying oil is useless, not at all. As an occlusive, it’s a useful component in skin care and health. I use oil in my skincare routine. And of course, we know our bodies make oil – sebum (I wish that word were prettier) – that keeps skin and hair supple, and contributes to a healthy moisture barrier that keeps good things in the skin and bad things out. Oil helps skin hold onto water, slowing its all-too-eager evaporation from the epidermis. Yes, oil is an occlusive, a “light sheet” in comparison to petrolatum’s “comforter.”
Thanks for watching!Visit Website

what to apply before oil
When it comes to skin benefits, oil functions best when it has water to corral. Put oil on damp skin. That’s when you get a nice glow instead of an instant oil slick. Whether you mist lightly with thermal water, or use an essence or hydrating serum (hello, Vichy Mineral 89) before applying oil, just make sure your skin isn’t absolutely dry. Oil on dry skin is just basting – and it feels that way too.
I mean, if you use a hair oil, would you use it on dry hair? Hair brands are the only ones consistent with the right messaging: apply oil on wet or damp hair.
So, if you’re using a straight-up oil, such as squalane, rose-hip, marula or some kind of blend – a formula that contains zero aqua or H2O – you want to apply all your actually hydrating stuff first, then mix a couple of drops with your moisturizer (which likely contains water) and put it on top.
I love oil for my body as well. Favourites include Weleda Sea Buckthorn Oil (although I’m hugely disappointed they call it “Hydrating” right on the darned box), and Dr. Hauschka Rose Body Oil. When I use them, I always, always, always smooth it on over damp skin post-shower, or mist my skin with thermal water first.
And cuticle oil, such as CND Solar Oil, is best used when hands are damp, not dry.
Oils are occlusive – a “light sheet” to petrolatum’s “comforter.” They slow water loss from the epidermis, so they’re best applied on damp skin.
how i use oil on my face in the a.m.
Why don’t I just share the steps I take before I apply oil on my face in the morning? (It’s not my complete AM routine; another post to come.) After cleansing:
My application starts with a couple of moderate mistings of Avene Thermal Spring Water. I spray my face, let it sit for several seconds, use a small towel to dab off the excess, then repeat.
Then I immediately apply a hydrating essence or serum – Missha Time Revolution Essence or Innisfree Green Tea Seed Hydrating Serum.
Then I apply Korres Wild Rose 15% Vitamin C Spotless Serum, which I love because it’s a bi-phase formula that feels like oil and water together!
water + oil texture = hydration and glow
Yep, I used an exclamation mark in that last sentence up there because I think putting water and oil-like ingredients in a bi-phase arrangement is clever. This format seems promising when it comes to giving you the results you aren’t getting by applying oil on its own. Because water is part of the mix, an oil-in-water format should deliver plumping, hydrating and glowing benefits almost instantly.
Biotherm mixed water and oil textures in a gel-emulsion serum ages ago with their Blue Therapy Serum in Oil. Fresh did it in their recent Vitamin Nectar Glow Juice Antioxidant Face Serum. Glossier did it too with Futuredew, but ticked me off by spreading misinformation.
Now most of the serums mentioned in this post are not as simple as just “oil in water so you don’t have to remember to put them on damp skin.” But I can’t explain that just yet; stay tuned.
over to you
Have you been using an oil as moisturizer, either for face or body or both, but with disappointing results? Oil as a skincare step isn’t for everyone, but is it part of your regimen?

You Look Moist: The Best Face Masks, According to Someone Who Uses Them 5 Times a Week
Welcome to You Look Moist, a column in which Man Repeller asks cool people with glowing visages how they achieved their supreme hydration (amongst other things). Today’s installment features Christina Grasso, Digital Content Manager at Flesh Beauty.
How would you describe your skin?
My skin puts up with a lot and kind of just rolls with the punches. It’s definitely a middle child. I could be more disciplined when it comes to sticking to a routine, but it’s hard because I am constantly receiving, researching, and trying new products. As the social lead for Flesh Beauty and a content creator on the side, it’s a big part of my job, and it’s also my hobby. If I weren’t a devout Catholic, skincare might be my religion.
How would you describe your skincare approach in general?
I am a helicopter mom to my skin–constantly watching and doing the absolute most. Well, that’s maybe not true; I could always do more! From time to time I’ll hear from the interwebs that my several-step approach and vast product assortment are “unnecessary.” Of course it’s unnecessary! But it makes me happy and is working for me, so I’ll keep on keeping on with my maximalist crusade.

Which skincare products are integral to your routine for achieving your ideal, glowing, well-moisturized complexion, and how/when do you use each of them?
I wish I were one of those people with a tightly-edited routine (do I really? maybe not); alas, as I said, I do the most. That being said, I do attribute my complexion to genetics and possibly my diet. I eat lots of vegetables and I’ve had a dairy allergy since I was literally a baby, so I’ve missed out on the joys of ice cream and cheese (sad!) but perhaps that’s contributed to clearer skin. I don’t have any science to back that up, though, so please don’t try that at home. Go forth and enjoy your cheese boards! Otherwise, yes. I am very grateful to have a well-stocked beauty cabinet and do not, by any means, have a simple routine.
Anyways! Here’s the full enchilada:
I wake up (no small feat) and splash my face with cold water, then I tone with Clinique Clarifying Lotion, which I’ve been using religiously since 6th or 7th grade. I follow it up with a few pumps of Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum, which makes me look instantly glowy. I’ve gone through several bottles of it, and I can’t say that for too many products. If I’m feeling super puffy I’ll massage my face with a cold jade roller. While my serum is soaking in, I’ll take all of my supplements (currently, I’m taking a bunch of different ones by The Nue Co.–Mood, Metabolism, Immunity, Skin Filter–and Nutrafol) with a huge glass of water with–yes–lemon.
Then I’ll apply my moisturizer: either Elizabeth Arden Prevage with SPF, or The Cream by Augustinus Bader and then I’ll add an SPF. I also like to add a bit of Glossier Futuredew and Supergoop Glow Stick onto the high points of my face during the day for a dewy glow, especially on a no-makeup day.

I never leave the house without fragrance, and it’s rarely the same one. If I had a signature scent, it’d be Byredo 1996, which I’ve been using for years. But my favorite of all time is Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle–the scent is intoxicating but it’s so expensive that I ration it very conservatively. I’d bathe in it if I could.
!function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? In the afternoon, I just try not to touch my face, and I’m big on facial mists. I do love the Caudalie one that everyone has (it’s a classic) but my favorite is the Queen of Hungary mist by Omorovicza. The name is great, and it smells like summertime.
!function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? At night, my routine depends on what I have going on. On a quiet evening, I’ll take my time and maybe have a bath. I like to use Nécessaire Body Wash or Dr. Teal’s for maximum bubble-age, and add a bit of Molton Brown Rosa Absolute Sumptuous Bathing Oil.
!function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script');

And if I’m feeling dangerous (because I’ve literally lit my entire bathroom on fire once with Diptyque Baies), I’ll light a candle. Depending on the mood, it’s either Burning Rose, Woods, or Bibliotheque by Byredo; Rich by Sunday Forever, or Feu de Bois by Diptyque. Goes without saying: I’m too traumatized to burn Baies anymore, but it had a good run.
!function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? Bath or shower, I’ll remove my makeup using the Elemis Rose Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm–it’s one of the only cleansers I’ve found that removes even stubborn waterproof mascara. Then I’ll cleanse using the Tula Acne Foam Cleanser. (I also love the Instant Facial Dual-Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pads by Tula.) Up until this point, I’ve all but ignored the skin below my neck, but I’ve recently started using The Body Cream by Augustinus Bader, which is very, very rich. I also love The Body Lotion and The Body Serum by Nécessaire.

Once my face is squeaky clean and makeup-free, I’ll use Biologique Recherche P50 1970 to exfoliate and tone. My favorite serum right now is Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic Acid, which, fortunately for my skin but unfortunately for my bank account, I’m obsessed with. I also love Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Caudalie Vinoperfect.

Masking is a whole thing for me. I do so religiously (at least 4–5 times a week) depending on what I feel like my skin needs. Some of my favorites, in no particular order: Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask, Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask, Glamglow Supermud, Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask, Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Mask, Dermovia Lace Your Face, Dr. Jart Hydration Lover Rubber Mask, Drunk Elephant Babyfacial, Loops Double Take (biodegradable!!), and Beboe High-Potency CBD Mask. And I have to say, I’m really into that Beboe mask. Initially I thought it sounded kind of gimmicky, but I swear to you, that thing is indeed potent and I feel amazing while–and after–doing it.

I have a couple of favorite moisturizers. Currently I’m using Augustinus Bader The Cream–my friend Linda Wells turned me on to it and I’ll try anything she likes. I’ve always been a science nerd, so I appreciate that Bader products were born out of regenerative science. I’m a big La Prairie stan, and love their Skin Caviar, which I keep in the fridge. I started using their Platinum Rare Cellular Cream a few years ago when I heard it was a favorite of Stevie Nicks’s, who has the skin of a thriving baby vampire, and she’s in her early 70s. (I’ll let you know in 40 or so years if I, too, resemble a thriving baby vampire.) A full Platinum Rare Cream was actually a notable casualty in the fire which was, as you can imagine, devastating. Truly gone too soon.

I never, ever go to bed without doing this entire routine or without slathering my face and décolletage in oil. Supernal is my favorite, and I love Vintner’s Daughter. If I have time, I like to use the MDNA Face Roller, which visibly lifts skin immediately, and feels like a face workout.

What about makeup products?
I tend to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to makeup. But my signature look, if I can call it that, is a brushed-up brow, a little feline flick, fresh skin, and a coral-y lip. I always start with Fresh Flesh Illuminating Primer—I was never really into primers until this one came along. Then I’ll fill in any sparse areas of my brows using Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe and Glossier Boy Brow in Brown. I’ll curl my lashes and for mascara I use Thrive Causemetics. In terms of liquid liner, my favorite is the waterproof one from Stila. I always do my eye makeup first in case there’s any fallout–that way it doesn’t mess with my face makeup. Then I’ll apply NARS Soft Matte Concealer under my eyes and Flesh Thickstick Foundation around my nose and on my chin, and set my under-eye area with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I have the curse of being both Italian and anemic, so no matter how much concealer I use, I’ll always look a bit exhausted thanks to the half-moons under my eyes.
For blush, I’ll use Swipe Flesh Lip Color in Puffy or Chanel Joues Contraste in Malice. If I do highlighter, it’s always Touch Flesh Highlighting Balm in Startle. And lips! That’s a big category for me. Some of my all-time favorites are: Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Shine in Pop Orange, Chanel Rouge Allure in Vibrante, Fleshy Lips in Chew and Drool, Swipe Flesh Lip Color in Tremble, Flesh Hot Sauce Lip Gloss in Wind Whirled, and Proud Flesh Matte Liquid in Brazen.

What’s the cheapest product you use regularly and love?
I love the Niacinamide serum by The Ordinary, Blistex Lip Medex, and Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with apple cider vinegar.

Is there anything you try to avoid, skincare- or makeup-wise?
The sun. I avoid the sun like the plague, truly. It can’t be trusted! Most people would never assume that I’m Sicilian and tan incredibly easily. I also don’t usually wear a full face of foundation or powder unless I have an event or am being photographed. I like being able to see, you know, actual skin.
Any next-level tips, tricks, or services that you swear by to help you look “lit from within”?
It’s rather basic and boring, but skincare, at least for me, starts on the inside. If I’m not eating enough, or drinking enough water, or getting enough sleep, or really frazzled, it shows. I know I have a really product-heavy routine, but if I’m not taking proper care of myself, nothing will work magic (sigh!!!!). And last year I added a little gratitude exercise to my morning routine–not for the sake of appearance, but I do think grateful people have a certain glow.
Beyond that, I try to get a facial at least once a month. If I’m in the mood to treat myself, I love going to Rescue Spa, Knockout Beauty, or Tracie Martyn for a treatment. Otherwise, Heyday is really efficient and consistently good for routine maintenance. And I see my dermatologist, Dr. Josh Zeichner, every couple of months. I try to do some sort of mask 4-5 times a week, which beyond giving my skin some extra tszuj, forces me to be still and breathe, which I often forget to do. (Oxygen is also really good for your skin, I hear.)
What’s your go-to product or trick for fixing a skin disaster?
It depends on what kind of disaster we’re talking about. If it’s a zit, I swear by Starface and a prescription topical I got from my dermatologist. If I’m super dry and peeling off like a snake, I’ll up my water intake and apply creams and oils more liberally. If there were to be an actual disaster–like if my entire face were to fall off–I’ll circle back and let you know.
See All 1
Do you do anything differently skincare-wise when you travel?
I just amp up the moisture while traveling with masks, heavier creams, and lots of water; otherwise, consistency is key. It’s so tempting to just toss whatever travel-size products I have in my carry-on, but I know I’ll be better off sticking to what I, and my skin, know (which, frankly, is already chaotic enough). I also try to really avoid drinking alcohol, especially while flying, because it is so dehydrating.
What’s something you wish your teenage self knew about taking care of your skin?
You wouldn’t know it by looking at me, but I worked as a lifeguard throughout high school and college and worshipped the sun. I didn’t wear much SPF because I just wanted to be as tan as possible. I looked like a Wendy Peffercorn/Tan Mom hybrid which is fine if that’s your look, but I do wish I would’ve taken sunscreen more seriously.

This post off of one of Glossier’s social media sites exemplifies how Glossier defies traditional norms of advertising in the beauty community. Here, two generations of women are shown using the product. Wrinkly or smooth, gray or chestnut- beauty has no single image associated with it.

Imagine this: You’re on a noisy street in SoHo, which leads you to a modern office building. You enter through unmarked doors, then take a sleek elevator up a few floors. Upon arrival, you’re greeted by friendly faces, and on the wall in front of you is a beautiful close-up of a woman; her skin is radiant. To your left is a midcentury-modern pink couch with pink orchids. You have arrived at the headquarters of the beloved millennial makeup brand Glossier. But this is just the beginning. Sure, this is where the magic happens, and it doesn't take long to understand why this brand has garnered a cult-like following. But besides its straight-up-chic offices, hyped product drops , and highly Instagramable packaging, there are two things, in particular, that have made this beauty brand stand out since its inception five years ago : its connection with its consumers and its approach to beauty. No other beauty brand has quite harnessed the power of consumer feedback and turned it into products like Glossier has—and its most recent development is no exception. In fact, inspired by our cultural obsession with dewy skin, CEO and founder Emily Weiss and her team created the first-of-its-kind, easy-to-use, long-wear hybrid serum-oil, Futuredew , which drops today. Designed to give people the dewy glowy that is most often the result of a multi-step skincare regimen, this oil-based serum, a fountain of youth for your skin, is available for only $24. Read on to learn more about the magic behind Glossier’s new skincare product, plus what happened when yours truly incorporated this wonderous serum into her previously nonexistent skincare routine. “Skincare can be a waiting game,” Weiss explained to several editors at a product preview last week. “So we wanted to create something that kept the post–skincare routine glow instantly while also helping skin over the long term.” She continued, “A lot of people outside the beauty industry struggle with how to build a skincare routine, so we wanted Futuredew to be easy to use no matter your routine.” Surprisingly, Weiss confessed that since Glossier began formulating this serum, it’s the only skincare product she’s been using—yes, really. Her trick to applying it? After washing her face, she quickly applies two pumps all over. Then, based on what she’s feeling, she wears it as a standalone or will apply her everyday makeup. One of the great things about the serum is that you can easily incorporate it into any skincare routine, whether you have a full regimen or nothing at all. It can act as a post-skincare base to makeup, or you can just apply it and go. Like other Glossier products, Futuredew is certified-vegan and cruelty-free . It’s made with a blend of four oils, minerals, sugarcane, and the fruit extract evodia rutaecarpa. The jojoba, grape-seed, evening primrose, and rose-hip oils provide an instant dewy effect while delivering vital moisture, so if you wanted to, you could ditch your moisturizer entirely. The fruit extract is meant to enhance the skin’s brightness over time, the sugarcane locks in moisture, and the minerals create a reflective glow. The question we had was, Is the glow-up actually real? For a skincare novice like myself, I was curious to see if using just the recommended two pumps of Futuredew could change my skin for the better? So I decided to put it to the test. Take a look at my before and after photos coupled with my honest assessment of Glossier’s Futuredew below. Four days of Futuredew usage. Ease of Use: Honestly, I love how easy this product is to use, especially for someone who has limited experience with serums. I’m admittedly not a skincare-routine person—I dedicate more time to my curly hair routine and choosing an outfit every morning—but after washing my face, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Futuredew is super easy and not at all time-consuming to apply. How to Apply: At first, I was skeptical. Upon first glance, it can look a bit too greasy for my liking, but keep in mind this is from the perspective of a woman who typically uses zero products. The serum itself clings nicely to the skin, so once it evaporates a bit, the dewy glow becomes more natural-looking. As far as pairing it with makeup, I added some of my usual Pat McGrath foundation on top of my red spots. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there wasn’t the oiliness I often feel when pairing other products together, which was great. After seven days of Futuredew usage. Duration Expectation: After a few days, I got used to the dewiness, and, dare I say, I looked forward to applying my two little pumps in the morning. I was quite surprised to see my skin still looked pretty dewy after a full day in the office, and it kept my skin feeling effervescent throughout the rest of the evening. Long-Term Effects: I will be the first to admit that the first day I tried Futuredew, my skin was a hot mess. I had a few pimples; a mosquito had attacked me; it was not great. But over a few days of using the serum, my redness died down, and I started to look less like a walking vampire—it seemed to be working. As far as serious long-term usage, I’ll have to keep using it to really feel any lasting effects. That said, using this single product has me sold on this whole skincare routine thing. Final Verdict: It’s definitely a great intro product for anyone who is skincare-averse and prefers a minimalistic approach to their skincare and makeup routines. I honestly can’t be bothered most days to do anything to my face, but I found Futuredew to be a fun way to begin to build my skincare routine, and it was exciting to see myself glisten a bit. As far as if it’s my new holy-grail skincare product, only the future will tell. Shop more of our favorite Glossier products: If you’re using makeup, it’s essential your routine includes removing it to keep your skin healthy. Best cleanser for cleaning your face on a daily basis, if you only want one cleanser use this. If you want a more thorough skincare routine and suffer from acne, add in Glossier’s exfoliating skin perfector. Use it after your cleanser and before you apply any other products. Pro tip: Apply this before using Futuredew to protect your skin. One of our beauty editor Erin Jahn’s favorites, this fun balm offers Lip Smackers nostalgia with a moisturizing finish. We love this for creating a bold but all-natural brow look. It also happens to be one of Glossier’s best-selling products of all time. If you’re not into thick brows, Glossier’s Brow Flick allows you to fill them in without overpowering your face. There’s a lot of mascara in the world, but Glossier just gets it. Beauty editor Courtney Higgs wears this every day. It’s perfect for creating a natural-looking flush. I love finishing off any look with a little gloss, and this Glossier option is perfect for when you want to look polished but don’t have the time to commit to a full lip look. oh how i’ve missed your makeup posts!!! how do you like glossier futuredew?
aw thank you.: been feeling a bit depressed the past few months but have recently been feeling more like myself/into my interests. it’s honestly a fascinating product and my ideal primer. You really do have to put it on right after your moisturizer to get that dewy-all-day staying power. i personally find it most effective when applied over another oil based moisturizer- either an oil-in-cream emulsion like embroylisse or just another face oil. I love how dewy it makes me look all day! it’s part of why I’ve stopped wearing any complexion makeup besides spot concealing-my skin texture looks great already after using it.

NEW POST!! Quarantine Beauty Favorites
Now that I’ve been home about 6 weeks, I’ve gotten into quite a routine with my skincare and occasional dips into makeup. I decided right at the beginning that I wanted to make sure I put on SPF every day, did masks more often, and got some use out of my Glossier Futuredew. Here’s how I’m using all my favorite products lately.

Every morning I begin my day by washing my face,…

OIL. DOES. NOT.
Yes, oil is an occlusive, a “light sheet” in comparison to petrolatum’s “comforter.”

what to apply before oil

Attention: The ‘Glossier Glow’ Now Comes in Bottle Form
If you’ve been longing for glowy, lit-from-within skin but don’t necessarily want to consume the quantities of kale and fish needed to achieve said look, then Glossier’s new product is for you.
Futuredew (CAD$30), an oil-serum hybrid, is the latest innovation from the American beauty brand. The first of its kind for Glossier, Futuredew is described by the brand as “a shortcut to the skin you want – more hydrated, glowing, cared-for – in one long-wearing product.”
Designed to be used as the last step in your skincare routine (after sunscreen and before makeup, says the brand), the idea behind the product is to deliver the glow you get after applying serums/moisturizers but make it last for 12 hours straight. In clinical testing of 31 women done by the brand, 100% of users saw increased radiance immediately, and after four weeks of use, 100% of users observed increased radiance before applying the product, and 96% of participants had improvement in skin texture.

How It Feels: #Futuredew is a silky water-in-oil emulsion that feels richly moisturizing and cushiony 💙 Apply two pumps all over your face as the last step in your skincare routine (after sunscreen). Then apply makeup (or not!) ✨
A post shared by Glossier (@glossier) on Oct 14, 2019 at 10:26am PDT
The product is made using a blend of nourishing oils (jojoba, grape seed, evening primrose and rosehip), as well as evodia rutaecarpa extract (a fruit extract which possesses brightening abilities), sugarcane squalane (for moisture) and light-reflecting minerals (for the glow).
In an interview, Glossier’s VP of product, Kathy Pazakis, said, “We get a lot of half-joking Instagram requests like, ‘How do i get the skin that’s inside that ad campaign?’ or ‘How do I bottle up that Glossier glow?’ And so that was a lot of the inspiration behind why we went after and created this featured product.” Pazakis was also quick to reiterate that the product was created with all skin textures in mind, not simply those genetically-blessed with perfect skin. “We sometimes get comments like, ‘Oh, Glossier is for people who have perfect skin already.’ And yes, I mean, the models look amazing but one of the things that we really loved about this product and we thought a lot about when were developing it is how it works no matter where you are in your skincare journey.”

My Monthly Favorites - Best of 2019 Beauty Products
by Rosy Day Blog
I just realized I haven't posted any of my monthly favorites since April 2019. I think I've had a lot of different products to try out/post about on social media, so I just really forgot about the monthly/semi-monthly blog posts. If you've been following me for awhile now, it's the usual excuses, right? LOL. I can't guarantee I'll do more postings this year, but at least now I'm able to share my favorite products from 2019 (even if it's about a month late). Some of the products aren't "new" favorites, but are older products that I didn't realize how much I loved or needed in my routine until I started using them again. Always a wonderful feeling right?
» View All Monthly Favorites
SKINCARE
Cleanser
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
I love this cleanser because at least for me, it seems to help keep my skin nice and supple every time I use it (mainly because of all the amino acids). It’s also very gentle and one of the few cleansers that my sensitive skin can actually take (this is low pH). Some might not like the smell, but it just smells like cucumber infused water to me. It is also kind of pricey for a cleanser, but you get a freaking 5.1 oz. Some brands are cheaper but they barely give you like 3.4 oz. This stuff does last me over 4 months, so no worries there. Interesting ingredients include soybean oil (antioxidant, smooths & moisturizes skin w/ vitamin E and fatty acids), sunflower seed oil, starflower seed oil (restores moisture & smoothness), aloe barbadensis leaf juice (soothing & anti-inflammatory), cucumber fruit extract, damask rose extract & flower water, cornflower extract (anti-inflammatory, diminish fine lines & tone skin around eyes), soybean sterols (anti-inflammatory & skin conditioning), panax ginseng root extract (skin smoothing & firming), damask rose flower oil (soothing & pore tightening), and hydrolyzed soy protein (anti-aging & firming). » Buy Product
Cleansing/Light Exfoliating Toner
Son & Park Beauty Water
I keep coming back to this toner because it gives me daily but gentle exfoliation (I don't do well with very strong actives), and is one of the few things that helps get rid of those pesky dry flakes on my skin. Sometimes it's just not enough to properly hydrate, but you do need a gentle product to help clear out dead skin in order to see new, hydrated skin. This also makes a great multi-tasker when I need to cleanse and tone all in one (I don't wear much makeup most of the time anyway). Normal to oily skin would love this, though it's not the most hydrating when you're more dry. No one said you're not allowed to use a thicker, more hydrating toner after this (in fact many use more than one toner in their routine). Interesting ingredients include rosa damascena flower water (soothing & pore tightening), witch hazel (fights acne & inflammation), bergamot fruit oil (anti-bacterial & antibiotic), olive fruit oil (vitamin A & E), grapefruit peel oil (toning & firming), papaya fruit water (exfoliating & brightening), jasmine oil (anti-aging & moisturizing), anise fruit/seed oil (smoothing & tightening), artemisia absinthium extract (healing & protecting), tea tree leaf extract (anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial), and rosemary leaf extract (antioxidant & improves circulation). » Buy Product
First Treatment Essence
Then I Met You The Giving Essence
This has 80% ferments: galactomyces (nourish and revitalize skin & reduce/delay aging), aspergillus (skin lightening & reducing melanin), and saccharomyces (hydrating & balancing). Other interesting ingredients include niacinamide (brightening & balancing), aloe barbadensis leaf juice (soothing & anti-inflammatory), ellagic acid (an antioxidant that prevents sun damage, blocks MMP that breaks down collagen& reduces ICAM that causes inflammation; lightening properties rivals that of hydroquinone and tretinoin), black chokeberry (one of the berries/fruit with the highest levels of antioxidants, anti-aging & skin calming), polyglutamic acid (water-soluable peptide that holds 4x more moisture than hyaluronic acid), red algae (brightening & reducing dark spots), and purslane (more omega-3 fatty acids than fish oil). There is also 11 additional berries (high in antioxidants and vitamins for fighting free radical damage; they can also help skin look brighter & more even-toned). I love this product because it has some ingredients that are different from other essences, especially the ellagic acid and algae (my skin loves this ingredient). There isn't much to see results-wise since I take pretty good care of my skin, but my skin always looks just a little bit healthier after using this overtime. » Buy Product
Anti-Aging Serum
The Ordinary "Buffet"
Just like I am with food, sometimes I get greedy and want a little bit of everything. The appropriately named "Buffet" serum does just that. Serious anti-aging ingredients include: Syn-Ake peptide complex, Matrixyl 3000 and Matrixyl Synthe'6 peptide complexes, and Relistase peptide complex. Probiotics are also included for balancing and and strengthening skin's defenses. As cheap as this is (it's about $15 USD for 1 oz.), you might think that this product is too good to be true. Maybe it is at that price point, but I do know that my face seems to stay nice and firm the longer that I use this and anti-aging is all about prevention anyway. I don't know if it's actually improving my wrinkles, but I'd rather not let them get worse and this little bottle has tons of good stuff (and proven anti-aging ingredients) inside. » Buy Product
Brightening & Hydrating Serum
Bliss Glow & Hydrate
I've never realized how good niacinamide was until I bought this, which claims to have "spa grade" niacinamide. Yes, many skincare products already have niacinamide in them, but it's a big difference when you use a product that has a good percentage of niacinamide (it should be within the top 3 ingredients). This pairs perfectly after my vitamin C serum and its thicker emulsion-like consistency makes it fairly hydrating as well. If you want brighter, more even skin, unless you're super sensitive to these 2 ingredients - all you really need is vitamin C and niacinamide. Niacinamide also helps with balancing your skin and minimizing pores. Interesting ingredients include aloe barbadensis leaf juice (soothing & anti-inflammatory), licorice root (reduces under-eye circles, discoloration & age spots), soybean oil (antioxidant, smooths & moisturizes skin w/ vitamin E and fatty acids), sunflower seed oil (vitamin E & good for acne/redness/irritation), oat kernel oil (rich in lipids & fatty acids), and shea butter (healing & highly moisturizing). » Buy Product
Hydrating Eye Cream
Glossier Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream
As much as I love a good brightening and/or anti-aging eye cream, sometimes all you need is a good hydrating eye cream to help smooth fine lines and give your eyes some moisture to wake them up a bit. Yes this eye cream is a bit basic, but I love it for during the day as it smooths my eyes enough that any fine lines are reduced, and makes any makeup I apply after less likely to crease. In fact, all this smoothness and lack of creasing has made my eye area look more youthful. It doesn't do anything for brightening, but that's what I use vitamin C and niacinamide for. And if I need more serious anti-wrinkle power, I can always use an eye cream that tackles that for night. A lot of people rave about the Belif Aqua Bomb Eye Cream, but that gave me millia. This one doesn't and it comes in a convenient pump. It does slightly plump your lips/preps them for lipstick, etc. as well, but I prefer to use Bubblewrap for my eyes only. Interesting ingredients include squalane (balances oil production & anti-aging), avocado oil (healing & calms itchy skin), peptide complex, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, blueberry fruit extract, purslane, swertia, and sunflower seed oil. » Buy Product
Facial Oil/Hydrating Primer
Glossier Futuredew
I was afraid of using this because I tend to be more oily but I think that this is very wearable no matter what your skin type (unless you're sensitive/allergic to any of the ingredients). Dry skin probably needs the recommended 2 pumps, normal/combo can do 1 pump, and if you're extremely oily you can just use this on the high points of your face like a highlighter. Depending how much you use and how many layers of skincare you used prior to the Futuredew (also if you use foundation after), this can give you anywhere from a subtle lit from within/highlighter glow to a semi-wet type of look. I love this because for me it's a good facial oil/primer hybrid and it seems to make me look healthier whenever I use it. My face seems to stay nice and plump as well. I don't know if it has any long term benefits but it's always a plus to at least hydrate. Interesting ingredients include squalane (balances oil production & anti-aging), jojoba, evening primrose (anti-inflammatory, soothes acne & prevents future breakouts), olive, grape seed, rosa canina fruit, evodia rutaecarpa fruit, and rosemary. » Buy Product
Hydrating Lip Balm
Biossance Rose Vegan Lip Balm
Although this seems like your basic petroleum jelly-like lip balm in a pot, I do love how this is vegan and I can smell a bit of the rose in here. Lip balm is very hard to recommend because what can work for you can be very drying for me and vice versa. My favorite way to use this is just a standard hydrating balm and then I'll layer a tinted lip balm or other colored lip product over it (if during the day) or the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask to seal in the hydration before sleeping (if at night). I feel like this does plump my lips a bit but nothing too drastic that someone would really notice. Interesting ingredients include squalane, ceramide NP, rosa damascena, and undaria pinnatifida. » Buy Product
Tinted Lip Balm
Milk Kush Lip Balm
I'll admit I bought this because of the CBD, but this is a nice tinted lip balm if you're like me and prefer a hint of color rather than full on lipstick. Because of my full lips, I stopped wearing lipstick since I also got some on my chin everytime I ate food (not a pretty sight). Tinted lip balms, I don't have that problem and they're very easy to re-apply as you don't need a mirror like you do with lipstick. While this isn't the most hydrating tinted lip balm (I recommend the more expensive Fresh lip balms), I do like how fairly cheap (compared to Fresh) these are and they don't necessarily make my lips drier. If I really do have dry lips, I use something like the Biossance Vegan Rose Lip Balm first, and then this. Or I just make sure to properly moisturize with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask the night before. Interesting ingredients include olive oil, jojoba, shea butter, sunflower, mango butter, moringa oil, coconut oil, cocoa seed butter, cannabis sativa, and rosemary. » Buy Product
Light Soothing & Hydrating Mask
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
Lightly hydrating, making it perfect for more oily skin and/or warmer temps. I keep coming back to this because despite it not advertising much other than hydration and a restful sleep due to their Sleep Tox technology, this is actually pretty soothing. I always seems to calm down any inflamed pores I have by the next morning, yet isn't so overly hydrating/suffocating. Interesting ingredients include evening primrose root (anti-inflammatory, soothes acne & prevents future breakouts), apricot (removes blemishes & improves skin tone), beta-glucan (skin healing & collagen building), quinoa seed (treats acne & brightens skin), and ascorbyl glucoside (water soluble derivative of vitamin C). » Buy Product
MAKEUP
Makeup Primer
Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer
At first I was afraid that this would be too hydrating but it's actually just hydrating enough for my combination skin without adding grease. I know some people might not like the stickiness/tackiness of this product, but this reminds me of a less sticky (and better) version of the J.One Jelly. I liked how that product made my face look before and after makeup application, but I hated all the additional slapping I had to do on my face and it seemed to take forever to absorb (not good if you're in a rush). With the Hydro Grip Primer, you still have to kind of pat it into your face/slap it around a bit but it's not as bad and your face is ready for foundation after about 50 to 55 seconds (but don't wait longer than a minute). I never once thought primers did a great job of keeping my makeup look fresh throughout the day, but this one does. I look almost the same by the end of the day. Even more amazing is I accidentally fell asleep with my makeup on and the very next day, it was still intact and looked fairly fresh, LOL. I'm not suggesting you should try that, but just saying...It does happen that you fall asleep with makeup on sometimes. Interesting ingredients include aloe barbadensis, agave tequilana, niacinamide, cannabis sativa, opuntia ficus-indica flower, and prunus avium flower. » Buy Product
Foundation
Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation
Having combination skin, I used to think this foundation was a tad drying around my nose area but that was because I wasn't properly moisturizing around the clock and my skin benefits the best from gentle, but daily exfoliation. My favorite way to wear this is to make sure my skin is hydrated enough, prime with the Glossier Futuredew and/or Milk Hydro Grip Primer, and I get a nice glowy but not greasy look. I do like dewy looks, but I find if you specifically use dewy/hydrating foundations, they don't last long. I think it's better to use hydrating skincare (that's right for your skin type), and then use a matte foundation over. The matte foundation lasts longer than the dewy/hydrating types, but you are still hydrating from within because of your skincare. I also prefer to apply this very sparingly (like tinted moisturizer) with my fingers. Fingers are best to avoid dry spots and weird creasing areas in my opinion. I wear this in the shade Medium Light. » Buy Product
Mascara Base
Lancome Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base
I already have a mascara that I love, but if you really want more of a false eyelashes look, you should definitely use a good mascara base like this one. I feel like it always improves the stay power of your mscara, though I always use waterproof mascara to prevent/limit smudging anyway. I don't use this all the time, but just when I want some more oomph with my lashes. Most of the time I go bare or just more simple with my mascara. Interesting ingredients include rice brand wax, carnauba wax, bees wax, and candelilla wax. » Buy Product
Volumizing Mascara
L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara
This was recommended to me by a Target employee and it's probably the best (and affordable) mascara that I've used so I keep coming back to this. Though my eye lashes are naturally fairly long and curled, this just takes them up 1-2 notches depending on my application. I always get this in waterproof (because when you have long lashes mascara smudges everytime you blink) and in the color Blackest Blck. » Buy Product
HAIR & BODY CARE
Dry/Itchy Scalp Treatment
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo
It's hard to find a good shampoo for a dry, itchy scalp. Popular Head & Shoulders actually makes my scalp more dry for some reason. Now, the Briogeo isn't perfect, but because of its ingredients, it does help with this weird eczema-like rash I currently have on the back of my head (no thanks to trying out some Kristin Ess shampoo and conditioner which I will never use again). I love the minty smell and it does feel a bit cooling on my scalp as well. The only thing I hate is that since it comes in a jar, I always have a bit of water from the shower going into it. Since this is a scrub shampoo, you don't necessarily have to stop using your favorite shampoo if you have one. You can just use the Briogeo once or twice a week, or as needed to keep your scalp healthy. The larger sized jar is ery expensive so I'm unsure if I will re-purchase at this time to be honest, but I at least want to try other products in their scalp care line. Interesting ingredients include binchotan charcoal, coconut oil, tea tree, ginger root, and panthenol. » Buy Product
Hair Oil
Verb Ghost Hair Oil
I already love the Verb Ghost Shampoo and Conditioner, so it's only natural that I love their hair oil from the same line for finishing my hair as well. Whether I blow dry or air dry my hair, I like to use a little bit of this over the end ends/bottom half of my hair to calm flyaways and make it look sleek and shiny (thought this does look nicer when you've had the time to actually blow dry your hair). Interesting ingredients include argan, rice bran, bamboo, soy protein, and moringa. » Buy Product
Hydrating SPF
Kylie Skin Body Oil Spray
Say what you will about Kylie Jenner (I'm not some crazed Kylie fan) but I legit love this body oil spray. It smells good and is a very convenient way to apply SPF. I get dry skin and I like never have the time to properly hydrate before applying sunscreen and leaving my apartment. Most body sunscreens are very thick and seem to take forever to rub down before it leaves a slight white cast and dries out your skin. I now have another hydrating sunscreen that I use as well, but I just like reaching for this one because of the scent and I can just spray and go for the most part. Toning & Firming Body Cream
Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Cream
This is hyped for a reason. I feel like this not only firms your butt (it's just the name of the cream) but it firms everywhere else you apply it. My arms were a bit dry so I decided to apply some on there and my bf commented it looked like I've been working out a bit on my arms. Now, keep in mind I'm already fairly small, so it's not like just applying this cream will automatically make it look like you've been hitting the gym. The scent, while popular with most, I do feel is a bit strong. This is why I mainly use this at night before bed. I always feel a bit self conscious like I'm giving the people around me a headache from the scent. It's so strong, it definitely lingers onto the next day. Interesting ingredients include guaraná, coconut, açaí, carrot, ilex guayusa, ilex paraguariensis, brazil nut, and squalane. » Buy Product
GADGETS
Skin Infusion Device
Spa Sciences Aero
I’ve often heard how you should warm up a product in your hand or between your fingers before applying...This takes it to another level - like you’re ironing the wrinkles off your face...Aero is one of the very few skin care infusion devices I’ve come across that heats up in addition to the ionic and sonic technologies. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a product that heated up, but upon first use, it felt quite nice and maybe even a bit relaxing. I don’t know if there’s any truth to stimulating collagen production...But we exercise our bodies to keep it firm and young, why not our face?
