draw prediction,
draw prediction,
In the dynamic world of sports betting, predicting the outcome of a match is both an art and a science. Among the various types of bets, draw prediction stands out for its unique challenges and potential rewards. Understanding how to effectively predict draws can elevate a bettor’s strategy, making it a crucial skill for both novice and experienced gamblers.
Understanding the Basics A draw, or a tie, occurs when both teams or players finish the game with the same score. While often seen as a less likely outcome compared to a win or loss, draws are more common in certain sports like soccer, cricket, and chess. This prediction requires a deep understanding of the sport, the teams or players involved, and several other factors.
Key Factors Influencing Draws Team or Player Form: Analyzing recent performances can provide insights into the likelihood of a draw. Teams or players on a losing streak might adopt more defensive strategies, increasing the chances of a draw.
Head-to-Head Records: Historical data can reveal patterns in previous encounters. Some teams or players consistently draw when facing each other, making their matchups prime candidates for a draw bet.
Injury Reports and Lineups: The absence of key players can significantly impact a team's performance. Teams missing their top scorers might struggle to secure a win, leading to a potential draw.
Playing Styles: Defensive teams or those known for their strong backline often have higher draw rates. Understanding the tactical approach of both teams can provide valuable clues.
Match Context: The importance of the game can influence the likelihood of a draw. In tournaments, teams might play conservatively in the knockout stages to avoid elimination, leading to more draws.
Analytical Tools and Models Modern technology offers numerous tools and models to aid in draw prediction:
Statistical Software: Programs like SPSS or R can analyze vast amounts of data to identify trends and patterns that might not be immediately apparent. Machine Learning: Advanced algorithms can process historical data, current form, and other variables to predict the probability of a draw. Betting Exchanges: Platforms where bettors can see the odds set by others, providing a real-time sentiment analysis of the likelihood of a draw. Practical Tips for Betting on Draws Specialize in One Sport: Each sport has its nuances. Focusing on one sport allows for deeper understanding and more accurate predictions. Monitor Odds Movements: Sudden changes in odds can indicate insider information or shifting sentiments that might signal a higher likelihood of a draw. Diversify Bets: Spread bets across multiple matches rather than placing all stakes on a single draw. This strategy minimizes risk. Stay Updated: Constantly follow news, injury reports, and other relevant information. The more current your data, the better your predictions. Conclusion Predicting draws in sports betting combines statistical analysis, historical data, and an understanding of the game’s intricacies. While challenging, mastering draw predictions can provide a significant edge in the betting world. By leveraging both traditional insights and modern technology, bettors can improve their accuracy and increase their chances of success. As with all forms of betting, responsible gambling should always be practiced to ensure a positive and sustainable experience.

Unlocking the Mystery of Satta King: Your Guide to Live Results
In the realm of gambling in India, the term "Satta King" holds a mystique of its own. For decades, it has captivated the hearts and minds of many enthusiasts, offering a blend of thrill, excitement, and the promise of quick riches. But what exactly is Satta King, and why does it command such a dedicated following? In this guide, we delve into the world of Satta King, uncovering its origins, how it works, and where to find live results.
Tumblr media
Understanding Satta King:
Satta King traces its roots back to the pre-independence era of India when it emerged as a form of speculative gambling on the price of cotton transmitted from the New York Cotton Exchange. Over time, it evolved into a complex network of betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton transmitted from the Bombay Cotton Exchange to the New York Cotton Exchange. As the game gained popularity, it expanded to include wagering on other forms of entertainment, such as cricket matches, and eventually, even local events and politics.
The allure of Satta King lies in its simplicity and potential for massive payouts. Participants, known as "players," place bets on certain numbers or combinations, with the hope that their chosen picks will be declared the winning ones. The game operates through a network of "Satta companies" or "bookies," who facilitate the placing of bets and announce results at predetermined times.
How Does Satta King Work?
At its core, Satta King is a game of chance, relying heavily on luck rather than skill or strategy. To participate, players select a set of numbers ranging from 00 to 99 and place their bets with a chosen bookie. These bets can be placed on single numbers, combinations of numbers, or even the sum of the numbers.
Once all bets are placed, the bookie closes the betting for that particular round and starts accepting bets for the next round.
The winning number or combination is then determined through a draw conducted by a random process. The results are typically announced at specified times, often multiple times a day, depending on the Satta company's schedule.
Finding Live Results:
In the digital age, accessing live results for Satta King has become more convenient than ever. Several websites and mobile applications provide real-time updates on the outcomes of various Satta games, allowing players to stay informed and engaged.
One popular platform for checking live results is the Satta King website, which offers a user-friendly interface and timely updates on game outcomes. Additionally, there are several third-party apps available for both Android and iOS devices that provide similar functionalities, allowing players to track results on the go.
Tips for Safe and Responsible Play:
While the allure of Satta King may be strong, it's essential to approach the game with caution and responsibility. Here are some tips to help you enjoy Satta King in a safe and controlled manner:
Set a Budget: Before participating in Satta King, establish a budget for your betting activities and stick to it. Avoid chasing losses or betting more than you can afford to lose.
Play for Entertainment: Treat Satta King as a form of entertainment rather than a means to make money. Remember that the odds are stacked against you, and winning is never guaranteed.
Avoid Illegal Bookies: While Satta King is widely popular in India, it's important to steer clear of illegal bookies and underground gambling networks. Stick to reputable platforms and licensed operators to ensure a fair and transparent gaming experience.
Know When to Stop: If you find yourself getting carried away or experiencing negative emotions such as frustration or anxiety, take a step back and reevaluate your participation. Know when to stop and walk away from the game.
Seek Support if Needed: If you or someone you know is struggling with compulsive gambling behavior, don't hesitate to seek help from professional support services or helplines.
In Conclusion:
Satta King continues to hold a special place in the hearts of gambling enthusiasts across India, offering a unique blend of excitement and anticipation. While the game can be thrilling, it's crucial to approach it with caution and responsibility. By understanding how Satta King works, accessing live results through reliable platforms, and playing responsibly, you can enjoy the game while minimizing the risks involved. Remember, in the world of Satta King, luck may be the ultimate decider, but responsible play is always a winning strategy.

pairing: mason x f!detective (amihan marasigan) rating: T (no smut, mostly because of subject matter) warnings: mentions of body image issues (nothing too detailed/explicit but it is mentioned)
summary: alternate rooftop scene where amihan reveals one of the reasons she’s keeping back from sleeping with mason (soft!m is present)
(tagging @oxjenayxo you said you wanted to be notified when it was up! ty!)                                                            ___ The rough stone of the roof is cold under Amihan’s palms. She wonders how this wasn’t too much for Mason - the biting frost of the night air. But then again, as he said the rooftop was quiet. And she too, can feel a comforting wave of peace fall upon her. Even if it were just that moment.
And also there was that, the comfortable silence she can have with him. One she found was hard to find with anyone else besides Tina. She can barely see anything past the hazy shadow of the trees (she should really wear her glasses more often), but the unknown of the dark doesn’t scare her. She glances at the proximity of her hands next to Mason’s. The temptation to move it closer is there. It’s always there, the want to be closer to him.
“So you can’t sleep?” Mason asks. It’s earnest with a hint of teasing. He wraps his arms around himself, pulling his leather coat tighter against him.
“Nope,” Amihan replies. It’s not till then she realizes that the panicked thudding in chest has slowed. The remnants of the nightmare are slowly, but surely leaving her mind.
“I can think of a few ways to tire you out,” he says, smirk audible.
Ahh there he is. Amihan chuckles. She pulls her knees against her chest, daring not to look at Mason or his gleaming eyes right now.
“Of course you do,” she returns in jest. She can feel the heat of his gaze and every time, it’s almost enough to make her give in.
“The offer is always there, sweetheart.”
The way he purrs “sweetheart” churns undeniable desire in her belly. She wonders how it’d sound against her ear while his hands are on her skin. She dares to look at him, not attempting to hide the flush on her cheeks. Even if she tried, he could always tell.
His gaze is intense, moonlight tracing the sharp angles of his gorgeous face. Sometimes it’s too much looking at him, Amihan thinks.
“Hm,” she says, pressing her cheek against her knee, “I bet you’ll take that offer right back once you really see me.”
Mason raises a brow, genuine confusion falling onto his face.
“What do you mean?”
His tone is surprisingly serious.
Amihan picks at the hem of her sweatpants. She assumed he would lead this into some joke, or another opportunity to flirt.
She wonders if he’s playing along or if he really means it. Surely he knows what she means, and she hopes he does, because the thought of having to say it out loud makes her skin crawl.
“You know what I mean,” she says as lightheartedly as possible, though she knows Mason is aware of how serious she is. She shifts in her position and turns back to look at the dark, seemingly never-ending shadows of the woods.
“I don’t,” Mason replies, without a hint of sarcasm or snark in his words.
Amihan sucks in her cheeks, sitting straight up. The raw edges of the skin by her fingernails look tempting now. She moves a hand to pick at it, before pulling her hoodie sleeve over her hand. No, not now. You’ve been doing well.
“Here’s the truth. Mason, I really want you,” Amihan begins, instead fiddling with the loose thread on her hoodie sleeve, “I really, really want you and it’s frightening to me. Because you’ve made it clear that you do too. But part of me believes you’re doing it as a joke or for a laugh. And another part believes that if I do give in you’ll change your mind.”
“Sweetheart,” he replies, “If I didn’t mean it, I wouldn’t be dragging it out this long. I wouldn’t have flirted with you to begin with.”
Amihan lets out a long exhale. Mason has never lied, has never been false about his intentions. Everything that’s happened has been proof of that - but why this, the fact that he wants her in that way was so hard to believe?
“That’s good to know,” she manages to say. She can’t look at him now. “But what if you don’t like what you see?”
Mason furrows his brows, once again, genuine confusion falling onto his face.
“I obviously like what I see-”
“Once we get intimate. What if you don’t like how I look then,” she quickly interjects, biting the inside of her cheek. She’s thought of those words forever, but saying them out loud feels like unearthing something deep and awful.
For once Mason is stunned silent.
“Why wouldn’t I like-”
“Because I’m ugly,” she interjects again, fearing a frustrated response from him. She’s relieved when it doesn’t come.
He pauses to say something, but not before Amihan can continue.
“And no, I’m not fishing for sympathy or whatever. It’s why I never bring this up.”
A torrent of tears trickles down her cheeks. Embarrassing.
She begind to stand up and leave. That was enough of that. That was not where she was hoping it’d go.
“Amihan.”
Mason has never said her name before - or at least, never from what she can remember. It’s enough to make her freeze in her steps.
“Embarrassing, I know,” she says, her back turned.
“No,” Mason says. She hears him get up.
“Well,” Amihan sniffs, wiping her face with her sleeve, “Tell me now if you no longer want anything to do with me.”
She feels his footsteps close in, the warmth of his presence coming nearer.
“It might sound disingenuous,” he says, “But I do, still want you. But if it’s something that makes you uncomfortable, I won’t push it anymore.”
Amihan sighs, pang stinging in her chest.
“But that’s just the thing, it doesn’t. I want nothing more than to…,” she trails off, “I just. I hate how I look. I hate how my body looks and I am so scared you will too.”
She finally turns to face him, blinking away tears. There’s a certain softness in his eyes she doesn’t think she’s ever seen. He shoves his hands in his pocket and looks at her.
“I have no idea if it means anything coming from me, but I won’t,” he assures, “You’re stunning.”
There’s a gentleness in his final words that make Amihan’s stomach leap. It frightens her too.
“I don’t believe it, but...thank you,” she replies.
“I’d like to make you believe it,” he smirks, “Even if it doesn’t involve...that.”
Amihan can’t help the smile it coaxes.
“So tell me now,” he says, more serious this time, “Would you like me to stop?”
Amihan rocks back and forth on her heels. She looks at his eyes, gleaming as always.
“No,” she answers, “But...it might take. A while.”
He runs a hand through his hair, chuckling.
“I have forever, sweetheart.”
The weight of his reply is heavier than she expected.
                                                    _____________
As Amihan walks away, the sound of her heartbeat grows faint, as does the feeling of peace that had enveloped Mason.
Suddenly, the crickets are too loud, the breeze too frosty, and the stone roof too rough beneath his skin. He pulls his jacket tighter against him. When he can no longer hear Amihan’s heartbeat, he pulls a cigarette from his pocket and lights it, dampening the sensory overload.
He takes a long drag and exhales. He thinks about Amihan - something he finds himself doing often, almost all the time. He ignores the desire to just have her close.
What bothers him even more than the rattling of tree branches, was that Amihan had meant everything she said earlier. He knows what lies feel like, even half truths, but very few people have ever laid anything so raw and bare before him. His brows knot at the notion that Amihan finds herself ugly.
It’s ridiculous. He doesn’t understand why it bothers him.
Had anyone else said that about Amihan, a quick fist to the jaw would fix it. But what now that it’s Amihan herself? There’s a want in him to prove to her that what she believes is wrong. Because it’s wrong.
Amihan is beautiful.
And for a moment there, the fear of Amihan telling him to back off was too real. And the fear, maybe wasn’t from not being able to get intimate with her. Maybe the fear was from the idea of no longer being able to be around her.
The idea makes his head spin.
He takes another drag from the cigarette. He can see the sun peeking from the horizon. It’s almost time to crawl back to his room.

When Lan Wangji tells Wei Ying to go pester somebody else, he doesn’t expect him to actually do it. But the next morning, Wei Ying passes him wordlessly in the corridor like a cold breeze. In the library later that same day, Wei Ying never once throws a crumpled paper or a deliberately provocative statement his way. Instead, Wei Ying copies the text dutifully, pausing every once in a while to stretch or sigh. When the time is up, he opens his mouth like he's about to say something, and Lan Wangji tenses with anticipation. But then Wei Ying's lips close, his brow furrows, and he turns, departing without so much as a goodbye.
Lan Wangji is stunned.
He sits motionlessly, staring at the space where Wei Ying stood just moments before, trying to puzzle out what just happened. Maybe Wei Ying found a new distraction. He wonders briefly what--or who--it could be, then catches himself. Turning his attention back to the text in front of him, Lan Wangji tries to disregard the ever-expanding feeling of tension in his chest.
He doesn’t see Wei Ying again until the next day’s lecture--although “see” is perhaps not the right word. Aside from a quick, initial glance darted in Wei Ying’s direction, Lan Wangji spends the rest of the lecture steadfastly ignoring him. For once, he is able to. No paper men come creeping up over his shoulder. No drawings find their way onto his desk, no jokes are hissed in his direction. It’s not until he hears the familiar whispering that he finally darts a furtive glance in the culprit’s direction. It’s Wei Ying, of course. He’s leaned over his desk, grin wide and eyes shining--the same way he usually looks when trying to pester Lan Wangji. The boy in front of him--a cousin of Nie Huaisang, Lan Wangji thinks, although he isn’t certain--tilts his head so that his ear is pointed toward Wei Ying’s fast-moving lips. His breath catches, and both their shoulders shake as they fight to suppress giggles.
Lan Wangji looks away.
The next time Lan Wangji sees Wei Ying, he is accompanied by Jiang Wanyin, Nie Huaisang and the nameless cousin. They are on the other side of the courtyard, headed in the opposite direction from Lan Wangji. He wonders where they are going. After all, it is only natural to be concerned--anyone would be--since wherever Wei Ying goes, trouble is sure to start. As he ponders, Lan Wangji catches snippets of their conversation.
"See?" Wei Ying says, tossing Jiang Wanyin a winning smile--the one that always does something funny to Lan Wangji's stomach. "I told you I could do it."
Jiang Wanyin snorts, skeptical. "Whatever! I saw you stealing glances when you thought no one was looking. You won't last even one more day."
"Who says I can't? You make it sound like I'm obsessed."
"Aren't you?" Jiang Wanyin quips back. Wei Ying gives him a sour look.
"I think Wei-xiong can definitely do it," Nie Huaisang says confidently. His cousin nods in agreement. Wei Ying immediately brightens.
"Of course I can! Jiang Cheng, I hope you have more money than you do faith, because by the end of this week you better be ready to pay up."
Are they talking about  . . . a bet? Lan Wangji frowns. Gambling is forbidden in the Cloud Recesses, since all games of chance should be avoided by men of virtue. He considers intervening.
At that moment, Wei Ying looks up, their gazes locking across the distance. The concerns that just seconds ago seemed so pressing to Lan Wangji vanish. He waits for Wei Ying to call out to him, waits for him to come racing over with that embarrassingly obvious enthusiasm that Lan Wangji does not understand but has somehow grown to expect.
Wei Ying looks away.
Lan Wangji's chest tightens like a vice. He watches as Wei Ying throws an arm over his new friend’s shoulder, and the four of them round the corner, disappearing until nothing but the echo of their laughter remains.
 ----
Over the next few days, Lan Wangji has more time to practice guqin. He completes all his readings and even has spare time for additional studies. None of his meditation sessions are interrupted. Best of all, he does not find himself in any unexpected or disgraceful situations.
So why does he feel so ill at ease?
“Wangji.”
Lan Xichen’s gaze is gentle, like a warm hand on his cheek. They have just finished eating with their uncle. Now they stand outside, surrounded by a curtain of cricket song under the evening sky.
“Something troubles you,” Lan Xichen says. Lan Wangji's lips purse. A second passes. Lan Xichen’s chin dips slightly, eyes carefully reading his brother’s expression. “Is it . . . young master Wei?"
Lan Wangji swallows. His brother smiles.
“If something troubles you, or you are worried for your friend, perhaps you should try speaking with him.”
The thought of approaching Wei Ying makes Lan Wangji's stomach flip. What would he say? Should he apologize for speaking harshly? No, he could never apologize to that flippant Wei Ying, who flouts his disregard for propriety like a badge of honor. Wei Ying, who pokes his nose into other people’s business, who sniffs out trouble like a dog digging for a bone. Wei Ying, who flutters his eyelashes and tosses out handsome smiles like casting a net over a flock of butterflies. Whose whims change as easily as the wind, first carrying him to Lan Wangji before whisking him off to someone else.
Lan Wangji quickly changes the subject by asking his brother if there has been any progress with the investigation. Lan Xichen lightly reproves his inquisitiveness, but seems to understand. The topic of Wei Ying is closed.
 ----
Since the Yunmemg Jiang sect's arrival at the Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji has broken many rules. He has fought without permission. He has acted impulsively. He has even used a bad word to hurt others. Today he is dangerously close to breaking another rule, because when he spots Wei Ying in Caiyi Town, he instantly finds himself of two minds. Wei Ying flits about the stalls, handling knickknacks like an excited, greedy child. There is a pleasurable squeeze in Lan Wangji’s lower abdomen as he watches--the sensation of something missing sliding into place. He takes a step forward, then stops, shocked at himself. How dare he approach Wei Ying? Especially when his brother has sent him on an important task, no less. His grip tightens around the pouch of herbs in his hand--the object of his errand. No time for distractions. He should hurry back to the Cloud Recesses.
At that moment, Wei Ying stills. His posture is familiar to Lan Wangji--a barely perceptible tilt of the head, a slight stiffness in the neck. He’s thinking. Planning. Deciding what to do. His gaze slowly slips away from the trinket in his hand and gravitates in the direction of Lan Wangji. Mouth dry, Lan Wangji waits for those eyes to find him, to brighten with recognition.
'Wei Ying.' He thinks the name with all his strength, as if somehow Wei Ying will hear him.
But he must not, because Wei Ying suddenly turns away.
"Ugh, I'm hungry," he declares. "Li-xiong! Hey, Li-xiong. Feed me something good!"
Nie Huaisang and his cousin float into view, followed by a typically sour-faced Jiang Wanyin.
"Didn't you just eat?” Jiang Wanyin scolds. “How can you complain so much and waste other people's money?"
"I've been training a lot lately," Wei Ying whines. "Working so hard, I should be careful to eat more, right?"
Wei Ying nudges him impishly, then returns his attention to his new friend.
"Li-xiong agrees with me, right? That's why he'll take us somewhere good to eat."
He reaches out and starts to tug on "Li-xiong's" sleeve. Lan Wangji's jaw tightens. He watches as Nie Huaisang joins in on the disgraceful display, whining and tugging on his cousin. Laughing, the cousin relents.
"Fine, fine! But let's find a place to sit down and have a drink."
Wei Ying wags his finger. "Ehhh, Li-xiong, you rascal! I like your style."
'Shameless,' Lan Wangji thinks. 'Boring.' But his feet don't move, nor does the lump in his throat, nor Wei Ying's hand as it clutches the other boy’s sleeve. Wei Ying has touched Lan Wangji that way before. At the time, Lan Wangji had been surprised by the sudden warmth. Speechless, he merely glared until Wei Ying let go, wincing. But this boy is not glaring. He is smiling, laughing, as if Wei Ying's touch is nothing special. He and Wei Ying must touch each other frequently, Lan Wangji realizes, and the lump in his throat swells until it hurts to breathe.
‘It’s supposed to be me,’ he thinks, and the thought is so abrupt and so inappropriate that it steals his breath away.
"Hey," Jiang Wanyin says suddenly, and Lan Wangji realizes with a start that he's staring in his direction. "Isn't that Second Young Master Lan?"
By the time Wei Ying turns around to look--if he even bothers to, as distracted as he is by his new friend--Lan Wangji is already gone. And this time, Lan Wangji doesn’t expect Wei Ying to follow.
 ----
That night, Lan Wangji tells himself that he isn’t waiting for Wei Ying to come back. But when he hears the voices outside, he is suddenly and unequivocally enraged. Darkness has long since fallen, and the dormitories of the Cloud Recesses are still as the waters of the cold springs. Now four different whispers, snorting and slurring drunkenly, come to disturb its still surface--to disturb him. Rising, Lan Wangji storms from his room and to the courtyard. He derives more than a little satisfaction from the way they all seem to freeze.
"S-second Young Master Lan!" Nie Huaisang stammers. "Wh-what are you . . . We were just . . ."
“Drinking is forbidden in the Cloud Recesses.” Lan Wangji looks directly at Wei Ying. “You’ve broken the rules.”
Wei Ying lets out a little huff, rolls his eyes. Lan Wangji’s fists clench. Before either of them can say anything, Nie Huaisang interrupts.
“B-b-but Second Young Master Lan! We didn’t drink in the Cloud Recesses. We drank outside.”
“Wow, Nie Huisang!” Wei Ying claps him on the shoulder. His face is clearly impressed. “So even you can be crafty like this, huh?”
Nie Huaisang simpers cheekily behind his fan, and then the two start giggling and mooning over each other the way they always do, and Lan Wangji just can’t stand it.
“No going out at night in the Cloud Recesses,” he retorts, and the laughter withers. Wei Ying’s face suddenly brightens with realization.
“Ah, but Lan Zhan, we came back just now! When we went out, it was still light. As long as we’re just coming back in the dark, we shouldn’t be breaking any more rules, so it’s fine, right?”
Lan Wangji knows that this is not how the rule works, but he’s too furious for explanations. Wei Ying, meanwhile, actually has the audacity to look pleased with himself. Tossing his head, he glances back at the others, clearly gloating over his own cleverness.
"Besides," Wei Ying continues, "tomorrow is Li-xiong's last day in the Cloud Recesses. Can’t you just let it go?”
"Shameless," Lan Wangji practically growls, but he isn't sure what to say after that. Wei Ying just smiles.
"Aren't you the one who's being shameless right now?" he coos, and Lan Wangji's insides go cold. "You don't have to go so far as to pick a fight, Lan Zhan. If you missed me so much, just go ahead and say it."
But Lan Wangji can't say it, so he draws Bichen.
 ----
The punishment is particularly humiliating--not just because Lan Wangji has disappointed his uncle and brother, but because Wei Ying looks especially smug as the five of them are forced to kneel the next morning. Like he's proven a spectacularly intelligent point, or won a prize.
"See?" Wei Ying hisses at Jiang Wanyin. "I told you--"
Jiang Wanyin cuts him off with an elbow to the ribs.
Since Lan Wangji and Wei Ying are deemed doubly guilty as having both broken curfew and instigated acts of violence, they are charged with kneeling longer than the other three. Nie Huaisang and his cousin shoot Wei Ying a sympathetic look as they slink off. Wei Ying just puts on a brave smile and whispers, "Bye, Li-xiong! Remember to come visit me in Yunmeng!"
Lan Wangji's stomach curls. "No talking," he snaps before he can stop himself. Wei Ying gives him a sardonic look.
"Aren't you just breaking your own rule by talking?" he asks. Lan Wangji's face hardens, but he can't quite ignore the pleased little thrill in his chest.
Wei Ying is speaking to him again.
"Aren't you just being unnecessarily rebellious?" he retorts back, invigorated. Wei Ying blinks at this, then heaves a little laugh.
"You know what, Lan Zhan? You've been really argumentative ever since last night. Don't be so self-righteous. You'll have a hard time getting along with others."
"Unlike you, who gets along with others so well," Lan Wangji claps back, surprised by his own vitriol.
Wei Ying shrugs. "Most of the time. People with good taste get along with me, anyway. Oh, that reminds me!"
He reaches suddenly into his sleeve. Lan Wangji tries not to look, but his eyes are inevitably drawn as Wei Ying removes something, holding it out for Lan Wangji to see. A small, wooden bunny, crudely carved and even more crudely painted, sits in Wei Ying's palms.
"Ta-da!" Wei Ying declares. "Isn't it cute?"
"Mn," Lan Wangji answers, taken off guard. His ears burn as Wei Ying's smile widens.
"Right? I bought it when I went to Caiyi Town yesterday. Lan Zhan, you like rabbits, don't you?"
The sound of a throat clearing has both of them straightening their backs. Lan Qiren gives them a particularly scathing look as he passes by. Lan Wangji's ears burn even hotter with shame.
"Anyway," Wei Ying says, as soon as Lan Qiren has disappeared, "that's why I--"
"No talking," Lan Wangji mutters harshly.
Wei Ying heaves an exasperated sigh, but unexpectedly doesn't protest. Instead he leans over. With unnecessary flourish, he sets the figurine down directly in front of Lan Wangji's bent knees.
Lan Wangji would rather die than look down.
Wei Ying makes a face but says nothing. He settles back down reluctantly.
They pass the rest of the punishment in silence. Wei Ying pokes at pebbles, squirms, whistles and sighs. Lan Wangji stares straight ahead, until his eyeballs ache and he realizes he's forgotten to blink. The little white rabbit taunts him just outside of his periphery. Lan Wangji wonders what Wei Ying could possibly mean, teasing him this way. Is he trying to gloat? Why else would he show Lan Wangji a trinket that is obviously meant for someone else? Maybe it's for Jiang Yanli. She seems kind and gentle. Perhaps she has a soft spot for small, mischievous creatures. Or maybe it's for Jiang Wanyin, as part of some inside joke Lan Wangji isn't privy to.
Or maybe it's a parting gift for Nie Huaisang's cousin.
Lan Wangji spends the next few hours focusing on his breath.
When the time of their punishment finally concludes, Lan Xichen dismisses them. Wei Ying leaves first, but not before shooting Lan Wangji one last glance. Lan Xichen doesn't miss it, of course. His eyes, twinkling, trail after Wei Ying as he departs. Then he turns, gaze landing on the small wooden rabbit perched in the pebbles, just at the tip of Lan Wangji's boots.
"Is that yours, Wangji?" he asks, voice warm with amusement.
Lan Wangji bends to retrieve it. The rabbit is coarse in his hands, and unexpectedly light. The poorly painted eye sockets watch him haphazardly as it sits in his palm. He blinks back at it, as if startled that it hasn't yet hopped away. He thinks back to yesterday in Caiyi Town, remembers Wei Ying lazily browsing the vendors and stalls.
Wei Ying may be careless, but Lan Wangji knows he did not leave this rabbit behind by mistake.
Lan Wangji has to swallow back a smile.
"I am glad to see that you and young master Wei are getting along again," Lan Xichen comments. "It's good to see you happy and at ease."
'Am I happy?' Lan Wangji wonders, but the answer is clear. Even after having spent hours on his knees, pebbles and hard ground digging into his joints, he feels strangely relaxed. He is happy that Wei Ying is talking to him again, he realizes with sudden and absolute clarity. Happy that he didn't completely push Wei Ying away with too harsh words; happy that he has not been so easily forgotten. But he is not sure why this makes him happy, or what that happiness means.
Lan Wangji tucks the rabbit into his sleeve. There will be plenty of time to think things over while he monitors Wei Ying in the library tomorrow--provided Wei Ying is not too much of a distraction.
 ----
Wei Wuxian heads from the main pavilion directly to Jiang Cheng. He holds out a hand, palm up. "Time to pay up."
Jiang Cheng scowls. "This doesn't count. You deliberately provoked him first."
Wei Wuxian pretends to look scandalized. "It's not my fault he patrols the Cloud Recesses like a hawk! Besides, the rules of the bet never said anything about who provoked who, only who talked to who first. You saw it yourself; he was the one who approached me, fair and square. I told you he wanted to be my friend!"
Jiang Cheng digs out his coin purse reluctantly. "If he does, then you both deserve each other! The way you chase after him is ridiculous. It's gross just to watch!"
Wei Wuxian counts the coins happily. "Well Second Young Master Lan must like it, because he couldn't hold himself back. Haha, and to think you were so sure that I was the one who wouldn't be able to stay away!"
"He only approached you because we were breaking the rules," Jiang Cheng gripes. "If he hadn't caught you, he'd still be ignoring you."
Wei Wuxian's smile falters like a candle flame in the breeze. He recalls the sight of Lan Zhan's back--the smooth black hair, the white clad shoulders--retreating amongst the crowded street of Caiyi Town. He'd been so sure Lan Zhan would approach him that time.
If he hadn’t caught you, he’d still be ignoring you. Yeah; Jiang Cheng was probably right.
But whatever! So what if that fuddy duddy Second Jade of Lan looks down on him? Teasing Lan Zhan is one of the few fun things to do in the Cloud Recesses, an oasis in a desert of lectures and rule books and curfews. And that's all it is--just teasing. There isn’t any deeper meaning behind it. The bet had proven it, after all. Wei Ying could literally stop talking to Lan Zhan any time he wanted to, just like that. So what if it made the days longer, or left a hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach that he couldn't seem to fill, no matter how many bowls of shijie's soup he stuffed himself with? All that matters is that it's over now. Wei Wuxian doesn't have to hold himself back like a caged cat, or bite back the words dancing on the tip of his tongue. Things can finally go back to normal.
Lost in his own thoughts, Wei Wuxian doesn't notice Yanli approach.
"Who's ignoring A-Xian?" she asks with a smile.
Wei Wuxian is suddenly overcome with a wave of shame. He pockets the coins hastily. "No one, no one," he lies. The last thing he wants is for Yanli to find out that he and Jiang Cheng have been placing bets on a person. She probably wouldn't think it was very kind, and he'd hate himself if he disappointed her. And now that he thinks about it, really thinks about it, she'd be right to be disappointed. Playing these kind of games with another person . . . Couldn't that potentially be hurtful?
Whatever, whatever! As if Lan Zhan would ever bring himself to care about anything Wei Wuxian does, as long as he's not violating the Lan sect rules.
"What's for dinner?" Wei Wuxian asks, and the three head back to their main quarters.
On the other side of the Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji removes the rabbit from his sleeve, sets it on the table beside his guqin, and allows his face to soften.

The Lost Princess Chapter 28
Warnings: angst?

Tumblr media
You and the trio had left the Fourth World Entrance and had entered the world, Monstro.
“What a weird place! Everything's kinda springy and soft,” you said.
“Nice and warm, too. I'm startin' to feel like a nap,” Goofy said.
“I think you should be a little more worried,” someone said.
“Who's there?” Donald asked. There, Pinocchio was hiding behind a wall.
“You're inside the belly of Monstro the Whale,” he said. Jiminy jumped onto the ground.
“Why, I know that voice... Pinocchio? Pinoke, it's you! Come on out!” Jiminy said.
“Is that you, Jiminy? Gosh, I thought I'd never see you again!” Pinocchio said.
“Gee, there's no way you wouldn't find me again. I'm your conscience. And your conscience will always be your guide. Remember?”
“Sure, Jiminy. And I've been a good boy, promise. I didn't tell a single lie.” All of a sudden, Pinocchio’s nose grew longer.
“Uh-oh!” he said.
“Well, for Pete's sake!” Jiminy said.
“Oops! But...how did YOU end up inside Monstro, anyway?”
“We, uh, sort of used a special way...” Sora said.
“It's so special, we don't know how we did it!” Goofy said.
“That's too bad... I was hoping you could help me and Father get out of here.”
“Well, I'll be! Geppetto's here, too?”
“Sure he is. Follow me!” You and the others followed PInocchio to a ruined ship inside Monstro's mouth, where Geppetto was.
“Geppetto!” Jiminy said. Geppetto walked over to the ship's edge.
“Bless my soul, it's Jiminy Cricket. How in the world did you get here?” he said.
“You tell me! How does a clockmaker wind up in the belly of a whale?” Jiminy said.
“Well, it's a long story...” You and the gang climbed onto the ship, and Geppetto told his story.
“So you sailed out to look for Pinocchio...” Donald said.
“...and Monstro swallowed you!” Goofy said.
“Yes, but I found my son. I would do anything for my Pinocchio,” Geppetto said.
“But now you can't get out, can you? Being stuck in the belly of a whale is awful,” you said.
“Not if Pinocchio and I are together. That makes everything a little bit better. There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about.”
“Yeah... I know what you mean,” Sora said.
“Me too,” you said.
“I don't care if I'm trapped here, so long as I have Pinocchio. He's such a good boy.”
“Well, he still tells fibs. But with a little help from me...” Jiminy said.
“Oh, Jiminy, you worry too much.”
“Speaking of Pinocchio... Where is he?” Sora asked.
“He was here a minute ago. Where's he gone this time?” Donald said.
“I expect he's off exploring. That boy has been poking around just about everywhere inside this monster. He won't tell me why it's so important. I tell him it's dangerous, but he won't listen.”
“That boy's a handful! Sora, (Y/N), if you don't mind...”
“I know, I know. You want us to help you find him, right? C'mon, guys, let's get going!” Sora said. You, Donald, and Goofy nodded in agreement.
“Oh!” Pinocchio said. You, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy found Pinocchio in another area of Monstro.
“Pinocchio! What are you thinking?! You know Geppetto worries when you wander off by yourself,” Jiminy said.
“Jiminy was worried, too!” Donald said.
“I'm sorry...” Pinocchio said.
“What are you doing, anyway? Looking for something?” you asked.
“Um...yeah, I'm looking for treasure!” Pinocchio’s nose grew longer.
“Here we go again!” Jiminy said.
“But, Jiminy...”
“Now, don't be so hard on the little fella, Jiminy. We promise not to get mad, Pinocchio. Is that why you're afraid to tell? No need to fret. Tell us the truth---we'll understand. Put yer trust in Goofy!” Goofy said.
“...I was looking for a way out. Father says he's happy, but it's my fault we're stuck here. I shouldn't have run away from home. I want to help Father get home to the workshop. But he'll worry if I tell him what I'm doing.”
“So that's why you thought you had to tell a lie,” Jiminy said.
“You did it 'cause you love your dad!”
“All you need now is courage!” Donald said.
“What?”
“Tell Geppetto the truth. With a little courage, you can do it! If you tell him how you really feel, I bet he'll help you find a way out,” you said.
“And we'll give you a hand!” Sora said.
“Really? You'll help us? Okay, I'll give it a try! Wish me luck, Jiminy!”
“No more keeping secrets, then. Have we got a deal?” Jiminy said.
“Sure! I'll be brave and tell Father how I really feel. No lies this time!”
“Great! Then your nose won't---” Suddenly, the ground started to shake.
“What's happening?!” you asked.
“I have no idea!” Sora said.
“I got a bad feeling about this!” Donald said.
“Pinocchio, run for it!” Jiminy said. Pinocchio ran away. A Parasite Cage Heartless fell from the ceiling in front of him.
“Pinocchio!” you and Sora said. Pinocchio was trapped inside the Heartless.
“Help! I'm trapped!” he said.
“What?!” Sora asked. You and the trio fought the Parasite Cage. After the fight, the Heartless was knocked out, but Pinocchio was still trapped inside.
“Help me! I'm scared!” he said.Pinocchio was trapped inside the Heartless.
“Help! I'm trapped!” he said.
“What?!” Sora asked. You and the trio fought the Parasite Cage. After the fight, the Heartless was knocked out, but Pinocchio was still trapped inside.
“Help me! I'm scared!” he said.
“Pinocchio, be brave!” you said.
“How?”
“Don't give up! Try fighting your way out!”
“Be brave... Okay, I'll try!” Pinocchio jumped up and down, which opened the Heartless' cage and allowed Pinocchio to climb out, right before the Heartless was destroyed and its heart was released.
“Pinocchio, are you alright?” Jiminy asked.
“Don't worry, I'm okay. Just a little sticky...” Pinocchio said as he got up.
“But I have a great idea! That thing spit me out when I started fighting back. Why don't we try the same thing with Monstro?” he said.
“Of course! If we're lucky, Monstro might cough us up!” Sora said.
“Great idea! Let's go deeper inside and try it!” Donald said.
“I'm going, too!” Pinocchio said.
“No, it's too dangerous,” Jiminy said.
“Aww, c'mon...”
“You should be with Geppetto. No use escaping from Monstro if you two get separated again!”
“Leave this to us,” Sora said.
“I guess you're right. Be careful, everybody!” You and the trio left to explore Monstro. You, Sora, Donald, and Goofy entered Monstro's throat.
“Looks like this is as far as we go,” Goofy said.
“Ready, then? Let's shake things up!” you said.
“It would be easier if we had someone to fight...” Donald said.
“Perfect timing. Looks like we've got company!” Sora said. Several Shadow Heartless surrounded you and the trio. One spooked Donald. The four of you defeated the Heartless.
“Whew...” Sora said. Suddenly, the ground started to shake, which shocked you and the trio.
“A-hyuck?” Goofy asked.
“It's working! Monstro's gonna sneeze!” Jiminy said. Monstro started to sneeze. The four of you group was risen out of the throat and landed in Monstro's mouth.
“Oww... Now I know what getting shot out of a cannon feels like,” Sora said.
“Where's Pinocchio and his dad?” Goofy asked.
“They're gone. They must've gotten out safely,” Jiminy said.
“Without you, Jiminy? I thought there was no escaping your conscience!” you said.
“I don't mind being left behind, as long as they're both safe. Maybe Pinocchio doesn't need me after all.”
“What do you mean?”
“That little puppet used to have trouble telling right from wrong. But he's come a long way. Maybe he doesn't need Jiminy Cricket anymore. Seems like he's got a conscience of his very own.”
“Don't you remember what Geppetto said? ‘There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about.’ I bet Pinocchio's counting the days till he can see you again,” Sora said. Jiminy jumped back onto Sora's shoulder.
“Well, what do you know... You might be right,” he said. Goofy and Donald nodded while you smiled in reassurance. You and the group then left Monstro. You, Sora, Donald, and Goofy entered the Fourth Floor Exit Hall.
“Who could that have been before in my memory?” Sora asked.
‘It wasn't Kairi... But another...girl? Maybe... I think her name was...’ Sora thought.
“Sora!” Donald said.
“Ah!” Sora said surprised.
“(Y/N)’s having another headache,” Goofy said. He saw you on the ground, clutching your head, and breathing heavily with your eyes tightly closed.
“(Y/N)? Are you okay?” Sora asked as he knelt down to your height. You didn’t say anything but continued to breathe heavily.
You were back where you saw Vanitas during your last headache and you ran up to him.
“Vani! What’s going on? Why am I getting these headaches? What are you not telling me?” you asked.
“Follow me,” he said. You walked with Vanitas and you saw a silhouette of a boy on a chair.
“Is that you, Vani?” you asked.
“Not technically,” he said. You looked at him confused.
“I was originally part of him when dad ripped me out with his keyblade. I’m back in him now but it’s only a matter of time before dad does it again.”
“What should I do?”
“I need you to use your powers to protect me and him.”
“Are you sure?”
“100%. It’s the only to protect me. I don’t want be part of his schemes.”
“Okay.” You used your powers and placed a protection spell on Vanitas and the boy.
“What’s his name?” you asked when you finished the spell.
“Ventus. Ven for short,” Vanitas said.
“Will I ever get to meet him?”
“Maybe. You never know.” He started to disappear and you gave him a hug before he went.
“I love you, big brother,” you said.
“I love you too, little sis,” he said. He disappeared and you returned back to the trio.
“Are you okay?” Sora asked. You nodded and slowly stood up.
“That was your second headache. Are you sure you’re okay?” Donald said.
“I-I’m fine. I think this castle is messing with me,” you said.
“If you say so,” Sora said. The four of you continued, you staying close to Sora so that you could keep your balance. Somewhere in the castle, the girl was still in the white room, drawing. She was drawing a picture in her sketchbook of you, Sora, Kairi, herself, and Riku holding hands. You, Sora, and the gang entered the Fifth Floor. Goofy and Donald nodded as the four of you walked toward the door.
“I remember!” Sora said.
“Huh?” Donald and Goofy asked.
“There was another girl!”
“Really?! Me too!” you said.
“What? A girl? Where?” Goofy asked.
“No, no, I mean on the islands where (Y/N) and I used to live. Besides (Y/N), Kairi and Riku, there was one other girl I was friends with. The five of us played together all the time,” Sora said.
“I remember that too! She was really sweet!” you said.
“Sora, (Y/N)...Seems to me that's the first time you've mentioned her,” Jiminy said.
“Yeah...I guess we forgot all about her. I think...she just suddenly went away when we were still really little,” you said.
“What do you think made you remember that now?” Donald asked.
“I'm not sure. But it's been coming back in pieces as we go through the castle,” Sora said.
“Gawrsh, do ya remember her name?” Goofy asked.
“I don't remember. I feel kinda dumb. We said we weren't gonna forget our friends, and well now... I can't even remember her name,” Sora said.
“Me neither,” you said. You and Sora put your head down, ashamed.
“Sora...(Y/N)...” Donald said.
“Aww, you shouldn't be worryin', none! If it's been coming back to you in pieces... You're sure to remember her name just like everything else!” Goofy said. You and Sora nodded, still a bit worried. You and Sora held up the next card at the Fifth Floor world entrance, and entered to the next world.
To be continued...

Top 20 BEST Animated Series of the 2010s-15th Place
The fifteenth place is a tie, primarily because both of these shows are equally good, in my opinion. Some of you might disagree with me, but to that I say-
ALL ABOARD THE HATE TRAIN!
CHOO CHOO!
#15-We Bare Bears (2015-2020)/Big City Greens (2018-)
The Plot(s): Both shows involve an unorthodox family trying to fit in with what’s considered normal. In We Bare Bears, it’s three brother bears (Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear) trying to fit in with modern society. And in Big City Greens, it’s a family of farmers (Cricket, Tilly, Bill, and Gramma) trying to adjust to city life after the family farm got sold due to low profits. In both shows, these characters make new friends, go on wacky adventures, and learn that they’ll always be okay as long as they’re together.
Aside from that brief description, I can sum up these shows in two words: Charmingly simplistic. There’s no intense continuity, no ongoing story arcs, or even an evilly evil villain hoping to take over the world...for the most part. These are just two different shows, with two types of families trying to get by in life. And honestly, it’s those families that make these shows work.
The dynamic between the bears in We Bare Bears is what makes the show so charming to watch. These three actually act like brothers (from what I’ve been told. I, unfortunately, don’t have brothers), and seeing their brotherly bond does nothing less than putting a smile on my face. Plus, the loyalty they have for each other is downright heartwarming, especially when the series flashes back to when they were kids.
And while I can’t entirely say that the Green family has the same amount of charm to them, there is one thing that I love. And that’s the fact that (kinda spoiler warning) they are an almost complete family in a Disney cartoon, with both parents being a prominent role in the series. Yes, Bill and Nancy are divorced, but that doesn’t mean Nancy isn’t around for her kids. She shows up frequently after her introduction and even gives off an impression that she’s a semi-good mom. In fact, Bill and Nancy seem to still have a level of respect for each other despite missing their old spark. It’s almost as if the writers are trying to say that not all divorces mean the destruction of a family, which I can respect. Because it can teach kids to not be afraid of the “D” word (kinda spoilers over).
But it’s not just the main characters that shine in these shows. The members of the supporting cast in We Bare Bears have a level of likability and depth. Chloe is often outgoing and laid back when she’s with the bears, who fails to make any other connections due to being a child prodigy. Ranger Tabes is often audacious and enjoyably energetic while also taking pride in her work and feels hurt when she thinks she’s not taken seriously. Then there are Charlie and Nom Nom, who have a level of charm to them. Despite being intended to come off as annoying and unlikable. Even the background characters are impressive due to the diversity of cultures and races that a viewer can see in each episode.
As for Big City Greens, the characters do not really have any depth outside of the main cast. What you see is pretty much what you get with most of these characters, aside from maybe Gloria, but even then, it’s only on occasion. Big City Greens also dodges showing diversity by having everyone be a shade of bright pastel colors. But I give credit to the show for having the first gay couple in a Disney cartoon...even though they get dropped by season two and are never fully confirmed as gay. Which pales in comparison to Luz and Amity from The Owl House, but it was at least a start! Sometimes, you gotta take baby steps before taking leaps ahead of the game. And don’t get me wrong, while I still prefer characters who have depth, that doesn’t mean I hate the characters in Big City Greens. Everyone does their job of adding to the story and making audiences laugh. In fact, making audiences laugh is what I would say Big City Greens does better than We Bare Bears.
Now in fairness. We Bare Bears is pretty funny from time to time. However, when it comes to which series makes me laugh the most, I have to pick Big City Greens. The first few episodes alone had me laughing much more than most of We Bare Bears' first season. It also helps that the show has a very random sense of humor elevated by the show’s energy. But I'll give it to you that comedy is subjective, and there are a couple of jokes that don’t work in Big City Greens. The best example is when the show lingers too long on a joke that didn’t really work as much as the writers thought it did. But that does not change the fact that Big City Greens is still a pretty funny show.
However, while We Bare Bears lacks comedy, it more than enough makes up for it with charm. This show is downright delightful to watch in almost every episode. Rarely do I feel anger when watching this series (which I wish I could say about previous/future entrees), and it has everything to do with the cast. I wasn’t kidding when I said that even intentionally annoying characters have a level of charm and likeability to them. In fact, the only bad episodes are when they begin to act uncharacteristically cruel and selfish. Mostly because those words could not be farther from a definition of We Bare Bears.
However, if I had to pick out the major fault that We Bare Bears have, it’s the fact that the show plays things a little too safe. For instance, whenever the show tries to go dark, it is pretty tame compared to other shows. The best example is how nearly every dangerous predator in this series somehow looks adorable. Wolfs, snakes, and even cougars (the big cats, not the middle-aged women) are somehow drawn to be cute and cuddly. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want a show to make kids think that dangerous woodland creatures like these are something you could just give a belly rub. I understand that this is a kids' show, but Big City Greens not only has the same rating, but it’s on the Disney Channel. And yet, it feels like that show has bigger cajones than the series formerly on the same network as Regular Show. That is not a good thing.
Going back to Big City Greens, I can sum up every problem I have with this show with one character: Cricket Green. Now I don’t entirely hate Cricket...but I’m willing to bet other people will. I can tell that the show is trying to make him a lovable little rascal that’s sort of a mix of Bart Simpson and Timmy Turner. But in the end, I think he causes more damage than either of those characters have in their entire lives. Cricket claims how sorry he is at the end of every episode, but I doubt he learns his lesson. We Bare Bears has a similar problem with Panda, but even when Panda is at his most selfish, he doesn’t do anything harmful to anyone but himself (except in the episode “Braces," but we don’t need to talk about that). Plus, even when he does go a tad too far, Panda’s voice actor (Bobby Moynihan) does a great job at making Panda seem sincere when he’s apologizing for his actions. Not to mention that Bobby gives a sense of realism and relatability with most of Panda’s lines. Then there is Cricket’s voice actor, Chris Houghton, an adult man trying to voice a child. I understand the logic behind using an adult over a kid (this happens more times than you think), but I feel like I would get the impression that Cricket is an innocent kid who doesn’t know better if he actually sounded like a kid.
In the end, neither of these shows are really that impressive compared to others. Thankfully with good comedy, charm, and great characters, they still manage to be really good for all ages. So while We Bare Bears and Big City Greens may not be as big as any other show in the last decade, they’re still good enough that you might just bear it!
(Two for one! I told you I would make up the embarrassment that was Dan Vs.!)

BSD Chimera Ant AU
Inexperienced tumblr amateur here (and honestly new to fan content creation in general)! I don’t expect many people to see this, but would anyone be interested in reading through the first few chapters of a fic I’m writing? And maybe giving me some feedback? It’s my first time ever writing fanfiction.
It’s a Bungou Stray Dogs fic in an AU based on the Chimera Ant arc in Hunter x Hunter, but nobody would need to have any prior knowledge of that universe in order to understand the story or anything. All the characters are from Bungou Stray Dogs. For those who aren’t familiar with Chimera Ants from HxH, they are this species of ant whose queen can eat pretty much anything, and her offspring take on the characteristics of whatever she’s eaten recently. This particular queen has taken to eating humans, rendering her colony one capable of ant-like instincts with human-like reason.
Plot wise, this fic takes place kind of after the Guild Arc. The team responsible for eliminating this deadly threat to the human race: Dazai, Atsushi, Kunikida, Akutagawa, and Chuuya. They have augmented a mountain cave into a makeshift base of operations for their mission in the remote nation of NGL, where the new and highly dangerous Chimera Ant species are running rampant.
This will probably be rated M, more for violence than anything. There will not be any actual smut in this fic, though you better bet that there’s hurt and comfort, and tenderness and fluff, and sexual tension, and, to top it all off, people might just actually maybe have some long overdue discussions about trauma. All while battling killer humanoid nightmare insects. Who will also be familiar characters... but I’m not spoiling who they are.
Here is an excerpt from the first chapter, just for a taste:
-----
-----
“Atsuuuushi-kuun~,” Dazai hummed, “Do you think our fear of insects comes from the fact that when we look at them all we see are their bare bones?”
“Um, well I don’t know, Dazai-sa—“
“That, when we see them, we see a skeleton walking [or not walking] around, flaunting the reality of our own mortality before us in a gaudy parade,”
“Excuse me, Daz—“
“And the eternal question always stands -- is it dead? — because, dead or alive, their exteriors look the same. Maybe I’ll find the perfect lady bug, my queen of the valley, who uncannily shares my dream for the most serene —“
“YOUR bones are about to be flaunted before you in a gaudy parade if you don’t shut the HELL UP” Chuuya’s snarl echoed through their small cave, followed by a sickening twist and crack.
The three members of the Armed Detective Agency spun on their heels to face a small, angry man soaked in a dense purple liquid. A disembodied insect skull, twice as big as his own, rested in his left palm. Though clearly insect, the skull was shaped more like a horse’s than anything else. One of its antennae was missing. His other hand hoisted the creature’s thorax and abdomen above his head, gripping at the place where they met.
“We have no time to waste on your twisted rumination. I don’t care why you think you’re afraid of them, but we need to figure out how to survive this -- No. How to take these fuckers down. How many of you can say you’ve managed to kill a squadron leader?”
The silence was devoid of crickets.
